I am rating their customer service as a one. (I would rate the actual moving people as a 4). I was referred to them to move a grandfather clock locally. The 'estimator' CHRIS quoted $999 which included 3 hours of time for THREE people, PLUS charges for one hour of travel, a clock technician charge, and an 'operational charge.' When I asked if this was a flat rate, they said no, it was an hourly rate based on 3 hour minimum. I had no idea what was involved. I had to rely on their estimate that it would take THREE people. Clearly that was an upsell to inflate the price. But, of course I didn't know that. I was floored by the estimate so in order to be sure that it wouldn't end up costing more, I asked for a flat rate and was offered a flat $1000. The original contract had the specifics, but the document I signed only stated that a clock was being moved, without detail.

When the truck showed up, there were only TWO people. Had the original quote stated two people, the cost would have been about $240 less and had I negotiated a flat rate, it would have been based on that. I emailed the original estimator person who kicked it 'upstairs.' A person (ZACK, I think) called me and was extremely rude, would not let me explain why I thought the fee was unfair, but he continued to talk over me even while I asked him to stop and listen. He continually told me I signed a contract. I maintained that the estimate and the agreed amount was based on more workers than were sent by the company; but he wouldn't listen. Even the driver could hear this guy speaking loudly and not stopping when I asked him to listen.

This is poor customer service. Making a small consideration in the price would have been in order or a polite person who validated my concern. But, they had my clock on the truck and wouldn't bring it in until I paid the full amount. So, I did. I sent a follow up email and received even a ruder reply. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. I feel sorry for their actual moving staff. They were polite, nice, and handled my clock carefully. However, although the person who was the clock tech handled the moving parts well and reinstalled them, I had to ask her to set the time and then after she left, it wasn't keeping time. I realized that she hadn't started the pendulum. Once that was done, it worked perfectly. Since there was a separate fee for a clock tech, wouldn't you think they would know to start the clock??

If I could give Safebound zero stars, I would. On pickup day, the movers arrived over an hour late with no notice. I only found out what was going on after I called them myself. Then, it took three full weeks for my belongings to arrive even though I had already moved into my new place across the country. What I didn’t realize (and what the sales rep conveniently failed to explain) is that the “delivery date” you provide is merely the earliest possible delivery date, not an actual commitment.

The fine print gives them up to 30 business days to deliver. I signed everything while still on the phone with the salesperson, who never mentioned this - something that feels pretty important to call out. Yes, I made two rookie mistakes: trusting a salesperson and not scrutinizing the fine print. But the customer service experience that followed was beyond unacceptable.

When I called for updates (because I was living in an empty apartment without furniture, kitchen supplies, etc.) the staff acted annoyed that I was even calling. They lied repeatedly about calling me back (they never did) and were cryptic and evasive about where my belongings were. At one point, I genuinely wondered if they even knew where my stuff was. I’ve never been spoken to more condescendingly than by their representative, Dawn. She told me it was my fault for not reading the fine print, scolded me for being upset, and then, unbelievably, said it wasn’t Safebound’s fault that I don’t know how moving companies operate.

Apparently, I was supposed to know that my things would be loaded and unloaded across multiple trucks and stored who knows where before reaching me. The only person who seemed remotely helpful, Junior, once told me my things were being loaded in NY - even though I moved from NE to NC. So yes, forgive me for being confused. The final insult: THEY LOST SOME OF MY BELONGINGS.

After everything, I called again. Zach promised to open a case and reassured me that Safebound had a high retrieval rate (I think he said up to 80 or 90% even). He told me to call back in a week if I hadn’t heard anything from him. Of course, he never called. When I followed up, Dawn once again answered and told me to file a claim. I asked if that meant financial compensation if they couldn’t find my items. Of course not — because I didn’t buy extra insurance and packed my own boxes. So now, I’m missing irreplaceable personal items — art, photographs, handwritten notes from a trip to Greece — and I HAVE ZERO FAITH THAT SAFEBOUND WILL EVER FIND THEM.

I fully acknowledge that I made mistakes and didn’t do my research, but Safebound has taken no accountability for their part whatsoever. Every interaction I’ve had with their team has been rude, evasive, dismissive, condescending, or disingenuous. They made me feel unreasonable for being worried about my own property. And when they lost my things, they didn’t even offer an apology. BEWARE: Safebound operates as if nothing you own has value or sentiment. They don’t care about your experience, your belongings, or the outcome — only your money.

