I have been with GEICO for over 10 years. In the past year the customer service has gone downhill! They are rude, degrading. They have raised my rates without notify me. When you ask about it they dance around the question, won't let me speak to a supervisor, hang up. I had to start writing down whom I spoke with their agent ID and what time. They are unprofessional and will argue with the customer. I have written a letter to the Better Business about the horrible experience I have had with them. Hopefully it will help others not to have to deal with the unprofessional agents they have and to get their act together. They overcharged me over $250 and if I was not diligent on my account they never would of said anything. 11 days later I am still waiting for my refund and being treated awful.

They promise me that my rate will decrease due to moving to a better area with less criminality rate and because I opt to buy rental insurance too. My surprise was that instead of decrease they increased to $20 more for month. They explained was due to life cost increased. I never had any accidents, not any ticket and had Geico for many years. Also when I requested a correction in the owner address of my rental insurance after keep me in the phone for 30 minutes correcting address, 30 minutes later they didn't send it via PDF instead via Window Media Player. Have to call again to redo it. There is no direct connection to services. They send you to Global Life Insurance, Liberty Mutual and other services. I decided to change to another insurance.

I recently was in an accident, Geico proudly reviewed my policy every chance to tell me I had accident forgiveness and several discounts for being a good driver. Excellent customer for last 15 years I been a customer, well the day came I had an accident my payment went from 140 to 278 a month no accident forgiveness, was sent back to underwriting after I pointed out the fact my premium was not supposed to go up I was supposed to be forgiven....not so. Geico does not have accident forgiveness. They are some lying crooks...that lie and steal from their customers.... Just recently I would have never said this but after the treatment I received while going through a very traumatic experience my insurance company FAILED, lost my respect.

When you get renters insurance from Geico they do not disclose that you are actually getting insurance through ASSurant. You don’t find out until after you have paid for your policy. You sign up for insurance, pay your premium and then at some point in the future be it hours or days you get email instructions for setting up your online account with ASSurant. This is unethical, dishonest and misleading and should not be legal (if it even is). Geico should be sued for this manipulative and deceptive marketing.

Their prices cannot be beat however their communication in the application process when done by mail because they find some reason and then never following up after you repeatedly fill out all of their paperwork to let you know everything is okay and you can go ahead and purchase the policy. Extremely frustrating for the consumer and the salesman as well because they are losing customers who are not as determined as I was when many other insurance companies offer to insure me and State Farm did immediately the day I purchased my car while it took Geico 4 months to answer whatever concerns they thought were warranted because I had simply moved and my address changed!
Aside from this the money I saved from every other company is astounding!! I have even had salespeople from car warranty programs ask me who I was with when I told them how much I was paying and said they were going to give Geico a call! Definitely worth your time to give them a check on your own rate. Their renters insurance is also less than competitors. I can't speak to the claims process because I have never had an issue.

Geico has 100% customers service! They answer questions and make you understand what you are covered for. I appreciate Geico for their valuable information! Our home is protected by the coverage from Assurant insurance and the rates are very low. Every month is less than $20 for me and my family. Everyone should have renters insurance for their home. Very important!

Not what I expected of a Geico affiliate. If you want to cancel a policy with Assurant it will automatically take you the current date. It gives no option to go to a past date when you contracted with a different carrier. Not that my refund will be big but pretty disgusting you're tricked into using the current date. Try to find a live person to speak to.... Took a lot of searching - shame on you Geico and Assurant. Phone # I was finally able to speak to (probable outsourced) person live - 800 358-0600. Good luck renters clients.

I have been with Geico with last 5 years. I am satisfied with their product and service although I have never did any claim with them. I took Assurant condo insurance as a group policy. This year my house got damaged due to neighbour's fire and the real face of Assurant came out. When I reported the incident to them assurant told me they'll open a claim and it takes 24 hours to open it. Next day when I called the rep told me no claim has been opened. I requested them to open it again and this time they gave a claim number and told a adjuster will be assigned and didn't gave me any details about my policy what will be covered and told, "Your adjuster will tell you." During this time I moved to a hotel with my family not sure how much can I spend.
After 3 days the adjuster finally called me and told me about the limits. He told me, "You can stay in hotels and submit bills and he'll issue a check." After two week that adjuster stopped responding to my calls and emails. When I reached out to assurant they told, "A new adjuster has been assigned to your case." When I asked for his information they only gave his name and not his email address or phone number. I never got any communication from assurant about this new adjuster. Almost a month has passed me living in a hotel with family with two kids and this insurance company is also not helping me out. Very bad experience.

