Here’s a smoother version with the same points, just tightened and better flowing:

    > In 2021, I purchased two motorized TDBU cellular shades for just over $2,000 from the Budget Blinds of York and Hanover franchise. They were installed with Simplicity motors and integrated into my smart home using a Neo Smart Hub. This setup was recommended by the franchise at the time of sale and allowed for Amazon Alexa voice control and scheduled automation. Those smart features were central to my decision to buy and are still advertised as part of Budget Blinds’ Smart Home offering. The franchise has now told me I can purchase a new hub after they install a new blind, but they have refused to tell me what that hub would cost.

    > On June 20, 2025, I submitted a warranty claim for a minor stain on one shade under the “No Questions Asked Lifetime Warranty.” Since then, I have exchanged more than forty emails with the local office. I still do not have a claim number, a clear replacement plan, or basic product specifications for what they intend to install.

    > The franchise has offered to replace the shades and cover labor, which I appreciate. However, they have not been able to confirm which motor will be used or whether it will support the smart home features I currently rely on. I was told that the manufacturer will not disclose the motor model due to proprietary restrictions and that the motor has changed. They also cannot confirm that the new system will remain compatible with my existing Neo hub.

    > I have repeatedly asked for basic technical details so I can verify compatibility myself or understand whether a different hub would be required. No specific information has been provided. I also asked for the cost and capabilities of the proposed replacement hub, but that information has not been disclosed.

    > This is a showroom-based franchise representing a premium brand. Customers should not be asked to approve a warranty replacement without knowing what product they are receiving or whether it will maintain the functionality originally delivered. A “No Questions Asked Lifetime Warranty” should not involve weeks of delay, incomplete answers, or an expectation that the customer absorb additional cost and risk just to get back to what they already had. I am not asking for an upgrade. I am simply asking to retain the smart features that were part of my original purchase and are still part of Budget Blinds’ current marketing. Their handling of my claim has been opaque, unhelpful, and inconsistent with the warranty promise.

Updated on 03/03/2026: On second time blinds came in they were not what I ordered. This man seriously can’t measure. When he found out he was responsible for the second set he told me to deal with it. 5 blinds in my house. (Walmart quality is million times better quality.) I was told to stay away from Budget Blinds. Left multiple holes into walls because he can’t measure. It’s a scam.

Original: Absolutely the worst!! Measured wrong twice, and they don’t stand behind their work. Owner did the measurements not me, horrendous installation, cheep quality materials. He knows he messed up. Said, "I’ll come get the blind that’s giving you trouble." What about the others. All are mismatched. Do not go with company. He got violent. When we said this is not our fault. (Their ad states professional measurements and installation.) His ad states he’s been in business 23 years. It’s been 3. Check BBB. Not accredited. Tons of people with issues. Stay clear of this multiple homes in drywall and trim (as he was told not to put in trim.). Valance comes 2 1/2 inches over a recessed light. He said move the light. Wrong blinds. HE ORDERED Two times and poor quality materials.

We recently got blinds installed in our home in South Bay. After a month, the blinds got stuck. Maybe it is a user error. However, when I called them and asked for help. Zero concept of customer. Blaming us + sending a video to troubleshoot + nonsensical suggestions. So I asked them to come and help as it would have taken them a few minutes. They said service charge will apply. This is after one month. Do not buy from them.

My first experience with Budget Blinds 2 years ago was wonderful. I spent almost 10,000.00 on custom blinds for my home, so when I added a new addition to my home, I called them again. I was ready to purchase approx. $7000.00 in new blinds when I was so rudely treated by the Louisville East office. I questioned their contract that said I would agree to pay any tariffs imposed on the order above and beyond the sales price. I refused to sign that since there was no cap on the amount I could be billed. The Owner basically told me he would not sell to me. I tried to call another location to purchase the Shades and was told that I had to buy from Louisville East since I was in their territory. I would highly suggest not going to this Company. Terrible Customer service and poor communication.

