This company is a total scam. They do not pay claims. Each rep will tell you something different and nothing is honored. In their contracts no where do they say they won't pay for freon, their ads say there is NO CAP on freon. But then, they use a small word buried at the end of the contract to deny it. They make you get your own techs because they say they don't have one available. They make that tech jump through all kinds of hoops, make you pay with the promise of reimbursement. Then two months later, after many phone calls and emails they will tell you the claim is denied. They are a horrible company to deal with. Do not give them your money.

I had nothing but poor service, unqualified repairmen, and an attitude from them when I complained that they didn’t care. Repairmen they contacted were always from out of town and it was like pulling teeth to get a quick appointment. Twice, I not only paid the $75 service fee, but the repairmen couldn’t fix the problem. One was a dishwasher and one was a garbage disposal. They sent money to replace the dishwasher, but the amount they sent would only buy the bottom line of dishwasher, not comparable to the one we had, and didn’t cover the cost of hiring a plumber to install it.

The garbage disposal guy made 3 appointments, but never showed up. Instead, he had me take pictures of it so he could see the model number. He then informed me that my disposal was discontinued and would have to be replaced. Again, they replaced it, after deducting the $75 service fee, and again, it cost me additional money to have someone install it. My oven broke. They sent a man to “fix” it. While fixing it, he broke the hinge on the door and said he would order me a new door. Without being able to close the door, the oven wouldn’t work so we had to duct tape it closed to use it. A week later it was broken again, doing the same thing that was supposed to be repaired. I called numerous times to find out about the door and the repair to no avail.

Finally, they sent a second repairman to fix the oven but refused to fix the door because, per contract, the door wasn’t covered. But the door wasn’t broken until your man broke it! They didn’t care and refused to fix it. So I cancelled my service with them. No apology. No “sorry to see you go”. No nothing. A month later they drafted my account again for the monthly payment, and after numerous requests, refuse to refund it. I finally got my bank to reverse the charge claiming fraud. So in the 3 years we had our home warranty with them, we had 3 claims, none of which were “repaired”. We paid service fees on all 3, yet had to pay additional monies to have third-party installers install the bottom-of-the-line replacements they paid for on 2 of the claims, and are left with an oven that doesn’t work, with a broken door their repairmen broke but refuse to fix, on the third.

My home warranty company AHW recommended Leslie ** with Dominion Comfort Solutions LLC to inspect my heat pump. Mr. ** ignited fear and questioned my faith. He told me that there was an electrical fire in my crawl space which caused my heat pump to stop working. I am in no way knowledgeable of heat pumps and electrical fires therefore I believed him and trusted that my home warranty company Amazon Home Warranty certifies that the companies they send are legitimate.

It appears Dominion is not licensed to work in the state of Virginia. He played on my emotions instilling fear that my home was possibly going to catch fire. He caused damage to my unit forcing me to now have to replace my unit. He called and continued to send text messages asking for money to give to him so that he could get the supplies needed to replace my unit to prevent my pipes from also bursting due to the cold weather. He wanted me to give him my settlement money from my car accident to get my heat pump. Please do not allow him to come to your home and do this to you!!! RUN. And if you are a client of AHW please do not allow this happen to you. They provided no assistance and the money you pay them monthly you can set aside in a savings account to assist you in the event of an emergency.

If I could leave 0 stars I would've because this company does not deserve 1 star. The worst possible warranty company.

    1. It does not cover anything. If you think that they would replace your HVAC or any appliance if parts are not available, you are WRONG. In their contract it says that they would give you money equal to the parts and labor to repair and you will not be able to get a new appliance for maybe $400 you will get.

    2. They will make you find your own plumber or electrician because they cannot locate the technicians. Or if technician comes to your house to diagnose, he will most likely would not come again because this company does not pay the subs for their work. I was told by Contractor that I have to pay myself because they were not paid for 20 jobs that they finished for this company.

    3. Usually, you will be without your dishwasher or washer or leaking plumbing for several months because of the issues above.

    4. It was the most expensive Warranty company I ever had -$1200/year with $75 deductible and it is BY FAR the worst one. I signed 3-year contract and it was a bad mistake. First, I thought that it is COVID. But COVID has nothing to do with it....It is the company.

I can go forever talking about the issues. By the way their sales rep on the phone told me that they do not have any limits for coverage like some companies do for appliances - it is because they would not replace any! Do yourself a favor - NEVER use this company. It should go out of business! Companies like this create a bad name for capitalism.

I purchased a Home in October. I was looking for Peace of mind and since I bought a Home and not sure of the condition or durability of the existing appliances I Bought a AHW Policy Oct 30th, 2022. On Sunday Dec 4th, my Microwave broke so I called them and submitted a claim. They called me the next day to tell me that they cancelled my Appt because they determined that my Microwave broke due to a pre-existing condition. (How would they know that, if they never came to assess it).

I was so upset that they already started using bottom of the barrel Warranty Company tactics to not take care of the repair. I cancelled my policy immediately after I spoke they refused to send a Tech to review or Repair the Microwave. I should've researched further to realize that I was not dealing with an honest company. When I called the number listed on the Contract, the number was no longer in service. That was the 1st sign. They kept the inflated monthly fee and denied the claim. They should be checked by the appropriate governing agencies.

I had an AC breakdown. The technician came and said it was the blower motor and gave me the impression the AHW was going to replace it. He never gave me a price estimate. He just went ahead and replaced it. Then after the fact, he told me that AHW was not going to cover it and it would be $300. But before that, he told me that the coils needed cleaning so I said go ahead. Then, after he did the work for which I had to pay everything out of pocket, he did something to the unit so that the thermostat doesn't work. He tried but could not fix it. He said AHW would send someone else. Guess what? They refused to fix it. Please, do not use this warranty program. I predict they will be going out of business soon.

For unknown reasons, I got convinced by the Amazon Home Warranty salesman who convinced me to buy 3 years of home appliance warranty coverage for the fee of $1300. When I started having problem with any of my home appliance then I found out I have lost almost all my money and I was better off without this warranty.

After filing claim and payment of $60 of service charge, the technicians they kept sending for repair were hardly had any knowledge of appliance. They were only interested in getting the service charge, telling me something which was hard to believe, trying to pay them some advance, will not respond after they are gone and sometimes scary kind of people. Not sure where AHW finds them. After service call I had to call AHW again and after few days they may assign another tech. Then they will try to tell me the problem and part is not covered under warranty. One of their manager who called herself problem resolution manager advised me not to call till appliance totally stops working. I can go on and on. In short please dont waste your money with AHW.

They sound like a traditional home warranty company, and present themselves as such, but they don't operate like one. They conveniently say that everything is a "pre-existing condition" and will claim "well the appliance takes time to malfunction or breakdown"... yes, that's true of every mechanical device; we pay a service warranty to cover things when they do actually fail. Their customer service is rude, and they are adamant about not issuing refunds. I will be contacting my State's Attorney General and will be disputing the charges with my credit card company. These people are deceptive, dishonest, and from looking at the reviews here on Consumer Affairs, a complete and total sham. Shame on them!

First experience had entered a claim and it took over three weeks and many calls before a tech came out and they did not address the problem I had with my air conditioner. It took another two weeks before a tech came out. He knew what he was doing and solved the problem. The last fiasco was we had a toilet that had a loose foundation, after three weeks a plumber came out and I watched him do the repair, he told me that it would be fine and I said that I doubted it. He left and three months later we had the same problem. I called AHW and explained the problem and was assigned a number, two weeks later I called again and was refused repair, due to I exceeded the 250.00 dollar cap. No Service provider in our area so we were told to hire our own and they would reimburse us the fee for coming out then we would have to get preapproval for any repairs. Had a technician come out on the 12th to diagnose the issue. It is a common problem with this unit that the coils spring leaks. Took pictures and a video clip of the coil and the leak detector. Sent to the company. Technician said the coil was in great shape, no corrosion or rust. Finally on the 27th of September I had to call back and was told that because of corrosion and rust that they were denying my claim. This seems to be a pattern with them. Their so called experts see corrosion and rust on the coil. That is ridiculous. I am contacting a lawyer for repayment of costs for repair and service fees.

