I got an offer for a Bank of America credit card with an introductory rate of 0.9% for 6 months, given that there were no late payments. After that, the interest would go up according to payment history, etc. I paid every month, on time. On the 6th month, I received a statement saying that my last payment was 2 days late, therefore, my interest was being set at 23.99%. What?

I had mailed in the check 9 days in advance of the due date and told them so. I am totally convinced that they kept my payment until it would be late so they could up my interest. After repeated calls to Bank of America, telling them I know it doesn't take 9 days for a first class letter to go from Michigan to Delaware, they told me to "prove that it arrived on time." I told them to "prove it didn't".

I then informed them that I could not make the higher payment, to which they told me, "Well, you'd better or we will garnish your wages." At that time, I had no wages due to disability and my boyfriend was paying my bills, his bills and supporting our 2 kids. We just didn't have $97.00 a month to spare. After these conversations, which went round and round, I was then given to a lovely man named **. What a jerk.

He threatened, belittled, insulted, and name-called. I was call a 'deadbeat', 'loser', 'burden to society' (WTF! I had been working all my life, starting at the age of 13!) and "People like you are the reason the US is in the state we are in. You think you can just rack up all these bills and not have to pay them. You are going to jail for this, honey." He then proceeded to ask about my disability and I asked him did he have an MD's license.

I repeatedly demanded to speak to his supervisor, to which he replied, "He won't help you. Who do you think trained me?"' Eventually, after a year of harassment from **, I was sent a letter to settle the debt from $4,500 to $1,200. Promptly after I received the letter, ** called and assured me that he didn't make the offer because he wouldn't waste any effort in helping a, "deadbeat like you." I told him I could not come up with that amount in one fell swoop and he asked if I had any friends or family that could loan it to me, and I said no.

He then said, "Oh, I see. They are a bunch of losers like you." This man was an abomination and I want to know if this kind of harassment is even legal. I tried calling the number hoping to get someone else, but as soon as I said my name, I was transferred to him again.

This all started 5 years ago and for the last 2 years, I have not received any letters, collection notices, nothing... until a sheriff arrived at my door with a summon from them. They have not contacted me in 2 years to try and settle this but sure can find my address to serve me. My family has always banked with Bank of America since I can remember. Stupidly, I trusted that they were honest and above consumer fraud, which I fully believe they did. Even if the payment was late, which I know it was not, that still doesn't justify raising the interest to 23.99%.

What a scam. I am totally disgusted with them. The government should demand the bailout money they gave them for failure of proper business practices.

Bank of America and **, you suck! And you people are the reason the country is the way it is today, not me and the other poor suckers you are scamming. If you practiced honest banking, you could save millions on lawsuits, collection agencies and court fees. Duh!

I purchased this plan in the mid 90's to ensure my family would not have to bear financial problems in the event I became unable to pay existing credit card payments. I faithfully paid all the extremely high charges added to my credit card for this protection. I became disabled in the early 2000's and I filed for a claim. Now I am being sued for interest that the insurance company did not honor.

They first keep mailing you checks every week, saying that 0 interest on balance transfer. I was first very cautious about it considering the whole picture of the bad economy. Finally, I decided to do a $15000 transfer. I called a number to confirm. The guy told me he can do it online, you do not have to go to the bank to deposit the check. I agreed and paid $600 transaction fee. Later, I found they charged me at the rate of 17%. I called them, they insist that I do not have promotion on the transaction. Now I have to pay the money back and close the account, no one would borrow money at the rate of 17% these days. But, Bank of America robbed me about $1000 in two months ( $600 plus two months interest).

Same as people above, had about $150 accumulated over past 1 year, I finally noticed it and contacted them. I asked them to credit me for the entire amount as I never signed up for this. They called and I said yes. Keep your word and stick to it and say no you didn't. I get transferred to a supervisor and she offers $30 credit to let it go. You say no and they demand for the proof that you said yes, as they will say they can prove you that you said yes.

I had no call from them for 2 months. I file a fraud investigation via MBNA. I talked to a supervisor again at Infoprotector and she says they will open the investigation which should have been opened 2 months ago, to find the phone record that I said yes.

I got a call today and was reimpursed for the entire $150. So this is a organized and legal scam they are running and they are well prepared to take such calls. It seems they have a policy to handle such calls as they are very common. Stick to your word and demand proof and they will either have to prove the you are wrong or else give you your money back!

Someone stole my identity and BOA accepted my $6000 deposit but they put it into the "other" person's account instead. Finally got that straightened out, but then the "other" person got a credit card under my name too and I filed all the necessary paperwork with the police, etc. However, though BOA wiped out my debt for the credit card in my name they turned the balance over to a collection agency in my name. Now I am getting demand notices for a credit card I never had. I cannot get this "other" me's balance off my credit bureau!

I have been a customer of Bank of America credit card for six months. When I signed up, I noted in my mind their condition of no annual fees. I thought that was good. However, this last month, BoA kept sending me mails after mails saying I should use their "checks" to avoid the annual credit card fees. I wasn't too sure what this was all about and didn't have the time to call and check on this. The mails kept coming. I think I must have received like 4-5 letters on this same topic in less than a month. I finally got convinced that BoA credit condition was going to change and I might have to start paying annual fees. So I used their enclosed check to pay for my rent which I normally just have deducted from my checking account.

Today, I find this steep 'check transaction fee' being charged from my credit card. I called their customer service center to find this simple and totally not customer service answer, "Ma'am, we wrote it in those fine prints that there is going to be this transaction fee so we cannot waive the fee for you or even cancel that payment. By the way, we know we sent you all those mails about you having to avoid the annual credit card fees but actually you already signed up under a no-annual-fee condition so you just needed to ignore those mails because they were meant for other groups of customers. Thank you for your business with Bank of America and have a good day."

Right, have a good day? That was very unprofessional of them. I am a busy professional who do not have the time to read all that fine print. If your bank keeps sending you personalized mails after another, what are you supposed to think? Why do Bank of America send mails out to all their customers about the things that do not apply to them? My belief is that you can expect your bank to actually communicate to you versus just sending you junk mails. Apparently, I was wrong. Thank you, Bank of America. Keep doing what you do. You have just lost another customer.

Last year, I ran up both BOA cards for $120,000 for some great investments. I paid them off in full, with no delinquency. BOA immediately dropped personal card credit limit to $3,000. Thanks, guys. So that's how you are. I ran up the remaining card to $70,000. I started paying down again. First $4,000, then the balance in the next month or two. As soon as I made that first payment, BOA closed both accounts, and demanded payment in full. Again, no delinquency, no warning. This kind of decision making boggles my mind, and makes me quite angry.

I still owe $65,000. Maybe I'll go delinquent for the first time, and let them beg for money. I can pay it, but you can't get any attention, unless you ** with their money. Yes, they can ** with my credit score, but at my age I don't really care. I had a minor issue with bounced transaction. I switched over to another account.

I have a credit card account with Bank of America. I used the card for services from an online training company. The training was supposed to be for about 8 weeks, everyday for 1 hour. Along with that, when I registered for the training, the company in the receipt mentioned a satisfaction guarantee, or they will refund the money. After being in the training for 3 weeks, I was still not provided access to the training material. Also, the company that was providing the training disappeared. I tried contacting them numerous times through phone, as well as email, without any response.

I then initiated the dispute. The bank was willing to start the dispute, but during the dispute process, they did not contact me or ask me for my side of proof, which I could provide, and afterwards, they contacted me and said that the dispute is resolved in the vendor's favor. My issue is that in a dispute, both the parties has to present their case or proof, before you resolve the dispute. How can you resolve a dispute, with involving just one side, without contacting the other party for proof, as to why I am disputing the charge. In the meantime during the dispute, I went with another vendor, and received the training. My account was charged by the disputed vendor. I ended up paying twice for a service, which i should have paid for once.

I have perfect credit history with B of A. I have 9 mortgages, 2 credit cards and a checking account. I have never missed or been late with any payment to B of A. I have never bounced a check or over drafted my account. I called and asked if my interest rate on my credit card could be reduced from the 10.99% I am currently being charged. They told me they would have to run my credit in order to make a decision. After running my credit, they saw that I am behind on several mortgages (none B of A) because I am in the process of loan modification. They retroactively lowered the line on one card by $9,200 and cancelled the other card. I am paying $2,000 off my card every month and am paying over $3,500 in principal payments on my mortgages and they are worried about me being a credit risk, come on. I am also a B of A Stockholder. Now, I know why my stock has lost so much.

I am an active online banker with BoA. As a protection to my checking account, I probably use their line of credit 2-3 times a year. I always pay it off immediately when I see a balance on the Account Overview screen. Now, who would think that over several months, a balance is quietly growing, interest charged that does not show itself on the Account Overview screen. Ding! My Excellent rating on my credit report is now down to a good, dinged 100 points due to what started out being 60 cents becoming $9 over time delinquent.

I consider that a complete act of fraud if it shows me I owe them nothing. And get this. The guy I spoke to today said that there is a notice on the site (couldn't find it) that says that figures may not be accurate. So for what? 4 months inaccurate? Give me a break. They said they recognized the problem with the AO screen and said they would fix it. Then they said today sorry, it wasn't their fault. Tough luck lady.

