Preapproved for a $10000 loan. Go through the process and while completing the bank questions my account was suspended. On the phone for 2 hours trying to find out the reason. Every person I talked with told us an email was sent, which we didn't receive. We were switched from one department to another, from one boss to another (this place has more people in charge than the government) and they all just read from the same script. I didn't even finish filling out the application and got suspended, but they made sure to run my credit score. They said that it looked like there was further documentation needed (maybe like the documentation I was in the process of providing?). What a joke. Then after talking to last big kahuna and hanging up in disgust, we get an email stating that they have successfully connected to our bank account (Why!!!). Now I get to worry about them having my account number. Great.

Another update. We finally received our email stating that the account was suspended because they didn't have all of the documentation. (The same thing we heard ten times already). I can not state this strongly enough. Run. Don't walk. Run. I can't believe a company like this is in business. Another update. I can reapply in 90 days. I would laugh, but I'm too disgusted.

I had a loan with them establishing good credit with them. Paid off in full, in good standing. I kept getting cards in the mail to take out a new loan. Since my previous loan my income went up substantially with no lates on my credit report. I applied for a new loan, was denied, then re routed to AMOne, then they transferred my call to a "Debt Relief Company" and, since I have never been late on any of my Creditors and am not in a financial hardship, I told them I am not interested as these companies call you creditors to settle on a lesser amount, then close your accounts. All my credit accounts are and have been in good standing for many many years. Their goal would have been to damage my credit. Prosper should not be allowed to mislead Consumers by steering them to these companies. Stay away from this company.

They processed two payments. Which put me in a negative. Cost me 68$ in late fees threw my bank. Would not reimbursed. Because it was past the due date of the loan. But because of their mistake cost me money. Even received a emailed stating one payment was made. Then when I talk to customer service they told me emails are Courtesy. Could not explain why I only got one confirmation instead of two. Being they took two payments. Would not recommend to anyone.

I have called Prosper every week for a month and a half now trying to get my investment funds transferred to my checking account. Each time they have a different story and different date to when the funds will arrive, but they never do. I have been using them since 2012 and they have done nothing but go downhill. They are most likely about to shutdown. You should not borrow or invest with them. They may sound polite when you call them, but they are absolute liars. AVOID Prosper! Do not invest and do not borrow. They are the devil.

Invested $10K with Prosper in 8/2017. Set up balanced profile of auto investments at $100 each with mostly high-end rated loans. Average rate 13+%. 130 loans of $100 each, 7 of which defaulted. That $700 investment resulted in $2300 of write-offs (losses). Huh? And on two 1099 interest statements over the last 2 years I paid $600 in taxes on "interest" of $1500 I never received or could see reflected on my account. Now 2+ years later my account is $10,200 (I stopped investing in new loans), a -.42% return by their calculation, but closer to -1%. I can get a better return on my checking account.

What's with this average 5-10% return with Prosper? Based on my experience, seems like it might be a scam. Helpful customer service agent couldn't answer my questions, and was unable to access historical data. Hmm. But sent me a pdf of thousands of numbers apparently listing all the info. Not willing or able to spend the time to decipher it. Not that many reviews online about Prosper, but I would be VERY VERY WARY. Sincerely, Tom **

I've taken 3 loans from Prosper over the last 5 years and have had a perfect experience every time. The first time I was buying my first car and was not interested in buying from a dealership at inflated prices, and I was also afraid of the risk of losing my means of transport if I lost my job or something else happened (sorry, grew up in the hood and saw it happen constantly). I was willing to pay a premium to be able to pay cash in hand and buy whatever I wanted from a private seller. The next time I had credit card debt and wanted to refinance it and buy a new car after my first one flooded while I was at work. No hiccups. Perfect process.

