I had the worst experience with Aetna dental insurance. The people who answered the phone did not know what are they doing and very unprofessional. They just try to get the money from you and would not provide you the service. Be aware if you want to get a dental insurance plan. There are other providers have the better service for the customers. It will save your time and less headache. STAY AWAY FROM AETNA DENTAL INSURANCE AND THESE RUDE PEOPLE.

Aetna is great insurance for basic dental needs like biannual cleanings. It can be a little less economical for anything extra like adult orthodontics or extractions. Nonetheless, it is accepted at nearly every dentist office I have ever used, so it is useful.

Oak Hill Dental in Rillton Pa Is excellent, like family they go the extra mile for you. However, Aetna Insurance itself hard to connect and get a straight answers for anything. They like to pass the buck, even the dental office has issues with them. All these Insurance companies are too big and the customer is just a number. The agents are the worse. Once you sign up you never hear from them again. They get paid every year no matter what. Cost of Medicare needs to stop increasing every year after they increase your Social Security. The people lose every time. Best to shop around every year. Go for the most benefits and lowest cost you can find. Remember online never give your true phone number. These companies are like blood suckers. One call after the other because medicare is easy money for them. That is all they care about.

We have been with them for several years. This company has always been extremely professional and efficient and helpful when dealing with them. Claims are paid on time and the folks on the call center always pay attention to our needs.

One never receives the actual total amount of coverage, on any oral work, to be done, until it is complete, and at which time, often is usually about half of what Aetna had previously quoted doctor’s accounting staff. There needs to be better communications between Aetna Insurance, Doctor’s office staff and patient.

BEWARE. Aetna is the worst possible insurance company you could choose. If you value your health, take this as a sign to go literally anywhere else. Their customer service is joke. Nonexistent. Do not waste your time.

Aetna Dental, even with upgrade, is little better than having no insurance at all which is what I will soon be doing. No reputable dentist within an hours drive will accept basic AETNA dental. They will tell you to put your money in the bank for when you need service. They will cover next to nothing besides cleaning, minor fillings and extractions if you can find a dentist to accept it.

Have only been able to use once last year after getting two teeth removed. Was please. But this year so far this year had a consultation with my dentist, and wasn't too satisfied.

Dental Plans usually use Dental "mills" where it's difficult to find great dentists. Given the low yearly maximums and after premiums and co-pays, I found the Aetna plan that charges the agreed insurance rate to be far less expensive.

The coverage is adequate for my needs. They cove about 50% of the cost of crowns and about 80% of the cost of fillings. They also cover the most of the cost of braces and provide twice a year cleaning. There's a break in cost if you use an "in network" dentist.

I believe Aetna has been super for me. The coverage is good and not that expensive. They have been very helpful in all my questions. Having to pay upfront is not always easy, but the check came in the mail pretty quick.

I was able to schedule an emergency visit within 2 days of my plan becoming active. I needed to have a tooth removed immediately. The copayments on my high deductible plan were reasonable and I was able to create a payment plan for what was not covered. Simply, I am grateful to have coverage.

Unfortunately many high rated dentists do not accept AETNA.... My choice of dentist does not accept my insurance so I have to pay and then submit forms for reimbursement. The reimbursement is less than the cost if service. I pay about $90 a month. We are fortunate that our teeth are in great shape. We have the insurance just in case if an emergency. For us it has not been cost effective. Very costly for the type of coverage and allowed services.

Aetna dental is very good and it takes care of all your dental needs. All dental needs are covered under this insurance and most doctors if not all dentists takes this insurance and it's very convenient and most people needs this convenience.

Paid for Aetna DMO for over a year. Signed up for in network dentist and waited a month before getting a yearly teeth cleaning. The service claim was denied erroneously. Cannot reach anyone to dispute claim denial. Company only responds to these cases by US Mail but I have yet to receive an answer.

AETNA is absolutely HORRIBLE. I chose the most expensive plan because they said they cover dental implants. This procedure takes a very long time. COVID set me back even further. When I had my teeth extracted, I had a different employer. Now I have a new employer and AETNA won't cover a thing because they say it is a pre-existing condition! AETNA is a contributor to the downfall of this country. They are no different than the scamming credit cards. Shame on you AETNA. My mission is to inform every person I ever come in contact with not to choose AETNA, since that is my only available recourse!

As part of my Aetna Medicare Advantage Dental Plan, I am to pay for my dental services and receive reimbursement a few weeks after services and claim sent to Aetna. I paid for dental services in February of 2020. Aetna mistakenly reimbursed the dentist. I have been trying since February to get reimbursed from Aetna. Aetna left the responsibility to me to try to get the dentist to reimburse me for an error they made. I have called Aetna and my dentist every month since February and I have yet to get my reimbursement. I am seriously considering cancelling my Medicare Advantage Plan with Aetna. Very, Very disappointed in their customer services and response to their error.

