So I have been with Freedom for over 10 years and they are horrible. They cancelled my policy with Allstate early on and got me the most expensive insurance policy. They increased my mortgage payments over $800 a month since the loan origination. They must get kick backs from there rip off insurance agencies. I have been working on correcting the latest scam again because they say my escrow is low. Of course it is! I’m paying for their insurance kick backs. I got full coverage, added wind coverage, and saved myself over $5,000k annually. Now they are scamming and saying they didn’t see the wind coverage I know I added. So guess what? They added another policy on top of all my existing ones!

All this increase in my payment I have been scheduling payments every two weeks thinking I’ve been paying my mortgage early but I have called, faxed, and sent notice to them that I want to set up this plan to quicken my pay off. They have ignored me for over 10 yrs and “holding” my early payments without posting them to the balance of the mortgage. They even told me it was a good idea to keep doing this. Well they increased my payments for escrow again and for $20 they put on my credit report I was delinquent in my mortgage and they will not correct it. My advise is use anyone but Freedom Mortgage. You will regret it forever!

I purchased my home with Freedom Mortgage in May of 2021 and as a 100% disabled veteran living in Virginia I do NOT have to pay taxes on my house. When CoreLogic, which is the escrow/tax recovery company Freedom Mortgage uses, pulled my tax statements from my county they would NOT accept my tax statement of 0$ which I am granted. So CoreLogic illegally pulled the prior years records that were of the former owner and used those against me. This is identity theft of the former owner. And federal fraud against me as I am NOT the former owner and have different taxes, tax rates and discounts. These are not blanket statements, but fact, as legal statutes are in place to prohibit companies from doing this. I informed Freedom mortgage of the error in December of 2021 and by Jan had both Freedom mortgage and Corelogic on the phone understanding what they did and promising to fix it.

I requested an audit of the account and was told it would take place. I have never received the results of any audit. I was told to contact my county and pull the tax statements to help. I reminded them of the 1974 ADA protection act as I am 100% disabled and would need help doing this, they didn't care and would not help. My county are the ones who informed me of how Corelogic broke the law and pulled the former owner's tax statements. Then to make matters worse Freedom mortgage didn't actually pay part of my taxes and blamed the county, just as the county was informing me of the non payment. This may be confusing but by law as a 100% disabled veteran with a VA loan it is Freedom mortgage's responsibility to handle my taxes, not the veteran's responsibility. Not only did they NOT fix it but inflated my escrow to accommodate the new tax information that was fraudulent and only months later paying the late tax bill.

This added $300 a month and for the next 18 months continued to bill me and hurt me no matter what I told them. In August/September of 2022 I finally got someone on the phone that seemed to understand the situation and received again promises of fixing and refunds before Christmas 2022. This again was a lie and nothing was done. Then a check for the last 6 months refund came in, however nothing for the prior year. When contacted Freedom mortgage stated they couldn't send me a check for the remaining tax refund and could only refund into the escrow. This is a blatant lie as we had received the prior refund check AND it is against federal law to hold more than $500 dollars in overages in escrow and those overages must be refunded to home owner.

Freedom mortgage then blamed the county treasurer for not sending them back the overages. Another lie as the county did but to an address Corelogic gave them that they now "claimed was no longer in use". The county treasurer when asked at ANY time during the 18 months for the refund said it was illegal for them to give it to me that Freedom mortgage had to. Freedom mortgage agreed with this fact but said they were always waiting on the monies from the county to be given back to them after they over paid the taxes from the escrow. Another lie as the county had proof of checks sent, not once but twice. Freedom mortgage refused to address the situation at the start of 2023 and refused to work with the buyer in sorting this out even though the buyer is who had the documentation, tax papers, and all other proof of incident.

On Feb. 18th 2023 the checks were refunded by the county treasurer under instruction of Freedom mortgage against federal law. As I can only access this was so Freedom mortgage didn't have to contact me or deal with me. No formal apology for 18 months of hell, no apology for the fact that the 300 dollars per month stolen from the veteran was their food money for the month. Freedom mortgage customer service refused to help, the tax department refused to help, Corelogic refused to help. When they finally agreed to help after threats of publishing what they had done and proving what they had done they said to always ask for a supervisor when calling in BUT stonewalled me be lower customer service never allowing me to talk to the supervisor.

Now I have new bill for UNPAID taxes received this first week of February 2023 which Freedom mortgage refuses to address. As stated earlier I am a 100% disabled veteran and am not supposed to receive tax bills as it is Freedom mortgage's and then Corelogic's responsibility to pay these taxes and receive these statements.

My experience with Freedom Mortgage is a viable option in refinancing your mortgage in spite of the high interest interest rates as of yesterday. In my view, I see the interest rates going up to slow inflation rates. However, the processing time is timely and can get you through the experience with less stress and continue service and does not sell your loan to other serving agencies.

Freedom Mortgage purchased our VA home loan a month before we had to enter into Covid forbearance. We entered Covid forbearance because my husband was diagnosed with cancer and I lost my job during Covid. I requested to get out of Covid forbearance in September 2021. It has been OVER one full year and I am still trying to get our loan modification completed. In the meantime, the fees just keep adding up. Our payment only goes towards unapplied funds. The only people you can talk to are the customer service representatives who answer the phone. There are no supervisors or managers who you can talk to. No one ever calls me back even though they say a manager will contact me. I either call them or send a message on the website every couple of weeks trying to get this loan modified and up to date.

We had a modification letter in October 2021, then again in January 2022, then March 2022. They kept having to adjust it because they went over the allotted amount of days to modify the loan. We finally got paperwork to sign in June 2022. The modified loan was supposed to start in August 2022. They never took the money out of my checking account. I keep calling them to find out what the problem is now. No one can give me a reason except it’s taking a little bit longer because of Covid. So I pay the payments that is on the loan modification. The payment goes into unapplied funds. It’s a never ending cycle!

I get home from work today and there is another set of documents to sign again!!!! It is October 5, 2022 now! I call their phone number, get another customer service representative who wants to know why I’m calling. They will not forward me to anyone who can do anything or figure out what the problem is now. I feel like I’m in the movie Groundhog Day. I tell you, do NOT get anything from this company! The stress, anxiety, rage, annoyance, and just plain waste of my time and energy is not worth it!

I am a property investor with multiple properties/mortgages. Freedom Mortgage purchased 1 of my mortgages. Freedom has increased my payment from $675 to $1005/month. None of my properties have escrow because I pay all the insurance and taxes myself. There are has never been a lapse in coverage as I have all payments automatically drafted from my accounts. Freedom increased my payment for escrow purposes on a 6 year old loan. I contacted Freedom and requested the escrow payment be removed. They asked for proof of insurance. I provided documentation of the most recent declaration page that had been renewed 9 months prior and showed no lapse in coverage.

This is now 4 months down the road and they still refuse to remove the escrow. As I write this review today, my escrow balance is ~$2000. My insurance policy is ~$1450 annually. They continue to charge an additional $330/month for something they have never paid and never will. Their reasoning for the refusal to remove escrow was because I am now a risk since I refused to make the incorrect payment initially. I have never made a late payment on anything. All my payments are automatically drafted. When I attempted to set up the auto-draft with this company, I refused because the payment was wrong. So their justification to continue to steal from me is due to my refusal to give in to their fraudulent charges.

