Pool purchased from Kayak Midwest fall of 2020. Installed 9-1-2021. Install was a disaster. It is now end of May 2021, Midwest has not scheduled repairs. Pool is unusable, needs a whole new liner, walls are bowed, pool is unsafe and unfinished and Midwest has been difficult to deal with. Do not buy from this branch. Very disappointing customer service and installation of a high quality product. The pool itself is not the issue, the management of this company is the problem.

I had a Kayak Pool installed the end of November. I had been waiting for the installation for 7 months, not the 30-45 days that was promised. The installation was equivalent to watching monkeys trying to hang onto the same limb of a tree in a wind storm! Nothing was done professionally. The "Pool School" that Kayak promised at the completion of the installation consisted of seeing 6 Mexicans jump into their crew cab pick-up truck, slam the doors, and speed away in the dark. I have been calling Kayak Pools, i.e., Presidents Tom Talty and Mike Klein, for the last 2 months. I cannot get anyone to respond to my installation issues and ongoing pool leaks. NEVER CONSIDER THIS COMPANY FOR A POOL!! If you have questions about the horrors of dealing with this company, and their poor quality, call me. Zan

Our Kayak pool was installed four months late and then after having it for two weeks the jet broke. We are now over a month out with service only excuses on why they are delayed fixing our pool. We are unable to use the pool, unable to run the water, which is turning green and unable to close the pool for winter. We have called and are told to send an email, the emails are returned with a new excuse as to why they can't come and fix pool and no one is able to provide an ETA. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Took all tools and called 2 days later to inform me he's not doing it because my yard is clay lol. Asked him to inform Kayak/Beauty Pools hoping they'd resolve it, he says that's my problem and hung up!!! Still no response from Company.

I filled out a form online because I am getting quotes for a pool installation. They returned my phone call and basically told me I couldn't have the appointment without my husband. Like I'm not capable of asking questions and getting a quote on my own. Even when I assured her that my husband would NOT have any questions she still insisted. It was sexist and insulting. I ended the call without setting up a consultation.

We didn’t even get past the “virtual” appointment we were supposed to have. First of all, it was scheduled to start at 8 pm, and we were given the caveat that they -could- call up to 30 minutes early if they finished their preceding appointment early. The first thing the woman says to me after I answer is “wow, you sound tired.” She then proceeds to give us a “rough estimate” of $35k without even asking about what features we want or anything. Then, can we put 20% down?? I said, “Well that’s obviously going to depend on the size of the pool we go with.” She then said “1-2 grand, is that a doable down payment?” I said, “yes, but that’s not 20% of the cost you gave me.”

I proceed to ask about traditional liner pools and fiberglass, to which I get the response that their pools are much superior to those. (Obviously based on all the glowing reviews). THEN, I begin asking her questions, which is the point of this entire call, and she says “Ok calm down!” Then, she asks if we will be handling our own backfilling. I said “No, that’s why I’m calling you. If that were the case we would put in our own damn pool.”

In no way was this “salesperson” even remotely friendly OR helpful. Nor was the the slightest bit professional. She would have rather been doing something else and that’s fine, but don’t insult my intelligence by telling me you’re selling a superior project. This is obviously not that, based on the other reviews I have seen. Unfortunately for Kayak, they will never get past that initial phone call with me.

Ordered a pool. Was told it could be fully sunk. Wrong. The given a different pool option wrong. Now a supposed tree fell on it. Next. New pool to be installed as led lady Friday. Nope. Still waiting. Every time we call we get Ceilia. Completely worthless. Has to go thru her manager for everything and manager refused to ever call us or get on the phone. Now we’re waiting on installers to let us know a date. Meanwhile sand and pool parts have been killing our grass for over a week. If not for permits for this pool I would have cancelled this whole deal. Very shady people from sales to service. They have two more days then we will cancel this disaster. 17000 for nothing but aggravation.

