Mailed payment for my balance in full to Target 10 days prior to payment due date. 3 weeks later my payment has still not been applied and I was informed by customer service "they are extremely busy and it can take up to 21 days to apply a payment to my account." 21 days. (Check payments made to other banks - Discover, Wells Fargo - were applied to those accounts within 7 days).

In the meantime, I have incurred both a late fee and had to pay an additional payment to my account. Plus, I will now have a "late" ding on my credit report - the ONLY late payment for any account in many years. At this point, I am zero faith in them ever crediting my check to my account. Target has lost my trust. They might do an OK job as a discount retailer, but they are a disaster when it comes to banking.

I was one of the millions of victims of fraud via Target's red card. My total was well over $500 taken out of my checking account because I mistakenly used their red card and tied it to my bank account. What a disaster! After reporting all of the fraud to my bank and removing their access (through my bank) to my checking account, Target is now coming after me for all of the charges that are fraudulent and trying to tack on an additional $35 fee per transaction! I have called their "customer service" multiple times to no avail. I can never get through and today, there is a recording that their "system is down." What a joke. I am shocked and disgusted at their lack of integrity.

To allow security breaches was bad enough, but to come after someone who was defrauded BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN INTERNAL LACK OF SECURITY to me is unfathomable. As a long-time Target shopper, I am sickened to be treated this way. I can honestly say that I am boycotting this company and will NEVER EVER shop there again. Wal-Mart and the like will now get all of my business. I hope Target sales take a big hit from this horrible treatment of their customers. It should not pay for businesses to treat people horribly when they have already been defrauded due to the company's negligence. Join me in boycotting Target, the morally bankrupt company.

I was on a payment arrangement with Target's Redcard. I was nearing the end of the term, so I figured I would pay it off early and get my credit restored. I called Target twice to verify that I could do this. So I made the payment then, as per instructions, I called with the confirmation number to have the code removed and my credit restored. First, it took me 55 minutes to even get through to anyone--calls kept dropping, then they'd say they had to transfer me and then I'd be on hold again, and so on. Finally I got through to a real person, who then told me sorry, they couldn't remove the code until the end of January because--even though I'd paid off the agreement early that's when it was scheduled to drop off. And this in spite of two reps telling me otherwise. They claimed it was a federal law! Really?? They'd get into trouble because they released a code early because a consumer/customer actually paid something off early?? It makes no sense whatsoever!

Security Breach - The minute I heard about the theft and realized I had used my Target Visa credit card 10 times during the time frame, I immediately checked my online account. It was still correct. Thank goodness. But I kept trying to call the phone number they gave us to use. Keep being told to hang up. I finally emailed corporate headquarters and asked to have a new card issued with new number, new expiration and new security code. I received an email from Melissa stating that that would not be necessary and that no new cards were being issued but instead to watch my email for information on how to receive one year free credit monitoring. I emailed back and stated that was like wondering why the horses got out because I closed the barn door too late.

I have already been the victim of identity theft once due to irresponsibility on part of my health insurance company and it took me over 20 years to dig myself out including going to court to get a new name issued to me and rebuilding my credit history and credit score. I sure do not want to lose a credit score of 800. I don't need the extra stress of this either hanging over my head as I am recovering from surgery. Now today I noticed I no longer have a minimum due on my account nor a due date of January 11, 2014 so I have no idea why that was changed from yesterday.

I tried once again to call them yesterday and nothing, so I sent another email and stated if nothing was done about the request for a new card I was going to have my Dr. call Walgreens with new prescriptions. If this is the thanks of doing business for close to 18 years with Target and been a target Visa holder since 2002, then I guess they don't care whether they go bankrupt or not, but I care about my identity very much. But I will never shop Target again. Most companies the minute they know about a breach of security they immediately start issuing new credit cards for all customers. But I guess that costs about $3 to $5 per card to issue so I guess that is too much money to spend on customer's safety. Must be a company that the executives do not realize without customers they don't get paid. Get real Target and do something wonderful for all your scared customers.

Free credit monitoring is like a slap in the face. Once the damage is done, it is done. I bet Target won't stand with you trying to clear your name, credit rating, etc. once you get taken for a ride. I also believe that if the hackers don't use all the credit cards now, they will try again in 1 to 2 years. This is not over by a long shot. Please Target listen to us customers, please issue new cards, and just maybe we will stand by you too.

I did not have my Redcard on Black Friday to shop online and called Target.com to see if I could get the "5%" Redcard discount applied to my order after shopping. I was told, "Go ahead and buy everything", "no problem we will just adjust the price for you later." After spending over $1000, they have now wasted 3 hours of my time by putting me on hold for 20 minutes and then hanging up (on 5 consecutive calls!!!!) & sending me to the store to try to speak to a manager (who, of course, referred me to call customer service). Apparently, the "Target policy" to honor the 5% discount for Redcard holders requires the customer service agent to make a notation on the account before the purchase... However, none of the three Target.com service agents made any notations on my account - how convenient for Target. Lesson learned: TARGET DOES NOT HONOR THEIR WORD. I will never trust anyone from that company again, especially seeing how they treat their most loyal consumers behind the scenes. You would think after such a huge security breach of their customers' financial information they would want to do the right thing.