My experience: We called because our pool motor went out. We filed a claim. AHW was suppose to send a listed contractor in their list to our home. AHW told us they were having no luck finding a pool company to respond. Aqua Plus LLC showed up and announced that AmazonHW called them. We let the young man look at our pool and he said he would file for a new motor. To get our pool running, he replaced the capacitor, which worked.. It was at this time I was informed AHW would only pay $500 on this or any claim. The quote to fix the pool with the new motor was $1295.10! I paid the trip fee to Aqua Plus, which I forgot was suppose to be free for the first claim per my contract (Raven in retention set that up). When I asked Amazon to reimburse me once processed, they said no. I could have free trip charge should I file another claim!!! Hopefully I would never file another claim. That was a cheesy answer.

We also found out that Aqua Plus out of Whitehouse TX was not a contractor for AHW!!!! So why did they show up? So now Aqua Plus wants $125 fee and $54 for the capacitor. I found out I could buy the Capacitor from a pool dealer local for $34. Well I told the contractor To keep the check I already gave them for $60 trip charge and we would pay the $54 charge for the capacitor. I suggested they go back to AHW for the the additional $65. They threatened to sue us if AHW doesn't reimburse the $65. We never called Aqua Plus to come out to begin with! They should not have come to our house. Robin at Aqua Plus had no compassion for the situation and got very aggressive and rude and repeatedly threatened to sue us. I tried to reason with her but was unsuccessful.

I cancelled the remainder of the policy and was charged 10% of my policy cost! I read, since, on the internet that charge should have been $30 to cancel. BEWARE that AHW only pays $500 per claim. There are other companies out there that pay $3,000 to $6,000 cap per claim or if you pay a hefty premium no cap. Do your research!!! Good Luck.

I can say, without any reservation, out of every company I've dealt with in my lifetime, I've had the worst experience with AHW. CS reps are unresponsive, give conflicting information, don't call back when promised but will call with unnecessary information without reading customer notes. For example, I was told on 8/5 by Julie that I would get a call from a supervisor - no supervisor ever called. I was called on 8/8 by Louisa to ask when I would like to set up a tech visit; the tech had already been and gone by that point. I was called on 8/9 by Nishad to tell me that my claim was not covered, but he was looking at the wrong claim - it was from last year. He told me after he put me on a long hold. Throughout this time, my AC is broken and my house is 90F - AHW representatives waste days and obviously not progressing my claim. Finally, after weeks of back and forth, I am told that my claim is not covered because the compressor was subject to 'short to ground'.

The HVAC company that came out to try and fix the unit told me that electrical components often fail this way which is why, I presume, AHW added it to the contract so that they don't have to pay anything. In short, AWH have made me spend additional days in a 90F house while they miscommunicate and mishandle the information, only to be told that they have excluded a common fault in the contract. After a month of back and forth, I am left with a $6000 replacement cost that AHW have managed to wriggle out of. Absolutely, atrocious - PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY!

Before investing in a home warranty plan, be absolutely certain of what you are getting, read the fine print, and know what is involved when needing to file a claim. We had an "oh by the way' moment during the closing of our new home (March 2022) when we were informed that a home warranty plan was included. We never asked for one, nor was it first discussed with us. But it would cover all existing appliances and central heating system. Having never purchased a home warranty plan before, we had no clue what it was nor what to expect. The company in question here is AHWP Warranty.

The appliances and central heating were all original, with exception of the refrigerator. The first issue we had with AHWP was when we called an appliance repair company to come and look at the range cooktop. The front two burners would not ignite. The repair company told us that parts were hard to get. So, we called AHWP to discuss this with them. They us told that the warranty would not cover the appliance because the warranty does not take effect until 30 days after closing. Then AWHP had the hutzpah of accusing us of fraud in submitting a claim before the 30-day period. Angry is a mild word for how we felt.

Now how about this one. Our central heating system started making horrible noises, so I called in a HVAC company to access the problem. They gave me a quote and I submitted it to AHWP. AHWP said that because we did not follow proper procedures in filing a claim, the warranty would not cover repairs. I went totally ballistic over the phone. After several go-arounds, AHWP asked me to send them photos of the tag on the system as well as when the system was last serviced. Now, keep in mind we just purchased this home in March of this year, 2022. AHWP reached to the HVAC service repair company, but they (HVAC) refused to work directly with them. And, because the system was last serviced in 2019 (by the previous homeowner), AHWP would not cover the system repair under the warranty.

When I explained to them that we just purchased this home, I was told that a correction would be made in our file, but even with the correction noted the warranty still would not cover the heating system repair. Here's how stupidly frustrating this company is. We first needed to call AHWP to file a claim, then they call a service provider in our area, the service provider would then call us to schedule a service call, then the service provider would contact AHWP with a repair quote, then AHWP would approve and decline the repair, if they approved the claim, they would authorize the company to repair the appliance. But wait, let's make things even more frustrating when the service provider(s) refuse to work directly with warranty companies. We would have to get the work done, pay the service company, then submit the invoice to AHWP for reimbursement. This was the case with three different appliance repair companies. They refuse to work directly with home warranty companies.

Now the dominos start falling, appliance wise. Next to go was the refrigerator, which by the way was manufactured in 2017. Thank god it's still under warranty with LG. The freezer quit on us, and thus we had to throw everything away. Next, the refrigerator section started failing. Now did we call AHWP to submit a claim? Yes we did. But after 3 days of not hearing from them, we decided to call in a service provider and eat the cost - pun intended. Please, please, please, whatever you do be certain of what you are getting into if you decide to purchase a home warranty plan. And DO NOT purchase one through AHWP. I called AHWP to demand a full refund, of the contract, in the amount of $500, but was told that a refund was not possible since it was paid in escrow. We will be taking this up with our realtor and escrow agent.

My air conditioning system stopped working last May and it took until July to get it repaired with me calling them almost every day. My washer had an issue, I called for service, after 3 days they said they could not get anyone in my area to service the washer. They said I should get it repaired myself and they would reimburse me the cost of the repair. They said as long as the repair was under $160 I did not need prior authorization, if it was more than that I should have the repairman call for authorization.

We could not find anyone to do such a small job so my husband watched some YouTube videos and figured out what was wrong. He went to an appliance shop, purchased the part and fixed it himself! I submitted the receipt and the form to AHW as I was told to do and after a week I got a call from a woman who said they would not reimburse me me because I did not use a licensed contractor for the repair. That was never mentioned when I spoke with them. I had enough and told them I wanted to cancel my contract today. RUN!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I am convinced that their business model is to sign up as many suckers as possible, provide substandard to no service, and then retain as much as possible after cancellation. I have managed contracts for the last ten years, but am not a J.D. so I would be interested in any insight from the contract law community.

At the end of 2020, I signed up for two Amazon Home Warranty policies for homes that I own. The terms were three years of coverage at $1575 for each policy. After they went zero for four in covering home issues I submitted, I decided to cancel both policies. In each case, it took me over four months to get a cancellation return check. You will get passed around, hung up on, empty promised things with this company if you have an issue you need to address with them. They want you to give up so be prepared for a struggle. What was clearly telling was the way they calculated the funds to be returned.

