I was never sent my second copy, February's, of Reader's Digest. This was the first time I had ever subscribed to them. When I contacted customer service, I was told my next edition would be the March/April issue. When I replied & said you did NOT address my issue, I never heard from them again. This is why they "auto-renew" your subscription, because that's the only way they can guarantee subscribers. Waste of money even if the cost is a penny! Would not recommend.

I am frustrated with the billing practices Reader's Digest (RD) uses to try to trick me into renewing my subscription earlier than needed. I paid for a new 1 year subscription in April, then got a panicky looking "3rd notice" of exploration pending in September. If I didn't keep good records I would be tricked into renewing again. I've been a subscriber with RD for many years and notice this happens a lot. I would like these "offers" to show my actual exploration date somewhere.

My attempt to reach their Customer Service failed, because they Do Not Recognize the Account Number!! Already Previously I Had Problem with their Automatic Renewal of their Condensed Books /I was holding 2 jobs, and Could Not find time for reading/.

RD has been auto-charging $45. (2x in April) my card for 2 years w/out my permission. $90 for a year subscription!! I get coupon cards inside the magazine for $12 renewals. Anyone else have this problem? I’ve contacted RD 4x for a refund and NO response whatsoever. What to do next?

I enjoyed the magazine so much many years ago. I saw a special offer and signed up for it. Then I received an special offer for a book at a discount and purchased it. I expected advance notice and the price in advance before receiving any additional books so that I could decide if I wanted it but that didn't happen. Another book arrived and I wrote refused return to sender on the unopened box and returned it at the post office. I was billed for it anyway and that's how I found out the price of the book.

I called the phone number on my credit card statement and customer service said they had no record of billing me. They gave me another number to call for billing. I called that number and was told they had no record and that I should call the first number again. I called the first number which was on my credit card statement again and was told again they had no record of the charge and that I had to call the other number and they gave me that same number again. I called that number again receiving the same answer as before and also found out they were not Reader's Digest billing. They were a different company which also sells magazines but not books. I called the first number again which was the number on my credit card statement and this time which is the third time I called they admitted to billing me and said I will receive a refund which I am now waiting for.

Then I was asked if I would like to renew my magazine subscription which will expire in August. Of course I said no and I also told them to cancel the book subscription. I'm now waiting for email confirmation of my refund and the canceled book subscription. I should have checked the reviews first. Going forward I will read the magazines at the library. No more subscriptions. No more surprise billings and refund requests.

BEWARE - they will continue to bill you for renewals long after you have cancelled your subscription. I just got "dinged" for another $30.98 renewal fee (when their advertised price is $10 for a year). They are unethical cheats, so I warn you to avoid anything to do with Reader's Digest.

This is a sorry excuse for a periodical. So thin and uninteresting, ridiculous. The publisher should be ashamed and embarrassed. Does anyone need a fall vaccination guide. May as well read AARP for Pete’s sake.

I have been a customer of Reader’s Digest for many years. I had a book accidentally sent to me (which I did not remember ordering), and the Customer Service Dept. replied in an email promptly, kindly and efficiently. They made sure that the outcome to my request was satisfying. If I did not order it, I would not be charged. They updated my account, and facilitated it immediately. They were really wonderful to deal with, and I had no issues whatsoever. Since they made it right, I will be a customer for years to come.

Conned us.. Paid 999 through online portal and received first copy after two months and numerous e mails.. And that's it.. That's that.. No monthly copy received since August and the customer service lays in slumber. You guys literally maligned my memories with Reader's Digest. Never buying one again.

I enjoy reading Jason Buhrmester's columns. He is new to Reader's Digest. I look forward to reading his columns in the future. I enjoyed the picture of him and his two sons too. I hope they can look back on it too as they get older! Welcome to R.D. Hope to be hearing from you a long time!