I recently called Target's customer service (12/23/13 @ 8:35 a.m.) regarding my target Redcard. I called because I noticed that an unfamiliar purchase was made using my Target card/account. According to my bank, the purchase was made on 12/22/13 or 12/23/13. I haven't used my Target card in about a week. When I called & spoke w/ Denise about my concerns, she was neither sympathetic nor friendly. Considering Target's recent security issues, it should have been no surprise that a customer would call with concerns an unfamiliar charge. Denise stated that the charges were made over a week ago, but I explained to her that my bank had already informed that the charge was made using my routing & account number, not used in the store.

I haven't made a Target purchase online this year. Her response was, "Well, it was the 18th." After continuing to be treated as a bother; I asked Denise to cancel my card. I was initially worried about keeping my Target card due to the breach in security. However, I was assured that if there were any banking issues it would be a hassle free process in having the matter resolved. I did NOT make this purchase and Target is NOT making any efforts to help their customers. If Denise is any indication of how customers are treated or valued, I regret not cancelling my card sooner. I have been a Target shopper for nearly 10 years & have had a Target card since 2011. I will NEVER shop at Target again.

I got through at 11:30 PM, entered the last 4 digits of my Target Red Card, pressed the # key, the last 4 digits of my Social Security number, pressed the # key, chose option 4, chose option 3 to cancel the Target Red Card. The system then tried to transfer me to an agent but all were helping other Target Red Card customers. I was put on hold. I kept getting a message they were busy helping other customers and thanking me for staying on hold. I hung up the phone at 4:30 AM after being on hold for 5 hours. I need to cancel this card because of the identity theft possibility caused by their security breach. Target is not performing their customer service obligations. I tried calling the number on the back of the Target Red Card the morning of 12-21-2013 but again got nothing but busy signals. Target is not properly staffed to support their customer services during this security breach issue.

For you trolls who defend the Target Red Card, you obviously work for Target. I know many people, myself included, who are completely done shopping at Target due to being asked to open up a red card, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I. GO. SHOPPING!!! Even the time I ended up going back to Target a second time within 10 minutes, because I went out to my truck and remembered that one item I forgot, I went in the SAME line, with the SAME cashier, and she asked me if I wanted to open a red card, AGAIN!!! And they don't just stop there and take NO for an answer. Most of those pathetic cashiers keep pushing it after they clearly see the customer is agitated. I started telling the cashier right as it was my turn in line, "NO, I don't want your Red card!!" They would still push it! Well now I'm a 100% Walmart shopper due to their annoying marketing tactics!

I don't care if many of you talk bad about Walmart, guess what? BOTH Walmart & Target use the same Chinese sweat shops and it's a proven fact that Target actually pays their typical sales associates LESS than Walmart does, and we all know Walmart pays very low wages!! So why would anyone go back to Target? Target even steals from its customers and manufacturers! Sometime last year or so, Target changed their return policy where if you used a manufacturer coupon on an item, in the event that you returned that item, you would be refunded the coupon amount to a Target GIFT CARD! That is the most ridiculous thing ever! I was explained that people would buy and return stuff all the time and get the coupon back as cash, but their new return policy will not fix that problem because those people just get the coupon money back on a Target gift card.

Meanwhile, honest people as myself have a real problem with this new way of Target stealing money. Since I stopped shopping at Target completely, I will go into a Target if my Walmart is out of something. It just so happens that I had to go into Target about 8 months ago to purchase a razor for my husband. It was the same price at both stores but my Walmart didn't have it in stock. I had a $10 coupon off the razor so I finally went to buy it. I was in the check out and forgot to hand the cashier my coupon. I rarely use coupons to begin with. As soon as I walked out of the store, I remembered and turned around and went back in to the service desk. I explained that I JUST checked out and forgot my coupon. The cashier put the $10 on a Target gift card! I DON'T shop at Target anymore so this is useless to me! It's 8 months later and I still have this stupid $10 gift card. So I am stuck, at some point, returning to Target to use it! So I really didn't save any money by using the $10 coupon, because that money is not in my pocket, it is on a Target gift card! Avoid Target! You will pay less at Walmart and not be ** around for a lousy $10 coupon!

Around Nov. 12 statement was received indicating that a New Balance of $739.96 was owed. The period closes around the 9th of each month. The due date for minimum payment was Dec 6. Auto pay is setup to pay the balance for Dec 6. Payments toward statement were made on the following dates: 11/30/2013 PAYMENT MADE AT TARGET AUSTIN TX 250, 11/25/2013 PAYMENT MADE AT TARGET AUSTIN TX 400. The amount expected to be charged through auto pay was $89.96.

On Dec 6 the Target Red Card site indicated the following charge - 12/6/2013 AUTO PAYMENT 669.17 Department Store.

