So I have been with Freedom for over 10 years and they are horrible. They cancelled my policy with Allstate early on and got me the most expensive insurance policy. They increased my mortgage payments over $800 a month since the loan origination. They must get kick backs from there rip off insurance agencies. I have been working on correcting the latest scam again because they say my escrow is low. Of course it is! I’m paying for their insurance kick backs. I got full coverage, added wind coverage, and saved myself over $5,000k annually. Now they are scamming and saying they didn’t see the wind coverage I know I added. So guess what? They added another policy on top of all my existing ones!

All this increase in my payment I have been scheduling payments every two weeks thinking I’ve been paying my mortgage early but I have called, faxed, and sent notice to them that I want to set up this plan to quicken my pay off. They have ignored me for over 10 yrs and “holding” my early payments without posting them to the balance of the mortgage. They even told me it was a good idea to keep doing this. Well they increased my payments for escrow again and for $20 they put on my credit report I was delinquent in my mortgage and they will not correct it. My advise is use anyone but Freedom Mortgage. You will regret it forever!

I purchased my home with Freedom Mortgage in May of 2021 and as a 100% disabled veteran living in Virginia I do NOT have to pay taxes on my house. When CoreLogic, which is the escrow/tax recovery company Freedom Mortgage uses, pulled my tax statements from my county they would NOT accept my tax statement of 0$ which I am granted. So CoreLogic illegally pulled the prior years records that were of the former owner and used those against me. This is identity theft of the former owner. And federal fraud against me as I am NOT the former owner and have different taxes, tax rates and discounts. These are not blanket statements, but fact, as legal statutes are in place to prohibit companies from doing this. I informed Freedom mortgage of the error in December of 2021 and by Jan had both Freedom mortgage and Corelogic on the phone understanding what they did and promising to fix it.

I requested an audit of the account and was told it would take place. I have never received the results of any audit. I was told to contact my county and pull the tax statements to help. I reminded them of the 1974 ADA protection act as I am 100% disabled and would need help doing this, they didn't care and would not help. My county are the ones who informed me of how Corelogic broke the law and pulled the former owner's tax statements. Then to make matters worse Freedom mortgage didn't actually pay part of my taxes and blamed the county, just as the county was informing me of the non payment. This may be confusing but by law as a 100% disabled veteran with a VA loan it is Freedom mortgage's responsibility to handle my taxes, not the veteran's responsibility. Not only did they NOT fix it but inflated my escrow to accommodate the new tax information that was fraudulent and only months later paying the late tax bill.

This added $300 a month and for the next 18 months continued to bill me and hurt me no matter what I told them. In August/September of 2022 I finally got someone on the phone that seemed to understand the situation and received again promises of fixing and refunds before Christmas 2022. This again was a lie and nothing was done. Then a check for the last 6 months refund came in, however nothing for the prior year. When contacted Freedom mortgage stated they couldn't send me a check for the remaining tax refund and could only refund into the escrow. This is a blatant lie as we had received the prior refund check AND it is against federal law to hold more than $500 dollars in overages in escrow and those overages must be refunded to home owner.

Freedom mortgage then blamed the county treasurer for not sending them back the overages. Another lie as the county did but to an address Corelogic gave them that they now "claimed was no longer in use". The county treasurer when asked at ANY time during the 18 months for the refund said it was illegal for them to give it to me that Freedom mortgage had to. Freedom mortgage agreed with this fact but said they were always waiting on the monies from the county to be given back to them after they over paid the taxes from the escrow. Another lie as the county had proof of checks sent, not once but twice. Freedom mortgage refused to address the situation at the start of 2023 and refused to work with the buyer in sorting this out even though the buyer is who had the documentation, tax papers, and all other proof of incident.