Bottom line: Safebound Moving & Storage overcharged me, subcontracted my move without telling me, failed to deliver promised services, and has ignored repeated requests for resolution for over a month. I hired them for an interstate move quoted at $2,900 for a two-bedroom home. Prior to the move, I called to say I had removed significant inventory (second bedroom, office, and kitchen contents), but this wasn’t communicated to the pickup team. Despite this, I was charged an extra $750 for “increased cubic feet” due to added boxes, with no updated calculation or explanation.

I received only 20 minutes delivery notice (instead of 24 hours), my move was subcontracted twice, the delivery crew failed to reassemble my bed frame, and I never got the promised follow-up call. The driver cited a broken phone for lack of updates. I first raised concerns on July 3 and followed up six more times. On July 11, a representative acknowledged mistakes and promised compensation, then went on leave without handing off my case. I’ve also requested the required arbitration provider details (July 29, Aug 5, Aug 12), which they have refused to provide. As of today, no resolution or refund has been offered.

Also $350 change due has not been returned after numerous request and provided evidence. Now in the claims process they try and hand us over to some questionable third party 'US Safe Moving LLC', using a gmail address and phone numbers marked as a scam and fraudulent online (rated F on BBB). You're better off just dumping any furniture you own, fly with your clothes and maybe some pictures (pay the extra luggage fees) and buy new on arrival instead of spending good money on this moving company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY – Bait and Switch, Poor Communication, and Zero Accountability. I booked my move with Safebound after they came to our home, looked at our three-floor, 2400 sq ft house, and gave us a quote. I was told our belongings would easily fit within the space they quoted. When I later tried to update the inventory list, I was assured that the additional items wouldn’t change the price much.

Fast forward to three days before our move—I still hadn’t heard from anyone regarding final inventory or when to expect the movers. When I finally got on the phone with the moving manager, he reviewed the same inventory the original rep saw and was shocked at how little space we were quoted. He actually seemed nervous our stuff wouldn’t even fit on the truck. Then came the bombshell: the price of our move was doubled.

Of course I questioned it, but by that point, they already had thousands of dollars from me and I had no choice but to move forward. When the truck showed up, it was just two guys—clearly unhappy about the workload—and they immediately said they didn’t have enough space or manpower. They arrived at 8:00 AM and left at 12:30 AM. That’s a 16-hour move. Completely unacceptable. Then came another surprise: over $500 in packing fees, even though everything was already boxed. All they did was disassemble some furniture, which I was told was included in the original price.

I’ve now emailed Safebound three times and called three times, and every time I’m told someone will get in touch. It’s been a month and I’ve heard nothing. Crickets. The irony? In the beginning, they kept talking about how one bad review costs them thousands of dollars and how proud they are of their customer service. I tried to resolve this privately, but they clearly had no intention of making it right. So, here it is: one bad review that will hopefully cost them thousands—just like they warned me. Avoid Safebound at all costs. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

However, when my things didn’t arrive on time, I reached out to inquire about the delay and any potential compensation, only to be met with rude and dismissive behavior from the manager. It was very disappointing, especially after I paid more for a service that was clearly not delivered as promised. Once they sign you, they disappear - then act like they’ve been really busy so they haven’t had time to call you… this isn’t the case, they’re just avoiding you. They pushed me off to another moving company completely and then missed their delivery date after confirming it. A rep said that they were going to issue a refund for because I’m sitting in an empty apt for 4 days and are now ghosting me so they don’t have to confirm any kind of price adjustment before drop off. They’re dropping off supposedly tomorrow and I can’t wait to see what kind of shape my stuff is in. Beware, the guys you speak to on the phone are great and the Google reviews seem legit but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re removing reviews because this company was the definition of sketchy to work with.

My experience with Safebound was disappointing and stressful from start to finish. We hired them for a cross-country move with an estimated delivery time of 7-10 days, yet our belongings arrived a staggering 36 days later. Despite being assured by Patric at Safebound that the move would be managed exclusively by their own team, the job was handed off to a local third-party company. This was a direct contradiction to what was promised — that Safebound employees would handle our belongings from pickup to delivery. Instead, on moving day, a completely different company showed up to pack and load our items, which was both unexpected and unsettling.

Once they collected the initial payment, communication from Safebound dropped off entirely. I found myself in the frustrating position of having to chase both Safebound and the subcontracted company for updates. Safebound offered no accountability and minimal support, leaving us to deal with the subcontractor on our own.

Throughout the 36-day delay, Safebound consistently brushed off my concerns, merely saying the other company would be in touch with updates — which never happened. Safebound seemed more interested in collecting their commission from the first installment than in delivering on their promises or providing any meaningful customer service. This entire experience was needlessly stressful, marked by broken promises, lack of transparency, and total disregard for responsibility. I would not recommend Safebound to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving experience.