Amazon Home Warranty’s contract reads: If We cancel this Contract (except for fraud) or if You cancel this contract after the first 30 days of the Contract Term, then You shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid Contract fee for the unexpired term, less a cancellation fee of the lesser of $30 or 10% of the Contract fee (unless otherwise required by state law), and any actual service costs incurred by Us.

Let’s discuss first the Cancellation Fee. The language says, “lesser of $30 or 10% of the Contract fee.” They automatically applied the 10%, favorable to Amazon Home Warranty, and withheld $157.50 for each policy and then promptly denied my protest that this was not in accordance with their own contract language. In what world is $157.50 less than $30? I saw this as the most egregious violation. A few of the representatives tried to claim that it was really three one-year policies so $90 should have been withheld, but in practice that is not even how they calculated the amount nor how the policy is annotated on my contract.

Second, “pro rata refund of the paid Contract fee for the unexpired term” to me means the contract fee divided by the number of contract months unless otherwise specified, so $1575 divided by 36 for a monthly “pro rata” of $43.75. In application, Amazon Home Warranty charged $58 (what they charge for one month’s coverage) per month I had the contract instead of the “pro rata” amount of $43.75. This was almost an additional $15 per month! I asked why they wouldn’t look at the number of months left on the contract and apply that $58 to that remainder instead then. They did not want to discuss.

Also noteworthy, they consider the months of contract used as each month touched by the contract not 30-day periods. So, for example, my contract started on January 24th and was cancelled August 18th. This is 6.7 30-day periods, but they charged a full month for both January and August for a total of eight months of coverage. They applied this same logic to both of my policies. Had this practice been clearly annotated in the contract I would have let it go, but I do not see this as common practice outside of specific language defining such. I see this company as prime for a class-action lawsuit and would like to be part of any litigation against the types of practices I have outlined above.

Over the weekend, I was advised by the supervisor in NYC I could call another service provider, that she would email an authorization form to follow. I did that and paid out of pocket..$582. It was the control board. I was denied coverage because some Authorization office person said I had a pre-existing condition. How does that happen? Do they think I planned to be cold?

I tried calling the supervisor who said she gave me her direct number.. It went to Vegas and to a person with a thick accent, and could not understand. I called several times, put my case into mediation and copied the supervisor. Not one return email or phone call. I notified our Ohio Attorney General's office. They got a response from Denny **, Consumer Relations. He refunded the contract money as a courtesy (he said) and stated many people put in claims for issues that have already occurred in order to have coverage. My AC worked great. My heat worked until November 22. I even offered to send the cracked control board. My advice is to stay away from these people. Also, if you ever need help your attorney general is the go to. That's where the problems began, trying to understand the person(s) on the other end is impossible.

I should have known that they were shady when I searched for any social media presence and found none. I submitted a claim for a repair and when no vendors in my area responded to the claim, I reached out to AHW. At that time they stated I should reach out to a vendor on my own and if I followed the protocol, I would be reimbursed for the repair. I followed the directions and the vendor did too - they had to reach out to AHW directly as required for approval for the repair. I heard back from AHW with a formal approval, the vendor made the repair and I paid out of pocket.

Again I followed the protocol to get reimbursed. Over the next few weeks I would call and/or email to ask the status of my reimbursement and I heard all the excuses from "the check is in the mail" to "we are currently processing your reimbursement" to "you should receive the check in 3 weeks". It's now been months since I paid out of pocket for the repair without being reimbursed. This is unacceptable especially given the fact that I followed every single thing they asked me to in order to be reimbursed. I thought I was getting a great deal when I agreed to buy 3 years of service. I asked the salesperson about penalties for canceling early if it didn't work out. They said absolutely nothing. He said nothing. We just prorate the difference for the time you do not use it and send a check. I do take part of the blame for believing the salesman and not reading the contract that I only had 72 hours to review in a timely manner, but the fact they wanted to charge me for using their service one time, is a poor business decision. This policy just rips customers off!

After my 3 denials, I decided to ask for my prorated amount left until July of 2023. They said I actually would owe them money. Here is how they rip you off. They prorate what you paid as credit, then they take off a 10% penalty for cancellation, and the kicker, they go back to the 1 claim that I paid the deductible on, and charged me for fixing that at full price. When they were done, I owed them. Needless to say, I decided they were making me keep it. Hopefully, I will get my money back somehow. I will not be renewing them. I put in a claim 7 days ago for my stove and cook top not working. They assigned me a contractor who didn’t call me so I called them to set up an appointment. They told me they would call the following day with a date and time. They didn’t so I called them again the following day. They told me they would come between 11 and 1 the following day (Saturday) and they didn’t show up. I tried to call them and they wouldn’t answer the phone and the voicemail was to full to leave a message.

Because Amazon Home Warranty isn’t open on the weekend I had to wait until Monday morning to call and request a new contractor. So now I’ve been without a stove and cook top for 6 days. The customer service rep said they could assign someone new but it would take 24 to 48 hours. It’s now been 54 hours and I still haven’t been assigned a new contractor to fix my stove and cook top. When you try to ask to speak with a supervisor, the outsourced customer service rep only apologizes and says they don’t have the ability to transfer calls or bring a supervisor on the line. When I ask for a supervisor contact they won’t provide.

Very little is actually covered - read the fine print - I mean VERY LITTLE. What is covered has a limit of $500.00 So if your Central unit goes out guess what!!! Yep it's on you. Plus they sucker you in for that 3 year deal at a steal, it's no wonder it's so cheap - it doesn't do ANYTHING!!! When you call expect to be on hold for extended periods of time. RUN - RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!!! Leaking water heater - not covered, Leaking coil on a 3 year old central unit - part covered by manufacturer, them nope. "We won't cover labor because the part is rusty" - DUH - it's been leaking Freon you idiots!!! Yes, they make you send pictures so they can tell you on, "We don't cover that." Worst company EVER!!!!

I also paid $60.00 service fee for repairs on the previous claim. For approximately 6 months of coverage, they are keeping approximately $1500 since I paid them in advance. Beware of this company. The salesman was very courteous and sold me on the company. But after I contracted with them, they are horrible when it comes to service and refunds.

On 9/8/2021 we requested a service call from Amazon Home Warranty as our air conditioning unit stopped working. I was told the process for reimbursement was to get our own tech, have the technician diagnose the issue, call AHW with the diagnosis and they would give that tech approval to begin repairs “WITHIN THE HOUR”. After the technician called in the a/c diagnosis, AHW told him we needed to send pictures of unit fan and info about it and they would call back. I sent in the pics and all information requested and it is now 9/22/2021 and after numerous phone calls they have not given approval to repair the only unit in the house in Central Florida.

The a/c tech called me to let me know that AHW called him requesting pics of the new motor and asked him prices of every piece of material being used. They then haggled with him to lower his quote. Still no approval for repair to be done. This technician has dealt with them before and said if the repair is a high ticket item AHW will keep finding ways to delay it until you repair it without their approval so they don’t have to pay. MEANWHILE, the sales department has been texting and calling to get us to renew in October when our contract is up. AFTER TELLING THEM “NO” MORE THAN ONCE, THEY CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD ANYWAY (they kept the information from the card we used when we first signed up)!