To clarify, I went 4 months without making a payment. Freedom waived late fees while they attempted to correct the payment issue. I have been called them for months and have offered to pay $675 per month for every month. They have consistently told me my payment would only be applied at $1005 per month even after providing proof of insurance. Also, there was NO forced coverage in place. They were collecting up front as a plan to take over paying for me. They are collecting at a rate almost triple what the insurance costs. I finally gave in and have paid all their scammed money as a ransom to bring payments current while I refinance elsewhere.

This company is a scam. I am now in the process of refinancing other properties to pull equity to pay off this mortgage. I have little faith they will refund me any of the escrow they have been collecting. Avoid this company at all costs before they hold you financially hostage with bogus charges for expenses you already pay and they have no intent on paying.

So I filled out an application with them and after they do a hard pull on my credit they tell me that they don't offer home equity loans. They want to sell me on a new mortgage at 2% higher than my existing mortgage. That's not to mention the nearly $12,000 in Fees and other charges they want us to pay for the loan. What a waste of time.

Last year Freedom Mortgage paid out my old insurance company and my new. This caused me to have at least 1400.00 in negative equity. Which also led to an increase in my mortgage. Once they paid both I received a letter stating they may have paid both but it is my job to recover the funds. All they do is place a 3-way call with Nsure which are affiliated with Universal Property and after six months nothing has been resolved. All I get is a major run around. I do plan on contacting the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Freedom purchased our original mortgage shortly after we bought our home. Shortly after this they sent information to me letting me know a refinance option was available to a lower rate and a better payment. The rate was lower and the payment was considerably better than what I was paying so I went with it. What I didn't realize was that they estimated my taxes for escrow at 1250 for the year. This was grossly under any estimate for the area where I live. There is no one in our county who pays close to that. They were off in their estimate by roughly 7600 dollars. So of course I am short in my escrow and now owe a little over 9000 dollars to cover the shortage.

Now, I know a person should always read the fine print but this estimate for my taxes was so grossly under any taxes that anyone pays in my area that something just seems fishy. This seems like some sort of tactic used by a mortgage company to get the best of their customers knowing that most probably will not read the fine print. If you can, I would avoid Freedom Mortgage at all cost. At best I would say their business practices are questionable.

I couldn’t get anyone to return my emails. Questions went unanswered. Promises to follow-up on my customer complaints were never followed-up on. Documents that I had already supplied were requested multiple times again.

I kept being told the loan was “conditionally approved” and ready to go to underwriting only to hear nothing for weeks. The biggest indignity? I live in a windowless dorm on the U.S. Embassy compound in the country where I work. When I’m back home I live in a three-bedroom two-bath house. Freedom Mortgage INSISTED that my DORM ROOM WAS MY PRIMARY RESIDENCE AND MY HOUSE WAS MY “SECONDARY RESIDENCE”!! Excuse me? This became a joke in the office here. Then send threatening letters of foreclosure when you haven't even closed with them. No one knows what the other person is doing and no one can ever answer any questions clearly. To have seen high reviews previously and after the experience my parents have had with them I would NEVER recommend for anyone to use this company or even have one thought of using them. My mortgage was transferred to Freedom recently. On February 19th, I wanted to make a payment for half the March amount due. I was going to make the rest the week after. However, when I made the 700 dollar payment on the website, it went to principal only, which was not what I intended. On February 28th, when I logged on to make the remaining payment, I realized what had happened. I knew it had been applied to principal because it was still showing the full amount due. I called Freedom and they said they could process a refund after 10 days, so call back on the 1st, because that would be the 10th day. (Call 1) March 1st, I called and was told by a man that I would receive the refund in 24-48 hours.

(Call 2) March 3rd, it had been 48 hours and I had not received the refund. I called and spoke to a woman. She said I did not receive the refund because I had not provided my bank account information. Why didn't the man ask me for it on the phone? I gave my bank account info anyway and remained polite and respectful. He made a mistake, no big deal. I was told my refund would arrive in 24 hours. (Call 3) March 4th, I called and spoke to Camille who told me I hadn't received my refund because I hadn't given proof of the transaction leaving my account. Then she said, I see that it was more than 10 days ago, so you won't need proof. I asked what I should do, and she said she didn't know. I asked to speak to a supervisor.

I spoke with Desiree and she told me the same thing. She told me she would work with the dept who processes the refunds and tell them to put it through. She assured me I would have the money in 24 hours maybe the day after. She told me I did NOT need to send proof. She told me my refund would arrive Friday or Saturday, which was 1-2 days from then. I thought it was finally figured out because she was so reassuring on the phone. (Call 4) March 8th, I called and spoke to a man who again requested proof, then again said I do NOT need to send proof because it had been over 10 days. I did not send proof because I was told not to (twice).

(Call 5) March 9th, I received a vm from Beverly but I was at work so I called back. I called twice. Once I spoke to a woman and she said I needed to provide proof. I explained what had been happening and requested to speak to Desiree. No one could find Desiree. I did not have her badge number, that was not their fault. Beverly took a message for her. I asked for a call back in about 40 minutes because I was going into a doctor's appointment.

(Call 6) The second call on March 9th, I was informed Desiree was out of the office that day, and I explained the situation again and asked to speak to a different supervisor. I spoke to Brian **. He said when they told me I did not need to provide proof, that was misinformation. Every time they send the request to the dept that processes refunds, they reject it because there was no proof that the 700 was deducted from my account. Then, I am told repeatedly by customer service, even a manager, that since it has already been 10 days (much longer at this point) I should NOT need to provide proof. I sent proof to Brian and he confirmed he received the email. He said he worked 11-8 the following day and would check on it as soon as he got in, and throughout the day. He said the refund processing usually takes 24 hours.

(Call 7) At this point I had made at least 7 calls and spoken to I think 9 different people, including 2 managers or supervisors. It has been 3 weeks or about 21 days since I made the 700 dollar payment and I have received no refund as promised multiple times. When I call, I am told something different every time. I have not heard from Brian. March 10th, after almost 24 hours, I emailed him again asking for an update. Today is March 11th and I emailed him again this morning.

I would like this issue escalated further. First, I would like a written promise date for my refund to be released to the bank. Then, I would like to find out why I was given misinformation so many times. They even gave me 2 different amounts that I needed to provide proof for. I would like a written promise date, a reason for everything that has happened, and I would like my refund by the end of the day Friday, March 12th. Thank you, Rose.

I went to LendingTree (reluctantly) after speaking with my major bank (business and personal) and my last home mortgage broker about a home refinance. I was reading the news and could tell that they were quoting rates that were too high and too many requirements. After reluctantly opening a request on LendingTree, I got inundated with lender responses on the first and second day. This turned out to be a good thing. I could immediately tell if I liked their follow up approach. I picked only one lender to call back, J.G. Wentworth. Their followup was a real human, with a calm and professional manner. Every other lender left an automated message.

After speaking with JGW she quickly referred me to a senior lending specialist, Bruce **. Bruce followed up with me as I worked through my doubts and delays. I was constantly busy or traveling and he was polite and persistent with me through the entire process, which was to my benefit. He answered all my questions and concerns over a period of several weeks. It all sounded too good to be true so I was hesitant.