This is not a possible amount that could be derived from any possible scenarios. Option 1 ($739.96 original amount), Option 2 (739.96-$400-$250=$89.96), $739.96-$250=$489.96 or $739.96-$400=$339.96. I suspend payment and contacted Target to dispute this... A confirmation was received that that payment was suspended. HOWEVER it still went through. Target did agreed to pay the fees associated with transaction. Between 12-9 and 12-12 no action could be made to account while waiting for fund to adjust for return of $669.17 payment attempt.

12-10 In my attempt to ascertain how $669.17 could be calculated I totaled all purchased made for history of account and subtracted this amount from the total history of payments. The results are as follows: Total History of Payments $3849.28, Total History of Purchases $3722.46, Amount owed to me by Target $126.82. I contacted Target to bring this to Targets attention. Amber ** created ticket number **. Dec 13, $669.17 is returned back to Target. 12/10/2013 RETURNED PAYMENT FEE - $25 Fees; 12/10/2013 RETURN PAYMENT INTEREST CHARGE ADJUSTMENT - $1.68 Finance Charges; 12/10/2013 AUTO PAY RETURNED PAYMENT - $669.17 Fees; New charge total $695.85.

I contact Target again to find out the status of investigation and to have Target honor its promise made to investigate the issue and not charge any fees. Target refused to honor its promise and refused to perform any audit on my account in spite of all proof presented. Target has extorted me for the amount approximate to $126.82. Target has refused to pay this money owed to me and continues to refuse to perform any sort of account inquires. How do I collect on money and/or how do I submit for charges of extortion. Where if I have a choice or success, I would prefer to file for extortion then only if that is not a simple solution. Then my second choice is for suit of $126.82 plus any other cost associated and any pain and stress Target's extortion.

(Amazing) This is the only word that I can simply use to describe this card. They have a Debit or Credit. Many people who have a problem with this card do not truly understand how it works, pay their bills on time, or do not keep track of their finances. Target really tries their best even to help you out by putting your Red Card transactions on their website. Click Manage your Red Card on Target.com to find this out. They process your transactions within 24 hours. It depends what bank you have but normally the Debit takes 2-3 days but it would be the same exact thing as writing a check and waiting for it to process with your own bank.

So the Real Question is "Why Does Target do this"! Target is a Huge Corporation just like many other Big Corporations they want to save money and gain money the best ways possible. Any time a Cardholder of Any Kind uses a different card at their store it charges them a "Cover Fee". Simply put with Target's Own Card they eliminate this fee by giving the cash back to you instead of the bank itself. It also makes you shop at their store instead of someone else's. But if you already shop at Target there is no reason not to get this!

Now it's time for the real question. Would you rather spend money with a different card and make Target pay a fee to the bank get points that usually only add up to (2% to 3%) or cash back that takes months? Or Would you rather use a card like the Target Debit or Credit that has the exact same benefits as your own card gives you 5% off your total each purchase (Which is pretty much SALES TAX) Gives 1% of a School of your choice for (FREE) if you register a school and get free online shipping with an extra 30 days on returns? I Personally Like To Save Money So I Would Pick (OPTION 2) All The Way. If 90% of the Economy Would Think This Way We Would Not Be In Debt.

P.S If you do not think you need another card because it takes up more room in your wallet then why not get rid of the card you use that does not save you money?

I am very frustrated with Target. I had taken out their redcard that is supposed to save you 5% on all purchases. I had gotten no call from Target re the account or late fees. I had received 2 bills in the mail stating that I owed on the account. What makes the situation 10 times worse is that I have yet to receive the card from Target and am being billed for a service I did not and have not received. Getting customer service on the phone is ridiculous, in over several months I'm just receiving a call re payment on said account. I guess when they figured it had gotten to a certain amount, that they would try and contact me. I am at a loss for words and very disappointed in Target's lack of consideration for their customers. I end up paying triple for the products I had initially purchased. Worst experience yet.

I thought it was a good idea to open a Target red card while shopping in the store. This red card is NOT a credit card, but rather a debit card that is linked to your checking account. The problem is, I have 2 accounts. One for bills, the other for purchases. I was prepared to pay with the debit card I was using for purchases, but was told I could not receive the discount unless I used an account that has checks on it. So, I gave the cashier a blank check to use- which was linked to my bill checking account.

Unfortunately, when the charge hit the account, the funds were unavailable since I had forgotten to transfer the money. I transferred the funds and the balance ($30.00) was paid. I thought this was the end. About 2 weeks later, I received a letter from Target COLLECTIONS stating that I owe them $35 in fees even though I paid the bill. That's funny, didn't see that in the fine print. And of course, the cashier didn't mention it. My fault yes, but $35 is ridiculous especially for a new customer that made a mistake. So now my $30 purchase just cost me $60+... Not happy to say the least and closing my account ASAP!