When my HVAC unit went out I sent them documentation from a professional HVAC inspection service but they still would not honor the claim. When I called they had me send it again and continued to ignore the claim. They are among the worst companies I have ever done business with. Also, this company is extremely hard to deal with. I have nothing against Spanish speaking people but it helps when you are offering customer service if both parties speak the same language and can communicate. I had the worst experience doing business with AHW. They are out there to scam out period. Bought their best policy covering everything in the month of June 2021, the coverage started Aug 2021. I filed my first claim and that's where the horrible experience started. They say 24/7 availability, but that's not true. I filed claim in Friday and I was told someone will get in touch 24-72 hours. They got back to me on following Wednesday. Finally they assigned technician who came in on Friday a week after the claim and diagnosed that a part in AC needs to be replaced. It took two weeks for them to get that info from their technician. Every time I called AHW they will tell same thing 24-72 from that day.

Finally after three weeks they told me that the part is not covered. Their own technician said it would be replaced and they said it won't be. Then when told them what technician told me they said, "We decide what is covered and what is not." It didn't ended there they try to sell me the AC unit, that's when I knew it's a scam, no matter what they would denied the claim and try to make a sale for themselves. It wasn't even one month that my coverage has started and they kept 60% of my money that paid them for policy. Their people on phone were rude and said why did file the claim. I am not sure how I was suppose to know how they operate without filing a claim. I would not recommend such a company even to foe. Stay away from AHW guys.

But when I placed my first claim on Feb 7th for my furnace to be serviced and didn't get a reply until Feb 23rd I knew it wasn't so. I was told there was no one working in my location and I would have to find someone on my own. Just happened it was early Spring and I didn't need the heat, but I still need service. So now my air conditioner is blowing not so cold air. I put in a second claim on June 28th and got a response on the 30th. The company was, Bill Salter Heating and Cooling, I never received a call. So I called them on 7/1, 7/2 and 7/6, never got a call back.

I called AHW and was told a second time, I would have to find someone on my own. That is not what I signed up for! I chose AHW so I would NOT have to find someone on my own. I pay monthly fees and it doesn't make any sense to me paying for a service and get nothing in return. If this is the best they can do, then they should get out of the home warranty business. I was told AHW would continue to TRY to find someone in the area, but if I find someone on my own to let you them know. With such a big company they only had ONE contractor to service what they are suppose to cover with my plan: That is **, this was a waste of my time and money.

My contract is up 8/29 and there WILL NOT be a renewal. I feel this really don't matter to this company and instead of trying to get to space, they should be trying to help hard working people who make monthly payment for services that is suppose to covered. I also received an email which stated, "We sincerely apologize for the delay in service. Regrettably, we have exhausted the search for a licensed technician within our vendor network in your area," "1" whatever! Do NOT sign up with this company they offer nothing and they are a rip off!

Their agreement states that a service technician would be contacted within 48 hours.

I waited until the 3rd day and began trying to get a status. I was not able to reach anyone about the claim until Monday 8/2 and had to select the option for assistance with new claims. The person that assisted me said that they could not find anyone in my area that would work with them and asked me to have the repair done and then bill them. I did not trust that they would reimburse us so I cancelled the service. My only prior experience with a home warranty company was American Home Shield over 15 years ago. We only had one claim and our experience with the Tech and Customer Service was horrible! They finally agreed to give us a settlement on the claim rather than make the repair. Which they did pay. However, we had no faith in their company to call them on our next claim so we decided to cancel all three policies.

The first policy that we had filed the claim against they refused to return any of the balance of the policy. They said we owed them money, plus there was a $35 cancellation fee, plus there was a pro-rated fee we owed??? We only had the services for 2 months. Okay what about the other two policies with no claims against them? Surely, we could get a refund of our $798. Again, pro-rated amount of $408 was the total amount to be refunded us. Ok, we would like to escalate to the next level to dispute all of these charges and undiscussed terms and conditions. We were already speaking to the highest level to escalate up to. Bottom line do yourself a favor a avoid doing any type of business with this company. Hopefully, there will be a class action suit against them one day!!! So we can all get our money back!!!!

I have written numerous times and am at my wit's end. I pre-paid for a three-year term after dealing with my salesperson Fred **. I interviewed your company and American Home Shield and picked your company based on the information I was provided. My account number is #**. I have had a great experience with Fidelity National Home Warranty for my primary CA residence, but they don't cover Florida or I would have signed with them for this vacation home. In any case I explained that we were purchasing a condo and wanted to be sure that we would have full coverage. I was told that as long as we started the warranty and waited 30 days that we would be fine. I also confirmed that similar to Fidelity we could group unlimited claims within a category and I was told by Fred ** that this was correct.

We closed escrow and after a month came up with a list of items that were covered according to your term and conditions. I placed the service calls under plumbing and electrical and received a call that I placed too many claims too soon and they would not be covered. I write the company and said that I wanted to cancel and I received a call from a supervisor named Angel and he said he was calling on behalf of a VP from Amazon and that there was no problem and the service calls would be placed. The plumbing contractor (Mark Stirrup Plumbing) came out on July 12 and the electrical came out on July 13.

There was an issue when the electrical contractor came out as they asked for (2) $60 service call fees and I called your 800 number and was told a supervisor would need to call me back and left numerous messages and emails for Angel who has ghosted me and has not returned any call or email. The ceiling fan was from the electrical was approved and they have ordered a fan and I am waiting for an installation date. The light in the master closet does not work and it was diagnosed as needing a new fixture. I requested cash in lieu on this portion and have not heard back on the status almost three weeks later.

The plumbing was more complicated. Mark Stirrup was new to your system and claimed that he was placed on long holds numerous times because he felt the need to discuss his report. Finally, this past Monday he turned in his report and a supervisor called me on Tuesday and confirmed the report was in. I called today to check on the status and was told that the toilet needing to be replaced because the plumber stated it was generic and he couldn't determine the parts that were required to fix it and a new toilet was necessary, but that the claim was rejected or declined stating it was a pre-condition. Again I was told that as long as I waited 30 days there were no pre-conditions.

I am not going to play the pre-condition game for every claim in the future. If you want to inspect the entire home so that all future claims are fine, that's ok with me. I expect the toilet to be covered and ALL future claims covered under the terms and conditions and not trying to deny claims based on this bogus catchall. The second claim for plumbing is more complicated. The bath tub mechanism to allow the tub to fill with water does not work and the plumber stated that it was old and could not be replaced and the entire tub would need to be replaced. After leaving the property he thought about it and claimed that he could fix it by going through the common wall in the hallway. I checked with the association and they will not allow any access through ANY common walls. However, authorizations turned it down claiming it too was a pre-existing condition. We both know there is no way of knowing whether something is pre-existing.

So here is the bottom line. Either cover these claims and quit playing games or refund my full $1,350 paid for the three-year plan AND the service calls I paid ($60 x 3 = $180) or refund my full $1,350 and cover the ceiling fan and refund the $60 plumbing service fee. I am done wasting my time trying to have your company operate in a professional manner. It is amazing that Fidelity National does not and has not played this game over 14 years.

I called AHW to try and cancel and was left on hold for A WHOPPING 40 MINUTES!!! I called back and was able to reach someone. I thought things were going to get better. I was wrong. The person I talked to said that my attempt to file a claim nullified my prior attempt to cancel. If they had cancelled the plan as I requested, I wouldn't have been able to file a claim (in error). The representative was nasty, unruly, and made no attempt to treat me like a customer. This is a terrible company that engages in unjust enrichment. In other words, they seek to get ahead at the expense of the customer. It was companies like this that led to the establishment of ERISA.

On Saturday, June 12, 2021, our air conditioning stopped working. We have paid for a home warranty plan with Amazon Home Warranty. My husband contacted the company through their phone number listed and spoke with a representative, who assisted him in opening a claim that same day. He was told that we would be contacted within 48 hours. Our contract with the company states the following under Section III Requesting Service, item B: "Upon request for service under normal circumstances, We will contact a Service Contractor within forty-eight (48) after You request service..." Our contract only says 48, not hours or business hours. Over the phone, he was told 48 hours.

