We just moved into our new home and all the products are Jenn Air including the dishwasher. This is a high end appliance package - top of their line. So first, it is the quietest dishwasher we have ever had and we've had KitchenAid and General Electric. It also cleans beautifully. Perhaps some of the criticisms are for an older model or a different model but their top of the line is absolutely terrific... so far.
Do your research. These are terrible (Jenn-Air JDB8200AWP3). After researching several credible sites on dishwashers Jenn-Air came up as one at the bottom of the pile, but upon persuasion from my builder and being told about all of the wonderful customer service that they had and that she herself owned the same one and it was wonderful I went against my better judgment and went ahead with the purchase. The dishwasher immediately began having problems such as running and never shutting off, making various noises, and not cleaning the dishes well... and that customer service that I heard so much about quickly disappeared as I live in a rural area and the certified service company that they used took over a month to come out, repair, and get the unit into working order.
Shortly after that repair within another six months the unit began dumping water randomly on my brand new hardwood floors and again began running without shutting down again... (do not start these unattended or use overnight). After several attempts to again get service out to fix the problem they finally gave up and called another service provider in my area who completely went through the dishwasher. This was at the end of my warranty and within a week of service the lower wand blew off and landed on the heating element melting it and ruining it (probably used it 4 times after service).
Upon calling the wonderful service department I was informed that the arm coming off was not caused by the maintenance that was performed because it would have come off the first time I used it not after the 4th time and that the dishwasher was out of warranty and they would no longer pay for any work on the dishwasher. READ THE REVIEWS. DO NOT BUY JENN-AIR, KENMORE, KITCHENAID, or any other brand made by Kenmore DISHWASHERS!!! Don't make the same mistake that I made.
I called this morning to get a heads up on an issue I'm having with a dishwasher. The customer service folks seemed to only be able to tell me why they couldn't help me! My dishwasher is about 5 years old. I installed it as part of a kitchen remodel. I have had numerous issues with this high-end unit JDB3200AWS FY3101053. All surrounding the complete draining of the unit. It worked fine for a couple of years and then it didn't drain after each cycle. Pushing the cancel button would drain the unit. But I took the pump apart and found a small bummer that must have fell off one of the cabinet drawers or doors and some them got into the pump. I thought for sure, even though the item looked to be small enough to move through the drain without issue.
Well once the unit was back in service the same thing happened, wouldn't drain. I went and reset the power again and the damn thing worked for over a year. But now I'm back to the same place. Yesterday, I went up to my local appliance parts warehouse, Dayco Supply, I've dealt with them for years, I've owned a HVAC business for 40 years, so I've been around the block more than once working on any number of appliances. I want to get a new pump and water clarity sensor to see if that would fix the problem. I noticed the pump was redesigned and they had 12 clarity sensors in stock. I was all but sure replacing these two parts I would be home free! Not so much, same problem! All I wanted it to talk with a tech to get an idea of how I should proceed. I'm all but positive others have had a similar issue.
Based on my experience the next step would be to replace the brains (control circuit pack). I had to rate you with only 1 star and I can tell you this is the first time I ever rated a company that low. I'm a 4 or 5 star kind of guy! Good service deserves notice and poor service should be pointed out! I can be reached at **if you have the mind to give me a jingle!
Last thing, in looking at your other reviews, I'm not sure why I bought your product in the first place. That is something you should be concerned about even if you are unable to help me. You can't satisfy everyone as I found out, I had a 5 star rating for many years on Google and this year I was dinged! Now I'm at 4.9! The point here is you are at less than 2 and that should tell you something.
Several years ago we bought a Jenn-Air dishwasher and had several minor problems with it (rusting racks). Then, after about 5 years it started randomly overheating. We would start it before bedtime and it would still be drying in the morning and the countertop over the washer would be very warm to the touch. It melted several utensils and dishes. After reading about fires caused by overheating dishwashers and seeing Jenn-Air had several recalls for this problem we contacted them and they denied our model was subject to recall and they refused to take any other action. After contacting a consumer affairs agency, Jenn-Air contacted us and replaced the dishwasher.