On Feb. 18th 2023 the checks were refunded by the county treasurer under instruction of Freedom mortgage against federal law. As I can only access this was so Freedom mortgage didn't have to contact me or deal with me. No formal apology for 18 months of hell, no apology for the fact that the 300 dollars per month stolen from the veteran was their food money for the month. Freedom mortgage customer service refused to help, the tax department refused to help, Corelogic refused to help. When they finally agreed to help after threats of publishing what they had done and proving what they had done they said to always ask for a supervisor when calling in BUT stonewalled me be lower customer service never allowing me to talk to the supervisor.

Now I have new bill for UNPAID taxes received this first week of February 2023 which Freedom mortgage refuses to address. As stated earlier I am a 100% disabled veteran and am not supposed to receive tax bills as it is Freedom mortgage's and then Corelogic's responsibility to pay these taxes and receive these statements.

My experience with Freedom Mortgage is a viable option in refinancing your mortgage in spite of the high interest interest rates as of yesterday. In my view, I see the interest rates going up to slow inflation rates. However, the processing time is timely and can get you through the experience with less stress and continue service and does not sell your loan to other serving agencies.

Freedom Mortgage purchased our VA home loan a month before we had to enter into Covid forbearance. We entered Covid forbearance because my husband was diagnosed with cancer and I lost my job during Covid. I requested to get out of Covid forbearance in September 2021. It has been OVER one full year and I am still trying to get our loan modification completed. In the meantime, the fees just keep adding up. Our payment only goes towards unapplied funds. The only people you can talk to are the customer service representatives who answer the phone. There are no supervisors or managers who you can talk to. No one ever calls me back even though they say a manager will contact me. I either call them or send a message on the website every couple of weeks trying to get this loan modified and up to date.

We had a modification letter in October 2021, then again in January 2022, then March 2022. They kept having to adjust it because they went over the allotted amount of days to modify the loan. We finally got paperwork to sign in June 2022. The modified loan was supposed to start in August 2022. They never took the money out of my checking account. I keep calling them to find out what the problem is now. No one can give me a reason except it’s taking a little bit longer because of Covid. So I pay the payments that is on the loan modification. The payment goes into unapplied funds. It’s a never ending cycle!

I get home from work today and there is another set of documents to sign again!!!! It is October 5, 2022 now! I call their phone number, get another customer service representative who wants to know why I’m calling. They will not forward me to anyone who can do anything or figure out what the problem is now. I feel like I’m in the movie Groundhog Day. I tell you, do NOT get anything from this company! The stress, anxiety, rage, annoyance, and just plain waste of my time and energy is not worth it!

I am a property investor with multiple properties/mortgages. Freedom Mortgage purchased 1 of my mortgages. Freedom has increased my payment from $675 to $1005/month. None of my properties have escrow because I pay all the insurance and taxes myself. There are has never been a lapse in coverage as I have all payments automatically drafted from my accounts. Freedom increased my payment for escrow purposes on a 6 year old loan. I contacted Freedom and requested the escrow payment be removed. They asked for proof of insurance. I provided documentation of the most recent declaration page that had been renewed 9 months prior and showed no lapse in coverage.

This is now 4 months down the road and they still refuse to remove the escrow. As I write this review today, my escrow balance is ~$2000. My insurance policy is ~$1450 annually. They continue to charge an additional $330/month for something they have never paid and never will. Their reasoning for the refusal to remove escrow was because I am now a risk since I refused to make the incorrect payment initially. I have never made a late payment on anything. All my payments are automatically drafted. When I attempted to set up the auto-draft with this company, I refused because the payment was wrong. So their justification to continue to steal from me is due to my refusal to give in to their fraudulent charges.

To clarify, I went 4 months without making a payment. Freedom waived late fees while they attempted to correct the payment issue. I have been called them for months and have offered to pay $675 per month for every month. They have consistently told me my payment would only be applied at $1005 per month even after providing proof of insurance. Also, there was NO forced coverage in place. They were collecting up front as a plan to take over paying for me. They are collecting at a rate almost triple what the insurance costs. I finally gave in and have paid all their scammed money as a ransom to bring payments current while I refinance elsewhere.