On June 14, 48 hours after we requested service, my husband called back because we had not been contacted. The representative then told him it was "business hours". On June 16, 96 hours/3 business days after requesting service, my husband called back because we had not been contacted and had been without AC for 5 days with temperatures in the upper 90s. The representative then told him that they hadn't been able to find a contractor and told him they were authorizing us to find our own AC contractor and submit an invoice receipt by email for reimbursement. A licensed technician from Fahnestock HVAC Heating & Air came to our home and serviced our AC on June 17. He determined the issue was a failed capacitor. The technician ran tests of our unit, and determined it was in great condition.

My husband called AHW for them to speak to the AC technician for him to explain the issue and resolution, but was placed on hold by the company for 35 minutes. The technician was unable to wait any longer due to other service calls and had to leave. He wrote the invoice for the replaced capacitor and the labor cost, which came to $280, which my husband paid. My husband emailed the invoice receipt paid to authorizations@amazonhomewarranty.com on the morning of June 17 right after the service call was completed.

On June 23, 4 business days after providing the receipt, we had not received any response from AHW, so my husband called again. He was told verbally that they had denied our claim because it was caused by inadequate maintenance of our unit. My husband told them there was no documentation supporting this denial, as capacitors frequently fail and must be replaced and our unit was now running fine. He requested to speak to a manager about disputing our denial, and was told a manager would call him within 72 hours.

Today, June 30, a full week after requesting a call from a manager, my husband called again, and was told it was "72 business hours", which meant if there are 8 business hours in a day and 5 days in a week, it has only been 40 "business hours". This company is in breach of our contract, which clearly states that we will be contacted within 48 (hours) of requesting service. They did not meet the terms of our contract. And they have fraudulently invented a reason why they have denied our authorized service, and continue to deny our request to speak with management to dispute their breach of contract and denial of payment. This is clearly fraudulent business practice and this company is guilty of breach of contract and falsely advertising their service, misleading consumers, and should be avoided at all costs.

I am writing this review after cancelling my service few minutes ago. I don't think this company does the honest business. I bought home warranty service on May 18th, normally the the service starts after one month of date you bought the service so my service start date was June 18th. I submitted two claims on June 21st - one related to outdoor spigot leak and the other was for sprinkler system valve leak. Both of these claims were denied by AHWS saying that these are pre-existing conditions and not covered by the policy, which doesn't make sense to me because I had opened the sprinkler system same day and it started leaking, also they started my policy on June 18th whereas I started paying them from May 18th, so they waited one month to start the policy to get all the pre-existing issues off their plate then why denying the service for the issue which came after the one month waiting period.

Anyway I asked them that I am not happy with this so please cancel my service and issue me prorated refund. They denied that also. Based on my experience, here are some of the points I think people should know before continuing with them:

    1) They are in the market to get money from consumers but not ready to offer services.
    2) They will offer huge discounts to get you onboard, don't fall for it.
    3) They use Amazon's name to attract consumers but in reality they have nothing to do with THE AMAZON.
    4) Never buy 6 month policy, you will NOT get your money back if you want to cancel.

    5) Once you open a claim, they take 3 days to just call you, so good luck if you have their warranty and your indoor plumbing started leaking, fyi (my claim opening date was 06/21 and I got call on 06/25 saying they can't service).

Let the amount of 1-star reviews here inform your decision! DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go with this company. I live in Washington, DC and own many properties and have a few Home Warranties and made the mistake of trying AHW on my most recent property and they have been nothing but a nightmare. Thankfully I did not need to utilize them for a while into my contract. However, as it usually does, life happens and I needed to use my Home Warranty on three different occasions and it's been an absolute nightmare dealing with them.

Here is a list of the issues I’ve had, and currently and working through with them:
    - Impossible to reach unless you are making a payment or filing an initial claim.
    - They send technicians that require you pay them first and then work with AHW to get reimbursement (IF AHW even decides to).
    - On two occasions they denied my claim on the basis that “they don’t cover” that problem even though it's not listed in your contact of coverage with them.
    - You must email to speak with a manager, and it takes them up to 2-weeks to actually get back with you.
    - They have sent a company that came, took the service charge and then said they can’t do the job.

This company has made an already stressful situation of appliances breaking even more stressful and I regret the day I decided to give them a try. Be wiser than I was.

He then diagnosed the problem and said he would submit it to Amazon Home Warranty. Come Monday I had not heard back from either so I called Amazon, they said the claim was denied due to a pre-existing condition. They asked for an invoice from service I had previously done from 3 months prior to show it was not pre-existing but a new issue. Everyday I called to get an update and there was always something else they needed. All provided.

Final straw, I called after 2 weeks and they said the tech had not provided them with the make/model of the AC unit. I knew was false since the first rep I spoke with asked if this involved my Goodman unit. Not to mention the make/model was on the invoice I sent them. I canceled the contract immediately after only having them for 2 months. This was my first claim and for them to procrastinate, I was done. I signed up with Amazon in October, even though I'm not a huge proponent of home warranty companies. But because many of my appliance and heating and cooling systems are now old, I thought I should. I paid for a 3-year contract with Amazon. The first appliance I had that broke was a microwave. They would not cover the cost to replace. Yesterday, I woke up to 2 heating unit, one upstairs and one downstairs, that weren't functioning. I called my own A/C-Heating company, as they said, "Give us 3 days and we'll get back to you." Time is of the essence, this is heat.

My tech said the system is 30-years old and must be replaced. He listed 18 things that would need to be repaired in order to salvage the unit. He spoke with the authorization agent, and it sounded like a replacement was off the table. Go figure, right? However, he did say that they would most likely pay the most possible to settle this claim, $2500. I thought, well, that's crappy. A new unit will cost $11,500. But as least I can put that toward a new unit.

Today I called Amazon to see what was going on with claim. I was told they will not pay anything, as it is a maintenance issue. In shock, I replied, "Maintenance on a 30 year old heating unit?" They are holding firm, although when I spoke to the lovely Marcia, a resolution manager. She said as a courtesy, they would settle this claim by offering me $400. This is the second claim in 3 months that they have refused to pay for replacements. And only yesterday did I realize that they would NEVER pay for replacement, if replacement were to be over $2500. That is their MAX payout. I find the offer of $400 to be utterly insulting and egregious. I would NOT recommend using this home warranty company, in fact run from them as though your hair is on fire. My dishwasher broke, I paid the inspection fee and Amazon said the repair was too expensive and they would not cover a new unit either and per the contract they are not required to cover anything even though it's explicitly covered in an earlier section. This is a cheat company and now I know why the BBB revoked their accreditation. They offered me $200 cash to go away. Wouldn't even tell me how they got that number. Per Amazon "Take it or leave it. You don't have to take it but we won't do anything more". I would've preferred the guy just curse me out and hang up me. That's how bad this service is. No recourse of action either because their mediation allows me to get a second opinion (at my cost) but they do not have to honor it.

The last time Amazon did not send out a technician for my heater even though it was 27 degrees outside and my Hester was malfunctioning. They also did not tell me I need to pay the technician that came to the house, last company the warranty company dented my account when technician said work was complete.

They started to make excuses why they won't provide service. I never had this issue with my previous warranty company (AHS). The only reason I switched was because of the price increase every year. I'm thinking to go back. Why would I pay to a service that doesn't exist.

