So, after looking at different companies for months, I chose Olive. The premium, which I thought was ridiculously high, was still ok considering the "alleged" plethora of things covered. They also advertise "Pay today, Covered tomorrow". Yeah, what a lie. So I decided to jump the gun since I'd been looking for awhile and my car was approaching 100,00 miles even though it's been worry-free from day one, had always run like a dream. Pulled the trigger, and as it turns out, 3 days later, after an hour of shuddering and jerking, my CVT left me stranded on the side of the road. Dead, no forward, no reverse, no movement. For anyone that knows, this is a death sign for a CVT, especially Nissan. Had it towed to the local dealer where the car was purchased. After their inspection and diagnostic runs, it threw the CVT failure code, along with the MIL on.
Called Olive, they sent an adjuster and when they couldn't even leave the parking lot and it stopped altogether, she said "Yep, total mechanical failure". Shop manager and adjuster reported it back to Olive who, after 2 days, said "Nope, it's preexisting. Sorry". It wasn't pre-existing, never had a day's issue from it until then. Carfax shows the car has been maintained perfectly, even had 2 CVT drain and refill services up to that point. Provided all service documentation and a video from when it started failing to shutting down altogether. Did that work? Nope. Adjusters notes say "Immediate mechanical failure". Did that matter? Nope.
They said "preexisting", meaning that it occurred from normal wear and tear. 1) if they had knowledge about Nissan's notorious issues with their CVTs up to 202, they'd know they're prone to failure due to faulty OEM design and parts. 2) If normal wear and tear constitutes preexisting, then what's the point of an after market protection plan?? ALL parts of all vehicles wear and tear, that's why we buy these plans!
I'm still going round and round with them, but short of suing, which would be a year's long process, I'm left with $7,000 to pay for a new CVT and no car. I can understand being suspicious of a claim being made a few days after it went into effect, but that's just what fate threw at me. But to counteract that, nearly 400 miles was put on the car between policy date and CVT failure. Anyone who knows a bad CVT very well knows you're not traveling 400 miles on one. Olive also claimed that no CVT will just die, they always show signs. Not true at all. If they had looked at the lawsuit against Nissan regarding this, they'd see hundreds of cases where CVTs have instantly failed and left people stranded.
Mike, one of the managers, offered no help. He didn't care. He said "If the shop can show it's a complete mechanical failure then we'll cover it". Shop manager says "The car won't move in any gear, what more can I do to show? I'm a master Nissan tech and I'm telling you the code and MIL register the date it was towed into our facility". Olive: "Sorry, we need to see something broken". Absolutely absurd.
Long story short... run, don't walk away from this company. Read their BBB reviews and look at their BBB rating. Long history of denying claims based on their definition of preexisting. Not much I can do aside from filing a BBB complaint, which I'll do now. Please folks, do NOT touch this company. You're much better off with Carshield, Endurance or Fidelity. Don't be another victim of these shady people (including QBE).

Original review: So here is my experience with Olive. You can make your own decision after reading, I purchased an extended warranty in 2021, at that time I chose to pay the full amount of 3 years. I have a 2013 Mustang. I had a few problems in 2022 and they were responsive to my claim with no problems. Now it's 2024 and my policy is up in May 1 month from this review, my check engine light came on right before my smog was due, so I took my car to a Ford dealer, it sat there for 3 days with nothing done so I took it out and went to local shop, I told them I had an extended warranty and they looked at my car along with the light on.
I also have the pass. side window not working and my heater is inop. They were hesitant to work on my car but I said, "Don't worry. I have Olive.com." So they took my car in to work on it, they did their thing and when it came time to get a approval they were told that my warranty was on hold and couldn't get approval. This was on a Monday so I call and was told the something that it was an IT problem, now I paid for their complete car care coverage with rental car and all bells and whistles, I thought, "Only a couple days. No problem." Now it has turned into 10 days without my car.
No rental and as of today they still haven't tried to resolve their IT problem with no call back from them even stating that they are working on the problem, when I call I get passed to different departments with a lot of silence from the people on the phone, my thinking is that I only have 1 month left and my account has been flagged as to not fulfill their contract with me, let me add that I called to renew my policy for another 3 years being a repeat customer and was told no. They won't do it because it's a 2013. Too old. My miles are 59000.
I talked to a manager at customer service and was told that there was not much she could do for me because it not her department that is having a problem with my account and was told to call back in a couple days. Still without my car or a rental car. So what's really going on with this company and why was my account flagged in the first place, why is it taking so long to fix their IT problem? I paid for 3 years in advance and still have 30 days before it expires or do I?

