Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing bad issues with Jaguar. I bought a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace diesel and have had nothing but problems. It's been in the shop so many times and all for different issues. It's had electrical issues, trim and body issues, fuel issues and so on. I've had it for almost 2 years and only have 9K miles because it continuously breaks down. The real issue is when it goes in to "restrictive performance" mode and will only go 25 miles per hour. It happened twice on the highway. It's very dangerous to drive. It's now been in the shop for 2 weeks and they still can't seem to get it to run correctly. I initiated a buyback and they just notified me that it "doesn't fit within their buyback parameters" because it's always had different issues. There's logic for you. I think it's time to contact an attorney and start legal action.

My 2016 F type stopped at a red light and shut off. No power to turn on hazard flashers or put car into neutral to push off the side of the road. Called for roadside assistance at 1:30 pm. First truck arrived at 3:30. Since the car cannot be put into neutral the driver told me I needed a different type of tow truck with a wheel lift. Called roadside back. Was told to wait for another truck. Each hour that passed I called to get updates and was given false info and lies.

By 7:30 PM I realized that nobody was coming to help me. I called a private tow company which I paid for. They arrived within 20 minutes and towed the car back to my house because the dealer was closed at this point. The tow driver that helped me told me that Jaguar pays so little to the AAA for pickups that they are a last priority. If you ever get stuck on a busy day they will not pick you up. If they did not lie to me I would have called for my own tow hours before. I was left in the middle of a busy highway from 1.30 PM till almost 8:00 PM by Jaguar. If you buy a car don't expect any service from these people. Warren Henry Jaguar could not care less about customer service. I will look into legal recourse for my horrible experience but my advice would be to buy a different vehicle. Terrible feeling being completely stranded. Roadside never called to see if I got picked up.

I called to speak to a supervisor and held the line for 40 min. I finally hung up. This is the first time I am complaining about a car. I have owned Cadillac, Lexus, Mercedes, Bmw and Maserati and have had good or at least reasonable service from all of them. Do not find yourself in my position. I did not drink water or use the restroom for all those hours as the police told me I had to stay with the car. Anyway I was far from a rest stop or gas station to walk to. A true nightmare.

I have owned 5 Jaguar convertibles and the 2016 F-Type Model S convertible that I leased is the finest of them all! A Nimble and superbly handing car that really "comes when you call it" and is a genuine Joy to drive. But the Nav/Entertainment system for the 2016 is grotesquely unintuitive and difficult to operate...especially when driving. (Explain why that should be, please). So, May 2018 I ordered a brand new 2019 F Type with almost exactly the same specs and waited 6 months for it to be produced hoping that Jaguar would have fixed the Nav/Entertainment system problem in the newer model and made it easier to use. But it was not to be... When the new F Type arrived in Mid-November 2018, I hurried excitedly to the dealer only to discover that the display screen in the dash turned "Bed Sheet White" in the sun when the top was down and the display became totally unreadable and unusable.

What is with Jag's engineers? Don't they test things? My disappointment is incredible after a 6 month wait. I told the dealer that "what was wrong" was that the contrast on the display screen etc. was set wrong... Certainly, just a "software" problem that was easily fixable. My dealer contacted Jaguar direct whose "solution" was completely laughable and out of touch with reality. They ONLY changed the screen component out stating that the one in the car must have been "defective". Of course, it did NOT work. Same problem... And Jaguar hasn't responded with a real "fix". So now...this rag top driver is totally without a convertible in the middle of convertible season. I'm so unhappy that Jaguar is so far out of touch with its customers.

I purchased a 2013 Jaguar XF supercharged awd in 2016 and always noticed a antifreeze smell coming out the vents; and whenever I shut off the car I get a rattle noise. After taking it getting oil change they say the noise is normal and I should check the coolant level often. Today I started my car and a very loud noise came from the engine and car shut down and wouldn't start, I had to get it towed to dealership all to find out that I need a $26000 engine replacement; wow really Jaguar...that's not supposed to happen on this expensive luxury really new vehicle. I'm now waiting for a call from them and we gonna see what's the deal outcome will be.

I have an F Pace that is two years old and have an hole in the carpet caused by a design defect. Plus now the chrome is pealing on the centre control consol. Both not covered under warranty as Jaguar are perfect and do not make mistakes and have no quality issues... Customer Services make you unwanted and Inchcape in Derby West Meadows are a shambles. Customer care goes straight out of the window. For sure I would never buy another vehicle from JLR and never endorse them. Hello, I have driven many different brand of cars and Jaguar is by far the worst. I purchased a 2014 in 2015 with only 30k miles. Still had warranty. However the day the 3 year warranty ran out the nightmares begin. I have spent more time at the Jaguar service center more than the enjoyment of the car. Very appealing and luxury to the eye but their engine components are terrible. Plan on repairing a lot of sensoring defaults, tire pressure issues, software issues, a/c issues, I can go on and on. Be prepared for a mediocre experience with their service staff and a lot of money for repairs. Mercedes will forever be the greatest. I’m going back where I belong.

My bill is presently over 2K and after nine days of being in at the dealer, it still is not fixed.

I'm a retired technical writer and lifelong car enthusiast. I happened upon this Jaguar review site while researching a mattress I want to buy, and could not prevent myself from writing a review about my Jaguar that is positive. Over 50+ years of driving I've owned mostly European brands, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo... and Jaguar. I'm on my fourth Jaguar, a 2001 XJR -- their big sedan with a supercharged V8 that when introduced in 1997 was the fastest production sedan in the world. Over the past 10 years, with a little preventive maintenance, it has been reliable, affordable to service, and a delight to drive. I intend to keep it forever.

My first Jaguar was a 1970 XK-E, purchased used and pretty beat up in 1976 when I was 26. It was a dog because Jags built at the time were under British Leyland management. BL was a nightmare corporation put together by the British government to save their car industry, but instead, due to horrific management and rebellious labor unions, it ended the British car industry for the most part. That car ate me out of house and home. But hey! I was single, in my 20s, had a good trade, and owned an E-Type. Life was good!

My other three Jags have all been XJ sedans, the biggest car Jaguar builds. In my opinion, since its introduction in 1968 to its redesign in 2011, the Jaguar XJ is to this day the most beautiful post-war sedan on the market. The car was designed in-house and constructed at their legendary Coventry plant. My 2001 model was the last steel-bodied Jaguar, from the last series of XJ models to be constructed at Jaguar's original plant.

The company's reputation for poor reliability began when under British Leyland ownership, from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s. Unlike most other fine English brands like Rover and Humber, Jaguar survived the British Leyland fiasco and build quality improved under new management. But it wasn't until Ford bought Jaguar in 1990 that the company had the resources to upgrade their plant and, crucially, hold their parts suppliers accountable when the provided substandard components. (Think of Lucas electrics, the shoddy supplier that ruined so many British cars' reputations.)

Through the 90s, Ford spent billions modernizing every aspect of Jaguar, but left the British designers and engineers in charge, keeping the car English to the core, sharing no parts with American Ford products. By the time Ford sold Jaguar to Tata in 2008, the XJ series of big sedans rivalled Lexus in build quality and customer satisfaction. Ford never got the credit they deserved for saving the Jaguar brand and instilling world-class quality throughout the line. Only enthusiasts like me were aware what a bargain Jags from the mid-90s onward were on the used market, because their old reputation for unreliability kept resale prices at rock-bottom. Tata followed Ford's lead, investing yet more billions on an entirely new line and willing to wait years for the brand to become profitable. I love the new Jaguars but can't justify selling my 17-year-old XJR to get one because the car I've owned since 2008 is just so right for me.

Mind you, the series of XJ sedans mine came from -- the X308 series built from 1997 to 2013 -- was not perfect. In their obsession with keeping the cars lightweight, Jaguar used plastic components for some of the timing gear, and for the water pump. These components were failure-prone, and when failures occurred the company replaced them under warranty with metal parts. But many XJs got away without service problems and the plastic parts failed years out of warranty, causing engine overheats and even engine failures. Many unsuspecting buyers, people who did not devote their spare time to reading car magazines, got burned by this problem with the plastic parts, and I truly sympathize. But I was not one of them because I was in the know.

Being a car buff, I joined an independent Jaguar internet forum where I learned the car's weak points from other owners. And, I had my car serviced at a non-dealer independent Jaguar specialist shop. When I bought my 2001 XJR I had it inspected by my shop, who had serviced my two previous XJs. My shop informed me the car hadn't been through an overheat, and was mechanically excellent despite it still having those failure-prone plastic components.

I bought the car for a song ($12,000 for a car whose original price pushed $90,000 and was pristine). Then I spent a couple of thousand dollars swapping the plastic bits out for the factory metal replacement parts. Since then, over my 10 years of ownership, nothing major on the car has failed. I replaced the battery before it was worn out because a weak battery is the cause of so many check engine warnings and other anomalies in modern cars. Preventive maintenance is an important part of keeping a European luxury car reliable, but you need to be a knowledgeable owner and have access to an honest specialist repair shop.

The other weakness of this series of XJ was its ZF automatic transmission. This transmission was installed in most European luxury cars of that era, from Mercedes to Volvo, and was unscrupulously promoted as being "service free" for the life of the car. That marketing fantasy was based on the transmission's fluid being synthetic, not petroleum based. But in reality, though the synthetic fluid did not break down like petroleum-based fluid is prone to, it became contaminated with metal dust that is a natural product of thousands of miles of use. At over 80 thousand miles these ZF transmission were failure prone, as the accumulated dust clogged the filters and eventually became too gummy to lubricate the moving parts. This happened not just to Jags, but to all premium Euro brands of that time using that transmission.

When my car neared 100 thousand miles I discussed my concern about having to spend $6,000 replacing the transmission with the owner of my service shop. He suggested the shop replace the synthetic fluid, taking care to remove by hand all the accumulated gunk from the torque converter and other hard-to-reach areas. It was a big job and cost me several hundred dollars. But now the car has 155 thousand miles on the clock and still shifts like new. At every oil change my shop checks the transmission fluid for contaminants and it is still sufficiently clean to lubricate the internal parts effectively. I will have the transmission cleaned out again after another 20 thousand miles or so.

On the user forum I have read reports from owners of my generation of XJ sedan with 220 thousand miles on the clock and even more, and they are still reliable daily drivers. With a knowledgeable owner willing to invest in preventive maintenance, carried out by a Jaguar specialist, owning a used Jaguar sedan can be affordable even if its owner does not have a high-paying job. I am fortunate to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, which has more Jags than any other part of America and service shops abound. If you live in a red state and don't have access to a Jag repair facility that is not part of a dealership, I recommend you don't buy a Jag. On the other hand, for a car buff in a major urban center, a used modern Jag is cheap to buy and very reliable.

Why am I so fond of this particular car? One reason is that I like the British approach to luxury: lots of wood and leather inside, and exceptional styling outside. This appeals to me far more than the sterile form-follows-function ethos of the German manufacturers. Jaguar's chief stylist through its classic years, Malcolm Sayer, was actually an aerodynamicist whose training was in the aircraft industry. For this reason, Jaguar cars from the E-Type onward and including my XJ have a "fuselage" approach to their design.

On the outside, the bottom of the car's body (the rocker panels, rear fenders, and so on) follows a curve to the car's underside rather than ending abruptly as with most cars. The overall exterior design language is dictated in large part by the car's streamlining, for better performance and fuel economy, and by its simplicity of form, free from decorative swoops and scoops. Jaguar sedans including the generation I own are low-slung, sitting four or five inches lower than German or American sedans. That's why they are so pretty. On the inside, the fuselage approach means a more snug fit than other luxury cars. Actually, if you're over six feet tall, a Mercedes might fit you better. But I'm only 5'10" and 170 lb. and the XJ fits me like a glove. My previous car, a BMW 740i, was a wonderful machine but I felt like I was sitting in a barn.

I purchased my 2001 XJR privately from the owner of a Porsche custom tuning shop. The car was his wife's. She didn't want it anymore because her friends all drove Priuses and teased her about not being environmentally aware. The owner and I had a pretty good laugh about this. Being flying averse, the owner's wife drove the car regularly between the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles to see her Prius-driving friends. As a result, the car's 80 thousand original miles were easy ones, what they call highway miles. The car was never used for commuting, which is the hardest driving there is on a car's mechanicals, and it was parked in a garage every night, protecting it from the aging effect of the intense California sun. And being a California car, it never saw snow and rarely even got rained on.

Under my ownership since 2008, I too have not had to use the car for commuting. I was self employed and worked mostly from home. And every night of my ownership, the car spent in underground parking, sheltered from the elements. Though its factory-order mica Emerald paint has lots of stone chips on the hood from all that freeway driving, after a wash and wax that deep green metallic sparkles in the sun as if the car was new. Not a bit of fade or orange peel. Inside, the wood and leather have also held up well, due to minimal exposure to the elements and application of leather conditioner to keep it from drying out.

Though I've slowed down in my later years, I've always valued the performance qualities of the cars I owned. My XJR accelerates faster than muscle cars from the 60s, and is governed to 155 mph. Its double-wishbone suspension and Bilstein shocks give it a cloud-like ride, yet it corners remarkably well for a big car. The front seats are superbly comfortable -- I've done several thousand-mile days and emerged without a sore back, not even terribly fatigued. The rear seats are a little cozy but acceptable for adults under six feet. At 70 mph the car is eerily quiet -- the is no engine noise and little wind roar, and you can barely hear the tires. Noise causes fatigue on long trips, and quietness at highway speeds is a very important aspect of a luxury car.

But the car is not perfect in its performance. Its four-wheel disc brakes are a little smaller than they should be and so the car experiences some brake fade on long mountain descents at speed. And, being supercharged, it uses a lot of gas. I get only 15 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway. But then again, the car's power makes it all the more enjoyable to drive. It's not about out-accelerating the car beside you from a stop light. I'm talking about the kind of power that enables you to easily get up to highway speed on a short freeway entrance ramp, or pass a slower car on a two-lane road with minimum exposure in the left lane. Used responsibly, power is a safety feature. And it contributes to the car's driveability: the minimal effort required to speed up, slow down, or maneuver.

And then there's the sense of occasion that comes with every Jaguar. Here in the Bay Area, BMWs, Mercs, and Audis are commonplace and go unnoticed. But everybody spots the Jaguar. Even members of the general public who know almost nothing about European cars can identify a Jaguar instantly. I couldn't guess the number of times strangers have complimented me on my car over the years. By the same token, the experience of driving the car never gets old. It's a very easy car to drive around town, with feather-light steering, excellent outward visibility, and effortless acceleration. Friends and clients are delighted at the opportunity to be passengers in a big Jaguar sedan -- usually it's the first Jag they've actually driven in. And universally they are wowed by the luxurious interior, so warm and traditional, built by craftspeople, not robots.

At age 68 I suppose I have another decade or so of driving left to me, before the guys in the white coats take me away. I'm sure that if I continue to take care of it, my XJR will see me through to my retirement from the road and go to some lucky third owner. I realize how different I am from most luxury car owners. In fact, here in the USA, most people driving luxury cars don't really own them -- they lease them for 36 months and are careful to keep the miles low to avoid surcharges. After the lease expires it's on to the next luxury car. Often, people who go from car to car like this don't bother servicing them. They know they won't have the car long enough to bear the cost of premature wear caused by, say, not bothering to change the oil or even check its level.

Car enthusiasts like me are quite the opposite, behavior-wise. We buy our cars with our hard-earned cash and keep them for a long time. If we can afford it, we own two or three cars. (I can't.) And we love our cars. We make sure they get the best care, and we don't abuse them with clumsy driving, and we make sure they're kept clean and have a safe, dry place to spend every night. I haven't bought a new car from a dealership for many years. Instead I use resources like Craigslist and buy privately from fellow car enthusiasts. It's like sharing the same religion -- there's a bond among us and we can spot a grifter at a hundred yards.

So even though my Jaguar-owning experience has been generally wonderful, I can understand how owning exactly the same car could be problematic for a non-enthusiast. Most car owners are at the mercy of car dealerships or franchise repair shops for servicing their cars, and that's an expensive route to take with an out-of-warranty Euro luxury car. The dealerships don't have the time to actually fix things -- instead they swap old parts out for new and parts for European luxury cars are very expensive.

And if you buy a Jaguar, for goodness sake keep it away from Pep Boys! It must be serviced by a trained Jaguar technician. If I did not live a convenient distance from an honest, independent Jaguar service shop, I would not own a Jaguar, The same goes for any other used European luxury sedan. Especially the German ones. All three major German brands have a dismal repair record once they are out of warranty. Modern Jaguars, believe it or not, are built to last.