I contacted Amazon Home Warranty (AHW) because my furnace stopped working. They sent out Houston Air Comfort the same day. The tech said my furnace was 20 years old and hadn't been maintained. He then advised me his manager would be contacting me about my options. I asked him what options. I was told either AHW would repair my furnace or replace it if it couldn't be repaired. The tech told me no. AHW would only give me a $2000 credit toward a new furnace. He left and I immediately called AHW. The representative checked and the tech had not put any information into AHW's system. She was letting her manager know and requested to have her manager call me. Now my doorbell is ringing and George ** General Manager for Houston Air Comforts was at my door. After sitting down he gave me several brochures on a new furnace with a 10 year warranty.

For only $9850 minus the $2000 credit from AHW he could put in a brand new furnace. I said absolutely not. I contacted AHW again this time requesting a supv. The supv said he would look into things and call back within 24 to 48 hours. I still don't have heat. I contacted another licensed heating contractor for a second opinion. He said my unit could be repaired, it had been maintained and he took pictures. I once again contacted AHW. They spoke with the licensed contractor for then told me they were standing on denying my claim because my furnace wasn't maintained. I asked them again to please look at the pictures my contractor had. AHW refused. I paid $831 plus $75 to Houston Air Comfort totaling $906 for my furnace to be repaired. Houston Air Comfort never intended on repairing my furnace only selling me A NEW FURNACE.

The next day I received a call from Stacy at AHW. I explained everything to her. She apologized and as an offer of goodwill she was prepared to give me $200. I said no. I explained after paying Houston Air Comfort $75 I would only be getting $125 for the repair. She finally offered me $400 which according to her she wasn't supposed to do. She then said getting $400 would be better than getting nothing. I finally accepted. I called in and cancelled my warranty. STAY AWAY FROM AMAZON HOME WARRANTY. THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF.

I have made several claims with this company and they have avoided paying for them. The latest was a claim of a leaking pipe on December 23. I was told they would get back to me in 24 to 48 hours. I told them the pipe is leaking all over the floor and was told that is all they can do. The next day they gave me the name of a plumber but he said he could not come until the 30th. I called back and was told I could get someone who could come out sooner but he would have to submit an order and wait 24 hours for approval.

I was able to slow the leak down so I could catch the water in a bucket and got my own plumber. I was not going to wait another 24 hours emptying buckets and hoping the leak didn't get worse. If I turned off this pipe there would be no water in the house. I would not recommend this company unless you are into getting aggravated and paying for repairs yourself. This is the second time I had a pipe leak that they could not fix for two days.

I have now had 2 unacceptable experiences with warranties. On both occasions, Amazon have sent me people from sub standard businesses that do not submit their findings on time or did not contact me in one instance. My first claim was turned down as I was told that the report mentioned that my washing machine had rust. This was after the first repair company had submitted their report stating that the repair would cost Amazon $445.82. I was told by customer service that they had not received any feedback and so I insisted that another provider be sent out and this subsequently ended in my claim being denied because the technician said that he had found rust.

I had another claim on my dryer recently and again the service has been bad. Every time I call Amazon, I am told that I have to wait 24-48 hours for a call back. I had enough of the messing around and called to cancel my contract after 6 months because of the terrible service. I checked my credit card this morning and found that I had been build for an additional 6 months of the outstanding contract. I immediately contacted Amazon and left a message with a representative that under no circumstances would I pay them and would dispute their charge. Having worked with a few warranty businesses over the past 16 years, I will say with confidence that Amazon Home Warranty is the worst of the bunch. Do not consider them if you are looking for this service as they are below par and I would give a rating of about 1 out of 5.

If I could I would give a - 5 stars. I renewed my Amazon Home Warranty for the second year in August 2020 in the amount of $610.00 to be in effect on Sept. 20, 2020. The first time I had occasion to need a plumber was the 2nd month of the second year. I was instructed to call "Mr. Rooter" one of their contracted companies. Was told by Mr. Rooter that they were no longer working with AHW as they were not being paid, AHW was not responding to phone calls or email. I called AHW and told them what I had encountered and had authorization to use them anyway and would be reimbursed. I did get a reimbursement check for that.

Then 2 weeks later my hot water recirculating pump quit and I called a plumber - went through the procedure of having the plumber speak with the the authorizing dept. - my plumber spoke with them, explained the problem, that the pump needed replacement. The plumber handed the phone back to me with no one on the line. Pump was replaced, I called AHW to file for reimbursement and was told that it was not authorized and I was not going to be reimbursed. That they spoke with the dept. and they denied the authorized.

Today I got a confirmation call from AHW that they definitely were not going to reimburse me. With that, I canceled my contract of 2 1/2 months and received only $150.00 refund. All other companies I have investigated guarantee full refund in the first 30 days or equitable refund based on months. When I moved from another state and was having a home built, I received a full refund for unused months since I did not have a home to transfer it to. I will not now, nor will I ever refer anyone to Amazon Home Warranty company.

Their sales pitch is if it can't be repaired, it will be replaced. The reality is that it's nothing close to that. My washing machine needed to be repaired so I submitted a claim. Days went by with no response. Finally I called them and was told that I would have to find someone to repair it, then request reimbursement. The repair man determined that the main circuit board was bad. My washer is about 11 years old, but that part was no longer made. So it can't be repaired, so it will be replaced, right? WRONG!

In the last paragraph of their limitations of liability section it says that if a part is not available, they are only obligated to pay for the average cost of the part to be replaced. WHY? The part is not available. So I had to pay the repair guy $90 for the service call and their service call fee of $65. So I'm out of pocket $155. The warranty company said they would pay $199 for the part. WOW! So for my $700 warranty plan that's supposed to replace it if it can't be repaired, I'm going to get $44. What a bunch of con artists.

My furnace went out on 12/15/2020. I get a call from someone by the name of Devlin from Amazon Home Warranty telling me that they could not cover my furnace because it was a pre existing condition. I asked him how he determined this. He said because the contract was in effect 3 days and they determine what a pre existing condition is. This didn't make any sense because I already had coverage from my previous company. And they never came out to look at the furnace on the effective date. Then he had the nerve to tell me that they would have to prorate my cost and charge me a cancellation fee if I terminated my contract.

I would not suggest that anyone do business with this company because from my first experience with them. It appears they are looking for reason to deny your claim. If a contract goes in effect on 12/12/2020, service should be granted any time after that. No one knows when a furnace, appliance or any mechanical thing will break down. 9-20-2020 Contract Purchased. Coverage Begins 10-2-2020. 10-7-2020 I had done, I believe three loads of laundry. During the third load the washing machine gave a different type of beep. When I went to investigate, I found an error code E6E1. Within an hour, as per the contract of notifying as soon as possible, I filed a claim, #**. 10-8-2020 I received and email notifying me that AHW was trying to reach me to talk to me about the claim. I called them and they informed me that this might be considered a previous condition and if so the claim would not be approved. Also, if disapproved I would be responsible for the initial call charge. Knowing I had to get the machine repaired I told them I understood and agreed to having them sent out the technician.

10-9-2020 I received an email from AWH stating a Repair Dispatch was created. The dispatch had been assigned to Appliance Install and Repair (AIR), Cookeville, TN. Due to travel plans the Technician and I scheduled for 10/19/2020. 10-19-2020 The Technician came and I paid the service fee charge of $65.00 per the contract. The Technician investigated the problem finding the mail control board (solid state) and the door latch (solid state control) needed to be replaced. He would need to send his report in for approval.

Specific Dates Unknown. After a couple of phone calls to AHW I was informed my claim had been approved and the parts ordered. I also called AIR and they confirmed the approval and parts had been ordered. 10-23-2020 Through an email AHW confirmed the parts were on order but were back ordered. The expected delivery date to AIR was 11/27/2020. 11-27-2020 The parts did not arrive. 11-30-2020 I called AIR and confirmed they had not received them. They confirmed the new expected deliveries, one part would arrive by the end of December and the other early January. I called AWH to see if there was any way to expedite the parts. Basically, I was told there was nothing to do. However, if I wanted to take a cash buyout they could do so in the amount of the repair. I did not ask for the amount, but said I would rather get the machine fixed. I was told I could call back to see if the dates changed.

