AIG had me complete an online application, then i had to complete the exact same application when the examiner came out, but this application was handwritten, not digital. Then 3 weeks later, I get a letter telling me that I haven't completed my application and the process would be cancelled. I called the sales rep, and guess what. He sent me a link to, yep, you guessed it, the same application I filled out 2 times already. Fine. I filled it out yet again and poof. Off into the ether.
3 weeks go by again and I receive the following letter: "Dear Mr **. Since we have been unable to finalize your application request, it is necessary for us to close your file at this time without any life insurance coverage in effect. If you feel we shouldn't be closing your file at this time blah blah blah." So I call customer service. They proceed to tell me that I'm missing information on the application submitted by the examiner, to which I reply, "What about the 2 other applications I filled out with the same questions? Can't you get the answers from them?"
She proceeds to explain to me that the applications are not the same and I need to supply responses to the examiner application. By this time, I'm pretty mad and to make things worse, the CSR starts arguing with me on the phone. Imagine if something did happen to me. What would my wife have to go through to process a claim? STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THESE GUYS AS POSSIBLE. THERE ARE DOZENS OF OTHER LIFE INSURANCE COMPANIES OUT THERE WITH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I am a policy-holder with AIG, for Accident & Injury. Nearly 3 yrs ago I lost my right eye in the care of the NHS. A artery was cut by an awful accident and I bleed inside without knowledge for quite a time, & was permanently blind in right eye. But before I was told, I had to have 2nd operation to relieve a lot of pressure that was around my face & head. It was so painful, it still haunts me every day. I got a claim form & sent it back to AIG. They told me a few weeks later that my claim was no good. AIG sent me £150.00, as the adjuster who told me acted rude & upset me.
Nearly 3 yrs later & after the NHS sent AIG a letter saying they are responsible (NHS), my claim seems to be getting looked at. AIG told me to get the NHS to send them the letter of liability & they did. AIG are now questioning the letter. Even though they've had the FACTS all this time. I don't get it. AIG have gave me so much hurt, grief, no self-esteem & sleep loss, and I have 2 disabilities now and AIG know this. It's just excuse after excuse when I get IN TOUCH with AIG Insurance. I don't feel any insurance or their kindness, as they indicate in the ads.

I had a travel insurance plan with AIG. Initially I was told "cancel for any reason" policy would give me half of my policy money but now they say, I purchased my insurance with an INTENTION to cancel it so "cancel for any reason" doesn't apply... This is absolute fraud. Thank you AIG I will never ever buy your policy and let any of my 1000 Facebook friends buy this policy.

AS a former agent at AIG I wrote several large life insurance policies and recently realized I had not received over $10,000 in commissions due. I spent three weeks on phone trying to obtain a simple premium history and commission history and they kept switching me to different depts or saying they could not help me as it was too long ago, which is incorrect. Any insurance company can produce a history of premiums paid in. I guess they will find it when I have a lawyer contact them. They should not be allowed to sell insurance.

As others have said, I also signed up for an insurance quote online and have since received an endless stream of spam to my email account all with different email clients but all have AIG at the beginning of each address. I also had an increase in unsolicited telemarters but don't know if there's a connection. Anyway I will never use AIG even if they are not even involved in this spamming scheme.

I think it was unfair my mom paid into AIG and stopped paying her policy for a mos then it had to be rewritten as she paid into over almost a year. Upon her death I was told she was 2 mos short of having her funeral expenses paid. Even though they were aware of her medical condition, AIG seems to be stating something a medical condition that the policy didn't cover contributed to her death. In her medical records. They did not pay funeral expenses.

I have accident & disability policy through AIG. Had a call from the claims dept. saying my husband's claim was denied. Informed me that my husband's disability happen prior to the start of policy in '07. My husband started receiving SSI in 13'. I asked where they were getting info. Did they check the doctors’ reports? The claims Dept. said they hadn't received yet. But she was still going to deny. Claims said I could call main phone # and see if I could collect on doctor office visits. What a joke. Money paid in and no coverage. Cancelling policy. You need to too!!!

I called to get a whole life quote. "Chris" told me my only option was an accidental death policy. I said I didn't want that, told him so, and he just kept hammering away and wouldn't let go. "You mean you don't love your wife? If you truly loved her you would buy this policy" - on and on. He got very belligerent. I realized this was a high pressure sales technique and kept telling him I didn't want that policy. Took me 10 minutes to get off the phone. This guy was tenacious. Made me really angry.

I bought a policy in case I ever was in a accident. Well I was and unfortunately for me I lost my left hand. So far it has been 4 months and 2 days and no one knows anything about me. AIG finally placed it with a person 3 months ago so every time I ask for a update all I get is another form that someone has to get filled out. My last form from AIG, they wanted my past 10 years doctors records.
What would 10 years doctors records have to do with my accident? I bought the policy in good faith that if I ever needed it, it would be there and at this point I really do not care anymore about aig or their policy. All that's left for me is to get legal advice. I would hate to know I passed away and my family was forced to deal with Aig. It’s really not a good company at all. Please be aware not to buy a accident policy from AIG. Thanks for reading. (P.S if someone knows a good attorney please let me know.)

When disaster hit my children and I (disabled widow) became homeless. Wells Fargo ganged up on us too. After MD did nothing to help us I find one the government site Travelers let our abusive stalker sell the home I proved I paid for, and gave him $133,000 for it. The sale was illegal too. Travelers told me to google **, their guy, to find and sue him. I got copy of checks forged with my name and police cannot even get a subpoena for document from the state's atty. office. Stay away from AIG, Travelers, Wells Fargo unless you have the money already. All lawyers that would speak with me said they work with Fargo, Travelers, etc. No go. Conflict of interest.