No doubt this review will be an outlier, because usually the authors of product reviews on websites like this one are unhappy with their purchase and want to share their misery. From the one-star Jag reviews I've read here, I can tell many of the owners did not understand their car or appreciate it. Premature brake fade, for example, is almost always the result of riding the brake pedal with the left foot. When you see cars cruising along with their brake lights flashing, it means their drivers are dabbing the brakes without realizing it and wearing them out prematurely. Never rest your left foot on the brake pedal!

Owning a Jaguar requires a level of commitment that other cars don't. These are not disposable cars. They need to be cherished. For those of us willing to make the leap, a used mint-condition Jaguar sedan can be bought for pennies on the dollar. And if properly serviced, the car will be reliable and economical to own. If you find the right car, and the right service shop, and know the car's vulnerable aspects (something all cars share), you too could be the owner of a car you never intend to replace.

I reckon the engineers built this car so badly because they were trying to have a laugh at the stupidity of those with too much money. I have 2004 VDP XJ8. Only 150K miles. The major issue is the air suspension. It is only a matter of when you will need to spend $4K fixing it. Parts are outrageous. Many here have fuel pump as an issue. $1000 to fix. When a 10 cent switch went bad on overhead console the whole unit had to be replaced $600 part $100 labor. You can't change wiper blades like other cars. Battery has to be special silver calcium. I also have water on floor by glove box. I won't bother you with all the small issues such as coils. Transmission may be next.

There is a reason why you don't see any of these vehicles on the road anymore. I have to laugh because if stock market investors ever looked here they would never buy another Jaguar share. The powers that be don't care. The bosses are here today, take a fat check, and leave tomorrow. I hope we can stop people buying Jaguar. And I'm a Brit. Even if you are rich, why throw money away? My Jag was $85K at 2004 time value of money. Today one can find them at $4K. The depreciation and cost of upkeep will probably end up costing you $2 a mile. Imagine taking a 10 mile drive to grocery store and just throwing $20 out the window. Silly rich folk. The only plus for this vehicle is that it looks so beautiful.

I bought my Jaguar XF in the summer of 2015. I never had any issues with it, best car I've ever driven. The interior is simply stunning and very comfortable. As for the performance of the car I have only good things to say, it's fast, very stable and easy to drive. I usually don't write reviews, but today I accidentally came across the reviews others left and I felt they very unfair to Jaguar. It's a great brand.

Jaguar XF tires: I currently have my 8th and last Jaguar. Never had a problem until I made the mistake of going to Jaguar of Birmingham. I've had to replace the same tire 3 times. The gearbox failed as well causing my car to stop in the middle of traffic. It was towed to Birmingham Jag. Since that was covered under warranty, I suppose they needed to "find" something that I'd have to pay for. It left Florida with no tire problems, but I was told there was a hole in one that couldn't be patched. Ended up buying a new tire. Within 9 mos I've had to purchase 3 new tires. The last one exploded with such force it damaged the back panel of the car and blew a hole out of the steel wheelbase. I DID NOT run over anything.

I contacted Jaguar corporation since the staff at Jag Birmingham are rude, uncaring and useless. Even the manager, Lily. I wasn't offered a loaner either time. After the explosion, the car was once again towed to Birmingham. I get a call telling me I have to pay over $1300 for the damage and another tire! Jaguar Corp wasn't any help, so don't waste your time. I advised them I was driving a death trap, but they don't care. A lot of unreturned calls and emails. Do yourselves a favor and stay as far away from Jaguar. Most specifically Jaguar of Birmingham. You take it there for something under warranty, but I guarantee they will find something you'll have to pay for. Don't throw your money away and don't put yourself in a luxury death trap. If I could give them zero stars, I would. There are other luxury cars that I'm sure are safe and most likely have good customer service. #lastjagforme! #youllgetscrewed

Forgive the Rant… Public service announcement. I Purchased a certified pre-owned Jaguar XF July 2017 with 32,000 miles. When I picked it up it was raining so the next day I noticed it had road tar all along the bottom and scratches, Called my sales guy Chad and he apologized and said they are in between detail people so I told him I was getting it detailed. The detail manager called and once again apologized and asked me to submit the recent and he would reimburse me. Then we noticed a sputtering (Shaking) when the car was at an idle so I called service and was told I would get a callback. Well 2 days later no call, I called the GM Bryan… because Mercedes also called me saying my payment is 28 days late and they haven’t received payment. (It wasn’t even due when I purchased the Jag.) Of course once I called the GM then everyone called me…

Service had my car 4 days the 1st time, said they replaced the Motor mount. OK got it back. 3 days later a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust started and still sputtering, they came to pick it up, gave me a loaner and had my car almost a week, this time replaced the fuel sensor. Well it’s still sputtering, the guy who came to pick it up drove it with me and felt it, my husband felt it and my daughters so I’m not making it up… Now it’s been in service almost 2 weeks for the 3rd time. (They were closed 4 days due to Hurricane.) I got a call from Patrick (not sure who he is) today Friday and he asked what the situation was, I explained and he said he was going to check on the car. I get a call from Frank in service 30 minutes later saying that they replaced the motor Mount.

“Really? Isn’t this what you did the first time?” “Yes mam but this is the other one,” (Aren’t they a pair replace one replace the other?) so I guess all of a sudden this other one just got bad? They proceed to tell me to drive it for a couple of weeks and see how it is…. He also went on to tell me that because it is a 4 cylinder it will ride different than a 6 or 8 cylinder, I guess he thinks I’m stupid because I’m a female, The cylinder 4, 6 or 8 has nothing to do with the sputtering when it’s idling. Needless to say I’m pissed, I don’t even want the car, asked to trade it but of course I got the runaround and told they know it’s an inconvenience but it’s under warranty… (they’ve had the car more than me)… Needless to say I picked the car up for the 3rd time and it is still sputtering I feel like I’m in a race car with the big exhaust pipes when I’m at an idle.

Disgusted with Jaguar. Wish I would have kept my Mercedes AND if you’re thinking about buying a Jaguar. Think again. So far I have had 3 brand new 3 loaners price range from 45,000 to 66,000 and I wasn’t impressed with any of them but at least they didn’t sputter like mine… Oh and I still haven’t been reimbursed for the detail 2 months later after the GM, used car manager and detailed manager said I was going to be… 1st time sputtering Motor mount. 2nd time. White smoke & sputtering. Fuel sensor replaced. 3rd time replaced another motor mount. Told by service to drive it for a couple of weeks and see how it does, also that it rides rough because it is a 4 cylinder still sputters.

Jaguar of North America really doesn't give a damn about their customers, and their dealer doesn't carry many parts, so be prepared to leave your car for a few days just to get it back "not fixed". Have complained 2 times about 1 tire that keeps losing air every 3 to 5 days, have fun filling up your 1 tire that often! I own 2007 XJ Jaguar Vanden Plas Sedan, I have spent over 19k at Tampa Jaguar in service with constant attention to engine light being on and the last 3 to 4 times, I have brought it in for the same problem, and to date, the engine remains on and my spouse is taking it back this week. Service manager was aware I was tired of spending on it, and we spoke of me selling it to Tampa Jaguar since they have solely repaired it.

My spouse saw a Jeep Wrangler and began negotiations on it for trading the JAG, the Jeep was souped-up which would be odd enough for me, went to trade, arrived the Jeep no longer had the same lights, new pics on Carfax, and the manager of sales denied changes, then admitted to small lights. The problem I have is upon arriving, no one came outside to speak with me, my spouse spoke with manager told him I am outside, he totally remained inside and still refused to speak about how to get car sold, test drive Jeep, or even act as if I was a customer of Jaguar.

I have been coming there from 2012 to now, no other company ever touching the car, and we know the service team by first name. Yet, sales ignored my existence, refusing me the courtesy to honor my business, to honor the terms of the presenting Good Faith to sell the Jeep as it was originally shown, not taken down from where it was, or he could have come out, asking "what can we do to get your BUSINESS ".

I have made this complaint to someone whom called me for follow up to no avail. I have written this up and assigned case number, only for a case manager, Danny to ask me about calling to speak with General Manager, you would think 2 complaints later, General Manager for this from everyone else. Was it racially motivated? I am **, and I have seen no one present during there, or even in their showroom, and no it is not because of cost, my friends all drive top of the line and from Tampa area, I am not, but they all patronize other brands.

I wonder if it is due to the very haughty, negligent personality that one portrays to allow a customer to sweat for over an hour, while you are aware of their presence but ignoring them because you have spoken to their spouse over the phone, and what... you figure the ** woman does not deserve respect? It is my car, my sale, my deal, my spouse is aware of cars, and was helping me out. BTW, spouse is **, so that might add a racial overture to it, would he got ignored standing outside, when you expected him to trade his car today? My car was originally purchased in Jacksonville Go while I was in Germany, so transfer to Tampa few months later. Came bringing this car to this company and they have taken 19k of my money, offered to purchase it for trade, engine light still on, and I am not paying another dime.

I have been given every reason for the cause of this issue, I want the car traded or paid by this company as promised and I want Jaguar National to investigate the way these companies are really destroying their name, it stands for something, but if you have people who disrespect those who drive your brand, no matter their skin color, then you will be famous for Silver Bells, nothing more, whereas the image really should change to coincide with the sleek look of the Jag... it is a very sleek vehicle, and looks good with certain people. I am very disappointed that ownership of another has been destroyed by your local folk. Please do the right thing. Your Customer Service Case Management is horrible too, time for someone to get new people.

A true test of an organization is not what they do when things go right, it's what they do when things go wrong.

Jaguar of Ft Lauderdale and Jaguar Land Rover are definitely head and shoulders above the rest.

The team at Jaguar Fort Lauderdale including Kellen, Diane, Al and Bob ** have been phenomenal. They have gone above and beyond and far exceeded all expectations. Throughout the years they have always been stellar when it comes to taking care of me and my F-Type. (By the way, if you are into sports cars, the F-Type will eat Ferrari's and Porsche's for breakfast and not even break a sweat.)

I also need to give BIG kudos to the corporate team at Jaguar Land Rover, including Rory **. The attention they give to their clients and the effort they have put in to make sure things are right are amazing.

I cannot say enough about them, five stars is not enough.

You couldn't make this up if you tried. My car has spent 150+ days in the shop on 20+ occasions. I purchased my vehicle from Alpine Jaguar, no known as Jaguar Ft Lauderdale. My story is fully documented. When I purchased my factory certified pre-owned F-Type less than two years ago, it broke down within 2 1/2 minutes of me leaving the store. That’s right, 2 1/12 minutes later. Kellen, a very kind and understanding sales manager, was assisting me in getting the vehicle back to the store where I spent the next eight hours waiting for the technicians to repair my vehicle. As an aside, the service team at Alpine treated me with excellence and was exemplary.

Since then it has been in the shop in excess of 20+ (that's TWENTY PLUS) times for various repairs of which numerous were repetitive. One incident was so bad the engine punched through the hood (yes, you read that correctly). I am also still waiting on parts from early May of 2017 and it is now July. The car has spent over 150 days in the shop for repairs. That’s more than 5 (FIVE) months out of less than two years I have owned the vehicle. How is this acceptable? And now, the vehicle is back in the shop AGAIN for over two weeks for a transmission issue and I still do not have it back. The team knows what is wrong, but the feedback I am getting is that they are waiting on corporate to give them a fix. This is not normal. Jaguar should be embarrassed to allow this malfeasance to continue to happen to one of its customers. It is evidentially clear that this is an absolutely defective vehicle.

Jaguar has sold me a vehicle that I can very rarely drive. Jaguar has sold me a vehicle that is AN OBVIOUS SAFETY concern. I purchased a Jaguar Factory Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, not a used junker. By any and all standards it is absolutely reasonable to expect that a factory certified vehicle will NOT be in the shop in excess of five months! I am really curious as to how a judge and/or jury would see my perspective? Additionally, and more importantly, federal law protects consumer rights against defective products; the Federal Magnuson-Moss Act affords me numerous protections and affords remedies that are clearly spelled out.

The product in question, the F-Type, persists to be defective, despite over 20 attempts to repair it and has been unavailable to me for over 150 days. I have tried to work out an amicable solution with Jaguar. Their answer; "we'll give you trade in value for your car and sell you a new one." Now they say it's at a discount, but I can get that same discount from most dealers in S Florida. What kind of solution is that?!? I was hoping I didn't need to get a lawyer. I thought Jaguar would work it out with me. Obviously they are not concerned about putting their customers in what is obviously a grossly defective vehicle. I now am down the path of seeking representation. I can only speak for my experiences, but 150+ days and 20+ times in the shop - you be the judge. If you were jaguar, would you allow one of your valued customers to drive such a safety risk?

I purchased my car on the 2nd of May 2016 from Checkered Flag Jaguar of Virginia Beach, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Within my first 21 days of ownership, my vehicle would not start, beginning on 23 May 2016 at approximately 7:45 pm after my shift at work. I could not get the vehicle to start, all in control features would not work, the Jaguar symbol and dash would light up; I called my salesman to advise me on what may be the failure issue. I also advised him I could not call for assistance nor would my car start from my control assist app as I attempted to step outside of the parking garage as he directed me to do in an attempt to see if this were a signal interference.

My car was towed from the garage to Checkered Flag by Quality Assist towing at which my spouse advised Jaguar Assist not to utilize this agency as he has record of their mal-performance in the past. Jaguar Assist did not take his advice into consideration. As my vehicle was being towed, with witness of 3 US base security police on the Naval installation, the person who was towing the vehicle began to "drag" the vehicle approximately 10 feet while there were no "skids" for the back tires. This caused bare and flat spots on the tires; which was video recorded by me when I requested the tires be replaced due to the ill-preparation and skills the towing company displayed in loading my vehicle.

Upon diagnostics of my vehicle, there were no reasons found for my car to not start. Subsequently, my vehicle did not start again with each attempt x 5 attempts while I was out shopping at Greenbrier mall in Chesapeake, Va. I called my service advisor with Jaguar Checkered Flag again to have my vehicle serviced again in an attempt to find the reasons for malfunction. This time upon diagnostics, I was told "the case was never closed due to Engineers at Jaguar who were building a software specifically for my VIN # in an attempt to make it start". Per the notes they reconfigured an existing BCM with built file software on 09 June 2017.

Once again, while out of town, the car started to intermittently not start again, with each attempt up to 3 attempts before the car would start. I noticed the car continued to not start intermittently then it began to shut off on its own. The entire drive shifter would be completely rescinded into its compartment, with all electrical options still on, (radio, dashboard, etc). I brought the car back to Checkered Flag, each correspondence my service advisor on 30 Aug 2016, once again there was no apparent reason for this malfunction, no codes, nothing could be causing the issues or concerns I have been experiencing. On 21 Dec 2016, I noticed a brake pedal switch that was appearing on my dashboard "brake fault". Noticed I again could not call for assist, brought the car back into Jaguar to have it diagnosed at which this time they replaced the brake pedal switch.

Recently, I have re-opened my case with Jaguar Consumer Relations on 13 February 2017 after even greater safety concerns that arose over the previous few days while I was transporting my son to and from Chesapeake Regional Hospital ER on two separate days, both on Thursday, 09 Feb 2017, and Saturday, 11 Feb 2017. I informed Jaguar Consumer Relations that my Jaguar XF was shutting off in an idle at a traffic light while the car was running as I was bringing my son home from an ER visit late that evening as I was in an attempt to make a right hand turn at a red light on Battlefield blvd, in Chesapeake, Virginia. I gave the time of discharge and approximation with hope that these approximate times would assist in the mechanic's attempt to find the time that these occurrences are happening.

I noticed the car would not proceed as I stepped on the gas, not realizing the car was completely off, due to the fact that the stereo system would currently be playing, dash and center console would be on during the shutdown experience. I had to restart the car in mid traffic twice for the car to start, put it back in drive to proceed. This occurred again the 11th Feb 2017 as I was again leaving the hospital with my son, this time approx around 4 pm. Days previous to this incident I experienced my entire dash console where the stereo is located completely going out to an entirely black screen while the car is at approx 55-65 mph on the highway and will come back on with the Jaguar symbol, and I would have to reconnect my bluetooth and phone. This has happened coming back from Langley AFB on 64 Eastbound, and near my neighborhood on Greenbrier and Kempsville Road, in Chesapeake, Va, same instance on both occasions.

