This company dropped my insurance after a year for bogus reasons, then proceeded to bill my mortgage company anyway, causing my mortgage payment to increase substantially and now will not issue a refund.

As a loyal and outspoken customer of Lemonade, I talked highly of them to everyone that listened. I ran into a road block, been with Lemonade for 5 years now, and unfortunately had to file a claim with the crazy storms going on. Hasn't been going Well to say the least. I'm honestly too exhausted to say how much I wasn't helped and ignored, than to say anything good they did. I wish I could.

I recommend Lemonade to any and everyone needing insurance. They take care of claims in a timely manner. Communication could be better but they take care of you. They settled my claim in 43 days. I'm adding car and life insurance.

Lemonade dropped me after four years of on-time payments—not because anything changed, but because they’ve decided they don’t like insuring actual homes in California anymore. Their reasons? A house they've insured since 2021 suddenly became uninsurable because it's... has a pierced foundation (it always was), has PVC plumbing except for a few cast iron drains, and a 12-year-old EXTERNAL water heater that couldn’t endanger the house if it tried. We spent $6,000 on professional tree work and have the receipts—but Lemonade shrugged and said "brush proximity."
This is what cherry-picking looks like: using invented or exaggerated pretexts to quietly exit markets while pretending it’s about “underwriting risk.” Don’t believe the branding—Lemonade is just another insurer with a PR team and a pink app. If they can do it to me, they’ll do it to you. Insurance is about trust. You can't trust these guys.

The decision to exit certain markets or adjust underwriting guidelines is never taken lightly and is often based on broader risk assessments that can impact entire regions. In the beginning they promised to be unlike other stodgy insurers. They were going to save money with low overhead and a new Ai method of customer contact. They got great initial reviews, had low premiums, and we were enticed. Things have changed. Lemonade is still in the red but expected to be in the black by 2026. How? They are scurrying around trying to find ways to limit losses. A new tool is their required "self inspection" which is simply a way to cull out customers they don't want. Do you feel comfortable sharing pictures of the inside of your home? To me it's a privacy issue like giving driving data to an auto insurance company. You can get a discount with them if you do but can still be insured normally otherwise. Here it is required.

I had them for many years. I opened a claim and then closed it the next day since the deductible was high. They canceled my renewal due to more than $1M guidelines by the underwriter. I never had any claim and my mortgage and the cost of rebuilding will be less than $1M. I have escalated this and I am sure the company will face a lawsuit with these overnight decisions to cancel the renewal.

We had Lemonade for almost two years with no need to file claims. Then suddenly they decided to drop us because our area was going to cost them too much. They also dropped our policy on a SUNDAY without the courtesy of it being a business day. Would NOT recommend this company.

Lemonade did not renew my policy but they handle my claim properly. I wish there was no natural disaster in my area so I could stay with Lemonade for life. Keep up the good work. I recommend Lemonade for whoever is looking to get a good insurance from a great company.

I have worked in Mortgage for many years, when Lemonade came along with much lower prices many customers wanted to try it. I started with Lemonade last year and had no issues. I just got my renewal notice and coverage went from $1,600 a year to over $3,000. I have never made a claim, when I reached out to them they said replacement costs went up. I checked around with other companies and will not renew with Lemonade.

I had a pipe break in my apartment which caused my bamboo floors to pop up and mold. I submitted a claim and received a response the same day. The process was pretty easy, an inspector came over to evaluate the damage and I was approved quickly. Customer service was very helpful and supportive through the entire process.

I regret getting Lemonade home insurance. I would not recommended to anyone. Pay premium but don't make any claim, even if it is a small claim, or your policy will be cancelled. One small claim and they refused to renew my policy. First claim in over 40 years.

We are currently displaced due to a pipe bursting and collapsing our ceilings. It’s anticipated that we’ll be in a hotel for several weeks until all the work is complete. From the moment I tried to file a claim to date, this place has been nothing less than a nightmare. Nobody should ever have to experience grief on top of grief when dealing with an unexpected disaster and their insurance company. I just filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and I’m filing with the PA Insurance Commission. This company is out for SELF GAIN and has ZERO respect for their customer's situation. I know for a fact a lot of the things they’re doing have to be illegal in the insurance practice. Save yourself the grief and get covered under a reputable business. Their name Lemonade speaks for itself.