12-2-2020 I called AHW to see if the delivery dates had improved. I was told they had not. Again, I was told I could take a cash buyout. I was told I would receive $400.00 towards repair or purchase of a new machine. I would receive a check if I chose this option. I said I would prefer to get the machine fixed. 12-4-2020 I called AHW with the intention of determining if the parts delivery date had improved. The Representative then told my claim was now disapproved. He then transferred me to a Manager, Stacy (Ext. **).

Stacy basically informed me that they had decided that my claim was a pre-existing condition and the claim was no longer approved. Explaining I have an Electrical Engineering degree I questioned how a solid state failure could be considered pre-existing, especially since everyone knows a solid state device is not a wear and tear item and can fail at anytime. She had no other explanation other than to say they decided it was a pre-existing condition. But, she said, in order to make this a positive outcome they were willing to offer me $150.00. Long story short, I asked they at least reconsider and give me the $400.00 offered only two days ago. She said there was nothing she could do and the decision was final. I told her I would have to think about this.

How can something showing approved for roughly 6 weeks be suddenly changed to not approved??? I know the contract says it is at their discretion to determine if it is a pre-existing condition, why was approval given to begin with? Why tell the Technician it is approved and order parts? Was it because they got tired of me investigating if the parts could be obtained sooner? Was I now considered an agitator? Was it the fact that after investigating on the internet I found the parts available from other distributors and questioned why they could not order from them?

Amazon Home Warranty is refusing to cover a claim to replace a bad blower in my HVAC unit, we have now been without central air conditioning for over a week. I first called the company that installed new compressors and inspected the system for us only a few weeks ago thinking that the repair was under warranty. They inspected the unit and discovered that the blower motor failed. Because the blower motor failed, and the compressor outside was still running, this caused the coils to freeze up in the air handler. When we realized that there was no air coming out of the registers, we turned the AC off. This caused the frozen condensation on the coils to melt into the drain pan. We were told that the blower was not something that they worked on when they replaced the compressor, so this was not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. We then decided to contact the Home Warranty we purchased through Amazon Home Warranty.

First, I didn’t hear back from anyone at AHW for 24 hours after filing my claim on 10/13, then when I called on 10/14 I was given a phone number for the local party who would make the repair. I called the number and the technician indicated that he doesn’t handle AC units anymore. I contacted AHW again on 10/14 to have them send another technician out.

The technician they sent to my home mis-diagnosed the issue as being caused by a leak. The issue is that the blower motor failed while the compressor continued to run causing the coils in the unit to freeze. I followed the AHW second opinion process and had an independent repair company provide documentation or the cause, who documented the cause and AHW is still refusing to cover the repair, and cannot give me a reason why. For this reason, I am calling AHW a scam.

They did not have a service company in our area that could help us and I would have to find a service on my own and they would refund the cost of the service. The cost of the service was $642.32. After the repair I sent a copy of the bill. When I called to ask for repayment I was told they did not receive a copy of the bill. I sent it again and was told they would only be $500. I have called and sent many requests but have not received a call, email or refund for the service and today is September 25, 2020.

I wish I could give them no stars--this company will take your money but not actually cover anything. They seem to be good at finding just the right wording in your claim to be able to deny the claim. As a disable veteran I would encourage anyone associated with the military to avoid this so called home warranty company. Additionally, in order to not have to pay any kind of claim, they make stuff up. They lie. And then they act like your the bad guy.

The supervisor of the service tech they sent out even tried to reason with them and they hung up on her. This same supervisor sent me a copy of what they sent to Amazon Home Warranty and it was entirely different form the load of crap Amazon was trying to feed me. I even filed a BBB complaint and their response was to patronize me by "thanking" me for my military service and offering me a free service call. No thank you. Keep your free service call and save the feigned gratitude for someone else. I will not be renewing.

I tried calling the Amazon Home Warranty Service 2-3 days per week but could not get anyone so I went through the Amazon customer service. After finally speaking with Amazon Home Warranty and explaining that I was having trouble getting a return call from the service company and that my thermostat had been going up to 85 and sticking for almost 30 days, I was told that I could get someone to repair my unit and submit the bill for reimbursement.

After the serviceman had ordered the unit Amazon asked him to call them. They then notified me that my repair was not covered because the wire had burned into and that they did not cover wiring. I explained that I had been trying to get it repaired for 30 days and the constant strain had probably caused the wire to burn into. I had my unit serviced in February when we had storm damage and there was no wiring damage detected. My heater had worked fine. There was no sign of burned wiring going to the unit nor inside of my house. I feel like this was just a way not to honor the contract. I would not recommend Amazon Home Warranty to anyone. I was without air for 30 days in July. I felt like I had done everything that I could to get the unit repaired. Find another company that will get a repair person in a timely manner. So I place a claim on line and 12 days and a dozen calls or so later I’m told to find my own repair guy as they can’t see my or find one! I live in a small town and kinda get this (not the time frame!!) and that they will reimburse. So I make a call and that evening it’s fixed for 175.00. I call to get the claim and I’m told that the switch And fan isn’t covered and they will not reimburse me.

I call 2 months later for a freezing up issue. After 10 days I get a call they won’t send a tech because they were told that the only way it freezes is a maintenance issue not theirs. I had it fixed before I heard from them. It wasn’t a maintenance issue. It was a fan issue not pulling air through. Was told that I wasted their time because I failed to inform them that I had it fixed already! And that they will not accept any responsibility for this. And this 1000 repair was on me!!! Asked to speak to the review Dept was told they would contact me within the next 30 days!! Find someone else!! Save the headache!

It is nearly impossible to talk to anyone of any authority to try to understand their reasoning. I understand that warranty companies are businesses and that they want to make money. That's fine except when they do not honor the service that they have taken payment to provide. I have been unable to find the name of any CEO or person of authority to talk to. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! READ THE POOR REVIEWS, THEY ARE ACCURATE!!! I read through the reviews here, and I can tell you that these with 3,4,5-stars must be some easily impressed people, or they were compensated for their “review.” My experience with AHW has been terrible. While I was reading the 1 and 2-star reviews, everyone had EXPERIENCED the SAME PROBLEMS with AHW, as I HAD! Bottom line is AHW takes advantage of deceptive business practices and false pretense, under the guise of providing insurance coverage, to steal your money without providing the service for which you paid.

Let me begin by saying that my systems and appliances are not new. If they were, I would have absolutely no use for a “home warranty,” but they are not new, and I expected that they would begin to fail, so I signed up for the Combo plan in April 2020, and after AHW greedily lapped up my money, my contract took effect May 13, 2020. My refrigerator failed on May 24, so I filed an online claim. After several days with NO RESPONSE I called AHW three or four times, but since COVID was in full swing, there was no answer. ( Each time I called was at least 45 minutes in the queue, and I don’t have all day to spend on the phone.) When I finally reached someone about my claim, I was told that she “didn’t understand the status” of my claim and would have a claim specialist contact me within 24-48 hours.

The claim specialist NEVER CALLED. I played this same game with them 2 more times through June, and still no call back. The online claim tool shows that my claim is “non-covered.” Meanwhile, my fridge is still broken. On July 29 my A/C went out, so I filed a claim online... Fully expecting to get the same treatment that I received with my fridge. As soon as I submitted the claim, the claim was rejected as “non-covered.” I filed the claim another three times with different dates, all same result, DENIED! I called to file a claim over the phone and was given the usual line: “a technician will contact you within 24-48 hours”....still no call... Now I have a broken fridge and A/C too!

