WARNING!!!! paid my card as agreed every month for over 2 years. Only to realise they were charging me High interest (in a zero interest economy) plus a 12.50 monthly fee and a $29 annual fee, All of which I was never aware of. Would not recommend this card to my worse enemy. I since paid off the card with a ZERO interest rate card.

Aspire Visa Credit Card sent me pre-approval mailings every month for their credit card. Finally, I made a decision to accept the card since it said I was pre-approved and even gave me an acceptance code. When I did, it declined me and said it would send me a letter within 30 days with details. Nothing on my credit has changed. I believe it is poor business to lure someone in with an attractive offer and then turn them down for that offer. I really wish they had never contacted me. If contacted in the future, I will contact the appropriate person within their company and tell them where they can stick their lying offers.

AWFUL! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! This company is terrible. 3 times so far they have locked my card. Every time I use the card they lock it then I have to call customer service and go through a whole song and dance about getting it turned back on. This last time they froze my card and told me I need to verify my ID by sending a picture of my ID and latest bill. I did that, then they told me to send it to another email address, then after that I was told to send it to another. I can never get a hold of their fraud department who are the only ones who can unlock my card. It has been 3 weeks of trying to contact them and still no luck. I have reported them to the BBB and will not be paying any amount of money owed until I get someone who knows what they are doing.

I applied for this card. They gave me a preapproval for $1500. I accepted the offer and was denied. I have a higher credit score than my wife and I make over a 100 grandeur and yet they approved her for a small amount and denied me. They made a hard inquiry on my account so I cannot purchase the cabin I was going to purchase in the fall considering they ruined my credit. This is fraudulent. Something needs to be done.

If I could give 0 stars I would! This company’s customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life!!!!! They refuse to help you, read you a script and cannot answer straightforward questions, the supervisors are even worse!! Don’t ever accidentally pay your balance twice you will never get your money back!!!! They lie and tell you that you will receive a refund check and you never get it but it’s taken from your account! I have hired a consumer protection attorney to help get my money back they stole from me!! Terrible company!

I received a pre approval from Aspire only to put in info and was denied. This has to be illegal if for nothing else false advertising. This is not a pre-approval. This is pre qualified. Basically a scam.

UPDATED 9/2/2021: I have been contacting Aspire for replacement credit card. I have been doing so for about 5months now. They all review my address then tell me they will send a new card.. STILL HAVE YET TO RECEIVE IT..

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I put in request for new card 4 months ago & I still have yet to receive it. The customer service is very horrible when you hold them accountable for their wrongs. There is no way it takes this long to receive a replacement card.. This service is real unprofessional I prefer & recommend NOT GOING WITH THIS CARD.

This has to be one of the worst credit card you can get. Do not get this card. These people obviously do not have we're not raised by mothers. They are complete low-lives. I really can't even think of a word for them and I hope they suffer.

I have never received this card. The balance on it is $112 although I have never received it. Was initially sent out (supposedly) on May 30th. Today is 07/23 and I still do not have the card. I have spoken with them several times and have even asked them to cancel the card and they still have not done so. It's a fraud. Try a different company, folks.

Approved for the MasterCard on May 26, 2021. It is now July 12, 2021 and I have not received the card. Spoke to customer service allow 14 business days. I setup my online account anticipating the arrival of the card. It now shows a late fee for a payment that was due on July 7, 2021. If I have not received nor activated the card, why am I being billed a late fee. I didn't expect to pay for the hope of receiving the card. Still attempting to resolve this matter. My hope is if you as a consumer decide to apply for the card please be aware of my scenario.

I ordered a new card number when my mail was stolen. That was May, it's July now! Still waiting and being charged $12/ mo for the honor. Card was supposed to be here but never sent. Then they were going to send the same acct #. If you want good service, look elsewhere!

I'm so pissed. I applied for the Aspire master card only to get denied claiming my credit score is 589, which is a lie! My Fico score is 666. So I'm not sure what model they used maybe the vintage 9 but that not right. Anyway not knowing what score they will be using I ended up with a inquiry on my credit report which lowered my score. What a waste of time!!

Logging in my acct to make payments on my Aspire Visa card have not been an easy task - after I have already entered in payment info - there's nowhere I can click submit to submit a payment. I don't have time to dick around trying to move my cursor on the computer screen to process a payment. You guys should really improve on making payment easier.

I have had a credit card for a while thru Aspire. I have been paying my account off monthly for about 6 months. As of the middle of may I paid my $109.00 balance off then on June 2nd my account was compromised. I found out thru a email that charges were made that I had not made so I called them and said charges were made like $1.80, $2.00, then $10.00 then higher and higher in one day. Now knowing this doesn't seem right why would they accept these charges?? So now they are sending me more emails on more charges after I closed my account on june 2nd. I have been on the phone with them numerous times and getting nowhere. They said they will investigate it and I have to put on paper what I didn't charge. I told the representative that's easy..I haven't charged anything since May 16th.They said I need to put all charges on paper. How?? I don't get a statement in the mail just emails here and there and I didn't make this mistake, they did!! Sooo frustrated right now.

I got a pre approved letter in the mail for a $1500 Mastercard from aspirecreditcard.com, entered my pre approved code into the website, and answered all the questions correctly, my Fico score was 686 at the time, after hitting my credit with a hard inquiry they denied me. So they baited me with fake approvals only to deny me and hit my credit with a hard inquiry. For someone building credit this can be very detrimental, this hit dropped my score by 9 points. Thanks for the pain Aspire. CONSUMER BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!!

I got a pre approval from this company for 2000 in March 2021, not that I needed it, but since it said no annual fees I figured I'd apply for it and cancel one. I was pay a yearly fee. Got approved and all their emails, when the card showed up, a week or so later I go to activate the card and find I I have a amount due for 59 dollars! A yearly fee and that fee every year after! So clearly they believe in baiting customers. They'd to call customer service to get hung up on three times when I tried to explain that this card wasn't suppose to to have a annual fee. I have paid their fee for the year since it hit my credit, but cut the card up and after the year I'll close the account so it doesn't damage my credit as bad. I am filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission about this because it is very misleading and many people need that extra money for other reasons rather than to be lied to by a bank.

Holy socks Batman. ): I applied for this Mastercard for rebuilding my credit, following the 2020 Covid downturn. I totally understood about the $35 annual fee, as that is common. But NOT the whopping $175 startup fee they automatically tacked on. NOT stated in the original disclosure agreement I downloaded. Very sneaky and conning. I won't be using this card.

I believe people are talking about two different cards. However The Aspire Visa was closed down. And the Aspire Mastercard is same company but similar. I received the Mastercard and I have had no problems. I believe if you get an offer for it and you need to build credit it's worth it. As long as you pay your balance in full each month.

This company closed my account over a merchant error of not having sufficient funds. I've had perfect payment history with them. I think they just want customers who will only pay the minimum due. I never received any return payment fee or even a statement from them that they were going to close it.

I received a few letters from them in the mail saying I was pre-approved. It took me years to build my credit score to what is is today which is good, not great but in the 700 range. I disregarded the first few letters as I didn't want another card with a yearly fee. Eventually I talked myself into it to use it to keep business expenses easily separated for taxes. the letters kept getting better as far as interest rate, yearly fee and credit line. So I went to sign up online with my acceptance code and came to a facial recognition page that matched up a pic of me with my license. That was a joke, apparently my 1 year old license pic didn't match up after 6 tries with phone and laptop so I emailed them.

After 2 emails they told me to screw off and wouldn't accept me or that there was any fault or problem on their end. Ok np, the letters kept coming, so 1 fail that put an inquiry on my report after the deals again got better I figured maybe they fixed the issue with facial recognition, so now my credit even better I tried again. This time no facial recognition, sweet! It wanted my bank info, np except my bank wasn't on there 20 bank list...however it let me bypass but again was denied. 2 inquiries on my report.. A couple months later again letters and this time a very good deal and yes was dumb enough to fall for it again, denied are 3 inquiries on my credit report and still no card.

The credit limits and interest rates they were offering me in my pre-approved letters couldn't possibly not accepted me for even lower limit and higher rates!! Makes no sense at all and huge waste of time and aggravation. Me just being the unlucky one, is a stretch to believe at this point. Good luck with this company. I am removing myself from their prescreen offers as I am not falling for it again to get 4th inquiry that was worthless and hurt more than helped at all.

I received a pre-approved letter for a Aspire credit card with a $700 credit limit. I figured I would apply for it to pay off a couple of bills. I turned the letter over to read the terms. Bozo the clown must wrote those terms because they are laughable. APR 36.00%, annual fee $175 for the first year then $49 every year after. $150.00 account maintenance fee and a late fee of $40 lol, I’m not that desperate. With all the negative reviews I can’t see how they got a 3 1/2 stars. Stay away from this company as far as you can.

Like many people I'm having trouble paying my credit cards because of COVID 19. I signed up with Consumer Credit Counseling to negotiate lower interest rates and payments. Aspire would never answer their offer and they tried to leave multiple messages. They did however call me every single day. Someone from the Philippines. The fact that they outsource makes me angry enough. They also sent me to collections after only 30 days late even though Consumer Credit Counseling was sending them partial payments on my behalf. This is the worst credit card with 36% interest. Highly not recommended!

So, I have read a bunch of these reviews.... and I am wondering if I am dealing with the same company. I was pre-approved for $1,500 with a $0 annual fee & $0 maintenance fee. The online application went as they stated it would & it was actually approved. I am expecting the credit card within the next 2 weeks. I was also able to connect to their website to log in with my new account. Everything so far, looks on the up & up. I will definitely keep the original offer & receipt of approval in case this goes south. But so far, it has fraud protection & a free credit score feature when logging in. So I guess I am the first non 1 star reviewer... if anything changes tho - I will be sure to do a proper update to this review.

I had this card for about a year, had a zero balance and I knew that when my year was up they were going to charge me a monthly fee and an annual fee of $59. All that was fine, but when I got my last statement, they said my interest rate was going up 13 percentage points. I called and canceled the account. It had a zero balance so I wasn’t worried, but I went to check it to make sure it was closed, and suddenly I had a $64 bill. This was the annual fee of $59 plus the five dollar monthly fee.

I called to find out why if I canceled this account I’m getting charged this fee. I was told that this was standard and in my terms agreement. I checked that and it wasn’t. When I said that, the agent I spoke to got annoyed with me and told me that it’s They can. I know that this card has been reported to the FTC a lot, I know that there was a lawsuit for their predatory practices when it was with Compu Credit. I think there should be a another class action suit against them. Clearly they are predators. Stay away.

This company should be investigated by the FTC. They charge you 25.00 when they feel like it stating automatic payment did not go through. My Bank and statements show NO ATTEMPTS to take this money. I paid what was owed and closed the account. ALWAYS CHECK REVIEWS prior to getting a Credit Card. REPORT COMPANIES LIKE THIS TO THE FTC. There are enough of us on here to file a class action suit against them and SHUT THEM DOWN. They are Thieves.

I reported the card stolen the same day I spoke with the Fraud department. Supplied all necessary information, responded within the time frame and after three months was told they rejected it because it came in late, even though it was sent (2 copies) within 15 days. The initial charge was $1,500.00. I spoke to them several times with no satisfaction. Two other cards were fraudulently used and the purchases were forgiven. I would not wish this card on my worst enemy. They have receipts, time of purchase and store locations. They did nothing but let the interest build. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I guess it's my fault for applying for a substandard card. I've lost my credit rating forever.

Aspire closed my account after I applied to use the credit protection I had been paying for. They continued to bill me for the protection but do not allow it to be used. They then reported my account as closed by credit grantor which dropped my score. They refuse to reopen the account because they said I went over my credit limit on two occasions in the past year.

