Horrible Customer Service. I work for a provider and we have to call sometimes for more clarification on claims. By far the worse claims customer service department. Not only are wait times long but once your call is answered the person hangs up or act like they can't hear you and hang up. Even though the automated system heard me perfectly. Some representatives are extremely rude but I don't want to say all of them because some offer great customer service after that long wait time. It's very frustrating being on hold for a long time and being transferred a few times to conclude with a rude representative.

You get passed around to so many different numbers just to make an appointment. It’s like they make it harder on you when you’re the one paying hundreds each month to be covered by them. The worst ever, trust me man. It took me days just to make a vaccination appointment. The process is grueling and makes you want to just pay out of pocket because the process to even do anything health related is long and confusing. If you’re in this insurance I suggest to never get sick lol. It sucks out here but it’s the cheapest for my family. Still it sucks.

My extreme dissatisfaction with Health Net's handling of my insurance policy, which was cancelled due to a failure in Health Net's automatic payment system. I promptly made a manual payment and contacted Health Net to reinstate my insurance. I was informed that reinstatement would occur within 24-48 hours. While I acknowledge I didn't call to confirm again, I trusted this information, assuming it was a simple error on Health Net's part. However, I discovered my insurance was never reinstated in April.

Despite multiple calls, I received conflicting information from the agents. Eventually, I was instructed to make payments for March through June to reinstate. Repeatedly, Health Net agents told me I needed Covered California's approval for reinstatement. Covered California confirmed they sent the necessary approval to Health Net. Yet, Health Net subsequently denied reinstatement due to non-payment. This entire ordeal stems from Health Net's failure to process my automatic payment. This error, compounded by inconsistent information, has resulted in me losing my opportunity to secure alternative insurance within the 60-day special enrollment period.

Worst experience ever with a health insurance company—especially when it comes to billing. I was assigned a primary care provider, and HealthNet confirmed that this doctor was in-network. I even received an updated insurance card listing this doctor as my primary care physician. Now I'm receiving bills from that same doctor because HealthNet is claiming he is out-of-network. How does that make any sense? It’s incredibly frustrating and time-consuming to deal with their customer service, which is difficult to communicate with due to a language barrier. WORST health insurance company. You’re better off paying an extra $10–$20 for Blue Shield. I definitely won’t be enrolling again. Please avoid this insurance—it feels like a scam for the price you’re paying.

Terrible! I can not find a primary care Dr that accepts this insurance. I'm actually on the line with them now. I have been on hold with for an hour. If I want to be seen I have to go through the ER. The number that was provided on my card for a PCP is not contracted with Health Net. Nobody is contracted with them. I found 1 pharmacy and 1 urgent care and no primary care provider. I can not be seen at the urgent care for my problem but I can rack up a bill at the ER that tells me they found nothing and to follow up with primary care. If the urgent care can't see me because they don't have equipment for testing and the ER tells me to go to primary to get a referral to a specialist but no primary exists what do I do. Thank you Health Net. I just have one question. If you knew that I do not have provider options in my area why would you take my money.

This review is specifically for Health Net Dental customer service. I called today, April 2, 2025 during the afternoon. The lady who answered the phone was obviously working from home, which I have nothing against. However, one must be professional when working from home. I could hear a child crying at first, then a loud tv and kids playing. She was very unfriendly, rude and unprofessional and rushing through the call.

I have had Health Net as my medicare supplemental insurance for over ten years. They have always been excellent with coverage and customer up until last year 2024. The agents all quoted different monthly payment amounts and I have been paying around $295 per month and sometimes more $350. I have never missed a payment. Well today I received a letter that they didn't an ambulance service and some other medical services. According to HealthNet I don't have medical coverage with them. I recently paid for six months upfront and don't understand what is going on. Their agents are very rude and some of them have difficulty with English. I am also complaining to Medicare and will complain to the state for insurance on behalf of Health Net. I also will look for another insurance company .

The way I feel absolutely validated at their 1.2 rating on this. Health Net is the absolute WORST insurance company, I can’t believe what they do is even legal!! I’ve been with them for over a year (it’s the only insurance offered by my work) and I have not been to a primary doctor ONCE. I wait long periods for appointments, just for me to show up and the offices tell me “your insurance won’t cover this appointment”. I’ve called multiple times to have them switch me to an actual place that will accept my insurance and they send me list of places and again.... None take my insurance!!! Not only are they responsible for my late delay of medical attention, they are also wasting my money, my time and my gas.

Don’t even waste your time calling their customer service line… every customer service rep is incompetent. This company is either 1. A joke. 2. A scam or 3. Owned by someone who has no idea what they’re doing. Please, please do yourself a favor and DO NOT get health net… It’s not worth the cost. I will definitely be switching back to Kaiser even if it costs me $200 more a month.

If you can get any other insurance, do. This place uses offshore servicing agency who don't understand how to speak to you, let alone medical needs for even the easiest issues. When looking at authorizations, they don't even appear to read their own forms fully. It is clear they do not care about clients and are trying to deny all claims possible, even in life risking situations. They should not be allowed to manage government Medi-Cal funding. They are clearly taking advantage of the situation and then using offshore phone agency to send those funds to.

