Our mortgage was sold to Truist, and absolutely no notice was given regarding setting up a payment. We didn't realize the sale had happened until our insurance wasn't paid. Once I discovered it, I set up an online portal and took care of that -- it didn't show anywhere that the autopayments hadn't transferred over or that we had a balance. No calls, no emails (even once registered), no mail saying we were past due. Finally, we found out through trying to get another mortgage that we had a NINETY day late payment and our credit score was hit by 200 points. Submitted a dispute and Truist has been absolutely unwilling to help or change the reporting to the credit in any way. We've been waiting over 6 weeks for a manager call back.

They paid my taxes with an empty escrow account (because we don’t escrow taxes or mortgage insurance) causing me to have to pay an extra fee due to their incompetence. Messed up our natural disaster forbearance plan adding an extra $3000 to the repayment, luckily I caught it before signing. Then reported missed payment to my credit even though we were on the agreed upon disaster plan (home damaged badly in hurricane) and we upheld all commitments on our end.

Dealing with Truist is a nightmare. In the past year, I have undoubtedly spent greater than 50 collective hours on the phone accomplishing little in one case, and nothing in another. I have 2 houses, one of which has a mortgage by Truist, the other was once a collateral for a loan on the first (released from collateral 10 years ago). When I was selling the second house there was still a record lien due to it being used as collateral. I found this out at closing! Truist could admit that there was no money owed and that it was released in 2016, but could not give me such documentation, as apparently none existed. Yet, I needed something to take to the courthouse.
I called, visited branches, and emailed relentlessly from early August until late October to get the darned piece of paper. Every time I called, I had to start to over as though it were the first time. Supervisors never called me back as promised, and when the document was finally released, no one informed me or sent a letter, so the document I needed was at the courthouse while I was home waiting for it because I was told it would be mailed to me. Current nightmare. Finalized the closing in October with all of the monies and contracts signed and retro payments for August, however Truist is taking tax escrow for the house that I sold in August.
I have called over and over and they literally have twice denied my request to remove the escrow. 1. The house is sold! 2. Truist has no interest in this property- it didn't have a mortgage. Not only do they refuse to stop the escrow that is coming out with the mortgage for the first property, but they just used my money to pay bi-annual taxes for a house that someone else owns!!!! I have sent closing documents 3 times! I want my money back with interest.

Don’t go with Truist bank for any kind of loan. They are terrible, they just waste your time, don’t even give to any update. Whenever I call them for any update they have one answer(we don’t know yet) and most the time they don’t even answer the phone. Communication inside their staff is also terrible. I was so frustrated not getting any kind of response from them. If you value your time and don’t want to get frustrated avoid Truist bank.

Terrible mortgage lender. Customer service is non-existent, use overseas customer service representatives that hardly can communicate. Truist purchased our mortgage and since that transaction we don't receive our monthly statements. Hate this mortgage lender.

I've been with Truist for over 31 years (way before it was Truist). This by far the worst bank I have ever done business with. If zero stars was an option that's what they deserve. I have personal accounts and 2 business accounts with them. I am on the phone with them every month because they screwed something up. Time to find a new bank for me. Don't give them any of your money!

Horrible mortgage company. My loan was sold to them without my consent, which happens I realize. I had to call multiple times us to get my first bill and then they failed to send the payment for my homeowners insurance out of the escrow account and my insurance company dropped me. Truist did nothing to fix or make up for this error other than a saying "Sorry." Terrible company.

I would leave less than a one star review if it were possible. My father just recent passed, we have filled out every survivor document requested and once they take 30 days to review they push the field goal every time or magically lose the documents you submitted. All we are trying to figure out is small info on the mortgage and to also put it in my mom's name. If you care about your sanity or the sanity of your family in unfortunate events like this, stay away. They will waste your time. I'm currently seeking legal counsel for their carelessness and negligence and untold stress and hardships they have created.

I am so disappointed with this company. I experienced a significant event that caused my insurance payment to be lost in the mail. I was then penalized for non pay of the insurance, the mortgage company then charged me for insurance, even though it was their responsibility to pay the insurance, and did not work with me at all to help maintain the policy. It was canceled. I was unable to renew it. I was forced to pay for a lapse in insurance. All because of the batch payment they "mailed" to St. Petersburg Florida when a hurricane was hitting, I purchase another policy on my own and then was hit with a by the way, we are going to buy a policy for you for the 2 weeks where we were unable to help you keep your other insurance.
If I could get another mortgage company to buy this mortgage from Truist I would. They are horrible to deal with. I have made many attempts, sent emails with the subject line ATTN CEO/President and apparently, they do not care about their customers. I spent hours on this. I have asked for review twice. Trusts respond with a, we are not at fault. Their fault is that they did not offer to send another check, only that they could not stop payment on the lost check for 30 days. By that time, my insurance company cancelled my policy. I have asked for someone with some authority to contact me and although what was supposed to be a supervisor did after the 3rd request contact me, again, "we" are not responsible for Mother Nature nor are we at fault.
I am retired and on Social Security and they just charged my Escrow Account over $400 for 15 days of Homeowners Insurance. So don't believe the auto answering message that says if you have been impacted by the recent hurricanes please let us know. I let them know over and over again and they simply do not care. I cannot purchase backdated insurance. How can they? I was still dealing with them during the time period between 10/4 and 10/25 with multiple calls. They could have issued another check but refused to do so. They only want to "catch" you in something so they can charge you for it. And I really loved hearing the dogs in the background and the crying baby when I spoke to customer service. It's no wonder they couldn't find a supervisor, there wasn't one at their home they were working out of. Horrible customer service!

