I am a long-time American Eagle/Aerie customer and am posting this review to document a serious issue with misrepresented expedited shipping and fulfillment delays. I paid for overnight shipping with a promised delivery date of the 29th and as of right now (the 28th), my order is sitting in American Eagle’s own warehouse and has been for over 24 hours with no movement, making on-time delivery impossible. When I contacted customer service regarding this matter, they tried framing it as a carrier issue, when in reality the package was not handed off in time. I also have a separate order where I paid for 2-day shipping that has not shipped at all.
Under FTC policy, businesses may not misrepresent shipping timelines at the point of sale and must ship within the timeframe promised or provide the customer with a clear option to cancel for a full refund. In this case, the expedited service sold at checkout was not honored, and I was never given the option to cancel once it became clear the delivery commitment would not be met.
Customer service was unable to explain why paid expedited orders were sitting idle in their own warehouse or take meaningful action to resolve the issue. Unless you count being told to wait for two weeks. Being told to wait up to two weeks for movement on an overnight order defeats the purpose of paying for expedited shipping entirely. Charging for premium shipping while failing to meet delivery commitments—and offering no accountability when it happens—has significantly damaged my trust in the brand.

Updated on 12/22/2025: This is a continuation from my last review. I had to keep calling on my refund. Today is Dec 22nd 2025, they finally decided to process my refund yesterday Sunday Dec 21st after calling, I’m even more annoyed they decided to refund me back on a digital Store credit card. First of all, I had no intentions of ever doing business here anymore and you decide to force me as a customer to spend my refund money on your items. You guys are horrible and thirsty for people's money. I’m so upset that they did this to me!
Original Review: Not happy with them. I placed an online order for 3 pairs of jeans, my normal size is a 8. All 3 pairs ran like a kid size not women size. Went to the store in person to return, got store credit, reorder the same items in size 10 online, only two fit ok, but still a little tight in waste. Had to return one pair back by UPS and they charge you $5.99 to return back. Anyway they received back the item on Dec 9th, today is Dec12th and they still have not issued my refund back! When I call customer service, she have the nerve to tell me 2 weeks for warehouse to process it, then 7 business days for them to give me back my money back! First of all, you have no rights holding onto to my money when I do not have your item anymore. PUT MY MONEY BACK WITHIN 3 BUSINESS DAYS.

I have recently visited American Eagle and was very satisfied with the overall experience. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the products and ongoing promotions. They greeted me as I entered offered assistance without being pushy and help me find the right sizes and styles. The store was clean well organized, and easy to navigate which made browsing enjoyable. Sales pricing were clearly marked there were several attractive deals such as buy one get one offers in seasonal discounts.
The staff explained how to get the best value including information about their reward system. Although some regular prices were high, the frequent deals make it possible to find good deals on quality clothing. The checkout process was quick and efficient with staff, ensuring all discounts were applied correctly and providing clear information about returns and exchange. overall, American Eagle offers excellent customer service helpful staff in competitive sales pricing, making in-store shopping, a pleasant and worthwhile experience. I appreciate American Eagle so much.. for all of their good deals. Especially Ava she is super nice and helped me out a lot. Love you guys.

I purchased online a pair of jeans for my daughter for a small sale price. Two days later that same pair of jeans was 40% off. The difference cannot be refunded because the original cost was a sale price. When pushed I was told I could return them, get a refund for the entire cost and then rebuy them at the sale price. Since I am handicapped this option will not work - drive to the store, wait in line and hope they have the style and size I need OR pay for postage and return the item and repurchase the jeans at the sale price. Case closed.
Then came a request for a review of my purchase, which I did. My review of course was not a positive one. Next came an email to confirm my email address in order to print my review. GUESS WHAT? I cannot validate my review - the site is not working and hasn't been for 3 days now. So in conclusion, I will not be getting a deserved refund and I cannot post a bad review. My business will go to another retailer for sure!

An absolute joke. I had to make a replacement order for an order that arrived damaged and with holes in it. The replacement was SUPPOSED to be shipped with 2 day shipping. Label was created 5 days ago and there's been NO UPDATES on the tracking at all and they have the audacity to tell me to wait 14 days???? Terrible customer service.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced! I ordered online 5 items, what they sent was 2 items not even on my order. I called to get my items sent to me that they failed to do and it was a nightmare. Couldn’t speak English enough to understand them and they had no clue what to do. It took over 3 hours and 3 different phone calls and in the end they acted like they were doing me a favor. They kept saying we aren’t responsible for lost or stolen items which this was not the case. They sent me someone’s items and mine went elsewhere. What a joke! I have bought from them for years but it’s about to come to a halt due to this incident.