I have been married for one month now. I called BoA to ask for a new card with my new name on it. All that is needed to be done, was print a new card! Unlike other credit card companies who congratulated me, they did no such thing, and if anything, were rude and not helpful. She proceeded to run my credit. I did not give any consent for her to do so. I don't think it is necessary to run my credit again. I pay my bill on time each month, and there are no problems. I even received a credit line increase in the beginning of this year! However, she told me that they were cancelling my account, and wanted to know exactly why I was late on two car payments this year? And because of this, they would no longer keep my account open!

I work, take care of my 2 year old son, go to school finishing my master's degree in education, and am a productive member of society. My husband is an active duty military, defending our country, yet I can't even have a credit card. That is pretty sad. Obviously BoA does not care about its customers, and will just cancel you without any attempt to help you. I will now close my checking/savings account, as well as my son's savings account with them. I hope they go under, and I hope everyone else heeds my warning, and does not do business with them. They do not know what customer service means. They just went ahead and closed my account.

Calistoga, CA BoA. I went to apply for a secured card. How long will it be before I can use the money? 5-7 business days? Wrong. "Someone" ordered a second card, sent to the house, the bank could not explain why, maybe an employee "pushed the wrong button"? What? I made a payment on 12/8/11 taken from my bank, "applied" to my account, but I was not able to use funds. BoA's reason was a) I had used an "access check". No, I hadn't; b) "Fraud protection" was a third party holding funds and on and on.

I attempted on 12/15/11 to pay the vet $58 bill. Zero balance on my secured account, credit line $300 declined! How embarrassing. I spent hours on the phone, in the branch, and was promised funds would be available following day. They were not. I closed the account. The bank staff wrongly informed me that my credit would not have another "hit", wrong again. The Calistoga branch needs to be trained as to their product and rules.

I purchased tickets on British Airways US web site with the BOA Credit Card and I got a foreign transaction fee (3%). The Bank of America fraud department declined the transaction at first and called me to confirm that I was making the charge but did not mention that the transaction was being made out of London and that a 3% fee will be charged. I called BOA and requested to add to my account profile to decline transactions processed outside the USA. BOA told me that such option is not available and that there is no way for them to know where the transaction is being processed until the fee is charged since it is done automatically. I believe consumers should have the right to know when a transaction fee is expected and to have the choice to decline such transaction. This is not beneficial for the credit card company since they are probably making a lot of money of unsuspected consumers such as myself. When I requested BOA CC an e-mail address or mailing address to provide my suggestion/feedback, I was told there was none.

Please check this page again after your next statement closing date." I have been using this online statement service for months now and it is not "new." BofA, through their chat room (Connor), offered to send the statement by mail; however, by the time it arrives, I will most likely be late for my payment. I am attempting to redeem my struggling credit after my divorce. I have attempted to keep up with the ridiculous fees I was incurring with my BOA credit card. It got to the point that it no longer made sense to do this, because there was no way I could get ahead and pay down the balance. I decided to turn to professional help with credit card consolidation, to get my credit back on track. I had previously spoken to BOA about making a monthly payment, and authorizing said payment, by giving them my checking account number for a specific future date.

Immediately after joining the credit consolidation program, I called BOA, and revoked the right for them to take the future payment set for withdrawal in 3 days. They said they were making a note, that I was stopping payment on the account because of consolidation. I thought the matter was taken care of and hung up the phone. I was told that paperwork would be sent to BOA from my consolidation company, which it was.

Days after my conversation revoking BOA's permission to take a $400 monthly payment from my checking, BOA took the payment anyway. I contacted BOA and told them what happened, and they said it would take 3-5 business days for the money to go back into my account. Once those business days passed and the money was still was not returned, I contacted BOA again. I was told this issue went to a special dispute division, and it would actually take 7-10 business days for the money to be returned, but it was pending, that my money would indeed, be returned to me.

Ten days later, the money still wasn't there. When I called BOA, they told me it was denied, because I was over my account balance. They completely disregarded the fact that they were no longer authorized to take the money from my checking account in the first place. I am calling BOA back, and speaking to a supervisor, and I would like to know what legal action, if any, I have the right to take. The consequences right now are that, I am out $400 that BOA doesn't plan on returning to me, while I'm trying to do the right thing, and get my credit back on track.

We intend to pay off the balance before the end of year and had we kept the balance with American Express, we would have incurred lower fees in interest. I would have never agreed to this had I known there was a fee. I even asked if there were fees associated with an early pay off and was told there were no fees associated to the transfer.

I spoke to three different people at B of A tonight and no one is willing to reverse the fee. I had a balance which I had to pay and the customer service representative said the account was closed. But when I checked the account, there’s a service fee charged and the reason was that I used the card on the 5th of April (service fees was charged on 21st of April). Bank of America told me that I have to pay a yearly service fee even if I want to cancel the account.

It is my view as a customer that if you do not like a service, then you have all the right not to go on it with. What I do not understand is why the bank does not admit that it was their fault that they did not inform me about the "service fee" on top of the balance that I had to pay when I closed my account. Alas! I thought my account was closed after the customer service representative told me, “Thank you for your business with Bank of America since 2006.”

This is for Mr. Andrew ** of Bank of America El Toro-Trabuco Banking Center branch. This letter is to express my disappointment and the embarrassment you have created me. Your customer service is not acceptable to the way you treated Mrs. ** that was with me to cash out my check from your bank branch on Monday, October 17. You were rude. You disrespected me by refusing to cash out my credit card check that was prior approved by the credit department.

The contract agreement to cash out the check does not specify that Mrs. ** could not cash out the check. You asked Mrs. ** if she had account with Bank of America. Because she said no, you simply denied cashing out my check. And you told her that you would not give her the money unless she would open an account with you. That sounds like distortion to my point of view. Furthermore, you made me sign the check to myself, so the bank would charge me 19% of interest instead of the 0% of interest. To make it clear, the check has contract of promotional rates that does not specify that Mrs. ** could not cash out the check. You made your own rules by preventing her to obtain the money.

You knew my repeated conversation with the credit card department and the approval I got. I called them (credit card department) on Friday, Saturday, and Monday prior to flying out to Orange County from San Francisco. I was 100% sure that it was approved. And I was told that all I had to do was to go with Mrs. ** to the bank and sign the check to her name, so she would cash out the money. Instead, you manipulated the conversation repeatedly. You told me to sign the check to my name so I could cash out the check or force Mrs. ** to open an account to cash out the check. You also told her to go to her other bank if she didn't want to open an account with you and cash out the check at her bank. You knew that she needed the money immediately. You told her that her bank would cash it out, which was not entirely true. It usually takes few days for the other bank to process the check.

Yesterday (Wednesday, October 16) I once again called the credit card department and spoke with the supervisor. To my surprise, he said that you could cash the check out to Mrs. **. Whatever motivation you had to act in such disrespectful, abusive, and a non-professional way, I feel that it is not acceptable. I am with the Bank of America as customer for many years. I will report you to higher authorities and make sure this e-mail will be delivered to the TV media (7 on my side and CBS customer care).

I wasted time and was embarrassed. And you took advantage of me by making me sign a check to my name so I would pay higher interest, knowing that I needed the money since I traveled from so far to purchase a car there in Orange County. It was all explained before to the credit department and approved prior to my trip. Despite the attempt I made to show you the contract of promotional rates from Bank of America of 0% interest of cashing out money, you made no interest to read. You pushed it away from your desk towards me by giving it back to me and ignoring to read it. The conclusion is that you violated the Bank of America promotion of lower interest. I have two Bank of America credit cards. One of these cards (Card 1) was paid off in full, and the other (Card 2) had a large balance on it that was a balance transfer (I have been making payments on it). Someone who had access to my home took Card 2 for a short time and used it without my knowledge or consent. He then returned this card, probably after finding out that the card was nearly maxed out. But he took Card 1 and began to use it, also without my knowledge or consent.

Somehow, the thief, being a computer wiz (and also having built my computer), got into my account online for Card 1 and changed the billing to online only. Since I had this card paid off, and wasn't receiving a bill, I had no way to know that he was using it. I finally received a letter from BOA almost a year later, informing me of some suspicious activity on my account. It was when I called regarding this letter that I found out that the card had been stolen and used, with a balance of over $4,000. I told them that I had never used the card and that it had been paid off.

When I found out later that week who was the probable thief, I contacted BOA and they said that they would look into it. They later told me that because the card activity was in my area, and that the payments had been made from my checking account, they were not going to recognize it as fraud. Yes, I also found out that the thief had obtained my checking account information from a check that I had paid him for computer service, and had been making phone payments to the card he took and was using.

This allowed him to use the card for a longer period before being caught. If payments hadn't been made, the card would have been frozen by BOA. A police report was filed--the police followed up and received a confession from the card thief. I informed BOA of this confession, but they still refused to accept this as fraud. I have spent many hours speaking to associates of BOA, sometimes thinking, after I have spoken to an individual, that this will finally be recognized as fraud--but the answer is always no.

