UPDATED 10/11/2023: 1 month after I purchased this problem the ice maker stopped working?? I set up an appt. The tech came and ordered a part. He came back to repair, but ordered the wrong part 3 times?? Another tech came and ordered another part. He had to call someone else to get instuctions on install how to do it.. He told me to give it a while & let water run thru it ? The ice maker never worked again. The freezer started frosting at the bottom. He told me to put petroleum jelly around the seal. (It didn't work) Now the top of the fridge stopped cooling. So I had to throw food away!!! Another tech came out an figured the problem out? Talked to his supervisor and supose to replace it? I've been waiting on a call from a supervisor for almost 2 months now?? I wouldn't refer anyone to buy from Sears!!! Whenever I call customer service, I talk to someone in another country with very bad English..
ORIGINAL REVIEW: We purchased a new Kenmore refrigerator with french doors & freezer at the bottom. Three weeks later the ice maker stopped working?? Then frost started building up in the freezer.. Now it's not even cold !#! Sears sent out several technician at least 6 , the problems never was fixed?? I was told that their supervisor will contact us.. It has been 1yr. now. No contact.. I took time off work so the problem could fixed. Had to throw food away!!!

Redid my kitchen. Bought all kitchen appliances from Sears 8 years ago. The refrigerator stopped working. Called on a Saturday - they couldn’t come out until Tuesday. Compressor was shot. They had to order it. Delivered by Saturday. They couldn’t come out until Tuesday (see a trend here). Service guy (Vince) said to wait 72 hours 3 more days before I use it. This isn’t true per my conversations with other appliance repair companies. Then it started warming up by the following Friday. Called…sending someone on Tuesday (see that trend) between 8am-5 pm. They called me that Tuesday morning at 9:45am to reschedule. I asked why. Said the technician couldn’t make it. Scheduled it for the following Thursday. By this time I had had it. Couldn’t get ahold of a person to cancel it & to cancel the 1 year warranty I foolishly was talked into (Vince said all my appliances would be covered and I would only have to pay for $100 service fee & labor.
Looked over the contract which came in the mail - wasn’t so. You also have to pay for 50% of parts. Kept calling until I finally got someone who said in order to cancel my warranty I had to cancel my appointment on Thursday???? Tried to explain to her when the tech installed it he said there was a 90 day service/part’s warranty. She advised me there wasn’t. So….ended up canceling the appointment & 1year home protection warranty (we’ll have to see if that goes well). I can’t believe they’re legally still in business…. I called another appliance service and they’re coming out today!

This company I'd contracted thru my home buyers warranty 210 home buyers. The way they communicate to the thru email only is the start of the foolery. They came to my home, said my refrigerator needed one part, purchased it, had it sent to my home three times now and it's still not fixed. Not to mention the time frame they require you to be available for an appointment is 8am to 5pm. For them to either call and say they won't be at home until 2pm to 5. Then he showed up after five. While I was working out to leave without saying a word about what was wrong or needed to fix the problem. Never reported the diagnosis to the warranty company until I called back three times asking for them to return and fix it.
When I asked if he reported it he stated they were closed last time he was here. Which means no one followed up on our work order request because it obviously was not complete. And he tried to scam me for a second service fee of $100, after leaving the first time and it wasn't fixed. Poor communicate with customers and warranty company. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Oh and they kept sending (2 x's) a repair person who even though all my dogs are secured in crates per company policy wouldn't enter my house. As if he didn't realize my address when he received the order to come. Which in turn meant I had to reschedule the appointment. Again three time's a charm. The repair man called said he would be here and then called back to say he is now ordering another part that will be shipped to me and if I'm available two weeks from now. I started this work order 4/16/23. Still not complete. Horrible

They've been horrible. Sold me a lemon. Refused to replace it. Now have Frankensteined it with three separate part repairs. I had the fridge for under 6 months before it broke. It's been getting repaired for 4 months! They took two months and three escalations to just get the check issued for lost food. They offered no replacement fridge. I've had to buy a whole new fridge and they won't reimburse us at all. Stay away from Sears and do not waste your time and money on any of their home warranties. I'm 20 calls deep and still getting a run around.