My last loan was a simple measure or refinancing all the old stuff. My credit score is finally over 800 and sure enough, the 6.59% APR Prosper offered me reflected this. 5 years of business and payments. No hiccups whatsoever. Extremely fast loan funding and disbursal every time (last time, I was funded within like 2 hours). Understand your interest rates, service fees, and timelines, and opt out of autopay (sorry, not doing it unless you give me a discount on my APR), and you should have no problems! (Reading through some of these reviews) Instead of being insulted by the APRs they offer you, work on fixing the reasons behind those APRs. No institution is obligated to give you a loan.

This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. They have rejected my online payments 7x now. I have emails and was told over the phone, "Your loan is PIF." Then it is pending for 10 days. They reject the payment and ask for a check that will take at least 10 days to process. They never told me they were rejecting the payments. I can see the payments taken out from my Wells Fargo acct then returned. Mind you they get to charge extra interest that way.

I have now sent in 3 new emails to find out why the check I sent in on 8/20 has yet to be processed or any returned correspondence to say they did or didn’t get it. Why do the customer service agents tell people and send out emails things are paid off when they reject payments? Why don’t they accept the payment from my bank? They should be marked a scam since they don’t know how to respond to clients or accept payments. Every time they rejected my payment I got late fees since I could not make a payment since the account said PIF. No loan to pay... DON'T USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING AWAY MONEY! I've been an investor on the Prosper platform now for about 4 years, and I've got a bit over $25k invested. I never expected stellar results, but wanted to beat generic HYSAs, so it was good enough. I brushed aside the hidden smarmy fees, the high rate of defaults, and petty annoyances like dealing with the tax reporting, for a return of 3-6%, depending on the year.

But. I'm taking all my money out now, because I'm livid about the absolute stupidity of their decision to gimp the investor website. They've removed the overview of account, showing previous years, and summing deposits, defaults, etc. Sure, the information's still there, and there's likely a way to use their API to display it yourself... if you want to spend the time doing it. And, if you have that time? Why not put that effort into something that's gonna make more --- and not hand out free money to people who realize there's no real penalty defaulting.

This may seem like a petty reason to "take my money and leave", but the final straw is the exasperating rocket ship animation when you click on 'classic view', to be told it's been removed but, "Please leave feedback on what you'd like to see in the new interface we're working on!". That's right. They removed a perfectly working interface (ever used internally by Prosper reps, according to the ticket I opened about this!) that wasn't broken, without any replacement. That just makes me incredibly livid.

From what I've gathered, the reasoning behind is they were caught 'fudging' the return numbers, and this way, since they no longer display those numbers, they're no longer liable. It's just --- no. I don't know if the other P2P lenders are this devious or unconcerned about their investors, but Prosper's lost my confidence. And my money.

As an investor, they take 1% off the top. I knew of this as they advertise it. What they don't advertise is that they take about 10% of what you earn in "Service Fees". When your $25 fraction of the loan gets a payment, you might get 0.20 - 0.30 cents in interest for that month, but when they "deposit" it back to you, they charge you $0.02 "Service Fee" FOR EACH AND EVERY NOTE!!! Once I'm paid back, I'm out.

I was curious about lumping my recent credit card debt from a home purchase into one low monthly payment. I completed a few questions to see what my monthly payment would look like. Shortly after, someone called and told me he could only get me 17,000 at 700+ per month for 3 years. I said, No thank you and hung up. That weekend I checked my bank account (as usual for discrepancies/fraud). Prosper had placed $20,500.00 minus transaction fee in my account! I had surgery the following Monday and was not released until yesterday. I called them today to say I never authorized this transaction and they tell me I had 7 days to respond/change my mind and since it has been more they want the week's worth of interest and transaction fee!

I explained my situation and the person helping was extremely helping and is in the process of talking to her supervisors but I can tell they are dragging their feet because I called them at 10:00 am and it has been more than 4 hours and no one has returned my call! On your account-there is a daily interest link that says the interest will increase after 5:00 pm today! Wow, I am reading all of the complaints on this site. And I have never experienced any of it. I currently have a loan with Prosper which started in 2016. They never asked me for any pay stubs. All they needed was proof that I had a business. They ran my credit, verified that my bank had been open for more than 3 months by me calling with them on the phone and bammm the money was in my account 3 days later! I received a 15,000 loan. Interest is kinda stiff but my tenants pay for that. Since, I've never received a call from them, they didn't harass me during or after the transaction was complete. I've never gotten a call from any Asians or anyone for that matter. I dealt with English speaking people during the deal. I didn't feel pressure, it was like a normal transaction. It seems like someone is scamming and pretending to be Prosper, maybe there's a fake website out there.