Most often, I have spoken to associates who were very rude to me and made rude statements before they even looked at the history of conversations that had taken place regarding the fraudulent use of this card. I was told that the police department had to call them, and they provided me with a phone number that was for "law enforcement only." I provided the detective on the case with this number, who later told me that he had tried every day for a week to reach someone using this number. But each time he called, the person he needed to talk to was not available at that time.

He did this every day for another week. A few weeks later, he got the same results. Each time he was told this by a BOA fraud department associate, he was told that the person that he needed to speak to would return his call. But none of his calls were ever returned. In the meantime, late fees and interest continue to pile on top of the original fraudulent charges, making the current balance over $5,000. Hopefully, this incident is not ruining my credit. I did go through the necessary things with the credit bureau when I found out about this fraud, so, hopefully, they keep any complaints from BOA separate and they won't affect my credit.

Hello, my name is Michelle **. I have a visa debit card with Bank of America. I lost my card and reported it lost and stolen on September 26 through the automated system. I believe then on September 28th, I noticed it overdrawn with $21.50 and $2.00 removed. I was watching my account because I was waiting for a new card. I immediately called again to Bank of America to speak to live representative. I verified that they received my request for a new card. She advised they did. I asked to change my account number, because I don't know how they managed to take money out. She told me that my debit card number is different now and will be coming in mail, that it's not needed. Then, she transferred me to the department for me to dispute charges and withdrawals.

They said they will investigate. Well, I never received credit, which they suggested that I would get, or any mailing from them for me to sign. I did not realize it because like they said, my account is okay, there's no need to change bank account number. On October 16th, 2011, I got an email alert from Bank of America that read my account fell under 25.00 dollars. My stomach is sick because I knew something had to be wrong. What I feared happened, because my account number was not changed as requested. Both my child support check and job check were gone.

I called them yesterday, on 10-15-11, to hear that they don't know why I have a negative $999.00 on my account. I called back again. I got a different call center in England. The supervisor told me that someone deposited a fake money order in my account and I'm liable to pay the money back. And my checks that I deposited went to paying some of the money. I need help. I have to talk to someone tomorrow Monday when they are open. I thought I was protected. The bank failed me. The visa logo got to stand for something. The man from Bank of America said that's a scam that's happening. I can be reached at **. Please reach out to me. I feel this is the bank's fault. I paid bills and I did not know that this was not my money.

I had transferred a balance over to my Bank of America credit card when they offered me 3.9% financing for life. I had always paid on time and I have stellar credit. After a month, Bank of America processed my payment (online payment) for the entire amount of the account instead of the monthly payment. Of course, I did not have this amount in my checking account so it bounced. Bank of America said that I entered the entire amount into the payment box. I assured them that there was no possible way for me to enter the full amount in the box. It was the only time that I did not keep a record of my payment. I called them immediately when I saw what had happened. Everyone I dealt with said something different. Then they raised my rate (of course). I believe that Bank of America entered the amount fraudulently so that they could raise my rate. If anyone else has had this same problem, please post.

I had a credit issued by Wachovia in the mid 1990's. The card had a 3.90% fixed APR with a $100 annual fee in lieu of a higher interest rate. The card was subsequently taken over by MBNA. I never had any problems with this card until Bank of America got this card in the late 2000, perhaps 2007 or so.

I always made my payments on time and kept a balance on this card because of the low interest rate. Bank of America then changed the terms of my account to a variable interest, which at the time made it 19.99% and kept the $100 annual fee. They never gave me a chance to opt out and pay the balance off under current terms as required by law.

I had at least 3 disputes filed against my statement, which they never responded to. They also began to harass me, in my opinion. I raised a big stink about it with online customer service, as well as phone customer service. They also began to harass me, in my opinion.

They did this primarily by disabling my ability to pay online, resulting in my getting charged late fees. I went to sign on to pay and they had disabled it. Another tactic they used was to purge my payment account information. Sometimes when I would sign on, they would have purged my checking account information and I was unable to pay.

I finally got fed up and just angry and told them I would not pay the balance if they did not address the issues. I have it all documented, including copies of my mailing receipts for the disputes and even screenshots on the disabled online payment screen. Needless to say, they never addressed the issues and I stuck to my guns and didn't pay, thus resulting in a charge off of the account.

I told them I couldn't afford this high payment, that I was barely making ends meet. They would not budge. So each month, the money is taken out of my checking account.

Recently, I was told that instead of paying back a credit card, I'm paying on a loan. The statements reflect the credit card with a credit limit of $7,000. I'm in my 28th month of the the 60 months and there is no way this is going to be paid off in 5 years. I thought they could at least do a Balance Liquidation program with a lower payment and 0% APR. I don't know what kind of program turns a credit card into a loan to help pay a debt off. Their Credit Counseling wanted $269 a month which was worse and I didn't go through that.

The kind of business that they are conducting seems to come from someone who does not care about people at all. The people that run "BOA" seem to be trained by our enemies so that little by little the American people will feel so hopeless that they can't even count on their credit when paper money is not available. I can't even remember when I opened my first account with BOA, but it was a long time ago. They were the nicest people. My credit was great and I had just started my first job.

As the years went by and things changed, as with many people such as divorce, loss of wages, etc., I keep paying at least the minimum. This last year, I was able to pay off the balance on one of my BOA credit cards and guess what, they closed my account. They stated that they, the people in BOA, take a proactive approach to reviewing their customers' accounts which includes an assessment of account history, current economic trends, and a copy of the credit report. They used TransUnion's credit score and stated that since my account has been inactive and I had a serious delinquency or collection filed, they would no longer authorize any further transactions. And that was that. I have 4 negative marks in my credit report, which is a lot less than a lot of people I know. In addition, if they are using that against me, why didn't they close my other BOA credit card? I truly believe that we don't need terrorists to do damage Americans because these credit card company's are already destroying Americans a little at a time!

I am writing this letter to dispute about the recent credit report that I viewed where I came to know that I have a default in the payment associated with my Bank of America Secure Credit card, which amounted to $30. It was charged by Bank of America (BOA) as an Annual Fee.

I came to the US on September 2006 and opened my first credit card which was a secure credit card from Bank of America during that year. I just used this credit card only for few months upon the time I opened it as I was able to get other credit cards which were not of secured credit type and had better rewards option when used. I have had contacted the Bank of America Credit Card Department to close this credit card over the phone some years back. I was astonished when I received a bill for annual credit card payment during Dec 2010 and it had surprised me since they never closed this credit card account. I did pay the annual fee during that time period. I immediately contacted the customer department to cancel this credit card as I was never using this credit card except for the first few months of my opening during the year 2006.

After that, I never received any correspondence from Bank of America about the annual credit card payment for the year 2011 and I was surprised when I pulled my credit report that there was a default in my payment for few months of the attached credit report of mine. I went to the Bank of America and contacted the BOA representative and reported this issue with him on July 21st 2011. When I spoke to somebody from BOA over phone a day before, I was told that the mistake is on my side and that I need to pay the annual fee. I told them that I have had closed this account long time back. I then transferred $600 to the credit card even though the payment was only $30 just to make sure that I don't have any more lingering issues emanating from this card. I did this as I wanted to make sure that I have more than the required amount since the closing process from BOA was not working and that they had some issues from Customer Support not updating the phone call I made to cancel this credit card.

On July 21st, I officially got my secured credit card unlinked from the BOA and then they closed this credit card account from my online account in the presence of BOA Staff. I was told on that day that my account was long time closed but what was surprising was that this credit card was still showing active to my online account. A case was opened with BOA which goes by ** to track about the issue. I never got a copy from BOA Staff stating what he has understood from the issue and that I reported from Bank of America failing to close this account two years back. I never got any annual fee invoice from them for the year 2011 and it was my understanding that this account was closed one year back based upon the telephone call I have with the Bank of America Customer Credit Department.

This reporting has seriously affected my credit score and I want to make sure that I get the fair judgment from your department to help resolve this issue. What was a mistake from BOA had resulted in destroying my credit score and I am disputing it though your honorary to get this issue resolved. I wanted to get the $30 that I paid during the year 2010 in spite of me closing this account before that year started.

In February 2011, I received a notice that due to "late payments and a poor credit history," my BoA credit card would have an annual fee as of April 2011. I immediately called because I had never had a late payment, I do not have poor or high risk credit, and I was really angry. I spoke with a regular CS rep who informed me that the notice "accidentally" went out with the information about late payments and poor credit to everyone but it did not apply to me. In fact, I didn't have any late payments with BoA but due to a "high balance" and the "kind of card I had," I was going to have the annual fee applied.

I spoke with a supervisor who advised me that "nothing could be done. I could either opt out and pay off the card in time or keep the card and be charged the fee." I specifically asked if I closed the account, "the fee would not be assessed, correct?" I was told, "yes, that is correct." Yesterday, I checked my April statement and noticed that an annual fee had been applied.

I again immediately called and was informed by the CS rep that "last month, another notice was sent out that had informed customers that BoA had decided to change the policy and if you carry a balance, regardless of opting out, you would be charged an annual fee." I explained to her that I opted out prior to this new notice, which I never received, and I was informed that I would not be charged the fee in February 2011. She apparently reviewed my notes and/or tape. She told me that, "the supervisor had incorrectly put the opt-out in the system and I would still be charged."

