Tech told me he could not go any further on my line because it was blocked. I was instructed to use the restroom sparingly and if I needed to take a shower do it quickly, but if it backs up again, I was going to be told, "I told you so." I call the company to ask why they could not fix my issue the same day since they advertise 24/7 and a rude customer rep. Olivia hung up on me. I had to call back and speak with a Manager who was nice-Hunter. He told me he was informed by the tech he was able to get 100 ft out and we could use the restroom /shower.
Supervisor comes out today and says, there is a block and he can only get to about 50 feet. Over 7K later, I am waiting for them to come back tomorrow to re-snake the drain to hope there are no more issues. They gave me a $95 discount because of the customer service experience I had. My thought is if you have a technician who is working on a Sunday and it is close to quitting time please don't send him my way. I am thankful they had financing, however, when you are spending this much money you shouldn't have to call to get answers and clarification and rude employees on what is going on. I can say, the Manager and the Supervisor were nice, helpful and respectful. Thank you Hunter and Caleb because if it weren't for you this review would be one star and all bad.

Tech came out to de-clog roots in our sewer line. Said he could not get through and was going to need to dig through our driveway to get to it. The project would cost me over 20k at the end of the day. Had another company come out and were able to get through no problem in the same amount of time. Called the owner and she was over talking me the whole time. Would not listen until I asked If I could talk. Then she questioned us why we called another company to come out. Even asked if I should take the money away from the tech's paycheck to pay us back? Would never go back to this company and I would never recommended anyone going their way. Scam!

I called to have my main water line re-connected to the sprinkler system. You connect two PVC pipes together with a valve in between. The FIRST crew they sent couldn't figure out what to do, so I sent them home. They charged me $700 for the "visit". Transparent pricing? The SECOND crew they sent out actually connected the two PVC pipes together with a nice valve. They claimed they were done and everything worked. I paid them $700.
Well, I went out to test the connection and there was no water to the sprinkler system. Turns out, they didn't even test it. So --- I called them back. They sent the same crew out for the THIRD time. They spent four hours and finally found the problem they created. Fixed! They charged me another $1,900. Now, add that all up. Over $3,000 to get two pipes connected with a valve in between. I wouldn't hire them again to change a lightbulb.

I had a leak at the waterline coming into the house. Got some quotes, among them was Mr. Rooter. The waterline coming into the house had to be replaced as it was leaking right at the brick porch. I had one quote, for $4000. Mr. Rooter sends out a tech. He can't diagnose the issue so they send out a "manager". This guy says to replace the line, and it will cost $7,000!! What?!?! I ask why it is so much, and he says we will have to break up the sidewalk to run a line from the meter to your house. This was roughly 70 ft.
I told him I would think about it, and get back to him. He offered financing, and then told me all work was "lifetime guaranteed". I told him I will get back to him. This guy was trying to hard sell me. This was around Thanksgiving, and he kept saying that financing would ease the burden of the holidays. I told him I don't finance things, period. Thanked for his time, walked him to the door, and he still pressed me saying, the quotes only good for 30 days, and the closer to the "holidays" the cost would go up.
I took my chances. The next company, came out the same day, which is a local company, quoted me $2800. I told the tech (who was also the owner) about the outrageous quote I received, and asked him how was it legal to break a city owned sidewalk. He laughed and said, it's not. He then explained that they have a directional boring machine, and there is absolutely no need to break up the sidewalk. He said "Let me guess. This was Mr. Rooter?" I confirmed it was. He said, "You have no idea of how many times we get calls of people in tears because of quotes they've received from Mr. Rooter in an emergency." He said, "they like to try to quote ridiculously high, and talk people into financing." This was exactly the case with me. I immediately went with them, and they had it scheduled 3 days later and new water line in by noon. No issues, no leaks, great water pressure for over 6 months. Do not use Mr. Rooter, they don't know what they're doing, and they will rip you off. You've been warned.

When Mr Rooter sent someone out to diagnose a drainage problem. There were two guys that came to the house which I thought was okay for the diagnosis. Then we scheduled for the following Monday to do the work. Now my bathroom is very small, so I called early that morning to request that only one person come to do the work because It was a simple drainage problem. The receptionist told me they could not do that so I cancelled. With the location of my second bathroom, a second person would mean that, that second person would be standing halfway in my office while they conducted my work and it was unnecessary.

Plumber's name John 71. Needed sewer line clogged and was given a flat rate which was good. However, the plumber said that he needed to charge an extra $106 to cut off a rusted drain cap because that was the only way to remove it. However, my brother took it off himself in 2 minutes! Then the plumber said that another floor drain was clogged and that he needed to snake it out for an additional drain fee of more than $300! My brother lived the cap off and the water quickly drained away!!! If my brother was not present, I would have been charged another more than $300 unnecessarily! Senior citizens should beware! I have no faith and confidence in John 71!

I set up an appointment with the company to fix my Faucet and low pressure. I asked about their charges. They said that they charge $39 but it would include in the total cost. When technician came he did not nothing because I explained him everything. Since I wanted him to talk to my insurance company and I asked any charge, he said he will charge $125 but it would be included when service will be completed. I paid $125 that time. When he came for service, he is saying that is separate now as he is charging separate for service. I paid out of pocket and for service, I have to bring new technician and have to pay for same price extra. Please help.

I believe that after what I was told on the 2nd visit it is their fault from the first visit the drain is broken. I was told that what he did was or shouldn’t have been completed the ways he did it. In 12 years I have lived here I have never had water coming out of the ground into the yard from the work they have completed. The employee with all of the tattoos stated he would not have used the water pressure cutter or metal cutter in this type of drain. My neighbor was watching the work get completed and has never seen water come out of the ground this way.

By the time he finished his "work" and left, the toilet was no better but cost me 4 times what I was quoted. Well pump is short-cycling. Service person is an hour late so I had to ask a friend to stay in the house as I had to return to work (I had taken time off for the service call). Service guy is in the house less than 10 minutes. Says I need a new tank. Insists on being paid for the diagnosis - $225, so my friend kindly pays it. (How embarrassing for me. Now I will never be able to ask this guy for a favour again). Supposedly they will take this off the cost of servicing.
I get an "estimate" for a new tank, a new pump, their "VIP" subscription, and 5 gallons of drain cleaner emailed to me. I only want the tank, so I call about it after 4PM because I cannot use the phone while I'm at work and end up talking to someone in a foreign country. I finally get an estimate for the tank only and it is wildly inflated. $1000 for a $200 tank installation. But I am stuck with this company because they have already taken an inflated fee for the diagnosis.
Not only this, they also took a water sample, which I did not request or authorize, and while all measured mineral levels are safe, they try to sell me a $1000 filtration system I don't need. Mr. Rooter bought out a reliable local company and it is clear that trustworthy service is the last thing they are concerned with. It's all about up-selling and manipulation. I will never call this company again.

Purchased 65.00 dollar bottle of drain cleaner and paid 185.00 for visit... A total of 245.00 and my drain is still clogged. Felt like I was ripped off. When you call and get their recording, it lists all of the things you can expect. I got none of that except for the smile. The guy used auger and unstopped it. My husband is actually under hospice care and I accidentally dropped the lid from his urinal and flushed before I knew it. I told him that. He did get it unstopped and it flushed twice. Charged $175.00. Next day, it was stopped up again. Guy told me that if what he did didn't work, I would need new toilet and cost of all would be $650.00. I called someone else and he took toilet outside and got lid out. I have called several times to question bill and see if there would be any kind of discount since it wasn't fixed. They do offer a Sr discount, but you have to ask for it.
Ridiculous, when they can see my 83 yr old husband in bed. I left word and the girl told me she sent owner email to see if he would do something. After 4 calls and no return call, I'm writing this review. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Being on a fixed income only, $175 was a lot of money to have to then pay someone else to actually fix the problem.

If you are desperate to have a plumbing emergency fixed please DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. We called this company hoping they could come out quickly to inspect a clogged bathroom drain on (8/19/20). The technician never even told us his name. He immediately diagnosed the problem as a clogged sewer line without even inspecting our toilet or pipes. He told us it would be $579 to snake our line and that he would have no problem clearing the line, again without even visually evaluating the plumbing. The technician proceeded to set up all his equipment in my residence without the use of protective gear or tarps, he even joked to my husband "how dirty and covered in sewage" the equipment was.
My 5 year old son had also had a surgical procedure done the same day so we were obviously concerned about the germs and bacteria being brought into our home and sat on the floor without a tarp or covering, the technician said they follow a rigorous clean up procedure once they are finished. After sending the snake down 45ft the technician told us our main line was broken outside the house and that he had to "call his manager". We later found out from another professional plumber that 45ft wouldn't have even been enough snake to reach the outside line. The technician came back in and advised us that his Manager could send another crew to our house the next day to run a camera and evaluate our broken line from another $400.
I advised the technician that we weren't comfortable with that considering that we were not having any other signs of a broke pipe. I also asked for the technician's supervisor's phone number so we could speak to him about the price to partially snake our line since the technician guaranteed he would be able to unclog it and did not. The technician told us he would give us the number once he packed up. He proceeded to pack up his gear, performed no cleaning, left our bathroom and hallway completely covered in sewage. He put our toilet back on but left a piece of the toilet in our bathtub, completely foregoing to install it under the toilet. The technician advised us that he would be back with his supervisor's phone number. He NEVER RETURNED, got in his truck and left.
No formal bill was given to us, no statement of what services were performed. We don't even know his name. I have photo evidence of all the damages including damaged to our floor and woodwork. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever encountered with a "professional" company. I felt completely taken a advantage of, it felt as if the technician knew we were desperate with a sick child and he saw a opportunity to exploit the situation. We are assuming the company will try to bill us for this botched experience. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If anyone is interested in seeing the photos please email me at **.

They came out quickly and diagnosed and fixed the problem and gave a 30 day warranty at over $380.00. They had to come out again within the 30 days and snake the toilet again. I called for a third time 33 days later because the same problem was occurring. They came out and diagnosed the problem differently and wanted to charge $500.00 for snaking the drains a third time. Not only did they not diagnose the problem correctly the first time I find the price for the new diagnosis exorbitant, especially during these pandemic times. I will not be using them in the future. They could have just came out and fixed the problem.

