I had nothing but poor service, unqualified repairmen, and an attitude from them when I complained that they didn’t care. Repairmen they contacted were always from out of town and it was like pulling teeth to get a quick appointment. Twice, I not only paid the $75 service fee, but the repairmen couldn’t fix the problem. One was a dishwasher and one was a garbage disposal. They sent money to replace the dishwasher, but the amount they sent would only buy the bottom line of dishwasher, not comparable to the one we had, and didn’t cover the cost of hiring a plumber to install it.
The garbage disposal guy made 3 appointments, but never showed up. Instead, he had me take pictures of it so he could see the model number. He then informed me that my disposal was discontinued and would have to be replaced. Again, they replaced it, after deducting the $75 service fee, and again, it cost me additional money to have someone install it. My oven broke. They sent a man to “fix” it. While fixing it, he broke the hinge on the door and said he would order me a new door. Without being able to close the door, the oven wouldn’t work so we had to duct tape it closed to use it. A week later it was broken again, doing the same thing that was supposed to be repaired. I called numerous times to find out about the door and the repair to no avail.
Finally, they sent a second repairman to fix the oven but refused to fix the door because, per contract, the door wasn’t covered. But the door wasn’t broken until your man broke it! They didn’t care and refused to fix it. So I cancelled my service with them. No apology. No “sorry to see you go”. No nothing. A month later they drafted my account again for the monthly payment, and after numerous requests, refuse to refund it. I finally got my bank to reverse the charge claiming fraud. So in the 3 years we had our home warranty with them, we had 3 claims, none of which were “repaired”. We paid service fees on all 3, yet had to pay additional monies to have third-party installers install the bottom-of-the-line replacements they paid for on 2 of the claims, and are left with an oven that doesn’t work, with a broken door their repairmen broke but refuse to fix, on the third.
My home warranty company AHW recommended Leslie ** with Dominion Comfort Solutions LLC to inspect my heat pump. Mr. ** ignited fear and questioned my faith. He told me that there was an electrical fire in my crawl space which caused my heat pump to stop working. I am in no way knowledgeable of heat pumps and electrical fires therefore I believed him and trusted that my home warranty company Amazon Home Warranty certifies that the companies they send are legitimate.
It appears Dominion is not licensed to work in the state of Virginia. He played on my emotions instilling fear that my home was possibly going to catch fire. He caused damage to my unit forcing me to now have to replace my unit. He called and continued to send text messages asking for money to give to him so that he could get the supplies needed to replace my unit to prevent my pipes from also bursting due to the cold weather. He wanted me to give him my settlement money from my car accident to get my heat pump. Please do not allow him to come to your home and do this to you!!! RUN. And if you are a client of AHW please do not allow this happen to you. They provided no assistance and the money you pay them monthly you can set aside in a savings account to assist you in the event of an emergency.
If I could leave 0 stars I would've because this company does not deserve 1 star. The worst possible warranty company.
1. It does not cover anything. If you think that they would replace your HVAC or any appliance if parts are not available, you are WRONG. In their contract it says that they would give you money equal to the parts and labor to repair and you will not be able to get a new appliance for maybe $400 you will get.
2. They will make you find your own plumber or electrician because they cannot locate the technicians. Or if technician comes to your house to diagnose, he will most likely would not come again because this company does not pay the subs for their work. I was told by Contractor that I have to pay myself because they were not paid for 20 jobs that they finished for this company.
3. Usually, you will be without your dishwasher or washer or leaking plumbing for several months because of the issues above.
4. It was the most expensive Warranty company I ever had -$1200/year with $75 deductible and it is BY FAR the worst one. I signed 3-year contract and it was a bad mistake. First, I thought that it is COVID. But COVID has nothing to do with it....It is the company.
I can go forever talking about the issues. By the way their sales rep on the phone told me that they do not have any limits for coverage like some companies do for appliances - it is because they would not replace any! Do yourself a favor - NEVER use this company. It should go out of business! Companies like this create a bad name for capitalism.
I purchased a Home in October. I was looking for Peace of mind and since I bought a Home and not sure of the condition or durability of the existing appliances I Bought a AHW Policy Oct 30th, 2022. On Sunday Dec 4th, my Microwave broke so I called them and submitted a claim. They called me the next day to tell me that they cancelled my Appt because they determined that my Microwave broke due to a pre-existing condition. (How would they know that, if they never came to assess it).
