I have had AHWP/AHW/Amazon home warranty since 2020. It has been a joke. My microwave broke after paying the deductible three months past and they wrote me a check for 250 because it was gonna cost him more. My dryer broke same thing in May 2023. My dishwasher broke same thing, but this time they have failed to issuing me a check they have strung me along day after day for almost 3 months now telling me their billing department was experiencing issues or they are working on it or the checks in the mail. They are fraud. They’re a joke. When you call their overseas customer service department nobody knows how to do anything. They’re unprofessional. They will argue with you. They are rude and dismissive. Avoid them at all cost

I filed a claim about my washing machine. The repair man they sent left me a list of parts that need to be replace, but the claims adjuster said that they had proof that I was overloading the machine, and they denied the claim. I asked to speak to a supervisor, they would not allow me to. This is the second time I have had a claim denied by these people.

I called AHW to have a repair ticket issued for my Maytag stove. Imagine my surprise when they told me they have no technicians that can work on my stove and that I needed to call and find someone who would. Then I would have to submit a claim for the repair that may or may not be approved and that I had to pay for it myself and they would or would not reimburse me. Excuse me? What am I paying almost $500 a year for? How much is MY time worth? My warranty comes up for renewal in April and after 3+ yrs will be finding another company! Their customer service is HORRIBLE. I don't know what's happened to this once decent home warranty company but they are no one you want to give your money to.

They sent out a contractor, R-Max Mechanical, that lied to us about the claim process. We were unable to be reimbursed for our claim. Their customer service is awful. Most of the time no one answers the phone. Would not let me speak to a supervisor, won't do anything about the unscrupulous contractors they have and their billing department won't pick up so I can make sure they don't auto renew me. Nightmare all around. Do not use them.

I have had this home warranty service for 32 0f my 36 month contract and never needed any service until now. My GE oven broiler did not work so I reported it to AHW after a 32 minute hold. They sent a repairman out, who took my $60 and he told me it needed a new control board. 4 days later, I called and after a 36 minute hold, I talked with someone from the Philippines who hardy spoke English. Best I could understand was my oven was not covered. 2 days later, I called back and was told to send a picture of my oven which I did. AHW's policy is to wait 24 to 48 hours after info is sent so I waited. When I called back, again to someone with broken English, I now needed to send them a picture of the data tag which I did. My last call hit the jackpot. I was told that my 21 year old was too old and not covered. GE has the parts for my oven. My Advice. Stay away from AHW. 8-9-23 TP.

This is a Fraud company. I had them for several years and only needed their services twice. Both times my claims were rejected. The second time, the technician they sent out said my HVAC had a blown capacitor. AHW said they don't cover that and denied the claim. I had another technician out on my own dime who fixed it in about 20 minutes and said the issue was unrelated. This all happened at the end of this July. I called a few days later after getting the write up from the second company to get a reimbursement.
The response I got from AHW was 'we no longer provide service in your state and so you are no longer covered. There's nothing we can do.' I told them that both technicians came in July when they did provide service in my state and when I was covered. They refused to honor the fact that I was covered at the time of service of both technician visits. Oh yeah, I've never been able to call without being on hold for at least an hour. FRAUD COMPANY. STAY AWAY.

Purchased a home warranty; no claims, no service. Canceled warranty July 14, 2023; according to contract I am entitled to pro-rated refund. Unable to make contact by phone, text or email! Terrible Customer Service.

The company decided to payoff instead of repairing my refrigerator. After four months and multiple calls, they finally informed me that the check has been issued and sent out. Never received the check. Multiple weekly calls afterwards went on deaf ears. Each time, they said they would escalate the issue to the company which issues their check. So, far there have been 5 escalations without any answer. They have advised me to wait and they do not have any idea what the next step is and how long it will be to resolve it. Their contract does not have any remedy for such situation and apparently they can walk away without taking any steps.

I contacted AHW representative after 1 hour on hold and then being switch several times. Finally the service request was taken. 3 days later a plumbing technician made a appointment, inspected the repair and called AHW for approval. He was on hold 1 hour for approval, they hang up on him. He repaired the item and that is why they turned the claim down. Their ploy is to delay, hang up and wait you out! It’s a sham and you’re better off putting money in a bank account.

