Absolutely terrible customer service. This company is atrocious. The help line employees are beyond rude and horrible to work with. Avoid at all costs. I attempted to call the helpline for information on my card because I had misplaced it and wanted to pay my bill online. The website states there is a number to call for card information, however, the employees will do nothing to help the issue. They refuse to give card information over the phone but insist you need to give your bank information to them instead.
This is absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable. I refuse to give my personal information verbally to someone over the phone. I want to be able to see things for myself. When I asked to speak to a different representative, the person speaking with me muted his phone call and refused to speak with me again. Do not use this company. They do not care about helping you. I thought Target would treat their consumers better, but clearly I was mistaken.

l wish I'd never bothered to apply for this card. I've had one since 2013 (12 years!), And have always paid on time. I didn't set up autopay because they require you to connect your checking account to the card, and at the time I applied they'd just been hacked and their user data stolen. About a month ago I was sick and forgot to pay a $26 credit. I paid as soon as I remembered, but they dropped my credit limit from $9,000+ to $200! I can't close it or lose my "length of credit" status, but omg DO NOT go with a Target card, just get something else.

Needs to be SHUT DOWN. Don't know how in the hades they remain a thing when they've messed so many Consumer accounts, considering the pending lawsuits. Absolute trash. I had a few different Red Cards over time when the store was actually a decent place to shop in 'upgrading' their card services to 'newer' versions with added/changed perks for online shopping convenience. Well - they decided to separate and outsource this to offshore dealing alongside a broken website that no longer allowed sign-in to pay your bill. Forging a hundred excuses in time, taking zero responsibility. In fact blaming YOU the customer for "not paying on time" And twice now they've canceled my card/account in good standing, with the repeat dull excuse that I've been late. Which of course is an utter lie. Can't reach a Mgr. to straighten this out, so to hades with them. I'll drive to my nearby store and pay manually. Kissing them and their trash retail goodbye.

Using the Target Red Card is easy for purchases. The problem comes when you go to pay the bill. There is no "Pay Bill" tab anywhere on the website, the app or on the email they send with your statement. It's ridiculous. I have called numerous times to try to fix it. It is singularly the most confusing and annoying card to work with. It seems to have started with the RED CARD merged with the credit card. Ever since, it has been nearly impossible to pay the pill unless you drive to the store or call the customer service line. Even when you call customer service, it's pretty slow and annoying, you have to confirm your account number and then it reads it back VERY SLOWLY. You go to make a payment and the computer voice rambles on with every option available. I can literally pay all of my bills with other accounts faster than this one account. If I could rate it a ZERO, I would.

The Target Card customer service is ridiculous. Made a huge payment on my card and here we are 13 days later and my available balance has not been credited even though they have the funds which cleared my account 10 days ago. No help from customer service. They informed me that I have to wait 2 more days for the balance to reflect my payment. Absurd. It's 2024 Target. Upgrade your systems.

Worst credit card I have ever had. And I have MANY cards. Paid the total amt every month at least once, and they would still hit me with late fees. Refused to move the payment date to prevent this. Now I can't even log into the online account; won't recognize my logins. I closed it. Really won't miss it and having to call their customer support every other month. My time is worth more than saving a few bucks on a few purchases every month.

Target Redcard customer service experience is the worst one I have ever had. While calling the customer service, it hardly goes through. And even if it goes through the call gets disconnected in between the conversation and they never worry to call you back. The representatives are very unprofessional and they lack skills to understand your concern and provide any kind of solution.
With recent experience in October and November, I felt like being scammed by them. When I called and requested to close my account due to the poor customer service and having incorrect late charge and not getting proper response of resolution from them, the rep insisted to keep my account and to call back in November so they can take care of incorrect late charge removal. Then when I called in November, the rep responded me that he is not aware as I spoke to different person but this time I told strongly to close my account. With the experience I had, I am not going to recommend anyone to have Target Redcard account, it's not worth it.

I called the 800 number and talked to a Peter (who wouldn't give me his last name) and said he was a supervisor. I was near my limit and asked what I could do so I could place another order. He said it would take 24-48 hours to process a payment. I then asked what would happen to my automatic payment if he did process the payment and he said it would be processed again. I asked if he could stop this and he said no. None of this makes sense. Hopefully the call was recorded and he will receive some more training.

Completely frustrated with Target Fraud department. Someone opened a Target card using my personal information but incorrect driver's license number. Target still approved card even though I already have a Target redcard, gave them an authorization number and they purchase $428 of airpods. Now I am liable for their purchase, even though I submitted a police report and provided proof that I was at home when card was opened. They have denied my appeal 3 times, the first appeal was sent to a dispute department. They are difficult to talk to directly, need to talk to the middle person who has no access to the information and why it is being denied. Went directly to the credit bureau to resolve this issue. Cancel your existing Redcard (I've had one since 2003). The minute there is fraud, you are going to be in trouble and your credit score will drop 100 points. They need to be sued!!!

Due to Target credit credit card and customer support support 1. My credit score went from 855 to 700. 2. I called three times, each person was rude than the next. 3. I tried to get the credit issued correct they told me it is not their problem and I had to call the credit bureau. The credit bureau told me to call them. I have been a cardholder for target credit card for over five years. I never allowed them to raise the limit because I had heard about how they treated people in the past however, I am a person who gives folks a chance. The convenience was helpful for my family. The balance was paid off every month.
A few months prior to the credit card not being paid. I had a stroke and was in the hospital for a month. I called to check in on my balance once I got better I was wondering why the money was not being taken out directly from my account. They told me that they canceled it or someone had canceled it I said for over multiple years you’ve been taking it directly out of my account why was it canceled, they did not have an answer and told me that I needed to pay this fee. I was frustrated, but I said fine I’ll pay it after paying it in January. I didn’t find out in March that these people put a negative report in to the credit bureau a few times, hence my credit dropping so dramatically.
This is a horrible company that do not treat their customers properly and I would never recommend them to anyone. I read the reviews posted and it seems as if they have done this to several people over and over with no consequences. Quite disappointed that the credit bureau has not investigated. I will continue to push this issue.

Target store I have no problem with, or merchandise. Just moved to address & haven't been receiving my card in mail so I cancel the cards. The envelopes that the Target Red Card are sent in are very thin & I suspect card was being taken. I have informed delivery it lets me know when mail is on the way. I reported to the post office. I don't feel they're are educated on their own products. I took me a month to get to someone. I googled corporate office & I finally got a human. Early in the process I'd call customer service & they couldn't even bring up my account. I called to let them know the 3rd card sent needed to be concealed. As crazy as this sounds they told me I had to send them a copy of my Id & and Social Security Card. The corporate office told me they haven't received it. They refuse to bring up account number and info. They were treating me like a criminal. You didn't require that info when done application online.
All I wanted was to find out what my bill was. One representative couldn't bring up my account with my order number; my account didn't exist. My account should of been able to be brought up with my order, ssn number, etc. I verified all info. All I wanted was my bill amount & the debit card to be canceled. After I was approved and made 3 orders I called, verified my account, etc. They didn't require all this info like DL or SSN number before. It seems like you should of all times ask for all the physical ID stuff at the time I applied, but you didn't. You took me through pure deep hell and all I wanted was my amount due, and when it needed to be paid.
I'm paying my bill off quickly and feel it problematic to do business with you. You should of welcome me in wanting to pay bill & given account info. I verified who I was. Your actions didn't make sense. I looking at a fax receipt of my Id and ssn number sent to you THAT YOU SAID YOU DIDN'T RECEIVE. I didn't your actions toward me. It wasn't fair as a customer. It made me feel you didn't know what you was doing..

Due to their auto pay error, they closed my account. I signed up for statement balance and what did they do, pulled out my current balance after I already paid the statement balance days earlier. This caused the payment to return, so they closed my account. Every dispute response I receive does not acknowledge the fact that I signed up for auto pay for statement balance not current balance and they refuse to provide any terms to show that auto pay will occur no matter what terms you select. Disappointed to say the least. Haven’t set foot in Target since. Now I just order everything through Amazon.

I opened a Target Red Card account in 2021. After a few months, Target raised my credit limit to 1400 per month. I thought that's nice. I paid them on time every month either the entire balance or a very large payment. I discovered that they were not reporting the correct balance or not reporting at all for several months. This was making my credit score go down. I called them and they just lied. I wrote them a letter and said, "You are suspended, for 30 days I will not use your card. You have 30 days to correct my credit report." Instead of responding they mail this Mastercard with a 4000 dollar limit but with over 30 percent interest. I wrote another letter and mailed back the card that day.
Well Target went behind my back and they opened that Mastercard account anyway and they cancelled my RedCard account without telling me. Then they transferred the balance off my RedCard onto this new Mastercard that I told them No. I paid off the entire balance owed on the RedCard and they reported that I owed 86 dollars on the new Mastercard. Several people have sued them and they got away with their scam. I am exposing them all over the internet on all the consumer sites. I will start exposing them on Twitter and Facebook too. I want people to cancel their accounts and not do business with this scam Corporation. I will never shop at their store again after being a over 50 year customer.

On April 8, I made a purchase from Target for $11.31 using my Target Red Card. My account was set up for autopay. On May 1, before the payment was due on May 10th; I edited my bank account info which was confirmed as the online app noted "This message was generated to notify you that the event "Add/Update Payment Account" occurred on your account." However, on May 10, I received an email informing me that my payment of $11.31 was returned?! I checked my Target online app again on 5/13 to make sure my updated bank info was recorded correctly, and it was. So I placed a call to customer service to inquire why my payment was returned. The rep I talked to assured me it would be taken care off, but there was a $1 late fee?! Even though unreasonable, but I agreed to pay.
Since then, I made no more purchases using the Target Red Card. On June 10, I received another email informing me of a returned payment?? Since I had not made any purchase since April 8, and my May payment due was paid in full; why would I incur a returned payment? When I checked my account online, I discovered that not only the $12.31 ($11.31+$1.00) had not been withdrawn from my checking account; the amount due in May showed a balance of $23.62. And the amount due in June was $48.24!!! Mind you, I only made a purchase on April 8, in the amount of $11.31 and my bank account was updated on May 1st. I should only be responsible for the $11.31.
I called Target CC customer service over 5 different times trying to get this resolved. They insisted that "their system" shows that my autopay was set up on an account that had been closed, there was nothing they could do but for me to pay the amount showing on the statement. I finally got to talked to a supervisor by the name of "Nicholas", she was most unreasonable and would NOT listen. She insisted that I must pay $23.62; after I made that payment, she would give me a one time courtesy refund of the remaining $23.62. But I only owed $11.31!!! She hung up on me. After all this fiasco is over, I will close my Target Red Card. The 5% discount is not worth the rudeness and incompetency of their customer service.

