I had been a loyal customer without any problem since I opened a checking and savings account with Home Savings Bank in 1985. It was acquired by Washington Mutual, and then by Chase bank.
On August 1, 2011, I received a letter from Chase Bank mentioning my checking account will be closed on August 27, 2011. Checks should not be deposited within five business days from 8/27/2011. They did not mention any reason why they are closing my checking account.

I was recently a victim of fraud due to the negligence of this branch manager, which resulted in the fact I was held liable for a huge sum of money because he did not provide me with very useful information.
I just started a new online job and it went well for the first two weeks. Even though I was working with this so-called company, I still had at the back of my mind fraud. I went to the Time Square branch and asked to speak to a branch manager and was put on to Mr Val. I showed him my first paycheck and expressed my concern of fraud. He simply looked at the check and said to deposit it without any other warning or advise. I asked him when would the money be available and he said the next day.
So I was told by my employer to withdraw the money in order to purchase my office equipment. I did not hesitate because the manager told me the funds would be available when the info he held back was it was a courtesy of the bank to make the funds available and that if I had concerns, I should allow 6-7 days for the check to be fully cleared.
I did call him at the branch and he denied having this conversation with me. I even started paying on the amount because he said he would help me in order to save me from being reported to Chex systems every time I call. He told me he will call back, but never did. He promised to have my deadlines pushed up and when I called him, he gave me a phone number where I was transferred around and no one helped me.
I am frustrated and tired of the runaround, something I think could have been avoided if he was more informative.

I have a loan with Chase. I have been trying for over a year for a loan modification. I have been really aggressive talking to Chase and telling them I will probably fall behind because this past March, I have been on disability from work and my disability benefits will end. Plus my hours were cut.
I have been given every excuse in the book! it wasn't until a month ago when I was told my type of loan, FHA Ginnie Mae, does not do loan modifications and Chase can not do anything for me. In fact, I was sent a letter that gave me options, one of them said I am free to go with another lender if I wish to.
Now I am two months behind and the phone calls from Chase loss mitigation department will not stop even after I talked to four people since the middle of July, telling them I won't be able to make my July and August payment.
I have never been late with any of my bills or mortgage payments! Chase could not wait to report me to the credit bureaus! I think the customer representatives who work for Chase do not know what the hell is going on, let alone speak English! Chase claims they want to help us keep our homes. They are full of it!

I received a card in the mail offering $150 if I opened a checking account with Chase. I logged on to the Chase website and provided all the information required.
I did not apply for a credit card or a loan, just for a checking account to have my paycheck deposited into. I funded the new account. I signed up for online banking, including a user ID and a password.
Next day I could not access the account. I received a text message that my account was overdrawn by $9,999,999.99 (nine million).
I called customer service and was told to go to a branch to verify my ID. I went to the branch and the representative told me that I had answered a question wrong and Chase had cancelled my new account.
I left the building, puzzled. So, no account with Chase. It’s the first bank that turned me down as a customer, although I wanted to bring money to the bank.

I've had a free checking account with Chase for four years. As of two months ago, they've begun charging me for this account. I was not informed they would begin doing this. In effect, they deceived me.
Originally (last month) they only confiscated the small amount left in my checking account -- because it was a negligible amount, I called and was told my account had been closed.
A few days ago I received a notification that they expect me to pay ten dollars for my empty account.

I opened a checking account in response to an offer to add $125 to my account after 6 months if I maintained a minimum balance. After 6 months (and 6 finance charges because I couldn't direct deposit $500/paycheck), I called and they said that the direct deposit was a requirement for the bonus as well. This was documented only in the fine print on the 20-page follow-up document they sent which actually arrived after the deadline was posted to set it up. In short, they dealt in bad faith by not being upfront about me needing to set up a direct deposit at account origination in order to get the bonus. I don't believe that what they did is illegal, but certainly it's dishonest. And I also don't have the paperwork I'd need to have to take them to court, which would cost more than the damage they've done. I just want to make sure the complaint is available to warn others.

July 26, 2011. I have numerous chase accounts and we are currently in the process of getting a third Chase loan. We have never had such a bad experience with Chase as we did this time. The loan officer Mark ** at the Chase Westgate Branch in Rochester NY has been horrible. He almost caused us to lose the house as he "got too busy to do the paperwork". We called to ask where the appraisal was as it was due in two days. We've come to find out it was never ordered. We also had not signed any paperwork yet. He never asked for the appraisal! He had weeks, yes weeks, to do it and he said "he's just been too busy". We had to get an extension with the seller's realtor. He also never locked in our loan rate until I had to ask why it wasn't done. His response was "I forgot".
Debbie and David **, the branch manager, have been wonderful. Without them, nothing would have got done. They apologized numerous times for Mark's actions. We also had the Chase New York State Division Manager, Ron **, help out. He pulled some strings and helped get the ball rolling. He also had to keep on top of Mark to get things accomplished. Because of Mark's inability to do his job, Chase had to involve numerous other employees to get the loan done. At one point, I had to contact the underwriter (Kristina **) to find out what they needed to finish the appraisal. She was also wonderful and very helpful. However, customers should not have to do all these to get a loan. Mark's incompetence had caused a lot of stress to my family, lawyer, realtor and other Chase employees.
After the appraisal was done, we still had problems with Mark and we had to go above his head and talk to the Chase underwriter Kristina ** yet again because Mark didn't know if he would have time to get the necessary paperwork. We then had a third bad experience with Mark. We needed the clear to close letter. We left Mark numerous messages and emails and he did not respond. He finally called my realtor and said there was an issue with the appraised value.
My husband, Adam **, realtor and myself called Mark on a four-way call and the realtor caught Mark in a lie. We explained to Mark we have to keep going over his head because he will not do his job. He said, "Oh I'm working on it". He knew all the deadlines and still everyone else had to get the information needed to close. I am very happy with the help we received from David **, Kristina **, Ron ** and Debbie. As a Chase business and personal customer, our experience with Mark was so horrible and his lack of customer service had made us think twice about changing banks. He is a very bad reflection on Chase and I hope other customers don't have to deal with his "I don't think I have time attitude" or "Oh yeah, I forgot!". Again, we had to get several people involved to do HIS job. Please send this to whoever will best handle it as I would hate to see another customer have similar issues. I can also talk to you if needed.
Update 8-3-11: I was supposed to close on 7-29-11 and we were able to move in but had to pay rent for $35.00 a day till today (Wednesday) for Chase is not doing the loan. It's 10:43am and my closing is at 12:00 today and no one can tell us how much money we need to close! The lawyers for us and the seller have tried to get it from the bank but no one had answers! One hour till I close and we have no information. This is the 6th mistake Chase has made on the loan and I am unbelievably disgusted with Chase. I hope the bank doesn't treat all their loan customers this way. We have a senior district manager (Ron **) involved and he cannot get any information to us either. What is Chase going to do about these constant problems? Please send this to the appropriate dept. ** Jan **. Loan number **.

I received a text message from Chase stating I had overdrawn money, when I knew for a fact I have not touched my card for about a week.
This also happened about two weeks ago. However, this time, I was on the phone with Chase for over two hours, was hung up on two different times and was treated very poorly. Nobody was able to explain the reasoning for this overdrawn charge. I spoke with at least five different people and everyone gave me a different story, stating it was from June, July, even stating it was from May when it is now August. Nobody could give me a straight answer. Finally, they accused me of using my card when I was really at work.
I have never been treated so poorly, and felt as if they weren't willing to hear my side of the story. Nobody would listen and everyone just kept stating it needed to be paid. Again, a charge from May when it is now August. I find that very hard to believe. But again, nobody seemed to know what they were talking about as I did speak to about five different people. I am very upset with Chase and their staff.

I had overdraft protection for up a $1000. Then suddenly I didn't and was not notified. I went in to find out what was going on and was told they no longer offered the overdraft protection. The charges went from a minimal amount with the protection to quite a large amount without the protection. Over half of my disability check was being taken for the charges. There was no way I could catch up. It got to the point that my entire check was going towards the payments therefore my account was closed for an outstanding negative balance.

Chase told me last year I could open a business account with NO service fee since I had a personal checking and savings account and I opened it with $100. Now it's 07/30/2011, that account is overdrawn $12. They've been charging that business account $12/month service fee and now there's no money, but a debt there. What happened to "no fee"? They said no fee for either the business OR personal account, not both.

I have been doing modifications with Chase for 2-3 years. I have done at least five modifications and they keep giving me terrible offers. I have been so sick the past year that I can’t go out of the house. I will be well and ready to work in a month. My unemployment just ended, and they will not wait a month so I can go back to work. They have been waiting almost three years and a month before I can work. They say I have to short sale because I have no income. It seems a waste to wait all this time and a month before I’m well and can work, and they give up.

After doing business with Chase for 26 yrs we got involved in a trial modification for 3 months that turned into 8 months and it increased our mortgage payment by 230.00. We were lied to. Chase had us believing we were going to be helped and instead our payment was increased. Our credit was destroyed showing 120days past due on our mortgage . We did not receive any answers from Chase in any kind of timely fashion. We are still oblivious to our current state of affairs with Chase Bank.

I had a loan with someone back in 2007. We split and the business was transferred over to her 100%. We transferred loans over into her name. I logged in to my checking account yesterday and noticed that $2,400 was just RIPPED out of my account.
They claimed they don't have any of the transfer paperwork so not only am I on the hook for the TOTAL amount of the loan (given that my ex defaulted on it about six months ago) and that it will most likely hit my credit in about three-six months. So I went to as many people as I could and only one person actually tried anything. Now I am fighting it at the executive level and hopefully I can get this reversed. The funny part is my ex has stood up to the task and told them that she was the responsible party but they just don't care.
Thanks Chase. You really stink!

We were offered a loan modification as we were struggling to make the payment after my husband had a major stroke and could not work any longer. The smooth-talking fellow said we "qualified" and that our new trial modification payment would be $241.43, down from $940. I asked what the catch was and was told there were none, and given a confirmation number of 10705849. I was elated, but not for long!
The harassment calls started almost immediately. We faithfully paid the new payment, and filed four times for a modification. At no time could I call "customer service" and find anyone who knew what was going on, and was transferred dozens of times to someone else, even Kiddee Care! Finally, my husband developed stage 4 cancer, and only then were we notified in January of 2011 that we were approved.
The payments were raised to $996 and $20,000 added to our mortgage. We have made every payment on time since February. Now here we are in July of 2011, and we are now told that our modification was denied, that the final documents were sent to us but not returned within the 30 day time frame. Now we are also told that we are 360 days past due, and owe thousands in late fees!
We did not get the final documents, only six more letters of acceleration and offers to do a modification. We now must apply again or face foreclosure. There is no way to sell our property and since we still have some equity left in spite of the lower property values, I am not going to let Chase take the ranch. The person who told us we were approved was Tiffany, 866 222 5920 ext. 3228667, who will not answer the phone when I call.
Isn't there anyone in the legal profession who will stop these scams from banks? I am looking strongly at bankruptcy at this point, but why does it have to come to this? Our credit is ruined already, no one will loan to us, so what is there to lose? I am physically ill trying to deal with this.

I opened an account with the Muskegon branch location and I was given an access checking account, where you can only use a debit card but it had the bank account and routing number, because I had bad deal with another bank. They advertised that if you open an account, you will get $125 within six weeks, but that it does not apply to the access checking account. I told them that it had all the stipulations as the other accounts and they still argued with me. I then asked for a cashier's check to take the cash advance to get some money and they told me that my account was not for check writing and that I could not have any checks. I then closed my account and went to another bank in which I was qualified for a similar offer.
There are several banks that are offering that amount of money to open an account but that one does not care about no one. The reason my account was an access was because I deposited a check that was no good, but nothing came of it. No funds were released and they would not allow me to keep my account and it went into delinquent payments of $28. The check was not mine but that I was doing someone a favor and did not know it was not good. That shouldn't have caused my account to close. Nor should I have been charged a fee for my account and penalized with closing it.
It caused a lot frustration trying to keep a bank for my funds and a lot of other legal disputes and lawsuit with other banks.

I had a Chase checking account that I used only for emergencies, or to quickly pay a credit card online if automatic payment failed. I kept more than the minimum balance to avoid all fees-- for years. Then in February, they changed the minimum balance, and buried that information in some kind of letter (pages long and of small print like what I get from credit cards all the time). They did not send a clear letter saying simply that, " we will charge you $12 per month now", or send any statement that they had started taking the money. There was no email or written statement that my balance was changing. So, I did not notice the withdrawals they were making for six months. They did not refund all the fees after I noticed them.

My boyfriend got cash at Chase Bank office deposited into my account. I was running short since I had to use up a lot paying bills and medications for my child. He deposited the cash at the office; it would go through faster; rather than at the ATM. Also, the teller said that you can use the first 100 right away with cash; the rest will take time. The deposit was put in the bank in the morning, before noon. My child, finally with all his medications, went to sleep. I knew he would be up in a few hours for more medications. I asked my next-door neighbor to watch my child for 45 minutes, so I can get more medications and some food. Before I left the house, I checked online that the money was ready to use, not waiting-to-be. I was surprised that the whole amount was ready to use. I went to the store and got the meds and stuff -- total was under 100. I had only brought my Chase card and ID. I went through the line and the cashier said, "Your card has been declined." I ran it again -- declined; and the manager ran it -- declined.
The manager said, "Are you sure you have money in your account?" I have never been so humiliated in my life; at the same time, how am I going to get the medicines for my son?; he will need it soon. There wasn't enough time to go home and come back before the store closed. Outside the store, I called the number on the back of the Chase card. The Chase guy said, "That should have not happened. You have money in your account, please hold." He came back on the phone and said that they are running "maintenance". Maintenance is being run on our systems, huh? That means that all Chase cards will be declined (meaning the computer system is down or they are updating, until its done; all cards are declined) even if you have money in your account. I don't remember reading anything about this, or being told.
The chase guy says, "It's just policy." I asked so you don't have to tell us, "It's just policy". At this point, I am begging the guy because my sick child will be up and needing his medication. My other line rings and it my house; that means my child is up and crying in pain. I am yelling at the Chase guy to do something, so I can get the medications to my child; so I can stop the pain. The Chase guy gives me to his boss, or head guy at Chase. The head Chase guy comes and tells me the same thing as the guy before (at this point, I am yelling); and I'm telling him that I have a sick child who needs his medications. My child is crying because he is in so much pain (That is why I'm writing this in here), and that I really need the medications.
The head Chase guy said, "You have money in your account, but you will not be able to use it until 1:30am. That is 'just policy'." ** I am crying, begging this guy, but I keep hearing "just policy". I, finally, said, "Are you going to pay for my child to go back to the ER because it's 'just policy'?" I finally just hanged up. Beware of Chase. Even if you have money in your savings or checking account, you may not be able to use it (or be declined), because they are doing maintenance at 11PM. Why bother keeping money in the bank, when they control when you can use your money and not you?

I am a freelance editor and I am a former Wamu customer whose account was absorbed by Chase bank. I had very few problems with Wamu but my year with Chase has been difficult. In May 2011 I was paid for a freelance job and put in a deposit of $800. I wrote a few checks and paid some bills, and found out a few days later that my paycheck from my client had bounced. I was unable to get a new paycheck in right away (they don't grow on trees!) and my next "big enough to cover it" paycheck wasn't due until June 15. I called the bank, and told them I would make another deposit by June 15. The amount I was overdrawn was about $470.
The bank account is my own, it is NOT a joint bank account, but I did put my mother down as a "Trustee" in case anything happens to me, so she can access the account. My mother is in her mid-80s and has an illness exacerbated by stress.
Even though I told Chase bank on the phone the date I would get the money back in the account, I received numerous, at least a dozen more, harrassing phone calls, asking me to put the money in the bank NOW. Each time I explained that I would be happy to do so, on June 15. Then they started calling my MOTHER. One guy named Eric harrassed her so much that she had heart palpitations when I came home after she had talked to him. She was visibly upset, almost crying, saying, "we have to put $500 in our bank account right now! I'm going to lose all of my credit!" It was ridiculous that these people called my MOTHER, a TRUSTEE on the account, to try to collect. Highly illegal too, I might add.

My sister had a power of attorney on my mother, and opened up a bank account at Chase where her social security checks were being directly deposited. My sister and her husband were misusing my mother's assets, so I had to take them to court. When I was appointed temporary guardian over my mother, they froze my mother's account because it had social security funds; and I was not authorized. They told me that I would need a court order to access that account. I got a court order. They told me that the court order was no good; I needed to file with social security to be a representative payee.
I filed with social security and was appointed representative payee. They told me that I needed an 'award letter'. I went to social security and got what social security calls their 'award letter'. Chase said that it's not an award letter, and won't release the funds. I have been legally appointed her curitix by the court; I have been appointed her representative payee by social security -- and none of this is good enough. What will it take to get my mother's money? Or will they always refuse and I will never get it? Who can stop this?