I had a decrease in my household income at that time and my coverage cancel. And my income returned back to normal and I wanted to start my coverage with olive again but, two representatives stated that I’m not allowed to add coverage on the vehicle again. They never told me about that hidden clause in the contract. Now that really sucks. I will not be telling anyone about signing up with olive.

Leah, the lady from olive, called me right away and she was really awesome. She sent everything and walked me through how to do everything. She made sure that I understood what I was getting myself into and she broke down each of their packages and what it would pertain to my car in terms of services. She let me ask questions about what was covered, so it would help me not to pick the wrong one. She answered all the questions that I had that I signed up the next day pretty much just on that conversation. We were on the phone for 45 minutes. She was very cordial in the way that she brought things up to me and she didn't make me feel stupid.
The warranty is very affordable and in the three years of the extended warranty, when I looked at it, it was the cost of what I paid once at a mechanic for my old car. And it's still not running. So that sold me because of that fact that if it's something that insurance won't cover, my extended warranty will cover. It also makes it better that I can bring my car to the dealership that I choose. When I was discussing extended warranties with my dad, he told me that there's a warranty company where you had to bring your car to a specific shop. Since I'm in a small town, it could be way out of town far away and there's no possible way that you can get it there, and they won’t cover a rental.
Aside from that, the system is all virtual, so I could use it at any time, 24 hours a day, in submitting anything that may or may not happen. And it covers the whole nation. So if I'm on a road trip and my car breaks down, they would still cover me and that is pretty cool. I can go to any place for any service, and I just submit the claim through them. I could also do it from my phone and submit it while my car's at the mechanic. And olive will cover everything. It's so hard to get on the phone with somebody that it makes it a lot easier for me to do everything at my leisure. If I can just set a reminder to do that once I get home, it'll get done because I can submit it. It's not like I'm having a time crunch on top of it.
Leah also told me to print out the policy and keep it in the car so it's handy for me, but everything will be digital as well so I wouldn't have to worry. She pretty much told me what to say to my man to let him agree to me getting it and she gave me the words. It's also nice that she didn't even bother me to leave a review. Usually, they try to do that right away. She just told me to give her a call at any time that I have any issues with anything.

I had a problem and when I called, they said I have to call during their business hours. I called when they were supposed to be open but they weren't. I see that's a pattern with them. I was not able to make the claim and I had a serious car issue. They do not keep the office hours that they say they have.

The person I talked to from Olive was very informative and personable. The price is good for the quality of the coverage. It's the same as a new car warranty with $100 deductible but at the price that they offered that, it was a bargain compared to the other warranties that I looked at.

The way olive would sign people up for their extended warranty is very easy. So, it's very user-friendly for young people, the people who are familiar with computers. But it would be troublesome for older people who prefer phone calls. Other thatn that, they showed me what is and what is not covered right in my face so I would know what I would get into. Also, they answered all my questions. They were polite and professional.

Olive.com distinguishes itself from other warranty companies by promoting its no waiting policy. In fact, OIive.com displays the trademarked phrase "Buy today, Covered Tomorrow" on its website. The day after purchasing my vehicle, I noticed a shuttering while driving on the interstate and immediately took it to AAMCO Transmission & Total Car Care. The technicians determined that the transmission was the cause and needed replacing and they filed a claim with Olive.
The following day, an Olive inspector arrived to verify the issue and recommended a transmission replacement and forwarded for approval. Two days later, I was notified that the claim was denied due to the fact that the policy was purchased one day prior. Based on that fact, the approval manager determined it was a pre-existing condition, which is excluded from coverage, and overruled the inspector's recommendation. This company is engaged in deceptive marketing and questionable business practices by penalizing customers for utilizing a feature or service that it promotes. It excludes pre-existing conditions but defines preexisting condition ambiguously as to essentially render all claims deniable.
Maybe I can help you understand why we know it was pre-existing. The vehicle had been driven 0 miles from purchasing to repair. Therefore, suggesting there was an issue and a policy purchased to cover it. Very sorry you did not purchase PRIOR to the issue. As that is what we are here for.

The car is lightly used. And it's pricey. I had to get an extended warranty. It's still under manufacturer's warranty, but having olive is a peace of mind. The minute I plugged in my email and phone number, it was quick. I got a call from a representative that went into more detail which made the decision process easier. He was very knowledgeable about the warranties. The package covers everything except for your wear and tear stuff. But the major problems are covered, which is good. olive gave me the option if I wanna do it in a year lump sum or monthly. And they said I could cancel any time. So I said, "Okay."