5% is nice. Interest rate is high.. Be careful when you’re trying to make any changes using the online website, as there can be issues with information being saved. My experience when attempting to change info on the online site was evidently not saved, though showed saved at the time I was on the website. Usually I receive an email, this time there was nothing, so I logged in and saw the old info still on my profile. Extremely small balance on card at the time. Credit limit was extremely high due to time I’ve had the card. Unfortunately I was a couple of days late, and they reported the card as not being paid. Spoke to customer service, and explained the situation, not much help on their end, though looking at my history over the past 13 years and never having any problems the customer service was surprised, as the balance was extremely small.. I changed the info manually with them since there were issues with the online service website..
TD Bank holds the card.. paid off small balance on card and cancelled it. Now having to dispute issue with credit bureau.. if I would’ve kept the card, they review in 6 months and then decide whether or not to increase your credit limit. Not worth the trouble anymore.. Be extremely wary of this card. Customer service can do nothing as it’s a TDBank card. Again… any changes call customer service instead of using the website. They’ll email you the changes.

My Red Card was declined for the first time in 9 years and when I called, I was told it was because a renewal card had been sent and returned as undeliverable. Target sent it to an old address even though I updated my address on my account. They apologized and agreed to send a new card by two-day delivery- and they sent me the same card, same number which was not valid and I couldn't activate it because they cancelled that number. They apologized again and said they were sending me a new card two-day delivery and I would need to sign for it. (At this point I had been without a card for 10 days.) I stayed home the day of delivery to sign for it and it never came. When I called I was told by a Manager that although it was 'supposed' to be sent two-day, it wasn't and had actually not been shipped at all. He apologized again but this time I said an apology wasn't good enough.
So far my card had been declined at the register which was embarrassing, I was sent the wrong card twice- and then I stayed home all day for a card that wasn't even shipped. I said I wanted a gift card to compensate me for my time and he said he could not do that. He wouldn't even give me a coupon off a purchase which just adds insult to injury. He then assured me the card was being sent again two-day delivery with no signature required this time. That was Monday and today is Friday and NO CARD HAS ARRIVED! When it does come - if it does comes - I am NOT activating it. I am NEVER shopping at Target again - and that is not something I am just saying. My patronage is worth something but apparently Target doesn't think so and if it is this difficult to send me a card to spend money at their store, I will spend my money elsewhere. Target provided me with horrendous experience and even worse customer service!!

I used my card at a Racetrac with a locking card mechanism which malfunctioned and kept my card. For 10 mins we tried to get the card out, I had an employee out helping me and they ended up calling for a technician but they were backed up for four hours. We yanked and pulled and canceled the sale over and over. I left my name and number and went to find something to do for four hours. About 10 mins later I get called by an employee who says a random person entered the store, said they got my card out, called the number on the back, cancelled my card, and then 'destroyed it', and then left the store. They were unable to recover the card or pieces of it.
I immediately called Target when that call ended. I called Target because you CAN NOT cancel a card, put a hold on a card, or reissue a NEW card number online. It's infuriating. I have a CREDIT CARD, a MASTERCARD, through Target with thousands in credit, and it's not treated like a credit card. It's not secure, it doesn't have accessibility online or proper security controls online. You have to call to do anything meaningful. An employee listened to my story and then told me that since I was not the account holder that I could not put a hold on the card, cancel the card, or reissue the card.
Meanwhile on the website it repeatedly says that when you add a cardholder they are considered to have full account access and the account holder is responsible for any actions they make with their card because the authorized card holders have full access to the credit lines. So...that's not true? Because if I had full access, I'd be able to cancel and reissue a STOLEN CARD.
So yeah, my card is stolen and I have to wait for my disabled mom to get up to call Target because you can't secure your account without the account holder. This is ignoring that I have PoA anyway and can legally manage her monetary accounts anyway. All that said, that proves the person lied and stole my card because Target won't cancel/stop a card if you're not the account holder. Fantastic. It's just a bad credit card in regards to security.

Target refuses to remove the charge off from my credit, despite me paying it off. I explained the entire situation to one of their “account managers” and even though I took responsibility for it and paid it, they still slapped a “charge off” status on my credit just to make sure this would have a huge negative impact on my financial life for 7 more years from the payoff date. When attempting to explain the situation to their “account manager” all she had to say was “there’s nothing we can do, maybe try sending us letter instead.” So the few points you should take from this is
2. They offer no solutions for you in the event that this does occur.
3. They have no online or phone solutions, and will instead ask you to send them a handwritten letter like we’re living in the 1800s.
4. Even after you give up and pay them, they’ll still make sure you never get passed it, by putting a “charge off” status on the account in your credit.

They will let me sign in to the Target website and recognize my computer, but when I go to the red-card link, they insist they do not recognize my computer and require a verification through my phone. They then fail to send the verification code. This is simple coding and if they do this repeatedly, it is obviously by design. It must lead them to make a fortune on late fees... The card itself is good I guess and saves you 5% on purchases but if you ever want a credit line increase you have to fight for it even if you've been a customer of theirs for years and years and I've never paid a late payment in my life. It used to be you could get on the phone with them and they could look at your account and they would let you know right then whether or not you qualified for an increase. Now it takes 6 to 12 months for the "system" to approve you and if you try to call and get a status of it or talk to anybody about it, nobody can tell you an answer because it's not them that does it, it's the "system". Apparently Target has decided to outsource their operations overseas so the department that supposedly handles this is in India and nobody can call them to inquire, they can only send a message, but either way you don't get an answer because they never call you back to let you know what happened.
I've been trying to get an increase since September 2021, have talked to a dozen Cust Svc Reps since then, and still no word. And I can almost bet that as of September of this year (which will be the max 12 months you're supposed to have to wait) that I still won't have an answer. It's sad the way these companies treat good customers. I guess by then I'll decide if I'm going to close my account and take my business somewhere else because things like this are ridiculous for no reason at all!!!

The worse credit card I have ever had. Customer service is rude and absolutely not helpful! For the years I have had this card has been nothing but trouble and I can't wait to close it once I buy our house. Here is my reason to stay clear:
1. They had payment issues at the beginning my payments went through 1st couple months then all of a sudden I am getting calls because they didn't receive a payment. Took me a while to get my money back and straightened out. In the meantime I had to make another payment.
2. You do not want to miss a payment. Accidents happen for everyone even errors from the company happen, but you miss one payment and their "collections" team will call you. Instead of nicely informing the card member of missed payment they are rude and treat you like have went months without payment and owe an ungodly amount of money. I always pay my card at least a week before due date.
3. If you need any timely documents be prepared to wait. They can't email you but can fax and they have issues with faxing their paperwork. You might just want to wait for the mail, 5-7 business days, for what you urgently need.
4. Don't ever use any other card information other than your own to make a payment. I helped a family member make a payment on their card. It was a one time payment and we made sure that was stressed. Instead they kept my bank account info and continued to charge me for their account as well as linked my phone number to their account. That took 2 months for things to be fixed on their end with no explanation as to why they saved my info to their account.
5. 9 times out of 10 customer service is just rude.
I personally go the card for the discount and free shipping but it's not worth it!!

I work in a bank, this is how people are scammed. I hung up and called them back, talked to a different associate and they told me the same thing. Unless Target is so cheap that they are still using computers from 1990s to process "electronic payments", I don't see how it is possible to process a payment for 2 weeks. It deducted from my bank acct same day, but somehow does not reflect on Targe Redcard for 2 weeks and the support line is useless!!! Canceling this RedCard, it is not worth the 5% to expose your bank information to Target support teams in India

Upon checking my bank, which I use to pay all bills, I see that the scheduled payment was $5.92 was never sent. Target failed to send a email that the account was overdue yet searching my email account I found dozens of unread emails concerning their latest sales. Target failed to send a monthly invoice. Target failed to contact me at home via phone. Instead they added a $1.00 finance charge each month it was overdue and reported me to the credit bureau. As a result my near 850 excellent rating has dropped 99 points to just good. I have never had a late payment in the multiple decades I've owned credit cards. Once I was told, “NO you listen to me!” Another “dispute supervisor” claimed it was a bank error so “it’s your problem”. There’s no bank error. This was a scam. Contacted Target Redcard customer service and dispute department today, 3/23/21, due to a hold they placed on my account. In Feb 2021, OR experienced a statewide weather/storm event in which our governor declared a state of emergency, we were frozen over and did not have access to banks (they were closed), everything was shut down, and no power for several days. I have been a Redcard holder for several years, no prior or previous incidents or issues, all payments have been made on time, as my credit history shows. Feb 2021, my online payment was returned due to non-sufficient funds, as I was unable to deposit money into our account due to closures and shutdown due to severe ice and snow, we were unable to leave our home.
The following week, upon the banks re-opening we were able to deposit funds and our bank refunded all overdraft/NSF fees back to our acct, and told us to contact the credit card companies to have them re-submit for payment and to return or void off any NSF fees on their end. So I contacted Target at that time, and the customer service rep stated that they had to file a request with their Dispute Dept to have the $29 NSF removed from my acct. Fast forward to today, 3/23/21, upon checking my acct online (and after making two significant payments since that time) my Target credit acct is STILL frozen, because of the $29 NSF fee that the rep in Feb never put in a request to have removed! I spent 2 HOURS on the phone, transferred several times in attempt to resolve this.
They informed me that I had to file a dispute with their Dispute Dept to have the $29 removed from my acct, and that I have to give them permission to contact my bank to confirm the weather incident/shut down, and to confirm that my fees on the bank's end had been returned AND that my two payments in Feb and March had cleared my account....that I was REQUIRED to give them access to my PERSONAL BANK ACCT to verify this!!! I was highly uncomfortable, but because they said it was they ONLY way they would credit back my acct and take the hold off I reluctantly gave them my bank's phone number...the Target Dispute rep called my bank on 3-way and in order for me to verify my acct I had to give my SS# or bank acct number to bank rep...
I was HIGHLY uncomfortable doing this!!! But it had to be verified Target rep said, so I gave my SS# to verify my acct so they could talk with my bank. I am SICK inside that the Target rep demanded this, and now has complete access to my SS#!!! Upon verifying and getting confirmation from the bank, he claimed that he submitted a request to have the $29 NSF fee removed from my acct, and I asked about the current hold, and that the bank rep confirmed that both payments, including March payment on the 11th had cleared my acct...he confirmed that yes, the bank did verify that, however that is not "his dept" and that I would need to be transferred back to customer service to have the hold removed off of my acct...
I requested for him to indicate in the notes that he verified payment confirmation with my bank so that I would have to go through everything again, he claimed that he did note that information and transferred me back to customer service. Customer service transferred me to a supervisor who informed me that the Dispute Dept did NOT note that my bank confirmed the payment and that SHE would have to contact my bank if I wanted the hold take off!!!
It has been 13 days since I made my payment to Target, 12 days since it posted/cleared my checking acct, and their (Target) credit acct as well, and yet they demanded AGAIN to contact my bank, even after I complained that their rep has my personal private info already and I refused to submit to that again, and I requested the recorded call with the Dispute rep and was the recordings are "random" and most likely no record, and to submit the request in writing. I was told to complain in writing, yet if I wanted the current hold removed she needed to speak to my bank herself, even after she verified that he spoke to my bank!!!
So some random Target rep has my SS# because it is "Target Policy" that they require customers to give their personal bank acct information/SS# to access acct to verify funds/fee/payments clearing (even though they can see it has cleared on their end). I asked the supervisor what gives their company authority to require personal bank acct access in order to have a fee removed and/or a hold removed from credit acct, and her response was "It's Target Policy."
NO credit card company should EVER be able to strongarm, bully, demand, or require a customer to give out private personal identity and/or bank information in order to have a fee removed from their account, especially when the State of Emergency information with date is posted on the internet by the state's Governor's office (easily verifiable), and was incurred not due to the customer's own fault. NO hold should have been placed on my acct (punished) because it was clearly not my fault to begin with! AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T REMOVED HOLD!!!! I REFUSED to give the supervisor my personal bank information again, and told her why, so she refused to remove the hold. This has got to STOP!!!
How many customers have they done this to?? ONE IS TOO MANY!!! How many customer's identity has been compromised due to Target "policy" to require actually speaking on the phone with the customer's personal bank?! I have NOT EVER heard of this from any other company in all my years. NEVER. This MUST be investigated and something legally needs to be done/changed to shut this down! I have been violated today, and was forced to pay for a credit/identity protection company now!! I am also filing complaints with their higher management as well as the BBB and CFPB.