Now, barely two years later, the replacement dishwasher is no longer cycling. Last night a one-hour wash that was started around 8:00 pm ran throughout the night. Several trials today have obtained similar results. When I contacted Jenn-Air their only response was to offer to schedule a repair visit or to sell us a $350 service contract. When I asked for troubleshooting information that might allow me to find and fix the problem myself they said they had no information for me. Their website claims to offer "exceptional customer service" but this seems anything but. I think I've found the part that might be malfunctioning and will attempt to make the repair myself, but that's no thanks to Jenn-Air. After these two experiences, Jenn-Air (Whirlpool) will no longer be a brand of appliance we will even begin to consider when we need to buy new appliances.
My top of the line Jenn-Air dishwasher has been out of commission since Thanksgiving. Took 3 months to get a part, finally fixed in February and since then has crashed 3 times. Currently out of commission again waiting for parts. My oven has had a recall, cooktop has been repaired twice. I am so disappointed in these appliances and Appliance Factory Outlet. Manager is rude and they do not stand by their products. Never buy anything from these people and certainly not Jenn-Air.
I have this dishwasher for 10 years now and the only thing that keep breaking are the CHEAP ** clips on the racks. I have been trying for a year now to get replacement parts but Jenn-Air said they do not make them anymore - I should buy two new racks.
Bought high end Jenn-Air dishwasher from Western Appliance, San Jose. Haven't used it more than 10 times in the 3 years we have owned it. Just quit working. Took apart and tested. Power all the way to board. Panel on top of door won't light up and the door will not close. We have had nothing but problems Jenn-Air products. Oven had to be repair under warranty for defective control panel. After new panel was installed, the new one went bad after about a year. Wanted $800.00 to repair.
A few years back we replaced our very old dishwasher with a brand new Jenn-Air. It has been nothing but problems! It doesn't start, it intermittently won't let you chose the wash load (heavy, normal etc..). I have never had such a lemon before!! Will never ever buy Jenn-Air again. It is nothing but a piece of garbage. Would not recommend anyone buying their products. Worthless expensive crap.
Approximately 8 years ago I bought a Jenn-Air dishwasher. I've replaced the lower wheel assemblies, several of them twice. The clips on the wheels are very flimsy. Now I need to replace several of the tiny pivot clips, also very flimsy. After a series of frustrating calls with Part Select, Whirlpool, and finally Jenn-Air themselves I am told one of the 3 parts I need is no longer available, no longer manufactured due to a plant closing somewhere. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I purchased a Jenn-Air dishwasher in 2008. If it worked 5 times that is a lot. The control panel keeps burning out. I realize that it is only my wife and I, and we rarely use the dishwasher. It should still work. KitchenAid contracts their work through Wind Service. That is another story since blind monkeys could do a better job on repairs. I simply received a lemon and Jenn-Air will not send any more service calls and after several attempts at repair, it seems futile. They said they would pro rate the value. After seven years, when it should have been repaired at the get go, I'll probably toss it and buy a Bosch. Very unsatisfied with Jenn-Air, to say the least.
My Jenn-Air washer broke around 1 year old. I called and they nicely said that they would have one of their authorized service technicians repair it under warranty. C and E appliances out of Southbury was the service company and their response was ridiculous. They scheduled an appointment and never showed. They never answer their phone and their voicemail is often full. I called back Jenn-Air back. They acted surprised and said they would look into it and call me back the next day. They never did. C and E called back and left a message saying nothing. I called them back and asked via voice mail (you never get a live person) to just give me any date, anytime and I will make sure I am here. Never heard back. I bought thousands of dollars (dishwasher, oven, microwave and refrigerator) from Jenn-Air but will never spend another nickel on them. Their service is terrible and stay away for C and E appliances. They are terrible.
My dishwasher only cleans when you use the heavy clean cycle, super scrub extra rise. If that wasn't bad enough the top rack broke. I would say this is a fluke, but my cooktop that I rarely use in my basement half the burners do not work.