Mr. Rooter is a very professional plumbing business. They sent a picture of who is coming over for safety reasons, always arrived on time ready to fix whatever the problem is. There is no charge for diagnosing the problem even if I decide not to have it done! They went beyond expectations! We suddenly had a high water pressure coming to our house affecting our water heater. They installed a P.R.V. down by the road which was pricey but a lot of labor went into it.
Later in the year we had intermittent water pressure problems. Twice they came out and investigated at no cost. Eventually we asked them to replace the P.R.V. and they did that at no charge! It could have been a faulty P.R.V. but it very well could be due to the water company digging around our fire hydrant and dirt getting into the line causing the P.R.V. To falter. Past plumbers I have charged $400 per chore, even if it was simply replacing a faucet. Mr. Rooter is reputable and I highly recommend them before taking a chance with other companies.

We had our septic tank cleaned and the guy who did it from another company never put the lid on straight so when it rained, our tank would fill up. So we called Mr. Rooter to see if the problem was the lid. When the guy got to the house, a $50 service call went to $250.00 if he had to dig. I agreed to pay the 250. He dug and said the drain field was clogged and he could use high pressure water to clear it out. Now we are up to $1200.00 and he stuck a hose in and it only went a little ways in and said the drain field was bad and we need a whole new system and have it moved somewhere else in the yard and also said "who knows how old this house is anyway" (house was built in 2003).
I asked how much and was told, now this is for a 1 bathroom house with 1 kitchen sink and a washer machine. I was told $10,000.00 to $12,000.00 for a new tank and drain field. Then he tell me that he only makes commission on these job and they get tips also. TIPS??? REALLY??? I had asked on the phone about the Trip Charge fee and I was told it was $99.50. I approved the "Trip Charge Fee" to the person on the phone to send out technician to come out, assess the issue and recommend solution and offer quote to fix the issue. I had specifically instructed that any repairs should be done only after my explicitly approval and is contingent on the amount quoted for the repairs by the technician. My tenant reported that the plumbing technician did come out on August 15th, did some work and left. But the issue remained unresolved.
I was NOT informed as to what the issue was and was NOT provided information on the quote to do the repairs either by phone or email. Few days later when I checked my credit card statement, I noticed a charge of $538.79 from Mr Rooter. I had only authorized Trip charge fee of $99.50. I did not receive any email quotes/phone calls from technician to discuss quotes for any work performed. Hence any charges above $99.50 are unauthorized and should be reversed by Mr Rooter.
Recently I received mail from the business claiming that the charges are valid. I went through the documentation shared by Mr Rooter. The documentation simply clears the fact that I had scheduled a visit with Mr Rooter and they did indeed come out to assess the plumbing issue. This part was never in dispute and I have already informed that I am willing to pay $99.50 as Trip Charge fee for the visit. However the documentation also consists an Invoice with some work details. My husband and I had food and water backing up in our basement when running the dishwasher and using our kitchen sink. We called Mr. Rooter last Sunday for a free estimate and were told we needed a new sewer line replacement. After being convinced that they needed to snake and jet our main line that day we were told if it happens again we need to immediately have our main line replaced or it could end up collapsing.
Last night we figured out ourselves that it was not the main sewer line that was backing up like Mr. Rooter tried to convince us but the piping in our kitchen that had a clog. After dinner I ran our dishwasher and noticed water again coming up in our basement. My husband and I agreed that this did not make sense, since Mr. Rooter had just snaked and jetted where they said the issue was coming from 4 days prior. We tested our toilets, shower and bathroom sinks and were not experiencing this issue.
I called Mr. Rooter again last night and said I felt we were being taken advantage of and they were not being honest. A different supervisor was sent out to our house and agreed it was not the main line that was causing our problem but grease in our kitchen pipe. If we were given accurate information and not scared into having our main line jetted this is something we could have handled ourselves. Instead were robbed by Mr. Rooter and paid just under $1000 to “fix” what we were convinced was a much bigger issue.
Bill ** was sent to our house before anything was looked at. I later found out that Bill reports directly to Steve ** who is the Excavation Specialist for Mr. Rooter. Before anything was looked at Mr. Rooter decided they wanted to sell my family a $7,000 new main sewer line and dig out our front yard instead of being an honest company and finding the real issue we were experiencing.
When we expressed concern about affording such a big unexpected expensive Bill gave us his spiel on their financing program. Bill and a technician were at our home for hours pushing and convincing us we had this huge expense coming up. Instead of testing the pipes and checking our kitchen like professionals should, Bill wrote in our notes that we were having a problem when running our clothes washer, which is not true. We even laughed about our dog trying to snack on the food coming up in the basement. I’m not sure about anyone else but I do not keep food in our washer and dryer.
It is well known that houses in the Willowick area have clay pipes and were built in the 50's. Of course there will be some cracking, this does not mean they need replaced immediately or that it is causing a problem in your home. Mr. Rooter targets young families who they think do not know better and uses this as a business strategy to get as much money out of you as they can. They try to take advantage of our community by scaring their customer into thinking they need a new sewer line. Bill told us after we were convinced that we needed to have our main line snaked and jetted that if it backed up again we needed to have it replaced quickly because it could collapse. Of course Mr. Rooter knew it would back up again because they did not fix the real problem in the first place. Do not let this company lie and take advantage of your family like that did ours.

I guessed the knob was the control and I'm not a plumber! I asked him to check the fixtures I bought before going to store for a part. He couldn't be bothered to do that - surprise! What could have been rectified in a parts trip ignored so I got nothing installed except basic shower head. I went to parts store after he left and found parts and pictures explaining what I needed. I now know more than the plumber. Grossly overcharged for simple work. Wasted my Saturday. I would never let this company tackle the more complicated leak under kitchen sink. We had a young man come to our home to look at a backed up drain, the man never once checked the pipe for pressure to try to locate the problem. It was clear that he did not want to do any work, instead he just blamed it on the cesspool. We had our cesspool guy come, and he said it was fine and the trap in the main line had a blockage. It is sad that the Mr. Rooter man did not even try to help us, instead just charged us $70 for a 5 min conversation. I do NOT recommend this company at ALL!

Wish I had looked at these reviews before hiring Mr. Rooter. I bought a water heater and hired them to install it. When they got here they told me I had bought the wrong water heater. That was, of course, my mistake, but when they returned the water heater they returned it to the store from which it came and bought another one. I was never able to get anything more than about $123 in store credit from the store. In other words I was charged for two water heaters. I gave up trying to get my money back from the store. Then, this weekend, it was hot so I turned on the central air. When I later went down into the basement I found the cellar and den floors all wet. Why? Mr. Rooter had unplugged the humidifier and left it unplugged. This caused the pump to shut off and the floor to get flooded.

Called them and scheduled a appointment and for a week they kept calling at 7pm at night and said they can't make it and will be there next day. This went on for a week.
Finally on 7th day they called and said would be there in 30 minutes. 2 hours later nothing. Called them and they said the crew had to do another job and would have to reschedule for another day. We blew up on them and they said owner will be calling us. 5 days later no calls. Had to have Matt Mertz in Pittsburgh PA do the job that they should of. After reading the reviews and seeing how much scamming this company seems to do, I want a video. They want an additional 5k for pipes that they were jetting and something happened. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. It is a shame that we were in such dire need to get things fixed we didn't do our research. That is our fault and will NEVER happen again. They have a guarantee on their work, which doesn't mean a damn thing to me. I would rather pay someone, if we have issues than to use this company. I’ve never written a review before but don’t want people to get suckered like I did. They are complete con artist. Check out some of the review by others. It seems this is a company that puts pressure on their employees to maximize sales. My sewage pipe was clogged. They tried to snake the sewer pipe but were not able. They charged me $950. I found out later Mr. Drain charges about $400 and if they cannot clear the pipe $200. Basically, I paid $800 more than I should have. They then gave me an estimate to dig up and replace the sewage line. It was about $25,000. I had the job done by someone else for $6,000.
My advice is if you need your sewer pipe unclogged, find someone like Mr. Drain. You shouldn’t have to pay full fare if they cannot fix the problem. Also call your town or city water and sewage department. They can inspect the pipe with a camera, usually for free. And give you a list of reputable companies. Finally, shop around for estimates. If I hadn’t I would have overpaid by $19,000. Live and learn.

I called this company because of water backup. When one of the plumbers walked in and we showed him how the toilet had overflowed and the tub was backed up he immediately told us that the cost would be $624.95 which shocked us but because it was below zero outside and we were expecting a minus fifty degree the following day we felt we had no choice so we agreed. WELL, after removing the toilet and supposedly using a camera they tell us that the rodding wasn’t working. In the meantime I reminded them of what I had told them when they got there, that EVERY OTHER plumber we called in the past rodded from the outside and after rodding out the tree roots the plumbing was solved.
These guys kept insisting the problem was inside and that they could TRY to do a water jetting for $1500 but they couldn’t guarantee it would work. SOOO, if THAT didn’t work then the next step would be to replace a pipe for about $2500. We had to leave the house that night and after spending two nights in a hotel (more money!) we decided to cancel the jetting with them. After so much frustration a friend sent his plumber to our house and only charged us $125 for rodding outside roots as I had been saying all that time and in 15 minutes this real professional solved our problem.
I called the company to complain which didn’t solve anything because they already had my $624.95 and weren’t willing to credit anything back for all the frustration these guys put us through. These guys didn’t want to go out in the cold and just made up excuses to make more money. The only reason they get one star is because we want this review to post. Advice: Don’t waste your money on this company and call a reputable company.

