Horrible horrible platform, do not use this platform once you encounter a minor problem that should be fixed immediately it takes them days. How hard is it to process my payment right now so I can have access to my gmail? Shouldn’t be more than 2 minutes but for them 3-5 business days. Save yourself and do not use this platform, Good luck getting your stuff back if you already started working with them. They practically lock you in, if you cancel contract with them your domain and gmail will be locked for 30 days.

I do not recommend using this platform. I have many years experience with using site builders all the way around. I thought I would try this AI thing out and customize whatever I wanted to change. They give you a free trial. I used the site builders, everything seemed fine. I decided to upgrade to a paid account. Once I did, it didn't give me access to the Website I had already built. I had to start all over and it created a separate account. Then, when I wanted to set up my services and use the app that came with the account I have, it had no payment gateway or anything connected except for PayPal. There is no way to add apps or anything. I had to go through a 3rd party completely and imbed that into the site. Also there is no blog available. Again, you would have to use a 3rd party.

Then the thing that upset me the most was when I wanted to manually do my own SEO, since I am an SEO specialist. I decided not to use the AI thing for that since it is all wrong/off and of no use to me. I did something as simple as create a sitemap and then you know I need to upload it to the root directory. Guess what? You can't get access to that because it is AI and the customer service told me that I would have to upgrade my account. I said, surely this is not true. But it is very true. None of the customer service reps are tech savvy and they do NOT have a tech department.

I have spoken with 3 or 4 customer service reps and they rarely understood what I was asking for. Most of the time, I was left to handle things on my own. I'm very frustrated and very dissatisfied. They're very dismissive. When I asked the last person to help me and I realized he couldn't because he didn't understand me, he flat out refused. They don't respect business owners and they really are incompetent. You can tell when they are reading from a script.

If I could give it zero stars I would. In the beginning they are very helpful, 6 months in they no longer care about you. I have never had a company that I felt initially tried to irritate me at every turn, but this one does. If you use wordpress, this is not the hosting for you. Every time you call they will tell you that you need to buy another product of theirs to fix whatever you need fixed, or find a web developer. You are warned if you choose this company, you will lose every bit of patience you ever have had. Every person you speak to is fluent in gaslighting. After the 6 month mark you are redirected and will only get people who's first language is not English and very hard to understand, and if you tell them you cannot understand them those are really great times.

Extremely Disappointed with IONOS Hosting – Avoid if You Value Your Time and Data. I’ve had one of the worst experiences with IONOS Hosting. My server was abruptly taken offline without any prior notice or a reasonable opportunity to respond or take action. This irresponsible move not only disrupted my services but also blocked me from backing up critical data or resolving the supposed issue myself.

To make things worse, IONOS’s customer service is beyond frustrating. Representatives were unhelpful, often reading from scripts without actually addressing my concerns. I was bounced around from department to department, each giving conflicting information and offering no real solution. At no point did I feel like anyone took ownership of the issue or showed any urgency to help. This kind of service is unacceptable, especially when you rely on your server for essential business operations. I expected more from a company that claims to offer professional hosting services. If you value clear communication, reliable support, and respect for your data, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.

I purchased the cheapest plan offered by Ionos because I'm a college student looking to make a portfolio website which doesn't require anything fancy. I found that this website was not very user-friendly for me. I was lost every time I visited the site. It would take me 10 minutes just to find where to get to my website so I could start creating it and I somehow accidentally made like 5 new projects just trying to find where to edit my site. I never figured out how to delete those projects, which made finding my website harder because it would be in the shuffle somewhere.

A few months in, I started to be charged over $65 a month in total for 3 services that I didn't recognize. I clicked on these services hoping to get a description of what I was being charged for, but that only led me down a confusing rabbit hole every time. I went in circles all over their website looking for ways to cancel these mysterious services without canceling the actual plan I purchased for a lot less money. Their website is so confusing. I couldn't find any helpful information. (Keep in mind I'm a graphic designer not a website designer/expert, so maybe I just don't understand the jargon or whatnot). Eventually, I would give up out of frustration and come back the next month when I noticed another $65 charge.

After 4 months of this, I was so fed up I decided to cancel everything on my Ionos account and start over on a different hosting service. Their cancellation process was just as confusing as their website. I called their customer support line to help me and couldn't understand what the person was saying due to various background noises on their end of the phone. They were able to cancel the monthly charges but I did not receive a refund for the full year I still had left on my plan that I would not be using. I'm sure that was in the contract so it's understandable, but disappointing.

Overall, I would not recommend Ionos for anyone who does not fully understand website hosting because they can steamroll over you before you know what's going on. Make sure you know exactly what you're paying for and that you understand the payment plan. Ionos had some services charging me once a year and some charging me monthly. Again, maybe for someone who has a much better understanding of how this stuff works, you might have a better experience.

If you're like me and just need a website for something simple like a portfolio that just needs to sit there for potential employers whenever you're job hunting, and/or you don't understand this stuff very well, I would look for a more beginner friendly/helpful hosting service. If you are already using Ionos to host your website, keep a close eye on what you're being charged for and when. I will say that their customer service responds to their emails quickly which was nice, but due to everything else, this hosting service was not for me.

Where do I even begin? My experience with IONOS has been a nightmare from start to finish. Initially, their sales pitch lacked clarity, which should have been a warning. But the real trouble started when IONOS found a so-called "malicious file" on ONE of my domains. This file, an image with a slight permission change (something entirely normal within a WordPress setup), was flagged as a major issue. Rather than handling this appropriately, IONOS took down my entire web space—every domain, every file, and every folder—resulting in error 403 across the all 5 websites. This catastrophic action not only tanked my Google rankings but also caused immense stress and disruption to my business. Their response? A vague directive to "follow the instructions to get your information back." Unsurprisingly, this process led nowhere.

The following day, I received a call stating my websites were back up. But this was far from the truth—only the front pages were restored, while admin pages remained inaccessible. It became clear that the only way to truly resolve this situation is to leave IONOS entirely. Ironically, only then did they manage to restore service properly. Throughout my time with IONOS, they constantly tried to upsell me on their upgraded security package, which now feels like nothing more than a tactic to squeeze more money out of me. IONOS’ heavy-handed approach to handling a non-issue, combined with their relentless upselling and inadequate support, has completely destroyed my trust in them. If you value your websites, rankings, and peace of mind, steer clear of IONOS.

