I have had this terrible situation happen to me three times since the regions/am south merge! It had never happened before! I have been a regions customer for about 10 years or more. I have had three different occasions where regions has taken several of my debit transactions and held them until a transaction came through that would put me in the negative. At that point...I was charged $210.00 in overdraft fees for all of the debits when there was enough money in my account to cover all of them except the last one. I have had this happen to me three different times.

Each time I contacted regions to find out why they were holding my debits. They said they are not. They said debits are processed in real time. If that was the case...Then the first five transactions would have been covered. Then I was told that the merchants do not process the debits. That is untrue. I contacted one of the merchants that I had done one of the debits with. How can it be possible to have $468.00 in your account. You use your card five times using $400.00, then you make a mistake and use your card again for a $70.00 purchase...yet instead of being charged one overdraft fee...you're charged six overdraft fees.

They are holding debits until your available balance is overdrawn and then say that your available balance was not enough to pay any of the debits. Then on top of that...The transactions were done over the weekend...so I made a deposit over the weekend. My deposit should have been processed first, but wasn't. This whole situation should have not happend. They are just robbing their customers.

The consequence of this for me is just that my bank that I've done business with for years has taken money from me that I didn't have. They have lost my respect completely and I fully intend to close my account. I also would not reccommend them to anyone else...ever!

Hey guys I am a former employee of Regions bank. When I filled out my application and went on the interview it seemed like a very good company and there were many opportunities. Well everyything isn't as it seems, it is true about the overdraft limit and Regions do not like to refund fees and most of the time the associates cannot waive fees, you have to speak with a supervison who probably is not going to be around if you were to ask to speak to one. I worked in the call center/ cooperate office. There were so many things that I've seen and I am a positive person which means I surround myself arround positive things.

Regions is losing so many customers per day. Regions Cooperate office are filled with racist individuals and hate to see some acheive and accomplish a goal that doesn't have anything to do with the company. I had a young supervisor and a young manager that didn't care about anything and when a company has those type of people working for them there is a need for the customers to be concerned. When I was hired I was told that I would be able to go back to school with no problem.

When it came it for the semester to start they would not adjust my schedule and told me that school isn't for everyone. The time that I was employed there I developed this sharp pain in my stomach and in my back, I was back and forth to the hospital and used up all my sick time in a period of 3 months. My doctor then came to the conclusion that whatever or whoever was causing so much stress I needed to let go. I went into a meeting with the manager of the call center and she tells me that my sick time is inconsistant.

I then told her that if she wanted to speak on inconsistancy lets talk about how I would get wrote up when I car pool with my neighbor for being late but my neighbor never was written up. She then changed the subject and said that if I wantted to go to school they would do whatever it takes so that they may accomendate me. This has been the worse experience I have ever experienced and will not encourage any one to even open an account there. I believe in loyality and regions is not loyal to their customers or employees. That place was a total disaster so one day I just up and quit.

in june i made my car pmt to citi bank. My payment was rdcieved on 7/1/08. Well I went about my merry way then on 7/23/08 I check my balance and it looked to me my direct deposit went through, so i paid more billis. When i checked my balance on 7/25/2008 I was 57.00 in the hole. When i called the bank, I found out they had not posted my car pmt till around 7/23/08, so what i thought was a reflection of my deposit was not, I took them 23 days to post my pmt to my account.

So on midnight on the twenty third they posted that pmt. along with my other debits so when My direct deposit went through on thusday they took 355.00 in nsf fees. When I went to the bank Ms Gammon could tell me why they waited to not post the pmt for 23 days, and why thy hustled other debits so quick. She said I should get my nsf fees back in fact she posted 70.00 back to my account then, However she admitted they should not have done that and said she was sorry, But some lady named melissa would refund the rest said it was my problem.

355.00 in un just nsf fees, I am a diabetic and cant buy meds until next pay check, so now my blood suar is out of control until then

Regions Bank is using what they claim is a consumer feature called a 'Overdraft Limit' that pays incoming charges no matter your account balance. It will pay up to $500 in charges after your account is overdrawn. Regions is charging consumers anywhere from $33 to $35 for each paid item under the 'Overdraft Limit' feature.