"Customer service" is non-existent, the only "benefit" is the 5% off at Target which actually only lowers the price closer to what Walmart sells stuff for. I wanted to change my statement closing date on all of my cards to the same day. That way I can pay them off and have a clean slate for the new month. I had ZERO problems with Chase doing that. I sent them a secure message and bam! Job done.
This card though... They said, "Oh we need to wait until your statement has closed to do that" + "here is a phone number to call... " So I waited until the statement had closed and again they come up with some ** reason not to do their job and give me a phone # to call. This time it was "oh you have auto-pay". They affect people's credit scores without any regard, and when you inquire, the responses are very rude!

I contacted their customer service department after 10 days to let them that the new card did not arrive, so they relayed to me that that card would be canceled and new card would be issued, and to expect its arrival in another 7 - 10 business days. However, they did not inform me that my existing card would also be canceled; I found out the hard way. I use my card for autopay on 6 companies; one of them emailed me and stated that they were unable to charge the card on file.
I then contacted REDcard and notified them that I did not want my existing card to be canceled. However, they informed me that the new card was to have the same number but different expiration date. However, they could ship the new card overnight for a $15 overnight fee. I requested that they waive the fee. So, the representative had me talk to his supervisor, Celena. Celena said that she could not waive the fee. I informed her that other companies have waived expediting fees, why not REDcard?
Celena said she could not approve it. I then informed her that she would be losing a customer - not only from REDcard, but from Target. She still said it could not be done. I then immediately switched the 6 autodrafts from REDcard to their competitor. I will no longer shop at Target. I will pay off my balance and no longer be a customer. Celena was 'okay' with losing me as a customer of 14 years for a meager $15. I can only assume that maintaining customers is not a concern for Celena, Target, or REDcard.

So, I used it to buy a few Minnie Mouse Christmas presents in December 2018 and paid the card off when I received my bill in Jan. 2019. I keep all my receipts and take notes. When I tried to refinance within the past few weeks, they said the Target charge that was in collections was really hurting my credit score that had brought my credit down from 720 to 648! I looked through all my files and had NOTHING charged on my Target credit card!
I called the number on the back of the card and was prompted to “Buckles and Buckles” law firm (supposedly). He said they had closed my card because I had owed $1,080., but it was it NOT in collections. WHAT?! If I owed that kind of money, why would they not send it to collections, and why would I get a law firm on the other end of the phone? He asked if I had received any collection notices, and I had not! I said that something was fishy about this charge, because I never spent over $1,000 at Target! I figured they had the wrong person.
SO...I can’t call to have it removed, can’t find out what the charges were, and have to write to the company about something that may never be resolved! I was on disability because of 11 autoimmune illnesses before I just turned 65, hardly ever go shopping, am in chronic pain, and this is increasing my stress levels and my pain! I don’t want to ask anyone to help me, and my credit is in the toilet now that I want to refinance and lease a new car! How convenient, Target! Do not get this card!

First, I couldn’t use the credit I was given because the delivery dept was not aligned with the ‘Red Card’ dept and had nothing to do with the shoppers who do the product gathering at the store for home delivery. They use three different non cohesive systems. Target does not have it together. During pandemic stay at home orders I spent hours and days on the phone like a full time job to get nowhere except hearing each dept placing blame on the other dept that it’s not their system it must be in the other and for me to keep trying because everything looks fine on their end but that they can’t manually put in the order because it’s the other dept that does part of it.
The website wouldn’t allow the order to go through and would read; "We are unable to process your order at this time." With plenty of money available and no way to use it, I spoke to supervisors and got nowhere because they know nothing. Then miraculously after I gave up and used Amazon for a time I tried Target ordering again and the system began to accept the order. I received a handful of deliveries. I’ve paid my balances to zero and then I get a notification from credit monitoring that - my account got closed! What!! So I call ‘Red Card’ Target dept and they say 3 payments in the same month and the month not over yet.. we’re rejected. Rejected?! I said, "So you just close my account and mess with my entire credit history just like that without so much as a professional courtesy call - we are not even at the end of the month!" I wouldn’t have known had the credit monitoring not alerted me.
So, now I’m furious. I call my bank because I have all my cards at a zero balance but one at this moment and the bank tells me that no payment was attempted by Target, Red Card or any other affiliation of Target nor declined on the three dates in question. I called ‘Red Card’ Target dept back and tell them what my bank informed me of. Now I’ve opened a dispute because not only was this a serious problem affecting my credit by closing an account but that the money is still owed. I would never let a balance get to that amount so I feel completely sabotaged by this whole process.
Like other reviews on here- yes they have lost a customer forever. I replaced Target, meaning my credit limit amount with another credit card company immediately and secured an even higher credit limit than the increased amount Target gave after opening with them. I do not recommend Target Red Card no matter how bad you need an option. Amazon delivers with Prime delivery and is never a hassle so I myself will not bother giving Target any future business and hope you read reviews before jumping on what seems like a great offer from a completely dis functional system involving the Target Red Card credit line.

Set up MyRedCard on the website on 4/10/2020, only to discover that my small amount of purchases were due on 4/16/2020 or I get charged 25% APR! What the heck?!! So much for the 5% savings. You have to pay that balance ASAP or they are going to sneak a way to add interest on there. NONE OF THIS WAS MADE UPFRONT WITH ME. I had to do my own investigating to figure out how they were being sneaky with their customers. Add on top of everything else, I needed to return one item because it didn't fit and I can't return it before the account statement due date because of COVID-19! What the heck?! So I have to get charged interest on an item that doesn't fit me and I have no way to return it. Neat trick there, Target.
Customer service? We're sorry, our offices are close. Neat. Needless to say, I've taken note of how they practice predatory interest policies and I paid off the balance in full so that I can retain my 5% savings, which is why I got the blasted card to begin with. If you get one of their cards, take note that they will sneak in an account balance date that you will be charged interest on FAR FASTER than the standard 30 day policy. In my case, it was 14 days after my card was activated. Had I not gone online and scoured through their clunky system, I would have been bamboozled by their atrocious interest rates and lost all of the 5% savings that I signed up for. Their hours of operation wouldn’t allow for most working consumers to spend 45 minutes hold time to wait for an answer. I’d moved and lost the card itself so I attempted to go into Target with my SSN and ID to apply a payment only to find that no one there could assist me further and only to be able to give me the number to their customer service. After about a month, I finally had a day to call them and after nearly an hour's wait time, I got through to be told I’d have to contact a technical department for assistance to reset my user ID and password. After several more hours, I could finally reset. Once logged in, my payment wouldn’t process once more and timed out repeatedly.
The sixth or seventh attempt finally brought me to a screen that read that the payment wouldn’t process for that day's date but rather the following. The following day would make my payment late and because of all the runaround I was reported 30 days late on a payment. I tried to again call a customer service agent to explain how everything took place and ask that they consider their technical issue preventing me from submitting my payment on time and I spoke with someone who addressed themself as “Axel.”
Axel spoke of fair reporting citing that the technical issue didn’t need consideration because they had the right to report that the payment was late. As I began to explain that I’d just been on hold for 45 minutes as I had been several times in the past trying to connect with someone for assistance to be able to make the payment. Axel said something to deflect answering what other option I would have had if not able to get information about my account online and with eStatments already set as my preference and then pretended that our connection went bad and they couldn’t hear me.
I’m going to call back again tomorrow as in I’m quarantine and once more will have time to sit waiting for an hour and will be requesting an actual supervisor review the recording on the call we just had at 20 minutes to 8pm on 03/23/2020. When I was keying it in, Target's system would not allow me to click on CHECKING so I clicked on SAVINGS thinking it would not make much of a difference. WRONG! The payment bounced back. The next time I entered the account number it did allow me to click on CHECKING, but I accidentally keyed the account number and it was one digit short. It was returned again. Within a few days of that attempt to pay the account they closed my account and refused to consider the situation. On top of it, they popped my interest rate up to almost 25%.
I spoke with representatives at the company on 3 different occasions asking for consideration on the fees, or the interest rate, or re-opening the account. The answer was NO! NO! NO! The implication was that I was fraudulently handling my account which is ABSOLUTELY BOGUS! I will never shop their stores! Got RedCard this September, first bill went to old address, Target notified me I was late and, horrified, I paid the balance in full and have done so ever since. Didn't matter. Target randomly declines the card. Multiple calls to nightmarish overseas customer service resulted in being told everything was "Fine" even as their own store continued to randomly either decline or accept the card.
Today, 1/20/20, it gets declined. I call. Target admits I paid the monthly balance in full on January 8. But they never credited it to my account! Why? I had charged over $1000.0 and had paid the full amount. This "Large payment" triggered a "Warning" since I had a "Record" of "Late payment problems". To compound the problem, no one would tell me when target would finally post the payment to my account to clear it. So I paid off the final balance over the phone and cancelled the card. I couldn't take it anymore. I love target but red card is very badly managed and they have driven me away as a card user.