I was not prepared to bring the vehicle in that week as my son was ill. This last visit once again to Jaguar Checkered Flag, I was told it was "only an update that was why the car was cutting off". This car has been having issues since I purchased the vehicle. If it were an update, this update just came out. This logically has no impact on the car's issues last May 2016. After this previous "update", as I was on my way to work, turning into the base, I was again attempting to proceed at turning right at a light on Effingham in Portsmouth, Virginia, at 6:20 am. The vehicle once again cut off while I attempted to accelerate and other vehicles had to go around me as I attempted to re-start the car. Once again, with no warning, radio and all other electrical components were still on. A vehicle almost rear-ended my vehicle as I could not accelerate.

I immediately contacted my service advisor at 6:28 am, then again at 07:37 am, informing My service advisor of the recent aforementioned issues. It was at that time that I spoke with Jaguar Consumer Relations on Thursday, 09 March, 2017 of these concerning safety issues. This Jaguar XF has become a safety risk, cutting off in traffic while the car is on, unreliable as the car will not start intermittently even when I am out of town, and has no traces as to why these instances are continuously occurring places a safety and unreliability issue to my family and myself. I have made multiple attempts at rectifying this situation that has become increasingly concerning, and each time Jaguar Corporate has taken no concern to the safety and concern to rectify this vehicle's mal-performance and accept a request for a trade out of this vehicle, with both request denied each time I have expressed concerns regarding this vehicle.

I told them that I hope this enlightens their team at Jaguar as to the circumstances that have evolved in the course of 10 months. I truly took my time prior to purchasing a Jaguar, approx 2 years to be exact. When I purchased this vehicle, it was not my expectation that my vehicle would be unreliable, unsafe, and inconsistent, not to mention the numerous visit and inconvenience it has caused me in the last 10 months. It was also not my expectation that Jaguar would not live up to its reputation. At this point, I would hope that their team reconsiders a trade out. As I mentioned, it is my hope that they reconsider the numerous safety concerns I have regarding this XF or any XFs Jaguar has developed.

Two weeks ago I drove into the service department of the Virginia Beach Jaguar/Land Rover dealership to make an appointment to get my Bluetooth and cell phone issues resolved. I'd been having issues with not getting my cell phone to connect whenever I was in the vehicle for the past 3 months and now, I just got tired of having this issue. I purchased the F-Pace on 6/10/2016 and I really love, love, love this vehicle. While I was there trying to schedule my appointment for them to trouble the Bluetooth, the service manager Michael??? took care of me and indicated that the computer has my vehicle listed for several recall.

I then scheduled the recall appointment for today 3/15/2017 at 9 AM for them to come pick it up at my home. I confirmed with the service manager if that time would be ok with them because I had to be at another place by 10 AM that same day. On 3/14/2017 I received two customer courtesy call from the same dealership to confirm my pick up and drop off of the loaner vehicle. One of those courtesy call came from Michael of course, who was more than enthusiastic to inform me that he also believe when the vehicle is dropped off in the morning by 9 AM the person dropping off the vehicle will try and troubleshoot some elements with the Bluetooth to see if they can figure out what is wrong with it from my home and possibly give me some pointers to aid in fixing at least that problem.

I got up early and got myself together awaiting the dealership to call and inform me that the vehicle was on the way to my house on 3/15/2017. I didn't get a call from them until 9:06 AM when a young lady called to tell me they had my loaner vehicle car ready to send up to me, but right now its at the dealership and wanted to know if I was home for them to deliver it.

Yes, I was extremely irritated by this bubbly and perky young lady's statement and told her that "the vehicle should have already been here and that I've been waiting for them to show up". I requested that she confirm with me what time should the vehicle have been delivered to me. She said "by 9 AM". I asked her to "please confirm what time was her clock actually showing". She repeated "9:06 AM". In my opinion, it was only 6 minutes past my appointment time, however since the vehicle wasn't at my point of destination as yet, that meant that it would take them at a minimum another 30-40 minutes to get to me. So this conversation immediately headed in the wrong direction.

Next thing I know Michael is on the phone with me profusely apologizing for the mix up. I simply wasn't content with that especially since I not only spoke with this same gentleman less than 24 hours ago, but I also received two confirmation emails stating the same time for appointment on 3/15/2017. My feeling was simply I couldn't trust what Michael was saying or the fact that I purchased such an expensive vehicle (in cash mind you... and I've being treated like a second class customer). That's just not right. How am I suppose to actually trust what the representatives from this establishment is saying if in fact I'm left these bad taste in my mouth.

Michael tried to say to me that "Ma'am we can deliver the vehicle anywhere you need us to deliver it". I told him that at 10 AM I had a prior appointment to deliver Meals on Wheels, so I'm all over the City of Chesapeake. Which would make it difficult to lock in a hard and fast address. I was extremely upset because clearly, while I hope this doesn't happen often, I don't feel that I was either treated with the respect and regard that should be provided to customers or that Michael wasn't as honest with me from the onset when I initially made the appointment and trying to get the vehicle to me on time. Whatever it was, at this point, I'm sadden by this experience. My recalls and my Bluetooth remain unrepaired. However I did continue with my appointments for the day.

But Jaguar came to my home and tried a couple of things that didn't work but left me with another car and said all should be fixed by Monday. By the next Monday with no fix in sight I spoke with the sales Manager at Bluff City and he said "Greg, this is not suppose to happen and I give you my word. Give us a couple more days and Jaguar and this Dealership will make it right." By Wednesday morning my F-Pace was ready and not only that Jaguar Service Manager Mr. ** have been in contact with me about the vehicle and Corporate has called and provided inconvenience gift for my time spent. Which they didn't have to. I just wanted to be able to show off my New Jag like I did with my 1st Benz.

So what am I saying, some things are really unforeseen, had we known it would have happened to us we would have gone in a different direction. This vehicle offers so much more than what I received with Mercedes as far as service plan, stolen vehicle protection for free. No one was trying to sale me any other products once I purchased the F-Pace. I'm still waiting to get my refund off my Benz since it was paid for early and I purchased the extended warranty, Tire and wheel, prepaid maintenance and MBrace. Almost 6K on top of the car. Hi, I am the proud Owner of Jaguar XF. Though I have many high-end cars Jag had remained my favorite until now and I drive the vehicle and none of my driver drives this car as I reserve this for my self drive car. No doubt the car is amazing but just that will not help to own a Jaguar car and even the service matters a lot. I am glad that Tata has taken over sales and service of this premium segment but they are maintaining the service quality like the lower models itself (Tata vehicles) which I am not happy with.

I have been experiencing the very bad service from your dealers from my very first service of the vehicle. First of all you people don't have free pick up and drop services like other high-end cars but no issues but what matters is I would have taken prior appointment and taken the vehicle to drop but still I need to wait for more than half an hr which is not agreeable and when I inquired at reception instead she calling service adviser she also joined morning meeting and was left with no option but to wait for more than half an hr. Look I am a businessman and I can't afford to waste time.

Till date my vehicle has gone every time twice for same repair after service. Recently I had serviced my vehicle on 8th Nov 2016 which was run around 14,511 Kms and I remembered the adviser telling me in earlier service that the brake pads should be replaced. Based on that I insisted that brake pads be changed but the adviser told it will run another 2000 kms and told "whenever you are going on long trips you come we will check. If it's worn out we will replace."

But to my shock 500 kms later I. e, on reaching 14,950 kms (07.01.2017) I got a message saying the brake pads needs to be replaced. Luckily I didn't have to replace the sensors but I had to drop the vehicle again back to service center which is waste of my time again. And after doing this I had another shock waited. My driver when washing the car saw that one nut (which we require separate bit to open wheel for security) was missing and I had to call up service center to check on the same. They checked and replied saying "sir we had tightened the wheel nuts properly and we have checked it twice even after road test." The thing is either your people should open or mine but at my place my drivers don't even know where the bit is and nobody touches my car apart from washing so where did the nut go and how did it fall if they had tightened properly?

But however it may be I am at loss. Again I need to spend around 10 to 15 k and purchase the nuts which is waste of money. I was very happy with the car and planning to buy a Vogue but seeing the service I am planning to drop the plan and planning to go for Merc. Because of all this experience I am very disappointed and don't recommend this brand to any of my people. Look into my issue, wrt to the nuts if anything can be done to it. I would like to share my experience online to all other people as well but doing so your reputation will be spoilt which I don't want to do it anyway. With regards to the above I had even mailed the details to Jaguar but till date no response and got some acknowledgement kind but you can't call that as one.

I bought my 2016 Jaguar XJ in March of 2016. To date, it has been in the shop longer than it has been on the road (over four months). The wire harness was damaged by rodents, not surprising when I learned the wiring insulation is made of soy. A few minutes on the internet reveals that many other owners are having the same problem. The new wire harness has been on backorder for almost four months. How is that possible? A current model year vehicle has a part as common as a wire harness that is not available for over four months?

Jaguar Motors refuses to replace the vehicle under lemon law, as they claim the damage was caused by outside factors (the rodents, but no concession for the part being made of soy maybe next they'll make wiring insulation from bacon). They have also refused to make any concession of any kind. To date, they even refuse to apologize for the part not being available (anything remotely close to an apology is only patronizing... "I'm sorry YOU are frustrated," "I'm sorry YOU are not happy," as if my frustration is self-generated and they have no responsibility).

At the two-month mark, they sent what they claimed was the replacement part, but only demonstrated their incompetence as the wire harness they sent was the European version for my US vehicle. After Jaguar Motors argued with my dealership for over a week about whether it was the right part, they finally admitted to their failure and agreed to send a new part. Two months have passed since. On several occasions, they told me the part was scheduled to arrive. "It will be there Friday"... nope... "It will be there next Tuesday"... nope. This week, when I was told for the third time the part was scheduled to arrive and it didn't, I asked Jaguar Motors to provide a tracking number. When they couldn't produce one, they finally admitted the part is still being "tested" in England. Why have they boldface lied on three occasions about where they part was. "Sir, we don't have that answer, we can only tell you where the part is now."

Throughout the entire process, the Jaguar customer service department has demonstrated only one goal... resign me to my fate. There has been no effort of any kind at any point to attempt to resolve the situation faster or to make any concession of any kind. (Of course they still expect that I make my payment in full). Even requesting to speak to a supervisor in the customer service department requires an act of congress. It is their policy that you can never be connected directly to a supervisor. The supervisor reviews your case and then decides whether they feel your case is worthy of a supervisor's time.

This is the level of service I might expect if I bought a lesser vehicle but this is Jaguar XJ. This is the flagship vehicle of the brand. Should a current model year vehicle ever have to sit for four months waiting for a part? Should a vehicle have accessible parts made from food products that attract animals? Should a car brand of this stature be so blatantly apathetic to customer concerns? My hope is that many will see this review and give it strong consideration before making a purchasing decision.

I have been without my 2011 Jaguar for almost 3 weeks because it overheated and has severe engine damage. Jaguar of Honolulu is saying that it will cost me over 48K for repairs. I have had multiple issues with my car since purchasing it in Jan 2014. I've had bluetooth connection issues, fuel gauge reading empty after a fill up of gas, engine idle problems, mostly after backing into my garage but also sometime while parked with the engine running, trunk not closing, unable to lock my car, and last but not least the engine overheated and they want me to pay 48K.

I brought my car in while it was still under warranty because of the engine idle problem. It was embarrassing to have people ask me why was my car rocking back and forth like a boat. Every time I brought it in, the service department claimed that they could not reproduce the problem but it happened to me on a daily basis. They could not find anything wrong while my car was under warranty but now that it is not, they want to find everything wrong. I feel like they know that there is a engine issue and a overheating issue with their cars. They need to just come clean because this will and should destroy their reputation if they continue to deny that there is a problem.

This has been the most satisfying car I have ever owned, and I have owned quite a few high-end sedans. The car is beautiful, fast, quite and safe. I look forward to seeing it and driving it any change I get. It is a perfect size, fast and RELIABLE.

The only service or reliability issue was an initial "check engine" light, I was told that I didn't tighten the fuel cap well enough TWICE by the assessing dealer. On the third episode, after being sick of taking it to the dealer, I call Jaguar and they towed it to Portland, Oregon dealer where the problem was found to be a vapor leak near the fuel tank and was fixed. It has stayed fixed. The yearly service has been the only other trips to the dealer, and have been uneventful. Note that all service was free for 5 years with 2011 vehicles. The battery died at 2 years, and I replaced it on my own, and the soft performance tires only lasted about 18,000 miles as expected. Would I buy it again? IN A HEARTBEAT!

I have been fairly satisfied with my 2011 Jaguar XJL. I bought the car in Dallas and had it serviced for the first half of its warranty life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Moved to Austin and then had to have it serviced by the only dealer here, Jaguar of Austin. Just the normal services because there have been few problems with the car once the infamous roof popping issue was fixed. I noticed at first that I never got a loaner at this dealership. Usually a Nissan from Enterprise. Then they somehow credited my 30k service to some fellow in St. Louis and used my 45k service instead. Took me hours on the phone with Jaguar's corporate to resolve it and they never figured it out until I did. Called in March about the extended warranty. The conditions were not really explained to me but I was told there was no hurry. I had an appointment for my last service a month before my warranty expired. My car currently has a bit over 35k on it. Not a high mileage vehicle.

I get a call from my service advisor asking to postpone my service appointment. Until the day before my warranty expires. On the way into the appointment I get a call from the service advisor, which was odd, informing me they have no loaners. I stated the obvious which was that I had made this appointment long in advance but that I had never gotten a loaner at this dealership. Arrive from my appointment and had already decided to test drive a new F-PACE or Rover and trade my car in. I was called while on the test drive and told my service was no longer covered and that it was over $1000. I authorized the service and cancelled the test drive. On the way home I called Jaguar Corporate and they were good about making sure it was covered. This dealership did not lift a finger to help.

That same day I talked once again to the finance person about my extended warranty. She had my file from March on her desk. She said she would now call and try and get me an exception to get the extended warranty (which after a call or two I find is priced $2000 more for less warranty than other dealers). I never hear from her. I have called a couple times and never get her or received a callback so I call the dealership where I purchased the car and had a very helpful young man named Jason. Jason gets back to me in 2 days and tells me my extended warranty request was turned down. I called Jaguar Corporate and am waiting for their response.

The point of this little story is that the dealerships may be individually owned but they are representatives of the Jaguar corporation. A good product is only as good as the dealership. I would imagine that if I had purchased in Austin I might have gotten better service. Maybe not. I plan to lodge a formal complaint against this dealership for all irregularities and the fact that it appears they have cost me the protection of an extended warranty. My last Jaguar. At least as long as I am in the Austin area and have to deal with Jaguar of Austin.

This is a common problem. The car was eventually re-wired from bumper to bumper. It has had brakes replaced three times in 65k miles. Not one sensor told us the brakes were low, and they couldn't figure that out either. Now the dash has bubbled up and the leather is separating after 65k miles. It has been garage kept since day one, and it is probably happening from being removed for all of the warranty work. Jag will not cover it.

Problem 1: I purchased my 2011 Jag when it was about 1 1/2 years old with about 27,000 miles on it. It was supposed to be what Jaguar calls a certified vehicle which means brakes and all necessary parts were changed however at 11,000 miles the brakes were rubbing and making a lot of dust so I bought it in. They told me I needed new brakes. Had them changed with my oil change. Now 15,000 miles later again with my oil change they are saying I have to pay another 1200.00 for front and back brakes. This would mean that in less than 50,000 miles the brakes have been changed 3 times. I have been driving since I was 19. My last car lasted 10 years and I didn't have to change the brakes 3 times... Guess I should have stuck with the less expensive cars.

Problem 2: During this same visit my front driver side light was supposed to be fixed and my battery replaced because the car just cut off while running and the lights would come on but it would not start. When I picked up my car while up the street at the gas station I noticed there was a stain on my bumper which could not be washed off and the front light wasn't working. When I bought the car back they kept it for almost 2 weeks and side the light wasn't working because the wires were fried. My question to the service manager was before I was charged for a light bulb and sent away the mechanic didn't notice that or even that the light still wasn't working? Needless to say they expect me to put out more money to fix something that was supposed to be fixed.

These problems does not include the 2 other times the car was really broke and had to be put in the shop. Yesterday when I filed the complaint with the corporate office the man I spoke with told me it would be referred to a research team and that no one will follow up with me. That says to me it will just be tossed to the side and that they really Don't care about the customer or your experience once the car is sold. I truly hate Jag. It looks great but the actual product and service sucks so I am planning to get rid of it and I will never buy anything even slightly related to this brand or its parent company again.