My mortgage was bought by SunTrust, who transformed into Truist. Every experience has been TERRIBLE, PAINFUL and TIME CONSUMING. One of my first requests was to have my PMI insurance removed. They required I pay to have an appraisal done to verify that I paid 20% of my home's value. I paid, appraisal was done and showed more than half the value of my house was paid. It took 2 months after the appraisal was verified in their offices to have the PMI removed. No refund given, no explanation of why it took that long.
Now, I have asked to have my escrow account removed. Each year I have received a check at the end of the year because my escrow account has too much money (that I could be earning interest on). Sometimes hundreds of dollars, other years few dollars. It was ‘approved’ for removal. Instead of removing it, they ‘re-evaluated’ the escrow and increase the payment. Now mind you my annual review isn’t due till Aug, this is March. I called and no one can explain why that happened, but assure me that the escrow account is still approved for removal. That it is ‘in process’, and will be resolved next Monday. I knew I wanted to have the escrow account at a low amount when closing it, because who know how long it will take to get a refund. No one can ever explain why these things are happening.
If interest rates were lower I would refinance my loan with a different bank…but my luck it would still get bought by Truist. I am paying my house off as fast as possible so I don’t have to deal with them. If you have a choice, use a different lending institution. They are terrible. Customer service people are friendly, but do not understand their own processes and can’t explain why things are happening.

I called for a simple request and asked for the loan info to be emailed to me as I have no paperwork on it at all. The incompetent customer service reps are clueless and poorly trained if at all. I have called several times and talked to several reps and they are all clueless. I gave my social security, email, full name, birth date, address, etc. They said because I do not know the phone number my ex-wife has now they can't verify who I am. I said all I want is a simple email to be able to look at the loan payments etc. They put you on hold and transfer and nobody can do a simple task. One woman said she would put n a request for an email to be sent and that never came. How am I on a loan but these idiots can not send me an email of the loan info that I never got in any mail even??? Unreal! Stay away from this garbage company.

Changed mortgage insurance company in beginning of August. Payment due beginning of Sept. Received letter from insurance company that they haven't received payment mid Oct. First call to Truist, they say they sent payment electronically on the 24th. Called Insurance and they state they never received it. Called back to Truist, and they state they MAILED it out 24th of Oct. and since the insurance company has a 90 day policy, I am still good. SO Truist collected interest on my money while and made late payment. Insurance company stated they will still honor payment if received in the 90 days. Shady transactions and questionable customer service. IT was MUCH BETTER as Suntrust. This was the first payment since Bank of America purchased them.

Our mortgage loan was bought by Truist last year and the transfer seemed to have happened seamlessly until the renewal of property insurance. The property insurance should have been paid by Truist from the escrow (there is sufficient funds in the escrow), however, Truist failed to pay the property insurance. I got a letter from Truist indicating that I failed to renew my insurance. Truist didn't set up the payment when the loan was acquired by them. I recognize that there are several reasons for this but it is unacceptable to send letters like it is the customer's fault. Truist doesn't seem to know how to take care of customer. I wonder if they will set up the property tax payment.