I have had this account for over 15 years. I was always in good standing and they consistent raised my credit limit. Recently I moved into a new house and hiked my balance up. I went to pay half that balance by adding a new account which I ended up missing one number that caused the account to reject and I got hit with an insufficient fund fee. Fine. Whatever. I reloaded the account, made that big payment, and it cleared no problem, but then the next day I get an email from my credit monitoring company that my Target acct was closed. Knowing that I didn't close it, I sent an email to investigate it. According to the rep that responded, I had "too many" aka 1 insufficient funds transaction and therefore they permanently closed my account and it can't be reopened. No notice, no attempt to rectify, no nothing.
It dropped my credit score 21 points and I'm beyond upset that years and years of being a good customer, I make one mistake and just like that, they close the account with no notice. I pulled the account terms and couldn't believe that I read that target has the right to cancel an account for "any reason described or for no reason at all". No reason at all?!? Shutting accounts down for no reason at all when people literally rely on these accounts should be ILLEGAL!!! I will never shop there again. They basically told me there was nothing they could do and to "wipe off the chip". I also tried to use it a week ago and surprise, it wouldn't accept it but the charges are still showing in my account. They told me I'd have to dispute it once it posted for money that I spent on a completely different card because theirs wouldn't work. I have spent a lot of money on my REDCard so for them to treat me this way makes me very angry. I love the products Target has to offer and originally I loved having the REDcard but not anymore. I’m beyond appalled and frustrated with my Target Red Card and the betrayal of this company after my many years of purchases. Three months ago, my husband and I decided to pay off several credit cards. The Target Red card was one of them. On June 17, 2019, our account was due so I made a payment of 100.00 which was more than the minimum due. Two days later I received the funds to pay off our cards, went on my online target account, and paid the entire balance.
This was on June 19, 2019. This is all confirmed by Target. I just received a collection notice for 180.00 for finance charges on a zero balance never having received any notice from Target! I paid the 180.00 so as not to appear past due! Everyone knows how this works! I have literally just donated 180.00 to Target and I’ve been told to work with the collections agency! Why is Target not taking responsibility for this and appreciating a 20 year customer? I will no longer be shopping at any Target stores and urge Consumer Affairs to look into this fraudulent behavior.

Lately I signed in my Target Red Card account online, I discovered that they did not give me 5% discount in some online orders. Be careful when you use Target.com to shopping. They have two systems - Target website and Target Red Card. When you are shopping, you are purchasing through Target website. They charge you in another system call Target Red Card. The charge you see in your shopping cart normally doesn't match the charge in Target Red Card. I don't think anyone has the time to compare the charge side by side when you sign in to two websites side by side. It is hard to compare since the Target Red Card didn’t display the item’s name you ordered in Target website.

I looked at my Target account online the day before the billing cycle closed and entered a one-time payment to pay the balance in full so the statement would show a $0.00 balance when it cycled. I entered the correct 9-digit routing number, and then entered the correct 12-digit checking account number - entering the 12-digit number two times, as required. The payment system will NOT let you enter the same routing number in the account number field, and the two account number fields have to match exactly before it lets you continue to the payment amount field. 5 days later, I received an e-mail saying that my payment was returned marked "Account not found".
I called my bank and the payment was never presented for payment. Had it been presented, they would have done a name search and routed the payment through my account. I called Target customer service and they told me that the account number that I entered is shown as *### with the last three digits of the routing number shown as the ###. They are trying to tell me that I entered the routing number as the account number. Ironically, their system will not allow what they said I did. They have assessed a $28 returned payment charge AND added interest to my balance. This is their system error.
I wish I had known about the 300+ consumer complaints about this issue BEFORE I opened the REDcard account. I guess this is Target's way of recovering the 5% REDcard discount that they give when you use your REDcard for purchases. Beat the system - keep your discount, but pay in the store at the customer service counter. DO NOT TRUST THE TARGET PAYMENT SYSTEM ONLINE! If you pay the balance every month before the statement cycles, they can't charge interest on the accounts, and you will be able to keep your discount.

It was embarrassing to have my card declined in the store, when I should have had over $3,000 of available credit! It has been more than two weeks now. The payment cleared my bank on day 3, and Target still hasn't processed my payment. On one phone call, the representative pretended she couldn't hear me.
On another, they tried to do a conference call with my bank, and entering the call means typing in my SSN and Phone PIN. NOT GONNA HAPPEN during a conference call with a third party! When and if this issue gets resolved, I will be closing my Target RedCard account and shopping elsewhere. The items for sale seemed a bit expensive, and when I fell on hard times unlike other creditors, Target would not work with me on payment/late fees. I called last month to close out my account, pay my balance in full and be done with them once and for all only to get a bill in the mail today. I was extremely confused, so I called. I was informed that this was for a charge the month before I called and paid my balance off? Umm, ok. So I asked... "When I asked your representative what my total pay off balance was she left off a charge from the previous month?" She was aware of my wanting to be done with Target and this awful card. She never mentioned another payment, another bill or anything. She dropped the ball! I was not expecting another bill, and with good reason!
When I called to ask about the charge, and to explain the conversation I was repeatedly talked over. The people I spoke with were incredibly rude, especially Lauren in the disputes department. I plan to warn anyone I can about this card... I have had several, without any issues, several that actually care about customer experience, Target is not it. We had no problems paying our bill until they closed the store near us. Their bill due date had no grace period so it had to be paid by the exact date it was due or they would add a 25 dollar late fee onto your bill. At the time they had no pay by phone and their company had already been hacked so using the internet to pay was not only a bad way to pay your bill but you also needed to use another credit card to pay using the internet. That only left two options for us to pay our bill. The first is to go across town to another store to pay it and when my husband worked 2 jobs finding the time was almost impossible. The second way was to send it by mail and cross your fingers that it gets there before they added on their high late fees. It wasn't long before the late fees they kept tacking on our bill got us to where none of our principal amount was being paid.
We called their customer service line and were told to find a way because they only cared about getting paid. We finally had no choice but to let it go to collections just to get the late fees stopped. They took a customer that paid his bill's every month and not only ruined his credit but is now ruining his life. I posted a review on their Facebook page and within minutes I had over 75 responses and most of them insulting. Posting a review this late at night would not have that many people reading reviews and I doubt they would have been so nasty. I had to remove the review because in one hour there was over a 132 reviews.
I believe Target has employees that monitor their Facebook and once there's a negative review they have their employees pretend to be people commenting and they attack you until you remove it. Target now excepts phone payments but too late to have helped us. This is a greedy company that does not care about their customers. They had just increased his credit limit right before they closed the store he paid his bill at so they can't say he didn't pay his bills.

I then made a payment recently, had the account setup correctly (so I thought) and paid off my card again. However, no notices, no alerts, no notifications. Just started getting calls that my account was past due. Thinking it's possible spam, but just in case, went to look.
Short story, I discovered that the payment was returned (no reason specified online). After talking to customer service, was told it was due to an incorrectly setup banking account information (but no way to check as they deleted it when it's "bad"). And they would not credit the return fees as they claimed it wasn't their fault (again, no way to verify it). My credit is pretty good, and I only got this card to get a discount at the store. The employee informed me that I could do the debit card online when I returned home (of which I got denied, go figure). Yep you got it. I have never had even been late. Never had a payment due but yet because of a mistake in putting my payment info in my account was shut down in 12 days of the first use. And I am told by the service number that there is no one that can fix it. Took out a cash advance and was told as long as I pay the cash advance amount in full there will be no extra charges. When I reviewed my account a year later and did a deep dive into the interest charges I realized they were charging me an added interest charge. Fairly small enough so that it went unnoticed for that amount of time. So when I called again to clarify, they stated “make a pymt in the amount of what is owed and place a note on file as to the specifics of the charge, then that would clear out the added interest”. However when I re-evaluated after payment posted, I called and had to ask for a supervisor. She stated that was NOT the case and the whole balance had to be paid in full (which included additional purchases) and then the account would no longer accrue the additional charges.
In addition, every time you use the card and carry a balance they reduce your credit limit by the 1000s, which severely affects your credit score from month to month. Buyer beware. There are many other wonderful banking institutions out there that will support you in a positive way. STAY AWAY!!! Absolutely horrible company. If it couldn’t get any worse, my number was stolen and I don’t even use the card and even after being issued another card I called and asked why I had additional fraudulent charges after the account was closed and the new card wasn’t even activated and another supervisor kept talking over me and telling me I didn't understand. In order to log in onto their website, you have to make a phone call and wait on hold, because their security question thing doesn't ever work! After calling and waiting on hold, and only if you are the authorized user on the account, they will give you a temporary password to log in. Once you finally get logged in, you will be required to change all your security questions before you can do anything, and then create a new password. The same goes for trying to sync this account in Mint. Never had this problem with almost 100 credit cards I've had over the years. Just going to shop somewhere that understands how to make a credit card work!

