tracy of memphis, TN June 7, 2009 They have stupid rules, you reach a certain amount, they put a block on your phone. They tell you we can unblock it only once and if you reach the limit again it's over! Prepaid from that point on! Dumb! How are [they] going to count my money? If I want to accept a thousand calls, that's my money! As long as I'm paying my bill it shouldn't matter! I'm tired. [I] put 50.00 on the account and they take 10.00 of that for fees! I'm mad. Brenda of Fayetteville, NC April 29, 2009 I have been dealing with these phone companies that service the prison system for 4 yrs. And they know this is a pot of gold so they over charge us, cut us off in the middle of a call and lie to keep our money. The company that services the facility that my fiancee is in is Global Tel Link and they are worse than Correctional Billing services. As a pre-paid customer you have no access to your bill or usage account, so no matter how much you pay or if the call was accepted or not you have no way of seeing your usage. I have called them several times to make payment's and on top of the money they get for the call's they charge you a fee to pay over the phone. All of this is a gold mine for them and they are taking advantage of the pain of the family member's and those that are incarcerated. Ellyn of Los Angeles, CA April 28, 2009 I have been accepting collect calls from a person who is presently incarcerated. GLOBAL TEL*LINK is the sole carrier for these calls. Last month the charge was 194.85. There is no other provider for these calls so there are no alternative vendors. The new serive provider (ZPDI for Global Tel-Link) started in Feb 09 (I think). Are there other options for these calls? These charges are excessive for each call. A one minute call costs 3.35 (from within CA). Report Your Experience
