I own about 6 pair of briefs my wife bought. In the first 2 or 3 wears it’s good. Then the material starts to stick my legs, it’s like it pulling my thigh hair and it becomes irritating. I use to love these Tommy Johns but I had to switch back to Polo.

Customer service is an oxymoron. It feels more like you are 'getting serviced.' Can't even change shipping with an agent. They force you to go cancel order then redo order. It's just a company that is run very ignorantly. They are completely disrespectful of customers time. Ridiculous long holds every time. I do not think this company is very honest.

I’m very disappointed with Tommy John as far as treatment of their loyal customers goes. You get routed to a call center which is not in the United States and are treated poorly on a legit ask. I had boxers I purchased and simply wanted to exchange them and pay the upcharge for the second skin ones that are much more comfortable. You’d think I asked the CSR for a cure for cancer with how baffled they were in handling my case. The rudeness which ensued afterwards makes me no longer want to be a customer of TJ anymore and I’m now stuck with $300 worth of boxers that I dislike and are more like spandex.

Tommy John men's underwear is often praised for its comfort and innovative design, but my experience with durability has been disappointing. Of the 14 pairs I purchased over the past two years, 8 have deteriorated, suggesting inconsistent quality. Given the high price, I thought the wear would be over a year.
We're sorry to hear of the issues you have been having with durability and we will make this right.

I purchased several pairs at the recommendation of my daughter. She said she was never wearing another brand after wearing Tommy John. I love them! I agree with her- I'm a convert! Their loungewear is also ridiculously soft and well made. Very happy with everything that I've purchased so far.
We're so glad to hear this! If there is ever anything we can assist with, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Anybody foolish enough to pay 40 odd dollars for a pair of underwear, made in countries that probably cost them $5.00 MAX to manufacture has a lot more money than brains!!! I could almost see them costing $12-$16 each. IF THEY WERE MADE IN America!!! People ** about the economy! Yet they continue to support products that are made in countries like China and others not far away!! Just 50-60 years ago China had a hard time feeding its people!! But now the average citizen can take vacations abroad!! Which is something that they didn't even dream about 50-60 years ago!! Just look around your home!! You'll be hard pressed to find anything that's NOT made in China!!!

I’m completely unimpressed by the durability of TJ men’s underwear. I find that it’s closer to disposable than long lasting. Therefore it should be much cheaper to buy. I’m old, so I’m used to underwear that lasts for years, not months. Very disappointing and I’ll have to switch brands now that the TJs are self destructing. Not happy.

The customer service for Tommy John’s is terrible. I tried to process a return online, which did not work. I called Customer Service and was on hold 25 minutes. Finally, the representative said she would email me a return form, which never came. I often rate a company on how well they treat their customers. Tommy John’s has terrible customer service and I will not be doing business with them again.

Updating my review to 3 stars as customer service reached out and offered to send me a pair of joggers in another style. I think the original product was a miss and should have been vetted more thoroughly, and I hope in the future they won't remove any negative reviews (my original review on their site has been restored). Appreciate that they took my comments here seriously.
Original Review: Nov. 29, 2023
Coming here to post a review because my original negative review of the product was deleted from Tommy John's reviews. (I did not post anything inappropriate/in violation of their guidelines, etc.). I simply gave an honest review of the product as you'll see below. Also, when you submit a review the stars are defaulted to 5, so even if you have something negative, make sure you check that. No wonder their products all have only 5 star reviews!
Review specific to the joggers - these do not have enough stretch in them and as a result fit strangely. Maybe I received a defective pair but I wear a medium in all other Tommy John bottoms (I've purchased many) and had to exchange for a large which still don't fit properly. They're weirdly tight through the butt and hips with very little stretch. I assumed since I sized up to the large after the medium didn't fit that they'd be fine so I cut the tags off and washed because they had sort of a musty factory smell. I hung them up to dry too - no dryer and the fit is still weirdly tight. Really wish I could return and get my money back - these are not worth the price tag.
We're sorry you have been disappointed with your purchase. We assure you that we do not hide negative product reviews and we would like to look into what occurred here and help with your joggers. We will be following up with you privately.

I have purchased many pairs of Tommy John underwear for myself and my family. The males report no issues, but my daughter and I have underwear that does not hold up with laundering. After 4 or 5 washes (on a gentle handwash cycle), they have lost their waist and leg elasticity and have holes in them. I loved them because they are so comfortable, but not worth the price if they don't hold up.
We're very sorry to hear of this and will make this right.

I bought a 3 pack of Air Briefs about a year ago. Because they show panty lines, I haven't worn them often. I've maybe worn and washed any single pair 10 times maximum. 2 of the 3 have totally fallen apart at the waistband, with washing on delicate, cold, in a lingerie bag and hang drying. Completely unacceptable for the price, my usual underwear (Knix, Pact, Commando) lasts me years with frequent wear.

2 of the 3 pairs ripped within 2 months due to friction between the legs, looks like cheap see thru material. Do not waste your money on these. They will not last!! Called tech support and won't do anything for me. Claims they are not made for active wear or sports. Apparently, not made for any movement it seems.