The rate was excellent, the terms were the best, and the whole process was very easy. I was wary of the title company coming to my house to complete the closing but was assured by my accountant it would be okay. Could not have been easier. Thank you, Bruce! I start my new mortgage on the first and am saving twice the amount I had hoped to save after refinancing so all I can say is THANK YOU LendingTree, J.G. Wentworth and BRUCE **. This month we filed an insurance claim for hail damage to our roof. Having not done this before, I didn't know the claim check must be made out to me as well as the mortgage company. Not knowing any different, the check was made out to me and JG Wentworth. In an effort to resolve the matter, I called JG Wentworth four times in a week and no one could inform me what to do. They would say they would have someone call me back but, I never received anything from them at all.

Finally I called my insurance company and they are making out a new check with the new mortgage company on it. This whole matter could have been resolved a lot faster if first, they had informed my insurance company about selling the mortgage and/or second, they had just simply been courteous enough to return my calls.

Total incompetence from the lender. We were asked for the same documents over and over. We were told documents we submitted were fine, and then asked to resubmit them. We were pushed off to his assistant because he was too busy to handle us, but knew he was busy when he took on our loan.

He wasn’t ready to close on time, didn’t understand the procedures and products he was selling us on. Misrepresented pertinent information to us. Assured us we would be fine to move in early because we were definitely closing and he would pay the difference if we didn't, then ended up costing us an extra $300 for our leaseback, as well as $300 in mobile notary costs that he also said he was paying for.

We were mistaken for other clients, sent information from other clients' accounts pertaining to their houses and purchases, and had a hard time getting in touch with him. On more than one occasion he would tell our agent it was our fault something wasn't on time, and then immediately tell us we were doing fine, it was the lenders or underwriters that didn't know what they were doing. He told us everyone else was messing up but himself. He will tell you everything is fine, it won't be, and he is somehow never to blame.

At one point, Tom called the title company that was handling our account and told their agent that JGW was a bad company, that they couldn't handle him and how big he was. He told them that he had too many clients for a company like JGW to handle and that all of the problems were due to their awful setup. On this same day, he called me to tell me I shouldn't have taken the word of a title company and that I shouldn't be calling his supervisor for help and that all of this was due to the Title company sticking their nose where it doesn't belong.

We were grateful that the Title Co was involved because they were the ones that warned us that we wouldn't be closing that Friday, as promised, or the Monday after that Tom assured us would be fine. Not a single person from JG Wentworth has tried to contact us, to apologize, or attempt to refund us for the notary we paid for after being told it was covered. When I called to get help and to complain about Tom, not one person even attempted to say "I am so sorry" or to comfort or aid us with our issues at all.

I found getting a mortgage with JG Wentworth to be one of the biggest mistake of my life. My home was already paid for (no mortgage), I really wanted a home equity loan however they said they only could offer me a new mortgage. I was reluctant to do this but went ahead because of the need to have money for needed home repairs. The loan officer I had Nick ** was quite bad. Whenever I had a question about something I had to send an email asking him to call me back. Sometimes it would be the next day before I would get a call back from him and that was with me calling him a 2nd time.

The process started in April and I did not get approved until late June. One hand in the company did not know what the other was doing. They also had misinformation that I had to correct on a number of occasions. Amounts were changed, Mr. ** would say he had informed me of information that he had not informed me about. I ended up submitting at least 50 items (if not more) of documentation before they finally approved the mortgage. To add insult to injury my first payment was due Aug. 1, 2019, prior to making my payment I get a letter in the mail saying JG Wentworth had sold my loan to another company. As of now I am in the middle of trying to find out where my additional principal payment is. Stay away from JG Wentworth unless you want to experience a nightmare similar to the one one I had. You don't need the headache and there are more reputable and competent companies out there. Just so sorry I went with them.

For starters, my credit score is about 800, so you'd think an easy process, right? Well, where to begin? I was transferred loan officers in the middle of the process and given bad pricing on how many "points" were agreed to in a refinance. The closing disclosure came back wrong and created an even further delay. I have still yet to close, but am praying it happens in the next few days.

Oh... want to actually talk to someone? Well during the "sales" part of the process, they are SUPER helpful and warm and fuzzy. Once they have you in the process, they don't even bother to reach out. In the last 3 weeks, I have had to initiate every single discussion to understand what is going on and how they plan to fix my issues. Yet still I wait for response. I have submitted my application on April 14, 2019. My loan officer was Jeff ** in state of Arizona. He promised the lowest interest rate out of all and very promising at the beginning. I have submitted all the necessary documents and let him know I will be on vacation starting May 19th for one week and I will be glad to document I will need before then. At first, he mentioned the loan will be closed by end of April and I will skip May payment, and we spoke to him for different rates. He called other companies scam and was very upset that I am shopping around. He mentioned I am wasting his time which frankly coming from a professional is very unacceptable. Because that is what people do, they shop around for the best deal.

I stayed with the company since they gave a low rate. My house was appraised on Wednesday, April, 22nd I did not get a copy of the report until I made a phone call to the corporate and this was early this week (June 7th). As of today, June 10th I have not received any information nor request additional request for documents. I emailed my loan officer and I called the office again. He just got off the phone with mad and upset of why I am following up with the process. He got very mad, called me mentally unstable and if that was not bad enough he mentioned it to me that he know many people I work with at school (which I am not sure how is this related to my refinance process) that is taking 28 days by now with no updates. Frankly, I am not sure how my loan officer is an expert in psychology field and can label his customers like that. This loan is almost a 30 days now if we count the weekends and no updates. I wanted to use my VA loan and went to LendingTree to get companies that would work with me on this. I was impressed with a couple of them but in the end settled on using JG Wentworth. Worked with Omar. Polite man. Not the best at getting back to you in a timely manner but that's ok. I am not the best at it either. Did not really listen to what I was stating about past financial challenges and that came to roost when the title company did a title search. Even though this was a refi, no plans on selling, been living in the same house for 15+ years, they wanted me to pay off an item on my wife's CR. Doing my research and talking to 1 other title company, they will often do title insurance exception on one item.

Long story short, they would not. I cancelled the loan as it seemed to be a waste of money and time. It was a want not a need to do this so it is ok. Here is the kicker. You have to pay UP FRONT for a appraisal, you cancel the loan no refund. Even though I had cancelled the loan and deleted the information, my insurance company got a request from JG Wentworth and CHANGED my mortgagee information. If I had not read the email I would have been screwed. Never signed any paperwork to actually get the loan, put a stop on my loan application (in writing) and they still changed the insurance without my approval. In my opinion JG is only in it for the money, could care less about the person and may be one of the most unorganized companies I have dealt with in a very long time. Just be careful and double check on everything.

The final straw, got an email that I was clear to close Thursday morning, got a call from the closing attorney, then an hour later Loan officer called me saying they could not verify my income! What, why the heck did you clear me to close. Horrible experience over the last three months and now I have to start all over again. Untrustworthy and no communication to the borrower. In the end I chose another company and the following day I received a call from J G Wentworth's retention department. The man I spoke with was aggressive, rude and would not take "no" for an answer. I had picked two good companies and could have easily gone back to them had I not been disrespected. He seemed taken aback when I suggested they switch their sales tactics and give the customer their best quote from the beginning. He was unprofessional in the derogatory way he spoke about the other company. Once I started to disagree with him and expressed that I felt he was being aggressive, he quit listening to my attempts to improve their customer service. He then hung up on me.