I tried to get life insurance with AIG. The company has a rule that if you have been treated for anything drug- or alcohol-related, the only way to get a policy is to have quit drinking for at least five years. I had been sent to alcohol abuse treatment seven years ago and I hadn't stopped drinking since then. They couldn't issue me a policy. It's their rule, and I left it at that.
A few weeks later, someone called me back and asked why I hadn't finished the process of buying a policy. I politely told him that I can't because of their policy, and until they take that on a case-by-case basis, I am simply not a candidate. He then literally told me that all I had to do is SAY that I haven't had a single drink since then, and I could have a policy. I told him that I didn't appreciate him telling me to lie, and he said that he wasn't, but then he kept telling me to get a policy by lying on my application.
First off, I wouldn't want any business at all from a company who tells its customers to lie to get what they provide. Secondly, this is a terrible scam: if someone fell for this and they were granted a policy, as soon as they died, AIG would do an investigation and find out that the policy holder had not, in fact, quit drinking (which they already knew) and then they wouldn't pay a dime to the family that thought they were covered! I hope this company fixes its ethics.

They sent a form for her to fill out and she sent it back but no response. We attempted to call several times and then finally, they transferred us to a supervisor.
To make a long story short, the supervisor took our information and never called us back. She said try to call her back but it's always a voicemail. I called the toll free number often times, got a rep and faxed a copy of the direct deposit form attention to the supervisor's name. The rep said he will make it a first priority to call me or my grandmother back but I never got the call. It's very frustrating; still no help. My grandma is in the hospital stressed out. Now 6 years later, my daughter and grandson are without the insurance payout and being fobbed off with any excuse they can make. The interest alone on the money she should have received would probably last her a lifetime but, still, even now, she has to struggle and deal with AIG as well. My mother passed away in August, 2008, leaving a $10,000 life insurance policy to pay for her burial expenses. My sister and I are both named beneficiaries on the policy. The funeral home completed a good portion of the necessary forms, which included (if you can believe it) a Claimant's Proof of Death, an original Death Certificate, An Absolute Assignment Form (so they could be paid), A NOTARIZED copy of the obituary (whew...good thing we placed one of those!), the original OLD policy (they changed company names), the original current policy and an itemized bill from the mortuary. After 4 weeks, we just received a request for proof that my wife is who she is, proof that my sister-in-law is who she is, and ANOTHER Claimant's Statement for the S-i-L. When I asked the representative how I might contact the regulatory agency that governs their company, she asked that I send THEM a complaint first. Bottom Line...If you don't have AIG, DON'T GET THEIR INSURANCE!!!!! If you do, best of luck deciphering what you have to do to make a claim.

I bought a disability policy from aig through my mortgage company citimortgage. On 11/06/07 I fell out the back of a truck while at work. I shattered and split my tibia bone down the middle, and broke my wrist and elbow. I had a surgery to try to repair my leg. They put 9 screws and 3 plates in my leg. As of today 10/15/08 I still cannot walk. My doctors say I will never walk without a walker and probably have to lose the leg within 5-7 years because the bones were so shattered and mangled the surgery did not work. My cartilage is now deteriorating and my knee is unable to bend. My only hopes are I found a specialist who wants to try a tibia bone transplant and total knee replacement (if successful, will relieve 50% of my pains and I may walk with a cane). This will only work until the new knee quits working (7-10 years). Then they will have no other choice but to remove leg.
MY DOCTORS HAVE SENT AIG ALL OF MY RECORDS AND 2 LETTERS stating I am and have been and will be TOTALLY DISABLED AND WILL NEVER WORK. Aig has denied me twice saying to be totally disabled, I must HAVE A LIMB REMOVED. When I first made the claim, the lady said if you are disabled by ssi terms then you will be disabled. As for aig, losing a limb would be a dismemberment policy. I BOUGHT A DISABILITY POLICY.

I am the Power of Attorney for my Grandmother, and she has two life insurance policies with AIG with a face value of $1,000 each. She purchased one policy in 1963 and has been paying $3.91 a month. The second policy was purchased in 1975 and she pays $6.96 a month. I called AIG Customer Service in Nashville to find out how much the policies were worth, and was told that if she cashed them in she would only get a minimal amount of money way less than the $1,000 face value on each policy. When she passes away she would only get a total of $2,000. My Grandmother has paid in a total of $4,737.12 for two policies that will only pay out a total of $2,000 at her death, and she is still required to make monthly payments. She has paid $2,737.12 over the face value on the policies.
This is a huge injustice to the policy holders, and the loved ones they leave behind. AIG has already made $2,737.12 in profit, and they continue to collect the premiums. My Grandmother is living on about $900.00 a month Social Security which pays for her Nursing Home, so really she only gets about $40 a month to buy necessities that the Nursing Home doesn't provide. She could really use the extra money to pay for some of her medications that Medicare does not cover. How can an Insurance Company get away with this?

Then they said that I had to have the documents and their form notarized. Then they said that there is a new form. Then they said I had to provide original copies of the death certificate. Then they said that I had to get a court order because someone else is contesting the distribution. I have talked to all the beneficiaries of the trust and none of them have contested the trust. It takes them a month and a half to respond with new requirements so it has been a year and they still refuse to send us the $90,000.00 they owe us. The claim has been denied because he became ill. The reason is his death was before a two year period after the update. The reason for life insurance is to cover final expenses and to take care of family members that are left behind. This is unfair and should be illegal. Companies like this should have to pay for what they inflict on families who are grieving and struggling financially.
I am disabled and I am having to pay for a funeral bill that should have been covered. The stress of all of this is just about too much for me to deal with. The financial burden as well as the loss of my husband is very hard.
