When my temperature gauge stopped working I called CarShield to start my claim and get garage referrals. They gave me the name of a tire store. I chose to take my car to a reputable garage. The Garage called CarShield to start the claim, informing them that they planned to replace the thermostat. The following day CarShield called me and said they would only pay part of the diagnostic charge and 70% of the labor charge because their labor guide called for less labor time. My garage used Mitchell’s, CarShield couldn’t tell me which guide they used. I wound up paying about $300 out of pocket!

I could not do that. It cost me $1,400. Thanks Carshield. I really believed you. This is a rip off and I never got any money back and I never used it for one year. CarShield is a rip off. They do not fix anything on your cars. Barely I six months ago my engine went out and they denied my claim due to when I called the claim in my job is three minutes away from the shop. The shop kept my car for two months. No rental, no anything. I had to come out of $900 for a rental. They only paid me back 700 of that. Also did not replace my engine. I paid for a different engine myself 5900+1200 to put in the engine. They did not cover it even though my coverage says that. Now I’m having transmission problems and they’re only covering the vacuum hoses that’s leaking.
The company told them to shop that it’s in That it’s low on transmission fluid, the mechanic did not say it was no transmission fluid in it. Now they’re denying my claim for transmission and not trying to help me anything about it which they’re liars. They keep your car for a long time and don’t fix what actually is wrong with it. I would like to do a lawsuit against them because I fix my own engine and now they’re trying to fix my I have to fix my own transmission when I have coverage through Car Shield and I think this is crap.

In late Jan 2025, our 2016 Cadillac Escalade's 6.2-liter engine started making a funny sound. We had the Cadillac towed, at our expense, to our mechanic to diagnose. He notified us our engine's lifters were shot, so we called CarShield. Here's where our nightmare began... A note about our car. Our 2016 Escalade is kept in our garage. Its exterior/interior is constantly cleaned (during the winter we maintain monthly membership at the local car wash so no hand washing), all maintenance is performed on time, the engine block is cleaned once a quarter, and leather is treated as needed. You’d swear it just came out of the factory; it’s that well maintained.
The first thing Car Shield requested was our maintenance records on our Cadillac, which we emailed them within 5-6 hours. A week later, we were assigned claims adjuster Travis, who contacted my husband and was shocked at our records and how well maintained our vehicle was over the past two years. Travis then contacted our mechanic to discuss repair options. After some back and forth over the next 10 days, Car Shield finally agreed that our mechanic could replace the lifters only; but not the engine as our mechanic proposed (he noted several other integral engine components as degraded/needing replacement). At this point, it was already the end of February. Once our mechanic received the necessary parts and reassembled the car, he hooked it up to the diagnostic machine, which denoted a weak alternator issue.
After another week of back and forth with Car Shield, our mechanic received approval to replace the alternator on March 6. Once the alternator was installed on our Cadillac, our mechanic began testing again and noted blue smoke coming out of the exhaust and low engine oil pressure. This was on March 11. Keep in mind that from the very beginning, our mechanic diagnosed during the disassembly of our engine that there were enough indicators that we would need a new engine. He left several messages for Travis again. On March 14, we contacted customer service and requested a supervisor, since Travis wasn’t returning phone calls to either our mechanic or us. On March 18, we finally heard back from Travis, who had been out of the office (apparently no one picks up the slack). More back and forth occurs, disagreements on how to proceed, insinuations to our mechanic that perhaps he doesn’t know his job, etc.
Today is March 28. We have been without our car for 9 weeks. Made 3 loan payments on our car. Unused insurance on a vehicle sitting at our mechanic’s shop outside in Ohio. Still no closer to a restored car that we can drive to work. We’ve made our warranty payments on time to Car Shield. But I guess we should have done our due diligence when researching warranty companies and checked out their business model. Did you know that Car Shield’s mission is “... to free our customers from the anxiety of unforeseen breakdowns and costly repairs. We achieve this through unmatched reliability, innovative products and services, and clear, honest communication.” (That quote is pulled directly from their website.)
If that’s the case, then Car Shield gets a big “F” grade on their mission. They speak to big commitments like “Customer-Centric Protection”; “Unmatched Reliability”, Innovative Solutions, “Commitment to Excellence”. Nice words: however, “inability to walk the talk” and “commitment issues” seems more appropriate to describe their business model. In fact, their website is loaded with 5-star testimonials. So perhaps we are the only customer in the USA that has had a bad experience with Car Shield? Buyer beware! Unless you have a dead battery that needs a charge or a flat tire to be repaired, this warranty is useless.