I recently applied for credit with Aspire. Before entering my SS# I specifically did not want a hard pull on my report. There was a question next to the SS# field intended for the applicant to understand "why are you asking for this?" It said so that they could make sure it is a match with the credit report they were going to pull" (up to that point inferring it would be a soft pull) not that it would trigger a hard pull of your report. I would have never given them my SS# to get an initial credit review otherwise. The advertising flyer I received indicated that I could check my approval status without impacting my FICO score.

I received a pre-approval letter in the mail stating that I had been approved for a $500 credit limit. I thought "Great! I can get an unsecured card". I went to the website, keyed in the acceptance code and was immediately declined. Now that inquiry will go against my credit rating, which I am trying to improve. After being denied, I read the fine print on the back of the offer. APR is 36%, annual fee is $125 for the first year and $39 for every year after, and the account maintenance fee is $120 annually. This is usury and Aspire is a predatory company. Please beware!

Never use Aspire. Their website says "make a payment with a debit card" then when you enter the info it says, "sorry this appears to be a credit card". NO it says debit on the card, it is a debit card, your system is broken. I tried two different debit cards. Same outcome. Their chat is as useless as their website. Now I owe over a $180 for a card I never used. I will be terminating this predatory lending account since there is no viable way to make a payment except snail mail. It's 2020, I guess the owners Randolph and Mortimer still think its the 1980s.

I received a pre-approved card from Aspire (MASTERCARD) letting me know that I was accepted and I must put in a acceptance code and get my new card after being pre-approved. I decided to come on this review site first with-out accepting it and look up the reviews. The negative reviews was heartbreaking with this company, they have scammed and misled so many by stealing their money. $175 annual fees. Annual percentage Rate 36%. This is crazy and ridiculous. Stay away from this company. SHRED the INVITATION. Beware!!

I was sent a pre-approved letter for this card. I applied and got the card with $400 limit. Last week I made a payment for $300 (as I maxed out my card). The payment was reversed somehow, and I made the payment again. After calling multiple times to see what was happening with my account I found out they closed my account "due to bad credit rating and a reversed payment." I asked how I got a pre-approved letter if that was the case. Anyway since I owed them a balance they are keeping the payment and I still owe them. That money was for my son birthday. I'm mad, because as much as I called no one told me till days later. Too many issues with using this card.

I had received a preauthorize invite from Aspire in the start of November 2019 so I decide to go forward and was approved for a new credit card with them. I was then told I would get the card in 7 to 10 business days. At the end of November I got a bill from them saying I owe $125 but I never got the card in the mail. I called them and was told to cancel and they would resend another card. Still to this day I never got a card. At this point I don't want an account with this company and I would highly suggest anyone else don't get caught up in their scam. I was looking for a card to rebuild my credit and not make it worse.

This card is awful, the account hasn't been open for very long and they closed the account. They did this without notifying me, the only way I found out was due to me getting alerts from Credit Karma. Budget Rent a Car sent a charge to the card that is obviously incorrect and the just shut the card down without a phone call. You would think the company is on their customer's side but no. So now I have this card on my credit which I will dispute. They are just bad for business and I wish I would have looked at review first. I don't even want to get started with their customer service... It's the worst!

They use a method of holding available funds if the amount paid is over 50% of the balance for 5 business days. I'm sure this is to deter consumers from paying their balance in full to avoid interest. Their customer service is not knowledgeable and you will receive different answers from each representative. Just don't even open this card. There are better cards out there.

A short time after I got this card, I realized what an awful company. When I had enough money to pay Aspire off and be done with them, I did so. So I asked them precisely what I owed to get the balance down to zero and close it out and I paid that. Then a few weeks later, I was hit with "trailing finance charges," and to this day, I don't know if it was legal on their part, but I paid them anyway. So this August, the account was finally removed from my credit history, bringing my Equifax score down 2 points. The thanks I get for leaving Aspire in good standing. From my POV, a terrible cc company and one to stay far, far away from.

My husband did file Bankruptcy Chapter 7 and Aspire disregards this fact, disregards our Lawyer's letters, keeps sending us statements with late fees. I assume if this ends to the court one day I will bring my bankruptcy file and my Lawyer will support the fact that the card was listed under the bankruptcy file and every attempt to collect a debt will consider as a way to violate any provision of the United States Bankruptcy Code. I see Aspire could go up to 10 years after people who did file a bankrupt. I am curious if there is any legal way to stop this before we actually go to the court where Aspire should pay a fine for disregarding the facts.

Got a notice for collection also for an Aspire Visa today for 2005. Called the collection company who said it was continuous which is absolute garbage. I may have had this card years prior that was under bankruptcy over at least 10 years ago. He did say it went to collection 2005, 2008 and 2009, he was speed talking also as if he didn't want me to hear what the actual spiel was. I'm guessing whoever collected my bankruptcy info disregarded it and passed it along to the next company to waste some time, because this is no longer or has never been a debt I carried. It's also quite possible theft, but as it hasn't been on my credit report for the last at least 10 years, it is in fact invalid.

I received in the mail on October 7, 2016 a Debt Collection from NCB Management Services Inc about an Aspire Visa Credit Card account in default of payment for $1891.03! To my surprise and bewilderment I NEVER applied for an Aspire Credit card and I never received a Visa Card from Aspire! I immediately contacted TransUnion and placed a Fraud Alert for my credit bureaus. Today, I filed an official Police Report for Identity Theft and will find out why I have this card in my name and possibly who has done this criminal act. I am trying to contact this company but it looks EXTREMELY "strange" and shady. In fact, I did NOT see any actual Customer Service Number to phone them only an Atlanta, Georgia P.O. Box address. This is purely unacceptable!

This company was horrifying to deal with and ever so often they creep up like a weed. They only partially applied the SCRA, and this was maybe 16 years ago, but if they had fully applied it, they likely would have owed me money. They then sold the 'debt' and I've been harassed repeatedly through the years. I unfortunately don't have all the documents anymore. Through our military moves, we have had many things lost, but this was one of the most horrible companies I have ever had to deal with. I'm sure when I least expect it another company will buy the debt and I'll have to explain the entire thing again, but they tell me there is nothing I can do since Aspire sold the debt before resolving it. Way to show appreciation to Servicemembers and their families.

I received a called from ASPIRE VISA today 2/19/16 that they are taking me to collection for a card I supposedly had on 2005! I never had a credit card with them! They said I need to pay $1200 immediately to avoid collection. I read many people having the same fraud situation with this company! What should I do? Need help.

I had a card with Aspire Visa in which I had a $4,000 credit limit. I didn't use it for several months, and then when I need a new computer I used the card to purchase it. Shortly after I lost my job, and tried to contact the company, but for some reason neither my PIN nor the last 4 of my social would work (which you had to enter in order to speak to a customer service rep). I wrote them a letter on the invoice and mailed it back to them. A few weeks later I have a detective at my door ready to arrest me for identity theft!

Somehow, even though they record you for quality control purposes, they got my info mixed up with someone they were trying to snag as a customer and told her to press charges! I spent 3 hours in jail and humiliated. It was a nightmare that lasted a little over a month. It all ended when I asked for their recording of our phone conversation. Suddenly they dropped the charges. These people don't care about their customer. They just want your money!

I had an aspire visa card 8+ years ago. Not sure what happened to my account actually because it was so long ago. I'm sure my balance was no more than $500 if that. They waited 8 years to contact me. Over those 8 years my balance is now $3,128 which what they sued me for and now wanna garnish 10% of my gross wages. Never got a chance to fight it in court. I need help fast in what I should do next since they’re gonna start garnishing my wages soon. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!

I received a letter in the mail from PLAINTIFF: MIDLAND FUNDING LLC ASSIGNEE OF ASPIRE VISA ACCOUNT, claiming I owe a debt of $5765.00. A "Writ of Garnishment" threatens to collect my wages. Need help fast. I have no credit cards, how is this happening? I went through this years ago with Aspire. I never signed anything in agreement with this, nor have they provided anything other than a debt for a credit I never had. I received this notice Jan 7, 2015, stating I have 30 days until garnishments begin.

I was recently just financed for a new car, late Oct 2014 and had no problem because I am a home owner. Paid off two other vehicles etc., and provided proof with Wells Fargo accepting me. My "credit score" wasn't an issue, even though I have no credit cards. Something needs to be done to stop this financial war going on behind the working man's back and ruining lives. I'm going to the Circuit Clerk's office, in hopes for assistance but will surely need lawyer(s) action. This entire situation is beyond me and many other victims also, something needs to be done quick and fast. Please help by replying to my email address.

I had an aspire card around 15 years ago, it had a 500.00 credit limit. They started to charge me insane fees, so I cancelled the card. I paid off the balance and never heard anything until early last year when a law office started harassing me. Apparently aspire never registered me paying off the card, turned to account over to midland funding (whom I never heard from) and they turned over to a law office. The amount they say I owe is a bit over 2 grand, and they want that money, so out of fear of them garnishing my wages I started paying them a little bit every month. All they tell me is its aspire visa and they got the account from midland funding. They will not stop harassing me, they even started calling my work. The only way they will stop harassing me is either: I pay off the balance in full or I get proof from aspire that I paid this off. I cannot get ahold of anybody. I have no idea what I can do, and I barely scrape by and can't afford to keep paying this law office. Avoid aspire at all costs.

I have read so many stories regarding the Aspire Credit Card and its Bad Reputation. I am with You All ~ I opened a Card with only a $300.00 Limit in 2006...Paid in Full. Now I am getting phone calls from Portfolio Credit demanding $3,840.00!! What!? I'm in Shock! It is on my Credit Report but showing Under Columbus Bank and Trust Co. Which I have Never Heard of...And No Idea why. Can anyone tell me if Aspire Credit Card is any way Associated with Columbus Bank and Trust? I have worked so hard over the years to get my credit rebuilt and am shamed to see what these companies can get away with!

I have NO Credit Cards! If I Did... I know I wouldn't have gotten a credit card with That High Of a Limit due to Sudden Bankruptcy I filed after my Young Husband was killed in an explosion. I am getting Nowhere with the Portfolio Recovery Services. I have reported this for Dispute on my Credit Report. No follow up yet. Does Anyone know if Columbus Bank And Trust is Affiliated with Aspire Visa?

I received a packet from Portfolio Recovery about 8 weeks ago. It said I owed $1,297.00 on an Aspire Visa I got in 2004-2005. The problem is I never had an Aspire Visa. I wrote on the letter that it was a fraudulent account. I had moved to another state a year prior to the opening of the account. Although Portfolio acknowledges my dispute, now they want me to fill out an identity theft affidavit and have it notarized and sent back to them along with all my personal information and copies of my driver’s license, social security card, copy of police report, copies of other letters I received regarding the debt, and proof of where I lived during the time of the fraud.

First of all, I am not giving them my info or any other items they want. For one thing, the account was opened and closed 8 years ago (!), not to mention the first I've heard about it was when they sent me the letter saying I owed them. They also want me to assist in prosecution of the individual(s) responsible. How in the hell am I supposed to know who the culprit was if I didn't even know about the account until 8 weeks ago! I've moved to 2 different states since 2004 and don't have proof of where I lived back then. I clean out my paperwork every year and dispose of the items that are 7 years old. Those utility bills and rent receipts have been shredded a long time ago.

My identity was stolen and my credit destroyed in 1999 when I fell prey to an online scam. I have had nothing but problems since then. I reported it at the time; however, the town where I lived did not have a computer crimes division until 2006, by which time I was already elsewhere.

Isn't this illegal? I have no verification of the account other than Portfolio's letter, which was sent back to them when I complained about the fraud. They claim they purchased the account from Midland Credit Management in 2007. If that is the case, why did I only hear about it this year? I am so tired of all the BS. This is not the only account Portfolio is trying to make me pay. 5 months ago, I was notified I was in default on a student loan in Georgia. I have never even been to Georgia, much less gone to school there!

I wish the government would put the screws to them and make them send verification of it being my account when they ask for payment. I am only now starting to rebuild my credit. I became disabled in 2003, which necessitated my move to another area. Needless to say, they will not receive a single penny from me! Just try and put me in jail.