This feature should not be confused with Overdraft Protection. Overdraft Protection is a feature that links accounts for overdraft coverage. Service Reps make this confusing by trying to tell you there is no 'Overdraft Protection' feature on your account, but not tell you of the 'Overdraft Limit' feature. You can have the 'Overdraft Limit' feature removed from your account, but the customer service rep at the 800 number will tell you that it can take 3 to 10 days to remove. This is untrue. Your local branch can remove it immediately. Regions is purposely hiding this fact.

Additionally REGIONS BANK WILL RE-APPLY THIS FEATURE TO YOUR ACCOUNT AFTER 30 DAYS WITHOUT NOTICE IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN GOOD STANDING AND NOT OVERDRAWN! We believe this is a strategic attempt to gain fees from you in the future. We also believe that this action may be construed as fraudulent if a complaint were to be made at the County level (lawsuit).

We were told 'off the record' by certain Regions employees that this is a fee strategy handed down from the upper level leaders of the bank. Furthermore, certain employees have given us private email addresses to let them know how our complaint with the state turns out as they are also frustrated with consumer complaints. Regions Bank has crossed the line between ethics and greed.

    Regions refuses to settle.

I called this bank with a fraud report of an unauthorized debit purchase that I found on my account over the weekend. When I tried to tell them that there was an unauthorized debit on my account, they told me they couldn't do anything, won't refund my money, and will not reverse the overdraft charge this caused. She hung up on me. I'm not happy with their treatment! Never hang up on anyone!! What happened to the customer is always right? It went to school with bad manners I guess.

I opened a checking account and Orrin sent my book of checks to my old address. He stated that he had to change my account to keep anyone from using my checks. My payroll auto-deposit went back to VA instead of being deposited into the bank account set up by Orrin. My bills were mailed to come out on or after the date of my payroll deposit. They all bounced with late fees, return fees, and my checks wouldn't be accepted by my creditors. (The reason for getting the account was to pay bills easier than going to get money orders all the time).

While the bank slowly responded by removing their NSF charges against me for their mistake, they were very slow to refund any fees that I incurred. Furthermore, they didn't honor the checks written and I have had to borrow against my paycheck using payday loan services that have cost me $60/every 2 weeks since 03/28/08 until now, as well as, moneygram fees to creditors who would not wait on the bank to figure out if they'd refund me or not. My payments were to my dentist, who I don't go to see anymore since the check wasn't honored by Regions, to my car loan holder, who allows no time for late payments, but would repossess my car given the chance, and to my rent managers, who showed no mercy and will not accept any checks from me.

I've suffered stress, loss of time going to the bank, gas fees from running around for loan offices, money orders/moneygrams, and the great loss of money just to keep my debts current from the initial mistake of Regions Bank who sent my check back to my employer. The amount of $70 was the only reimbursement stated that would be given for NSF check fees assessed by my creditors were refunded. This amount is rediculously low compared to the $60/every 2 weeks that I've lost while attempting to help myself recover from the banks mistake in not allowing my payroll check to go through so my checks would clear by 12N on 03/28/08 or 03/29/08.

$488.60 plus gas expenses, time, and stress as of 07/04/08 have been lost besides the $70 dollars the bank states they repaid me in my account.

This bank possibly has the worst customer service I've ever experienced anywhere. They "absorbed" the bank I was doing business with (this is a business checking account)they also wound up buying two mortgages and two loans that I had with other banks. (I am getting ready to cough up the money to refinance my mortgages to get away, if that tells you anything) I do business with multiple banks and none of them have the problmes that this bank does. First, they were applying all of the monthly payments to one of my mortgages to "principle". I regularly pay extra on the principle, but they failed to post against the regular amount due.

So in three months I get a foreclosure notice from their attorney. I mailed the attorney my canceled checks and said, see you in court. I sent certified letters to every member of the board, to the general counsel, and to their CPA firm. I get not any response at all. The only way I ever finally resolved it was that a friend knew personally a branch manager in another city - I had to drive there, take all my records and then write them a check for the whole amount they showed due (to prove that I wasn't destitute and trying to rip them off) and he actually went to the trouble to find out that they had in fact made a mistake.