My call started with the typical prompts that says they cannot find my account, this is standard for each call I have made. Then they said I called the wrong department and needed to be transferred to Membership, I read the number back to them from both the back of my card where it says Membership and my phone and they told me they were not sure what the number should be or why it might be wrong??? Twenty minutes later after getting transferred, they say sorry for the 20th time and then tell me they can't help me without billing dates from each appointment getting billed incorrectly.

I explained that ALL of my doctors and my daughter's doctors are sending bills to me stating we owe money because insurance has not been paying them correctly. I say check any bill, it doesn't matter, they are all having problems. I am told there is nothing that can be done with a specific bill and each one will need to be addressed separately. I gave up, I was not expecting to have to give each and every statement to them, being that it is a universal issue it seems like a problem from Healthnet's side but they would not look into it. When I talk with my doctors they are asking me to please call HealthNet because they can't get them to pay.

After three doctors attempted, they then called me and said that the entire huge medical group (turned out that was a lie as well, at least currently, not sure what is in the works for 2025). 3. Two different people promised to call me back, one even made an appointment window. Liar #2 even said she promised she was not like Liar # 1 and would call me back. Guess what? She didn’t.

    4. Did not notify me that my policy was cancelled, I found out when I signed on the pay my bill. Thanks. Now my family has zero coverage and so had no notice,

Most shocking - my husband has been trying to get an ID card from them for almost a year and these idiots can't seem to send it to the correct address. They also wouldn't tell him his ID number. The only reason he has been able to get any care for the past year is that I received my card and his number is similar to mine. The level of incompetence of this company is astounding. Reviewed July 1, 2024

HealthNet is a scam. Do not, do not, DO NOT sign up with them. It's shocking that they're an option on the Covered California exchange. This entire organization appears to be one big con designed to milk consumers/the state for monthly premiums while preventing customers from ever accessing any healthcare thanks to a maze of red tape and bureaucracy. I'm on an HMO plan. When I first signed up, the primary care doctor I was assigned no longer worked at the clinic, and none of the doctors there would see a patient younger than 65. After roughly an hour on the phone with a HealthNet call center in India, they were able to assign me a new primary care doctor. I went to him about a couple of ongoing health problems, and he wrote me "referrals" to see two specialists, an orthopedic surgeon and a urologist. The "referrals" consisted of the word "UROLOGIST" and "ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON" scrawled on two sheets of paper.

At the front desk, the receptionist couldn't find any specialists in network and told me to look on the HealthNet website. HealthNet's website is buggy, slow, unintuitive, and looks like it was built in 2005. Finding a specialist on their site has taken weeks, because every time I find a provider, call their office, get through their phone tree, and actually start giving my insurance information to a real human, they inevitably tell me, "Oh, we actually don't take that insurance." Even though I only found that provider through HealthNet's website which TOLD ME THEY WOULD TAKE MY INSURANCE.

On the rare occasions when I'm able to find a specialist who actually will take my insurance, they ask me for an authorization code. And I say, "My doctor gave me a recommendation, not an authorization code." And they tell me to have my primary care doctor's office send them an authorization code. So I call my primary care doctor's office and ask them to send an authorization to the specialist.

The response there is always the same: They first refuse to send an authorization, claiming that I don't need one. When I press them, saying that I've been told I need an authorization, they tell me, "Okay, but the authorization department people have already gone home for the day, so you'll have to try tomorrow." If I follow up the next day, they'll say, "Okay, we'll have them send the authorization to the specialist." And then they just don't do it. They don't send anything - no matter how many times I check back with the specialist's office, they've never received an authorization.

This whole process I've described has happened again and again, and it's eaten up so many hours of my life that it may as well be a part-time job. Sifting through different providers on HealthNet's janky website, listening to warbling hold music, navigating byzantine phone tree menus, arguing with surly receptionists over paperwork I wasn't given and codes I don't have. I've been a HealthNet victim for nearly three months now and I still have yet to see any of the specialists I need to see for my medical concerns, which are growing worse for lack of treatment. I have filed grievances, I have reached out to customer support, and they have done nothing. Don't forget: I AM PAYING FOR THIS EXPERIENCE.

The only takeaway from this is that HealthNet is a scam. The company is run by crooks who will take your money and let you get sicker and sicker while they run you around in circles to keep you from getting care. Stay far away.

Today is April 30 and someone entered in my cancellation to be effective today, which was not correct. The representative I'm speaking with has looked up my record and confirmed that I indeed requested a May 1 cancellation, and she has no explanation why the cancellation was entered for April 30.

So now I am spending my valuable time waiting for someone to fix the problem so I can have my one day of coverage reinstated in case I have a heart attack or get into a car accident before the end of the day. Absolutely insane! The kicker is that I had saved up Health Net points for merchandise or a gift card, which I was planning to use today before my coverage ended.
