PeopleReady branch locations lack accountability. Most are allowed to run wild and do whatever they want to different people. Diversify the Branches and we'll see the true magnitude of what's really been going on. Trust me, it's worse than you think. I was hoping JobStack application would limit the amount of prejudice and favoritism that exists throughout, but it only created/fostered new levels of deceit. Branches now use (abuse) the Text alert system to act on their prejudices. They even state in the text message "Not" to accept jobs on JobStack until you talk to them first. I thought the ratings system helped to eliminate individuals who had poor performance. So why the need to call the branches before accepting a Job?
PeopleReady says there is no need for concern with Retaliation when you politely and professionally address these issues. ***SPOILER ALERT*** WRONG. Tier 1 Status with great reviews from employers yet My JobStack was temporarily suspended and I've been removed from most Text Alerts. Only receiving those that are low paying and horrible environments. So so exhausted with PeopleReady as a whole along with the individuals they put in charge of a lot of the branches. True Leadership starts from the top. So if you put a person in charge with no genuine sense of integrity or sincere conviction as to who they represent (PeopleReady) this is the end result.
A perpetuation of the same behavior or even worse because it is accepted and tolerated. It's the ongoing theme of "business as usual." It Needs To Stop. Purge the branches and revive the business model and culture that was intended from the beginning. :-( I'm so Sad right now. Posting with tears??? in my eyes. I used to love and admire PeopleReady as a brand but over the years they have morphed into something I don't even recognize. Please fix this PeopleReady. I know you can if you're willing to face the fact that there is indeed a problem. Please help save what's left of the values PeopleReady had. Coming from a sincere place.
Called at 7:00 am to see if I could get 3 people to move furniture, needed at 9:00 am the same day. I am 60 yrs. young with a bad knee. At 9:46 am. a young man shows up in flip flops with his boots in his hand, by this time I am over halfway finished unloading the trailer. I sent him back to his office. It’s now 10:06 am. Haven’t seen or heard from anyone at PeopleReady? I have a National account with PeopleReady, I pay my bill to them on time. If they would have said we don’t have anyone available for 9:00 am or we can get them there later than 9:00 am I would have understood. A phone call would have been nice.
I got a call today telling me I was going to be fired the next time I didn't call my branch office about leaving a customer job site and Yes I haven't worked for the Sherman branch in over 1 1-2 yrs and I never got papers to sign and to read or special instructions. And some personnel called me being outright rude and disrespectful and wasn't concerned at all. And her name was Kel is all I'm told and when you call the branch Nobody says, "Thank you for calling PeopleReady. How can I help you." And they Never say "This is such and such. How can I be of assistance." They should be more caring.
Don't bother applying to this company, they are very rude, and racists. They have taken me off of 2 job assignments that should have lasted 3 weeks. The so called app is garbage. It's a way for a lazy office person to be able to give their ** friends a job that a ** skilled man has already signed up in advance for and accepted the job.
The few times I've worked I had to give others a ride and of course they are always claiming to be broke so they can ride free. Then they have the nerve to ask you to take them to the store the first break you get. One guy even said to another in the car "YOU UNDERSTAND BEING BROKE CAUSE YOU'RE **". WTF. Are people still this ignorant! I was broke before that spoiled brat was born.
You will get bumped off all of your jobs when it rains if you're **. They are racists bad, don't waste your gas or time. You will be disappointed. They got more games to play on you than Disney World. Labor Finders in Greensboro is not like that. Neither are the other 2 pay daily places. If you are dumb enough to go there thinking you are different or desperate and have no choice remember they don't care. By the way the people riding with me (all **) got their money immediately while it took 5 hours or even days to get paid. I have more ** friends than any other and I wouldn't recommend it to them either. They will take advantage of you if you have a car, I drove 30 miles each way and they do not pay mileage as advertised.
Poor customer service from branch 1466BR. I would never go back! I took work completing four days total. The job I worked for have NOTHING but nice things to say about me and the person I referred and agreed we did our job above expectations! PeopleReady stated the job paid one pay but after the first day the pay was lowered WITHOUT NOTICE as well as the opportunity to either accept or deny the job and the explanation I was given was and I quote “well that wasn’t even our job. We took it to help out another branch and everyone was notified of the change in rate.” When I ask how was everyone notified since I check my email, the app and call logs daily and I wasn’t notified the manager Zoraida ignored my questions as if I didn’t even speak and dismissed me as if I was a bother. The staff Desiree and Jarrel act very rude and speak ghetto with attitude when they feel as if they don’t like something a client says.
I had to call and go to the office multiple times because when I signed up I was told I would be paid daily (not that I have a problem being paid weekly) but when you are told one thing and have to wait over a week for your money it comes off unprofessional. I was told I don’t know how things work so I don’t know what I’m talking about regarding payroll. After I explained I used to own and operate my own business and then explained his job to him he didn’t even apologize to me for speaking in such an unprofessional manner. I also overheard a staff member Omar state to a client while I was in the office filling out my application and then was told by the same staff member that there was a one hundred dollar referral bonus. When the person I referred there asked Jarrel about it he was ignored and then Jarrel turned to me and said, "Tell him to sit down as."
There are hundreds of staff agencies in the Hudson county area and they will all be getting my business in the future. Clients like me are the reason staff agency have a job in the first place. I have over twenty years in customer service background and the way I was treated is not the way I would treat even the most irate customer. I would not recommend this branch to anyone unless you want to be lied to cheated and unpaid in an unprofessional manner!
One of the PeopleReady branches sent out a text looking for several employees to do a store reset overnights at several Central and Eastern Massachusetts locations of a well known chain store. In the original text message, the wage offered for the job is $16.28 per hour. The very next day the wage offered was lowered to only $14 per hour for the exact same job.
I had been told by a former recruiter that the agency permits recruiters to pocket the difference for each/every worker they can get to accept lower wages. I'm assuming this practice is legal (?) but it is clearly deceptive and disrespectful toward all workers (who are far more valuable than the one recruiter just sitting all day at a desk sending text messages). I think all companies who are considering hiring workers through PeopleReady (or any daily pay temp agency) should know about these "day labor" agencies' wage abuses. Please hire your temporary employees through other, more reputable agencies.
So this seems like a common theme after reading these reviews. OBVIOUSLY THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO FIX THIS!!! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY HUSBAND HAS NOT BEEN PAID ON TIME. I have auto bills and our account has been over-drafted because of PeopeReady! How can such a well known huge company be so disorganized? Get it together.
Schenectady, NY - They mixed up my husband's bank info on the 7th and we went to go fix it and they said it will take 5 days to fix it. Here it is going on w weeks and nobody can tell us where the money is or even answer the phone. Filed a complaint with corporate and department of labor. Next might look into filing a lawsuit. It has caused us a major financial burden and stress.
Glendale Arizona - Absolutely horrible with taking care of their employees and their pay!!! This is the 3rd time in the last week that the branch has delayed my pay on time. Corporate has to step in and do their part. If someone is overwhelmed and accepting work orders too large to accommodate their employees' pay on time? That is a issue! I now have to go pawn some of my personal items to make ends meet! Ridiculous!! 3rd time this has happened in the past week!
I had applied for a position at PeopleReady for a staffing agent and was contacted by Corina asking me to come in at 1 pm the next day. I arrived at 12:50 on Wed. I was asked to have a set and was told Corrina would be with me in just a minute. At 1:10 pm Corina comes out of her office and takes a man who had been there when I came in and told me she would be with me in a minute. At 1:40 pm Corina still had not come out of her office and I could hear loud laughing coming out of her office. She nor anyone else let me know they was sorry for the wait. I got up went to one of the girls told her my appointment was supposed to be at 1 pm and it was now 1:40 and I was leaving. She said ok and turned her back on me. I suggest if you're looking for a job you go to another agency if you want to work as this agency does not care about giving good service.
So I have been using PeopleReady for 3 winter seasons now, back when it was Labor Ready. And back when they actually had tickets to give out. And for 6 spring and summer seasons I'm head farmer and landscaper. Average workweek for me during the summer months are 90 hour weeks plus the houses I caretake for. So what I'm getting at is I'm a damn hard worker and normally work circles around anyone near me. You would think this is a good thing, but with this branch in Bangor, ME, it's not the case. It took me till this winter for anyone of the 4 in that office to know me by name, and it's because unless you cause trouble they don't care to know you. I swear if they would stop letting these drunks and methheads keep working, they would stop losing tickets. And then they'll blow your phone up when someone else is screwing up, unless it pertains to me, I don't appreciate being spoken down to whether it's face to face or text.
Right now I had a good ticket, was told it* 5 was long, Mon through Friday, got transportation out there, yadayada. Well for one it got pushed out almost 2 wks before we finally got on site, then we get there and are told it's more like a 9 wk to a year ticket depending on how many bridges get ordered, while there they got another one to make a total of 3 bridges for the summer. Had they started when they were supposed to and was for the duration they said it was to be it would have been fine. But my thinking is after my first day I should give this to another person because I can't dedicate the time with my 2 other full time summer jobs. Well today is my 98-yr-old grandmother's funeral, and I wasn't going to be able to make it in, I thought I could work till noon to get home and dresses but would have had to hitchhike home, so go to tell them in the office at 725 am to find it all locked up.
Told them through text that I couldn't get in but their service won't let me send any more than a few words or it denies the destination, so in return they tell me they have to replace me. Well I asked for an email so I could always explain what's going on but nope, got no response back. And I'll get retaliation from this. It's how it works down there, unless you're dating one of the office people or a favorite of theirs. I go and I do my job as well as the work of 4 other people, if I have to hear one more time I'm not getting paid to be my best or fast I'd go insane.
I'm now looking into going through Bonnie Staffing or Maine Staffing because it is the most unprofessional place I've worked for. Plus they can't keep customers, now it's picking up but they've lost some big money tickets and about to lose a few more because they don't care. You're just a number filling a slot. The few that are trying to make a living are stuck with the stigma that we're all lazy drug addicted thieves until we can prove them wrong. So if you're smart you'll look elsewhere if you're trying to survive.
I applied for this company for a job as a sign holder. I am a College student working on my BA in Criminal justice and about to finish in 2 months and need a job, after completing and Registering an account and My Work Habits test as part of the application process. I get an email that "At this time we do not have a position that matches your skills, experience and/or work habits. You are eligible to re-apply for work again in 12 months". What skills and experience do I need to hold a sign. This makes no sense. The Work Habits test states that you should be honest, and it makes no sense because I completed the test honestly. I do not steal, or drink or do drugs, and this all seems like because I have a college degree that I cannot get work. This company needs to be shut down for falsely denying a jobs to people that need it.
If I come to your office looking for work and you say I have work starting 12 hour shifts and I decided to agree and I asked you when will we get paid then you say Monday and I said OK. Then Monday arrive and I don't get paid. We have a problem. Don't expect me to continue working for you and you can't pay my salary in a speedy manner. They had the nerve to call asked me to come back to work. That's a foolish idea. Pay me my 57 hours of work and then I May consider going back to work. We'll see what Tuesday. I'll call Shelby.
PeopleReady in Jersey City do not care for their clients one bit. Because of their laziness I do not get paid until late Friday evening. I live week to week and need to have access to MY money at a reasonable time. When I try and address this issue with them they are rude and do not care. It's very upsetting to me how these people generally don't care. And I really do not want anything to do with them anymore. I'm going to try and go through another agency. In closing they are the most unprofessional agency I have ever worked for.
I have used LaborReady/PeopleReady on and off for almost 18 years. Never once a complaint about me. Worked last ticket for 3 months. Have worked ticket for last two years in a row even was lead for PeopleReady last time I was there. The current lead was sexually harassing female employees and the females felt uncomfortable and told me so. I said something to lead. So then last night of ticket was told I could leave early so when I did so I got DNR and lead told branch I had verbal conflict with another employee and was suspended for a week. So feeling convicted for something I did not do I didn't return for a month and a half. Now upon returning today they inform me I have been put on the inactive list. I feel my rights have been violated.
Issue resolved
This has got one of the worst temp agencies around. Apparently it's okay to send people out on jobs that don't exist I was sent on an assignment in another state. When I got there the assistant manager of the place I was assigned to threw a fit because she wanted another employee that had been sent the previous day. She called the branch that sent me out there to work and started whining about how she wanted the other person. As it turned out I was told, "Oh I am so sorry." There was a mixup and that I wouldn't be needed. This after I drove 20 minutes to another state to work 'cause these people had a fit. I was not happy and told the assistant manager that this was a joke. I tried to call the office and have gotten no answer or call back. This is one of the most unorganized temp services I have ever seen.
Whereas I have been mildly satisfied with PeopleReady's new feature called "JobStack," I agree with other employees that assert a selectivity bias or favoritism during the process of receiving a confirmation for a specific job. What I am saying is, that once I select a job by indicating I want the job personnel from a branch may tell that job is for not available. On one occasion, I was told that a job that I had selected was for employees with a "return" request. Anyway, all the local branches operate with their own set of rules.
When I first started working for People Ready, I would accept a job through the JobStack app. And PR would contact me and ask "how are you going to get your ticket?". A couple of times I accepted a job on the app. And the company didn't need any employees, drove almost an hour away and 5 months later find out they were supposed to pay me for going. As I stated earlier when I would accept a job on JobStack PR would contact me, if they didn't contact me and ask about how I was getting my ticket, I wasn't going to waste time and gas going to that job. I accepted jobs on JobStack and didn't receive a confirmation call or text so I didn't go; PR suspended me for 30 days. There's no communication, the office managers don't know what they are doing. They claim all offices are the same but they work differently. They have horrible attitudes and definitely need to get it together.
I've never seen a company who cares less about those who work for them. Don't they realize that we are the ones that earn the office staff their paychecks? Job descriptions rarely match up to what you are doing. They send the fit people out on easy jobs, but at the same time, they will send out someone who is shy of drawing SSI by a year to dig a ditch. The manager at the Grand Forks office stole $10 from me for a vest I didn't want. AVOID these people and hire the appropriate personnel you need.
I've been told there's a ** list there. I'm sure I'm on it. I was signed up for text alerts when I got paid, not getting it, and no response why. Sent out when customers didn't need me. Late because no hard hat. 1 hour late because staff showed up late to print my ticket. Job description doesn't match actual job duties. Check grossly wrong on multiple occasions... Etc.
This is most definitely the worst temp service ever. They don't care what kind of jobs they send you on. They don't pay on time. You have to work like a slave for a li'l of nothing and they want You to drive almost out of town for the same pay. They rarely reimburse gas and they don't care about people going to work with bad hygiene. They want you to pay to carpool when they send you out. Half the time they don't have a place for you to park on the jobs they pick and choose workers and the workers they pick are sorry so it makes you have to work harder. I didn't even know they still have 7.50 an hour jobs. It's just way too much with this place. I guess that's why they have to keep a lot of crackheads around because nobody's sane going to go for all of this. They really should be reported and closed down.
You will do all the work but they will make all the money. This is the worst temp agency I've ever worked with... They don't pay on time... The jobs suck... and they charge 3 times what they are willing to pay you. They never want you to call and ask questions.
My husband has been working through Labor Ready for 2 years now. Let me tell you this has by far been the toughest 2 years in our lives. We arrive daily around 5:30 am to try to get work and time after time Marian the lady that handles the morning crew refuses to send out my husband. He will be 1-5 on the list and we watch her call in her favorite people for jobs and leave everyone else to sit. This morning we sat for 3 hours and saw countless Hispanics come in hours after we had been there and walk out with tickets. She was going to put my husband on a ticket because she had someone that didn't show up or call on a job the day before.
Instead of being fair to the people that had already been sitting hours she proceeds to call this man and give him time to get up there for work even though he no called no showed the day before. Guess what? He was Hispanic. I'm tired of the discrimination that is clearly happening here. If you're not one of this lasted favorite people of Hispanic there are no jobs for you here. I will be calling corporate although I doubt anything will be done. This place will not help you get ahead in life. It Will even put you in the poor house just trying to work.
They take forever to pay you! ** them! Go to another temp agency. They all pay you right away. Of course Labor Ready thinks it's the top of the line of all agencies, so why not be different and difficult? It's not like it used to be. They send your work hours into payroll, and payroll takes forever to pay. It can happen from 2 pm to 10 pm. I've heard of some people not getting paid at all defeating the entire purpose of claiming same day same pay. They're worse than anything. ** them! Go rob and steal, better for you...
I have worked for Labor Ready on and off ten years and the head of the Syracuse office (we will call him) has been there the whole time - he has always been rude and inefficient - he literally comes into office and does nothing and if you try to ask a question or have to ask for money they owe you, you may not get work for bothering this man. He sits in there and acts like a Work God or something and I personally have been on several jobs that require training and he will have you come in and sign your name on a document w/out actually having to do whatever test or training the customer paying for my service requires - It seems the organization is like this throughout the country? Everyone I talk to has same issues. So how are these people allowed to continue to do business this way? Seems like they should be out of business and in serious trouble? I think a class action lawsuit should be filed? Anyone know where to start?
Never a problem, great jobs, good pay, and ride friendly to jobs if you don't have own transportation. Good people to work for.
This is been going on for several months. Just keeps getting worse. It started out by I would sign up for auction the same time my friend would sign up and he would get called in for the auction but I went and but then they would send new people and I was experienced is this one for a while and so finally I took the same time I don't get new people for me. How does that work. Address it with the manager. I told her I have two important things. She scheduled an appointment with her. I go to the office and she's home for the day, does not say one word about the meeting. I really loss get paid every day, weekend get paid until Monday to get paid three to four times a day to try to get paid. The reason we do this job is because we need to get paid every day and we need to get money everyday that's why you take it I consider myself. They don't speak very educated. Half of a mental disability and other issues.
I certainly don't like calling in and having a ask to get paid every day 3 times 4 times a day do I get paid for half of the office until they pay me half the time. They say the hours I'm sitting right there when they're faxed over from the employer White Pages it's Friday and I come inside core 260 close at 6. I want to confirm the hours are going to pay me before you leave because I need the money and they're closed for weekend. So I call the manager on Sunday and tell her they did not pay me like they said they were and I need to get paid. Now she's mad because she has to go into the office on weekends to pay me. Who holds the said the manager says to me "You need to come into the office, do a compliance check for Darius at the auction." and I said why, is this the first time I've ever heard of this.