I got this card 5 years ago when I was beginning to build credit. I have had trouble since day one. Most of the time it is for bogus fees they charged. This year is when I just lost all respect for the company and credit card service part. I was checking my credit score and noticed that I had a delinquent account which I was very confused about. Come to find out they charged me a dollar for a minimum fee randomly one month. I called them and they said that they sent me a notice in the mail but it was the wrong address so after that they keep charging you late fees and don't attempt to do anything else. I called to make a payment over the phone, three times it was returned and my bank said they didn't even attempt to collect payment. Finally I tried a 4th time, it worked, magically.

Now I keep getting notices in the mail about returned payments. I called them and they said "they are just catching up from the last time". They also send me incorrect statements saying I still owe them money but when I call it says zero balance. If I hadn't originally built credit with them a long time ago I would cancel this card. Don't ever get one!

After being advised of summer address - never sent statements to said address. When returned to permanent address, found statement that had late charge and interest added to a/c - late charge is more than any a/c I could locate - unreasonable. I sent in the June payment because I called and they refunded the late charge; however, they would not reverse the late charge on the next statement even though they did not send the statement to the summer address as directed. The time I called to request balance because I did not receive statement as requested. I was treated rudely by the first person I spoke to - talked like a broken record - and when I was called backed by a supervisor - after numerous requests - was told their policy was only to forgive one late charge and did not wish to hear that they had not changed address as requested and if they did their bill would have been paid timely - as it had for many years in the past.

It is not the service I expected from Target and I feel sorry for the people who pay late out of circumstances beyond their control. They are not responsive to legitimate requests caused by their own incompetence. Not what one would expect from them. But in the long run, they are just money hungry. Their service claim - all around - is just not true.

I received a Red Card in the mail 2 months ago without applying. I used it twice for small purchases and noticed that a month had passed and I hadn't gotten a statement. I thought this was highly unusual, but thought that maybe they were just late in getting them mailed out. I got an email today that they were trying to "collect a debt." I called the 1-800 number provided and told them the situation. Said I would be more than happy to pay the charges (under $100) if I could just get a statement. The customer service rep was Tricia and she was extremely unhelpful and basically accused me of lying about not getting a statement. I assured her this was NOT the case and that I had been wondering myself why I had not gotten anything.

She finally said it must have gotten "re-routed" in the mail. Highly unlikely since I've never had an issue with that before and I honestly don't even know what that MEANS! Tricia said they had assessed my account a late charge and were about to report it to collections! I told her that wouldn't be necessary because I was going to give her permission to draft the entire balance from my checking account (once she removed the late charge!) and then TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT permanently. That I wouldn't be shopping at a place with such shoddy customer service.

I hate to blacklist Target because I really do prefer shopping there, but that type of treatment of a longtime, loyal customer due to a BILLING ERROR on the part of the credit card company is completely unacceptable. And I WILL be telling everyone I can think of and warning them of how Target TRULY feels regarding their customers.

I called last September 7th, 2013 to customer service and an employee confirmed that my account was okay since my payment was made. Two days later, my account was closed and reported to the credit bureau agencies. This is funny considering that 48 hours ago, the same company was confirming that my account was fine.

I was able to have one or two of them removed but not all.

This was very annoying but they assured me there was nothing else they could do to help. In the following months I used the card occasionally and paid it off each time as normal. Then several months lapsed without use and I was unaware of an existing balance. I yet again stopped receiving emails without noticing. I have several other cards in which I get paper and electronic statements and I guess it slipped my mind.

Nevertheless, I tried to use the card the other day and it declined. I checked online and sure enough there was a balance and tons of fees. I was reported late to the credit reporting bureau and they will do nothing about it. I checked my email for spam and the last email I received was in nearly 5 months ago. I did auto-bill pay on August 29th of $50.00 without knowing this was such an important matter. On September 1, I received an email on my phone stating that there was a "bill collection problem" and I need to contact them. I wasn't sure if it was a phishing scam or not, and I was on vacation so I did not contact them. I came home today and there was another "bill collection problem" letter awaiting me. Really, 9 days late and I've gone to bill collection? I'm insulted.

I immediately paid the full balance (with a $25.00 fine for being late) and decided to cancel the card (I don't need to deal with companies that operate like this). So I tried calling. It took me over 20 minutes of dialing to get to a live person (in India). She couldn't help. Kept dialing, looking for a live person. Connected with someone else who told me that it was impossible to cancel my card today. I actually stated, "There is not one person in the world today that can cancel my card for me?" He replied that no, I would need to call back tomorrow. I cut up the card and wrote on the bill that I want the card cancelled immediately and it goes in the mail tomorrow. I am very disappointed with this company and will not do business with them again.

I made $32.99 charges to my target card. I sent in my payment 2 weeks late for $32.99. What I didn't realize was the minimum balance due was $51.99, due to the late charge. Two weeks later I get a letter for an attempt to collect a debt, and another $35.00 fee (total fee's $60.00). When I called customer service they told me they will waive the 1st fee of $25.00, but the $35.00 remains. I also had to give them my banking routing number, which didn't set well with me. I paid the fees and asked the rep to cancel my card. He said as of now they haven't put a mark on my credit score, but if I cancel my card they will. Really... cancel the card now! The Worst card I have ever had. Oh yeah he also informed I will never be able to get a TARGET CARD in the future, THANK GOODNESS!!!!