People overseas are doing the all they can to scam people in the US. I tried calling HP about a printer and got the number offline where I was speaking to Asian speaking people who tried to con me and get personal information, they then tried to remote hack my computer. I immediately hung up and disconnected my wifi. WOW is all I can say. I will be doing another loan with Prosper when this one is done this year. I'm praying that I don't run into the problems that i'm reading about next time around.

Following my application, they called me at work to verify my employment and then followed up with an emailed request for supporting documentation for my paystubs from my full-time and part-time jobs. I supplied my FT job's stub and let them know I would turn in my stub from my PT job the next week after I was able to pick it up. I received an email every single day since then for a week reminding me to turn in the documentation, as well as a second phone call AT WORK asking for the document.

When I told the person who called that I was not able to get them the pay stub until the next week, she said to just submit anything within the last 30 days. I told her again that I did not have one available and would submit it the next week. I still received emails daily requesting the documentation and even though I wrote requesting that they never call me at work again and to stop the emails, they haven't stopped. It's annoying to the point that I'm considering canceling my loan application with them. How sad, and angering, it is to have a company practice deceitful moves such as this. They have stooped to placing business solicitations in plain white envelopes with a fake USPS official delivery sticker(not a sticker like USPA real ones, but printed on envelope), no company name, but an address, and a fake stamped "final attempt".

I feel this is their sneaky way of directing citizens to open their envelope when the citizen probably would not have opened it if their name was present on the envelope, and the envelope did not give the appearance of being something of importance. They make it look like a dun. Like it is a final attempt to collect unpaid funds before progressing to the court system. This is wrong. Just wrong. And, I want my mail carrier to know that I pay my bills on time, and have a 100% on time record with the credit bureaus. Something should be done about businesses who have to stoop so low in order to garner new business. What do you think of this business tactic?

Well I applied for Prosper loan and the girl that took my information in the application department approve me for more of a balance than I wanted so I said, “No I don't want that amount. I only want the certain amount.” So she said, “Okay,” and she took all my information. She said, “Somebody from the verification department will be contacting you,” so two days later three days later they called me back and they verify everything and they said, “Well we have some information incorrect. We're going to have to cancel your loan and restart a new loan.” So I said, “Okay people make mistakes. Fine.” So we restarted the new loan. I was still quoted the amount that I wanted.

They tried to still get me to take more and I said no and I did the 3-year commitment but with the loan that I got I'll have it paid off faster so after we did the application again I made the representative read back all the information that I gave them to make sure there is no confusion. That went through fine then they sent me the website email and you have to go in there and download like your source of income and all that. I tried that. Some of my stuff did not go through well so what I did was I called in and give me my account number and I faxed everything to them so they could download it to the system and I didn't have an issue with them telling me it could take a couple days to get downloaded to the system.

So then I get a phone call saying I need to get a counter check from my bank. So I went and got that and then they needed to verify my bank account will my policy and my bank is outside lenders are in even any like where my apartment building is when they needed to verify my bank. They had to fax the request to my bank of my bank will send the reply. I cannot request that so the supervisor that I talked to said, “No I'm just going to go ahead and get the loan approved,” and I was like, “Okay but I would prefer that you faxed a request over so when I got the confirmation that my funds were going to be put into my account.”

What happens again but they enter the wrong account number so then I had to call the escalation department and ask them to correct my account number and they did and then they sent me an e-mail and it was updated and then I got a call this evening telling me that, “We updated your information but unfortunately since we had the updated your loan will not be deposited.” It may take up to 5 days for it to get into the system meaning that it will be deposited into my bank account and they verified my account number my routing number again my day you know so I asked, “Am I being charged interest while waiting for this to go through my account,” and they said yes. So I said, “Get a supervisor on the phone.”