She said "You could just go in and Darius will explain it to you." then she text me an hour later and so just come in the office so I decide to the job never heard of it just like I thought. She had me do a drug test, said it was now required but I was the only one that had to take it, and probably one of the very few that is not on drugs? So manager is mad I passed. She obviously was trying to get me fired. But the job I work I basically got it by my performance and hard work not from Labor Ready that I made lots of money for that can't even pay you on time. Now I was threatened by the office staff because once again they are paying me when they feel like it, and lie to me and are constantly switching pay systems and time they will pay you daily without telling you.
Office said if I don't stop calling about getting paid I would not be going out on a job anymore. Are you serious. I go to my job without labor ready telling me I have worked out hours with employer labor ready only pays me when they feel like it. I worked Labor Day and New Year’s Day. I call office. They did not pay me holiday pay. It clearly states that people ready observes those as holidays. The labor ready office says "It's up to our discretion and we're not going to pay you." Are you kidding me. How unprofessional and so unappreciated of all the hours I work for them. They close down for one hour for lunch everyday! Are you kidding. What business closes for lunch. What a joke.
I consider myself one of the top employees with a brain that every employer will let me work as much as I want, treat me so disrespectful. Without us they would have nothing, and without the customer they will have nothing. A good business would treat their employees with respect and appreciate their work. It's only a matter of time and they will be no business. I think they changed names because all the bad name they had but changing their name will not save them. Employers think they are a joke and most of their people are drugies, felons. All the good people will be gone and none will want to hire who you have left from this. You can't treat people like that. Someone will stand up and word of mouth does big damage. That's just a bit of what I'm dealing with.
I worked for them for several months and still am. However, it's not been nearly two days since I worked and still am not paid. I needed items to repair my truck and when I was not paid on time, I had to use money I didn't have in my bank account (thus bouncing my account into the red). Now, I'm still not paid and every three days, $35 is taken out. What am I going to do when they stop taking money out of my account because the cap (around $200) has been reached? Will Labor Ready pay for it? No. But I will not work for them again if they do not offer to pay these fees. I will seek arbitration if it's not too expensive and if I can't do that, I will tell them to go do something to themselves I can't say here.
I worked for this company on a weekly pay ticket for a client/customer that I had no problems with. The client/customer was very nice and sent my pay information to PeopleReady on time. The problem is with PeopleReady! I am STILL waiting to be paid for work I did LAST WEEK! It is now Wednesday and I STILL haven't been paid! I have direct deposit instead of their Global pay card or whatever they call it because I don't want to pay for using the card. You would think that having your money directly deposited into your own back account would be easy but NOOO! I was told my money would be in my account on Monday--it wasn't. I was told it would be on Tuesday---it wasn't.
I finally went down to the PeopleReady office today (Wednesday) after finding out from my bank that my money was still not pending to be posted to my account. When I complained about it politely, I got treated rudely by some nasty, sarcastic woman who I won't name (she knows who she is) who told me I needed to be patient; that it would be ANOTHER 24-48 hours until I got paid; etc. I finally told her that's what she told me 3 days ago! I know this much: if I don't get my money by Friday, they will be hearing from my attorney! Evidently, if you don't use their pay card and instead choose direct deposit, you WON'T get paid on time. Do yourself a favor and spare yourself the hassle and find another temp agency to work for.
Head injury on job, first day, before 10:00 am Monday morning. The company that Labor Ready sent me to work for. A young man driving the big forklift carrying a pole the size of a telephone pole blindsided me in the head as I was walking to get out of the way further. Did not see it coming. On the ground, blood running down my face, the company did nothing. I called Labor Ready. The manager comes to job does nothing and leaves. Should have taken me to the hospital. I continue to work that day and the next. By this time I was in bad shape. Went to the ER, then Labor Ready to tell them, and were mad at me for going there and said I have to see their doctor, but they didn't want to send me at first. But finally did.
Doctor says I have a concussion. Labor Ready is trying to make do light duty work. And make me a offer of employment, and sign a paper. If I don't sign they say I cannot come there for work anymore. I don't go to work if am sick or have the flu. Why would I go to work with a head concussion??? I also had in the last wk, a couple of other job offers from better paying companies. Had had to turn them down. I shouldn't have went to work for this company. Labor Ready, a TrueBlue piece of dog doo.
Updated 3/11/2017 - Update, head injury. As I said in my first letter, was in ER, they said I had head concussion. Went to people ready doctors, then after they saw er report, then they said I had a concussion, and there was nothing they could do. But kept me coming to their, office, every week to ask questions. Gave me antidepressant pills and muscle relaxers, I didn't take it. They did not send me to get a CT, MRI, or anything, so I went again to er, to find out what was wrong with me, my head was pounding, my neck was killing me, and my upper back also hurt, had tunnel vision, ears ringing, dizziness, light headed, nausea, and more... The er says, that my brain was bleeding, acute subdural hematoma. I say "is that bad???" They say "yes you could die". I say "how long has this been doing this?" "Probably from the first wk, but didn't show on the first ct." So my lawyer says to show the people ready doctors this.
They were jumping around me trying to get me to sign papers and go to the trauma center, trying to cover their **. I told them I've already been to the trauma center doctor and I wasn't going to sign their papers, or continue to be ** around by them and that they needed to refer me to a Neuro clinic, Neurosurgery, and MRI. They finally did but, the insurance company adjuster has been playing with me also, I'm still going through this workman comp bs, and having to get my own care. If I depend on the company doctors, workman's comp who knows what I can end up with??? Don't trust the workman comp, or the company doctors. You could literally die, by the time you get proper treatment. Don't trust these crooks.
We used Labor Ready to get some temporary help on one of our jobs. We agreed on everything by phone and email, and gave them the job site address by both phone and email. They dropped off 2 workers to our office location instead, which is 15 miles away from the job where they were needed. The workers did not have their own transportation and did not make it to the job site. Considering this was already bad enough service, Labor Ready billed us for 4 hours show-up time for each worker.
We disputed the charge with them and they became very rude and obnoxious to people in our office during several harassing phone calls trying to collect money that is not due. We refused to be blackmailed and they sent the bill to a collection agency to continue harassing us in an attempt to extort money from us. We refuse to pay for services never received and will be contacting our attorney for action against these terrible people and their business if they do not cease and desist.
What a horrible experience I had with the Detroit office. I worked with 2 other offices but felt I was discriminated against by the Detroit office. I did not notice that I had not received a confirmation text because at that time they were sending out 20 texts a day. I showed up and my name was not on the list but I was told by the team leader to stay as she was short handed and she knew I was a good worker. I offered to leave but didn't. So when I did not get paid on Friday I contacted the Detroit office and was told that I originally did not get paid because I did not get the confirmation text. They did not submit the hours until I called the office.
Branch Manager accused me of trying to steal work from them which of course was not true. I stayed away from working for that branch for a few weeks. I decided to give the branch another chance and once again did not get paid until I contacted the branch via email. Majority if not all of the employees are ** and I am ** and filed a complaint with the head office who probably did nothing as I never heard back from them. I recently voiced my pleasure with the Detroit office via one of their texts and they objected to it and I feel they terminated me.
Don't even waste your time working with them. They messed up my work ticket sooooo many times. Dispatchers at the Fife office are soo rude. They put me on a work ticket that I wasn't even aware of and then suspended me for 2 weeks. They have this text messages that alerts you about jobs that needs to be filled but when you reply within seconds of the alert, it's already filled. They offered me 10-12 hours Monday - Saturday but come to find out it's only 4 hours a day. Don't waste your time. Go and look for a real job.
Labor Ready is a waste of any professionals, time, money and hard work! It is a first come, first serve agency. They send temp workers on assignments daily. They notify workers through texting. However workers never know if they were the first to respond to a job offer by text. It is up to the branch discretion who they want to choose from the incoming text and send that person out on an assignment. This is the problem!
Most locations operate on that favoritism method. The more you keep them happy, the more jobs you will get individually. Ways to keep them happy, complement their hair when you walk into the office, tell them your personal business, the more drama the better! It is very self explanatory to civilized people, why they changed their name from Labor Ready to People Ready. Additionally, my experience has been, if a job is more than a certain amount of miles away from your home, you are supposed to be offered a gas card to compensate the distance. This has not been the case, although customer service will clearly state the branch should be doing this for their employees. All this for less than California State minimum wage $10.50. No Thank you!
Just to go on record I have work for Labor Ready off and on the last 4 years trapeze company tour forever besides other companies out there. I just went back to work for Labor Ready my hometown. I was sent to a job knowing I was going to be shown how to do the job correctly by the company 12. The job's first night sat around waiting get to Precision or what machine to work on therefore I went to the machine. From there I was showing nothing to do correctly or how to do what I was supposed to do that night. I was frustrated and mad that I had no training Nobody tell me nothing. Do you have any help for an hour to? Then I finally had somebody help me but then a employee from the company came over and being with Mark which remark about me on the job I told the person this is my first night and I wasn't showing nothing correctly from there until I left a couple.
Left that night to go home from the job went to directly to Labor Ready office that morning after work. Explain to them what was going on and told them that I was not trained that showed nothing and I had rude employee from the company. They would March that night for no reason. Went back to work that night. Again same thing. No training and not sure what to do on the job. I have to ask questions all night long. Once were "Where were the products?" at "What was the other stuff for it?"
Finally I went back to work for the next 4 or 5 days same thing no training whatsoever help then they sent me to a different department the last night where job was much easier but the machine that we have gone with another guy half hour already home. Did the job, went home, come back the next night one o'clock and went to the other job and I was supposed to do set there and waited to do whatever job for 2 hours then told to go upfront with other people saying that to me "If you want to back set up for the bullpen or the cafeteria will you have an hour?" You told that there are too many people and I was cut and waited there in the cafeteria for an hour. I had to pay somebody to come out there and get me take me home tonight. Only work 3 hours at night.
Then finally the next morning Labor Ready called me to tell me that the job I was working for didn't need me any more. I asked the lady who told me about it she may have something you're interested in and I told her machines that they had back there only on or are not working correctly and I was doing whatever I had to do the work but didn't care or don't care. That's how everybody is there. Other companies that to go through they're all there for is the money and for a fact my last pay stub for two days pay was off are three hours off.
Call Labor Ready to complain leaves and I'll email the company and see what's going on. I'll wait until 4 hours later call him back but she never did and they said the paste-up was right. I said something wrong and you have to prove your friend so I told him off and never work again. So if my work experience from Labor Ready is don't work for them. They'll send you out to the shooting jobs no training whatsoever employee to employer to go through use you and not pay you correctly at all.
Let me be clear, if I could put 0 stars I would. Labor Ready is a joke. This is the most recent but not only problem I have had with this company but I'm writing this because enough is enough. I live in Phx AZ and I signed up for a job assignment on Thursday scheduled to start 6am Friday. Pay was minimum wage and the job description (as I was told) was to do general cleanup and maybe move some furniture. Cool, easy enough work for $8.05/hr right? But keep reading. I arrive at the job site right on time even with complications with GPS, as with Labor Ready jobs the addresses they provide rarely ever sends you exactly where you need to be but anyhow I called the client and was able to locate the area in no time.
As I walk onto the job site he tells me I will be climbing up this construction platform with my heavy steel toe boots and no support to keep me from falling about 3 stories high. I would also be leaning over on the already unsturdy platform with a dull box cutter trying to cut through thick plastic around the glass windows without falling to my death. Hmmm... Is $8.05 enough for me to ignore job description and risk my life? No. So after giving it the absolute best effort as I could (with my fear of heights) for an hour and a half I tell the boss I gotta use the crapper. He points across the street and says, "It's way down there." So I walk over there, use the bathroom, and call my ride to let them know I would try to stay but am probably going to need them to pick me up. Now I called the client off of my rides phone before I got dropped off at 6am so I was informed by my ride that the client called the number back looking for me.
I couldn't have been gone for any more than 6-7 minutes. MAX. So I tell my ride to come and I call the Labor Ready branch that I took the position from and inform them that this job is not what I signed up for and that I am not willing to do it especially for the amount of pay they are offering. But instead of the lady understanding and agreeing that the job description and client's orders don't match up at all, she tells me that I am on a 2 week suspension and that the client called her and that she had already replaced me. No more than 15 minutes had passed since I'd gone to the restroom. So I try disputing this with her saying it is unfair as this is not the job I signed up for and how I literally just left the job site as I was in the bathroom and told the client I was going to the bathroom she just says, "Ok." I say, "So what does that mean?" and try seeing if I'm even getting paid for the hour and a half I worked and she hangs up in my face.
Looking at the phone I start to get irritated and all rationality goes out of the window. I call back and tell her to never hang up in my ** face again. I was still talking and she does it again. So I call back and ask for her supervisor and after her stuttering and nervousness she finally tells me his name. Very unprofessional staff that works for this company. They do not care about you but rather place their clients on a pedestal and treat the workers like dogs. I will be calling her manager, their corporate office in WA and making sure I'm getting paid and that something is done about this supposed "2 week suspension".
I was dispatched to a job starting at 6:00 am this morning. I was told to call the branch when I was on my way. The job site was located on a very large and busy college campus. They gave me the wrong street address to start with, and when I called the branch, I was told to call the contact person. When I called the contact number, there was a message saying that if I was looking for the contact person, to call him on his cellphone. There was no cellphone number given. Then when I tried to leave a voicemail at that number, the voice mailbox was full. I tried calling the branch but kept getting the message center. So finally I left a message saying that I was going home. 1/2 hour later a text came up on the text alert system calling me out by name asking me why I didn't report to the job. Haha! Labor Ready is full of **, making a huge profit off of the backs of hardworking people for little or no money.
I have had full time work my whole life with no problem switching jobs. The economy was different. The laws were different too. Now I am working with felons high on drugs doing the same job I am, getting the same pay. I have a misdemeanor for kidnapping. How do you get a misdemeanor for kidnapping? It was all a lie anyways. Too many lazy people in authority. I was lazy too. I took the plea deal to go home to my car. Labor Ready provided me with jobs that kept me alive through the repo of my car, and I have seen so many sad stories. A felon can't vote but a felon can work? Minimum wage pay for jobs that you will lose if you don't "play the game" with those in that office branch that assign you, and those paying for the services.
If the client has to pay over $20 for your "insurance" and your warm body they will ask for the inexperienced ones so they can get you to hang drywall and drive machines and expose yourself to dangerous toxins and environments so they can get their monies worth. Labor Ready got me labor... ready. I learned from different trades. I traveled many miles away with no compensation for gas. I also learned that they don't care about you. Now they are changing the name to People Ready. What does it take to make people ready? Well, there are milestones in life in America and abroad.
One is as an adult, you go to the D.M.V. and get an I.D. and use it to drive so you can work. You register to vote there too if you like. And then you get a temp job. Labor Ready should allow access to the voter registration process if they want to live up to the name "People Ready". There needs to be a review of this "insurance" they ask for that is paid out because it seems to me there is some inside corruption taking place when I can't get a tetanus shot and have to pay out of pocket. They charge 15-22 dollars off of a 10 dollar temp employee. Everything is about money to our leaders and I know I can make MORE money selling ** to Labor Ready temp employees, but why add to the problem. Labor Ready needs more drug testing. But that adds to the problem too right? Money.
I didn't work for the money. I wanted to communicate with people and since I could trust no one because they are on drugs at work, I just studied the work, the actions taken. I had someone lie about me and was arrested and in emotional distraught and when I turned to Labor Ready (and MANY others who denied me), I wanted to find myself while in the service of others. I found that a great number of people are suffering and have no options left to them given the current laws so many people hide behind because immediate change just can't happen without every process on every level geared toward that change.
I fear that People Ready will be a failure to the community if they don't allow access to the voter registration process, and perform more drug testing while implementing new programs that have vision for a future of men and women in the workforce that will have to face the fact that ONE DAY, all of this will be built and cleaned up and then what task will there be left to perform? There needs to be opportunities made because I know Labor Ready makes money. Check your accounts every time. They will send you a receipt of funds but the funds won't be there. It happened twice to me already. I don't know if this was helpful to you, but go to school, learn a trade, and never stop working safely. I may have carpal tunnel in my right arm now from picking up all the slack. I met a lot of attitudes and they pushed me to be a much wiser person but distant as well.
I have worked with people that stand and sit around performing no work because they want that money. Wasting time feeling high, so they can get enough to buy some more drugs. WOW. A sense of urgency must be met, with no fear of "working yourself out of a job". The morale is low within the temp force and that needs help to change, but ** use while at work is depressing anyways so does that add to the morale? So I must be rambling on at this point. In closing I am grateful for this experience because it opened my eyes to the reality that we face and I hope if your reading this, you don't have limits in your life set by you because of race, or color or greed per hour or per salary.
Pray with your fellow man and don't get high. There is an attack on our memory currently in the forms of the Zika virus and Hillary Clinton erasing email scandal as well as Obama pushing to have our I.P. Addresses no longer protected by the U.S.A. Again money is the root of all evil, but when you're Labor Ready... will YOU be part of the problem...
I went to Labor Ready to get a job. I was locking up a BMX $600 bike on a water spicket. Went into Labor Ready. Told the lady I already signed up. Want to know if I was able to have a job or not? The ** lady was very rude. She gave me a piece of paper and said this is what you have to do to get into Labor Ready. I tried to tell her I already signed up. The Labor Ready on North East 23rd Street in Oklahoma City the people there are very rude. I didn't have anywhere else to lock up my BMX bike? How the ** do you people get a job at Labor Ready that works there beats the hell out of me.
I'm assuming the owners of Labor Ready likes to hiring rude and mean ladies especially colored people. And no I'm not a racist person! But the ** lady was very rude and mean. People out there these comments about Labor Ready they are very very true!! Two of owners of Labor Ready y'all need to hire nice people that take care of their clients. I'm from Louisiana and people in Louisiana are a lot nicer than people in Oklahoma. To the owners of Labor Ready you can go ** yourself.
I have a major issue with the Hollywood branch. I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm going to write everyone I can about this common issue we are having at this branch. The first time I ever worked at Labor Ready was in Jacksonville FL. I worked at the port doing 12 hr shifts before I get home or 1-2 hrs later I was paid. When I moved and went to the Hollywood Labor Ready, where do I start. The guy named Henry that's running the office needs help or need another job or something. The first day I worked at this branch was a nightmare. Worked at the port for 8 hrs. I signed out of work at 5 pm waited the whole day. Called the next morning. This guy Henry advised me that he did not have my social security number.
