We had a water leak issue in the basement in a row home. The first adjuster was sent out to check the source of the leak. He could find nothing, so said that he would suggest Leak Detection Services to come out and check the source. The water was most probably coming from the neighbor's side and they were not co-operating when the adjuster wanted to check their basement too. After 5 days of getting no response, I called the claims person who is supposedly handling my claim and did not hear anything from him. There was no response to my voice message and a day after this another adjuster called saying the first adjuster lost all the information and was sent to Florida for work.

The second adjuster came along and from the beginning suggested that we go to court and get a judge to write an order stating the non-cooperation of the neighbor is making it hard to get to the source of the problem. So we immediately knew he was not on our side. He said the Leak Detection people couldn't do anything unless the neighbor cooperated. He said he would submit a report within 5 days. Two weeks went by and there was no call or feedback from them. Once again I called and left a message because apparently Jonathan **, the claims person is never available to take calls. So I sent him an email to respond with a feedback. He called later in the day to say there was a system error and the second adjuster could not submit the report and I should hear from CSAA in the next two days. It has been 6 weeks since the claim was opened and nothing has been done.

Now we know that the excuse of the first adjuster's loss of information and photos were all a hoax. They did not want to spend money to send Leak Detection Services. First reason was loss of information and the second reason was system error. We pay premiums for years, decades and this is how they deal with customers. I will never recommend CSAA to anybody again.

I had insurance with them for 3 years. I have my regular home and a rental, they uninsured my rental without telling me. In fact, it took a year till I found out that my rental home was not insured. Even though I specifically asked to have both houses insured and they said that both were insured. The lady who I talked to even lied to me and said that I had canceled the insurance for the rental. I asked her to show me proof of when I cancelled, since we have the documents and recordings, she immediately got nervous and told me that they could fix it, no fee right away. My rental was without insurance for a year, luckily, nothing happened but it could have been worse. Their customer service was horrid. I went in person to talk to the manager and they never apologized. They just simply told me to cancel because it would be better. They didn't even try. Not a single apology. Bad customer service, bad insurance.

Lets me say this, I always had Home Insurance/Renters Insurance for over 10 years. I thought AAA was the TOP Insurance Agencies out there, so I decided to get AAA in March 2017. Then the worst hit Me, so I needed to filed a claim. My 1st claim ever!!! AAA gave Me the worst & I mean the WORST customer service. I got yelled and cursed out by one of their claim adjustor. I sent all my proof, pictures & I even got a police report. AAA Insurance Department gave me the runaround, then denied my claim when I did everything correct. Dealing with AAA Renter's/Home Insurance Department gave me a bad experience and I will NEVER recommend ANYONE to get their Home Insurance/Renter's Insurance... That area from ME, get two thumbs down.

We have had AAA Homeowners Insurance for 20+ years and had never filed a claim until January of 2017. During a remodel we rented a "POD" and placed household items in the pod for safekeeping. The POD was broken into and a lot of our items were stolen. We filed police report and a claim with AAA for reimbursement. The claim was processed in a timely manner so that part went well.

However, a month or so ago our insurance was due to renew. Our policy cost went up and when I asked why I was told that this was automatic when a claim is filed and that the cost of our policy would be increased for two years, standard procedure. We feel this is not exactly playing fair. I pay policy premiums for 20 plus years but file one claim and it's an automatic $$ raise in policy premiums? Not happy with that at all. Oh and NEVER rent a pod. After the break in we kept a watchful eye on it and attempted break ins were repeated. At least 3 more padlocks were broken before we got rid of it. Never again.

She can't keep up with her words or promises to clients despite her boss, John, instructed her what to do. Both of us, my husband and I, for food expenses per month (31days) is <$400 and we are living in a Bay Area. What is the point to submit adjuster LaPorche all the receipts but she doesn't care? All we are asking is our food reimbursement $$$, not credits or anything else. I need help. Where or what else should I do to protect my rights? PLEASE Advise!

I recently damaged my tractor while using it on my property. I submitted a claim and it was denied. They told me my claim was denied because it did not meet the NAMED PERILS conditions of my coverage. There are 17 very specific conditions under which they will approve a claim and the damage to my tractor does not fall into one of them. This information was not given to me at the time of purchasing insurance and never mentioned until after they denied it. Out of curiosity I checked with another insurance company and with the exact same language in their contracts they would pay such a claim.

In May 2017, the water hose to the ice maker detached leaking water all over the kitchen floor. As a result, there was damage to the Bamboo floor in the adjacent dining room, the kitchen cabinets, drop ceiling in the downstairs family room, etc. We have a higher end condominium, which was remodeled five years ago. From the get go CSAA gave us the runaround. First, they accused us of claiming none existent damage. When the noticeable nature of the damages made their argument a moot point they wanted to fix the Bamboo flooring with a 30 square foot "patch" in the middle of the dining room and buffing the rest of the floor to blend in. Our contractor explained to CSAA that Bamboo is an extremely hard wood, which cannot be sanded. The floor also has a baked on factory finish.

That is when the CSAA reviewer recommended the contractor engage ITEL to locate the same floor somewhere in the US and use it to affect the repairs. Unfortunately, ours is a glued down, tongue and groove, flooring system. It is impossible to simply remove and replace a section of floor in the middle of a room. In addition the floor is continuous no breaks no thresholds. Next, the reviewer recommended my contractor rework the floor planks by removing the tongue and groove. Seriously? A person with even the slightest knowledge (forget common sense) would never propose such a ridiculous option. The floor distributor issued an opinion saying the alteration CSAA recommends alters the product from its original design defeating the purpose of the tongue and groove system. It also voids the flooring warranty.

A short while ago I spoke with the adjuster (withholding her name out of respect for our profession). The adjuster confirmed she has received everything she needs from the contractor, the distributor and me. Now the next step is to go back to the mystery reviewer to be sure he agrees with the contractor and the distributor. In addition, the adjuster will not even provide me with a definitive time line for resolution of the claim.

Obviously, CSAA does not plan to honor the promise they made to us. Clearly, they would not care less about our property or us. They will continue with the borderline unfair claims practices. But Newsflash! CSAA I will NOT go away. And for every minute of irritation and frustration you cause me, I will cause you bad publicity, loss of goodwill and future revenues tenfold.

I have been a member of AAA insurance since I was 17 (nearly 50 years) - roadside assistance, auto insurance, and homeowners insurance - any one to all three at various times. Now I want to quit all contact with them because in the past 15 years, every time I have needed to file any sort of claim, their service has gotten worse and worse. It is clear that they no longer value my membership as they used to. As I read other reviews, it all seems deja vu, and it is clear that their conduct towards me is not much different from how they treat others.

Currently, I am trying to collect from a massive home flood (7 days of a broken refill valve in an upstairs bathroom causing 90,000 gallons to water to cascade down the walls and break apart ceilings). The total $$ damage was about $90,000 (rough estimate), and at least $35,000 in personal property. My policy provides for full replacement, although it doesn't seems that they are paying attention to that detail.

When I came home from a week away (half my home had been destroyed from the flooding), I found out that AAA had terminated my HO insurance nearly three years prior when my ex and I separated. They took it upon themselves to change the policy name to her name and the address to her address. Then because they decided that my home was not being occupied (I had concurrent roadside assist and auto insurance to the same address), they sent her a note that the policy was being terminated. She called them and told me what was happening (I didn't remember any of this until I looked through our old records), and she informed them of their mistake. They were not convinced, so I called to confirm, and never heard anything since then. AAA cancelled the insurance anyway.

It took two months for the state Dept of Banking to adjucate that AAA needed to reinstate me. By that time, I had already contracted for much of the repairs. Never-the-less, they sent people to look at the damage. But, I was told that they would not look at the hundreds of photos which I or other family members took as they loaded two dumpsters with destroyed items. Nor would they examine photos of the furniture as it looked prior to the flood.

Consequently, they were willing to pay me $1500 for an antique double drop-leaf dining room table, but when I showed them two photos of exact duplicate tables being sold for $5000 (a third table was offered for $9000), they decided that I was being uncooperative and they insisted I get an outside Appraiser. Oops, I'm jumping ahead of the story because that happened three years after the flood. Yes, they procrastinated for two years by not answering my questions before they basically quit paying for any further claims.

I spent over one year trying to get them to itemize an $11K supplemental check they sent me when I pointed out that they had not included a number of repairs in their estimate (how could they? When they were not there to see that actual damage when had occurred or the quality of the kitchen cabinets?) For instance, they had estimated about $10K for kitchen cabinet repairs, but it cost me nearly $20K. When they finally sent me a copy of their original estimate with the changed lines highlighted, I pointed out that the changes didn't equal the check amount, they ignored my letter.

When it was clear that I would never get an exact accounting of their check (NJ law requires an easy-to-understand itemization of payments), I submitted the remaining home repair receipts only to learn that they had closed the case for home repairs (even though I had told them there were more receipts pending). I am still trying to get them to pay for the remaining amount. I should point out that they have no qualms about lying to me.

They were only willing to pay $200 to repair my hardwood foyer (they assumed depreciation, because they were unaware that my floor looked great because I had it redone 2 years prior), and all the estimates were $1000. So I insisted they send their own guy out to do the job. Eventually (6 months later), a guy came out who said that not only would I need a new floor, but might need to replace part of the subfloor. I told him to go ahead and get the job done.

When I didn't hear anything for four months, one of the adjusters suggested that I get my own guy to replace the floor, and the adjuster gave the OK to the preliminary estimate. When I contacted AAA two months after the job was completed to find out why they were balking at paying the floor guy, I asked what happened to the guy they sent out. I was told that he had submitted a proposal to me and was waiting for me to decide when floor color to use. When I contacted the guy's company, they told me that they had send a proposal to AAA only and were waiting to hear back from them. I caught the guy in an outright lie! I could tell more anecdotes, but I think you get the general idea.

Before my last receipts for home repairs had been examined, AAA offered me $18K to settle. I turned it down because they neglected to include the home repairs and any other expenses I had which they subsequently decided they weren't going to pay for. I retained an attorney and consulted a number of other attorneys. Basically, I probably don't have a legal case because the statute has passed.

The AAA point guy decided to continue to contact me directly until a few weeks ago when he must have decided that I am stirring up too much dirt by contacting the adjusters also, so he wrote to my attorney (and copied me) that my attorney was to tell me not to contact anyone from AAA directly. HA! I told him that he never bothered to have the AAA attorney contact my attorney, he was the one who decided that it was OK for a lay person (me) to speak to him, and it was obviously OK for him to speak to my attorney.

Over six months ago, AAA offered to continue negotiating with me or to have us both engage the services of professional Appraisers. I told the point guy that I wanted to continue to negotiate (we hadn't negotiated much at all, in fact), but he then ignored that he offered me this option. Every response from him now is calling for my Appraiser. I have offered to accept his prior offer of $18K (which was exactly the amount of money they had planned to pay me when, and if, I replaced all the items I had lost), but despite email evidence, he is denying he made this offer.

I have no plans to replace ALL the items which were destroyed in the flood. My needs have changed (for instance, I am now single with no children living here), so it would be stupid for me to purchase the full sized dining room furniture I used to have. But, my policy guarantees full replacement value, and they are unwilling to pay me more than the value of the wood planks. I would never ever again do business with AAA. When I was younger, AAA was known for its great customer service and its superior service. Clearly, they no longer wish to live up to their reputation.

DANGER! DO NOT GET INSURANCE WITH AAA!!! They have a continued reputation of denying rightful claims (read the 3000 complaints). When you pay your premiums you anticipate that they will be there for you when you need them to protect you from financial ruin. Not the case! They take your money and do nothing in return but add tremendous hardship to your life. We have had multiple policies with AAA that included 2 life, 2 homes, auto, and a membership for 13 years. I have never had to file a claim before until this year.

In January 2017, our house in Michigan had a pipe burst 12 hours before the closing of a sale. It seemed impossible that this could happen... the one in a million. We were devastated. Within the hour we called AAA and submitted the claim with hope that they would help us repair the water damage allowing us to get it back on the market to sell. The water damage was extensive and ran down all 4 levels of the house. Mitigators came, dried it out, and gutted everything that detected moisture. We were left with a house that required $80,000-$100,000 in renovations.

We immediately felt resistance from AAA with a letter questioning ownership (deed in our name) and occupation (house cleared for new owners 4 days prior) that escalated into them requesting we appear in March for an Examination Under Oath (EUO). It became necessary to hire a Public Adjuster and Lawyer. We cooperated with every request that included providing over 50 pages of supporting documents and appearing at the EUO for over 5 hours of interrogation. They procrastinated any response until we received a denial letter in July. This denial letter came after 3 months of continued procrastination all while our lawyer inquired with them on 6 separate occasions.

6 months of waiting, spending $8,000 in accumulated expenses, for them to formulate a denial that could have been done 5 months prior, with a house that is stuck in purgatory, in a condition that we could not reside in, with mortgage, electric, gas, water/sewer, tax, and insurance payments that we continued to make. We don't have the patience to sue and wait another year or two so we now have to cover the entire bill ourselves to renovate it back to selling condition. Who has an extra $80,000-$100,000 to throw into something like this? Nobody, because you anticipate that you will never be in this situation because you have insurance to protect you.

Don't have false security under AAA. We are done with them and are changing all 5 of our policies. Seems like we are not alone with this in reading over 3000 complaints. Laws need to change to stop protecting the corporations and screwing the paying client. It's fraud. They are raping us and it's legal. Not sure what insurance company to turn to next... maybe they are all the same.

Up to this point I have been extremely satisfied with the entire claims process. 8 years ago I had a new roof put on after a hail storm. The deductible at that time was 1,000.00 which compared to a new roof at 8500.00 I was more than satisfied. On Monday March 6th 2017 we had strong storms come thru, spawning several tornados in the area. I was more fortunate than many, I only lost one tree and a 10 by 15 foot are of shingles.

I called AAA to file a claim, I was informed at that time the deductible had increased from the 1,000 to 1 percent of the value I have my home insured for. AAA currently has my home insured for 462,000, meaning my deductible is now 4,620.00 dollars over half the cost of a new roof. In the 20 years I have been with AAA I have watched my premiums more than double, which I accepted because of the great care I had received in the past. When I asked about the deductible increase I was told that it would have been in my annual statement back in 2015. I'm extremely disappointed that my agent Mike ** did not even have the courage to call and let me know in person. After this I will be looking for another insurance company that is for sure. I was informed to call my homeowners insurance which is AAA. When the claim adjuster was here in two minutes he said he can't see any damage from the rain. I told them I had to have it covered or it would have continue to rain inside. It shows where the damage came inside of the house and left a hole. AAA is not what it says. I am searching for new insurance. The customer service are rude and if it was a manager I spoke with he wasn't any better. The official office is in Texas.