I was shocked at the number of people who had similar experiences as I did. I recently purchased a home and went to Target to open a credit card account in May. The very first month I didn't know how to pay the $150 bill online so I walked in the store and paid it because I always pay the whole amount as early as I can. Apparently I paid one day late. I didn't even think about it until the $35 fee was on the next statement. I called into customer service and they were so nasty to me. I knew something was rotten right off so I told them to close the account and I would dispute their practices. Silly me. I'm busy fixing up my house and forgot all about it thinking the account is closed. They continued charging fees to my account and damaging my credit. By the time I realized what was going on the bill was $129 and my excellent credit score was lowered. I'm still in the process of fighting this. They're the most disgusting company I've come a cross for a long time.

I purchased some merchandise on July 5, 2013 from Target in North Charleston, SC. I went thru the checkout and the cashier asked me if I wanted to sign up for the new debit or credit card for Target. He told me information about the product and told me it would be linked to my checking account. I asked was there any fees if I don't use the card. He said no and whenever I make a purchase it would take off 5%. Also it would be like using my debit card. So I said, "Ok sign me up and can I get more information on it?" He went to every register and there wasn't a brochure to give me, told me to call the 800 and they would explain to me further and apologized about it.

The other cashier even said, "How can you sign someone up and have no brochure?" Of course when you call the 800 number nobody answers. So that day I made my first purchase and only purchase with this card and I returned the merchandise the same day because my mother did not need it again. They refunded my money and took the money back a few days later. So I did not pay attention. My bank notified me about the transaction and told me to notify Target and ask them what is going on. They gave me some ** explanation about they refunded the money and I owed the 21.00 and some change for overdraft fees on my card. I went off on the operator.

So my bank told me they tried other times to get money that don't belong to them and it cost me 115 dollars in overdraft fees because of them. And they made my light bill check bounce. They owe me this card is bogus and a fraud. I will put them on the news if I don't get my money that is owed to me. They give you the run around and how can they draft your account when they feel like it. This is unjustified on this store. I know I am not the only one getting scammed by Target. Got nerve to write me telling me I owe them money. Ok.

I called my sales, he promised me $400 refund and lower my rate. I never received my refund and second month the bill was $930. I was upset and when I called my sales again (he gave me his cell number to earn my trust), he told me he quit. He also told me Red Payments was a bad merchant services company, I should just cancel my services. Then, I called different people work at Red Payments, include Ross, Katherine. They kept lying to me. I never got a single dollar refund. I filed a complaint at BBB. A manager name Aleksandra responded to me. Nothing improved, never get back my money. I had a horrible experience with the Target credit card. First, the card was pitched to me as a "rewards" card. Turns out it was a credit card. Okay. I should have cancelled it then and there. But, I went ahead and used it a few times. At one point, when I had about $70 on the card, I decided to pay it all off. Because I thought I had paid the entire balance, I ignored my statements for a few months. Apparently, I was charged "interest" after I had paid off the entire amount. Because I owed interest, and didn't pay it, I was charged a $35 late fee per month. And because of this, my CREDIT SCORE went down!

SO....once again I paid off THE ENTIRE AMOUNT. This time, I called the customer service number and did it over the phone, making sure my balance was $0. Then I cancelled my card. Lo and behold, the next month I got a statement in the mail saying I still owed $1.26 in interest!! I almost didn't open the statement again - because THE CARD WAS CLOSED!!! If I hadn't opened the card, I would have incurred more late fees, and would have ruined my credit even further. I called the customer service number and had to talk to two people before they agreed to delete the interest charge off my account.

WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME I OWED INTEREST WHEN I PAID OFF AND CLOSED THE CARD? I feel they do this on purpose in order to trick people into paying late fees. This card is a scam and it has severely damaged my feelings about Target stores - which I used to shop at on a weekly basis.

All attempts were within minutes, even seconds of each other, all at the same store in Brea, California. They were successful at getting $4,000. I was highly insulted as my husband has been a US Postal letter carrier for 23 years. Upon calling back to speak to a supervisor, I was told it "couldn't possibly be Target Card Services’ fault" even though the first time my check miraculously appeared at Target Card Services 3 days after I had to call and supply them with my banking information.

Twice I had the late fees waived, but they wouldn't waive the interest (I always pay my monthly balance in full). I then asked if I could please be compensated with a $10 credit or gift card to make up for the interest charge and was told that with the 5% discount, I was "already $11 ahead, so you should be happy." I asked them if they were willing to lose a customer over $10 and they told me that was "my choice." I recently called in to pay the Target Red card off. I called into the automated phone system on the 1st. I had a choice to pay the minimum balance due or the total balance. I picked to just pay the total balance since it was about a $30 difference. After paying this off, I received a statement yesterday that said I owe $39 and some change for a late fee. They said that the system cycles on the 28th. So even giving the system a few days and paying it, that should be my total balance. Looking at my statement it says this fee was added on the 28th. If I'm making a payment on the 1st, it should reflect that. Personally, it's not my fault. Maybe the automated system should say "This might be your full balance due, but we'll see."