Was a Target RedCard holder for 11 years - and a great one. Spent ten of thousands at Target over the years. In Aug 2018, I had my card completely paid off. Told my kids not to use their cards that connect to my account anymore. I had had issues with the card triggering fraud alerts and Target/TD Bank placing the card on hold, yet never contacting me to tell me it was on hold, then going to Target loading a cart full of groceries, trying to check out, and being declined. Then I would have to use another card and not receive my cartwheel and 5% off - thus ruining the savings I had planned. It happened more than three times, and I was disillusioned. In fact, I was going to close the card in August, but I knew doing so could lower my FICO score, so I didn't. Boy - that a mistake. Ugh - hindsight!
So, on 5 Dec 2018, my credit monitoring service told me that Target/TD Bank had reported me the credit bureaus. WHAT!? I hadn't charged on the card since 5 Aug... Now, in Sep I saw that some of my kids' online games were auto billing to it, so I paid that off 9/26/2018 and had them remove the card from those accounts. But I never received a statement that month, or one in October, or one in November. Now they reported me to the credit bureau? No email, no snail mail, no phone call to a long time cardholder in good standing??? I tried to log into my account - I couldn't - tried to call them - I couldn't.
They are open like 8-5 Central Time M-F (maybe not the exact hours, but they aren't like a real credit company that is 24/7). Finally - I figured out that there is a new website for the Redcard and after 30 minutes of frustration, I am in...and OMG - the late fees! And the charges my kids made! And WHY didn't I receive an e-statement for those months??? I have scoured my email looking. I received statements until Sep 2018 and I received email from them after 5 Dec (when I called them), but not in between. No, it isn't in SPAM. I am a network engineer - I can work Email. I did not receive it. But I did pay the card off right away once I got in online. Maybe I should not have. Maybe that pittance of an amount owed was my leverage - I'll never know. Because I pay my bills. If I know about them.
Then came dealing with the horrible, just couldn't be worse if you paid them, customer service. I spent 6 hours over two days being treated like a degenerate. Being told to report my kids for fraud (really, I don't do it justice, the tone in her voice is still in my head). Repeatedly explaining to them that I am disputing this because I was not notified in writing per the Fair Credit Act. I was banging my head against a wall in a blank white room (NOT literally). None of my time and frustration got me anywhere but angry and helpless and hopeless.
I have closed the account. My credit has its one and only ding on it - ever. If I could talk to the board of that company - I would say to them what I said to many of the customer service people I spoke to along the way...For 11 years, I generated revenue for you. I was a great consumer. I gave Target gift cards and talked about how much I loved this or that about the store.
Now, over a small amount of money and a ding to my credit - you have lost me as a customer forever. I will tell many people about this. I will teach my kids not to go to Target and never get a RedCard, they will tell their friends, and it will spread. Seems like a poor business decision. I wonder how much better off Target (now I understand why they are declining) would be if they had a small department of people that made a courtesy call to longtime, good standing cardholders with a "reminder" to pay their bill! Shoot - this could be a IVR and not a person, even. Target - YOU COULD BE BETTER!!! I sure wish you were.

Hello -- The bottom line is that they cancel your credit card (the REDcard) if you haven't used it for six months. This seems like an unwise business practice if it is intended to encourage return customers. It is also irritating as I ended up changing passwords on my still active REDcard online account only to be told my PIN was wrong. When I got to the store and asked what was wrong (since my PIN WASN'T WRONG), the telephone service said that my card had been canceled after six months of non-use. I asked them to turn it back on and they said I should reapply. Totally not worth re-applying, especially with the six-month rule. My interest in shopping at Target has now decreased.
More detail -- I live in a rural town without a Target, but there was a period when I would regularly make the 75 minute trip to the nearest Target (they had my dog's favorite food). They stopped stocking the food so I haven't been to Target for a couple of years, but Christmas is coming and, good for them, they had the hot Nintendo device that asked for at the 11th hour. I ordered it online for pickup the next day. (That pickup experience worked well, and the customer service at the store was pleasant.) I ended up purchasing the device with my Amazon credit card (at Target). No big deal really, but I did not appreciate wasting my time with the dead card, and it seems a poor business practice -- particularly when I was given no notice that my card would be canceled for non-use.

They let us back in, but we just get locked out again. The person I spoke with today did not see any history on our account, and had no record of anyone ever speaking with us before. This problem clearly needs to be escalated, but I have not yet found anyone who is able or willing to do that. If you pay online there are ridiculous hour restrictions to have your payment processed. The phone payment automation is ridiculously annoying (and has hour restrictions, as well), the customer service for the card is also not helpful at all, yet they set inflexible restrictions on online payments. I have been a red cardholder since 2011. On two occasions now I have not received my e-statement and when the next statement comes, I have a late fee assessed. I have never been late on any payment (when I receive me e-statement via email!) When I called to question why I never received my e-statement, the response I get is, "Well maybe it went into your junk folder!" My response, "Well why is the statement I just received five seconds ago not in my junk folder." After the first time, I assumed it was probably my fault, an accidental deletion on my part. After the second time, I now know this is just a scam on their part to collect late fees.
So I called this morning to close my account. Went through the grueling process of their automated system, and was TWICE disconnected after giving my story about why I wanted to close my account. Third time, I finally yelled enough to have the representative stay on the line instead of placing me on hold. Once I finally got to the right person, the process took only a few seconds. I am so glad that I closed my account and will never shop at Target again because of this horrible experience (and I'd like to say I was an avid Target shopper!)

I was charged when it supposedly transmitted. I waited for well beyond the suggested 4 hour wait time. I called customer service and was told they are having trouble with the links and the only thing they could do was issue a credit.
They issued the credit but the charge appeared on my November statement. They gave me a bunch of double talk that the billing was for purchases in September and October. A week after I went school shopping at Target I paid off my Target Red Card balance online. I never received a notification that the payment had posted. So a few days later I checked my account to find that my payment HAD posted. So I decided to check again a few days later to be sure the balance was updated. It was not. So I called the customer service number and after asking the barely English speaking employee if I could speak to a manager Jessica, the supervisor, tells me it’s a problem with the bank routing number. So we rectify the issue and I pay off my balance... again. The next day (today) I receive a notice in the mail telling me that my credit card account has been CLOSED. Yes, closed.
Well, yesterday, Jessica said nothing about my account being closed; in fact, she was instructing me on alternate ways of paying balances in the future. So I called back just now and spoke to a supervisor named Brittany who apologized but told me there was nothing they could do. SO. To sum up - I paid off my Target Red Card balance a week after my purchase, one week later, with ZERO notice AT ALL, my credit card account is closed by Target. AND THERE’S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I haven’t even had the card a month. This credit card company is a joke at best.
I keep reading that the Target Red Card credit card company seems very small and unprofessional - I should have been warned by the horribly chintzy website. Most reviews I’ve read consistently state that the Target card company does NOT notify of problems with payment or auto payments that aren’t working anymore so they can just go ahead and wreck your credit etc without even a hint that something is amiss. I have been a REDcard holder since 2005. I use the card frequently, pay in full monthly, and have it set to autopay generated from Target's end so I haven't encountered any issues with late fees. In short, I've never had a reason to contact Card Services before. I am in the process of securing a mortgage. Like I mentioned earlier, I use the card frequently. Last month I charged $19 on the account, with a minimum payment of $19. This came up on my application for the mortgage, it didn't show that the $19 was not still outstanding. The underwriters requested a zero balance letter to include with my application. I didn't think much of it. How hard could it be to get that? In fact, I had to request it for my Sam's Club Mastercard as well, which I use for groceries but pay in full each month and that was a breeze. Not only did they send it to my lender, they also dropped a copy of it in the mail for me.
I called Target with my request and the representative was rude and impatient. I knew she must have been having a bad day when she ended the call with a terse bye. Outside of that call, I can't recall the last time a CSR hung up without asking if there was anything else they could assist me with? I was uncomfortable with the exchange because I was told they could not send an electronic letter (a pdf emailed to the lender or myself) and that the full account number would need to be listed on the letter. (I was told that my options were to have it mailed to myself, which would take 10 business days, or to fax it to my lender.) I opted to have them fax the letter to my lender and prayed that the account info would remain in safe hands. I was told the lender would have it in 24-48 hours. Ten days later, the lender still had not received it.
I contacted Card Services again and was told that the letter had been faxed. Chase hadn't received it so I again put in the request. This time I gave them a different fax number to try. The processor, who was also waiting on this information, asked that they send it directly to her. Two days later I received a call from the lending officer. She and the processor had touched base and while everything else was in place, neither had received the zero balance letter from Target. (Is this really what's going to hold up my closing!!) She asked that I try Target a third time, but suggested I call the local store directly, explain the situation, and ask for a number other than Card Services. The manager was pleasant and gladly passed on the number to Guest Services. He really seemed to believe that if I was having unresolved issues, Guest Services would be able to help.
I called the number, which was a different number than the one on the back of my card, and was connected to the same Card Services department I'd been speaking to before. This latest agent listened kindly, looked into my account, and reassured me that this third try would stick. She told me she'd put a rush on it and so the bank should receive it in 24-48 hours (exactly the same time frame I'd been given with the other two calls so I'm not sure how that is a rush job). She also told me that the notes reflected that I had requested the full account number be included in the letter but that they were unable to do that. They could only include the last four numbers. I laughed out loud because when the first CSR told me the full account had to be included, I'd asked if we could just show the last four digits and she told me that wasn't how it was done.
The third CSR was by far the friendliest and most helpful but she didn't really provide new information and it remains to be seen if the problem (why is this even a problem?!) will actually be resolved. As a side note, my balance is still zero so I am hopeful that the first letter(s) with the full account info never existed and I can stop worrying about the account being compromised. I'll keep watching for any activity on the card.

Each time I've called or emailed them, its a very different reason why they do this (and mind you, it's the only card I own that does this). They claim it's for fraud protection. In case people make a payment to the wrong account (wtf? so everyone has to be penalized for those few?). They claim it's because if it's a young account, they don't have a history of payment established yet. This is the real shady answer - They say they do it for all for protection but they recommend not making a payment as large so that the payment is not delayed... most people adjust. WTF? So don't make a large enough payment so you can accrue interest?
All this is BS and it seems like it.s just a way to take your funds and leave them in a money market account long enough to generate additional interest for profit. Not to protect the consumer. They're even dumb enough to tell me they looked back in the notes and saw that the last person clearly specified in there that they were doing something they weren't suppose to and then they go and do it themselves and it's literally a never ending cycle or ** not having any clue what they're doing. I will never shop at another Target again and I surely hope they go out of business just because of how completely stupid everyone working card services is.

I did not receive the Red Card in the mail, so received a cryptic email telling me to activate my card and to call a specific number if I had not yet received it. When I called that number, the automated voice on the line repeated the request to "enter my card number" 28 times. The only reason I waited 28 times to hear that message was that there was literally zero customer service number on the web that did not request me to enter my card number so I could ask what was going on.
The person on the line, once I got through, did not speak good English and after my explaining about my card not arriving, hung up on me without getting the information to get a new card. Then, after a 2nd time, the customer service person said I should expect the card in 6-10 days. I didn't receive it again. I called the line again, they said they were not able to close my account, and are sending the card a 3rd time. I have charged nothing on the card, have no card and can't apparently cancel the card.