I have been a customer for 25 yrs.. My last purchase was 2/25 I bought 5 pair of Jeans. I go to college sit in a classroom 2 days a week for 2 hrs and 2 days a week for 5 hrs.. Mind you sitting in a classroom, sitting in a car to drive home. Last week my jeans in the crotch area started to rip. so where the personals are I have now big tares in 2 pair of Jeans and the last 3 on the way. Being a college student budgets are tight.. My other jeans I wore in high school for 5 yrs which are two small now. Out lasted these Jeans.. Their quality in clothing has gone down hill. Even the shirts I purchased have tiny wholes. I was like what is going on? Asked my mom what's up? She was shocked. We will no longer be purchasing Jeans and shirts from American Eagle. The quality of clothing no longer last. 9 months for jeans. It's a shame.

Company has dishonest employees! I returned two pairs of jeans with tags and stickers still on them. I received an email that my returns being returned to me and no refund be given because there’s no tags attached to the jeans. Their employees took the tags off so that way their company can make more money! Absolutely ridiculous and backhanded!

Purchased a pair of khakis for one of my sons. AE charged my card and sent an email that it was going to ship. NEVER shipped. When I asked about it, they claim they don't keep order history that long, so there's nothing they can do about it. I am fine if they can't offer a refund because I appreciate my card info not being on file. However, the khakis are still in stock and they won't send the pair I ordered OR offer store credit. The order was not lost in the mail, delayed, or is in transit. It was never shipped, and they claim they cannot do anything about it.

I purchased jeans from AE online. I took them to a store the following day to return them because I didn’t like them at all. When I got to the store, the employee pointed out that there were no tags (they were sent to me this way). He refused to take them back. I have gone around and around with customer service for days and they refuse to accept the return because if no tags (that they didn’t have on the pants when they sent them to me!). They were clearly not worn and had the waist band tag and sticker on them. I would never order jeans from AE again which is sad because I have been shopping there for 25+ years. They are essentially stealing their customers’ money in the name of their “return policy” even when it was their own mistake. Now I am stuck with $60 jeans I don’t want.

I recently encountered a frustrating issue with American Eagle's customer service regarding a return for a pair of jeans from an online order. While trying on the jeans in a careful and normal manner, one of the paper tags accidentally ripped off. Importantly, the sewn-on waistband tag and the sticker tag remained fully intact, and the jeans were in pristine, unworn condition—clearly suitable for resale.
Understanding that returns typically require all tags to be attached, I reached out to customer service to explain the situation and request a one-time exception. This seemed like a reasonable ask, given the circumstances were beyond my control and did not compromise the item's quality or integrity. However, my initial request was denied, citing the return policy without further consideration.
I reengaged on the matter, reiterating the details and emphasizing that denying the return felt unfair, as it forced me to keep an ill-fitting item through no fault of my own. They responded by simply restating the policy, offering no flexibility. I then requested escalation to a manager, highlighting how this aligned with good-faith customer service practices. Unfortunately, in reply to this request, they simply informed me that after careful review, no exception could be granted, again prioritizing strict policy adherence over customer satisfaction.
I am deeply disappointed by these repeated denials, which demonstrate a rigid and unempathetic approach to what was a genuine and minor issue. As a long-time customer, I expected better from American Eagle, especially when the item was undeniably in unworn, resalable condition. This bad-faith enforcement of the policy has eroded my trust in the brand and makes me hesitant to shop here in the future. I hope the brand reviews this case and reconsiders their stance, as accommodating reasonable exceptions like this would go a long way toward maintaining customer loyalty.

***BEWARE*** AE's customer service has really gone to SH!T. I placed an online order for almost $400 for my daughter's school clothes. Not only was it shipped to the wrong address but it was delivered to a ACOMPLETELY DIFFERENT address. Obviously I understand that that might not be part of the control but it's how they've handled it. I've spoken to more than 10 different reps in the last two weeks. They keep telling me it's going to be escalated and that they're going to get to contact me back. I've yet to be contacted. I was just speaking with a customer service representative that kept interrupting me the point where I had to ask her to stop. I've been buying AE clothes since I was in high school and now I'm purchasing them for my daughter. What a disgrace this company has become.

Very poor customer service, they sent my online return back to me. Perfectly new pants. Nothing wrong with them. No refund. No credit. The pants apparently ran big. I bought normal size and they were too big. No response from calling in or sending email either. They don’t care about their customers. Stick with Gap and Abercrombie. Better quality and customer service. Wish I could give no stars.

So American Eagle thought it was a good idea to run an ad with some “great genes” actress pick? Cute. Nothing says “we’re out of touch” like trying to make eugenics chic. Back in 2010, AE was everywhere. If you weren’t in AE or Hollister, you weren’t part of the “cool” kids. I couldn’t afford much back then, so I had maybe one or two things. I always thought their clothes were overpriced, and seeing the materials now in person… They weren’t worth the hype. Fast forward 15 years: I can easily afford them now… And guess what? Still haven’t bought a single thing.
Like every other trend, AE became irrelevant over the years. Honestly, I thought AE had gone the way of most mall brands and filed for bankruptcy. Maybe this ad is just them trying to stay relevant with a little shock value. Or maybe it’s them showing their true colors. Either way, yikes. So yeah, I’ve never really given AE my money, and now I can proudly say I never will. Meanwhile, I’ll stick with GAP. Their jeans are unmatched, and if I don’t find what I want, I can hit Old Navy, Banana Republic, or Athleta. Plenty of options, none of the drama.

