About Solo

Solo, formerly known as SoloSuit, is a U.S.-based legal and technology platform that helps consumers facing debt collection lawsuits create court-filing documents and negotiate debt settlements. It offers software that generates answer documents and other court-response documents, provides automated settlement negotiation tools and offers access to attorney reviews when needed. Solo is available in all 50 states.

Pros
  • Fast document generation
  • Automated negotiation tools, like emails and offers
  • Self-help platform for handling debt
  • Nationwide coverage
  • Clear pricing tiers
  • Attorney option review available
Cons
  • Legal responsibility lies with the user
  • Filing deadlines still apply
  • Debt resolution outcome not guaranteed
  • Settlement may still impact credit

Solo services

Solo provides two digital tools to help consumers with unsecured debt: SoloSuit, which helps with your response to a court summons, and SoloSettle, which helps you negotiate a settlement. Because Solo is not a law firm, users are responsible for the legal outcomes of any documents or negotiations completed through the platform.

SoloSuit

SoloSuit helps users respond to debt collection lawsuits. You complete an online questionnaire, answering based on your summons and complaint, and then Solo creates the answer document for you.

SoloSuit also calculates filing fees and files the answer document with the court. The Premium package includes an attorney review before filing, while the Standard package prepares and files the document without additional review.

SoloSettle

SoloSettle equips users with tools to negotiate a debt settlement on their own behalf. You’ll enter details about your debt, make an offer through the platform and use SoloSettle’s communication system to negotiate with the collector without direct phone calls or emails.

If a settlement is reached, SoloSettle helps arrange payment, and a fee applies only after the agreement is accepted. Settlement isn’t guaranteed, and because Solo is not an attorney, users remain responsible for the legal results of any agreements or negotiations completed through the tool.

Solo requirements

To be eligible for SoloSuit services, you must have received a summons and complaint. SoloSettle requires users to have a debt of at least $2,000.

Solo only works with unsecured debts, which means certain debts are ineligible, including:

  • Auto loans
  • Medical debt
  • Mortgages
  • Student loans

Solo costs

Solo offers two fixed-price packages for generating and filing an answer to a debt collection lawsuit. The Standard package costs $67, and the Premium package costs $247 and includes attorney review with a faster filing timeline.

The SoloSettle tool charges up to 19% of the original debt amount, but only if a settlement is reached.

Solo FAQ

What is Solo?

Solo is a web-based platform that helps users generate legal responses to debt collection lawsuits and negotiate settlements. It’s not a law firm or a substitute for attorney representation.

How does Solo work?

To get an answer document, users fill out an online survey referencing their summons and complaint. Solo generates the answer document, and then you can choose to do standard filing or get an attorney review through the Premium package.

For debt settlement, the SoloSettle tool facilitates offers and negotiations. Once accepted, you pay the agreed amount, and Solo charges up to 19% of the total amount as a fee.

Where is Solo available?

Solo’s services are available in all 50 U.S. states.

Is Solo legit?

Yes, Solo legitimately operates as a self-service legal-tech platform. It discloses that it’s not a law firm and is transparent about the scope of its service. However, Solo doesn’t guarantee case outcomes, and users should weigh the risks of using a self-help platform instead of getting legal representation.

Is Solo worth it?

Yes, Solo can be worth it for individuals who have been served a debt collection lawsuit and want a cost-effective, tech-driven way to file a legal answer quickly. Most states require you to respond to a lawsuit within 14 to 30 days of receiving the complaint; not responding can lead to a default judgment. Solo provides fast, affordable self-service that can help you meet that deadline.

Solo’s debt settlement tool may appeal to those with delinquent unsecured debt who wish to negotiate a reduced payoff. The company charges 19% of the total amount, which can feel steep, but that fee is right in line with most debt settlement companies, which charge an average of 15% to 25%.

However, for those who need full legal representation, complex litigation support or can’t afford to settle, Solo may not be the best fit. Particularly, users should be aware that filing an answer document from the tool doesn’t automatically dismiss a lawsuit — further legal steps may be required.

I found Solo online. I like that it reads easier than other companies that offer the same service. It also seems friendlier. The enrollment process was also very easy. I spoke to a representative, and the experience was outstanding. I appreciate their efforts on my behalf. And it was quite affordable, too.

They got everything sent that needed to be sent. It's not finished, but everything they had to do is done. I liked that they go over everything with you and you know where you stand, and everything worked well. I'm gonna use Solo again.

I received a summons. I did some research, and Solo was the top-rated to use for independent representation. It was easy to put my information in to draft the documents, and the service is exceptional for someone who is new at navigating this type of space.

We searched a lot of companies, and we found that Solo was the best and had a lot of great reviews. The process was easy and fast, and we didn't speak with anyone. They have a lot of resources available to find the answer for my need. When I found it, we submitted my answer through Solo, and all was good. They have great services for debt-related problems and, although I didn’t use this service, they also have attorneys but for a higher cost. It’s good that Solo is offering all of these for the consumers.

The time when I had my divorce, I forgot things and so I ended up owing a debt and had to answer a debt collector. My friend has been using Solo and recommended it to me. I also saw lots of good reviews. Solo helped me a lot. Everything was easy, and I have paid off what I owed.

I will recommend Solo's service. I reached out with a question to help me fix something, and they reached back out to me quickly. They will get to the point and they will get the stuff done.