An honest review for Mr. Rooter North York Josh **. Request for him if you have a job. I will break down why and why I will likely use them again. I have some knowledge of plumbing and basic home repair. It was an interest I took in school, just headed into a corporate position instead. I called a few contractors for a major reno to my bathroom as I know I am out of touch and didn’t want to take shortcuts. Some seemed okay with a slightly better price & others (I assume); took me for being a girl. They quoted items that just didn’t make sense. Thank gawd I know better and had an uncle experienced in the field. So here is why I recommend Josh from Mr. Rooter.
Flexible. I had other parts of the job that was I wanted to happen first, before I had someone come in. I couldn’t nail down a date but he ensured me, that when I am ready to let him know and he'll be there. No charge to come in an estimate the job. He came in, looked at everything and gave me a ballpark price with a buffer in there. Down to earth. Spoke to me like a person walked me through the possible job and worst case scenarios. There was no clocking ticking or rush to talk through the job quickly.
We had a last minute change to our reno which need plumbing to be job to be complete before our next phase. Called Mr. Rooter at 3 pm to see if he could come in today. He was at another job, finished off and was at my place in Durham within 2 hours. He completed the job, checked that it was done right and walked me through some other items I could manage on my own. He worked quietly, cleanly and asked me before he moved in and out of any area of the house. The rates are company ones and per the item being repaired not by hour. So if he took longer, I wasn’t getting dinged for that. A little higher than other contractors, but was the amount I was quoted. Renovations are stressful but having someone come when you need it, at the price you talked about, completed on time and well. It's worth the little extra.

We had a simple leaky shower head. A problem we'd been unable to solve. Mr. Rooter from Boulder, Colorado, arrived and worked for an hour. He cleaned our shower head and removed the cartridge from inside our shower faucet. Presumably it was replaced, at least he said so. When he left the faucet no longer worked properly and the shower head continued to leak. We called and dutifully he came out again the next day - same guy. He fumbled around again and explained to my wife what he had done. The leak got worse and the faucet continued to not work properly. I called yet again. The office staff was very nice. We had two people come out the following day to fix the issues.
They worked diligently and claimed to have found the prior mistake which was a screw not properly tightened. They reset the shower head and added additional support against the leaky pipe attachment. We briefly tested it before they left and all seemed fine. The head guy told us that he even adjusted things so we would have more hot water than before. How nice of him. Needless to say, next morning, the shower faucet still continues to not function properly and we have even less hot water than we had before, which wasn't even a problem when we originally called them. Save your money. Find someone else.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I had the absolute worst experience I have ever had w/ any home improvement I’ve ever had done. I called Mr. Rooter 1st thing on a Friday morning, after noticing water coming out from my hot water tank. They were able to send a technician the same day. When the technician, Scott, arrived, he was noticeably anxious & displayed behaviors, such as humming the same one line of a specific song over & over again for hours on end, profuse sweating from head to toe (despite it being mid-December), constant jaw clenching & throat clearing, etc. He surveyed the hot water heater & after a short time, determined that there was a leak in the tank & that it would need to be replaced entirely.
Based on the behaviors he displayed & the short time it took him to diagnose the issue, I wasn’t completely confident in his assessment. He recommended a completely different replacement hot water heater, one that was at least 2 feet taller than the existing one, which would require significant alterations to the existing copper piping, etc. He left to write up a quote in his truck, and remained there for 1.5 hours. Once he returned to my home, we discussed the quote & based on his recommendation, we agreed upon a new, much larger tank.
He started draining my existing tank w/ a motorized pump and after removing about 5 gallons of water from a 40 gallon tank, he asked me if I could keep an eye/ear in the motor while he left to pick up the new tank, which was located at a Lowe’s about 15 mins from my home. I did not feel comfortable agreeing to that, so he turned the pump off & left to pick up the new tank. 3 hours later, he was still gone picking up the new tank, so I called him, asking when I could expect him back. After 5+ hours of working w/ this Scott, the job was nowhere close to complete. I still had a broken tank that needed to be fully drained, detached from all existing piping, removed from my home, and the new tank installed. When he finally returned, his suspicions behaviors were intensified, he was sweating more profusely, he was now twitching & bumping into walls, and looked like he had scratches all over his face & neck.
I called the manager, Mike, and expressed to him that the Scott’s behavior was making me very uncomfortable, that he was nowhere near finished w/ the job, & that I wanted him out of my house or I would call the police. Mike’s “solution” was to call Scott to ask if he needed any assistance. This only further agitated Scott, so he acted rushed & told me several times that he had another job he needed to get to. At this point, it was getting dark & I asked him not to rush. He then began berating his boss & the company. He hastily removed the old tank & brought the new one inside.
At some point during this process, he nicked my wall, creating a hole, hit my cars side mirror, & made 3 huge gashes in my the side of my car, none of which I noticed until the following day. After bringing the new tank in, I spoke Mike, again & told him again that I wanted him out of my house. I told the technician, Scott, that I had a family emergency, & forced him out of my home, mid-job. I called Mike once again to tell him and he said he would be sending a senior technician, Lou, over. Lou’s arrived around 9:00 pm... 9 hours after the first technician initially arrived. Lou surveyed the work that Scott has done & was in shock. He completely disagreed w/ Scott’s recommendations & the pipework that had been done by him. He spoke to the manager, Mike, and from what I heard from Lou’s end of the conversation, it was a complete notch job.
Lou told me he would return first thing the next morning to complete an additional 3-4 hours of work... leaving me without any running water for 24 hours. Lou returned the next day, as promised & completed the job, which as he explained, took about 4 more hours & he charged me the originally agreed upon amount of $1,500!!! He handed me a card that stated if I give Mr. Rooter a 5-star review, I’d win a $100 gift card, as a consolation. I can’t, in good conscience lie online & have such a review, even for the measly $100 they “offered”.
This company should be ashamed of even asking me to do so, but more importantly, should have done everything in their power to make things right. I felt so unsafe w/ Scott in my house, who I can only assume was on some kind of drugs, & even after telling the manager that I was hiding in my closet, about to call the police, all he did to “make things right” was send over a competent technician & a measly $100 gift card. This company put me through hell, damaged personal property, & still charged me the full amount for the “job” & “labor”.

Then he said he was coming back the next day to see where the leakage was. October 17 he came and checked the water pressure and said we had a leakage and it was going to be 5500 to replace 65 ft of water line, but we wanted just whatever was close to the house so he said it will be 3300 for 35 ft of water line. He asked for a credit card and I told him that I was going to give him one because the one you used the day before wasnt going to have enough credit but he said I could use the one I already had because the card wasnt going to get charge. That it was only a formality for him to be able to start working the next day. So the same day I checked my credit card statement and they had charge me with 1100.
I called him and ask him why I got charge if he said that wasn't going to happen and he didn't even start working. He told me to call the office, I called them and the lady told me that they were going to call me the next day. Oct 18 I call the office and the lady said the plumber had call me but I didn't answered, I told her I didn't received any calls, she said she will tell him to call me back. He did and said he wasn't going to start the work until October 22, I asked him again why they charged my card when he said that wasnt going to happen. I told him I was just going to pay for the initial 200 and that I didnt wanted him to do the job anymore and he said I had to call the office for that. Called the office and the lady said the money was a retainer and she wasnt going to refund me that money.
This people told me it was illegal to shut off my water from the meter and that I needed a plumber to do that which I called the city and they said it wasn't true, they told me I had a leakage which I didn't, it was just water from the rain and because my house is lower than my backyard neighbor all their rainwater ends on my yard, so the plumber checked the pressure of the water and saw I didn't have a leakage but he told me I did. They lied about my credit card not getting charge until work was done and they misused the information I gave them to pay for the 200 and ended up charging me 1100. I put a complaint to the BBB, I already told everyone I work with to never make the mistake of calling them.

We called Mr. Rooter on a Thursday, due to a problem with a kitchen sink being clogged. Two employees of Mr. Rooter came out and said they were not able to remove the clog. They sent their camera through the drain and said that they believed we had a collapsed pipe. They said it would be necessary to dig up the area the pipe was under - and it would cost $4,000 (50% of it due immediately). They said they would send out workers on Friday. On Friday two servicemen came to the house and said they needed to excavate the cement In our office, located in the finished basement of our home. They jack-hammered out the entire length of our office room. Then they cut a hole in the pipe they had uncovered, and lots and lots of what they call "kitchen core" oozed out of the opening.
They vacuumed up all that poured and replaced part of the pipe they had cut open. They then called for another member of the company to come and scope the sewer line to again. The man who was doing the camera work had broken one of the cameras, so it was taking him over a couple hours to get another camera and get to our house. Because of the delay, the two workers refilled all they had excavated with cement and left. When the camera person arrived, he scoped the pipe and said there was water in it and there should not be water there, so they would need to excavate another part of our basement to the main sewer at a cost of $250/foot, so they would need another $3,000 (again requiring us to pay an additional $1,500 immediately).
We were then told that they do not work on weekends, so they would not be back out to finish the job until Monday. Over the weekend we had time to think about what had taken place and realize that there was not a collapsed pipe at all. When two different employees arrived on Monday they dug out a hole in the same place that the sludge had come out of and ran another snake - removing the clog. They then recemented the area and left. We then received a call from them the next week telling us that we still owed them an additional $550 and when would we be paying that. I told them that we had paid them $3,700 for what should have been a about a $400 clog removal charge.
I would suggest that anyone needing a plumbing service be certain to get a second opinion from a reputable plumbing company before they incur the ridiculous charges that were made to us. We also experienced a lack of communication not only between the company and us as customers, but also between the supervisors and the men doing the work. I would not recommend Mr. Rooter for any of your plumbing needs.

George called and came ahead of schedule at around 10.40AM. Tried Hydro-jetting as well as snaking. Removed lots and lots of roots, but still could not open up the drain. His supervisor came and located the blockage which was very close to the city sewer line. Actually, the sewer line belongs to the county and he was not able to give an accurate estimate until he calls the county office and finds out their regulations etc. But, he did mention that couple of large trees need to be cut down, need to dig down and replace the broken (not sure how it was concluded, experience may be - will give him benefit of doubt) clay pipes with PVC and the cost will easily run upwards of 10K!!
Read many bad reviews with people who had similar experience. I am yet to conclude, but for now will rate them highly for the following reasons. 2 people spent over 5 hours trying snaking, jetting, locating the blockage etc... George was very genuine and was completely spent trying is best to open the clog. The blockage looks genuine. They did not insist on full or half payment. I paid less than 30% of the contracted amount, no fuss. I have had experience in the past with plumbers who charged heavily despite not completing the work! Genuine company, Genuine people, Genuine effort at least in my case. I will certainly call them back for any future needs and will never hesitate to if George is available.