I'm very angry about this. I called in and talked to someone. They said, "That's your late fee." I said, "That's fine. But if I'm checking my balance days after and it says to pay your total, this is how much it needs to be, then it should be that." After all of this, I believe I can't recommend this card to anyone. I will be cancelling my card. After talking to a few friends that have this card, they are cancelling too.

Target Redcard - I had this card since February 2013, not long at all. When setting up bill pay on Target website, I inadvertently transposed a # of my checking account therefore the payment was returned. Every payment made (on time - may I add) they have put a hold on because of that one returned payment - which they know was an incorrect acct # because I called up immediately once I knew payment did not go through ... and made arrangements over the phone. I diligently check my account online and every single time I've made a payment, they post that I've made the payment, but my money is "held" and does not go back as available credit. This is even checking my own bank account to see if the money was withdrawn, which it has always been taken from my bank account.

First of all, the customer representatives barely speak English, which irritates the living you know what out of me. They ask to have a 3-way call with my bank to verify funds were sent which is absurd! After the 3rd time this past weekend, I asked to speak to a manager above customer service, and that idiot did nothing for me either... even admitting they know I pay on time and did not have insufficient funds the first payment. Yet they still hold my account. I canceled immediately. I told them I don't want their stupid card any longer. This is poor business. He then had the nerve to tell me to enjoy continuing shopping at Target. I laughed and said, "I don't think so." The prices there are not great at all to begin with. It's just a store that's a convenience to have everything in one place - nothing more. Target will no longer have my business. When speaking with the representative last night, he offered to do a concall with my bank to verify funds have been sent. Shouldn't they need to verify with their bank that they have been received? Why is it that the posting take several days, yet if I were to use my BofA debit card to purchase something out of the store with the approval sent to them electronically, I'm able to take my goods and leave the store? Are they just hedging a bet at that point, trusting me that their bank will later receive the funds?

When the in-store application went through, I only got a $200 credit limit, not enough to cover the purchase of the TV. I only got $10 off the purchase and owed the balance of the sale and ended up paying for it on another card. I guess I should have refused the Target card offer right then and there, but it looked like the sale was already processed, and I had already spent a lot of time researching televisions. Anyway, I was not happy with that, I have excellent credit, and $200 limit seemed a joke. I think they gave me a low limit because they did not want to give me the full discount. Then 2 months later, I still do not have a credit card from them.

I paid it in full just to get it paid and off my mind. On a second call, trying to see if a different agent might have different answers, I got an agent who said they could perhaps - emphasis on that word - lower my payment by $10 a month which would result in my paying off the card in four years, but that would be the extent of the help. I told them, cordially, that this was in fact poor business, because they would have a great deal more trouble collecting the money from my estate since I would not be alive in four years.

The interest rate is 23.24. Both said there were periodic reviews for customers with good records. When I asked how often these reviews occur, they evaded. When I asked them to review my record, they reported the computer data showing I had never been late with a payment since I obtained the card in 2006. Wouldn't that define me as a good customer? I asked. Evasion. The telephone agents are not responsible for the shocking greed of this corporation. They say what the corporation rules require them to say. My husband and I have (had) excellent credit. Our score was above 800. We have never been late on any payment. We value our credit. I say all of this to just give you some background on our credit history.

About 2 years ago, I applied and received the Target Credit Card. My balances were always paid before due date. Well, back in early 2012, I applied for the Target Debit Card. This was much easier, because it simply came out of my checking. Well, in April, my "credit card" was used accidentally instead of the "debit" card. (They look identical.) I did not realize this until June, and Target stated that they sent me an e-statement in April and May. I did not receive these statements. I did however receive an e-statement on June 17, 2012. That was when I learned that I had a $19.00 balance on my credit card. I immediately contacted Target and was also told that they have reported my delinquency to the credit bureaus. I was horrified. They told me that there was nothing I could do to change that.

I told them that I did not receive the e-statements in April or May, and they simply do not care. They all gave me the same "robotic" explanation. My credit score has dropped 100 points because of this, and it will be on my credit report for up to 7 years. (It's all from a $19.00 balance.) I think they should have sent me a letter at the very least (maybe even a phone call) when my account was over 30 days late, especially if they were to have seen that my credit history with them was excellent. I want this removed from my credit report. I want them to acknowledge that they should not have reported this without contacting me either by letter or phone.

She then told me she would call the customer service office, and handed me the phone. As I was explaining what was going on to the person on the other end, she told me my account was overdue.