I explained that his incompetence was not my problem and according to the Card Act of 2009, if I opted out, I had five years under the original terms to pay off the card. It took her several minutes to review the case and then came back telling me that since I had opted out when I received the first notice, they would remove the fee for this year. She notated in the system what had happened and I will just have to call every year in April to have the annual fee reviewed and hopefully removed until the card is paid off. This not only poor business practice but also illegal.

I tried to settle the account or get all the interest off but it was no good. I am now disabled and well, the protection I paid for never worked and I never got reimbursed.

Paid credit card account late, due to decrease in income. They put us on a reduced payment program, but we were still a few months behind. On March 15th, and March 29th we made payments that brought our account current. However, they have still not updated this information with the credit bureaus. It shows 120 days past due on credit report. I called BOA and was told this information would update the last day of the month (3/31), but it never happened. Called again and asked to speak to a manager. No one was available so they had one call me back.

I got a call the next day and explained the situation again. The manager said that it would update once a month after the billing cycle ends (which was 4/10). It is now 4/14 and still no updates. However they did randomly give credit report updates on 3/1/11 and 3/17/11 with negative information of past due amounts. They also said that the information was submitted and it could take up to 45 days for the credit reporting agencies to pull the information. I called Equifax and Transunion and was told that was absolutely incorrect. They said once the credit card company reports, it is updated in 24-48 hours max. Please help us resolve this.

Along with our new BankAmericard credit card, Bank of America mailed two pre-printed checks - with our names, address, and account number - to encourage us into making a cash advance loan. What is outrageous and negligent of them, given the risk of identity theft from information in the postal system, is they prominently displayed "Your PIN for cash access is: XXXX" next to the blank checks.

Private information which could be used by identity thieves was sent through the mail. Inclusion of our cash access PIN was negligent and unnecessary exposure to identity theft criminals.

I fell behind a couple of months in payments to my credit card with Bank of America due to being laid off. We paid off some of our debt with savings, and realigned our budget, which would get us back on track.

When we went to Bank of America online where we make our payments, our account was disabled. We could see charges, but could not pay on our account. There were two months of late charges (which we understand and agree they are due those charges), and two months of charges that were applied when we were blocked from our account (which we feel are unreasonable). If they want us to pay, why block our ability to pay? If we are blocked from making payments, how can they justify the charges?

I talked to a Bank of America associate to work out payment arrangements, and I agreed to the first two charges (after all we were late), but asked to have the other two removed, because we being charged while they had our account blocked. They refused. It's their policy.

After I spent a total over $100 on Shell and receiving the January 2011 bill, I didn't see the credit, so I called BA customer services. They said they don't know anything about this promotion offer and they don't have any information either. After I spoke with a few different customers rep. in different dates, finally a lady, who claims herself as the manager there, said she will call me after she finds out something, but I never received her call. A week later, I received a letter from Bank of America saying they are going to close my account.

I called BA and they said they can't issue me any credit because my account was closed. I'm really surprised and don't understand why BA closed my account. I have had this credit card since 1997, and I'm never paying late or don't pay, besides, I have excellent credit history too. I'm wondering is this something a giant credit card issuer should do.

They told me they never received it. I faxed it 2 more times. They finally said that they received it. That was a month after the original fax. Ever since then, they've been requesting one thing after the other. I've given them more than enough information and it's something else. Most recently, I just received a letter stating that they needed my employer to complete one section. However, they told me that if they received the info from the work number showing that I was full time and my termination date, it would suffice.

I spent another 3 hours working on trying to get this info by calling them. I was getting the correct fax number again. I was told that this information was exactly what they needed. They said that it has to be reviewed so that it can be activated. I waited another week. I called them and they said they have everything. It took 7-10 business days before it was activated. I called again. They said, “Yeah, it looks fine.” They have everything they need, but the activation has to activate, so give it a few more days. Two weeks later, I received a letter stating that they now need the employer to show that I was a full time employee, working the last 30 days. They said that the info was missing or my pre-printed name was not on the documentation received and they can't accept handwritten names. I went through the same nonsense with Discover, Amex and my vehicle loan protection.

I have had a secured credit card with Bank of America since 2007. When I opened the account and gave a deposit of $1,000, I was promised that after a year of keeping my account in good standing, the deposit will be refunded and my credit card would go into an unsecured status. This was a means for me to reestablish my credit. But that has yet to happen; they have not kept their end of the deal. Since 2007, I have only been late twice.

I have called on three different occasions to request that the account be put into an unsecured status, and every time I get a different story. When I call they say that it is because you will need not to have a late payment in 12 months. Well, I had two late payments back in November of 2009 since 2007. But what happened with the account being in good credit standing prior to November of 2009? The account was opened in 2007 and they said a year, and how about now? What happened to the account being in good standing since November 2009 until present? But yet, they are charging me interest at 14.24% on balances and 19.24% on cash advances on my own money. This is not money that the bank has credit to me, this is my own money.

It must be nice. I think they like it better this way. I am paying them interest on money I have never borrowed from them, and plus they get to charge late payment fees on your own money if your are late paying back your own money. They get the best of both worlds. What a rip off that is.

This is why I think they have prolonged this for so many years. I mean if you think about it, I have been paying them interest on my own money since 2007. They have profit from money that is not theirs to begin with. Why would they charge it to an unsecured credit card when they can milk it for as long as they want? I opened 4 accounts with Bank Of America back in 2007 and had to close almost all of them because of their game with overdraft bank charges and how ridiculous they are.

Now I am down to two which includes this credit card. Needless to say, I will soon be closing them as well. The only reason why I have not closed the credit card is because I was told that it could hurt my credit rating. I am glad everyone is out here talking about the issues with Bank of America because it is very unfair and I can clearly see from my internet research that I am not the only one complaining.

On 2009-02-18, I filed a complaint about Bank of America Credit Card Services, B of A checking account. My complaint was and still is the bank had informed me my monthly payment was going to increase in a month or so stated I made late payments. The only way to pay my payments was my VA Disab. check I would not be able to pay that amount. What followed was 2 months of asking the bank to work with me or if there was any program. The first 2 months the answer was No. When there really had been all along. So by the time it was offered, I was behind a month.

So I joined in Aug 07. Paid 2 program payments. In the 2nd month, I got no payments letters, late payment, and my letter of acceptance to program. Payments had to be setup on automatic withdrawal and had been day one. I checked the first 2 months to make sure it had been done. Thinking it was okay didn't keep tabs its in the first version.

When payments were setup, it was for 1 a month. On the first month that I didn't check, is when the bank took 2 payments resulting in not enough money to pay, fees and charges. So 6 months of payments and the remaining that was to be in my account was gone. In the sixth month when the error was found and not my fault all that was given back was just the fees and the money taken that they had no permission to do!

Just last month I found out about the Comp Controllers Office and filed a complaint in which the bank is informed to contact me. They did to let me know they were going to review and call again. Before I could get my records together from 3 years back, they called. He went over what had been returned and added that I had caused the problem by depositing bad checks in my own account that I didn't have checks for. In the beginning of his review, he referred to my setup payment as a check. Then I let him know it was a wired payment and I didn't write checks. It was my VA Direct Deposit. I guess he did not even hear that and in his version when the bank took money they were not supposed to, it didn't matter because I probably didn't have enough in my acct to begin with.

Oh, another thing he pointed out was the bank having returned the fees and the withdraw meant no harm no foul. It made no difference that it was returned 6 months after and caused the shortage of money in my account and snowballed all the rest. He had crunched the numbers at least twice and so had two others. Back in 08 when the mistake was found by the one person that bothered to check then, his supervisor and a third was not official. In 08 the bank had claimed I authorized it what happened was I got a call that again payment was late and asked me for a fee. I could not or did not have the money. Most important I was on a payment program already, 2 payments were made and the bank had got the money.

So I was not late or behind. There was no reason for it. After it was checked by that person, I was on a program but a paper mistake on their end. She asked if I could try and still pay it. Again I could not and mistake not my concern she ended call. Well there was no record of the call the man said so what I said could be true or couldn't be true. In turn, if the bank wanted me to pay for there mistake, giving me some story, hoping I would agree, why didn't they record it?

So in this man's mind he told me, as a courtesy, the bank went along with your version. When it was my turn to give my facts, I began with on my copy of checking account details I have a + balance a week prior to my VA deposit and I did not have any activity before the bank messed it up and the entire 6 months it was in error. He was not going to hear any more. I was to blame wrote bad checks and did not understand what he had explained already the bank didn't owe me a penny that is what he would report to the OCC.

No it's more the other way around and I hung up. So being PO'd that I had been called stupid and I wrote bad checks to myself, I found all my records again. Going through them I found some things I missed. The bank gave back the fees on my checking account but the $48 taken out of my account they say was repaid after 6 months and put in my checking really was not as I will show .When I started this program I was given a lower payment, lower interest, payments are setup and credit card account use is frozen late payments prior to program are no more.