This company is a scam. I am now in the process of refinancing other properties to pull equity to pay off this mortgage. I have little faith they will refund me any of the escrow they have been collecting. Avoid this company at all costs before they hold you financially hostage with bogus charges for expenses you already pay and they have no intent on paying.

So I filled out an application with them and after they do a hard pull on my credit they tell me that they don't offer home equity loans. They want to sell me on a new mortgage at 2% higher than my existing mortgage. That's not to mention the nearly $12,000 in Fees and other charges they want us to pay for the loan. Last year Freedom Mortgage paid out my old insurance company and my new. This caused me to have at least 1400.00 in negative equity. Which also led to an increase in my mortgage. Once they paid both I received a letter stating they may have paid both but it is my job to recover the funds. All they do is place a 3-way call with Nsure which are affiliated with Universal Property and after six months nothing has been resolved. All I get is a major run around. I do plan on contacting the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Freedom purchased our original mortgage shortly after we bought our home. Shortly after this they sent information to me letting me know a refinance option was available to a lower rate and a better payment. The rate was lower and the payment was considerably better than what I was paying so I went with it. What I didn't realize was that they estimated my taxes for escrow at 1250 for the year. This was grossly under any estimate for the area where I live. There is no one in our county who pays close to that. They were off in their estimate by roughly 7600 dollars. So of course I am short in my escrow and now owe a little over 9000 dollars to cover the shortage.

Now, I know a person should always read the fine print but this estimate for my taxes was so grossly under any taxes that anyone pays in my area that something just seems fishy. This seems like some sort of tactic used by a mortgage company to get the best of their customers knowing that most probably will not read the fine print. If you can, I would avoid Freedom Mortgage at all cost. At best I would say their business practices are questionable.

I couldn’t get anyone to return my emails. Questions went unanswered. Promises to follow-up on my customer complaints were never followed-up on. Documents that I had already supplied were requested multiple times again.

I kept being told the loan was “conditionally approved” and ready to go to underwriting only to hear nothing for weeks. The biggest indignity? My mortgage was transferred to Freedom recently. On February 19th, I wanted to make a payment for half the March amount due. I was going to make the rest the week after. However, when I made the 700 dollar payment on the website, it went to principal only, which was not what I intended. On February 28th, when I logged on to make the remaining payment, I realized what had happened. I knew it had been applied to principal because it was still showing the full amount due. I called Freedom and they said they could process a refund after 10 days, so call back on the 1st, because that would be the 10th day. (Call 1) March 1st, I called and was told by a man that I would receive the refund in 24-48 hours.

(Call 2) March 3rd, it had been 48 hours and I had not received the refund. I called and spoke to a woman. She said I did not receive the refund because I had not provided my bank account information. Why didn't the man ask me for it on the phone? I gave my bank account info anyway and remained polite and respectful. He made a mistake, no big deal. I was told my refund would arrive in 24 hours. (Call 3) March 4th, I called and spoke to Camille who told me I hadn't received my refund because I hadn't given proof of the transaction leaving my account. Then she said, I see that it was more than 10 days ago, so you won't need proof. I asked what I should do, and she said she didn't know. I asked to speak to a supervisor.

I spoke with Desiree and she told me the same thing. She told me she would work with the dept who processes the refunds and tell them to put it through. She assured me I would have the money in 24 hours maybe the day after. She told me I did NOT need to send proof. She told me my refund would arrive Friday or Saturday, which was 1-2 days from then. I thought it was finally figured out because she was so reassuring on the phone. (Call 4) March 8th, I called and spoke to a man who again requested proof, then again said I do NOT need to send proof because it had been over 10 days. I did not send proof because I was told not to (twice).

(Call 5) March 9th, I received a vm from Beverly but I was at work so I called back. I called twice. Once I spoke to a woman and she said I needed to provide proof. I explained what had been happening and requested to speak to Desiree. No one could find Desiree. I did not have her badge number, that was not their fault. Beverly took a message for her. I asked for a call back in about 40 minutes because I was going into a doctor's appointment.

