TD Bank has hands‑down delivered the most chaotic, misleading, and flat‑out incompetent customer service experience I’ve ever had with any financial institution. I called about a simple $14 fees and somehow ended up getting three different answers from three different reps, none of which matched or made any sense. Rep #1 told me the fee was non‑negotiable because the account requirements changed, and now I would need to keep $250 daily to avoid fees. Rep #2 told me something completely different that opening a savings account and linking it would magically fix the problem. Rep #3 told me neither of those were true nor that because I receive two direct deposits over $5,000 biweekly, I should never have been charged fees to begin with.
How can one bank customer service have representatives reading three different scripts for the same issue? It’s unbelievable. No consistency. No accuracy. No accountability. Every call felt like talking to a robot with zero empathy or real understanding, exactly the opposite of the “human” experience TD Bank loves to advertise.
This was the final straw. If a bank can’t even explain its own fees correctly, how can anyone trust it with their money? I closed all my 2 business accounts, checking and working to transfer my HELOC $400K and moved to a smaller community bank where I’m treated like a person, not an inconvenience. TD Bank needs serious Customer service training, and people understand finance, serious oversight, and honestly, a complete overhaul of the way they communicate with customers. If you value!!!

TD Bank is the worst experience I ever had. First time open up an account with them. My former employer did not send my direct deposit for 15 days.. Due to my employer made a mistake my employer fix my paper checks. Yesterday I check my TD account to let them know I will be getting my direct deposit on Thursday night. I try to log on the app which I had problems.
I call TD Bank and spoke to representative which she was very rude. She told me my account due to negative balance I explained no one send me an email or call me to notify me my account was close. Very unprofessional.: TD Bank to upon themselves to close my account and did not notify me. Now my paycheck has to go back to my employer and now I have to wait for check in the mail and open up a new account with another bank which I am afraid to do so.: Now I see why people go postal.: I have to paid rent, other bills like electricity, gas, food, food, WiFi, car fare. TD Bank IS NOT PROFESSIONAL AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THAT BANK.

Do not use TD Bank if you're looking for a bank you can trust. It's taken over 3 weeks to get a new debit card and after the customer service rep suggested they could possibly expedite me a new one, the supervisor basically said "Nope, not our problem." On top of that, there's a service charge, but for what... they don't even provide good service. Super slow responses to chat times and just overall, a huge pain!!

They say they notarize for customers. This is not true. I married an immigrant whose marriage green card is expiring in May. When he arrived in the US, he too opened a TD Bank account. I have been with them for at least 10 years. We now have to submit form I-751 with evidence that we are married. One item required is two letters confirming the validity of the marriage. I have a couple friends who were kind enough to write these letters. I just needed their signature notarized.
Even though the letters were for two of their customers, Gina ** refused to notarized them. I tried to call the 800 number to complain, but hung up after being on hold for 37 minutes. This was the bad news. The good news is that we went into ION bank and they notarized them even though we are not customers. The person was so nice, that I think it will be worth the headache to change banks with the outstanding service we received. I can't even say customer service because we're not even customers yet.

I am a customer for at least 5 years. Their security is a joke. Somebody used my debit card to make a purchase at Publix for $250. I start a claim, and after 2 - 3 days, they denied it. I am sure they did not investigate anything. It is a shame that they prefer the thieves over their customers. I will close my account as soon as possible. This will not happen again.

I submitted a balance transfer a couple weeks ago, and have had to make my first monthly payment on it before the transfer is even complete. After I was approved for the balance transfer, they said it'll take 10-14 business days for it to process AFTER activating the card. I activated it on 12/19/25, and it's now 1/17/26 (more business days than they said it'd take). That's crazy, but ok, whatever. Then I got my first bill that my payment was due, and it still has yet to be completed! Despite not being complete, my balance still shows that it is! So I've prepaid for a service that isn't even completed AFTER the time frame they quoted.

Beyond horrible honestly.. I have been a TD client for 16 years and has just gotten worse and worse. Don’t bother calling the help line for anything, they won’t help AT ALL and if anything with be rude and condescending towards you for even asking for help/resolution. It’s sickening how they treat people honestly.

This bank recently closed a multiple person joint account of a friend's, her sister and I and we believe other customers accounts were closed also. There was no reason given so we were left to wonder if they were following HSBC'S path of kicking lower monetary clients to the curb to pursue wealthier clientele. I don't bank with them aside from that account but was thinking of it for the future as I had once seen them touted as one of the friendliest and best banks for seniors. We had somewhat recently set up the account to assist my friend for personal reasons. They also let my friend's sister keep her savings account with them, but if I were her I would move on from them asap. Thinking of a credit union now for the future as most if not all of these banks always reveal their ugly underbelly.