Now when I checked in it was at the branch. I advised Henry that I already worked for Labor Ready and I have my global card. Help me understand if you send someone on a ticket how you do not have all the info so we can get paid on time and efficiently. I had to call Henry everyday to remind him to pay me. Now I started work last night for off at 7 am. Did a 12 hr shift. Went to sleep, got up around 3:00 pm or so. Call the branch. Henry said they did not get the time in yet. Now it's late afternoon. Someone should be on top of this as a company to make sure all times are in the branch. He told me it will be ready by 6 pm. Told me that's what time he have to pay us. He might be right.
My thing is why wait to the last min to take care of business. This makes no sense to me at all. It should not take that long to put time in. I'm going to write everyone I can to fix this issue. That branch needs new people who can take care of the employees and the employer. It should not even have to go this far. I would love it if you can get a respectable response in a timely fashion. Thanks for your time a patience for taking the time to read this.
I've noticed that the Labor Ready in Plano, TX only picks the same people over and over. It's a thing called favorites. I would understand if I didn't know what I was talking about, but I do. Only because I have a family member that works for them and he has been working for them for a year now. So it's sad, real sad that the new people looking for work won't get any, no matter how hard they reply to the text.
OK it's true if you work your skin to the bone, and don't mind your pay being every other day for what is advertised as daily. From well qualified seemingly being overlooked by dispatchers because someone else relates to that dispatcher better than the qualified candidate... to the branch Manager saying if a referral of clients is done bonuses will be awarded and turn out there is no awards for your efforts, just one bottle of water on the hottest day of the season... (read in between the lines if you will sir or ma'am.) But my biggest problem with these people that ride on our backs and make a profit say you'll get let's say 11 dollars an hour. The customer pays them 22 dollars an hour.
I get it, they are providing insurance if a worker injures himself or someone else or damage a client's property etc but I haven't seen it happen. But what really gets me is this pay system they implemented about 4 months ago. One of LR motto's is work today, get paid today. Partly true. You can get off of work at 3:30 and at least twice a week your pay will be deposited six hours later and sometimes as late as 2:00 pm the next day.
Not only that the pay center where you could call and check the status of your deposit for the money you earned you used to get a customer service oriented rep explaining that the Vaseline you just lubed up with was actually gorilla glue.... After time another rep would get tired of all the calls flooding in and would be snappy and rude to people calling for status up dates about again (their hard earned money).
Now if you call the phone number provided by TrueBlue for the payroll center you get a recording explaining the subscriber you have dialed is not in service. It just baffles me that you get treated like ** by the people who it seems like you are keeping the lights on for but you have trouble keeping your lights on because interest is being collected because your money sits in their account longer than the hours you work for that day. The customers don't even like this third world pay system that's in place. And I bet all staff of Labor Ready get their pay as it die on time every time.
Had problem with employee Harold at the ST. PETERS location even before I knew who he was. I once needed some information. Told me his name was Billy and hung up on me. Deleted a job assignment from my phone. Called Labor Ready. Of course he answered and asked him to send the info again for the ticket. I was put on. He never did had to contact the office again and talk to someone else. I think her name is Venessa. She sent it right to me. Didn't know me turning down this man/woman sexual advances would result in me, be disrespected and banished. This employee should not be allowed to asked clients for date while working especially after I told him I was straight. End of discussion.
My husband and I being working on and off with Labor Ready for years now off and on... myself I do anything I can do so I can support my son but when you work eight hours and only get 28 dollars something is up with that. Anyways my husband is a very hard worker and he can do anything and I believe the highest he got paid was 9 dollars a hours and that was hanging drywall. Anyways these people say they help you out. That's not what I get out of it. They just say they do because you get paid everyday and it's not worth it. You work your ** off and get paid very little. They make anywhere from 10 dollars to 28 dollars I believe and the most you will make is 10.
Anyways they were making us drive our car 100 to 150 miles a day with driving other people to the job and they only pay you 10 to I think 20 which pays for your gas but don't pay for your time or driving everybody that can fit in your car to the job helping them make money when it's putting wear and tear on your car. Anyways we just worked on Saturday night at race track and we was supposed to get paid Monday. It's now Wednesday and we still didn't get paid...
So if you can find a different job do it but if you must work and you can't find nothing then do it. Myself will never work for them again. I will rather have nothing than to get treated like ** and not paid what am worth and help them make money sitting on their ** treating others like they are a waste of life. Thanks for reading my comment and take it from me don't waste your time. You're better than that to work there. Go to work at mcdonald's or something like that before you go there.
Only use labor pools as a last ditch solution. The time you spend working for ** wages and the worst working conditions and the least desirable jobs could be (and should be) spent looking for a full time job with benefits for a decent employer. I know these are harder to come by as American employers seem to think that providing a working wage and full time work you can build a life around isn't important anymore. If you are on unemployment use that time and opportunity to find a job you really like and can stick with, not some endless nightmare of broken promises, lies, and employment office employees who have no clue what you are going thru. If your unemployment insurance has run out, try juggling a labor pool while you continue to look for a REAL job. Unless of course all you want is a ** job working with undesirables for a few hours a week. Then the labor pool is just right for you.
I am writing to say that although there are some flaws in the company, there are recruiters there that really are excellent and make the experience worthwhile. There are one or two who really stand out and care about their people. I give those recruiters five stars.
Labor Ready has a few great recruiters. Labor Ready also has recruiters that are either consistently misinformed or just lying, I hate to say, about specifics about the jobs they send out. There is information that isn't given about job sites and locations, like the correct contact person, or the right address, or how many hours you are really going to be working. Either it is a reoccurring oversight, or they need to fill jobs so they beef up the hours so they will get a responses. It seems that they must make commission or gratuity on the amount of staff booked. And you aren't told you are working under contract. Meaning you have a # of contract hours that are to be fulfilled before a company can hire you. That number is constantly changing or being renegotiated without any discussion of said contract to temp employees. You may die here before you ever get hired on. Dead end job.
I work then I dont get paid on time. Im sick of this. Pay me on time.
Do not hire work help from Labor Ready in Riverside, you will regret it. The two girls there Valerie and Martha don't know what they're doing, and don't care
I needed two guys for a job to last 4 hours. One guy left after only one hour saying he was just coming out of a flu and had to go, whatever that guy had was contagious because 30 minutes later the other dude tells me he had a call from his kid's school telling him she needed to get pick up. I told both guys to call Labor Ready so they know what's going on, expecting they will do something. After the second guy left I get a call from labor ready, was Valerie asking if I needed another guy, I asked her can you get someone else right now? It's already 9:30, so I told her let me know, call me back so we'll see. I had to do the job by myself, and that was a hot day and the work was digging. It's probably why these dudes bailed on the work.
But at around 12:30 another guy shows up saying was sent by Labor Ready, I said "whaat? I'm almost done". So I called LR told them "it's too late now, you never called me", and Valerie or Martha said "ok dont worry about Joe". She said "I tried calling by 12 but you weren't picking up your phone". Of course not by 12 noon I wasn't expecting a call anymore, and I'm not gonna pick up the phone to chat to a customer, when I'm trying to get out of the heat myself, and finished this. She said "don't worry about it Joe", but come Monday they charged me for all 3 dudes, 2 hours each, and one dude just for showing up and when I didn't even authorize them to send him.
So I called them very upset, she didn't care, she was like whatever. That is a very bad attitude, dishonest, and whatever money they think they got out of me they will lose on the long run because I'm never hiring any labor work from them again, there's other labor agencies. I also called their corporate office customer service but they never offer to give me any money back, do not hire from Labor Ready.
DO NOT WORK FOR LABOR READY IN DENVER or AURORA! They are the worst possible staff In history... period. Aurora office is incapable of communication. If you are looking to hire contracted laborers go elsewhere to avoid a hideous experience. You will have all type of complaints from problems. They DO NOT pay on-time and every job I worked for through these 2 offices the people complain who hire.
I've been working at labor ready for 4 months and it start off good. But for 1 the pay is ridiculous and the staff has their favorites. I had to be off because of a family death and called and let them know but since I've been back they have been rude and they won't work me. The girl in the morning Rosemary told me not to call back or come in and if she decides she wants to work me she'll contact me and then hung up on me. Rosemary flirts with every guy who comes in there and if you do flirt back you don't work. I'm sorry but I'm got a wife. I'm there to work not hook up. So I advise anyone thinking about going to labor ready I wouldn't STAY AWAY. The company is not trustworthy at all.
My company used Labor Ready for the first time this week. Based on their website they assure that they have quality workers who are drug tested and verified. We asked for eight workers and only four arrived. No warning from the Labor Ready that we would be short 4. The first to show up was getting high in front of the office. The rest showed up at whatever time they pleased. Due to the snow storm we understood that they may be late. The final one showed up two hours late.
We told Labor ready we needed workers for eight hours three stayed for four hours then left. One worker disappeared after two and we are stuck with paying for him for the minimum four hours. One worker was worth the time but left due to personal reasons. This business is unorganized and untrustworthy. Every worker asked our management when and how much they would get paid. Seems like something Labor Ready would let them know. A few walked away with the shovels we provided. We Will tell every management company I know to hire off of Craigslist.org. You will probably get better results. Not pleased at all with this company.
I constantly have to call and beg for my pay on many jobs. Some staff at the office on New Circle RD in Lexington, Kentucky are extremely rude. The staff seems incompetent to me.
This company is the biggest joke of a company I have ever encountered in my life! This Amanda woman who works there is a very rude and ignorant person. I have worked for Labor Ready for around 9 months all at a car auction for $7.25 an hour and when I started it seemed like a great job. The people at the auction were and are extremely nice and wonderful people and I was able to work as much as I wanted which usually was between 40-45 hours per week. Then after this February the transportation director at the auction was starting to cut people's hours and he liked my work ethic and wanted to hire me for the auction many times but I opted to stay at Labor Ready in Greensburg PA.
Well one day he decided to tell everyone he was cutting all the non full-time employees to 28-30 hours per week but he came up to me and pulled me aside he would give me 39 hours per week but if I go over that he would cut my hours down to 28/week. So I decided to start looking for a better paying job because mind you at $7.25 at 28 hours per week is not worth it! So about a week and a half later the transportation director got fired and my job search was going well as I landed a landscaping job for $11 per hour and I would be guaranteed to get around 50 hours a week and also to get on jobs that pay $28 per hour.
I also have an extensive history in landscaping/hardscaping/construction, but I wanted to also work for the car auction on the days we didn't work or got rained out. The reason being because there were 3-4 other employees who worked the auction 1-2 days every 2-3 weeks and their other job the other days with nothing being said and no trouble from Labor Ready. So I have been working this landscaping job for a month now and last Monday, April 4th, 2016 we got rained out so I went to the auction and they wanted me to work for the day and asked me to stay so I did. Well Labor Ready didn't pay me for that day on Friday so I waited and called this morning (4-11-16) and this young woman April was very nice and said she would get me my money, and I mind you I told Labor Ready numerous times of working the landscaping job mainly and working the auction on my off days or rained out days.
Later on in the same day I get a call from this mean ugly nasty person named Amanda who demanded I tell her what's going on and what's going on in my life and whatnot and she started arguing with me and wanted me to work only for them. And when I told her "why is it ok for other employees at Labor Ready to work the auction once every three weeks and another job the other days but as soon as I do it I get singled out" and she told me was no one at Labor Ready doing what I just described and that I was a liar, even though I worked with these people and became friends with them, and they still hadn't paid me so I told her to shove the job up her **!
She called back about an hour later and asked me to tell her the names of those employees and I told her I thought there was no one else working two jobs and to go ** herself and hung up! Why would I quit the landscaping job where I'm making $1,100-$2,400 every two weeks for Labor Ready's measly $480-$500 every two weeks!?! MOREOVER LABOR READY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS EMPLOYEES AND IS A TERRIBLE COMPANY TO WORK FOR. So do yourself a favor and stay away!!!
I'm currently working out of the Labor Ready office in Saint Peters Missouri. Yesterday there was several jobs put thru. I replied to a few, got no answer back. Until I took the one I'm currently on. And it's a joke, Labor Ready policy is for us to contact them if doing something not on the work order. Well I've contact twice and haven't heard anything back. I think I'm being punished 'cause I've had a few no returns so now they're only giving me the crap jobs. This is freaking unbelievable and I've had legitimate reasons for these jobs. I'm sorry, I'm raising my 4 year son by myself cause his crack head mom is in prison for the next 20 years.
I came to Pueblo CO in December 2015. I Sat in this office day after day and wasn't sent out. They have this same group of people that come in every day that they use for whatever tickets are being sent out. I was sent out twice but only because a friend of mine wanted me included on the ticket. The woman at the front desk likes my friend, so I got put on the ticket for two different jobs. If, however I come in by myself, I never get sent out. This woman plays favoritism. I have just seen this over and over. She talks to the ones she likes, those people get sent. I get nothing. If you are not from Pueblo, DON'T COME HERE and don't bother with Labor Ready. If you're not part of the clique, you not going to work.
I was new with Labor Ready so I was green as grass. I was sent to a car auction as a driver. I had to be there by 7:30 AM. Being a very responsible person I arrived early @ 7:10 AM. At the auction the guard told me my name was not on the list so he could not let me in. Later I found out drivers had to meet in a church about 1/2 a block down the street. Then a couple of days later I was sent to another auction. I checked at the desk inside. The girl told me she was not the one who checked me in and to just go sit and wait. The Labor Ready person never came to me. Naturally I had no idea what she looked like. The girl behind the desk came to me about 45 min.later, said to go to lane 6. I asked her didn't she need my name?? She said to just give it to the lane boss. I did. Then a few days later I called LR because I was not paid. They informed ME I didn't check in so they didn't show me as THERE.
I went back to the Puyallup office the next day. I asked them why they didn't explain to NEW people what to do. This Teressa got all up in airs, told me "others had no trouble figuring it out." I told her I didn't appreciate her attitude toward me. She told me she didn't care for my attitude either. I then told them to take me off their list. Today I was supposed to work an auction from another LR office. I got called at 6AM and told I had been fired by the Puyallup office. Therefore I could not work.
When I went to Labor Ready, the Staff were professional in every way. I am skilled in many trades and was dispatched to a job that day... An hour later I was back in the office. Upon arriving on the job site and speaking with the supervisor, I was directed to and charged with completing an Electrical Panel installation and terminating all the electrical wires to the appropriate breakers (it looked like a lot of work). I of course refused and was somewhat angry that the supervisor and the staff at Labor Ready actually expected me to work. I should not be obligated to work just because I need money... The world owes me a living (a good one).
I will not return to Labor Ready until this flaw in their work policies have been corrected.
I had a job to go to at the cowboys stadium. When I accepted the job, I was in Port Arthur, TX coming back home to Dallas, when my radiator blew up. I called 4 times to get no answer, so I texted the job and explained what had happened and apologized for the inconvenience. Now mind you I gave a 5-hour notice, which I felt was way enough time. However we, my grandbabies and I and my husband, Sat on the side of the road until our daughter pick us up and pull the car back. We made it home around 7:30 pm. Margretta calls me around 7:50 pm asking me was I still coming, I told her I had texted her on my job alert to inform her. She was very nasty, did not want to hear what I had to say. She proceeds to say that's what everyone had told her. I explained that I'm not everybody. Every job site I go to, I'm always on time, never tell her I'm not coming, I'm there.
I feel I done everything I was supposed to do, but she used her position to have me suspended because she was mad at everybody else. And for Labor Ready to allow this kind of behavior from their staff is just wrong. I called the hotline. Someone was to contact me, I'm still waiting... I've been with this company for many years. It's the holidays and my grandbabies have to suffer because of One Unhappy Soul. I have lost all respect for this company and its staff on Irving Blvd. Dallas Texas. Molly on Manana Labor Ready, needs to take over the whole show. Margretta is rude and unkind, and very vindictive. She needs to re-evaluate her personality and her job. And I am still waiting to hear from investigator... Labor Ready Y'ALL Have Let Me Down. SMH.
I have been registered with Labor Ready for about 2 years and when I go in-between jobs Tammy will only send out people she likes. They have a contract with the Walmart store in Leesburg, FL and she refuse to tell people about this position. I had to find out from the store manager. I then called Tammy to confront her about the lie she had told. She then stated that I could not go because I needed still toe boots. Mind you this job does not require you to have them. She is a miserable person and needs a career change.
I had moved from West Palm Beach back in September, and was working in Labor Ready. A week later I started out in Apopka then did Forsyth for a few weeks. Trouble start around October 9, 2015 when the manager was picking an argument for harassment with a staff member and the next day I got trespassed for making her nervous and I'm autistic. Then about a month later got trespassed in Apopka. I felt discriminated against because of my autism and they said that on Forsyth the people were complaining about my communication but I'm autistic. I can't do nothing about it. I'm there to work not pick fights or start fight. Certain people don't understand me. Its a matter of my autism. You're start discriminating if you don't send me out for a job I'm fit to do because of how I communicate. That's not playing safe, be careful if you choose Labor Ready.
I have experience discrimination in the workforce staff at Labor Ready. I am elderly and they don't give me any work because all of the jobs have been given to new hires, migrants who have false documentation, and they do favor for their friends and family. They give them the jobs over everyone else. They don't have fair hiring practices and they want me to work digging holes, sign holding in a 104 degrees, and they want me to lift 75-100 lbs. And when I check into work, they have job postings. They don't call me back except to their convenience when no one else wanted to show up.
Rudeness and personal contacts with The lady who sends you out - When they don't personally like you you're treated as though this is her business. I've been signup since April and wasn't sent on the job hired for. She's rude with much attitude. Have been coming back and forthcoming. Only been on one job where the job asked me to return. She never sent me back... I don't think being personal is a job option. I planned on reporting this to the department of labor. I've been here today since 5:25 am. Someone offered me their ticket and I still wasn't sent out. Unbelievably I'm not here for friendship. I'm qualified for that job. I'm sitting here watching them call people for simple jobs but I'm here already with a utility truck and tools.
They are no good. Called and told them had an interview for a job and they terminated me for that.
They threatened my life. Bad company to work for. Or bad for the contractors using them. They should close them down in every state.
My name is Patryk and because of the timing and certain changes we made during our corporation, I was the one who personally opened an account with labor Ready in your Denver, CO. region. During that time I called in hours as well as placed orders for your services. I have two issues 1) your net policies and collecting procedures 2) over time. It was agreed that we would be paying on construction industry NET 30-90 standards, at time of the account and I never was made of or agreed that we would pay overtime for any of your services. At one point when I saw the invoices, we we're made aware that all of a sudden you do and I specifically told your collection office to tell your field office to not send our employees over 40 hours period. At that point it was only a few hundred dollars and I had agreed to compromise and pay.