Highly recommend DO NOT SHOP WITH SEARS. It used to be a trusted company. Not anymore. I've help my parents fight for a new refrigerator for almost a YEAR now. They bought a Frigidaire from Sears. First they had to wait 2 months for delivery that was delayed twice. Once they got the fridge, the freezer constantly iced up and the door wouldn't shut properly. After multiple "repairs" sent out, the last repair man Sears sent determined the freezer door was defective. For the next 4 months we fought to get a new door, when that apparently couldn't be done, Sears said they would replace the Frigidaire. For the next TWO MONTHS my parents were given the back and forth on getting a new fridge delivered.
After getting fed up and talking to customer service for what seemed like the 100th time, Sears said the fridge they had wasn't available! Shouldn't that have been known when they committed to replace the fridge??? So they agreed to a new model.... The delivery of this new model has been delayed over and over and over. We are now sitting at over 10 months of dealing with this. My parents have to use a hair dryer on the original fridge to keep it from icing so they can close the door and actually use it. Today, Sears changed the delivery date of the new fridge AGAIN!!! To the end of June!
At this point my parents are fighting for their money back and I'm picking up a new fridge for them from Lowe's. Will NEVER USE SEARS for anything again. Sad this company has come to this and will eventually be out of business with this kind of service and products. (And I haven't even touched on MY dishwasher that Sears took 4 months to fix correctly, only to fail again later on.) Sears service seriously stinks stupendously.

This is why Sears is failing. How can you sell a product when the parts are no longer being made. That’s poor customer support. Never ever buy anything from Sears. The model number is 111.72695911.

I've been a Sears customer for 30+ years. Have purchased most of my major appliances from them. The drop in Sears product and service is breathtaking. To illustrate:
1. Product: After a 26 year old Sears Kenmore refrigerator finally needed replacement, I purchased a Kenmore Elite model in 2018. After 4.5 years of service, the compressor needed to be replaced. I came to find out that the compressor is an LG part, which is notoriously unreliable. After reviewing my warranty, which states "Sears will replace, free of charge, within 5 years of purchase", I scheduled an appointment with Service Home Services.
2. Service: Per Sears, even though the warranty doesn't state labor is excluded, it is implied since the warranty specifies "defective material" as the cause. The Sears technician said the part would be covered under the warranty, but the labor cost would be $578.45. Not great, but I thought okay so let's proceed. Here's the catch: Sears told me it would take 7-10 days to get the part. Absurd! I called a local repairman and had the refrigerator serviced same day. I won't be doing anymore business with Sears after this debacle.

I purchased a refrigerator from Sears back in July of 2022. I discovered after a couple months that it was starting to build up ice inside the freezer section of the fridge. I did purchase a protection plan from Sears just in case I had any issues. It took them 2 months to get a technician out to look at it. He said it was a manufacturer defect and he ordered parts. He scheduled a repair appt for a month away. When that appointment date came the technician never showed up or called. It took several months to get another appointment with them and somehow the guy didn’t show up for that one either.
So now I’ve paid for a 2000 refrigerator that is broken and Sears for whatever reason won’t return to repair it so I’ve also wasted money on their protection plan. I am floored at how bad their customer service is. They have outsourced all of their customer service calls to their countries and these people are at home answering the phone with no supervisor available. No one so far has been able to help me. I guess my next route is suing the company.

It started off good with the 7 different repairmen. Finally, they determined it couldn't be fixed. They offered a replacement or $$$ (less than enough for replacement). I chose the replacement, they called with a replacement model number. I am 85 and don't use a computer, I verbally accepted it, trusting that they would give me one with correct dimensions. It was brought to our home and the delivery men came in and measured the space and they told me it wouldn't fit. Now Sears Warranty said there is a 35% restocking fee and the replacement value went down over $500.00. I have bought from Sears for years and bought the warranty on everything. Very dissatisfied!!! We are on a fixed income and now we have to pay $950.00 for a replacement plus the warranty $$ to get a new one, that fits. P. ** (Written by my daughter)

Have been dealing with a Sears Kenmore fridge that has not been keeping temp since August. Have had a gaggle of repairmen in and out about every two weeks for the last 4 months. Always, it seems something else must be ordered and repaired. They return, do the repair and the fridge works properly on average for about 3-4 days, then the temp starts slowly creeping up to 60-70 degrees. As this is a long term home for medicaid residents, having one of the refrigerators down is a problem.
Spoke to the warranty department on 12/6 and was told if the repairman puts in the work order unrepairable or uneconomical to repair, with what they have done in the last 4 months, they would replace the unit. Of course, repairman returned today, stated that's not how it works and proceeded to put an order in for more parts- one of which they already replaced during this four months of uselessness- I highly recommend you buy your appliances at another retailer.