I was charged $450 for appraisal and told the loan agent made a mistake and doubled income I stated on my input of information on their end. It took a month and half to even get a solid pre-approval and they kept increasing fees and interest rate over weeks for various BS reasons! Ultimately, I lost $450 for appraisal and didn't get loan approval even though I supplied exactly what I had stated initially to my loan agent. Here are my experience dealing with 2 different agents at JGWW: 1st Agent, Michael ** at Troy, MI - I was contacted by Michael after I inquired about mortgage loan from Lendingtree.com. I was skeptical at first about obtaining loan from out of state, but he explained to me that it is common, and that JGWW has the advantage of low rate and low origination fee for Costco members, which prompted me to proceed with the application.

First problem that I encountered was with their documents submission portal. They could not resolve it until 2 or 3 days after. That was not a big deal to me. The worst part was when there was suddenly no response at all after I submitted all the docs requested of me. At one point, I felt that I was scammed! Although that turned out to be an overreaction on my part. But seriously, no communication all of a sudden. He stopped responding calls and emails without explanation.

2nd Agent, David ** at Woodbridge, VA - The Costco program led me to give them another shot, so I submitted another inquiry hoping that another one of their agents could use the same application and information I had previously submitted. It turned out they could not, so they had to run my credit again. That was fine, and this agent actually reached out to me for clarification, so I thought it would work great this time around. There were a few times of playing phone tag, and he did not respond to my last email, so I thought I would try another call.

Finally, I got a hold of him, and we talked about my loan request of $610K for a house that I was trying to make an offer for. By this time, I already have 1 full approval (although for less than that amount) and 1 pre-approval for $620K. David said that he could not approve me for a $610K loan, which was fine, so my question to him was that I wanted to know how much could JGWW qualify me for. I informed him of the approvals that I was already given. Then that was when he started becoming agitated. He told me that I was being dishonest with him, and told me that he would not help me when all I asked was for him to let me know the amount that he could pre-approve me for. I even offered to send him an email of my $620K pre-approval, which he declined.

I would usually walk away after being treated that way, but I continued to press for a pre-approval figure because by now I have wasted 2 credit pulls by JGWW. He finally agreed to get back to me tomorrow, but I am curious to find out if he actually will. Note that I typically do not file complains, but I felt really offended by the accusation.

I am only writing this review so that other people don't have to go through what I am going through for my home loan. I was/am working with Jennifer ** (Brand Manager) at the Woodbridge, VA office and I have never had a more unpleasant and frustrating experience. From day one it was nothing but excuses for delayed responses, mis-information, emails that weren't clear that created extra work, etc. We now sit here today, 3 days past our original closing date because they didn't have everything done. What was I given? Excuses. Now we rescheduled our closing to today and guess what, we were told last night at 4:45 pm that they won't get the information to the title company on time. Jennifer is notorious for sending late in the day emails so that nothing can be done until the next morning and then it's almost impossible to get a response at that.

I am now sitting here, waiting to see if they can get stuff over to the title company in time to close today. If not, me, my one year old son, 2 dogs and husband don't have a place to live tonight as we have to be out of our rental by midnight tonight. This morning I ask for an update, and I'm once again, given excuses that 7 of their underwriters are out of the office because of a storm and that the underwriter who was working on my file last night didn't have power so there was nothing they could do. I have sympathy for the storm but it's so hard to be empathetic when so much is on the line and my empathy has been worn thin by all the prior excuses.

The amount of time, constant nagging to get responses, stress of not being communicated to, late notices that things aren't going as planned and general frustration just isn't worth it. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY! It's frustrating that I am down close to $1,000 in extra mover labor fees, canceled move in/move out cleaning appointments, paying for a weekend move instead of a weekday move and potentially staying in a hotel for the next 3 days until this company gets their stuff together. What's even more frustrating is they're still going to get all their commission on this and there's not a darn thing I can do about it. I have repeatedly asked how they're going to make this right and guess what I get... yep... excuses! There are lots of options out there, I would highly recommend skipping over this one.

Customer Beware: If you go with JGW, be sure that your closing date is firm. JGW started with very good rates and fees, that is why we decided to go with them, but when there was a closing delay completely out of our control (structural issue on the house where sellers would not close until they settled with their insurance), JGW charged us $11OO to push the closing 30 days. I spoke to both the agent and the agent's manager who both, without apology, insisted the fee be paid to extend the lock, even though I said I would allow a higher rate if that lock were to be allowed to expire. They refused to allow that. There was no flexibility in policy, even though the delay did not come to a significant cost to them.

Bottom line: The manager had little regard for the situation or his customer. It was very clear, the chance to collect some extra fees was primary in the conversation. In the end, I was told the relocking fees would actually accumulate if we did not close. We did close 30 days later, and JGW got the extra money, even with little extra cost to themselves. I believe they bank on the fact that once you are that far into it, you will just pay the money instead of going through the work of going with another lender, and delaying closing further.

Good short-term profit strategy. Very poor customer service. Your repeat business is not their concern. I even told the manager that if JGW followed through with the charge, my only recourse would be to tell of the situation in a review. He never even called me back after he said he would follow up. And if they don't publish this, the review will be placed at the Lending Tree level where JGW was referred from.

I started this process on 8/17/18 - I sent in all my paperwork on time and as requested, when requested. There has been confusion about documents needed from VA. Confusion on what forms need signed - as of today I have sent in the same form filled in three different ways, because they did not fill it out correctly to begin with. I had a last minute termite inspection I was told about 9/21/18 and we were too close on 9/28/18. Had that completed the 22nd and sent everything in. Today I get an email about what work did the termite men do - this I sent in with the report Saturday - clear as day on the form. Also another form from underwriting for correction. Tonight - I received a second set of closing documents - with a higher loan amount, more fees and my escrow set at twice what it should be - raising my payment by 300$ a month.

Now again these are the second set of closing documents - the first I signed on the 25th so we could close by the 28th of September. They are also a big fan of the 4:55 pm email, the office closes at 5. Therefore any questions, concerns or work that need completed gets put off for the next day, or the next week. I am so beyond frustrated with the process - and I would dump them - but I need to get this done and have the stress out of my life - I wait patiently to see what tomorrow's fubar situation will be. My husband served 15 years for this country - we deserve better than this.

I chose J. G. Wentworth because they were offering the best rates. I was lucky to be assigned Mike ** as my loan officer. Mike was always available to answer my questions - which I had many because I had never applied for a mortgage before - and coached me through a lot of the processes. He even responded to a frantic call I placed while he was attending a funeral! My closing date kept getting delayed, but Mike stuck with me, helped me to save money, and even negotiated an extra day at no charge on my rate lock extension when it looked like my closing would be delayed again. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and if I need to refinance in the future, I hope I'm able to get him as my loan officer!

Without Steven it won't be able to close First payment we paid extra to lower our principal. Paid 5 dollars extra through phone 'cause website down for weeks even till now. We don't want to be late. They never told us transition took 60 days or we can wait till transition to new server still will be fine. Although we won't get late fee but now our extra 1000 get stuck in there couldn't really help our plan.