Avoid this company. They will do everything they can to not pay out for anything. My stove had a bad board. The board was no longer available. The tech said it would be between $400 and $500 to replace if it was available. AHW offered me $200, which covered the service fee and a small amount of the replacement cost. Be careful of what you tell them, they will look for any reason to deny a claim. In my opinion, if you are going to get a Home Warranty, go with a better company. This is cheap for a reason.

Read the other 1 Star ratings. They are all completely accurate. I too was fooled into purchasing the 3-year plan because the rates were so competitive. I even compared their coverage to other Home Warranties. However, I found out the hard way that saying they cover 2 refrigerators, garage door openers, 2 A/Cs, etc. in the contract is meaningless if the small print removes coverage for anything and everything that could actually go wrong with the unit. While all my neighbor's home warranty companies are paying for the same repairs for the neighbors’ items, AHW is denying ours - every time.
Their consistent mode of operation is to make you pay your deductible for a technician to come out. The technician thinks it is something that should be covered, writes up a report when they get home or calls it in, and then AHW tells them it isn't covered. I hear nothing until I call into AHW customer service, and they cite some random word out of the exclusions and say that it isn't covered. I research the policy and point out their citation is erroneous or out of the wrong section of the policy and they will continue to try to find another way to deny the claim.
Finally, after much back and forth, they tell me they will make an exception and will only pay the claim, but they end up only offering half of the actual cost. They will try to tell me that they don't cover labor. I point out in the policy that it says they owe for labor. Then they will go to another section of the policy that says they can elect to make a cash settlement at their cost which may be less than retail. I ask them to show me how that is "their cost". They tell me they don't have to show me their cost - but that is all they are going to pay. Most of the time I can't even purchase the part, let alone the technician labor for what they pay, if they pay anything.
They have done this with a wine fridge, two garage door openers, an ice maker, and an air conditioner. We have a year left on the policy and we have now figured out that it is definitely worthless, and they are never going to cover a claim, so we are going to purchase a policy from American Home Shield. American Home Shield has proven to our neighbors that they actually cover what the policy says they cover. BTW - the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has multiple investigations open on AHW and has referred at least one of them to the Prosecutor's office already.

I would recommend to stay far far away from this fraud company, I have had their service for a year, my range one burner stopped working.Technician they chose came and confirmed it's not worth to replace to the part as it would be costlier with labor and parts, that's what he recommended to AHW to which they have approved 350 courtesy cost which hasn't been sent even after 3 months, when I call to check on them I have been told check department is processing but never been processed. They stopped responding to my emails, calls from my phone are put on unlimited loop which never gets transferred. I have reported them to BetterBusiness Bureau..They are such a scam. They don't respond to them as well. On top of all this I had to shell out 2k to get a new range. I am so fed up with them, going to keep writing reviews to warn potential buyers and make them stay away from this company.

I had this warranty for 2.5 yrs now and I have 2 issues so far:
2) My Dryer broke due to a circuit issue. They said it's not covered and gave me a courtesy $300. It took me $750 to replace that.
The point being their contract covers them in all these aspects. But as a consumer, you have no benefit owing this. Stay away from these companies.

I paid for 3 years of the full service plan. I would urge you not to buy any of their plans whatsoever. Do not trust what they say over the phone. It is a waste of your time and money. It has been almost 6 months and my plumbing repair is still under review of being approved. There is no reason that this can't be addressed right now. They forced me to find my own service provider every single time because they were unable to source their own. They made me pay them after they approved to get it fixed. Since then, they keep wasting my time by saying it's under review and, "We will get back to you." So far no one has called or emailed us for my refund. It is a shame that they are spoiling the brand name of Amazon HW. I hope management gets on their case.

I have called 3 times and have been on hold for 1.5 hours each time. Someone answers and hangs up. I've had this company 2.5 years, and have had made only 1 claim and they didn't even fix the issue. I'm just trying to get help now. I haven't heard about my online claim for 3 days now. I'm not confident I'll get anywhere with AHW.