If you are reading this review, there may still be time. DO NOT CALL SEARS. They will quickly siphon your soul and charge you for it. Then, they will gladly sell you a warranty on your soul so that in the event your soul is siphoned again, you only have to pay the copay. If you have a broken appliance, list it for free on Craigslist and walk away. I was charged $1200 to repair my refrigerator. They gladly took my $1200 and did not repair my refrigerator. It is nearly impossible to contact them and when I do they tell me they do not service my area and will not issue a refund. This company is a disgrace.

Bought this really nice looking Kenmore Elite (French door style with lower part freezer) December 2019 and everything seemed great UNTIL this unit had been running for ALMOST two years, this is when the fun began. One day it stopped cooling, everything in freezer and refrigerator had gone bad by the time we noticed; we travel a lot running a transportation business; so we were not home when it failed. We unplugged everything and began researching and found very unsettling information on the dear old internet about a (LG) Linear compressor from LG used in this Kenmore unit and it fails a lot.
We had an independent repair guy come out and verify the problem and evidently this is what happened to our unit, Linear compressor failure. Well, we unplugged and cleaned everything and decided to give it another go and all of a sudden it starts working again. We put in separate thermometers to keep a check on the temperature and it was working, unfortunately for us it only lasted a year. Now the linear compressor from LG is DONE.
We bought this refrigerator unit from Sears, and according to the process we had to have one of their "approved" technicians come out and verify the failure of this part which is still covered under warranty (10 years) and the cost to just get the verification was >$100,and we found out that the labor to get the part installed is not covered under the warranty and would cost about $600 (!). In other words it did not do us much good that the part was covered by a warranty. Sorry but we are not made of money, and we thought we had bought a good unit that would at least last us 10 years, and now here we are stuck with a unit we can't afford to have repaired. Extremely disappointed. Tough to be $$$$ limited. Never getting a Kenmore product again and I'll just stay away from Sears too.

Paid $177.95 for nothing. This was the cost for the diagnostic. I had a problem in my refrigerator freezer. The tech came to my home for 5 minutes and did the diagnostic test: Parts (Switch) $83, Labor $405.95, Total after taxes and all things $494.93. We have to change a switch, that's all. When I asked the tech why the labor is so high, he told me that it is the Sears list of prices. Can you believe 500 dollars to change a switch? They would be ashamed to charge $83 for a part that it is even cheaper at Amazon and 406 DOLLARS IN LABOR. I will never use Sears Home Services again, they just charge me for doing nothing.

I really am beginning to hate Sears customer service. My fridge is 4 years old. I bought the maintenance agreement because I got the fridge at a good price. I called for my yearly free check up. George showed up and did maintenance. He told me to call back in six months because he had a funny feeling about the compressor. The next day, fridge stopped cooling. I immediately called service and she told me Sept. 6th they would be out. I got an email and it said 6/13. I called again and said the girl told me Sept 6th. The email says Sept. 13th. They said that was first appt. I told her, "I wanted someone on the 6th like you promised." She said, "I will connect you to emergency services." A gentlemen said, “They will be there on the 6th.” I hung up. They have not shown up today. I called back service again and everything is automated. YOU CAN'T TALK TO A REAL PERSON. I ordered a refrigerator off of Sears's website. The product their product offered an optional ice-make with a box marked for installation. It even had a section to check that the icemaker would be installed upon delivery. Sears outsourced the delivery to Costco. The Costco delivery people had no idea about the icemaker installation and were not even willing to hook up the water line. They drove off with the refrigerator aggressively angry. Cosco's delivery representative Nikki made a call to Sears sales complaint department, Carl. Carl guaranteed that the situation would be resolved and everything would be installed upon delivery. When the Costco folks came a second time it was identical. They had no idea about the installation. Sears botched the delivery instructions, didn't communicate with their delivery men, and turned a simple appliance hook-up into an uncomfortable and aggressive mess. I will never shop Sears again.