I was so upset that they already started using bottom of the barrel Warranty Company tactics to not take care of the repair. I cancelled my policy immediately after I spoke they refused to send a Tech to review or Repair the Microwave. I should've researched further to realize that I was not dealing with an honest company. When I called the number listed on the Contract, the number was no longer in service. That was the 1st sign. They kept the inflated monthly fee and denied the claim. They should be checked by the appropriate governing agencies.
They take your money, tell you you have a valid claim and a valid contract but deny the claim (my AC is not working). So much cross-talk, I don’t know what to explain here, but bottom line, they won't fix my AC because of the stupid technician they sent out. I hate being a sucker and you will too. It’s a scam.
I had an AC breakdown. The technician came and said it was the blower motor and gave me the impression the AHW was going to replace it. He never gave me a price estimate. He just went ahead and replaced it. Then after the fact, he told me that AHW was not going to cover it and it would be $300. But before that, he told me that the coils needed cleaning so I said go ahead. Then, after he did the work for which I had to pay everything out of pocket, he did something to the unit so that the thermostat doesn't work. He tried but could not fix it. He said AHW would send someone else. Guess what? They refused to fix it. Please, do not use this warranty program. I predict they will be going out of business soon.
For unknown reasons, I got convinced by the Amazon Home Warranty salesman who convinced me to buy 3 years of home appliance warranty coverage for the fee of $1300. When I started having problem with any of my home appliance then I found out I have lost almost all my money and I was better off without this warranty.
After filing claim and payment of $60 of service charge, the technicians they kept sending for repair were hardly had any knowledge of appliance. They were only interested in getting the service charge, telling me something which was hard to believe, trying to pay them some advance, will not respond after they are gone and sometimes scary kind of people. Not sure where AHW finds them. After service call I had to call AHW again and after few days they may assign another tech. Then they will try to tell me the problem and part is not covered under warranty. One of their manager who called herself problem resolution manager advised me not to call till appliance totally stops working. I can go on and on. In short please dont waste your money with AHW.
Place a claim related to my air condition/heater system. Talked to them several times, finally a guy named Christian told me last week that the parts were approved. Today I received call that the claim was denied. Talk to the Department of Retention and I was offered an extension of 1 month to stay with the company. I requested my money back as this company cannot be trusted. Hate this kind of company. Never, Never buy a policy with this weird company. Trust me they are the worst company ever.
They will tell you their name is Amazon Home Warranty, and if you really press them they will admit they are not owned by Amazon.com; this should have been the first red flag. They sound like a traditional home warranty company, and present themselves as such, but they don't operate like one. They conveniently say that everything is a "pre-existing condition" and will claim "well the appliance takes time to malfunction or breakdown"... yes, that's true of every mechanical device; we pay a service warranty to cover things when they do actually fail. Their customer service is rude, and they are adamant about not issuing refunds. I will be contacting my State's Attorney General and will be disputing the charges with my credit card company. These people are deceptive, dishonest, and from looking at the reviews here on Consumer Affairs, a complete and total sham. Shame on them!
I purchased a home warranty from Amazon Home Warranty. Once I made a claim it was turned down, they did not want to deal with the cost of the repair. Scam of a company. I hope this company is now affiliated with Amazon itself, if so they should be ashamed of themselves. This company does not pride itself on service as Amazon does.
Submitted a claim for an A/C issue on 9/9/2022. Had to call back 3 days later because of no contact. No Service provider in our area so we were told to hire our own and they would reimburse us the fee for coming out then we would have to get preapproval for any repairs. Had a technician come out on the 12th to diagnose the issue. It is a common problem with this unit that the coils spring leaks. Took pictures and a video clip of the coil and the leak detector. Sent to the company. Technician said the coil was in great shape, no corrosion or rust. Finally on the 27th of September I had to call back and was told that because of corrosion and rust that they were denying my claim. This seems to be a pattern with them. Their so called experts see corrosion and rust on the coil. That is ridiculous. I am contacting a lawyer for repayment of costs for repair and service fees.