It turns out they have a price list that is fixed for types of jobs, but they won't even give you those prices over the phone. They charge $100 for the call out, although they say it's not a call out fee, but just to protect themselves from no shows. BUT, if you don't accept their quote to do the job, they charge you the $100 anyway. Sounds like a call out fee to me. And since you can't get any indication of what the job will cost before they come out, you're kind of stuck with it even if the quote is ridiculous. Then here he comes after 1:30 minutes. He checked the grinder by plugging the power cord, and started beeping and alarm went off then circuit breaker went off. He concluded in 3 minutes that it's an ELECTRIC problem and insisted that I call electrician.
I told him same issue happened 3 years ago, and serviceman had to remove the cover of the grinder pit and clean the junk. Junk jammed the grinder/lift pump. So, please remove the cover and investigate and check out the place there. "No," he insisted that it's electric issue. He charged me $46.99. I consulted an electrician and the electrical testing passed. No problem. Called Mr. Rooter later same day. After I explained and talked to the "manager" they said the same person will come back. Next day I called and confirmed they are sending someone. At 11 am they told me Mike will be there in 20 min. Again, 20, 30, 40, 50 and no one came. After one hour I called inquiring and they were rude and nasty, with same excuse of traffic jam. That is however, not a traffic jam time, it's a lie.
He finally came after 1:35 minutes. Went to the grinder and plugged it in and the alarm went off and then circuit tripped. He said I can put a new grinder and cost about $1,800 with tax. I told him, "You need to check the current one. I really think it's mechanical issue that is jamming the pump from working and tripping the circuit. Also, if you saying that it's electrical, what benefit a new one will do?!" He again, insisted that he will install a new one and I found this a rip off; just trying to make money and just like robbing someone. Totally unethical. Not only that, but because I did not want him to install a new one he became rude, and started swearing and on his way out continued to swear and made signs and more vulgar language.

Friday a.m. we discovered a water line leak in the front yard, we called Service Line Warranties to fix it, sent a man with a shovel. He dug a huge hole, said we would need to cut down our 30 plus year old Oak to repair the leak??? Roots were in the way, and still would be, asked what we were supposed to do in the meantime, replied nothing we can do. Called Rescue Rooter next, they sent Gary Saturday. He dug another big hole by our meter and said they wouldn't work on old Quest lines. $5187.00 to replace water line, told them needed more opinions. Gary left, and didn't fill in the hole he dug, neither did SLW! Mr. Rooter sent Carlos out Sunday a.m. He said he would repair the line, hopefully before the rain. I thanked him, we had been without water since Friday a.m. Of course the rains came as he was still trying to locate the leak which he thought was directly under the tree. He should have left then, can't find water leaks in the rain.
Instead Carlos stayed, and in the pouring rain, set up a temporary water line so we could at least have water until he could return to finish repairs!!! This was way above and beyond, especially after the dealings with the previous plumbers... I came home Monday to find Carlos had routed the line around the tree, thus saving it! I was in shock! Carlos worked and dug for hours to accomplish this. Carlos you are an awesome person. If this is any indication of the employees at Mr. Rooter they are greatness! They have a new, and loyal customer! I have never felt the need to write a review of anything until now, but this had to be done! Carlos would take nothing for all his extra time and effort. He said he just wanted to make sure we had water, and we're a Happy Customer. He succeeded in both! Thank you so very much Carlos and Mr. Rooter. A+++. P.S. Carlos also repaired the messes the other plumbers left!

I had a problem with my hot water heater. I called the local franchisee of MR. Rooter. My first mistake was that I didn't check the reviews. With a lot of bad reviews I would have known better and stayed away. That was my fault. I blame myself. 2 people came out to repair my water heater. I don't know why they would send 2 people but I should have realized that something was wrong. I showed them the water heater and within 10 seconds they started with "your water heater is old and it's not worth repairing"... Wait a second. I called for a repair and now they are trying to sell me a new water heater. They never even bothered to look at the heater or try to determine what's the matter. They never bothered to bend down and light it or try and do anything. They saw that it was 1 year past the warranted date and then went into selling mode.
The estimate: They emailed me an estimate. All it said was 1 water heater and installation and a price of $1,500.00. There was no make or model number, nothing. In New York we don't do business like this. This is the way scams are done and that's exactly the way Mr. Rooter operates. Let's scam the customer and screw them. I don't know if this is the way that they operate but I called corporate headquarters and nobody responded. The local franchisee charged me $40 to tell me that I needed a new water heater. This is a shady way to do business. The corporate phone number for Mr. Rooter is 254 745 2400 and ask for Linda in customer service. She was very nice. Took all of my information and did nothing.
The DWYER GROUP runs this company as well as a lot of others in the service sector. On their website they talk about VALUES. It is a total joke. It looks good in writing but they do NOT adhere to them. Scam the customer and take their money. Doyle James is the president of Mr. Rooter. He should be ashamed of the way his franchisees operate.

Estimated job would be well over 20,000. Paid in 173.00 that day. He indicated he would be back for final estimate. We have never seen him again. We called local plumber, Staas Plumbing to come in. The plumber's machine broke while trying to unclog the tub. The plumber quickly left after notifying us his machine broke. He said someone else would come. They told me it would be a few hours before someone could come. We were leaving for holiday weekend so we had to reschedule for the following Wednesday. We had to wait all morning but a second plumber came unclogged the tub and we paid their fee of the remaining balance of 245. 3 days later it was clogged again, we called again and were told that the last plumber that was there had to be the one to come out if not they would have to charge us all over again.
This was on Saturday, the plumber we needed was off Sunday so they booked him for Monday. Monday morning they called and said he was off Monday as well and they misread his schedule. So now we had to wait until Tuesday for him to come because if they sent someone else we would get charged another 310. We were not happy with this now going a few days with a clogged tub. We decided to call another service because we needed it done ASAP. We canceled the appt with Mr. Rooter. Only after we canceled and said we would write a bad review did they offer to send another tech for free. Which before they couldn’t do. This is just ridiculous. We will never use this service again. He removed the doors to the pilot light area, but after one look said I needed a new tank. I asked him to try to light it for me and he was hesitant. Then I told him to check out the parts for possible repair. He told he DIDNT DO THAT!!! What? I hired a plumber who didn't come to fix anything. Then he proceeded to write up an estimate for a new tank at the exorbitant cost of $1391.00. I put him out the door. I wasn't charged, thank goodness for that. He quoted me 200.00 to unclog and I agreed. After about 15 minutes he provided me an update stating that I had a broken pipe under my house. I asked for a quote and he came back with 10,700. Since I was in the middle of planning my Mother's funeral and had company on the way I explained that a temporary fix would have to work for now and I would get back with him later on the broken pipe. I paid him 200.00 and he left. The sink had drained, but the dishwasher and washing machine still had standing water. I turned the sink on and it would not drain.
The next day my Husband rented a machine and had all three unclogged and draining within the hour. To rent the machine it was 22.00. When we called the company back (Mr. Rooter) the guy said "Uh, oh well would you like to speak with my boss" and during the transfer of phone we were disconnected. I would not recommend this company. I called them out to take a look at our kitchen sink. When they arrived I explained what issues we were having and the technician said it would be an easy fix and should only take about 20 minutes. I asked how much and he told me it would be $391.00. I told him that I thought that was exorbitant and he said that, "I don't set the prices, I just go by what our system says." I called the office and asked for a manager and explained the same thing to him. He even seemed surprised by the price but then he asked someone else and they confirmed the same price. I explained to him that I thought the price was way too high for 20-30 minutes of work. He then asked me how do I know it will only take that long. I explained to him that even I knew it was only a clogged drain and that his technician told me that's how long it would take.
The manager then allegedly called the technician but could not get a hold of him. He then proceeded to tell me that they factor in the average price for jobs based on regional information. I told him I completely understand that but the price was still too high. He then told me that if the work only took 20-30 minutes then he would discount the job. Twenty seven minutes later the technician was done and requested payment. I informed him that he needed to call the office and he asked "for what". I told him that they said they would be giving me a discount.
The technician goes outside, calls the office and comes back in to tell me I would not be getting a discount and I needed to pay the full amount now that the work was completed. I cannot believe I allowed these people to come in my house and steal from me like this. Their process is likened to a scam. It's designed to drive up their profitability. They use the free estimates to get into your house. Then they bank on the fact that they are the first ones to come out and they are standing in your home and can solve your problem, sometimes. We refused to pay that much because it wasn't reasonable, so he took us to court and he ended up lying in front of a magistrate claiming he worked for 2 hours and did all these repairs, even though after he had left the sink was still leaking and the drains did not work at all!

We called Mr. Rooter because our water wasn't draining properly and a neighbor said that we needed a new grinder/sewage pump. We told them that we needed a 2 HP pump and they said ok but we had to pay half of the $2350 bill first. Unfortunately we were too trusting by paying the full bill instead. A guy came out with an industrial/commercial pump instead of residential. The plumber worked a full day trying to install it although it was obviously wrong because wiring was different. He finally gave up and called 3 other guys who came to help him for another few hrs. Finally the guy said he needed his supervisor to come because he was good with electronics. The next evening the supervisor came to tell us the store they bought it from had made the mistake but they could make it work with a $2500 control box! When he was told absolutely not he said there was nothing else they could do.
I asked why they couldn't bring correct pump and he said something about pressure problems. The next night they came and took their pump back and gave us a receipt explaining they were taking pump back and we would receive a refund within 7 days. That was 5 weeks ago and they still have not done so. We have called multiple times only to be promised a call back from the business manager with no response. Last week my husband threatened to drive over to their office so the manager took his call. Manager said that we would only get a partial refund because my husband asked for that pump. My husband reiterated that he gave specifications but did not ask for a commercial pump. The call ended with my husband losing his temper and telling him he would see him in court and manager said "ok."
I called the next day but got after hours girl who said she had heard about our dispute and my husband was wrong about the refund, that the business manager was drafting a letter and calculating what we are due. I told her I agree to paying a service charge and 1 hr of labor at the most because the plumber should not have needed 8 hrs to know that he had wrong pump (besides it was labeled on box). She said we would receive a call back but as usual we did not. How can we be charged for a pump we don't even have and for service that didn't even get completed? What do we do now?