(Call 6) The second call on March 9th, I was informed Desiree was out of the office that day, and I explained the situation again and asked to speak to a different supervisor. I spoke to Brian **. He said when they told me I did not need to provide proof, that was misinformation. Every time they send the request to the dept that processes refunds, they reject it because there was no proof that the 700 was deducted from my account. Then, I am told repeatedly by customer service, even a manager, that since it has already been 10 days (much longer at this point) I should NOT need to provide proof. I sent proof to Brian and he confirmed he received the email. He said he worked 11-8 the following day and would check on it as soon as he got in, and throughout the day. He said the refund processing usually takes 24 hours.

(Call 7) At this point I had made at least 7 calls and spoken to I think 9 different people, including 2 managers or supervisors. It has been 3 weeks or about 21 days since I made the 700 dollar payment and I have received no refund as promised multiple times. When I call, I am told something different every time. I have not heard from Brian. March 10th, after almost 24 hours, I emailed him again asking for an update. Today is March 11th and I emailed him again this morning.

I would like this issue escalated further. First, I would like a written promise date for my refund to be released to the bank. Then, I would like to find out why I was given misinformation so many times. They even gave me 2 different amounts that I needed to provide proof for. I would like a written promise date, a reason for everything that has happened, and I would like my refund by the end of the day Friday, March 12th. Thank you, Rose.

I was reading the news and could tell that they were quoting rates that were too high and too many requirements. After reluctantly opening a request on LendingTree, I got inundated with lender responses on the first and second day. This turned out to be a good thing. I could immediately tell if I liked their follow up approach. I picked only one lender to call back, J.G. Wentworth. Their followup was a real human, with a calm and professional manner. Every other lender left an automated message.

After speaking with JGW she quickly referred me to a senior lending specialist, Bruce **. Bruce followed up with me as I worked through my doubts and delays. I was constantly busy or traveling and he was polite and persistent with me through the entire process, which was to my benefit. He answered all my questions and concerns over a period of several weeks. It all sounded too good to be true so I was hesitant.

The rate was excellent, the terms were the best, and the whole process was very easy. I was wary of the title company coming to my house to complete the closing but was assured by my accountant it would be okay. Could not have been easier. Thank you, Bruce! I start my new mortgage on the first and am saving twice the amount I had hoped to save after refinancing so all I can say is THANK YOU LendingTree, J.G. Wentworth and BRUCE **. Not knowing any different, the check was made out to me and JG Wentworth. In an effort to resolve the matter, I called JG Wentworth four times in a week and no one could inform me what to do. They would say they would have someone call me back but, I never received anything from them at all.

Finally I called my insurance company and they are making out a new check with the new mortgage company on it. This whole matter could have been resolved a lot faster if first, they had informed my insurance company about selling the mortgage and/or second, they had just simply been courteous enough to return my calls.

Assured us we would be fine to move in early because we were definitely closing and he would pay the difference if we didn't, then ended up costing us an extra $300 for our leaseback, as well as $300 in mobile notary costs that he also said he was paying for.

We were mistaken for other clients, sent information from other clients' accounts pertaining to their houses and purchases, and had a hard time getting in touch with him. On more than one occasion he would tell our agent it was our fault something wasn't on time, and then immediately tell us we were doing fine, it was the lenders or underwriters that didn't know what they were doing. He told us everyone else was messing up but himself. He will tell you everything is fine, it won't be, and he is somehow never to blame.

At one point, Tom called the title company that was handling our account and told their agent that JGW was a bad company, that they couldn't handle him and how big he was. He told them that he had too many clients for a company like JGW to handle and that all of the problems were due to their awful setup. On this same day, he called me to tell me I shouldn't have taken the word of a title company and that I shouldn't be calling his supervisor for help and that all of this was due to the Title company sticking their nose where it doesn't belong.