It took 3 more months to correct that and all the credit reporting and I had to mail my payments to him directly to post. No one even so much as said "sorry." When I pay my stuff now, which I do in person to make sure they don't screw it up, I get all kinds of stupid responses from tellers who do not know how to post a mortgage plus principle payment. Now I close the business account. The next day they transfer money back out of a money market account (yes, I'm fixing to move that too) and reopen the closed account so they can debit it for $60 worth of analysis fees for an account that has been unused for 30 days so they aren't entitled to the fees anyway. They transfer $100, so now there is a $50 balance they will I am sure, try to get analysis fees on next time. They claim that the analysis fees were charged on the 12th before I closed the account, which is of course impossible because I closed the account on the 12th. They say that the closure didn't happen until the 13th, of course my paperwork says it happened on the 12th and those fees were not on the account when it was closed. They tried to say I closed the account after 2 pm, but the time stamp clearly reads 1:37 p.m. Best of all, they try to pretend that they did what they were supposed to do, use overdraft protection to transfer money into a closed account to collect bank fees that were not supposed to be collected.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK! There are a million places that you can get free checking and any service you want and they don't cheat, screw up or if they do, they apologize and treat you like they want your business. In more than 30 years of business I have never been more outraged by the business practices of any establishment than I have with this bank.

Regions Bank has decided to place 3 day holds on ALL deposits including Social Security and Stimulius Checks resulting in me losing out on around $2000! My husbands SS Disabilty check goes to my business account and they ate it up in NSF fees. Today I got a NSF notice from a check they bounced 10 days ago stating my balance was 754.oo and a non check debit was presented for $20 and it was paid however I was charged $36 for doing so.AGo figure.

they have NEVER done this before an dI deposit money almost daily like I said it is a business account. They also sent me a notice saying they paid a check and charged me $36 and it was returned. In the short they beat me out of $2000 I have no money to pay for my sick husband's medication as he only has Medicare part A and I don't know what to do! They gave no written notification that they were changing this policy and they need to be stopped. I took what money i had left and went to a new bank that doesn't do that. Someone needs to regulate these banks as they are robbing us poorer people blind!

I had a positive balance in my account. No worries. I went to the grocery store, again no problem I had the money. I got home that night and totalled up what I'd spent. When all my monthly transaction would go through I was going to come up short so I went online and made a transfer from one account to the next. Apparently Regions has a policy I was unaware of. Supposedly if you transfer money online it shows immediately. Well with the debit card transactions I had they placed a hold on my account and took the money out of my account in theory but not on paper so I was showing a positive balance plus my deposit and went on about my business.

Two days later I'm depositing more money so I could write a check for my kids' daycare and the teller told me I was overdrawn by $253. I almost had heart failure. On my statement and the teller themselves couldn't explain it since I always showed a positive balance. They said it must be that I used my debit card and they held funds out and deducted the actual transactions after that. I have been depositing $400 a day trying to get ahead of this mess as we were in the middle of moving and I'd originally deposited about $4000 to cover my moving expenses. So far this week I've deposited $1200 had $600 in transactions but I've had to pay $610 in NSF charges and I'm still overdrawn and more checks are going to be coming through. This is a staggering amount and I don't know what I'm going to do.

I yelled at a women in Regions the other day that this is like paying for each transaction four times. She said no I only paid for my transactions once but all my NSF I owed them once so its fair. Is it fair to have a positive balance never get overdrawn and see out of nowhere $610 of NSF fees pop up and cause your account to be overdrawn. I never got overdrawn the NSF fees are what caused the account to be overdrawn.

I've never in my life had as much trouble as I've had with a bank as I've had with Regions. I do work in finance and the banking industry and I used to work for a bank that was bought out by Regions. I have to work with many different accounts and banks and Regions is the only one I've ever seen this type of stuff with and I've seen this same thing with three different customers and now it has happened to me. When I saw it with other people I kept thinking it must be some glitch on their part. Not so.

Um, well I have a special needs child and I had to forgo his medication this week. I haven't been able to grocery shop since last week. Tempers are at boiling points in my home. I couldn't even give my child lunch money this morning and found a pack of peanuts for him to eat in the cupboard. We moved Sunday so I have no food in the house. We are all in a panic. We basically can't live until this is fixed and Regions refuses to even meet me halfway. They allowed me a refund of $70 of the $610 they took.