Same week the car went in to the shop, engine vibrations, weird idling, seems it's going to shut off when I'm in reverse, XM radio was cutting out, speaker was cracked. I took it into the dealership at Newport Beach Jaguar, a few days after I bought it because the massage on driver side was making a loud noise. They replaced it and I told them about the cracked speaker but they couldn't hear it and I also complained about a rough idling with vibration and a check engine light came on. Well they, God knows what they did but supposedly they fixed it.

I picked up my car and drove it home and two days later the same problem came back check engine light and the vibration. I drove it back to Newport Beach and left it with them for 12 days. They said they changed the spark plugs as they noticed there was some leak from a compressed washer that sits around the spark plug. I said ok whatever just give me my car back already I miss it. Everything seemed normal until I took and I drove it for max 2 weeks and back again. Now a different dealership got involved and they worked on the fuel injectors saying that they looked bad, changed 4 supposedly and car picked up again. Seemed fine then

The idling issue pops up again. I take it in and asked a Jaguar lead mechanic to take in on a ride with me. He did and noticed a slight hesitation and vibration but said close to normal but let's keep it overnight and see. They did and when turned it on next day the engine light came on and the noticed what I was talking about. It's been at the dealership now for 15 days testing and bringing a field service engineer and towards a few days ago I'm starting to get hints that there is a possible engine replacement. I'm out of words after I heard that and I'm not sure how to go about this right now. I've made 2 payments on the car and the dealership had the car more than me. I'm beyond frustrated as this was my next car on the list to get and I got it and so far I have regretted the day that I made that decision.

It's been over 10 years and I have added 50k miles to it and it's been fine. I don't drive in the snow with it or the winter. It has a smooth ride and great pick up for a 4000-lb vehicle with a 240HP 6 banger. I've had to do the typical brakes and tires and battery. I do oil changes regular. A few odd out of the normal repairs I have had to do in 50k miles:

    1) One of the headlight washer things on the front fell off. Somehow a small plastic clip that secures it to the bumper broke. Found the part on ebay for $50
    2) Power antenna stopped working. Replaced with an aftermarket one and it's been fine

    3) Electronic control unit failed. The car would not start and it was an $800 repair. But hey, it's about 17 years old at this point and my wife's Toyota had the ECU fail in about 10 years and was $500 to replace. So.. not that much difference between the jag and the Toyota

One thing I have noticed. I am on my original exhaust as far as I can tell. Maybe not driving it in the winter has saved my exhaust or these stainless ones are built to last. Also, it's now 19 years old and has no creaks, rattles, or odd noises. This car is solid. It leaks no fluids and runs like a top with 130k miles on it.

The customer service at Jaguar now want the car inspected by someone else. I can only assume there is an issue and they want to dispute it. This was supposed to be our dream car and last purchase for a long time. We are now waiting for customer services to get back in touch. Why a company such as this can't paint a car properly or pick it up before the car leaves the factory beggars belief.

Purchased brand new 2013 Jaguar XJ from Heritage Jaguar in Freeport NY in Dec 2013. Scene 1: Critical oil light went on around 1500 miles and I brought it in and was told by service manager Bill "they probably forgot to fill with oil at the factory". Heritage filled with oil and sent me on my way. Scene 2: Another 1500 miles and critical oil light went on again. This time I decided to service at my local dealer Monmouth Jaguar. I showed them the service report from Heritage Jaguar, and was told that they needed to evaluate through an oil consumption test. Oil was filled and I was sent on my way. One point I would like to mention, car constantly smelled of oil burning and I reported it numerous times to both dealer and Jaguar customer service rep named Paul.

Scene 3: Another 1500 mile and critical oil light went on again and car was brought to Monmouth Jaguar and they contacted Jaguar engineers and was told to change a bunch of parts, which they did and sent me on my way. Car now has around 5K miles, as you can see we don't drive this car a lot. I did want to take the car on a 350 mile round trip and was scared that it would have a critical oil issue far from my home. I called Monmouth Jaguar and reviewed this and the continuing burning smell of oil after the so called repair was done. They offered me a loaner while they checked out the burning oil smell, on Friday Oct 3rd. On Monday Oct 6th I was called by Monmouth Jaguar and was told that Jaguar decided to replace the engine with a new one.

I was concerned, since this is virtually a new car with 5K miles and this issue started from day 1, with the devaluation of the vehicle due to the engine replacement and the look of the Carfax report with all this repair history. I e-mailed Jaguar customer service 2 times and called my Jaguar service rep Paul several times. I spoke to Paul and he too he said he will get back to me. After not hearing back I tried to call the Jaguar executive line and left 2 messages not hearing back at all. Monmouth Jaguar where the car is now, are wonderful and are trying their best to help in every way. It seems Jaguar Corporate is trying to take themselves out of the situation and leave Monmouth Jaguar to relay any decisions. Monmouth Jaguar did say that Jaguar Corporate wants to do the right thing and offered to send me a check for 1 of my monthly payments and they said they would offer me an extended warranty but could not provide the details of the additional miles and time frame.

Jaguar Corporate is hiding behind the local dealer and is not taking responsibility. This oil issue started from day 1 and I expect a new vehicle from Jaguar. When the time comes and I try to sell this vehicle I will take a tremendous loss as compared to the market conditions of the time when I go to sell the car. The real surprise of this is that they call themselves a luxury product, and I am still waiting for a response from Jaguar Corporate after many e-mails and calls. Does Jaguar have many issues with this model engine? Obviously my engine does. If this is a unique non everyday occurrence why would Jaguar not want to satisfy a customer by doing what is right and replacing the car?

I bought a used 2003 XType Jag with about 99,000 miles. Previous owner had done some work on it and recent receipts showed about $1,200 in repair. I have owned this car for almost 2 years. First thing I did was to get spare keys. Jag dealers wanted $250 each. Went to a local Jag specialist who suggested that I purchase a certain type of key fob from eBay, which I did for $20, then went back to the repair shop which he programmed 2 extra keys I purchased to work with my original key. All this for $75. Works perfectly. Not too bad to buy a peace of mind.

Local high school auto mechanic shop/class helped me change the struts which was $100 a piece for parts. No labor charge since instructor uses opportunity to show class how to repair. Rides great. One day the engine light came on and same shop/class diagnosed it was some oxygen mixture problem and also replaced O2 sensor for $75. No more check engine light. Which was great because I needed to smog the car the following month. Window washer wasn't working one day. Went line and found that nozzle breaks at tip where it is connected to the hose. So I purchased washer nozzle from eBay for $30 a pair. Had them installed, again at the school/class at no charge. Works great. Love these guys!

Engine ran very hot one Friday evening and discovered the coolant reservoir was leaking. Checked online and found out that the spout part of the reservoir hooked to tubing sometime cracks and causes leak. Applied the good 'ol JB Weld around suspected cracked plastic around the spout. Left it alone for a day, filled it with coolant and no problem since then. Safely back to work on Monday.

Once car did not start. Had to "jiggle" gear in "P" (park) and started okay. Don't know what that was all about. Happened again about 6 months later. Did the same jiggle and started again. Hoping it's nothing serious. Other than that everything works fine. I did buy two back tires to match up with the 2 front new tires that the previous owner bought. Had to change one light bulb at Auto Zone, which was about $8 but the clerk installed it for me. All in all...great car. I'm sorry to read stories about all the disappointed owners. But my Jag is a great used car, that so far is very inexpensive to maintain.

I worked it out with Jaguar to replace the car, which I paid for. The car came from the north, it had body damage, the leather seats look like they were spray painted, the sunroof still has the same problem as the old one, the car is at the dealer more than at my house. I found out later that they have told others that they have this same problem which led me to believe that they created the problem. My transmission went bad and I was told that it would be better to sell my car because it would take close to $12,000 to repair it and other problems that they say was wrong with the car. The transmission was replaced for $2,500 and has done fine. I took my key to them for programming and they told me that I needed a new one that would cost around $250.00. About 500 more miles I had a second transmission problem, but after 10000 miles later I have had no problems and I LOVE MY JAGUAR. One thing I knew for sure when I brought this car is that I was to get an Extended Warranty not just because of the type of car it is but because it's used also. Now at 88000 miles I need brakes and rotors. That's only because when I took my car in for maintenance no one told me I was close to needing brakes. I recently bought a used Jag S type from a main dealer in Birmingham, UK. I bought the car from the main dealer after having bought from previous main Jag dealer both new and used cars. As I drove the car away it became noticeable that it had mechanical issue. I tried for a solid week to have the dealer return my calls and my first call to them was on the same day of purchase. The car also had cosmetic issues not noticed at the time, including broken back light cluster, broken from grill and rust on the door sills. After a few weeks they finally agreed to repair the damage but insisted in taking the car back to their dealership some 140 miles away? Not my local same dealership network 15 miles away to repair under warranty which was agreed at point of sale.

To cut a long story short it had more problems all within 5 weeks of purchase, so in the end the dealership offered to buy the car back because it was uneconomic to repair and would go to auction and they didn't want to be associated with a bad deal for sake of the company name etc. and so I thought this was acceptable and after all I would get my cash back. As I work overseas they took this car back the day after I had left and at the time I had no car to replace this one with I had to pay the remainder of my insurance premium rather than switch my insurance over.

A week later as I was looking at the main Jag dealer website for used Jags I noticed this same car for sale at a higher price? You can imagine my anger etc.. It is obvious that they took this car back to shut me up. So after my inconvenience and payment of insurance, they could have just fixed this car? And returned it to me as it should have been instead of the subterfuge etc. I have complained to the head office and the dealership but as yet some 6 weeks later no one has bothered to return my calls which does not surprise me given the experience that I had with them initially.

Multiple problems with this vehicle. 1 - water pump went out within the first 3k miles. 2 - multiple visits to combat the radiator fluid smell. They tell me there is no leak, unsolved and 3 years later, I still smell it. 3 - when reversing from a parking spot, 25% of the time the transmission will indicate "D" status on the instrument cluster yet the "D" light at the shift knob blinks and the transmission is in neutral. Have visited multiple times because of this only to be told that "it was operator error". It is not, at all, operator error. This is a dangerous problem because if you are on a hill, reversing with the tail end downhill (and at which time you KNOW you have come to a complete stop) the car will immediately roll backward. In San Francisco, there are cars right behind you. In my case, I almost hit a Maseratti. Tried to turn it in under the lemon law but have not been successful yet. 4 - VERY POOR RESALE VALUE.

Almost a year ago, I purchased a new Jaguar F Type. LOVE THE CAR. BUT, customer service is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Let me start in the beginning. The Car was new. So new, the dealerships had limited number of models available and they simply took their allocations and "customized" what they wanted so I was presented a list of cars due in. My car was listed with all options which included "rear view back up camera". The car came in and the window sticker said the same. I took the car home and could not get the rear camera to come work. I just figured I was doing something wrong. The car is very advanced. So I took it to the dealership and after fiddling with it announced that it did not have a back up camera.

The next day I had a revised and laminated window sticker in my mail box that removed the camera and I was assured that It was a mistake and I did not pay for the camera. I was upset as everything I had read said it did have it but I figured no problem, I would simply add the camera. I even entertained thoughts that because they had made the mistake that Jaguar USA might pay for the camera or compensate me in some way. Boy was I wrong. Not only was I quickly informed (from everyone from my sales person to a Rep from JAGUAR USA) that because it was simply a clerical error and I had not paid for it, not only would they not assist me but that the camera "COULD NOT BE ADDED TO MY CAR".

It was explained to me how the car was so sophisticated that it could not be added. This has been reiterated to me each time I inquire about it and I must say it might be the single most frustrating thing about this whole ordeal. I am far from a master mechanic but I have installed back up cameras on other vehicles and I know you simply install camera, hook power to reverse activated lights and interface with radio head unit. Frustrated, I said, "Please order the camera and harness needed and I will install or find an aftermarket provider that will." That was 9 months ago. I have checked with parts on 4 occasions since then and yes, they ordered the camera but I just can't seem to get them to get me the harness required.

Next, I scheduled a visit to the service department on Jan 6th because my center air vent which goes up and down quit going up and down. I also order a new compartment (not under warranty) changing the small compartment between the seats to something I could store a little something in. It in March 1st and I have yet to be called. When I did send an email, I was assured by the service manager (Karen **) that she would see what the issue was. She emailed me and informed me my "part" was on back order. I emailed back and asked her to confirm that there were multiple parts on order and asked that she confirm exactly what was on order. I have not heard anything back. In fact, my reply emails from her email is now getting bounced back....almost like my email is blocked???

In ending, this is by far the WORST SERVICE EVER. And ironically it is the most expensive car I have ever bought. I have bought a Mercedes from Crowns sister dealership co-located with Jaguar and service was excellent. Simply stated, when paying $104K for a new car, I expect to be serviced better than when my 1978 Chevy Vega needed a starter but that 20-year-old kid got far better service than I am getting today. Jaguar should be ashamed for releasing a car they cannot support.

I have taken it to the nearest Jag dealer (Bergstrom, Appleton, WI) for an oil change and powertrain inspection. It was a very positive experience. They offered pick up and drop off services, which I used. The car was washed and cleaned, very, very well. Just spotless inside and out. I spoke to the service techs directly regarding results of the inspection and was able to make informed decisions in maintaining my Coupe. I will be taking it back there soon to have two repairs made. Also, I am taking the car elsewhere (Powers Tires in Manitowoc) to have new wheels and tires put on, along with a brake and suspension inspection.

Lastly, I have bought parts to change the navigation out for the original 3 gauge cluster that was available. The nav system cannot be updated beyond 2003, and a sports car like this should have gauges anyway. I plan to take the car to Extreme Audio in Manitowoc and ask them to do the nav-to-gauge switch out because there is much work to be done with a custom wiring harness. The car is not driven in the winter, and I intend to keep it, and keep up on its maintenance. In reviewing the car's maintenance history that was given to me upon purchase the average annual maintenance cost of this XKR has been $1500/year over 14 years. That's including about $5k that I am putting into it. And I couldn't be more pleased with it.

I own a 2006 Jaguar X-Type currently with 90,000 miles on it. I bought the car new at Rusnak Jaguar in Pasadena, CA. I used to take the car for service there but, every time I went, they always found something needed repair, not including the times that I had to take it for problems. Well, brakes on this car are a joke. I have replaced them 4 times and, each time, the rotors needed to be replaced which adds to the bill and, of course not covered by the warranty. The new battery cracked and, has had at least 3 additional batteries after that, battery cables needed to be replaced, engine mounts needed to be replaced, oil and water leaks galore, 2 new coolant reservoir, new radiator, assorted sensors, new transfer case, windshield wiper motor replaced, rear shocks had to be replaced.

Currently the car is at PepBoys because the battery light came up, the alternator was replaced not once, but three times already and the battery light continues to be on. I already paid them $600.00 to replace it. The PepBoys called their troubleshooter to diagnose the problem since they were thinking that the car computer is the one causing the problem which is a $3000.00 repair. Their master mechanic informed them that my Jaguar needed a Jaguar built alternator. Otherwise, the computer would not recognize it. BTW, I also have to replace the hood struts which cost $90.00 each but was able to find the replacements at 1/2 price. I am just afraid of what's next. I

bought this car because I wanted a Jaguar but I was not bargaining for the amount of problems this piece of garbage this car has been. I own a 2006 Ford Expedition, which I bought new, and the only thing that broke after 69,000 was the water pump which was quickly replaced for $450.00 which included the thermostat and a radiator flush.

On the following Thursday, the car broke down again - same code on dash. I contact dealer, tell them what's wrong. Car goes back into garage. Then they tell me that they are having problems reading the fault codes and that they are waiting on Jaguar sorting it out.

2 weeks later, they phone to tell me that they have found the problem and car needs 2 new fuel injectors at a price of 245 each. And that they have sent a sample of the fuel in my tank to see if it's contaminated with anything. They come back to me and say it's water in my fuel. And my tank needs to be drained. They then tell me that I have a bill of 1180 and that they will not guarantee the work that they have done on the car unless I change all the injectors and the fuel pump at the same time. I check out the internet for prices of injectors, and for official Jaguar injectors. They are only 65.

I now have a Jaguar car that I am scared to drive on the road in case it breaks down on me again. And the bill has to be paid in full before the car can leave the garage. After a car accident with our company car on the 20.6.13, the car was taken by tow truck to our smash repairer at Artarmon in Sydney NSW. The insurance assessor viewed the damage on the 25.6.13. The go ahead was issued by our Insurance company for the repairs. The parts required were ordered by the smash repairer to Jaguar Australia whose order through Trevett's in Sydney were found to be incorrect on arrival. Since then we have had many verbal conversations with customer relations from Jaguar Australia in Brisbane, but we were also told that this was not really their job.

