One of the WORST customer service EVER!!! No one can talk proper English and you get the same run around. No one knows what they are doing and you get different explanations on every call. I made a payment Dec12. It has been 8 days and they still won't release my available credit. I called the customer service number on the 18th, they called MY bank to verify the payment was cleared, which it was and said they would release it. It is now the 20th and they still haven't released my available credit. Called back today, spoke to a supposedly supervisor and she said it was still in the verification process and will take up to TWO weeks, even when they called my bank and verified it was cleared.
I started asking more questions on where they were based out of and she was hesitant at first but then said Guatemala. So we have a Minnesota corporation and they are hiring people overseas to take our bank account information and dealing with their customer service? No wonder these "customer service" people don't understand English or can properly give you the correct information. This is complete BULL on Target's side. You should not have to hold your money for over TWO weeks and we should be able to contact someone in the US! Do better Target!!!

My wife opened a new Target MasterCard and purchased $16.37 back in July, 2025. I paid the bill to an old closed Target credit card.on August 18. She got a late bill with interest for late fee $1. I called and got a customer service person I couldn't understand. She started a dispute and forms sent to us. Finally in Sept. 2025 the $16.37 was sent back to her checking account. I call customer service again they said not to pay the $16.37 to another review is complete.i have had to call at least 6 times and 3 hours total with them. I paid the $16.37 on correct account on 12/8/2025 along with sending a Payment Dispute form filled out for the 3rd time.
Today I talked to a supervisor in the dispute department and we did a conference call to my bank. They told the supervisor at Target credit card that the $16.37 was sent to the wrong Target closed account and was returned to the checking account. If this sounds confusing I understand because I'm confused. They are starting a new dispute for $3 in late fees. This Target MasterCard company can't make a $3 decision. I hope these issues will be resolved soon so I don't need to call again. We still won't buy from Target anymore. I don't think they care if we do.

I use the card only for Target purchases. 3 months ago a non Target purchase of $20 appeared on my account. I reported and called customer service at least 3 times. He said it’s under investigation and will take 3 months. Today I received a statement still showing fraudulent charge of $20.

Target credit card customer service reps are the most incompetent, rudest people I have ever dealt with! I have been trying for months to advise them that when I log into my target account to make a purchase and the system asked for my phone number as 2nd level verification, it comes up with an email address that does not belong to me and I want to know they got that email address and to remove it from my account. They advised me I need to change my phone number. Then they still have an old card online that I replaced due to fraud and told me that I need to remove it, not them.
I was unable to make a purchase online at Target because the new card wouldn’t take. It was not declined, just a message stating that there was an issue with the card and to call the credit card company. They tell me they can’t help me with a target.com online issue because the number I dialed (on the back of my card) is only for payments and managing the account. Then they sit there and argue with you. I wish I could give them a 0 rating! I’m never shopping there again.

Even after calling before traveling and notifying Target Red Card/Mastercard that we would be traveling outside of our resident state, attempts to use the card outside the state were declined. When customer service was called AGAIN after attempted charges were declined, "Mart" - the person who spoke in heavily accented English (which was difficult to understand) -- seemed to take great delight in not being able to help me whatsoever. He told me I could file a complaint but could not transfer me to a supervisor or manager and instead said I would have to call the customer service number again as he could not file a complaint against himself. He could not give me a telephone number for a manager or supervisor, either.
When I asked him to remove the 4 "pending" transactions of $833.50 for resort fees that would not go through, he said he could not do that but I could dispute those charges if they were paid by calling customer service. I asked if I could go ahead and dispute them now - rather than call back another day and waste another 30 minutes on the phone - and he said no, I could not "dispute" those charges unless they went through. In all, Mart was horrible and the fact that Target's unprofessional handling of customer accounts has cast a real hardship on my son's honeymoon experience has made me rethink whether I will ever do business with them again let alone have a credit card through them. We pay our account off each month so this has been an eye opening experience. Do better, Target.

Target Red Card login is one of the stupidest interfaces or app I have seen. There are no direct way. First login in to target and then to your card (each of them have their own passwords) and then have to pay. In addition, there are no mobile apps available. Frustrating experience paying bills

They will never notify the billing cycle. Every time, we need to manually login to RedCard and see the payment due date. Accidentally, I didn't checked my 11$ amount, they charged me 25$ every month without even notifying me, after 2 months when I have checked and realized, they charged me 50$ missing payments and my credit score dropped 70 points from 810 to 740.