This is a shady business. The customer service was top notch until I made my deposit on the pool. I was lied to by the Salesperson. I asked if there were any delays due to COVID (which was a deciding factor in our decision for this summer) and was told “NO, we are pumping them out pretty good!” I was then lied to by the installation department and told that the pool would be in and installed within our 21-28 day timeframe. Prior to this everything said “above ground is typically 21-28 days.” This was AFTER I asked again if there were any delays due to COVID.

I called on a weekly basis for an update (because until last week they never checked in like they said they would). Day 21 was Monday of this week and I have yet to be told when my pool will be delivered, much less installed. I am now at day 24. Next steps are they call me to schedule the delivery day (who knows how long that takes) then within 72 hours I get a call for the actual install date to be scheduled. Given next Wed is day 28, clearly this isn’t going to happen. I explicitly asked again last week if we were delayed and again was told no. Not until AFTER I pointed out that Monday would be day 21 and we don’t even have a delivery date yet, it is looking like to me that we might be delayed.... The install coordinator then acts surprised and says, "Well yes I suppose you might be delayed....maybe a week or 2" (remember every other call was “you are still in schedule to be within your timeframe.”).

I then called the QA department to explain to see if they could help and was adamantly told that they told me I would be delayed due to COVID at the time of my initial install call - This NEVER happened (otherwise I wouldn’t be so upset or confused this whole time of the lack of updates). She said she would listen to the calls and call me right back. That was now 2 days ago and no callback. Feeling lied to and reconsidering this entire purchase and may go elsewhere.

I cannot speak to the product as we have decided 100% against this type of pool due to our experience with Jay, the sales rep. We were told to set aside 60-90 minutes for a virtual meeting to discuss an inground pool. He was very short, failed to answer our questions and it was obvious that the timing was bad for him and he wanted it to be over. He cut us off during our questions and kept saying "I'm offering you the best price" but would not give us a straight answer on what was included down to every detail (which I would expect on a 30-50K purchase). Our entire meeting was 30 minutes; we were told we had to make a decision by June 7 if we wanted guaranteed install this year.

When we booked our appointment it was under the impression we could be a demo home; but we were told 4 days later that they did not need anymore and that we had to make a quick decision if we even wanted one. He was not friendly AT ALL. He kept flipping super quick through a power point on our computer screen but we were told we could not actually see the whole thing because "other companies would pay us thousands for that information on the power point". It was an all around terrible experience. I wish I could have given 0 stars.

It is so frustrating. The video tells you that the chlorine frog should last some time but that is now empty. I think you can only buy it from them. The pool has only been up a short time, since May 2019. All these things can't go wrong in such a short time.

Like many others our water walls corroded and rotted away. Our pool was purchased in 1999. Started noticing bumps under the liner spreading across the walls. Decided to replace liner and see what was going on. All 16 water walls were corroded and needed replaced. Called Kayak to check on warranty of the limited lifetime water walls, knowing I would be prorated. They "sell" a water wall kit of 16 walls for $1599.99, but to use the warranty I would have to pay OVER $2000 (80% of $2559.99) for the SAME 16 walls. They keep their "retail" price inflated so the warranty is WORTHLESS. They did offer $150 in customer cash, I do not plan on giving Kayak any more of my money. Very disappointed!

I bought the house from my sister. Pool was 7 years old and had to replace LINER. WALLS & LINER replaced in the 90's. Lionel owner. French guy from Quebec did the installation and he told us to get beach type stones and place around the pool as it would help the walls. Hard labour for my husband. Found a cigarette hole after filling the pool and was sent a patch which we fixed. Not too sure if it was the first or second time we were advised to get weeping tile to help with the rainwater.

WALLS & LINER replaced 2005. Willy owner. The guy that put in those walls told us to take the stones away that it was damaging the walls. Hard labour for my husband and I. LINER only last one season. LINER replaced free from manufacturer because of ripped seam but we had to pay another company to put it on so it wasn't exactly free. They did a terrible job.

