I started my claim on July 19th in anticipation for my surgery on July 31st. Since then, it’s been an horrible experience! They kept wanting to put my claim through as FMLA, which I stated several times, I wanted Short Term Disability. They kept saying they were waiting on my Drs Certification and then they would be able to approve. The first person I was assigned to the next day, they went on vacation for a month with no out of office with a covering persons name, then when going through their ridiculous phone system that puts you on hold to just make you call you back anyways, I was sent right to the person who was on vacations voicemail. Had to go through that game how many times because it goes by your social security number. After weeks of this. My surgery was about to happen and they tell me the Drs paperwork needs to be signed after my surgery to be approved. So this happens, I get told I should be paid out on such and such date.

That date passes and now I reach out again and now being told that I’m missing some questionnaire I was never given or maybe I missed it, not sure but wish I was told weeks ago. So I’m back to leaving voicemails and emails with no responses. This place has an obvious intention and that’s not to pay anything out and to make the process impossible to do so. I’m a week out of surgery. I should not have to be dealing with this!!

Yeah, it would have been way less stress free to have just lived in chronic pain instead of getting the surgery I've needed for years. Somehow working with UHC was less painful. I can never reach my claims person, and she does not return mine or my doctor's calls. She called me once later in the day on a Friday after the doctor's office was closed, and I told her they had sent her paperwork already. She said it was incomplete, even though what was sent to her was what is legally acceptable in the state of Wisconsin.

The phone system is terrible! The number they give you for your claims adjuster isn't even their number, just a basic one where you have to waste your time going through automated bs. I'm afraid that I won't get approved for my fmla or short term disability at this point, and my employer is NOT lenient with missing days. I would agree with other reviewers, stay far, far away from any company that uses Matrix. I'm thinking at this point that I'm probably screwed seeing how things turned out for others. I need my paycheck to survive, and these people seriously don't give any amount of **.

Where do I even start. I’m on paid parent bonding leave given to me from my job thru Reliance Matrix. My daughter was born July 4th and I submitted proof of birth just hours after she was born. It’s now July 28th and my claim is still not approved and nobody answers the phone or calls back. I’ve left 5+ voicemails and never get a response back. This is not a good experience to say the least and this is the 1st 1 star I’ve ever left on a company. This is causing financial burden on me and my family and affecting my bills. I am very irritated at how Reliance Matrix handles everything. Don’t ever bother trying to go on leave or get disability because good luck waiting however long until they feel like approving or responding to anything. I’d give a 0 star if I could.

Working with this company now through my employer and I wished they would use literally anyone else, including a blind, paraplegic gibbon. At least the disabled primate would be able to empathize with the concerns and challenges of a sick or injured employee. The app and online experience is an absolute nightmare. Logging in is a chore and on the mobile app I have to check "agree" to their T&Cs every single time. Every other app gets this right, but not Matrix. Claim information is sparse bordering on nonexistent. Who is my case worker? What are next steps? What documentation is pending/received? None of this is in their user portal. I have questions? No FAQ on the site, no virtual assistant. "RITA" is basically just 3 pre-recorded videos and a couple decision trees. No contact info is provided on the portal except for a main catch-all phone number.

Calling them is an exercise in self-inflicted torture. First you will go through their automated system, then you will wait and wait and wait. No matter when you call during working hours, you will encounter a "higher than normal call volume" and eventually the system will force you to leave a callback number, hang up on you, and then will never call you back. The forms process is obtuse. Certain forms will be delivered to your user portal and can be signed digitally, others will not and must be manually filled out and uploaded. Why? You will also get a message on the same day your intake packet is generated saying they haven't gotten info from your Dr...WELL NO KIDDING, YOU JUST GENERATED IT. I even visited my Dr. a week before filing a claim with MAM and let them know, and it was still almost 2 weeks before my Dr. got any communication from them.

I also filed for Short-Term Disability and they only granted FMLA, no feedback as to why, no opportunity to prove that STD was what I needed to take, and no recourse. I've never once spoken directly to my case worker. I only know their name from the form letter they uploaded with my claim packet. I do not have a direct line of communication with them either. All the contact info they give is the same main number and employer-specific email address that everyone else uses.