I’ve been wearing Tommy John underwear since 2015 and have spent hundreds of dollars on their underwear for myself and my wife. The underwear used to be so high quality and would last for years. Only recently I had to retire one of the first pairs I had, a pair of red cool cotton briefs my wife bought me for Valentine's Day 2016.
Over the last couple years the quality has greatly declined. My second skin briefs are lucky to last 6-8 months before holes start appearing and before long my family jewels are no longer inside my second skins. I’ve also noticed several higher-end retailers have stopped carrying them and then recently found them in a small end cap hidden in the back of a Target. It’s a shame what has been allowed to happen to such an originally great product. I can only assume the reason for their decline is moving manufacturing out of California to overseas.

I have purchased well over $500 in Tommy John underwear. Within a couple months, several had the fabric tear away from the waistband and the rest are full of holes. I am extremely disappointed, not only with the quality, but the company's lack of customer service. In a very short period of time, I've had to throw away several hundred dollars worth of Boxer Briefs from Tommy John. This is unacceptable.

I liked the feel of the cool cotton so I have ordered about 12 pair total. I use a garment bag when washing. Almost every single pair is now full of holes, excluding the original 3 I bought at first. I am a 77 year old man whose daily exercise includes 20-30 minutes of cross-country running. The Tommy John Second Skin undershirt has been my favorite running shirt until purchasing the new and improved Tommy John Second Skin undershirt. The improved version is not a second skin. It is just an undershirt. My skin rides against the new shirt whereas the old shirt moved with me. Upon examining the print on the inside back of the neck of the improved shirt I found the print is now easy to read. Black rather than the previous blue. I also found why the new and improved undershirt does not feel like a second skin. The improved version is 90% modal whereas the original version was 90% micro modal. The modal version stretches differently and rides on my skin differently when compared to my collection of original shirts.

Honestly, they feel great when you 1st wear them. I'll give them that for sure. However, the quality of the fabric could be better, and holes will start to appear after only months' worth of washing them. I followed what other reviews said, "Don't use fabric softener or put it into the dryer." No matter what, little holes started to appear, and from there, they got more prominent, and I had to throw them away. Very disappointed when you paid $100 bucks for three pairs.

I bought 4 pairs of second skin underwear for my husband in the size he wears in all other brands. He tried on one pair and removed the tags. They were too small. I contacted customer service for an exchange and after going back and forth through email, was told that they could not offer an exchange or return for items that have been tried on! How are customers supposed to know an item fits without trying it on???? I don't recommend ordering from this company, their products are overpriced and you obviously have to lie and say the items you need a different size in were not tried on!
We're sorry for your experience. While we cannot take back worn undergarments due to sanitary reasons, we do have a Best Pair Guarantee that allows our customers to try on one pair of underwear, and if it doesn't fit well, we can exchange them. We are going to follow up with you to see how we can assist further.

Well, the main claim that prompted me to purchase, never rolls, got busted moments after I put them on and sat down to put my socks on. Comfortable, but no more so than the ones 1/6th the price that were advertised by a bunch of guys in fruity costumes. Very disappointed given the advertisement claims and price. The only drawers I’ve found more disappointing are also heavily advertised from a company with a Minnesota city name.

My husband has 8 pair of Tommy John’s second skin underwear size M and they all fit perfect, they are however thin to the point of being see through. He recently purchased 4 pair of the Apollo style underwear and the M ones are super tight. He trusted they would fit so when he got them he took the tags off, tried one pair on and found out they are not sized the same as their other styles. You would think that a size M is a size M no matter what, but nope. He did a chat with them and they said to send them back for a refund or credit, they received them 3 days ago and he has NEVER heard anything from them so we will see how that goes.
We're sorry to hear of this. This is not typical and we will ensure that this is shared with our team. Please note that as stated on our returns policy page, it may take up to 10 business days for refunds to be processed.

Tommy John did contact me right away and their customer support was apologetic and more than willing to resolve the issue swiftly and to my satisfaction. Their response to my concerns gave me a renewed faith in this brand.
Original Review: July 3, 2022
I fell into the Tommy John underwear trap initially after being gifted a pair for my birthday. It felt like I wasn't wearing any underwear and that was what I initially loved. The fabric was light and airy and overall, the best pair of underwear I ever owned. I immediately ordered more, paying around $120 for 3 pair. That (in and of itself) proved how much I liked them because I had never purchased underwear that expensive before. It sounded insane at first, but I dove in and ordered them anyhow.
Within a week, the pair I got for my birthday started to tear from what looked like the material coming apart. I was now getting concerned, as my order was on the way. I ended up having to throw the first pair away. Within a few weeks, one of the other pair also started to come apart from a similar weakening of the fabric. I contacted Tommy John and after asking me questions about how I was laundering the underwear, they looked up my purchase and ended up sending me a replacement pair. It wasn't more than a month before it started happening again, so I decided this wasn't an isolated experience and excepted my losses and move on. Like everything, it all came down to the quality.