Any missed payments after are not charged fees until after 3 unpaid months. A Missed payment is forwarded to the next payment and due. Well in order for me to get on program, I had to agree to pay fees for the month before. My payment amount on plan agreement is $10 less than what I was paying. I had to agree to pay for the fees before I got the plan rules in writing.

Then it does not say anything about the extra $10 in writing. Those are rules broken (fees prior to plan are zeroed). When the bank took out the money that caused the account to be short. The 1st payment missed was not forwarded to the next due date and fees were added. The bank also resubmitted for payment within a couple of days. Adding more fees and the amount the account was behind.

After 6 months just fees were returned I was not able to use it. The money went towards the missed payments including an additional $335 of mine out of pocket I had to make up on payments. From March 2008 to 6 April 2008 $515 in payments were paid to the card. I lost more than 6 VA deposits. Now I had to hear it all again from this B of A guy telling me its my fault. Adding now I wrote bad checks to myself and calling me stupid.

The cherry on top is the so called returned $48. Two days after the bank put that money in my Checking Account. It appears on my Credit Card Summary and The Credit Card Statement for that billing cycle. That is reflected in the dollar amounts as well as a purchase raising the balance. There is nothing that can be said that someone that has authority added this to a account that is frozen! I have to wait till the bank sends there review saying they do not owe me anything! I know this man is going to add something to try and make me look bad also assert that he went through the figures and assure that it is correct. then the truth and proof I will send.

But what still is wrong is the bank is shown as wrong it really is no harm no foul and just a mistake. This bank needs to be punished! These are not mistakes This is planned by them! They are screwing people at will and oh well if they return fees. They made off with 2 or 3 times that. The person that added the money to my card after the bank said returned my money. That is not business that is spite and they made it personal! That is not just wrong. It's ** up!

I have been a Bank of America's customer for the past seven years. Earlier this year, I got a Bank of America credit card. The first month, when I got my statement, I went online to my home banking and I scheduled my payment online. A few days after the payment was due, mint.com sent me an alert about a bank fee charge. Surprised, I went and checked online and found out that the payment scheduled was never done. I called Bank of America home banking and they told me that they were having some technical issues with the online payment scheduling.

They informed me that they were going to make the transfer and that they were sorry about the mistake and inconvenience to me. One month later, exactly the same story. Bank of America apologized again. One month later, same story once again. In sum, three months of technical issues with your online payment scheduling.

Dissatisfied, I closed the card and the account in August. I requested to transfer any eventual outstanding credit balance to my Bank of America account and close it immediately.

After not hearing from Bank of America for months, I thought all was good until last week. I discovered a delinquency in my credit report, due to a balance of $41.00 with Bank of America. I immediately paid off the balance via phone, and called your Customer Service to rectify this error made on your part. Your Customer Service, however, was unable to assist me and simply told me to contact the credit agencies to dispute the delinquency. My credit score was at 750 and now has been reduced to 640 solely because of this error.

I opened a Bank of America credit card line 10 months ago, strictly for a balance transfer. I am someone who always pays their monthly bills ahead of time and therefore, when 30 days later my previous credit card still did not have a check from Bank of America for the balance transfer. I begin to get antsy as it was time to make the next month's payment (in my book). I should have seen the red flags then as when I called to inquire as to when I could expect the balance transfer. Check the attitude I received from the representative was essentially "It'll get there when it gets there". I was informed it could be anywhere from 30-90 days. Nothing of this time frame was noted in the transfer agreement, and I have never experienced a 3 month wait for a balance transfer once the card is approved.

60 days later, I did indeed finally get my balance transfer check to my old credit line, but still had not received the physical card. Another 30 days later, the card finally arrives. For 8 months, all is status quo: as stated, I always make my payments early and do them online. Every month, on the same day of the month I would pay $200 towards the balance knowing it would be paid off before the promotional interest rate had expired. In September, I was doing my typical double-checking of my accounts and noticed some strange activity on my Bank of America card including a notice of a "returned check". I immediately called them and they stated this was my monthly 200 dollar payment and that it had not gone through; baffled, I asked if they had a reason statement and they said they did not/could not tell me and to call my bank [that I had the checking account with].

I call Chase and the agent tells me they have no record of the payment at all nonetheless a rejection of it. Thus, round robin ensues of me going back and forth between Bank of America and Chase as they volley me back and forth. I speak to Managers at both banks and it is clear Chase never received the payment request. After about 6 phone calls and two days later, I finally receive an agent at Bank of America that will tell me *something*. She gives me the reason statement on the "check" rejection and it long story short it Bank of America claims that there was either a legal dispute or change of accounts. (Neither of which happened.)

I go up the chain again and a very rude billing manager tells me I have the wrong (checking) account number logged in their ebill system and that is why the payment did not go through. I explain slowly that I did not nor would I have changed my account information on the Bank of America website and that I am concerned there may be a security issue given that I was making these payments in the same fashion every month, on the same day and had never changed anything. She was very condescending stated that there was no possible way anyone could have changed my account information, but me: i.e. the system was perfect and it was my fault.

The next day, I see I have been hit with multiple "return check fees" from Bank of America. Never mind, no one can tell me what happened, never mind I have never had a late payment, and never mind that the bill for that month wasn't even due yet. They were going to squeeze what they could out of me for their mistake. After some wrangling and arguing and getting one reasonable agent who removes the fees, I decide I just want to be done with this card and will pay it off and close it. In the 24 hours, I have made this choice they have slapped me with another returned check fee. I call again, argue again, get treated probably more rudely by a phone agent than I ever have in my life who keeps raising her voice and talking over me at which point I once again ask for Manager. Once again I get treated with ambivalence and with reluctance the Manager removes the second set of returned check fees.

I pay off the full balance and close the card. Or so I thought. Thankfully, I am pretty suspicious at this point of them doing anything right, so I check on the card 48 hours later (they told me 24 hours to close the account), and surprise, surprise! The card is not closed. I call back again: the agent tells me yes, indeed they took my money (as it was already debited from my checking account I knew this, but good to know they acknowledged the payment this time) and that the request for account closure is there and frankly he has no idea why the account was still open. He puts in another request to close the account and swears up and down it should close this time. I confirm with him regarding the 24 hours and that is in fact "business" hours and as this was a Thursday.

I wait until Tuesday before checking up on the account. Tuesday, I am cautiously hopeful as it appears the account is finally closed. Then today, I get an account notice from Bank of America that I have a balance on the card that needs to be paid off from a "cash advance". One week after the card is closed, there is this random charge on my card for a cash advance (something I would never do), and when I call I learn that for whatever reason this just another way of them saying: Returned check fee. They have now charged me again for the same supposed, mysterious account-changed e-check for third time and after the account is closed for one week. Needless to say, I did call again, but am now wondering: what do I have to do to get rid of this horrific credit card?

In September 2010, BOA notified us that there were possible fraud charges because card was used in Mexico. It was fraud. We filed a fraud report and cancelled the credit card. On 10/29, we noticed a charge from Sirius Radio on our credit card. We had used Sirius two years ago but cancelled their service. When we contacted Sirius to ask them how they got our new credit card number, we were told BOA allowed it to go through because it was reoccurring. It is not reoccurring. So BOA allowed a credit card purchase to go through on a cancelled account because they felt it was a reoccurring account because we had purchased there before. Although BOA refused to help us, Sirius did agree to refund us. They had to refund us through paper check because they do not have our new credit card info in order to refund by credit card.

My concern is this and I think it should be investigated, if you cancel your credit card because of fraud, credit card companies (at least BOA does) allow charges on the cancelled card to go through on the new account if they feel it is a reoccurring charge. And if they feel it is reoccurring, you are not allowed to dispute it. So a thief can setup accounts as reoccurring with no worries about the credit card company doing anything about it. Even though the old card is cancelled that is a loophole that allows thieves to keep using the old card. Oh another note, our credit card originally declined the charge on 10/5 because it was sent through on a cancelled account. We never gave Sirius our new credit card information. The $164.04 amount went through to our new account because BOA authorized that charge even though we never did authorize it and they refuse to let us dispute the amount.

The balance on my account happens to be higher than it usually is and Bank of America feels comfortable in charging this amount because they tell me that I took out a special protection policy to cover my credit card financial affairs. I do not remember accepting this agreement at all. I know that I have no leverage that I can use to try to correct this to my advantage.

I pay my Bank of America credit card bill in full each month. I find it difficult to believe that a corporation like MBNA can take such advantage of people by not explaining a situation in advance of inviting one to "sign on". My husband also has an MBNA account and he is not charged "extra fees". I fully realize why they expect me to pay for the extra protection. I evidently ordered it but I did not order it knowing what it entailed and I believe that it was deliberately not explained so that advantage could be taken of me. I am angry because I believe again, the big guy gets to take advantage of the little guy. I would welcome any opportunity I could grasp (short of cancelling my card), because I'm afraid my credit rating will be ruined, as a result to let MBNA be informed that I will no longer be doing business with them.

I did not see this listed in the fee section. I never really noticed pay any attention to the fee until I saw a segment on ask Liz pertaining to hidden fees on bank cards. With them charging the extra one percent I will never get my balance down because this fee is taking the extra money that I was trying to pay to get back on track.