Given the other reviews, I feel I don't have to elaborate: 25 years with AAA, 3 claims in 25 years. Water claim - all good and paid until I found another source of leak and damage (prior to repairs). Although it was all the same damage, adjuster insisted on a second claim. I paid $500 deductible again. Upon renewal, water deductible increased by 1000% to $5000. Cannot get another carrier to take us because of the two claims!!! Trapped by AAA, grrr. Be persistent; after 4 calls and denials, I got Geico who had been good with car. Premium lower for same coverage. Discovered that person at AAA wrote the policy incorrectly and undercovered for A and over for C. Steer clear of AAA. They used to be great. I don't know what happened. Initially when we found water damage, due to an appliance, we were happy to have AAA renters ins. They took care of all of our needs. We did not have to worry about a thing. Then the premium adjustment came in the mail. Going forward there would be a $5k deductible on any water damage for the whole home. Keep in mind that it was previously $500. So their policy is this - If you move into a 20 year home with a 10 year old dishwasher that leaks the risk is low and your deductible is only $500, but if you put in a new Dishwasher after finding water damage the risk is too high to cover so the deductible $5k. I hope you are getting the sarcasm here. The real risk has been replaced yet AAA insists that the deductible is now $5k for the whole home. Ludicrous!!!

I appealed 4 times to try and reach someone with a half a brain who could logically work it out and realize that the real risk of water damage is actually now much less that it was previously to no avail. I canceled my policy and got a quote from Geico. I disclosed the water damage claim in my application and not only was the coverage matched with the $500 deductible but it was also a lower Premium. Do not use AAA homeowners or renters insurance. No one in their underwriting department has a brain that they can use!!!

I had disclosed this at the time of insurance and the agent raised the deductible to 5000 at the time of signing. They cancelled the home and when I tried to cancel the auto they charged a huge short term cancellation fee even though it was their mistake. I realize now that they were leading us down the path to slaughter. Their repair estimate includes a sponge wipe and repainting of most of the walls, then ozone treated. For some unknown reason, AAA considers this a thorough job. I had to hire my own experts who are all saying that the house needs to be gutted and rebuilt. Also, after requiring us to try to clean our personal property, it's coming back looking like hell. Now, AAA is refusing to pay us to replace it. Everything still smells like smoke and our adjuster simply pushes the issue off on the contractors (they're crooks too). Their actions are putting the health of my family at risk. The claims agent, Tosha, told me that if it was approved, they would fix the roof and IF WE WANTED, they would cover the interior damage.

I come home, and my husband tells me an inspector called HIM, made an appointment, and immediately told my husband (without even LOOKING at the damage), that they would not cover the roof (exterior) damage and would only maybe fix the interior damage! I called Service Master for their report and it indicated 100% saturation day 1 and the water source being the sump and drain which is covered under the policy.

When I called AAA Kris was unprofessional and rude. He told me he did not receive the report from Service Master and would like to see it. I said how can you take a position without reviewing all the facts so I sent it on to him. He called a few days later and was rude again stating the claim was denied because the sump line broke outside of the home creating the water issue, I stated that was not 100% correct as the sump bucket and drain caused some of the water issues as well. I asked if I could speak to his manager and he said no but gave me his number, and then stated, "You do whatever you want to do. The claim is denied." I could not believe the treatment and quickly realized the treatment my elderly mother received from the AAA team. If you are a senior, stay away from this company. I called AAA after noticing the barn roof had caved in after the ice storms a couple of years ago. Not being sure if it was covered, I had the agent come and check it out. After checking the barn, she proceeded to get on top of the polebarn (I never asked her to check that roof). I had a water leak in the basement and asked if it was worth claiming. After checking that out, she said the roof was not covered but the basement leak was.

AAA sent out a crew called Professional Restoration Services who boxed everything up and took it to a warehouse stating that they would clean everything and bring it back. Months later, everything came back boxed up. I didn't open the boxes for months until I was looking for something. Unbelievably, they had placed everything in boxes and brought it back literally the same way... Nothing was ever cleaned. On top of that, they tracked black basement water all over my breezeway after I just had it cleaned. I had to pay out of pocket to have it steam cleaned again.

Then to make matters worse, I got a letter saying AAA was excluding both my barn and pole barn from my policy because of bad roofs. AAA had me go through the hassle of figuring out the value of everything and putting what year it was purchased... Only to say everything was worth 50% of the value I had listed. They paid me 2,870.00 and Professional Restoration Services over 5,000.00 just to box up my stuff and return it dirty. Nothing was ever done to clean the basement nor breezeway floors. For this only time that I ever made a homeowners claim, my insurance is significantly higher and now it is difficult to change insurances because of the one claim.

My auto insurance has been just as bad with AAA. I have gotten nowhere when I have complained. After the agent called me introducing herself and stating she was here to help me, my insurance was once again jacked up because I mentioned that my son was in the army. She asked if he stays with me when he comes home. She then put him on my insurance even though he has his own. She stated "that is the law."

Now my auto insurance is also 400.00 higher than it was. I am extremely disgusted with AAA and would never recommend them to anyone. Their practices are underhanded and definitely not pro consumer. I plan on complaining to the Better Business Bureau and anyone else to prevent other consumers from having the same bad experiences as I have had with them.

This year I requested a quote for home insurance. Since I already had a car insurance with AAA, I expected to get a good deal. I was not provided the quote automatically. Later in the day I was contacted by the agent via email, who sent me a list of questions I needed to answer prior getting a quote. I was not buying the insurance. I just needed a quote for purchasing a house but I was asked to provide so many little details about the house like I was a current owner.

Along with the questionnaire I was provided with a non working direct number of the agent. I responded back to the agent and asked to clarify the questions. Unfortunately, I missed the call from the agent but when I called back, the agent told me that he was busy with another caller and will give me a call back. Never received a call back. Next day I requested another quote from AAA. Another agent contacted me with the similar questions. When I answer them, she sent me my quote, which was the highest I got from other companies.

When I printed details, the value of my house for the insurance was $10K more than an actual cost of the house. They wanted me to pay for an air. I got back to the agent pointing the difference. The response was very short and rude. "I don't have any other quote for you, the system does it automatically and if I change the price of the house, the difference will be only $100." Really??? Only $100? For them it's nothing. I realize that AAA is good only until you have no problem. If there is a problem, you can't trust this company.

I was sent a list of things that needed to be done to my home - trampoline removed (understood), soot around pipe from pellet stove removed (fire hazard?), and my house painted (exposed?). They also wanted to know if my pellet stove was "home made". I didn't know there was such a thing. Anyway, I told them I would address the things over the summer and never received any additional correspondence so I assumed that time frame was satisfactory.

This morning I opened my mail to find a "refund check" for cancellation of policy and no further information. I had no idea what is what or which policy (home, auto, or both). After I called the number, and also received a return email from my contact, I discover it was canceled due to the trampoline and soot. I never received any notice - even though I was told a letter from the underwriter was sent in May. I have had no insurance since July 2. I am livid. All the items had been taken care of, I just didn't think to send pictures since I really didn't think it was a rush since they didn't reply to my email saying it would all be done over the summer. I have been waiting for 6 hours for a return call from a manager. I have no choice at this point but to re-instate through them (effective tomorrow) but I plan to find another company.

After reading these reviews, and what I have just experienced I can only imagine the kind of coverage they provide, and it is not a company I want to deal with. They were roughly $300 a year cheaper than the company I had for the last 13 years, but you know the saying "you get what you pay for". I would not recommend this company to anyone. Wood floors - 3/4" Oak 3" distressed Planks - were ruined due to a broken waterline flood. Adjuster came out and I received their estimate of damage. After looking at the adjusters allowed area to be replaced it was obvious by the visible "cupping" of the wood that he had underestimated the damaged area (Note: he did not do a moisture scan of the floor and substrate). I declined utilizing AAA recommended Contractors and contacted a Flooring contractor whose work I am familiar with. My contractor came out and performed a floor scan which showed the wood and also the plywood substrate over the concrete floor were saturated during the flooding and were still wet. The adjuster allowed for partial replacement of existing wood (~80% of total) with unfinished wood which would require staining to match existing. He made no allowance for replacement of the plywood substrate.

In staining the wood it would be required that the house be vacated for ~72 hours due to the fumes and the access to rooms in the house. Once again the adjuster was apparently unaware of this requirement and did not allow for temporary housing. Substrate replacement, additional damaged wood and temporary lodging were omitted from the financial insurance reimbursement offer provided me.

Upon examining the damage to the flooring my contractor (35 years in business) advised that the entire Wood Floor and plywood substrate be replaced with Pre-Stained equivalent. A 3/4" thick - 3" Oak Distressed pre-stained Plank was found which has a similar stain to the damaged floor (Bruce CR3455). The contractor presented a bid for turn key replacement for $2,013.37 more than the AAA offer. Note that AAA did not include Substrate removal and replacement, Omitted over 150 SF of damaged area, required staining and did not allow for temporary housing during staining. My contractor submitted his itemized bid to the AAA adjuster June 9, 2016. On the same date, I sent an email to the adjuster with the justification I outlined above, and attached a copy of the itemized bid and also left a voicemail on his cell phone.

After not hearing back from him I re-sent the email requesting an update. He called me saying he had been out of pocket but received my info. On 6/18 the Contractor called me to advise he had heard nothing from AAA. On June 21st I once again requested feedback with no response and on June 22nd I forward all information to the Manager of adjustments requesting a phone call -- 3:30 pm on June 23 and still no call back.

A little bit about my background/experience - I'm a licensed Real Estate Broker, Perform inspections and price opinions to Mortgage companies on the condition and repair costs on their foreclosed properties; I also am a Project Manager responsible for compiling estimates of construction repairs/new installations, and oversee the bid process and bid awards to contractors -- So this ain't my first rodeo in this arena but it's the first Homeowners claim I've made in the 20 years in my house (~5 yrs with AAA.) I have carried Triple A for 4 cars and homeowner's insurance for over 13 years. In all that time, I have never made a homeowner claim. But two weeks ago, I came home to water dripping on the ceiling of my bathroom and then a flood when the toilet above my bathroom broke and flooded a pipe burst. Opening the ceiling, the plumber who fixed the toilet found mold. Before an adjuster came out, I spoke to someone in claims who told me the mold could grow quickly from the flood or be from long-term leaking, the latter which is not covered.

Of course, the adjuster determined the mold was from long-term leaking and would deny the claim despite her admitting that she could not separate which damage was caused by the covered burst pipe and which from long term leaking. She warned me before even looking that she might find that the damage is not covered if the leak undetected by me occurred before the pipe burst. It was apparent she came to my house with her mind made up to deny the claim. She spent five minutes and took four pictures by lifting her phone into a six inch by six inch square cut into the ceiling, and then said the mold was due to long term leaking.

When I asked her qualifications to make such a determination about the mold after five minutes and four pictures, she said she took classes with Triple A.

Now I am forced to either pay for an expert to challenge her findings, which is not something I can afford as I cannot even afford to repair the damage to the drywall and flooring and remove the mold. I believe the denial is in bad faith. Besides, maybe all insurance companies do this, but how can an insurance company write a policy that does not cover damage for undetected slow leaks that cause damage? It must be common enough that an insurance company wouldn't insure it--or else they would actually have to pay out rather than simply collect.

I have had AAA auto and home insurance for 10 years. I had filed a small claim back in 2008 for my basement and basically received around 1,500 payout. There was wind damage back in November 2015 where my roof tiles were flying off along with many of my neighbors roof tiles. I saw that there were adjusters in the area so I decided to file a claim with them. It took the insurance company about 3 months to send someone to my house because they kept saying the weather did not allow them due to snow/ice. Meanwhile birds decided to make a home between my gutters/fascia. When they finally came out the adjuster noted all of the damage and told me this would definitely be covered. Also shingles came off of my garage, gutters were loose, and blew a section of my fence down.

After a month or so of chasing AAA they send a forensic engineer to study my roof and take thousands of pictures. Well this didn't seem right to me from the start and I asked him why was he there if the adjuster already went, he just said this was their process. I knew in the back of my mind that from him coming out to my property that AAA would rather pay an engineering company thousands of dollars to avoid paying for my damage to my roof, garage, gutters, and fence. Because that's exactly what they did. They told my public adjuster that the engineering report said the material and installation was faulty and they would not cover me. Imagine that after they gave my adjuster the runaround saying why was I using an adjuster when I could have filed my own claim it seemed they did not even want to work with him from the start.

This is the worst insurance company ever and I filed a claim with the Illinois department of insurance and I am waiting for an outcome. Isn't there a law that says they cannot tell me it's covered and then take that back later. This seems very unfair and unjust and I am definitely switching to Allstate or State Farm. These seem to be the better companies.

We were told it did need replaced & that we had hail damage from a storm in June 2015 which passed over our neighborhood. We therefore called AAA insurance & filed a claim. They sent out their own inspector who said our roof has missing granules due to manufacturing defects (the roof is a 25-year roof and was 15 years old at the time).

Our roofer disagreed with them, so AAA paid a Certified Engineer who took photos of many spots on the roof showing the granules missing, and the fibers showing, also little dents on the metal roof ridge vent, & even the AC unit which showed spots which they attributed to hail damage, but they concluded that the asphalt shingles did not have broken fiberglass fibers so subsequently did not qualify as sufficient damage to justify roof replacement. They also said in their written report that the screens on our lanai had no hail damage (We do not even have screens on our lanai!). Our roofer specializes in dealing with insurance claims and has much experience in this area. In the past 9 months they have replaced 10 roofs in our immediate neighborhood due to the same hail damage that damaged our roof. These included our next door neighbor, the house across the street, several houses behind our house in the two streets behind us, etc.

Each house has happened to have a different insurance company, and ours with AAA has been the only one to refuse to pay for a roof replacement. Our roofer has hired an attorney to represent us and has filed for court mediation, which can take several months. AAA might have the best prices, but what good is that if they refuse to pay when you must file a claim? We will be changing to a different company and will look at reviews before we do.

Unless the trees are on a structure they don't mess with it. The disaster relief people could only go so far with tree removal. There are three large ones intertwined.

City and other agencies declare area too dangerous for people to be around. They aren't doing anything about the house roof. They are going to give money for replacement of the roof on garage but not covering garage itself which is coming down. They won't cover any of that. More than 50 feet of fence needs to be replaced. They want to pay a little over 2000 dollars not to mention a 1500 dollar deductible which was incorrect. That wouldn't even come near fixing the tree problem. Specialist have to do it or it could take out the back of my property as well as the neighbors.