It was their mistake as the first 2 repairmen were not approved through my warranty contract to work on my fridge. I've been extremely patient but the last straw was today, the tech never showed up (I took the day off for this) and when I called the technician's company they had the audacity to be rude to me stating they were just out here last week (that was my point exactly!). I called Sears 3 times (the 1st rep disconnected the call, the 2nd had me on hold literally over 22 mins and the 3rd helped somewhat). No offense to any culture but it's difficult to understand any of the sales reps and because of the language barrier what should normally take 5 mins will usually take 10 to 15 mins. I see why Sears is closing most of their stores as they are THE WORSE!!!!

I purchased a Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator five years ago from Sears. It has had two issues within that time frame. The ice maker will go on a hiatus from time to time. I am infuriated!! I purchase a kitchen appliance suite from Sears in 2017 brand new. Five years later, in 2022, my refrigerator just stop freezing! As a result, I lost all the food I had in the freezer. I took very good care of my refrigeration... There was no unusual wear and tear and it still looks new! I contacted Sears hoping there was some kind of defect in the product. I was told, "We do have some recall models but yours is not one (model:795.5188.412 serial:707MRGC1v335) and the only remedy for you is to schedule a repair with our expensive repair service."
Every refrigerator I have ever had lasted 20+ years. When I replaced my last refrigerator with the 2017 purchase, that refrigerator was 27 yrs. old and still running with no problem! Of course the only reason I replaced my old refrigerator is because I upgraded my appliances. This company has lost its reputation as far as product dependability! It has been official for some time now; however, I represent the next in line joining that list of disappointed consumers and will never buy from Sears again!... We purchased a freezer online from Sears in November 2021 and it finally delivered in March 2022. We had the appliance 2 full weeks before it malfunctioned and was deemed unrepairable. The "technician" they sent to assess the unit stated "customer damage" in the report to corporate as the freezer was delivered in working condition with no visible damage. However, when it malfunctioned and stopped working properly, the door and casing around the freezer unit warped causing it to stop sealing which kept the items from freezing inside.
It IS a manufacturer's defect which Sears and Kenmore are unwilling to honor in their warranty. I have had many back and forth conversations (9 calls in just 1 day) over a two-week period with their customer support trying to get a replacement or refund of my money, only to be told (after the third appointment cancellation by their technicians) that there is nothing they can do for me. On 9/27/21 we noticed it wasn't cooling and called LG, they said we had to call Sears, we did and Sears sent a repairman. It was the compressor and had to be replaced. Compressor was covered by warranty but labor we $640 and were told that the replacement is the same compressor with plastic pistons and will most likely have to be replaced again.
We just missed the class action lawsuit against LG by a few months and the extended warranty had expired. Needless to say, we are very dissatisfied with LG, we expected a $2500 refrigerator to last longer than 4 years. We purchased a stove from Sears which arrived "60 days" later, included in the price of the stove itself, we paid for in-home delivery and for the old unit to be taken away. You'd think with the amount of money spent an "in-home" delivery would include for the stove to be connect correct? Oh no, when the unit came we were then blindsided with a money-hungry company attempting to shovel $200 additional from the pockets of senior citizens to hook it up! Are you kidding me?
If this service was separate from the in home delivery why was it not displayed, or communicated in a follow-up email/phone call. When we called in to a service rep there was refusal for the call to be escalated to a manager however the rep communicated that a "manager" authorized a $150 credit be extended towards the hookup. It is evident that what was done is unethical and you have cowards not willing to address the situation and acknowledge their faults. For the amount of money spent from your company, does an additional $200 really accumulate to something worth the loss of a customer, and purchase? We requested a refund and immediate pickup.
Allow me to extend a recommendation to you Sears, from both a consumer and professional point of view, a "pickle" can go a long way. A pickle is a kind gesture that would not warrant a financial loss on either party, the pickle in this situation would have been to simply connect the stove for an elderly couple that has been waiting 60 days for a delivery from YOU. The experience is truly disgusting and disappointing, with the economy constantly inflating and majority of consumers on a fixed income, you may want to revisit the values of the company, the mindset, or you'll soon find your virtual stores close just as quick as your in-person shops.
