While the facility is nice, they increased my rate by almost 2X in under 3 years. Also, they charge credit card fees, late charges (even when their payment system is down), and for anything else they can think of. Their business model is to drain as much money as they can from you until you finally walk away from them, then they will make that as hard as possible.

If I could give less than one star I would. They are thieves. Stole everything out of my son’s unit by changing lock while he was deployed.

I had 4 units in a Seguin facility, I made an appointment to be in the office to settle my account, when I got there, the office was closed, I called and the person was at an office a another location but this office was inside a gate, the gate wouldn't accept my code, so I went to lunch and called, they said my payment wasn't received by noon and 2 of my units were defaulted and auctioned, now I'm paying on the remaining 2 and when I use the automated payment, it applies both payments to the same unit which causes a $120 lien fee on the remaining unit, this has happened several times/months, it appears that these things are all a part of a scam.

CubeSmart's online system cancelled my reservation with no written notice and then the district manager refused to honor the original rate. On 5/6 I reserved a 10x15 unit online: 1151 East New York Ave, Brooklyn NY, 11212 location; $277.80/mo; 5/21 move-in date. When I clicked into the SmartRental flow from the confirmation email, CubeSmart's system changed my move-in date to 5/7 with no written notice. Then the store cancelled my reservation after I missed a few phone calls which my phone flagged as potential spam - no attempt to reach me via text or email. I only found out the reservation had been cancelled a couple weeks later when I tried to complete it and couldn't.

I have no issues with the location I rent from but I am very unsatisfied with how my monthly rate keeps going up. I haven't had my storage less than a year and it has went up almost $30.00 from what I signed for. I understand prices are getting high but this is ridiculous. This isn't not what I signed up for and I am looking into other options.

Beware of deceptive pricing tactics. I reserved a storage unit online with CubeSmart because the website clearly showed “first month free” and “total due at move-in: $29.” Then during checkout, suddenly there was a required lock fee and a “required” protection plan added, bringing the actual amount due to over $66. The next day, I went to the facility in person with the unopened lock and proof of my homeowners insurance coverage, expecting they would remove or refund those charges. I was told they would not refund the lock and would not remove the protection plan charges despite me already having insurance coverage. To make matters worse, the storage unit itself was filthy upon move-in. There was visible dirt and debris inside the unit, and the door/interior clearly had not been properly cleaned or maintained before being rented out.

This place charge 30 dollar late fee after two days late. Price goes up every single month. Started at 150 now I’m at 230. They even kicked my unit with double lock after 2 days late. Go somewhere else. I highly recommend Public Storage. The prices never change.

Initially, what you would expect. But after three months, when everything was moved into the unit, I got a 37% rate increase. Felt like a bait and switch. Recommend going elsewhere.

CubeSmart On the first month of billing, they are starting to steal your money saying that you didn’t have money in your account, trying to charge you extra $30.00 for overdraft in bank statements can prove the money was in the bank. When you call they tell you about all these different fees just to pay your bill. This company is a rip off. Do not do business with them. These people need to be stopped. They are thieves. They are robbers. They are no good and I am not talking about the people who sits at the front desk. I am talking about the billing and the management department..

There has been a huge mouse problem at this CubeSmart facility throughout 2026. They don’t let you know this then try to pass the blame around instead of taking any responsibility. They have said it was the previous renters, that “they did clean it but those are new droppings they didn’t see,” or that they just started working there in November & currently fixing things. Insurance does not cover any mouse damage so rent here at your own risk to lost property.

My daughter had over 5000 dollars in water damage to mine and her personal belongings from rain coming from open places in the roof of my unit. Everything thing was wet and smelled like mold. They refused to be accountable and they lie about the kind of insurance you need. They only offered an extended stay for the unit to allow me to get my stuff out and then they erased my code to even get on the property. Don’t rent from CubeSmart in Nicholasville KY. Management will not be helpful and some are rude….I would never recommend this company to anyone. They are negligent and don’t keep their property maintenance up!!!!

The rent was $170 per month, it has gone up $100 every year and when I called to ask if the increase will ever stop, I was told that there is no cap in their increase. All I can do is get a smaller room and work off those prices and increases. None of this is talked about when you rent from them, and I will now remove my belongings and never use that again. My rent has gone up $300 in 3 years, and done by a post card in the mail.

Cubesmart business tactics and customer service are abysmal. I complained about a rate increase which angered the clerk. Since then none of my payments were mysteriously not received. I am going to be forced to litigate the issue to resolve or accept the loss of my items without compensation. They have lied and manipulated through the Better Business Bureau complaint.

Updated on 05/30/2026: STILL no response from my calls, letter, voicemail left at corporate. ONLY thing received is monthly billing notice with the price hike again!

Customer Service Cleanliness and well established… I am a past and present renter am have had a great experience with the unit but above all the DM Tara she’s very helpful and knowledgeable. She always takes time to explain but most importantly she is very knowledgeable in the explanation of the issue.., Thank you Tara because of people like you had made it more comfortable and safety in TRUSTING and recommending it to other renters. Keep up the EXCELLENT customer service Tara. GREAT JOB.