I signed up for a 3 year contact in Sept, 2020. The company was still Amazon Home Warranty and I paid upfront. I researched the company and the reviews were okay then. I have never made a claim until two weeks ago when my a/c quit. The service tech came out 5 days later and said I had a broken blower motor. He submitted pictures to AHW the next morning, Thursday. I heard nothing from AHW so I called on Friday afternoon. They said they had 24 to 48 hours to make a determination. I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told the supervisor would say the same thing. I insisted and a supervisor came on the line. I explained that it was over 90 degrees and I had been without my a/c for a week. She said she would escalate the claim but couldn’t do anything else.
I called again on Monday and got a rude woman who initially said they could take 24 to 48 hours to review the claim. I argued it was over 48 hours and then she switched her story to 24 to 72 hours. Still didn’t hear anything that day but called this afternoon, Tuesday, and they hung up on me three times, after I gave them my claim number and name. I called back an hour later and was told they denied my claim because the pictures they saw showed a little dust on the blower motor, so it was my fault. The a/c was serviced and in order until it quit suddenly. They haven’t sent anything in writing. They are a bunch of frauds and scammers. Don’t waste your money on this horrible, dishonest company. I am also contacting the attorney general in my home state and in Ohio, where their offices are located. I know there was a class action suit in at least one other state.

They collected for a 3-year warranty. Denied each of the first 3 claims after charging us hundreds of dollars to send technicians and perform tests. We cancelled with 18 month left on our contract, but they told us we would get no refund for the unused portion. Their terms clearly state "If We cancel this Contract (except for fraud) or if You cancel this contract after the first 30 days of the Contract Term, then You shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid Contract fee for the unexpired term, less a cancellation fee of the lesser of $30 or 10% of the Contract fee (unless otherwise required by state law), and any actual service costs incurred by Us.".
The same three individuals (English as a second language) answer all calls and after they tell you that someone has already explained that you won't get a refund, they hang up on you. They will not explain anything. We should have done our research. They are the bottom of the barrel. Countless negative reviews everywhere. 70 pages of unanswered complaints and an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This company is running a fraudulent SCAM and needs to face criminal prosecution. They are headquartered in small single office on the second floor of budget office building in Columbus, OH.

Updated on 06/19/2023: This is an update. I was finally able to get through to cancelation department. They offerred me $200 for my inconvenience. My bill was $520, so I would have still lost money. I finally got it through to them that I wanted to cancel my contract and they agreed to do that as of the day I finally got through to them. I told them that was a real load. They needed to prorate my cancellation back to their first name change and phone number change, since they has essentially cancelled the contract on that date. I read to them the website address and phone number that were clearly listed in my contract, neither of which are current. As I explained to them the result of that was that the methods of contact that they list in my contract are invalid and it took me a week to find their new phone number. They refused that. Not a surprise and said they would mail me the refund prorated to that day, in the next 3 to 5 weeks. I will let you know if it ever arrives.
Original Review: Purchased a three year home warranty. Paid for it. Finally needed it as my air conditioner stopped working. Tried to find the AHW website but couldn’t. It was not at the address in my contract. Looking over their history it looks like there have been some website name changes in the less than one year since I bought the policy. It was in the 90’s out. I called phone number after phone number trying to run them down. The listed phone numbers were all out of service.
Finally called Consumer Affairs in Ohio and got the new number. By then I had to get the air conditioner fixed. AHW then refused to even talk to me because I did not go through the approval process, even when I explained what I had had to go through. Too bad, they said. So I asked to talk to Cancellation and after a looooong wait, I am still on hold. In between all this, when talking to the first rep., I got hung up on and had to call back. The first time I called this number I got someone with a foreign accent who told me that AHW was out of business. Stay far, far away from this company.

This company stinks. They have had it under review for 3 weeks and nothing. Constant calls, constant excuses, nothing. Always excuses. Over 3 YEARS the majority of claims turned down. I tried to cancel but they insisted their contract was still good. Stay away from this company.

I had service with AHW for 3 years. In 2022 customer service went way down. I had a contractor for plumbing come out, make me feel uncomfortable in my home, shout at me, refuse to finish looking at the issue & left my home, then AHW still expected me to pay the service fee. I let this slide until at the end of last year. I made a claim for my heater. It was taking long for a technician to come out in December when it was very cold, while waiting for them to schedule repair I had my boyfriend look at and he was able to repair it. This happened in Dec 2022. I am STILL waiting on my reimbursement check! The claims agent have an attitude and I have only had 2 good call experience. Their reimbursement department has an issue with their software and are backed up. It is May 2023 and I am still waiting for my check! Horrible service and rude agents. I would not even give it the 1 star.