The stress, uncertainty, and bureaucratic nonsense this company puts sick people through borders on downright evil. A quick Google search reveals that they've been the subject of multiple class action lawsuits from their own employees over misclassification, unpaid overtime, and other worker's rights issues. If they treat their own employees this way, how do you think they're going to treat you? This company is a prime example of how ruined the medical industry is and how little these companies care about you. I honestly want to see a class action come out on behalf of consumers. I would join in a heartbeat and use all my resources to help see this company completely shut down and their leadership team jailed. What they're doing to sick people is unconscionable.

it's a shame that this company boasts about their integrity and professionalism in dealing with people whose lives are interrupted by a disability. I will never be able to work again to to my cancer and various surgeries that prevent me from doing so. They have no ethics in dealing with my case and keep lying and cutting off my monthly payments. They are completely a disgrace to anyone with a career ending injury and consistently lose all paperwork sent to them and treat me like a loser on the phone. You couldn't pay me any amount of money to be proud to work in such a position. I wrote to them in such this manner and stated that they probably can't wait for me to die. But as I wrote to these lowlife people, I plan on being around a long time and will be willing to help any one who needs help dealing with this immoral company.

It's a shame that someone like me has to be treated like a worthless human being. I cannot say enough about how these people have treated me and still do. An American disgrace of a company that's supposed to help people that can no longer work. Thousands of dollars I have had to pay over the years due to the lack of records they claim were missing and other unprofessional tactics they use to deny my rightful claim, which is not that much. Right now I have to hire another attorney due to some lame tactic they just put on me. No check the last two months and still no letter explain the details.

I received two rude and unprofessional phone calls and have yet to see a letter explaining what I am penalized for or what their reasoning is about my so-called violation. I would back down and never give up to this corrupt company and their unprofessional staff. I can't believe how low this company will go to ruin a hard-working person's right to claim disability. Thanks for the help of my friends and even my doctors to help me get by. The overall common attitude people have about this company is the same. They are the worst company anyone has had to deal with and they don't care. How this company is still around is amazing considering all the disgusting tricks they use to deny us benefits. I made sure all my medical documentation was in along with MRI results and my surgery date. Oh forgot to mention the caseworker denied my STD after 1/13/2025. And with all the information provided my caseworker still denied my STD with upcoming surgery next week!!!! It’s this why we pay for this and they just deny you.

They do not respond to emails nor calls. Their process is horrible with no follow up. My pregnancy disability turned into short term disability of which all my providers returned documents to support this claim. The 1st lady received the documents then tells me I am being transferred to another lady. The 2nd lady never contacted me and then I realize they transferred me to a 3rd person. This 3rd lady claims she didn't receive the documents from my providers so she snail mailed me letters 2 weeks ago asking me to get these from my doctors (again). I was completely blindsided by the snail mail while the first lady faxed AND emailed me a copy of the requested documents. Matrix process is completely inefficient and inconsistent.

It has been 3 months and yet, nothing has been processed. After several emails asking for a status, the Examiner tells me the review is past due, due to the holidays (Direct email from them provided below). How does this even happen!?! They blatantly disregard their own due dates while giving their clients extremely short deadlines. At this point, I don't even know if my claim will be approved or denied while giving up all my vacation hours in 2024. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!

This company needs to be put out of everyone's misery. Theirs for the poor ethical practices they embrace and those that are forced to deal with because of an employer. I had a ridiculous time with FMLA while my Mom was in hospice care at home and instead of focusing on my Mom and being with family while Mom was dying, I had to deal with them and the demands of Mom's records for approval of the FMLA. Personally, I felt this alone was uncalled for as they had no financial skin in the game.

On the heels of that, a separate FMLA and short-term disability came up for my own medical issues. I kept getting the runaround and my doctor's office was and is going crazy as Matrix keeps saying that they have not received the faxes of my records and keep changing the fax number. Benefits, not handouts but benefits, that are guaranteed by our employer are very difficult to get them to move on. I have gone as long as 7 weeks without a benefit payment putting my rent and other bills at risk. I now email everything for documentation and time stamp purposes and I recommend that everyone do this as well so if you are given wrong or false information, you have documentation of the "guidance" you received.

I had been advised in an email from them that they have 24-48 hours to respond and believe me, I hold their toes to the fire on it and all communication is kept in a chain or thread and I point it out to them as needed. This also documents the amount of time it takes them to respond. I have had to resort to being downright rude and I hate the fact that this has had to happen. By nature, I am not a rude person as it is stressful and exhausting only adding to my medical issues. All of this has been going off and on since April 2024 and due to medical circumstances, this unfortunately will not end soon. They need to be looked into legally because I cannot believe that this inferior treatment is legal or ethical.

This company is a fraud! Before accepting a job offer, make sure to inquire if they use Matrix Absence Management. They will withhold part of your pay and it’s extremely difficult to contact anyone. Their responses are deceptive, and they may pretend not to understand your concerns. David **, a manager, does not return calls, and Sara **, a claims supervisor, also fails to answer calls. They do not respond to emails either. The entire operation is dishonest. Avoid this company at all costs. McKesson Employee and McKesson's Human Resource listens to them!