The process was very simple. They contacted me with Assurant who takes care of the bill. The monthly bill is part of my GEICO statement and notified when due. Been with the GEICO since 1995 and renters insurance since 2018.

All I can say is that I was able to get insurance with GEICO and I have car insurance with them. I've been very pleased with their car insurance and their renters insurance was very reasonable priced. I haven't had to issue a claim so I'm not sure if it easy or hard.

I have had Geico auto insurance for many years. In 2010 I became disabled and had to search a more easier way to pay my bills. I called Geico, they explained how since Im a renter I could bundle auto and renters to save. I did just that. Have been bundling ever since and still have. Ever had any complications. They have a lot of discounts which help out too. They are the best for me.

I would not recommend them. As a company, GEICO is fine and I have never had an issue? But I have has the need to file a claim. The problem is that they partner with extremely unethical renters insurance companies like Assurant.

Garbage customer service. SCAM. Waited nearly a month after our inspection to say they were going to cancel our insurance DURING A PANDEMIC if we didn't get thousands of dollars of unnecessary repairs to our home. Told us our deck required rail. By law it does not, new build, legal. Tried to cancel our insurance over it. They are incompetent. Said the payment that they took INSTANTLY from our account would be 7-10 business days to refund. SCAM ARTISTS!

Buyers Beware - GEICO is not the provider of the renters insurance they sell, they are a reseller of Assurant Renters Insurance. If you look up Assurant, they have terrible reviews because they have terrible customer service. GEICO will not cancel the Renters Insurance they sell you, you must go through Assurant. Assurant does not make it easy to cancel. You cannot cancel on the phone or on their website. You must cancel in writing and that they make difficult and delay responses. Meanwhile they keep collecting your monthly fee even three months after you informed Geico you moved out of that residence.

To whomever is out there looking for renters insurance please don't go to GEICO AKA ASSURANT. IT’S A SCAM!!! I had a bad experience with them. My home was burglarized and I had coverage they took almost a month to try to settle. The Adjustor never called me I was the one always calling. Very unprofessional. Treated me badly, poorly, and unfairly. I always been on time with my payments. They claim they cover you but they really don't cover your home or your belongings if something happen. It's a RIP OFF!
Don't waste your time or money with them even if you show them ownership of your things they try to low ball you and have you make an inventory list with the items, condition, how long you had them and where it's from just for them to make up their own sources , all these taxes, a different replacement cost than what it cost today and to not pay you for whatever may have happened to your items!!!! It's a third party not GEICO and the amount they give you will not cover your home if something was to happen. Please beware. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I WILL BE CONTACTING A LAWYER AND ALSO CORPORATE!!!!

Since I already had car insurance through Geico I thought I would bundle my renter's insurance with them. My apartment requires it. I did not understand at the time that it’s a completely different company. Since it was so cheap I decided to do it anyway. I did the automatic payments so I was never late. When I went to renew I noticed it went up about 15.00, which I thought was ridiculous! The only thing they offered to lower it was if I changed my policy basically getting less coverage. The cancellation process is atrocious, you have to go through about 4 screens to cancel. I ended up getting a policy with Nationwide at a better rate than I was originally paying and more coverage! Thinking about changing car insurance too. Geico should really do their own and not be shady going through other companies!

We have bought renters insurance thru Geico, had a flood from a rain storm in the basement of our home ruining all the furniture and electronics that were down there. We get a call back and say that it’s not covered because it’s seepage! Seepage my ** it’s flowing in from walls floor everywhere!
Can’t keep the water out. Was dry when we put everything down there, stayed dry until we got massive rain all in one day! Stay clear. Go to Farmers or State Farm. Do not I repeat do not use Geico! Not only are we canceling the renters with them but our cars as well. Run as fast as you can and don’t look back! Crooked thief’s is what they are! Won’t allow me to post pictures or I would be happy to do so.