This Bank in my opinion is a predatory lender. If you have a home or a business do not do business with this bank. This bank charges excessive fees. This bank departments do not communicate with each other. This Bank will increase your stress level to an unknown level when it comes to your personal property. I beg of you, my fellow Americans if you want to keep your property do not do business with this bank. The representatives unfortunately, are not well trained when you call and speak to a representative. You will be given one guy to follow and when you speak to another representative on another phone call, you will be given another set of instructions that go contradictory to what you heard from the other representative.
Then to top it all off if there’s a banking error, that is approving bank error then you will be held accountable as a customer although you did not cause the error. I’ll give you one example. I regret a home equity loan with this bank. I had that (Home) equity Loan refinance. After thought I was injured during the home during the hurricane. Well, let me tell you the underwriting department sent me a loan modification contract and I was supposed to sign and I was supposed to get this contract notarized at the bank and also a representative under underwriting department was also supposed to sign. I believe that it’s a total of three signatures however when I was sent the loan modification papers, there was only two lines on there and allowance for two signatures. Well, I proceeded to take the loan modification to the bank to get it notarized, as I was instructed to do the TD bank representative notarize the loan modification agreement.
I sent it back off by the deadline that the bank had given. When they receive the loan modification that I had signed and got notarized at a TD Bank by a TD Bank employee the underwriting department rejected it stating that the TD Bank employee had signed on the wrong line. Now here’s the big kicker. The loan modification agreement only had two lines to be signed. If three people were supposed to sign the loan modification then why would the underwriting department only have two lines available to sign at the end of the loan modification.
To make a long story short, the underwriting department told me we are going to reject the loan modification because our employee wasn’t supposed to sign where he signed so we’re gonna make you the customer do it all over again and charge you a whole bunch of fees all over again because our employee a TD Bank employee signed on the wrong line and signed in an area that he was not supposed to so. So even though I went to the TD Bank and went to Gardens Florida off of colonial, I followed the instructions of the TD Bank helpline department. So I was told on the phone by a representative. You will have to do the loan modification assistance for help application all over again because a TD Bank employee signed on the wrong line so hey, screw you as the customer, we’re gonna make you do it all over again because we messed up and we messed up bad so we’re just gonna take it out on you.
Oh, did I mention since we’re gonna take it out on you? We’re gonna make you pay a whole bunch of fees all over again. My fellow Americans this bank is dangerous. It is dangerous to your well-being. It is dangerous to your financial health, it is dangerous to an American economy. I will warn every single American in this country. I know that there are other Americans out there that have been possibly scammed by this bank, abused by this bank, disrespected by this bank and enough is enough enough for Christ sake. Enough is enough of the foolishness from TD Bank.
I would encourage you to contact your senators, your legislative members if you have had any problems with this bank and asked them to do an investigation because there are probably other people that are going through this same situation. Where a bank will make a mistake and try and make the customer pay for that mistake. I cannot tell you I’ve had to increase my blood pressure medication the sleepless night I’ve had all deal dealing with the foolishness of this bank. This, my friends, my fellow Americans if you want to keep your sanity, if you want to keep your property, if you want to keep your American dream do not deal with this Canadian bank.
This is a dangerous dangerous bank. You have been warned. Now if you choose to do business with this bank and you lose your property and your charge excessive fees and your stress level goes through the roof please don’t take it out on the employees because they’re only following orders from those who are above them or maybe they aren’t. I don’t know. Maybe this is a scheme that they tell their employees to do certain things to the customers so they can increase the revenues. How disgusting is this in a time like we live in now.
I know one thing for sure. If you are an American don’t do business with this Canadian bank because they do not care about you. They do not care about your property. They do not care about your well-being if you sign those papers and you take a loan out with this bank, you are literally signing your property away because they have some tricks up their sleeve and it will absolutely lead to the demise of your American dream. Please be careful. There are other banks to deal with. You have Bank of America, you have Chase bank? I would suggest using any other bank but this Bank. Please be careful for Christ sake.

TD Bank is the worst. We originally started our accounts at Commerce Bank over 25 years ago, and customer service declined after they were gobbled up by TD Bank. Recently, TD Bank gave us 3 weeks' notice that they were closing our accounts and they have refused to give any reason for the closure. Unless you want to spend hours of your time opening new accounts and arranging new automatic withdrawal and deposit information, avoid them.