Absolutely disgraceful! After being a customer for 15 years, I had $100 fraudulently debited from my account. When I caught it and reported the issue within 30 days, I was passed from one useless representative to another—six in total—each giving me the same runaround about needing approval from the “security team” for a refund. Five days later, no refund. So I called again, only to be told the refund was approved but not processed because the “security team” hadn’t unblocked my account. Are you kidding me? I wasted more time speaking to yet another clueless rep, who had no solution other than pushing the issue back to the same incompetent “security team.”

This company is an absolute joke. The CEO and COO should be ashamed. The leadership here either has no clue what they’re doing or they’re actively playing games with customers’ money. How does a company let its internal processes get this messed up? It feels like a scam when I have to spend four hours just to get back $100 that was stolen from me. The worst hosting company on the face of this planet. They cancelled my service because I purchased an SSL certificate, then changed my mind and decided I didn't need it. The next day, all of my websites were offline, I'm locked out of my admin account, and my FTP doesn't connect. When I was able to finally get in touch with someone there, I was told my account was suspended because of "suspicious activity", and that I'd need to contact their security team to have my products unlocked again. Tried to contact their security team for days and days, email, follow up calls - all to no avail. Was finally told that my service had been cancelled by the security team, that I needed to seek hosting "elsewhere", and that I had 48 hours to remove my websites and databases from their server. I was given no reason for this eviction, other than my account had "suspicious activity".

I've always paid my dues on time, I had quite a lot of services through Ionos, and several websites hosted there. All I can think of is that they didn't like the fact that I'd made a purchase, then decided I didn't want that $200 service and asked it be removed. That's the only explanation I can come up with, as their security team doesn't respond through phone interactions, the supervisor I spoke with was at a loss and said she had no idea why this happened, other than the security team "made a judgement call."

I had to beg them over the phone to ask the security team to let me have access to my account long enough to download my databases. Absolutely humiliating, and from a company I'd paid hundreds of dollars a month to for almost a year - I wish this was an exaggeration, but, unfortunately, it's the worst experience I've ever had with hosting and service in general. I would highly recommend not risking any service with them whatsoever - if they can just do this to someone out of the blue for cancelling a product, what's to stop them from, oh, say, deleting your entire website, or stopping your email service out of the blue.

Yesterday the guy said he recovered all the files which they expected me just "figure" out what to do with when I'm not a web developer, nor did I make them go bye bye to begin with.

I call them back today, the database is gone, deleted. Again, not by me. The website is not recoverable. Then the guy says to me "to set some realistic expectations, we only host the site, we don't manage it". I wasn't asking them to manage it, but I told him if it vanished, they're not doing the one job they have then, to host it. I told him to imagine going to a bank and your money that you had them keep safe for you was gone. Very rude and uncooperative, they won’t admit their mistake, and won’t return the $90, trying to cite terms and conditions. They were in breach of contract. This company should be sued. I have been with Ionos.com since it was 1and1.com, which unfortunately was when the site was easy to use and had upfront billing. I have 4 sites up with them, and 1 website parked so that I can put it online later, and have been on automatic payments the entire time (1 website for 10 almost years now). Today, I start getting calls from clients saying that my email is getting kicked back. I call up Ionos and they told me that the contract for the MAIN WEBSITE that I have with them was cancelled last year due to non-payment. This is the website for my construction company, which funds all of my other endeavors.

The woman I spoke to said that I was short a payment from last year for $49.90, EVEN THOUGH I’M SET UP ON AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS. She said that if I made the payment, they would get my website and email back up immediately. She asked for a screenshot of the payment, so I sent it to her. That was at 10 this morning, it’s now 2pm and I have been on the phone this entire time (listening to them talk in circles about why it’s my fault, not theirs). Their invoices don’t show what payment is going to what website and I have lost my mind (and temper) at this point. I can’t believe that they would do this!!!

While I do IT work, I use another hosting company that I've used for 15 years and I am very happy with (Hostmonster), Earlier this evening, I got an alert on my credit card that 1&1 had attempted to charge my card a $70 fee. I had never heard of them and immediately called my credit card company. They'd actually already put a hold on it for suspected fraud. They didn't say why - perhaps there had been issues with this company on other accounts. They had my card number, expiration date, security code, name and address - all my info. I have no idea who they are and how they got it, but this fake charge is downright scary. Reading the other reviews, I'm damn glad I'm not their customer. Very glad Capital One caught it, and very unhappy this company tried to steal $70 from someone who wasn't a customer.

I cannot even believe what this process has been! I have tried to cancel via the website where the contracts are hosted, via phone call (incoming and outgoing), and via email FOR MONTHS. I have made well over a dozen attempts to cancel for 6 months. I have requested, begged, and threatened to file formal complaints and write reviews warning others off, as I am doing now. And I keep getting billed. I see many reviews describing exactly what I have experienced, so this is clearly a standard business practice for Ionos and not an isolated error. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Their low rates appear to be due to unethical billing practices.

They only send you emails to renew that have numbers so you get to sift through all of your emails and heaven forbid you buy more than one thing because they send you 4 emails for every purchase. And of course if there's any issues they only send you an email with some numbers so if you buy domain names you never know which one they are talking about. Then I get on the phone to try to get a list of which ones are still active and the supervisor can't even figure it out after 40 minutes!

Now when you buy something together under the same number and you want to cancel one you think you cancel all oh no think again. You need to magically know that you were supposed to go cancel each one even though websites require domain names. So then 6 months later they send me to collections on a do not renew setting on domain name with hosting that went with it, and I obviously never used, and of course 10 calls later is still not resolved.

Unfortunately our domain was tied to an account that was closed and we lost the domain because IONOS does not have options to protect the customer when billing issues arise. We were told that our domain was in a redemption status and that the fee to get it out was over 100.00. They lied and said the extortion fees were created by ICAAN and that they had nothing to do with it. This is patently false. IONOS refuses to negotiate the punitive fees which are essentially blackmailing us. We have moved to another registrar and will never do business with this one again.

I got a $1 domain for my school project and didn't see the auto-renewal option set as it's takes many steps to check and I wasn't told about it. A year later on the exact date of purchase the auto-renewal kicks in and I get an email saying I owe $15,000 - yes to my shock I check the website and call - turns out to be a typo and it was $15 - I only got the email bc my card has expired in that year and they couldn't charge me.