I'm on disability and don't know how this is going to work out. They don't want to reimburse for work already done before the big storm that came in the next day. The contractor said he had been doing this for years and never saw anything like it. Storm happened April 26th and I'm still waiting. Big mess. Tornadic storms expected in area tomorrow. I have to walk my dogs - they can't go in their backyard. I talked to a friend that did my old insurance. Sure do miss them and can't wait to go back. Years with them no problem with claims, shouldn't have ever left. Talking to an attorney tomorrow. They switch adjusters all the time and payout keeps getting lower. Stay away from AAA. Please.

After stumbling upon this site and seeing the reviews regarding AAA Homeowners I felt compelled to share our story. We have been AAA customers for over 30 years. We suffered a storm in our area a couple of years ago where we have a second home. This storm caused numerous trees (well over 50 mature oak trees) to come down on the property but resulting in no damage to the structure or any vehicles. We had no access to or from the property and requested help from AAA. They sent out an adjuster who felt that there was 10K in damages and sent up a local tree company to assist with tree removal.

Four months later we receive our new premium which was increased over 60%!! When inquiring about this AAA stated that an increase WAS justified because a claim had been filed!! WTF!! They also went on to state that we were now on "probation" for three years and any future claims may result in the policy being cancelled! Needless to say we "cancelled" them and found a reputable insurance company to insure the property that was the same amount to what we were paying before the increase. Lesson learned - DON'T file a claim unless it is catastrophic AND shop around. I think when I pay off my house I will not carry insurance and take the risk!!

Again, I had no claims in all of the years with them. After 6 phone calls, and many minutes on hold, AAA could not give me a reason for insurance cancellation, other than they made a mistake and "are working on it". Their working on it never was completed and I was dropped like a hot potato. I have never been mistreated so badly by a company in my over 70 years of doing business with companies, big and small. In 2010 we filed a roof claim with a 1% deductible, replaced our roof and then received our replacement cost depreciation. In 2016 we had another hail storm and filed a claim. The inspecting adjuster made a comment about our high deductible which made me take a closer look at my Dec sheet of my policy. Lo and behold the Wind and Hail deductible had been increased to 3% without my knowledge! A customer driven company would not make such a material change so detrimental to a policyholder without formal notification and in an extreme case such as this require written conformation or sign off. They certainly notify me in writing when my premium is increased.

We contacted their customer service and were told that AAA made the change on their own. Now here is the real kicker! They based the change in our Wind and Hail deductible based on having an old (1996) roof despite replacing our roof just six years prior. Seems their claims department and underwriting units do not consider it a fiduciary responsibility to their policyholders to check these facts or notify us of material changes in the policy. We should have been given the chance to decline, accept or negotiate otherwise. We were then told in writing that since their change in our deductible was made on false information that our deductible would be corrected back to 1% retroactively. However after several conversations that underwriting was reviewing (should have done that before raising our deductible), we were then told our deductible would be 3%! This is not acceptable.

We experienced a storm with large damaging hail in August 2015. At least, 3/4+ of the houses in our subdivision have had the roofs replaced. We filed a claim. The adjuster denied our claim. I then asked for a second assessment. An independent company was sent out to evaluate the condition of the roof. One of the workers mentioned to me that there was damage and it was quite probable that the claim would be approved. I was shocked to see the report and the claim was again denied. Three different contractors took photos and I've noted the damage.

Now that winter is over, I requested a re-evaluation of the roof. I spoke to the area claims manager. He was rude and told me that it is hard to believe that the contracting company would make comments to me regarding the claim. Then he said that he would not keep sending assessors until I get the answer I am looking for. This was incredibly rude treatment. I then contacted the regional claims manager who backed his underlings. It should be noted that several insurance companies have reversed their previous claim denials. All the homes around ours have been re-roofed. All we are asking is for fair treatment. This is the first home owner's claim that we ever filed. We are looking for a new insurance company.

Several months after I purchased my homeowners insurance from AAA, they cancelled it, stating that I had: 1) Two paid claims, 2) an unpermitted storage shed/workshop in my backyard being used as a rental, 3) an unrepaired deck basically a wooden platform a half a foot off the ground. The first two items are not true. I had one paid claim thru AAA which the issuing insurance agent was well aware of and took it into account when quoting the price of the policy. The storage shed/workshop has a city issued permit and is not fit to be a rental, nor has it ever been a rental. AAA had no factual basis for claims 1) and 2). They just made an accusation without proper evidence and used this as an excuse to cancel my insurance. AAA is apparently required to provide phone numbers allowing for a protest of the cancellation. I called all these given phone numbers with no answers from any of them and no returned calls for the messages I left.

I finally contacted the AAA insurance sales department looking for someone I could talk to. Here my phone calls were answered and I was steered to a sales rep who offered an alternate insurance policy at about double the price of the cancelled policy. After finally obtaining a copy of the permit for my storage shed/workshop from the city and getting copies of my second paid insurance claim which was for damage to a different house in a different city and caused by a neighboring house, I contacted the California Dept of Insurance to protest this arbitrary cancellation. AAA replied to the Dept of Insurance by basically sweeping their false allegations under the rug. They revised their reason for cancellation, now basing the cancellation on the unrepaired deck consisting of some worn and cracked planks at ground level.

As a resolution, AAA gave me the chance to re-apply for a new homeowners policy. The Dept of Insurance apparently has no desire or capability to hold AAA accountable for cancelling a policy based mostly on false accusations. AAA keeps thanking me for my many years of being a customer with them. Probably

because they figure that anyone who stays with them for a long time will put up with their business tactics. But it turned our well for me because during this process I found another and better homeowners insurance company.

An AAA agent examined my house. I had misfiled my policy, so I missed payment and was canceled. The agent came to my house (I'd been reviewed as ok two years previous). He complained about the rainy weather ruining his shoes and commenced to be negative about every aspect of looking at my house. First, since we have drought in CA, my backyard has no more grass, so it was muddy. He came back in from the backyard examination and unceremoniously wiped his shoes on my dog's outdoor doggy bed. The dirt was so ground in that I had to throw it away later. He next looked at the kitchen, taking photos. The kitchen is new with granite, cabinets, paint, lighting, and floor, not to mention all new appliances. He saw that I had put in new laminate flooring elsewhere and new carpet.

He next went to the bathrooms, which are under remodeling!!! Already having new cabinets and granite. The backing for tile is ready to receive the tile, which is in the garage awaiting my workman to put in along with new flooring in the garage. The agent ignored my comments and commenced to look at the next bathroom, which needs the flooring put in. No one uses that bathroom. So it was a little dusty. He took pictures of both bathrooms and pinched his nose. Well, my washing machine broke, so I put my laundry to take to the laundromat there. Throughout the whole process the AAA agent smirked, snorted, and whined about his shoes and the lack of complete bathrooms in the house. I am alone and have no one to help me, so I get help where I can to get work done.

As a result of this agent and the "persons" who looked at the pictures at the main office, I got canceled. The irony is that I had a worker coming in that very week to do work when the agent came. AAA has had my business for car insurance for about five years and house insurance for about two and half. I was not allowed one peep of protest or voice in my situation. If a house is being remodeled, then obviously some things will not be done.

I inherited this house from my father who let it go and I've invested about 50K in it to bring it up to standards. I'm proud of the improvements I've made and deserve not to be treated like some scum housekeeper by some finicky agent who can't stand a few drops of rain on his day and enters a house in bad mood. Instead of saying, "Well, Ms. **, we see you need to finish some of this work. Do you know we have lots of AAA-certified contractors to recommend? Please consult with one, and if in 30 days you can show advancement in the completion of the bathrooms, let's talk about continuing our insurance relationship with you since you've been a AAA member for over 40 years and your loyalty has been great."

Actually, AAA correspondence is terse, blunt, curt, and dismissive. I teach business writing, and I am appalled at their writing tone and treatment of customer. AAA says: "We're always with you" for your insurance needs. NO, THEY ARE NOT. I was disrespected; my property was basically vandalized, and my house not given the chance it deserves. I work hard to make what little I do, and I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish. To have some stranger with personal standards and finicky predilections interfere with a judicious and fair review of my circumstances is beyond reproach. He wore designer clothes and shoes, fussed with his hair, smirked at this and that, refused to note anything about what I had ready to put in the bathrooms, and left with a huff. If people have to have "house beautiful" or "Sunset Magazine" quality, then AAA needs to say so up front.

I should have--and everyone should--a list of items an agent is going to review, thus giving me and everyone else a fair chance to look around to get things ready for review. I worked hard to make the house ready as I am also painting, thus things were covered with drop cloths. I found a new insurance company to take both my car and house insurance, which it did with a smile from its friendly, non-designer agent. Since AAA has basic monopoly on emergency car services, I still have that. But for anything else, AAA is on my list to avoid.

In the past people tried to tell me not to do business with AAA, I went ahead and did so, and I can't believe the better-than-thou treatment of the agent and the main office reviewing cases. I can't believe I have ZERO voice after years of making payments without any claims and thousands of enriching dollars they've socked away. AAA is no more on my list, and if you've taken the time to read my account, I hope you will think ten times before you put yourself in my situation of being smirked at and shuffled off like something to use and throw away.

After the first loss I called the adjuster and told them I thought they had us written the policy incorrectly. They wrote us as a Dwelling and not a townhome/Condo. They said that the adjusters had been out to the home...which they had, and had seen no problem. They told me not to worry. When we applied for an umbrella policy we were denied. I called to ask why and was told that it would be silly to issue an umbrella on a policy that would not be renewed. I was shocked.

Never had this happen before. I then asked if they would continue coverage if we re-piped the entire home. They told me they would. I took that with a BIG grain of salt. Last Friday I received a call telling me that my policy would not be renewed, even if re-piped. One of the reasons given was that the policy had been improperly written. HA! Don't worry. Famous last words. Suddenly the friendly AAA agents were no longer helpful or returning my calls. VERY poor performance. I also went through the due diligence of adding my auto insurance to help reduce costs but AAA was STILL $600 higher than my current auto insurer. ISO gives Butte County Fire Department a 9 out of 10 because they do not have a ladder that is tall enough for the highest county building. First call at my location is the City of Paradise Fire Department even though I am in Butte County. I am 1600 feet from the City of Paradise's nearest fire hydrant. Paradise Fire Department has an ISO rating of 4.

So, all insurance carriers that I contacted, except AAA (AAA does not use ISO rating) give my home site a 9 out of 10 rating. This means I can get home insurance, but it is very expensive. AAA offered me a more fair price and considered my fire potential on an individual basis. My house sits in the middle of 10 flat, cleared acres and is a good risk against wildfire harm. ISO lumps all buildings in an area according to ISO's opinion of the local fire agency.

I’m 52 years old and well educated so this is not some random rant.

In 2012 my town was hit with torrential rains for a week straight and my basement flooded out of the sump pump pit effectively wiping out 5 rooms (4 of which were finished including my home office). I called AAA immediately to file a claim and was quoted the following mumbo jumbo... "Water coming down is not the same as water coming up", meaning they don't insure the house for rain-caused flood damage. I had to take the entire amount on the chin and paid for the water reclamation out of my own pocket. I have since moved but kept the house as future rental property.

The day after Thanksgiving 2015 the power failed at the very same house during a large rain storm and kicked the breaker which ran the sump pump causing it to stay off when the power came back on. The result was that the basement flooded yet again. This time the water was left standing for several days (we were away and didn't know). I again called again AAA and this time was told, in reverse of the last flood condition that "water coming up is not the same as water coming down" and they wouldn't cover anything because I never asked to have the sump pump covered. I was again rejected by AAA and now again have to cover the total costs out of my own pocket. So far I'm in the hole approx. $4000 and another $10-12 coming to remodel the entire basement due to drywall being saturated in all 5 rooms.

Apparently AAA doesn't cover water damage whether is comes up or down or however Mother Nature decides to deliver it to your home. I've also never heard of an insurance company requiring you to list 'unknown riders' to your policy in case something happens.

There are two problems here: 1) AAA has no documentation that lists SUMP PUMP, only the words 'sump overflow'. The word 'pump' is not printed ANYWHERE in their coverage literature so how was I supposed to know to specifically ask for the word PUMP to be added to a supposedly whole-house policy?? And 2) The pump itself is just another utility that plugs directly into the wall socket like any other appliance in the house such as the stove or fridge, both of which are covered if the power goes out due to a storm which terminates electricity from the house.

I should be ashamed for leaving Nationwide insurance after 18 years to go with AAA. Now I know why AAA was cheaper.

I recently upgraded my membership to include auto and renter's for the $80 something discount. After 3 years my apartment decided it wanted its name on my declaration statement. So I went in to my branch office and requested it. They printed "the old one." So a week later I find out I'm in breach of my lease and I have to provide this document. So I went back to request it again. I was told it "would be sent within 24 hours." They took the fax number so I figured they would fax it in. After 3 days I checked and nothing had arrived. So I called. Yet again. It took some time, but I got the guy to tell me that they have to have underwriters regenerate my declaration. This makes no sense to me because nothing in my actual policy is changing. The "Addendum to:" line is added later and doesn't change the cost or coverage of my policy. All I needed was something from AAA saying they recognize my apartment as the concerned party.

All of this comes up when they pull up my profile, so why can't the agent add the last line and print it? This line does nothing to alter the substance of my profile, account or policy in any way. It only appears on the declaration. Oh and they exclusively use the USPS for all their documents. They swear they'll send it in the mail but half the time they don't. When I went back the last time the agent I spoke to personally called my manager and took the fax number to the office, then she made a copy of my manager's business card. But somehow they still only mailed it. Seriously, how hard is it to fax? They don't even need a hard copy anymore. I also requested an email pdf file and made sure the gmail address they had was current. Guess what? They never sent it. I don't get it. I'm giving them to Friday and I'm cancelling. Also worth noting is that the phone payment system is dangerously outdated.

For one thing, you can only do autopay if you set it up in person and request it. Autopay isn't offered immediately for some reason. The phone system itself only has the option to input a checking account number, like all of their customers are over 70 and still carry paper checks. I don't have to say how unsafe it is to carry that info around. Debit/credit card options don't exist. Apparently AAA thinks it's a better idea to carry slips of paper with my account and routing numbers printed on them than it is to use a secure traceable card that generates its own paper trail. Sorry AAA but the 50's are over and technology is a lot more scary.

Workers painted over these lumps anyway, claiming their job was complete. Soon colder weather will be here and the elderly couple has no heater for house. Numerous letters, with photos, to CSAA "Claims Specialist" do not produce any results.

