I purchased a Viking microwave in 2007 after hearing great feedback about your products. We have a professional stove which requires a special microwave that can withstand the heat and has an incorporated hood so we purchased the convection microwave hood - DMOR. Since I have owned this microwave, I have had to replace two internal parts, the keypad has been replaced and now the door will not open. This microwave has been the biggest disappointment and the repair costs have now exceeded the initial purchase price of the microwave.

In addition, Dan Marc Appliance, the authorized service company that you recommended to me, told me that the parts that were broken when they serviced the unit were not covered under warranty so I paid over $500.00 for labor and parts. I just found out from Viking that they submitted a claim for the magnetron tube to Viking because that part was indeed covered. They also failed to mention to Viking that an additional part inside the microwave was replaced when the magnetron tube was replaced and that four months prior, the keypad was replaced so Viking now has no record of these repairs. Unfortunately, Dan Marc Appliance is the only repair company in my area that works on Viking microwaves so I had no choice but to call them again to fix my door.

I called them last Monday and the soonest appointment they had available was for today. No one called me to give me a window or time frame for when they would be here so other than dropping off my kids at school, I had no choice but to wait home for them all day. At 12:20 I still had not heard from them so I called to find out when they would arrive.

They said the technician had been here at 9:00 (while I was dropping off my kids at school) and that they can't come now until next Friday. I asked them why no one called me to give me some advanced notice and they just rudely responded that I was "** out of luck" because the service technician had been here at 9:00 and now wasn't available until next Friday. So what did I want to do? This is by far the worst customer service that I have ever dealt with. Dan Marc Appliance is extremely rude, unreliable and dishonest and I am completely shocked that an upscale, reputable company like Viking would ever associate themselves with a service provider that has such horrific customer service skills. Since they are listed on your website as a recommended authorized appliance repair center, I consider their workmanship and customer service a direct reflection of your company.

At this point, I am left with a "top-of-the-line" Viking microwave that once again is broken and I have no repair company to fix it. Having such a horrible reliability track record, paying to repair this microwave yet again feels like a waste of time and money. You should be embarrassed that within three years your microwave has had this many problems. I have owned appliances in the past that cost a third less than Viking which have had far longer longevity. After my experience with this Viking microwave and with the horrible service company with whom you have chosen to represent your company, I will never buy a Viking product again. More so, I will never recommend your brand to anyone and would discourage anyone from buying your products in the future. This has been an unfortunate and surprisingly disappointing experience with Viking and I hope that this letter at least increases your awareness about the poor craftsmanship of this unit and your poor selection of authorized service providers that your company recommends.