This is absurd as I paid the first late fee even though I don’t believe it was in my control they took my payment a day later than scheduled. Called so many times and they haven’t helped at all. So I went to the Marlborough, MA Target with the Redcard and receipt and they promptly told me that I needed to go to the original store of purchase to get the 5% back. What gives? Same chain, same system, same everything, just a different location. I don't know if this is store policy, technology limitation, or clueless workers, but what a joke. IF YOU HAVE A RED CARD, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT WITH YOU AT TIME OF PURCHASE OR THEY WILL SCREW YOU. Just a word of advice. Signed, screwed and really aggravated.

It is on me to make payments on time but my experiences with my other credit card companies at least provided me with suggestions and possible solutions. I should have listened to one friends, who previously worked at Target, who warned me not to fool with Target and their Redcard.

I'd give zero stars if allowed. Calling the various customer service phone numbers, you're prompted to enter a card number 6 times before being given the option to report a lost or stolen card. Very few people would have the patience to be prompted 6 times. This is clearly an intentionally malicious obstacle. Alicia was my customer service representative and was entirely helpful. There were no problems or difficulties. I don't know why Target's phone service needs to prep customers to feel rage before connecting them with their employees.

When I noticed a 60 past due I called the company to let them know that's had not intended to apply for their credit card. Paid the original charge and interest but requested a waiver of the late fees. I was told they do not waive late fees after 30 days which makes no sense, how can you encounter late fees if you aren't past due? I requested a supervisor and was told one was not available and to correspond on writing. I sent a letter with no answer. Keep receiving calls that another late fee has been added so at this point I'm being charged $40 every month for late fees!!! They make no concession to help with the fees at all!!!

Target payment was the last thing on my mind during Hurricane Harvey preparations. I made the payment at 10 pm on the day it was due and Target considered it as late since it was after 5 PM. I did not know that anything after 5 pm was late. So I got a late fee tacked on to my account which was unaware of since I assumed it was zero. Then September came around and they tacked another late fee on because of previous month's late fee balance.
When I called to speak with customer service, they said the company had "graciously" waived the September late fee due to Harvey. I asked to have the August late fee waived instead so then there would not be a September late fee and Target REFUSED. Target is heartless. I don't plan on supporting a company that does not support its customers especially during hard times. Look at the companies who stepped up to help with Harvey relief efforts. I don't see Target helping anyone other than themselves.

I always pay my credit cards way before the due date and always "current full balance" not even the last statement balance. I paid over $114 for a purchase of $19.00 and actually after it affected and brought my credit score down. I found out that there was a purchase and they didn't bother to contact me, instead they contacted credit bureau that my bill hasn't been paid for over 4 months. So my Capital One & Citi Bank sent me emails that your credit score changed when I tracked it down, I found out I forgot about $19.00 purchase. So I paid $19+$114 immediately switched to the paper statement instead of the paperless statement and shredded my Target Credit Card.

Opened a Target card maybe around 2013/2014. Would use the card as needed and then pay via website. No major problems other than the ** time you have to pay by, (as long as I pay on the due date, who cares if it's after 6 pm!). Problems began in 2015; was having some medical issues and was not fully invested in my credit cards or paying tons at the card due to co-pays etc. associated with multiple dr visits. Balance was around $700, I go to pay my card online and am greeted by a prompt to call said number and unable to make any payments via web. Call customer services and I was sent to collections, yes I paid late. However I was more concerned with a possible cancer diagnosis than a pathetic Target bill. I was told collections would contact me. Months pass, I get a really shady letter from a debt collector out of NY.
Problem is they are claiming I owe $1100. Ummm, my limit was $1000 so I would like to know how it's possible to go over, plus I was down to maybe $700 or less as I was paying card off over 2-3 months. Pissed off I put the letter aside, and with life complications forgot about it. I was never sent any additional letters, calls or emails to obtain the debt. Fast forward to September 2017. The door to my building is called and there is someone delivery a letter that needs to be handed to a person. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it could be. The next evening, knock at the door and... I'M SERVED WITH A SUMMONS FOR SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR A ** $1100 BALANCE! Are you kidding me? Apparently TD bank took over the debt and is suing me! I was never sent anything from this law firm/debt collector office about the balance.
After debating on wasting a day off from work for this bull, I decide I don't have the time or energy to fight them and will see if I can work something out with the firm. Called and left a message, no one called me back. Finally the day of my court date I call the office and ask if they received my message and that I will not be at court. After being put on hold multiple times, to my surprise, they say they can't take any payments from me or help me. I am given an 800 number to call and they are to help with the matter. So I ask, "Who exactly am I calling?", and she replied TARGET! WTF, apparently my account is still active. So I have been accruing fees for YEARS on something no one could help me with, they ** serve me court papers and now I have to deal with these **?!
If anyone knows what I should do next I would greatly appreciate it as not only has this been such a nuisance, but the amount of stress having being served, (I have never done anything illegal, never been sued or had to go to court!) has really pissed me off! My plan is to take Target to court, how dare they treat their customers as such! After reading what others have gone through I realize how awful these large corporations are! I will never set foot in Target and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to boycott!

This past May I received my first Red Card bill. It was a little over $100 and I paid the whole amount within a few days. The next month I received a bill that included interest and a late payment fee that was more than one third the original bill. Thinking that I must have forgotten, I immediately paid it all. But when I checked my records I saw that I had indeed paid the first amount of time and my online bank statement indicated that a payment had been made to Target. I called Customer Service and after several relays I was finally connected to Crystal, to whom I explained the situation. I gave her my bank's phone number but the bank was closed for the he day so she said she would call them the next day to verify this.
A few weeks later I got a letter from Crystal asking for the whole story again. I sent a detailed report. After a few more weeks I got a letter from Crystal saying the claim was denied. In short, I had paid the bill, had proof that I paid it but they denied the claim anyway. This has never happened to me before. I have excellent credit and always pay bills long before they are due. Obviously, I will never use that card again, but it is a blot on my credit and I'm out almost $50.

I open my REDcard 2016, my minimum payment is always $27 to $37. I pay monthly $100 more than the minimum, I used to go to the store to make my payments but doing it online was more convenient. So I open the online account so I can make my payments directly from my checking account, I guess when I enter my bank account, I miss type the last number of my checking account. So when I process my first payment online it said your bank will reflect in 2 business days and I was ok with that because I knew that it takes time, so I waited 2, 3, 4 days. I called REDcard and they told me that the $100 payment was returned, and that was the reason that it was not reflecting.
So the representative from Target told me "we can contact your bank and see if the funds are available" and I said "I am seen my online banking and is available" but they said they needed to hear it from the bank. So 3 way call my bank they verify the funds and they post the $100 I asked my bank why is the reason that it was returned and the bank said "because when the bank account was enter you mistyped the last number of your account and we could not release the money", (I am glad that I was paying my Redcard 15 days before my due date) so the Target representative told me because was a returned item they put a fee on my account for $27. I was a little upset because like my bank said was a miss typo not that I did not had the funds to cover the payment but been my mistake I did not argue the fee.
So July comes and I make my payment I make, I am looking into my online to see by statement and it says your credit limit is $400 your balance is $262 and your available credit is $0. so I called REDcard again. I speak with a representative and she explains to me that the payment for July was returned so I said I don't understand why since in June happened the same thing. She said "let's call your bank to see if the funds are available" (mind you the previous representative in June told me my bank account was updated) so we call my bank again and they say is because the last number of your account is wrong and then I said but I thought the last representative in June had updated that then the representative from target tells me "no we can not managed that because you are the only one who can edit bank account online."
So there is another $27 for the month of July (me, I should of pay attention to the bank number when I was making the payment) ok I took the next $27 for the month of July. I go to my REDcard online today and my credit limit is $400 my balance is $262 and my available credit is $0 again so I called the representative tells me is because your payment was returned and I said "I know and you guys charged me $27 but I want to know why is my available credit $0." She said "well your account is in hold until we can verify with your bank" and I said I called on July 24th and they spoke with my bank and the payment was release by my bank and she said "Well I am sorry but if I can not call your bank I can not release your available credit."
So I asked to speak with a supervisor. A Bob supervisor comes on the line and says exactly what the other representative says and I told him "I understand that you guys had to charge me $27 June and July but if twice you guys have spoken with my bank and know that it was a miss typo why is my available credit not reflecting." He says "because your Redcard is going to have a Hold for the next 6 months" and then I say "why I paid the fines for my stupid mistake you guys spoke with my bank and it was because a mistake not because I did not had the funds and you want to put my account on hold for the next 6 months, mind you I haven't used my account for the last two months, why can you release the available credit" and he said "that is the policy of target an there is nothing I could do".
So I asked "so if I go directly to the store and make my payment in cash every month I will be ok?" and he says "NO your account is on hold for the next 6 months" and I told him "why if I am paying cash" and he said is "a penalty because the payments did not go" (I am glad that I had pay my account like 15 days before because if not I will get charge late fee). Mind you I haven't use my card. I have no available credit to use and I been paying more than the minimum every month they know that the payments did not go because a mistake not because not available funds but still they put my account on hold for 6 months and even if I go to the store and pay cash my account will still be on hold.
Here is the big reason why I don't like going to the store to pay it. Is because unfortunately is sad that I have to get to this point but my ex-husband had an affair with one of the logistics team leader and the managers knew me and knew about the affair. I thought in corporations having relations with employees more been team leaders/ manager was a big NO NO. So I avoid going there to pay or purchase anything because is embarrassing to see the people there and know that I was probably the laugh of everyone so that is the reason that I haven't use my card or go to the store, and if I have to purchase something either I do it online or I go to a different store.
But now I just want to be done with Target in General but I know if I go an pay my full balance and close my credit card, can affect my credit and I had work so hard to keep it in good. SO BEFORE YOU OPEN A REDCARD PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE CONDITIONS AND DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU, BECAUSEI did and I got played with the store and the Team Leaders and the Redcard.