I will preface this complaint by saying, I am probably one of, if not THE worst manager of money you'll ever meet. But I know when a business practice is not fair to the consumer / customer.

About a month ago I began a new job. My new employer had to go through the standard procedure of setting up direct deposit. Therefore, the first check was a "live" check and was a couple days later in the mail than I anticipated. I had gone almost a month without a paycheck and my account was in the negative. It was on a Friday. I was supposed to be in Kansas City, MO on the following Monday for a business meeting. I was going to have to use my debit card for hotel and trip expenses.

When I went to deposit the check, I asked a couple questions about the availability of the funds, etc. Because my account had been over-drawn for more than 20 days a "No Post" had been placed on my account, which meant, it would be 5 days before I would have access to the funds. So I took the check back and went and paid 5% of the amount of the check to have it cashed, so I could go back and deposit cash into the account. Well, I was informed that it didn't matter if I deposited cash or check, I STILL wouldn't have access to the funds until the next Wednesday. I was screwed. I kept all the cash and managed to get through the trip to KC.

THEN, two weeks later, my employer unfortunately hadn't got the direct deposit right yet, I get another "live" check. I deposited it this time, funds were available the next business day, all was good. I used my debit card over the weekend, several times, 12 to be exact, gas, food, electric bill. I watched 12 transactions post to my account through the following Monday and deduct against my available balance. On Tuesday night, my house note posted, I was short about $100.00 to cover the house note. But THE BANK decided that it was in my best interest if they PAID the house note. Well, that's good. I have other banks cover a check before, but I've never had a bank cover the BIGGER check and then consider the other 12 transactions as secondary, and charge NSF Fees for those 12. Other banks charged me for the ONE check that posted when there wasn't enough money in the account, but I've never had a bank prioritize transactions in that manner, because it's what THEY think is best for the customer. 12 NSF Fees was $420.00. $420.00 ya'll. And a couple days later some debit activitiy for $6.00 cleared and they dinged me another NSF which put me in the negative about $500.00.

Well, as luck would have it, it's been almost four weeks since that all happened. This paycheck, direct deposit worked. Funds were electronically transferred into my account from my employer's account last night. I can see the money, it's there. But I can't touch it . . . FOR FIVE DAYS! I can't even get out enough money for gas, because the account was overdrawn for more than 20 days, BECAUSE REGIONS BANK MADE A FINANCIAL DECISION ON MY BEHALF, "IN MY BEST INTEREST" AND DINGED ME WITH 12 NSF FEES $420.00. I wouldn't have been overdrawn for 20 or more days, if they hadn't made that decision for me. But, they had my best interest in mind when they did it so I should be grateful? I don't think so.

Because I have had several NSF Fees on my account over the years, they won't budge on giving me the money back. One branch manager pulled out a check ledger and started explaining how to balance a check book . . . I had to just walk away . . .

No other bank that I know of does this. Even the Customer Service girl that I spoke with told me that she has worked for other banks and to her knowlege Regions is the only one that "Prioritizes" transaction, in the best interest of the customer . . . from their perspective!

That sums up what the manager of my Regions did for me. $500 a month in overdraft charges over this three month period. It seems there is a "posting" and a "cleared" colum, only the don't tell you which one you are looking at. Most transactions were less than $5, and the profit to about $35 service charge on Each transaction. But here is a twist. They switch and stack the deck of charges at will. I have seen the dates and transactions chang in order and date. Regions is not for us.

I was also told that when the $30 check posts that night, I will receive another INS fee. That makes a total of $93 for one pending transaction. It's not right to charge an ISF for a transaction that has already been deducted from your balance especially when deducting it caused 2 additional INF charges.

This particular instance resulted in $93 INF charges when the account balance was positive. I have talked with several people that have had the same issue. Some have been charged more than $300 for overdrafts of less than $15.

As usual they did not do as I ask, they applied to the 2.99 rate instead. I called, the girl was rude, she said this was disclosed to me on the phone, which it was not. She said it is in the paperwork they sent, probably in their FINE PRINT. I told her I will make a formal complaint, and close the account.

I WILL PAY MORE MONEY TO THEM DUE TO HIGH INTEREST RATE.