For a single "overdraft" I was charged repeated fees that totaled between $300-400. When I called Chase, the representative to whom I spoke first denied that I had been charged overdraft fees. After I continued to speak with him and he eventually was able to "see" some of the charges. I was in Las Vegas at the Bellagio gambling. I know you will probably find this hard to believe and think that I am making this story up (pretty much what Chase did). I asked the cocktail waitress for a "black and tan", which is a Guinness and Harp Ale mixed together making the black draught beer float to the top. She told me that they only bring out beer in the bottle, so I ordered a Newcastle. While I was sipping that, she then brought to me what looked like a black and tan. I drank that and never finished the Newcastle.
I am 280 lbs. and one black and tan has never made me lose $12,000. I lived in Las Vegas my whole life for 30 years and consider myself a smart gambler. I had a $3,000 daily transaction limit and $300 daily cash withdrawal limit. So how could I get $12,000? The answer to that was, when I went to the ATM machine in the Bellagio and got denied because I have exceeded my daily limit of $300, the machine then asked me if I would like to do a transaction without a PIN number for some ridiculous fee of $160 for $2,500.
I hit yes then a receipt printed out stating to go to the Cashier's Cage to get my cash. It was at the Cashier's Cage where they verified my identity and gave me my cash. Well, there were four charges and I only did two of them. I disputed the two duplicates when I got back home within a week and got awarded $6,000 back into my account and that was final chargeback resolution and not just a temporary provisional credit. I have the letters to prove it. I then thought about the fact that I was drugged by that drink because I would never do such a thing and Vegas was slow and they definitely live up to the stuff in the movies about how dirty the play was.
I then checked into my daily transaction limit and it was $3,000 so I wanted to find out why they would authorize $12,000 within a 24-hour time frame. I then disputed the other two charges for that reason, that the bank should not have authorized more than $3,000. They then said they had to reverse the first two chargebacks that were already awarded to me then submit all four together. They then did that and days later, all were denied including the two chargeback duplicates that were accurate and that had already been awarded to me. I spoke nearly 15 hours that week with their fraud department, which was very frustrating because half the time, incorrect notes were being put in by the Asian over-the-phone support. They really screwed up my account due to their lack of fluent English-speaking skills.
A week later, I finally spoke with an upper management and he clearly fixed the two original error charges that I had charged-back and won. Two days later, they were reversed again.
I needed help here. Almost a year has passed and clearly, many rules and regulations were broken here. Another very important fact is that the charges on my statement showed Bellagio charges as regular transactions, as if I was just shopping at a gift shop there or something. It had nothing in relation that it was an ATM cash withdrawal for gambling with a 500% charge and fee for utilizing it. So, why is that fee so high? The answer to that was, many do not realize that and don't chargeback anything. But there are those who do win their chargeback disputes and that's why the Bellagio uses a third party called Global who will guarantee the Bellagio their customers funds.
I am telling you that this needs a team of highly competent professional individuals who are willing to put in hard investigative work to help me and help prevent this from happening again to anyone else. I would really appreciate any help you can provide. The account since then has been closed by Chase for being negative $6,000 and sent to collections. Just one last thing I forgot to mention, sorry for being all over the place in the piece of writing, please excuse any typos. That last thing was that I had unauthorized charge privileges and alerts set up and that was one of the reasons I even chose to go with Chase--for their high-end security alert features, the ones they would have in all their commercials a few years ago that alerted the cardholder when suspicious activity took place on their card.
Wouldn't $12,000 in four transactions within eight hours from Las Vegas, an out-of-state transaction given that I live in Scottsdale, AZ, constitute a call, text, or even an email alert (which I had set up when I opened my account and set up its online access)? When I mentioned to Chase that I didn't even receive one alert, they just remained silent on the phone as if I didn't even say anything.

She demanded more money, $2800, and if I didn't agree to pay it before I hung up the phone, she would attach my pay for $3700. I tried to explain that Chase had taken all my money and she kept giving me ideas for where I could come up with the money (credit cards, borrow from someone, cash in my 401K, which I do not have, etc).
I said I couldn't do that and she said if I didn't give her $2800 immediately, she was documenting it as an outright refusal to pay. She said nine letters had been mailed to my address (to my son) and I should have opened his mail or called the bank periodically to see if the loan was being paid. My son does not live with me, but every few months comes and picks up his mail. The bank never sent me a letter, and when I mentioned this, Edina became enraged and started screaming at me, "It doesn't matter!
You cosigned for the loan!" like that gave me powers to know what was in other people's mail. She said that the agreement I signed said they could take my money right out of my account without notifying me. Then she says, "So, since you are refusing to pay, I will say thank you for your payment that you have applied toward this debt," and she was so smug that I have lost everything, without even been given the chance to make payments on my son's behalf. He pays other bills so I don't know what happened to this one.

After sending my complaint yesterday, about the closure of my account, I went online this morning to look at my account, it showed an available balance but it does not show my payroll ACH deposit. I called the 877-691-8086 number and spoke to two different people, who put me on hold for several moments saying they needed to review the notes, then came back telling me there is a one-day hold on my ACH deposit due to the restrictions on the account.
How can they hold money that belongs to me, that they have received through a wire transfer, even after all the items they were saying that were pending have been cleared? What money I have may not be much but it feeds my two teens since I am a single widowed mother working full-time, to just try to pay my bills. $400 a week may not be much to some people but it keeps the lights on in my house and food in my children's mouth.
This is so unethical. They say they cannot release my funds to me and don't even show the ACH deposit that was on the account yesterday. I did print this morning's statement and wished I would have thought to print yesterday's. How in the world can they hold my money, when all transactions they were questioning have been cleared?

I went to chase to help my daughter open a teen account. They told me I had to open my own account with them in order for my daughter to open one. With the accounts being opened for only two weeks, I made some deposits on each of the accounts through the ATM. The checks I deposited did not clear and my account was overdrawn but not for the amount of the deposits. So when I realized that both accounts were overdrawn, I deposited $350.00 cash into my account and $150.00 cash into my daughter's account to fix the accounts. That evening, I made another check deposit through the ATM and my payroll check was ACH deposited that same evening. I also spoke to Angie at the Teays Valley location that opened my accounts for me and told her about the mistakes and mess. She refunded one of the overdraft fees for me.
The next day, I received a text on my phone of the balance in my account around 12pm saying that my account was overdrawn by $9,999,943.53! My daughter received the same text about her account! I called the bank and they said it was because of the bounced checks and they were closing my accounts and freezing my funds! I could not get them to reopen the account and would not give me access to my money! I explained to them that I am a single widowed mother living paycheck to paycheck and cannot go without my money. They were saying they would not release the money and finally Ilene at my branch said she would give me $100.00 of my own money. All this is after 4 calls to her and to the deposit analyst department at 877-691-8086 who constantly shuffled me around from person Matt to Eric and another woman whose name I can't recall.
I understand they can hold the check I deposited through the ATM until it clears but not my payroll auto deposit! Is this even legal? I didn't realize they had the authority to hold all of my money from me! I am unable to purchase groceries for my family this week nor pay any of my bills! I have to change my direct deposit with my work. This whole thing causes me great distress.

I no longer work for Wamu which is now JP Morgan Chase Bank. I received the forms in Feb, 2011 to make an option to either roll over my retirement benefits or take as lump sum distributions. I mailed everything including a notaized consent form from my estranged husband who resides in CA, and had to go through mailing him the docs and waiting for it send back to WAMU. In April, WAMU sent the same forms back again saying that the forms were incomplete on my part and would not accept the same forms if I just refilled the missing information.
I had to go through the same things again, sending over the forms to my husband, having him go through the notary process and sending everything again back to WAMU on their prepaid envelope on April 27, 2011 via post office. I called them a week later in May to see if they got my forms. They said it hasn't arrived yet, and now the payment will be delayed to July 1st, since they didn't receive it by MAY 1st. I called on June 9th to follow up and check on the status. They said they still haven't received the mail and now the payment will be delayed until August 1st. They made me fax the forms which they said they will accept to process the payment.
Why didn't anyone advice me to Fax the documents earlier? Why is there a 2-month delay in distributing my retirement money? It's not my fault that they didnt receive the mail. It was their prepaid envelope. I asked the post office if I could expedite or keep track of it in the mail, but they said I couldn't. I need help to see how I can have them send my money by July 1st. I have waited long enough and it's just not fair for them to hold on to my money like that.

I received a letter from chase bank stating that they would close my 4 accounts within 2 weeks. I called chase at night. After waiting on line for ~10-15 minutes I got a customer representative who told me that she was calling a specialist to answer my question. She put me back on the queue. After waiting for another 10-15 minutes on line, I got a rude person that her answer was we are closing your accounts according to chase policy. Which policy! I asked. She wouldn't answer. I told her that I would accept it if she said I didn't know. I asked for supervisor and waited on the line again, but voila, no supervisor was available. She promised that somebody would call me on my cell phone.
Of course, no one did. I went to another branch next day near my work. I asked her to close my accounts and I asked her why chase wanted to close my personal accounts. She said she didn't know. I closed my personal and business accounts and unfortunately for chase which lost not only a customer but a lot of money too (I closed business accounts as well). No questions, I felt infuriated for not having any reason to close my personal accounts while they send me coupons for $50 or $100 to open new accounts previously.
By the way, the customer service representative (yes it is a joke, it should customer humiliating services) refused to give me an event number, a badge number, a direct line number, email me or fax me or anything to prove that I talked to her. All what she said rudely, everything is written on your account screen for which I don't have access f.! Bye, bye Chase. Bad banking.

I had just quit my job on May 18, because I'm moving in July. I needed time to get everything together. At the time, I had about $800. I had things to buy for my move, so I spent, I believe, less than $400, leaving me with $450-ish in my bank account. On May 31, I got an e-mail saying my account has been overdrawn. I looked up on my online statements, and two transactions were made on that day: in Virginia ($5) and one over the internet, LOWE'S of NC ($604.99). At that point, my account was overdrawn with $219.80.
Upset because I know for sure I didn't make any of the transactions, I called customer service and talked to Virginia who said, "We can't do anything, because it's still pending." Fine, whatever. She wants me to call back after the transaction has gone through. My blood is boiling at this moment. Then an hour later, I got a text message from Chase FRAUD: "Did you purchase $520.95 at a restaurant on 05-31-2011? If yes, reply 1; if no, reply 2." Immediately I started freaking out and I pressed 1.
My house phone started ringing. It's Chase Fraud; they gave me a phone number to call and a referral number. I called and gave the number. The person who was using my card number tried to make three purchases other than the three already made--all totaling more than $460 each. I'm put on the phone with a rep who never gave me her name and was told that my card was going to be closed and that they were going to issue me a new one, because someone had my debit card number. Ok, fine.
She then proceeded to tell me that in 24 hours, they would send me papers through e-mail that I had to fill out and send back to be reimbursed my money and I wouldn't be charged any overdraft fees. Then it is going on 72 hours. I have no papers, and I've been charged two overdraft fees of $34 each. So my account is at -$287.
I have no money, and I will be moving in less than a month. I also needed the money to take my driving lessons and get my driver's license plus get my cat spayed before moving. I have no idea if I will be able to do any of that. Thank you, Chase. I will be calling again tomorrow morning and demanding they send my papers, because as of now, I'm broke and unemployed. (sigh!)

Due to the holiday, I deposited $800.00 on Tuesday morning. The balance left after the deficit was $531.33. I called the next morning to check my balance and the account was closed and my balance was zero.
I talked to telephone banking, the recovery department, collections and then I went in and was told by the bank president in Lake Station that they would reopen the account; however, five minutes later I was told they could not and they would mail me a check for the five hundred dollars less a thirty-five fee for a charge off fee along with closing the account. Economically, I had no money left for food, bills, gas, etc.; they took all of my remaining money. Physically, I suffered stress and trauma, which resulted in a rash and high blood pressure. There are all these notifications that they offer to help manage your accounts. I have mine set to sending me a text message when my account goes below $50. And also I get an email if my account is overdrawn. Well, I logged into my Chase app on my phone and it shows I overdrafted $219. I double checked my notifications to make sure they were on and they were. But I never ever received a text or an email! I called Chase and was transferred to their notification department. I verified all my info was correct, in which it was. The lady was very rude and told me they had been sending notifications to my phone! I had 6 overdraft charges totaling $204, which means less than $20 were actual charges!
I finally asked for a supervisor. But of course, I got a senior support rep who told me the same thing. The rep said they can only refund me one of the overdraft charges as a courtesy. I stressed to him that maybe there might be an issue with their system that it didn't go through successfully. Is there a slight chance you can look into it since a lot of these systems can have glitches? The last email I read/received from Chase was telling me my deposit statement was avail and that was on 5/18. I never received anything afterwards! Now I feel so screwed by them because it's my word against theirs! After speaking to this person, I asked to be directed to voicemail of manager. But I doubt that will go anywhere. And maybe I'm fighting a losing battle but I am one to admit when I'm wrong. I should have balanced better and should not have trusted Chase notification options!

We received an unsolicited offer to modify our rental property from Chase. All we had to do was sign a modification agreement and send it back. We did so, never having to even speak with anyone, and our loan was modified from an ARM to a fixed rate. Because we were out of work, we decided to apply for a loan modification on our present home. We have a 15 year fixed and wanted to try and lower our payments by modifying to a 30 year fixed. We were not behind on our payments (actually have never been late) but wanted to stop draining our IRA accounts to make our payment. We sent in the application along with the documents needed that were detailed on their web site.
We eventually recorded a call and they were requesting more documentation, some of which was in the original package which I had to point out to our "relationship manager". He "found" was he was looking for and was going to submit to underwriting. Next call I get, they need more information. They asked me for a rental agreement which I sent the last time, explained they had the 2nd time and was now explaining they had for the 3rd time. They had asked me for my husband’s very last social security award letter and I told them I had current one but not sure if I had the first one because my husband had been getting social security for at least 10 years.
I found it though and sent it in. I also just stated a job and informed them and he asked for a pay stub. I told him my first check would only cover 2 days worth of work (employed thru temp agency) and that it would be 2 weeks before I get another check. He said that the one for 2 days would be fine so I sent that as well. Then he wanted proof of the rental income received. I pointed out for the 3rd time that it is automatically deposited into our checking account which happens to be with Chase and that in the first package I sent to him with my bank statements, I circled the rental deposits and wrote on the statement itself that this was deposit of rent (the amount which did in fact match the rental agreement which he could never seem to find)
A few weeks go by and I get another call asking for more information and now they want more recent check stubs from me and now they want my husband’s current social security letter, banks statements to prove receipt of social security and rental and current tax returns. Now, when we last sent our tax returns they were for 2009 because we hadn't filed our 2010 yet because this was before 4/15/2011. I sent the 2010 returns along with more check stubs.
Another couple of weeks go by and there is a message left on my home phone to call right away; I had requested they did not call my home phone because I am at work but that request was ignored. I tried calling back that time I left 6 messages over a period of 2 days. On the 3rd day I tried again, but his mailbox was full. I would say that almost every time I tried to call his mailbox was full. I called every hour on the hour and he finally answered the phone. The then asks me for the 4th time about my rental and if I have a rental agreement and tells me he needs my tax returns.
After coming totally unglued that he is asking me about the rental for the 4th time now and telling him he has my tax returns, he finds them. I asked him if he ever kept notes of any of our previous conversations because it's the same thing every time I speak with him. He says now I have to fill out a new application because now this one is expired because they don't have all my documentation. Is this guy for real? His listening skills are nil and he obviously doesn’t know what he is looking at. I ask to speak to a manager but he said he doesn't have one! Give me a break.
I tell him that he has everything they have asked for and that they recorded it in time. I have my fax and mail receipts. I tell him just to get me answer because I am not sending all this stuff again. He asked me to give him until 2pm the following day and he would get me an answer. Of course, I do not get the call and 3 days later I get a letter in the mail saying my request was denied because I didn't provide the documentation requested. They also had taken it upon themselves to pay my property taxes and homeowners insurance without telling me.
I found out when the country returned my check stating that Chase had already paid my taxes and when I got my insurance bill that showed paid as well. When I questioned this I was told that is what they do when someone applies for a modification and if the mod gets approved, then that is taken care of but if it is denied, then we have to pay them that money.

I was on ChexSystems because of a disputed account I had with WAMU. I went to Chase bank to cash a check for $400.00 written to me by my mother off her account. I was told I had to speak with a banker before they would cash my check. I explained to the banker at Chase bank that I was unable to obtain a checking account because of the disputed account with WAMU and that I was on ChexSystems. He assured me he could open an account for me as long as I followed certain rules. I asked him, can anyone or any business take the money from my account? He assured me that no one would be able to. I asked him if WAMU could take the money out of my account, he said no they could not.
So I opened an account, deposited my paycheck and two days later, I was sent a text message that I had a balance of $0.00. When I called Chase bank to inquire about what was going, I was transferred to a collection department and told that because of my outstanding balance with WAMU, they went into my account and took every dime. I asked for a copy of what they took and for a receipt, to which the person on the phone responded "we don't have to give you a copy of anything". I asked how I was supposed to prove this debt was paid off and prove who actually took the money from my account? She said she was not going to provide anything and I signed a form with the banker that gave them permission to take money out. I did sign a paper and foolish me, when I asked the banker to explain what exactly it meant, he brushed it aside and said it was something to the effect of the IRS or a court order to obtain information.
I went into the bank and spoke with a lady named Britney who called the collection agency and I paid the remainder of the owed balance of $220.00. Also, I was told I would have a copy of letter that it was paid in full within 7 days. I was also told that as long as debt was paid, my account would be fine, no problems. Foolish me again, I deposited more money into the account and again, I was sent a message that my account was $9,999,999.00 overdrawn. So I called, spoke to same lady Britney and she called someone else to find out what was going on. Britney said Chase informed her that I should have never even been allowed to open an account with them in the first place and my account was closed and money was froze for 10. After which, I would get a check for the remaining balance.
Am I mad? Yes, but I am more disappointed. I am trying to get my debt paid off, had a few hard years but moving forward and I feel like I was just lied to and I didn't have a account with Chase. It was WAMU and I was in the middle of working out a payment with them. I was wondering if others have had this experience with Chase. Is it legal to lie and mislead a customer? I am not crying about having the money for debt taken, I was fine with it. Another problem resolved is how I looked at it. But I am wondering if it was okay to tell me that I was signing a document that was for the IRS and then I found out it was a document that really allowed Chase to take money out of my account. I still do not have any proof that the money was taken and it has been over 7 days.

My mother died in September of 2009. She had a trust account with Chase Bank in the amount of $500 at that time. Since then, they have refused to release those funds to the 2 trustees of her estate, asking for all of the original trust documents. A copy is all we have. They are therefore requesting that we spend over $200 to get a certified copy of the trust from her attorney. We brought in the trustee's appointment letter, the copy of the trust, her original death certificate and everything we have.
Not only will they not release the money, they treated us as if we are thieves and scammers. We are my mother's 2 children. We are actually co-trustees on the estate and have filed taxes. Now, they are charging us $20 per month service fee while this account is in dispute. Their staff are complete idiots, like robots who cannot make a decision and we are probably going to sue them. We have spent hours and days at the bank, showing our documentation, arguing and et cetera. They would call their legal department and would tell us too bad. Every other account in the estate is closed and settled but they refuse to release this money without the entire original trust document which is not required by the law and are now forcing us to spend $200 to get an archived certified copy before they will even consider releasing the funds. Stay away from Chase Bank especially when it comes to trust accounts.
The trust was executed in 1987 and my parents did not possess an original. We cannot find it. Even so, we have an original trust modification dated April 2006 and they will not honor that stating that the co-trustees are administrators/inheritors of the estate accounts. That is not good enough for them. Horrible company, the staff is a bunch of underpaid fools and morons. Yes, we are angry.