I explained to customer service that I'd like to cancel as I don't need the domain anymore and paying $15 for the whole next year would be redundant - but they adamantly refused and gave some excuse of using a third party they they already paid for and cannot get back the money - This was on the exact date of renewal mind you. After numerous emails, they kept harassing me so I just paid it off. A company as big as them fighting for $15 from some shady tactics such as this is just disgusting. I've had smaller companies waiver bigger fees on reasonable grounds such as these. I'm sure they trick many other people in the same way and catch them with renewal fees as a means of making an extra buck. If I could give no or minus stars I would. IONOS is the first company I have EVER seen who deleted the DNS records in their system when a Domain name transfer is INITIATED instead of when it is COMPLETE. It's a swift kick in the rear on your way out the door with a steel toed boot.

The result is that you are left with NO ACTIVE DOMAIN ON THE INTERNET, meaning you can no longer receive email until you sort it out, and it requires a lot of hassle with the destination registrar. HINT: if you leave IONOS, make sure you carefully, MANUALLY DOCUMENT ALL your DNS records (thankfully I always do that just in case) AND, before you go, set the domain registrant email addresses all for a domain that is NOT the domain you are transferring - or, like me, you will find yourself unable to finalize the domain transfer via email confirmation because you will have no MX records pointing to your email server. It's like being stuck in irons (sailing reference). It SUCKS. These guys SUCK. They didn't even wait 12 hours before they deleted the DNS records from the time the transfer was initiated by the new registrar.

None of the cancel auto-renew buttons work. At first, I figured it's fine, let me try again later. A few days later they still don't work but I decided to play around first.

I created a website and checked out their dashboard. A few days later over the weekend, I start receiving emails of dozens of login attempts on the site that I created- they said that the IP address that tried to log in with the wrong password was banned. I ignored it because I was busy. I then log in again on a Sunday to check out the site again. The entire site I built was wiped. So strange- what's the purpose of having a hosting provider like that? So I decided to give up and cancel the whole package since I'm on the 30-day money-back guarantee. Guess what, though? The cancellation feature on their site does not work. It takes you through to the last page and says "We are sorry. An error has occurred." I've now blocked them via PayPal. Hope that works. Will try to cancel again later. Utterly pathetic, though. Complete scam.

This company is finding ways to take fees from you on issues that comes with their product. My admin panel and my site was down and I was not able to login to my website to fix it. I called my admin to fix the issue and she was not able to login to the site too so she contacted the company on chat service they have. The support team said that there are no ways for her to login to fix the issue with the SSL. (This was a plugin added to the product that was never active) somehow that inactive plugin caused the site to be blocked (ways for them to get your money). The agent on chat was not supportive (of course that's what you get from offshore agents). They started selling other products like (you need to get SSL cert $20 value) and that "we will need an admin on our side to login to the backend to check the issue" and that was $35.

With Frustration and no option to resolve, my admin agreed for $35 charge and to get the SSL cert for another 20. These guys came back and charged 90$ and additional 35$ and when I asked they said, 35 to check and 35 to fix. What a rip off. I tried maybe 6 times to contact their support center to talk to a manager and every time I ask for a manager, they put me on long hold and the line get disconnected all of a sudden. I sent emails to their support and they keep sending me a message that their admin will contact me. I don't know how to report this company.

I have used Ionos since they were 1&1, more than 8 years, without incident. Since they became Ionos, I have spent more time with tech support and solving issues than total in the 8+ years. Not only that, they disconnect you after you have held for half an hour, then tell you "oh, we weren't aware of that. Let us fix your issue". Why did they not apply an SPF to my domains? Apparently my emails have been going to receiver's junk boxes due to not having SPF applied to my domains, but I was only recently made aware of this.

I did wonder why my business dropped off, but never thought it could be because of something so simple that Ionos did not proactively add. They used to be the top rated hosting company, but they have disconnected my server for my website, let me other domains expire with no notice and now this. If this is considered "top notch" then we are all in trouble. When I asked the technician why this had not been done, he read the same sentence to me over and over, stating "an SPF has been added to your domains". Maybe he thought I was deaf....or stupid.

Don’t be lured by the low price. These greedy unprofessionals will allow your account to be charges that you have never made. They offer services as you check out and I always make sure to opt out of any add on. I started getting charged for various never requested services. I was also called from numbers in Georgia asking if I needed help with my services. I followed up on each call by calling Ionos. Each time I’d be told that the numbers weren’t there and they’d be blocking the number from calling me. What? How? The worst is the refund process. I have called them no less than 20 times explaining I didn’t need services I was being charged for and that I’d never ordered it to begin with.

What makes the service so non user friendly is that they won’t cancel any charges without taking you through so much personal information only to be hung up on. They go through great pains to get so much of your personal information, banking, and hang up. I’ve been told I’d be getting a refund only to not receive one. I explained my compromise issue after they alerted me! I was yelled at and told that I had been misinformed about cyber breach. They started a new account twice for me that I’m locked out of. Still no refund for services and products not ordered or needed.

I am supposed to speak to only ONE representative who never calls back. Archie. Supervisors I was told would call back never have. They fought with my bank very hard to get charges I never made restored. I was charged $69 for a product. After over verifying myself they still never justified the charge or told me what I was being charged for. They can’t. They don’t know who I am they tell me. I tell them ‘ then stop taking my money!’ They was so much time just to hang up on you. The company is so inept that I have an account service representative that is never avail and is the only one who can fix the issue.

This is a very scammy business. My bank blocked them twice and they created a virtual card?!?!? They are very rude as well. One rep kept falling asleep on phone and kept saying hold on. Don’t be lured by the low prices they offer. Go to Godaddy for example. They actually service the client. I’m not always 100% thrilled with godaddy but not for the same reasons. They are legitimately available and I don’t have to through one man named ARCHIE! Bottom line, they keep charging over a year after I asked them to stop. They stopped when the bank Blocked them and broke right through again, Horrible experience. I don’t even have any access to the accounts. They know this. Go elsewhere.

She explained I didn't even have to give any card information since I would not be charged. I wasn't sure how they got my info anyways but after hanging up I knew I'd have issues. I got an email saying I was charged $10 on my Paypal. I tried to call the number back immediately but of course it was only accepting voice messages. So I went online to cancel the service. But it wouldn't let me initially. So I waited a few more days and was charged another $15 on paypal. I went into paypal and cancelled the automatic payment to their company (which I hadn't set up in the first place bc I didn't give any card information).