My experience: We called because our pool motor went out. We filed a claim. AHW was suppose to send a listed contractor in their list to our home. AHW told us they were having no luck finding a pool company to respond. Aqua Plus LLC showed up and announced that AmazonHW called them. We let the young man look at our pool and he said he would file for a new motor. To get our pool running, he replaced the capacitor, which worked.. It was at this time I was informed AHW would only pay $500 on this or any claim. The quote to fix the pool with the new motor was $1295.10! I paid the trip fee to Aqua Plus, which I forgot was suppose to be free for the first claim per my contract (Raven in retention set that up). When I asked Amazon to reimburse me once processed, they said no. I could have free trip charge should I file another claim!!! Hopefully I would never file another claim. That was a cheesy answer.
We also found out that Aqua Plus out of Whitehouse TX was not a contractor for AHW!!!! So why did they show up? So now Aqua Plus wants $125 fee and $54 for the capacitor. I found out I could buy the Capacitor from a pool dealer local for $34. Well I told the contractor To keep the check I already gave them for $60 trip charge and we would pay the $54 charge for the capacitor. I suggested they go back to AHW for the the additional $65. They threatened to sue us if AHW doesn't reimburse the $65. We never called Aqua Plus to come out to begin with! They should not have come to our house. Robin at Aqua Plus had no compassion for the situation and got very aggressive and rude and repeatedly threatened to sue us. I tried to reason with her but was unsuccessful.
I cancelled the remainder of the policy and was charged 10% of my policy cost! I read, since, on the internet that charge should have been $30 to cancel. BEWARE that AHW only pays $500 per claim. There are other companies out there that pay $3,000 to $6,000 cap per claim or if you pay a hefty premium no cap. Do your research!!! Good Luck.
I can say, without any reservation, out of every company I've dealt with in my lifetime, I've had the worst experience with AHW. CS reps are unresponsive, give conflicting information, don't call back when promised but will call with unnecessary information without reading customer notes. For example, I was told on 8/5 by Julie that I would get a call from a supervisor - no supervisor ever called. I was called on 8/8 by Louisa to ask when I would like to set up a tech visit; the tech had already been and gone by that point. I was called on 8/9 by Nishad to tell me that my claim was not covered, but he was looking at the wrong claim - it was from last year. He told me after he put me on a long hold. Throughout this time, my AC is broken and my house is 90F - AHW representatives waste days and obviously not progressing my claim. Finally, after weeks of back and forth, I am told that my claim is not covered because the compressor was subject to 'short to ground'.
The HVAC company that came out to try and fix the unit told me that electrical components often fail this way which is why, I presume, AHW added it to the contract so that they don't have to pay anything. In short, AWH have made me spend additional days in a 90F house while they miscommunicate and mishandle the information, only to be told that they have excluded a common fault in the contract. After a month of back and forth, I am left with a $6000 replacement cost that AHW have managed to wriggle out of. Absolutely, atrocious - PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY!
I filed a claim to have my ceiling fan fixed. I was informed that they had no one to service a ceiling fan in my area. They suggested I could find someone of my own choosing, then have the contractor to write up a proposal to get it repaired/replaced and they would reimburse me. Why should I do the work for them???? I immediately cancelled my contract with them and then they charged me a $30 cancellation fee for a service. They were supposed to cover and could not provide. WHAT A SCAM!
This is a scam company. They should be out of business by this time. They rip off the innocent people by selling their policy and not covering anything. And on top of that they throw too many excuses and are just a waste of money and time. Also they sell the policy they claim that they are affiliated with **. Be aware before buying services like this. My fridge was covered by the policy, but now they're claiming that it is a maintenance issue they don't cover. They didn't even have the technician to send over.
First of all, AHW are nothing but liars. When I took out the warranty they told me they were affiliated with the actual Amazon we are all familiar with. They are NOT! They never send a repair technician. They tell me they cannot find anyone so they offer to reimburse me. The problem is they never reimburse me. They currently owe me for over $3000 over the past 2 years. I had to resort to suing them and they failed to respond to the court, so now I need to contact the licensing dept in the state to have their certificate pulled as they refuse to do anything and refuse to respond to the court.