My complaint is not with this branch location but with Chase and its policy of closing an account for fraud without looking into it in more depth. The police officer we reported the incident to said with the help of Chase bank, surveillance cameras and with other avenues of investigation they could perhaps find out who committed the fraud. But Chase closed the case and just decided to charge us for the loss even though we were the victims not the thieves. I did go to that branch to try and resolve the matter where fraud was applied to my daughter's debit card.
Someone stole her debit card and pin number from her wallet. Someone fraudulently deposited a check into her account signing her name and then drawing money from this debit card using her pin number. The Chase bank recognized it as being fraud (definitely not her signature) and did not charge for the check but did however hold her to the debit card withdrawals totaling $700.
Recognizing that this was fraud activity I feel they should take this loss and take it off the credit bureau and check cashing service. This account was used to pay her student loan and Chase said they could see that this was the majority of activity on this account. And that this incident appears to be an unusual activity.
As they stated, there policy is that if the pin is compromised they won't help even if you were not the person committing fraud. My daughter is young and just did not separate the two. What this does is destroy a good credit report for my daughter and her checking account record. She is a good student and is working hard to create a good record in school and in life as well.
Also as a single parent trying to get her through college and paying all expenses, rent, utilities, etc this creates a great amount of financial hardship for me as the sole provider and to pay an amount as this, or any amount that we did not make or are responsible for. I do not have the funds to pay back without causing financial difficulty. This is devastating to my daughter and to me and I would think that a company such as Chase would want to make a better relationship with its clientele. Please help us.

I was with Washington Mutual Bank and they offered us a so-called Loss Mitigation Loan--after one year - $3,883.43, next year - $4,525.66 and the next year - $5,197.07. This was to help us with the loan that we could not pay at $3,000.00 a month! At that time, Washington Mutual charged you $5,000.00 to get the Loss Mitigation Loan. How is this helping our situation? Go figure! So, Chase bought Washington Mutual Home loans and we asked Chase to redo the loan since we still could not afford it. To make this story short, we have been submitting papers for over two years now. Our loan is now aged in the system and Chase has not looked at the loan since 6/2010. Out of all four modification programs, we did not qualify for any of them.
I have been helping people prepare their modification forms and I am still helping some for over a year now. When they talk about the qualification, it's just all a lie. Out of 2.5 million in default, only 200,000 were qualified. Chase has over 220,000 foreclosures and they still have not helped many people at all. But the CEO of Chase got a bonus of $20.9 million and gave himself a raise of $1.9 million every year! Wow! They let go some U.S.A. workers and outsourced those jobs to the Philippines. Now, I call that a bank that is helping people!

I'm a longtime customer with Chase bank. I'm 50 years of age and they are the only bank that I have ever used. My entire family banks with Chase.
I've been noticing over the last several months that Chase is taking longer and longer to clear deposits and Quick Payments are considerably longer than the stated timeframe. On Saturday, April 16th 2011, a Quick Payment was sent to my account from a family member to cover two online purchases and I accepted it for processing immediately. The two purchase debits were applied to my account on Monday, the 18th, and were in pending status when the Quick Payment was cleared for deposit into my account that same afternoon. Chase however, did not deposit the cleared payment into my account after it cleared.
I waited an hour or so before sending an inquiry to find out why the deposit wasn't being applied to my account, and I did not receive a response from customer service. I discovered this morning that Chase decided to drive the two debits into overdraft before crediting my account with the deposit, and I was charged two overdraft fees totalling to $64.00 even though the debits and deposit were both cleared on the same day. I have demanded that these fees be removed immediately and will close my longtime account with them if they do not give this matter their prompt attention. This is an outrageous way for Chase to be treating their customers and they don't stop dealing with their clients in such a shady, disrespectful manner, manipulating the timing on deposits to generate service fees; they're going to lose a lot of business and they deserve to. Mine is going to go to another bank within 48 hours if they don't correct this, and I'm going to urge my family to move their accounts as well.
Chase has a lot of competition from other banks and credit unions that would be more than happy to handle my family's' accounts in a respectful and timely manner.

Me and my wife both have Chase accounts. We use online banking all the time. For a while, we have complained that we are receiving no updates or notifications regarding payments and balances. On 4/2011 we received 7 insufficient balance fees. We called customer service, and requested to have the fees removed since the balance is now -$250.00.
We now do not have any money in the bank. We got a $250.00 loan to pay off the penalty fees. 1 day after making the balance even again they assessed 2 more insufficient balance fees. We looked at our emails or text messages for any notifications, and we did not receive any.
The concern is that Chase Banks love to charge fees for which we have no knowledge of. I feel that they are applying these fees, to benefit from the consumers technical issues, and has no reasoning with the consumers.
I wrote this so that people are aware that the they are charging customers a $35.00 fee for $1.00 insufficient balance. The damage is that, these penalties put us in a negative position with our bank accounts. Me ,my wife, and 1 year old daughter now have to survive with no money for 2 weeks because they felt that 9 penalty fees are necessary, rather than 1 fee.

Wrongfully accused my father regarding the overpayment of $100. 4. Violating our civil rights on accessing my father's checking account.
My father carried fifty 20 dollar bills, which total $1000, to Chase bank in San Marcos California for exchanging ten 100 dollar bills for me on April 2, 2011 around 11:00 a.m. Around 2:00 p.m., we received a phone call from a teller called Angela *** who assisted my father at the bank. Ms *** states that she overpaid my father $100 earlier and would like my father to pay it back.
I asked Ms *** how did it happen and she told me that my father wanted to exchange the bills and she overpaid my father during the transaction. I spoke with my father in regard to the situation. My father states that Ms *** counted the money twice before she handed the total of $1000 back to him, which is the correct amount.
I explained the situation back to Ms. ***. I informed her that my father did not speak fluent English and I would like to represent my father to speak with the manager. After 10 minutes of waiting, no one responded.
Later that day, the bank manager, Mallorie *** called me back. She told me three different versions of the story. Version 1, Ms *** states my father only gave $900 worth of 20 dollar bills and Ms. *** returned $1000 worth of 100 dollar bills to my father. Version 2, Ms *** states my father only gave $900 worth of 20 dollar bills and Ms. *** returned $1100 worth of 100 dollar bills to my father. Version 3, Ms *** states my father only gave $920 worth of 20 dollar bills and Ms. ***returned $1100 worth of 100 dollar bills to my father.
I advised Ms. *** to review the surveillance tape and I also requested to watch the clip to prove my father is innocence. The manager refused to let me watch the tape and also said that once they find out, they will deduct $100 from my father's account.
We were very upset after the phone conversation with Ms ***. We felt extremely insulted and humiliated as Ms *** lost $100 dollar and they accused my father of taking the money without any evidence.
1. Angela **** was not only serving my father,***, on April 2, 2011. Why did she only contact my father and stated that she overpaid my father?2. Her story is not consistent and contradicting and they cannot just call and said that they overpaid my father and want my father to pay $100 back to them without any evidence.
3. They are wrongfully accusing my father about the overpayment of $100. If she states that she already knew it when my father was in the bank, then may I ask why Ms. *** and Ms. *** did not stop my father for the clarification before his departure? Based on their answer, Ms. *** already knows that she overpaid my father but she could not talk to my father as my father already left the building. This is not convincing and they are ruining my father's reputation with their accusations.
4. Being a teller, it is her responsibility to count dollars bill correctly before they put bills into their drawer and before they hand bills to the customers. They cannot just call the customers for any kind of problem; it is violating our privacy and striking our confidence in their customer services. Not only that, they are also destroying my father's reputation.
5. This type of improper and ridiculous phone call is harassment. It is very unprofessional and we felt extremely insulted and humiliated by their accusations.

I have a Chase checking and savings account. I wrote my son a check, which he encashed at the Chase in Parkland. That branch charged him $14.00 to cash the check drawn on my account. Their line was, ‘he didn't have an account with Chase’. Excuse me, I have the account. This seems unlawful to me, being I am a Chase customer (for now) and the check was written on my bank. I called the bank and was more frustrated after the conversation. I owed money to my son, and had to give him another $14.00, as the bank deducted the amount from the cash he received. What can we, as consumers, do?

Chase Bank is trying to charge me for an account that was closed. I never received a bill from them in reference to this account. I closed my last account with chase on November 2nd 2009. And at such time, I asked the attendant if there was any other account open because you cannot close an account with Chase unless you paid the balance in full. So, because there was nothing else in the system, all was good. To my surprise, I get a notice from a collection agency informing me that I owe $619. I have not received any notification from Chase in reference to the account at all.
This is affecting my credit report and they have failed to show me proof of owing this money. Every time I call on this matter, they have no answer for me and refer me back to the collection agency.

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for publishing my concerns on Chase Bank where charges are occurring to people's accounts. I have been thinking about this ever since the incident occurred and did close my savings account to keep from occurring more charges. But there is one thing that is still eating away at me. In the second posting you did, you were exactly correct in the wording that one deposit a month must be a minimum of $500 to keep from incurring a $12 a month fee to my checking account. There are a lot of people who are part-time employees that may get paid weekly or bi-weekly such as myself that don't net $500 per paycheck. So my question is this because we are the so called "little people" or "less fortunate" to make that much to deposit at one time, we should be penalized or have to pay the bank to use their services?

I haven't received any notices about Chase changing their banking fees and noticed that I had been charged $12.00 from my checking account. I kept in mind that I was with Wamu first where everything was free prior to Chase taking over. Last I heard, they were honoring everything that Wamu offered to their customers.
Anyway, so then I went to look at my savings account and $12.00 had been deducted from that as well. I kept my cool but was somewhat disgruntled at the idea of $24.00 coming out of my pocket and not knowing why. I went to the bank the next day and spoke with a gentleman named Jason. I had already made up my mind to close my savings account so that I wouldn't have two charges coming out for whatever reason. It seems that even though it's my money, upon making transfers online from checking to savings, I am only allowed so many per month, otherwise I get charged $12.00 a month and I must maintain $1500.00 in my savings account in order to not be charged as well.
When it comes to the checking account, in order to avoid the service fee of $12.00, there he informed me that I must have a $500.00 direct deposit go into my account. Mind you, not a total for the month of $500.00 but one check be that amount otherwise I get charged. I am utterly furious at the fact that it now appears that banks can charge consumers based on our salary and dictate how much we can make to do business with them.
I work part-time and although my checks go direct deposit and I put in more than $500.00 a month, because one check doesn't equal that, getting charged $12.00 is just wrong. I feel that if everyone knows what Chase is doing, they too would be upset. Don't let the banks find another way to take our hard-earned money because we can opt out of overdraft charges now that they can't collect on.
The consequence from this is that they lost a loyal customer due to their greed and I hope they lose many more. I do not see how they can dictate how much money you have to make to keep from getting charged by using their bank.

In settling a writ of garnishment with Chase Bank, I sent a check for $2800.00, which they acknowledged and received. I was dealing with a representative from the Legal Dept. named Norma who has been superficially civil since our correspondence began. Wachovia has seized the money in my accounts at that time and Chase owes me approx $800 - $900 USD in overpayment. I went to inquire about where we were in the refund process, and was told by Chase that Wachovia refused to release the funds to them and that it was Wachovia's problem.
I contacted Wachovia Legal and was informed that they can't release the money in question because Chase never sent a release to a John ** who handles these matters. I again contacted Chase Legal and was transferred to Norma who is still handling my account. She stated that she would pull my file for review but needed to take her lunch and would just get back to me. Through her tone and manner, she made it very clear that she did not think that my inquiry warranted any serious consideration . She bordered on being rude and was condescending by cutting me off before i could express my thoughts. I don't know, maybe she was late for lunch.
I was trying to inquire if something was holding up the return of my funds besides the fact that Norma apparently will not send a letter of release so her own company can get paid! If i am not mistaken, there is a step where they are waiting to take involving the court, etc. I wish she would have the courtesy to let me know. I have dealt with Bank of America and Citibank in trying to clear my debts, and both have been professional and helpful except the people at Chase Legal.

Chase Morgan bank announced it will start charging its former WAMU customers a checking account service fee of $15.00, starting on February 8, 2011. The Chase Free Extra Checking account will be converted to Chase Total Checking (or Chase Total Ripoff). To avoid the $10 monthly service fee, you have to meet one of the following criteria: 1. Have at least one direct deposit of $500, 2. or more each month keep a minimum balance of $1,500, 3. or more in your checking account keep an average balance of $5,000, 4. or more in combination of deposit accounts with Chase, 5. or investment accounts with Chase Investment Services Corp pay $25 or more in qualifying account fees (not including the monthly service fee). Yes, you'll have to work for your free checking now. I still like the convenience of being able to deposit checks with their iPhone app.
If you're unemployed, it can be challenging to meet any of these requirements, especially the one with direct deposit. Although California's unemployment office is moving in the direction of delivering unemployment via debit cards instead of checks sometime this year. What gives? Recently, the government started limiting certain banking fees, like overdraft charges. Now banks are looking for new ways to make money from us. To say that I'm livid is an understatement. I've had this checking account for quite awhile for 11 years before Chase Morgan bought out Washington Mutual in 2008. Before it was Chase, it was WAMU. Before WAMU, it was Cal-Fed. What can you expect in this economy?
Other major banks will soon follow this trend if they haven't already but some will grandfather in their older costumers and if you're a student you're entitled to free checking in most banks. Looks like I will have to take my money elsewhere, like a credit union or online bank. Time to explore other free checking options in the next post. Chase Morgan is trying to ripoff its customers to tell them to leave more money in or we'll take $10.00 out each month as a service fee. Personal accounts you need $1500.00 and you have to use that debit card 5 times a month also. Business you have to leave in $5000.00 but Chase Morgan says if you have $5000.00 in your business account they'll waive the personals free. Nothing is free as this is a huge change to its customers.
Chase Morgan reported profits last October 2010 $4.3 billion in one quarter, that's plenty. And they want all customers to pay for the makeover changes when they bought out Washington Mutual or WAMU, changing all the bank over with new furniture, signs, interior remodels on all the former WAMU banks, that cost over $600 million dollars which was wasteful to the customers for the merge makeover. As banking with WAMU for 11 years and now Chase Morgan making these changes, I am closing all my accounts with them. This is a total scam and the bank is corruption considering all these government bail out they got during the recession crisis this is awful to ask people to pay this huge fees and the CEO is sitting making his huge salary and on top of that the customer service gets worse and worse.
Talk about hiring foreign workers overseas, call the phone service, you'll get automated voice mail and then you get nothing but customer service from India, Mexico, Canada as Morgan Chase is outsourcing American jobs for greed and profits. How awful. I am ashamed as this bank and I am posting this because I am sad that the bank made this ripoff changes for the rich. Go elsewhere and find a bank that will not make stupid demands like this and find a bank they hires American workers instead. Chase Morgan charges $15.00 for business accounts! What a ripoff! I am closing this account today, I already closed my personal account last month. Chase Morgan formerly owned by Washington Mutual is ripping off customers with their scam fees. I was charged $15.00 service fee because I don't have $5000.00 in my business account and with personal they charge $10.00 a month if you don't have $1500.00 yet Chase Morgan continues to outsource jobs by hiring people in India, Canada, Mexico, Philippines because they want to profit and hurt Americans because of greed & capitalism.
I will post my complaint everywhere by cyborg posting my message about Morgan Chase bank as I was a customer for 11 years, total shack of shame on this bank. I went to other banks and there was no such fees. I am ** at this bank, ever since Morgan Chase bought out Washington Mutual I have been unhappy but now I am very unhappy and leaving this bank for good like many other people I know are closing their accounts too.

JP Morgan Chase has been ** us since 2008. They just told us today that they won't modify our mortgage loan (not in default) because we don't have an emergency according to fed guidelines--a total, outright lie. Our monthly gross is only $2,200/$2,600, while our mortgage, which is exactly half that lesser amount, means that we qualify for about $400 reduction using back end DTI, and around the same using front end DTI.
Last October, a TV investigative reporter in NE Ohio did a story about how we suddenly had a $400 jump in our escrow. After our own research, OH ripped us off on a sewer tax assessment, charging us thirty percent more over 20 years. So, when escrow catapulted to astronomical amount (which we never bargained for or were told about in any concrete way until it was too late and the city hired fancy lawyers to amortize what was supposed to be $12,300 over 20 years turned into $19K), it first looked like it was the county tax assessor's fault. Turns out, the city is getting kick-back over 20 years and they never disclosed these huge sewer tax assessment interest amounts in any original assessments, open public meetings or any other correspondences.
Plus, JP Morgan Chase (chase your tail) added on $222 monthly shortage spread for 12 months. Our mortgage jumped from $903 to $1,300 in one month, and we are expected to pay it for years to come. I'm unemployed, and awaiting final word on disability in the slowest state for SSI disability processing, Ohio. Today, JP Morgan Chase Your Tail turned down our loan modification request, pretending we've enough income. Again, I'm certain that they know they are lying because using either back or front end DTI, we more than qualify. They told us to refinance.
Whether using front end or back end, our monthly gross is only about twice our mortgage cost. JP Morgan is evil. If they could knowingly and wantonly rip-off those poor overseas American servicemen and servicewomen, they sure ain't gonna care about us! My consolation is sleeping at night. Somebody had better do something, and quick. The local TV news can't help us anymore; the community housing solutions agency can't help us. There just are no regulatory governing bodies forcing JP Morgan Chase to comply with federal mandates. I wonder why.

Therefore, could you please provide assistance in obtaining details from Chase to prove this debt actually belongs to my parent and what it consists of? However, should this debt be invalid, could you assist in recovering any money my parents have incorrectly paid to this company, as well as have this company remove harmful information from their credit reports? Since my parents are on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay extra expenses that do not belong to them. Thank you!

I was a happy WaMu customer and enjoyed their services, when Chase came in, I was okay with them. They even replaced the ATMs with the really nice ones so that made me ecstatic, but when I had to deal with their dark policies regarding overdrafts, I was shocked. On Thanksgiving 2010, a delayed charge for some groceries and gas. I thought it was okay to charge because of using credit at the time of purchase, when I was getting paid the next day was fine. It wasn't so fine. My paycheck (direct deposit) went through and I still got overdrafted.
I called customer service and a routined-toned customer service rep with no care to what I had to say told me that because on the day of the charge I did not have the funds to cover the charge, that's why I was overdrafted. A few months passed, I walked into a branch and closed my account with Chase. I zeroed out my balance and the person who attended me, Chris, said, "Well, you know, you could have prevented those charges if you would have opted out for us to not cover those". As if he wanted to get the last say for me to be sorry for closing my account with them.
This upset me, not only did they indifferently and half-heatedly not want to help me, they also wanted me to feel bad for using their service. I went to another bank and I will never forget WaMu.