They don't give a plastic card like every other insurance provider. The medical providers available in network are subpar. This service is a scam to collect your money and provide less than acceptable medical care.

Dental insurance usually pays for two checkup/cleanings a year, and Aetna promises the same. About 15 years ago, I had to have periodontal (gum) surgery in which they grafted gum tissue from the roof of my mouth down to my bottom, front teeth. Ever since then, I take one of the two checkup/cleanings at my periodontist and one at my regular dentist. They each do the same thing. They clean and check my teeth for problems. The only difference is that they both also measure my gums for shrinkage.
My dental insurance has always paid for these visits as one of my regular free checkup/cleanings. There has never been a problem ever since -- until now. Even though it too promises two checkup/cleanings a year, Aetna dental insurance wants me to pay a $100 deductible, having decided that a "periodontal checkup" is not the same thing as a free "prophy checkup." Why? So they can weasel their way out of paying for the checkup/cleaning I need. I called Aetna, but they stand by their unjust reading of their magical coding policy while charging an exorbitant $60 a month fee to the customer and providing nada.

Aetna only does business with one endodontist in my area called Lovett Dental. This company has a horrible reputation. When I went to aetna's website to find other providers I was given a list of out of network providers all of which were at least a hundred miles from my location. I have messaged their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/aetna/) and emailed them (socialmediacustomerservice@aetna.com). Alyssha claims to have sent me three different response emails but all I received was a link (http://www.aetna.com/aboutaetna/safeguard_data.htm) which prompts me to login then takes me to the main page and provides no information. In short, aetna's coverage is **,, its employees incompetent or indifferent and its provider scraped from the bottom of the barrel.

If you can avoid choosing this horrid company for your dental plan - do ti! I had no choice and just hung up from 14th (yes, fourteen calls) for trying to get a claim paid that I actually bothered to get a authorization for. I get that insurance companies deny claims hoping that people get frustrated and go away as I worked for one - but 14 times it should be pretty clear that I was not going away. This company is a joke, truly the state insurance oversight agencies should fine them or not allow them to operate. The only business that you pay with the expectation of NOT receiving that you paid for. I think I am passing on dental insurance if it is Delta and just paying out of pocket as my time is more valuable than anything this horrid company may or may not cover.

I have never seen an insurance company spend so much time on not paying claims as Aetna Dental. They first ask the dentist to send in excessive information multiple times. Then they deny. Then you appeal, can get no status online and after months get a letter stating they stay with their original decision. My latest was I retired and took Cobra and had Aetna. When Cobra ran out I took Aetna Individual. Their latest reason for not paying was the first part of my work was done under a different insurance. Even after sending them documentation they still denied. I am now working with the insurance commissioner in FL to get help.

I have spent hours on the phone tracking my dental claims. Aetna's Dental processing department is truly incompetent. They will send your reimbursement to your provider when the claim clearly reflects the customer's receipt; lose the claim (even though included with a claim already processed); refuse to provide a person (supervisor's name); and separate a fax and claim they didn't receive it. I am ready to find a more efficient and effective insurance carrier.

Aetna has no problem accepting my premium payments, but when it is time for them to pay out on a claim they have lots of issues and delayed. First they claimed that Aetna is the secondary insurance and will not make a payment on a claim submitted to another insurance company. This required several phone calls with Aetna to establish the fact that they are the primary insurance company. But....once that was solved, Aetna then informed me that the services were performed before the policy was in effect. Now I need to prove to them that the policy was in effect 4 years before the procedure occurred. I have discussed this situation with several representatives who have each told me that they would fix it within a week. And yet, it has not yet been fixed.

This is by the far the WORST dental insurance plan I have had in my life. I'm not only paying more per month (with employee) but the coverage is ridiculous. I just paid 1200$ for a root canal. What is the purpose of having this insurance. The last root canal I had cost about $550 and I paid about $10 amount. With Aetna I pay $30 a month. Oh trust when it's time to renew benefits. I'm letting HR know that AETNA needs to go. If you're looking for major dental surgery, please go with someone else.

Aetna Dental Insurance is awful. My daughter desperately needs to have oral surgery (wisdom teeth) but Aetna does NOT fully cover anesthesia. That's terrible! What's worse, Aetna only covers 50% of anesthesia at 15 minute intervals. The grand total cost to me for my daughter's procedure WITH Aetna coverage is a whopping $2,650!

I have had Aetna Dental for 17 years and have seen a steady decline in their responsiveness and customer service. The most recent example involves a claim for a chipped tooth and crown, routine procedures by any measure. Aetna has repeatedly asked for information, which has been provided multiple times. And each step then involves a follow up “next requirement”. One customer service rep just asked for information I provided 6 months ago—she was the rep I provided the information to via their secure messaging system. My dentist’s office always sighs when I remind them who my provider is...a sign I should have heeded. I am typically loyal to companies and am usually reluctant to jump ship. But, the last few years have tested that resolve and I intend to move on during the next open enrollment.