Myrtle Beach, SC! A Friday night in May at 9 p.m. I called to report my AC went out. I was given a contract number. I called back on Saturday and Sunday and got a recording..closed, open Monday. I called on a Monday and was told verbally to replace it and fill out pre-authorization form and submit with photos. The contractor did that and emailed form and photos of old unit. Several weeks passed and I called to ask why I had not gotten my payment. I was told they had not been uploaded in system. “Please send again!” Sent again, same response..did not get them!
I was asked to send again. This time I went to FED EX and emailed photos and form again. Month gone by, called and was told they needed a picture of the coil. Really? I have a letter apologizing in the delay and now you want a picture of the coil? “After two months, you think I still have it setting in the yard? I have asked and given two responses of Corporate Office. One in Columbus, Ohio, and then told New Jersey. My thought is AHW is a legal scam company. Attorney is going over contract and all correspondence I have had with AHW today, 8/22/2022.
AHW (https://ahwp.com/) Amazon Home Warranty is worth the company to buy your home warranty. They are a total waste of your time and money. My microwave broke 3 weeks ago and they assigned a technician 4 days after placing the claim. When the technical come he diagnosed that the "Magnitorn" of my microwave was damaged. But the AHW did not believe it and sent another technician who said the same. Now Amazon called me back and say this issue is not covered by their policy and they cannot show me and documentation. Save yourself the headache and go with another provider.
This service is horrible. I paid more than $1400 for a 3 year plan. I placed a request for my refrigerator and a bathroom exhaust fan. both of which fell into disrepair on the same day. A technician promptly responded, collected my money and has now disappeared. AHW contacted me today to advise me of this 8/18/2022. My repair request was made 7/22/2022. Now, AHW is reporting that they have no technicians available in my area....Dundalk ,Md....where Amazon has a major facility, where the National Anthem was written....etc. This service is a huge disappointment. I requested a refund and they are giving me a partial refund. I plan to file a complaint with my State Attorney General, BBB, and I have identified the technician and filed a criminal complaint for theft through service.
Amazon Home Warranty is a total waste of your time and money. To start they have very limited hours. Can’t file a claim on the weekend or after 5pm. Customer service is lacking in every aspect of customer service. Takes days from filing a claim to getting a contractor assigned. Then days to get approval. Then to find out they don’t cover most things. Waited days to find out my issue was covered. Save yourself the headache and go with another provider. You will thank me.
I spent most of the day trying to reach someone for service. No one ever answered the phone. I eventually tried to call and cancel my contract because of not being able to speak with anyone and once again left on hold for more than an hour.
I will never use AHW again. Every time I call to open a claim, there are "surprises." I live in a rural area and it is difficult for Home Warranty companies to get contractors to come out in this area so I asked BEFORE I purchased AHW what the process entailed and they said just get preapproval and then call your own contractor. They NEVER mentioned that there would be a reduction in the reimbursement even after they spoke with the contractor and he quoted them the cost of the repairs. I also specifically asked for septic coverage when I spoke with the sales rep and he did not include septic coverage on my contract.
On our refrigerator condenser failed. They would not cover that because the refrigerant had escaped. Now the dishwasher failed and they will only pay for the part no labor or service call fee it is a 1000 dishwasher yet they will give 245 to replace. We have had the warranty it for 3 years they are just getting worse. Canceling our service or lack thereof.
Read your contract carefully!! Any rust voids coverage of water heater and AC unit (which is outside and will get rust). This is not a good choice for a home warranty. They say they pay 100% for R22 freon replacement. I bet they won't because if you still have R22, I bet you have some rust on your unit. Stay away!! I got denied on 2 claims totalling almost $3,500 on my water heater and AC unit. They say "We got you covered"... Don't believe it.
I called the company to fix my AC as it stopped working in this hot weather on June. I called several times, wastes my time every time like 45 mins each and they did not assign me any contractors. They told me to go get my own contractor and when my contractor came up with the quote, they said they can’t cover almost after one month of waiting. Nothing covered and they did not return my money. They wasted my time and no coverage. They are basically a scam so please go with HSA home warranty. They are far better as I heard many comments. I recommend no one to get this warranty. Thanks.
I was sold a 3 year policy, and the funds were asked for upfront to supposedly in getting a discounted policy. They told me the were a subsidiary of AMAZON.COM. I found much later they are not. I had several claims and they always told me, “Repair is not covered”. This was their favorite response. You always spoke with some Filipino rep who didn’t speak English very well, and knew nothing. If you were lucky to get them to send a tech; they were some rag tag outfit with no license. By the way, AHW was not responsible for the repairs or damages tech may cause. Look for another reputable home warranty company, but not this one. You’ve warned….