Well, someone didn't get the memo, and within the next few billing cycles, I got charged close to 1500$ overtime. I placed the orders for the work but I had specifically asked not, to put the same worker on the job. I'm frustrated because I don't have time to drive out to the job and cross reference every one of your employees and their hours, argh. So I am disputing the overtime on all my invoices to date.
The major issue I have is with your collection department. We recently had an issue where two land developers and two investors merged. An oversight was made which caused a lapse and an additional 30 day billing cycle to occur, Argh. Tell me about it. We're talking major money on top of an already gigantic overhead. The labor ready was a very small portion. During this hiccup, several email and phone communications were made that we would pay off the invoices in full at time of payment. At some point our account was passed over to a lady named Pam. During the past week while banking matters and technical issues were resolved, I was receiving semi harassing communication after communication over the payment.
I literally moved mountains to clear a hold 3 days early to pay Sherry 9.5k. To take the pressure off. When I had asked for an extra few days to get the rest of the 2100$. All I got was an attitude that I was causing disservice and that I may have been semi taking advantage when in all actuality I am a great client with a good track record and well connected to investors/developers. All my projects are lienable real high dollar developments. I feel that there was no need to have been overly harassed for these invoices which by the way have all been paid in full, exactly as I promised your people and basically just over the loving limits of a Colorado construction industry NET standard. I will send this email to the highest level of management, until I get some kind of resolve and explanation to these issues.
My fiance and I worked for the Tri County branch in Cincinnati Ohio for two months. I loved it at first. We would both reply to the same text, go to work together and be paid the same day. Then one day I was shorted about $20 on my pay card and called to try to get it fixed. After several long phone calls it never was and I let it go because I liked the assignment I was on and it had never happened before. But after that Pat and Alisha both started being incredibly rude to me and my fiance. Being short with us, telling me that I couldn't go on jobs with my fiance because I wasn't strong enough. (I am small but I had already proven I was able to lift 70+ lbs, no problem).
A few weeks later my fiance got in a car accident and a shard of glass from the windshield went into the side of his neck, barely missing his throat. He was in ICU. I called BEFORE we were scheduled to start our job that day to tell them we wouldn't make it. They called me back several hours later and told me I was a no call no show since they didn't listen to messages before sending someone else out on the assignment and told my fiance being in the ICU was no excuse for me not to come in to work and that I should have been in that day. They then said neither one of us could work for any Labor Ready branch again as we were "unreliable" even though we had never been late or absent before.
Bill from Labor Ready in Allentown has a bad attitude toward me the employee. He ask if I wanted to work on a garbage truck. I said no then he gave me an attitude.
I have been working with Labor Ready off and on for 6 months. What really upsets me about them is that they play with your money. You do the work on Wednesday and here it is Friday and I still have not got paid. The workers in the office makes careless mistakes and it affects your pay, say for example by putting the wrong day on a ticket will result in you not getting paid. Or by they messed up text messaging service where you reply to a job and the Labor Ready person don't put your name on a ticket and you do the work not knowing your name not on the ticket like the Labor Ready worker said it will be. I will not ever work for them or recommend anyone to them sincerely. Still waiting on her money.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to work for Labor Ready. When I first went into the office in Belleville, Illinois I right away found them to be very rude. I recently went on a job for them for the first time. I worked ten hours for a moving company, moving hundreds of tables and chairs from an event (October fest). I was told that the job paid daily. I didn't receive any money on my card for it at all so I decided to contact the office.
The St. Peters Missouri branch is the one that sent me on the job. I was told that because other Labor Ready employees was going to work there for the remaining of the week that I would have to wait until the end of the week to receive my pay from the job that I've worked. It has now been a whole week and I haven't receive a penny for the ten hours that I've worked. I have even taken a picture of my time card and brought it to the branch. My next step is to contact a labor commissioner. This company is very unprofessional, and I don't understand how they're still open. Haven't seen not one good reviews.
Went on a job assignment August 8, 2015 and the assignment was supposed to be for two weeks. I went to lunch at 12 and when I return the assignment was over because a co-worker disrespected a manager. Went back to discuss with the ladies at the office and they agreed with the irate employees. The two employees spoke racial comments toward the managers using profanity. The ladies behind the counter justified their actions with this answer: They know their rights and asked us if there was a fight would we join in the fight? I replied "I will not fight over stupidity."
There's nothing but Latinos/Mexicans work there. They discriminate on females but cater to the men. I guess they think they can screw them particular Ericka that works there. Very bad attitude and very sloppy with the paperwork. She makes you wait as if she's Hella busy. I take it management - won't ever do anything just wanna those bad companies. But not all locations are like this. But who wants to waste their gas all the time. There is also favoritism as well. Sounds like a class action suit as well. Labor Ready is a great company. It's who they hire!
My name is Phyllis Ann ** and fired from Labor Ready temp service for reasons unknown. I did not have a return ticket and I call in and told them I would not be there due to an injury to my face.
I called, left messages leaving my phone number about 3 times because I had problems getting into the application online. I did not get a call back so I decided to go in person. I was wearing a scrub top and the older lady sitting in the front ask me where did I work when I addressed that I could not access the application. Her look was not friendly. She said to me I have to have a car. I said to her that I know things have changed but not that much. I told her that me and my daughter shared a car and that I also have a friend that was helping to transport people to locations with her. Went back down there after calling the grievance line and call back to be told after giving me a confirmation number and a password, no reply. What kind of business are they running. I was asked to come back by many employers on most of the job sites. What can the matter be.
About a month or two ago I was working for two employers - One of those being Labor Ready. Well I has a car problem to where I was set back on my other employers schedule therefore forcing me to call into Labor Ready and canceling my schedule appearance. During that call to whoever I spoke to through dispatch was not only rude but obviously think that there job is to be a manager when they are just secretaries handing out assignments. Anyhow this person was not only rude but ever since this discussion with this so-called person I have not had any assignments. Every time I try to text in for work the spots have been filled. When I've answered immediately not only do these people choose who they wish to work through favoritism and who they obviously resent for whatever reason, but also blackball people whenever they feel it's their duty or right to do so.
I have been employed with Labor Ready since April of 2013 off and on and never have I had such a problem until moving to the ie. Whoever is responsible for Upland/Fontana/Corona branch dispatches is obviously taken it upon themselves to pick and choose who they think should work and not according to availability or who comes first but who they like and haven't had any discussions with. I feel discriminated against whether it's to my race my looks or just me having had a discussion with just a secretary nothing more is besides me. I have not had any employment no matter how much I try to be the first to answer. I've even gone to the office and then been canceled at the time I thought it was a honest mistake. Now I am beginning to think it was on purpose. Discrimination in the work place for any reason is not only wrong but against the law.
I have had a problem with the payroll for the last two weeks. I had my child support payment lowered to 200 dollars a month and they keep taking money out of my check for it after they have taken 210 dollars out of my first paycheck of the month. I can't seem to get a hold of the payroll department to talk to them about this and am getting very angry that I work all these hours and get little money on my check to show for it. They are only suppose to take 46.00 dollars a week out of my checks in the first place.

You want to be treated fairly do not work at the Labor Ready in Huntington West Virginia at number 4 Bonnington Way. Unless you plan on kissing Queen Ashley's **. You will not be sent out on work experience. You will be sent out based on how well she likes you. She does not like you expect to get the crappiest jobs and sent the farthest from the agency. For example they want to send me a hundred miles away to work. Even though for 2 weeks I requested closer assignments due to family emergency. When I refused to go on the assignment I was suspended. I'm new to the area and did not know how far away it was. So the excuse was used that I turn down an assignment I agree to go on. It is ridiculous how you are treated so go to a company that will care about its employees like manpower. If not you will live under the rule of a tyrant like Ashley.
On or about 6-8-2015, about 5:30 pm ** an Labor Ready employee, left her co-worker in charge of paying their customers for work completed for T&B EQUIPMENT CO. INC. That female Hispanic person was the only personnel for pay-out. This female first of all didn't follow ** instructions on how much was the pay rate and eventually paid me a less hourly wage than ** instructions. When I brought this error to her attention, she told me to wait a minute, after she paid 5 or 6 other workers I asked her was she going to correct my paycheck? She got angry with me and yelled "wait! Why are you crying over a quarter anyway damn?!" I said "because I'd worked for it". She still didn't assist me. After I'd left I received a text showing that the paycheck was corrected, but she took it upon herself to ban me from working for that office of Labor Ready and cancelled my text alerts for available jobs from Labor Ready.
It's not the work. I enjoy meeting and working for different people. It's the paying part. I can turn in paperwork to be paid and it takes 2 hrs. or more to get the money you worked for put on your card. Worked Saturday and it was Monday at 1:45 PM before I got paid. I don't understand WHY??????
Labor Ready now has a text alert system that is very unreliable. I have responded to many work texts and am lucky if I get called on 1 of 100 texts. To make things worse, sometimes I do get a call. It's usually from a Latin man who finds any excuse he can to not give me the job, even by telling me it requires protective gear I do not own to exclude me when it really does not. It's funny because I am probably the highest educated person working for Labor Ready. Because of this, I feel like I should have choice pick over street thugs.
What is going on? There is a radio station here Latino 96.3 that always says "96.3, the Latino Takeover!" This clues me in on why it is so hard to find work here in CA. The Latinos will tell you an application is online when it is not, that they are out of applications but never even look for one, etc. Think about it, when was the last time you were ever interviewed or hired by a Latino? This is because once they make management, they only hire their own.
In my time working at Labor Ready I've meet a lot of good and bad people that worked there trying to make move to better themselves in their way or be content in their situation. It's really hard when you're doing the right things and they're playing mind games when all you're trying to do is put food on the table for your family the best way you can. At this branch I've seen a lady that's boss belittle, use, threaten, and misuse people on a regular basis there.
But not only does she discrimination against people, she uses stuff against them from their past to control them. There a young man in his early 40 that she's done this to. She recently got a apartment upstairs above the office where she manipulates him from time to stay upstairs with her and if he doesn't she threaten him with no work. Workers around get the back lash from this as well. People say all the time to him "how's your women" and you can tell it bothers him. It a shame this guy getting treated this way. This lady got to be stopped. (Albany, NY branch)
The one specific lady ** is extremely rude and is no help. They owe me a 500 dollar check in back pay for a job I did and I have yet to owe it. I've called everyday and asked if there's any progress and she tells me "we should see some progress in the next couple days." She ride every time I talk to her on the phone and I'm struggling enough and now I'm not getting the money I worked for.
I'm very disappointed in the new pay policy. Since it change to where we have to email or fax pay slips in it still take sometimes a day for pay deposits. It was better before this change.
Local Union 338 was voted in 18 months ago and did absolutely nothing for its members with the exception of the shop stewards. As a result the staff and myself voted them out of our work place. They have lied, made promises, and harassed many of us to get their vote. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone and would beware of them. They are only looking to have you pay your dues in an effort to get rich. A bunch of crooks.
My wife works for Labor Ready. The office found out she's pregnant and she got really sick. She missed two days of work for Walmart remods in Elmira NY. They fired her for being pregnant saying Walmart didn't want her. Walmart didn't know she was even pulled from the job and was expecting her back. ** the manager was pissed when they found out my wife was pregnant and now has fired her. We are filing a law suit against this God forsaken company. They need to be shut down!
I walked in the San Angelo Texas office this morning and wow did I get some racial ** from the ** behind the counter. I find it to be convenient that corporate won’t answer my calls... I have personally worked for this true blue ** many times and it’s so ** phony. I tried to reach ** the big ** in charge and I'm not important enough for him to talk to, so now it's off to the labor board. What I witnessed this morning was a "Mexican" thing, and here is how it goes. I ask for an app. She hands me this piece of paper and states “go online” HOWEVER the Mexican sitting to my right has a paper app. and she’s putting him on board. We're not done with this ** by no means so maybe the right channels will get this MEMO and correct this situation. BYE.
I called Labor Ready in Elgin Il. I spoke to a woman that said she was the branch manager her name was **. She lied to me about them being insurance and about the men having experience. I had 2 men come to move couches and by the time they left 2 hours later that should have taken the most 45 minutes they ripped my leather couches and broke the door frame by forcing the couches through the door. I also have pictures of them destroying my couch and door frame When I called ** she told me that there was nothing she would do about my couches I was suppose to be supervising them better which makes no sense I was not the movers. This company is a real rip off and now I have to retain a lawyer. The couches were $4500 and now destroyed by these men. You people don't belong in business. They rip off the consumer.
They busted my brand new Tv that they weren't supposed to touch and when I reported it to Labor Ready, I was treated like a criminal. Her understanding from the worker was he never touched it, and none of the other employees saw it so I'm wrong. I didn't see the damage until later in the evening, so in her eyes I'm lying. I called the office numerous times and reported her worker's behavior and him walking off the site. I have used Labor Ready on 5 different occasions and never reported any breakage or problems, but I guess the only time I report something cause of the high value, I get the cold shoulder. Still waiting for the market manager to call me!!!!
I the writer of this posting complaint works for an agency named Labor Ready, located in Brooklyn. This agency sends clients out to the work fields, and most of the work consist of very hard labor, with very long hours, including weekends, days and nights. Some of these shifts are graveyard, and the pay wage is mostly the same, $8.75 an hour. The minimum wage that they continuously pay each client registered with their agency. It is upon information and belief, that Labor Ready establishes contracts with respected potential employers, including large corporations offices that agree to pay Labor Ready wages of $18.00 /$20.00 dollars an hour for each job performed on fields. But only pay the employees the minimum wage. Nearly half of the wages that the respected employers agreed to are being pocketed by Labor Ready.
I understand that yes, they do assist minorities with employability, but by the same token, take enormous advantage of the clients who effectively put in the extreme labor by paying them just the minimum wage of $8.75 an hour. In addition to this, they do not provide carfare nor they even feed their clients who are required to be at their respective branches by 6:30 am. On top of this all, Labor Ready also requires that work tickets have to be picked up at branches and returned to branches after each and every assigned jobs.
If we were to calculate this value of transportation in sum, including the to's and from's to the assigned jobs, places all work clients in great burden. No time and a half for work assignments for nights and late weekend shifts known as graveyard shifts; which in fact, are being payed out in great valued wages to Labor Ready, by their corporate and non-corporate customers. And continuously pay out the minimum wages to the Labor Ready work clients. Should there be a Labor Law that prohibits these agencies from taking advantage of the city, and of course, the indigent minorities who put in all the effective work? How is anyone in this city supposed to even survive this economic state in this condition? There must be some solution, and I as an American Citizen demand an answer. Thank you for your respected time and anticipated reply.
I hired Labor Ready to unload a truck. 30 minutes into the job one of the employees out of two walked off for the next 3 hours. I heard someone is on the way no one showed up until 10 minutes to 7. The truck I had had to be returned by 7 o'clock and they were aware of this. They charged me 300 $31.80 when my total bill was 66 dollars and 36 cents and I have yet to be refunded. Also due to their employee walking off of the job and not getting someone else right away I ended up having to pay another hundred and thirty dollars for the truck being late. The company holds no account for the actions of their employees nor have they made any attempts to refund my money to me or to compensate me for the additional money I had to pay for the truck. They are a horrible company and I would never recommend them to anyone for anything. I have been hearing for 4 days someone will call you back and I have yet to hear from anyone.
How can Labor Ready pay $8.15 an hour for a worker but they get paid $20 an hour for a person to work the account? lol. They get $12 an hour for sitting on their **. They never answer phones and the jobs are back breakers. You can't go to the repeats because you have no gas and they'll pay you the next day (lazy). They lie all the TIME saying they didn't get your fax but the paperwork is sitting right in front of their face = laughable. All of the Michigan offices are real DIRTY and looks like a CRACK HOUSE. They're very unprofessional. **, the supervisor in the Westland Michigan office is a liar. He send you to jobs with the wrong address and when you call, he don't answer the phone.
I'm sitting on the side of the road trying to call SLAVER READY. He tells me he will pay me $20 in gas pay to travel 50 miles for a job to get me there. But once I get back to their office with my ticket, he left for the day and wrote in the COMPUTER to pay me only $10 in gas pay. Then argue with me for 10 min on the phone telling me he didn't say he was going to pay me $20 in gas pay (liar)... lol.. DO NOT EVER WORK FOR THIS COMPANY EVER.
I called in about a job and the woman answered and said that line was for emergencies only and got very rude. Before it was over with this angry woman was trying to argue with me. To beat it all she tried to fire me. She doesn't have that say so. This angry woman even took my phone number and my wife's phone number out of their computer so we couldn't get job alerts. Little does she know we still work for labor ready and complaints have been filed with corporate office. This angry woman does not deserve a job like she has. Staff like her is why people don't want to work for labor ready.
I swear the Tallahassee branch is the worst. I have never experience anything like in my entire life. It's the only place in United States where if you aren't drugs and never been to prison or don't have any severe learning or psychological problem, you will not get out regularly for work. I am a graduate student at a local university short on cash. So, I decided to work at the local branch on the south side of town. I thought that the main thing I had to worry about was the other workers many of whom have criminal backgrounds. Wrong, the workers were cool as hell. But, dispatchers are very unprofessional and cruel to the works. The dispatchers would play the workers against each other. Many of the workers are in very bad shape financial. So, the dispatchers would talk to workers any kind of way. It's awful!
They have this one dispatcher, **, who would roll her eyes and answer the workers' questions in a very sarcastic way if she thought their questions were stupid. But, at the same time, ** was constantly making simple clerical errors with payroll that my 10-year-old sister could catch. And if so much as complain about it, she will NOT sent you out on a ticket. Once she discovered that I told some of the workers that they did not have to put up with that, she hardly ever seen me out.
I'm in Florida a right to work state and labor ready is considered to be a union base company and so I got denied not even given a chance. They went by what a old school 80s program system had to say about me when I had offered to them evidence that I'm legally sane to work by a psychologist who even tested my brother who not able to work - they turn me down basically cussing at Me in front of people... But yet they went by the system saying my brother is able to work but I'm not. Even my mom who went psycho on more people than my own bipolar brother had even got hired on. That unreal and to me is very wrong.
I won't recommend anyone joining them. It be a waste of your time but if you do don't be honest on the ** test. Instead ** on all of it like how my brother did. I was perfectly honest with them and now I had suffered from that. Your best bet is to work for a company direct or you will just be used up like a sponge or simply get the unfair treatment. So now I'm going to call up all the state law firm taken this even up to Florida state capital Tallahassee... =) BTW I'll be honest with you as I did with them. I had been honest saying I had smoke weed and because of that the system told me I am insane and unstable when even my own brother had done it and other heavy drugs. And said he had done none being hired and get callbacks from them. Anyway thanks for your time..