This company will not refused to mitigate wind-blown water damage into my home. They ordered my contractors not to mitigate massive water until the City condemned the home for toxic mold. Then, they would only allow repair after six weeks later. They expected 8 inches of water to evaporate. The water caused extensive toxic mold and I got mycotoxin poisoning. Water went under foundation, making foundation collapse. They ordered my contractor not to mitigate the foundation damage causing the foundation to collapse on the 11th week of after the named peril loss. The City condemned the house for foundation damage.

AAA sent adjuster supervisor who tried to start a fistfight with the contractor. In addition, the supervisor claims there was never any water in the house in the first place, and continues to resist paying any claims, even though their first adjuster said the house was flooded, and I do not have flood insurance. His incompetence was that the flood water was from wind blown rain of which was cause by the wind blowing the flashing from around the chimney.

AAA refuses to pay all of the claims for water damage, and drags their feet on payment and allowing my contractor to finish the water damage. I am going on almost four months with the house being unlivable. AAA will not address any of the issues, and is shorting the value of repair. For example, the custom paneling in my family room was destroyed by the water and subsequent extensive mold. The cost to repair is $18,000, but they insist on only reimbursing $1,000.

They cheat and keep cost of repair to an absolute minimum of what the actual cost of repair, and will only allow the cheapest material being used, even though policy calls for "like and similar quality replacement." They are the most horrible people to deal, and they totally ignore all calls, communications, email. They just do not want to pay any legitimate claims or the consequential damages of their forced delays.

Purchased homeowner's insurance from AAA of Texas effective 7/25/15. I gave the agent all the details regarding the house to be insured, including the fact that it was two storeys and there was living space above the garage. First of September I get a letter saying, "oopsie... we didn't quote your house as having two storeys and we missed the part about there being living space above the garage." They now want me to pay an additional $300. If that's not awesome enough, when I cancel (which I will do ASAP) they are going to refund my premium based upon the higher amount. I will never, ever, again look to AAA for insurance.

About 3 weeks ago, we had a bad hailstorm in my area, damaged our home. According to the roofing contractor was about $12,000 which included some broken windows. However that claim was decline because is less than my deductible which about $2,000. Following up with claims service representative, she said they declined because there was a claim about 3 years ago due to storm damaged. Again claim was about $12000 but was paid only $5000 to fix the entire roof. There no roofing company that will fix the entire house, not even including my deductible of $2000 totaling $7000. The $5000 check they sent is not even enough for the half of the roof, so I used it to fix only 2 sides of backyard fence which fell down, just for 2 sides.

American Home Shield was too cheap to replace my dishwasher at one of my rental properties, so they contracted Sears to continuously replace parts. Sears techs ordered a pump for a refrigerator instead of the dishwasher. When the tech sees it's the wrong part, he reconnects the dishwasher and says he'll reorder the part and return to replace it. A few weeks later, my tenants notice there's a lot of water dripping down the walls and floor beams down into the basement and several inches on the floor.

AAA ** hired Delta Disaster to do the job, remove water and mold from my property. My tenant has a chronic illness and had be hospitalized for not feeling well. She was concerned, cautious, and curious of what Delta Disaster was doing with heavy plastic (to contain the mold in the kitchen and basement) and spraying. When the tenant asked what was being sprayed, the tech said they were getting rid of toxic mold. My tenant was relieved thinking she would feel better.

For two years my tenant and her family have still been ill. I called AAA in June 2015 to ask how do you know if the mold has been removed. AAA adjuster (Heide) hired B.H. Environmental Hygienist to test for mold and to my surprise, asbestos. I was confused but I didn't see a problem. On July 8th 2015, I received a call from B.H. stating the tenants need to leave the premises immediately due an asbestos spill and high levels of the two most dangerous molds were present 4000 per sq. ft. in the basement and 3000 per sq. ft. on the main level. He said this could be contributing to my tenants chronic illness. B.F. had to call Colorado Department of Health due to the "spill". The house is under containment and tenants were ordered to leave with the clothes on their backs.

To my surprise, B.H. said there was an asbestos test done in 2013, show in positive for asbestos and there would need to be an abatement. No one at AAA or Delta Disaster mentioned this to me. However Heide said there wasn't any records of testing done in 2013. I asked her several different times over the course of two weeks. I requested a copy of this from Heide, she said there is no such information about testing done. She stuck to her story. When I mentioned this to B H. he said that's not true. He initially called Delta Disaster to find out what services they provided. They refused to give any information. So, the report was sent to him by AAA. Therefore Heide was not being truthful.

Every time I requested information from Heide, "can I get a copy of Delta Disasters work orders and asbestos testing", she said all information is in our notes and customers are not privy to their notes. I asked B.H. if I'm allowed to have all copies of testing so my tenants can give it to their cardiologists and primary care physician. He emailed me the asbestos test from two years ago dated 9/2013 along with his tests results.

After going back forth with Heide, these are the things I was accused of: In 2013, telling Delta Disaster not to do any mold remediation or abatement; I would have my own contractor do it. I never said such a thing! I asked for the written signed statement for refusal of services. She said "there isn't anything written or signed, this was a verbal". I asked her is she going to believe me her customer or her Vendor. She said "I believe my Vendor". I said "oh that's how you save money on claims." She told me this is my fault, and they will not pay for loss of rent due to me not having an abatement done (which I never was informed of until after July 9, 2015).

Heide accused me of taking the settlement (4,000) to remodel the kitchen and that was to cover the abatement. They broke this up into two claims and denied the water damage in the basement. Saying it was caused by a rainstorm that occurred around the same time as the dishwasher debacle and uncovered window wells. The window wells have never been covered. But the dishwasher has always been above the basement. Heide accused me of not knowing what questions or information to give a contractor. She's correct. As I told her I relied on AAA to be honest and forthcoming with pertinent information for the safety and health of my tenants. I only shared with them what AAA shared with me in writing. Obviously their vendor Delta Disaster did not get rid of the mold as they told my tenant and myself.

Last month, I filed a complaint with my States Attorney Generals Office for consumer fraud. I called my Insurance Commissioners office and asked if it's legal policy for insurance companies not to mail out tests results to customers. I was told "yes, but why did they not at least inform you is the question" the representative said. They would like to ask AAA that question and many more.

This is where we are 36 days later: Heide is caught in a lie. I gave her another opportunity to tell me about the testing. She said "there are only notes that there needs to be mold remediation and abatement done." I said, "so AAA was aware. Where are the tests results?" She said it's only noted. I asked is it policy to send all documents related to claims to the customer. She said yes. I asked "where are my copies from two years ago?" She said "I wasn't here two years ago so I can't answer that." She said "Since we paid you to have the abatement done and did not have done two years ago, I called "Delta Disaster " (their trusted vendor), to get an estimate for the abatement. It would have cost $2,700. I will cut a check for this amount and you will need to pay the difference." The estimate is $17,000.

So, I'm taking that as saying "AAA DROPPED THE BALL AND TRYING TO GIVE ME HUSH MONEY." I WILL NOT CASH THAT CHECK! She's claiming I was paid to take care of this two years ago. My measly check did not say any such thing. Of course, she wasn't there two years ago. After her many, many lies and protecting her position at beloved AAA, I informed her I have a copy of the asbestos testing ordered by her trusted Delta Disaster. She said "Oh, I don't know anything about that. They must have forgotten to give it to the adjuster." REALLY? I told her exactly where it came from AAA, she then said she did not give it to B.H. and still denied it's from AAA.

I was then informed by B.H. AAA insist he bill me for all testing requested by the Environmental Health Department and they will pay for the first day of initial testing. He told them he was hired by AAA not by their customer. How many customers are they doing this to across the country? Where is the oversight? AAA NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, FINED and have a CEASE & DESIST ORDER IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY! The Department of Environmental Health was not happy to find out AAA has not resolved this matter. They have put in a call to Heide (good name). She's been hiding the truth from the very beginning. But, I'm calling her out for being disrespectful, calling me a liar, blaming me for not knowing the procedures for mold remediation and abatement, accusing me of fraud for being paid for a claim and not doing what needed to be done.

To prove their policy and procedures, Heide mailed all "current" testing results to me. My final words to Heide "if AAA would have given me the same respect and followed their policies and procedures two years ago, I never would have had the displeasure of speaking with you, my tenants would not be ill and seeing Dr.s who specialize in molds, be displaced and having to take chest x-ray for the rest of their lives for being exposed to asbestos for two years. The stress has caused increased health issues for my tenant. She has been in and out of the hospital for added stress. I hope you sleep very well at night for all the hell you have put us all through in the last 36 days! I am seeking legal counsel."

I was in the process of purchasing my first home. Extremely excited about my investment. I contacted AAA to get a quote because my soon to be Mortgage company would need this for the financing. Got a great quote and even quoted me great car insurance. So as most of you know you have a home inspection done if you are responsible before you buy a home right??? Well I did that and the roof on the home was 5 years old. It was in very good condition. He did note that some granules were washed away on 3 shingles but other than that there was no damage to the fiberglass of the shingles.

I closed on the home on April 14th 2015. On April 18th granted we had a hail storm but it was dime size and I did not see any damage, then on April 29th we had another hail storm - quarter size hail. I again checked my roof. On May 8th AAA sent out a inspector to view the roof just because they were my insurance company. Then on 6/1/15 I was informed by AAA that my Home owners policy will be canceled on 9/1/15 unless I get a new roof. I paid them for an entire year!!! I had the home inspector (from the pre-sale of the home) come back because maybe I missed something. He checked the roof again and found no damage. He advised me that the photos that AAA took were of missing granules and not of hail damage. He also went as far to say this is a manufacturer defect and normal on fiberglass shingles.

So now I am angry because I have no insurance on my roof and I can't afford to put a new one on myself. So much for having insurance!!! They claim it was the underwriters that sent the roof inspector but it feels fishy since the only part of the home that he inspected was the roof!!! I have the photos he took to prove it. They do insure more than just my roof right? I think this is bait and switch. Well I'll do what I can then I will find another insurance company because this is not the way anyone does business and stays in business. AAA stick to towing.

Our tree was huge and healthy but the main root snapped and we watched it come up bringing the covered front porch up by almost a foot and all the ground around it. The fire department came out and taped off ours and the neighbors house and evacuated both. Because of the power lines around the houses the electric company sent out a truck during the storm and topped the tree saving both the houses. Due to the damage on the porch we need to remove the porch, putting a header up to hold it while we take the whole thing apart to get to the foundation and remove the roots that have been lifted.

CSAA will not pay for this, they sent out an adjuster who told them “it was a dead tree”. Even after we told them “it had been cut by the electric company”. They argued that they could see it was dead in the picture. I had to go online and show them with google maps how large and alive it was. They will not pay for root removal so I am out of luck. Had we let the tree fall and take out both houses and the power lines they would have covered it. It will cost me 3500 to fix the deck and it has to be done because now it is crooked from the top down. Very disappointed. I have my seven cars and life insurance through CSAA. I guess it's time to find new insurance. Do not get them for your homes.

They get estimates from the restorators, whose rates are unbelievably high, and cash out leases a percentage until you have the work done. The adjustor offered an approved subcontractor to get my kitchen in order because that is where the cabinets were damaged. The subcontractor that was sent out by AAA would not install the sink because I had bought it myself.

I hired a master plumber. Because the counter needed some tweaks for the sink to fit, it ultimately chipped in two places. If I could put no stars, I would. AAA is only good for towing your car and maybe fixing a flat tire. But that's where the usefulness stops. I have been a customer for over 20 years and have my house and cars insured with them.

A few months ago we had a lot of rain and a huge storm in LA which is unlike our normal weather. Unfortunately, my roof and windows leaked causing major damage in the house. I made a claim with AAA, hoping they would do what they're supposed to do but I was wrong. They sent an adjuster to come take a look at the roof, to see if it was going to be covered or not. I found out that the adjuster actually works for AAA, so clearly they are bias. It should be an independent contractor so that it's not always done in the insurance company's favor. After he came by the house, he said my claim according to my policy is invalid. So what is insurance for then?

Anyway, he went on the roof to review the damage and BROKE SOME TILES. You read that right, AAA came to my house to deny my claim and BROKE TILES ON MY ROOF. He said we will pay for the damage he created on the roof. After MANY CALLS to AAA, I said they need to come and fix the tiles that AAA broke.

To add insult to injury, they sent me a check for $53. How am I supposed to fix my roof with $53 to fix the DAMAGE THAT AAA CAUSED??? I am not a roofer and it is not my job to FIX DAMAGE THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY CAUSED. This wasn't damage from the storm, this was EXTRA from them coming by and looking at the roof to just deny my claim. Wait, something important to know. The check was only $53 because the damage that the AAA rep caused was $553. So, they sent a check after my deductible. You read that right, THEY CHARGED MY DEDUCTIBLE FOR DAMAGE THEY CAUSED TO MY ROOF. DAMAGE THAT AAA CAUSED TO MY ROOF.

And LIE after LIE with all the calls and different managers and supervisors. They said they are going to send me $500 to cover the deductible but THEY HAVE NOT. Instead what they did, after realizing how illegal it is to charge me a deductible for damage they caused, they send $500 to the roofer to fix AAA's damage. I spent thousands of dollars to fix the REST OF THE ROOF and items that should have been covered under my insurance policy.

To summarize, AAA denies my claim for roof damage, claiming roof damage is not covered by my home owners policy for some unknown reason. The AAA rep goes on my roof to review the damage and BREAKS TILES HIMSELF. He claims that AAA will cover the cost. They send me a check for $53 and use my deductible $500. So AAA breaks my roof tiles and subtracts a deductible as if it's a claim. I left several messages for the manager, ** and she NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS.

We were not aware of that prior, and we did not sign any documents to establish the policy. We called and informed AAA that we selected a different insurer and cancelled the policy. A few months later we had received a collection notice, so called and informed AAA about it and they assured us that the cancellation did go through and there is no balance to worry about. We received a collection notice once more and we called and went to the office to let them know and it appeared that they cleared the issue.

We later received an email from a person by the name Grace ** that she submitted proof to cancellation on 06/12/13 and back dated the cancellation of the policy. A few months later we received a refund a check for a little over $100. We noted a collection action appearing on our credit and it was showing for $100 starting January 2015, which came by surprise, since we were under the impression that we had no balance for this policy and after all the adjustments AAA issued a refund check (from charges for Auto and Home Policy combined). We made a visit to AAA office in Cerritos CA, and we spoke with Lizz ** who informed the balance stems from cancellation fee.