I called Olive, and their rates were a lot better. The process was very easy but I didn't like the deductible. It was too high. But under circumstances, if you have an engine or transmission go out, $500 deductible is not too bad. $50 a month is not much to pay to have a little bit of an insurance.

The initial onboarding of the Olive program was good. The turnaround time of getting somebody on the phone for a claim was pretty quick. But getting the claim approved was a difficult process. The claim did not get approved. Olive should provide a more detailed definition of preexisting conditions.

This company's performance is highly disappointing. Initially, they impress you with a smooth sign-up process and excellent customer service, but once you actually require their assistance, they turn their backs on you and become extremely uncooperative. I made the mistake of choosing Olive warranty based on positive reviews from others, but I should have exercised better judgment. Shockingly, I couldn't find any Google reviews or BBB ratings for the company, which raised significant red flags. The entire process of getting my car fixed turned into a major hassle. They kept my car in the shop for a frustrating two weeks, and their adjustor wasted everyone's time by conducting inspections and taking unnecessary pictures. Moreover, their customer service was abysmal, forcing me to visit two different locations just to address the issues caused by this incompetent company.
To make matters worse, even though my claim for an AC problem was approved under the supposedly comprehensive bumper-to-bumper warranty, I ended up having to pay for the repairs myself. It is outrageous that despite paying $107 every month for over a year, they failed to honor their commitment and assist with fixing my AC. This meant I had no access to my truck for two weeks, causing significant inconvenience. The way they treated me throughout this ordeal was unacceptable, and their lack of assistance when I needed it the most demonstrated their complete disregard for customer satisfaction. I strongly advise staying away from this company.
Trust me, all those positive reviews are likely either paid for or the negative ones have been conveniently deleted. It's concerning that this company is practically untraceable online, further highlighting the red flags associated with them. It would be wiser to consider alternatives or set aside $100 each month for future repairs. Consider yourself warned!

When I was looking for an extended warranty, I saw Olive online, and they had good reviews. I picked them because I didn't have to talk to a representative. There were different packages I got to choose from, so I picked the one that would be the best fit for me. The warranty I got is comparable with the other companies', and purchasing it online was quick.

I'm happy with Olive's offer. I like the policy, what it covers and the pricing. It's a cheap insurance policy. They were also very good about calling back. I had several questions and they answered them all. I asked them, "Does it limit how many miles a year?" They said it's for three years. I can drive as many miles as I want. The price stays the same for three years.

It was very easy to acquire a policy from olive. There was no hassle or anybody calling you about anything. I did it online and all I had to do was put in my information for the car, my driver's license, the VIN number, and the payment information. They said if I pay today, I was covered tomorrow. Having the warranty gives me a peace of mind that just in case anything happens, I would only have to be liable for the deductible, and they'd cover the rest. Hopefully, they go by their word and cover things that they say they'll cover.

Purchasing a plan from Olive was simple and straightforward. Took me five minutes. One thing that was helpful was there was no waiting period for the insurance to kick in. In a lot of places, it's a 30-day waiting period. Another thing was that they are part of an organization, RepairPal. It's like PayPal, although it's to repair things. There's a network of different repair shops that work with RepairPal and it was good to see that they recognize my local repair shop.

The rep from Olive was very helpful, explained everything and answered all my questions. I was looking for a complete coverage of the car and so far, I’m satisfied. You can use it the next day and I’m protected up to 85,000 miles. The payments come out automatically every month and you can cancel any time. It's not all upfront.

Olive's sales practice was completely opposite of everything else that I've looked at from either the dealership or other third party policies. It stood out as far as the terms were pretty clear on the website, and it was almost too good to be true. I'm an insurance agent, and I really wanted to look at the policy forms to really see if that was the coverages that they were talking about could be actually true. So after I read the documents and I looked at it, I showed it to one of my co-workers and then he bought one too.
The rep that I dealt with was terrific. I would hire her to go come work in our insurance agency. She didn't spend a lot of time on the claims process. But I got the dirty details of it. They send you a Visa card or some kind of a debit card, and then you give that to the shop. But I'm not really 100% clear on how the claims process works.

I just purchased the policy two weeks ago. I wanted all the systems covered as well as the AC and a couple other little things such as the transmission, engine, and electrical. So, I went with the middle-of-the-road warranty. Also, I wanted to be able to pay online and have an easy claim option. We're satisfied.