After paid can no longer talk to representatives just computer then hang up. Wrote the email got the answer need to talk to new server. If need to talk to anyone need to do live chat. The website is not user friendly. Never get a call back as they promised after I finally can talk to other branches representatives. Not too happy about this.

This company is a joke. From beginning to end, they had us in total upheaval. Initial approval was done and they had not researched the law in our state. If doing business in a state they should know the law. Then when they did look into it, they interpreted it incorrectly, putting us into a major tailspin because we had made an offer on an home based on their original approval. They said jump. We said how high. Should have talked to our lawyer first but didn’t... Got the loan after many sleepless nights, had to pay for hotel and for storage that should not have been necessary. And now that we got the loan... tried to deal with payment processing and they can’t get their stories straight either. Don't use this company. Run!

After Hurricane Irma hit Florida, I was contacted by J.G. Wentworth about helping out after the storm. They offered a deferment plan with possible payback options after the deferment ended. I thought this was great to help those who had a financial impact caused in preparation and damages caused by the storm. Before the deferment ended I contacted J.G. Wentworth to discuss options, they sent me a package to complete, I completed the package and sent it back to them with the intent to use the repayment plan prior to my deferment ending. For the next three months I called and made the normal mortgage payment plus extra to pay back the payment missed during deferment.

Each month I called, spoke with a customer service agent, and asked if everything was ok and make my payment. Each time (Jan, Feb, Mar) they state, yes and thanked me for the payment. In May I received a letter which stated I was past due, I called and spoke with a default collections rep and she told me they never received my repayment package. I asked for another one and in June I had repaid and became current by late May early June. During this time and over the past three months (June, July, August and now September) I have been trying to get the negative reporting on my credit report reversed. They first asked for a letter, which they misplaced and sent to the wrong department, even with it being labeled they way the told me. I asked them to review all calls I made from Jan to May during this "investigation".

On August 7th, I called asking for an update and was told they had completed the "investigation" but they would not reverse it. I asked if they had reviewed the calls and was told they did not, because I did not state the date and the person I spoke with. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to a Mr. ** (spelling?) asking him if he would review the phone calls I made, when the customer service reps were telling me everything is good. He stated, "I do not need to review the calls, I know what they said. We trained to say it was ok during this time and this was a miscommunication." He also told me, he was going to approve the change to my credit reporting and it would be done within 5 days and if there was an issue he would call me.

Three weeks later, I never received a call or a letter stating their was an issue or a correction. I called again and was again transfer a number of times until I spoke with a Mrs. **. She read back the notes from Mr. ** and stated this should have been completed on the 10th of August and that he wrote there was miscommunication on the part of J.G. Wentworth. She was going to put it for approval again. I called back the next day to check to see if it had been done and speak to her manager Mr. **. I was forwarded to the New Jersey office. I was told by the rep there he was not available but I would receive a call within the next 24 hrs. This was August 30th.

On September 4th, I called again after not receive another call I was promised. To be told that Mrs. ** would call me back that night. Once again, I did not receive any call. I have spent well over 40 hrs on the phone with back and forth trying to get this problem resolved. I have told this issue would be corrected but nothing has been done and it seems now, I'm just getting the run-a-round. I have ask to have all calls and notes sent to me, but was told they will only do that if a court order requests them. It seems I will have to go the litigation route to get this resolved, which will take time and will not help my family in the meantime. I have moved, sold my home in FL, paid-off the loan and relocated to another state and now unable to buy a new home because of this negative reporting.

I would not suggest using this company, I have been stated different policies on the same topic, have experienced them losing or misplacing paperwork, and a complete lack of follow through. I have read other reviews that have experience the same problems other customers have and when speaking to Mr. **, he stated others have gone through the same thing. On a positive note, I will state most of the reps have been very nice and have tried to be helpful in their capacity.

I had already paid for an appraisal, which was a waste of $500 because the loan terms changed under the new loan processor, and that is unacceptable. I emailed them several times, but the new loan processor must have decided to stop communicating with me. Sadly, they're in Dallas and I'm in New Orleans so I have no recourse or way to get refunded for my appraisal. I don't recommend J.G. Wentworth Home Loans, but I wish I could.

Forced me to spend 450.00 on an appraisal that if they did the financial right the first time, they would have told me that I wouldn't qualify and not waste my money that I still have to pay for now and in the end I am less than 200. To the fine line between debt to income ratio.

Plus being serviced by my guy James who mysteriously quit or got fired, then dangling in the wind worrying only to bring it to someone's attention that, "WTF. What's going on." Do yourself a favor and work with a professional company because this isn't one of them. They lie to you and get your hopes up only to let you down... I should get a refund for all my money they wasted with this unprofessional company. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND HEED MY WARNING. OR DON'T AND FIND OUT THE HARD WAY LIKE I DID. THEY SUCK AT IT.

J.G. Wentworth Home Lending. I am representing an owner of a home, a VETERAN that served our country, in the short sale of their home. Let me start with J.G. Wentworth has been very unhelpful during the entirety of this transaction. They have a viable contract in their possession that meets the terms of what they were asking to net out of the deal and they are rushing to foreclose on this Veteran and his family!! The VA has even gotten involved since they are backing the loan on this property in Stafford County, Va, and has asked twice for an extension of 60 days on the foreclosure and J.G. Wentworth will not even acknowledge an official from the VA with this request! The veteran and his family has jumped through every loop that this bank has asked them to do.

Getting paperwork back the same day as requested. Why are they rushing to foreclose on the owner when they have a contract in place that is exactly what they asked for? Why do they make the process so long and tedious by using fax machine? Why do they take 48 hours or longer to acknowledge any paperwork sent to them? They drag their feet through the entire process. but now they can rush to foreclosure. This is a slap in the face of this Veteran and his family. This was their dream home, their forever home! He had his body broken down through service for our country and this is the best they can do??

DO NOT USE THIS LENDER unless you want your credit highly impacted. Honestly, we had four done on one day alone by this company. We had recently refinanced our home with another lender to add my husband and change my name on the deed. This took us approximately 17 business days. We were finally contacted by J.G. Wentworth regarding our original inquiry to them. This should have been a warning, but we didn't see it.

They offered us a good lower rate (with a 30 day lock) and in writing stated several times this would be easier and fast. They advised they would have the loan closed by 07/01/2018 (a Sunday) but meant 07/02/18. So this is where the problems begin. Complaints: 1. Between them and some subcontracted company, they did more than 8 hard credit pulls on our credit. There were some where multiple pulls were done on the same day by both entities. Not necessary as nothing changed. 2. Their performing so many hard pulls has resulted in our credit rating plummeting. We are now having to dispute with the three credit bureaus that these are all duplicate pulls.

    3. They were two weeks past their stated date. 4. We are past the date of funding and cannot get a response as to whether the loan funded on time. The original lender is indicating no payment has been received. 5. The loan processor is rude. The underwriter doesn't understand various documentation they receive and cause delays while explanations must be provided (which most of us understand). 6. Our Loan Consultant has been vacant for much of the issues and delays. Only when we notified them we were going to cancel did she again reengage for a very short time. She is again absent.