Now we will need to call the handyman back to take apart our brand new toilet to determine what is causing the sewer gas smell.
Vlad was completely unprofessional to boot. A technician was sent out on July 12, 2017 after l had called the Warner Robins office for service. I had stated that I noticed water around my commode; the technician told me what the problem was before touching or looking at anything. He also gave me a price. He said that he replaced a wax seal which is questionable, the commode is less than a year old. Anyway, on the bill, it stated "Remove & Reset Toilet" $185.07. Of course, the problem was not the toilet but the drain from the shower needed to be replaced which was causing the water to flow over around the toilet.
A second technician hastily came in and said that everything looked fine and that the toilet was sealed well and he left after I had called to report that I was experiencing the same problem. I was told the real problem when the supervisor came out with the original technicians. Actually, the first technician who supposedly had fixed my problem mentioned that he had noticed a leak from the shower after he had taken my payment and was leaving. He even told me that they would deduct the $185.07 from the $600 that it would cost to fix the shower drain after the supervisor had come out and told what was causing the water around the commode. I was left wondering did the technician already know that the problem was not the commode but the shower. Needless to say, I was out of money that I could have used to fix my problem. I am thankful that I have gotten the problem fixed for a cost that was less than the $600 - $185.07.

I knew this was expensive because I had replaced one in my old house a few years before. 4 1/2 years later, the "best brand on the market" water heater began leaking.
First untrained professional who had to call his supervisor at least 4 times charged me $300 to replace the pressure valve, but he had to go to Menards to buy the part. Once he had the part, it took him 15 minutes to replace it. I went to Menards later that night and found the part for $15. It wasn't the valve, so he drained the tank and said he would have to bring a new one the next day. The first one was under warranty, so I agreed to let them bring a new one, but they were going to charge me $800 to install it!!! I talked to a neighbor who works for a different company and he said it shouldn't cost more than $350 total to install the water heater, and he nearly fell over when I told him about the $300 charge to replace the pressure valve.
Anyway, I called Mr. Rooter to tell them to drop off the replacement and I would have someone else install it. Surprisingly they were able to come down to what I would have paid the other company. They then said they would try to fit me into their schedule that day. I had to tell them that their employee drained my tank and I had to miss a day's work already. I will never use that company again!! I will say though that their employees were very nice, but generally, repair technicians are nice anyway.

Mr. Rooter is a horrible rip-off. Stay away from them. My water heater pilot light wouldn't stay lit. I tried lighting it several times. The LED blinked and then turned on (indicating that at least some of the electronics was working). The pilot also lit but wouldn't stay lit. I called Mr. Rooter. The repairmen (two of them) looked at the water heater and billed me $223.88 for flushing and cleaning. They said only after the cleaning will they know what the problem is. Then they said that didn't help and specifically admitted that the LED was working when they started but stopped working after their cleaning. That is, their cleaning did not fix anything but LIKELY broke the LED-related electronics. Then they said they have to get a replacement kit (control valve and flame sensor) and that would cost an additional $700+. First I agreed but as they left to get the kit I realized it was too expensive. So I called them off and paid them $223.88.
I then called Brenneco who could come in after a couple days. I have had great experience with Brenneco in the past (I called them before Mr. Rooter but they were not available the same day which is why I called Mr. Rooter). The Brenneco repairman looked at it and said the common case is to replace a small credit-card-sized circuit board but because the LED wasn't working a bigger replacement is needed (he estimated the cost to double). He emphasized that he did not know if the LED stopped working due to Mr. Rooter's cleaning. He fixed it and charged me $420 (1 year warranty). He also said that cleaning is included in any servicing (and not charged before charging for the real fix, like Mr. Rooter). So I incurred a loss of some $430 ($223 + half of $420) due to Mr. Rooter. What a rip-off.

This company is very shady. The personnel who have showed always seem like nice people but really be aware of their costs, services, and even phony claims. I recently had someone out to clean out my main drain as it was backing up some. First of all they charged 558.00 for that and a camera inspection which turns out to be more than double that a much better competitor's price would be. Worst of all he said that my whole outdoors drain was completely shot and that I needed to have it replaced and that would be anywhere from 6,000.00 to 10,000.00 dollars. He said it was full of breaks, etc., etc.
Pressured to sign for financing and to have the work done immediately. I wisely decided to get a second opinion from another very reliable company (whom I should have called in the first place but had accidentally called Mr. Rooter by mistake). They put the camera down there and first of all noted that the original cleaning was terrible and I could still see lots of roots and debris, etc. They couldn't find any breaks though. After doing a very thorough cleaning they did find one small break near the house (which they say that Mr. Rooter could never have seen because they had left so many roots in there) but said it wasn't an emergency. I could have it repaired if I wanted to (for about 1500.00 including putting in an outside cleaning hole) but that there was no rush. The rest of the drain was totally fine! I almost got ripped off for thousands of dollars!
On my first occasion with these people they way overcharged me as well. After several complaints and very frustrating phone calls (usually they would promise to call back but never did) I got someone to promise me a refund of 175.00 and that it was coming in the mail. It never did arrive and that is over a year ago now. I gave up. Bottom line, do not use this company!!!

Be careful when this company give you estimate. You'd better ask them what they do for the price they give you because it end up on me is the price they give me only for fix what they guess on what's wrong and does not have any warranty on if what they guess does not work. They will charge you while the other set of money for their guess does not work.
I paid over $280 for water heater clean and change toilet wax ring without any warranty with their work. When I call back to tell them the water heater cleaning does not fix the problem, they told me I can order the part online and they put it in for the other $100 without warranty again. My ceiling still wet after three days they made fix on my upstairs bathroom toilet max ring, I can not tell if the changing wax ring fixed the problem. If I ask them to check again, they told me $74 for only cut open drywall without any fix and reinstall. I am very regret when they give me price estimate I do not ask them what they are going to do. Now I could end up paid over $280 for nothing fixed.

I had a clogging issue in Jan. 2017 and had plumber come out. First day he ran snake down main toilet which I had taken off prior to him coming and after about 10 minutes he stated I had a septic problem and would need to have tank line jetted which would cost 650.00 for the first 2 hrs. Ok I knew it was going to be expensive and was told the tank would have to be dug up. There would be extra cost to dig up and I said we would do it.
When we dug the pipe up from the house to the tank it burst a small hole. Ok we waited until the next day when plumber came back out and I had dug up first section of tank. He pulled lid and said tank was full and line had to be replaced from house to tank and the baffle had to be replaced and a line for up above ground for future work when needed. Ok I agreed. He gave me an estimate of 2350.00 which included the 650.00 instead of cost of jetting but as a down payment which he processed before any work was done, which did not include draining septic tank which was full and a camera look down into the tank to see if everything was good which clearly stated I would not be charged but was never done. I then dug up third part of tank and he took lid off and stated baffle needed replaced there too. Ok I said.
He then went to Home Depot and bought material two baffles, one long pvc pipe and a short pvc pipe with lid and glue. This was all charged to me I am to assume. He put the piping in and said he would be back the next day to put concrete and gravel down around the piping going to the tank from the house. He did not show the next day and a week went by without any contact. I then got to adding up the costs and found it quite expensive for the minimal work he had done which was cost of material and labor and jetting for 30 minutes. I then texted plumber and requested a break down of all costs. He texted me back requesting my email and said he would go into office and get the cost.
Within this time period I called office to question the cost and was told his supervisor would call me that day. 2nd week I called again and was told supervisor would call me no call no costs. I then contacted my credit card company regarding the initial 650.00 and put a hold on it. Third week I got call from supervisor and was told he would get with plumber and would call me back that evening. No call. Next day (end of third week) supervisor calls and said he wanted to set up meeting at my home to discuss this.
We are now going into fourth week and supervisor several times went back and forth with dates and times to come out. 4 weeks to date and he gives me a time frame of arrive 8 to 11 on Feb. 17 2017. At 10:45 I texted supervisor to get eta and was told his truck is being worked on. Wasn't showing. I called manager had heated discussion and basically I was told oh well I paid. No effort to give me cost. I was charged extremely too high and wanted a partial refund at least the 650.00 back. Nope not going to happen. I felt scammed and cheated. And my toilet in main bathroom is leaking around pipe where plumber put back on AND was going to charge me. I am seriously wanting to go to small claims court with this for they have been non compliant with my requests and I am sure the cost was way too high.

The guy who came to my home was nice and courteous and seemed knowledgeable. I am talking about Mr. Rooter out of Hamilton, Ohio. Every time I asked for a final price after given an estimate, it changed and increased which is very shady. He finally worked up an estimate and I agreed to it. Then I was forced to pay $145 for a joke of an "Advantage plan" that supposedly saved me 20% on my final bill and on any future bills (there won't be any future uses for them). I was told at first there was no charge for it then all of a sudden on my credit card bill was a dam* charge of $149. I am challenging that charge. Then I did some digging and research of the parts that were needed for my job and the price of their labor. I found that these as* clowns charge over 5 times the amount for plumbing parts. I compared them to parts I saw on Amazon and Ebay.
I understand you want to make a profit, but that's robbery and fraud to charge those high rates and prices for parts. There's no excuse for that. I will be contacting the BBB and Angie's List. Whatever you do, DO NOT use this company. They totally screw customers and their prices are exorbitantly high especially compared to other Cincinnati plumbers.

And then he tells me that his brother will call back to schedule time so when his brother Brandon called me he said, "I don't know what my brother told you for the prices. Our cost is 132.31 plus $59 after hours." So when I mentioned about franchise coupon on the website for $25 odd with no provisions and expiration date of 11/31/2016 then he tells me that only applies during weekdays. The plumber came on a Wednesday, took a look and said we need a new water heater and couldn't come back till the following Saturday. He couldn't even do the simple fix on the toilet until the following Saturday! Saturday he showed up and didn't have the parts for the toilet. He said "oh, I didn't know you wanted the toilet fixed." I told him I had been VERY clear that of course I wanted the toilet fixed! Well, now he can't fix the toilet for, at the least, 2 more days! He put in the new water heater but didn't take the old one out. He said "oh, yeah, I couldn't get it out." OMG!
Then I looked at the new water heater and the electric cord going in to it was all frayed! I showed it to him and he said "yeah, I'm not an electrician." I said "but it is the cord going in to the water heater you just installed!" His answer again "I'm not an electrician". Then I asked him to look at the sink fixture as it was loose. He tightened it with his fingers and it was still loose. He said that was as good as he could do. He didn't even use a wrench! So now we have an electrical hazard, still a broken toilet and sink, an old water heater still in the basement, and he charged us $1030.83! I am calling to complain!