Labor Ready use to be good place to work (as far as temp jobs go), recently they switched to a new automated system. You no longer get tickets, you have to wait for the company you worked at to fax over your hours, meaning you might have to wait a couple of days to a week just to get paid. When you call them, you always get the answering system. I only work there on my days off from my regular job. So my advice, if you gotta work for a temp company, stayed clear of Labor Ready.
Labor Ready, is just really rude and self centered. Whatever is good for them. If you know what is good for you don't feed their greed, and to be awful to good people remember you can go anywhere.
I have worked for this temp. agency on and off for the last 2 years. I have also engaged and worked for many other temp. agencies throughout my career. The difference between all the other agencies I have worked for and labor ready is the degree of integrity that is used to maintain a fair and equitable relationship between the agency and those employed by it. At Labor Ready, experience and skills are not considered for the most part, and your human dignity and safety are completely disregarded. They also seem to hype professionalism and honesty to their workers, but exhibit none of these qualities to us.
In other words, when applying for work with other temp. agencies in Los Angeles, one is accustomed to a certain protocol in regard to orientation, job skills, categories and availability of work on a short or long term basis. Labor Ready's practice is one of indifference and vague understanding of your abilities and skills. I was given a short check list of skills and experience that never seemed to be taken into consideration when I was offered work. You are basically herded into one category: Low class slave who is very desperate to work.
There is NO professional relationship between the dispatchers and workers. I was repeatedly not acknowledged when coming to the local "office" to either pick up a work ticket or to have my ticket cashed out. If I greeted one of the dispatchers named ** with a friendly, "Good afternoon, how are you!", I would not even be afforded any kind of greeting, no eye contact, only sometimes I knew I was amongst the living by being shown an upheld "stop there and shut up" hand from **. I and my coworkers were given wrong addresses and directions to job sites many times, and then, in route to the job asked why we were not there yet. The conditions and type of work that were described to me were not at all similar to the job I found myself doing once I arrived to the work site.
For instance, I was once told that the job I was going to was, "apparel warehouse, moving clothes from one location to another." When I arrived to the warehouse, it was actually being sprayed with concrete in the ceiling rafters and our job was to prepare the ceiling with water and to sweep away all left over concrete into huge piles before it dried. None of us from Labor Ready had any experience in this and it was clear that the supervisor (the client) who was leading us was of the impression that we WERE experienced and knew the job well enough to be aware of what was expected of us. After we started working from the brief explanation he gave us, it became apparent to him that we didn't have a clue about how to do the job.
He regrouped us and asked us why we were performing so below standard to which I replied that we were not told what kind of job this was and had no experience in it. He seemed somewhat aggravated that Labor Ready had sent a ragtag crew to do a specific job, but anyway, he did try to explain what was expected of us.
One thing I noticed while sweeping the concrete that had not adhered to the ceiling was that it was falling to the ground in big chunks, some of them being the size of a shipping pallet and that is a very heavy chunk. I started to get concerned because I saw one of these chunks almost hit my coworker. So when I asked the supervisor about this and when it was safe to go under the newly sprayed areas, he told us, "Look, I can tell you just be very aware of this stuff falling, we need you to get in there and sweep up the fallen concrete before it gets too dry."
Well, this seemed quite inadequate for safety directions, but we kept going until one guy was hit on the shoulder with a giant chunk of wet concrete, knocking him to the floor and leaving him disoriented. He shook it off and seemed more embarrassed than wary, but my sense of the situation was that if he had been hit directly on the head, even though he was wearing a helmet, he would have sustained a major injury, possibly death. At that moment I told the super that I was going to end the job and if he could sign me out. I called Labor Ready and told them the danger at the job and wondered how they could have sent us there so unprepared. They had me describe the situation to someone in corporate and that's the last I heard of that.
Another experience I had was a demo job at a subway. We were there to remove all of the tile, floor to ceiling for a subcontractor. I was working with two other guys from Labor Ready, one of which left early because he was working slowly and asked to leave (this happens quite often on Labor Ready jobs). Our supervisor then told us we were going to have to make up for one less "hand" and we needed to work faster to get the job done before opening hours (subway was going to open for business the next morning). The guy I was working with was cool and hard working. He told me he was originally from Mexico and we talked a little in English and Spanish. We were using hammers to shatter ceramic tile from the walls and were supposed to be up on ladders when working on the upper portions of the wall.
My crew member from Labor Ready was smashing tile farther up above his head because there wasn't another ladder available for him to work from. All of a sudden, I saw him grab his hand in pain and he was bleeding. He had been cut by a large piece of falling tile. BTW, when you are demoing ceramic tile, it can shatter into something as sharp as a scalpel and in this case, it was a flying guillotine. He asked for a medkit or a band-aid but it was clear he had sustained a major injury to his hand. It was cut very deep from between his forefinger and the base of his thumb. Me and the guys with the subcontractor crew tried to stop the bleeding with gauze and medical tape but it wouldn't stop bleeding. We told him he should go to emergency hospital and the foreman said he would drive him but he got really worried and completely refused medical care.
He just pulled off as much gauze as he could wrap around his hand, put on his gloves and explained something to the other Spanish speakers there (I couldn't understand what was being said) and then hopped on his motorcycle and took off into the night. When I asked the foreman why he refused medical care, he told me that he was undocumented and was afraid of the legal consequences. So, that really bothered me, first of all, that he was in danger because of the wound he had sustained and also, that Labor Ready obviously did not check on his legal status before hiring him. It is illegal for them to hire undocumented workers and I believe they do this quite often because I have talked to other workers who were undocumented yet hired by Labor Ready. They know this lets them off the hook because if you are working illegally, you will really have no recourse to legal or medical attention under their system.
I have seen a Labor Ready worker fall off the top of a large moving truck, flat on his back, and when we rushed to see how he was, he kept telling us that he just needed a few minutes to get his wind back and that he would be ok. He didn't want us to call for emergency help because he was also undocumented. Thankfully, someone passing by called for an ambulance and they came to the scene. Later I found out that this poor man had broken both of his shoulder blades.
Proper safety is definitely not a concern for Labor Ready even as they post ridiculous safety warnings and messages on their office walls. I know they keep a false record of days without accidents because the ones I described were never accounted for on their wall. If they really cared, why do they not issue you gloves or filter masks when yours are worn out and you ask for replacements??? It is dangerous to do cleanup with unknown particulates and NO MASK! When I ask for them, many times they have said they have run out or come back another day.
And there is NO SAFETY TRAINING as far as I and others have experienced. It's like you are supposed to know what is expected or rely on the client to inform you and protect you on each new job. This rarely happens by the way because the client at a job site doesn't care, doesn't have the time or they think you already know how to be safe on the job and have the proper protection to be safe.
I have learned that Labor Ready came into prominence in the temporary labor field by giving ex-convicts an opportunity to work again. Many of these folks are constrained by their felony records to demeaning jobs or no work at all. This is a fault of the U.S. system in general and not Labor Ready's. But when you come out of that system and have served your time, you should be treated as a free citizen and not an inmate. Labor Ready's staff treat most of us as though we are less than human and have no rights other than working as a slave for minimum wage. I see them as a horrible model of things to come in the labor market. As many of us have been laid off from good or even survivable jobs, the market is now poised to lower the standards of living to homelessness and crumbs from the table.
I have met many intelligent and hardworking men and women while working for Labor Ready, each with their own story of how they got there. Some are ex-cons, others are of have been homeless (myself included), laid off, looking for steady work, etc. One thing we all have in common though, is being demeaned, endangered, and cheated by Slaver Ready. I am from mixed heritage myself and have made friends with people of all colors, creeds and classes in working for labor ready. But I have also seen fights break out on the job and in the offices of Slaver Ready and I have seen people get very high on the job, endangering others and themselves. Many of us have reported these outbreaks to the management but they continue to put these same people on the job time and time again causing strife and stress to those of us who just want to do an honest day of work (if we can even get a whole day!).
I hope Labor Ready gets hit with a class lawsuit of such magnitude that they are put out of the market all together. If you are reading this and agreeing with what any of us have written in these reviews, I hope you will take the time to document the horrible practices of this company and spread the word in this forum and any others that will attract the right kind of attention. If they go out of business, it will actually help us to gain better employment without the middle man. Thank you for your efforts and may you be blessed as you continue to fight for justice.
I was text there was work available and returned a text 20 minute later. I was in a meeting at the time they text me but text back immediately telling them I was available. I set aside my plans expecting I had weekend work only to be text back 5 hours later they filled it up. Screwing me up on my other plans and being left hanging. I am very disappointed in them and won't no longer deal with them from here on.
After 1 hr and 15 minutes trying to sort out how to get into a website to print my W2 the website said: "Sorry but your W2 for 2014 is not on file." To contact Payroll at True Blue. It is already February 3rd and have not received my W2 yet. There is no way to contact Payroll at Corporate.
This company ain't worth working for. They lie about not having jobs and sent me on jobs for 2 hour making 7.50 an hour that didn't pay for gas.. I lost money . .They got long hour jobs.. They pick & choose. Hard to get your money.. They need a new manager cause she ain't worth nothing. I wouldn't do no more 2 hour jobs and now they don't work me.. Watch out because they use people.
I am going to keep this simple because if I elaborate on the issue I might spout off some very mean things or threats. I worked there for more than four months and got paid for each ticket I turned in. I never had to call the branch and tell them what days I worked. It's bad enough that the branch I work through doesn't pay workers DAILY like the sign says. As coworkers and myself have noticed, it is false advertisement to do that. But now in addition, I worked 2 days at a firm this past week, waited to see payment on my account on Friday, (the day of each week this branch is paying), and called Saturday to ask why I wasn't paid yet. I was told that I had to call to tell them I worked before Friday... Isn't that what the work tickets are for?
I let the dispatch know that I had an afternoon appointment but was available all morning. I said it loud enough that 6-8 people heard me. She sent me on a four job that started at 9am that was kitty korner across the freeway from my place of appointment. Another crew was sent. To the same site to unload a truck like we were to do. Their driver showed first. There was one space for a semi. Our driver showed late but we got the truck fully unloaded before I left. He said he had no problem with me leaving. He called his company and **. They called labor ready corporate and **, corporate called dispatch in gilbert and **. Jessica lied and I was suspended for two full weeks. No pay.
I'm a current labor at labor systems. The secretary's in the office at the Gilbert location are lazy people. I've been working at a job and I continue to go back and will come. To go back until the job end in 1/12/2015. Every time I go there to get my check they are never there and have to wait until they get back in the office to get paid. Today I called and asked how long they would be there. Jessica told me until 5. I was there at 2:55pm along with another laborer and the for were locked. The other laborer told me Jessica said she was leaving at 3. So now that no one was there, I have to wait and go all the way out there, get paid, get a repeat ticket and go all the way to work and then after work go back, get paid and get a repeat ticket. This is crazy, I only make 7.90 a hour. Round trip from my house to labor already is 24 miles, so now Fri, I'll be going 48 miles roughly just because Jessica and the two other workers decide to take off for the day after talking to me they would be there until 5pm.
Labor Ready, for some time now, has been making changes to become more automated in dispatching employees to work sites. At first, there wasn't much of a negative impact. However, recently they have not been letting employees (including those who don't have vehicles) sit at the office in the morning. That has been causing many to not get jobs and are struggling even more. Labor Ready started a program where you as an employee text in to tell them that you are ready to work and when a job comes in, they will text you or call with the details of a job. That's good for the one who has a car and for the person with a phone able to text. But for the guy like me who relies on buses and my bike, I just can't get a job.
The thing is, before they started all this, a person could sit at the office. When a job came in that needed multiple people, the dispatcher (who knew most the employees' situations) could match up those without vehicles with those who had them. I still wasn't getting 40 hours a week, but at least I was working. Now two dispatchers at Tucson's North branch has quit as well as one manager because of the way things are being done.
Not to mention that the South branch manager, who took over the North branch after the one manager quit, acts rude to both staff and temp employees. Now, temp employees I have been talking to are talking of quitting and going to another temp service. I personally am going to do all I can to deter as many people from working there as possible as well as deter current and future customers from using their services. So, anyone needing to get some temp work should really think about using a local agency who remembers that it is their workforce that keeps them in business.
Worked for the labor Ready North side office since January 2011. I left for a year in 2012 to take a temporary driving job, but I have worked pretty steady for them for the last 14 months. During the holidays the need for temporary workers inevitably slows down. That is unless you've been assigned to a steady ticket. Through most of October and November I was on a steady ticket working at a landfill. I was taken off of that ticket for three weeks during that period because of a personal injury, but was cleared to return through the end of November.
I was taken off that ticket because Labor Ready needed numerous certified flaggers for a sub-contract they had with Union Pacific Railroad. That job lasted from Dec 1 through the 8th and paid $9/hr. with lots of overtime pay. I incorrectly presumed that I would be put back on the landfill ticket once the temporary job for Union Pacific ended. That never happened. When I contacted the office I found that one of the longtime dispatchers had quit after finding that the North side office would be closed down after December 24th and that all work would thereafter be assigned from an office on the far South side of town.
Many changes have been made at this company just in the last six months. Used to be you could go to the office early in the morning and make yourself available for possible work. Apparently they don't allow that anymore. All work is now offered and assigned through text messaging which makes it tough now for the former workers from Labor Ready North to know if the other office is receiving texts from us declaring availability. The last two weeks before the North office closed operations I worked less than 30 hrs. all of this just before the holidays. I've been texting the South office every business day since then and as yet have received no responses.
I have no confidence in Labor Ready as a corporation that truly cares about their workers as human beings and individuals. There are many workers, including myself, that were always dependable and actually took pride in the company's values. The office people that I've worked for over the years with the company are another story. They sometimes went out of their way to see that the best available workers always got work of some kind somewhere. Now they are gone and the office is now closed. It looks like Labor Ready is trying to scale down their workforce in the Tucson area. I just submitted an unemployment claim to help me through until I find another job.
I went to the Taunton MA branch for work and worked first day holding a sign for minimum wage on a street corner while people stopped at the light would laugh at me and call me a loser. A lot of them were good looking girls. I would keep my head down but that wasn't good either because then I wouldn't know when to duck when people would throw stuff at me. At least the sign worked well as a shield, still caught some splatter. Went back after 10 hours and made something like 32 dollars for being degraded all day. Went back the next day and sat all day and was not chosen for work, even though they were sending others to stand and hold the same sign on the same corners. When I asked the lady at the desk she told me that I was not chosen because I brought my sign back dirty. I told her I had to defend myself from soft drinks and apples and such, and she said I should have called the police. I told her I couldn't, as I work at Labor Ready and can't afford lunch, let alone a cell phone. She was not amused.
I went back for about 3 more days and sat there all day until they told me to go home, no work for me. I wasn't that upset, as I was still healing from various bruises from my last assignment. My left leg had a welt the size of my fist from where a passing car nailed with me a cantaloupe, and I couldn't walk without extreme pain anyway. Week after that I sat in the waiting room and didn't get any work, but did learn that heroine makes people really sick. 9 out of every 10 people waiting with me was dope sick, some were even throwing up on the floor. All of them were smoking Double Diamonds and smelled horrible.
I found it hard to take, so I went to the desk and asked what my chances were of finding work that day. I was told there were a lot of people waiting. It didn't look too good for me. Keep in mind I'm one of the only people there not addicted to an illegal substance. They would rather send out drug addicts who are throwing up than me. One guy got called and sat there puking telling them to hold on for about 5 minutes before he walked up to the desk and got his ticket. I was standing there, not throwing up from dope sickness, and they wouldn't even look at me.
This is Labor Ready in Taunton Ma, non-drug addicts need not apply. Went back day after day until they finally gave me another job on a slow day when it was raining and very few people showed up to their version of work. Was given a sign and a street corner and sent out to the wolves. Did okay for a few hours, all was well and great until someone hit me in the face with a can of Beefaroni, busting open my forehead and causing a huge gash to bleed profusely. I couldn't help but think that this was my offhanded comment about not being able to afford Lucy coming back to haunt me. Vision got fuzzy and I had to sit down. Eventually fainted or whatever from the concussion I no doubt received from a direct hit the head from a canned good. Was told not to come back because eventually someone called an ambulance and it took me to the hospital for a transfusion and 18 stitches across my forehead. They called it leaving the job without notification. Gotta hand it to 'em - they're something else.

Saturday, November 29, 2014. I responded to a text that needed a worker at Walmart on 19th Avenue and Bell road. I started at 10 am, worked to 6 pm. I mostly worked in the gardening area with the assistant manager, **. Myself and others asked about signing in and out, I was told Walmart will handle the situation. It's almost a week later and pay. What should I do?
I can't find work through Labor Ready despite being a highly qualified employee, who has never had a dissatisfied client? My longest job where the client wanted me back was 14 months. That raises questions about the future of Labor Ready.
I contracted with Labor Ready for plumber's helper to replace a section of galvanized water pipe on 11/04/2014. This work was completed in about 30 minutes. We went to McDonalds for some breakfast 30 minutes. The next 2 1/2 hours were spent to organize shop. I signed time card for 4 hours (minimum) and gave worker ride to his home within walking distance of Labor Ready. The worker was paid for 4 hours of work. Satisfaction with worker 5 stars. Satisfaction with business practices 0 stars.
Labor Ready billed my credit card for 8 hours of work. After bank found Labor Ready charged me for 8 hours of labor instead of 4 hours the charges were removed on 11/18/2014. Each Labor Ready branch sends bill to central location insulated from the customer. They refuse to answer the phone. This scam occurs thousands of times per day with the hope customer will not notice the fraud.
I was working for the El Paso Texas convention center and sometimes working doubles through labor ready... The first time I noticed that they were prejudice is when one of the convention center worker threw beer in my shoe and the guy Fernando still wanted me to work and the second time is when the same guy called the office and told labor ready that I could not work the double so they took me off the schedule cause someone overheard me say I was tired and was dragging my feet which never happened. I understand I am a minority there but whenever I go I give my all but I feel like blacks gets treated bad with this company because we are the minority.
My latest experience with Labor Ready: I called on August 15, 2014 to make a reservation for 4 people for 8 hours on 8/23/14 and 8/24/14. I called Branch 1152 because the last two times we had requested their services that is the branch we used. Whoever I talked to on 8/15/14 told me I had to call the Thornton branch because they were closer. I told her we have always called this location and she insisted I needed to now call the Thornton location.