Information requested for over a year still not sent - In the summer of 2016, I received a phone call from a collection agency regarding an outstanding bill due to Target on their CC. I did not remember opening a card in June of 2015 and before you all scratch your head, between May and July, my husband divorced me, sold our family home, I moved to an apartment, my mother was diagnosed with cancer and died a month later. Needless to say that time in my life was very hazy. So I told the collection agency that I don't recall this transaction, explained why (as mentioned above) and asked them if they could please send me a copy of the receipt so I could see if I actually did sign up for a Target CC. I explained that it could have been me, but I would like to see a receipt so I can hopefully recognize something on there.
About 3 months later I received 12 months worth of CC statements. I called the company and left the guy a voicemail saying I only received CC statements not the detail of what was purchased. About 5 months later a new collection agency got involved. I explained the same thing to him and he completely understood where I was coming from, and said he would get that for me. About 6 weeks later, I received the same CC statements in the mail. Today I get a call from the same collection agency. I told him that I received the same non detail stuff in the mail and told him what I needed again and explained why (seriously I don't feel like rehashing a horrid time in my life, but feel the need to explain why I may not remember opening a card), of course this guy was the big guns. Talking to me like I am lower than whale turds. He then gives me the number of the dispute at Target.
I don't want to dispute it. Disputing is just as bad for credit as having this on my credit, but I call them anyhow. Now I am being told by Target that I have to submit in writing what I am looking for and guess what, I have to send it on through snail mail. I can't email it, I can't fax it... Snail mail. Did I mention the original charge was 600 and change and now it's over 900 and change? Did I mention, I didn't get one bill from them and was shocked when the first collection agency called me? Did I mention that my credit score has taken a 100 pt. dive because of this so my car loan is at a higher rate? It's not right how Target handles these things. They certainly aren't consumer friendly, and I will avoid them at all costs even if/when I get this rectified.

I never got a bill for the $29. The ONLY way that I knew my credit was in the tank was because I looked at Credit Karma since I am a senior and going to sell my home and move into a senior rental. NOW THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM. I called Target to find out what happened, why they didn't bill me, they insisted that they did. They said that I had elected paperless billing... I hung up and took care of it after letting her know what I thought. I paid the bill when I hung up but my credit is in the toilet. Oddly, yesterday and again today (FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE December WHEN I JOINED TARGET RED CARD) I got an email telling me to log in and see how much I owed or disregard if I had paid. I cut my card in half, wrote a letter to the CEO of Target, and will never enter another Target store as long as I live. Don't do it... it isn't worth it. Stay out of their lousy stores. I finally was notified by my credit watch group that Target had turned me over to the credit bureaus for this $15 fee they charged me, that I had no knowledge of. They never tried to contact me or notify me but have turned me over 3 times now and the fee is up to now $19.
I can pay the fee without difficulties of course but that's not the issue. They have destroyed my perfect credit! Their customer service is horrible. I live in South Dakota and the billing came from Dallas, TX. It takes at least 7 days to get a bill where I live. Post dates are not looked at or even considered. So my recommendation is to pay with other credit cards or pay at the store at the time of purchase. Do not use Target Credit Cards at all. These billing agents can find another job by working hard instead of sitting all day collecting late fees...

Somehow the person {rep} left off a number from the acct and first payment got returned. {Was not a payment due} So I finally figured out what the probLem was and corrected it online. Next payment goes through perfectly and they won't release the payment to reflect the accurate available credit. So I send messages via their Chat line. I can three-way call with my bank. I say now it has been nearly 10 days since payment made and cleared my acct. Finally after several messages they fix it.
Just made another payment. All good and no issues but once again they are refusing to reflect the available credit accurately. Once again via online chat with a rep they won't fix it. I intend to pay off the balance soon and close the account. Don't need to be treated like this by a company that has had a lot of problems in the past. I would not recommend them. The other reviews support this viewpoint

I had to pay my statement yesterday and forgot. A few hours later, this morning, I was on the phone with a manager called Pilar. She said she was removing the late fee $27. Then, she change her mind and pretended she couldn't. Last time I was late was May 27, 2016 and I am always paying the statement balance in full. These people treat the client like dirt and have absolutely no respect.

I have had a Target Red Card for awhile now and have had nothing but problems with it. I heard it was so great to have and would save me money. It's been nothing but a pain. I was unable to change my address when I applied for one and so the first one got sent to the wrong address. After that it took them forever to send me my new card and my first bill. I couldn't set up an online account because I didn't have the new card. I was told after I got the card I would receive my first bill. When I did I had a massive late fee. I paid it because it might been the fault of the post office rather than Target.
After I got it they said I needed my checking information to paying online. I am under my boyfriend checking account and don't have access to that information. He honestly didn't know what it was. So I would just go into the store to pay it but I recently moved to a rural area outside of town and its an hour drive to get to town now. I got the checking information set up on the Target account and went to go pay it just to find out it was too late and past their online payment deadline for the day. I was furious I was never told there was even a deadline. I ended up paying the late fee even though it was still on that day.
So today I am struggling to get into my account and I call them thinking I still have time to pay it online to find out I am an hour past the time. Last time I was late I swear it told me 6 o'clock Central Time but the women on the phone tells me it's 5 o'clock Central Time. The lady on the phone tells me that she can take the payment but only if I know my check and routing number off the top of my head which I don't and couldn't get till tomorrow. I pretty much was told again that I would have a late fee to pay but maybe if I am eligible they would drop my late fee. When I asked what made me eligible the lady really couldn't say.
Seriously! Why is it so hard to pay this Red Card. I have tons of other cards and none of them have a payment deadline! Pay on the day its due and you are good. When I call them they help me out. Also they take debit cards if you need to pay that way. Target is so complicated and hard to pay. I am pay off the card and I am done shopping at Target. I usually buy most of my kids clothes and toys from there but forget it. Take my business elsewhere.

I paid my card in full, apparently after the "cut off" time. I was then charged a late fee on a $0 balance. And then the following month I was again charged a second late fee because of the balance due to the late fee. The kicker is that I never received a statement until after both late fees were assessed. I also never actually received my Red Card so I couldn't setup online autopayment or even create an online account. The statements were not being mailed consistently either. Target - I hope that $33 fee was worth a lifetime of my spending, because I will never shop at your store again.

I paid off my REDcard balance but somehow it left an outstanding $5.00 that was different than billing date. Nonetheless I do not get a statement and nor an email. I went to buy a car and when my credit was ran my score was low for being late 6 months on a credit card. When I got home I ran my report and it was my Target REDcard. With $13.00 now owed, yes they charged $1.00 each month in late fees and reported it as past due. Needless to say I'm more than upset and sent them an email. We'll see how they correct this. I would call but some poor employee would get blasted with more than one colorful word. DON'T USE THIS CARD EVER. THEY SUCK.

In December my daughter lost her Target REDcard. We did not have the account number, no online access and wanted to make a payment. One calls the number for Target's REDcard and it asks for the card number -- it is an automated system that does not allow one to enter their social security number instead. It offers nothing except for the option to enter the card number. Both myself and my daughter drove to different Target stores. The store staff cannot accept payment for the REDcard??? Why??? Other credit card companies allow one to talk to a human. Not Target. When I called Corporate I spoke with a series of rude, confrontational and staff not interested in my complaint. They treated me like a deadbeat. Avoid Target credit cards. They run the program like idiots.

Target's REDcard is the most horrible card experience ever. The company’s late fees start at 35.00, and continue to add on 50.00 fees. After giving them my banking account number after 3 months of alleged payments they told me they had the wrong account number and that I had late fees because of that. So I closed the account. When I went to pay them the full balance in which I got a reference number they called me a month later to tell me they had the wrong account number again. I have never been so frustrated in my life with a company. If they had let me know immediately there was a problem instead of giving me bunk reference numbers I could've avoided these fees. I see it as a hustle. They want you to keep racking up interest and fees so they can get as much as they can. I just paid them again, this time with my debit card, hopefully they take my payment and I never have to deal with them again.

So guess what Target does, instead of answering my question, they shut down my access to my account online, block my freaking card, don't contact me in any way. So annoyed!!! Do I really want to call in and go round and round with some moron who barely speaks English telling me my card was reported stolen. I NEVER reported it stolen.
Also, it tells you to call a number which is automated system that you HAVE to have your card number to get through. So, I have my card number, I have all my personal information and still cannot get unblocked? I asked a stupid question, while logged into my account when I was paying my freaking bill - Are criminals going to log in and pay my bill for me?? ** morons. I was balancing my checking account when I noticed two NSF fees, processed within a week for a Target balance. I called my bank and was informed that my Target Debit card had in fact attempted to collect funds. When I called Target I was informed that Target had in fact attempted to collect funds for a purchase I made. This began a twenty minute conversation concerning the fact the Target Debit Card was in fact not a debit card but a check card and that purchases made could take 1-4 business days to process, because the card was like a check. When I explained that I was told the card was a debit card, ie. if the funds were not available the card declined, the customer service rep. told me I was misinformed.
The card is a check card and my terms and conditioned clearly explained that if purchases were declined they would make 2-3 more attempts to retrieve funds. This would make sense, if I paid with a check or was paying a credit card bill. Bear in mind Target did not send me a bill for the balance. My recent bill stated I owed them nothing. Which would make sense, because I have a debit card! Target refused to refund the NSF fees, insisting that was an issue with my bank. So far I have been charged $60.00 for a $45.84. Do not get this card. It is not what they say it is.

After years shopping at Target I finally was persuaded to get a Target credit card, and it went downhill from the very beginning. The process did not take "2 minutes" as was promised. It took about 20 and held up the line for other customers. I was told that my receipt that day would serve as my card until my card arrived, in case I wanted to shop again. Lie #1. I tried to use my receipt twice and both times was told I could only use the card. My card never arrived. I called a month later and they said it should have arrived at my address in Texas. (I live in California and Texas.) It did not arrive either place.
After another 2 weeks I called and said to cancel the card; it wasn't worth it. I was transferred to 2 different people trying to get me to keep the card I never received. I declined. I confirmed my address was in CA not TX. The rep never told me I had a balance on the account. Lie by omission. I would think when closing an account, the company has a legal responsibility to tell you if you owe anything. It had been so long since applying for the card I'd forgotten that the groceries I bought the day I applied were charged to the card that I never received. Cut to: 5 months later I am back in Texas and there is one bill from Target. No card. One bill from August, 2 months after I applied for the card and 1 month after I canceled the card. Only then did I realize there was a balance on the card.
I called immediately because I thought someone else had received the card I was supposed to get, but was told I owed $95 for the in-store charges, but over $100 in late fees and interest. I paid the amount for the groceries, but told them I never received a card, only one statement to the incorrect address, so I should not be responsible for the fees. After 3 phone calls, confirming my address again, and speaking to a supervisor, I got nowhere and asked where I could write a letter to dispute these charges.
I wrote a letter to headquarters and received a letter back a month later (to my LA address) saying there was nothing they could do about the late charges. I called to just put it all behind me and pay them, and found out they were STILL CHARGING ME, after 6 phone calls, giving my LA address 6 different times, and writing a letter to dispute these charges, NOT ONCE was I told that my account would continue to incur fees. They kept saying "Per your cc agreement..." Well, i never received a cc agreement!!! I can not believe it is legal to intentionally not tell a cc holder that you have a balance or will incur fees after so many attempts to cancel a card I NEVER RECEIVED. What a horrid, unethical company.

