There's never a shortage of consumers, like those below, upset with Microsoft's software. Not to mention those who bought the Xbox or Zune.

Beth of Pasadena MD (03/21/07)
My husband loaded Windows Vista onto my HP laptop. Immediately we had problems with the mouse cursor jumping all over without the touchpad being used - it would scroll pages automatically, open programs, shut them off, exit a word doc I was working on, etc, etc. I called tech support, they said this is a user friendly option built in and they can't turn it off, I will have to deal with it. Two days later, my laptop completly froze and shut down and would not ressond to anything. I called tech support again and over the course of about 5 days, was on the phone nightly with different techs for hours at a time. I could never get the same person and so each tech would ask me to do the same things over and over to verify it's been done before. They verified numerous times that my harddrive had been completly erased. It will not even respond to the backup Windows XP disks that came with the laptop.

I was able to return the Vista software to Microsoft's Return Dept and should have my refund in 2 wks. I have since had to buy another laptop since my first one is useless. I have been inquiring with the tech support manager I'm dealing with about who is responsible for my laptop now that Vista rewrote and erased my computer. They insist it's HP's problem under warranty, but HP sayd my warranty is void now that I loaded software not obtained from their website. Financially, I am out the 800 for the original laptop and the 600 for the new one and no one at Microsoft will help me.