Jaguar customer relations in Brisbane do not seem to be able to assess where the fault of the mix up in supply of the parts lies. This problem has now been going on for over 8 weeks. We were advised verbally by the Jaguar customer service representative that the parts catalog in the UK did not line up with the parts number ordered for our vehicle. We have had to hire a car since 23.6.13 as well as having to pay the payments on the damaged company vehicle. This is no reflection on the smash repairer as they have ordered the correct parts as per the part number on the damaged items on our vehicle. The repairer has been chasing this up as much as we have, but to no avail.

We have been advised, normally after many phones calls fortnightly to Jaguar customer service in Brisbane that the parts will be delivered and that they will be the right parts, all of this is verbal. We have asked for this to be put in writing but customer service said that was not possible. We are now at the 12th September 2013 and still nothing. We are waiting on a call from Jaguar customer service in Brisbane again after leaving a message this afternoon for an update. It is now 5.15 pm 12.9.13 and no return call from customer service received. This is our 4th Jaguar and if this is Jaguar's service, it will more than likely be the last. Parts for cars sold in Australia should be here in Australia and we should not be at the mercy of this company that deals with that company that deals with the main manufacturer overseas, because it is evident they just don't care either here or there!

The history of the parts is as follows from smash repair company: Parts were ordered 1.7.13; seven times were put on back order from England 2.7.13. Parts began to arrive 5.7.13. The near side front Squab was one of these items which arrive 14.8.13 but was for driver's seat. The near side front seat slide (base) arrived 21.8.13 was the wrong type. 12.9.13, still waiting? Jaguar is an excellent vehicle. Jaguar's back up service leaves much to be desired.

Before buying the XJ, I did test drive the X and S Type and left with the impression that they were entry level vehicles and were not of the same quality as the XJ and XK.

Can someone let me know if they have had the same problems regarding the power steering rack on an 2001 S-Type? After I bought the car used, 6 months later power steer rack was leaking after around 80000 miles, replaced the steering rack second hand 6 months later after another 4000 miles leaked again. So found another steering rack and had that replaced, and again I seem to have the same issue again. Found steering fluid on the drive this morning 88000 miles so would guess it gone again.

The work on the car has been carried out at a garage not done by myself. I know there are little problem you might face when buy a used car but there just always seems to be something going wrong with the S-Type. So far replaced the gearbox once, steering rack twice and header water tank once. The car has proven to a very expensive buy and if it’s the power steering again it could be bound for the scrap yard. Don't want to spend/waste any more money on it.

I usually take my car to Firestone for service because Jaguar Service is prohibitively expensive. Just as John found out, the only way to get compensation for the problem was to have the car serviced at a Jag dealership. The $250.00 coupon can't even be used to cover a portion of this repair. It's for future repairs. I have to wonder if there is anyone else out there who has received more than a $250.00 coupon?

A/C Condensation Drain Blocked & Leak into Passenger Floorboard: I found water in floorboard carpet coming from under glove box. I learned through Jaguar Forums of this problem on my 2007 Jaguar XK and that a Technical Service Bulletin was issued on it. No recall for the latent design flaw, but some users report $250 coupons being issued for repair. I learned from call on 20 June 2013 that Jaguar will only do this if one uses a Jaguar dealership for the repair. I am now in touch with attorneys to initiate a class action lawsuit against Jaguar North America, as this is a $1,000+ repair for an inexpensive rubber drain tube "duck-bill" apparatus and elbow. Completely unacceptable response, not even an apology, from Jaguar, who upon prompting suggested I could write to their "Board of Appeals." They should know that their typical clientele has resources to conduct punitive actions for such.

That is $750.00 worth of parts, not adding labor cost. I have replaced the ignition coils twice. My catalytic converter went out - this was another $1,000.00. Now my windshield wipers have stopped working. Now my car is losing power - it drops to 20 mph or less. I was told that was because of the catalytic converter, but that has been fixed, so what is it now?

These cars are just pretty. It is never worth the money in the end. I promise if you have a Jaguar, you WILL experience one or more of these problems. They seem to be common. Just go and read other post and blogs. Yes, my car is 11 years old, but the problems came early and it doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it. Oh, I forgot to mention that the transmission default light comes on whenever it feels like it!! Now it is just parked.

I purchased my 2007 brand-new Montclair JAGUAR. Six months later, it sounded like an old truck. I took it back to the dealer, and they kept it for five weeks (no parts, order parts, etc. etc.). I was about to call the news station when I finally got a call saying, "It will be ready in a day. Pick up the car," and I was told they were going out of business and were "No longer selling Jaguars, so look for another shop." Two months later, brakes (boot/bushings) need to be replaced.

Luckily, they were still in business and had to replace all with warranty. Brakes have not worked right since. I took it back several times. Finally, a year later, they did stop Jaguar dealership and were selling other cars. I called USA Jaguar and was told to go to any Jaguar shop; the car is covered until warranty expires. Went to a new dealer, who worked on the car several times. Then the warranty was about to expire, so I got one of those extended warranty. I was driving the car and it lost power transmission so bad, it needed replacement. Now I went to Bergan Jaguar 30 minutes away, and they told me it was about $2,000.00 to fix. I told them, "Fix it; you sold me the extended warranty." The guy's face almost fell to the floor. It was covered by the extended warranty, which cost me about $2,000.00, so I am breaking even.

Six months later, they were out of business, so I went to another dealership... mind you, Jaguar dealers are not in every county in NJ; they're miles and miles away in Madison, NJ. You see, I only purchased from Montclair because it was 10 minutes away, so now I am driving 1/2-hour to find a NEW dealership. Long story short, now I need an alternator (extended warranty). They said I should get a used one because the car is now five years old. I said, "Oh no, I'll call the news station, and I get a new one." NOW BRAKES ARE NO GOOD AGAIN. It is never ending with this car and the brakes. This, too, was my dream car, and it turned out to be a nightmare of a car. #Lemon

There is no reason I should have to pay out this amount when the car has 35k miles. I also had 2 2005 X-Type Jaguars and they both had leaks from the oil pain filter, which should not happen at 50k. Jaguar is much over rated - charge too much for the cars and have no sympathy when the car needs work. They stick it to you. I had much better cheaper cars and will never own another Jaguar. So if you are in the market, be wise and pick something other than a Jaguar.

I own a 2011 XF which I bought used and have had it for a year. My problems started shortly after purchase. My window on passenger side would go down but not up or would work when it wanted to. I also noticed the brakes were not smooth at all. I took it to the dealer and they said the brakes were fine. It just needs to be broken in. But while I was there, they said it was a recall on the door controls and that was the problem with the window. A few months later while at a restaurant, my battery died (so embarrassing from a high-end car). Later that week, it died again so I had it towed to dealership where they said I needed a new battery. Wow, really, so soon. The cause for the battery dying was the bracket below was loose and out of place causing the battery to corrode. Not my fault.

My main reason for complaint is last week I had to have my water pump replaced. There were no obvious leaks. The car was idling high at start and just didn't drive right. That was my concern for taking it in. Once I got there and explained to tech, I asked if he could come here, how the car starts after, which he immediately told me it was the water pump. (Mind you, this is a 2011 low miles.) Luckily for me, everything stated here was under warranty except for battery. After reading these other complaints, I am really concerned about my brakes. Apparently, this is a common problem with Jaguars. For an expensive car, my stops should be smoother.

On Friday, March 22, my wife's new Jag was at Momentum Jaguar Service Dept. in Houston. Two recall fixes were in order - fog lamp replacement (not performed) and a radio malfunction that caused it to be impossible to turn off the radio. The latter recall fix was performed with a software download and my fleet manager drove the car to my apartment parking garage and left it there on Friday afternoon, while I was away out of town with my family.

We returned late Sunday afternoon. It would be necessary for my wife to depart early the next morning (today, Monday, 25 March) at 5:30 am to travel to the State Capitol building in Austin where she works. Since she would need to depart so very early in the morning, she attempted to pack her car late Sunday afternoon. It proved impossible to open the car with the fob due to a dead battery, presumably caused by a short circuit. Momentum Jaguar Dealership being closed on Sunday, from their website I called the number to Jaguar 24-hour roadside assistance. I spent the rest of my Sunday in the parking garage waiting on one and then another roadside assistance driver, neither of which could locate the battery. The first would not try and drove away, so on my second attempt through Jaguar roadside assistance, I appealed to the operator that the next driver should be knowledgeable in starting a Jaguar convertible. Nevertheless, the second driver likewise could not. By consulting the manual, he and I were able to locate remote jump start points and provide sufficient current to operate all accessories, but not to start the engine.

So at 8:00 pm, my wife booked the earliest flight from Houston to Austin still available. By then, the earliest had sold out, so she bought a ticket on the second flight. In the morning, I drove her to the airport missing my own first appointment and fought the rush hour traffic jam back home. I still could not go to work yet since I had to meet the wrecker driver. Three hours of my workday were missed because of this junky, new Jaguar but worse, my wife, who is a state senator, may have missed votes on important state budget matters.

This new Jaguar with 8,459 miles driven has already broken down. Mysteriously, the last place the car was started was in the service department of Momentum Jaguar! While I don't yet accuse the service department of causing this breakdown - the cause is yet to be determined - at the least we know that this brand new Jaguar has already broken down. My wife had wanted a white Jaguar convertible since childhood, so I finally bought one for her after warning her of Jaguar's widespread, long-standing reputation for unreliability. Now, she has seen for herself.

Replacing lost keys - What an absolute nightmare! What a way to rip off your customers! Not only was I robbed when my purse was stolen, with my only jaguar key inside, I was given only one key at the time of purchase. Unknowingly, at that time, I was not aware how expensive replacement keys were. I was the second owner. Then I was trying to get a key when I had no key.

Jaguar dealerships were about as helpful and understanding for my situation as some zoo animals. I was told repeatedly the only way was to bring car in physically to nearest Jaguar dealership, which is 3 hours away. After all, aren’t Jaguar dealerships as common and up the road as a Ford dealership? I’m supposed to flat bed my car then pay 4$ per mile just to start. Unbelievable! Inconsiderate and unkind! Plain greedy! Surely they took into consideration all the hundreds of their customers whom like me, lose keys and now forced to pay high towing fees two-zillion miles out of the way, then stolen from twice over at the excessively high charges to replace my keys for a tiny amount of metal and plastic. Never again jaguar, you lost this customer.

The managers employed at Jaguar are so completely inept and unknowledgeable about a product they talk about and sell day in and out. They were clueless when I inquired about this marked important card they instructed us to keep in safe place, titled "security label from key transmitter". Surely marking something important and keep in safe place is an item valuable enough to really keep in a safe place for some future important reason. Surely staff were also educated about this security label key transmitter so when someone like me asked questions, Jaguars staff would have at least once seen this label we had been storing safely!

Surely, there really is a purpose, function, for this security label key transmitter with what appeared valuable enough to store with all these numbers and bars to scan. I got hopeful that maybe, since it was titled “key transmitter”, all these numbers could be scanned because of bar codes and some thoughtful genius in Jaguar corporate head should be kind enough to make a spare so that some future single sickly older woman, on a fixed budget, wouldn’t have to tow her car half way to Mars and take out a bank loan for this fraction of a fraction of piece of worthless metal and plastic.

I could have bought 2 state of the art computers, with all their gadgets and sophisticated hardware for what I am being expected to pay for this microscopic sized hunk of metal. Gold sells for less! Personally, thank you Jaguar for the added daily troubles and turmoil many sick and the fixed income customers you have. Thank you, Jaguar on a job not well done. It’s in the air! I know you feel it Jaguar. After all, you breathe the same air as the rest of us do and feel that consumers are sick and tired of being ripped off at every street corner we turn on the all possible ways corporate heads can squeeze out of themselves. Then feel so proud, pat yourselves on your backs for becoming a fortune 500 company and having millions in the banks.

Corporate greed is not something to brag about. As if, you had worked so hard and diligently at producing a product that’s really worth the $500 to $1,000 that you charge. Millions like me are sick of being ripped off by corporate heads that searched hard to find a way so that all customers must go to you and you’re completely free to now overprice. There’s nowhere else they can go and you smile, feel happy and smart about yourself for finding away to get rid of competition. All that matters to you is the bottom line. Then you tell yourself something like it is a security reason for doing all of this. I feel like I had just walked into a Wal-Mart, pushing a grocery cart, handed the cashier $500 and leaving the store with an empty cart, only a safety pin in my hand. I did not get really anything this month for my money.

We all know that those extra little added charges at the end of our bills, for such things as filing fees or maintenance fees are really for absolutely for nothing that corporations pride themselves for. Theft is theft, no matter how you take it. I am so tired of companies finding extra ways to profit for nothing by taking advantage of the disadvantaged. We are all sick of it! We know what you’re doing. We all see what is really going on. The fact remains you put yourself deliberately in the position of having a corner on the market no matter how you try to sell it. Well, Jaguar, you don’t just have corner, you took the entire freaking block off people just like me. As for the wealthy customers, the price of a jar of peanut butter is $3 for the rich and the poor. They don’t like being overcharged any less.

The Ford Extended Warranty Plan I bought from the Ford dealership hardly covers anything. It leaks transmission oil; I've had to replace the hoses for the coolant lines twice. I purchased a new 2011 Jaguar XF. When I drove the car, the brakes were squeaking. I expressed my concerns to the salesperson and his reply was this is normal. The reason they squeak is because it is a new car and the brake dust has not burned off yet. At 15,000 miles, I took my car in for an oil change and again complained about my brakes. And once again, I was told the same lie. It was blamed on the car being new and on the brake dust that needs to burn off.

At 30,000, one year later, I took my car in for another oil change, and once again complained about the brakes. I purchased a 2002 Jaguar XJ8 2 years ago with 70k miles that has been owned and driven carefully by 1 owner in near-showroom condition. I purchased the 2002 Jaguar XJ8, believing I would be buying a vehicle of quality, a car that would last me at least another 70k miles. Sure, I knew the purchase of a Jaguar came with a hefty upkeep bill, but I would've never even begin to think that the Jaguar transmission would be of such poor quality.

Since my purchase 2 years ago, I have put a little under 18k miles of love in it under the warm Florida sun. One day, while driving my 2002 Jaguar XJ8, I had a "Gearbox Fault" appear at a green light. Along with the message came a jolt, as if I have been hit from behind. When I turned my car off and on again, everything was fine for a day or 2, until the message and jolt repeated again after driving on a bumpy road. Long story short, this happened randomly over the course of 2 weeks about 3 times until I decided to take it to the local Jaguar dealership for a computer diagnosis. That day, Jaguar happened to be booked up with appointments, so I made an appointment for the following Friday. The transmission situation was getting worse. By the following Friday, my Jaguar XJ8 was barely accelerating (at about 1 mph until the 4th gear, accelerating slightly faster than when you let go of the break in Drive). However, after an hour drive, I still made it to Jaguar.

After 30 minutes of biting my nails and wondering whether the problem was due to transmission failure or something electrical (driving experience felt like a sensor was corrupt), I was told that I have slippage at both gears 2 and 3 and this was due to the Jaguar transmission failure. They happily threw me a quote of $5,500 for a new jaguar transmission and $1,000 for their labor. I kindly declined their generous offer and asked them when does a Jaguar’s transmission usually break down on a 2002 xj8? To which they replied, "usually around 190k-240k miles." I find that hard to believe, being that it was serviced regularly and have never been thrifty on premium oil, premium oil filters, premium gas.etc. I would've understood if the transmission died at 130-170k miles, but at 87,500, almost 3 times less than the expected life!? I have looked around the net and have found other Jaguars that have had their transmission fail at around the 45,000 mile mark. For Jaguar, which at first I took for a brand that produced quality, 45,000 and 88,000 is truly embarrassing. I have had friends that had original Honda transmissions last over 250,000 miles, Three times as much as my prestigious Jaguar XJ8 transmission lasted.

My options? Sell the car for scraps (seeing that as of this moment it does not drive at all, only drives in reverse) or have jaguar fix it for $6,500 or pay $2,000 for a used transmission with 10-20k more miles on it and sell it for reduced value or drive it until that transmission is faulty too (which could be at any given moment, knowing Jaguar).

One thing's for certain, I will never be purchasing a Jaguar again, nor will I be recommending it to friends. I have owned a 2002 BMW 525 before this and I can't even begin to tell you how much more of an impression the BMW made on me over the Jaguar. Bear in mind my BMW had 130k miles when I sold it.