My complaint is I was charged interest on a 0 balance. I was charged interest on balances that did not exist. When I talked to customer service in August about a return and was advised to call if an interest charge showed up only to be told I owed this. I was very upset, you are charging interest on 0 balance. How can this charge carry over for two-pay period when paid in full.

Their customer service was not willing to assist or make the adjustment, I said if this cannot be reversed then close my account. When I asked to talk to their supervisor, they hung up on me and closed my account.

The phone call I made from my room cost $77, which shows BofA phone number. I tried to get it reimbursed and they refused. Next I call the CEO office in Charlotte, NC and get passed off to their VP who stood by her representative's with there decision. Since the time of the claim my account has been shut down and sent to collections, some company called First Source and they were rude and nasty. I have talked to them 5 times and one of the times, the manager and his employee both yield and used fowl language.

I have asked the VP to launch an investigation or to even help and she laughed at the request. I asked for further help from the CEO and she replied, "I am the person that handles his calls and writes response letters for him." I had an inappropriate charge to my debit card from Vision Star, Inc., Los Angeles, CA. I had signed up for a service with a monthly fee. Then, I cancelled the service after some time. After my cancellation, they continued to charge my debit card for the service and would not respond to my complaint. I filed a complaint with BofA under their publicized guarantee of security against fraudulent charges. They investigated the charge and came back with the lie told to them by Vision Star that I had not cancelled.

My view is that my bank works for me, not for the merchant. Accordingly, I didn't expect my dispute to be dismissed without further contact to me regarding their response. Additionally, I had alerted them to the likelihood that the merchant would lie and requested that if that would be an issue, I'd be happy to cooperate in further investigation.

This is the second time they failed to honor the "guarantee" of security that they advertise. The earlier one was when I was charged over $600 by Sterling Optical for glasses that I never received.

I'm through with this organization and would strongly caution anyone else considering using their service to think again. Likewise, for anyone presently using their services. Of course, I also don't think well of Sterling Optical or of Vision Star.

I'm out the $39.99 that I disputed (as I was the more than $600 with Sterling). I was able to stop further charges from Vision Star by having the bank issue a new ATM card number. This takes the notion of electronic banking down the wrong path and exemplifies the degradation of morality in our system. And it makes me sick at heart.

They retroactively dated this to take effect Sept. 30. I now have 2 "merchants" who have submitted their scheduled bills but, BOFA won't pay them. Neither of these merchants accept alternative methods of payments. I will have to cancel my MasterCard and get another Credit Card company in order to pay these "merchants". Credit Reform was supposed to help shield consumers from credit card companies that impose multiple fees or seemingly underhanded APR and penalty changes. I feel that when the legislation was passed, the card issuing companies were given too much time before the changes went into effect and also that there are still many policies the banks have that allow them to harm or inconvenience consumers. Please allow me to tell you my story. Prior to the reform, I had a very good credit score. I have not had any adverse transactions or late payments since then and yet my credit score continues to go down. I'll tell you why.

Part of your credit score is based on the ratio of used credit to available credit. I originally had about eight credit cards all with balances and all with available credit. Over the last year, I have gotten down to six cards. I keep getting notified from my various credit card companies that they are lowering my credit limit. This happens over and over bringing the credit lines down to nearly the balances on each card. Obviously, this is hurting my credit although my payment history and salary information is good.

Another issue with the practice of lowering credit limits is that by the time they notify you (retroactively to whatever date) you may have already used the card in the meantime. Case in point, today is September 3rd. Yesterday, I bought a new tire and used a credit card. Today, I got an email notice from my credit card company (and I will get another paper notice in the mail as that is what always happens) stating that they have changed my terms effective September 1, 2010 lowering my credit limit. This not only increases the chance of going over or near your limit, it can really affect plans that you may have made to pay for something in the future.

There are also times when you plan on traveling and use a card to hold a reservation only to have the limit lowered before you go and then guess what, you don't have the card to pay for the planned expenses. This is not a fair practice and I am strongly suggesting that it be discontinued. I have had this happen multiple times and each time I think I should let somebody know about this because the credit card companies are still finding ways to harm the consumer even after congress has attempted to reel them in. Thank you for your time.

I called Bank of America (BA) wanting to see if I could get my credit card rate reduced. They slipped a rate increase in on me over a year ago, and I didn't see their little notice until it was too late to opt out. I have had my "Premium" Bank of America card since 2002. After they raised my rate, I protested, but they refused to lower it. Since then I have just paid the bill every month in a timely manner, paying over $2400 interest in the last year alone on a $10,000 balance.

When I called to ask them to reduce my rate, I pointed this out, and they referred me to their "retention" department, and I got Travis **. He said BA does not lower their rates unless you go through their preferred "3rd party credit counseling" company and do a debt reorganization process. He got heavy-handed with me in the process, saying if I didn't do the credit counseling, my credit would eventually be ruined. Now understand, I have a history of maintaining my credit on time, and I was being very polite with him. He was just making all kinds of assumptions about what a deadbeat I was and telling me about it. He wanted to transfer me directly over to his "credit counseling company" while he was on the line, and he wouldn't tell me this company's name either.

Only after I questioned him about it in detail did he admit that this credit counseling would damage my credit rating for the next 5 years. He was trying to tell me it really didn't matter, that I didn't need a good credit rating because I'd probably just go do damaging things with it! I took the company's number and politely begged off. Even them, he continued to make these insulting insinuations about how hopeless my future was credit-wise.

But the part that really got me was, 2 minutes later, he called me back, to inform me that he had just slashed the credit limit on a credit card in my husband's name, which we had, recently, paid down by $2000! He had slashed it down to the new balance. We had paid it down to, in response to my asking for an interest rate reduction. I asked him, "Why did you do this to us? I went to a lot of trouble to pay my husband's card down, to improve our credit score, the balance-to-limit ratio matters in our credit score." First he said, "Well, it isn't your card anyway, it's your husband's card," I answered, "I pay the bills and I know what we paid on it and why." And in reply, he threatened, "Well, you shouldn't complain, I could just close your cards on you!" I was flabbergasted.

He further went on to say that the balance-to-limit ratio doesn't matter much anyway, not to people like us. I was just so angry at his tactics because I believe that the purpose of this was to try to force us into a reduced credit state so that we would have fewer options, and it was vindictive because I didn't go with his little plan for me to stop trying and trash my credit. We could have balance transferred this credit card to another card with a lower interest rate, but with a lowered score, our chances of doing that are greatly reduced. It just seemed like he was trying to railroad us and is some sort of destructive person, and apparently, this is what Bank of America is telling him to do. Damage to our credit rating. It will make it harder for us to negotiate our rates and payments down, which will make it harder for us to pay down our credit cards.

His actions and his threat also made me so angry that for the past 24 hours I have been unable to get on with things, and unable to sleep! He was trying to convince me that I was doomed and had no choice, and his actions were retaliatory for not going with his credit company. It isn't right to be treated this way by a creditor that you have been paying as agreed.

This is actually two stories wrapped into one big transgression by BoA.

First I will preface my history with BoA, which until this was truly stellar. I obtained my first credit card through Nations Bank back when I was in college (21 years ago). I have had many loans including a couple of car loans, one first mortgage, and two separate HELOC's on different houses. My personal banking was with them, as it was always free due to the loans I had with them.

Rewind to last January when the long amicable history hit the skids. First, they decided that my HELOC had become a bad risk, and decided to close it down with no notice, no nothing. In fact, I received the letter stating that the account was closed roughly 2 weeks after they actually closed it. Is that even legal? Regardless, I went to my local branch and talked to a personal banker, or whatever term they choose to use. We spoke with someone in the HELOC department, and they outlined a method of trying to reopen the HELOC. I chose not to pursue this.

Basically, they decided that my house had declined in value, but did not bother to even run the numbers or pull comparable sales in my area. I owed less than the original mortgage amount between the mortgage and HELOC, and found that comparable sales were in the neighborhood of what I originally paid for the house when I bought it. Nothing in the whole equation had changed. In fact, our family income was all that had changed, increased actually. But instead of maintaining a long running business relationship, they decided to cover their own posteriors at the expense of a good customer.

Fast forward to March. Suddenly, they decide that my credit card that I have had since 1989 is now a bad risk. They reduced the available credit on it down to $200 above the current balance. So now, I have not only lost all access to a secured HELOC, they decided to revoke the last available credit I have with them. Again, nothing has changed in the equation.

If this is the way that BoA values their relationships with customers who never miss payments and are never late with payment, then they are obviously not the bank for me.

I have been a customer of Bank of America for over 15 years. I had this account when they were called the First National Bank of Boston. I felt good about being loyal to a bank that helped my family for so many years. Well, let me tell you that Bank of America came in and made my life pure hell. Ever since there has been a way to use debit cards to pay for items, it seems like they (Bank of America) have been setting me up to fail. Many times I have been charged fees for insufficient funds, although my account says I have the money. Instantly I’m charged with ridiculous fees with rates that would make Al Capone crack a smile. I have been charged over $5000 in fees since they have set this as a standard.