Please be sure that we have not received a single letter from AAA informing us of a cancellation fee, which is not valid to begin with since we did not buy the policy to begin with. We are hereby filing a complaint against AAA Insurance for the following reasons: Records with AAA indicated that we had started the policy on 07/28/11, and we closed escrow on 08/31/11. We only called for a price quotation and we proceeded to call other insurers for the best price. Our Hud One can be provided to proof our close date, we did not own the property at the time AAA started the policy for us.

We did not purchase the policy and we called only for a quotation and AAA staff irresponsibly and erroneously merged both home and auto policy. We did not sign any policy paper work with AAA. Our Hud One statement with our lender is showing a different insurer with Effective date of 8/31/11 with Farmers Insurance and we remain with the same insurer till today. AAA failed to inform us of the balance which should not exist to begin with, and their collection agency filed a claim on our credit which caused a lot of harm to our score, all without our knowledge. We find it irresponsible and sloppy and not acceptable.

I did have health issues, and I ask insurance to help. They refuse. 2 months later I have to hire Titan Environmental to test my house, and they find toxic mold which was not removed. Insurance hire another contractor to do remediation. After this Titan certified, that no mold.

I continued to have health issues. I called insurance again, they came and find mold, but refuse to fix it because 2 years passed. And they did another test, which shows I have no mold. How does this happen? I complained to contractors board, bond company, insurance commissioner. I did not get answer from insurance commissioner, but bond company sent me check for 200 dollars, contractors board sent contractor violation letter. I can't live in my house anymore.

I had auto and home insurance with AAA but I just terminated all when all was up for renewal. Premium for next term is suddenly doubled. Home insurance premium increased from $973/year to $2166/year. Auto insurance premium increased from $700/year to $1800/year. For both, not even a claim since I purchased the policy in 2009. It is absolutely absurd. Their reason to boot up premium is because my credit score. I know for sure that I am having good credit report because I just closed my mortgage loan. I think if you have not filed any claim in the last five years, then you have very high chance to file a claim in the next year or so. That is why they try to dump you first.

Been a loyal AAA member over 30 Years. Have all my insurances (Cars, Homes, Earthquake) with AAA. Now AAA tells me to get my Umbrella insurance somewhere else!!! Why?? Because I serve as a volunteer Board Member at a HOA (non profit organization). Sounds too weird and strange to be true??? Yes it is. I even had the case escalated to a supervisor with the same outcome.

AAA does decline umbrella insurance coverage. Because I am a volunteer Board member at an Homeowners Association. Yes there was a claim opened (trip and fall) several years ago against the HOA. Nothing ever happened, but the case is still open. I did of course mention to the supervisor: Did you guys ever hear about the Davis-Stirling Act. Or hear about civil Code Section 5800-5810. Volunteer board members shall not be held liable or cannot be sued when serving on a non profit Organization.

This law was signed into affect so people would be willing to volunteer and offer their time to do good. Now AAA is telling people if you do that we might not Insure YOU!!! Just think about how many volunteers are out there holding a position at a Non profit Organization. Most of which will be sued or have to deal with a claim at one point. And to reward all this volunteers out there, AAA will in return decline coverage!!! Come On AAA - are you for real!

I bought a house back in October. It was my first home and shopped around for homeowner’s insurance. A lot of people recommended AAA to me. They swore up and down by them. I was originally going to go with State Farm who does my car insurance, but I went with AAA. Big mistake. In November they took pictures of my house and I was given my policy. Towards the end of November I received an email from my AAA agent stating that underwriting required my roof to be inspected and fix or my insurance would be terminated. I was told that my roof looked in rough shape in the pictures and they were scared because of a storm Buffalo had just gotten. I live in PA closer to NJ. I got my appointment with a reputable roofing company in our area.

The roof inspector came and didn't understand why he was there. It was explained to me that the roof look great for its age and required no repairs. I received a certified letter from the roofing company and emailed it to my AAA agent. A day later she comes back with new terms from the underwriter. According to the underwriters, it is still believed that my roof needs repairs. They gave me two options, either I raise my premium to $2500 or I have my roof inspected by an inspector they "KNOW and trust." Needless to say I am shopping for new insurance at the moment. I can't believe they have the right to change my policy like me on that after already giving me coverage. And not to mention that they are questioning the professionalism of a company who certified my roof.

To sum up the experience thus far, we had a pipe leak in our wall that caused damage to our walls and flooring. I called a plumber and had the pipe repaired immediately (same day) and Contacted AAA due to amount of repair needed. Agent was ok at first and said he had to have a remediation company come out now. This was at 12 pm and he said they would be there by 4 pm. I told him I did not want people ripping my walls open from 4pm-12am due to having 2 small kids in the house and asked him to set it up for the next morning since the leak had stopped. This was obviously asking a lot due to his tone and he finally agreed when I flat out told him to do what I wanted.

A AAA estimator came out and had his quote into AAA the same day. AAA has had his quote for over 2 weeks now but AAA won't release him to repair the open walls because they keep hammering down their own contractor's price on what needs to be repaired. I've called 3 times to get answers as to what's taking so long for an approval? One guy said, "it's the holidays so we're really busy." The next said she'd have my paperwork complete in 48 hours. Then 48 hours passed and when I called I was told no one would ever tell me that. So in short, they called me a liar. AAA is a joke as far as customer service goes. They lie, then call their customers liars. I'm still waiting to see how this gets resolved. I just want to know how to proceed but nobody on their end has any answers. I'll repost when this gets resolved.

This is an open letter to whom it may concern who want to enroll with AAA home owner insurance. This is my story. Read it and be warned that what is happening to me could happen to you. I have always maintained my home and have had AAA homeowners insurance for 16 years with no claims ever presented to the company. The last week of September of 2014 I notice that the floor of my shower was lifting and thought that perhaps I had a leak. I called AAA to see if this was covered and spoke to Bridget an adjuster, who assured me that I would be covered and since I never had a claim, she would waive the deductible because of my long standing with the company.

Bridget then sent two investigators to my home to check the damage and found that there was a leak in my shower pan. The investigators said that “they have seen minor problems like this many times and that AAA should take care of this”. They said that “just a couple of 2x4’s and the tile at the bottom of the shower was all that need to be replaced, that this was issue and that AAA should pay this claim”.

A few weeks later I received a call from AAA agent Randy who informed me that according to his interpretation of my policy, my claim is denied because they could not tell how long this shower pan leak had existed. He spoke to me in a very condescending and placating manner saying “I understand, I understand.” I explained that “I called AAA as soon as I saw that there was problem and that there could be no way of knowing that a shower pan leak until I saw the floor lifting.” I said that “I have lived up to my part of our contract and that I was very disappointed that they have not.” How could I know of an ongoing leak? I am a female senior citizen and am not accustomed to crawling under my house to check for problems. I demand to know, where in my home owner’s contract, does it say, that I need to continually check under my house for problems. It is insulting to me to have AAA suggest that. Who does that? It appears to me, that this is a suspicious loophole which enables the AAA to avoid paying out a claim.”

I was not ready to ‘let this go’ so I called AAA anonymously and spoke with three separate agents, each time going into detail in re: leaks of this nature. Each agent (I have their names) assured me that this would be covered. Apparently the company does not back up their agents and is only interested in selling policies. The “old bait and switch.” I believe that it is shameful, unconscionable and immoral that AAA would treat a loyal and “valued” member in this fashion. Perhaps AAA should watch their own Television commercials and live up to their own words of “taken good care of their members.”

If I could give AAA of Southern California 0 stars I would. As a consumer, I have never been treated with as much disrespect as I was today by the Insurance Branch Manager **. From the get go, my Husband and I were treated like scum. He was abrupt, smug and unwilling to hear us out. In a nutshell, due to the incompetence and lack of follow through of our Insurance Agent **, our auto and renters policy had been canceled by no fault of our own. I even went into the office when the original issue occurred in October of 2012 to have all of our policies reinstated. Less than a month later the policy (unbeknownst to us) was canceled again as ** failed to file the appropriate form with the underwriter to reinstate the renters policy.

Fast forward to 11/2014 we had a flood with a loss and called to file a claim at which time we were told that we did not have a renters policy effective October 2012. Furthermore, I have correspondence in July 2013 to ** indicating that we have moved to a new address and that I would like to have my address and RENTERS POLICY updated to the new house. An email was received in August 2013, after I had to contact her again wanting to know if the changes had been made and at no time did she mention that I no longer had a current renters policy. Had I been made aware of the situation in 2013 more than a year before my claim in November of 2014, I certainly would have taken the steps to resolve the matter and have the policy reinstated. No communication was made on their behalf to alert me to the issue.

This is only one of the issues that I have encountered while with AAA Insurance. My policies have been canceled on a number of occasions without explanation and without any wrong doing from myself or my Husband. We purchased a new vehicle in October 2013 and it took ** until March of 2014 to properly add my new vehicle to my policy. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION, my financing company went so far as to threaten to invalidate my loan if it was not resolved.... Again I had to contact her to ensure this was taken care of. I have stacks of email correspondence with time and date stamp to support this evidence. I was with Geico for 6 years and I never ONCE had to email them for anything, my policies were always correct and in force.

Please before you give them any of your hard earned money, think again, is the savings really worth the hassle? Shame on you AAA, shame on you ** and **. By the way our conversation was recorded and I have the Branch Manager blatantly tell my Husband that he will do NOTHING for us. I am sure your prospective customers would be delighted to hear how you will go to bat for them when you have a heavily documented case PROVING errors, lack of follow through, poor customer service, and incompetence and excuse after excuse. Long story short, after being run around from person to person, not getting responses, etc....my loan on the house was called for lack of insurance. I finally got the manager of the insurance division to call the loan company and tell them it was AAA's "dropping the ball" that was the issue, but I was still insured. Not knowing what they were gonna do... didn't know if we would sell, rent or what... Did not have much warning. So we took their basic essentials and moved them to an apartment at a senior living facility. We let another family member move in to cover while we were deciding. My parents had still many items remaining in the home. The house burnt and was gutted... and now are being told.. their insurance is null and void because they left..... Now does this happen to people who may go on vacation out of the state for the winter months?? Don't think so... Do they do this to all senior citizens? Does everyone have to hire a lawyer to get paid??? Really frustrated....

I have been using AAA for almost 15 years and has no problems with its services because I had not made any claim. However, when a big oak tree fell destroyed my deck, I realize it is extremely to deal with their adjuster. First, they don't want to accept any proof from me such as policy report, then they question me whether the foundation damage was from the tree fall. Second, they did very lousy estimates while avoid asking me anything was missing, leaving two big items over $2k off (my fountain and patio furniture). Worse of all, the foundation of the deck is broken as the deck is shaking. They didn't want to pay anything.

Then, they asked me to show the proof so my contractor took a pic. It took them 2 months to come back to revisit the foundation damage. The contractor gave an estimate which was about average among several I compared. AAA didn't want to honor his price quota. They twisted numbers by paying a little more on deck but less no tree removal. The ridiculous thing is they agreed on the amount I had already paid out on tree removal. After all these happen, they put little fine small font to exclude/include things in order not to pay the amount my contractor asked for. Very inconsistent, try to force me into an agreement which I can't accept.

On 4/12/14 our area was hit by a severe hailstorm. Golf ball sized chunks dented siding, trees, damaged cars, etc. My nightmarish odyssey with AAA started when I called them about a week after. Their adjuster came out, inspected for hours, and recommended full replacement. AAA didn't like that opinion, so hired an engineering firm. Big surprise when the engineering firm rendered the opinion that AAA paid for--partial repair. The estimate from AAA was pathetic. Not even according to standard roofing guidelines. If you're going to repair my roof, that's fine, but pay to have it done right. Did I mention that at least TWENTY of my neighbors have new roofs? And that this nightmare has been made worse by a lot of non-returning of phone calls, foot dragging, etc.

A week ago I was told another adjuster would call me in a couple of days to schedule an appointment to come out and look at my roof. Guess what? Never called. Never returned my roofer's call. Now I'm told, "Oh no, he's not coming out. Just looking over reports." Their opinion is that my cedar shake roof is 18 years old and that the age of the roof exacerbated the storm damage. Problem is that I've been paying full premiums on this 18 year old roof. I'm sure premiums that were based on its age. Now they're using that against me. And NOW they have a new program that if you have an older roof and want to save money you can insure for its depreciated value. Problem is I was paying the full load. They want it both ways. Almost five months later and I am NOWHERE with these people.

I am a first time home owner and there is a certain amount of stress involved with that. I moved into my home on the 16th of the month. On the 23rd, I received a letter from AAA's underwriting department. The letter was dated the 2nd of the month. The letter stated that their inspector had visited my home and determined that the roof was in very bad shape and had outlived its useful like and needed to be replaced immediately. They gave me until the 6th of the following month to replace it or have my policy cancelled. They did not say it need to be repaired. They insisted on complete replacement.

I was shocked because the roof had been inspected, and there was a separate chimney inspection and the mortgage company's appraisers had been out and nobody had noted any problem with the roof. I called AAA's underwriting department (as instructed in the letter). I had to leave a voice message. They never returned my call. I arranged to have a roof repair company come out and inspect my roof. They said it was "in great shape" but they did note that there was a shingle missing and if I had that replaced they would certify my roof. They said it had at least 10 years left in it.

I forwarded the report to my agent at AAA and he told me that if I got the shingle replaced before the 6th, they would not cancel my policy. I told him that they had obviously made a mistake about the condition of my roof in the first place and that they should be rescinding the cancellation order based on the roof report. It went back to underwriting and they said that they would give me 2 months to have the shingle replaced and if it wasn't replaced in that time period, they would cancel my policy. 1 SHINGLE. The shingle will be replaced this week. The insurance will be cancelled (by me) on the 1st of the month.

First of all I'm giving this one star because it required me to. Otherwise, they would get none. I noticed a leak in my upstairs bathroom at the beginning of this year. I called the local insurance company that hooked me up with this insurance when I bought my house. Side note; I was told I couldn't keep my Progressive Insurance because they didn't offer homeowner's insurance here in KY. Found out later that they do indeed.

The woman at the insurance company said because of the age of the chimney (my house is 80 yrs old) it wasn't covered. I had a local roofer come over and he patched the chimney. That didn't work and not too long after I noticed a leak again. I called him back and he was going to come and do something else. I waited 6 weeks and ultimately found out he was going through medical issues. It took me another two weeks to find someone who could fix the chimney. This is a small town and nobody from any of the companies I called would come out to this far. Finally, I found someone to fix it. At that point the damage inside was more than I could afford so I called the insurance company back and told the woman I wanted to file a claim now, explained the whole thing about the chimney being patched and trying to find someone to come and take care of it when that didn't work.