Before investing in a home warranty plan, be absolutely certain of what you are getting, read the fine print, and know what is involved when needing to file a claim. We had an "oh by the way' moment during the closing of our new home (March 2022) when we were informed that a home warranty plan was included. We never asked for one, nor was it first discussed with us. But it would cover all existing appliances and central heating system. Having never purchased a home warranty plan before, we had no clue what it was nor what to expect. The company in question here is AHWP Warranty.
The appliances and central heating were all original, with exception of the refrigerator. The first issue we had with AHWP was when we called an appliance repair company to come and look at the range cooktop. The front two burners would not ignite. The repair company told us that parts were hard to get. So, we called AHWP to discuss this with them. They us told that the warranty would not cover the appliance because the warranty does not take effect until 30 days after closing. Then AWHP had the hutzpah of accusing us of fraud in submitting a claim before the 30-day period. Angry is a mild word for how we felt.
Now how about this one. Our central heating system started making horrible noises, so I called in a HVAC company to access the problem. They gave me a quote and I submitted it to AHWP. AHWP said that because we did not follow proper procedures in filing a claim, the warranty would not cover repairs. I went totally ballistic over the phone. After several go-arounds, AHWP asked me to send them photos of the tag on the system as well as when the system was last serviced. Now, keep in mind we just purchased this home in March of this year, 2022. AHWP reached to the HVAC service repair company, but they (HVAC) refused to work directly with them. And, because the system was last serviced in 2019 (by the previous homeowner), AHWP would not cover the system repair under the warranty.
When I explained to them that we just purchased this home, I was told that a correction would be made in our file, but even with the correction noted the warranty still would not cover the heating system repair. Here's how stupidly frustrating this company is. We first needed to call AHWP to file a claim, then they call a service provider in our area, the service provider would then call us to schedule a service call, then the service provider would contact AHWP with a repair quote, then AHWP would approve and decline the repair, if they approved the claim, they would authorize the company to repair the appliance. But wait, let's make things even more frustrating when the service provider(s) refuse to work directly with warranty companies. We would have to get the work done, pay the service company, then submit the invoice to AHWP for reimbursement. This was the case with three different appliance repair companies. They refuse to work directly with home warranty companies.
Now the dominos start falling, appliance wise. Next to go was the refrigerator, which by the way was manufactured in 2017. Thank god it's still under warranty with LG. The freezer quit on us, and thus we had to throw everything away. Next, the refrigerator section started failing. Now did we call AHWP to submit a claim? Yes we did. But after 3 days of not hearing from them, we decided to call in a service provider and eat the cost - pun intended. Please, please, please, whatever you do be certain of what you are getting into if you decide to purchase a home warranty plan. And DO NOT purchase one through AHWP. I called AHWP to demand a full refund, of the contract, in the amount of $500, but was told that a refund was not possible since it was paid in escrow. We will be taking this up with our realtor and escrow agent.
I was looking for insurance. They sold me 3 years insurance. Paid upfront. I just called twice for service in two years. Fixed my AC. Said, "No, we can’t cover next time." I called plumbing issue. Said, "No we can’t." I said, "Can speak to supervisor?" They, "I am the supervisor." I said, "Please cancel my service." They, "Ok." I asked for my remaining balance. They said no. I am hard working guy work seven days with big family. They stole my money. Please fix. Stay away from those con people. They would take your money. Won’t do nothing. I'll go to small courts and will go to state attorney office. They will see me there. So please stay away from them.
The only reason I gave them a 1 is because there is not a zero. Worst company in the world to deal with. No customer service or claims service. All you get is a run around. Complete waste of money. If you use their service you deserve what you get. Tried to get oven fixed. They told me they had no one to fix it. Tried to get an ac unit repaired, again they said they have no one who can fix it. Continued to take my monthly premiums. Tried to cancel the policy and so far 45 minutes on hold.
I am still waiting for a call from AHW about my hot water heater. Service provider came to my home and stated he ordered a part. I have called the company several time. The provider placed the blame on the company.