I talked to Melissa at the Thornton location and she made the reservation. I told her I was going out of town and would be unavailable until 8/21/14. I got a message from my office on 8/22/14 that Melissa had called the previous day. I called the office at 9:45 am and was told by someone else Melissa was not in until 1:30. I asked her if she knew why Melissa was calling and she said there is a note on the account to not service us. I asked her what that meant and she said she had no idea and I would have to wait until Melissa came in to find out. I then called the Denver Branch (1152) and talked to Briana. I told her we had always went through their office and when trying to go through Thornton, there is a problem that no one can explain right now. I asked if she could find out what is meant by the do not service. She said she didn't know but would find out and call me back.
At 1:45 Melissa called me back from the Thornton office and said they could not fulfill my reservation because of a do not service note. I asked her what was behind that message and she said I would need to call the Corporate office to find out. I asked her if she could call and find out for me and she said no. I hadn't heard from Briana since our 10:00 am phone call so I called her. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. She then said she was sorry for the delay but they were really busy. She said what the note meant was I needed to sign a new credit application and contract. I told her I wasn't in the office and asked if we could do over the phone. She said that wouldn't work and she would email the documents right away. I told her I would need to go home which was a 40 minute drive so I could print out, scan and email back. She said she would let everyone in the office know to be looking for the paperwork so they could finish the reservation.
When I was 10 minutes away from my house I checked my email on my phone and the documents had not come through. I called the office and asked for Briana and was told she left. I said I just talked to her! I told the lady she was supposed to email me some documents for a reservation I placed for the weekend and she was to tell everyone in the office to be on the lookout for the return documents. The lady said she didn't know anything about it and would have Briana call me Monday. I explained again the reservation would be for this weekend and Monday would be too late. She said she would ask Julie but Julie was on the phone. She said as soon as Julie got off the phone she would have her call me. I got home and waited 30 minutes and no email and no return call from Julie.
I left the house to go back to where I was and while driving I called again. I was put on hold for 10 minutes. I was so frustrated by now I hung up and my husband tried calling. He was also put on long holds where someone would keep coming back and ask if he was still there. Julie finally picked up and she said she didn't know anything about the documents Briana was sending us. Then she checked Briana's email and found she had sent them to **. She missed the .com part. Julie tried to explain that Briana may not have heard the .com part of the email and my husband explained that was a lame excuse because everyone by now knows an email has a . something. A popular email address like hotmail someone should know it is .com. She then tried to explain away Briana's inability to finish helping with our reservation because she wasn't normally someone who helped with reservations and was only helping that day because they were busy.
Julie said she didn't know why the Thornton office was unable to help us but that Melissa was new and that was part of the problem. He told Julie we had other things to do and when we were able to get back to a computer we would print and sign and send back. Julie said she would be there until 8:00 and would be able to get our reservation completed once she received the paperwork. At 3:50 we got the email from Julie with the documents and at 4:00 we got the another email telling us there is a do not service on our account and to call the corporate office. So I was right back where I started. When you call the corporate number it states someone will call you back and it says it's collections. I left a message and never got a call back.
So now my project was ruined because no one at this company could find out what the do not service meant and was unwilling to help me resolve whatever needing resolving so I could move forward with my reservation. I wasted a good portion of the day on hold throughout the day and never got anywhere but frustrated. I called the corporate number again on Tuesday and received a call back. The lady said I had an invoice that was generated in August and paid in January and a collection fee of $60.00 needed to be paid to continue business with your company. She asked if I wanted to pay that and my answer was ummm. NO! The reason I won't pay it is because I never want to do business with Labor Ready again!
They ruined my project over $60.00!! And the entire day trying to find out why we couldn't get my reservation completed was the worst customer service anyone could ever give anyone!! I was making a reservation for 4 people for 8 hours for 2 days. If anyone had said on Friday I needed to pay $60.00 along with my reservation I would have gladly done that. If anyone would have said I needed to pay in advance I would have gladly done that. But instead of resolutions all I got was the run around and no answers and my project was ruined. So I went back and looked at the invoice they said was paid late.
In 2012 I show in my records one invoice for August 11, 2012 that was paid 9/28/12. I show another invoice for 10/26/12 that was paid 1/21/12. I show the invoice from October not August was the one sent to collection. So the invoice was due 11/26/12 based on the documentation received from your company. 30 days past due would have been 12/26/12. A letter was received January 21st from their collection agency. Meaning our account was turned to collection when it was 45 days past due. My records show we paid by check on January 21st over the phone with the collection agency. I have no notes why the collection fee wasn't paid but maybe we negotiated for them to take it off. I don't have any notes either why it was 45 days late but it could have been an oversight. But if I quit doing business with all my customers that are 45 days past due then I wouldn't have any customers.
I sent this same information by email to both managers at the two branches I dealt with plus to all the email addresses on their website which included customer care at the corporate location. I got one reply from the Denver Branch manager who basically said everything they did was fine and then she argued with me on the what my records show for the invoice back from 2012 implying it was my fault. I don't want to be unfair so I have copied in her response. I felt her response was defensive and deflective so I wrote back to her and copied everyone again asking for someone else to contact me if they wanted to show me they were capable of providing good customer service. I never received a reply from anyone else and I waited over a week.
EMAIL FROM BRANCH MANAGER - Valerie: As the branch manager for 1152 in Denver, I have received your email and read it in detail. I've also checked into the account in our POS system, and can see the "DNS" note. You requested that your email be forwarded to an Anthony -- I have no clue who that is, but I am happy to address your concerns and try to make some sense of this situation for you.
I understand your frustration at being on hold and feeling like you weren't getting answers in a timely fashion. It sounds to me like your frustration started when you were told to contact the Thornton office. I'm not sure where the job site is that you were going to be working on, but it is generally our practice to pass customers to the nearest branch directly instead of being the proverbial "middle man." In many cases, it helps to avoid transportation charges to our customers, saving them some money on the front end by providing temporary associates who are more centrally located to the job site.
I am sure that Malissa waited to call you back until you were supposed to return from your travel; had you received the message the day she left it, this probably would have been resolved in time for your project that you said started 08/23 (I have copied Brad, her branch manager, on this email, in case you have questions for him). She did follow our standard procedures by directing you to our corporate collections department to get your account cleared up. Our collections are handled outside of the local branch -- immediately by a specialist who deals with our current accounts, and then by our corporate department who handles our national level customers and outstanding accounts that are transferred to a collections agency.
I'm not sure what documentation you are referring to stating that your invoice would have been due on 11/26/12 - the invoice I am looking at says it is considered delinquent after 11/25/12. All of our credit applications, service agreements, and time sheets state that the terms of payment are "Net 7 days from date of invoice, and understands the unpaid accounts will be considered in default after (30) days, after which a default charge will be imposed". When your account was turned over to collections, it was aged beyond 70 days. There were multiple collection attempts, and no response from your company - so our collections group issued a notice and then turned it over.
Regarding the hold times, message center recording, and the back and forth between you and the staff at my branch -- you happened to call on a day when I was on vacation, and we were running shorthanded because another staff member had a family emergency. I had a temporary office staff person from an agency helping to answer phones, and Briana had stopped by the office to check on an account she handles, and ended up jumping in to help manage the call volume. I apologize that you couldn't get the answers you were looking for immediately; however, I'm hopeful that you can try to understand the situation on our end, as well as the fact that we deal with lots of customers everyday, and when there is an account calling us with a "do not service" status, we do what we can do -- refer them to our collections department. They have the final say on this stuff, and so we send you right to the source.
Again, Valerie, I am sorry that you had such a bad experience, and hope that this email helps you to understand a little bit about why the situation unfolded as it did. I appreciate you letting us know about the issues you saw, and this situation will be discussed in our team meeting. If there is anything else I can do for you or help you to understand, please let me know.
MY RESPONSE TO HEATHER, CUSTOMER CARE AT LABOR READY, BRANCH MANAGER IN THORNTON, AND ALL OTHER CORPORATE EMAIL ADDRESSES LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE: I was told by one of the girls at your branch the managers name was Anthony. I never asked her for her name but she had a thick accent. She had mentioned she was a temp. Now for your response: My whole email was to try to get your company to understand poor customer service and poor policies and processes that cause poor customer service. In reading your response it would be my opinion that you could use more training on customer service.
All I got from your response was how I should not have any issues, I should now completely understand why what happened is okay and everything your employees did was okay and all your company policies are okay. Your response does not move us forward, it makes me what to write a rebuttal. But I don't have time nor the desire to fight it out with you.
What I will do instead is provide some free guidance for you. First and foremost when you have an angry customer you need to step back and read their complaint without taking it personally. When you take it personally then your response is written from a defensive standpoint such as yours was. That is NOT the response you want to give an angry customer. They don't want to hear your defense. They want YOU to hear what went wrong and they want your empathy not your defense. Even if a customer says they will NEVER do business with you again, your goal as a manager or anyone who gives a flying hoot about customer service should take that as a challenge to see if you can write a response that would actually make the customer reconsider their position of never wanting to do business with your company.
Here's what you DIDN'T hear. Because of your staff and your company policies your company: Lost revenue: You lost the ability to make $1,152.00 plus the ability to recoup $60.00. You lost a customer and future revenue. You ruined a customer's project and made a customer very angry because of it. Bad reviews on your company DO impact decisions of other customers whether to use your company or not. Those are 3 problems businesses should avoid. Lost revenue, lost customers, bad reviews. A person worth their salt in customer service would have recognized that and worded their response more carefully. I am going to point out where you went wrong specifically because I don't feel you are good enough at this to actually see where you failed.
Paragraph 1 Pointing out that I said Anthony was the manager. If you know you are the manager and the information I have is incorrect there is no reason to point out misinformation to a customer. Simply stating you are the branch manager is sufficient. Trying to make the customer feel from the get go that you are going to address everything from the start as you are right and the customer is wrong sets the tone for the rest of the response.
Paragraph 2 Stating you understand a customer's frustration by being put on hold and untimely answers then followed by a defensive statement about why they would have told me to call the Thornton office. Then adding how that should have benefited me by being referred to Thornton is taking everything away from your initial statement of understanding anything about a customer's frustration. You started off with empathy, switched to defensive and ended with what your staff did is right and the customer frustration is misplaced.
Paragraph 3 Completely defensive paragraph. No empathy. Again with your defensive stance it reads as all was right with the staff and again tries to discredit the customer's issues. Paragraph 4 - Completely defensive paragraph. No empathy. Again with your defensive stance it reads as all was right with the staff and again tries to discredit the customers issues. In fact at this point you have been so defensive and so quick to try to deflect blame back to the customer, you have done nothing to salvage anything with the relationship. In fact you have made it much worse.
Paragraph 5 Completely defensive paragraph. Attempt at empathy by stating you apologize I wasn't able to get the answers I wanted is actually patronizing at this point. Paragraph 6 Last failed attempt at empathy by trying to use the word apology. At this point you have made matters worse. So much so I felt compelled to write back and try to educate you. There are all kinds of different responses to my complaint that would have been appropriate. Let me give you a sample: Hello Valerie, I am the branch manager at the downtown office. I have read your complaint and have put much thought into my response.
You, like every other customer we have, matter to us and when we fail them it is very disappointing. Disappointing because we: Lost revenue: We lost the ability to make $1,152.00 plus the ability to recoup $60.00. We lost a customer and future revenue. We ruined a customer's project and made a customer very angry because of it. Bad reviews on our company DO matter to us.
I can see several areas based on your experience we need to correct immediately. Absolutely our team should be empowered to help a customer resolve a do not service message. In fact, possibly we should put more effort in knowing why a customer has been put on hold before contacting them so we can offer resolutions. You have pointed out a big problem with our policies that I will be addressing with the powers that be.
Can we try to make this up to you? I understand the other project is past and can't be fixed but we want to see if we can make this right. If in the next 3 months another project arises that you need laborers, please contact me directly. I will personally make the reservation for you. The $60.00 collection fee has been taken off your account as a small gesture towards making up for your frustration.
I feel email sometimes can be so impersonal and I would like to meet with you in person. If you are open to a meeting, please send me available times and dates I can come to your office. Sincerely, Someone who cares! Short, has empathy, no defense could have turned me around. I hope you and anyone else on this list has learned something. If someone else on this email list thinks they can do better than Heather, which shouldn't be hard, I will accept one more response. But trust me, it better be from someone there that is good because Heather has only aggravated the issue.
Did not get paid. Also safety driving condition.
The employees at the Labor Ready location on Western ave in Pittsburgh PA are very unprofessional and rude. I came to the office to apply during business hours and the main entrance door was locked. I knocked but did not receive an answer so I went around to another door and walked in. The women was very rude when speaking to me, told her coworker he should not have let me in, then ushered me out saying I could not apply until tomorrow. They were very unpleasant and rude. The women did not give me a chance to speak before ushering me out.
The manager at the Labor Ready Inc. office on 670 Edgewood Ave. N. In Jacksonville, Florida berates and abuses the employees of that off and constantly tells them that they can't work there or the "ticket" if they complain in any way. She requires that temporary employees give rides to other employees. ...If not again, you can work that ticket or job. She knows that people that are there....approximately 85% African American....need those minimum wage jobs yet she treats them with hostility. This disrespectful attitude extends over to the other dispatchers that work under her. I thought it was a violation of labor laws if you force a temporary employee to come in in order to give another temp. laborer a ride to work. If you refuse she will tell you - you can't work. This is wrong and unjust. Especially the nasty tone and the hostile work environment.
Was told I was going to start cutting foam with math involved and start at $10.00 an hour. Later told I was to receive a raise if I stuck it out for a month. This would add up to $11.00 if my math is correct? I then was told I would work Monday - Friday then paid Friday for that period of work. I then go in to get paid the first day of work because it is FRIDAY! I am now finding out on my pay stub it's not $10.00 but $9.00 per hour and informed Monday - Thursday is now the pay period, and the current FRIDAY would then carry on over to the next pay period, keeping them financially over the worker's head, in which in this case is ME! VERY UNACCEPTABLE LIES AND MANIPULATING TACTICS!!
I transferred from Wyoming and they are very prejudiced and do not care to hire you. Not going back there.
I just started working with labor ready last week, the first job I got was handled ok and they gave me a low pay but local work day that I committed to for three days. The client was very reasonable even supplying water to drink on 80 deg days buying lunch for us all three days with (two other LR workers). The next time I called the local office, they closed it down and moved to an other office. This office is in another town or city now leaving us somewhat stranded. Well I stayed or tried to stay positive and called for work and they dispatched me locally thank God to a construction site to move doors they stated. I assumed at the same labor rate as the prior assignment.
I toughed it out as they were not moving doors but a full trailer full of kitchen cabinets by hand up three flights of stairs and had but with one other LB R Worker there. There were to be four or five requested to help with the weather very hot and the full 53 foot trailer loaded to the max! Not on pallets! One guy showed up from the office with work tickets and asked where the other guys were, sat in his car, seemed like an hour talking he said to the office to get more help. All this time (2 hrs) me and the one guy there started hs and carrying cabinets up the stairs sweating like crazy. Finally he decides to help (an hr and a half) says he has to leave! Then one other guy shows up (older 65 or so) to help. This guy is not able to do much with his age and hot weather so I mostly with the other guy tough it out.
The supervisor is agitated the truck is barely unloaded so makes some changes as to where to leave the cabinets after up the stairs in an effort to hurry the job. By lunch time we all are overworked with the heat but the super pushes us to hurry. By the end of the day no other LBR Workers ever show to help so the super gets his carpenters and staff to help us only a few last then take off! He offer very little water (filled empty bottles with hydrant water) and we end up 10 hrs of hot and hurried unloading. The super says good job and asks if we want to return, huh! The job paid $7.50 hr after taxes; we are lucky to pay one or two bills after taxes- $65.00!!! If I had known I would of refused the job. Dispatch at the office failed or knew better to tell me the pay rate!!! I made more money when I was in high school mowing lawns in summer! I'm 45 yrs old now. LABOR READY!! COME ON!! A PREVAILING (OR LIVING) WAGE FOR HARD LABOR AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED EVEN WHEN YOU SENT A 65 YR OLD MAN TO DO THE JOB!
I, Ryan **, am a victim of sexual harassment which occurred on June 2nd 2014. This took place while working at the U.T. Apartments. The customer was Batson-Cook Company. I reported to work on 06/02/2014 and while gathering my tools from the gang box, Dan ** (**) approached me and Kent **. This was at 0710 hours. I, at this time, was working with Kent **. Dan **, when he approached us, said I heard your worker was going to knock you down and suck your **. Kent ** stated he wouldn't have to knock me down.
I asked Dan ** what outfit he worked for and he did not answer me. Furthermore, I continued to ask him who he worked for throughout the day and he pretended to be an Batson- Cook employee. I reported this incident of sexual harassment at 1700 hours to Jeremy at Labor Ready and this is when I found out both Dan ** and Kent ** worked for Labor Ready. Jeremy stated I needed to bring this harassment complaint in writing, then they would investigate it. I, Ryan **, hold two in degrees from college and one of them is in Labor Studies. I have taken courses in sexual harassment and understand that Jeremy did not handle this properly and never investigated this issue. I am currently making an EEOC complaint and sending this letter to Labor Ready True Blue top management.
My mother needed to go to the hospital at 2 in the morning and I was unable to show up for a job in which I notified them. I was then told I was suspended for two weeks without pay. Is this legal even if it's not written in their policy??
I go to the Labor Ready on 116 W 7th St Long Beach, CA, been with them for years. I use them for second job for extra money. They sent me out plenty of time - I am a hard worker. Whenever I show up, they send me out right away. Suddenly they change the office staff. This new woman came in name ** and she has to be the nastiest, disrespectful, unprofessional person I have ever met. There is another girl, **. Now she used to be okay but now she acts like ** which makes it double worst. So go up to Labor Ready every morning for a week. No job, then I introduce myself to **. I told her who I was and how long I've been with them. She was very nice so now I think, great go back following day.
Nothing, at the same time I see that most of the people that show up for work at 5 am me included are looked over and she picks the guys that hardly have any experience and aren't even here in the morning like the rest of us. I go on Friday and I ask to talk. She said really loud, "I don't want to hear you whine to me like a **." She says, "I have no time for you, come back Monday or just let me contact you when I get you a job. You don't even have to come bother me anymore." She said, "If you have something to say, you will never go to work again for us."