I purchased 16,000.00 worth of new appliances for my new kitchen on 3-24-15. By purchasing the 7,500 Jenn-Air Range, I qualified for their free 1,500.00 dishwasher. The Jenn-Air JDB9200CW has never worked right. It will not dry my dishes. If I leave dishes in over the weekend, they have mold growing on them. Service repairman has been out several times. At first, they said my water was too soft and had me change dish soap. Now, they are saying my water doesn't get hot enough to dry the dishes. Before I start the dishwasher I run the water until it is super hot, that doesn't work either.
I think they are making excuses. The dishwasher cycles are very long at least 2 hours. Common sense would tell you that if the water is hot when cycle starts, by the time it starts to dry the water would have cooled off. Duh... What a piece of Junk. I have lived here for 18 years and had several cheap dishwasher that worked great and always cleaned and dried my dishes. My water softness and temperature hasn't changed. The only thing different is the dishwasher brand. My dishwasher is useless and I am stuck handwashing and drying dishes. I will never purchase or recommend a Jenn-Air appliance again. Don't buy Jenn-Air.
This dishwasher has been the worst consumer experience of my life. I have continually has brown crusty granular particles on my dishes. I have contacted the company and have done everything they way to try as well as an appliance repair person. I have tried certain dishwasher detergents that are suppose to be better. I grind my garbage disposal before starting the cycle -- and run the hot water in the sink until it’s hot before starting it up. It's at a point now that I can't even use it. Back in 2008, it cost around $800-$900 dollars. So you might be thinking it’s an old dishwasher now-- but it hasn't cleaned the dishes well since the warranty expired.
I know this is going to sounds nuts, but I don't think I have ever HATED an appliance, or anything or anyone, for that matter, as much as I hate my dishwasher. Consider this a public service announcement. Right out of the box, it was a complete pain, it never really got my dishes clean, no matter what. And the machine was expensive to boot! Approximately $1300 - what was I thinking? This supposedly state of the art dishwasher does not do its job. I have to rinse (practically wash) everything before putting it in the dishwasher. If I don't, everything will come out with baked on food - with every cycle, including sanitize or heavy wash! And every cycle is an eternity...not one "quick wash" cycle. Before our house burned down, I had a Bosch, which I loved dearly. I would never have broken up with my beloved Bosch, but for the unfortunate fire.
I could put dishes and silverware directly into the dishwasher without ever rinsing them off and they would come out sparkling clean. Isn't that what you expect from a dishwasher! I have to basically wash everything before putting it in the crappy Jenn-Air dishwasher, and many times wash it all again after I remove things from it! I have tried it all, dishwasher cleaners, vinegar, dishwasher detergent with phosphates, dishwasher "boosters", JetDry. I am disgusted, and I think I have been beaten. I want my Bosch back, boo hoo! I understand that this is supposed to be more "green" and use less water. Hello, Jenn-Air??? If I am essentially washing one load THREE times, that is a tremendous waste of water! Nothing green about it. About the only nice things I can say are that it is an attractive appliance, and very quiet.
But I don't need something pretty, quietly sitting there, taking its sweet time, NOT doing its job in my home! (I've worked with enough people like that!) I have contacted Jenn-Air, their customer service is awful and dismissive... They got my money, won't do anything further and they don't care about pleasing the customer... simply awful.
We have a family of 12 and bought two new design put into a completely remodeled kitchen. They clean fine. They take forever and forever to run the shortest cycle. They wreak of rotten nastiness. I rinse the filter out every other day, bleach both insides out between every cycle. Smells like barf, always. Both dishwasher have leaked for a total of over 15 times in 18 months, resulting in warping our floor and wrecking the invisible seams in our seamless white granite. The repair man has been out over ten times for the dishwashers. I hate them. Shocked that both are total lemons. Never Jenn-Air again.
The dishwasher seems to work by sound. But the dishes comes out always have white residue. I tried many brands dishwasher detergent. Some work better but still some white residue.