Listen to this, a few months ago I got into a car accident. The rental car place made me give my information on my Bank of America debit card. I explained to them that there were not sufficient funds on the card and it would be rejected if it got charged. Well, they said it was formality. Since I was not at fault for the accident, I was not worried about being charged for the rental car. Well, lo and behold, somehow the rental car company found a way to charge my card. They shouldn’t have because it was the insurance company who should have paid the bill. That’s why I pay insurance. This should have resulted in a rejection or at the very least should have been sent back to the rental insurance to pay.

What gives Bank of America the right to continue to charge me for it when they knew I didn’t have the funds to pay? Now Bank of America has me on the hook for over $900 for the rental payment and fees for not having the money and they expect me to pay them. I am still trying to get the insurance company to pay the bill to the rental place because they owe them, not me. Because of these fees and incorrect actions, I have suffered mental anguish that has left me untrustworthy of banking institutions and honestly big business period. By rendering my account negative so many times when there should have been money in there has messed up my credit with other businesses and people that I have dealt with in the past.

My credit has suffered a lot during these economic times and enhanced by the predatory practices of the Bank of America. I would like to be contacted in case to recoup my monies that I have lost during the years. This is in the upwards of $5000. This will not repair the goodwill that I had with other companies and people who I did business with that somehow was affected negatively. Please review this complaint and feel free to call me on all matters that deal with this case.

On 28 June 2010, I wrote an access check (good until 1 July 2010) from Bank of America to Service King Collision Repair for $2,113.96 with a Promotional 0% APR until the end of November 2010, at which time, it would increase to our normal APR of 9.9%. But when we received the bill, it showed the transaction had not taken place until 2 July 2010. So Bank of America treated it as a Cash Advance with an APR of 24.99%! I now have in my possession a screen shot from their records showing that the funds were made available to them on the 30th of June 2010. The manager of Service King stated that the check had been written on 28 June 2010, then went to their Telecheck service, and funds were available from that check to Service King on 30 June 2010.

So, in essence, Bank of America, in my opinion, deliberately withheld the check until 2 July 2010 so they could charge the 24.99% APR for Cash Advance. I have now contacted Ross and Matthews, PC to see if I can sue them or at least get my promotional APR back. If not, I will transfer the entire balance to another of my better credit cards and close my account with Bank of America. I thought the new law in effect was supposed to stop predatory credit card scams, but I guess that law does not pertain to Bank of America.

As I see it, everyone should open an account with their local credit union, as the customers are the ones who own the credit union, plus, many other perks that banks do not have. If you have a Bank of America credit card, get rid of it. If not, don't apply for one! I have been a customer since 2002 with no late payments (in fact, I have always paid more than the minimum). Our credit is excellent.

Also, their Customer Service is totally useless in matters such as this, as all three I have spoken with (one was supposedly a supervisor) all told me that nothing could be done or they refused to even try to get the matter resolved. What happened with the billions the taxpayers gave BOA? Will we ever see any of that back? No, but the Federal Government will (the ones who gave it to them in the first place). If it had been me, I would have let them go under, as smaller banks would have started popping up across the country. I did not give my permission to bail them out with my taxpayer money. It looks like Bank of America needs another class action lawsuit against them.

Several years ago I applied for a BoA Visa card and was approved. I received the card and was given an interest rate around 9% and $5000 line of credit. I used the card to make purchases up to around $4000 and then began to make monthly payments that always exceeded the monthly payment by double or triple. Never one late payment.

One day I was sent a letter from BoA stating that due to my credit circumstances, my interest rate for the card was being increased to about 20%. I called the company three times and got three different reasons for the increase and all were lies. At that time my credit score was around 750. I was given the option of basically freezing the account where I could keep my current interest rate and make normal payments but NOT use the card, which I agreed to.

I put the card in my safe and started paying down the balance. I was sent a new BoA Visa card when the old one expired but I never activated it and put it in my safe. Some time in June, I noticed that the terms of my BoA Visa had changed. I was given a $8000 line of credit at 5.25%, which I felt was fair. I was hesitant to use the card with my previous bad experience with the older one so I called BoA to confirm the terms. I also told them about my problem in the past and a lady there said that all those policies had been changed and I had new terms. I could activate my card and use it at the new terms. I decided to activate the card.

I am remodeling so I decided to use the card for about $400 purchases in the period of five days. One purchase required a PIN, which I had long forgotten, so I called their customer service and asked for a reset. They said something would be mailed to me in several days. I was then told that because of my credit circumstances, my line of credit would be cut from $8000 to $4000. I spoke with several different people and got different reasons. I told them I would no longer use their card.My pay by web balance was also changed reflecting the new LOC.

About a day later, BoA credit card security called me to asked me to verify that I had recently began to use the card again. I told them I had made the purchases but no longer wanted to use the card because they changed the terms. The person from security said my records showed I had $8000 LOC at 5.25%. I asked him to re-verify. I was sent to another department and I was told their info was accurate. I went on their website and my bill paying web page showed $8000 LOC at 5.25%! I asked them to please verify because I didn't want to exceed my limit. I was told my limit was 8K and on my bill payer website my terms now showed $8000 LOC at 5.25%.

I then made about $800 worth of additional purchases. One day I got a letter from BoA stating that my request for "additional" credit had been denied. I also received a second letter on same letterhead congratulating me on my acceptance with a new LOC of $4400. I called the company again and was told my LOC has been cut and they could check into it again. I then was told they couldn't raise the rate back to the $8000 they had promised me. This put me about $400 over my credit limit. They refused to change the terms.

I'm trying to pay other cards so am having a hard time even making the minimum payment which isn't even putting a dent in the amount I owe.

I called BOA and asked if we could work out a deal that I send them a very minimum amount (around $50 a month) while I pay off another card and then make very large payments to BOA. I was told that I didn't qualify for a finance plan because my monthly income is less than my monthly debt. Duh idiots, why do you think I'm calling for help? They then transfer me to the recovery department (where I should have never been transferred) to this total **. They are making no attempts to work with me on trying to get my debt paid off. The people who run this company should be publicly stoned. I've never dealt with a bigger group of idiots in all of my life.

I had a BOA Visa and one day I called to see about lowering the interest rate. I had made a payment one day late and it sent the APR reeling. I waited the instructed 6 months and called back. When I got the next available operator, she told me, "This credit card is doing nothing for you. Let me tell you about our credit line." I signed on for a "credit line" and was told I could borrow cash when I need it, and when the balance goes down, I can even lower the payments. I was getting cash advance checks for a while and didn't think about it when they stopped.

One day I suddenly needed a root canal and went into my local bank to see about getting some money toward my surgery. The teller was very confused as to what I was talking about. I opened my phone and logged into my account, showing him exactly what I was describing. After a lot of confusion behind the counter, they asked me to please pick up a phone at the desk behind me. A gentleman informed me that I actually do not have a "credit line", but I have a credit card. I have never received a card or anything of that sort. I was also informed that my limit would be dropping and that my request was denied.

I had never had to "ask" for the advances before and had never been denied. Then to top it off, I was told that my other BOA Visa card was reassessed and they are lowering my limit on that too. That was last February. I recently called asking to lower the payment since the monthly minimum was based on the larger balance. I have made payments to lower the balance and felt a more reasonable monthly payment could be arranged. I was denied again. I agreed to certain terms and a credit line I could use. I was told it's there for when you need it, and that has turned out to be completely false.

My first issue is that this is not the original agreement. If the terms and conditions were changed, I did not receive written notification. Second, I do not understand how I am able to receive my statement monthly, advertisements, and teaser checks to cash. Yet, I cannot receive my rewards check via US Postal Service. We normal pay our bill in full every month. I do not feel I should be put in a position of obligation in using this credit card. I do not feel this is right. Please assist me. In 2008 I apparently had a cash advance of $100. I noticed on my statements I was being charged $6 a month "cash advance fee" on top of regular interest. When I emailed to question this, they explained in fill in the blank emails, that according to the new federal law as of February, all payments over the minimum will be applied to cash advance. I asked what was my balance on the $100 advance. As of July 2010 the balance was $182 even though my minimum payment was $20 and I made a payment of $200 in April.

What they are not telling customers is you must pay off your entire balance to stop the cash advance charges. My limit is only $800. That means to date, I have paid $216 in interest on a $100 cash advance, and still owe $182. Additionally, they raised my interest rate to the 29% cash advance fee for my account so all purchases are at 29%. I informed them their policy was fraudulent and that for 29% interest, I would find another credit card and bank.

Just FYI, I live in China and Western Union funds to pay only my student loan and my Visa payment. For those two debits, BofA charges me $10 a month for the checking and $15 a month interest on a $300 balance on my credit card. That means I am paying over $360 a year to make two payments and one deposit a month. I encourage everyone to cancel their Bank of America accounts and find a credit union if you can. If not, any other bank would have to be more honest than the scam they have been reprimanded for by the federal government. That is why they enacted the law which went into effect in February that any payment over the minimum amount is to be applied to higher interest rates.