Went to the store to return a pair of pants I didn’t like. Ordered online and when they arrived, they didn’t have a tag on them. They wouldn’t accept the return without the tag because they had nothing to scan. They wouldn’t even take the sku I had found online. Not to mention the store manager was completely unprofessional in how she was handling the customer ahead of me and berated us who were waiting because we weren’t stringing in the right place. This was at the Millbury, MA location at Blackstone Valley tonight 8/19 at around 5:30. I’ll never shop any of the American Eagle brands again.

Writing a review on several items/jean pants that were purchased from their online site, the merchandises, a few different styles of pants purchased were absolutely beautiful, well designed, fit great, good quality. Highly recommend their clothing. They arrived within a short period of time as well. Very happy with their jean. If you need jeans, they are great.

I've been a customer of AE for over 20 years. I wanted to exchange a sweatshirt that was unworn, tags on with the receipt for an in-store credit and was unaware they changed their return policy to a number of days. I asked for a one-time exception because I didn't know about the policy change, and they said they couldn't do it. Several times said our hands are tied nothing we can do….in other words….move on…. I’ve taken parts of another review as similar issue...I'm done with AE and Aerie... after over 20 years. Word of advise AE stores are closing….for a reason….too late for a lot of people but step up for a few left…

I’m very disgusted with American Eagle because I bought a pair of jeans and they didn’t fit so I wanted to go to one of their stores and try them on because I don’t wanna go back-and-forth with the mailing so I sent them back the next day then the Warehouse got them back two days later so I contacted them. You have your Jeans. Put my money back. Oh no, we’re not putting your money back for two weeks. Let me tell you something. It’s 2025. Any other Place you buy clothing or order etc. soon as you return their merchandise, the money is put back in your account. I’m not doing business with these people anymore. They’re a bunch of crooks.

I'm very impressed with your ad and your stance, do not back down. That is the United States and the American way. With that being said, please consider getting Sydney Sweeney and Tiffany Spears, together in an ad. I fully expect something in return. That would be an ad for all ads to come, forget the FedEx ad back in the '80s. You can do it. Pernell, **

I spent 4 hours on the phone being sent back and forth one day trying to get them to help me make a purchase with the card that they just approved. I never even got the purchase, they couldn't even figure it out then I called a week later to try again and they immediately sent me to credit card which just sent me in circles on an automated machine that was completely useless and the girl hung up on me and didn't even let me explain. They're extremely rude and don't listen and they keep you on the phone acting like they can help you when they really have no idea how to help you. Nobody there knows what they're doing, extremely disappointed. I love their brand and their clothes but their service sucks.

American Eagle filled out my address automatically at checkout and listed it as the wrong address and couldn’t be changed. It’s been two weeks today since I’ve ordered and still no sign of the package. I try to get ahold of customer support and am met with silence or unhelpful answers from the AI helper. Seriously will never order from Them again. They never get orders right or on time and I used to spend so much money there. It even shows as delivered, but has not even seen my doorstep. I have camera footage that they haven’t been here also.

Absolutely terrible. Placed an order of five items all in stock. The shipping had it in my town, then showed it mis-shipped, then it was out for delivery. The last update shows it is in Florida (out for delivery) and I am in Michigan. Contacted customer service who offered a coupon but said they had to wait 14 days after it stopped moving for it to be considered lost. I noted that it was going to be delivered in Florida and was told no refund if it was delivered. Again Florida vs Michigan...not super close.

I had the most horrible experience at AE store in Memorial Mall, Houston today. I brought the return items with tags that I bought online with my PayPal account, but the CSR did not accept my return because my cards were not connected to my Apple Wallet?! What? I have never heard about something like that. I told them I bought through my PayPal, my cards attached to PayPal but they still insisted on my Apple Wallet. It’s extremely frustrating. Unprofessional and rude service. Never again will buy at American Eagle and will tell all my friends to avoid this unpleasant store where CSR are irresponsible, arrogant, and not knowing the return policy. 0 stars!!!

I am very disappointed in American Eagles jeans quality. I have been buying their men’s Air Flex jeans exclusively for many years now because of the comfort and fit. Recently I have had at least 4 pairs of jeans fail (rip) at the exact same seam in the crotch area. The rest of the jeans are fine and barely show wear. I reached out to customer service about the issue after several pairs failed and they were no help at all. I sent them pictures, receipts, batch numbers, etc. and after all of the email exchanges they got back to me and said they were unwilling to help. Nothing… No apology, no offer to replace them, not even a discount for another pair! They are not tight, they are comfortably loose, so that is not the issue.
I take good care of my clothes and do not overwear or overwash them. For the price you pay for their jeans I expect them to last much longer than they do. Needless to say I do not recommend their jeans, and will not be buying them any longer, especially after the horrible customer service experience. Very disappointing!