I spoke to a Target representative to close and pay my Target Red card account. 8 months later I receive late fees. I call the customer service department to discuss what these late fees are about. I spoke to 5 people and each one said they will make a case. Every time I asked for a supervisor or manager I was referred another case number and advised I would get a call from a manager within 24-48 hours. A week and 3 days later I am still calling. Representatives are rude telling me why did I miss the call I was waiting for from a manager within the 24-48 hours. I finally get ahold of a corporate manager named Sarah and was very rude telling me that they will not help me with this account that was clearly closed 8 months ago.
My experience was very horrible. My advice to customer Target cardholders and those considering applying for one is to be aware of the late fees and the bad customer service. If you thought you closed your account, PLEASE make sure and call that it is closed. Clearly the representatives aren't here to help the customers but make money.

I have had many credit cards and perfect credit with lots of $ in my bank account to pay balance in full which I do on all credit cards. I have never experienced such awful customer service with an issue. They fully know what they are doing and it is a scam! The same as everyone else's complaints, charged a returned payment fee of $27, after signing up for auto-pay online. They do not alert you until after the due date that there was a problem with your account setup. I thought maybe I made a mistake and put in a wrong #, which they should alert you to if that is the case. Then I resubmitted bank info and the same thing happened.
Nothing online makes sense, you can not see your statements, you can not get to a representative until you reach the point of total frustration and threats, and then they email you that you need to hit # # # to get to a representative. This is consumer fraud at its finest, under the disguise of a well-loved and trusted company like Target. Terrible customer service. After 5 hours, several rude customer service reps, being hung up on, I am told the only way someone else's account info is on my account is if I put it there and they won't help with glitches in their system. There is clearly a glitch in their system but they refuse to look into it further and fix it. They explained it is not their system error.
I never received notice that there was an issue with my account and returned payments from wrong bank account until after they put it in collections as I had paid it off and statements up until they put it in collections said $0 balance. It is possible that if you use their online system that your bank info could be compromised and they refuse to acknowledge it. Horrible customer service.

After speaking with Jennifer who couldn't have been nicer I was told that even though they had my new account on file doesn't mean it's connected to auto pay. So why would they want bank information if not for auto pay. She explained it's a two step process, which of course tells you this NOWHERE on their website!!! So now I have a return fee of 35.00, of course they can't refund it, easy way to make money Target. I just want to leave some feedback about my, so far, negative experience with the Redcard. We got a little behind on payments when my husband was laid off early 2016 and was out of work for several months. We have been getting caught up and worked out a payment plan. Well, apparently, even though we are on a payment plan Target is continuing to tack on $35 late fees! My payment plan payments are on time, but the only response Target gave me was that I am still technically behind and they will continue to charge late fees until I'm no longer past due.
So basically each time I make a payment, they will tack on $35 late fee and it'll take me 10 times longer to get this paid down... which I am assuming is what they hope for, so they can continue to charge late fees each month. Currently I pay $25/month and I get charged a $35 late fee each month... so basically I get $10 further into debt each month and I will never be able to pay this off, unless I can pay larger amounts each month. I love Target, but I am incredibly disappointed by this!

When I moved, I updated my address with REDcard over the phone. They read it back to me, and it was correct. One day, my REDcard was declined at the register, so I logged into my account to see what was going on. My account had late fees and interest charged to it even though I always pay the balance in full. It turns out that they changed one digit in my address, which obviously caused the next statement to never be delivered to me. A little research showed that there is an established pattern of Target making these "mistakes" because they know they'll be able to rack up a bunch of invalid late fees. The customer service reps are trained to do this. It is intentional, and it is evil. The people who run REDcard belong in prison.

Over the past few months, my previous Target Credit Card had expired and I applied for a new card from the store to take advantage of the 5% off purchase rate. I made a number of purchases over the past 2 months and as had been previously the case, waited for my bill statement to arrive in the mail. Then during the past week, I finally received such a statement - only to realize that I was now delinquent for 2 past billing cycles and charged a late fee as well as cumulative interest. I immediately made contact with Target explaining to them that there was a big discrepancy with the overdue payments owing to my not being notified by them via the mail. Absolutely no consideration was given, barring the removal of the interest fees which were minute compared to the onerous "late fees" charged me.
Astounded at the lack of consideration and indifference to what was clearly to me a 'failure to communicate', I made 3 separate attempts to plead with this outfit to absolve my late charges as I reiterated again and again and again I NEVER RECEIVED MY BILLING STATEMENT. The upshot was thusly that "our department indicates that the bills were sent out... etc." And that it was incumbent upon me to prove differently. In over 15 years of owning several credit cards, I have never missed a payment and have actively maintained a credit score of 775-810. Whenever I have had a past dispute in a parallel scenario with other credit cards and businesses, without exception accommodation and resolution was attained to an end positive result.
The attitude and 'scripted' unintelligent responses I was given from Target Credit Card reps were abject and reflected a complete lack of consideration for the customer. I even managed to speak to a supervisor agent, who like her underling predecessors, came across as an automaton with no cogent explanation towards what I construed as harsh and draconian measures towards what was an honest oversight. "We don't think it's appropriate to make special consideration for one customer as this would be unfair towards the rest of our customer base." I was duly informed, after emphasizing that this whole fiasco was predicated on my not receiving their bills. I implored them to reason and diplomacy and was completely shot down for my efforts. I specified to them that I had a sterling track record for making timely bill payments with them and other outfits as they could examine for themselves - but all to no avail.
I know that it's been said before, and elsewhere in other circumstances but believe me, I mean it when I say I am absolutely *DONE* with Target as a business, period. And I will do everything in my power to advise anyone willing to hear my testimonial about the shoddy treatment I received. If Target were as proactive towards encouraging its customers towards signing up for email and text billing alerts as it is towards pu$hing their asinine RedCard, this incident would have never happened. I assumed to my detriment that the delayed bill I received was attributed to the closing of my previous card and reopening of as new one as they phased out the previous card after inactivity. My mistake - and theirs.

I always pay on time for my Target Redcard Mastercard and pay off 100% of the balance. Recently I had a roughly $1164 balance and paid it off in full from my Wells Fargo Bank account on 11/14/2016. Almost half a month later on November 29th my card was declined at Target when trying to use it for the 5% discount. I had put maybe $300 of other payments on in the days after I paid the balance. My Wells Fargo payment showed it had been debited on 11/14/16 for the full amount of $1164 yet when I called Target Mastercard Redcard customer service they told me they had a "hold" on my card because it had a "big balance" since funds had "not yet been received" (almost half a month later?!).
I escalated it to a supervisor who pretended we had a bad connection on the phone line and eventually actually hung up on me. I called back again and the same thing happened a second time, the supervisor hung up on me and claimed to have a bad connection when I said I wanted to cancel my card. When I got home I called again, and the SAME THING happened, I was escalated to supervisor and she pretended to have a bad connection again (I was in my home at this point where I have never had a bad connection).
I asked to cancel my card and she hung up on me. They did remove the "hold" on my card and I can use it, but I think some type of financial trickery is going on at this company because they are holding funds for over half a month. Customer service pretends to have "bad connections" and is rude and will hang up when you question them or ask to cancel your card. In my belief some type of dubious financial scam is going on here, and it is very intentional. I intend to cancel my card if they let me.

I ordered a Christmas gift last night for $176.00 online and was looking at more to buy but decided to wait until the next day. Let's just say the credit limit was $2300.00, but received a letter in the mail stating that I haven't used my card for a year and I would have to use it within the next 2 months or the account would be closed and my credit limit dropped to $200.00. I never got any notice from Target about this until it had already happened, glad I didn't make any other purchases or it would have been over the limit of which I knew nothing about. I'm guessing they don't want my business for I buy things when I want them not to just satisfy a credit card account.
I called the number on the back of the card and talk to a woman about the situation and she stated that it was a security ordeal that if you don't use your card within a year this would happen, now here it is close to Christmas and I was going to buy more but not now. I ask to speak to her supervisor and a woman named Jennifer answered the phone and basically said the same thing; however. She also said that they review your creditworthiness every month and need a call from you every year or before to give them your income to keep the credit that you have. I ask her why I didn't get an e-mail and she said they don't e-mail. I ask why then didn't they send me a letter before this happened and she said they don't do that either and it was policy that I should have known about.
Jennifer stated that if I give her my income for verification that they (whoever they are) would check it out for a credit increase of the $200.00. I ask her if they would have this finish before Christmas and she said she has NO idea but I would just have to wait. I told her that Target must be doing great financially for they don't need anyone's business since they just drop customer's credit without getting a hold of them before. I will probably wait on the increase and cancel the card a couple of months later for I don't really need their card or need to do business with them anyway. I think that this is a poor way of doing and keeping customers.
You have to buy something that you don't want or need every 10 months or so. If you don't buy anything within 14 months your account will be closed. I have several credit cards and I'm lucky that my credit is excellent, none of my other cards close the account for lack of use. The other companies must know that eventually I will use their cards when I need or want something not to just satisfy their wishes to keep the card for something I don't need or want. The moral of this write-up is to inform all customers of Target's practices and that I will NO longer be doing business with them again. It is nice to know that Target is doing so well financially.

They ask you for all the information and then at the very end say they can't process this at this time. This is just to reset a password. Then if you call their 1-800 system they again collect all the information and after many more choices made on the phone system say their offices are closed. What kind of a company is that which is operating in 2016 with no phone customer service on a weekend during the day.
I am very happy with Target brick and mortar stores and with such a bad experience online I will start looking elsewhere. They should hire good user interface experts and programmers and pay someone to operate a 24x7 customer service. I am canceling my red card and will shop Amazon for future needs. It is no wonder why Target is having issues keeping up with online retailers. Now I know how bad their decision makers are on the business side. Maybe they have some business case to make it hard for people so that they can collect late fees on credit cards.