A few years ago, a friend tried to cash a check I had written him at TCF bank. They were going to charge him a check cashing fee because he did not have an account there. Fortunately, I was there and they made some arrangement so he was not charged and the check was cashed. I was surprised they had that policy and stopped doing business with them after a major issue that I reported to the banking regulating body that's in Texas, I think. I forgot that name. I thought TCF was disreputable and changed banks.
Recently, the same thing happened at Chase Bank. Once again, I was there also and Chase withdrew the funds from my account with my permission so my friend did not have to pay the $6 check cashing fee because he did not have an account there. But this time, I did not have the canceled check to prove I had paid him as the money was withdrawn to avoid the fee. I don't understand why banks are allowed to do this. It seems totally wrong for them to impose a fee on checks drawn on their bank.
The next issue is with Chase Bank. Last fall, I overdrew an account. I went in to solve the problem. The bank rep told me that I could avoid any overdraft fee if I would sign up for their credit card. Any overdrafts would just go on the card and I would then pay the card. I had no intention of ever using that card. I had only one credit card and cut the Chase card up when it arrived because I never planned to use it. I have always incurred no interest charges on my VISA regular credit card because I always pay in full every month. So, I was really shocked when this January, I received a credit card bill from Chase.
There were $48.92 in interest charges and $10 for each check that was overdrawn and transferred to the credit card. My mother died in December and I overdrew the account with all the turmoil and situations, but I did not know that until the credit card bill came on Jan. 20, 2011. I went to the local branch immediately to settle the account and cancel that credit card. Lucy, the bank rep helping me, called the credit card division to get current charges so the bill could be resolved right then. The $3,419.23 charges, interest and transfer fees amount she reported was paid right then and there and the card was canceled. She said that I would be getting a refund. I was not sure why but when the $20.31 check came, I was glad to get it.
Then, on Feb. 16, another credit card bill arrived for $16.09 so I called Lucy. She said that I had to pay it and transferred me to the credit card division for the explanation. Apparently, Chase added a "suggested" $20.31 amount to settle any more interest charges but I thought all interest charges had been accounted for on Jan. 21. Now, I owed $16.09. The credit card supervisor Jen said that I had requested the refund too soon. If I had waited until the next billing period, I would not have gotten the $20.31 credit and then owed $16.09--but would just have gotten a $4.22 credit. I did not remember being given that option and found the whole thing tricky as I had tried to fully settle the account and credit card problem on Jan. 21.
The supervisor then said that she would not charge me the $16.09 and I appreciated that very much. She said that since the credit card had been canceled, I would not get any more statements and did not owe anything more. I was glad of that but stupid me for signing up for that card in the first place. If I had overdrawn the account again, Chase would have notified me within a day or two and I would have owed an overdraft fee. But in signing up for their Slate card, I was not notified of the overdraft for over one month! And interest was accruing at "juice loan" rates plus "transfer fees."
I blame myself for not inquiring about the Slate card when it was offered but the bank rep never happened to mention anything other than it would avoid the overdraft fee! How stupid can I be to believe that? Well, I have eventually paid their price. What they did probably was perfectly legal but what an enormous omission of consequences. I don't think they should be allowed to get away with either of the above mentioned charges. They do nothing to inform the consumer. McDonald's has to post what they offer and what it costs--so why don't the banks obviously disclose and post their fees like the menu at McDonald's?

I'm a disabled combat vet from Operation Iraqi Freedom, and I'm having an issue with Chase Bank. I've been fighting for my VA disability for a couple of years now, and recently was approved. When I originally filed for my disability, I put down a Chase checking account number for direct deposit (so it was faster once approved to get my money) that I had jointly with my wife. Since then, the account was closed because it has a lien put on it for other matters by the bank. Once I was approved, the Federal Treasury sent a back-pay check for just over $10,000 to that bank account. Instead of being bounced back to the Treasury as it should have been, Chase re-opened the account. When I called about it to see what was going on the first time, I was told that the account was closed and that the direct deposit had been denied and sent back to the Treasury. When I called again, they told me that they had taken the check, taken the money that they thought was owed to them via the recovery department. And they told me that a check had been sent on the 8th. But they said that they would cut me a new check that day (the 9th) and mail it to my current address if I went to the branch to file an affidavit of indemnity.
I went to the branch to do so. I was told I did not need to file one and that they changed my information in the system. The lady at the bank even called the Recovery Department. She spoke with someone who told her that a check was on its way to me and gave me a check number. I believe they did not have the right to seize that check in the first place since VA disability money is exempt from any and all liens that may be present. However, on the phone I was told by someone at Chase that as a bank, they have every right to hold my money from me for any reason they see fit, regardless of who or where it came from. They also stated that they were not psychics or 'Mrs. **' and had no way of knowing where that deposit came from or what it was for. This is not true. Federal VA disability money is specifically marked as so and is exempt from liens according to US law.
I'm not as interested in getting the $95 back that they took from the check, rather getting Chase to give me the money that I am owed. They are refusing to do so in any kind of timely manner. I've also been told 4-5 different times that a check was in the mail to me. I was even given a check number. The customer service department specifically told me that it was mailed out on the 8th. The second time I was told it was mailed on the 9th. So, I've been anxiously awaiting its arrival in the mail (I am currently only able to sleep on the floor at a relative's house and allowed to receive mail there). Today, when I called and spoke to someone else, they said there is no check in the mail to me. And they said that I have to go to a branch (closest one happens to be over 40 miles from me) to fill out an affidavit of indemnity before they'll do 35-45 days of 'research' to see if I'm really who I say I am or not. That is before any money will be disbursed to me in the form of a check that I'll again have to wait for.
I'm currently homeless, so this check is a big deal to me. Having told this to Chase on the phone, they specifically told me that it was not their problem. I'm curious as to whether there is anything you may be able to do in order to help me out. As a veteran of our own US Army who was injured in the line of duty to this country, I believe I am being treated very unfairly by the people at Chase Bank. Veteran status seems to have no benefits when it comes to civilian life, even though I risked my life to defend theirs. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing back from you.

They gave me the money and receipt (at this time, I wanted to pull my money out because of the incident 20 minutes before) and walked out of the building.
They came and opened my car door as I was leaving. They wanted to count the money again. The funny thing was: When I got in there again, I was told to sit down and that was it. Nobody would speak to me nor did they ask to count my money. Then, they got a call from Kathy ** from the other branch. I stood up and left. That was when they chased me across the street, ran into my Wells Fargo bank and Madja ** (manager of Chase) screamed "Earl just robbed my bank" in front of 30 customers. I saw people dropping to the ground, people covering their heads, 2 guys jumped at me and slammed me to the ground.
Madja didn't want me to leave. She said I am not leaving unless Earl comes with me. So she grabbed me by the arm and walked me out. Then I took off again, she tugging on my shirt, I ran down the street for 2 miles as they chased me in a silver truck. I got caught by 4 police cars, handcuffed and the story was that she called in an assault; that I had assaulted her employees, fraud charges and robbed their bank which were all false. Kathy **, Madja and Chase Corp. in Chino & Prescott did this to me. And my record is clean. Then that night, I got a threatening personal cellphone calls from bankers of Chase instructing me to return the money. Police reports in Prescott, AZ and filed lawsuit documents at courthouse. This dispute pertains to Washington Mutual, JPMorgan Chase Bank and any affiliates:
I have been in search for help with my loan modification. Actually, I was making my payment on time when in 2009 Washington Mutual/Chase Bank began to raise my mortgage when it was premature to my original agreement. Then I fell a bit behind. I was working with underwriters on many occasions and I was informed on many occasions that my loan was going through. Then with no warning or answers to my legitimate questions, I was put on a roller coaster in a run around loop.
On many occasions I had written multiple letters (over 20 letters) to enquire about my loan, re-modification, and misrepresented tax form 1098 by them, which I now once again just received from Chase Bank and I feel they are not being forthwith pertaining to the numbers. Now once again, I am trying to get them to audit my file with a quick response because my taxes are due again and if I don't have the numbers correct, I may be fined by the IRS.
I also have certain rights which qualify me for protection and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (herein-after, ADAAA). Although the original Act was passed in 1990, a relatively few decisions under Title II of the original Act or the recently passed ADAAA relate to accommodations in the courts and other entities. Supplicant suffers from what his medical and psychological evaluators have termed traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stressed disorder among other somatic problems.
I have requested assistance from Chase bank's ADA advocate because I have disabilities that constitutes me receiving an ADAAA advocate. Chase Bank never responds to my inquiries. After all of the horrific games I hired an non-legal Advocate to assist me in my efforts and the advocate has been working with Chase Bank and informing me as to the facts that Chase Bank has everything they needed and they are not asking for anything else, however, they do not respond to my ADA, tax, and other issues and still I am without my re-modification. I need Chase Bank to furnish what I asked for especially pertaining to my 2009 taxes and now once again 2010 taxes.
Chase Bank denies me these rights and now they are continuing to play more runaround games that I believe are unnecessary. I have shown on many occasions that I am eligible for the Obama plan and Chase Bank representatives also expressed that I do qualify. At the least I need my correct accounting for all of my monies paid to Washington Mutual Mortgage, JPMorgan Chase Bank in order for me to file my current 2010 taxes which are due. As far as the re-modification, I don't know what to do?
Without the audit, I will not be able to file my taxes and eventually I am certain the IRS will fine me. I even sent money as a good faith negotiation for my outstanding balance to clear it up and start over, which they accepted my check by cashing my funds and all correspondences and after they received my checks I have heard very little.
I have been sending Chase bank at the least $1,500.00 every month for over one year plus and I believe November 2010, I sent another good faith check in the amount of $1,500.00 and they sent it back with no response. I once again mailed it back and I have heard nothing since. Although each month I continue to make good faith efforts by sending them $1,500.00, I have not heard anything saying otherwise from them as to anything concerning my taxes, loan, or other requests. What can a disabled patron do to receive fairness in these matters?

The receipt showed that available balance is $101.29. I withdrew $100. On sat, I check the available balance and it’s $401.29. I transferred $300 to my savings. Then I remember that I need to pay some bills. I transferred back to checking $200. On sun I check the balance and it shows $300+. I paid 2 bills, for $40 & $58 online.
On Monday, I’m surprise that I receive a message saying that I have insufficient funds. Then Tuesday when I check the account activity, I was charged with 3 insufficient funds ($34 each) and my balance is negative. Now, I don’t have money to pay my other bills and when I , they said that sometimes it took up to 12 days before they clear a check which is not stated on the receipt in the first place. I believe this is a total consumer fraud that chase bank is doing. I may not be alone. And if they keep doing this they are stealing a lot of money to the people.

I opened my account on November 4, 2005 and was told that there would be no fees if I kept a five hundred dollar total balance and agreed to an automatic transfer of twenty five dollars from my checking account to my savings account each month. On my first statement I noticed a fee of seven dollars which was refunded to me because I met the balance requirement. After that I kept getting charged the seven dollar fee every month even when I had met the balance requirement. My monthly statements stated that this was a "Service Charge". As time passed I noticed the service charge had changed on my statement to "Monthly Package Fee.” I made multiple inquires about the "Service Charge" and the "Monthly Package Fee" and was told numerous times by telephone bankers, personal bankers in the branch, branch managers, and assistant branch managers that this was just a regular monthly service charge for maintaining the account, which was not true but I needed my account open to cash my checks.
I was told that this seven dollar charge was actually being paid to a separate company, Affinion, which was set up initially by one of the personal bankers in the Brooklyn Chase Branch, on 75th St and 5th Ave, when I had first opened the account. I immediately canceled it. I was not told, and did not agree, to this package for monthly benefits. I also never received any of the benefits which consisted of Shopping Discounts, Prescription Drug Program, Accidental Death Insurance, Vision Plan, etc. When I contacted Affinion about these benefits, they told me that I was never enrolled with them and do not exist in their system. I voiced my concerns numerous times to the Chase branch manager, Antonella **, but all she kept telling me was that she was unable to obtain the paperwork for the account. I feel I was treated unfairly and was poorly misinformed.

My problem involves a series of online transactions during January 2011. My simple objective was to transfer $49,000 from my Chase savings account to an account at another bank that was already set up as an external account with Chase. Upon attempting to make the transfer via the web at chase.com, I was stopped and informed that the maximum transfer amount was $10,000. Frustrated that I would be forced to execute 5 transactions I proceeded. At the 3rd transaction I was informed that there was an additional limit of $25,000 of transfers per business day.
I transferred the $25,000 maximum and returned to chase.com the following day to transfer the final $24,000 in 3 more transactions. The following day I logged into my account at chase.com and discovered that a $12 service limit fee had been deducted because I had executed more than 6 pre-authorized transactions within a business month. Prior to the 6 transactions described here, I had done an internal Chase transfer so I had executed 7 transactions in all.
The $12 is a small amount, but it's the fact that Chase first forced me to execute 6 transactions and then levied a fee against me for doing so! In my email exchanges with Chase they cited applicable federal laws that justify the transfer amount and transaction limits on my account. It's not just the technical legality of the service fee, but also the fact that Chase could and, I believe, should have informed me prior to the last transaction that I was about to incur a fee.

I am currently 50 days past due. I have spoken to several of Chase Finance collection reps every day since 1/27/2011. They have me on auto dial and are calling every 15 minutes after I have spoke to a rep. After speaking with two reps on 1/9/2011, today, a rep by the name of Josh is calling my friends and family. I am not even 30 days past due. This is nothing short of a harassment tactic. I've called and spoken to a manager about this guy Josh who has called me before and hung up. He is now calling my family and friends. I got nowhere in reporting this incident to a manager.
If anything, it has gotten worse since speaking to a manager. The manager kept saying that they are trying to collect a debt. I know that I owe this debt and have told them repeatedly that I will pay on the 15th of November. How can I stop this? At what point is it no longer trying to collect a less than 30-day old debt, but harassment? I believe that when I spoke to the manager, things have gotten worse. I have submitted two complaints with the FTC because I'm sure that I am not the only one who is experiencing this torture.

Just as your bank, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, admitted (prior to having another class action suit) to having committed errors concerning overcharges of interest and foreclosure actions to Active Duty Military personnel that were your customers, I need redress for your bank errors against me. I saved your bank on a 2005 foreclosed and bankruptcy involved property--almost four years after your bank had full possession. Your bank did nothing with the property. The house was empty for over four years. Your bank even failed to take it out of my name; thus, eliminating having to pay property taxes on the house. Your bank failed to have any insurance on the property.
I discovered that the property was in my name, four years after the foreclosure and my bankruptcy, so I made an offer to purchase the vacant. During the time your bank had possession, your bank did nothing to protect your repossessed brick house. Despite your bank's numerous attempts to obtain a real estate appraisal that would establish any value, it was determined to be practically worth less than the value of the land, due to damage and neglect by your bank (and wold have to be demolished to obtain that value). I offered to purchase the property for a long time negotiated amount of $31,212.34. This was accomplished on June 22, 2007.
This was not a settlement of loans or forgiveness of loans. This property was foreclosed in 2005, and was owned by J.P. Morgan Chase Bank (formerly BankONE) which is your bank. The previous owner (me) had presented the property in bankruptcy and your bank had undisputed possession and total ownership. Then, after this purchase transaction, your bank committed an error and sent 1099-C documents showing the bankruptcy charged-off loans of $36,359.00 and $16,920.00 as "income" to me. This was totally wrong and I told your bank that they had made the error.

I have been a regular banking customer at Chase for over 20 years. After my mother's death in 2007, I inherited money from the liquidation of her estate and I put that money ($220,000.00) in my Chase savings account. During 2009, I started receiving phone calls and messages from Latrice *** at Chase. She wanted to talk to me about how I could get better interest on my money.
I put her off for about a year because I didn't want to think about money. Finally, in October 2010, I agreed to let her transfer my money into an account that would "earn more interest." I wrongly assumed (because she had access to my private financial information, that she was serving as my financial advocate. She never mentioned the possibility of risk and didn't explain to me that my money was no longer protected in any way.
On October 25, she and her manager (Ernest ***) signed me up for a mutual finds account and advised me to transfer all of my savings into this new account. Within the first week, the account had lost $800. I panicked, called Ernest *** to express my worry. He claimed that everything was fine and that I needed to wait until the end of the month to receive the dividends that would be paid out later. When I next checked the account again, it had lost $3000. I called Ernest *** again and expressed dismay. He informed that there was "volatility" in the market and that I shouldn't panic as it would adjust. I expressed great discomfort at that time. He reassured me. Then the account dropped $5000.
I called him and expressed more dismay. Finally, when the account dropped $9000, I demanded that he remove my money from the account. Although I did sign the papers that Latrice *** and Ernest *** gave me from Chase, I do feel that this is an example of predatory lending because I *never* solicited any services from them. They pursued me and used their access to my records to get access to me. I feel that they took advantage of my ignorance.
From the very first phone call, it was clear to Ernest *** that I had not understood the nature of the account that they had signed me up for, and that I was not comfortable with it. I feel that he had a professional responsibility to make sure that he was acting in my best interests as he had been serving as my (unsought) financial adviser. I believe that Chase allowed their officers to behave in a way that was predatory and that constituted an abuse of their access to my private records.

They have been trying to negotiate with them for the past four months with no resolution. I kept one of the Chase credit cards which I am making the payment every month. I pay $80.00 over the monthly payment. On 12-11-10, I tried to use the credit card for a $52.00 purchase and it was declined. I currently have $526.00 available credits on this card and it was declined.
Let me also mention that they call my house everyday at least 9 times a day without leaving any messages. They are refusing to negotiate any type of reduction on the debt I owe. I feel they suspended my credit card because of this. I don't feel this is fair especially when I have continued to pay this bill timely and also pay $100.00 a month when the monthly payment is only $21.00. With all of the money that Chase made when President Obama helped the banks, this is unfair. I just feel that as a consumer you need to know what these banks are doing especially to seniors in this country. They also have threatened me with suit but it is not like I am not trying to pay them, they will not negotiate. Bank of America negotiated and Madison and Associates have already paid off one of my bills.

Actually this applies to not only Chase, but also to Discover and Bank of America - and therefore presumably to most banks that issue credit cards. My guess is that this problem happens rarely enough that it was overlooked by the Credit Card Reform Act, but I don't really know. What happened was that I had 3 credit cards paid off and closed by a lender. For some reason they used a balance that was several months old resulting in a several hundred dollar overpayment on each of the cards. After waiting over 6 weeks for a refund, I finally contacted the banks.
Each of them confirmed that my account was closed and that I had a credit balance. Yet, each of them required that I contact them to request a refund of that balance. It’s unbelievable. If the account is closed, why would I want to leave a credit with them? The people I talked to understood this, but obviously the executives responsible for this policy don't. I think we need another Credit Card Reform Act.