I really don’t think no one should rent from them, had an incident at one of the facilities. They said it was me but when I got up there with the police found out that it was not me on the camera and they did not refund me my money back, so be careful renting from them they are not right and the manager at the facility on Michael Blvd. They are rude, unprofessional, and have a problem with **, and I am going to spread this and what they did to me all over social media.

Cubesmart on Lantana Rd near Jog Rd is the worst storage place anyone could ever go to. I was there on Saturday Nov 22, 2025 at around 5 pm when I noticed two women having a belligerent altercation. I notified the front desk woman who said she would check the situation. The front desk woman never checked anything, she likely went home for the day, while the two women escalated their fight into threats of aggression toward me and I had to call 911. The apathy the personnel show at this location is not only disappointing, but also unsafe. Never again Cubesmart!

Do not use CubeSmart in Austell, Georgia. I rented my storage unit in September 2024. I also paid for the insurance protection each month. However, on December 31, 2025 when my Movers showed me that the sofa I had stored had been destroyed by rats. I immediately took pictures of the damage. I was told by the employee on site to call the insurance. I was told by the claims adjuster that the plan did not pay for rat infestation. I still filed the claim and sent pictures to the claims adjuster. I was denied and sent a letter saying only theft, fire or a natural disaster would be covered. I do not feel it is right that my furniture was destroyed and I am not compensated. Surely, Cubesmart had to be aware of the rat situation. I suggest people use another storage company.

What they don’t mention is they charge you $16 per month for a protection plan. The will not refund you either. They require insurance docs for your property you have stored. Another bs fee they stuff down your throat.

Do NOT rent storage units at ANY of the CubeSmart locations in the vicinity of Manchester/South Windsor, CT. There is literally ONE employee who is expected to manage at least FOUR locations. There is NEVER anyone working in the offices. They don't even, any longer post office hours on the front door. Also, twice now, I have arrived at my unit to find that an "over-lock" has been placed on my unit in ERROR, and I can't get into my unit!! When you contact the home office, you have to text them in their on-line "chat". No one will answer the phone!! They lie and tell you they'll come and take the lock off, but they never show up!! It takes weeks to get the lock taken off!!

My storage unit at the CubeSmart facility at 80 E Horizon Ridge Pkwy in Henderson, Nevada was burglarized, ransacked, and left in a destroyed condition. I only became aware of the burglary after a friend checked the unit and discovered the damage and missing property. This incident has been reported to the Henderson Police Department and is documented under police report #**. According to the police report, CubeSmart management acknowledged that multiple units at this facility had been burglarized over the past several months, and the report also indicates that my unit had previously appeared in an earlier police call for service related to forced entry damage.

Ashley was very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and made feel very comfortable with purchasing my new storage unit. I will recommend my family and friends to CubeSmart storage! It is very clean and professional facility!

CubeSmart is the last storage facility I would ever deal with. I don’t know who is giving the 5 star reviews for this business but they don’t deserve any stars at all. Customer service is practically non existent, on site management never answer phone calls, corporate office is a joke if you are trying to find out anything about current standing of your account, always trying to charge you for an extra month beyond what you are obligated to pay. Very unprofessional and rude to their tenants. Bogus charges around every corner you turn and the regional manager of the Surprise locations needs to take a refresher course on how to conduct yourself in a professional environment. Don’t rent from CubeSmart. They are nothing short of a migraine headache.

These guys have a broken website and app that cause a lot of headaches. They have *major* penalties for any sort of odd infraction. It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong; the penalties will never be refunded. This company routinely raises rents by 25% or more within 90 days of signing up with them. This partially pays for discounts they issue to new suckers whom they vacuum up and suck dry.

I use the Cube Smart on N. Charlotte Street and love it. The staff is super friendly and answered any question I've had. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for storage space.

They nearly doubled my rent after they bought out the place I had been storing from. No improvements, just two drastic price hikes. The storage is not climate controlled or located anywhere that great, but they put "premium" pricing on it.

Every single negative review is true. The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. It took 3 months to fix my broken door. My unit flooded and their insurance denied me. The DM, John guaranteed me that cubesmart was going to do everything to try to help me. Well, they lied. I moved into another unit and my rent immediately increased to the point it's no longer affordable. Cubesmart lost me a lot of money. John the DM and Justin the DVP have absolutely no customer service experience. I'll be the first one to sign up next class action lawsuit.

Kristy at the Kenosha location was very professional and knowledgeable and helpful when I asked questions on space and locations and pricing. She made me feel comfortable enough to ask questions. She didn’t hurry me or try to sell me something I didn’t need. She was funny and always smiling.

Clean and orderly facility, excellent customer service, fair pricing. Been customer since previous owner Badger Self Storage and 100 times better now that CubeSmart took ownership. Highly recommend Cubesmart on 22nd Ave in Kenosha.

Surprising rent increase within 2 months, corporate does not provide any accountability, upsetting. Not sure when the next rate increase will be, make sure you read your contract before signing.