I have been a RedCard holder for years and never carry a balance. I hadn't used my Target card for months, but when I went through a drive-through for coffee, I had to use it because I had misplaced my other credit card. The total was $12.00. I forgot all about it and 2 months later received an alert from a credit bureau that I had a "Serious Delinquency". I understand that this was my error, but truly it was an oversight on my part. When I contacted Target Corporate, they would not take any action for me. It was a HUGE hit to my credit profile. I explained my situation, that I have not had a late payment ever and have a great credit rating, but they were not willing to work with me. Needless to say, I will never shop at Target again.

Quite awful. Desires no starts. Unable to resolve issue of sudden inability to verify Redcard both online and on app. They seem to think the only solution is to send me a new card. That's not acceptable. Also, what moron thought it was a good idea to have a 4 measures of bouncy chimey kids TV type "music" repeat endlessly for people on hold wasn't thinking about how incredibly irritating that is to listen to and that this only serves to aggravate and annoy callers who are generally going to be quite frustrated with Target anyway. If I weren't already about to leave the country and planning to cancel my account, I would definitely decide to stop doing business with Target over their Redcard incompetence.

I called target card Customer service about fraud charges on my account since May. It required me to send back the questionnaire letters so I did it. Now, it said that it doesn't receive my letters. It will not start to investigate on fraud if it doesn't receive the letter. It has been almost 3 months already and I keep calling the customers service multi times. It continues to send me the bill with late fees and interest charges. I don't know what to do with it, if I pay for the fraud charges that means I purchased it? Now, the amount of bill higher than the beginning of the fraud. Moreover most of the time the Fraud DEPARTMENT is handled by overseas contractors not by US, it doesn't work.

I have other credit cards and have never had such a long wait for fraud charges. I have switched shopping to Meier, and plan to never shop at or use Target MasterCard again.

I'll admit my errors first of failing to pay due to emergency hardships. Due to this, I knew I'd have to close my Target credit account, so I eventually did. I paid off all my debt in full, closed the account, and I thought that was that. A month later, I get my credit report and it says I still have a little over $1,000 that's past due for my Target credit card. Although it was only a month after, I just now saw this today, which is three months AFTER the "past due" statement. I got no emails, texts, calls, or written letters from target or credit reports, just nothing. No notification that I was past due, no notification that I owed anything, not even a method of how I should pay it since they said it went to collection, but I never even received any notice from a collection agency regarding this payment.
Since I was unaware until three months after and I thought I had paid everything off in full (they even confirmed it with me at the time), I thought I was all good and I closed the account and got rid of my card, so I haven't spent anything on their credit card since I last paid it off in full. Now, since my account is closed, I no longer have the card, and Target changed its system from RedCard to Target Circle, I have no way to log into my old account and I have no idea who to call or who/how to contact anyone. I'm furious because of they said I paid in full and could close the account, then that should've been the end of it! I wouldn't have even known if I hadn't checked my credit score as I was wondering why it hadn't gone up by much when I've paid all my credit debt. Now I know why. If this is how Target's credit and debit cards operate then I will NEVER recommend anyone to get their cards. Complete scam!

Target Red card is updated and known as Target Circle Credit card. The issue I have is when you are first approved for the card, they allow you to purchase items in-store or online, yet what they don't tell you is that they charge an irrational hold charge to make sure funds are on the credit card, even though they know it is. This isn't transparent, and when I called Target credit card services and Target Corporate, they refused to provide proof or what the preauthorization amount was. I rate Target negative 100 stars for not having transparency.

I've had this Target Red Card for years now. Great card for the benefits. But!!! The payment system is one of the worst. It is by far the most difficult to use. I am trying to login now and cannot. Also, My FICO score was over 800-850 for the past 10 years. Due to their awful system I was late on a payment. I had set up auto payments and somehow they updated service I needed to opt back in. Well... My credit score has dropped 100 points, they were no help. Tough one. Nothing I can do but write this. Clean up your act. We love Target but paying the bill has been truly difficult. I have 4 other cards and I don't have any issues with their interface. Cheers!

I’ve had the Target RedCard for years, and lately, the experience has become incredibly frustrating. Nearly every transaction is denied, even for regular purchases I’ve made in the past. They send a text asking you to confirm it’s you, and even after replying “YES,” you still have to call them. When you do call, they ask for extremely personal information — including your checking account details. I understand security protocols, but this goes way beyond that. After confirming my identity through email, address, and other personal info, they continued pressing, and a supervisor even started questioning whether my purchases were for business.
It felt less like fraud prevention and more like an interrogation. Honestly, I started to feel like the real privacy threat was coming from the staff themselves. Very invasive, unprofessional, and disappointing — especially after being a long-time cardholder. Target needs to seriously reevaluate how they handle customer security and support.