I had Mr. Rooter come to fix my septic back in December of 2015. They were to replace my old clay line between the dry well to the septic. I still had problems after the work they stated they did was done. I had to call them back out to snake the line because dirt got in there and another time because it was doing the same thing (coming out of the inspection port) only 6 months after they said they replaced the line. When they came out to check it I was told they would have to do additional work for a piece I said on the original job I didn't want they to touched (because the price was too high for that job proposed). I told the gentleman thank you and if we wanted to use them we would call. I didn't use them.
I went thru another company. When they came out to fix the piece (Mr. Rooter said was an issue from the original job in 2015) we I uncovered that not only was that not a problem (bc it didn't exist) we also say that they left my septic not hooked up to my dry well. I have called them serval times to finally get a call back stating they would make this right but I had to talk to the manager as well. Well he called and was as rude as ever. He basically called me a liar and said my other guy lied and took stuff out (which isn't the case).

These guys are a bunch of idiots. If there was a zero star rating they would get that 1 star is too much. My parents called on a Wednesday afternoon for them to "snake" the pipe. The guy they sent out broke the snake inside the pipe, so he said we had a broken pipe that need to be replaced. Thursday morning they dig up the front yard, (2 hrs work) take out the "broken" pipe and we don't see them again until Saturday afternoon, when they finally come to fix it. During the 2 hours they took to fix it they also broke an outlet in our garage (now we need an electrician). So we had an Open sewer pipe in the front yard for 72 hrs, and no use of the bathrooms.
My Dad is disabled. He can't just get up and run next door to the neighbors (who kindly let my Mom and I use theirs a couple times). Monday morning they finally finished it. They are trying to charge us $5,000. As of this review we are going to fight this. They only worked maybe 6 hours in the whole 6 days it took them to do the work. Will NEVER call them again!

Long story short, they tell me they can dig up the old line, and that altogether, a new line, sidewalk, and labor would be around $15,000.
It's now 2016. Today we have a local plumber come out and inspect the line after the gas company replaces the gas lines in our neighborhood and informs us of a leak in the sewer line because of tree roots. The local plumber clears out the sewer line and informs us nothing more is needed to be done. The sewer line is intact. It just needed the roots cleared out. Stay away from this company! First of all, they have a $65 dispatch fee which is not clearly explained. They give the impression that it's refundable if no work is performed. They are very unprofessional and discourteous. I called this company to check out a copper pipe leak in the attic, which I thoroughly investigated and confirmed that the leak was very small and only about 2-4 inches of pipe needed to be replaced. When the plumber came on site he informed me that there was a $140 fee to diagnose the issue.
Are you kidding me? Is this a computer or some sort of electronics that need a diagnostic fee? I decided to call the company and asked them if I already know what the problem is and where the leak is if I still need to pay a diagnostic fee and the lady put me on hold and then came back and said no fee will be required. The plumber said it's too hot to get in the attic now so he'll come back the next day. Which I agreed it was too hot to be crawling around.
The next day the plumber came back and asked me if I will be accompanying him in the attic to help him, because it's a two man job. WOW! who is paying who here? I said, "No, I can't do that." He then climbed up and a few minutes later stated that he was too tall to fit in the attic and it would be better if he could cut a hole in my ceiling. Also it would now cost me $450 because he has to use a special clamp tool instead of the torch, because it's dangerous. Wow! again. The tool is an expensive tool, but it makes the job easier so why charge me more? Don't charge me because the tool is expensive.
At this point I already lost confidence in him. The plumber said he could not do the job and left. He didn't even call headquarters for a possible solution. After all this... I called customer service and asked about a solution or refund and they told me that the plumber said he quoted me for 14 feet of copper pipe. Huh? We agree that we only needed to replace 2-4 inches. I told the supervisor that it's up to him to do the right thing based on the unprofessionalism. I will not ask again for a refund, but they lost my business to another company who gladly took care of the issue the same morning for half the price. Oh, and they used the clamp tool. Stay away from this company, there are too many plumbing companies out there that do not need a $65 dispatch fee and $140 diagnostic fee. They are a complete rip off. Shame on you MR. Rooter! Our FREE appointment turned into a $278.00 appointment in order to be able to determine the problem. Their camera "determined" that we had a broken pipe under our water heater in the basement. They wanted to jackhammer up our floor to replace the pipe for $3,400.
A few days later we had another sewage overflow after spending $400.00 to clean up the first. Therefore, we rushed to the phone to get Mr. Rooter out to break up our basement floor and replace the pipes. It took them 2 days to do all of this and cap off the sewage pipe because we removed the toilet. We spent $3,475.00 on this and $200.00 to clean up the second sewage overflow. We were told everything should be good to go.
HOWEVER, when my husband was getting ready for bed last night, he smelled the same smell we encountered with the last sewage leak. He went down to the basement and lo and behold the sewage had leaked all over the floor FOR THE THIRD TIME. We called the Mr. Rooter 24 hour line and were informed we may have to pay an $89.99 service fee in order for them to come out! Luckily, we got them to check out the problem for free, but now they are saying the constant over flow is due to a tree root that has uprooted our PVC pipe in the back yard. Of course, they now want to dig up our back yard and charge us another couple thousand to fix this pipe! Anyway, after spending less than 5 minutes looking at it, he went into the computer and pulled out a estimate of $379 plus tax. Sorry but I laughed and sent him on his way with his $48 service charge and a good lesson. In my opinion, they make a profit on the service calls without getting the job with their quoted price which comes from a rate book, I suspect. I bought a high quality Kraus KPF-211 for $269 and installed it in less than an hour. NEVER AGAIN!

After the job I was satisfied even though he said I would have to have them pumped again. This for me meant in another 3 years which I do every 3 years. In three days after this work, I had to call them back to pump the area they had worked on. The tech that was dispatched said that my system was overwhelmed and pumped the top off the first tech installed for free. This work cost $1729.50 that includes the septic tank pumped.
I talked with the supervisor and all he wanted to say was that he trained the first tech that did the work and he could see the reason he installed the top off. I called him several times and he did not want to work with me to get my problem fixed. I since have learned about a soil test from Google, which from the professionals (Mr. Rooter) I called would have suggested to find out the problem instead of a top off to keep pumping the chamber. I since have paid for a soil test and have the $3600.00 for new field drains that I would paid Mr. Rooter if they would have resolved the problem. Mr. Rooter-5120 N. La Cholla Blvd.-Tucson, AZ 85705 - My wife called Mr. Rooter, as our toilets were backed up. The call was for a "free estimate", as advertised on their website. My wife let the attendant know that we have a septic tank, and wanted to be assured that Mr. Rooter works with potential septic issues. The attendant said that they Mr. Rooter did. ** and ** came out to our home from Mr. Rooter. ** did some "work" utilizing an underground camera. ** said that we required a "septic tank rehab" at a minimum price of $6,200. He also said that the price likely could top $20,000... and pressured my wife to sign so that they could "start immediately".
My wife said that $6,200 seemed very high, and we were going to seek another estimate. ** said that she had to pay $300 for the supposed "free estimate" from him for the 10 minutes of camera work he did. Unfortunately, my wife did pay the $300... but later cancelled the check before it was cashed. The next day, my wife had another service come out. On or about Sunday, March 15, 2015, after seeing an advertisement on television, I called Mr. Rooter to assist with a plumbing issue I was having at my home. The day prior to my call, I hosted a repast for family and friends to celebrate the life of my father, whom I had just buried. The result of a house full of guests was a plumbing issue.
A Mr. Rooter technician by the name of ** arrived approximately 2 hours after my call to evaluate the issue. The original amount I was quoted to resolve the issue was $1,500 reduced to $950 since I was a repeat customer. ** explained that in order to do the required work, he would need to return to the office for specialized equipment. Upon his return, he was accompanied by you, Mr. ** and other staff, who began to inspect the plumbing system in my home.
After surveying the roof and sewage/plumbing lines, you informed me that the drains required a hydro scrub cleaning in order to clear sewage and debris from the drainage system. The price quoted to me was $950. I agreed to the service and watched as your employees set about attempting to scrub the drain, but somehow managed to miss snaking out the main clear-out area. During this hydro scrub cleaning, not only did the technician use my water for the procedure, he hit me in the head with my water hose; and, to top it all off, the hydro scrub did not resolve the problem!!! When someone finally checked the drainage pipes that lead to the street (leaving the clear-out door hanging from its hinges), is when this work order started to go south for me!!!
I was told that the tree roots had broken through my pipes near the sewage lines that drain to the street. It was explained that a different type of work would be required to clear this problem, which entailed wrapping the pipes with a protective covering to prevent future damage to the pipes. You explained that the work could not be done that day, that you would have to obtain a permit from the city and that the cost of the repair would be $7,310!!! During the explanation, you made the situation sound dire and urgent, as if my plumbing problems would be much worse if I delayed repair; the result could be damage to my foundation. Based on this explanation, I wrote a check for $731 (10% of the total estimate) and gave the go ahead to start work.
On Monday, March 16, I got a second opinion regarding my plumbing issue and although I was told someone from Mr. Rooter would arrive by 9:00 am, by 9:45 no one had arrived and no one called to say they were detained. I called the office to inquire about the estimated arrival time of the plumbers, not satisfied with the reply, I cancelled the order. ** and the other Mr. Rooter representatives showed up after I cancelled the order. I requested ** return my check (which was in his pocket) and asked all Mr. Rooter employees to leave my house. To make matters worse, when I called the office to cancel the work order, I was harassed as to why I was cancelling. I was inundated with a series of questions that I did not feel I had to answer. It's as if I never mentioned the major event which had just occurred. There was no empathy, no sympathy, no consideration or understanding of my emotional state.
All I wanted was just to cancel the work order and get your crew out of my house. The service I received was NO SERVICE at all. I feel Mr. Rooter was attempting to take advantage of me, tried to use the circumstances of my emotional state to their advantage and was only interested in the bottom line. The only goal of Mr. Rooter that day was to defraud a senior citizen out of $7,000!!! Your insistence of the urgency of the matter is evidence to this fact. Mr. Rooter representatives attempted to portray the plumbing situation as dire and by ignoring the problem I would face a much more serious problem which would cost a lot more than $7,000!!! If this company is really in business to help, it failed miserably!!! The only thing important to Mr. Rooter on this day was collecting a check.
To say that I am dissatisfied with Mr. Rooter would be an understatement. Mr. Rooter's attempt to take advantage of a grieving senior citizen; interest in only my money and attempt to use scare tactics in order to secure the work would have more than likely resulted in a shoddy job which only would have required me to call again in a few short months for additional work to be done. I'm just grateful I utilized the 3-day cancellation period to put a stop to this charade.