Frustrating Experience: Truist Mortgage's Inconsistent Customer Service. I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Truist Mortgage's customer service, and I must say, it was nothing short of a nightmare. From start to finish, their representatives displayed a shocking lack of knowledge and consistency, leaving me feeling incredibly frustrated and disappointed.
One of the most aggravating aspects of my interactions with Truist Mortgage's customer service was the constant changes in the information provided. Each time I called, I was given conflicting details and contradictory advice, which only added to the confusion and prolonged my issue. It was as if I was dealing with different companies every time, with no clear standard or procedure in place.
Furthermore, the representatives seemed clueless about how to handle a loyal customer. Despite my repeated attempts to explain my situation, they showed little understanding or empathy. It was evident that they lacked the necessary training and knowledge to address my concerns effectively. Instead of providing solutions or offering alternatives, they seemed more interested in rushing through the conversation and moving on to the next caller.
In addition to their incompetence, Truist Mortgage's customer service failed to prioritize problem resolution or provide timely updates. I was left in the dark for extended periods, waiting anxiously for any progress or response. This lack of communication only exacerbated the frustration I felt, as I had to constantly chase them for updates, wasting my valuable time and energy.
As a customer, I expect a certain level of professionalism and competence from any company's customer service department, especially when it involves something as important as a mortgage. Unfortunately, Truist Mortgage fell far short of meeting these basic expectations. Their representatives seemed ill-prepared to handle customer inquiries, and their inability to provide consistent information or take ownership of issues only added to my mounting dissatisfaction.
In conclusion, my experience with Truist Mortgage's customer service was incredibly disappointing. Their inconsistent information, lack of knowledge, and failure to take care of a valuable customer left me feeling frustrated and let down. I cannot, in good faith, recommend Truist Mortgage to anyone seeking reliable and efficient customer service.

Truist bank was a mortgagor in my sale transaction. Their hired appraise made an error of $25,000 that bank refused to correct even though my second corrected appraisal reflected $30k huger value. Their regional VP in Florida Steve Fisher gave it no consideration and Greg Noble ignored their gross misstatement. My family was damaged $25k in that sale due to their actions. Very unethical and unprofessional company. Be aware!

Truist added a bad check fee to my mortgage the first day after they acquired my loan from another bank. I had no contacts with them until after I was informed of the loan moving. How could I have possibly written them a bad check before they ever sent me a bill. This is just an overbilling scam that shady institutions perpetrate on unwitting customers. Then they make it impossible to deal with their customer service to get anything corrected. I give up. I will just be paying the unfair fee, because it’s easier than calling back again. It’s easier than dealing with their automated responses. They don’t have any option to fill in a form or email to make contact. You have to call, and they make that as unpleasant as possible.

My mortgage was transferred from Suntrust to Truist and it's been the worst experience I've ever had in dealing with banks. I arranged for bi-weekly payments for my mortgage and instead of only taking half of the mortgage every two weeks they've been taking the whole mortgage every two weeks. I've called them numerous times to get it fixed but the people I get on the line are no help whatsoever. It's truly ridiculous and maddening.

We did a VA refinance thru Suntrust in 2021 only because a lot of banks do not have VA refinance loans. It took 6 months to complete when I was told 60 days at the start. Absolutely HORRENDOUS/non-existent customer service. 6+ months of routine calls attempting to get answers to important questions regarding my mortgage, my forbearance status, etc. Dead-end phone options that state "this is no longer a working number" and automatically end the call, completely non-existent Home Preservation "Specialist" that does not return calls or answer emails - might as well be a ghost. Of all the things for which to provide terrible, atrocious customer service... a MORTGAGE should not be one of them. I will avoid SunTrust/Truist for the rest of my life.

Of all the banks that I have ever dealt with, this bank has the WORST customer service ever. Their wait times are 1-2 hours long, they operate on EST, which for someone in CA is pointless, and their customer service agents hang up on customers. They bought over 17,000 new mortgages and then sent out threatening letters and emails saying that we were delinquent in our accounts and threatening to send us to collections in violation of state and federal laws! They weren't even sorry about that and just said that the letter went out "in mistake"!
This company should be investigated and punished for that gross violation and abuse of customers. When I asked them to sell off my mortgage and transfer it to another bank they laughed and said that they wouldn't do that because I have great credit and that they didn't want to do that. This is by far my worst experience with a bank, especially with a mortgage by far. Do NOT do business with this bank and pray that they never buy your mortgage.

I listed my home in Washington, DC for sale the same month the first case of Covid was diagnosed in the US. Secondary, to DC restrictions on activity my condo was not able to be shown, no open houses were allowed and a massive exodus started from the city center. After approximately, 8 months, I opted in to the forbearance while I waited for a buyer.
The house went under contract and the payoff amount they provided was over $45000 more than the payoff shown on the Suntrust website. It increased by not only the forbearance amount BUT they have me no credit for the forbearance funds that were paid on my behalf. The closing was held up for 4 days with the required loan payoff changing and no one at the bank able to resolve the issue. I was forced to pay the loan amount, plus over $45000 which I paid to close even though none of the payments made while in forbearance were ever credited to the amount Suntrust required for payoff.
The payoff could not be reconciled by the bank; they provided varying numbers and had both myself and the law office on hold in excess of 6 hours on 3 days. It was no different than them holding a gun to my head and taking my money. I have had 4 mortgages over my life with SunTrust and always had a positive experience until June of this year. Beware. The banks were got bailed out by the taxpayer for no problem robbing the US consumer and seem to have oversight or punishment that would land a private citizen in jail.