DECK WALLS & RAILINGS 2015 replaced but corner wasn't fixed and sharp end still waiting to have that fixed. WALLS replaced 2016. I asked Mike (the installer) if we needed to get more sand and he said NO. What a mistake as a year later we had to have someone come out and fix a hole in the bottom of liner (might have been there from installation) and paid $333.35. Mike told us that he could fix the gap between pool and wooden deck and it wouldn't cost much. When he finally showed up when pool was winterized it went from $300 to $2500.

Pool shifts with earth, nature. We have a big gap. Any advice? I'm wondering if we could put some type of protected thin sheet of wood starting from the pool to the house that can be removed at the end of each season. Just to protect us from the gap which gets larger every year but inexpensive. I'm sure we have had about 5 or 6 liners by now. So it hasn't been cheap. My sister thought it a great pool because there was no deep end therefore safer for her 3 & 5 year old. Her plan was to eventually put an in-ground pool in when kids got older but she decided to move instead. The positive thing is that it only takes up 1/2 the backyard and had plenty of space on the other side for a swing set and play area. I love the pool but we have spent a lot of money on repairs. Not sure if I would recommend it over an in-ground pool.

Purchased Kayak 16x32 4 feet deep pool in 2005. 2018, 13 years later, the liner was leaking. When we took liner down we noticed all water walls were severely corroded. This must have started years before as we would feel what we would think was sand in between liner and wall, which turned out to be corrosion. Kayak offered discount, but we requested free of charge water walls, because this is some manufacture defect. Got a better discount, but no free replacement. Filed a complaint with the BBB.

That got them shaking. Was offered big discount on walls, with some crazy story about how the walls were corroded because of some electric currency. Lol. Anyway, we refused. We have put some wrapped wood panels up, reaching to halfway the walls, put in the new (exuberantly priced) liner that we got with a great discount and filled the pool. Because we refused to purchase their walls with a big discount and they needed to get that BBB claim gone they offered to reimburse us for the liner. We accepted. Sad it had to take a complaint with BBB.

I have been a Kayak Pool owner for 29 years and for the most part very satisfied with the quality of the pool. The problem is the worthless warranty and poor customer service. I live in New Jersey and can't find anyone willing to repair my pool, no one will even come out to look at it. After 5 years the 15 year warranty liner ripped and they would not cover it. My warranty was with Kayak Pools that went bankrupt but turned around under the new Kayak company and were not responsible.

Then about 12 years ago my wood walls were cracking and buckling and I could get anyone from Kayak to repair it. I finally got a local pool liner company to do the work at a cost of over $6,000.00. OUCH! Last year the top channel on a 32' wall was starting to crack and no one would fix it. I called one company in Middletown NY that was an authorized Kayak dealer and said they repair Kayak pools. When I told them the top channel was cracking he asked if it was the 12' or 24 ' wall I told him it was a 32' wall and he said OH **! and never showed up or answered my messages after that.

Now the top channel broke at 2 corners of the 32' wall and that wall collapsed. I lost 1 wall panel, some decking, fiberglass panels, the top channel, liner, coping, and j channel. No one shows up when they say they can fix it now no return calls. Kayak company itself is useless. I've tried 5 authorized Kayak dealers/ installers/ repair technicians and no one has shown up or followed through. One company Leisure King, called me every other day trying to sell me a new pool for $21,000 when they said they repair pools on their website. After 3 weeks of NO I'M NOT SPENDING $21,000.00 on another Kayak pool did she agree to send an installer to give an estimate for a repair. Guess what NO SHOW and no more calls.

The pool itself at the time was well made however for about $8,000.00 more in 1988 I could have bought an Anthony Sylvan gunite pool that would last forever. Now I've spent more than that gunite pool would have cost and looking at another large expense if I can find someone that will fix it. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Kayak pools, No Service, don't honor warranties, can't get other pool companies to work on them and they are over priced, for a few thousand more you can put in an inground pool. How would you like to wake up to this picture in your backyard on a hot June morning?