On top of that, one side of my field was ok, but now it will need replaced because they got a hose stuck in the pipe and then cut it off and left it. We had Mr. Rooter out on Friday when our basement flooded due to a back-up from our sewage line. They came in and ran the camera down and let us know that there were baby wipes clogging the line. We do have young children, and while they are typically really good about not throwing things in the toilet, I know it happens. So we agreed to have them clean out the line. This is where the problems started.
They did clean out the line, to the tune of almost $900. After they were done jetting it out, they advised us that our cast iron sewer line was completely rotted out on the bottom and GONE. They didn't show us a video, but rather a still image of said rotted out line. When we asked for an estimate in writing, they refused and just told us it would cost us $20,000 to replace and that we needed to do it ASAP. They advised to refrain from throwing TP or anything down the toilet until this work was completed. We advised we were going to get a second opinion, and at that point they pushed really hard to not have another plumber do the camera down the line, that it was already done, and that we just needed an estimate.
The refusal to give us an estimate in writing as well as the suggestion NOT to have it camera'd again left us feeling very concerned about their work. So just today we had a master plumber come in. Because of the situation they had agreed to do a diagnostic camera look, which cost over $300 less just for the look than what Mr. Rooter charged. When they got in there they advised that they could see corrosion, which is normal with cast iron, but they in no way could tell that there was any missing pipe. They advised they could see where there was a lot of corrosion sitting along the bottom of the pipe, likely from when Mr. Rooter supposedly cleaned it out. So we had to have this plumber redo the work that we paid Mr. Rooter almost $900 in total to do. I will do a separate review on the new plumber who spent 4 times as long ensuring the entire 117 feet of line was cleared out, and charged less than $300 total.
We called Mr. Rooter to complain that we had to have the work redone. All they could offer was to come back out and look at it again. I refuse to waste my time having them come back out and look at the work that the much better plumber did correctly. On top of all of that, the new plumber advised that even IF the line had needed replaced completely, it would have cost, at most, $8,000; NOT the $20,000 that Mr. Rooter 'estimated.' Lucky for us the mistake didn't cost near as much as it could have.
I feel for the older people that may call Mr. Rooter and get raked over the coals by their plumbers. We also had them run a water line about 9 months ago (after we purchased this house), which cost us a fortune and has spent the majority of this winter frozen. We are lucky that it hasn't burst and flooded our house. They 'cleaned' out our sewage line at that time as well, and obviously didn't do a good job then either. Mr. Rooter is a rip-off. NEVER use them.

Mr Rooter came to our house to investigate a problem with our toilet. The representative proceeded to turn on the water in the kitchen, in the bathroom and let them run a few minutes. He then turned them off and told us that the line was not plugged. He suggested that we use a different plunger and told my husband that perhaps he needed to eat more fiber. He did nothing else. There was no conversation about fees up front, but he asked my husband to write him a check for $159.66. He did not want a credit card payment and did not quote us a standard price for service. My husband wrote him the check against his better judgement and when we looked at the bank account a few hours later, the check had been cashed.
Our problem with this whole transaction was that we do not feel that turning water on and off, recommending a new plunger or new toilet was worth the cost of $159.66. I think that this company needs to revisit their business practices to include quotes for service and to give receipts. We have no proof of paying this consult fee (that is outrageous) except our cancelled check. I have never had a medical doctor charge me a price like that for a consult. After they came back for the second time, the toilet started leaking again the next day. They came to pick up the parts to fix them, but they never returned them. At that point we began to worry, and suspected some foul play at work.
We called Aaron several times and left many more messages, those of which were never returned. Two weeks ago, we called again, and they finally told us they would return the parts on Tuesday because it was too late on Monday, but they did not show up. After we called them several more times, they told us that they would come on Wednesday but when they did, they told us that the parts were in another worker's truck. We expected them to come back with our parts that day, but they didn't show up again so we called Aaron again. He claims to have so much experience in the field, and yet, he is unable to do something as simple as return our parts, or even return our phone calls for that matter. Even if he claims to be busy with other things, shouldn't we, the paying customer be serviced promptly and efficiently? He continues to assure us of his so called dedication and yet, he contradicts himself by not doing his job and continuously making excuses. We hope that no one else goes through the same troubles that we have experienced. We have been in business for 35 years, and have never had a plumber or any other services so deceitful and terrible. I called Mr. Don and left a message and he called me right back saying someone would be out later in the day. I received a call at 4:17pm saying that they were on their way. I met them to the house, the guys came in and checked out the job. The first guy got a flash light and found the leak. The guy made a comment saying, "There's about 3ft of water under this house" with an attitude. First off you are a plumber, this is your job. It's what you do. I feel that they could have gladly declined the job and told me to find someone else.
The guy continued to go to the truck saying, "This is the last job of the day. I'm not doing anything else. After this I'm going home." I feel that these comments should have been said away from the customer or not said at all. Once the job was finish he threw his flashlight and tool from under the house, ripped off his all in one and walked to the truck. I don't think this was right. It's not my fault that there was water under the house. I called as soon as I heard the water. The job was completed and it was very fast service. I have no complaints about the work. I just have complaints about the service. I then called the owner Don Williams about my concerns with the service and he apologized which I am grateful for but the biggest problem was that the associate called me back after I spoke with his boss.
The associate called me saying, "Ma'am, I did not have an attitude with you. There were ants under your house and I was trying to get out." My thing is like I said before, none of this is my problem. You are the plumber. If the job could not be done by you or you didn't feel like doing the job, you could have refused the job. I feel that he should have never called my personal phone back either after I made a complaint. It should have been just that. Do NOT Contact the customer with would have, could have, should haves. I'm in the hospitality business and I do not in any way treat my guest this way. I think these guys need a lesson in Customer service as well as how to speak to a customer.

Main drain backed up from recurring tree roots. A technician and an apprentice (very pleasant) arrived an hour and half late. They "cabled" the six inch line with a small auger and then showed me all the roots I already figured were there. They tried a few times but made little progress and recommended the hydro flush and would cut $200 off the already 3 something, charge it worked well. After 300 gallons of my water and almost 4 hours of my time, for a job they quoted at 2 hours their paid would not work, did not get at paper copy for over a week. Office girl called and repeatedly asked my credit card number, said it wasn't working. Called my card company, they said I was good for it.
Anyway I am caring for my mother who had heart surgery and can't always just leave. (Shes doing well) so my wife called me and said the basement stank and they had not replaced the clean out cap and it was nowhere to be found. So I called the local office and they said they could come out and do that and do the followup camera inspection for my warranty. So here it is Oct 1, two weeks after the initial visit at 2 PM and I am still waiting for my 11:30 AM appointment. Hope mom is OK. They charged me almost $1100 and Roto-Rooter only charged $170 five years ago. Have prices gone up that much?

Today September 17, 2014 we hired the company Mr. Rooter to come and fix a couple plumbing issues we had. Upon arrival (we were very skeptical of him being able to fix our kitchen sink, as my husband had borrowed a snake from a plumber friend and had tried already himself and was unsuccessful), the tech said he had a 90% success rate of fixing kitchen sinks with the same tool only larger. So my husband left in confidence that he would be able to FIX our sink for the quote of $600 which included service call and bathroom tub/pipe clog (mind you my husband could have fixed himself but just wanted to avoid the headache and hire someone since he’s busy running his own heating and cooling business).
Well what do you know - his larger snake was unable to fix kitchen sink clog so he said I will only charge you $106 for diagnostic fee (we already knew that wouldn't work) plus service call and tub was $271 and took him 5 min. I even offered (he used it) and brought out a ladder to make his job easier and gave him towels to clean up some water (he drained out). The tub clog was fixed. Our sink was not and we shelled out $383 (I used a coupon for $25 off I found whoop Dee doo!). Overall I was displeased with their services. My husband does not go on a job, give client a cost to fix furnace or a/c and not fix and still charge! What is wrong with these people! I guess that’s why the owners of Mr. Rooter is out on a vacay somewhere probably and we are trying to get by... because we are honest and take care of our customers :/ SAD.

This was a routine sewer service maintenance. The first technician used a 3 1/2" auger to clear a 6" clean out. Then, he said I needed a hydro wash to remove remaining roots for an additional $700 on top of $245 paid for clean out. When I called the office to ask why a 6" auger had not been used initially, I was not given a logical answer. After my third call, I was finally told a different technician would be out first thing the next morning with a 6" auger. That technician was delayed several hours, so I was rescheduled for after 5:00 PM that same day. As of 7:30 PM, no technician. Again, I called the office and was told they had rescheduled me for first thing the next morning. As of noon, no technician. Subsequent to my first call to schedule the initial appointment, I found the dispatchers to be condescending and not remotely helpful. Would have stopped payment on check, but they were quick to cash it. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the job to be done correctly.

My husband called for an estimate for our pipes under the kitchen sink that have been leaking. He said that the plastic fittings were no good, that they only last for a short while. He gave an estimate for $250.00 to replace two $7.00 fittings! He charged us $50.00 for the estimate. When my husband asked this will go toward the price of the work if we choose you? He said NO. So don't call Mr. Rooter.... First they are rip offs! Second they are crooks!