My contractor communicated with the adjuster assigned to the claim. I also emailed him with the history of the issue, so it wasn't news to him. My contractor said it sounded like they were going to cover the whole thing. When he submitted the estimate the adjuster emailed me and said it was WAY too high and he wanted to come and look at the damage himself. I said that's fine and I'd have the contractor meet him here. After the meeting the adjuster emailed me and said it didn't look like damage that happened after one or two rains and I told him it wasn't, that he had been emailed and told the whole history of it.

He then called me and said they were denying to claim because it was due to rot. I understand the house is old and there is damage in that room but if it's so rotten then why is the rest of the upstairs just fine? This is a very solid house. I tried to talk to him and tell him again how I tried to rectify the damage from the time it started. He was extremely rude and kept cutting me off and saying "Doesn't matter!" I said he made me feel like I was trying to pull something over on them and he said, "You wouldn't be able to!" He was so rude I ended up hanging up on him.

I've never dealt with a homeowner's claim before but my contractor was shocked that they didn't pay anything. And I was shocked to be treated like a common thief. During all this I found out that AAA worked their way into this area by offering trips and other perks to agents to push their insurance (which explains why "Progressive doesn't do homeowners"). I have gone back to Progressive and now feel that after 3 years I'm with a reliable company who will actually insure me and not just take my money and treat me like a criminal when I need help in return.

That was fine but with the winter we had been having (subzero temps, etc) no roofing company would replace the roof at that time. We called and told them this to which we were told fine we will cancel your policy. So my husband and I fixed the roof in the freezing cold, then the underwriters said it needed to be redone but gave us until May. I do not know why they couldn't do that originally. We got the roof replaced and finally were able to be renewed to be told they still could not insure us. It even shocked the agent. I don't know why they just didn't say in the first letter they don't want to insure 100 year old homes anymore because they cost more to replace, but that is what that came down to and we are not happy about that.

On the fourth day one of the original painters did not return. Two weeks following we went to pack for a vacation. My $10,000 opal, $4000 diamond necklace and one diamond earring were missing. I knew exactly the last date I had worn my Opal, as it was for a family party. I remember taking the necklace off, as I was able to undo the clasp on the first try. A very rare occasion. I called the State Police to file a report. The Trooper was very sure he knew what had happened to the jewelry. I sent an email to my AAA Agent outlining the story and gave her the report number from the State Police.

I was advised by email by our AAA agent, "You have a $1000.00 deductible. You have a total of $2500.00 for theft of jewelry. What is the value of that jewelry? If it isn't too much, ( over 1000.00) I would not even file the claim, because you will automatically get a $2500.00 deductible at renewal and your insurance will increase". I had a current Appraisal on the jewelry, but that doesn't apply even for theft. If you loose your jewelry, you have nothing. When I emailed her the price of just the opal, her email reply was, "Oh my, I'm sorry". I only wish I knew everything I needed to purchase to have home owners insurance, flood riders, jewelry riders, why aren't we advised about these little extras that are needed to truly have home owners insurance? I don't know what questions to ask to make sure everything is covered under a home owners policy. To start with, from my very first contact with an AAA person, the adjuster, I felt like I was the enemy rather than a customer. This hasn't changed. I filed a claim against my homeowner policy on about 4/30/14. For what it is worth, although I have been with AAA for only five years I have carried homeowner's insurance since 1969. In all these years this is my second claim. Before I go any further I must say that I have had a couple of minor auto claims, none of which were my fault, with AAA. They were handled professionally and efficiently. I have no complaints in that regard and except for this problem with the homeowner's claim. I would have highly recommended them to anyone.

At any rate my homeowner claim was for damage to my roof due to hail. An adjuster came about six days after I filed my claim and was about the rudest person I have ever had on my property. I almost asked him to leave. After waiting more than two weeks for a report, I called AAA today and asked what was up. Their answer was the damage amounted to less than my deductible. The only problem is that up and down my street various insurance companies are writing checks for roof replacements but somehow the damage to my roof is less than $1000. Now, there is an insurance company that I have seen advertise with an umbrella over the insured property. I am pretty sure that AAA did not have an umbrella over our house.

It is hard to imagine how other homeowners on our street are getting checks over fifteen thousand dollars and my damage amounts to less than one thousand. The houses were all built by the same builder and I am very certain that all of the roofs were of the same quality. I asked if they would send out a second adjuster to look at the roof and was told rather abruptly that they would not do that. I asked about mediation and was told Florida provides for that if I choose that route. I have not yet decided what I will do in that regard. What I have decided is that AAA will not get any more of my money. For five years I have paid, like clockwork, roughly $2500 each year and for that I get treated like a criminal.

My septic system backed up in November 2013 and flooded my downstairs bathroom. After eight weeks of inaction by AAA, I had to threaten to sue to get them to take action. Mind you, I had a bathroom that had been flooded with sewage and no formal remediation had taken place. To keep a long, painful story short we finally resolved the claim thirteen weeks after the flood had taken place and AAA compensated me about 30% of actual cost of remediation. While demolishing the bathroom, mold was found on the shower walls beneath the ceramic tile. Mold remediation is covered under my policy including materials removed to access mold. This represented claim #2. These were our first two claims in thirteen years.

However, AAA sent three letters with different explanations of why they were denying the replacement of materials to remediate the mold. Bottom line, AAA aggressively attempts to deny claims and when they can't deny them they aggressively attempt to minimize the compensation. Assuming they won't renew my policy, I'm now looking for new insurance and find that having two claims in the recent past is a black mark on your "record" and most insurance companies won't insure. I think I found a policy with another company who has similar complaints as the ones found here. All insurance is a scam and AAA is no exception!

Our friend was traveling in Vietnam when the water pipe in her Sacramento, CA home burst due to the cold. Her house was flooded. Her AAA Homeowner Policy Agent was quick to process the initial claim actions to clean up the mess, empty the entire house of furniture and appliances, remove the damaged roof portions, then dry out and cut the walls of her home to determine the extent of damage done by the water. A company assigned by AAA performed the previously mentioned work quickly and satisfactorily. However, the company AAA designated to repair the home was taking an inordinate amount of time to start their work. When they finally commenced this construction, they installed a shower wall that was very inexpensive and flimsy. Our friend decided to cancel the contract and find her own company to perform the reconstruction. The construction company furnished AAA with the estimate for repairs, and a AAA Estimator would validate the estimate.

The AAA Claim representative told us the woman who performed this function was on vacation and would return within a week. After the woman returned, there was a simple matter of her approving the construction estimate and paying the construction company for the work completed. She would then arrange to issue a separate check to our friend for the balance of the claim amount. It has been over a MONTH since the woman returned from vacation, and no check has been issued! When we called to obtain the status of this check issuance, we were continuously told it will be completed "by the end of the week". It has been FOUR "End of the weeks", and tomorrow (05/02/14) will be the fifth week. Meanwhile, this poor woman is living with us and not in her home. This type of customer service is not indicative of a company with the repute of AAA. I would hope they understand that people pay them for service, not vacations or excuses that delay their rightful claim proceeds.

Last weekend we received a large amount of rain. I live in a duplex and own half. On Monday morning our finished basement was full of water. We later found out that the sub pump which is located on the neighbor's side was not working (this is the sub pump for both sides). The float was stuck. She did not have any water on her side. When I called AAA they gave me a claim # and said they would call me back. When AAA called back they asked some questions and then told me that I was not covered for foundation leaks and that they were very sorry and could give me a # to get it cleaned up. Meanwhile I had called a company and they came over and started the clean up. This is going to cost me so far 3000.00 and that is not including the carpet and etc.

The next day I received another call from a female with AAA and she asked what happened and then also proceeded to tell me I was not covered, and all she kept saying was "I am so SORRY!" I am now in the process of looking for another insurance company. I have been a AAA member for 7 years and will not use them ever again as well as advise others not to use them and if they have to to make sure that they get everything in writing and to be careful what you say to them they will somehow use it against you. I do not understand how a person can protect yourself when you have a weather related damage.

Our problems began last April when I contacted CSAA, not to file a claim, but to get information about whether or not sewer pipe replacement was covered in my policy. I had made an emergency payment to my plumber to clear my basement bathroom drain, but he told me it couldn't be completely cleared unless I replaced my entire sewer pipe. I thought maybe my homeowners insurance could help, but I was concerned about how much my annual insurance rate would increase, how much my Insurance would cover for repair and clean up costs, and I questioned whether it would even be worth it to pursue a claim. The AAA representative said they could not answer my questions without sending someone out to my house first to have a look at the damage, and I was told it could be done without opening a claim. So I agreed to a home visit. I did not agree to open a claim, and I was also working on other ways to pay for the repairs.

After 2 months and a completed inspection, underwriting still claimed to be unable to answer my original questions about insurance coverage and rate increases, and apparently a claim had been opened sometime in April without my permission. So to prevent an increase in my insurance rate and the added stress of going through insurance, I notified the adjuster by phone and e-mail to close the claim on May 16, 2013. A check was sent to me for an emergency plumbing repair that I had already paid for myself, and I had not asked for a check, so I never used it.

Since then, I and the plumbers were proved wrong about our concern that the basement bathroom drain could not be cleared without replacing the entire sewer pipe. The downstairs bathroom drain has been completely cleared and the backup mess has been cleaned and disinfected. The inspector noticed where my plumber had removed some drywall in a basement room during repairs on a previous plumbing leak after my house was re-piped. I have someone to replace the drywall.

Six months later in November 2013, CSAA sent a letter stating intended non-renewal for our insurance policy, but it wasn't sent to my address and I didn't see it until February 12, 2014. I had not realized that we had to prove our case before policy expiration Jan 3. Based on misinformation, the underwriting department assumed we still had a clogged, broken sewer pipe, and apparently didn't see the Pipe Spy report, and assumed a lack in general maintenance with associated risks too high to continue insuring the house. Pipe Spy did not actually find any breaks in the sewer pipe.

The other piece of misinformation they based our non-renewal on was missing drywall in a downstairs "living room," when it is actually a downstairs basement area. There is no living room there. And I have someone to replace the basement drywall. Basically they used all my questions against me, questions they never answered, lied to me and opened a claim without my permission, accused me of not properly maintaining my house, then declared the house too high a risk, and cut us off after taking our money every year for over 50 years!

We recently worked with a builder who bought an existing home, tore it down and rebuilt. A few weeks before closing, we called and got a quote based on the independent appraisal received that we received for the value of the land and dwelling. We were originally quoted a rate for full replacement value of just the dwelling but ended up raising that to cover the cost of the loan to satisfy the lender. An approval letter and proof of coverage was sent to the mortgage and title insurance and closing completed without issue. Then one day after closing, AAA Homeowners Insurance called and said that the underwriter, based on a handful of pictures taken in winter, deemed the house to have a full replacement value of nearly 50% more than the appraised value doubling our premium. Their estimate for full replacement value was double what we paid in construction costs just that month to complete the build. They said that they would cancel our insurance if we not pay the additional premium. We are now shopping our insurance to another provider and taking our auto insurance with us. This is the classic definition of a bait and switch. VERY unhappy.

Then the adjusters wanted the CC & R's for the HOA to see if they could find an exclusion listed for liability by neighbors. Well there wasn't one. Then they tried to see if they could get me to incriminate my neighbors by verifying they rent it out periodically. I wouldn't help them. Then they wrote me a letter saying they won't pay because the neighbor didn't flood my property on purpose.

Just unbelievable, So I was forced to sue the neighbor so their underlying policy would kick in but the lawyer just stole my money and lied to me saying the judge threw the case out. So I lost about $70,000 and AAA and my neighbor and the lawyer or the HOA insurer just left me hanging. AAA is awful. I had my car insured by them and someone hit me from behind in a turn lane, AAA said it was my fault so they wouldn't have to cover the deductible on repairs. They are certainly dishonest... AAA cut our homeowners cost in half so we switched to them. Well, they sent out their inspector with his little camera, and a month later we get a cancellation notice because our sun-porch wasn't sturdy enough for them and our house had chipped/peeled paint on it!!! Since when is chipped paint on clapboard a fire hazard??? And who will paint a house at the end of November??? They told us to simply prop one corner of the porch and send pics, and that we had to paint our house by next October. No big deal. We put cement blocks and 4x4 posts under the porch (more than we needed and more stable than it was when we bought the house) and emailed the pics.

I have no doubts that we could stuff 100 heavy weighted people on that porch.. and it would hold the weight, and the porch is only 17' by 7'. Well, not good enough for them, and they won't send an inspector out to check the "fixed" work. We had 2 days to find an insurance company that would insure our home. Our former agent took us back, and with great rates. It was built in 1926 and consists of better material than most new homes. It's sound and built well. Thankfully our previous insurance agent set us up with coverage for everything and without lapse of insurance on our home. They don't even do an inspection!! People, if you plan to go with AAA for especially homeowners, make sure your home is in pristine condition. Better yet, ask that they send their inspector first (before you cancel and switch everything over to them) and guarantee they won't threaten to cancel you a month later.. and give 2-3 weeks to renovate your home!! I insure 4 automobiles, a auto trailer, 2 jet skis, 2 boats and my house with AAA. A month ago, I found out my dishwasher was leaking at the drain. It appeared to have been happening for about 1 month, but I called in my claim the day I found the leak. I now have 3 estimates from licensed contractors stating my replacement cost is $14,400 to $14,900. All 3 estimates are in the same price range.

AAA sends me a quote, using some program that estimates cost. The amounts of the estimate are not even close to realistic. Such as dry wall repair - $25.00. I have 20 feet by 1 foot of drywall to patch. To bring a drywaller out, it will be well over $25.00!! AAA first estimated $8800, and then $8900. I have priced cabinets for this replacement job and it is well over $6500 just for cabinets!!! I am ready to take legal action! I have not been out of a kitchen for 4 weeks! No sink, no dishwasher, no counter tops, no cabinets and my sub floor is black! Do not use AAA!!! They might save you $100 a year, but when you make a claim, AAA won't pay!!!

When I pointed out the number of shingles on the ground, he said that they may have come from the neighbor's houses. Both of the neighbor's roof are being replaced because of the same damage. He told me that AAA would give me $100 for a bundle of cedar shake shingles and $400 for someone to repair the damage. He went on to tell me that a lot of people would be glad to earn $400 for a day's work. The window frames (approx 30) have lots of dents and two of them have holes in them. He proposed to repair the sashes. Very arrogant and condescending. My roofer brought several things to his attention and he said that he wasn't there to discuss these things, just to look at the house. Going around with the agent, I was told it was classified wrong by the underwriter. 6 months later and numerous phone calls, nothing has been changed or corrected. No reimbursement as I would be told would happen.