I was finally able to cancel the package and still today I received an email saying that I had a past due balance that, if unpaid, would go to collections. Surely this was a mistake that would fix? I called and they asked for a pin. I explained there was no pin requested of me. I didn't have any account info expected the customer ID number on the email. After finally getting into the account with a temp pin emailed to me, the representative stated he could not give any credits but rest assured he would escalate the request and gave me a reference number. This company has ruined it for any cold calling company that wanted to give a "free" trial. I figured a free trial wouldn't hurt, but this company has proven me wrong.

DO NOT USE IONOS. I recently started a non-profit organization. I signed up for a monthly contract with them and paid day of signing up. A few days later they charged me for $65 which was nowhere in any of the agreements that I had signed up for when I did sign up. I reviewed all of the invoices and emails, everything said monthly. Upon calling, I found out that the contract had magically changed all on its own from a monthly contract to a yearly contract. I called my assigned CS Agent who was not helpful, telling me that there wasn't anything I could do. I then called their direct CS line and found out not only was there something I could do about it, but that the contract I had signed had no yearly option. I was told that they would be switching my yearly contract to a slightly more expensive monthly contract (only by $5).

I never received an invoice for this new monthly contract, but assumed that it wasn't an issue, but I was still receiving emails about not being able to take the $65 out, and eventually threatening to take down my site. I called concerned, but they assured me that it was no issue. My site wouldn't be taken down. I then received an email that said they would take my site down in 5 days. I called, they said I had nothing to be worried about. On the day that they were taking my site down, I received a warning that it was being taken down. I called, they said I had nothing to worry about. A few hours later my site was down. I called, they said it would be back up in two hours. Site was still down days later. I called, they said it would be back up in two hours. Site was still down days later.

Then I was called to be reminded that I have a charge that wasn't accepted, and when I started to explain that I needed help and had some concerns the woman on the phone with me HUNG UP ON ME! I called back, they said that there was a bug in the system that they were trying to fix, but it had been escalated. They recommended that I pay the $65 and be refunded. Okay, so let's try that. Days later, my site was still down and I wasn't refunded. I emailed my direct contact and she informed me that I couldn't get a refund until this "bug" was fixed. At that point I was tired of being scammed and decided to end my contract. I was surprisingly issued a credit for my contract (still waiting to see if I actually receive the full amount).

Now, as I'm trying to set up new hosting, I'm unable to receive my domain. I searched my website and found out that a seller in Germany (**, Germany also happens to be where IONOS is based) wants me to pay $198 USD to obtain this domain. Upon finding this out, I decided to call IONOS again, and ask to be escalated to the highest person possible. This was the second call I made this morning, because the first person decided not to respond after sitting on the phone together for almost 20 minutes. Because I called on a Sunday, I have to wait until Monday to find out if I'm able to get my business's domain back after I spent $250 on merch, business cards, etc with the website on it.

However for the past few years they started creating add on billing if your websites didn't meet their desired versions of software used such as php. It was very annoying. Then IONOS bought them out and it got worse. The last straw was without checking with me they canceled my contract, gave me a partial accounting credit on fee I had paid to renew that contract 2 months prior and then signed me up for a new contract that cost more and applied the partial credit and then billed me the difference on the new contract. For sure this is unethical and most likely illegal under any basic contract law.

I went ahead and moved my sites and canceled my account. Then in the process of canceling the account I made sure that I got an exact number I would be refunded for the billing dept. Today I got an email from them confirming the refund, it wasn't the number we talk about. They kept about 5% of the refund amount with no explanation. I would not recommend doing business with this company. In my experience their billing practices have been very predatory and opaque.

I was assured the fraudulent charge was reversed or credited back to me and would be received within 3-5 business days. I was told I would receive confirmation emails of the refund, etc. but I did not. I questioned how they gained access to my payment card and received no answer.

After receiving no documentation a refund was underway, I contacted the company the following day and learned nothing had been processed, but was assured it was processed that day. This became a vicious cycle with me being lied to by every department and representative I spoke with - including supervisors! I still have not received a refund for a fraudulent charge after two weeks which is in violation of their own company policy of 3-5 business days. They lie to cover themselves by stating it takes 5-7 business days for refunds but could not show this in writing.

Ultimately, yesterday, I was told by supervisor Todd ** that he/they (being the back office) had no idea when I would receive my refund and that it was a system 'glitch'. Even if there was a glitch, no one had apprised me of such out of the many representatives I spoke with to try and resolve this matter. I asked to speak to back office and file a complaint. Todd became indignant stating he is the 'customer-facing' point of contact for my case and I can not speak to the back office. I told Todd if there is a system glitch, I request they overnight me a check for my funds, considering the circumstances. He became indignant again nearly scoffing and stating the company does not issue checks. Also, Todd lied about his job title. I specifically asked what that job title is and he initially stated team leader. When I asked later in the conversation, he all of a sudden was a 'Retention and Sales Team Manager'.

Just a liar through and through is what Todd and all of them are. They are thieves, and I have unwaveringly advised them of the repercussions of first stealing my money, and second refusing to return it - fraud and theft crimes. But when Todd stated to me I am the ONLY customer of thousand customers this is occurring to, I concluded I was being singled out and retaliated against for reporting the fraudulent charges. There is SO much more to this tale of the FRAUDULENT LYING THIEVES called 1 and 1 IONOS. I still have received no refund to date, and it is unfortunate to have to enlist law enforcement involvement in this matter. DO NOT TRUST THESE THIEVES FOR ANYTHING. They steal your money and retaliate when you identify them as the fraudulent thieves they are.

Below are the names/job titles given for all the fraudulent lying thieves at this company I have worked with thus far. Leon ** - initial point of contact about fraudulent charge who failed to refund fraudulent charge as promised, Ivery - Retention, Reggie - My website, Erwin, Maurice - Cancellation/Retention - blatant liar who lied about refunding my funds that were fraudulently acquired; told me to call and ask for him with any further issues; called next day to speak to him because all he told me was lies and nothing happened as he said it would; pretended he didn't recall, became indignant, and rudely disconnected our call transferring me to a department that supposedly did not handle refunds. It was late and I just wanted the pain to end so I said "Okay I'll downgrade to 4.0." Then hung up and went to bed. Go to the site this morning and now the entire site doesn't load. Sigh. I look up my plan on their site and look at that...They do support 4.8. Back to the phone I go.