So I said, “You need to put a stop to this interest that I'm being charged cuz I haven't received any money and I'm not paying it now.” See this is where I said I think they do this on purpose to try to get extra interest but I'm no stupid fool so if it isn't deposited by next Tuesday I'm going to cancel my account and I've already going to contact the Better Business Bureau. You have two when I went on the Better Business Bureau to see who I would file a complaint. It's in San Francisco so I have to call San Francisco did you your complaint with the Better Business Bureau but the FTC you can also contact them but to me to go through all this paperwork and set up an account and I already have like a Payday and they confirm my date and my interest rate.

I'm sure that my loan will go through but I had to stay on top of them to make sure that all my information remain correct. That's one thing I recommend to anybody. If you apply with them with any loan place but we'll see if my money gets deposited. If it sounds like I don't think it's going to I think they're playing a little game but my thing is I haven't received funds and if they think they're going to get a little bit of Interest money out of me I've already told them that I will get a lawyer and I've also notified my bank. You know I'll no excuse me I will notify my bank of them trying to withdrawal money. That's fraud.

They will send you documents via e-mail with information pertaining to your loan. They then tell you that they will put x amount of dollars in your bank account first in order to secure the loan.

They ask you to go to a Walmart or a Target store and purchase a gift card that has to be loaded with those funds therefore supposedly securing your loan showing that you have good faith in giving back the money, but what you don't know, while they were getting all your personal information i.e. bank account #, routing number name and address etc for the loan, they contact your financial institution claiming to be you, and have various transactions that you have already paid reversed, therefore that money that you think they put in your account is actually your own money. After you have loaded the gift card they ask for all the transaction information of the receipt therefore giving them access to that card, and you are left with no loan and money being scammed from your bank account. Please I ask you do not do business with these people you could be sorry. I was a victim and will not be again.

I went online to apply for a loan & was emailed/contacted by Prosper stating that I was approved for $5000. I was instructed that in order to receive the funds, I would need to pay PPI (Payment Protection Insurance). This would protect me & them in case I was not able to pay the loan's monthly payments. I was instructed that this amount needed to be paid & could not be taken out of the loan. I did not know any better, but did voice my concern, that I felt uncomfortable paying the amount, I was told by the rep that if the amount was not transferred into my account within 45 minutes, I could cancel the transaction of the PPI.

Well after a complete runaround, the loan was never transferred into my account & I was not able to cancel the payment of the PPI. I was told that they could send the amount to Western Union but I would have to pay the fee, which was over $400 & again that amount could not be taken from loan amount. I explained to them that I did not have it & was not going to allow any more payments to them. I accused them of fraud & the rep hung up on me.

After a week & half & numerous phone calls & emails I was promised the refund of the PPI, but of course I got the complete runaround. They are a complete scam & once they have your info & routing & banking info they will fraudulently log into your online banking & basically steal your identity. They are unethical, immoral, criminals, not legit, & are somehow allowed to continue taking advantage of people in need. Please be aware of PROSPER LOAN SERVICES at prosper.loan.services@gmail.com, Ray **, who is the head loan rep at **, Sean ** & Hugo **... Please be on the lookout & do not fall to their scam... IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE & they will sit & laugh at you while they give you a runaround!!!

I have paid over $5k to get the top coaching in the world according to Prosper. Let em tell you, I am now successful thanks to ME doing my homework and building my business from the ground floor up. But, I hoped that I would get value for money, when all I got was a guy asking me the most basic questions ever. To be honest this is what made me want to be the best in my niche. Thanks to the great training I have received since then I am thankfully able to help others. No thanks to Prosper who took my money and didn't help me change my life. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY with them, go to the coaching bodies like the ICF and find reputable coaches and you will find what you are looking for in your area. Hope this helps! All the best.