Responding/adding to a post July 2014 from another person. He stated his dishes won't come clean. I had the same issue, plus, an odor, plus making a bad sound. I finally took apart the dishwasher--the bottom parts. What I saw was absolutely shocking and attributable to a horrendous design. Every single part that unscrewed in the bottom of the dishwasher was FULL of black sludge. It could not be good to eat off dishes coming from this Jenn Air. How could that happen? I always rinse my dishes before washing, clean the washer regularly, etc. It took an hour to scrub everything and sanitize. One BIG issue is that the drain in the bottom of the dishwasher is higher than the bottom of the washer--so dirty water is always standing there. I'm purchasing another brand--soon. I won't go thru this again. I have never had any luck with any Jenn Air appliance. Had a ss refrigerator that was a lemon, their gas range, too and now the bad design on the dishwasher. Don't buy Jenn Air--it looks nice but you will regret it.
Bought it new when I remodeled kitchen. Worked fine at first. Now a few years later the plates don't feel clean and the glasses are cloudy. Coffee mugs have white residue in them after the rinse and dishes are supposed to be clean. Have tried different dishwasher cleaners, usually Cascade. Keep Jet Dry rinse dispenser full... Try other detergents? I don't know...
I called Jenn-Air to schedule service on my dishwasher and to see if I could order new racks. A contact person said I qualified for extended warranty and quoted $309.95. She said it covered parts and service calls for a year. I asked if that covered rusted racks. Yes, she replied without hesitation. I expressed amazement and repeated the question. She reassured me that the racks were covered. I told her since the racks were covered, I would take out the contract. She said a copy of the contract would be emailed. I waited an hour for the contract to appear and called back. I was told it took 2-3 days to process. Before I received a copy, a service call was scheduled. During the service call, I was told the rusted rack pieces had damaged the filter & also, a Jet-dry dispenser needed replacing. On the return visit with the parts, I was told the racks were not covered. I declined the work & parts which totaled now $600, the price of a new dishwasher. I called to cancel the contract due to fraudulent claims. I was told I would have to submit a written letter and it would take 4-6 weeks for my refund, even though my money had been immediately taken.
Two days ago we had the second incident of our dishwasher going into some sort of extended, high-heat drying cycle that melted the plastic handle of a rubber spatula and melted holes in the bottom of the silverware basket. This same sort of thing happened a little over a year ago. Is this something we can expect to happen more and more often? Makes me think we will need to replace this unit soon.
Bought Jenn-air appliances when we remodeled our kitchen. The dishwasher never cleaned the dishes well, leaving food particles on dishes, so I've always had to scrape and rinse them before putting in dishwasher. About a week after the year's warranty expired, the top rack broke and has to be yanked up and into place before I can wash the dishes.
I never know if the dishes will come out cleaned or have food all over them, looking as if they had never been washed. The Jenn-air refrigerator I bought at the same time is a piece of junk. The rubber gasket around the door is coming apart, and not long after buying it, the plastic front of the wide storage drawer popped out. I have glued, cemented, and taped it to try to keep it from falling out. It has also been making a loud strained noise when running. These appliances are less than five years old, and I know that we will have to replace them in the not-too-distant future. I haven't mentioned the range and microwave because they were replaced due to a power outage. Did I replace them with Jenn-air? Never would I buy Jenn-air again. What cheaply made appliances they are!
The usual story.... Remodeled our kitchen and wanted to buy "top of the line" appliances for home owners on an limited budget. I could have bought the low end of the really top of the line appliances, like Wolfe, but wanted to buy what we thought were the Jenn-Air products that I have heard so much about over the years. Spent over $8K in appliances and got a "free" dishwasher (JDB3600AWS5). The pump failed twice in two years, had a service call on the microwave, stove top and oven. Were told they were made in the USA, only to find that they are assembled in the USA. The microwave was made in Japan, and that we knew. The $1200 range hood was made in Mexico.
We have numerous calls on the cook top and still it snaps on occasion with the electric start. Bought the appliances from Gerhards in Glenside, and that was a mistake. Was promised a three year warranty and still fighting over this two years into the ownership. All I know is that at least once a year from here on in, I can expect to replace the pump on the dishwasher. That is why it was free. They make the money on spare parts and generate service work. Jenn-Air and Gerhards and Gehards service are on the bottom of my list.