I had the study done a week later and it came back good, so I called AAA back and talked with the salesman and he said yes it did come back good.

I told him that furthermore, I got a better quote for the car and he really went off. He was hollering that I wasted his time. We were sent a letter saying that our PPC changed and would affect our rate, then we got our new premium and it had gone from 1650 to 3350. We were longtime customers with AAA but have now changed. Here is a copy of the final email sent to one of their supervisors that claimed to have sent me a screenshot of our ISO rating. The email had no screen shot and this is my reply:

FYI, the screenshot was not in your email, and I did not see any attachment either. AAA has lost a long-time customer not only because of a beyond unreasonable rate hike, but also because we were told so many different reasons for the increase. I was told that our dwelling amount had increased because of construction material cost increase. Although when I pointed out that there had been greater increases in previous years with an actual decrease in our premium, AAA had no answer. I was told that "maybe there are fewer employees at the fire station." I was told that "we got your premium wrong for all the past years." SERIOUSLY? My husband was told by your rep Christy ** that our rate was increased because we are more than 10 miles from a fire station.

When I called and told a different rep that we were 7.2 miles from the fire station, she said that our rate was increased because we were more than 5 miles from a fire station, but I could go get a letter from the fire station and submit it to AAA. (What good would this do if AAA changes their rules on mileage depending on who we talk to?) I was told that our PPC rating had changed to a 10, but AAA wouldn't have any actual documentation for that - I asked how they came about the knowledge… Word of mouth? I was told that AAA had documentation but only the underwriters had it. And lastly, I was told that your email had a screenshot of the ISO rating on our property, but it is mysteriously missing from the email. Why am I somehow not surprised? It is my understanding now, through different sources, that our property has been a 10 and did not change to a 10.

If AAA has decided that rural properties that are beyond 5 miles from a fire station are too high risk they should have had the integrity to call us and say so. We may have still kept our auto through AAA. But instead, AAA just sent a letter saying our PPC has changed - which it has not. According to your own people, you made the error for THE LAST 5 YEARS. So if THAT is true, how come you sent this letter saying the PPC had changed? If the PPC changing was the truth, then how can AAA say they made an error? It can't be both now, can it? Even with a rating of 10, an increase over 100% to the new premium quoted is out of line with the rest of the market. Shame on you AAA. Another carrier has been glad to take our business with better coverage and less cost on both home and auto. You will be receiving our cancellation letter.

P.S. Here's a tip for the supervisor Alice, telling a customer "thank you for your patience and understanding" when that customer is frustrated and angry, is only patronizing and disingenuous.

After finding a water pipe in the attic frozen and destroyed our entire house in California, we called AAA to file a claim. An adjuster explained that they were not sure the claim is covered, but I explained that this was an "accidental and sudden loss." They then state that it's covered, but they need to send in "environmentalist" to be their "eyes and ears" and document the damage for them, that this "environmentalist" has the equipment and experience to test the mold and water damage. They were actually AAA's Direct Repair Network of Home Repair Contractors. No pre-demo mold test was ever done. It takes an AAA adjuster almost an entire month to make the first visit to our home.

Before this visit we got a letter stating that "the following payment has been made," it's for $3,350.94 for "dry cleaning". Our fabrics, that had primary contamination of mold spores, were taken from the house and had been transported over 100 miles away to a warehouse (another Direct Network of AAA). This did not make sense to us. These were items that should be disposed of and given replacement value, as our policy states. It's not cost effective to dry clean.

Meanwhile, the adjuster showed up almost a month later, never checked to see if we have contracts with any contractors, didn't give us the choice of our own contractor (they state these substandard contractors will rebuild our house); our house was gutted and later I found out without county permits. I'm concerned because there are health and safety issues involved here. Most of it went into the dumpster(s) and they put contaminated items in our garage which had no damage at all. Our 275-gallon tank of diesel fuel lock is combo'ed open and it's gone. AAA adjuster stated to get it refilled, fax them the receipt and they'd reimburse us.

That never happened and we faxed it several times. We should have called the sheriff and filed a report for over $500 of stolen property. My keys to the house and fence and shed were never found. We had to cut locks off. I hired a Public Adjuster who received 10% of any check AAA wrote except when AAA found out we had a county building inspector find there were no permits, they forked over a large check to the Public Adjuster only for almost $25k (apparently later we find out they never paid the contractors who gutted our house and told them to go after us for their money. They couldn't sue us because we have no contract, so they sold their debt to a collection agency who then sued us for almost $40k).

Next, we got a mold clearance report from one of their Certified Industrial Hygienist. But when I went to see the house, I could physically see mold still. They stuck by the clearance report. I did not trust them. So, I hired my own CIH, paid out of pocket (they reimbursed us out of $10k mold limit money), and it showed that it should not have cleared. They gave us a check for the rest of the mold limit money. Next, their electrician (another Direct Network Contractor), again traveled many miles, cleared our house and stated that it was ready for all drywall. When I flipped the breakers back on to the house, smoke started coming out of one of the attic vents. Again, you can't trust them. I hired my own electrician who found safety issues, voltage lines not capped off... AAA's electrician sent us his resume and stated he didn't have a ladder. Our house could have caught fire!

I filed complaints with the CA Department of Insurance (they sent AAA my letter and AAA gave me another year for statute of limitations to sue them because they never gave me proper paperwork. Usually, you only have one year statute of limitations to sue from date of loss), CA Contractors Board and tried contacting several lawyers in the state of CA. No lawyer would take it on contingency.

I got very ill. I had just had a baby when this loss happened, and my immune system was not very strong. I had salivary gland infections in both glands, stiff neck with meningitis-like symptoms that I was hospitalized and given Vancomycin Antibiotic IV and other antibiotics for (had to stop nursing my baby), shingles, and I'm in my 30's.

It's been three years and my fabrics are still at the dry cleaning warehouse. Knowing that these items very well could still have contamination, I recently showed up to take photos and have the fabrics tested by a CIH. I paid to find priceless, disturbing facts. The items continue to be contaminated with toxic "active" mold growth. These are items that were to be delivered back to the house and used on a daily basis. We were never given replacement costs for these fabrics.

This has been a journey of pure injustice that affects the health and safety of my family, others and me. Throughout this claim, we were promised that AAA would get us back to "Pre-Loss Conditions" as our policy promises. I have done and learned that you have to be your own advocate and do not trust that what you are told to be the truth. You have to fight for and sometimes die for the truth because it is your family and your home.

In early August, I had a severe overnight slab leak in my home. By the next morning, my plumber and a leak detection service had repaired the damage and rerouted the faulty pipe. 2-3 weeks later, the tiles on my lanai began lifting up from below. The lead had been in my living room, twelve feet from the lanai where the tiles were lifting. I called AAA to report the slab leak and the related damage. They sent someone to assess the situation. The lanai tiles were laid six years ago and we have never had a problem. It seemed obvious that the slab leak had precipitated the lifting of the tiles. Now an assessor visit, several phone calls to our original AAA representative, the claim representative, a division supervisor and visits from now two engineering firms, we still do not have a deliberation. The tiles on our lanai are dangerous, bulging and cracking when walked upon. This is 3 months later.

AAA is telling us that the damage is due to the mortar used to install the tile flooring becoming de-bonded from the concrete slab and that the tile was installed adjacent to the hard stops (i.e. walls). No final deliberation has been made, but they have weaseled out of paying for anything thus far. Obviously, tiles lifting up following a bad slab leak are related to the leak. We signed on with AAA because of their excellent record with car service. Unfortunately, their insurance business is sorely lacking in integrity and honesty. If they will not come to bat for us in such an obvious and minor instance of damage, heaven help us if a hurricane hits! No one has given us an ounce of support or real listening. I discourage anyone from signing on with this inferior and despicable company.

My furnace (hot water heat) boiler blew a piece of metal out of it. According to section 12 in my policy, "sudden and accidental tearing apart, cracking, burning or bulging of a heating system" is covered in the policy. I filed a claim on October 8. They called in a "forensic engineer" to determine the cause, and I think to find a way out of paying the claim. Today, on Oct. 31, 23 days later (with no furnace) they called and said it is not covered because it is too old and it was caused by wear and tear, low water level, and a mechanical failure. A "tearing apart" would always be caused by a mechanical failure. They would never had to pay. Water was all over the basement, the break was at the top of the boiler, so I don't see how the water level could be low. I'm not sure what recourse consumers have over the insurance companies. I did file a complaint with the state insurance commission.

In August I had a leak in my ceiling. I had concerns it might be a roof leak because of a recent rain. I called AAA to inquire about the need for a claim. I spoke to an adjuster named Lucas **, who gave me a restoration # and told me to call. It was never my understanding that it was my financial responsibility.

I had Farmers Insurance previously (who I will gladly go back to) and reported a similar problem (both AC issues). Farmers deployed an adjuster who gave me the option to pursue action. AAA is a call center and lets you deal it! I received a $317 bill from the water restoration co. for doing nothing but locating the leak. Even they said that they've never had an insurance company put the bill on the client. I paid an AC company to repair the leak and no serious damage was done ($150). Lucas was condescending, loud and direct on the phone, defensive and quite unprofessional. I was not angry when I called but furious when I hung up. Absolute disappointment and will not refer anyone to this company. They should stick to roadside assistance. Farmers will appreciate my business again.

We have been unfairly penalized! We had homeowners insurance for the past 11 years with AAA. Due to a recent move to get closer to work, we had to change our residence into a rental property. AAA does not provide rental coverage so we had to switch insurance agencies. We found out upon switching agencies that there was a claim filed back in 2008 for my residence. It was never paid out or anything, listed at $0. I did call AAA back in 2008 to research whether a bathroom leak would be covered under my insurance. I was told no. Well, that one phone call became a "claim filed" on my plan. This means that I am unable to get a "claim free discount" anywhere else and require a higher deductible. AAA never sent a claim agent to my house or anything. It was just a phone call to see if something would be covered and now I am being penalized.

I called AAA and they refused to remove it stating that they don't remove any claims. They stated that anytime you call a claims department to see about coverage, it is considered a claim because they have no way of determining our coverage without filing a claim. It was a horrible experience with multiple people. I was planning on going back to AAA in March when we completed a new home construction (currently renting). Now, I will never ever go back to AAA. They lost a customer for life and I will let as many people as possible know about my experience.

In 2010, I was forced to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy and I have been doing my best to stay current on all of my obligations of the bankruptcy. First, my auto rates jumped to an unheard of amount. Today, I received my renewal for my homeowner's and was outraged at the increase which is double what I paid last year. I did have a claim for the roof on my barn this year. I have been with AAA for over 20 years. So much for customer loyalty. One hiccup and this is how they treat you. When I called after my auto rates increased, no sympathy, just the usual that everybody's rates are increasing and that, of course, my credit score also had an impact since they check it every 2 years.

Well, how come my rates never decreased when I had perfect credit? But like so many others, circumstances arose and I had to make that painful decision. I have never missed a payment or was late since it is automatically deducted from my account. My agent won't even return my calls. I feel that it is ridiculous that your credit score should have any effect on my rates considering my past record. I have contacted another insurance company and will be switching next week. As I stated above, loyalty doesn't mean anything anymore. I hope this makes others aware and realize that they aren't alone.

My home has been assessed at over 1000 square feet, which is larger than its true size. After multiple attempts to have the square footage adjusted, the only answer I've been given is to pay for a profit-based firm that works on behalf of AAA's interest to charge me more to come out and mis-use their calculator for AAA's benefit. I've had a state-licensed general contractor, the city's tax assessor, and the city's assessor appraisal; but I was told that they were wrong, even though they both went from the blueprints of the home and the city assessor is a government firm. 2200 square feet is a long way away from 3500 square feet. And I find it odd that the government would allow such deceptive practices to go on in the state.

My next contact will be the department of consumer protection. This has been going on for more than a year. Recently, I also had a tree limb fall during a storm, and damage a recreational vehicle on my property, which they claim should be covered by other insurance. It's a terrible company. Believe me if this happened to me, how many others are misled?

Then, I finally found a # to call & the person gave little info & said someone would get back to me. I called on Monday & got through to someone who said the person on Saturday should have called him. I had an adjuster at our home by Tuesday. Adjuster took 3 weeks to get his report in. My case manager, Patricia, made sure all of my questions were answered. We ended up having a public adjuster help us to facilitate getting the funds to make repairs & replace damaged items. Patricia was very good with her communication & got checks right out to us after they went through the insurance adjuster's approval. He must have had a lot of work because it seemed like all delays on the insurance end went back to him.

We have only been with AAA for a year, but after our experience with them for this unfortunate accident, I would have to say that we are really happy with not only our rates, but the services we received. This is not a complaint. Under the circumstances, we feel very fortunate about the way we were treated by AAA of South Florida.

Three weeks ago, I filled out a form on the internet for insurance quotes on my home. I was contacted by an agent in my area for AAA and when I gave him the information on my home, he came back with a quote of $657 a year, and had the dwelling at $157,000 and personal property at $94,000. I told him that was agreeable, as the houses in my neighborhood are selling for $80,000, where they were going for $130,000 five years ago. He sent me the paperwork for that amount to sign and send back to him, which I did. AAA requires that you give them your bank account number, so they can draw the premiums directly out of your account.

So on the day that my policy was supposed to start, they withdrew the agreed upon amount out of my account, for the first three months of the policy coverage. The agent told me that within 10 days, I would get all of the paperwork on my policy. Last Friday, I got those papers and was outraged when I read them. No one ever came out to look at my home. They just required that I take a picture of the front and back of my house and send it to them. Evidently, some underwriter decided that by those pictures, my house was suddenly raised to $274,000 for the dwelling and added on an additional $27,403 for other structures on my property, which do not exist, as I have no other structures on my property. So I have no clue what pictures they were looking at.

They also upped the contents to $164,000. It all added up to my premium now being upped to $979 a year, with a $1,000 deductible, which is more than three times what my house is worth. I immediately called this so-called agent, and tried telling him about the bill that I just received, and how totally wrong it was. I couldn't even get a sentence out before he cut me off and told me to shut up. I was appalled to be talked to this way, when I had every right to be angry and questioning this man as to what was going on. I tried telling him that this was unacceptable, and he hung up on me. I then tried calling the company headquarters, and was told by them that I had to handle this problem through my agent, which of course I knew by then was going to be impossible, since he was such a rude and unprofessional person.