One of the credit cards I did have at the time of the fraud was a Capital One card. I found out about the fraud when I received my bill from them and a $1,500 limit was over $3,000 in one month. I reported it to Capital one and cut up and returned my card to them requesting an itemized list of all charges, of which I would gladly pay what was actually mine. This was never done. Capital One gave me a credit card this year, and lo and behold, here comes Portfolio trying to make me pay the bill from 1999! Capital One should have completed my request then. I refuse to pay charges that are not mine, especially when I became aware of them I reported the theft. And most of all, I refuse to pay a debt that is 13 years old!

After paying off Aspire years ago, I received a letter from a collection agency stating I owe them $1,183. I am tired of this company getting away with their illegal practices of trying to collect money from consumers who paid their bills. Why doesn't the FTC put a stop to this? There have been enough complaints against them. If anyone wants a class action suit against them, I'm in.

After years of being with them, I was dropped like a hot potato without any explanation. All they said to me was, "I am so sorry." This is a 10-year relationship. Now I am unemployed, I paid my full balance. First I sent in $40 by the due date, and then sent the remaining $735.54 by the following week. I got a bill, but the person I spoke to didn't care about my situation and said I still had to pay the interest charge. "I am unemployed," I said. I paid. Well, I truly do not recommend anyone to even think about taking a credit card with Aspire. They are unfair to their customers. You can hardly get a hold of anyone to talk to. Please do not trust Aspire!

Aspire closed and dropped off the face of the earth. My account closed overnight. I never even received a letter or anything. I didn't know where to send payments. No customer service number, nothing. Now Midland is on my credit report as well. Aspire, I believe went bankrupt. Anyhow, I’m now fighting with the 3 credit bureaus on this. What I just learned is that, if the collection agency is not able to fully validate the debt with original contract, complete list of payments made, full explanation of interest, etc. (why balance is what it is), that legally they cannot report to the credit bureaus.

I sent a validation letter to them and never heard back. They can be fined for this. I sent a letter to all 3 credit bureaus explaining that this collection was never validated with myself when requested, that this is illegal and not liable for them to report per the FCRA or FDCPA. I have a thing for junk debt buyers. All they do is harass and try to make a buck. Most of them are overseas. In my letter, I asked for full validation and to cease and desist until that full validation is met. That is why I never heard back. So now, I’m fighting with the credit bureaus to make them understand this law.

My account was paid in full several years ago through a buyout. I have proven it to the collection agency at least 7 times. They called again today and wanted me to pay again! I refuse to send paperwork again, proving I have paid. It hasn't made any difference in the past. Look through your records carefully, I have paid this! You should have to prove I owe it. I should not have to prove myself again!

I had an Aspire credit card for I think about 2 years. It was a $500.00 credit limit, so I never got to carry a huge balance. I used it for emergencies usually as I have 2 other credit cards with much higher credit limits and I never had a problem with those cards. I charged some smaller items, always paid my bill on time or maybe one day late. They would soak me for 40-50 dollars if they got the payment a day late or even just said that the payment was late! It was a constant headache. They would call me before a payment was even due, tack on all kinds of crazy fees and the crazy fees just kept adding on. The last few months, they actually started charging me a $7 payment fee, meaning I had to pay them $7 to give them my money! That was on top of a processing fee, a cardholder fee and an interest rate that climbed every month.

On March 3, 2008, I got a tax return and wanted to pay the account in full and cancel the card because I was just done with them. I made a payment of $435.80 on 3/3/08 over the phone, directly from my checking account. I must have told the woman 5 or 6 times that I am paying this in full and I want it cancelled today. Yes, you are paid in full and your account has been cancelled. About a month later, a man (Indian) called my house saying he was from Aspire and that I owed a $7 monthly maintenance fee. I told him there was no way I owed them a dime, the account was paid off and no longer existed. I asked when this charge happened and he said it was put on my card, about a month after I cancelled it! How can you put a charge on a credit card that has been closed?

In no way is this legal. I have gotten two letters in the past 4 years saying now there was interest building and I owed them $196.00 as of the last letter, sometime early last year. I just got a call from a collection agency, saying they were collecting a debt for Aspire. I told him the whole story and didn't seem too concerned. I want this off my credit score! I don't owe them anything! They robbed me blind when I had the card and they are still trying to do that. We need a class action and I am more than willing to provide any information I can give in this matter. We need to sue, even for only our credit being restored! The activity in which Aspire conducted was criminal and this needs to be stopped. My heart goes out to all the other people that went through this horror story of a fraud-filled credit company. Thank you for your time.

I had an Aspire Visa Card approx. 10 years ago and paid them off. I am checking my credit report and come across a creditor by the name of Jefferson Capital System. When I called, I learned the account was Aspire Visa and I owed $2252.65. I was appalled because this account was paid in full. Now, I am being pushed around and cannot get an answer from Aspire Visa, Jefferson Capital or ALLW Sourcing.

A couple of months ago, I set up a 3-month automated payment plan with Aspire, but they did not process my payments. When I called, I discovered that the bank account number they were using was off by one digit. When I checked my online record, the number was correct. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that no one was available and that I need to call back the next day during EST business hours. Because of my work schedule and current lack of a cell phone, making a call during those hours are difficult. I said I would try, and the customer service rep wouldn't accept my answer. They never offered to call me back or made any effort to put me on hold to wait for the manager.

I then went online and attempted to pay off the full balance, but the payment seems to be in limbo. Apparently, they attempted to process my original payment after we spoke by phone, even though I did not give them permission to do so. They called again today to say that my payment was late, and when I told them that I had paid off the account online, which is how I usually pay, they checked and saw that I had indeed done this But they still seemed confused. Apparently, they have been processing and cancelling payments at their leisure.

My payment still has not gone through, and I was told over the phone that they would wait a week to see if my bank would allow the transaction. I've never had to wait a week for a payment to be processed in the past, and I am very suspicious of this company. Neither of the customer service people seemed to know what was going on or how to respond, but the second person seemed a little more informed.

I am extremely sorry that I ever agreed to do business with them. It's been a hassle, and their representatives seem clueless and ill-trained. Considering that the company shut off all the credit cards without warning, I wonder who am I attempting to pay and if the fees I am being charged are legal. This company and their practices need to be investigated.

I received something in the mail today, stating that my state taxes were garnished, due to a debt that I supposedly owe to Aspire Visa. They collected $460.00 from my state taxes. The problem is that they have received their pay off money in 2005, and I sent it to them with no response regarding my payment. Now, 7 years later, they are taking my state taxes, and saying that I owe them $2,313.34 dollars. This all for a card that started with a $500 limit. So all together, for this, they have already collected over $1,000.00, and still want another $2,313.34. When you call the company that advocates for them, they are rude. They say they don't know what to tell me, and then say were going to continue to collect a debt. This is not a debt that I owe!

I had a card with Aspire. I paid the entire balance with money from a tax return in April 2007. I cut up the card and didn’t think anything else about it. In September 2009 I got a letter from a collection agency saying I owed money, but they wouldn’t even tell me to whom. I eventually found out it was Aspire. I have told them several times the account was paid off and closed. I even sent copies of the check I sent to aspire. The last I spoke with anyone about this was October 2010. They stopped sending me letters but somehow this ** is on my credit report that was pulled up today when I tried getting a loan. It shows that I had correspondence with them 4 months ago! Yeah, I was in Iraq 4 months ago and surely didn’t talk to anyone from Aspire or Midland Credit. How in the heck can I even contact them when it shows their phone number as (111)111-1111?

I am very disappointed in Aspire and the Visa Card I had with them. I was in good standing and they closed my account a several years ago. I had a pretty large balance, so I have been paying off my balance every month. I have not been late. I usually pay online, but today, I tried to pay them and the website will not work. I cannot find a phone number. I signed up for paperless billing so I don't have a paper bill to get a number from.

After this scam credit card offered by Aspire Visa, I had a $75 starting limit after charges. So I spent $75 and out of the blue, they closed my account. Then for 15 months, they charged me fees totaling over $900. So $75 in actual use and now, I have over $1290 in collections. I am reporting them to every agency that will listen because this has happened to thousands of people and I don't see how they can continue to prey on people. I thought loan sharks were illegal. They did commit over 8 illegal acts while I had an account, according to credit card laws.

I am trying to deal with this situation as soon as I can before I actually get served with the papers I am being sued. So far, it is a threatening phone call by a "law firm" who they say "bought out" some overdue accounts from Aspire Visa. They claim that I borrowed money (wouldn't say how much) back in 2006. I honestly don't remember getting this card or not. However, a man claiming to be from the firm says I am going to be sued for over $2,400. He was very rude and seemed not to care about anything but getting the money. He asked me for some kind of number or case number of which I don't have. He seemed to be surprised that I didn't have this information. I haven't even gotten any statement at all, ever, and I understand Aspire Visa went bankrupt back in 2008.

I don't understand how these people can let some account go for years and all of a sudden drop a bomb like this on someone. I really need help as I can't afford any lawyer to keep this from happening even being in the dark, if I did in fact use this Aspire card. I know, even back then, that my credit rating was bad and for anyone to try something like this is baffling! I know for a fact that I have tried to obtain some kind of a "credit card" but have always been turned down. For ten years or so, I have tried with no avail, so where did this come from? I need help now before the thing hits the fan and I am strapped with no defense other than "I can't remember." They contacted me on 8/11/11 and today is 8/18/11, with no activity yet.

After having this card for a few years (a company that is apparently owned by the same company), salute; they contacted me to open an account with them. After both companies increased my credit line a number of times, they closed both accounts saying they were no longer in the credit card business. I am still paying on both accounts, and neither will discuss lowering the interest rate they charge.

I opened my first credit card account with this company in 2007 and was notified that they were closing all accounts due to bankruptcy in 2008. At that time I had a balance of approx. $1700. Since that time, 3 years ago, I have been paying the balance off. I was new to the entire credit card game, therefore I was only paying the minimum amount due and then eventually started paying late. Although I have no account to use, I have been paying and paying and my balance has only recently gotten below $1000.

In the past 6 months, I've paid $1050 and I still have a balance of $900. When I started paying 6 months ago, my balance was $1600. Is it just me or does this sound crazy!!! I can't afford to give this company all of my money! I have tried to negotiate a flat payment AND requested that they reduce teh APR, but everytime I ask for any type of assistance, they simply answer, this company doesn't do those types of negotiations.

I would love any guidance or help anyone can offer. I can't believe a practice like this credit card has in place can be legal. I've seen so many people with complaints against them, it seems like we should be able to pull together and sue them!!!

Aspire closed everyone's account and still charging me 29.99% interest rate and their payment website lists this: Payments are posted to your account upon receipt. We reserve the right not to increase your available credit until your payment has been processed and verified, which may take up to 5 business days.

We reserve the right not to increase your available credit? What the ** are they talking about?

My mother opened an account with Aspire and registered me as an authorized user. The card went bankrupt and the account was closed. Now there is a 29% APR and I am trying to settle the balance, but there isn't any phone number to contact them. I have sent e-mails, but have gotten no response. At this APR, I will never be able to pay this down. I need some assistance on how to move forward settling this issue as it stands it appears on my credit report and I am in the process of cleaning that up. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Payment was made to Aspire Card on time through SunTrust Bank on line, but the payment was posted nine days later and a late charge was applied. This has happened quite frequently in the past. I never had any issue with any other business about my online payment except Aspire Card. Is this another scam by Aspire? My balance is only about $530 with a minimum payment of $16. By adding a late charge of another $16, my payment for this month is $32.

From the very beginning, I have not trusted this card company. In December 2008, they advised me that Columbus Bank and Trust (and serviced by CompuCredit Corporation) was no longer sponsoring Aspire and they closed my account.