Everyone was shocked and I felt like I was being scolded by my teach. I have to say I've never been talked to this way by anyone. I was embarrassed and my co-workers were embarrassed for me. I said to her she has no right to talk to me like that and who does she think she is. She turns around and said, "I'm GOD to you if you ever want to work." I walk away. I think this woman is horrible and you would get more complaints about her but people are shared. Ever since she has gotten there, she gets ruder and I cannot let her abuse her authority the way she does everyday. She plays favoritism and she is not fair and she doesn't care how she speaks to us because we need the jobs. She told me, "I'm not the one that needs to work, you are, so be careful." Is this any way to speak to grown men? No it's not, it's degrading and it needs to be addressed. Thank you.
Your dispatcher Anna has not sent me out since 11/11/13 and now it's 12/9/13. I would like to know why but she told me there's no reason. She's lying. I have not went out to work in 28 days and I have been coming and signing in faithfully. Can I get some answers?
When I work, I expect to be paid. If you are looking for work, and expect to be paid, or at least believe the contract that when one works here in this country, one gets paid for that work. Labor Ready's credibility does not exist, since they have failed to live up to federal laws requiring a registered business to pay those that work for them. It was discovered that $65.00 was missing from the account associated with my pay supposedly sent to me for work - have all receipts. If they are that CHEAP, I wouldn't work there if they were the last place on earth to work - since I have ALWAYS been paid for my work. It is strongly suggested that if you work or plan to work for LABOR READY, you keep a sharp eye on your deposits with your bank...
At the beginning of Aug 2013, both my wife and I were working for Labor Ready at the Greenspoint office in Houston, TX. At one auto auction on a Wednesday night, my wife had her ** slapped and squeezed by one of the auction people, and he told her before I got to her that she didn't have to worry that he was going to send me to another lane so I wouldn't be there. So as soon as she could, she left his lane and came over to the one he sent me to. At the end of the night, Crystal, one of the Labor Ready people, asked her why she left the lane without permission. My wife told Crystal what happened and Crystal said that she would take care it.
The next week on Tuesday morning, there was another auction. After the auction was complete, we both were hearing LR workers saying there was going to be a problem with everyone's pay. So instead of going off of what they said, why wife called the office to find out what was true. Crystal started to go off saying we would get paid but they were having problems with the fax machine. That is what everyone was saying so she said ok and hung up. We waited 45 min and I called and I was told by Christina that they're having computer problems and we would get paid as soon as they could. So I told her ok, the only reason that I was calling about it was because we didn't have gas to get home and my daughters had a doctor's appt we had to get to so they could start school on time and we were stuck on the other side of town.
So we waited again and went to Sam's Club just down the street to walk around. And that was about 1pm. We walked around for about 20-30 minutes waiting to get paid. When we got done, my wife called back to the office and talked with Crystal. My wife was asking her what was going on and if she knew anything. Crystal started yelling at her saying, "I am tired of all you low life ** that work for Labor Ready. You don't know how to ** listen". My wife back off on her cussing too but never called her names. We finally got paid at around 3pm. My wife called back to apologize for the way she had spoken to her explaining it was just because she was stressed out about our kids' doc appt and being stuck on the side of town. Crystal said she didn't care and she didn't take any ** or apologies from low-lifes like her.
The following week, my wife called to get on a work ticket for an auction and Crystal said, "Remember last week? Well, because of how you talked to me, you and your husband can not work here anymore but you can work at another LR office." So we waited and I kept on getting job offers from that office and other offices. I kept turning them down because of my school and work. Until Friday this last week on Sept 6, 2013, I received a job offer and I thought it was from another office so I took it. I called the office and talked to Becky there and she told me that the office that text me was the Greenspoint one but she told me that she has spots available too but they were further away. So I told her I had to pass and that's when I called back the other office. Crystal answered and I was completely professional with her and she told me that it was sent out by mistake and that I could start to another office. So that's what I did.
I called Becky back and told her I would take the job and I would be there after I got off work to get the ticket. She told me ok and that it was going to be for Sunday and a repeat for the following weekend. After I took the job at the other office with Becky on Aldine mail route, I texted Crystal back telling her that according to corporate that she couldn't offer me a job and take it back when I accept it. That's when I received a text from her telling me to opt out of the system. I told her no thank you because I knew that would remove me from all LR's. So the next text I tried to send came back to me because I could only assume that she removed me from the system so I opted back in and it worked fine.
When I got off work, I went to the Aldine mail route office and spoke to another lady because Becky was gone and she was having problems pulling or printing my ticket. And she said, "Oh that's why. It says on the computer in your file that on September 6, 2013, you were terminated by the regional manager Brian ** for theft." I told her that's impossible that I haven't worked for LR for at least a month. So she called the office and Crystal told her that when I called her today looking for work today, that it trigger her memory and had the regional manager terminate me. And at that time, both Crystal and the manager were there. The lady at AMR office told me there's nothing she could do and I needed to talk to the manager and he was at the office.
So me and my wife drove over there and by the time we got there, both Crystal and the manager were gone. I called corporate headquarters and told everything since the problems started and she told me that it was in the computer about the theft. But it didn't show anything about my wife's sexual harassment. All she did though email the regional manager for him to call me which he never did, and give me the number to file a formal complaint. Oh and she also told me that a couple of these auction places have requested both of us by name and Crystal had told them that she offered us the job but we declined it. She said that will start an investigation into my termination. So now me and my wife have a giant lawsuit against Crystal, the chick that works there, the regional manager, and Labor Ready.
I went on a job for Labor Ready which was an hour and a half away. They told me I would get fifty dollars for gas. Well, they taxed that $50 so I worked 8 hours which for some reason this year it's only $51.00 not $54.00 like last year. So anyway when I received my check, it was only $87.00 so what happened to the rest? It should have been $102.00. They said they get taxed for the transportation so I spent $50 out of my pocket thinking I was getting it back when instead I lost around $15. What a rip off! Anyone else have this problem? - Because I know if I go buy $20 worth of gas, that's exactly what I get.
On the morning of June 11, 2013, I showed up for work at the Labor Ready office located 10907 US Hwy 92 East suite B&C to hopefully receive a ticket for work. I did receive a ticket for a job site, WIS. I was informed by the front desk professional, ** the only thing I need to do was go over to the work site because I was asking her where my physical ticket is. She then in return asked me if I will be able to give another employee a ride. I then replied to her that my reliable transportation is my daughter's mother, Ms. Joline **. I do not have a Florida state issued driver's license.
Overhearing me, the employee that needed the ride took it upon himself and asked my daughter's mother Ms ** to give him a ride to WIS site where we would be working for the day. She said she would give him a ride, no problem. After arriving to WIS, I was told that they had too many people today so I was not able to work for that particular employer so I then returned to Labor Ready to let them know I wasn't able to work because they had too many people. That was when Ms. ** told me that she would put me down for the afternoon if any more work came in. This was around 7:15 am.
Ms. ** then gave me a call around 8:20 am. She asked me if I was still available for work. I responded yes; she then went on to say that I will be doing something with furniture and she will see me when I get there. I arrived at about 8:45 am back at Labor Ready for my ticket to go to the job site. That was when Mr. ** asked me if my daughter's mother is willing to give some other random employees a ride. She responded no. I then went back in to let Mr. ** know what she stated in response. He said, "Well, I am not going to be able to give you the job because we need someone who can give other employees a ride to the work site."
When I applied for employment with Labor Ready, I was told that I was responsible for my own transportation which I have so that was not a reason to deny me the opportunity to earn wages on 06/11/2013. Mr. ** also stated the same remarks to my daughter's mother that the reason for being denied is because she said no to giving others a ride.
I am a black man that is 62 years old. They would not accept my Social Security card in Hesperia, CA because it didn't have Jr. on it and my class B had Jr. on it. I never had a problem without Jr. on my Social Security card in 50 years.
On July 19th, 2012, I was the victim of a work place accident due 2 lack of safety equipment. I severely severed my finger when the blade on a band saw I was using broke and got my finger and pulled it into the blade. I almost lost my left index finger and still might. Immediately after it happened, the company I was at rushed me to the hospital and on my way there, I called Adam, the person who was working at Labor Ready.
The first thing he said to me when I told him what happened was "You need to come down to the office and fill out an accident report before you go to the hospital." I told him there is no way I can come to the office first. I have blood gushing out of my finger and it’s barely attached by a thread of skin. He then said “If you don’t come down here first, I’m going to write you up for insubordination and you will be in breach of contract." Really? Seriously, what a joke? So I got to the hospital, took a drug test and went into surgery.
Two weeks later, I got a job offer in the mail that says if you don’t accept, you will no longer get worker comp and this is when they know that my restrictions are to not use my left hand at all. So they called my doctor and talked to him and everything was fine. Then 3 days later, I got a call from Bonnie, the branch manager. She said "We got your drug test results back and you came back positive for something." I said what for? "She said, umm I don’t know." I said, "What do you mean you don’t know?" Then she said “for methadone”. And I said, "Yeah, I have a prescription for it. I can get it and bring it to you."
She said, "Why didn’t you tell us about it?" I told her, "Because I don’t have to by law, because it is part of a treatment program for drug abuse and dependency, and part of the state of WI." HIPAA Laws are very hard on keeping people’s medical records secret unless I want to disclose that. And I didn’t because I don’t want the whole world to know and it probably would have led to them not getting me a job. So now, I’m getting my worker comp checks and everything is fine and keep in mind that I have a 2 year old and my fiance who is disabled and waiting for an SSI hearing. So we moved in with my mother, told Labor Ready my new address and everything. It’s about 45 minutes away from Labor Ready. But I didn’t have a choice especially when I’m only getting $213.00 a week to feed 3 people. LOL, what a joke?
So now that I moved, somehow the workers comp place got my new address off by 1 number so I don’t get any checks for 4 weeks even after telling them after the first week it was wrong. At this time, my restriction is to only lift 5lbs with my left hand; no pushing, pulling, etc. I got a call from FedEx the second week in September telling me they have a package that they tried delivering numerous times and nobody answered. Really? That’s funny. I have been home and nobody came here. How convenient Labor Ready sent it to my old address. And now, FedEx wants me to drive almost an hour out of my way to pick up the package when I have no money for gas because workers comp is 3 or 4 weeks behind and I can’t even afford diapers for my kid. And I had a job offer, but of course couldn’t take it because I couldn’t pass the physical. It was with a place close by.
So now out of nowhere, this package shows up; my mom signs for it and I didn’t know till a week later and it’s a job offer at Labor Ready for anywhere from 1 to 16 hours a week for a total of $170 and no more workers comp. And I have to go to Labor Ready to confirm it so Bonnie can write up a schedule. I talked to workers comp in the meantime and they said they sent out 2 checks and that was all I had coming because I didn’t get back to Bonnie, because as soon as I get that job offer, then workers comp is no longer responsible for my pay.
I called Bonnie and tried to reason with her and she laughed at me 2 or 3 times like this is a joke and this is all my fault because I intentionally got hurt. And she has the nerve to tell me to calm down when I got upset with her for laughing. That job they offered me is $170 a week. My gas every week is over a hundred dollars. What a joke; I’m trying to make an honest living and can’t even do that. I don’t know what to do or where to go from here. But if anybody has any suggestions, please email me.
This all started back in August 2010 when large sums of money was owed to about 15 employees. I was told that the job they were sending us out for, we were supposed to b receiving $29.70 an hour and Claire was only paying $23.60 an hour to all the guys that went out. So we all were made aware of this around April of 2010 that we will be receiving the difference of every hour of every day we worked that was owed.
So every other day it was a different story they said we will be receiving the checks this day then that day, one supervisor would say it would be on Friday, then another one would say we would receive it on Tuesday. That went on for months and if I asked, I would get threatened to be fired. I would only ask them what they would tell me. Well in August 2011 we received what they said was one of the checks and it was only for the hours that I worked for 2010 and the check was for $4,800. I asked where the check for 2011 was at the end of August 2011. So from January 2011 to August 2011, I and many others were owed this money. We kept on getting threatened with termination of our jobs.
Claire knew I have a family and a pregnant wife who cannot work so I need my job. That's why no one could ask about their money. And this went on for months. Capital's own supervisors would call her at the office requesting me and I would be at the office sitting right in front of her and she would tell them, “Oh, he never showed up.” I started catching on because they started calling my cell phone and asking if I was okay because I am not one to miss work. And then Claire started the “first come, first served”, in which at labor ready corporations. That is not allowed but I played that game. The office opened at 5:30am I would be there at 4:30am, sometimes 4:15am.
I would be first and then she would say it was rotation, so no matter what rule she made up and no matter how it turned out and I was next. She would make up something new and when I would ask her how come every time it came to being my turn, she just bypassed me. She suspended me for a whole week, no warning...nothing. And about 2 weeks ago, she told I was fired because the day before, Aria told me that I was next to go out and when I came in, she sent a guy out that's already been out twice.
So I asked her, “What happened, I was next”, she called my name and when I asked her why I was terminated, she screamed for me to get the ** out or she will call the police. So I still do not understand what happened, I have been treated like a piece of crap by this woman. All I want to do is work. I do not know what she has against me. I called her for a letter of termination and she told me, “Absolutely not”, and hung up on 3 different occasions. The other supervisor, Maria, even texted my phone and told me I was wrongfully terminated. I have that saved, I have all my paystubs. And the stub from the pay back check. I need help, I owe a lot of money. I am a hard worker. All I want to do is work. She just won't let me.
As I wrote earlier this day, t should not have been a pre-requisite for me to take an online survey, pertaining to qualifications. I took this test in 2000. It's the policy to just take it one time. This should have not been asked of me. Also, there is no reason that I should have failed it. I am not a felon, I don't steal, I am not on drugs, and I don't take drugs. When I asked Daniel what AFDC stood for, he indicated, "I can't help you", yet the reason I went here is to take the safety test. That's all I should have had to take. He should have known, that I already was an employee. I have worked at this Labor Ready before, when Lisa and George worked here. This is discrimination in hiring. If you can't post this, could you please forward this to various applicable agencies? Now, I can't work at any Labor Ready. Because this at-will employee had me take a test, that I already passed.
Today, I went into this branch office to take the safety test. This is what I asked the employee behind the desk. He is described as a male Hispanic adult. Instead of him just providing me the safety test, he insisted I take an online questionnaire. Note that I have been a employee of Labor Ready, since 2000. Prior to this new employee working here, I worked under Lisa and George. Its been the practice of Labor Ready, that all employees only have to take this test once. Then after that, every year just take the safety test. He indicated that all Labor Ready offices are separate, and the computers are not interlinked.
This is a lie.I have gone to various Labor Ready offices, they have a database that is interlinked. For example, I can not work at Labor Ready city of Industry, because of fabricated facts implemented by Susan, when I borrowed and returned the sign in sheet, because it appeared she did not want to pay me when I worked at Office Depot. Their employee/floor manager retaliated, I simply asked if there is a safer way to unclog the shoot. When he was having myself and another employee go down inside a machine, that has rotating parts, that grinds garbage.
Mike ** did not want to provide me all the hours worked. The following day, Susan did not want to pay me, so I called the on duty guard of Office Depot of the City Of Industry, to validate the hours I worked. She grabbed the phone and did not want to pay me, which is a breach in contract. I asked her for my work time sheet. She refused. This left me no evidence to prove I worked at Office Depot, City of Industry. Realizing I needed supporting evidence for the Labor Board, I borrowed the sign in sheet. This was an instrument used, and required to show as evidence an employee was at a certain time in a certain place. I returned this instrument I signed. California Labor Code 432 states that any instrument an employee signs, he is entitled to a copy of it. Then she posted a blog that I stole company property. Labor Ready Corporate office condoned her (retaliation for making a complaint).
They so highly approved of Susan's fabricated facts, to the extent that they promoted her to work at the corporate office, to perhaps train others to be just like her. If other Labor Ready branch offices could see, because of her in house computer blogs in other cities, this obviously means the computer systems are interlinked. Today Mr.Daniel ** had me take a computer online test. It asked questions like, do you take drugs. My answer was no. It asks questions like, do I steal. The answer was no. It asks questions like, do I look for fights or like to fight. The answer was no. It asked me am I on food stamps. The answer was yes. It asked me if I have ever been on AFDC and other programs. I asked Mr. Daniel ** what do these terms mean. His response was ,"I'm sorry I can't help you". His job title says customer service representative.
This is misrepresentation a violation of California Labor Codes:1050-1053. How can a person answer a question, if they are not sure of what the question is asking. This is entrapment, a form of constructive discharge, a violation of California Labor Code:2922. He is also in violation of discrimination in hiring, possibly labor codes:230,230.1, 98.7. California Labor Code:232.5 states that no employer may do any of the following a. require an employee to sign a waiver o r) ( other documents that purports to deny the employee the right to disclose information about the employer's working conditions. This labor codes says allot. It could apply. When today, Mr.Daniel ** refused to just provide me the safety test, because I already took this online survey and passed it, he should have had knowledge that I did.
This was harassment. A violation of California Government Code:12900 discrimination in hiring. When I asked him what does : AFDC stand for, he should have answered my question. This is covered under the : Freedom of Information Act, The Right to Know Act, and The Public Records Act. The branch manager of this branch is responsible for his actions. Now, he indicated I failed this test, which I previously passed and should not have had to take again. He demanded I sign the instrument. He did not give me a copy of it. Also, he stated, "You should not have signed it, unless you read it first".
Labor Ready should not let the findings of this online survey be an excuse to refuse to let me work, nor should they condone of this type of hazing and harassment, or fabricated truth. The computers of Labor Ready are interlinked. He is not an employee to haze, or mislead. His job is to get displaced workers that pass the safety test, and those that already have previously passed the online survey, to just take the safety test. His job is not to show selective enforcment. His job is to be fair and impartial, and treat people like he wants to be treated, not how he wants to treat people.
His last words as he was laughing was, "now you can't work for any Labor Ready for one year, until you pass the online survey". He should be reprimanded then terminated. He is an "at -will employee". The manager of this branch is at fault. She is required to show due care (California Labor Code:2800), with best efforts. (California Labor Code:2924).
Because customer service representative Mr. Daniel **, refused to just let me take the safety test, this means no temp work. Yet, this is an organization that prides itself that they help ex-felons. I am an American veteran. I served my country honorably. I already have taken this online survey test, and previously passed it. He should have just given me the safety test, then given me some work. Most of all, the work is unskilled. How can this company call itself an equal opportunity employer, yet have a branch manager that condones making a previous employee retake the online survey.