We sent all of our documentation needed to them on 06/06/18. We received a request for this same information on 06/13/18. Immediately within 2 hours of receiving the request responded that we had already sent and uploaded these documents on 06/06/18 with the exception of one small item (HOA statement). We sent all of the documents to this loan processor yet again on 06/13/18.

Later we were advised that the loan couldn't be processed until after the documents were received and they hadn't been requested until 06/13/18 so they wouldn't have been able to process anything for at least the 5-6 days it would have taken us to compile and send. We had to point out to them they should have started working on the documents as early as 06/07/18 or 06/08/18. They then had to acknowledge they had not paid attention. At this point we asked if our closing and ultimate funding would be delayed. We were still not advised of any change as they were working hard to catch up.

(Synopsizing) After multiple times where we were asked for over and over for the same documents, we were finally able to get J.G. Wentworth to provide a closing date and funding date. Of course the closing date was when were had a planned out of town trip over the July holiday. In order to not lose our lock in or delay further we were forced to cancel our plans and sign documents on a Saturday. (The notary was great - however isn't an employee of this company.) If we had been informed of the true timeline we might not be as unhappy, however there is no reason they needed to perform so many credit pulls.

Now we are past the funding date and no one will respond and the original loan doesn't appear to be paid off. Results: 1. We still don't know if loan has funded and prior lender paid off. 2. Our credit is currently impacted by all of the many credit pulls performed. 3. Funding was not fast nor easy. 4. We are nervous about receiving payment instructions prior to the first payment being due. This company may have a good BBB rating, but that can only be because folks are so frustrated they don't file complaints.

I just refinanced with J.G. Wentworth and would not recommend them. Right before the closing I'm told my house only appraised for 305,000 when even Zillow has it for 337,000. The appraisal had the wrong amount of rooms, wrong amount of bathrooms, wrong heating system for my in law attached apartment. And they used comps from one year ago. So now I have to pay 4400, or drop the loan amount and pay 2200 or up the interest rate by 1/4 percent. I asked for a new appraisal due to the fact that there was so much incorrect info and they refused. Convenient huh??? So now I'm knee deep and if go with someone else it would be months. I have had about 10 mortgages in my lifetime always with local banks. NEVER had this happen. So lesson learned. I will never go with a mortgage company again.

I'm selling my house next year so I went with it. I will be paying the mortgage off and will never use them Again! Plus there were numerous mistakes. Some man's name was on all my checks. It took them 3 times to get his name off. It was ridiculous. Now today I get a check for the escrow telling me my taxes are paid and this is the refund. I call the tax office and NO my property taxes were not paid.

After weeks of sending personal information, spending money on appraisal, correspondence, time invested, phone calls, making changes to your ins. policy and misc., deal wasn't completed. I decided to walk away from this Mortgage Lender. They weren't completely transparent on the deal and the delivered information. Proposal figures keep changing and increasing. You need to be an accountant to understand where they make the figures change. They want you to just focus on lowering your mortgage payment, but on their end, they are making more money as the cost of the loan starts at one amt. and when you receive the final docs., the total loan cost amt. would increase. If the customer is desperate as they are for sure you will close the deal and pay the high price.

The beginning of their conversations are very smooth ones, later on they get very aggressive and desperate. They want you to act in a rushing mode because they want you to sign docs. Proposal starts in line with other lenders (cost approx $ 7K fees & prepaid for a $ 200K loan), later on it increased to $ 11.5K ($ 4.5K more). Just Crazy!

For me, it was a learning experience. Just because you are speaking with someone really nice on the other end, that doesn't mean that they are the nicest, truth-worthy person looking after your interest (the true interest is for them to make tons of money from you and pretending that they are helping you). It's a business and they are trying to obtain as much money possible from you in a way that isn't too clear for you (numbers don't add up) or as for the discrepancy not easy to identify.

Only, when you issue a question, you will receive the answer as of why. But, they wouldn't advise you of the increment in cost and allow you to make a decision in regards of continuing with all the processing (very draining process). Managers are worse than sales reps. They pretend and try to fool you stating, "I'll definitely help you", however, they have in place the same sales technique (trying to make you sign docs. in a rush and now at a higher rate). Underestimating the intelligence of their customer (no integrity).

I would like to say that I am highly frustrated, disappointed and shocked on how this company conducts business; specifically its underwriting. This experience was supposed to be better than then my last new home loan experience that was a 45 day mess. I picked this company based on the company’s “internet” reviews received and the average time it took to close on a loan was within a three weeks period. It was my fault for not looking closely because a lot of the negative reviews came from “Texas” and specifically JGW “Underwriting”.

Whoever is looking at getting a “Cash Loan” for home repair and consolidation, which is similar to an “Equity Loan” but most cash loans don’t have to pay closing costs upfront or it’s rolled into the loan. Some Equity Loans if you go through a credit union don’t have to pay closing costs and are covered by the Credit Union depending on the Amount of loan.

I ended up going with the Credit Union as you will see and didn’t have to pay for an appraisal based on the amount of the loan and utilized an Automatic V.M. calculation. (Automatic Appraisal sorry don’t remember what it stands for) but it calculates nearby listing of homes based on the same square footage of your home and sales. Definitely look into Equity Loans and look at the review for JGW Underwriting which is pretty bad. I also advise that if you have an older home or acreage (like mine 5.01 acres) with an agriculture exemption (wildlife) to think about considering an equity loan.

First of all, I was not warned about issues of having an older home with a Cash Loan through Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, (a lot of strict stipulations from what I heard afterwards), a lot of the home repairs would have to be conducted first, as I was informed by Lead/Supervisor Billy **. Luckily none of my repairs were major but still time consuming and costly; having a six month newborn and my wife who is disabled put a definite strain on trying to get items fixed and a strain financially. I would have liked to have known this prior to moving forward as I might not have chosen to get the Cash Loan knowing the risk and the payouts I would have to do prior to the getting a loan.

This house was inherited by my wife, and was gifted to me to place me on the deed with her name, and was almost 40 years old. Again the purpose of the cash loan was to help with consolidation and home repair; why would I get a loan that I would have to fix a majority of things prior to getting the loan. I audit correctional facilities for a living and utilize discretion as well as follow Texas standards but I make sure that the spirit of the standard is being applied and this was not done by the underwriter at all. The brief edited version of the story, I had acquired all the necessary paperwork, and the loan officer submitted this to the underwriter for approval. I provided all my documentation and responded with Letters of explanation within less than 2 weeks of original start of my application on 3/16/18 and was supposedly closing on March 30th as I was assured; and my credit had been built up to good standing.

Secondly, I had to get a third party appraiser ($450) so that took about a week to schedule based on the appraiser’s schedule (3/20/18) and was written and submitted on (3/28/18). Information was submitted and I was informed initially that underwriting would not get to it till after the March 30th because of their schedule; I’m sorry we all have schedules but having to wait over 4 days for them to review was unacceptable. A supervisor in underwriting was urged to review on (3/30/18) and noted several deficiencies, and would not allow the closing. The underwriter was asked for items to be fixed. Some items I did agree with due to safety reasons: (Temp. Fence around pool, fixing back steps with rails – even though that door was going to be replaced with siding).