I retired in June of 2009, and my only income is Social Security and a small State Pension, so I asked James, ID: ***, if I could speak to someone regarding a "hardship" program. He stated that there was no one else he could refer me. Since the closing of my account, this "James" is the only person who ever answers the telephone. I asked him to close my online payment account, but what I have learned is when I pay by phone, I do not have to give any banking information and the bill is paid. I am very curious about this business. Now when I call the number listed above, no one answers. I wanted to work out a smaller payment plan, due to change in my income, but my contact is only automated now. I am concerned about who is getting my money.

I had an account with them. They closed it with an outstanding balance of $350. After months of making $30 payments, the balance was up to over $500. I sent a letter with a check for $300; both the letter and the check clearly state this is a settlement offer and negotiation of the $300 check constitutes their agreement to the settlement. They cashed the check but haven't closed the account.

I am trying to pay my bill on time as I do every month. Aspire CC has set the dates on their calendar to 12-10-10 as the first time I can make my payment. My payment is due on the 6th of every month. I do not want to pay their late fees nor do I want them reporting me to the credit bureau as being late. I am worried that they will do both, charge me late fees and report me. I have excellent credit. I have tried to call them and there is no phone number listed for them.

I called this card service and was told that I had late payments, which is not true. I pay on time every month. They closed my account and now, they keep on overcharging with fees. At this rate, I will never pay them off. Why do I have to keep on paying high interest fees when they closed my account? I would like to file a class action about their practice. Is there anyway I can do this? Somebody needs to step in and help us stop this practice.

While serving on active duty with the U.S. Army, I opened an account with Aspire visa (2000). I only used the card a few times and paid all the bills on time. In 2001, I got married to my husband who was active duty Navy and we were transferred to Italy. I continued to pay my bill every month until we thought it was paid off because I never received another account statement or bill from them.

In March of 2002, I flew home for a visit while in the States. I called Aspire to find out why I could not use the credit card in Italy. They told me that it was not authorized for overseas use and that the account had been closed anyway so I could not use it anywhere. They wanted to know if I would be paying off the balance with a check or another credit card. I explained to them that I had no idea what the balance was since I had not received a bill for them in a year. At that time, I gave them my address in Italy so that they would send me a bill and account statement and I would get it taken care of. I haven't heard from them to this day. However, I have been getting calls everyday since I moved back to the states four years ago from two different collection companies wanting me to pay them $1300 for a credit card that had a $300 limit on it and had been closed but they insist that it is still open and active.

I am a disabled veteran and do not have a job. I am tired of being harassed by these people and don't know what to do. I do not know how to contact Aspire about this matter and since it has been nine years since they closed my account. I don't have a bill, account statement or even know the account number anymore. If I still owe them money, why did they never send me a bill? I received all my other bills in a timely manner even after I moved to Italy. I need this to stop!

I also had an account with Aspire Visa and never missed my monthly payments. Then one day, I got a letter stating the account had been sold and I would be getting a new card. Upon receiving the new card from Tribute Bank (Visa), I learned the account was closed permanently. Over the past 18 months, I have paid my account on time but two months ago, they misapplied a payment and then called me regarding it.

When I agreed to have the new payment auto debited, they were supposed to credit the fee and expedited charge. Now, I see where they continue to charge me a late fee stating I am not paying the balance. I also have questioned the $9.95 maintenance fee but after finding my old credit info, I see that the fee should have stopped when the account was sold and transferred because it is a yearly fee not a maintenance fee. I plan to notify the the proper authorities and seek legal action because this card should be paid off and any balance refunded to me immediately. I urge all persons to seek an attorney and proceed with a class action lawsuit.

I opened a secured card up with Providian for $1,200.00 in 1997. About seven years or so later, my account was transferred to Aspire with. Then, I was charged $1,100.00 for the card shortly after I noticed that I had no available balance. At that time, I called Aspire and they informed me that my account had been closed. I went back and forth with them for three years about where my security deposit was--not one person even knew what a secured card was. I then told them that when they find my security deposit, they should apply it to my account and I would pay whatever late charges will be accumulated. Well, they sued me for a total of $1,900.00 because Providian decided not to inform Aspire that my card was a secured one. After 13 years, I have no record of my security deposit.

Call Center calling repeatedly and harassing for payment. Attempted to set up payment plan but rep refused, I stated that a payment would be made the first of the next three months. The rep kept stating that I needed to make the payment immediately or face consequences. Again stated that the payment would go out the first of next month and the rep kept pressuring for a payment earlier. The calls are frequent and several times a day from dawn to dusk.

My daughter attempted to speak on my behalf with my permission and rep refused to speak with her. When she asked for a supervisor, the rep said he could not get one, my daughter asked again and the rep stated that she did not have a "valid reason". Eventually, he said he would get a supervisor. When the rep returned, he stated that a supervisor was not available. She then asked for a rep in the US, he refused, repeatedly. The service rep then disconnected the call.

I have been receiving numerous phone calls from Aspire Visa regarding my mother's credit card account. My mom just got released from nursing home on May 24, 2010. I reported to Aspire in Aug. 2009 that she was in nursing home. I told them I was her power of attorney, and that she could not make any payments. They continued to call, and I would just hung up. In June 2010, I made one payment to them from my bank account hoping it would stop the calls, but they have escalated and become harassing me and my 13-year old daughter. They call the home phone and my cell phone at least 20 times a day. They give false names and they have an Indian accent.

I filed complaint to the FTC with the number 18005731039, which is number they were using. The calls stopped from that number, but now they are using 000-000-0000 to call. They call asking for me, not my mother, who has the account and I tell them they have the wrong number. The man taunts my name and says, hes not hanging up. When I do hung up, he calls back. I called the landline phone company AT&T, but they cannot block calls because she does owe the debt. My cellphone company Verizon just blocked the 18005731039 number but cannot block 000-000-0000. I'm so stressed. I cannot sleep and it's affecting my life and my daughters. What can i do? AT&T said the number is from India, but Aspire is in Atlanta, GA.

I have been trying to contact this company concerning my neighbors account. She is 90 years old and has a credit card from this company. They are claiming she has a account balance of more than $3500.00. The card she showed me has expired. I want to ask them how can she use it to charge anything when it has expired. Each month the balance keeps going up. When I tried to call and they transferred the call, I get disconnected. This has been going on for 2 months and I am fed up. This lady needs help. She is on a monthly fixed income. If anyone has the answer please contact me at my email address, so I can do what I can to help her.

These two are the same company and after Aspire lured me in with a low interest 'to help rebuild my credit' they then sent me another card that I did not request or agree to and in fact because I thought it was only an ad letter I threw it a stack and didn't open it for over a month until I got a bill for a charge on that card. Apparently, they charge an annual fee and had applied it to a card that I had neither requested, or called the number to activate the card. Because I already owed the fee and they wouldn't close the account unless I paid it, I ended up eventually using the card during a hardship and faithfully paid every month on time, even then they'd already raised my rate for no reason.

I paid on time for about two years, then I lost my job in 2008 and still made reduced payments on time for several months but they kept calling and calling anyway. I finally told them that I had nothing left to pay with, but they called me on my home phone, my cell phone and even on my husband's cell phone at least 6 times per day from each; Tribute and Aspire and from all different area codes and numbers. They were relentless. It got to the point that we stopped answering our home phone and often didn't bother to answer our cell phones either.

The worst part, my husband was already suffering from a severe depression and had gone through rehab for alcohol addiction. Then, he got laid off and these horrible phone calls just kept coming and coming and even when he didn't answer them, the sound of his cell phone ringing just drove him up the wall. Until he finally started drinking again and had a complete mental break down and had to be removed from our home by the police! He's a nice man but he just couldn't handle it on top of his other problems. He ended up so drunk and so deranged that he ended up in jail with attorney fees, lost his unemployment and is now likely to lose even more. Maybe if they wouldn't have constantly called, it wouldn't have happened. Tribute and Aspire (the same company, they lie about that) called three phones at least 6 times a day each! That's hearing our phones ring 36 times a day!

I got an Aspire Visa Card over 4 years ago due to the advertising which stated that I could rebuild my credit after a bankruptcy. I faithfully paid my bill on time over and above the minimum and paid off the balance several times.

They began to increase my limit periodically in increments of $500 until I had a limit of $2000. Suddenly about 2 years ago, I received a notice stating I would no longer be able to use my card. I then noticed months later that they had raised my interest rate to 35%!

When I called them to dispute this, they told me they had the right to raise it at any time according to my customer agreement. Feeling that I had no recourse, I continued to make payments.

I suddenly was laid off from my job in 2008 and that led to me having to foreclose on my home since my income had dipped to one third of what I was earning. I contacted Aspire and asked if I could make a settlement on the account due to financial hardship. I explained my situation and told them I needed to do this because I could no longer afford the payments.

It took two weeks before anyone contacted me and they told me, "Sorry about your financial hardships but we are not offering any settlements at this time". When I asked why, they just repeated the same statement. I pressed further and finally he said, "This is our policy".

I told him then I would no longer be able to continue paying on a card with an interest rate of 35%. The interesting thing is that they didn't return my call until the day before a payment was due. Two days after the payment was due they began calling me about my payment and for the last 6 months, I have received calls 3 to 4 times a day at all hours harassing me about my payments.

I have refused to speak to them or answer their calls. This is purely criminal to me. The company who touted themselves as helping people repair their credit now has become the predator. I refuse to let them drag me into financial slavery for the next 10 years. Someone needs to stop them!

This account has been closed for over a year and for the life of me I cannot figure out why this company can and still charges an account maintenance fee of 6.50 per month. I always pay well over minimum due but the balance seems to be going nowhere. I think it should be against the law for them to charge this as they are not maintaining anything. I am just trying to pay this off. This card is the worst I have ever dealt with and after researching, there's a lot of people with the same complaint, and oh my gosh if you're late, they jack the interest rate up to 31% and they make it very hard to make payments online.

I have spent 2 hours today trying to get to a payment screen to pay on line. They allow people to open these accounts, then close them even if there is a good payment history like mine and still collect all these fees. Please help consumers like myself. Typically, I do try to pay double of the minimum payment but it's going no where. Help! this company makes it very hard to get out from under them due to all of their over charging and the account is closed. Trying to pay online is crazy very hard to do I guess, so if you're late they jack up interest rates and a late fee. They should be put out of business, I do not mind paying my debt but this company is one of a kind!

I, like so many others, had Aspire closed my account. I was never late on payment and I still pay each month to keep my credit clean but Aspire Visa/Bank still charges me a monthly account maintenance fee. I don’t see how the consumer affairs can let this keep going on. Have you looked at the complaints that people are writing? We are saying the same thing. My wife also has one and the same thing went on but there they offer to pay 1/2 to pay off. I do owe the money. I don’t think I should be charged a monthly fee. They closed it, not I. I think that Aspire will make tons of money on people just like us.

My account has been closed now for 3 years, and every time I make a payment, they hike up my balance. Also, they are charging me $9.95 just to process a payment over the internet, when before it was free. This is crazy, and they need to do something about it. don't no one have this type of money to give them, and my balance is 300 something. I should be finish by now. I do not use the card at all. This is horrible.

They keep raising my balance account, has been closed for over a year like for example my balance was 568.00. I paid 40.00 and the next month my balance is 575.00. I'll never get it paid off at this rate. They always have more fees than what you pay. My account is not ever late or over the limit. So what can I do? Paying way more than the account balance when they decided to close everyone's accounts.

This account was closed about 2 years ago from Aspire stating that they will no longer be carrying credit cards. However, they still charge late fees to my account! Also, for 2 1/2 years, they never reported to the credit bureau and when I call to inquire, they finally reported then placed late fees. I didn't have on my account!

More than a year ago, Aspire cancel my account without any ad. After that was a nightmare, the interest rate rose up to 29.75% and still, I called several times to complain it, but without any success, like a stone wall. My credit line was $2,500.00 when they canceled the account, the balance was $1,400.00. Now, after a year, the balance is $1,092.00 when I have been paying $100 every month. I paid more than $1,400 and reduce my debt to $308.00. Also Aspire charges for every thing,. If you pay by phone, the last time I have used was $14.00, their website doesn't work for more than 6 months, don't send the bills regularly.