I tried to pay my electric bill over the phone with my Chase debit card one day and got declined. I knew there was plenty of money in my account as my husband’s direct deposit went in that morning. I called my branch to find out what the problem was, but no one could tell me. I was told to call the 800 number on the back of my card. I called the 800 number and after several minutes, I was told there was an item they were researching. At this time I was ok with it as I knew they wouldn't find anything wrong. How naïve, I was. What really happened was they closed my account because they said there was some kind of fraud going on in my account.
My husband and I went to my branch to find out what was going on. It took them at least 10 minuets to finally find out what they thought was the problem. My daughter owed me $500 and wrote me a check (she banks at TCF). I asked her if she would please deposit it for me. Since it was after banking hours, I gave her my debit card to deposit the check in the ATM. This was the first time ever that I made a deposit using the bank’s ATM. For whatever reason, I still don't know my bank flagged this check and closed my account. There was never anything wrong with the check, TCF bank honored the check, never took back the $500 dollars.
In short, the money never ever left my account once the check was deposited (funds were available in my daughter’s TCF account). Yet they closed my account, refused to release any funds to me, even though my husband’s check had been auto deposited! And they couldn't give us any good reason why. Plus, I was never ever notified they were researching anything about our account.
After nothing panned out about their so-called fraud on our account, they still wouldn't release the hold on our account. So instead of saying they closed our account due to fraud, they said they were keeping it closed due to too many NSF's on our account! This is not true, I saw the information on their computer screen at the bank and all that was noted on our account pertained to that $500 deposit! It's now been over one month and they still continue to hold on to the $200 in our account! They say in case any items come in, which makes no sense since if any items do come in, they wouldn't pay them anyway!

I contacted Experian and obtained my credit report, which showed 100% positive remarks with all accounts in good standing. I have a 752 credit score.
I then contacted Chase to inquire as to why I was denied. I was told the decision was based on two "charged off" accounts I had with Chase over 12 years ago, which I had included in a bankruptcy. I informed Chase it had been more than 10 years and the bankruptcy had been removed from my credit report; at which time, I was told the "charge off" would remain on Chase's records indefinitely regardless of what the credit bureau(s) may report. In short, I was told that unless Chase decides to change their rules for deciding credit worthiness, my Chase cards which were charged off would be used against me regardless if they were filed under bankruptcy are no longer being reported through the credit bureaus.
My complaint is that Chase sent me a letter stating my application was denied based "in whole or in part" on information obtained from Experian. This proved to be a false statement unless Experian is providing banks with different reports than what it provides consumers.

My husband and I keep separate bank accounts and he had recently opened an account with Chase, thinking it would be closer for him to deposit checks than the credit union he used prior. He had his account with Chase for about a year and since we both work, we had not had a chance to go into a branch together to add my name to the account.
My car recently broke down and needed a new transmission. My husband agreed to pay for part of this cost, and the car repair shop would only accept cash or credit card, not checks. So my husband wrote me a check from his Chase account. I went there with his check, which is a negotiable instrument and a demand to pay, and they refused to honor it. They admitted that he had sufficient funds but unless I opened up a new account with a 7 month minimum and a $6/month fee, then I could not have the money.
So I could only have the money at the cost of $42! I finally demanded that there has to be another way to figure this out. They claimed that there was no way for him to initiate a wire over the phone, even though I am an accountant and we initiate phone wires over the phone daily! They also said they would call my husband to vouch for the check and I'm unsure why they bothered because afterwards they still refused to cash it. It was so crazy! On top of it all, they treated me as if I was some sort of disgruntled wife trying to rip off my husband even though they had just spoken to my husband and it was obvious that was not the case. It was extremely insulting and we are both furious and disgusted! We have filed a formal complaint and will ultimately be closing the one account we have with Chase.
Bottom line is that not honoring a check written by a customer where they can clearly see the funds are available is against the law and this is a very unethical company. I hope thy end up in the trash!

I told her to go down and cash them, there was plenty of money to get hers "now". She did so, dealt with a guy named Byron. He started to hand her the cash and she stated, "hey wait a minute, there is $$ missing". He said, "no, there's a check cashing fee of $6.00 per check". She said, "well, give me the checks back" (he didn't tell her in advance of the charge). He indicated that he couldn't because they were already scanned into the system! She left and guess who had to make up the $6 fee? Yes, me!
So a $125 cost me $137.00! But my husband can take his payroll checks right to Puma bank or Tri-counties and though you cannot go through the drive-thru and you have to be finger-printed, they don't charge a dime for their checks. So in this great decision that Chase bank/mortgage has decided to do, it doesn't take money from the individual that doesn't have the account, it takes money from their members because you're still going to owe that individual the exact money, not $6 short of it! The first call comes around at 8:15 am, the second at 11:00, then again at 3:30, with the last around 6 to 8 pm. They call even on Sunday. The people on the phone are always different.
I could understand if I was over 30 days late, but I'm not. Why should they care when my payment is made as long as they receive their late fee with it before the end of the month?

I secured a mortgage from Washington Mutual Home Loans in May, 2005. Shortly afterwards, I obtained a credit card through that bank. In September, 2005, I became ill and had to go on disability. Consequently, I filed bankruptcy in January, 2008 and it was discharged on April 29, 2008. In the latter part of 2007 Washington Mutual tried to sue me. I obtained continuances twice because I was planning to file bankruptcy. However, Chase is reporting this payment as a late one on my credit report and they are using date from 2006. I've tried to dispute this with the credit bureaus. But Chase asserts that the information is correct.
How could Chase claim to own this debt in 2006 when Washington Mutual was suing me in 2007 and they were not taken over by the government and then Chase until September 2008. My bankruptcy would have been discharged for five months at that time. I called Chase to dispute this account. A representative said she would contact the credit bureaus. But she also tried to transfer me to a collection agency by the name of Arrow Financial. Washington Mutual was listed on my bankruptcy at least five times for this account with at least five different addresses. And the debt was discharged. Since this debt was discharged in Chapter 7 Bankruptcy months before Chase acquired Washington Mutual, I cannot see how they would have the right to report anything to the credit bureaus. And they are reporting it as closed and transferred and as delinquent.
I think that they might be violating the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy laws. But, before I can say that, I need to find out when they acquired that account. If they required it after the bankruptcy was discharged, I don't think they should be able to report it to the credit bureaus.

Now I had to call to ask about another situation and was treated as if I were not only stupid but being a bother.
As far as I know, unless something has changed, the customer is the reason these people have jobs so why make them feel intimidated to call with concerns? I work in the public as well and would not expect to keep my position if I acted so superior to people who are just trying to get information. I'm so fed up. This is just not acceptable to me.

The home that my ex-husband and I owned has been defaulted on for 32 months. In April of 2010, JP Morgan Chase made a loan modification agreement with my ex-husband. My ex-husband was awarded the home in our divorce in October of 2009. My name was still on the loan. I was told to do a quick claim deed to remove myself from the new loan. I did as I was told. I sent them the papers. They sent my ex-husband a new agreement in only his name. He singed and returned it. I called a while later and was told that in order to have my name removed I would have to file for an assumption. I received the assumption packet, filled it out and sent it back.
I have called every 2 weeks for the last 6 months only to get a different answer every time. On November 9 2010, I was contacted by Chase. They wanted me to reinstate the loan to the amount of $17,000.00. I ask them to look in to the file to see if they could give me an answer as to what had happened to the loan modification. He informed me that they had received both the modification and the assumption and that they had been accepted, but that Chase was supposed to counter sign and had failed to do so. They could not give a reason as to why they had not countersigned the loan modification. This resulted in my name never being removed from the loan. This is the not the first time. We have made multiple times trying to get a handle on this since the home was defaulted on in 2008.

I had a traumatic situation that happened with a Chase bank safe deposit box approximately 2 years ago. I went to close out my box and retrieve my very expensive jewelry that had great sentimental value to me. I obtained the box initially because I was going through a very difficult time with a divorce that came shortly after I lost my daughter. I was in the process of selling my home and moving and didn't want anything to happen to the jewelry. My ex-husband had bought me some of it when my daughter was actually born. That is why it meant the world to me.
I went to the bank two years ago to close out the box and retrieve the valuable pieces as I was settled in a new home. I got there and the jewelry was missing. The bank manager tried to calm me down and reassure me that there is no way it could be missing on their end and I probably took it out and forgot. I left devastated and tore my home apart looking for it. I accused my ex-husband, my boyfriend at the time. It hurt a few of my relationships. I fired my cleaning lady. The bank continued to insist that there was no way anyone could have gotten into my box because you could only open the box with their key and my key. The manager said the only way it could happen is if there was a master key and there is none.
The bank notified me recently after 2 years that they found my jewelry and they refused to state what had occurred over the two-year period and why the jewelry was lost, stolen or misplaced or how it was returned. They then demanded me to sign a release waiving any damages which of course I could not do since I had damages which must be compensated for. In addition, they advised me that they placed the four items of jewelry in a plastic bag, sealed it up with a marking of a number **** and placed it in the bank's safe.
They also threatened me to the point that if I didn't sign the release, that after six months, my jewelry would be deemed unclaimed and sent to the state as a lost item! I hired a lawyer because they told me not to go back to my insurance company that already paid a stipend on the claim which is fraud. Of course, I did tell the insurance company the truth. I am appalled by the way Chase has handled this situation and expects them to compensate my damages. I will explain further when we speak.

I spoke to a Michelle who got very rude and wouldn't give me her employee number for a reference of her rudeness.
She put me on hold for what seemed at least 30 minutes. I hung up and called again. I got a nicer representative and she transferred me to a dispute supervisor. She told me the charges were from a submission of a loan and since all my information was correct, they decided to make the charge legit and not do any more investigating. When I asked if it could be further investigated, she said no and when I said if they could try and track the IP address in which that submission came from, she said no. I decided to freeze my account and will pay the $40 that my account is withdrawn for because of these charges and want nothing to do with Chase. Chase had made a second 50% cut in my credit limit within the last two years. The most recent was today. I always pay on time and never have excessive spending. The cut in spending limit does not bother me, but it bothers my credit score. I don't need a 10,000, 20,000 or 100,000 limit. But fico scores are dependent on many factors, and the one that weighs in heavy is the ratio between balance and limit. I was told that the cut in my limit was due to the fact that my wife opened a 0% CC and transferred a balance from another CC.
I, being an authorized signer was automatically punished because we made the right move to transfer a balance from higher interest account to one with 0%. Am I being unreasonable? The rep at chase told me "Oh, so you transfer debt like that, do you have a plan to pay it off? I was very upset at this point and decided to pay in full and close the account. I had been a Chase customer for over 15 years. I had never missed a payment or even been late with a payment in all the time I had been with them. Often, I would pay the balance in full but I carried a balance from time to time as well. Then, without notice, I went to use my card for a small purchase and the charge was declined. Upon investigation, I discovered, like so many others, that my card had been closed.: Why?," I asked. Apparently there need not be an explanation. Fortunately, I have a number of other cards with sufficient credit limits.
I have had conversations repeatedly with customer "no service" with this company as well as numerous e-mail correspondence. Of course there is no resolution or satisfaction. Only the same old story that "We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused." I was more concerned about the damage to my credit score than the loss of the card. This is a despicable company with despicable practices and I was very pleased to pay the balance on the card, which was insignificant, so that they could no longer use my account as a profit center.

I have had a checking account since way before WAMU was bought out by Chase so we have a long history or no overdrafts, no bad deposits, etc. Went to the branch 11/3 to deposit my payroll and withdraw $1100 cash.
My check is way over that amount, so there would have been plenty of money. I didn't have another deposit slip so this "long haired redheaded teller" says Oh, I have a deposit slip, she starts to fill it out, and I say I can do that if you don't mind. So I take care of the slip and she says, do you have your debit card, you won't be able to do this transaction without it. I said of course I do and handed it to her.
I am waiting for her to brand the check and give me the cash back I wanted, and she says I can't give you all that you want. By now, I am irritated and she asks for my pin number and I said you swiped the card? She says yes, and I said I can do that too if you don't mind, I am not incompetent! I questioned why she couldn't give me the cash I wanted, and there was a balance already in the account, and that was all she would be willing to give me. I pointed out how long I have been a customer and that I wanted to see a manager.
After some more argument, she gets the manager, who is new and I have never seen him before. He will not look me in the eye and is avoiding my face, and after listening to his excuse I tell him to give me the check I will go elsewhere and he holds onto the check and the deposit slip. I tell him directly to give me the check and the deposit slip before I blow my cork.
He reluctantly gives me both pieces and I tear up the deposit slip and deposit it towards the red headed teller who is still standing there defiantly looking at me. I left, went to another bank where I have an account, cashed the whole check and got the cash I wanted. This was so rude. The employees were rude and just totally obnoxious. If this is the new Chase, I will close my account. Then I find that one of my employees has had the same difficult time at the same branch. Too much rude behavior, we are going to another Bank.

First of all, I was sent a letter 7 years ago telling me that I would receive a $50.00 savings bond, free, except that I would be billed $16.99 a month for a travel service starting 60 days later unless I canceled.
I never heard a thing from anyone again, but the fee was mixed in with my Chase Mortgage payment for all those years. When I looked at my bill closely, I noticed it, (looking at my bill as now, every penny counts). Chase on the phone denied they had any affiliation with the company, which supposedly supplied some sort of travel service that I never heard of. They replaced some of my money, (6 months) but told me that was it. When are banks in this scam business?
Also, I just noticed, they send me mortgage bills 3 months in advance of when they are due. How many people send them the payments w/o knowing they don't owe them the money yet, but are paying the interest through that date.
They also took money out of my checking account $2,300.00 in order to pay a business loan I had with them. They really suck and should be in jail.

My complaint is that, with Chase business checking accounts, they only hold the account transactions for 30 days in their computers. If you don't download them into Quicken or Quickbooks by then, tough, you get to enter all the transactions by hand.
I have to hire someone to enter all the transactions for four months. Just imagine if I had a computer failure and lost all my Quicken data. I would have to enter a year of transactions by hand. This is one indication of how little Chase things through its business services and how little concern is given the customer's needs.
Do not use a Chase business account if you want your records protected in case of mishap!

We were Washington Mutual Bank clients before Chase took them over. We had a checking, savings and a personal line of credit. We stayed with Chase after the takeover but then decided to move our accounts to another local bank. We did not move the personal line of credit account, as the balance was too much for us to pay off at the time. We did however continue making our payments on time, every month. We started to notice that Chase was reporting our account delinquent on our credit report about 8 months ago. The local Chase representatives told us it was just a problem in the WAMU to Chase account transition and said it would be taken care of.
This month, 10-18-10 upon checking our credit report again, we found that the account had been written off as a bad debt. We immediately went to our Chase branch and talked to them. We were told, (1) that the account had been sold to another company because we did not have an active checking or savings with Chase (we were never informed of this). (2) The payments we had been making to Chase since the transition were being forwarded on to the new account holder. During this whole time, Chase had been reporting the account delinquent to the credit bureaus. This is not right.

The HAMP program with with JP Morgan Chase bank was a complete failure. What a waste of my time for 17 months. We just had to give them $5,000.00 this week to get our mortgage current. I still don't know why the Making Homes Affordable plan is even up for discussion. Homeowners apply for this and get themselves into foreclosure predicaments and heavy department. It's not the consumers fault. The bank just isn't cooperating into making permanent modifications. So, all in all, my husband and I are right where we started from. I give up, I surrender! I have made seven trial payments because it was approved for a trial modification. I don't think that I want to do that anymore because now, we received a certified letter stating that we owe $5,000.00. What is that? That wasn't in the plan!
I did my homework ahead of time. I know what should have occurred after that. Why didn't Chase? Hello! Insufficient income, cannot use unemployment as income all of a sudden, missing docs? No. It expires every six months. What? Freddie Mac loan, they should help, but they don't have to help. I have gone crazy here, and I have all of the paperwork that I faxed them. Oh, did I say 18 months? But I should hear something this week! This is the short version. Believe me. I have all of my docs that I have faxed. I have the names. Does it really matter? On, October 1, 2010, I received a text that I was overdrawn. I immediately called Chase to report the withdrawal as fraud. They asked me if I had reported my wallet stolen and I said no. I have not lost my driver's license and I have no idea how my identity was stolen. On October 2, 2010, I called the claims department and they told me they were denying my claim because: 1.) an ID was used; and 2.) the signature was a match.
They were accusatory and insisted that there was nothing they could do because the signature looked just like the signature on my checks. The signature is a forgery and it looks similar but it is not a match. I had a vacation scheduled from October 3 to October 16. Today, October 18th, I spoke to a claims supervisor who was also accusatory and said their investigators thought the signature was a match. I already filed a police report and I am waiting to hear from the detectives. I am extremely disappointed with the way the Chase claims department treats its customers. I then proceeded to explain to the employee that this should not have been so since I signed a paper restricting funds to be taken from my checking account by me or anyone on 2/22/10. When they found that I was correct, Sharon stated "Hmm, I wonder how that happened". Somehow these bills were double paid and knew off the wall check numbers used to duplicate 6 payments again. Due to a family emergency, we were out of time for the next 3 days funeral. Upon return, I once again went into my account to pay my next cycle of bills and discovered that these checks had been double paid. Upon calling the bank on Sunday, I was basically told there was nothing that they could do about this error and they said it was our fault it had happened.
When we printed our confirmation, this was not done and I want the money put back in my account now. The bank said I would have to get hold of each and every merchant asking for the money to be refunded and however, long it took or if they would do it at all. When is the bank responsible for their own ** ? Now I am left with $1500.00 worth of checks out, not $730.

I wanted to convert 5/1 ARM to 30% Fixed Rate Mortgage from WaMu Mortgage Co. I gave $750.00 for application knowing that if I withdrew, I could forfeit all money. Chase had all the information they needed from WaMu Mortgage, yet they kept asking unnecessary information stretched out over several weeks each week, a little at a time, wasting my time, etc. I was embarrassed and humiliated to a point where I told them to cancel my request.

Three items were presented for payment from my account on a day when there was not enough money to cover all of them. The bank paid the highest item first even though there was enough to pay the smaller items available. I fled a written complaint with Chevy Chase through the online system. I refused to make up the difference because I found it no where in their written policy that they would pay overdrafts from largest to smallest amounts. Of course during the time that this dispute was going back and forth other things came in, which they charged me more overdrafts for. I finally just left the account alone until they closed it.
I went in to see the branch manager before that happened and was told that they would just close the account. She told me at that time that they could not touch our other account to collect on this account while I was waiting for the dispute process.
Since Capitol One has taken over, I have heard from no one about my complaint. Last evening I went to pay for my dinner and could not get approval for my card when I knew there were funds available. When we called Capitol One, we were told that they had frozen my husbands account to collect the amount outstanding on my account. This has left us financially without and funds available to pay anything including daily living expenses. This practice is a sham to consumers who have no recourse but to have a bank account and be at the mercy of banking policies that are not in writing anywhere. I have received calls from a collection agent for the bank and did offer to pay the amount that was my responsibility minus the overdrafts that occurred because of the banks practices. That offer was refused. It is extremely impossible to exist without a bank account and knowing this the banks have taken liberty to take whatever money they deem right and freeze funds without warning so that you have no opportunity to prepare yourself financially.