While on the phone, I asked them to reopen my previous claim. I was then told that my refrigerator had a preexisting issue and they would not honor claims within 14 days of the start of the contract! (This is Published NOWHERE in the contract, and they keep referring me to section 1B of the contract that I received on April 13 which states that: “Are in place and in proper working order on the effective date of this Contract”).

All of my appliances were in place and in proper working order when I entered the contract, and for them to tell me that there were preexisting problems with them when they NEVER sent a service technician to evaluate the fridge is preposterous and fraudulent, yet they stick to that story like glue, arguing about “logic” and making flimsy analogies between your failed appliance and a used car to get you to “understand” what they want you to think (which is not logical or consistent with the truth), while continuing to deny that they will cover the issue, hitting me over the head with section 1(B) of their contract and swearing that they are holding up their end of the “bargain” and providing valuable services to me.

My experience with AMAZON HOME WARRANTY, is that they will lure you into an agreement under false pretenses and are eager to take your money, but will brush you off, stall you, twist facts, lie and do whatever else it takes for them to “justify” denying your claim while you’re left footing the bill for a reputable local company to make the repairs anyway. Take the $$ you were going to spend on AHW and SAVE it to pay for the REPAIRS YOURSELF because THAT'S what you will END UP DOING ANYWAY!!

Updated on 04/06/2021: If you are anticipating very small issues then this might work. Keep in mind that you pay a service fee even in that case. So you may not save hundreds anyway. If you have a larger issue then AHW may find some reasons to deny the claim. I had 2 issues.

    1. Microwave - I had to call AHW and the contractor multiple time to have them check it. Then the contractor didn't respond at all. I had many calls with AHW and finally they allowed me to hire another contractor. It took about 3 weeks to fix the issue.

    2. Refrigerator - Luckily the contractor came on 5th day (including weekend) after initiating the claim. He said that he is going to recommend replacement instead of repair. I didn't receive any update from AHW and so I was calling them again and again. They denied the claim stating that it is Freon leak. Being suspicious, I decided to hire another independent contractor and he confirmed that there is no leak but it is just a bad compressor. I reported his findings to AHW few days ago. They reopened the claim but is still reviewing my claim (almost 20 days past the claim start date).

I called them to cancel my 3 year contract (after enrolling 1 year ago). They are going to repay only around 15% of my money if I cancel my contract. With that, I am stuck with them unfortunately. Stay away from this company if possible.

Original Review: Amazon Home Warranty is my second provider. I moved to Amazon home warranty after my earlier provider took 5 days to fix my heater in Winter. And now I believe that the other provider was far better. I raised my first claim (and could be the last claim) with Amazon home warranty when I had trouble with closing the microwave oven door (On a Friday or Saturday). They assigned a contractor on Tuesday. Contractor wasn't available for immediate appointment and they came only on Saturday. After inspection, contractor said that he will try to get the replacement parts or look other options in next few days.

I never received an update from contractor or AHW for next 8 days. Called the contractor couple of times, left voice messages but no response for any of them. Called AHW on a Friday and they said that an update will be provided on Monday. No response on Monday. I called AHW again (close to 1 hour wait on the phone to get a customer service representative) today and their response was that they need an update from Contractor to proceed further (close to 3 weeks now from the claim start date). I am still waiting and so I would probably cancel the contract after the issue is fixed. I will not recommend Amazon home warranty to anyone.

They said we’re sorry you have to pay for 12 months. They charged me again. And my bank account went negative. This was after I repeatedly told them I had to cancel because of financial issues. Even in better times I would not use them again. Very little is covered. They are only concerned about the monthly revenue to their company. Now I have to call my bank and dispute.

Amazon Home Warranty is the WORST company to "give you a peace of mind" that your home appliances are covered. My Central AC has been out for a month now. They're trying to save $145 by taking a 50/50 chance on an expensive repair that may not work versus just the buyout towards a new unit. My old one is 29 years old... multiple leaks and they want to blow their entire allowance per item on a gamble. 3 weeks of no AC in west Texas is NO JOKE!

I tried to cancel and was told they will not cancel. On the phone about a half hour, very insulting, racist person on the phone. Amazon.com has nothing to do with them but they say they are selling the warranty as a part of Amazon.com. Liars.

I purchased a house and closed on March 6, 2020. The seller agreed to pay for a home warranty, so I thought I'd look around online. Based on the reviews, I chose Amazon Home Warranty. The signup process was easy enough, though the policy was issued 2 weeks later (03/21/2020) - I assume there was a delay from the seller. Anyway, so I got a confirmation, so far so good.

This past weekend, 04/11/2020, I noticed there was a water stain on my basement ceiling. I tried to look where the water came from, and found out the water line to the dish waster was leaking. It was previously fine after moving in my new home for a couple weeks, and never had any issue. Obviously the problem just started after a few weeks. Why would I lie?

I called Amazon Home Warranty to submit a claim on 04/12/2020. Initially I got an email confirmation, but the agent I spoke told me there was a problem on his screen. On 04/13/2020 morning I called again to confirm. The agent denied my claim because she stated that the contract won't start until 04/21/2020, which is a month later than the purchase date. Who would've thought?!

Not only they denied my claim, they stated that they now have a record that my dishwasher has a pre-existing condition and I won't be able to claim any repair. I feel totally scammed. Obviously the dishwasher worked just fine for a couple weeks and just had an issue after the fact. Although the contract stated that the coverage would only start a month after the purchase, It made me believe that they lead the customer into this trap. This is something that a regular customer would get trapped into. I am very disappointed with this and please avoid this company.

Our garbage disposal stopped working and we called in to see if it could be fixed. Amazons was fast and very professional. They got hold on one of their vendors who came out and replaced it. Then they called afterwards to make sure everything was done and we were happy. I will recommend them to my friends and family that are looking for a great homeowner's plan.

I had some issue with my central air conditioning system a few weeks before. I called them to sort out the issue via phone. The guy who picked up the call was very polite and was ready to answer my request at no time. They responded to my claim quickly and sent a service person the next day itself. They had a thorough understanding of the working of my system and fixed the problem within half an hour. I was very pleased with the service and would recommend them for all.

I have been using a home warranty company previously and I'm not satisfied with their service. Finally, a friend of mine referred to Amazon Home Warranty last year and was very much pleased with their service. I filed 3 claims and all were resolved on time. They were always available. I appreciate the promptness of their customer service. Thank you for providing me a wonderful service.

I wish there was option for zero star. I don't know why I fell for this warranty company, I guess I was convinced by some of fake positive reviews. I was with this company for almost a year. Never had to use them until two days ago. I started having problems with my air conditioner so called Amazon to open a new claim and then my nightmare started. Technician came and did some work then asked me to pay him $75 my copay for visit which I did pay him. He left after telling me service has to be authorized by amazon home warranty and that they would contact me. They never did.

I had to call several time and every time some rudest bit.. Tia answered the phone put me on hold for almost an hour than disconnected the line she did it not once, not twice but three times. Then after insisting that I need to talk to to a supervisor, she connected me to some joker called Mark who started talking like the was auditioning for some tv show. Long story short after two days they told me they won't pay for the service. Guys trust me. Don't fall for sweet tone of the first guy who would sell you warranty. It is when you run into some problems and call claim and service department to get a service approved, that you see their real face. My opinion they are not worth it. Only service they would pay is the amount that would be covered by your service fee of $75. They don't wanna pay for nothing. Well silver lining is that all happened right before my renewal. Obviously won't be renewing my contract with them.