Aspire closed my account over a year ago. After falling behind payments and getting numerous phone calls, they offered me a plan to pay 10% of the balance with no interest as long as I paid the past due. I did that. I have paid on time and now they started to charge interest again. When I called, they said the program was for a year. Even the supervisor said there was no program to continue that. They closed the account with absolutely no explanation and I was paying up til the time they did that. I am willing to pay according to the terms they offered when they closed the account and I got behind. I don't understand the inability to continue this payment arrangement and why they are so callous. If anyone gets an offer to get a card through Aspire - Shred it. I haven't checked my credit report to see if it was negatively affected.

I had an account with Aspire and they closed my account without my knowledge The account was opened in 2004 and my interest rate was 9.9% and now it's 2010 and it is 27.50%. They still continue to submit negative information to the credit agencies as if I closed the account .When their office was the one that actually closed it

One year later I informed them that I was unemployed and I asked if they could decrease my interest rate and lower my payment. I was told in order to decrease my payment the account could not be current. Then I became unable to make the payment on time. I was then placed on a plan of $39.00 a month once I made the first payment and they started calling to harass me to bring my account current before the payment plan will take affect. This has caused my credit score to drop nearly 75% and the increase of the interest rate and the late fees makes it impossible to pay the balance off.

Aspire Visa Credit Card company has been practicing applying frivolous charges to a credit account that has been closed. They notified me that they were closing my account around the time the FTC filed a lawsuit against CompuCredit and have since then been applying offer the limit credit fees, late fees, interest and maintenance fees on a closed account. I wanted to pay the account off. But every time I receive a statement, there is always additional frivolous charges applied to scam the consumer. I would like to file a class action against them for their fraudulent credit card practices. They have also reported two accounts on my credit report causing my score to be lowered when I only had one account with them. I need help in filing a class action lawsuit against them. My credit score has been affected as a result of Aspire reporting two accounts on my credit file instead of one.

My account was closed several months ago. I had a balance on the card that I was paying down. Meanwhile, my account number was changed with out my knowledge and when I tried to pay my account online, the system asked for my account number. I was late making my payment and they put it on my credit report. I want to pay this card off in full but I want the late payment removed from my credit report. Since it was their fault. I was told no way. I told them that I will find a lawyer and put together a class action lawsuit against them.

My credit history is destroyed. In this economy, I do not need negative information on my report. This is the only negative thing on my report in over 7 years. I want to take advantage of the tax credit for buying a house and this is preventing me for getting the score I need to qualify. Especially since its a card that is closed.

Look, Aspire wants more fee now: By clicking "Make payment", you understand and agree that there is a $9.95 fee for making payments online that will be deducted directly from your checking or savings account on the date of your scheduled payment. Please be aware that you may see two transactions on your checking or savings account.

I have 11 credit cards, and by far, Aspire is the worst. If you have these cards, I am sure you know what I am saying and should write your local congress person and file a complaint. They change the agreement without notice and at any time. Additionally, they will charge you $9.95 to pay electronically. If you have any sense at all, please do not allow yourself to be taken by these two card companies. You will pay a huge cost to do business with these **.

When the account was opened, the credit was $300. Now on my credit report, they’re saying my open line credit was $2,200.00. That is not true. I tried to resolve this matter professionally, on my report the information is inaccurate, unverifiable, and incomplete. Therefore, I asked Aspire Visa to remove this from my credit file. Customer law, from my understanding, the company is no more if they close every one account. I want this matter settled in 30 days or I will notify my lawyer.

In 2005, I paid off my Aspire Visa Card via settlement. Needless to say, they were very difficult to deal with prior to this.

Now, I find on checking my credit reports that they continued to submit negative information to the credit reporting agencies and the most recent in November 2009 claiming late payments. How can I be late on a closed, paid off account? This is causing my credit rating to be lower than it should.

I have had this account with Aspire and they closed all their accounts last year. I have been making my payments online for a fee of 4.95 charged on the card, which I did not like but it was cheaper than a late charge because I had 5 days to make a payment after I received my bill and it would take 8 days to get to them. They now, as of Jan 2010 are charging my bank when I make a payment online a fee of $9.95 which was never disclosed to me and I have contacted my bank in reference to the charge. How can they get by with charging my bank a fee for making a payment on and account they closed, not just for me but for all their customers?

I went online and got the telephone number for Aspire because my daughter, who does not even live with me nor does she have the same last name, has been getting phone calls from someone asking for me, saying that I owe Aspire over $1,300.00 for a credit card that I paid off over four years ago. The amount at the time was $452.00--that's with over limit fees when they stated that they didn't get payments on the date owed and the reason I cancelled it.

And when I paid them the amount owed at that time, I have not heard anymore from them since. Until my daughter called me stating that she had been called at her number and that the man calling was rude. When I asked her if he left a number to call, she said no and that it came up on her caller ID as "unknown name/unknown number."

When finding the number of Aspire online, I called and was asked to give them my 16 digit account number which I do not even know anymore or my 9 digit Social Security number. After giving them my SS number, they came back by saying that they have no record of an account. How can I keep them from bothering my daughter or me regarding this?

It's upsetting to my daughter who does not give out her phone number to just anyone and to me as to how they got her number and used it to try and reach me--and that the man was downright rude regarding her response that she wasn't me and not to call her house again. I know that there have been numerous complaints about Aspire's practices and that I am not the only one who has cancelled their account with them only to still have them harass them.

I have been with Aspire Visa for some time now. My payments have never been late. Aspire closed my account for no reason. When I called, they told me they were closing every body's account, that it didn't have anything to do with me; it's everyone that has a Aspire Card. My payments has never been late; I've paid extra when I could.

I called them to see if I can just pay off the card without paying all of that interest fees they keep tacking onto the card; they told me I had to pay it. I asked them why are they still adding on interest and putting on all of those other payments fees when I'm not using the card. The only thing she can say is I have to pay it, because when I use my other cards, I have to pay interest. I told her yes but I am able to use that card; this card I can't use it, plus I asked her if I could speak to her manager. She said there isn't anything they can do. My question is why do we have to continue to pay all of this extra stuff when we are not using this card?

This company is ripping off people and I agree with one of the other people that has sent in a compliment; they say they want to help people build up their Credit but they are putting us in the hole. I want to pay off this card but I don't feel it's right for me to pay all of the other fees they keep tacking onto this card. I paid this card down to $460.00 or so in October and by the next 2 bills it was back up to almost $700.00. Can someone help us find out what we, as consumers can do to make this right. It's unfair to those of us that is trying to build our credit and no matter how much I try they are continuing to bring us and our credit down. Please someone help us settle this matter. Thank You. Since they don't want to help me or any of the other people, I'm hoping that someone would, the more I pay the more it's costing me.

I have had this card for quite sometime now. I used to pay online, but they sold this card to someone else, so I usually pay by phone every month. This card was stolen in 2007, and I never got a replacement card, but I continue to pay. In March of 2009, I had a balance of $795. In December, I have a balance of $1,800.00 which they tell me is in late fees for 6 months, and other fees.

What fees? I don't even have a card or a number to use the account. I can get no reasonable answers from the company, except you where late. I pay the Indians every month. They are instructed to call me for payment, and they do, but no one can give me a reasonable explanation for a $1,800.00 hike in fees, but I must still keep paying them. I can't afford a $1,000.00 hike in fees every six months.

I opened an Aspire card account and was paying all my payments on time, sometimes even a week or two before due date and above the amount due. Then, I received a letter informing me that they will no longer keep the account open, but I must continue making payments. I must admit I was a bit disappointed, but I continued to make my $40.00 payment (minimum $20.00). I usually pay on line and there was no fee. Now, I went on line to make my payment for this month and there is a $9.95 fee for processing my payment on line. Not to mention, they charge a monthly maintenance for an account that is no longer active with a credit line. I am requesting someone to look into this matter as I did look on line and found out that there are others out there with the same issues as mine. I went to Aspire card complaints.

I received a settlement statement from Enhanced Recovery Co. to settle a delinquent account. They received the account from Midland Funding LLC who had the account turned over to them from Aspire Visa. I was told the account was opened in Illinois in Oct. 2005. I resided in North Carolina. The account was also opened in my maiden name and I no longer used my maiden name. I used to live in Illinois, but I have not lived there for several years and was not living there at the time the account was opened. I did contact them over the phone and they stated they would stop future credit attempts. At this time, I have not heard from them but I still have been unsuccessful contacting the original creditor, Aspire Visa, to figure out how someone opened the account in my name. I am truly at a loss.

I have no idea who to call. Aspire Visa has no phone no. on the bill. I had a charge of $999.99 charged to my account. I disputed it and they denied it. I sent in paperwork 3 times. They said they did not receive it. Then they said, they did not receive it within the time frame, this was a lie. They have many late fees added to my account when I don't pay late. I send in payments 2 weeks before due date. What do I do? They have also hit my credit report with late payments. There are many charges but not justified.

On Noverber 2008 I received a lettet stating they were closing my account as of December 2008. I always made my payments on time. I was able to make my payments on line thru the Aspire Visa website with no payment fees. Then in february 2009 they started charging $11 for payments fees. I tried to make a payment online by Aspire Visa and the website to longer exist. I never recieved a mail stating they changed their address when I started making payments thru my bank. I made a payment of $200 by error and they claim they recieved the payment a day late due to the fact that they changed their address. I spoke to 2 customer service and a supervisor. The top supervisor said that he would waiver the $35 late fee and I would not have to make the payment of $74 until the end of November. It was never process. I spoke to another customer service name Priscilla and she assisted me and said that she would put me on a payment plan for 6 months and it will not include interest. My balance as of October 3 2009 was $577.83. Priscilla said that the can take $50 form my bank on November 16th and $24 on November 30th. I called to check my balance December 2, 2009 and my balance is $575.99 (only $2 difference from 2 months ago). They never waived the late fee and they charged me another $35 on top of this. Priscilla never mention that I would pay another late fee. My bill was due on December 2 and they received the money November 30 which is not considered late. As I mentioned before I was never made a payment late. Priscilla said that I would not have to pay interest for 6 months as of November 10th.

I have been a member for years and they closed my credit card along with everyone else months ago. This was my first card out of college and I felt a little sentimental about it, so i never canceled it. THEY ARE A COMPLETE RIP OFF NOW! I am not sure why this is acceptable, why we are paying a monthly maintenance fee, and why we are still paying interest. Now to pay online they charge you a very large amount back to your card, but you can set up an automatic payment program at no charge. I set it up, received a confirmation email, but nothing has been debited. It was supposed to be done on the 26th. They said that the day your payment is due is the only day it will debit. Since I didn't see the withdrwal on my checking account I checked my Aspire card statement and now it's saying I am past due and they are tacking on a late fee. This is the most unethical business practice I have ever experienced. This cannot be right. How can they cancel our cards, and do all of these things that they are doing. Didn't we just have a credit bill passed to avoid these types of things. Something needs to be done. I am contacting my attorney. This was supposed to be a card to help people build credit, not ruin them!

I had a card with Aspire Visa, paid on it forever and then got a letter from them my account was closed! They called constantly even tho I was making my payment. I finally paid it off and the very next month they sent me a statement for a monthly charge! (even tho they had closed the account) I paid the charge and sent a letter telling them I had better not get another one. So far I haven't gotten another statement.

I signed up for credit card with them. I was making payments then I fell behind. And they closed my account without notice.i didnt hear from them for two or three years and just recently i got this letter saying i owe them around $2,000 dollars plus court costs, and there going to try to garnish my wages from the job they say i work at, funny thing is they have my employer wrong including the wrong state, also right address but apparently i live in an apartment instead of a house, do these court dates actually exist ? This seems so fraudulent i dont know what to do.