Other items I didn’t agree with: Fixing Red shed support, for which was not even on the appraisal report as an issue but I replaced with all concrete support from the original wood and concrete supports already in place. The second item I didn’t agree with was the dining ceiling which I had removed as we had a torrential rain and high winds which were unusual about a year and a half ago and fixing the roof and a drywall hole in a ceiling. Again this is a 40 year old house. I did not want to replace the dining ceiling due to the cost and because by chance if it rains and leaks and argued I didn’t want to “fix” the roof. I wanted to “replace” the roof, which I had a roofer already provide me an estimate prior to them asking and was fortunate enough to have him write a letter stating the roof was in good repair and no signs of leaks.

I argued with the underwriter as the initial appraisal value already had taken into consideration these deductions in value of about $7,000. I submitted letters of explanation to the underwriter but still requested all those items be fixed and I fixed them after being told immediately on the weekend and were completed on (04/09/18). I submitted all pictures of repairs and underwriter stated the back porch needed two rails and not just one so I had to complete that on about (4/12/18).

As part of the underwriter’s original request he had asked that I move two trailers which he deemed Manufactured/Mobile homes. I argued it was a construction job site trailer and travel trailer and provided supporting documentation. I was told by the loan processor Wayne ** that underwriting wanted to make sure that it was not being rented or used for additional income. The pictures I submitted verified they were dilapidated and the construction trailer had no rooms or plumbing; but the underwriter still wanted it moved. I argued even with the Supervisor Billy ** who agreed that it was pretty dumb request, because the underwriter was still claiming it to be a manufactured/mobile home. I asked do they ask this with anyone that owns a travel trailer on their property… No good answer was given that made sense, but I moved the dilapidated trailers off of my property.

The third issue, from the original underwriter's review was from a footnote that the appraiser had included. I had spoken to the appraiser and mentioned that a Barn on the other side of my property might be on our property but wasn’t sure due to being possibly a newer survey. The underwriter saw the note and wanted a new survey; I argued this and was able to contact the original surveyor who still worked at the same company and stated that the survey I had 2008 was the most current verifying that the barn was not located on my property. This information and the original survey was submitted to underwriting along with a letter of explanation attesting that the barn was not on my property and provided copies of the original survey along with Google maps that shows property lines based on county information. The division of property lines matched my original survey and was a waste of another week arguing with the underwriter.

I had to then wait for the survey and to find a surveyor that would conduct a survey and accept payment after loan payment was made to me. The survey was conducted on 4/30/18 already a month later and a total of (6 weeks) time. The survey was unnecessary and delayed the loan closing and also cost $1100.00 USD. Finally, after all this was done and of course the information that I provided to the underwriter the first time was near exact to what the new survey showed. The surveyor was asked to state where the barn was but he stated that because the barn was 30’ outside of my property line it was not included on the survey. So anything on the survey if it’s not on the survey it’s not on the property. There was enough evidence to support the barn was not on the property without incurring the additional cost of another survey.

Finally, the approval was given by underwriting to go ahead with closing and my wife and I signed electronically closing disclosure provided by (Kimberly **) on 05/01/18 and closing was tentatively set for 5/04/18 as we had to have a required 3 day period before closing. I contacted Wayne by e-mail on the morning of 5/2/18 to confirm closing procedures and stated that we did meet deadline to close on 5/4/18 and he would get with me that afternoon to go over details of closing. I waited till about 4:30 p.m. and still had not heard anything so I called him.

The Fourth issue, when speaking with Wayne, he stated that underwriting had missed something. I told him I thought it already had gone through underwriting?? He stated that the title/deed needed to be titled (6) months prior to closing in my name. My wife added me to the deed (Deed of Gift) in December 2017 and the paperwork was filed with the county clerk on 18 January 2018 (almost 5 months). Wayne stated that because I haven’t been on the title for 6 months I would have to wait until 6/8/18 to be qualified for the “Cash Loan”. I was in utter shock to be (2) days from closing and having signed closing disclosure for closing and tell me I had to wait for another month. I had no words on what to say. Wayne stated he would look into this as I was going to confirm when I was added on title.

After explaining to my wife what happened, going through the nightmare of many hoops we had to go through and then told I was closing on 5/4/18, and then to be told, you were not going to be closing, was just unfathomable. There have been five people who have looked at my file (Wayne ** - Loan Processor, Billy **- Team Lead, Jacqueline **- Sr. Loan Processor, Kimberly ** - Closer, and the INFAMOUS – Underwriter) and this was not identified until (2) days before closing and after closing disclosures were signed.

Fifthly, My wife and I looked into the Fannie Mae rules or guidelines, which do state it has to be in title for 6 months but the next day I spoke with my credit union Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) regarding Home Equity Loans. I explained my situation and stated that they could still process an Equity Loan if the title was “gifted” or “inherited” to me. On the deed it states “Deed of Gift” from my wife.

Sixthly, I had to provide this information to them as I provided it to Wayne to run through the underwriter and he would get back to me. Mike did call and stated he did review the Fannie Mae Guidelines and stated that it did state, “If it was gifted or inherited” and he would provide this to the underwriter. Lastly, Mike called me back several hours later to inform me that the underwriter provided his definition for gifted: “Awarded” and something to the effect of being given as in a divorce or direct Inheritance.”

Shocked again that the Fannie Mae Guidelines state “Inherited and gifted” and the deed states the property was “gifted” to me and yet the INFAMOUS Underwriter states “Gifted” really means “Awarded” from a divorce. I would like to know why the underwriter’s definition of gifted is so different from other lending institutions. Is there a standard for the terms definition that can be shown to us or this merely the underwriters own interpretation.

I sent an email to all parties involved: (Wayne ** - Loan Processor, Billy ** - Team Lead, Jacqueline ** - Sr. Loan Processor, Kimberly ** - Closer, and the INFAMOUS UNKNOWN – Underwriter), and that I would like for this to be looked at in the light that as “gifted” as what the deed shows, as it was gifted to me and meets the special requirements to be less than six months as what the Fannie Mae Guideline stated per Wayne. I would hope to hear from someone immediately to help move this forward and bring to resolve and closing.

I never heard anything from anyone; I canceled my application with Wayne and applied for a home Equity Loan with RBFCU and closed on loan within three weeks utilizing the exemption of having the property deeded to me as a gift as it states in the deed and not having to wait for six months. All I can say is no one stood up for righteousness and the underwriter who screwed up in the beginning dictated everything and lost business transaction that was easy when everything was provided in hand to them until the underwriter made personal opinions.

When I first came across J.G. Wentworth I thought it was a gimmick or some sort of business that advertised their rates to attract customers to never hear back from them. Well... I was so wrong. I can spend days writing how happy I was with my experience with this lender and loan officer Alexandra **... but wanted to keep this short so that consumers like me in the future can be better informed and make a good decision. I shopped around for the best rates (Rocket Mortgage was among them), but no one came close on the rate nor the closing cost like J.G. Wentworth. And to my surprise they stuck to their rates as they said they would! I know that sounds surprising and crazy... but nowadays businesses don't stick to their word and/or probably change the terms of their agreement (like charging you points and fees that you don't even know about).

When I got in contact with them, I spoke with Alexandra **. Again thought I was never going to hear back from them ever... She was the most amazing loan officer I have ever experienced (and I have done many real estate closing 15+). She was always there a phone call away when I needed her help. She listed her cell number on her signature and even took calls over the weekend/night when I needed her help.