Do NOT Use This Moving Company. I cannot stress enough how utterly disappointed and frustrated I am with this moving company. From start to finish, the entire experience has been a nightmare, and I strongly advise against anyone using their services. It's clear they prioritize speed over quality and customer satisfaction at every turn. One of the most glaring issues was their complete lack of transparency regarding insurance options. Throughout the entire process, no one bothered to discuss insurance coverage with us. This oversight meant that when our belongings were damaged, we were left without adequate protection or recourse.

Furthermore, they employ underhanded tactics during the signing process. They rush you through the paperwork, emphasizing that any delay could result in losing the initial estimate and being subjected to higher charges. This pressure-cooker approach leaves customers feeling coerced and trapped into accepting terms they haven't had time to fully understand or consider.

Firstly, the communication from the company was HORRIBLE. They were incredibly unreliable, showing up a 2 hours late without any prior notice or apology. This delayed our move significantly, with the movers not finishing until nearly 11pm, leaving us exhausted and stressed. Promises were made that our belongings would depart the day after pickup, but this turned out to be a blatant lie. Instead, our items stayed in their warehouse for close to a week, causing unnecessary anxiety and inconvenience. Meaning that our stuff were moved around without care more than once.

The condition in which our belongings arrived was appalling. Despite labeling numerous boxes as fragile, many arrived destroyed, with items inside damaged beyond repair. Worst of all, our 98” TV, a significant investment costing nearly $6,000, was completely wrecked. The company assured us repeatedly that they would handle it with care, but the reality was starkly different. They sent inadequately prepared personnel, including a skinny individual ill-equipped to handle such a massive TV, weighing close to 200lbs. Predictably, it was mishandled and now is unusable. The box where it was wrapped in didn’t even have a “FRAGILE” sign.

When we filed a claim for damages, hoping for some form of compensation, the response was insultingly inadequate. They offered a mere $83 for a television that cost thousands of dollars and was completely destroyed due to their negligence. In conclusion, this moving company's incompetence, poor communication, and utter disregard for customer property make them a hazard to anyone looking to relocate safely and securely. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and financial loss – steer clear of this company at all costs.

Damaged items and an abhorrent customer service department!! Consumer beware if you are contracted to this company for a move. They will subcontract your job a thousand more times down the line. I was assigned Safebound for my move and all phone calls were handled professionally up until the move was complete and they had already taken my money.

First, the driver they sent to deliver my things was one of the rudest and most careless people I have ever worked with. He showed up by himself (something I was later told by Safebound was not supposed to happen) to unload my entire apartment furniture set, almost 12 hours after the time he had initially promised to be there. He proceeded to make calls on his cell to local movers to contract their help with unloading. After two shady people showed up and asked for money upfront (a practice this driver was familiar with since he demanded mine up front, before even having a "crew" to unload my items), the driver refused and they sped off.

We waited almost two hours for a different local mover to show up, and in the meantime, this driver tried to move a nightstand by himself (he told us we were not allowed to help) and scratched the brand-new flooring of our house (pictured). Any complaints we raised were met with "I'm just the driver" to relinquish any responsibility and I was told to contact customer service.

I began calling Safebound's customer service department (which, as far as I can tell, consists of two people) the day of my move. They didn't answer my daily calls for weeks. When they did call me back, I was told they would look into my damaged flooring and furniture, investigate the rude driver as he was a "new" contractor, and work on getting me a $100 discount that I was promised for writing a Google review on the company before my move was even completed. I wrote this review the day of my pickup and was told I would get the discount, but it was never applied. I have since removed my previous review and am convinced that every positive review this company has was gained through this "incentive" program.

Fast forward to over a month after my move was completed, Zac in customer service calls me to tell me that the scratch in my floor is "tiny" and he doesn't see why it is even an issue. He also says my damaged furniture is not worth filing a claim over since it still functions... So, unless your items and home are completely destroyed, no one at this company will take accountability for damages (and there will be damages because the labor they contract is likely cheap and easy to find).

Finally, I was sent a liability release form and asked to sign it in order to receive my $100 discount for writing a positive review, relinquishing my rights to post any negative reviews and agreeing to remove any existing negative posts. Obviously, I declined as I believe it is more important to warn people about this terrible business. Find a different company for your move if you want to be treated with respect. Too much money and time was lost to this company, would never use again or recommend.

Avoid! Here's their MO - quote a low price - lock you in with a deposit - turn up to your house - double the price. Then they give you a delivery date - forget that - they don't even know where our stuff is. When we ask what's going on - they hang up. Stay Away.