According to Law offices of Spreechman and Associates Aspire visa claims that I took out a credit card back in 2005. At the time they claim I took out the card I was unemployed, pregnant and in the middle of a Bankruptcy. When I asked for the orginal application information the comment was we can't provide you with that information. I told them without proof from them that I applied for this card I was not sending them a dime. I then was served with papers from my local courthouse that I was being sued for over $1400. I decided while I investigated this I better pay something so they didn't try to garnish my wages. I was still unable to get them to provide me with any proof and every attempt I made to contact Aspire was a failure. I stopped paying the attorneys office and requested the information again and still no results and they have again taken me back to court and now have sued me for $1,672.90.

I have never missed a payment with ASPIRE Visa for 5 years and my account was closed! This has affected my credit rating/report. Now the company has changed who is handling ASPIRE accounts - it is now Compu Credit. When this happens are you obligated to continue making payments? This has ruined my credit since my account status shows closed account!!

My Aspire was closed just like others without any fault on me. Still paying my monthly payment with sky high rate of 29.99% through mail (because Aspire will charge $4.99 for internet payment). I just got a mail from them stating that my account will be transferred to CompuCredit and I still have to keep paying my balance. Does anyone know what is going on about this transfer? Thanks.

Since Aspire closed everyone's accounts, it seems they are not being honest with their account balances. I was with them for 5 years and never had a complaint. The last few months, my balance is going up instead of down. I e-mailed them last month two times about why my balance was more and refused to make the payment until they gave me an answer. I never got an answer to either inquiry but received a special notice saying I was now being charged a $39 late fee. I had never been late before. So, I went ahead and paid the $39 plus my regular payment of $36. My balance last month was $914.95. I paid $36 towards it and this month my fees were $21.33 and my balance is $921.45. Again, I have written them and told them that this time I expect an explanation and will go to an attorney and initiate a class action lawsuit if necessary. There are hundreds out there that are having the same problems as I am and I think we should not stand for it. Anyone who would like to contact me can do so at **. It is time we get answers.

I have had an account with Aspire for a few years and always made my payments on time. Last year, I was notified that my account was closed, not because of my payment history, but because of the bad economy. I have been making my monthly payments on time each and every month since then. On each statement I get, there is a "maintenance fee" of $6.95! (What exactly are they maintaining, I wonder.)

I called Aspire about this and asked them to stop charging this fee for an account that they closed. They said that they would not; they said that it was a fee that must be paid each month. Now for the last 2 months, I have tried to make a payment on their webpage and was unable to do so. Last month, they said they were having trouble with their webpage, so I made a payment over the phone. This month, I tried to make another payment and could not. I noticed on the webpage that they are now charging a $4.95 fee for online payments! They have never had this fee before.

I pulled up my transactions page and noticed that they have transferred my account. I called aspire to ask why, and they said the account was transferred to another Aspire account? I told them I could not make a payment online, and they said they were "having trouble with their webpage." This is two months in a row! I agreed to make another payment over the phone, and the operator said there was a $14.95 fee for over-the-phone payments! I gave the woman a piece on my mind, and then she agreed to waive the over-the-phone fee.

I have read a lot of the complaints on this webpage and see that I'm not the only one with Aspire issues. These people closed my account apparently because of their own issues, and now, they continue to charge a monthly "maintenance fee" and are now going to charge another fee if I pay online. This is called "milking it"! I have no problems paying for what I charged over the years, but come on, how many other charges must I pay to get this account to a zero balance and get rid of them forever!

I recently received a letter from Aspire. It says, "Hello! You will soon have a new creditor. Your closed Aspire account will be transferred from Columbus Bank and Trust Company to CompuCredit Corporation on August 22, 2009. A copy of your new privacy policy with opt out form is provided at the end of this letter." This letter goes on to say, "Important facts about your closed Aspire account" and it says I'm obligated to pay my outstanding balance in full under my existing terms. I will get a new account number. My account will remain closed to new transactions. I have no clue what is going on with Aspire. I never closed my account and I pay my bill every month and pay on time. If I can pay extra, I will, but they're saying I need to pay off my balance of approximately $800.00 right now. Are they kidding me? I have not even used that card in a very long time. I'm not sure if they even sent me a new one. The old one expired awhile ago and I wanted to pay it down anyway.

I tried for over a week to submit a payment online and it would not accept my payment. I waited another day and tried again. Nothing happened again so I emailed customer service and told them about my problem. They offered other forms of payment and to try again later because they were having technical difficulties. I tried again and nothing happened. I tried to pay over the phone but my SS number and account number could not be found.

I called customer service on the morning of my due date only to be told that their system is down and to call back in half an hour. I could try to pay again but my payment would still be assessed a late fee because payments are posted on the next business day and my payment was due on a Sunday. Had they said that this was a long-term issue, I would have put the payment in the mail a week ago and maybe my payment would have gotten there on time. I am putting it in the mail today on my due date. Who knows when it well get there.

I opened an Aspire Visa Card in 2005. In early 2007, a suspicious charge appeared on my bill. After finally speaking to an actual person, it was stated that I did not need to pay my minimum amount due at that time until the discrepancy was resolved (which is also stated on the back of each billing statement). The next month I received a bill, with a late fee and a notice that my APR had increased. I again called the company, at which time they again said that it was a mistake, etc. and that it would not happen again. Of course the discrepancy was not settled and on the following statement, I was charged another late fee, which sent me over my credit limit, which incurred another fee.

I went on for an entire year with them over this, making payments the entire time until I made a payment over their "new" website, which apparently never went though and started a whole new slew of fees. Mid 2008, I refused to keep paying and quit talking to them. I would rather pay a collections company than deal with this company again. Early this year, I started receiving calls at my unlisted number from them and they agreed to drop over $500 in charges if I set up an automatic monthly account withdrawal with them. The first withdrawal came out of my bank account and that was it. Now, I get threatening calls five times a day for failing to pay. I am at a loss. I tried to pay them.

They have harassed me, my family members and office incessantly. They have reached people at numbers that I have never even given out. My credit score is in near ruin, due to many circumstances during the past year, but this is the most ridiculous and ludicrous spot on my record.

I canceled my card at least 6 months ago and sent in the card cut in two. They keep charging me interest and over-the-limit fees. My husband died last July. I was willing to pay what I owed, which was about $500.00 at that time. But they took my money but keep charging me the $70.00 a month. I just quit paying them, because I couldn't get anyone to help me. I was willing to make payments, but it was impossible at that rate. I draw a little over $600.00 a month.

The company, even though I was regularly paying my bills on time for years, ended the credit card program and closed my account for no apparent reason. I was unable to make payments online or even find out why they terminated me. This caused late charges. They did nothing to transfer my account to another card. I do not like paying fees to a company that treated my business so shabbily. I was unable to use my card for traveling and other needs, as they seemed to deny my card every time I used a gas station. I became behind with the payments and my credit picture became desperate.

I obtained a VISA credit card from them in 2005. My credit limit was $250. When I lost my job, I was unable to pay the monthly payments; however, when I got back on my feet, I contacted them to try to make payment arrangements and get control of the account. At that time, I was told that I needed to pay the entire balance which had mounted to over $700 because they were adding over the limit fees and late fees monthly. They refused to work with me stating that my account was being turned over to a collection agency.

The account is now being collected on by Midland Credit Management but they are refusing to work with me on a payment that I can afford. My account balance now exceeds $1575.00 because each month, I continue to incur the undisclosed fees for over the limit and late payments. I cannot pay this amount of money. I cannot afford it. I have tried without any success to get this account taken care of but the collection agency calls my home in the early morning hours, late evenings and calls me at work insulting me, discrediting me, insulting me, demeaning me, and threatening me. They will stop at nothing. They are driving me crazy. I am constantly harassed and told that I am a deadbeat. I have contacted Aspire a number of times to try to enter into a payment arrangement that I can afford. They yell at me. I need help in resolving this matter. I need someone to intervene and assist me in getting these excessive fees reduced and a reasonable payment arrangement. They are ruining my credit and refuse to work with me. Please help!

I attempted to make my July payment to Aspire online. It would not go through. I have been making my payments this way for the past 5 years, even though there is a $4.95 charge for making online payment due to the fact I have been out of the country for the past 3 years. I contacted the company and told them of my problem and that it was the only way I could make my payment. The reply was that there were other options available to me. Again, I explained to them my situation and again, I received the same reply. This went on two more times with the same results. I wrote a lengthy e-mail explaining my situation in detail. The reply I received now was that the system to process payments is down and would be fixed shortly. It has now been over a week and the system is still down and my payment is due on the 11th. It is totally frustrating that I am willing to make a payment but the company is unwilling to help out but is still telling me that if I don't make a payment, I will get charged a late fee. I have googled this company and was amazed at all the complaints against them. Thank you for taking time to read my complaint.

Aspire Visa said I opened an account #** with them in 1999 and used it until 2007. I stopped paying. They sent it to a collections company. I still didn't know Aspire Visa or Midland Funding LLC. I felt it was all a scam after they kept calling and demanding payments, saying I had been paying but then stopped. I had never paid them because I didn't even know who they were. They got nasty on the phone, I got nasty. They called at my husband’s job, so he got nasty also. The attorney named above had me come to court. I had no defense to show that I didn't open, use, pay or know of this company, the attorney didn't either. But they did have a typed history of the account and sent me a history also. I had to pay $4,153.72 to a company I never heard of before that time.

Aspire Visa allowed my mother-in-law to open an account in my name somehow in 1999. She charged lots, returned lots, got cash back, cash advances, catalog ordering, went over limit, paid and was charged NSF fees paid even less, until she stopped in 2007. Aspire now sent me statements. I treated it like a scam. Then calls started early and late, even on my husband’s job! I asked for anything with a signature or bank account # P.O Box. All I got was ** up credit and nasty phone calls that pushed me to use some choice words.

In 2003, I had an Aspire Visa. I had trouble contacting this company. There wasn't a toll-free number or a number on the bill, so when I found the bill was wrong, I couldn't contact them to straighten it out. I found a number, but I couldn't understand what they were saying or they would not answer. I always got a tape recording. After 6 months, I gave up. Now after 5 years, they have contacted me and taking me to court stating that I was notified. Out the blue, they're contacting me. But the way it sounds that they contacted in 2006, no. They want 8% more annually. I originally only put about $300.00 on the account. I sent a letter and the card back in 2004 with no reply. Meanwhile, they ran up the bill to $1,166.00 with late charges or whatever they could charge me with. They are just stabbing anyway they can to get money. They are lying about when I last used this card. Abusing me and using our court system to collect money from their victims. They recently went bankrupt.

I have an account with Aspire Visa. They closed my account for no reason other than I was led to believe that they went out of business. And now, I can't get anywhere with them. I make my payments on time and now I've seen that my balance has gone up instead of down. I mailed off my payment to them instead of paying online because they jacked on a fee now to pay online. They have yet to cash my check for my last payment. They are going to ruin my credit.

I had this account for at least a couple of years without any late payments, always paying more than what was required. Approximately, eight months ago, I was informed that my account was being closed. I was informed that it was nothing I had done. I was led to believe by the customer service representative that this company was filing bankruptcy.Even though my account has been closed, I continue to receive maintenance fees in the amount of $6.50 every month. Upon calling the company to inquire about these fees, I could not get an answer. I am also not receiving monthly statements on this account nor is there any information provided on their website. I do believe this company is committing fraud against the account holders and something needs to be done about them ripping off innocent people.

I opened the credit card account in 2003 with a promised credit limit of $300. When I received the card, $179 dollars was charged for enrollment and another charge was taken out. I had a credit balance of only $75.00. I called the customer service to see what was going on and she said those where charges for membership fee and processing fee. I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I owe Aspire $1,500.

This is complete fraud and illegal business practices. I looked at my credit report and it showed that I opened the account in 2005, which isn't true and how can that balance be so high from a $75 limit? After those fees that they automatically took out? Please help! They are completely ripping me off and destroying my credit history.