If a person takes it one time and passes, it he or she should not have to take it again. Also, there is no reason I should not have passed it. The consequence is unemployment. Please post this. Discrimination in hire and re-hire to an honorably discharged veteran. Labor Ready, ** CA 92683. Phone: (714) 901-9675.
I had worked for Labor Ready many times in the past. You could say that I became somewhat of a regular for a time. The worker at the front desk loved the positive comments about my work ethic that he got from the places he sent me to for employment, so much in fact that he started saving the best jobs for my brother and me to have because we were always the best dressed and had the best attitudes.
Recently being laid off from my fulltime job, I decided to go back to college and find part-time work. Labor Ready came to mind immediately because I could work it into my schedule. When I went in to see what I needed to do to begin work, I was told that I needed to fill out an application and that they were only taken on Mondays. Being that it was a Friday, I left and made plans to be back bright and early on Monday morning.
To my avail, on Monday morning, I was also told that there were not enough Labor Ready employees available to allow me to fill out an application because one of them was driving workers to and from job sites. I have my own vehicle and would also be willing to transport workers just like I used to before this application process. I just really want to fill out the application so that I can begin making money to support my family, but I feel like the employees at this Labor Ready are just too lazy to allow me to do so. They won't give me a time to come back. They only said to call at 8 am and that applications are taken at 9 am. This makes no sense to me. Why can't I fill out an application form at any time of the day or why can't I at least be told a specific time?
I am unemployed at the moment and this is why I'm trying Labor Ready. I have already wasted gas driving there for three days and also paid a ridiculous amount of money for a daycare to watch my child when I could have done it myself. I called True Blue but they can't help anyone either. This is a great way to make money when you really need it, but it's hard to do that if you can't even get the beginning process out of the way.
The standards and the worker preference that Christine, a branch manager, goes by are sad and reflect poorly on Labor Ready as an industry. I have recently had to return to Labor Ready between jobs so I could "get by" with gas and transportation. By no means have I been trying to count this as a career. The last couple of times I've tried to rely on Labor Ready, I had not been sent out or even acknowledged. I simply signed in and took a seat. I was dressed appropriately, had brought a lunch, have a car, and a good cell number for contact.
Not to mention, I've been dispatched from this same branch many times in the past and am aware of what type of work is available and that I do qualify for the majority of assignments. So here I am, dressed and ready to work. I sat and heard the phone rang. And then Christine made a call, and I overheard her telling the receiver that she has a job and asking how soon she can be there. I was shocked!
So I waited, and again, another phone call came in. And another call went out to someone who wasn't even ready! Then another call.... She then called 4 men to the front counter, told them they had a job and asked if they were dressed for the job. The one man had on b-ball shorts and running shoes; another came in with his sandals on. They both stated they would need to run home and change! Really! I understand the "best match" standard, but I have always came dressed and prepared for the job and am frustrated when this happens. I cannot lower my self to kissing butt and providing lattes, just so I can get a daily job.
I believe highly in fairness, and although there is absolutely nothing I can do but complain on a blog, I'll continue to sit and pray for the day I get sent out to work, so I can scrounge up enough money to get gas to continue to drive my kids to school. Unlike the many (not all) who only come to work to get enough money for beer and cigarettes, my personality is that of which I tell people what I think and voice my opinions.
But, in this case, it would only put me lower on the list and further from her mind for work. I have made complaints to corporate, but I'm looked at as just an uneducated bum looking for drinking money... ha... Not really. I've gone to college to be a computer tech and am currently a Nursing student just trying to raise my kids. But no thanks to the economy and self-absorbed people, I am forced into this cat-and-mouse game called Labor Ready. Thank you and goodbye.
Today, May 19, 2011, I arrived at 05:30 A.M. to work. Cathy called me to the front lobby desk. She had not one skilled job. To work for a company named Valley Crest, the job is racking for eight hours on the side of a mountain. Note: After I have asked her more than one time to please not ask me to give rides and provide transportation to people I do not know, she did it again. I never read it anywhere that this is a pre-requisite to working for Labor Ready. I could have made $58.00. Yet she sent lots of people on jobs who do not have cars.
But to depend on other people to provide them rides--how is this (Best Match Dispatch)? Numerous temps here depend on others for a ride. Also, I asked Cathy if she could have helped me on gas. She refused. Normally, they help people with an advance--meaning, they just deduct from the amount of money earned.
Also, as a result, I made no money for gas or to buy minutes for my TracFone. To what extent of this hazing and harassment does True Blue or Silent Whisper intervene? If this is not harassment, what is? Government Code:12900. Retaliation for making a complaint. Labor Code:6310. Constructive discharge. Labor Code:2922. Why can't they provide us new staff that does not show favoritism in dispatching work? Also that do not demand or make it a condition of employment to give rides just to get work? Will the manager condone of Cathy's actions today?
It appears on more than one occasion. I come or arrive early to work, yet, it appears the office staff pass me up for work. With permission of the branch manager, William **. The work is primarily general labor. I past the safety test. Note: not one time have I been sent out to work by me. Cathy sent me to the wrong address. Yet, these actions needs to be approved of by True Blue of the Labor Ready Corporation. Why? It's suppose to be an equal opportunity employer. It's March 24,2011. Note: I have only been sent on three jobs for one month. Some of the employees appear to have a back ground. I am not better. I just want to work. I am a veteran. Why doesn't True Blue correct this? Are they not in charge?
Recently, I requested to speak with the branch manager, William ** in private. His response is about the economy and not too many jobs. Yet, today there was the opportunity to go on a job to work at the Anaheim Hilton, 777 Convention Way Anaheim ,Calif 92802. The prerequisites were black paints black t-shirt. Another temporary provided this. Yesterday, the same people were sent out. Cathy would not give me no work. Why? I work safe.
I would like True Blue to be investigated. This is not in good ethics and is selective enforcement. Today I asked Cathy if they were going to send me to anyone else. They indicated no and that's it for now. I responded, "Thanks for all the work. " I came to this Labor Ready since Monday at between 05:30AM and 06:00 AM. Yet, some employees were sent out not even in the office but were called in. Why True Blue?
Yesterday I was given a job as a temporary employee. I have been out of work for some time. My previous job was seasonal. So, I came here to work to obtain some funds to fix my car. Sir William ** called me to the front lobby desk. He stated, "Are you ready to work hard?" Then, I replied, "Yes." Cathy, it appears, deliberately gave me false and misleading information. She gave me the following directions to a job site I had never been to: 2031 S. Anne St., Santa Ana, CA 92704. I called the client and left a message. His name is Ron. I called the Labor Ready branch. I asked for directions. It sounded too confusing so I drove to the office to get some directions. I finally made it to the job site. My job was to do demolition or construction clean up. When I arrived, the client Ron was gone for the day. The job site was 7 Shell Beach, Newport Beach, CA 92657. I was instructed to come back to the office. I was paid for two hours. Mr. William ** stated he was sorry.
If Cathy really wanted me to get some work, she would have provided the correct directions. This was prior to handing me the paperwork. Prior to this, she offered me a job and then gave it to someone else. She sent me to the Social Security office to verify I was authorized to work. This was after I have been a previous employee. After this, Cathy of Labor Ready, Costa Mesa had me take two people in my car. On one occasion, the first guy offered no gas money and yelled out of the window. The second guy offered no gas money and threw a cigarette out the window. In 2010, after waiting many times in the lobby, even after arriving early, Cathy did not provide me any work, except for the two four-hour jobs.
Today, approximately 7:40 am, Feb. 4, 2011, I received a ticket because I was parked at Norms and did not want to get a ticket. I made a left on Harbor and another left into Labor Ready. So, the officer gave a ticket. The parking at this Labor Ready is bad. There were three parking stalls for staff only, two for temporary employees. Today I overheard Sir William ** offer two other temporary employees work for this weekend. He offered me nothing. This selective enforcement is perfectly okay with the corporate office. Yet yesterday, Cathy gave me false and misleading information. The corporate office appears to condone the violation of Labor Code 1050-1053.
She paid me for two hours. She should have given me the correct directions and ahead of time so I could have been to the client on time. Her actions appear to be deliberate with the motive and intent to retaliate and harass. The only ones that don't complain are the ones she gives work to, with permission of Sir William **. I have arrived with no work. Their slogan would be “best match dispatch”. How many jobs since the beginning of 2011 have been those type of jobs that require a state license or extensive years of experience? Perhaps upon investigation, the answer would be or could be zero to none.
Today, I went to Labor Ready in the City of Fullerton, California. I walked up to the front lobby. I was informed by Maria to come back on Tuesdays at 2:30 pm. Then, Steve ** called me over to his portion of the front lobby desk. He mentioned or asked me my name. He then looked something up on his computer. He appeared to start brow beating me and badgering me pertaining to leaving some job. He asked why I supposedly left a ten-hour job and only did six hours. I asked if this is in writing. He then used silence of an entity.
This is based on time of discovery. California Government Code: 911.64 and 911.23. He also did not provide the name of the company he is accusing me of leaving. He should have. In constitutional law, the 6th Amendment states the right to know what you are accused of and who your accuser is. It does not say it must be in a court of law. He should provide all the facts, not just be judge and jury. He should provide all the facts prior to posting any negative blogs on any person. He should have provided the name of this so-called company that is insinuating that I had advanced knowledge pertaining to a ten hour job that I left for a six hour.
The reason he should have provided this information is it is covered under the freedom of information act, the public records act, also the right to know act. Then, when he could not offer this reasonable information, he said, "Get out. I don't like you're attitude." Isn't this discrimination in hiring under Government code 12900? Recently in 2010, I was the first one in line; signed the first on the sign-in sheet. He again stated, "Get out. You look too tired." An employee standing outside agreed that we're all tired. Look how early we have to be here? The office opens at 5:00 am.
This is the second time Steve ** has been rude and arrogant without good cause. What I fail to understand is the company advertises it's an equal opportunity employer. Yet isn't Steve ** required to show due care: California Labor Code 2800? How does his choice of words coincide with Labor Ready company policy? "Get out of here. I don't like you're attitude." Just because I asked him if it were in writing that I had advanced knowledge of a ten hour shift or because I asked him for the name of the company that he is accusing me of leaving early.
I suppose this is okay with the corporate office. Most of the employees are ex-convicts and a very small portion is composed of displaced workers. Isn't Steve ** the same branch manager that was in charge of sending an intoxicated female to work at the Fullerton Car Auction? The answer is yes. She was intoxicated and caused lots of monetary damage. Who was in charge? Steve **, Manager of Fullerton Labor Ready. Also, another former employee informed me he got his toes smashed at the Brea account, where doors were required to be moved. He indicated that since workman compensation was involved, he was also experiencing hazing and harassment from office staff .Who again is in charge? Branch manager, Steve **.
How does corporate Labor Ready condone him as an employee when it appears that he shows a pattern of willful neglect and harassment? He should be polite. If a person is being accused of an issue, prior to posting a blog, he should obtain all the facts rather than be judge and jury. I do recall a certain construction contractor that laughed extensively when I informed him the mobile heavy equipment operator wet my entire body with a hose. He then signed my paper as I was drenched and very wet. Maria, at times in the past, reflected to some account they claim I left early.
However, to this day, I can't recall or see anything in writing that I was offered a ten hour job. Could all this retaliation stem from the slanderous remarks coming out of Labor Ready in the City of Industry? This is where branch manager Brenda ** works. They are all interlinked. Or is Steve ** allowed to talk to people like garbage by permission of True Blue, Shawna? To this day, she is perfectly okay with the slander coming out of the City of Industry. She is under Brenda**. Why is Steve ** allowed to verbally abuse people? Just because I asked if this was in writing that I had advanced knowledge pertaining to a ten hour job which I left for a six hour job or just because I asked for the name of that company, his response this morning at 6:30 am. was, "Get out of here. I don't like you're attitude."?
What he was really saying is he does not consider me American enough to be entitled to have the opportunity to use the First Amendment in public policy. With the fact that I was honoring my religious beliefs to the extent as I exercised them, it appears that he showed discrimination to my religious beliefs. So, he does not respect my beliefs. And because he refused to honor my religious beliefs, his verbal abuse with aggressive arrogance was as follows "Get out of here. I don't like you're attitude!" What he really meant was you are not American enough to be able to exercise you're freedom of speech within the First Amendment and within public policy. What he also meant was that he does not want people to think any different than himself.
It says in the Holy Bible, "He that studies a situation is wise." So, today, I was striving to study the situation that branch manager Steve ** showed discrimination to my religious beliefs. He refused to show supporting evidence that I had advanced knowledge of a ten hour shift. He also used silence of an entity based on time of discovery, California Government Codes: 911.64 and 911.23, when all I asked him was the name of the accusing company that is accusing me of leaving early. I asked Steve for all the evidence that he refused to comply with my verbal requests, yet he should have provided this information under the Freedom of Information Act, the Right to Know Act, the Public Records Act, or even the 6th Amendment - the right to know what you are accused of and who you're accuser is.
Therefore, everyone must see things like he does or they're wrong. This is completely against public policy because it allows Steve ** to show discrimination to people's religious beliefs. This is a violation of Government Code 12900. His choice of words are also not in the employee handbook that he signed when he agreed to work for Labor Ready as a representative. Where in the employee handbook does it state to verbally and falsely yell and accuse someone of an act without all the facts? For example, if Steve ** is insinuating that I left some job, what are the mitigating circumstances? Was I hurt or drenched and water soaked? Or was he being told by the corporate office to find anything to make a case? Since Shawna of True Blue is condoning of the slander and deformation coming out of Labor Ready City of Industry.
This is where Susan used to work, where Sofia could still work, and Brenda Lopez was allowed to post half-truths of slander and defamation of character to acts she never noticed in her person or in front of her. The Holy Bible in Romans Chapter 3 verses 10 says, "None are righteous. No, not one." California Labor Code 2924 states that for an act to be an act, it must be proven that the act was willful with motive and intent. Did Brenda ** prove this? No. Then, why is Shawna of the corporate office of True Blue aiding and abetting the slander coming out of City of Industry? Why is Shawna of True Blue Labor Ready Corporate office condoning to the discrimination in hiring and the verbal abuse by Steve **, branch manager Fullerton Labor Ready 696 E. Commonwealth Ave. Fullerton CA 92831, and also the policy Best Match Dispatch.
If all the people who were waiting in the lobby passed the test, why the favoritism? It should be, why slumber pick a number? This stops the office staff from showing selective enforcement or showing favoritism. Also, the office staff should not ask people to give rides. It's the responsibility for people that shows up to get their own ride.
Today, I went to Labor Ready Costa Mesa, California. Yesterday, I waited all day for work but nothing. Cathy did have my phone number but she did not call me even once. Prior to this, for the year of 2010, she only gave me two jobs. On some occasions, I did have some temporary long term jobs in between. When I asked the new branch manager, William ** for a good reference, he hesitated. He has his cushy little job. The employees are out there striving to work hard and the least that he could do is to provide a good reference. The corporate office is indifferent and they know what I have to say.
Cathy asked me twice to give rides, as though I am a taxi service, to some people that I do not even know. Both occasions were two bad experiences. The first guy yelled out the window and did not offer gas money. The second guy threw a cigarette out the window subjecting me to a ticket. She worded this to me in such a format as it sounded like a condition for getting work. This appears to be hazing.
Today, Cathy bluntly and arrogantly told me to move my car so the other female staff could park her car. William ** is supposed to be the manager but he appears to be a biased, has favoritism, arrogant and egocentric. There are only two places to park. But he himself and his two prima donnas have three parking spots. My question is prior to William ** arriving, I have been on many jobs. I strive to work safe and as directed. Yet, since this empty arrogant has been here, his two arrogant prima donnas only gave me approximately two jobs for the entire year of 2010. I would hope to find a good lawyer to sue Labor Ready for allowing this hazing and discrimination. This repeat garbage is exactly this.
If this company is an equal opportunity employer, they should give every one the opportunity to work honestly and safely. Also, the staff should be aware that any full and long-term employee, as well as, short-term employee is entitled to a copy of anything they sign. If corporate Labor Ready is an equal opportunity employer, then why am I always complaining about Brenda **, branch manager of the City of Industry, in her false, half truths. It now appears that corporate Labor Ready could now be retaliating against me for making a complaint. This is obviously constructive discharge. I can't even count the times I came early and waited for a job, yet see the same people going out. With obvious favoritism approved of by the corporate office, I can't be that bad. Labor Ready has never paid me for a workman compensation claim.
Why is corporate Labor Ready allowing William ** to use selective enforcement? Why can't he do anything about the parking so employees can park their cars while waiting for a job? I can't count how many times I waited for a job to see Cathy walk out of Labor Ready laughing and joking. Could it be because William ** allows them to abuse their position and show favoritism in giving jobs? It's all primarily general labor. I did loading and unloading jobs, demolition, hole digging. How many other people have observed favoritism by William **?
If they can't be equal opportunity employers, maybe the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission should shut them down. The Labor Ready in the City of Industry is still run by Brenda **. Here I am, an American veteran. They used to have posters of joining the Army National Guard. I served seven years in the Army, seven years in the Marines and seven years in the Army National Guard. I served in Operation Restore Hope and Operation Desert Shield. Yet the corporate office of Labor Ready condone this selective enforcement, hazing, harassment in giving and in the distribution of all primarily general labor jobs.
Most of the temporary employees, from what I have observed, are ex-convicts and some are displaced workers that could have recently got laid off. The right way to distribute these general labor jobs without giving opportunity for any of the staff to show bigotry or to be biased is to have a number that would carry over until the end of the week. This will work and can work because if a person can't do the job, he can refuse the job. The staff at Labor Ready should give the job and pay correctly the same day. Also, they should not put any private information on the counter to be displayed to the public like payroll check information.
Recently, I spoke with True Blue. The female apparently appeared to be very ignorant to hazing and harassment. It's not what she was subjected to, it's what the victim was subjected to. She appeared to choose not a mediator position, but rather a none caring, nonchalant position. So, True Blue is the excuse to justify favoritism and false write ups like Brenda ** has in the City of Industry.
Jesus Christ said, "First, take the beam out of your eye before we try to take the speck out of someone else." So, what legal actions can be brought at this time is unknown. But hopefully, other victims can and eventually will rise to the occasion in discrimination and in the distribution of work. Perhaps, these actions could be somehow persuaded at and from the corporate office. Why is Brenda ** being allowed to post her slander and continue her discriminating in hiring and providing work in the City Of Industry? For an act to be an act, it must be proven that the act was willful and deliberate.
