Publishers Clearinghouse

Scammers Pretend to be from PCH
Iowa AG Warns Residents About Publishers’ Clearing House
More Charges Against PCH

Consumer Complaints about PCH

Sue of Hawthorne, CA February 24, 2009

Sue of Hawthorne CA (02/24/09)
I places an order Money bag, and I was over charged for the item. I paid the amount that they asked for. Then on 2/10/09, I was sent a refund check, drawn on Wachovia Bank. I went to the bank and found that the refund check is no good. I am not sure what is going on with your company, but it appears that PCH, is a total SCAM. I will pass this information on to everyone that I know.

I wish to have the Publishers Clearning House Company, closed down, so that they do not cheat people.

Frederick of Northfield, MN February 23, 2009

Frederick of Northfield MN (02/23/09)
I sent [letter] to Publishers Clearing House on Jan. 23. I sent a second copy of the letter via e-mail about three weeks ago. I have received no response, and I hate to be ignored.

Last spring I took advantage of Sweepstakes Clearinghouse offer to obtain a Dell laptop computer with one of 400.00 awards checks. The computer was shipped on March 26, 2008. My Visa card was charged 441.08 on March 21. Today, at the age of 10 months, the computer died. I knew it was having trouble when it stopped running yesterday afternoon in the middle of a power point presentation I was giving during a class on photography for senior citizens a situation which was both embarrassing and disgusting since I had to reframe the class into a different mode of teaching on the spot. The computer died completely this afternoon as I was performing some tests to find out why it had malfunctioned yesterday. By the way, I am certain it was not a matter of a dying battery. The computer was operating on plugged in electric power both times.

When I received the computer last spring I was mildly suspicious since I saw that this new? computer had marks on its cover as soon as I unpacked it. New computers dont come that way. I am sure it was reconditioned, even though Publishers Clearinghouse advertised it as new in its promotional flyer. However, I decided not to make a point of my suspicions at that time. I wish now that I had. [They] have two choices: 1.) Send me a truly new Dell computer to replace the one I received. Or, 2.) refund my payment of 441.08 immediately.

One way or the other, I [told them I expected to hear from them] in no less than the next ten days. I was in public relations for nearly 40 years before I retired. Im sure [they] dont want me to spread the word around concerning the scam [they] are running by substituting used equipment for new. I would be satisfied to simply get my 441.08 back so that I can buy a new laptop on my own. If they want the old laptop back (something that I doubt), I'll send it to them COD.

I am retired after a career of nearly 40 years in ministry and specialized communication in church-related institutions. I wanted a laptop to use in teaching situations such as the photography class I teach occasionally for a continuing education program for seniors. Whatever you can do to help will be very much appreciated.

I have been playing publishers clearing house games and responding before there deadline (for way to many days/years) for a chance to win. I have not purchase anything. NO PURCHASE TO ENTER WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR ODDS. I feel publishers clearing house is a scam, because no one ever wins. When was the last time any one heard or seen on tv when they go to someone's house with a check & flowers. The games are free to play, that is the only time i play any more. To get my mind off of things after a hard day at work. It's a scam for those who believe someone does win or someone who needs money. The lottery has better odds than publishers clearing house. Publishers clearing house needs to quit frauding the american people. People have enough to deal with beside dealing with scam artist.

I have tried to pay a bill for an item that came too late to give as a Christmas gift. [They] will not accept a Canadian credit card. I find that insulting and archaic.