Ironic that CA offers the title above to select. I am seriously disappointed in Geico. I had auto insurance with them for years and decided to look into renters insurance. I called Geico and was told to get the quote through the Geico website. I filled out the online form and then called to clarify the details. I was referred back to the online quote which was not specific in the first place and when I did it was no longer accessible. I requested the quote in writing and was told that was not possible. Because I trusted Geico I used my primary email for the quote and it was the only site I went to. Since then I have been attacked with intrusive insurance advertisement phishing emails that take over and freeze my PC when attempting to unsubscribe. GEICO IS A NAME I NO LONGER TRUST!

I foolishly signed up for renter's insurance through GEICO- however I found out too late that the sales rep at GEICO had flip-flopped my coverage amounts for my Personal Property and Personal Liability. I made it clear 3+ times throughout the sales sign up process that I needed to protect the value of my storage unit and that I did NOT care about Personal Liability, ONLY PERSONAL PROPERTY. The sales rep probably misquoted and later on flip-flopped the coverage values to keep the price I was quoted, thinking I would never have to file a claim and therefore never find out.
9/10 times this would probably be true, however last month I went to my storage and discovered a fire sprinkler head had burst and almost all of my contents were destroyed. After assessing it as a total loss, weeks later the claims adjuster is barely responding and dragging his feet with my claim, even though the claim is for A FRACTION of what it should be. Do NOT trust Homesite Insurance, or GEICO for that matter.

STAY AWAY!!! Their Insurance is CHEAP for a Reason, They don't pay anyone to actually call you back when you need to make a claim. Fire took my entire house and everything I own Sunday 08/05/18 - called and filed claim same day. They refused to respond or call back until Wednesday 8/7/18, not even a manager cared. Still unable to remove any of my items - and they are rotting under 6 inches of water and soot and ash. Restoration guy said nothing will be salvable now that everything has sat in the water and been stormed on. In the time of need, they don't give a ** about you. I will never use them again and everyone I know will not use them either, as it will be a life goal to have them switch from this Terrible company.

Now contacting a lawyer, and getting a hold of the insurance fraud line here in Missouri. This is complete and total lying and misrepresenting and stealing of hard working people's money. We got renter's insurance right before we left from New Jersey and moving to Nevada we spoke with someone and they told us we will be covered for damages. I asked specially about the moving company issue and he told me not to worry because everything will be protected. We clearly stated we will be moving and I felt like we are scammed. We paid upfront and we told him we are moving then all the sudden we found out they randomly canceled our renter's insurance without our consent and they kept telling us on the phone that we got letters in the mail but we never did. No one informed us on anything.
We called to make a claim because the moving company damaged our things and now all the sudden we do not have renter's insurance. I feel so scammed and manipulated and lied to. These people make me want to end my life because I’m tired of the lies I am getting and they cannot own up to their own mistakes. We paid in full for renter's and canceled our car policy ONLY with them because we found a cheaper! Not ever did we say cancel our renter's insurance. This is so unprofessional and now I’m out SO MUCH MONEY AFTER THE GUY ON THE PHONE ASSURED ME I WILL BE OKAY WITH THE MOVE AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS.

Have autopay turned on. Geico raised 6 months rate in August 2016 from 900 to 2700 and continued to raise rate thereafter to reach 3100 every 6 months. I did not realize it until I moved to a new home and had to get new home policy. The monthly charge to my bank account was more than 500. I called to complain and they said that is the current going rate. I called three other companies and got 1400-1500/6 months rate. I canceled Geico and went to a new company. If you put your trust in Geico to give you a competitive rate, they will screw you every time and will continue to steal money from your account.

I got a renewal notice and thought it was fraud from American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida. It wasn't until I saw Geico in very tiny letters that I realized it was rental insurance renewal. The premium is much higher this year and I cannot get any human being on the phone. Call the number on the bill and all you get are a circle of prompts with no way to talk to a person. Call Geico's number and it routes you back to the bank's circular system. I'm not renewing. How could I ever get help if I can't even get a person on the line to talk about a renewal? Awful. Geico should not have their name associated with this group.