I have had this credit card for about three years. About five months ago, they closed my account and was told they were going out of business. I made the final payment on time and that was it. Now, they are saying I owe them $3.54. I have tried to resolve this with them directly but keep getting the runaround. They will not re-open my account. I would pay the $3.54 because it is such a small amount but I honestly don't owe it. Also, this was a secure credit card. Shouldn't I receive my security back? I noticed there are thousands of other consumers who are complaining about this company and their stories are the same as mine. I also noticed that New York City has sued them because of their illegal practices. Why is my credit taking a hit and what do I do to resolve this issue?

In 2002 i opened an aspire visa account and when i recieved the card what was supposed to be a $300 balance was only $32. When i called to ask why I wa informed that the rest was charged as my fees for opening the account. i made timely monthly payments and still recieved threats and harrassing notices. 2 months after i recieved my card i received paperwork from a law firm regarding a class action lawsuit aainst aspire due to excessive fees which made my opening available balance less then $50. i signed the paperwork n mailed it back. i still continued to make payments and 3 weeks later received a check from law firm in the amount that id paid since mailing paperwork back with a notice that we'd won and the account was closed i didnt owe aspire anything and they were returning my payments to me. i thought thats cool.

This company is a complete joke. I got their card 10 years ago and used it casually with no problems for a while. I was always mailing in money orders for my payments. Then out-of-the-blue, they began sending me bills which I sent out a money order the SAME DAY I got the bill, but conveniently, they weren't posting the payments to my account til a week after the due date, which was 3 weeks after I mailed my payment and charging me late fees. I called them up and they would give me stupid answers as if they thought I was an idiot like "i'm sorry sir, we don't have any way to check the status of mail deliveries" or something else insulting. Then I began paying online instead only to find out that they charge you to pay them. That has got to be one of the dumbest things i've EVER heard of.

Then a few months back, I got laid off from my job, so I had no money to give them. I called them up MANY times and explained the situation, hoping for some kind of payment plan that every other company in the world has or a freeze on my account which almost all credit companies have and they're all like a bunch of foreign robots reading off of a script saying nothing more than "i'm really sorry sir, but there is nothing we can do." My account got a month past-due and I figured maybe that would show them that i'm serious. So I called up again and all they did was say "I can help you, what I can do is collect last month and this month's payments and get you current!," again, as if i'm an idiot.

I have always in the past paid my bill early and more than the minimum amount due, but in 2006 I came out of work on sick leave due to lung cancer, but with my husbands help still managed to pay my bill. That was until 7 months ago when unfortunatley my husband lost his job. I have been fighting with aspire to get my payments lowered but to no avail, they tell me that they do not have a hardship progam. This company is charging me a rate of 30.00% interest, I even asked them if they will change my due date so that I am not charged a late fee of $35.00 dollars a month they said that they could not do that. It is putting so much stress on me I do not no where to turn for help. Somebody needs to investigate the dealings of this company. It is outrageous that with the economy affecting the nation that they can act in this manner and seem to have no conscience on how they conduct business.

Uncooperative Customer Service Representative who seem to function by a script. When you make inquiries they respond robotic to the point of either hanging up on you then you got to call back. In addition, some representatives will give name/employee number while some (Nicole)will say she is not allowed to give employee number out. My complaint is managemet made the decision I am told to close my account. I have been asking for a letter indicatig the date/reason for the increase in my interst rate which is now 23.47%. I have gotten no where speaking to robotic representatives: Michelle, Nicole, Neyla and John who are foreign speaking. I am told that my interest rate has been this percentage since the year 2001 which not true. As a consumer I have a right to know why and when. I am told that they cannot send a letter or tell me the reason for the interest rate change. My account is closed ans I contunue to pay a finance charge plus I pay over the minimum. Again I would like written information on my beginning interest rate at 2001 and when and why it is now 23.47%. Aspire is uncooperative with me evert time. Your call will e transferred from representative to representative and getting no where but repeating yourself over and over again and/or your call is ending without your consent. HELP! My stress level goes up with speaking to Aspire.

I have had an account with this credit card company for 4 years, I have always paid my payments on time. Recently they closed my account without reason just stating that all accounts were being closed. I assumed it was due to the economy. I called and asked why I was still being charged an account maintnance fee, if there is no account to maintain. The man I spoke with had no answer. I am very upset as I continue to pay my payments and try to pay off my debt they are still profiting $6.50 per month in account maintnance fees and high interest. This should be looked into. Please help.

i have used aspire visa card for several years always paying on time and never over the credit limit.in dec,08, like thousands of other people i gota letter stating that they were closing my account because they were discontinuing my aspire visa program.they stated that it had nothing to do with me and that i was an excellent customer but all aspire visa cards were closed. everytime i called them they said the same thing-that it had nothing to do with me. since then i have been paying off my balance every month which includes a maintanance fee of over $6.00 besides finance fees.WHY SHOULD I PAY A MAINTANCE FEE EVERY MONTH NOW? i got my credit report and it says this card was closed by consumer (WHICH HURTS MY CREDIT SCORE) AND PAYMANTS NEVER LATE.

In 2006, I was preapproved for a Visa Aspire Credit Card. I was told that I would receive a $300 credit limit. When I finally reviewed the card, $150 had been taken in fees, leaving only a $150 balance. For the year of 2007, I made a small purchase and charged $150 on the card. I kept up with payments and somehow lost track and was late for no more than a week or two. The fees acquired for being late set another set of fees for exceeding my balance. On top of that, there were yearly and monthly fees for over $100. In the end, I had $800 in fees and only $150 in charges. I paid the $800 off in 2008.

I had been paying all these years over $4000 to Aspire Bank for a credit card with less credit limit. I lost my employment and they increased and charged me twice or more the original debt. I'm still paying but after reading about this bank's complaints from other consumers, I need more information about this bank.

I wrote earlier about Aspire and Tribute credits cards. In addition to the previous ongoing lies and problems I've had with this company, last month they claimed over the phone that I was on a hardship program; my payments were set at $30 per month, 0%; no more late or over the limit fees for 12 months. I made the payment as agreed. The next one is due in 10 days, but they are already calling me several times per day threatening me. When I returned the call this morning to ask why I was getting these calls and threats when I was already on a program, the guy (Bruce **) told me that didn't matter; they were moving forward to collect anyway. Then when I tried to ask why and mentioned Tribute cards, he started shouting at me and then hung up on me.

Does anyone know if any lawsuits are filed against Aspire Visa? If so, please contact me to put my name on the list. My wife and I both have an account. We received our letters of accounts closing. I don't mind paying for what I owe; I just think the monthly fees and interest should stop since the card is no longer any good. We pay maintenance fees for a card that has no activity. We got the cards to hopefully help build our credit back up but instead hurt it even more. Please send me information on any suits or anything I can get my name on for this fraud.

I closed my account several years ago after Aspire added fraudulent charges to my card. Shortly after I closed the account, the interest rate was raised. I have been paying on this closed account for 4 years now but I can no longer afford the minimum payments. I sent a customer service email asking for a lower interest rate so I can afford the minimum payments. The response was, "too bad." The company's policy does not allow lowering of interest rates. I did not apply for the card; it was sent to me by the bank. Was I ever sorry I foolishly accepted the card! I understand banks can charge any interest rate they want, but it is foolish to refuse to lower the rate when someone can no longer make the minimum payment. Why has this bank been allowed to continue on in this scummy, sorry manner? There must be some fine point of law that can be raised in defense of the thousands of people who innocently fell into Aspire's greedy trap?

They closed my account without notice and now they are continuing to overcharge on the payments. This is not right. There are over thousands of other customers with these complaints. Why do we have to pay for a bill that is no longer in business and still overcharging you? I have never been late with my payments. This company should be sued for fraud. How do I go about doing this? Please let me know as soon as possible. I don't want to continue paying this company knowing I will never pay them off. This not fair to me or other consumers with this company. The Attorney General should look into this matter or FDIC. My bill never goes down, only up. This month, it jumped from $5,640.68 to $5,666.18; the finance charge is $125.73. This is an outrage on their part. I hope you go to the Aspire cards and read what others have written about this matter. Please help.

I believe the year was 1999 and/or 2000 when Aspire Visa sent out a credit card offer to me. Upon activation, you must transfer your monies from your checking account. I did just that, then just after a month, these unexplainable fees started mounting and I cancelled. My monies were used on this cc only not averaging sixty dollars for the month that I had the card and now they are suing me for $890.

In March, I sent payment for $27. I missed payment by $2. I have received new bill stating owe $2 plus regular payment comes to $30 due on April 14. I have been receiving phone calls every day at least one or more every day. I told them I would send full payment of $30 on due date. I'm still getting calls every day. Sometimes, when I pick up phone, only music plays. I went to call back on number they used to call and it said it is disconnected or no longer in service.

After Aspire Visa closed my account just like others with no reasons, I'm still paying more than the minimum payment each month with 29.99% finance rate. Is this fair? US Government is working hard to save the bankers and other big companies. How about us, the taxpayers? Where is FTC and other agencies? Do they ever read or heard how taxpayers are being treated by Aspire Visa?

I received a phone call from a man with a heavy accent, that kept insisting I should accept a credit card from Aspire. Finally I told him, Send me a letter if you like, so I can look at the offer, because I cannot understand you. A few days later, I received a letter from Aspire. It laid unopened for several days or possibly weeks. When I opened it, there was a credit card enclosed - much to my surprise. Shortly afterward, I was laid off from work, and I called in to activate the card, which had a decent interest rate, then I used it. About six weeks later, I got a bill and didn't look at the interest rate, I just made the payment. Then I got another card in the mail, which I did NOT apply for and it was from; Tribute. They had all my information, but I did NOT give it to them! Due to the hardship I was having, I did use the cards however. But when I finally looked at the rates, they had been increased to 28.9% interest, plus they claimed twice, that they had not received my mailed payment on time - even when I sent the payments 10-12 days in advance. They did not take the late payment fees off, but to stop that from happening again, I began to pay by phone, which cost me $14.99 each time - billed to my credit card. They've lied and said they are not the same company, but when I asked them why do they have the same phone number and address, they hang up. I was laid off again last August and tried to set up a 'reduced' payment plan on the phone, but no matter what they tell me on the phone; send $30 a month and get 0%, and no late or over the limit fees (caused by THEIR charges to start with), the billing never reflects what they promise! They've asked me to send $978 as a 'one time matched deduction from the charges...but they said it had to be recieved by them on the following day and the only way that could happen is if I paid the $978 by phone right then...I did NOT, because they've never kept their word before and I figured they were just trying to get $978 out of me and would likely never match the payment...They are still lying and not cashing the checks I'm mailing to them. I have other credit card companies who have made 'hardship' programs available to me and I'm sending them payments at the same time as I mail to Aspire and they are being received and cashed...Aspire seems to be holding the checks on purpose???

So I received a credit card offer from Aspire in 2005. To my surprise, i was issued a credit line of $1500--for a credit card I had never applied for. I was a college student at the time and figured this card would come in handy. The joke was on me. Oh, yeah, after a few months my credit line increased, my APR increased, and my minimum payment fee had increased as well. After paying off most of MY debt, I left the card alone. Stopped using it, I kept on receiving notices of all these new fees. Considering they were not accrues by me, I didn't pay those charges. Current balance due exceeds $3,000.00

I received an unsolicited card in the mail from Aspire. Who knows what the limit was because I never activated the card.