There was a $50 rewards on your first $50 purchase within 60 days of opening the account. It's been over 90 days and I did not receive any reward or coupon. When I called up the customer care they said because it was beyond 60 days, they cannot do anything. It was my fault that I did not follow up with 60 days. Then had to wait 15min to cancel the card and the customer care agent was equally rude.

FUMING. Traveling for work and went to use my card & it was declined twice. Look up my account and get a notice of trying to collect delinquent payment? Look back & I had made my on time payment 8 days prior. I go ahead and make an additional payment & call customer service number. They try and tell me that back in February my payment was received late (2 Days) so this was an attempt to collect that??? Mind you it is May now, I COMPLETELY paid my card off February 19th. Used the card for another larger purchase in April & COMPLETELY paid it off then as well. There is no reason my card should have been locked & an additional payment needed to have been made for this month to "unlock it".
I have never experienced an issue like this with any of our other CC's. Not to mention customer service is a joke. Maria was just repetitively reading through her script saying you made the extra payment so you just have to wait for it to unlock. I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO MAKE AN EXTRA PAYMENT. I'm nowhere near my limit. I made my payment on time already this month. The 1 late fee I've had in the past 2 years was taken care of immediately 2 days after the due date AND the card was completely paid off TWICE since then? Looks like I'll be closing this one down & utilizing my others. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE & awful system.

I have been Target Red Card holder for over 20 years. First they stopped taking payments of my bill in the store. Now they don't seem to receive my payments by check in the mail even though I mail them 1--15 days ahead of the due date. Target needs to be investigated! What they are doing to customers to try to collect more money for late payments that aren't late at all is just appalling!! Every other reputable company seems to receive and process payments when they are mailed more than 10 days prior to the due date! Why can't you Target?

I just canceled this card after a little over one year. I rely on email payment reminders, and the one that Target provides via the website doesn't work half the time - it keeps resetting back to 15 days (before a payment is due) after I've set it to SIX days twice now. Gee - I wonder why this hasn't been fixed??? They hit me with a > $30 < late fee the one and only time I was late with a payment. So... nope. Canceled. Card service folks didn't care one whit when I called in, of course. Can't recommend this card, although I guess I'd been fairly happy with it up until now. It's also soured me a bit on Target, will be reducing my shopping there, I think. Enjoy that $30 that lost you hundreds, Target & Red Card.

This card is not worth it. Please, seriously consider a different option. Not only is the APR outrageous, but the customer support is less than 1 star. Let me give an example. The website to pay the Target Store credit card went down for maintenance. During the time the website went down, no payments could be made. They did say that all late fees due to the website being down would be waived. The time period that the website was down was the time period that I pay my bill every month. I have had this card for a while and never missed a payment or had a late payment. When the website was back up and running, I made a payment and it went through just fine. That was less then two weeks after my initial try.
When I went back to the website the next month to pay my bill, I noticed there was a late fee. I called and the customer service I got was dreadful. They blamed me for not paying the bill, even though the website was down. When I mentioned that, they told me it was my fault for basically "Not figuring it out" and told me the late fee would stay. In the middle of the conversation with the Target customer rep, they just hung up on me. That was absolutely wild. I didn't swear or yell. I just wanted to get to the bottom of it.
AT the end of the day, it is just a late fee of $30, which is super annoying, but it won't break the bank for most people. But this is just poor practice on Target's part. It is stealing money from families because Target decided to do work on a website and make it unavailable for payments. Target is not out to take care of its customers, but to squeeze them for every penny they can.