Get another Tier 1 who reads the notes and said "Well Sir, you were told we don't support 4.8." Yep that's what I was told but your site, the site I based my decision to host my site on your servers, says you do. I then had to help the agent navigate their own site just so he could see it. "Well Sir, it says we support ASP.NET 4.8 here. Can you use that instead?" Really?!?! I just said that's what I use. I repeat to the agent that the site was working yesterday morning and now it's not. You guys changed something. It's the exact same code now as it was yesterday. "Did you make any updates to the code Sir?" I actually had to ask if he was even listening to me. As I said I'm using the exact same code now as I did yesterday. One letter suggested, to renew your connection that means you pack your TV again and *send it to them and they will send the same TV* back to you with the new internet connection, in 1 month.

I decided to terminate the connection with them altogether and send them the TV after receiving sub-standards customer support and service, just to be again bombarded with letters written in German. First letter says that they have received the TV and router and now will reimburse me for the amount they charged, for the TV and the router in the first month. Still waiting. Second letter says I have to pay high 3 digit figure to them as they have not received the TV (a little too late to pull this scam now?). I've been trying to contact them since past 2 weeks but listening to "Baby" from Justin Bieber all my life, in loop would be a better alternative than being hung up on the face by the customer care executives because again no-one speaks English. In short, had I knew all this would happen before, I would have chosen a multiple diarrhea experience than to have got service from this company.

This company uses a fraudulent method to obtain customers. I know as I was scammed.

1 - They offer bargain priced domains to sign you up.

2 They failed to tell you that you also signed up for a premium website builder program.

3 - You must talk to their ignorant support staff who themselves do not know the scam.

4 - You cannot cancel too easily but if you do they withdraw the bargain domain.

5 - They are a Bait and Switch Scamster.

So much wasted time with these crooks. In the end I walked away with nothing but wasted of time.

They charge more than the cost of hosting for "extending support of outdated PHP" (which costs them nothing, and most people they get to pay it don't even need it.) It's "gotcha" billing. It's unethical.

Last year I bought a domain thru 1&1 for 99 cents monthly. I forgot all about it until I saw a deduction in my PayPal account for $116. I was totally shocked but I first needed to know what I bought from them. It took forever to find out because they told me I needed to give them my customer number. I told them I never had one as they never contacted me since I made my purchase in Sept. of last year. They told me they sent notices but I never got them. I went thru phone, fax and e-mail to get help.

Eventually I was told they sent communications to an address on PayPal (which I have no idea how they got). I told them that I hadn't used that address in over a decade as it was associated with an old website I no longer have. I told them what my current e-mail address was and has been for the past decade but they told me they were limited in what they could share with me as the webmail address was the only one they could communicate with me on. I repeated the same thing, saying I haven't been able to access that old mail account since my hosting with that site expired over 10 years ago and was not renewed. I told them to check their bounced e-mails file as proof I could not get whatever communications they attempted to send me. They gave me no indication whether they would (check their bounced mails).

Although I never expected I would get billed for a hosting package I never sought, I did originally tell 1&1 I would at least keep the domain. But since I could not get much help after numerous attempts, I asked for a total refund. Eventually they told me they would do so after I signed a statement stating that my current mailbox (an Inbox account) was my updated as my main account. I did so and faxed it to their billing and process depts. (whatever "process" is supposed to mean). I was told my refund would be processed.

Then a couple days later (keep in mind much of these communications are from October of this year) 1&1 asked me for my driver's license or passport. I said for what? I never had any previous host (GoDaddy, Webstarts, eHost, IPage, Host Gator, Site Builder) request such. I told them I would redact my SS # & driver's license # in faxing this stuff to them and they said that was fine but the more I thought about it, the more I got suspicious that giving them certain info would possibly jeopardize my security.

Since 1&1 has offices in Europe, I became even more suspicious about divulging more personal info to people overseas who might have access. As such, I decided not to do so and wrote my bank (which is the issuer for my debit Mastercard) to ask them to see if they could return funds to my account. Their fraud analyst looked into my case and agreed with me and thus has granted me access to the money 1&1 took out. I also could not get PayPal to hear me out in returning my seized funds but my bank Horizon did and they believed it was credible enough to reinstate them.

My experience is somewhat similar to what recent poster Isabel shared. I have had some not so good experiences with other web hosts but nothing comes remotely close to this. No one should do business with 1&1 IONOS. No host is this bad. I can't figure how anyone can stay in business doing what they do. But I can more or less echo to some degree what every negative review states. It is mostly true. I question the few who claim they are having a good experience in light of the vast majority who are. It appears 1&1 was a decent host not too many years ago but they are absolutely trash today.

I purchased a domain from them since it was very cheap and I was bootstrapping my business. The platform was clunky so I ended up not using it and letting the domain & hosting expire. They require to manually cancel renewals and I'm pretty sure I selected NO to auto-renewals. The company didn't care and went ahead and billed me an OUTRAGEOUS amount, 7x the original cost. PLEASE NOTE that 1&1 IONOS bills IN ADVANCE. The kept sending me a billing notice and then sent me a credit because I cancelled. After I received a credit I got another bill and a notification that I WAS SENT TO COLLECTIONS for a service that was NOT provided because they had already CANCELLED everything: e-mail, domain, and hosting.

Also, it's worth nothing. They kept trying to get money from me and kept billing my PayPal even though it wasn't authorized. It is OUTRAGEOUS that even though I tried to CANCEL an AUTO RENEWAL not only do I get charged, I get a credit, and then I get sent TO COLLECTIONS. I've reviewed their terms and conditions (EXTREMELY LONG BTW, must be because of all of the bad practices they engage in, they are trying to protect themselves at the cost of the CUSTOMER) and I simply CAN'T understand how they are still in business after treating so many of their customers like THIEVES AND VILLAINS.

I am very surprised by all these negative reviews. Personally, I tend to only leave reviews when I am infuriated, but I had such a great experience lately that I wanted to write a review for them. I have been a customer for several years now, having bought multiple domains and two hosting packages from 1&1, now Ionos. The domains are priced similarly with other sites but I think that Ionos has the best deal on web hosting. I was paying $59 a year ($4.99 per month). They also consistently offer deals for new domains.

I am not too savvy when it comes to all the web jargon, and 1&1 has spent hours on the phone with me, guiding me on how to transfer files between packages through Filezilla. They offered to do this for me for $70 but I declined and instead the customer service rep talked me through the entire thing. I've done that twice now. The most recent time was when I bought a package to host multiple domains instead of just one, so I had to move my old domain onto this new package.

Everything seems to be working smoothly. 1&1 does automatically charge you if you have recurring billing checked for each domain. This makes sense to me as you don't want to lose a website because you didn't pay a bill on time. They email you an invoice very close to the due date. I recently received an invoice for the single domain package that I had bought a year ago but was no longer using. In order to speak with a representative, you must set a time for them to call you back, at least a day later. They called right on time.