I set up a traditional IRA account with this bank from my 401K plan. Rollover. They received my check for the account signed for it. One of their employees put it into the wrong account, my checking account. I was unaware of this transaction and was not informed at all. I am unemployed due to no fault of my own. I receive direct deposits from unemployment benefits. Through my checking, I pay for bills. I believe they are responsible for my loss. I believe they should have to reimburse me. I do, periodically, check my account. I believe mishandling of my money created this mess.

Nobody in the bank can explain why this happened. The bills were paid on time. I talked to many different people and all they say is that "we are not in compliance." Can someone help us get answers to this?

On Saturday, 09-04-2010, I received a retirement check in the mail from ADP Retirement Services in the amount of $22,122.72. On Tuesday, 09-07-2010, I took the check into the Chase Bank branch on Park Blvd in Plano, TX to open an account and obtain cashier's checks as well as additional cash to purchase a car from Frank Parra/Q Chevrolet in Irving, TX.
After sitting in the bank branch on Park for an hour and a half and going through all of the motions of completing and signing forms to open an account, manager on duty Sunny comes over to inform me that there was not enough cash on hand to cash the check. After explaining that he only had enough cash on reserve to service the businesses that rely on the branch for early morning operation, I asked if he would call the branch on North MacArthur in Irving, TX near the dealership where I was purchasing the car to see if they had the funds on hand.
He placed a call to the branch and explained the situation and manager Valerie advised that they had funds on hand and could cash the check if we came over right then. In the meantime, the clerk that was on loan from another branch who had been assisting in opening my account informed me that her new accounts division had rejected my account due to a Trans Union report and that I needed to contact them for an explanation and that they would be canceling my account.
At that time, I asked them to just give me the check back. After some back and forth, the check was returned and I was told that I could just go to the North MacArthur branch and they would cash the check when I was originally told that I needed to open an account to be able to get it cashed. I drove across town to the North Macarthur branch in Irving, TX and explained why I was there.
Personal banker took more than 45 minutes to "verify" the check before he came back and advised that he was unable to verify the funds and that even his fraud division tried to verify the funds and couldn't verify the funds that were written on a Chase Bank account held by ADP Retirement Services. I asked to speak to the manager and Valerie came over and advised that she was the one who spoke with Sunny and that she never advised that she would cash the check.
She stated that all she advised was that they had funds on hand. Valerie stated that they were unable to verify the funds availability or the check from ADP Retirement Services and would not be able to cash it. She did advise that I could try to open an account and they would "hold" the funds for 7-10 days. This didn't make sense to me because it was written on a Chase Bank account and they were not able to go into their own system and verify funds on one of their own accounts.
Manager Valerie was very insensitive and rude and when I advised that I had ADP on the phone by calling the number on the check and that they wanted to speak with her and could make the verification that she needed, she explained that she didn't want to speak with them and didn't need to because she had her own number for ADP and it wasn't the number that was on the check.
However, the number that she had was not to ADP Retirement Services. She advised that I could come back on Wednesday, 09-08-2010, and try again to cash the check and maybe they would be able to verify funds at that time. At that time, I had spent almost four hours trying to cash a check written on a Chase Bank account at a Chase Bank branch. The manager Valerie advised that it was written on a "holding" account that she had no access to and could only verify the account as active, but not the funds available in the account.
So my question was as follows: why tell me to come back the next day? What was going to be different on the next day other than fact that Chase Bank continued to earn interest on the those funds that they would not release to me? I am extremely disappointed that I wasted a whole day trying to deal with what was supposed to be a reputable bank but ended up having to spend $1028.70 to cash the check at PLS Check Cashing in Irving, TX.
I want those funds returned by either Chase Bank or ADP Retirement Services because Chase banking practices are deceptive as well as ADP Retirement Services. After personally telling me on the phone that they (ADP) could verify the check for Chase, the rep did advise that it was "for deposit only".How are you going to write a check on funds that you owe to me and "require" that I deposit those funds and earn interest for you and your bank instead of just cashing the check at your bank and getting my money?

Finally, calling the 800 number, I had a a nice experienced and professional girl answer my question. I think she said her name is Erica. I love giving kudos to all that deserve and no kudos for those that could care less. Anyway, I was not happy with George with his flippant remarks.

My bank, Washington Mutual, was taken over by Chase. I had a personal account and a small business account for my second business (a small music production company). The business account usually carried a very low balance. Back in May 2010, I made a mistake by forgetting to log a check. I was aware of the error and transferred money from my personal account to cover this, but not soon enough. The money didn't "officially" get credited to my account until the day after it was deposited. The problem was further complicated by the fact that there was an overdraft charge of $34 which I wasn't aware of.
Subsequently, there were two charges, $0.99 each, for two iTune downloads. Chase charged me $34 for each of these small charges. I had over $100 in overdraft charges. I then called the Customer Service center to try to get the charges reversed for the iTunes charges and they would not budge. They suggested that I go to my branch. When I went into the branch, they insisted they could not reverse them, so I asked them to not provide overdraft coverage anymore, to just return any charges as unpaid for insufficient funds.
In July, there was an erroneous charge by Amazon to my account in the amount of $70. This resulted in a small overdraft as there was a little over $30 in the account. Amazon reversed the charge the next day, but not before Chase had charged me $34 for the overdraft. The next day, there was a charge from Netflix for $9.99, and because of the overdraft charge, there were not enough funds, so Chase charged me an additional $34. I went to my branch again, and this time, I was told that because it was a business account, they couldn't disable the overdraft coverage. And although the Amazon charge had been reversed, Amazon was responsible for reimbursing me for the $34 charge Chase had charged.
After contacting Amazon, I called the service center wanting to close the account and I was told that they would put through a reversal of the charges and then if I still wanted to close the account, I could close it. During that period of time, my 101-year old father became ill and I never called them back. However, I kept checking the account and noticed that they still hadn't reversed the charges. My father died ten days ago and I finally got back to check on what had happened.
Apparently, they had taken the balance of their overdraft charges out of my personal account and had closed the business account. It seems that the day after their service representative tried to get the charges removed, someone had denied the reversal stating it was "against bank policy." On top of this, I no longer have online access to the statements and check images for this account, and if I want them, I have to pay a fee. How can these people be allowed to behave in this manner?

I applied and was turned down for a non owner loan after them losing my paperwork 3 or 4 times, updating information. The investor didn't want to do it. The loan was originally with WaMu then sold to Chase. I paid a company to do it the first time.
After the nightmare 1-1/2 years bout, I called in to short sale it, they told me not to, that they have changed. Like a dummy, I tried it again. Seven months later, they just informed me over the phone I have been turned down because my 4506T form was missing the transcript number form on line 6. I had called several times and told my package was complete.
One time I talked to a very rude person who looked over my package and brought that up that line 6 wasn't filled out (as if they were trying disqualify me) but they didn't catch it. I asked do I need to fill one out again and he said no. The other reason they said was my ratios, B of A has approved me and Citi has, same ratios.
They said they are sending a letter and I can dispute it, which I will and also had the lady on the phone do that. This loan is a 80/20 loan, negative and with no cap. The worst loan in the business. I was just trying to get the rate lowered! I feel 100% they try to tie you up and give you the runaround! The loan representative didn't really explain this loan to me very well when I got it, my fault!

Once BankOne was acquired by Chase, the account was changed. Somehow, the credit limit was reduced to $1.00 which created constant harassing phone calls which I had to have ceased and desisted and my credit score plummeted down to the 500 range. I spent at least 20 hours on the phone trying to resolve the problem over about a 1-2 year period without success. I was transferred around to various departments and no one was capable of resolving the issue.
My credit score was negatively impacted under false circumstances due to a bank acquisition.

I told them I have financial hardship at this time, I could pay $75.00 and I needed help with lower interest or lower payments. I want to pay my bill, but I can only pay a lower amount. I was told that there was nothing they could do and that they were going to add $39.00 late fee. Despite the credit protection on both accounts, that have been charged to both accounts; one at $79.72 and the other at $96.35 monthly. When I called credit protection, they had 8 options and the last one was a one time option of one month payment that I could not use at this time? I, at this point, canceled this plan on both accounts.
They would not refund the payment. Then I called Chase back and they put me in touch with counseling department; not just one, but two. When the card arrived, the manager called, making sure that I had received it, and then came the "bomb shell", that she would close our accounts in 10 days, but felt sorry for us, giving us instead 30 days.
Their behavior caused us a lot of hardship, embarrassment, and delay. They still owe us interests on our savings accounts, which were available as of 9/30/2010, however, those accounts and interests now have been removed from the website. I contacted the Comptroller of Currency in Houston, TX, and I feel that they are retaliating, by closing our accounts. Very bad experience. I am the victim of counterfeit U.S. Postal Money Orders, which were sent to me from a fraudulent scam artist who was pretending to be a company that looks for people to do "Secret Shopper." I filled out application and was sent an email from a person who says the company is looking for people to fill positions that are open. He said he was from "Mystery America" and told me what the requirements were to become a "secret shopper" for different agencies. I responded to his email. From there, I was sent money orders to fulfill what was being asked of me. I deposited money orders into my bank account (unknowingly that they were counterfeit) and withdrew the amount that was instructed to me.
I was told to evaluate a "Western union" agency, and by that I was told to make a transaction to evaluate the staff at specific agency. I did this and Western Unioned the amount to Spain. I was then told to deduct $250 for my commission, deduct $70 to evaluate a "Wal-Mart" agency. I thought this was a convenient way to make additional money to pay my bills. So, I told my sister about it who lives in GA. I then sent her the person's email. She contacted him and he sent her money orders to evaluate specific agencies as well, as a "secret shopper" for his company.
She went to post master to cash money orders. There they told her the money orders were counterfeit. She called me on the spot to tell me this information. I then went to my bank (JP Morgan chase) to let them know that the money orders that I have deposited maybe counterfeit and I told them (branch manager) the full story of what has happened to me. I told them that I am willing to divulge all of the emails sent to me from the person who sent money orders and any info that I have on this person.
I was told by the bank that we have to wait for the money orders to come back as insufficient before anything can be done. I then went to the police. I was told the same thing. Money orders have to come back insufficient before anything can be done. In the meantime, I was sent more counterfeit money orders, hence the person didn't know that I was on to him. I took those money orders to the post master since they are U.S. Postal. There they confiscated the money orders, the DHL package, letters regarding the money orders and confirmed they were counterfeit.
The post master explained to me that they will be conducting an investigation on the person who sent them with the information that I gave them. I explained to them what has happened to me and the deposit I made unknowingly that they were fraud. I was told to prompt my bank to do investigation. Today, I spoke with my bank's Loss Prevention and Claims Dept. and I was told that they will not do any investigation regarding these money orders. I am a victim of something so wrong and I am being treated like a criminal. I think it's unfair to just sit on this since I let them know from the moment I found out this horrible thing has happened to me. If the police will not help me nor the bank, who can I ask for help? I am a single mother. I work a 9-5 everyday.
I have no criminal record of any kind. I certainly wouldn't deposit fraudulent money orders intentionally. I feel so helpless. Someone took complete advantage of me. I would like to see someone look into this matter and if it can keep someone else from making the same costly mistake I made, then great. I feel as though if I should be liable, not for the full amount, I didn't spend it. I did what was instructed of me by what I thought was an employer. I sent the money orders as a part of the "evaluation." I can't afford to pay this money back to the bank. I am a victim. I was made to believe that I was doing a job for a company. I have the person's cell phone #, email address, and all correspondence from him, from the very first email to the last. I just want justice. Thank you.

August 2009, we went thru a lot of hoops. We were trying to get the interest rate down. We were current at the time. This was our second mortgage with WaMu. We talked with someone at WaMu. We were sent information via FedEx and they wanted tax information,W-2s, and reason why we wanted to adjust. I was unemployed for about 10 months previously and money was tight. We sent all information via FedEx, mail and fax. We did not receive any calls or information further. November 2009, we were informed that WaMu sold to JP Morgan/Chase. We believed we would receive new information and payment location and checked on status of all of the information we sent.
We tried several times to talk to someone and got the run-around. It was easier for me to call than my husband, but they would not give me any information because I was not the actual person that was listed on the bill. Both of our names are on the second mortgage as the same for the first mortgage. But they needed his authorization before they would even talk to me. We then were told in March of 2010 to try to readjust our second mortgage again. We received the same information as in 2009, but had to send to JP Morgan/Chase. We did so and called two weeks later and said they had the information and were working on it. We still received no information as to where to send any payments or statements. We called repeatedly for the next several months and got nowhere with them.
We then received a letter stating that JP Morgan/Chase may be able to assist with help and making payments. We received the same information as before FedEx. We were told to resend all our information again. I spoke with someone there and explained that we have done this three times and she apologized, but stated if we needed assistance in paying second mortgage, we needed to do this again. So we sent information. This was now August 2010. We sent and received a letter on September 2010 stating we were declined because this particular second mortgage is not a first mortgage so they cannot adjust or try to refinance. Now, we called them regarding this letter.
We were told we have 30 days from the letter in September 2010 to make some type of payment schedule with JP/Morgan Chase. We called the number on the letter. They now state that the account is not closed so they cannot do anything right now. We can speak with Assets and ask them to make some kind of payment arrangement so that we do not lose our home, but until the account is so called closed, they cannot do anything.
This is ridiculous! There has got to be someone to assist us. My husband thinks we should send a letter to Obama regarding JP/Morgan Chase. I told him it would not do any good. Is there anything that can be done and anyone that can assist us? We are current on our first mortgage.

After a fire in our home in August of 2007, we tried to work with the insurance company to get things back to the way they were (That's another story within itself). Several months later while the home was still being worked on, my wife and I received a check from the insurance company. We thought that the check was for all our destroyed property and personal belongings and had never dealt with a check that large before. We took it to the bank, WAMU, where we were customers and asked what to do.
They said that they'd process the check, put a hold on the immediate release of funds and keep it in our account. We wrote a check to the restoration company, to be deposited later, and to a store to replace the appliances since there was to be an inspection that Friday. All seemed well.
Months later, our bank accounts were frozen by WAMU, who claimed that the check was not processed properly. I was supposed to have three signatures, we had no idea. Now, we are in a law suit over this and the fact that the restoration company didn't finish the work, (again another story) and what they did was "disgraceful".From what I have read in our state laws, the bank should have seen to it that the check 1) was valid 2) was current 3) had the proper endorsements 4) then Cleared etc. Evidently, the check needed three signatures and the bank overlooked this.
The next thing we knew, our bank accounts were frozen, right after we sold some land and deposited the money.

I agreed and received a letter with the settlement amount of $4,712. There are no terms on the letter which I still have. I paid the amount requested, and the account was settled.
At the beginning of Sept., I returned faulty merchandise to a company by mail, and was credited by original payment, which I did not realize was my closed Chase account. I called Chase, and the representative stated that the $750.42 return was money that I "owed" the bank, and why would they return it to me? I said, well, according to my letters, the account was closed and settled. Plus, I have to replace the items I returned, and as expected, not from the original merchandiser.
So, I now essentially settled with Chase for $700. less than I actually owed them, and took a hit to my credit score when I could have just paid them in full. I have no terms and conditions that state these stipulations, I am out $750.42 in product, I have a reduced credit score, and no line of credit with Chase. This simply seems wrong to me.
I filed a complaint with FTC, as well. I will be sending Chase all of this information, and I hope I can get the money back I feel I am rightfully owed. Please help!

I had to talk to a buddy and took over his payment on his truck so I could get back and forth to work.

I have a problem with a balance transfer. I called the toll free number and explained the problem to a very nice woman. She said the check was probably expired. She said to look at the check on the front and back and see if there is an expiration date. There is none. She said if she could see a copy of the check she would adjust the rate to the 2.99 percent rate. She tried to pull it up and couldn't. Since she couldn't see the check, she transferred me to her supervisor, James **, to see if he would adjust the rate.
He said he couldn't because the check needed to be used by a certain date and the date was printed on the front or back of the check. I said I have a copy of the check attached and it does not have a date printed on it. He said, well maybe it was printed on the paper work sent with the check. He also said there is nothing I can do and there is no one else I can talk to. Could you please refer me to the right department or provide me with any help in this matter?

I do hope that you or the person that you pass this letter off to actually cares about your customers. From the treatment and experiences I have had with representatives of your company I don’t believe that anyone there does care about the customer only how much money you can make off that person. We purchased our home in 2008 as a new build from a builder. In January of that year we had a very good interest rate locked in. About three months later we were told that the interest rates had changed and so we no longer had that locked in rate. We did not like this but already had too much invested in the home to back out.
We have tried several times in the last 2 years to refinance our home with outside companies as well as with Chase. We have checked many times and we do qualify for every government program that the banks are supposed to have accepted to work for customers in return for the T.A.R.P. funds that they received. We have been rejected on every avenue we have taken with your bank. One representative even had the nerve to tell us to not make your payments for 6 months then we will refinance your loan. What the hell kind of advice and treatment is that coming from your representatives?
In July of this year we sent in all the documentation necessary to have our loan modified through the modification program. It seemed that every week we were told that we were missing documents that were sent in or that a certain page wasn’t signed (all pages were signed that needed to be). Your company kept losing documents and finding very ridiculous reasons that kept delaying the process. Now in September we received a letter notifying us that our loan has been sold to another lender. How convenient for Chase. This is too much of a coincidence that our loan is sold during our attempts to have our loan modified so that we can afford to pay our mortgage.
Our mortgage went up, by the way, due to Chase grossly mismanaging the escrow account and got us behind on our property taxes and now we have to pay extra to catch those up. I wish that banks were held legally and financially responsible for mismanaging accounts. Your company should pay the bill for your screw up not the customer. When we first received the letter of our loan being sold, I called and received the worst treatment I have ever received from any company.
The representative would not give me her name, kept interrupting me and talking over me while I was speaking, and even had the nerve to place me on hold because she did not want to hear what I had to say. I asked for a manager and she refused to connect me to one. She said that she would email her manager and he would call me back (which he has never done and it has been over a week now). She told me that my call was not a manager call. I told her she does not have the right to make that decision. I let her know that if I, the customer, state it needs to be handled by a manger then it have become a manager call.
I now called back and after several days of no one returning my calls finally got a hold of Mike in the modification department. He told me that our modification has been denied and tried to give me some bogus reasons that have to do with I or my wife losing our income for one reason or another such as death, being laid off, having to leave work to tend to a family members bad health etc. I do not believe it when he or any other representative states that our modification was not approved because of the loan being sold. I don’t believe it at all.
The facts are we requested modification, chase kept delaying the process by repeatedly losing documents, we receive notification of loan being sold dated September 13th; Mike told me that the modification was denied on September 17th. I have been told by Mike and the very rude person that has no name, that Chase doesn’t make the decision on the modification. I have been told that is done by Fannie Mae, the investor. I know this is a bold faced lie. Fannie Mae is not a loan investor they are merely a guarantor of the loan. They do not care if the loan is modified or not because it does not affect their bottom line. Chase is (was) the owner of the loan and has (had) all say in the decisions of that loan.
The facts speak loud and clear for themselves. Chase sold our mortgage to another lender to avoid having to modify our loan. As of October 1st, our loan will be handled by another lender. I know that we will have to go through refinance and modification requests all over again. I hope that they care more about their customers than you do. When customers are treated the way that we have been in our situation or similar ones, it is no wonder that many people just give the home back to the bank. They are treated rudely and are not given any assistance when it is desperately needed because of the greed of the bank. But I guess you need to get your money to pay your rent on Park Avenue somehow. I signed it from the mortgage number because that is all your customers are to you, a number.