I will be ridding myself of this junk soon and will be purchasing something of quality, something of higher or equal caliber, like a Honda or Kia or something.

I didn’t notice until a few days after I purchased the MK8 that it had a vibration at lower speeds (30 to 40 MPH). I asked my Jaguar dealer and they produced a service notice (**) that says that the fix to this noise is a simple replacement of an exhaust bracket. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that the estimated cost is $914.19 for parts and labor (parts $608.80). I called Jaguar customer service but the Jaguar Corporation has elected to provide me with no assistance on this whatsoever. I offer to pay for labor or some other arrangement but to no avail. Apparently, it’s okay for a Jaguar customer to experience this annoying vibration. And if it’s too bad, I need to pay the $1000.00 to fix it. My complaint is Jaguar knows this applies to XJs; XKs and S-Types but doesn’t feel they need to fix something they know is wrong. Maybe the BMW would have been a better buy!

Jaguar called in an "inspector" from the warranty company who covered the air bag problem. He was never told about the other problems and refused to cover them and I had to pay. The amount was not enough to sue, so I was stuck.

In addition, I was humiliated by their service manager when he went behind my back and called the "inspector" in an obvious collusion against me.

Jaguar is not customer-friendly and just wants to take your money. Their cars are not made well. They use inferior materials that show all sorts of dents and dings. American made cars do not have this problem. Do not buy a jaguar.

Two weeks after I took delivery of the vehicle, the rearview mirror fell off and the service department initially refused to put it back, until I filed a suit. They had to pay counsel fees and court costs. This is a bad company.

Never buy a Jaguar! It is a piece of junk! I will only list the problems I have had. I have already spent enough time and money on this piece of metal. I l0ost all of its internal lights at night on a three hour trip (including odometer and gas gauge). The next morning, they magically work again. I lost air conditioning and other internal electric.

When I took it to the shop, they could not fix it. The mechanic said, "Get rid of it; it has too many gremlins running in it." The car only had 40,000 miles on it. Both front door handles have broken off; water would drain down the door panel, and kill the solenoid to open the door. I get in through the back door. I removed the interior panel on the driver door because I could not get out from inside the car.

Now I physically have to operate the solenoid. The sunroof is screwed up. The trunk does not lock; anyone can walk and open it. The doors lock and unlock when it rains, or if they feel like it. The kids from our softball team call it "the car that won’t let you out". The battery on the key died, and the only way to get in was to use a slim jim. I have carried the slim jim for almost a year now. I’ve had to use it about eight times--very embarrassing.

The transmission is getting ready to go out. I fear taking my 3-year old son in it because it may break down at anytime. The brakes are horrible; I cannot tell you how many times I’ve replaced them. One speaker in the back works; none of the others work anymore. At this moment, it sits in my mother’s garage, two hours away because it won’t stay running. I cannot even get it home to work on it. It has less than 100,000 miles, but most problems started before 40,000 miles. I would literally give it away, if my conscience would not kill me.

Since 1993 there record is quite good actually. It's unfortunate that the issues with Jaguar from the 50's through the 80's still follows it around. I have found both of mine to be nothing short of fantastic. It is a machine though and things do go wrong with machines. One bad apple does not spoil the whole basket. A car is a car. Nuff said. Similar complaints as other jag owners. Mine a 2001 s-type, transmission problems on two different occasions. Had it "fixed" the first time. Second time was completed rebuilt and replaced with a different transmission and less than a year and 5,000 miles later began having the same slipping problems. Initially, there were no warning signs. I was zipping down the highway at 75mph when it slipped out of gear, leaving me to try to navigate (w/o any power) to the side of the road. Second time, I experienced the revving of the engine/rpms.

Called the dealership when it happened and the service manager told me it was just the parking claw slipping and that it would be fine. Less than 20 miles later lost total power, stranded in the middle of nowhere Kansas when it blew and at night. No cell service, no way to get help. Thank goodness, there are still wonderful farmers that drive the desolate back roads. Third time, started getting the same revving and slipping when driving at any speed and I just parked it. So, I probably poured an additional $10,000 - $15,000 into repairs for nothing. I've had pantyhose wear better than this car!

Well, let's say as the car approached 41, 700 miles, the transmission began to slip, lose power and the warning lights came on.

I took it to several different mechanics and all of them said I need help from the dealer or a transmission specialist. I took it to a specialist and the results were the transmission is no good and it needs to be replaced at a cost of approx. $2000.00 with a one year warranty if completed at their service center.

In the one year in which I have owned this Jaguar FX 2010, I have visited the service dealer in Southampton NY as many times I had in the eight years I had owned a Cadillac and much more than during the five years I had owned a Buick. Not only I have encountered a series of mechanical and technical problems, but the service has been less than stellar.

When the engine alert light went on and I took the car to the dealer, they found nothing wrong. At a later visit, they said it was the pump, which they must be ordered. Weeks went by, and I called a couple of times to ask whether the pump had arrived. They did not call me to give me an update and was told it had not. Then when visiting the dealership for another problem that has popped up (there is always something wrong with my car), I was told that the pump had arrived over a month before. No one had called me.

The key broke. The front passenger window now needs a new part. The fuel gauge needs to be replaced. Three times the shift gear got stuck and would not move while I was driving or making a U-turn, leaving me at risk in the middle of traffic. I learned to just shut off the engine and restart. Twice the car would not start at all. Once, in our driveway, we just deserted the Jag and took the old Toyota Avalon. The second time, in Manhattan, we could not move the car when the street sweeper arrived. Luckily, the traffic police had just left or we would have paid a $150 fine. Recently, the engine alarm went off again.

As I was about to leave on a road trip, I made an appointment to bring the car on Thursday at 9:00. When I arrived, they told me to come back at 3:00 PM because it would take at least an hour to diagnose. (Did not they know it when they gave me an appointment? ) After I came back again, wasting a working day in the process, I waited for over an hour after which I was told the alarm was only an indicator that it was time to update the software. That's it? It was not urgent after all. Could not Jaguar design its software to distinguish between engine problems and merely periodic maintenance needs that do not require immediate attention?

Last Fall, I noticed tree sap on the left back door. When I brought the car to the New York City dealer for yet another engine light alert, I pointed the sap to the service manager in the shop and asked him to have it removed since the car wash had been unable to do so. The salesman at the front desk told me it would cost $32. I agreed. But when I came to pick up my car, the sap was still there as before. The salesman had already left so I called him the next morning. He told me that sap had been removed from the front windshield.

I told him I had never noticed any such sap on the front windshield and wanted a refund of my $32.00 . He first refused, saying they did what I had asked, but after I argued, he agreed. Nevertheless, when the charge was not reversed on my credit card, I called him again, leaving a voice mail. A couple of weeks later, when he still did nothing, I left a message on the voice mail of the station manager. No call back. No refund of my $32. The sap stains is my reminder to me to place as many reviews as possible about the poor service.

If it weren't for the cars many problems, Jaguar has certainly lost its next car buyer just for this alone. And then there is the matter of the loaner car. At Cadillac, whenever I came for service, (nothing ever broke in eight years,) the loaner car was ready, along with the paperwork for me to sign. At Jaguar, there is only a limited number of loaner cars contracted from a rental company. Therefore, I had to wait over a week for my appointment if I needed a loaner car. And once I deposited my car at the dealership, they must drive me to the car rental place where the process of filling up papers just begins.

At Enterprise, where I picked up the loaner car last week, the rental agent told me that other dealership in the areas have the cars brought to them. Not so Jaguar. Of course. Furthermore, the Enterprise dealer had me sign for insurance. I told him that I already had car insurance, but he insisted, or I could not get this loaner. Stranded miles away from Jaguar dealership, I had no choice. Now Jaguar dealer not only will not absorb the cost, he insists that we deal with the car rental company. Just a lemon of a car--and bad service to boot.

After purchasing a new 2003 S Type Jaguar - 4.2 liter, I took it back several times under warranty for transmission problems - rough shifting and hesitation at 45 mph. The dealer kept telling me that it would be fine. Because I did not drive the car that much, moved away for a couple of years and traveled extensively in addition, the car has now only 25,000 miles and I tended to believe my dealer. With more time to pay close attention to the problem, I took it back on 04/24/09 for a software update which, according to the dealer, would take care of the problem, not at all. On 07/27/10, I took it back for the same problem. Again the same negative results. On my last visit, 08/09/10, the shop foreman went with me for a test drive. He, as a result, determined that it needed a new transmission.

In summary, the dealer failed to take care of the problem during the warranty period. When I contacted Jaguar of North America, and spoke with Andrea about resolving the problem, even after I offered to pay for the labor, if Jaguar offered the transmission, the results were negative. Based on my experience, the name "Jaguar" is worthless, especially after paying over $50,000 and now getting stuck with a repair that will cost me over $6,500. I have similar feelings about the company and my dealer. I do not recommend Jaguar to any one, especially when so many other reputable cars exist.Think carefully before deciding. I got so many problems with my 2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L. Apparently, this car has been designed for enhancing the ability of the dealer to make money. The switch on the trunk latch caused the trunk light to kill the battery completely. The switch on the shift assembly caused the key not to come out from the lock cylinder, and the key broke while trying to take it out.

Keys can be programmed at the dealer only; two keys and one remote control are required for programming a new key. The total cost for the key was $600. I agree, this is an overpriced piece of garbage. Note: The statement that the alloy rims are very delicate and broke easily is false and misleading. Almost all trailers and heavy trucks use alloy rims. As a matter of fact, my 1999 F250 is still running fine with the factory alloy rims and I have been using it for repot during the last 10 years. I agree that Jaguar rims are weak and defective from factory. I had one rim broken on my Jag and I replaced it all with after market 20" rims and never had a problem again.

I bought a new 2010 Jaguar XK and it has been a very great deal of trouble over the short time I have owned it in the 4000 miles I have driven. The brakes are the main issue. They vibrate horribly under normal use and they also do not stop the car smoothly. Jaguar replaced the pads and rotors twice, re-seated it once and now says that they are normal and within tolerance. They are however unpleasant to use, provide no confidence and far from normal/quite unlike any other car I have ever owned or the 8 loaner cars I have had over the past few weeks. The steering wheel shakes so much that it is deeply unpleasant and in my view, not safe. The dealer drove tested with and without me and of course, drives hard and fast and also brakes hard which is not my style of driving. I am much gentler. Then they tell me that my driving does not suit the car or vice-versa.

Jaguar corporate has been of little help and the area technical representative refuses to meet with me, drive the car with me or talk about a buy back. The car has had other issues such as faulty satellite radio, navigation that froze and was off for two that’s on a long trip, a stall at high speed which did provide a fault code for them which they promptly removed from the computer. A clicking from the wipers which comes from somewhere behind the speedometer but they say it is from the rubbers, etcetera. It has not been a good experience and I cannot recommend the car or the brand. All I want is for it to work. It is such a beautiful car but that is not enough. It has to work and be backed up by good service. I often find that the dealer does not listen to what I say when I explain the issues and then, of course, finds no fault.

A little over a year after I bought my 2001 Jaguar XK8, the hydraulic lines above the rear-view mirror that control the convertible top burst. Oil spewed all over the front interior of the car and into the dashboard. Jaguar repaired the car for free, because it was under warranty. At the time, the local Jag dealer told me that this was a known design/manufacturing defect, and they were seeing a large number.

Now in 2010, the lines have burst again. This time, the oil seeped into my rear-view mirror and behind the fabric on the front two "A" frames. So the total repair bill is going to be in the area of $3K. Neither the local dealer nor Jaguar corporate will help with the cost claiming that the car is too far out of warranty, even though this is a recurring failure.

And get this--they tell me that the oil in the rear-view mirror is not related to the bursting of the hydraulic lines! So I'm through with Jaguars. This car has been in the shop more than it is on the road. I'm selling it and buying something that is dependable.

My 2004 X-Type Jaguar blew up an engine while still under warranty. I recently had an accident that required a copy of repair done on the vehicle. The dealership is out of business and Jaguar does not give any information on where to get the record. Their computer record clearly shows the repair, but they are not willing to send me a simple email or fax to acknowledge the repair. I have spent over six weeks and 100 hours over telephone talking to various people to no avail. They finally referred me to a guy at autonation.com who said he has mailed the copy of service record to my home. When I asked him to what address, he did not know. I have been waiting for over two weeks - still waiting for the mail.

I bought my car, an X-Type Estate in 2005. The car has only done 50,000 miles, has had no less than 3 new sets of tires. The car began kicking out black smoke and needed new rod. The safety belt stork has broken, had 2 lots of brake pads. Every time I take the car in for a service, or as today, an MOT, there is always bad news. My previous car, a BMW, never had as many problems. I wanted a different looking car and love the look of Jags compared to others but mechanically, they are dreadful. A car that is only four years old has already had thousands of pounds spent on repairs and new parts, making me very disappointed. When I have taken the car into Grange Motors in Welwyn for a service or MOT, they always come back with bad news and a list of repairs. I have now had enough of them and will seek alternative garages although I am not hopeful. Is it the Jag or the garage?

I purchased a used 2003 Jaguar S-type with 47,026 miles in February 2008 which was financed by Jaguar credit. I was told that the car is a certified pre-owned vehicle and that I had warranty up to 100,000 miles. The salesman, Carlos **, indicated that the seal (certified pre-owned) and signature on the bill of sale were proof of the warranty. In July 2009, the car broke down and I had it towed to the nearest Jaguar dealer in Dallas. The next morning, I was told by the dealer that they would not work on the car because in Jaguar's database, the vehicle was reported as a "Junk" car and the representative proceeded to provide me with a report indicating that the vehicle is, in fact, junk and has a restricted title.

Since then, I have spoken to several representatives of Jaguar USA and Jaguar credit and have not gotten anywhere. Last week, I was told by Matthew, a supervisor at Jaguar USA, that there is nothing to be done about my problem and that is the end of it.

I own a 1997 XK8 Jaguar. I have had it serviced a few times at the Jaguar Manhattan dealer. I had bought this car used by org. owner in 2004. The car has been wonderful and it has been garage kept and in mint condition. When I purchase the car it was at 32k miles and now it is at 47,580 miles. On March 5th the car was driven by my husband one mile from our house to the shopping center parked and than when my husband later got in the car to start it up and would not start. We called the American Tire and Auto and had them look at (they are located in that same shopping center) they diagnosed that the tensioner on the timing chain had broken. I did not know what a tensioner was so I went online and found that this was a defect in this model year and make of the jaguar car. I checked to see if there was a recll notice and there was not. However I did find that Jaquar had published a technical bullentin to their mechanics on this issue please refer to the Jaquar technical bullentin December 1998 Bullentin No.303-30 & February 2005 Bullentin No.X303-68. There were also articles concerning this defe t in Jaquar World monthly publication Dec-2003 & Jan-2004 as well as Jaguar Enthusiaist Magazine March 2005. I contacted Jaguar's customer service to complain and their response was that since it fell out the warranty period 4 years after purchase because they also have a 50k mile warrnty which this does fall into. That they could not help me. So I told them that since the car was defective to begin with and that there was a safety defect that the warranty was no good from the beginning. Since they sold a car (with the defect) to the public - deceptive pratices. I also told them about the technical service bullentin and they repsonded that they would read it but that was for their mechanics not the public. I gave them my information and havenot heard back from them. I live in NJ and I am not sure if the implied warranty is addressable concerning this case. I also made a complaint to the following federal agencies; Federal Trade Commission & National Highway Traffic Safety Administartion. I am deeply concerned that this car was sold at an high price and now that the defect has plaqued my car that they are stepping away from it saying that it is not their concern since it falls outside of their responsibility. Their responsibility in the first place was to sell the consumer a workable product in the first place not a defective product. If after knowing that there was an issue than a recall should have been done to get a new tensioner and chains the parts and labor would be $2500 alot cheaper than a new engine. I have a 6 month old baby and I told them that I was very lucky that we were not stranded somewhere that we couldn't get help. They told me that they would have to make a diagnoses and I told them that there was one already done by a reputable carshop and they said it would have to be by the dealer, I told them if they wanted to pick up the tab for that since I have already paid for one I would tow the car to the closest dealer they said they couldn't pay for it and I told them could do better than that. Also, I asked them if their outcome was the same as the other car shop what other conversations would be entertained and they said again it doesn't fall under the warranty period and I said again there is no warranty since in the first place they did not hold up to their responsibility on delivering or fixing a defective problem and going ahead and just selling this product to the consumer mis-representing a non workable product.