Unfortunately, I missed the first call and my account was charged for this service that I didn't need. I set another time for them to call back and when they did the call took less than five minutes. I gave them my account and invoice number, he verified that no domains were listed under this hosting package, and issued a refund in accordance with their 30-day money-back policy. I couldn't have been more pleased. Honestly, I was considering switching providers as my web design company has been growing, but I don't believe that I need to do that yet (there is a storage limit for all sites combined). I currently have 5 or 6 domains in my package. I take care of all customer service issues, and there really haven't been any major problems, I am happy to say!

At some point they were sold to IONOS at which point they randomly charged by credit card ~$120. I called to dispute and they told me there was nothing they could do, but that my plan had changed and that they were now charging annually. I asked to dispute and they told me I could switch to a monthly plan, receive a refund of what they'd charged me, and then I'd be able to cancel the monthly plan.

So I did what the phone agent suggested, they refunded my account (again a service I NEVER USE) and charged me ~$9. I went in to cancel the monthly service, and it turns out they had placed me on a one year contract! And now they're hitting my credit card every month, again for a service I NEVER USE and for which I NEVER agreed. I will be challenging this with my CC company, but also wanted to leave a review as a buyer beware. Avoid this company at all costs. I've provided mail.com my ID Card's photo and sent that photo via the original contact mail adress (the original and the first one, which hackers changed into another email) but mail.com's customer service just said they can't help me. I want to start first by saying I've done business with the original and many variations and changes to 1&1 over many years, spent thousands of dollars on urls, websites, and more. Dealt with billing, service teams, had challenges (not that technical) and always in the end been satisfied. Last fall, I fell behind on payments which caused my account to lock which meant I couldn't manage auto renews and cancellations and after a few months of back and forth they sent me to collections (during times of their two company merging, it seems).

Anyway, I paid a substantial and overdue balance to gain access and control to manage my domains and now almost all like 99% are gone since they cancelled my contract and they are not giving them back. THIS IS INCLUDING AND MOST INFURIATING THE DOMAINS PREPAID BEFORE THE BILLING HICCUPS FOR ONE OR TWO YEARS - so they hadn't expired and were prepaid by me - how can they take them? As I have called and emailed repeatedly, the most I'm hearing is - "if it's not too late and in certain instances, you could buy them back through us and go ahead and pay for another year!" What wtf what? If this is the final outcome - they are thieves and are taking the benefits of my years of paying for urls that are mine.

I recently have begun to correspond with a manager who I understand may be able to help if there is any possible - we'll see. Yes, I paid very very late - and perhaps lost should have lost those domains that I paid too late on but how could they/can they not return my prepaid unexpired domains - except if they are trying to take advantage of me and if by accident during the chaos of a merger - then why will no one straighten out this mishap. I spend more time calling Tech support than working on my site. The problem is they have far too strict security demand. 1. Can't see your password as you type it in. 2. If you get the very complicated password they force upon you wrong just 2 -3 times they lock you out. 3. Then the password reset is a joke as it sends you a link to reset but that opens a page demanding a 12 digit code which they never send you. You try this reset more than 2 times and they totally lock you out of your control panel. Even the tech support with remote view could not find the 12 digit code. 1&1 sucked but now with this really stupid company IONOS nothing works

I did not get any invoices. I got one phone call and told the representative I don't need the service anymore. 2 month later I get a call from a debt collector!!! In order to get out of the contract they wanted me to cancel it and still make a payment for a full year and told me they would refund me partially. Still waiting for the refund. I hosted a Christian church website with 1&1 for many years here in North Wales. But over time, their web hosting fees started rising rapidly. One month, I received several notices of increase charges. Because I didn't want to pass the hosting costs on to my church, and couldn't afford the increased costs myself, I decided to terminate my contracts with 1&1.

That was when the trouble really started. I expected to have to pay some sort of cancellation fees. What I didn't expect was that 1&1 would go after me for MORE money by means of a debt-collection company! Because I had had no previous experience with debt-collection companies, I stupidly paid the money: over £100 in all. I was simply afraid of having my credit rating blackened. Later, I discovered that the debt-collection company, Arvato, are intimately linked with 1&1 and that the best thing to do is to ignore their bogus requests for payment. You can check all this for yourself by simply type "Arvato 1&1" into Google's search box. Bottom line: avoid 1&1 like the plague.

This is the end of what has been 7 days of total hell having to deal with 1and1 internet. In my view this company should be shut down after what I have had to go through since last Monday 12th February 2018. It will actually take me hours to write up what has happened here so I hope that 1and1 can use all their documented notes and recordings of all phone calls in order to hopefully improve the level of service so that they do not cause another small business owner the level of stress and financial loss that 1and1 have caused myself and my business. I will be writing directly to their head of customer service Julian ** via the complaints@1and1.co.uk email to raise my complaint to the highest level possible. I simply find it absolutely disgusting a large multi-million pound business is allowed to operate and 'look after' so many small businesses.

On the surface, they look like they care and have good reviews, a picture of Julian ** which is featured on their email saying 'I wish you every success with 1and1' and a 5 star review should not be allowed to exist as it is completely false advertising. The fact that when you actual click on this link which says 'satisfied with our service' then take you to a callback page, you enter your number and then invites you to review 1and1 and leave a review and explain the complaint. You do this and then are invited to send your phone number for a call back about the complaint. You then receive the phone call and the person calling knows nothing about the complaint or why they are calling you.

This just demonstrates just one of the totally flawed systems 1and1 operate under. I can only assume this is setup in this way on purpose, to try and deflect the small business owners complaint. I would like to invite 1and1 to review all the notes on file for the acc. ** and then contact me directly to ensure that this matter has been closely looked into.

This started on Monday 12th Feb, when our business website and emails stopped working. Our domain name ** is (very unfortunately) registered with 1and1 many years ago. Unfortunately we had received no letter, email or any kind of correspondence that our 1and1 account was going to be suspended. On calling on the Monday to 1and1 we were informed that the account was suspended and that we needed to provide verification documents to prove ownership of the account. On request I sent my driver's license, this you never received and I was told I needed to wait 24hrs for you to be able to receive it - which is quite frankly shocking in the 21st century of electronic communication. Once you received the driver's license I was then told that this was not enough and that I needed to send proof of the business address in the form of a utility bill.