I always keep maintenance up on my vehicle always. I have a 2015 Cadillac with the drivetrain policy. I take it every 50 thousand miles and have transmission fluid changed on it or I do it myself. Well the last time I had it changed. I take it to a Valvoline lube and have it changed. So about 1500 miles after the change. My transmission started acting up. I take it in for service and Carshield uses me having my fluid change against me and will not pay to have it fixed. That is a good example of a ripoff company.

Carshield seemed like an amazing deal. I fell on hard times due to cancer. When they said they would look at my rates to help, they raised them. Then I was immediately disconnected and my coverage was canceled unless I paid the higher rate. Sorry to say preying on the less fortunate is not good business.

I turned down CarShield's offer of $189/month for coverage. Seemed high for a late model car in great shape. They came back 3 days later and offered me $149/month. If you want CarShield, hold out for a better price. If you find them to be unethical, as I do, and many others as evidenced by their $10 million settlement with customers for unethical behavior, run away.

Very bad experience calling help desk person named Reality. She was rude, unprofessional, talking over you not giving chance to explain the repair. She refused to give me the full name of my salesperson who sold the warranty to me. She also refused to give me the number contact information of the salesperson. I was called by the salesperson of the CarShield and he did his job by convincing me to sell the warranty. Now I called to check for the issue I have and the girl named Reality was very disrespectful to me and refused me to explain the situation. She flatly refused the claim. She was very confident and does not care for any review.
I would recommend every one to check about the company before buying any warranty from them. Their salesperson disappears with no contact information after selling the warranty and signing you to make payment from your bank account every month. Salesperson's phone number and the emails are invisible. You cannot find them after you buy the warranty. Their toll free numbers representative are trained to refuse the warranty and are not allowed to give the contact information of your salesmen. Be aware and stay away from them. Scam!!!!

CarShield is one of the biggest scams in the warranty industry. They promise comprehensive coverage, but when you actually need them, they deny your claim with vague excuses and zero accountability. Their entire business model is designed to take your money while covering as little as possible. I’ve had two major claims denied, both of which left my car completely undrivable—and CarShield did absolutely nothing to help.
🔴 First claim: My vehicle had a Blue DEF system failure, which rendered the car completely inoperable. This is an essential system for modern diesel vehicles, and any real warranty should cover it. But not CarShield! They found some ridiculous loophole in their contract and denied my claim.
🔴 Second claim: My shift button broke, meaning I couldn’t get the car out of park. I was stranded for six hours, while multiple tow truck drivers tried to figure out how to move it. Once again, CarShield refused to help, leaving me stuck and footing the bill myself.
And when you call customer service? What a joke. Instead of offering any real assistance, they act as if you’re just too dumb to understand your coverage. They’ll offer to email you the contract again, as if that somehow justifies them screwing you over. It’s insulting and just another way they brush off their customers. The truth is, CarShield’s coverage is designed to sound good upfront, but the fine print is so full of vague language that they can deny almost any claim they want. The moment you actually need them, they’ll happily remind you that your specific issue isn’t covered, no matter how essential it is to your car’s function. They DO NOT care about their customers. They just want your money. 🚨 Save yourself the headache and put your money into an actual emergency fund instead. 🚨 CarShield is a scam, a fraud, and an insult to anyone who trusted them. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.

I strongly warn anyone considering CarShield to think twice before wasting their hard-earned money on this so-called “coverage.” My experience has been nothing short of frustrating, deceptive, and financially draining. CarShield lures customers in with promises of comprehensive protection, but when it comes time to actually use the coverage, they will go to great lengths to deny claims using technical loopholes.
In my case, they refused to cover a drivetrain failure, falsely attributing the issue to a non-covered part, even though the failure originated from covered internally lubricated components. Their adjusters manipulate technicalities to shift blame onto non-covered parts, completely ignoring the root cause of the problem just to avoid paying out claims. Bottom line: CarShield is a scam. They happily take your money but will leave you stranded when you need them most. Save your money and put it towards real repairs instead. Avoid this company at all costs.

I have been a customer for 5 years with 2 different vehicles. The 1st vehicle was covered for over 4 years and we never had to use the warranty at all. We got rid of older vehicles and add newer vehicle and had for 1 month and we had to use warranty. CarShield right from the beginning whether you call in or not to inquire about claim they take their time about everything.
They don't call you and let you know if they have problems with contacting Bodyshop they just don't do anything. They tell you that something is being ordered, and it hasn't been ordered, and your vehicle is sitting at the shop and ours have been in the shop over a 1 month 2 weeks and counting. So, the Rental is 7 days to repair transmission but 14 days to replace Transmision. CarShield does not hold themselves accountable and don't value customers time or money! They will not extend Rental when they take their time to get their jobs done. You are in the Serving business and are not reliable.

