What is Fidelity Life?

Fidelity Life offers life insurance policies to provide financial protection and cash payouts to loved ones. Life insurance policy options include term life, permanent life and final expense. Fidelity Life offers fast approval policies, which can be approved and active on the same day. Additionally, no medical exam options are available on term life insurance policies. Fidelity Life has a life insurance calculator online to help you decide how much coverage you need.

How does Fidelity Life work?

Fidelity Life quotes start with basic questions about your age, personal information, employment status and overall health. After comparing quotes and life insurance options, you may have to provide information about things like career and lifestyle. You can finalize your quote online or by phone with an agent.

After a quote is finalized, you can be approved and have coverage kick in the same day. Once your policy is in place, you pay a premium (typically monthly) to maintain coverage. If you die while the life insurance policy is in force, your beneficiaries will receive a cash payout. Typically, this is a tax-free sum that can help with large expenses, student loans, credit card debt or other financial obligations.

Fidelity Life products

Fidelity Life offers multiple life insurance policies and an accidental death benefit:

  • Term life: Term life is one of the simplest forms of life insurance policy, but don’t let that fool you — it’s also the most popular. It holds a consistent rate for a defined period of time, known as the term. Terms range from 10 to 30 years. When the policy expires, you can renew for another term but at a higher rate.
  • Permanent life: Permanent life insurance accrues cash value and provides lifelong protection. Premiums are often higher than term life insurance premiums, but the cash value is an added benefit. Two permanent life insurance types are whole life and universal life. Whole life provides a fixed death benefit with guaranteed cash value. Universal life insurance allows you to adjust the benefit and premium payments over time.
  • Final expense: Final expense insurance offers a lower death benefit, intended to cover funeral and burial costs, end-of-life medical care and other debts and end-of-life costs.
  • Accidental death: Accidental death policies offer coverage without medical exams for death by accident or unexpected life event. Accidental death policies can stand alone or supplement a life insurance policy.
  • Life insurance riders: Life insurance riders are optional add-ons to a life insurance policy. Examples are child insurance, family accidental death, return of premium or accelerated death benefits. Riders increase the premium cost but also increase the payout.

Keep in mind that these are just initial estimates, and premiums can fluctuate after a quote is finalized. Factors affecting the premium price include life history, overall health, lifestyle and age. Many policies are approved and become active on the same day. Some don’t require a medical exam.

Those who benefit most from life insurance policies are beneficiaries who could incur your credit card debt, student loans and mortgage loans upon your death. If you meet those criteria, Fidelity Life is worth considering.

      Reviewed Aug. 9, 2025

If I could leave a zero, I would. Around the first of June, I received a call from a representative of Fidelity Life. We had just purchased some property and we're up in age, so we thought it would be a good idea to have the cushion. However, with our age they don't pay off the loan. Anyway, a day or two after agreeing to the policy, we discussed it further and decided we didn't need it.

I called Fidelity Life and spoke to a representative who said my husband's policy was already terminated (I assumed because of his health) but that she would cancel mine. Long long story short, Fidelity Life had already taken one payment out of my bank account and I assumed they would reimburse me. After 4 calls to them about my policy, it was finally canceled and reimbursed. Then, they took out another payment for my husband. I spoke with two different representatives and finally got the policy canceled. But they will not reimburse me for my husband's policy saying they didn't get notified properly. I don't trust them any further than I could throw them.

Whole life policy bought, in effect well over two years. Person died and medical examiner ruled it an accident (there was NO accident rider). Claims department wrote beneficiary wanting a "police report (there was none) or a medical examiner's report(lengthy process to get one)" before they would pay out the claim. In the state in question, legally they can't withhold payment on a whole life policy that is going to pay out regardless. This is an insane way to handle a claim. Filed a complaint with the Department of Insurance and Fidelity Life paid out the claim.

I went through Roy to get the Fidelity Life. He told me what the insurance was about and what was good for me. Because I had insurance from my mom and he was comparing them. I looked at it and, indeed, it was good for me. But when it didn't go right as I was paying, he told me, "They’re going to give you all your money back, plus the money you already got from them," which they did. When I was about to start another insurance and it was going to cost more, he said, "No, don't even go for it." So, he tells me what's not good.

A representative from Fidelity Life told me about the insurance and I did like the coverage and I liked how my premium was. And so, I decided to get insurance. The process was she asked me questions and I answered them. She took my debit card number and said she would send me the information. There was some kind of paper I had to fill out so they could have consent to take that money out every month of my check. I never got that paper. I told her to go ahead and take the money out next month since they have my credit card information.

It's difficult communicating with them because, I guess, I wasn't speaking to her correctly or she didn't understand what I was saying. And I was very upset because she kept calling me and telling me if I was going to do the insurance again. And I was saying, "Do the insurance why? I thought you guys were gonna take it out?" Well, she told me she would take out the next month, that she would take out two payments, but they didn't do that.

I lost the money that I had to pay that one month to get into the insurance. And I lost the money two months that they took out for the insurance. But the third month, they didn't take it out and I don't understand. I asked for a refund, but the person that told me that I owed them said they don’t do that. They're not gonna give me a refund because of their mistake.

So when I got the information to redo it again, I never filled it out. I took them and I was considering it, but I just never reapplied.

I went with Fidelity because they managed my 401(k) and my pension, and they happened to call. I thought the process was easy and simple. Normally, when you try to get life insurance, they go through a whole long-drawn-out thing back and forth, and their process was easy and simple. So, I would give them a good grade on life insurance. Their reps were very knowledgeable. The gentleman I spoke with was very good.

A broker cold-called me and checked out a few different options, and showed me how the product that I had was not as good and I was paying almost the same money. I also found out that the policy that I had was a 2-year waiting period, which was ridiculous. So, whoever I insured would have to wait two years to get paid after I die. He had me change from one Fidelity Life product to another. It was very good working with that agent. I got better price, more insurance, and there was no waiting period.

Going with Fidelity was cheap, and their representative wasn't pushy. Usually, even if you call them, then they gotta get pushy and they want you to do this and that. I told him I just want the minimum because when I die, I wanna be able to pay for my cremation. I told him my cremation ain't gonna be anything fancy. I just wanna be able to pay for that. He said, “Fine.” So, we got the amount that I got and that was it.