I had this cook top only six years and it had never worked right from the beginning. I called a Jenn-Air dealer and it could not be repaired. To repair it would have been 900.00 dollars. They could not get the screws out of the eyes. I have been without a cook top for a month.
I am so dissatisfied with my "supposedly" state of the art Jenn-Air dishwasher. I have to rinse everything before putting it in the dishwasher. Otherwise the dishes and silverware come out with baked on food no matter what cycle I use. I had an Asko prior to Jenn-Air and it was wonderful. I could put heavily soiled dishes into the dishwasher without rinsing them off and they would come out sparkling clean. That is what I expect in a dishwasher! If you have to wash everything before putting it in the dishwasher, why bother owning a dishwasher? I guess I got spoiled with my Asko. The only reason I bought Jenn-Air was because I remodeled my kitchen and wanted all stainless steel appliances so I opted to replace everything with Jenn-Air. Big Mistake!!! Will I ever buy another Jenn-Air dishwasher??? No way - they couldn't give me one.
I had it in last house, and I sold the house, now I'm renting and it's same dishwasher. I hate it! Doesn't wash at all! The dishes look same when I put in and take them out!
Purchased new Jenn-Air appliances when remodeled kitchen in 2009. Thought we were buying the best. The dishwasher motor was replaced in 2011... which was covered except for labor. I can't seem to find the right detergent to use. My glasses are too cloudy. Normal wash does not clean. Have to use the Heavy wash cycle. The Jet Dry type product recommended only made the problem worse. After the motor was replaced it's not as quiet as before. I have used 4 different appliances in different homes. GE was the best. It's disappointing.
My Jenn Air dishwasher model # JB3200AWSS was purchase in Aug 7, 2012 from Seattle Home Appliance in Seattle, Washington. Seattle Home Appliance contact info is: 18811 Bothell Way NE, Bothell, WA 98011, (425) 485-0552. Electric touchpad and control panel has been replaced 3 times in a twelve month period, and the drain pump was replaced. I called Jenn-Air right before my one year warranty was to expire to express serious concern about the state of this extremely unreliable dishwasher and they gave me an extended two year warranty. No less than two weeks after they granted the extended warranty, the control panel touch pad went out again. The last time the machine was to be repaired, I asked for the dishwasher to be replaced. I believe the machine is a lemon and according to Jenn Air, they are only willing to continue repairing the machine and not replace it, per my new 2 year warranty.
With the amount of time the dishwasher was out of commission in the last twelve months, I have calculated that I have spent about one month hand washing dishes while I wait for parts and service. I am furious that no one at Jenn Air will resolve this mess and replace my lemon dishwasher! This machine has been consistently faulty since we purchased it. I think four repairs in a twelve month period is unacceptable and I have asked in no uncertain terms for a replacement, and my request has been denied. Here are the repairs made by Seattle Home Appliance: Again, machine was purchased Aug 7, 2012.
12/05/2012 - Touch pad replacement (part #W10208764), CNTRL-ELEC + CORECHARGE10 (part #W10285178)5/28/2013 - Pump Drain Replacement (part #W10158351)
7/15/2013 - Touch Pad replacement (part #W10208764)
8/16/2013 - Touch Pad Replacement (part #W10208764)
We have an 8-year old stainless steel Jenn-Air Dishwasher JDB2100AWS (spent $1,200) which came highly recommended because of its reputation. It washed well under all settings. We had no problems with the motor. My only complaint is that the parts were inferior. First, the bottom rack rusted, which had to be replaced. Then the middle rack rusted, which had to be replaced and now the middle wash-arm has broken off and I have contacted numerous parts suppliers including Whirlpool / Maytag / Jenn-Air to be informed that the manufacturer has stopped manufacturing those parts. I am still searching the web for those parts. Solution given to me was, "Buy a new dishwasher".
The racks are falling apart. Now my panel is completely out. It will not start and does not do a good job cleaning either unless you run the lightest load on Heavy Load. It's 5 years old. I will not purchase this brand again.