About 3 years ago, I complained several times to Jaguar Corporate office about my car, a 1998 XJ8, losing power on the interstate at a high rate of speed. This happened a number of times and several times I was fortunate not to have been killed. Jag claimed that they had no problems with this. This year they have come out with a recall for the Throttle closed position operation that will correct this problem. Yesterday my car started bucking and the transmission fault light came on. The car did not want to move forward in traffic and in rush hour traffic, it was quite an ordeal to stop at traffic lights, try to get the car moving forward and to get onto a side street and call for towing. Today, I had trouble starting the Jag, then tried to drive it around the block to no avail.

It had a loud thunk and would not move, but very slowly so my efforts were abandoned. I have notified Jag corporate 800-452-4827 of this today and spoke with a young man named Adam. He claimed not to have heard of this problem, yet upon a small amount of internet research at your Consumer affairs.com and Edmunds.com. I am coming across many Jag owners who have the same failed transmission problems. Some of them are speaking of a class action suit against Jaguar. Adam informed me that complaints must come from dealerships. He also stated that the problems could be caused by owners not taking care of and not servicing their Jaguars. I do not believe that. Surely these Jag owners experiencing these problems are also reporting them to the dealerships but then again, owners may be trying to find repair shops that are not going to charge them $6,000 for a new transmission.

That is what I will be doing so No, my complaint will not be reported by a dealership. That does not mean the problem does not exist and it is in Jaguar's best interests to ignore the problem as long as they are able. It certainly costs them less money to ignore it for now. Do I have to wait another 3 years for Jaguar to admit to this defect with their product, if they do at all? I would suggest any Jaguar owner having problems to call Jaguar Corporate and file a complaint. Jaguar must keep a log of it and I would advise the owner to do so as well. If there are enough complaints, then Jaguar will be forced to foot the bill to repair these failed transmissions. There seem to be too many of them to be anything but a defect that warrants a recall.

In July of 2008,the car had 65000 mile on it. I drove a couple of errands before I stopped at the grocery store. When I attempted to leave, I turned the ignition switch only to hear a terrible racket. Several days after I had the car towed to the garage, I was told the timing chain broke and did major damage to the engine. I talked to a friend in Richmond who told me that the 1999 Jaguar XK8 had "problems" with the timing chain but was fixed in later models.

After having my car repaired--installed a used engine--the machanic told me that there had been a tecnical bulletin sent out to dealers about the problems occuring in these cars with milage above 60,000 miles but no recalls had been announced. The economic damage was the cost of replacing the broken engine with a used one with a new timing chain kit at a cost of more than $7200.00

The technician could not remove the locking wheel nut so inserted more air in the tyre, suggested I went to the local tyre centre and promptly left. I visited two centres, neither of which could solve my problem so I had to call for assistance again. This time my vehicle was recovered to the Hull centre. They could not remove the nut so cut the whole unit off and sent it to specialists to grind off the wheel.

My car was finally ready for collection on the Wednesday evening following the incident which happened first thing on the previous Friday. I received a bill for 1,092 for what was basically a flat tyre.

This is yet another problem I have had with this car. Previous problems included a faulty turbo which was finally replaced after about five visits. The symptoms have now manifested themselves again but jaguar tell me that it is a different problem and want about 800 to fix it.

I have my own business so, when my vehicle is unavailable, it impinges on that. The economic damage from the last incident is that a punctured tyre cost me 1092 and to be without the vehicle for a week.

One steel nut in the carby was very badly clogged and corroded. This nut was replaced and the tank drained several months ago.

After the cleaning the car startted perfectly on even the coldest morning until a couple of months ago and another inspection of the carbies revealed further clogging.

I bought my Jaguar in 1996 from Howard Orlof Jaguar dealer in Chicago with 20% interest. It was already a bad deal from the begining.Soon after i had the car it rained. I noticed that inside of the car conpletely got wet.At the time dealer did nothing about it.Every time it rained entire carpet in the car completely got wet.I drove the car a few more years with copletely wet inside. No mechanic was able to find the leak.I paid so much labor cost and got no result. Finally a few years later i found the problem. Every pipes and wires come from engine compartment to the glove compartment were built very loose. That was totally Jaguar maker's mistake. I was never able to enjoy my car. Day by day there was something wrong with the car. First AC compressor gone bad with smoking and making huge noise.I paid $3000.00 to fix it. In one year time some reason all the rotors completely gone bad and had them fixed. Soon after wind shield wiper never stop working, there was power at all time even i shut off the car.It was cotroled by the central procesor unit computer and to fix it a dealer told me i need a new procesor unit. It was too expencive and i did not do it. Then mechanic extended a wire from the fuse box and i was able to use it manuelly. Few months later the evaporator gone bad and i had to spend $1300.00 to fix it.Than starter gone bad. Had to fix it.Soon rear window de froster did not work. Antenna did not work. Passanger seat started to go all the way back itself and finally broke. 2 of the heat blower motors broke. I bought used ones from EBAy and fix them myself. Guys this car almost made me a mechanic. Honestly i am telling the truth. The fuse box also burned i ordered one and put it in place myself. One day when i was driving the radiator hose exploded on highway and i almost burned the engine. I wish i did then. Maybe i could have better life without it. It is like a bad marriage. Then ( no kidding) the differential broke on a highway, can u imagine? How many car's differentials breaks? I bet it happens to only Jaguar. What a bad quality cars they nade. No kidding i had to change the fuel pump too by myself. The mechanic told me it would take 7 or 10 hours to fix it. Because they had to take out the fuel tank out then replace the pump. But i made a short cut. I cut the body under the rear window and fixed the fuel pump myself. There is more.Al of the door handles broke too.First i made a hole in the door and tied a rope to inside handle and by pulling the rope i was able to open the doors. Finally i found used used ones on EBAY and i fixed myself.Lately i drove my car to bingo hall. After the game my car did not start. It was copletely dead.It wasn't hard to guess what was the proble. After all the bad experience i knew it was the brain of the car th CENTRAL PROCESSOR UNIT was dead. I found a used one on EBAY and fix it too myself.Do you want to know how many batteries i changed in 12 years? 6 yes 6 batteries. It is a mistery. Something drains the battery and i could not find the reason yet. Now everyday when i come home i take off the ground cable from the battery. There are some more problems but i will cut off here.Shame on Jaguar company making such a bad quality cars. They should give a full purchase fefund toall 93 Jaguar owners.

My 2002 Jaguar X-type started having transmission problems which knowing nothing about cars I simply just asked the service ryder if it was normal for the car to jerk while accelerating sometimes. The service ryder explained that a number of normal causes could have prompt that to happen and that if there is no problem getting around then the car is fine.

I continued to experience this problem so I asked to have them look at it when I took my car in for service at 39,000mi. The dealership serviced the vehicle and told me that they did not notice anything wrong with the transmission and sent me on my way. Being 19yrs old and knowing nothing about cars, I did not realize that there was going to be a problem with the fact that the dealership did not note the transmission problems on my work order. I brought the car back approximately a month later and asked them to look at the transmission again because the problem had greatly increased and I was told that although I am still under the miles of the warranty, my car is out of warranty based on the 4 years from the first sale date and that I would have to pay for the diagnostics and repairs.

I was furious that this dealership would have the nerve to tell me that my transmission was fine while under warranty even when I was having problems with it and then the moment the warranty was up they asked me to pay for the very same repairs. The service manager called Jaguar corporate for me and told them that I did in fact bring my car in while under warranty with transmission problems and whoever it was that he talked to said that there should be no problem having Jaguar replace the transmission but he had to clear it through his supervisor. I called a week later and he said that Jaguar rejected my request for repairs. I asked him how that was possible since the transmission was under warranty when it started slipping and he said that it was out of his hands and that there is nobody who wants to offer me assistance.

Obviously I felt that it was the dealers fault for not completing their fiduciary duty which was to document all problems and complaints under warranty so I parked my car outside of the dealership and started protesting their service center. I had a ton of support from the community and had so many people coming up and telling me how they were lied too and screwed over by that dealer as well. On the other hand, me, my friends, and my family were being verbally and physically harassed by the management and employees of the dealership and at one point we even caught one employee vandalizing my Jaguar on video tape and then fleeing the scene in his Ford truck and the service manager was so mad at me that he will no longer admit that I had brought my car in under warranty but has actually started telling people that I am not even a customer of the dealership.

The president of the dealership would not comment or correct the situation and so we halted our protest as a response to the hostility and threats coming from their employees and management. At that point I took my case to the next level that I knew of which was the Jaguar Customer relationship center. My case was reviewed by the board of appeals and somehow rejected once again based on the fact that I was out of warranty. I went back and forth with the customer service representatives about the fact that the decision was inaccurate because it was based on fraudulent information because my car was under warranty when the problem began and the service manager had called them once before to confirm that. They repeatedly told me that the decision was final and after months of trying to speak with the management there, they began to ignore my calls and hang up on me. They told me that they would no longer accept calls from me. The representatives began to say many more immature and unprofessional things when answering my phone calls. I thought it was interesting and somewhat entertaining.

After a while of hearing some pretty outrageous stuff from them I went and bought a hand held recorder and recorded them a few times. One guy answered the phone saying, Whats up clarkey boy? and then proceeded to sing hes a maniac, maniac? and another employee asked if I was sitting on the toilet. This is an example of the service the Jaguar North America employees provide while dealing with customers who have paid top dollar for prompt, professional customer service. I left the premier automotive group several messages to call me back about the problems at the customer service center, but also ignored all of my calls. The customer service center for Jaguar North America has recently taken action to block my phone numbers from even being able to dial their phone number.

This is a service that I have, and still am paying for and I am being denied that service from Jaguar Corporate. All of this has been spread out over a span of two years and still nothing has been done about the situation and the executives of the Ford Motor company have told me that they do not have time to deal with my situation. It also says in the Jaguar Passport to service that the customer is not responsible for documenting or saving receipts and that Jaguar cannot refuse service of warranty based on lack of documentation. Apparently they do not stand by their promises just like they do not stand by their product. If you too have experienced transmission problems with your Jag please contact me and let me know about it.

I have similar complaints about the service received by Jaguar. I bought my 2002 X-type from the dealer in 2005 with 28,000 miles. It was a lease vehicle that was being turned in early. I diligently took it every 3,000 miles for oil changes and tire rotations. On the 30,000 mile service everything checked out OK per their service. I had at least 2 oil change and tire rotation before returning for the 40,000 mile service. I was told I needed new brakes and rotors but nothing had been mentioned on any of my prior visits. They have a similar answer from everyone you speak with that the brakes and rotors have to be changed at the same time but no valid reason why this occurs. I had a 1992 BMW before this car and only had to put one set of brakes on it over the years. Today I left my Jag for the 60,000 mile service but reminded them that the oil change was free. When I went to pick up the car the oil had been changed but the maintenance service had not. When I asked when this could be done they readily said tomorrow but now the $400 service that I had been quoted was now going to be $890.00. Everytime I take my car in for service something always goes wrong- either they don't have it ready or don't perform the service I have requested. I can't wait to get rid of this car and I am very vocal to anyone I meet about the inadequate service this Jaguar dealer performs. I have made multiple calls to the customer service line for Jaguar but that gets you no where. They could care less whether their customers are happy or satisfied. I would never recommend anyone buy a Jaguar. I just laugh when I read their advertisement stating they have the #1 service.

I told them it has to be the speedometer head since the diagnostics did not register a code for any sensor malfunction .I also told them this is dangerous condition because several time speedometer shows 55 mph while I am passing cars on what I felt a very high speed.

The dealership actually thought that I got a speeding ticket and that I am trying to make case for defective equipment. The dealership said they can only replace it when they can see the failure. I agree with them and hopped for a day that this speedometer stops working all together. On the third try finally the speedometer completely quit working and they determined that it was the speedometer head and they were going to replace it.11 days goes by and car still has not been fix. I stopped by the dealership to get an update. The service adviser told me that, the part is not available and that they contacted the Jaguar and was told that the speedometer head is not available in the country.

According to the service adviser's conversation with Jaguar, the speedometer manufacturer had not released a replacement part to to the jaguar in UK. It seemed to me that this situation may go on for another week or two and I wont be able to have my car for almost a month. I then called Jaguar customer service and was helped by a woman name ( I will not mention names here), When I asked as to why the part is not available and where the hold up is, she told me while she kept interrupting me, that it takes 48 hrs to research that. I said I need an answer sooner.

She told me that I am being rude and she then hung up on me. I called back and she got on the phone again. I asked her why did she hung up on me. She said I was being rude. I said how is this being rude when a person needs a more concrete answer while he is inconvenienced with his car being down. She said that I am raising my voice and then she hung up on me again.

I called the the third time, she answered the phone again. I asked for a supervisor. She said why do you need a supervisor , she will tell you the same thing. I said you either pass me to a supervisor or I will go straight to president of customer service. She said hold on, here is a supervisor.

At this time I was put on hold for 10 minutes. A woman name (I will not mention her name here) picked up the phone. When I started to tell her what has been going on, she continue to interrupt my conversation. When I asked her to stop interrupting, she told me that I am raining my voice and I am being rude. She also hung up on me.

At this time I was very upset. I called back and got the same person on the phone .

This is not a first Jaguar I owned, I have owned a 1980 XJS which I traded for this car I also feel that I paid one month car payment for nothing. BTW the car still has a problem with steering that the dealership tells me that they cannot duplicate..

I bought my 2004 Jaguar S type in Sept of 03. I have taken my car back to the dealer four times complaining that the car drives like the break is on. The second time I took it in, they put all new front and back brakes on my car. Now there is this recall about the brakes being applied on its own (so I wasn't crazy after all) and I took it in today and the dealership is telling me I need new brakes again, just 13 months later. I do not drive the freeway; I do not drive back and forth to work (I work out of my home). And I am finding it hard to accept let alone believe it is possible it needs new brakes again. I had 1,100 miles the last time they put on all new brakes and I now have 15,000. I know for a fact there has been a problem with these brakes that I have attempted to get someone to hear me about. Now I feel you are asking me to pay $500.00 for new brakes because of your cars malfunction. The service manager told me it is normal to expect to put on new brakes at this rate once ever year or so, or 15,000 miles. I have had the car almost 5 years, it has 48,000 miles and it needs brakes again, making this the fourth time. I called five other car dealerships that said I am being sold a story. (What else would they say?) Yet I owned a brand new Saab for 7 years and it never needed new brakes in the entire time I owned it, (turned it in to you for this S type). Before that I owned a Brand new Volvo for 6 years and never had to replace its brakes, and I did work out of the home when I owned them both, and did plenty of freeway driving and put twice the miles, so it isn't that I am hard on brakes. I havent even done half of that with this Jaguar, and I have replaced them three times. You cannot convince me it isnt because of these faulty hand break recall. And the worst is even after they did the recall repair; it still drives like the brakes are on. I filed complaints with the attorney general, heard nothing back, Lemon Law Consumer affairs agency, heard nothing yet, Jaguar corporate, they called and left a message, I called them back havent heard back from them and it has been 6 months, and JD Power group called to ask today if I was satisfied with the recall and service I received from Jaguar and I said absolutely not. I do not feel it should be me who replaces these brakes. I cant wait till my lease is up and I am done with Jaguar. I have wanted a Jag all my life and my dream came true, I just didnt realize the dream would be a nightmare! To anyone out there, Jaguar has the worst service and they dont stand behind their cars, and certainly dont take on any responsibility.

I have an issue that is shared by hundreds if not thousands of Jaguar owners. The problem is with a faulty transmission in the 1999-2003 Jaguar S-type cars. Research shows that most of these vehicles experience a partial or total transmission failure anywhere from 20,000 to 60,000 miles. Repair costs average around $5,000 upwards to $7,000. Typical problems include transmission slipping out of gear at low or high speed, sudden surges forward when at stop light, which is very dangerous I might add.. And also problems like shifting into reverse or drive only to have the car not move, or getting locked into park when you’ve parked on an incline, even on a slight incline. These are just some of the most common problems you’ll read about at multiple sites on the internet. The other common tie with the S-type Jaguar owners, including me is this: Jaguar corporate as well as Jaguar dealerships refuse to admit there is a problem. I have contacted Jaguar directly by phone and email, they have never contacted me back. I have had a local Jaguar dealer tell me to my face that there is no known problem with the transmission. They have had the nerve to tell me that I abuse the car, or drive it too hard. That is so not true, few people baby their cars as I do, one look at it and you’d see that. A quick look at carsurvey.org among other sites clearly shows that it is a HUGE problem. This corporate giant is hiding from the fact that they have a problem. A problem that could (and should) cost them millions of dollars to fix. But as I mentioned, Jaguar and it’s dealerships are hiding the truth and their negligence. Anyone buying this car should expect a dependable vehicle, not a nightmare. Bottom line, this should be handled as a recall issue or at the very least Jaguar should at least agree to pay some percentage of the replacement costs. I am writing you today hoping that you may find this worthy of further research and perhaps some exposure that might help some of us that have become victims of corporate greed. Thank you for your time.