I sent this along with a 1and1 invoice that we have to prove our address and ownership. Again we were told we had to wait 24-48hrs for this to be received which is just unbelievable. Once you had confirmed you had received these documents, I was then told that your process team would be in touch within 24-48hrs. We waited until Wednesday and still nothing. We received our first email from process@ on Thursday 15th Feb, detailing that there was an outstanding balance of £13.19 on the account and that is why the account had been suspended. As detailed in the email sent by Jenna Dillane in the Process Team, that we would now receive an email in order to login to the account and pay the outstanding invoice and the account would be activated again. Despite requesting that the account be sent to this email as the email that Jenna set the account up was attached to the suspended account she still set this up incorrectly.

On email I requested it to be setup using this email (**). We then were able to get to a screen to login, at this prompt we realised we had no password setup and therefore called 1and1 support. We were advised at this point to request a 'forgotten password'. We did this and then reset the account only to discover this did not work. We then called 1and1 support again, and this was looked into further, with 1and1 testing why it would not work. We were then at this point told that we had to make payment of the outstanding £13.19 to your collections department before anything could be done. I find it absolutely staggering that we only found this out 4 days after the initial request was put in. If we had known this factor and were able to pay the outstanding on the Monday I would have assumed you could have activated the account at this point.

So on confirmation and payment to the collections team, I was then told on the Thursday that we would have to wait another 24-48hrs for this to be 'processed'. I cannot understand why when the payment has gone through and I have a receipt number that the account at this point cannot be reactivated or sorted out. It is now Friday 13.30 on the 5th day of this starting, and I have just called up 1and1. I had to wait 20 minutes on hold while the assistant looked into the issue only to have to explain everything to her again. Where all she said is that you have to wait 24-48hrs. And she was not able to answer the simple question of whether that was 24hrs from now or 24hrs from today. This has meant that my business has had no website or emails for an entire week. This has cost us dearly because of the total incompetence, false information, misleading messages, and lack of actually understanding what we are asking to get this sorted.

As soon as we get our account activated again and the domain names that we own re-established we will leave 1and1 immediately. I cannot understand why in this electronic age you cannot get your processes enabled quickly, and the fact that the amount of incorrect information we have been given along the way of this absolutely horrendous example of customer service and care has been allowed to happen. You are a multimillion pound company looking after small businesses such as my own, we have suffered greatly due to your terrible service here and it is quite simply so unfair and you should not be allowed to trade in this way. I will be taking this complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service with full documentation of what has gone wrong here. I hope on this 5th day that this can all be resolved although I have little faith in your services or customer support.

We have thousands of domains with this company and are no longer able to manage the cancellations because of constant timing out issues. It now causes us hours of lost time calling in then have this manually done. I have many tickets open over this extending over a year... Really terrible. I now have another open ticket ** which they said escalates to the top. The last I heard was "you have too many domains in your packages". OK... So then I ask for their help to fix this issue and they say nothing can be done.

So here we are with thousands of domains and no way to manage the cancellation process. We are even having problems adding more domains to our contracts. Not sure what is going on, but if I could move we would... Because so many domains are configured independently it is nearly impossible to move. Not sure why a great customer spending thousands of dollars a month is treated this way.

I queries why wasn't an email sent asking for further verification or warn of intent to delete same. They are apologizing and telling me that the mailbox was deleted and they only keep backup for 1 week. Our company placed an ad for a senior level position in our national newspaper on a Sunday, but an error was published and two characters switched in the domain name. This resulted in us purchasing the domain to offset this error. What company only keeps backup for a week??? This quality of service is ridiculous and their operations need to be audited and reviewed. Having a refund doesn't help in this case. POOOR COMMUNICATION. In their case 1 & 1 = -2.

I've never used 1&1's hosting, but have purchased 10-15 domains at one time or another, now I am down to three domains. Because I had problems with my Paypal account and 1&1 could not bill me, I logged in after years of just parking these domains and automatically paying my bill. I noticed I was billed for two domains, that I have canceled years ago. There was a clear note saying, "customer canceled" next to the domain contracts. Last year, a credit was issued back to my account on these two canceled domains immediately after the billing, so it looked as though the system was correcting itself. But I was still charged (and paid) for many years after cancellation.

I pointed the problem out to a customer service rep on the phone and he said I need to send an email about those prior years. I did not pay the outstanding bill for one of the domains, because the credit that needs to be issued for the years I was charged after cancellation of two domains would cover the cost of the bill (for a domain I am keeping). Since I was setting up a new computer and had other more pressing tasks to deal with, I postponed sending this email for two weeks. I would have written a quick email if not for the annoying detail of having to sort and match domain names with contract numbers. The invoices do not have the purchased domain name on them, just the contract number (of the purchase) and the more domains you have with 1&1, the more tedious the task.

After two weeks, I logged back into 1&1 and the whole site had changed. My canceled domains were no longer listed, so there was no record that I had canceled these contracts and the credits issued last year were also gone. It was revisionist history before my very eyes. Only thing that was still showing were the credits issued two weeks ago by the rep I had spoken to on the phone. When I called Customer Service again to get the email address, he shouted at me and said I never canceled the domains until last week. So there is now no point in sending an email, b/c everything I had to say would be rendered fictional since my account has been wiped clean of all evidence! I paid the outstanding bill so I could transfer my domains out of 1&1.

DO NOT Do Business with 1&1 (1and1.com)!! I used to have over 100 domains in my 1&1 portfolio, and due to their mismanagement and convoluted system (including but not limited to platform navigation, contracts and up-selling everything), one of my more valuable domains was accidentally cancelled and wound-up in redemption. When I finally discovered that and reached-out to them, I arranged for the renewal (in time) only to subsequently discover that it was dropped with no viable explanation provided. That domain is now listed for sale with Uniregistry.com for $1,395!! I thought 1&1 would do the right thing and arrange to have that domain transferred back into my account.

And so I reached-out to them with a detailed eMail and received a generic reply from their Solutions Manager stating...“Unfortunately, we are not able to re-obtain the domain name in question, as it is currently registered with someone else, but as a courtesy for the trouble, I have applied a credit on this account equal to a .com domain renewal ($15.17), to provide you with a domain name renewal for free for the year. This credit will be applied to any upcoming invoice from this account until the $15.17 is spent.”