I told her I had just received a statement two days prior that stated I had not made a June payment, which was a surprise to me. I always pay the whole amount every month, never just make payments. In my opinion, I did not receive a statement in June, thus I did not make a payment. So when I went into Target, before I even shopped, I made a payment at the Service desk of $150 knowing it was more than my balance. The rude gal on the phone told me as long as my account was past due, I could not charge, and even if I did just make a payment, that payment would not be reflected for a few days "and I cannot make it go through any faster". I was furious and told her to take my ** account and close it and I will not step foot in that store again. I have never been late in my payments, always pay the full amount (which is probably what they don't want), and will not do business with them again.

Target has been in the news a lot lately. Two years ago, they decided the Salvation Army could not ring their bells outside their stores due to their "no solicitation" policy. I did not like that, but decided it was a business decision. I just read that they are not selling a particular music CD right after that artist "came out". What? I am done with them. Their prices are not that great any more, their staff is crap. I don't like Walmart because of their greed. I think I will just stop shopping! I believe in shopping at locally-owned stores as much as possible. That is what I will continue to do and just not buy any new **. I was told to put $299 on my REDcard and the rest on my credit card, which I did. So to save 5% I had to use my Delta American express at a high rate of interest in order to get out of that store with what I had purchased.

Nice time to tell a person, it is only up to $300. At the register I also wrote a check and it was denied. Why, they said because I don't have a history of spending much money at Target! Absolutely ridiculous. If I took the time to print all my debits from my checking account of the money I have spent in the last four months at this Target, you would say, there are few people who spend what I spend. I am sickened by this. Come to Target! Oh, Get a REDcard, save 5 %, come be humiliated in front of your neighbors. Never had a problem when I used my debit card. All this for 5 % savings? Not worth it. Nothing is worth public humiliation. Nothing.

I have auto payments set up on my account for my Target REDcard. I have never been late or missed a payment. I work for a dental office and our office was bought out by a new owner, so my auto pay was interrupted due to this. I did not find out that my check was not going to be in my account and our pay date was set up much later than expected, until after my auto payment for Target was taken out. I had a representative from Target call me and asking for the payment. I informed her of the change and asked for a one-time courtesy for the fees. The representative stated that I have been a loyal customer for almost a year so that would not be a problem. She stated it would reflect on my next statement.

Well, lo and behold I logged onto my online account and the amount was higher than I expected. So, I researched the account and noticed that they did not do what they promised. I picked up the phone and called Target customer service. The representative that I spoke to stated there was nothing on the account stating a credit would be issued. I informed the representative that I would like to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor got on the phone and pretty much told me the same thing the representative told me. I let him know that I was lied to and I felt that was not very professional and I would take my business elsewhere. He said he was sorry that I felt that way and he stated if there was a bank error, I would be able to get a refund with proof from the bank.

I let the representative know that I would not be using my card anymore and I paid off the remaining balance, including the fees. Target makes millions of dollars and they couldn't spare $30.00 for fees? They aren't a very loyal company to their customers and I have come to learn that people gossip to their friends and family about bad experiences more than they do about the good.

I've had the Target VISA RedCard for a few years now. I shop at Target regularly, especially now that they've changed their rewards to 5% automatic discount. The problem is their payments don't clear very quickly. I made a payment of nearly $2,000 on Jan. 19, 2012 online through the Target RedCard website, and even as of Feb. 3rd (more than 2 weeks later), it still hasn't cleared! I don't know why. The money is there in my bank checking account. And in fact, when I check my bank account activity online, it already shows that Target took the money back on or around the 19th of January. So what the ** are they doing with it that they've yet to make that $2,000 available as part of my credit line again. So if I wanted to make new purchases now, I can only do so in a small amount (using my RedCard that is)! Seriously, when will my payment truly clear?

I called up a customer service rep. to yell at them about this and they literally hung up on me! I called back again and it must've gone to that same agent or something because they disconnected the call as soon as they were supposed to come on. Finally, I called a little later on and found a different agent and she told me that this sort of delay happens when a large payment is made, why?! This lengthy delay doesn't happen when I pay (even if it's thousands of dollars) to any of my other credit cards accounts?! They usually clear it within a couple of business days and the amount paid off is quickly available as part of my credit line again but not with the Target VISA RedCard, apparently. Because of this stupid policy that Target has, I have it in my mind to teach this inconvenience causing ** a good lesson!

In calling a customer service rep, he told me that it was automatically closed due to no activity within the past 12 months. I had a hard time understanding so I asked where he was located, he said New Delhi. I then asked to be transferred to someone in the USA and he became angry but finally made a transfer after 20 minutes. I was then put on hold for another 15 minutes and the the phone disconnected.

All I wanted was a notice that my account was being closed or a simple email telling me that if I don't use the card, the account will be closed. I felt that I should have been told and this should have not reflected in my credit as I was a cardholder for 10 years.

I contacted them and was told that the available balance was not for me to use as I should always leave available credit for my interest. I told them that they should have denied me using the card at their register if it wasn't going to leave sufficient credit to cover my interest. She said it was all my responsibility to allow enough available credit so they could charge me.