Terrible company. They do all they can to avoid paying a claim. The cs people only speak broken English and have NO product knowledge. The man who sold me the policy lied about what was covered and I paid 2 yrs of premiums for nothing. Run like hell before using this company!

The worst home warranty insurance I’ve ever seen in my life. How did they get a license to cheat people and how do they have this much power to mess up people money. I can’t wait for this company to be investigated and to get my money back. The government needs to do an investigation. Be aware and do not join this company. You will be a loser. The workers don’t transfer you to the supervisor.

AHW took my monthly payments. When it came time to cover repairs on my furnace, they could not find one of their in network repair companies to repair the furnace. So, they told me to find one. I found a reputable repair company who could do the repairs for $900. AHW offered $200 to me. After a back and forth, they offered $450 but would not pay for the repairs. In other words they did not do what I paid for. So, I cancelled my contract. Then, they refused to send the money for the repairs. Beware of this company.

This company ALWAYS looks for a way to avoid a claim. As I've read with others, if a covered part is not available, they just pay what it would have cost (according to their cheap payment schedule) leaving you with a non-functioning product rather than offering a replacement as in their contract. They also send UNQUALIFIED techs to fix problems. In 1 case, the tech damaged my refrigerator, they authorized me to get my tech out to fix the issue then denied the claim since the original tech caused it, saying it was his responsibility to fix it. I questioned other problems and was told they were not covered items although I read the contract otherwise. I'm done with them. Not another dime to this crooked company.

Well my ice maker does not produce ice and parts are no longer made by Samsung, technician informed Amazon that the manufacturer does not make that part. Amazon stated hat they will sent me 102.00 to purchase the part myself and have it installed. Totally unsat. I thought the motto that they will fix of replace, at this point I cancelled my contract with them. Amazon is not honoring their contract to replace the refrigerator.

Do not use this company. Every few months something happened to my billing and they did not charge the credit card I have on file. When I realized this I would call them. I got different answers from different people. This last time I had to call and the person said someone would call me back but nobody ever did. Save your money and don’t sign up with them.

I have been paying for their warranty program for 3 years. Had not filed any claims. My AC unit went out. They stated due to the fine print I was not covered because the AC Unit didn't die out correctly I assume. That's fine, but I no longer want to renew my policy which I have already paid for. Well the department that handles that is having technical difficulties for the last two weeks which seems convenient since the new contract is about to start. The company now is screening my calls as a way to lock me into a new contract and avoid giving me a refund. I believe its a scam and they have no intentions of giving out claims. Hell, I had to call around and find a company on my own to come out and look at it.

This is a scam. I had 3 work orders. My workmen call them and they approved the work. After I sent in the bill to be reimbursed, they denied approval. They did send me a check for a small amount for a new dishwasher, very small. I cashed the check and, lo and behold, they placed a stop payment on it. Why is this company allowed to exist?

Several months ago I switched to AHW based on a great offer. Relying on the Amazon name, I switched. Fortunately I had no need to use them for many months. Then, we had a problem with hour electric dryer's power switch. I made a request to AHW. I was emailed that a contractor had been assigned to my request and that I did not hear within 48 hours I should call them. I found this curious since I was the client, shouldn't they been responsible to contact me? Wasn't that what I was paying for? I received no response.
After 3 days AHW followed up to see if an appointment had been set up to which I replied no. They then assigned me to second contractor and this contractor did not reach out to me - I had to track him down. We set up an appointment. He never came. After waiting 45 minutes I called and left a voice mail - still no response. I called customer service. They really seemed not to care, even when I threatened to cancel.
I called back a second day and was treated about the same so I asked to cancel. I had paid for the year upfront so I asked if I would get refunded partially. The rep thought I would. I was transferred and waited on line for almost an hour. I called back and was advised that there was a problem with the system. I then emailed my request to cancel. At no time did anyone empathize or apologize. I am not expecting them to refund anything either. I have been with other Home Warranty companies and have never been so ill treated. Apparently I got what I paid for with the lower price offer.