Nice huh?? 1&1 had been inconsistent with their supervision and here was yet another example of their system failing me. Something like this would have NEVER happened just a few years ago when their supervisors were based in U.S.A. (Philadelphia) before moving their operations overseas. And so I cancelled my account and WILL NOT be using any of their other services (to build-out sites and monetize other domains, etc.). I'm already using a number of my other domains for affiliate-related businesses (which were originally listed with 1&1). Considering how many domains I had listed with them, that was undoubtedly a poor business decision on their behalf (taking into account all of the renewals and related business that was intended to go to them). As a satisfied client, I would have been happy to provide positive feedback on social media. Sadly, these reviews will reflect a negative experience.

I used 1&1 Internet for my business and it was easy to set-up and works great for my business. So when my peers from a youth program I help to run asked me to set-up a website for youth program, I recommended 1&1 Internet even though they wanted to Domain.com. 1&1 Internet advertises a referral program so I thought I would try it since I convinced the youth program to use 1&1 Internet. I set-up the new domain and instead of them creating a new account for it, 1&1 Internet added to my existing business account, even though the billing information was completely different. When I called them about it, they told me there would be a fee to transfer it to a new account and never answered my questions about the referral program. So then I spent many hours creating the new website for our youth program only to find out that the URL for the site was different than the new domain, very confusing.

I called and spent about an hour on the phone to get it fixed so when you typed in our domain it would go to the website I spent hours building. Later on I found out the emails for the new domain were deleted and I was unable to re-create them. I called again and the customer service representative told me that I needed to move the domain in their system but that the website would still be connected to the domain. I asked several times because I did not want to lose what I built. He assured me that when everything switched over in their system that I would be able to create the email accounts and the website would be linked to the domain.

About an hour later, I was able to create email accounts but the website did not transfer over, I called them back again. This time I was told that nothing was wrong on their end and they do not know why it was not working, so he had to submit a ticket for a Supervisor to look at and he told me that since it was Saturday night, that there were no supervisors in but that I could call back during the day on Sunday and they would be in. I called back on Sunday and I was told that none of the Supervisors were working today and they would not be in until Monday. I explained that I needed the site up and running yesterday due to marketing material that was going out and he stated that there was nothing that he could do. I am very frustrated and feel like the referral program was a scam to get more business. I wished we would have went with Domain.com and plan to change when my contract is up.

In January I attempted to have my husband's company domain moved to 1&1 so as to consolidate with my own. My domain has been with 1&1 for the better part of a decade, and I was once impressed with their customer service. As soon as I convinced my husband to come on board, I couldn't have been more embarrassed by 1&1's incompetence. Transferring a domain will usually render a website useless for a good 2 weeks while it changes hands and new contracts are processed. Once two weeks went by and our site was still not live online, I called 1&1, explained the situation, which I end up doing ad nauseam, and what I was told was something I would end up hearing a total of THREE times... "Ah, yes, ma'am. We need to 'start' by changing your current contract to include the new domain and to support WordPress, per your request..."

I effectively had to do exactly that THREE or FOUR times (I lost count) before it finally "took"!! And, no one seemed able to explain to me WHY. What went wrong the previous times we went through the steps of changing my contract? After the third time I heard someone say, "Yes ma'am, I can help you with that! Let's start by changing your conract...", and mind you, that was after being bounced around from department to department for 20 minutes. I asked to speak to a manager. I simply needed someone who knew what was going on to help me. Well, that's not exactly what happened. The manager apologized profusely and proceeded to go through the motions of "changing my contract" for me, so as to get our business website back online. No one seemed to appreciate that having a website shut down costs us revenue daily, and when it happens for over a month - due to incompetence - is inexcusable.

I felt better after hanging up the phone and patiently waited the additional week or so. The time came and went and... NOTHING. I mean, I was incredulous. I called, yet again, and was informed, yet again, that we needed to "start by changing ur current contract..." I was dumbfounded. I was frustrated and very stressed about the situation, but maintained my composure as well as my manners and professionalism... which is more than I can say about the MANAGER at 1&1 (the same one I spoke to before, "Michael"). He was short, rude, and dismissive with me. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. What kills me is that, at that point, I wanted to speak to someone ELSE, and Michael tells me he is the "highest ranking" in his department. "You have no boss?" I asked. "Yes, but they don't take calls, ma'am." That is just wrong. And, I have no idea if that is accurate.

He never explained to me why 1&1 FAILED to upgrade my contract 3-4 times while our website sat dormant. What's more, he dismissed my concerns multiple times with a heavy sigh and, "Look, at this point we can either try it again or you can choose to cancel your service with us. That's up to you, but I would really like to move on." -Speechless- "And, if what you want is to complain about me, you're gonna have to email..."

I found my voice after that. "Michael, can you not conceive that this is NOT about YOU? I don't WANT to complain about anything. What I want is for 1&1 to take care of me and value me as a customer! YOU can't seem to DO that, therefore, I have to find someone else! At this point, I am trying to cut our financial losses, do you not get that? Do you not care?" I ended up speaking to another customer svc manager who ended up helping me enough to FINALLY get my contract changed and my website back online. Since then, which has been just a couple of weeks now, I have had to call once more for some simple guidance.

I have had a website provided by 1&1 for a couple of years now. In October 2015 I took over the payments for the website and asked that a couple of extra items on the account be cancelled as I only wished to pay for my website. It then appeared that I was still being charged quite a lot so I brought this up with them. I was paying £29.99 a month for my website but then an additional £35.97 a month on top. I asked if I was being overcharged and the way they worded it made it sound that my website cost £65.96 a month.

I am not brilliant with websites and computers in general but thought that this must be the going rate and didn't really understand, nor did anyone breakdown the charges for me. I asked a number of times if I was paying too much and I didn't seem to get to very good responses nor a conclusion for my inquiries. It's now January 2017 and I found out on a Saturday that the £35.97 is for two other contracts that haven't even been used for over 12 months. I was told to contact the complaints department and that I'd get a refund for it.

I feel I've been misled into paying for something that hadn't been used when I stressed that all I wanted was a simple website contract. Now 1&1 are saying that I'm not entitled to a refund because I didn't ask for a cancellation of those contracts? But they made it sound that my website cost £65.96 a month and didn't explain that there were two contracts on the account but were not being used.

I've contacted citizens advice and consumer rights and am hoping to get this matter resolved as well as my money back. Had I known that the contracts were unnecessary then of course I'd have cancelled them and not carried on paying £35.97 extra a month for over 12 months but I've been misled into thinking that the extra £35.97 was to do with my website. I'm so confused and feel that I've been tricked. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