I've been putting this review/rant off in hopes the company would take some corrective actions. However after a month of no response, I feel this review is justified. From the salesman that showed up to introduce the product to the scheduling of the installation to the actual installation and even to the owner of this establishment, we have been less than satisfied with the customer service received.

The main issue is that the pool was sold to us with the understanding that it would be placed directly next to our existing deck. However the installers had advised that was impossible which then resulted in an additional expense to build our deck out to the pool to meet it. As well, the installers had left our entire yard and not just the area around the pool, a disaster zone that required additional landscaping costs to regrade and seed more than half of our backyard.

When we attempted to contact Kayak Pools Midwest to correct some of these issues or share some of these unnecessary and unexpected costs with us, they decided to give us the "you had major construction in your backyard and these damages are to be expected" argument. But my expectation with major construction would be that there would be architectural plans drawn up to illustrate the placement and orientation of the pool for review and approval to ensure it is installed as originally expected. Since THAT did not happen, how can this be considered MAJOR construction???

All of the contractors and Bobcat operators that I have spoken with all agree that the damage done to my yard was unnecessary and avoidable with proper precautions. We attempted to move this complaint up the ladder to the owner, Mike Klein, however he has refused to return an answer to any of our calls! The product may bring our family enjoyment but I definitely would've found another place to buy the pool from with all the headache we have had to deal with. It's a shame when a company who may have a great product does not have the service and attention to back it up!!!

We purchased our 16x32 Kayak Pool in 2003. We have had it for 12 years and have loved every minute of it. In 2011 we had to replace the liner and contacted Kayak. They prorated the new liner and we got it for half off which brought it down to about $800 and change. I know that seems like a lot but overall the pool has been amazing. Our next door neighbor has an oval pool that they got much cheaper than our pool but they are constantly adding chemicals and vacuuming the pool and back-washing the pump etc. They always have trouble with the chemical levels and their pool is always dirty.

We literally remove the cover at the beginning of the season, add a few chemicals, check the chemical levels and put a floater in the pool with the chlorine tablets. Done! It is crystal clear within 24 hours and all we have to do is shock it a couple of times during the summer and keep the tablets in the floater. They are advertised as the "lazy man pool" and it is true. We are currently moving out of state and have to get rid of the pool since we can't take it with us. We are definitely going to miss it until we can get another one at our new home!

The whole time they keep asking for the full price of pool. We weren't paying after reading all the reviews on kayak pool. Finely October 6 said installer said he would be here at 8am to start, showed up at 4:45 pm. Said he would be back next day by 8, showed up again late - 10:45 am. The installer dug the hole and put the pool together, told him at that time it wasn't deep enough. He asked for a check, told him we wanted a represent to come see it before paying.

Also called Tarie, we wanted someone to come check it and wasn't paying - till then after she found out we haven't paid, she hung up and called John, the installer. Told him to pack up and leave, he did not. He keep putting it together, we told him we needed someone out here, no one ever came or even called. Then they done the back fill that we were going to do but they knew they were in the wrong but he did not back fill the way it should of been done. We ended up telling him not to show up, he wasn't doing anything but destroying more of our yard than need.

I will not replace them and I WILL NEVER RECOMMENDED a Kayak pool to anyone ever. It was expensive and they have no loyalties to their customers... NEVER EVER AGAIN...

I purchased a Kayak pool in April 2006. I have had nothing but little problems with the pool till this year. We finally purchased an underwater camera and took pics of our liner that is tearing in the seam. They were quick to respond that it was a manufacture defect in the liner but we had to pay 65% of the retail cost of a new liner. We have to pay freight and have to pay to have it installed. What is a warranty; why do you say it has a 30 year warranty when it doesn't?!?! How you rate an A+ on BBB is beyond me. You have a poor company that does not stand behind your product!! I will definitely be contacting the BBB on my complaint because this company should definitely have an F rating!! Please everyone that has problems address it to the BBB!!