We were grateful that the Title Co was involved because they were the ones that warned us that we wouldn't be closing that Friday, as promised, or the Monday after that Tom assured us would be fine. Not a single person from JG Wentworth has tried to contact us, to apologize, or attempt to refund us for the notary we paid for after being told it was covered. When I called to get help and to complain about Tom, not one person even attempted to say "I am so sorry" or to comfort or aid us with our issues at all.

I applied for a loan with JG Wentworth, I spoke to Jesse **. He told me that there would be two scenarios based on what the house appraised for. AFTER I received the lower appraisal, he tells me that I need to give them $6000 dollars (I was never told about this beforehand). So now I"m out $485 for the appraisal, thanks for nothing. Don't use these guys, especially not Jesse **.

Mike ** and Russell ** were fantastic. They answered all my questions and returned all my communication in a timely manner. I originally contacted Quicken Loans but was soon upset with there high pressure sales mythology and flood of phone calls that I immediately looked elsewhere. JG Wentworth had high reviews so I decided to contact them. No high pressure to commit and no flood of phone calls. I think I made the best decision to go with JG Wentworth. Plus JG Wentworth's closing cost were substantially less than Quicken Loans.

We refinanced our home, the loan officer (Magali **) was very knowledgeable, responsive, thorough (provided all the needed details to compare between the different options). JG Wentworth had better rates than 5 other competitors. The rates went down after we locked, they respected their word and gave me the new low rate. Closing was also convenient near our home. Would do business with them again anytime.

Overall, I couldn't be happier about how my refi went. Closed on time. Terms were good. But most importantly, there was no hassle whatsoever due to working with Nicole **. From beginning to end, communication was top notch. And it wasn't just communication, there was ample transparency in terms of closing costs. Couldn't have asked for a better loan officer and will definitely recommend to others.

The process took 2.5 months on a simple refi. We had to submit the paperwork multiple times because the website was all screwed up. They could not figure out how to get a digital signature working. We finally canceled when they did not honor the reduced rate after lock promise. Overall, the worst finance company I have ever dealt with and I have owned homes, lake property, vehicles of high value. Never ever again.

I found getting a mortgage with JG Wentworth to be one of the biggest mistake of my life. My home was already paid for (no mortgage), I really wanted a home equity loan however they said they only could offer me a new mortgage. I was reluctant to do this but went ahead because of the need to have money for needed home repairs. The loan officer I had Nick ** was quite bad. Whenever I had a question about something I had to send an email asking him to call me back. Sometimes it would be the next day before I would get a call back from him and that was with me calling him a 2nd time.

The process started in April and I did not get approved until late June. One hand in the company did not know what the other was doing. They also had misinformation that I had to correct on a number of occasions. Amounts were changed, Mr. ** would say he had informed me of information that he had not informed me about. I ended up submitting at least 50 items (if not more) of documentation before they finally approved the mortgage. To add insult to injury my first payment was due Aug. 1, 2019, prior to making my payment I get a letter in the mail saying JG Wentworth had sold my loan to another company. As of now I am in the middle of trying to find out where my additional principal payment is. Stay away from JG Wentworth unless you want to experience a nightmare similar to the one one I had. You don't need the headache and there are more reputable and competent companies out there. Just so sorry I went with them.

For starters, my credit score is about 800, so you'd think an easy process, right? Well, where to begin? I was transferred loan officers in the middle of the process and given bad pricing on how many "points" were agreed to in a refinance. The closing disclosure came back wrong and created an even further delay. I have still yet to close, but am praying it happens in the next few days.

Oh... want to actually talk to someone? Well during the "sales" part of the process, they are SUPER helpful and warm and fuzzy. Once they have you in the process, they don't even bother to reach out. In the last 3 weeks, I have had to initiate every single discussion to understand what is going on and how they plan to fix my issues. Yet still I wait for response. If you still have time, run away as fast as humanly possible!!!