If you are shopping for a lender and a great loan officer... don't hesitate and go with J.G. Wentworth and Alex. They will do a fantastic job... I can honestly say they would. I don't like writing reviews much... but wanted to share my story in this forum so others can benefit. The only thing I ask is that you write a review after your experience - which will be nothing short than amazing!! For me... well I ended up with a great rate, extremely low cost for closing (even my closing agent said the same thing) and most importantly... I ended with a friend: Alex. Thank you so much for taking care of us Alex... I appreciate all you did for me and my family.

He is a fast talker, literally and figuratively. He was constantly saying that he would call me back within a few hours, email me an update within 30 minutes. IF I did get a call or email from him it was around 9 pm when I was through for the day. I found myself having to call him and leave messages when I didn't hear from him in a week. Blake finally got a hold of me and I got his phone number. Twice I asked him to please take over my account because of issues with Russell.

I faxed all the information needed to Russell and after promising me that he could get an IRRRL, he did a bait and switch recommending a conventional. And never got the email he offered suggesting options. I left a voicemail for Blake telling him that all bets were off with Russell and he could take over the account once and for all or nothing. Apparently, it's nothing. I wasted a month of my time when I could have very easily gone to another lender and had my refinancing completely by now. I can honestly say I can't recommend them and will not use them in the future.

Wentworth as they proved to be incompetent and unresponsive in getting their primary task completed - closing a home loan on time. I began the application process over two months before we needed to close on a new house (I had to wait to lock my rate-two months before closing.) They were not able to deliver the paperwork to the closing attorney on time.

To rub salt in our wounds on closing day the closing attorney tried over and over to get in touch with our loan processor and no one returned their call-all day. We were supposed to close our loan at 4:00 pm on Friday and when all parties arrived at the closing attorney’s office they had not heard one word from J.G. Wentworth concerning our closing package. Needless to say the people we were purchasing the house from were furious and we were out on the street for three days (it was Friday.) We incurred over $3800.00 in expenses and loss of wages, not to mention the embarrassment and anxiety they caused us. Everything we owned was in a locked house we did not own. J.G. Wentworth offered us a remediation gesture that does not begin to cover the loss we incurred as a result of their utter ineptitude and lack of corporate and personal professionalism.

He was patient in explaining everything very thoroughly and he "always" showed those attributes in every contact we made with him. He was always accessible and always found the answers and solutions to our needs.

I am over 60 and in all my years I have never found the "complete" package in a customer service (in this case mortgage broker) agent as you have in Mor **. Whatever he makes in compensation, he earns every penny of it and probably puts in twice as much work/value to the company compared to his compensation. This man is one of your superstars!!!

Working with Michael **, Sr. Loan Officer at JGW, on an investment property refi was a great experience. From beginning to end, we received exactly what we were promised. Michael knew exactly what to do to work us into a product that was best for our circumstances. His expertise was outstanding. This was our first experience working with an online loan company. We will do it again and when we do, we will call Michael! Heather and others were also efficient and got the job done on time!

It was a pleasure working with Jesus during my refinance process. Lots of lenders contacted me and provided tons of useful info but what Jesus did was quite exceptional which influenced my decision to go with JGW. He provided great info and thoroughly explained all options while giving me which loan makes sense in his opinion for my case. His dedication and responsiveness was exceptional. He responded to my emails even if it was after hours, i.e as late as 11pm. That I thought was brilliant since I run some crazy and busy life schedule. He helped made the process very smooth and stress free and I’m glad I gave him the chance to provide his excellent service to me. I have already recommended a friend to him and will continue to recommend. Thank you for great working very hard to earn my business.

My wife and I recently refinanced our home through J.G. Wentworth. Over the years we have refinanced several homes that we owned, this was by far the best experience we have had. Loan officer was great to work with. He let us know exactly what we would need upfront and stuck to it. Loan closed very fast so thank you Tom.

Fantastic service! I contacted J.G. Wentworth when shopping for a home loan. My loan officer, Mor **, did an amazing job helping me through the process. From the start, he was incredibly professional and very easy to work with. I shopped around a good bit and Mor was, by far, the most knowledgeable person I'd met. I can't say enough good things about my experience. I would recommend Mor ** to any of my family or friends shopping for a loan.

J.G. Wentworth beat all other loan terms I was offered and their staff was more interested in helping me than trying to push something I didn’t want. Glen ** and Michele ** were both extremely professional and responsive. I closed a few days earlier than expected and got exactly what I was told from day one. No surprises or hidden costs. Entered a VA Cashout refinance with J.G. Wentworth in which I was told by the loan officer that I could skip 2 consecutive mortgage payments. The goal was to close the loan in 30 days or less yet it took more time than expected (Understandable). To avoid the late fee for the following month, I decided to pay my mortgage for the first of the 2 months in which I was supposed to skip. I communicated with the loan officer via text and was told that he was going to look at it being reimbursed in my Cashout payment once the loan closed.

The loan closed the last week of that month however, the reimbursement or adjustment to the skipped month was not accounted for in the cashout payment or any of the closeout documents. I texted the loan officer to confirm and he mentioned that he would now try to get it included in the escrow reimbursement. That never happened either and the loan was sold to another mortgage company with payment due the next very next month. The loan officer from that point took his time to respond to some of my questions regarding this discrepancy and still nothing's been done. I'm finding that the loan officer has little to no interest in helping resolve my issue due to the fact that loan is now closed. He even mentioned that the payment was included in the Cashout disbursement. The closeout documents (numbers) do not reflect that information.

I also tried escalating this issue on numerous occasions to a higher authority but the organizational communication structure attempts to route me back to that loan officer not to his branch managers. The organization's contact structure does not properly provide customers with the means to properly escalate their issues. This seems like it's been an endless loop. This is odd because I executed a VA IRRRL with the organization in which I was able to skip 2 consecutive payments so that cannot say that they did or do not offer this option. It's a shame that I will have to seek legal actions to get this resolved and report this to the VA as well.

Awful. More than two weeks ago, early March 2018, I contacted J.G. Wentworth and spoke to Shayar **. I explained to him that I was interested in refinancing my mortgage. He asked me bunch of questions and then assured me that he would be happy to assist me and the whole process would be painless and takes only 10 days. He requested a list of documents that needed to begin the process. I provided all the documents next day and got his call that he received all the documents and he would be get back to me. One week passed away, then the middle of the next week I sent an email to him and I got an auto response that Shayar is out of the office.

Finally, after two weeks passed by, I received a call from Shayar that he had an emergency and had to leave the office, I was surprised because if I have an emergency I would at least contact my clients or have my manager contact them. Nothing was done, later he sent me an appraisal payment request, I refused to pay upfront appraisal fee because I had been burn twice in the name of appraisal fee. I proposed that I would pay the fee once the loan is approved; he unequivocally said he could not accept this and drop the call. I was really upset and frustrated. This company should not be on top ten mortgage companies; rather should sit at the bottom of the list.

While we endured what felt like hundreds of calls from other lenders, each more pressuring than the last, Mike's concise and straightforward email was the perfect way to get our attention. He gave us the facts and a friendly note and we were immediately interested in hearing more. We're glad we did!