This card sat in a drawer in its original mailing envelope for months. One day I receive a bill in the mail saying that purchases have been made on the card and the amount due was hundreds of dollars from some online clothing store. I called to dispute the charges and was met with what I think to be heavy resistance. I was told that I must file a dispute for the charges that were made on a card that was never activated and therefore should be unusable, correct? Now during the investigation I was told that we had to make the payments in order to not be reported to the credit agency, threat? I was told that the dispute forms had to be mailed to me, not e-mailed, not faxed, and only mailed. Aspire told me that this would take a week, try three months after repeated calls to the company. One day after receiving the paperwork I faxed the completed forms to the dispute department, only to receive a letter the following week stating that I have gone beyond the 60 day time limit to submit a dispute. I would consider this to be the credit companys problem; however they try to make it seem as my problem. This sounds like a scam to me. This whole process started in July of 08 it is now March of 09, nine months later. The customer service is extremely unprofessional and very rude. When I asked for the address of their parent company I was told that the information that I requested was not allowed to be given to me, I was told to look it up on the internet. Heres what I found: Aspire Visa, CompuCredit Corp., TSYS, Inc., Columbus Bank & Trust Phone: 770-828-2000 245 Perimeter Center Pkwy NE, Suite 600 Atlanta, Georgia, 30346-2304 U.S.A. I needed the parent company address for use in a law suit, as you cant sue a p.o. box. After finding this information I made a call to verify that this was indeed the parent company, yes sir it was. I am in the process of filing legal paper work in small claims court for the amount I have paid them to date while they played their little game. You as a U.S. citizen have the right to bring these corporations to court to prove that you owe them. Trust me I would like to see what proof they could possibly bring, I want to see copies of the SIGNED application and agreement paper work. Hint.. there is none. I also want to see where, when, and how these purchases were made on an un-activated credit card. I assume, just short of black magic and accounting fraud this will be impossible. Lets see if they show.

They charge for online payment $5.00--I don't trust them with mail, they say when i checked on it a week later it was being processed. They charge me 29.75% for what?? never late, they will not lower the interest rate. Why does congress allow them to rip the american people off. I see many people here angry.

I received notice that Aspire was closing my account due to the credit crisis and apologized for the inconvenience. I understood why since many companies are doing the same. I made my payments as I was supposed to and then received a mailing stating that if I paid more than my minimun, I would receive a 75.00 credit on my account. I decided to pay off the entire balance of 2835.40 less the 75.00 (2760.40) because I did not trust them to send me a refund check I had sent the whole amount. I sent a letter accompanying the check explaining this. They cashed the check, applied the payment to my account leaving a balance of 75.00. I gave it a few days then e-mailed them to make sure they credited the 75.00 and that I did not accrue any intrest on this balance. I did not receive a response. When I reviewed my account today, they still have not credited my 75.00 AND there is now interest applied to this balance and my balance is now showing as 127.46. There is no phone number on their website nor do I have my card anymore with their number. They have not responded to any of my e-mail inquiries. While it is a small amount, I would have just paid the 75.00 and taken a chance that they would not send me a refund check rather than be charged 52.46 which is 70% interest!!!!! My interest rate at 29% was bad enough.

Like everyone else my account was closed, I am in good standing, Recieved the pay more get more credit offer on Feb 19th, Mde the choice on the 20th to pay close to 3,000 dollars to earn 1800 in credit, Before I paid the amount due, I asked if they had recieved my Feb. payment of 140.00 and there answer was No, I asked should I stop payment on that check, since what their offer was the amount I pay to the amount they credit, I was assured that when they recieved my payment, up to 7 days later I would get a retrun on that check from them, for the 140.00. OK thought I would be settled up with them account closed and paid off in full, WELL it will take UP to 45 days for this Credit to appear the close to 3,000 dollar payment, in the mean time I now recive my monthly statement with the Balance that is to be their Credit, and me owing another 54.00 for this months payment. BUT wait a minute, I already satisfied my loan, and over paid it with 140.00 now because the CREDIT is NOT applied yet, I should have to send in another 54.00? I aggreed to their terms of pay more get more credit (to pay off balance) conformation and NOW what do we do, WE aggreed on one amount, but their saying since the credit has NOT yet been applied I am responsible for this payment, and my other 140.00 payment went to my balance, Which they recieved AFTER we confirmed the deal. HOW to I bring them to court, to the attention of the public, that here is yet another scam of Credit card companies!

Just like every other complaint out there I had an Aspire visa card and paid as agreed until I became ill and fell a little behind in payments, being that I obtained this card to re establish my credit I was a prudent and responsible consumer and called them to let them know of my situation, I told the rep on the phone that of my situation and asked to make payment arrangements. I was told that there was nothing that they could do and that I needed to pay off my entire balance or they would take me to court and sue me. I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager who told me that she would not help me because I was an irresponsible consumer and should learn to pay my bills on time! How unprofessional, I did my part to try and work something out with them and was given a major road block through their lack of professionalism and rigidity. I am glad now that I have read so many complaints of the same situations that I have not paid them any money because it sounds like those who did got taken advantage of. I am still receiving about 10+ calls per day to my home and work by Compucredit to try and collect on this account. I have read the recent lawsuit and injunction from New York and Georgia and I feel that California needs to do the same thing in filing a class action law suit. It is unfortunate that throughout the Bush administration regulatory boards were allowed to get away with not doing anything about these types of fraudulent companies. I want the negative listing removed from my credit file as well as a refund of all the fees I paid that were not earned by this company. I truly feel sorry for every other consumer who was taken advantage of by a company claiming things that they never lived up to. If there is a class action law suit that is filed I would like to be included! When I called to obtain an itemized copy of my actual charges they told me that they do not release that type of info to their consumers, yet reported insane amounts of negative debt to my credit file. how am I able to verify which charges are legit if they wont give me this information, which is my right to have as a consumer. I am nearly ready to change my home and cell phone numbers because of the constant harassment. Companies like this need to be regulated a lot more closely and should not be allowed to be in business. Atleast it was comforting to find out that they are no longer in business so that they cannot take advantage of any more consumers. I would also like to see this CompuCredit be put out of business as well since they are just as bad and deceptive as AspireVisa and since they are now trying to collect on all Aspire visas fraudulent charges.

I opened my Aspire Credit card account in 2004 and I did this so I can fix my bad credit scores. This year around Dec. 2008 I received a letter stating that the company was closing accounts. They charge outrageous annual fees that they don't tell you about and the monthly maintenance fees are outrageous and they are still charging these fees even though the account is closed. I hate I even trusted this company.

I had an account with Aspire for close to 4 years. I paid as agreed, except for 3 payments that were paid a few days late. Each renewal year, I received an increase in my line of credit. I thought everything was great and that I was being responsible, even with a few slip-ups. Well, in December 2008, I attempted to use my card to make a small purchase. My card was declined. No worries; I used my bank card instead. Well, shortly thereafter, I called the company to find out why my card was declined and the automated system informed me that I had no available credit. I know that I hadn't max'd out the card, so I dialed the extension for a live representative. The representative told me that my account had been closed at the company's request back in September/October 2008. I asked why and was given this excuse: A payment for September 2008 was received after the due date and that this action violates the terms of the agreement. I explained to the rep that I had been late before but had continue receiving credit line increases all this time. What was different now? The rep could not give me a definitive answer and passed me off to several other reps and a manager. Each stated the same thing.

I strongly believe that what is happening to millions is directly related to the NY class action lawsuit against Aspire/CompuCredit. Instead of correcting the problems within the company, they'd rather cancel accounts, get their money, and vanish without a trace. They are no longer accepting new applications, also. When you visit their website and click on the Aspire Visa Card, you'll be redirected to an application page for Tribute Mastercard. Could this be the new Aspire card?

Got a letter in December 2008 that my accunt was being closed. Called to find out tha the company is closing? Now I have a credit card with zero available credit and a balance that is still charging me monthly account maintenance fees, ridiculous interest and annual fees?

Judging the numerous other complains here, Aspire Visa has clearly been running their business based on bad practices.

I paid the full balance of my card on February 20. On Febrauary 23, I received an offer in the mail for Aspire customers, wherein if they pay off certain amounts on their accounts, they would be issued a proportional credit from Aspire as a reward. The amount I paid would have earned me almost $400 credit on the card. Because I didn't wait 3 more days until I received the offer, I lost that money. I called customer service to rectify this. I wanted my money back. I fulfilled the requirements of the offer, but had taken action too early--acting responsibly as a credit customer, and thus being punished for it. Customer service simply kept passing me around to more clueless customer service representatives, and now I have received a call from a manager who is also telling me that there is nothing they can do. Getting involved with this company at all was a waste of time and money and patience.

We also recieved a letter that they were closing our account. We paid the account off on 2/11/2009 using the online payment option. They then reversed the charge and charged a 35.00 return check charge. We called today and they said my bank account was frozen. This is a complete lie. I talked to the bank and this charge never tried coming in. We had plenty of money to cover the payment. None of my other payments online ever had any trouble going through the bank. Seems like they are trying to scam us.

I have done so good in building up my credit after a bad marriage left me with nothing but alot of bad credit and 4 children. Now I recieve a notice that I do not have anymore credit limit and to pay them off. I was first paying 9% interest on my account never late and all of a sudden my interest went up to 19.99% and charging me exuberant amounts of annual fees was killing me they know what there doing alright!!! They are taking alot of good people that are really trying to make there credit turn around for a future of cleaning up any bad scores they had. Now they are either going bankrupt or closing there banks but what do we do. I want all those charges of annual fees and the high interest credited back to me.They cannot sit here and take and take without having to be held accountable. Im out 4 or $500.00 dollars and Im still paying. What do we all do?

I had an Aspire Visa which I was faithfully paying but it seemed the more I payed the more interest charges there were and always late fees even if you payed ahead and everytime you called them you had to deal with the attitude that the employees gave you and they never did anything to fix the situation. I had requested my account o be closed and it was never closed and I specifically mailed my card back to them also. I am still getting charges showing up on my credit report through different collection agencies. I have had to change my phone number several times because they kept calling not understading that those charges aren't mine and that that account was to be closed over year ago, and they would give me the attitude and the rudeness and disrespectfulness and I would ask for supervisor and supposely never available. Now I have Midland Credit who won't provide Experian with information on when my account was opened and it says its n/a. Through the investigation process of the credit bureaus on the charges that are not mine. They are still showing as my account still being opened. They are just a big scam.

Aspire sent me a letter in September saying my card was being cancelled because I missed a payment in March. I explained that I did not miss a payment I paid late due to identity theft and in March they agreed it was okay. They were very rude and said there is nothing they could do. I have not used my card since March and I pay a little over the minimum each month, but my account is still over $3200.00 and my limit is $3000.00. How can this be if i've paid over $900.00 in the last 9 months. At this point I can't reach them as the website has no contact number and they only take e-mails and will not contact you. I have suffered major hours lost at work as well as a pay cut and am trying to do the right thing but I really don't want to keep paying when my money isn't being applied to anything. My payment was due on the 13th of this month for $94.00 I paid $50.00 on the 5th and when I logged on today it jumped to $136.00 due. I can't afford to keep paying this, what should I do?

Received a letter November 2008 that it was closing my account. No reason was given. Now I have an account with zero available credit and an outstanding balance. In November, 2008 I was charged an annual fee of $50.00. Why should I have to pay a new annual fee as well as a monthly account maintenance fee.

I am one of the many people going through the same things that others are going through with the Aspire Visa Card. I recieved a notice that my Aspire card would no longer be active. I called and spoke with a representative who informed me that the company was going out of business. Charges galore now. Also, because I was short on my last payment purely accidental...by $4.00 the collection department is now calling me daily at my employment. I have asked them to take my employment number off of their list however, they have not. I believe there is a Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, 806. harassment of Abuse (15 USC 1692d) line 5 stating that they cannot repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number. Is this not a form of harassment? What can I do to make this stop?

Aspire Visa cancelled my credit card and now i have an exorbant amount of finance charges and various other charges on an account that is closed. I have tried to call several times with absolutely no help from anyone. They were very rude and unprofessional, if a class action suit should surface about this awful company i want to be included. Something needs to be done about this company immediately. I cannot afford to keep paying these bills and keep up with everything else. I WANT A LOWER RATE ND THE ACUTAL AMOUNT DUE ON THIS CARD WITHOUT THESE EXTRA FEES.
