Carol of Norwich CT (9/15/03);
In March of 2003 I was lucky enough to win a Z4 at Harrahs in Vegas. My dream car has always been a Z3 and now they had a Z4 that you could win on a slot machine! I won the car and had it transported back to CT. Because the car is a new model I was expecting some quirks about it, but not this many.

I brought it back because the power steering went out and they had to replace the power steering rack. Many of the "idiot" lights stayed lit and I really could not find anything in the book to get them to go off or if something was really malfunctioning on the car. I brought it back to New London BMW and they took care of the situation. My problems had just begun.

About the first of April we had quite a bit of rain overnight and in the morning when I happened to put something into my trunk, the left rear well was full of water. I picked up the cover that was over the battery and the battery was sitting in 3 inches of water. I immediately called up BMW of New London and they proceeded to tell me to bring the car in. I brought the car in and they kept it there for 3 days, I did not have a lease car either, and they said that they thought they had fixed it. The next pouring of rain that we had, the same thing happened. I again brought it back to them complaining of the problem of water in my trunk.

While I was explaining to the mechanic about the problem, a salesman came by and asked me if I thought of parking the car on an incline so the rain would not get in. Now, that was so crazy, I just looked at him and laughed. They took the car and I got it back the next day and they said that they called BMW up and said that they ordered a new top or that they were waiting for a new seal to come in. It is now September and I am still waitin and BMW is not calling me. I called Consumer Service on Sept. 5th and he never got back to me after saying he was going to talk to the BMW mechanic that was working on the car. On Sept 12th I called back and they again did not call me back. Today, the 15th of Sept. I called them up and still have not heard from them. I just want to know what the story is. At least if someone would call me back and tell me what was going on or what they were waiting for. It is like I have the plague or something.

I got the car in March. I missed many days this summer where my car was under a car cover because it was raining. I traded my 2003 Sebring, completely paid for, so that I could keep my dream car and 1/4 of the summer it has been under a car cover as I don't want water in the trunk. The long-term effects of a wet trunk is what I am worrying about.

Can something be donw about this.