I have been using Lemonade insurance since we purchased the home in 2022. We have had nothing but difficulty with this insurance firm, and we have not even had to file a claim. Poor communication and policy renewal issues have been a constant issue. They have overcharges, tried to cancel my insurance due to an error on their part (they admitted to both and apologized), and have repeatedly asked for documentation that has already been provided. The only way to communicate with the company is via emails that are from a bot, or via bot chat on the poorly designed smartphone app.

Been with Lemonade about 5 years, very happy with them. No claims. One annual premium increase consistent or below other home insurance companies presumably due to California wildfires. Easy to deal with, I like the AI format, no agents to arm wrestle with.

Avoid Lemonade Insurance at all costs. My experience with them has been nothing short of a disaster. My claim was closed without my knowledge, consent, or any resolution that addressed the actual cost of repairs. Despite repeatedly reaching out via emails and calls, my assigned adjuster has completely ghosted me. Their blatant lack of professionalism and accountability is appalling.
The settlement they offered wasn’t even close to covering the repair costs—just half of what is needed—even though I submitted detailed evidence and multiple quotations. To make matters worse, this was hurricane-related damage, and the scarcity of contractors means delays are critical. My contractor is fed up with the runaround Lemonade has created, and I am now at risk of losing them entirely because of this company's refusal to act quickly or responsibly.
Lemonade's complete disregard for urgency and fairness is unacceptable. They’ve made a stressful situation exponentially worse, and their incompetence and indifference should serve as a warning to anyone considering their services. When it comes to insurance, you want reliability—Lemonade is anything but. I deeply regret choosing them and would never recommend their services to anyone.

I got Lemonade Homeowners Insurance when I bought my first home. Sadly we had a horrible hailstorm in the same year. It took Lemonade 2 month to approve the claim in which time I had a tarp over my roof and continued water leaks. That was one issue! Now they trespassed my property without my notice with a drone to do a property inspection. Months later I received an email that my policy will be canceled due to the finds of the inspection. No warning! No letting me know there will be a drone around my home. I could have been nude sunbathing and they could have just taking pictures. No email saying I need to correct the issues or coverage will be canceled. I truly feel violated in my own home.

Horrible, dishonest company. Agents are ignorant and rude. You will be asked to pay for your own roof inspection to even receive a quote. Buyer beware. They claim to be easy to work with but agents are either AI or unable to help answer any of your questions. They will pass the buck to other agents and you will wait a lengthy time for response unless you constantly email them.

Complete waste of time and comfort to use them. I was a customer for years, then in a cost cutting measure made me take photos of my house, valued at nearly $2m and said my water heater was too old. This is after 5 years of insurance with no claims. The gentleman below was completely useless..

Our family experienced some damages to our roof due to a recent storm. We reached out to our insurance company, Lemonade Insurance, and they quickly went to work on our situation to see if damages were coverable. Maurquez ** an agent from Lemonade Insurance was assigned to us. He was very knowledgeable, caring about our situation and quick to respond and walk us through entire process. Lemonade Insurance and representative ** sent out an adjuster to view damages and afterwards approved us for help and assistance in a matter of days! I have roof damage on my house. Homeowners coverage took 30 days to send out a 3rd party adjuster. They approved my claim for the surface damage on the roof but refused to look at the underlying damage of the trusses and the wet ceiling until my roofing company submitted a supplement. My roofing company has been trying for the past month to submit a supplement but they can't reach anyone by phone or email and no one will return the messages. GHOSTED!

This company constantly had technology issues which made the platform either unusable, or prevented me from processing my payments/adding new cards. They were unresponsive and unhelpful - I had multiple experiences where representatives were outright disrespectful. I’ve never felt less valued as a customer and after hearing horror stories from friends about how difficult it was for them to process claims and ultimately they did not receive reimbursement pursuant to their property value and policy information, I will absolutely not be renewing my policy and will find a more trusted, credible, and experienced company for any of my insurance needs.

Lemonade is a bait and switched. We used them when we bought our house and have paid everything on time with no claims against our property. All of a sudden we get a request for a self inspection... Ok no problem. I follow all the steps and bam they drop our coverage.. Why you may ask... because my hot water heater doesn't have a serial number on the sticker... Unacceptable service. DO NOT USE LEMONADE.