TD should teach some manners and customer service skills to their employees especially to rude managers who should not be in that position in the first place. It's none of their business to ask customer why s/he wants to withdraw a couple of thousand dollars from their account and if customer shows his/her displeasure, telling them that they could refuse transaction. Some guts! Want to take your money but can refuse withdrawal. Stay away from customer service representative name Harpreet and manager name Dawn.

I was happy. 2 days later I try using my card is blocked. I call td customer service, they said I need to get a new card in order to stop the fraud. 3 days later I get a new card. 4 days later today I check my account and the fraud payment went thru every I had a new card. I call c.s. Again. I spoke with an agent, she ask if I wanted to ask for the money back so she said I could do it online or she could do it for me but it would take 30 min. I said I will wait no problem.
47min after she just hang up. I call back upset, ask the other customer service if the refute was done, she said she could couldn't get in to my file but apparently she never finished because there were no notes she said. I got upset and ask someone, now what she said go get a new card. I said, "Why? Obviously your back is compromised. Otherwise how did they get the new card? I just need to know if you guys can call me back, if you finished the paperwork." she said, "Yes she didn't blocked your card." I said of course not why would she. "Because they will charge your card again," she said. I said this was a new card and they still charge it again, she hang up. Aparerently customer service don't know what they are doing. TD destroyed my impeccable credit. I have been an incredible customer of theirs for probably 15 years. TD manages to send me 5 letters a week asking me to take out massive lines of credit but somehow managed to go silent when my Bill Pay mysteriously stopped paying my TD CC 2 times a month. My bad for trusting the system I've been using for years was efficient.
When I called them after I brought my CC payments up to date then paid most of it off I received a notification from AMEX that TD closed the account. TD never sent me an email, letter or even a courtesy call there was an issue. They had no problem shutting my account down and sending me to collections for missing 3 months of $35 min per month payments. I was paying a lot more than that was a few months from paying it off. Well, they sure did a number on my credit and then customer service was completely useless and began yelling at me because I was furious. When I say run, I mean sprint away from this company. Go with Chase United or Capital One of you want a good CC that actually values your business.

I refinanced my mortgage with TD Bank several years ago. Never had a problem until about June 2025, and now every month they have screwed up my loan payments. They've misapplied the loan payments each time and disregarded the secured messages with the instructions on where to apply. I've incurred late fees because of their error and it takes a long time and multiple attempts to resolve. It also could have jeopardized my real estate tax payment because of these screw ups.
The branches can't help you, and all customer service can do is send secure messages, which I can do on my own. One time I called customer service, she actually had the gall to imply that the first misapplied loan payment was my fault because I didn't catch it earlier. It was 1 month when I went to make the next payment when I caught it. I had to remind her that this was TD BANK's error, not mine. She also refused to escalate the issue saying it takes 4-5 days to resolve. Yes, but they don't fix it correctly the first time and it takes multiple attempts after that, and with each attempt, it's another 4-5 days you have to wait, only to see them screw it up again. Something has changed in the last several months and their service has gotten horrendous.
Their loan payment system is antiquated. You can't specify when making a loan payment how to apply the funds whether to additional principal or escrow. Customer service also lies. They told me that they can't make tax documents, etc available online because it's illegal. What nonsense! I have 2 other banks who managed my mortgage and they always provided the documents online and doubt they were breaking any laws. No one in TD Bank, including the CEO and management, seems to care. If they can't handle a simple loan payment, why should I trust them with any of my $. I'm closing my other accounts with them.

I'm actually amazed! I mean what is the mathematical possibility of a company (TD) having over 1500 reviews, to have an average of 1.1 stars, when the minimum you can give is 1? Well, I have a bigger mathematical impossibility - I'm going to lower their average with this write up (and we should keep lowering it). Simply, I have been a loyal customer customer of 20 plus years. I have accounts for everything: checking, savings, insurance, investments, mortgage, HELOC etc..and I have never made an insurance claim. When I did recently, after 20 hrs of insurance premiums, they basically decided they are only going to pay 40% even though my policy clearly states otherwise. We are following up the matter.
The first thing I did was remove my home and car insurance - why pay if you are really not insured. However, what I found was the new insurance, by complete surprise only, was 2/3 rds less price. Both insurances combined, home and car, were well lower than either car or home insurance alone at Td.. But that wasn't the big shocker, all the money I have overpaid in the twenty years. No, the big shocker was when the new insurance company tilted and said, "Hang on, you get a bundle discount too." We are continuing on in our pursuit of the money and we are moving all our accounts one by one. If only verbally, pass it on. The "green" in their logo is the color your face will turn when you see how much they are giving you for your claim/ s.