In 1967 I owned an XKE and in 1971 got a newer model E 2+2 and both of these cars were horrible. I swore I would never get another jaguar. Now Ford gets a hold of Jaguar years later and I thought I would try it since they now had mechanics that knew what they were doing and just better quality control. So I got an S type jaguar in Apr. 2001 from South Bay Jaguar then known as Peyton Cramer.

In 2002 when I took my car in to be serviced I told them that I felt the gears were slipping. From previous experience with the 2 Cars mentioned earlier, I knew darn well what slipping gears feel like. I also extended my warranty to 6 years instead of 4 years based on my past history with Jaguar...figured better safe than sorry. Well, each time I advised Jaguar about the gears (while under warranty) they said nothing is wrong, they test drove the car and they claimed to have hooked a laptop up to see if there were any warning codes which would indciate a transmission problem and none showed.

So for 6 years on and off I mentioned this when I took the car in for service and always the same answer...cannot detect any problem. Ok it is May 2007 ONE month out of warranty, I get a warning message that reads TRANSMISSION FAULT. I HAVE 50,000 MILES ON MY CAR. I proceeded to have the car towed to the dealer and of course this past tuesday they call me to say, indeed there is an internal problem in the transmission and IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED! MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY!

They told me it would be $6,000.! I told them no way! Obviously there was a problem all along and they did not detect it, physically or electonically. The dealership was not willing to do anything for me so I contacted Jaguar headquarters and they got back to me and said the dealer would take some $$ off and Headquarters would throw in a $500.00 coupon. I told them that I did not feel that enough was done and they said at this point it would be the dealer's call if they would do anything else.

I contacted them and they said no! Interesting that the first problem I have out of warranty, is exactly what I have complained about all this time! My car has been seviced here from day one and this had been a complaint of mine almost from day one! I have now been referred to someplace else for the repair by 3 different people and I am still going to pay quite a lot for the repair but for sure Jaguar will not get another 10 cents of my money...ever again. After reading all the complaints that are similar to mine ...

I really feel a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT should be brought out against Jaguar and their defective transmissions. If anyone is proceeding with anything please feel free to contact me at d-bove@hotmail.com I believe Jaguar is fully aware of their situation. I have read the other complaints here and Jaguar should be ashamed of themselves and reported to the better business bureau via the dealer!

In February 2006, I purchased my 9th vehicle from this dealership, a 2005 Jaguar XJ8L with 16,000 miles on it. Three (3) days after purchasing the vehicle it went in for its first of many visits with bad brake squeel.

Over the course of 13 months now, I have had the rotors replaced, the brake pads replaced, rotors deglazed, a brake gel applied, etc., to no avail. It has been only 2500 miles since its last visit and the squeel is back again every time the brakes are applied. This time I met with the general manager of the dealership, Garrett Ming, to negotiate a buy back (since the service writer, Alex Arana now has told me that warranty will no longer cover any brake issues - even though this has been a problem since delivery) since the problem cannot be rectified to my satisfaction.

It's time the dealership returns the loyalty to the customer who has purchased 9 vehicles from them. Mr. Ming had the used car manager, Howard Whitson contact me to get a 'pay-off' from my lender. After the recieved the amount still owed Mr. Ming told me there is nothing that the dealership can do to help me. Cut and dry! Their explination now is: that all cars will have brakes that squeel/squeek due to the composition of what brake pads are made of nowadays. Not only has this brake issue not been correct, the car has been into service for several other issues including replacing the ABS system, instrument cluster twice, heat shields to name a few. I even spent 1300.00 to the dealership for new tires after only having the car 9 months.

My offer to the dealer was for them to pay off the car and they reclaim ownership and then sell me another used Jaguar XJ8L on a whole new note for me. I agreed to only pay sales tax on a replacement being that I had just two weeks ago paid the registration on this Jaguar. I would be the one out 13 months of ownership/payments on a note and would be starting all over again.

The dealerships stand is that I am upside down on my note on them taking it back as a 'trade-in'. Yet, according to Kelly Blue Book values, they could turn around and re-sell it and still make a profit. Nope. They don't/won't see or negotiate. This speaks volumes of dealer loyalty to a loyal customer.

I contacted jaguar cust serv. and they told me that the recall had been done on my vehicle in 2004(nov). They also told me that I would be responsibile for the repair. I investigated the recall and later found out that the part that was replaced was a used part. Jaguar cust. serv. first told me that on recalls, the dealer is supposed to replace the part with a new part.

I then found out that the same part number with the recall is the same part number of the part that was placed back on the vehicle. I also tried to purchase the part(throttle body), and one jaguar part dept. told me that the part would cost $1800.00. He also told me that a used throttle body cost $350.00 but I could not purchase that part because it was part of a campaign(whatever that was). I then contacted Jaguar again and spoke with Kim again. She told me that I was suppose to have a new part on my vehicle at first.

Then she called me back approx. 3 days later and told me that is was ok for the dealer to have put a used part back on the vehicle. The recall only had a year warranty. They provided me no help at all. I would not take a new Jaguar if someone gave it to me.

I purchased my S-type Jaguar in April of 2003. I bought it used with 30,000 miles on it and everything appeared in good condition. After owning this car for less than a year the drivers side window fell down into the door. I worked a demanding job and had to hire a local auto shop to do a quick fix on the door and of course, pay out of my pocket. The next thing that went wrong was when the window in the rear right door fell down into the door. I was also having transmission problems. I had to travel to work on a busy two lane highway that could be described as dangerous in a safe car. I would be driving down the highway and my car would literally stall and would not take gas. I had to pull over to the side of the highway and wait for it to kick back into gear and take gas again. This is a very dangerous situation.

This was all looked into by my local dealership Bob Dunn on 11/12/ 2004.They replaced the intake manifold with new gaskets and replaced leaking breather elbows. Then Christmas 2004, one month later, the gear shift broke for the first time. If you don't know, the gear shift is guided by a piece of hard plastic. My car would get into a situation where the gear shift would not move. I would sit and gently try to move it. I was successful on some occasions and not on three other occasions. I have had this replaced THREE TIMES.

I was home for the holidays and I had to get a mechanic to get up under my jaguar and move the gear to drive so that I could drive back to North Carolina, stuck in drive. I could not turn my car off or put my car in any other position, Reverse, Park etc. I got back to NC and got my car fixed by a local shop. Then the gear shift mechanism broke again. The shop I went to fixed it again for free honoring their original work.

Now here I am in September 2005 and my S-Type Jaguar with 77,000 miles is broken once again. The gear shift is broken again and in addition the engine/tranmission light is on and now must be hooked up to a machine to view this new problem. I don't know what this will cost. I have been repeatedly disappointed and unfortunately the lemon law in NC doesn't apply after two years.

In March 2002 my wife and I leased a 2003 Jaguar X-Type. The cost was slightly higher than that advertised, once you added in the "options" which was fine. In the two years since we have had the car, it has been a non-stop nightmare. Within the first few months, we started noticing a gasoline smell in the cabin of the car, and the "gas cap ajar" light would come on. So we took the car to the dealer twice for this problem, and twice it was returned. Once they said nothing was wrong and the second time we were told it was the "gas cap sensor" which was replaced.
So one day we are getting gas at a local gas station, and a 17 year old kid comes over and said that gas was trickling from the gas tank! I took a look, and sure enough, a small but steady stream of gasoline was leaking! Of course this happened on a Sunday, so I could not reach anyone until Monday. Needless to say, the dealer was quite apologetic, and promised to fix it right away.
In the meantime, I served Jaguar (I am a lawyer) with a lemon law notice. Under NJ (where we live) law, if the dealer does not fix the car after three tries, you get your money back, and the dealer has to inform all future purchasers that the car was returned under the NJ lemon law. In the interim, I got a call from Jaguar offering us one-month's lease rebate ($417) for the "inconvenience." I accepted it, but refused to sign any waivers, just in case. So instead of crediting us the one month, we were billed, and then sent a check. I deposited the check, and once it cleared, I sent it back to them as the payment for the particular month. In the interim, the payment was late, so they billed us late fees. I refused to pay the late fees, so they have been billing us late fees on the late fees to date, although the lease payments are fully paid.
So once this was fixed, everything seemed fine, until about six months later, in early 2003. At that point, the driver's side door would not open. So when we took the car to the dealer, they fixed it. They also told us that the front rims were bent, and wanted $1,200.00 to fix them. For the record my wife drives the car 99% of the time, and is a very slow and cautious driver, to say the least. I told them forget it, but the fellow at the repairs department wrote on an invoice that they diagnosed the problem and that we declined the repair. Clearly to build a record. So about three or four months after that, the trunk stopped opening. Once again, in the car went. No mention of bent front rims this time, however.
Finally, about four weeks ago, the rear passenger side tire was flat. I called AAA to come and repair it. When the tow truck arrived, the driver told me that he would probably not be able to get the wheel off, something he encoutered a lot with Jaguars (of course). So he took the lugs off, and sure enough, the wheel would not budge. The driver told me the dealership would have to bank off the wheel, which probably was rusted on. So we called the dealership, and they sent a flat bed to come and tow the car.
My wife then went in the next day to pick up the car, and was told that the problem was a cracked rim, and that a new rim was about $400.00. Obviously we had no choice, so I had them replace the rim. I am convinced that the dealership cracked the rim when trying to remove it from the car, but this can never be proven. To make matters worse, we recently received a recall notice. Apparently the turn signal will blink inside the car, but the light outside will night. Therefore, the driver will think he or she is signalling.

I just took the vehicle in for its 20,000 mile service and again the vehicle was vibrating when I applied the brakes. They checked out the brakes and said that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. They stated that driving in stop and go traffic will do this.

I have owned a Mazda, Chevy, Oldsmobile, BMW, and a Mercedes. All of these vehicles were driven at least 60,000 miles in the same driving conditions as this Jaguar, and not once did I ever replace the rotors. By the way I do not drive in stop and go traffic. If this had been a one time thing I might be a little more understanding, but after researching the internet and talking to other Jaguar X-type owners a lot of them have had the brakes and rotors replaced at around 10,000 and again at 20,000 miles and all of them were told the same reason of its their driving habits.

I understand that European cars use softer pads and thinner rotors, but I can't believe they won't last longer than 10,000 miles. I filed a complaint with Jaguar customer relations center asking them to fix the problem again under warranty and they refused saying the warranty was only for 1 year or 12,000 miles on the brakes. It appears to me that maybe Jaguar has a brake problem and needs to look into this instead of just blaming the owner for the poor quality of their product.

Now at 16K miles the dealer suggest deglazing the brakes for $220. However, Jaguar Customer Relations says the repair will not last and that this could be inherent with the car. However, Jaguar refuses to accept any responsiblity or offer any assistance.

I purchased my 1999 XJ8 in December of 2001. 3-4 months after purchase the low engine coolant lite came on -- I reported this to the Jaguar dealer. They checked and said they replaced the thermostat regulator. I drove the car 3-4 more months and the problem happened again ... this time, the hose exploded and all fluids escaped. I was stranded in Richmond for three hours.

Was reading Daniel's comment on Jaguar.

    I bought a 2003 Jaguar S Type on 4/4/03.

The very next day I was driving locally, and went over a speed bump in a parking lot. As soon as I went over the bump at very low speed, several messages and warning lights came on- Engine malfunction, parking brake failure, and DSC failure-unable to engage. It took several minutes for me to restart car. When it restarted, no lights came on, and car ran fine. At dealer next day for something else, mentioned it to them, they told me they had never seen that before, but since it was running fine, they would look at it next time it came in for service.

Two weeks later, driving home from work, and exiting Route 66, at about 45 mph, stepped on the brake, warning lights came on, car went into same failures as before, barely able to stop the car- almost plowed into car in front of me at stop light. This time, could not restart and clear the problem - drove home in the "limp" mode.

Called Jaguar, car was towed into Rosenthal Jaguar. When repairing the car, they told me the had received 17 codes.. which they thought was strange- and they replaced the throttle control. However the engine failure message and light still stayed on, so they called Jaguar (at least that is what they told me.)Jaguar supposedly knew of this problem, they told Rosenthal that wires on the wiring harness passed over a certain sensor, and tend to fray and short out sensor, and other systems. They were told to retape, separate and reroute wires.

While I appreciate Rosenthal's efforts to fix the car, and I believe they did the right thing, I am amazed that Jaguar would let dealers sell this model, without performing this simple modification first, when you consider I could have killed myself or someone else. I would have thought a company with Jaguar's reputation would have been a little more responsible.

Problems with ignition coils/parts. I own a 2000 Jaguar S-Type. As soon as my warranty expired I started having problems with the car misfiring. I was told that one of the ignition coils went bad. I replaced it and 2 weeks later the same problem occurred. Now I had to replace the remaining 7 ignition coils. The problem is that these parts are not available. They were ordered and Jaguar still doesn't have them. My car has been sitting in the shop since last Friday March 21.

I called Jaguar several times and sent several e-mail messages with no avail. In response I get these pre-typed e-mail messages telling me how great they are! I've been asking for a rental car since they do not have the parts in. Their answer was that once the warranty is over they do not have any type of car rental service. As of today, Thursday March 27, Jaguar still doesn't know when they will receive the parts. I was told by customer service today that they will call be back again on Monday, if they have any news!! On the meantime my wife is acting as my cab driver to and from work everyday. This is the excellent service I was promised when I bought my first (and last!) Jaguar.

Bought 2003 Jaguar S Type brand new. On the third day, I drove car into my garage slowly, the car wouldn't stop and damaged my garage drywall. Since then I have had at least 6 incidents that almost caused an accident. The problem is once the brake is applied, my foot also steps on the gas, causing the car to continue in a forward motion; it is not my foot that is the problem. At a stop light, with my foot on the brake, I tapped my foot toward the gas pedal ... the brake pedal is lower than the gas pedal. Check any other car and you will see the gas pedal is MUCH lower than the brake pedal. My bet is there have been many accidents as a result of this problem.

Yes and no. Car enthusiasts will tell you that most European cars are set up for "heel-and-toe" braking -- with the brake, accelerator and clutch (a vestigial device once used in shifting) all at the same height. Americans prefer the brake pedal much higher than the accelerator. Why, we have no idea. We personally find it clumsy and dangerous. You have to lift your foot too high to get to the brake.

I have had many problems with my new Jaguar X type which was leased out just a year ago. Started about a week into the car the sunroof broke, about 2 weeks later brakes again. About 2 months later the transmission and transfer case went. At the same time the suspension had to be changed. A few months later the computer of the car had to be changed. I just get the car back no more than 2 weeks, and the radiator, thermostat, and fan module went.

I leased a 2000 S-Type in Feb 2000. From the first time I took my Jag to a dealership for service I was shocked by the poor service. Two and a half years later the car stalled out while driving ... very scary.

5 days in the shop and they sold me new brakes and rotors after 30,000 miles -- $1000. 10 days later the car stalled out while driving on the freeway. Roadside service was awful Car towed for the second time ... another 6 days in the shop. No one apologized or offered any Good Will.

I filed several complaints with the dealership and corporation...little response. The worst service in the industry! Lexus blows Jaguar away when it comes to quality and service.

I purchased an 2002 X-Type 12/01. I had electrical and mechanical problems with it in February. Brought it in for service for thee problems 1) inoperable headlight (2) trucnk won't close properly (3) indicator in dash goes on ( had good service). A few days later I had similiar issues as well as additional service problems. I waited to see if anything else would go wrong.
In April I too it in for service again (1) yellow indicator light in dash still coming on (2) trunk latch still won't close properly (3) one-touch sun roof inoperable (service was terrrible).
Then drove the car some more and had more problems. Brought it in again for service for (1) trunk latch still won't work (2) engine hesitates (3) loud piercing noise in dash (4) car refused to lock (5) washer fluid nozzle broken. I was never called when my car was done with being repaired. I finally called after three days and they told me that my car was already picked up. Well, I didn't pick it up so who did? Well they finally realized that my car wasn't picked up. I picked it up (terrible service now they scratched the top of my trunk).