I own my own business in the financial industry and my being able to maintain my business depends on my credit rating being clean. I am a loyal Target customer. For years I have had a Target credit card which I pay regularly online. I monitor all my accounts online and have never had a problem. Recently, I made an electronic payment thru their website (like always) and the payment was credited to my account (like always). But then they didn't make the credit available on my account. I waited a few days, but still no available credit. I made another payment and that credit was made available right away. I called customer service and they said the payment that had not been released had been put on hold for 15 days! The funds left my bank account, a 20-year old established bank account, but funds on hold nonetheless and there's nothing I could do about it. I should consider myself lucky that this has never happened before and the only way to avoid this in the future was to make an in-store cash payment. What?

I am a weekly Target shopper. I gave my daughter a card to use while she's away at college. We put all our prescriptions there and charge to the card. I make and have made payments to that card 2 and 3 times a month to take advantage of the discounts offered and keep credit available. The customer service rep thanked me for being a good customer but the 15-day hold stays and no one exists who can make the funds available before then. Used to be, for every $1000 you charged on the card, they would send you a 10% off certificate. Then, they stopped doing that and just made it 5% off in-store when you use the card. Since they've been pushing people to use the card to get the 5% off, I guess it was too successful. So now they are just not making the credit available to the good cardholders and loyal customers so they don't have to give the 5%. Is that how that's working? Too bad I hate Wal-Mart with such a passion. Smart & Final, here I come!

I placed a call on 5/28/2011 to Target because I have made a $110 payment (which had posted to my bank account and cleared) and noted my balance on my Target account was -$8. During the month of May I have made several payments to Target, each covering my previous visit charge. This was done because last year Target cut my credit in half because I had only paid the minimum amount during the 3 months of summer that I am off from driving a school bus. I did not want this to happen again so I just paid every time I used the card so I could also get the 5% off they are offering.

I was told that yes they have received my payment but were putting a hold on it because I might be money laundering. I have made 5 payments to them this month of May and that seems to be odd to their system. I made these payments from my debit card. I was told that I had a hold placed on my payment until June 6th. I was also told that even if I spoke to a manager there was no way that they could release the hold on my account. So here I sit with a negative 8 dollars on my Target account and I cannot use the card until June 6th because I made too many payments.

We were having a baby and was at Target shopping for all our baby needs when we were offered a 10% if I got a Target credit card. So I bought everything we needed and spend many thousands of dollars. After making every payment and never being late, I noticed my payments suddenly went way up, checking it closer, I saw my interest rate which was 9% had shift up to 21%. I called the number on the back of my Target card and asked what happened and was told, "Target isn't making as much money so they raised everybody’s interest up". I checked with friends and theirs was still low, so I called back and said nobody else went up and I never have been late or missed any payments. I was pretty much told too bad and nothing could be done.

About six months later I lost my job and missed 1 (one) payment. Target started calling up to 5 (five) times each day. I told them I couldn't make the missed payment because I wasn't employed but was making all payment from then on. They continued to call up to 5 (five) times a day. I told them I couldn't get caught up since the interest was so high. It was different month to month ranging from 21% to 13%. I then made a deal to set my interest rate at 6%. The next day they called and said that program expired and made another deal at 0%. Then the next day they called and said I didn't qualify for that one, the next 2 days, the same thing with different rates.

I finally told them enough is enough so we made another agreement at 6% for 4 years and it would be paid off. I was also told do not make a payment until they sent a new bill and to ignore any that came in saying I was behind a payment. I waited 1 (one) month and did not get a new bill. I called and was told it takes time to process and to continue to ignore any payment that came in. I waited another month and called again and was told the same thing, to ignore the bill and not to make a payment. Target then called and said that since I did not make a payment for two months, I no longer could use the agreed payment plan and that I now owed them over $1200 and that I was going to collections. I told the lady that I had been calling every month and was told not to make any payment.

At this time the lady from Target started yelling at me and said it wasn't her problem I wasn't making my payments and that I had to give her my bank account number so she could take $1200 from my acct. I told her I didn't have that kind of money and I just wanted to make the agreed on payment which was $190 a month. She began to scream and yell to the point I had to hang up on her. Then the daily phone calls started again which I made another deal at which if I made the next 3 payments all late fees would be dropped and I could go back to making regular payment.

Well, after one month payment, they called and asked for the $1200. I told them I made another agreement and was told there was no agreement made and that I needed to file bankruptcy. All my other credit companies worked with me and I have no other problems except with Target. Every person I have spoken to has given me a different answer, and I will no longer ever set foot in another Target and tell everybody I know how bad Target has treated me and to never do business there again.

But Target surprised us by still requiring the full payment at the due date even though more than half had been paid through multiple smaller payments. By the time we caught the problem the bill became 30 days late. I paid off the late payment in full but it trashed my credit rating which was 660 before the late payment.

I was in the process of applying for a Home Equity Loan that I was planning to payoff all my credit cards, so I could cancel them at the same time the bill went late. My credit dropped during the application process and I was denied the loan. Based on my credit history, I only had 3 blemishes in the last 3-4 years and they all involved accounts that I had co-signed for my children. My personal history is clean.