At my initial consultation with the La Grange franchise, I had my windows measured, selected my fabric and ordered my shades and PAID IN FULL. I was told then that I would I would get my blinds in 4-6 weeks. The next day, I received a call to set up a second appointment for an "official" measurement. 7 weeks later, I had to call to find out why I hadn't received a delivery date. I called at 9 weeks and I was told that they would look into what may have happened. At 11 weeks, I received a call to set up an install date which was another week longer. It took 12 weeks to receive my two shades. The product seems to be well made and the install went well. I am giving the company 2 stars only because the product was good. I was VERY disappointed in time it took from beginning to end. If you have 3 months to wait for your blinds, you may be just fine using this company.

BREACH OF CONTRACT - BUDGET BLINDS. Hello. The 8 week contract that I signed with Budget Blinds salesman… turned into just over 1 year. On Feb 23rd I was told the installation would happen in roughly 6 weeks. Also asking for payment (see email). It had been approximately a couple of months in which I was able to get the salesman to come to my house (I’m approximately a 25 minute drive from the downtown office). I was mad when we met and was told by the Budget Blinds salesman… "IF YOU DON’T SETTLE DOWN; I’M GOING TO LEAVE YOUR PROPERTY." What a condescending remark after months into an 8 week contract. He got his commission and ran onto the next customer.

All of the installers were very respectful along with RG. No condescending remarks made to me. I’ve never allowed the condescending salesman back on my property. Please see my email of Feb 24th. I did asked for a Monetary value and was offered a 970.00 or 790.00 CREDIT on my next project. FYI: I was a 3rd time customer and was going to use a 4th time (see February 2024 email). I ended up bringing Ruffell & Brown in to provide our final project indoor “top up bottom down” blinds”. They met their contract terms. I was originally going to get Budget Blinds to do this project (see email Feb 2024). THE CONTRACT WAS BREACHED. Would you be willing to provide a monetary value around the 1,500.00 or more since the 8 week contract ended up being a year? I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

She called me the night before, and apparently didn't like the budget I was working with. I had originally wanted to put in curtains in all the windows of my new house. She explained how expensive that would be (the prices were outrageous, frankly). She said she'd get back to me to discuss other possibilities, but never did. Then she didn't show for our appointment. I was prepared to reconsider blinds and shutters, but wasn't given the chance. Someone else will get my business now.

My problem is with the corporate organization's disingenuous marketing technique of bombarding me every day with a budget blind NOTIFICATION to my phone. This contact is not an email or a text. It is directly from an IP Address and impossible to stop. I requested the local dealer I'm working with to stop these messages and he tried unsuccessfully with the corporate group. The blinds are nice and the price is good. The customer service is HORRIBLE. They don’t return calls even when you’re trying to purchase and much less if you have a problem. They don’t show up when they say they will. They don’t understand that people cancel things to be home for the visit and then they do not show up or call to let anyone know what’s going on. They say they will call back but then they do not. This is not a one time issue. It has been a recurring issue which apparently they are too ridiculous to resolve. They either just don’t comprehend decent values that when you say you’re coming or calling back you’re supposed to do it? Or the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. I’ve been trying to get a repair on the blinds and all I’m getting is the runaround. I’m very disappointed and it is very unfortunate. They could do so much better.

    Reviewed Feb. 7, 2025

This review is long overdue. I have owned these shutters for 7 months. I would not be surprised if Budget Blinds threaten me to remove this. Here is my story: My brother in South Texas had Budget Blinds, plantation shutters. He was pleased, and we liked them. We lived in the Dallas area, and used our local Budget Blinds. We chose a slightly different style, and we liked ours too. In my area, I was told sometimes they use a third-party vendor. Regardless, we liked them. The only negative was watching them assemble them on my driveway. However, I saw no marring or scars. Then we moved to Florida to a brand-new house, and called our local Budget Blinds.