Applied for a loan modification in Feb. 2009 with Chase. Was told no, I didn't qualify because my debts were too high. "But call back in 30days and lower your bills then you will get a loan modification." I lowered my bills, called back a month later. They told me, "Yes, you qualify for a loan modification." Sent me papers to sign and send back with certified funds of $1907. I reg payment was $2200. This was to be for only three months then was to be permanent.
It went on until Feb. 2010 with me calling every month to find out where my final papers were. Was told Chase was changing systems in Sept. In Nov. was told it will be my Christmas present from Chase. Then in Feb. 2010, I was told, "Sorry, you never were on a loan modification and we want our money now or we're coming for the house." Well I said, "Come, get it and all the *** snow too." Within two days, Chase was calling me and offering me a loan mod again. They called me four times in one day to offer me a loan mod with different amounts from $1947 to $1500. When I finally got paper work 45 days later to sign again, it was for $2011, which I have been paying by Western Union costing me an extra $23 a month to send to them every month.
Since I have been paying the $2011, I have received every month paper work to fill out and send back letting me know that I can have a loan mod. I haven't sent any back. I refused to. Since I started this back in 2009 and jumped through all their hoops for a year. I refused to jump no more. I have wrote Fannie Mae. I wrote the banking commission. No one will help. The president wonders why the housing market won't get better. Well, maybe he needs to stop and be a consumer and see what we are going through with these banks. We're not the rich guys. We're the working people. Only debt I have is a car payment and my house. I didn't refinance when everyone did. I think Chase needs to stop playing games and start looking at who we are as people and what they put us through.

I could not get into my account online again and I talked to a male sales representative who asked me for my name and card information, which I gave to him. He then asked me if I was a man or a woman, which I thought is odd, so I answered that I was a female. Then he told me he had my information but would not give it to me because he never heard of a woman with the name Randy, spelled with a "y". I said, "You're kidding me, right?" He did not want to give me my information that I need because the spelling of my name was incorrect as far as he was concerned.
I asked to speak to his manager and he put me on hold and then came back and told me 2 of his managers that were men, had never heard of a female with the name Randy spelled with a "y" either. I never had a chance to talk to his managers and I told him that was the most ridiculous reason why I could not get my information because of the way I spell my name.
I asked him if I could reset my user id if he wasn't going to give it to me he sad no! I told him it was ridiculous. I gave him part of my information and he still said it was wrong and kept repeating he had it but had never heard my name spelled like that for a woman. Chase Home Lending has repeatedly denied my refinance loan. Chase is demanding that all debts be paid, such as Honda loan. Most debt has been paid and lowered to $2000, with no other payment due other than my mortgage. Chase is now using another excuse to deny the refinance, stating that they are not sure if this is a primary residence of income property. The property is my primary residence and the initial mortgage was established as a primary residence loan without problem or question regarding my primary residence.
My loan was mixed up with a Marlin ** in Pasadena, Texas. And I received harassing phone calls demanding immediate payment of my loan. My loan was never late, and in fact I have a perfect loan payment history. I requested the loan payment history to ensure that the mix-up did not affect my credit rating. Chase advertises a 4.35% mortgage rate. I was denied the lower rate, repeatedly stating that my loan was too "low" and that I was borrowing $110,000, not $300,000 to qualify for the lower rate and term. Chase also did not offer the 15-year term but only the 30-year term.

I was also receiving Social Security, disability in the year of 2009, and I didn't see none of that. Chase changed my debit card Visa without my permission, and gave me the PIN number they had picked. They never took lump sum of the money out of the bank. Chase robbed me of at least $45,000.
My account does not add up to $85,000 and I have my receipts. Apparently, I am not the only one Chase robbed because they have a history of this behavior. I never bought a car and I did not spend $85,000 in a year. Chase locked me out of my account for that year. When I requested for them to let me in, they declined. They even allowed someone to go into my account, and deposit $250. And the bank went in and took $250 out of my account.
I asked them how did this person get into my account, using her name, and my account number, but they refused to comply. They also took money out of my account for the same item more than one time. I tried to get an investigation done but again, they refused to comply. I have documented proof where Chase has altered my account. Please help me. This has been going on too long. This was my savings, and they stole it. They cannot produce $85,000. They lump my money into big sums, and when I asked what did it cover, they refused to answer.

Phoenix lost 50 pages of the Welcome Packet and could not find it and claimed they never received it even though I had my UPS receipt. The refinance was denied again citing the excuse that Chase Bank is not sure that the property is my mother's primary residence.
My mother has a perfect loan history and has never been late. Chase Bank never offered her the current lower rates and term stating that her loan amount was "too low" being $115.000 and she would need to borrow 300,000 to qualify for the current Fannie Mae rate. Chase Bank mixed up my mother's loan with a person in Texas, who was apparently late and my elderly mother received harassing phone calls from someone named "Gigi" demanding immediate payment. I called the bank and demanded a copy of her loan history to ensure that this mix-up and bungling by the bank did not affect her credit.
I am going to contact my CA Congressman and report this bank and their lending practices in regard to my mother. It is my personal belief, that the bank wants my mother to keep paying the loan at a higher interest rate and will find one excuse after another to deny the loan.

After finding out about lower mortgage rate being offered, my husband and I contacted Chase Bank in Huntley IL. to inquire about the offer. Chase personnel said we could get a 4.5% rate and we should combine the car loan and house loan together and the calculation showed that we could decrease payment with the lower mortgage rate of 4.5%. So it was all agreed, and we paid the $350 application fee, and Chase sent us the official loan document dated July 23, 2010. We provided all requested information and allowed for home appraisal and Chase provided a conditional approval and closing date of 9/15 (today).
In the last three days before closing, Chase asked for additional information of which we provided and the last request on 9/13 for another document to be emailed to the personnel. On late 9/14 PM, Chase called that since the Chase personnel in-charge of this transaction were in a meeting all day and was not able to access /read the document that she requested to be emailed over. Chase said they had to cancel the meeting for 9/15 (today) but would expedite and arranged closing ASAP. We called today 9/15 to follow up and were told that due to closer inspection of the paper work, they are not able to provide us with refinance, unless if we lumped together the car loan, home loan, equity loan and American Express bill which then increase the mortgage to 2x the amount requested.
Our credit rating is around 800 and we always make prompt payment to credit cards and equity loans. It is now clear to us that Chase did not want to help consumers to get a lower mortgage rate on small loans. We find this practice to be deceptive and misleading since Chase should know early on if we were qualified. This surprise request on the day of planned closing to increase loan amount, and consolidating all of our other loans with Chase is an unethical business tactics to pressure consumers into their underhanded tactics with never the intention to help consumers to lower mortgage payment via lower mortgage rate.
This is a clear case of Chase using mortgage refinance as a bait and switch tactics so Chase can get all of our loans to their company. We also were asked to set up a bank account at Chase in this process when we were giving the sales pitch to move/consolidate our money from other banks to theirs.
We would have understood if Chase personnel had explained to us the qualification process and all the conditions for approval in the beginning of the refinance process. Either the personnel were so incompetent that they did not know what was required or they waited until the last day so the consumer will succumb to the pressure and give in to their unethical business tactics.

I went to Sini Grace Hospital, me and my niece, and we found out the paper they had was the wrong paper and account number was wrong so Chase Bank took it upon themselves to put the right account number and then told me that they knew something was wrong because they could not find the I.D. of my sister and then the people hit every bank until they took all the money out of her Chase Banking account. The bank managers were very rude and I know the money was in there and the first thing they ask was how do you know about her banking account and I told them I used to bring her to the bank to pay her bill. She said, “Well, why didn’t u come earlier to check her bank account.” And I explained to her, I thought her money was safe. if I would have known the bank was going to let someone come in and take all her money, I would have moved her to another bank.
I need to know what to do because that was wrong for Chase Bank to let this young lady come in and rob my sister like they did and I am in debt now for paying her funeral arrangement expenses when the money was in there to get her a house when she got better or pay for her funeral I need to know what course of action can I take to retrieve the money that was taken so that I can pay off the funeral bill.

In June of 2010 at about 3, I discovered some unauthorized debits to our checking account and had some identity theft. I met with personal banker, Ed **, to first freeze and then close our checking account to stop any unauthorized withdrawals. I had to go to the police department to file a police report against the companies trying to debit our account. Ed said he needed the police reports to file a claim with the recovery department. When Ed froze our account, it was overdrawn by $755.00, due to attempted unauthorized withdrawals. But the debits were sent back to the companies' insufficient funds and the companies received no money from our account. I even received emails from these companies stating that their attempted withdrawal to our account (which were not authorized by us) were returned as insufficient funds. So no one got any money from our account.
Apparently, when Ed froze the account at -$755.00, he or the bank failed to bring the balance to its proper amount which should have been -$117.00 due to overdraft fees. We saw this and wrote to Chase through our internet account, that the balance was wrong, that we would pay the fees of $117.00 out of the new checking account we opened and the fees were deducted. When next I checked our account, it was at a negative balance of -$618.00, which was still wrong! I contacted the bank by phone and was told it would be taken care of. Well on August 12, 2010, the Chase bank took $638.24 from our new account labeling it miscellaneous debit.
I called Ed **, our personal banker, about this and he said he would look into it. When I called him about it the next day, he said the bank was telling him that they took the money because our old account closed at a negative balance and that they paid the money to those unauthorized companies, which they did not! I even called those companies and they said they never received a penny from Chase from our account that their attempted debits came back insufficient funds. Chase made the mistake of not bringing the balance of our closed account to zero as they should have when it was closed and we paid the fees. They still insisted that they took that money because they paid those companies, which they did not! This debit took my entire pay check this week and caused 4 overdrafts that they charged us $34.00 each for. They still are refusing to pay us back anything even though we followed their procedures to the letter. We would like to make a complaint and claim against Chase bank for the unlawful taking of our money.

My friend told me that he opened a Chase checking account and they gave him $100, so I was interested and went to open an account that week. I told the banker I was coming for that reason, he asked me some questions and decided to set up a college checking account and a credit card and told me I could bring in my coupon within 30 days for the $100 reward. I go back to a different location and gave the banker the coupon. He told me that the offer was not good for a college checking account and that I had to change it to a standard checking account in order to use the coupon. He told me there was a $6 charge if I didn't have direct deposit or use the card 6 times within a billing period. I agreed and he changed the account.
I got a call from the original banker a few days later and he told me that he was wrong and he apologized and he told me he was wrong about the 30 days and it was really 7 days. A few weeks later, I call to tell him that I didn't receive the credit card and that I received an email that I would be billed $25 dollars a year. This was the first I heard of this, but maybe it was in fine print somewhere. I called and he was with a customer so I left a message. I didn't get a call back so I call again a few days later and he's in training. So he called me back the next day and he explains the situation. Overall I've wasted probably 6 hours in the bank and talking to bankers. I plan to cancel the card as soon after I get my $100 as I can. Hopefully there won't be anymore hidden fees before then.

Every Chase person has assured us that we'd be removed from lists and yet the mailings continue to come. I have even visited my local Chase where they took all my information and promised I'd be removed. I have not faith that they will follow through.
Not only do my husband and I received Chase offers, but my daughter (who hasn't lived here in 3 years) also gets Chase mailings. In addition, trying to actually contact a human at Chase seems just about impossible. I wouldn't do business with Chase Manhattan Bank if my life depended on it.

I have two loans that originated with WaMu mortgage. They are numbers ** and **. I am trying to establish a living trust and complete my tax return. My accountant needs information regarding balances, interest paid and rates for these loans for tax year 2009. I received a notice that my loans were assumed by Citicorp Mortgage. I first tried to call the given numbers (on the website) and found them to be disconnected. Then, a third number with WaMu kept me on hold for one hour and ten minutes. Finally, I spoke to someone who told me that my loans were now with Citi mortgage.
When I called the number at Citi corporation, I spoke to Naomi and Valerie (no last names given) who put me on hold for another ten minutes before they told me that they cannot find my loans. They then suggested that I call Smith Barney for some strange reason because I have never had a mortgage loan with Smith Barney.
At this point, after hours of being ** around, none of these companies claim to have or can find my loans, but they are still drafting my checking account for the monthly payments. Their inability to give me the information I need (much less even finding the loans) is going to cause me to be delinquent on the filing of my taxes. Please help them find my loans. I have paid on time for years; I was never delinquent. They should be able to find my loans and give me the information I demand.
Thank you for your expeditious assistance. The consequences are whatever the IRS wants to apply to me for being delinquent when I cannot get information I need to complete my tax return. I know, compared to people losing their homes, this is trivial. Do you think the IRS will think it is trivial when I cannot file?

I had decided to insure my property with my own insurance because it was too much using their insurance. I do not live in Florida so I had my daughter who has lived in this home for 16 years insure it and is on the deed of the home. In February 2008, she insured it with outside insurance. After several times of my insurance company faxing them proof, I would still receive papers of me owing mortgage payments because they were still insuring my home emptying the escrow account and taking my payments and using it to fill the escrow account, making me look like I was missing payments.
This took place for two years; they ask for several amounts of money to fix this problem and still they were unable to fix it as promised. They then asked me to add my name and said they would reimburse me the money for the two years they insured me. I never received that money; they also came up with a way of my owing them with no consult. I then received foreclosure papers and I have tried to fight this but someone needs to find out what happened and fix this problem. My daughter got the money from a car accident when she broke her neck and we have lived here for a long time, 17 years. I only owe $42,000 left and I think this is crazy.

They also signed me up for a credit card to cover any checks that may go through and bounce now that the money disappeared. I didn't know this was a credit card and I didn't know that I could be denied. They just said sign here and we will have a credit line of this missing amount linked to your account to pull overdrafts from until they can find the money. Well guess what, I was denied the next day. Um Denied? Now I have another inquiry on my credit report.
I fly from Germany to Utah and drove to California and spent a lot of money to pick out a house, put money on lease, sign children up for school, get utilities turned on, mapped out routes for new job transfer, signed lease and everything bounced because the bank account was empty instead of over $6,000. I went into an agreement with Washington Mutual for a land exchange because there was a developer who wanted to build around me and could only build if they could get a piece of my land for their entry road.
I had a childcare business that I had for at least 15+ years where I was more then capable of supporting myself and helping with financial obligations pertaining to the continuing education of my two daughters. The developer made promises concerning the installing of a underground culvert that would help them to stop the continuing movement of their land, making my land also move.
When I refused to sell a portion of my land to the developers, they in turn refused to put in the underground culvert that would not only stop further land movement, but also help with drainage and reinforcement of a future road that would be made behind me. I reminded the developer that this culvert was part of the resolution to them getting the road and the developer then said he would take care of any problems I might have. I was lied to and manipulated into believing that this man would follow through on his word - I know, how naive!
Since there were so many changes that this developer made and none of them make it to the formal contract, I asked for a letter that would spell out to anyone needing to know the other changes that either had occurred or would occur in the future. This way, I felt all my bases would be covered. This letter was to be written and sent in 6 months, if not sooner. The letter never came. This company has also built up large mounds of dirt around me and the land has depreciated in value.
This developer came on to my property to dig some holes for shale/dirt samples. While on their way up my hill, their diesel fuel came and landed in my pool. Not connecting the dots, I got into the pool to try to clean it and I broke out in sores that looked like burn marks. There is so much more to this story but to fast forward, the developer started moving his dirt from the hills to the side of me and misjudged a hill and poof - a bigger landslide. It obviously became apparent that the land they were exposing all us to was serpentine (asbestos). My children's parents became nervous, and under extreme duress, decided to remove their children from my care. I really cannot blame them since there was a lot of dirt in the air. The air traffic controller put on their machines only once a week even though the developers worked 5-6 day a week.
I lost all my children except one and notified Washington Mutual that I needed help. Between Jan 2009 to June 2009, Washington Mutual lost my paperwork 2 times. I applied online the third time and in July 2009, I was approved for a loan modification. I was told that the packet would be coming in the mail shortly and I was to sign and send back ASAP. They even gave me the amounts I would be paying. Again a lot happened here but to make a long story short, they played with my head and spirit until it was to late.
My home was to be sold the very next day but they gave me an extension at the last minute. I went to Oakland, CA to the city hall steps to see how the process of selling a bank-owned home went and because I wanted to see if what I was suspecting was correct. Sure enough, there on the city hall steps was the attorney to that same developer who had put me through so much already - waiting like a vulture. After being promised that they would help me, I was rejected with the excuse that I had not filled out all the paperwork. I feel by that time the developer had already been in contact with the bank.
From there, I went to another attorney and told him I needed some help. This man told me he had been a real estate attorney for 30+ years and assured me that he would help. He ignored the unlawful retainer where I could have pleaded my case in court but he chose to ignore it. I only found out when I saw the letter from Chase's attorney in San Diego. I was never served from the Chase attorney and they served someone I had never heard of.
My attorney went in a totally different direction trying to get me a loan. He never asked me how much I made or if I could even afford payments from these loan sharks. That's about the only way I could get any kind of loan after having worked on my credit for at least 40+ years and have it dissolve before me.
I am presently in the process of going after this developer and would like to know if anyone has heard of a lawsuit going on with either Washington Mutual or Chase/JP Morgan. I would be glad to add my name. I gave them every chance to work with me and they refused. The complaints that I read about them are all the same. People tried to work with this bank and then they lost their paperwork. I think Chase, who purchased Washington Mutual, would not work with me even though I had already paid at least $244,000 because they wanted more money for themselves since Wash Mutual had gotten my payments and because the developer and them were already talking.
The office of the Comptroller of Currency where a complaint was filed was a waste of time. I really don't know what these people with supposed power are doing with it. It surely is not helping us US citizens.
The REO realtor refused to put anything in the MLS about the landslide. The house has been on the market since March 2010 and I have just received notice that someone is paying the taxes and getting a homeowner,s policy so I guess it has sold. I am still going to fight. Chase refused to reverse the rescission even though that was the request of Senator Boxer's office, another dead end.
How can this happen to so many good people? And yes, I put myself in this category.
After many tries to get an attorney, I am representing myself. I have no choice. This developer has gotten to many of these attorneys who said they might help me but then refuse because of a conflict of interest or they have suddenly gotten busy.
There is a new law AB 590 that could have helped me legally but even though it went into effect in January 2010 it will not go into the final stages until July 2011. Did I mention that I am 64 years old and have lived in this home (my family home) for 40+ years. My daughter and I live here together and we are both disabled. I would like a response as to what I have written. Thanks.