Mr. Rooter just blatantly ripped me off. I called Mr. Rooter about them snaking my plumbing and they told me they would go to my house and give me a free estimate to go to my rental property in Youngstown Ohio. When they arrived they said that they recommend Hydro scrubbing my line and that it would have a 3 year warranty that the line would be clear. So I said, "Sure if you can fix it for $550 I would pay for it." They charged my Credit Card before even beginning work. They then started work on the drain and in about 1 min they made a huge overflow of waste in my basement. They called me and said that they couldn't do the work and that they recommended that I pay them $10,000 to dig up the basement. I told them I didn't want them to do anything, and the guy said because they can't do the Hydro scrubbing that I would not be charged.
I ended up flying to Ohio from California to fix the problem with another plumbing company. After noticing that they did not remove the $550 charge from my account I began to call them. I called over 9 times and they kept telling me that they would remove the charges and that a manager would call me back. I never got a call from the manager and never got my money back. I contacted my Discover card and they reimburse me. But then Mr. Rooter sent them a letter saying that all the work was complete and that I never contacted them about their work, even though no work was done because they said they couldn't do it and they said I wouldn't be charged. I am so frustrated and I am now looking into taking them to court, not for the money but for the principle. It might cost me thousands to resolve a $550 issue but someone has to hold companies like this accountable.

Never patronize Mr. Rooter Plumbing. Its service is unreliable and it does not keep its promise as written in the plumbing repair warranty to provide subsequent service. It charged me excessively of $1,000 for fixing the clogging in the double kitchen sinks and connected drainage pipe. The company sent an inexperience apprentice and apparently had fixed the problem on the first visit. The same kitchen sink problem recurred and 3 more subsequent visits by the same incompetent technician still could not fix the problem and one of the kitchen sinks still clogged.
I called Mr. Rooter today and requested to send another technician to come for the repair. To my surprise, the staff answering my call declined to provide further service by saying that my warranty is void for the reason that some food stuff was found in the pipe. The staff demanded additional charges if I still need the repair. I protested and said the food stuff found had been in the pipe prior to the first repair and I did not cook in the house since the first repair as the house is placed on the selling market. Despite my repeated requests, the staff insisted not to provide further repair service.

We called Mr Rooter for sewage back up in our shower and toilet. They came on a Friday and snaked the line. They hit a blockage and said they needed to return and use a high-powered hydro jet to get through the line. This would cost $1000 more. The technician also insisted that our septic tank be emptied even though it had just been done 8 months prior. Upon returning on Monday, which left us all weekend without water, they used the hydro jet and ultimately caused further damage, completely blocking the line. The technician could not fix the problem and basically left it up to us. He walked away with $1600+ and did absolutely nothing to remedy our problem!

We had Mr. rooter come to our house (6/6/14) to get our clogged kitchen sink fixed. He said it would cost $205.23 but we had a coupon for 25 dollars off so the final cost would be $180.23. So after 2.5 hours he said, "I don't believe I'll be able to get it unclogged". So after trying, he left with our sink even more clogged than it was. The sink was full of dirty, rusty water. He left a dirty, soaking wet towel on our counter and a puddle of water under the sink. I understand not being able to get the clog out but I feel like we shouldn't of been charged the full amount especially since they had poor clean up and sanitation skills. I feel I should've just for this hours spent on trying to unclog the sink. I am very disappointed in Mr. Rooter and we will never be using them again.

I called to find out if they could give me an estimate for repairs of a simple stopped up drain pipe. They told me "CERTAINLY!" in a cheerful voice and explained it was their way of doing business. NO CHARGE to come by and look. Even told me where to get the coupons for a "Free" video scan. I told them I could not be here during the time frame they set but my wife or daughter could let them look. Since there was no charge, I saw no problem and asked them to leave me an estimate.
They came, did their video and then CHARGED my wife and I mean several hundred $ in charges. When she was apprehensive about paying since I had not told her anything, they said they had to have cash or credit card right away. This was well over $200 and they had done Nothing but LOOK. The Coupon was a worthless marketing gimmick. They would not even honor it. Their price to "fix" the problem was also about 3 times anyone else's. At over $900.
My advice is to stay away from these Friendly Folks, That is WHY they are so friendly and Happy to take your hard-earned money. Don't believe a word of that Free checkup. They WILL charge you several hundred $. If you don't believe me and do it anyway, please post back here so maybe your experience can help save someone else.

I hired Mr. Rooter, Sanford Florida, on 2/17/14 to find a water leak in my home. They quoted me $250 for a detailed leak diagnosis report. The technician showed up and took about 2 hours to do his diagnosis. He insisted that the house be very quiet. As I did some work in my office, the tech went around unplugging my kitchen appliances. However, the leak was in the bathroom and office. He never told me he did this.
After he was done with his leak diagnosis, he said, I would receive a detailed leak location report once he returned the office. I gave him the $250 and he gave me an invoice with scribbles on it. He went to his office to process and send the location report showing where the leak was. This is important because plumbers need to know where the leak is to repair it. I left my home because without the leak location report, I couldn't hire a plumber to fix the leak. I left my home and went back to the hotel (I was there because the water couldn't be turned on due to the huge leak).
I returned to my home on 2/18/14 to meet with the drying company and noticed the fridge (freezer) was not cool when I opened the freezer. I look to the right only to realize the tech had unplugged my fridge and not plugged it back in. I reported the loss of food to Mr. Rooter and as of today, they have not replaced my loss (now thawed) food. I waited until 2/21/14 for this report and response from Mr Rooter. I heard nothing and never got my report. Frustrated, I paid another plumber to find and repair the leak.
As of today, 3/16/14, I have loss food expense, an extra leak detection diagnosis expense and I never received the leak detection report I paid Mr Rooter for. I have reported them to their corporate office to no avail. The manager keeps saying he's waiting on my insurance company but he was paid in full. Mr. Rooter (Sanford, Florida) had his secretary call me to offer me a settlement of refunding my $250 and $200 for the loss food. It was conditional if I removed my online reviews. I refused because I have not received any refunds to this date. I have contacted their corporate office as well and to this date, I have not gotten my refund!

The mr Rooter told me they would have to jack hammer the basement floor and the top of the line snakes would be no help for $4400.00. Bill praised his company roto rooters proud who he worked for and found another way in no one else mentioned or considered.

We've had an issue with our main drainage pipe leading from our house to the sewer line since we moved in to our house. We have a broken riser that has caused our pipe to come disconnected from the city line. Every once in a while, it gets clogged and we have to call a plumber to snake the line out. Just after Christmas, it clogged again. We called Mr. Rooter to unclog the pipe as they were a little less expensive than another plumber we'd used before. In the process of snaking the pipe, they got their snake stuck in the pipe and told us that they had to cut into the pipe to get it out and that they would patch it up when they were done.
Four days later, every drain in our house backed up, including the toilets. We dug up the pipe that they had "patched" and sewage started bubbling up. We immediately called them and asked how they had patched the pipe and what kind of adhesive they had used because it had clearly already failed. We were then told that they don't use any adhesive, that they just cover the pipe with a piece of metal and then pack the dirt back down around it. When someone says that they will patch something, one would assume that that means that they would seal the hole!
We demanded that they come back and properly patch the pipe. First, the woman on the phone tried to tell us that the pipe was backing up because of the broken riser and until that is repaired that it will continue to back up. We explained that we know that and completely understand it, but that there is sewage coming up out of the area in the pipe where they cut and "patched" near our house, not in the yard where the line meets the sewer. It is unrelated. She tried to argue about it a little more, but we insisted that someone needed to come back and take care of the poorly patched pipe that they had cut. They said someone would be out that day. No one came.
At 6:00 pm, after we'd waited at the house all day, the after-hours operator called and said that they were too busy and no one could come and they were also too busy the next day so they would call us on Monday. We told them that was unacceptable and we needed someone out the next day. They caused the problem; they needed to prioritize the repair. The girl promised someone would call me at 8 am. No one called. No one called the whole day or Monday. We work during the week and can't be home during the day to wait for the plumber (who probably won't show up anyway, given the previous weekend experience), so the next Saturday, we called back and again demanded someone come out and fix our pipe that they cut to get their equipment out of.
Keep in mind, the whole week, we were unable to use the dishwasher, clothes washer, or to flush any of the toilets more than once/day or everything would back up. The same rude receptionist answered and told us that she'd have the manager call us back. No one called. At 4 pm, we called back again and demanded to speak to the manager or highest ranking person there. The same receptionist claimed she was the only one there and she was just the dispatcher. At that point, she told us the manager wouldn't be in until the next day and she'd have him call us then.
I feel that we've given them more than ample opportunity to correct their error, but they are clearly dodging us because they know what they did was improper. I've spoken to several other plumbers and a contractor who all said that main drain lines should never be cut and if a plumber ever did have to cut in to a line like this due to their own error, then it is their responsibility to reseal the pipe and leave it in the same condition that they found it. We are in the process of attempting to contact their corporate office, but my hopes are not high given the quality of customer service we've already received from the OKC franchise.

The technician suggested that I call a landscaper to fix the problem. The amount of time expended to fix one drain was less than one half hour, and the total amount of time they were in my home was less than an hour. Having not received a response to my letter, a few weeks later, I wrote complaint letters to the Better Business Bureau and New Jersey Consumer Affairs. Neither of them could help me. So I then filed a complaint with Angie's List who sent me a copy of Mr. **'s response. This response included a number of mistatements by **. They are as follows: 1. That I had agreed to the quoted price (Yes, I agreed but the contract was for clearing five drains and not just one). 2. That there was no charge for a machine used to take pictures of two of the drains that they could not fix. The normal charge for this he claims is $373.00. I did not request these pictures and do not need them if, as they suggested, I am to call a landscaper. 3. That the technician spent more than one hour at my home. Believe me, this is not true.
4. That they only heard of my dissatisfaction four months after the fact. As stated above, my letter to Mr. ** was mailed immediately and my letters to the Better Business Bureau and New Jersey Consumer Affairs followed shortly thereafter. Since all of this took place within a few week after Mr. Rooter's visit to my home, Mr. ** certainly was aware of my complaints long before the four months he alleges. I should add that after I searched Mr. Rooter on the Internet and found many complaints against Mr. Rooter of Midland Park, New Jersey as well as Mr. Rooter organizations throughout the country, I certainly would not have contracted them had I done this search originally.