I signed up for CarShield to cover my daughter's car, who was in college far from home. After about a month of having the insurance, the car started making a noise near the axle, but I wasn't worried because luckily I had gotten the warranty. However, when I tried to put in the claim, Carshield accused me of trying to cover a preexisting issue, I guess because I tried to use it so soon after I got it? Anyway, they required all receipts of previous maintenance done on it. I provided that, but then when I had it fixed by the mechanic, they couldn't get a hold of Carshield for weeks.
Nobody would answer their phone. When they finally did get in touch with them, Carshield said they wouldn't cover the cost because the car was too rusty. In a nutshell, it was weeks of hell trying to work a claim with Carshield, and then they denied it anyway, and I was stuck with the bill, all the time paying my monthly premiums. Needless to say, I cancelled the policy. Don't go with this company. They will rip you off.

This company fits the stereotype of a typical insurance company to a tee. Always looking for a way to get out of paying for repairs. Even their "explanation" was a joke. First, they denied coverage on the engine for lack of proof of the failure. Then, when the piston O-ring showed up in the oil pan, they denied coverage on the engine for information that was made up. Trying to blame the dealership for information they received, but the dealership doesn't have said information, couldn't ever get said information, nor would they ever give it in an opinion. I've cancelled both of my policies, and I will never do business with them again. What a waste of money.

Very disappointed, I called Carshield to file a claim because because my engine light was going off on. They told me to take it in. They gave me a couple of choices and I chose Christian Brothers. Big mistake. I took it in the following day. They told me it was ready. I took my brother with me when we picked it up. It sounded very loud and it was smoking real bad so I left it and I told them that my car was not fixed so they called the insurance company carshield and they told them they are more codes are coming on.
Long story short they try to give me something that was not fixed and my car did not sound loud. My car was fine. I'm not sure what they did to it, my car was smoking bad. I called my insurance company, carshield, and they did not have nothing to say. They told me to get my records from when I last serviced my car, I did that and I emailed them to them. Now I'm been without my car for three weeks so I called Christian brothers and they're telling me that they do not want to fix my car unless I give the permission to tear my car down to figure out what's wrong with it for them to tear my car down. It's going to cost me $3500. I'm very disappointed because car shield doesn't want to pay for it? I do not have $3500 to give them the OK for them to do it. They're trying to find any excuse for them not to pay for it. I'm very disappointed. But they have no problem taking my monthly payment.!!

Don’t waster your waste your money! CarShield made the decision to only replace one coil and leave the other damaged coils in my car until they “officially“ malfunction even when car technicians disagreed and suggested replacing all. I have been paying into CarShield since June 2024 and when my car needed service CarShield let me down. The company literally planned to have me on the side of the road due to not paying for what was needed on covered services. Nobody called me to explain even when I asked multiple times to speak with the person who made the decision. I even escalated for the decision to be re-evaluated because it was obvious to technicians that it wasn’t if there would be a problem but when.
My car stayed in the shop for 5 DAYS for something that took a few hours to complete, but waiting on CarShield took forever. I am a single female that drives very far to work daily. I am not trying to be freezing on the side of the road and I would expect the company that I pay into would care just as much due to the fact that I am a paying customer. In addition, part of your contract states that I need to provide suggested maintenance to my car based on needs. However, when a trained technician states that I need work done or parts replaced CarShield chooses to ignore it. This does not sit well with me. As a result, you have lost a customer for LIFE. I have nothing good to say to family members and friends that were interested in this company.

I would have given ZERO stars but it wasn't an option. I have had CarShield's ever since 2022 when I purchased my new to me 2015 Ford Escape Ti. I hadn't had any issues with the car until yesterday (02/10/25) when the vehicle reported a power assist steering fault (seek service). I immediately brought in the vehicle to my local dealership (while fighting the steering) only to find that Car Shield refused to cover the failure. They reported that the contract didn't cover steering, yet I know I requested full coverage (what I am paying for).
I checked their site to see their plans... Across their system, the steering gear box is not a covered item. The TV commercial shows coverage for everything, not just a couple of items... According to the repair facility it is roughly a 4,000$ repair... This is why I bought the coverage for events like this and now they won't cover it. The agent who I spoke with advised that since my car had over 100k miles it wouldn't be covered. I was transferred to the adjuster, and he advised if I wanted to add the steering coverage, then car shield would create a NEW contract, and they would see this event as a pre-existing condition and not covered. So now I am out a vehicle that I am not able to drop the cash to repair and since the failure has fallen from $5K to $500 across the board (when it's worth 5k), so now to look at another vehicle.

I requested an a refund just for the last two months they were stalling to notify me of their conclusion at $190 a month. They told me I had 30 days to cancel when I signed up to cancel.