So, here's my story. In December 2024, I made a small purchase of $42.17 with my Target Red Card Mastercard. Because I rarely use this card and I didn't realize all of my paperless statements were filtered to my junk email, I failed to pay off the balance when it was due. On March 13th 2025, I received a phone call from Target Red Card informing me that my payment was over 30 days past due. I paid the full amount they asked for while on this phone call which was $115.90 which included the original amount of $42.17 plus $41.00, I assume late fee and $1.66 in interest. I apologized for having missed the payment and thanked the representative for making the phone call. I thought this was the end of it and it was no big deal as I had never been late with any prior payments to them or any other credit card for that matter which could be represented with my credit scores of TransUnion of 810 and Equifax of 781 prior to this.
On or about March 20th 2025 I received and email from TransUnion that there had been a change to my credit score so I checked it out and to my great surprise my TransUnion credit score had dropped 86 points (now 724 from 810) and my Equifax credit score had dropped a whopping 114 points (now 667 from 781). After looking through the information, I discovered that this was due to Target Red Card Mastercard not only reporting the delinquent payment to the credit bureau but they had also dropped my credit limit from $2,000 to just $200 with no notification from them that they were taking this action. Both of these severely impacted my credit scores. I immediately contacted Target Red Card and they said there was little they could do to reverse the reported delinquency to the credit bureaus and that they would have to submit a request to upper personnel to have my credit limit increased back to the original limit of $2,000.
I continued on with my search for satisfaction by contacting both TransUnion and Equifax to see if there was any way to restore my credit score. Both have made formal requests to Target Red Card Mastercard to get an updated report of my account. So, you may be asking what has any of this Target Red Card Mastercard business got to do with Capitol One Quick Silver Mastercard. Well, while searching for information contributing to the decline in my credit score, I discovered that Capitol One Quick Silver had dropped my credit limit from $5,000 to just $2,000 as a result of this very small one-time uncharacteristic late payment to Target Red Card.
This has contributed to the fall of my credit score in part. As I mentioned at the beginning of this email, I have spent a decent amount of time on hold with Capitol One today in an effort to see if I could have my credit limit restored to no avail. I even attempted to go through the automated credit limit increase system and was denied. As I am typing this sentence for the third time today, I have been on hold for 38 minutes. That is more than two hours of my Saturday spent waiting on hold to simply try to talk to a human.
Thoughts of cancelling both my Target Red Card and Capitol One Quick Silver Card have crossed my mind but I have not up to this point because I know that this would further negatively impact my credit score. So, I guess I have no choice but as a last-ditch effort, to send complaints to the Better Business Bureau about all of my points of contact regarding a $42.17, fully satisfied, just over 30 days late, one-time missed payment.

Closed my account, after 9 years with them. During a period that they were doing, announced website/app maintenance. Over a few "returned" payments. In which my accounts had the money available. Did not notify me at all of the issues, no textlike my other cards would do. No email, no letters (probably because I am paperless on my account). There is no excuse for the lack of communication. I have excellent credit, and am an American Express card holder. I kept this account for the pure sake of my account age. In which they just ruined. I will not be opening a new account with them. When you go to apply online for the credit card, it doesn’t say that there are TWO different ones, and they will decide which one you get. On their website it details out the benefits. The reason I applied was for the credit card that allows for benefits outside of target - aka earning points for other purchases outside of Target. APPARENTLY there is a circle card and a Mastercard, but on their website it does not show up as two options. I've had a Target Card for over 15 years, but when they switched it to MasterCard, I haven't been able to manage payments online or see purchase activity. I've had to call to make each payment, which is always in full, because of this inconvenience. I rarely use the card and have been threatened to have my card closed because of inactivity, so on February 15 of this year, I made a $38.00 in-store purchase. I received a letter dated March 5 explaining that a $69.00 charge had been posted because of my late payment?
My available balance has declined in the past 5 years from $10,000 to 1,000.00 and now $200.00 because of this "late" payment. They sent only a payment coupon with a previous balance of $38.00 and the late charge added to it for a total of $107.00 due. No activity sheet. I wish I'd never used the card just to make them happy! I don't even have a Target store near me so I can't use it very often. My credit rating has now gone from 814 to 693. I paid the total balance by phone and a week later it still hadn't posted even though it's gone through my account. I'm waiting to get my credit rating back up since I never ever make late payments, then canceling this card. I wish I'd never gotten it. All it's done is cause me credit rating worries.

3/28/25-I had my Red Card since 2014 and always paid it off immediately. Today I got a bill in the mail for almost $200. When I called Target, I was connected to their debut collector. Upon talking to her, she said I had a charge for approx $30 in August of 2024 (I do not remember this charge, got no bill, and when I called to check my balance in December it was ZERO ). I told the collector I would pay the original charge but not all these added fees as there was no notification of this charge and I don't recall making it. She said the least I could pay would be approx $100. I will not be paying this bill and would be filing a Federal complaint, I believe this is a systemic tactic this company is using to gouge fees. I've been a loyal customer of Target for years but NEVER again, and I could care less if my credit rating is messed up over a couple of hundred dollars, these are totally UNETHICAL practices.