The correction still has not been made and it is 8 days later. Clearly, the people I was speaking with on the phone were overseas and had a difficult time with the language and made mistakes while speaking and gathering the information I was relaying, including the amount that was in error. During this difficult time of financial strain, to have an error of $1000 puts me in a situation when bills need to be paid and yet I do not have the money available to me because of their error. I changed my phone number almost 1 year ago. The first 2 months was fine as I went through the trouble of changing my number with everyone and everything that is associated with me and my family. After 2 months, I started receiving calls from Chase Bank by first a recorded machine and then by a live person. They called 6-8 times a day for about 2 weeks. I was polite at first and then became mad and then hostile. They were looking for some Hispanic person that apparently knew he would not be making his payments and changed his number. I have been to Chase in person despite that I am totally disabled and require several people to assist me.
They stopped calling for about 2 weeks and then around the 5th of every month, I am still being bombarded by them. I put on call blocking through the phone and am limited to only blocking 10 numbers. They have too many to block! So then I changed my phone (cell) to only accept calls from people on my name list saved on my phone, and they still were able to leave 10+ messages each day. They do not show up as to whom the messages are from until played. They also do not show up on phone bill records either so I changed it back to maintain proof of the calls made both ways. The phone company said that I could change my number but I could have the same thing happen again. I first got several calls from collectors but Chase is the only ones that continually call. When I call them often to try to find a competent person, they say that my phone number is not tied to any of their accounts. Also, why should I have to change just because of one stupid bank that can’t get it through their pea brain heads that I am not the Hispanic person they seek!

It changes and is confusing you never know how much you have or what has cleared because from one day to the next, it changes and does not make any sense. I have just finished transferring all of my accounts to my credit union. I have had over $500 in fees since they've taken over WAMU. I've tried keeping track by keeping an excel spreadsheet but like I said the way things move you never know where something has gone or which transaction has left.
I recently called to ask why my account was up $200 and they said that if a vendor doesn't run the transaction after 5 days they credit the money back to your account. Can you imagine? I used debit not credit so things would automatically hit my account and I could have an accurate account of my money. I never had this problem with WAMU. So far my credit union isn't playing switcharoo with my transactions and I can easily keep track. Bye-bye Chase.

First off, the women in the La Quinta Ca office favor men over women. When I tried to deposit a check with both my and my husband's name they refused unless he was there. But cashed a tax return check with both my and my husband's name on it with out me there. The real issue is that my spouse usually gets his check on the 30th or 31st of the month the funds are usually available the next day. However, he signed up for direct deposit, he was told the funds were available so he wrote me a check for my own account which was to pay bills and electronic payments just like we've done every month for the last few years. I deposit the check into the ATM at the end of that day.
The next morning we discovered my husband's funds were still in his account and the bank returned the check. Yet, I still had the funds in my account. My husband walked into the bank to find out why this was happening. He was told the check was returned because the funds were not available so they went back and forth and pointed out the employee who said the funds were available through direct deposit. He said there was nothing he could do. Since the bank claimed the funds would stay in his account, my husband took out money and made a cash deposit into my account. He then decided the first deposit may not have been enough and deposited a 2nd deposit into my account all within minutes of each other.
The next day the funds were no longer pending and was cleared in my account and said all the money was available. I freaked out because I just finished paying bills from my husbands account so I called Chase customer service. Reggie told me my account was fine, the check cleared. He asked me for my husband's account information, checked his account and said my account was fine. My husband's account was negative and would have to be fixed and he would wave any fees because it looked like the system missed half a day, whatever that means. He then gave me his employee ID number, and a confirmation number in case there was another issue they could just look it up and remove any fees if the system didn't do it automatically.
So I rushed to the bank to withdraw funds to cover the bills going through my husband's account and got a cashiers check for my rent. Everything seemed to be okay. Only it was far from it. I checked my account this morning to find my account negative over 2 grand saying the check was returned and was not in pending status. And get this, the cash deposits were nowhere to be found.
I called the customer service number and asked for the employee I spoke to said I have an employee ID number and a confirmation number. The guy was mean and didn't want to hear it. He said, "I can't transfer you so tell me what going on." So I went through the whole thing again. Now it's been 4 days later and no one cares. He checked my husband's account and said the funds were there so he didn't understand why it was returned "today". He put me on hold and said this manager doesn't understand why it was returned because the funds are still there.
He then asked me to hold while he spoke to another department came back on the line and said it's because the funds were not available when I cashed the check. I said yes they were. We went back and forth. I have print outs from my account deposit slips everything. I even asked him to clarify why my cash deposits were missing he couldn't explain it and said have him write me another check and deposit it into my account again and it should clear.
I then called back to make sure my cashiers check was going to clear okay. The lady named Ronda was nice and tried to help me. I told her what happened, she said she was going to ask another department if they could run it through again, and they said no. So she told me to go withdraw the money and deposit it into my account since it was an error on their behalf, they will make sure to wave any fees fees. At this point I don't believe anything they say, and after talking to my lawyer, it sound like they just care about recovering the 2 grand that's negative in my account. But no one knows where my 2 deposits vanished. I'm done with Chase, and advised my husband to leave as well. I have accounts that have bounced because the payments didn't go through as well as fees. I will not only have to pay the bank but each person whose payment didn't go through.

Since starting our account at Chase Bank, we were erroneously charged the first month; a service when a saving account is to accrue interest and increase its value. I have contacted Chase repeatedly were they acknowledged the complaint, but will not credit back the charge. This month, I insisted and told them I would seek federal assistance and notify a Consumer Fraud Agency, but they did the same thing. They charged my account, it went under the $300 minimum and so they say we owe them the fee.
I replenished the $5, the balance went back up to $300. They again charged me the service fee. In truth, my saving interest is zero. No interest accrual because they continue to charge me $5 a month, that is $72 a year to a saving account that pays 1%. This is truly fraudulent service charge, continued harassment by the customer service reps and a continued gouging of the American citizen.

I am writing about the Chase bank account for a licensed Michigan adoption agency, with a credit line of $28,000. In February 2010, a statement showed the balance as $303.33. The balance payment was due by 3/23/2010. It was paid in full and was posted on 3/22/10. The March statement, however, showed a balance of $3.85 as a "charged interest". I called the bank to dispute it on 4/19/10. A bank representative offered to waive it for me as a courtesy and told me that it brings my account balance to $0.00.
Today, on 7/28/2010, I learned that on 07/23/2010, the bank closed this account for the reason that I did not pay the interest of $3.85, which according to my knowledge was waived. Jason, a supervisor in charge, offered to reinstate the account today and send me a confirmation letter by fax. I did not receive a letter and called the bank again. This time I spoke with Stephany, who explained that there's no record of me talking to Jason and that the interest of $3.85 has never been waived and that there's also no record of me discussing this interest on 4/19/10.

Chase Bank will tell you great things up front and then take advantage of you. Don't sign anything at a Chase Bank until you have read all the fine print. They will smile and tell you anything you want to hear. Once you're hooked, interest rates may skyrocket to 25% or more. Penalties will be assessed for early payoff on loans, no matter what they tell you.
Whether you are dealing with them in person on loans, on the telephone on credit cards, in person on credit cards, any time, they will tell you it's okay and then take full advantage of all interest hikes, payment penalties, maximum allowable time for transactions and any other thing that is in the fine print that they can use to take your money or keep you tied to credit you can't afford.
I paid a loan off for a horse trailer early that I was told I could do without penalty when I signed it. They charged me a penalty when I paid it off and told me since I didn't call that day to get the full amount, there was still a balance of around $100. So the best thing to do would be to let the auto deduct continue on the next cycle and pull the $362 or so dollars. Then the loan would be paid in full and they would send me a check for the difference within 21 days. I went into the bank and paid the banker on June 28th, the last automatic deduct came out of my check on July 1.
It's now July 26th and I just got a thank you letter for paying off the loan and a bill for $38.00 for interest accrued on a Chase credit card account I closed and paid in full last month. When I go in the bank the banker says nobody can do anything, the check must be in the mail. When I call on the phone it's always somebody else's department. Today I called Chase, told them they were dishonest and I wanted a name and phone number for a responsible person for all Chase Bank operations. I was told there is no such person. No basis for a law suit, just do not do business with Chase Bank.

It appears that Chase Bank reversed a large deposit I made at their ATM because of the lack of an endorsement. They then proceeded to send the check back via slow snail mail. The deposit was made on a Friday, the rejection made on a Monday, and now it is Wednesday, and I still do not have the check back. Hence I could not even endorse it properly, if required, and re-deposit the check.
This appears to be an attempt by the Chase bank to generate check overdraft fees. There is no reason why an automated phone call couldn't have been made to resolve the issue.

During the winter, Chase Bank began using the number 866----- in a mail out to their customers offering overdraft coverage. We have been using 800------ for our customers for over 30 years. Chase's customers apparently can't tell the difference because we have periodically been bombarded with phone calls as a result of these mail outs. I have contacted both my senators and my representative regarding this. I called the executive office of Chase about this, I filed a complaint with the OCC about this.
Basically, Chase takes the position that it's not their problem. In June, they wrote me a letter stating that it's not their problem. So, I have been giving the executive number to their customers and they are now also being bombarded with calls from their customers. They are calling us and asking us to do something about this. Our answer is and has been from the beginning that they should use a different number. Perhaps they should use one of the 800 number of which they surely have many for these mail outs.

I have an automatic withdrawal for my car insurance. Chase did not allow the payment to be posted which is fine, but they still charged me $34 for the payment trying to come out and then another $15 extended overdraft fee. This is the first time they have charged a $15 fee. Not sure what that is for. These banks have gone mad with all of their fees. I get charged $2 if I even check my balance at another bank. This needs to stop. Instead of just returning the charges and ending it there, I now have lost $83 which is ridiculous, when all they did was return the payment for insufficient funds.

Since 6/30/10, Chase representatives have called my cell phone 72 times, despite being asked verbally and in writing to cease and desist. As they have instructed me, I have emailed and faxed over three letters asking that they stop calling. In addition to the excessive number of calls, they very often will leave a message and continue calling that same day. When I have been available to talk to them on the phone, they either have hung up on me or ignored my issues with the continued calls.

I dealt with my local bank because trying to work with the New York office was futile. Therefore, my complaint is the national office that works with mortgages. I received notices that I was a payment behind. This was inaccurate. But the customer service lines, the people I talked with online, all insisted that I was missing a mortgage payment. I had a little over $3000 to go on my mortgage and they sent me a letter of foreclosure and notice that they were going to report me to the Credit Bureau. The local Personal Banker in Spokane tried to work with the NY office to clear up the matter but was unsuccessful for months. Finally, he printed out all the mortgage information and determined that the Mortgage Division had misapplied one of my payments.
The New York Mortgage division is incompetent, petty, and dangerous to people who have mortgages with them. The last item was a letter from them freezing my Home Equity loan (my mortgage is now paid off) because of "your payment history with us." Once again, I called and they said it was derogatory information they had received from a credit agency. In fact, my credit is excellent and the agency had no such information nor had they contacted Chase with the information. My payment history with Chase is just as good except for their incompetence which damages my credit history.

Chase has sent a 1099-C and it was filed with my 2009 taxes. Now they are reporting to the credit bureau that I still owe the debt. Are they double-dipping? They have not offered a settlement, just wrote off the debt and now reporting it unpaid. I am unable to get a credit score that will allow me to refinance my home so I can pay my debts.

I lost my job 8 months ago and have been living on unemployment. Cashing roughly the same check every two weeks at my home bank. I started with Washington Mutual but changed over to Chase at some point.
I never had a problem when $60k was flowing through my account but when UE checks were going through, I noticed they sure liked holding on to that cash and sticking you in the back with Overdraft fees whenever possible. Even on several $1 transactions! Fast forward- 4th July weekend. I dropped a check to Chase bank in Lompoc California on Saturday before the holiday weekend. They would not release any of the funds until next business day which was after The 4th of July! I was supposed to visit family! They branch manager was a snobby witch named "Stephanie" who seemed to enjoy denying the funds citing bank policy over and over again.
Furious I had words with her as I left. No threats just some choice words for her to enjoy the start of her 4th July as mine was now screwed. As I drove to my hometown and now out of state, I stopped into another Chase Bank having a "Grand Opening" inside a store and asked to speak with a branch manager and explained the situation. After time and on the phone with customer service the nice lady reversed the witchy manager of my home town and gave me $500. Problem solved or so I thought.
Stephanie wasn't to be so easily undone. As the funds came into my account, I made a few purchases when a text message from Chase alerted me to a debit transaction of $999,999.99! Stephanie **. Had my account closed and funds seized (at least at this time) and all because this evil ** wanted to have her way. I could tell that she actually enjoyed citing regulation and the thought of ruining my holiday weekend. I hate Chase Bank. They are fine when you are up but evil in business. Positively the worse bank I have ever dealt with. Do not do business with them! Go somewhere else.

These are unbelievable Chase Bank practices. 1) The deposit made on June 24 was held nine days until July 3. Payor (LPL Investments) confirmed that funds were transferred the next day, June 25. 2) Today, Chase Visa declined. Chase customer service explained a payment made 2 days ago (July 5) from a Chase checking account with available (not pending) funds being held until July 13!
This is inexplicable, egregious behavior. I have to stop here before profanities begin.... There's $845 of unusable cash money in the bank being held in Chase cyberspace, not to mention emotional distress! That is after $15,000 of unusable funds in Chase cyberspace for 9 days!

I received a check from my university, which I won't name here. This was for a Federal Pell Grant for financial assistance, as I am in good standing with a 3.5 GPA. The check was drawn on Chase Bank. The amount is really irrelevant, but here is the scenario. I walked into the financial institution, fully expecting that with valid ID, I would have the badly needed funds to get caught up on items that the money was alloted for. I first approached the teller as he indicated he could assist me. His very first question was did I have an account? Fair enough, I answered "no, I just need to cash this check" which is a Pell Grant through my university but in essence, a Federal Grant. I immediately provided my ID, which consisted of my valid California Driver's license and my Social Security Card.
I was then informed that I would need another form of picture ID or a credit card from another bank. I explained to the gentleman that I am a student (I even had all the paperwork that accompanied the check), I rent a room from folks and have no bank accounts or utilities in my own name as this was another option. Frustrated, I asked to speak to the branch manager. Although cordial, he went over several options with me that all made no sense whatsoever. He then asked my age, I confirmed 52 years of age. He then stated that if I was a senior citizen at 55, they would be able to cash my check with the ID I had available. I am not sure what this country is coming to when a bank refuses to cash their own check with ridiculous stipulations that are imposed based on a three year variance in age?
Bottom line here for me is that I politely took my check and informed the manager that not only would I explain to all the inhumanity of this bank, but complain to all, via the internet, as to warn people to shun this financial fiasco that does not honor their own paper without senseless criteria. The economic damage here is that I will have to cash this desperately needed financial aid via a retail "check cashing" outlet that will, no doubt, charge me $60.00-$80.00 of the funds I need for school and accommodation. Not to mention, the dissolution about our whole banking system here in the US. I would welcome to be part of any class action lawsuits that are in place regarding this criminal enterprise.

I have had financial difficulties and I have not been able to pay my chase credit card, which has a minimum payment of $300. I have paid my home equity loan and my United Mileage cards with no problem because the payments are a lot lower. However, yesterday, I found out that my bank suspended my line of credit on my equity loan, even though that payment was always made on time. I also found out that United Mileage cancelled my credit card and that payment was also on time.
I cannot understand why Chase cancelled two of my other accounts because one was delinquent. Chase ** in plain English. They do not work with you, the reps are real real rude and all they tell you is, you're delinquent on one card it affects all your cards. Chase has since put a lawsuit on my big account for $1,180.00 to catch me up. That's excluding the $300 or so monthly payment I will have to pay for the rest of my natural life sine I am 71 years old. Other companies work with you as hardship cases due to this economy and give you lower payments and lower interest rates. Not Chase. I bank there and I am seriously thinking of pulling all my accounts and putting them in another bank. I agree with the party that said, Chase should go under. I will never never open another Chase card again. Since Obama bailed them out, they got worse and worse and the American people are suffering tremendously.

In 2008 I rented a safe deposit box with WAMU on the basis that it was paid annually with an automatic deduction from my checking account of $50. Then, in 2009 I decided to cancel the safe deposit box with now Chase Manhattan Bank. I went into the branch approximately 1 1/2 months before the deduction was to occur and cancelled the rental of the safe deposit box. The account manager took my keys and had me sign a piece of paper stating I no longer wanted the box. When renewal time came around, I saw that my checking account was deducted $50 for the box.
I called the branch and told them that I had cancelled the rental of the box. They proceeded to tell me that the deduction comes from another company and basically gave me the run around. This went on for about 2 months until I finally yelled at the branch manager and said you assured me this would not happen and I think Chase has enough money to put back the $50 they owe me. After I got upset I noticed the money was put into my account.
Now, in June of 2010, I have received a letter indicating I owe for this year's rental of the box. When does this stop? It has been a year since I have rented that box and they are charging me? I called the branch today and of course conveniently all managers are not available and in a meeting. I left my phone number and no one has called me all day. I also called the 800 number for Chase who said I had to talk to the branch I opened the box at. I told them I want someone in-charge in their corporate office to alert them of the lack of attention to this matter and the fact that no one is doing their job properly. They could not give me a proper phone number until I asked for a supervisor who gave me the district manager's phone number. I called him today and left a detailed message with my phone number to the surprise again of no return phone call. What does one have to do to get an issue resolved with one of the largest banks of America?