In the consultation, I realized my windows were different from my last house. The windows in this house have wood frames, and my previous windows had sheetrock frames. I told the lady, “I need to be able to tilt my windows inwards for cleaning.” She said, “You won’t be able to do that.” I said, “Then you don’t have what I want.” She stammered some and stated, “Let me make a call.” Whatever was discussed, she had a solution. She threw around words such as “direct mount.” We also discussed hidden hinges. I did not recall having to make that decision in my previous house, and it did not make a difference to me, however, I chose hidden hinges, which I did not get.

I thought my issue was going to be my own fault, about not being able to fully open the blind/shutter to tilt the window inward for cleaning, because of having furniture or cabinets in the way. But that is not why I could not tilt my window inward. It is because of the thick light-blocking strips they installed on the sides.

When the second blind was installed, I halted the installation to address my concerns. He went outside to make a private phone call to Budget Blinds. I let the installation continue. I thought I could buy some screens that could be installed and removed from the outside, but I was wrong (too late now.) After each blind was installed, he twisted my window (bottom half) in such a way that he could “prove” that it could be done, and took a photo! It is NOT easy to do what he did, especially without scratching things.

Installer said some of my windows were out-of-square. Well, someone from Budget Blinds did measure my windows beforehand. Also, Budget Blinds did not make me aware that one of the shutters in the garage, could not be fully opened because it hits the garage door rail. They could have suggested a shutter that opens from the middle.

They say it is my fault, that I signed the contract. In the contract, each shutter is 16 detailed lines long, and did not mean much to me, a lay person to shutters.

I will never be able to fully clean the back of my windows. It bothers me enough that I often think of removing them but hesitant knowing I paid $7,635, and must purchase other blinds and drapes and deal with repairs. If/when I get new windows, these will go into the trash. They will probably go sooner. I do see mars on these, and a little warping here and there, where the slats look a little bowed. They say the material they use is according to your area (humidity?). I was told after installation, when I was discussing these things with the installer, they were not too pleased with this employee who did the consultation but afraid to fire her. She had a history of not writing things down.

The first time around they didn't work out they rippled really bad in the living room and kitchen so they got new blinds ordered and installed and the second set were still rippling in the living room and still didn't look good, so they were reordered for a third time but we decided to try a different material and they worked out just perfect. I love their business model of making things right and going out of their way to do it. I would highly recommend them if you are on the fence, do it, so totally worth it, you can't go wrong! On April 2, 2024, I met with Budget Blinds of Orangeburg, for a consultation. This business is in Goose Creek, SC. After taking measurements, the owner provided an estimate of $7,816.70 for the shades I chose. It was required that full payment be received for Budget Blinds to place the order, so regrettably, I wrote a check for the full amount rather than using a credit card. The average time for an order delivery was stated to be 8 to 10 weeks, which means shades should have been installed by July 1. It is now January 2025, 9 months after the shade purchase, and still no product.

Unfortunately, I have had to instigate each interaction with Budget Blinds, while never receiving a satisfactory response. After no update for over a month, in August of 2024, I issued a complaint with the SC Department of Consumer Affairs. Numerous attempts were made by the Department to elicit a response from them, but all calls and letters were ignored.

Due to the lack of response, the complaint was eventually closed and deemed “Unsatisfactory;” however, the complaint is now on record. I have currently had no communication with Budget Blinds since November 4, 2024, which prompted the same frustrating response offered each time, that they are working with the vendor to get the order completed/shipped. If the company is having vendor issues, I would expect to have been informed and given the option to choose to either cancel the order with a full refund or wait indefinitely to receive the order. This has not occurred. The inability of Budget Blinds of Orangeburg to complete orders in a reasonable timeframe is unacceptable and possibly fraudulent; to treat customers with so little regard is unethical.

When the string started breaking and fabric separating this year, we spend another thousand dollars for re-string and 'other charges'. Now after 6 months, the strings start breaking again. This store is very un-professionally managed and does not entertain legitimate repair needs. In short, they are good when you buy blinds, but does not seem to entertain after sale service in a reasonable manner. We are now looking at alternate repair shops around for re-stringing (that too 6 months after we paid a lot of money to budget blinds to string it). Very bad customer experience.