I tried calling him back, and got his voicemail, so I left a message telling him that I, or anyone else in my position, had every right to be upset; and that since they had my bank account number, I was upset that they could just deduct the added amount they now said that I owed, even though the underwriter had clearly screwed up so badly; and that I was advising him that I did not give my consent for them to deduct one more dime from my account, as I would be looking for insurance elsewhere. A while later, I got a call back from this rude, boorish man stating that he refused to listen to my entire message, and that I should just call him when I had other insurance and he would cancel my account with AAA, and then he hung up on me again.

I am 55 years old, and have been a homeowner for 30 years, and have never been treated so badly, or so unprofessionally with any other insurance company or its so-called agents in my life. This so-called agent, whose name is James **, and is based in Lee's Summit, Missouri, was as nice and sweet as he could be to get my business, but once he had it, and his company clearly screwed up royally on my policy, he became nothing but rude and condescending to me. He basically told me that I had no right to question what was going on. He is the epitome of the smarmy used car salesman, who sells you a lemon and knows it, and then laughs in your face when it breaks down, and tells you that he will do nothing about it.

I guess I am lucky that I found out how bad this company is before I had to make a claim with them on damage to my home. But I am still angry that I wasted all this time on this horrible and unprofessional company. They should stick to being an auto club membership company, and get out of the insurance business, as they totally suck. Stay as far away from this company as you can get, and if you do get scammed by them, as I did, then check your state insurance dept. about making a complaint against them. I did here in Missouri, and was told by the woman that I talked to that there was definitely something wrong with how I was treated by this unscrupulous company.

They will now have 20 days to respond to my formal complaint with the state, but I am sure that they will lie and find some way to blame me for it, even though I was the one who did everything that was requested of me, and they got my money, only to then try and get away with what I see is fraud - plain and simple.

I also received several disclaimers in regards to possible damage which they do not cover. Interestingly, also included is a letter noting: "The AAA Direct Repair Network of Home Repair Contractors" - is a law changing in re-disaster coverages. There is also a reference to "Hazard Reduction Premium Discount" of 65% (doesn't say percent of what amount), and references to dwelling tied or braced to the foundation using "approved anchor bolts, installed according to approved building code standards."

It also mentioned the bracing standards in approved building codes, and water heater secured to building frame. How vague is "approved building codes?" That is an escape of responsibility. AAA knows your address and these codes should be defined in accordance with or citation of a particular State, and/or any other applicable building code.

AAA is scamming homeowners. This document is extremely vague. It isn't informing the insurance-holder of anything specifically, but states an undefined "requirement." This looks more like the sales staff concocted it, particularly with the ad for the AAA-recommended building companies. The language is not legal language. What can be done? Has anyone else received a removal of their $1,000 deductible and replaced with 15% of damages deductible with various surprising disclaimers?

I made every attempt to resolve this matter with AAA, and the police/sheriff's department who refused to make an arrest or investigate the incident, even though I had called in a 911 report, and met with the police, who thereafter met me for a standby, to retrieve what I could of my stolen property.

AAA wrote to me to fill out an itemized list of my missing belongings and damages to my property. AAA stated they would be able to obtain the police report even months later, and failed to do so. I repeatedly called AAA to get this resolved. They changed agents, and gave me the runaround. I turned the other cheek, and I in turn, notified the court’s hall of records in Redwood City, CA. The clerk told me the Sheriff’s Dept. would issue a new report. They sent me to pick it up, and the Sheriff became uncooperative, and refused. AAA stated they cannot honor my claim, without the police report stating my property was stolen.

They wanted pictures. I sent in pictures of my horse trailer, the damages, and pictures of more than 11 horses I raised, and showed on the equestrian circuit. Thus, to prove I had equipment and farm/ranch supplies/horses for the past 40 years. I also have proof of my horse registration papers, equestrian club papers, family and friends who will verify my past/ownership of my property.

AAA stated they would be able to get the Police report, and thereafter failed to follow through. I went to the court filings of police reports records. They told me if they can't find the police report, they will make a new report for the insurance company and me. They sent me to the sheriff’s dept., and they refused and gave me the runaround, wasting my time. They also stated that I might be doing insurance fraud, and they are not giving me a police report. I told them to arrest me for it then, and investigate the perpetrators, and search their property for my stolen items.

I went back to the court house records, and she gave me proof of incident, and AAA refused to pay my claim for loss and damages on my home/renter's owner’s insurance claim. I attempted every way possible to get the police to do their job, but they refused. Now, AAA wants to interpret the unofficial incident report I retrieved from court records the way they want, and refused payment.

AAA is contradictive, and sent me on a wild goose chase to jump through their hoops, with no intentions of ever paying my claim. I have paid into my renter's insurance for approximately a half of a decade, or more. If you have attorneys that could help, I am in Palo Alto, CA. Please connect me to an attorney in my area to get this resolved with the Sheriff's Dept. and AAA insurance.

I decided to switch my homeowner's and auto insurer to AAA on October 24, 2011. All went smoothly, and I was given a very competitive combined rate. On December 2, 2011, I was sent a "Confirmation of Policy Cancellation" of my homeowner's policy by AAA. The two reasons given were the lack of a safety rail around the rear balcony, and because "the chimney is crumbling". The safety rail issue was a quick and easy fix, and being a former building code official for the city of Grand Rapids, I knew the chimney was structurally sound. Still, I contacted a chimney repair contractor, who confirmed my opinion.

The AAA agent who handled my policy change said he was sympathetic, but it was out of his hands, so I subsequently asked if I could at least get an extension to have the chimney rebuilt, until the outside temperature was high enough to allow the mortar to set. The agent ignored my request, and because the expiration date that AAA had given me (1/06/2012) was so close, I found another insurer. My suspicion is that this was an instance of redlining by AAA, since I was willing to comply with their demand, and only requested additional time to do so.

I found another insurer, who agreed with my assessment of my chimney, and did not require any repair to it. Still, since I hope to sell the house this year, and because the cost to rebuild it was less than $500.00, I paid to have it rebuilt within 2 weeks of the expiration date AAA had given me. I can't understand where this could be anything other than redlining.

Recently, the local AAA Insurance office sent out a person who surveyed our home. This person went through the home, mostly making notes on anything she perceived to be designer upgrades. Despite the fact that our home has not changed substantially since we first changed our coverage to AAA, we were shocked to see a 32.5% increase in our homeowner's premium. We were told that it was because of all the designer upgrades we had made (note that most of these, such as crown moulding, we did ourselves for very little money) and the cost of rebuilding our home.

We checked with some local contractors on the projected sq. ft cost to rebuild our home, and there is a $25 - $30/sq. ft difference in their estimates versus what AAA says it would cost. Their estimate is $258/sq ft. We feel as if we are being gouged in order to help AAA rebuild their reserves.

We're a great customer and have all our insurance coverage with AAA (cars, home, earthquake and umbrella policy), take excellent care of our property so low risk and have had no claims. We asked for a re-survey with a chance to see what they thought was so incredibly different, but they denied it. The impact of this value re-assessment affects both our homeowners and earthquake coverage.

For homeowners, it is a 32.5% increase and for earthquake, it is a 28.5% increase. In these economic times, that kind of increase is a significant hardship and appears arbitrary on who gets it and who doesn't. While expected increases (eg. our car insurance with AAA went up 4.7% yty, which we find reasonable), increases in this range do not track to current market conditions, not the least of which is the cost of available labor, which is plentiful.

March 07, 2009. We had a kitchen fire. We submitted a claim. The AAA of Texas Adjuster Kathy ** never set foot in our house to inspect the damage. She argued with us every step of the way through the quoting process and treated us as if we were criminals. We had been with AAA for 35 years and did not deserve the treatment we received from Kathy ** and AAA.

We hired a contractor to repair the damage. However, Kathy ** was giving us road blocks every step of the way. One big issue was the heating (A/C unit). We submitted 4 different contractor quotes for each one stating that the HVAC unit needed to be cleaned and/or replaced, as well as the duct system. Kathy ** refused to take this into consideration during the claim process. She made us take the HVAC system cleaning and duct out of the quote as she would not reimburse us for this. Kathy ** felt it was not necessary. We argued this point for over five weeks. We finally gave up and moved on, because after 6 weeks, we needed to get our house repaired.

8 months later, our HVAC system has failed. We called a repair service Air Repair, and they found grease, dirt, and smoke residue on the inside of the system causing the failure due to the fire in March. We called AAA. Kathy ** explained the situation on December 10, 2009. She sent one of her own A/C repair service people out to inspect as well on December 16, 2009. The tech agreed that the unit was indeed dirty, greasy, and in need of cleaning or replaced due to the fire.

Today is January 4. We still have a heating system that is not functioning properly. 30 days have passed, and the weather is not getting warm anytime soon! We were told today by Kathy ** they would not be fixing the AC heating unit, just as she did 8 months ago. She said our AC Heating unit was in the attic and not affected.

Now, if Kathy ** from AAA had done her job as an agent and inspected our damage, she would have seen our unit is not in the attic but next to the kitchen with one intake vent in the kitchen.

The unit has smoke, grease, and fire damage; and AAA continues to refuse to fix it. I have been paying on my home insurance policy for 10 years. We are entitled to all damage be repaired. Since Kathy ** never stepped foot in our house to inspect the damage, how can she determine what did not need to be repaired? AAA did not do their job neither did Kathy **. They used unfair business practices and processes in handling this claim.

Feb. 09, I called to check on my insurance premium for my home owners policy for 2009. I was told it was going up to 875/yr. This is the 3rd year of this policy- 1st yr-475, 2nd yr-624, 3rd yr- 875. I was told that as of 2-1-09, AAA increased Illinois home owners policies by 18% based on their current credit reports. Now is not the time for companies to adhere to these types of practices. My payment is pulled out of escrow yearly & I was never notified by AAA of the increase. I would not have know until the payment was made & the bank would send me a notice stating my house payment is going up. This is a very unfair practice & very unethical of AAA.

We have lived in our first home for less than 2 years. Our home was built in 1926 but has been maintained in excellent condition with appropriate upgrades to the roof, electrical wiring, and floor. Our home was inspected upon purchase, and we were told that we have an exceptional home with minimal problems. We were insured by AAA for property insurance, car insurance, and through the CEA Earthquake insurance. We recently experienced several rainstorms in January. The first rain storms were associated with fast/hard winds that caused our phone wires to drop. With the second rains we experienced roof leaks in our second bedroom and kitchen. After filing our claim, a restoration specialist came to our house promptly and performed a thorough interior/exterior inspection. He told me that AAA would cover interior damage, and may cover damage to the roof contingent upon the inspection report of a roof specialist. The same day, shortly after the restoration specialist left, the roof inspector came. He spent minimal time inspecting the interior/exterior, and left my home without communicating to me his conclusions. The restoration specialist told me on the day of inspection that fans needed to be placed in our home ASAP to dry out the walls due to the degree of humidity and the urgency of the issue. After not hearing from anyone by the 3rd day, we called AAA. This was the first time was were introduced to our claim adjuster, Brian. He neglected to contact us to tell us that our claim was denied, and the fans were our responsibility to order and pay. Upon questioning why our claim was denied, we were told that the roof inspector relayed to Brian that leakage was due to lack of maintenance and that the rain gutters were clogged.

We argued the following facts: 1) The night of the leaking, we called an emergency service out to place a tarp on the roof to prevent leaking. They observed proper drainage without obstruction of the gutters; 2) There was no rain on the day of the inspections, and the roof inspector did not test the gutters; 3) Significant wind occurred with the first rain storm, and we have experienced no leakage from any rainstorms prior to the most recent storm when wind had preceded the event. It now has been 3 weeks, and we still are trying to get an answer while our walls continue to maintain humidity, facilitate mold growth, and propogate further structural damage. We have to call AAA daily and get shuffled around without any resolution. Brian has neglected to provide us with any definitive answer as to whether our damage will be covered by AAA and no direction in how to go about resolving the problem. He states that he still is waiting for the roof inspector report...

The consequences economically and structurally remain undetermined.

An arson fire destroyed the inside of our house on April 16, 1997. The contents were severely damaged.

The insurance company denied access to my wife when we were trying to inventory the contents of our house. She arrived at the storage warehouse to finish the inventory and Class A Cleaners (the warehouse operators) told her the insurance company had closed it to her because they were going to do their own inventory.

The insurance company hired people to do the inventory and they mixed up the boxes to the point where we could not do a complete inventory without doing the whole job over. The insurance company has never provided us with a complete inventory from thier records.

The adjustor delivered a final check to the contractor without my authorization. After I had specifically told them in person and in writing that no check was to be issued without my express authorization. They did this with both the contractor and the storage firm.

Our policy has a clause that says I can sue them according to state law. I filed a complaint against them with the Oklahoma State Department of Insurance. I have since found that according to insurance law, I had to sue them within one year of the date of the loss instead of within three years of the date of the loss. The insurer never told me about the provision. Because they issued payment to the builder, I had no leverage to force him to repair items that were poorly done.

The builder's subcontractors installed warped doors, painted hardware on the doors, drew pictures on the wall in the garage, made holes in the walls and ceiieling in the garge to run wiring, left the cold air return vent out of the heating system for the downstairs (which starved my heating system and made our heating and cooling bill go up approximately 20%), installed drywall so poorly that you can see the outline of the ceiling drywall joints and on the walls in several places. I had to sue the builder to recover the cost of repairing the damage. If the insurer had not been so unprofessional, I could have had the work repaired by withholding final payment until it was satisfactory. The heating and air conditioning part will require another law suit to recoup cost of repairing their poor work.

The adjustor come to our house to try to finalize the loss. He insulted my wife, and left without finishing the adjusting because she reacted to him immediately. He then sent a check for the amount he arbitrarily set. Several items were not agreed to by me, and some were not discussed at all. He is offering a final settlement of about $3500. There is about $11,000 to $13,000 left to be settled.

His people estimated a cost of $1 each for Kodak slide tray boxes (the actual cost was between $5 and $6 per box. We feel there were at least twenty boxes of contents that we never inventoried due to the insurance company's interference. They have refused to pay for replacement of items such as drum rack clamps that were custom built to my son's specifications, they have refused to pay for replacement of a custom-built weight lifting rack (they call it homemade). They have refused to pay for electronic equipment that has never been returned to us, or has been damaged by water and smoke. We now have estimates for the repair and replacement. We intend to make one more try before going to arbitration.

The claim is not settled yet. And it has been over two years.

If we had been poor people without funds to weather this situation, I am confident the adjustor would have forced us to lose money on everything and that he would have been a very happy individual. He appears to enjoy making people feel uncomfortable and taking advantage of them. He seems to be very upset because I would not capitulate.