Beware! They will raise your interest rate to match the cash advance rate, and unless you pay off the balance entirely, you will pay and pay and pay and the balance only goes up. Numerous emails that never addressed the true issue. I requested an itemized statement from them showing the original $100 cash advance, and a month by month accounting of exactly what was paid on the cash advance.

There is nowhere on the statement where customers can opt to pay off the cash advance, even though their emails say "you can pay the higher rate" if you tell us to. I should not have to tell the bank to obey the Federal law that has mandated they do so automatically. I am very interested in any class action suit against the bank for fraud or any other criminal or civil actions against them.

I have several credit cards with Bank of American and two of which have offered me a low interest rate for balance transfer. I have one which I have been using with an interest rate of 10.9% and has a credit line of $22, 0000. I called them and asked to have the interest rate reduced but they have advised me to transfer the balances from the $22K credit to the other 2 unused card. These 2 unused cards had only a $2000 and $6000 credit line but is offering to have a 0% or a 3.99% APR. I told them I do not want to do this since using up all the credit line available will affect my credit score. I have an 800 credit score. They insisted on transferring the balance from my other credit card which has a credit line of $22,000 and split it with the two so it won’t use up all the credit and only 45% of the credit line is used.

A week later, I am requesting for the credit card which had the $2000k credit and was increased to $16K and was told they have to do a credit history. I am so shocked when they told me they had reduced my credit line to the existing balance on my card, which means that my credit score will be affected. I talked to the manager and of course they have made the decision but I find this deceitful since they did not disclose this in the beginning and false advertising on their end. Yes, they offer you a low APR but they never tell you that they will also reduce your credit line once you go through the process, therefore, affecting your credit. What can we do about this? I see this has been happening again and again. My credit score, which I have been so passionately been taking care of, will be lowered.

I was confused so I asked why this could be. Well, stupid B of A lowered my credit limit because I wasn't using it "often" and when it was lowered it exceeded the credit limit. So, I was over my limit on that card and in turn got screwed on my credit score.

I had called the bank earlier that year because I noticed my interest rate had gone up. They told me they sent out a letter that stated I could opt out of the rate increase. I never got a stupid letter, why the heck would I not opt out of that? I got transferred around to several people because I wanted the original rate back. After several pointless conversations with unhelpful people, nothing was changed. I pay my bills, thank you! It pisses me off that B of A gets away with this and the only answer you get is, “We are sorry, there is nothing we can do.”

Our debit visa credit card was cancelled without notifying us via email. We were not aware of the compromised accounts stolen; cards cancelled and new cards issued as we were left America October 14, 2009 to travel Asia. We use only our debit card to access our funds when traveling. Our first decline was in Singapore in November 2009. I thought the bank was paranoid us traveling several countries thinking the account was stolen. All I thought I had to do was call the bank and reassure them it was us using our card. We took a train from Singapore to Thailand and did not have an access to contact the bank until we reached Bangkok. I called the bank to discover our debit card had been closed and a new card issued and mailed to our Colorado address! We have no cash and no way of accessing our funds in our bank account. The time difference from Asia to America makes it difficult as banking hours in America means it is 3 a.m. in Asia.

I called the bank and gave my information to four different employees and found I had a dead connection; whether they disconnected and didn't want to handle my problem (which I concluded was happening) or a lost connection. Finally, I reached a woman in Georgia that was very competent and within two days (after trying for a week) she had money wired to us and a new card expressed. However, do to the time it took this created a problem with us overstaying our Thailand visa, caused hotel/food expense for an extra week (we had not planned on being in Thailand that extra week) and our passports went under the six month requirement by two days to leave Thailand even though we had six months left on our passports. We had additional expense to obtain emergency passports which took two more days. We were fined 3,000 baht for overstaying our Thailand visa. We did not need the expense of new passports as our passports were good until June 2010 except in Thailand. In addition to all this expense, we have auto payment from our bank. The bank did not continue paying our auto payments. One storage unit was auctioned off without our knowledge. Fortunately, we were notified of the other payments not made, so we could set up the new card #.

Bank of America should be held accountable for the expense, time and anguish they created for us by not notifying us via bank email. I monitor my bank statement online frequently; had they sent a message online on my bank statement I would have know there was a problem. I need to know how I can be compensated for the expense created by Bank of America. I have described above the damage. Please have an attorney contact me via email. Thanks.

After I paid off the amount in full in person at the bank in April 2010, the bank stated the account was closed and no more debits would be withdrawn. In May, nothing was withdrawn; but came June 2010, they debited $500 from my checking account for an account that is closed!

I was informed by their representative, Ms. **, that my claim had been upheld. Since I no longer reside in the US, I asked if a cashier's check could be mailed to my Belize, Central America residence. She took my details and told me it would be. She also told me the check would not be released for fourteen business days. On Sept. 2nd, 2009, I received a letter from Bank of America confirming my claim was upheld. Mail from the US typically takes two to three weeks to reach Belize, though it can take as many as six.

When I contacted Bank of America on Nov. 2nd, 2009, I was informed that the check was mailed on Aug. 24th, 2009, but to a US BoA Banking Center because cashier's checks cannot be mailed to an out of country address, despite Ms. ** having agreed it could be. Bank of America could not tell me where the check was sent. Several "researches" were made to locate it to no avail. All they could tell me was that the check had not been cashed. From Nov. 2nd 2009 to the present day, I have dealt with numerous representatives of the ACH Fraud Investigation Team, their supervisors (Priscilla **, Liz **) and lastly, a manager by the name of Alfred **. The last time I communicated with him successfully was in April. His message to me was that he was waiting for his manager to return to work on April 26th, 2010.

I have attempted to speak with Mr. ** several times since, June 8th, 2010 being the last time. He was not available and a message was sent to him by Ms. ** of the Identity Theft Victim Support Helpline. They have this claim listed under case number **. I also left him a voicemail message. My only access to Mr. ** is through the Victim Support Helpline number.

Although I offered them a US address to which the check could be sent (Bank of America in Houston), it has now been almost ten months since Bank of America upheld my claim, yet I am still waiting to receive my refund. Note: The address posted on your form is my last address in the US (which BoA has on file). I used it because your form cannot cope with out of country addresses. I presently reside at Belize City, Belize, Central America (which Bank of America has on file and has used to contact me in writing about this issue). I have resided in Belize since June 20th, 2007. The original identity theft occurred through my online banking service with BoA.

In total, over $44,000.00 was stolen. I have recovered only $13,000 so far. Should I recover the amount of this claim - $15,500 - I will still have lost almost $16,000. BoA offers no centralized assistance. I have been forced to work my way through the problem with countless individuals. One person, Rebecca ** of the Victim Support Line went through my statements in their entirety on August 11th, 2009, but she was not able to point me in the right direction to recover these outstanding funds. My costs are almost a $1,500 in international calls, a trip to Houston to complete a physical identification check, ofter which I received the check for $13,000 which cost me $2,000.

Several years ago, I was holding a BOA Visa card with a $6,000 line of credit. I have always paid over and above the minimum payments and had never been late paying them in at least three years. One day, I got a letter from BOA saying that because of changes in my credit circumstances, they would need to raise my 6.9% rate to a 24% rate. Obviously, I called their customer service which seemed to listen but was unable to do anything. I asked to speak with multiple loan officers. Each gave me a completely different reason for having to raise the rates and none was true or relevant to me. They also gave me the option of freezing the account at the current 6.9% rate and only allowing me to pay the balance down monthly. They said if I paid late once or used the card, my rate for the entire balance would go to the default rate (over 24%). I chose to freeze the account and paid on it monthly.

Several months ago, I got replacement Visa cards from BOA. I was curious so I went to their website. My account was now listed at 5.4% with a line of credit at $8,000. Since this deal was slightly better than one of my other cards, I called the company to activate the cards and was told I had $8,000 credit but a balance of only $3,800, giving me about $4,000 to use if needed. The lady I spoke with told me the cards are live and full line was available. The same day, I tried to make a PIN purchase and got declined at three different places. I was able to buy $20 worth of gas (non-PIN). I called up BOA to reset my PIN, and instead was given an on-the-spot credit check. When the person came back on the phone, I was told that my $8,000 line of credit was going to be cut immediately to $4,000! Once again, they used the change in circumstances clause to do this. They never considered that I had not missed one payment with a mortgage account (bought from Countrywide) and years of paying the card on time. The person I talked to said she could try to work something out, but came back with the same news.

I received a telephone call from someone from Bank of America about 10 days ago asking me if I authorized someone from Texas to post charges on this account, and I told her ‘no’. I asked her if she could provide me any further information about the transaction learned from Blizzard, and I asked her to pass whatever information she had learned to the Upland Police Department, which I've asked to investigate and to issue a subpoena to Blizzard for that information, and she refused to do that.”

"Yesterday, I received your letter dated May 27 (a full week after we spoke) requesting that I return the signed letter to you (for written confirmation that I didn't authorize this transaction) by June 6 or ‘we will assume you are no longer disputing the charge(s)’ and that ‘the balance will be owed.’”

"Enclosed is your written confirmation. I doubt it will be received by you before the June 6 deadline. Regardless, I continue to dispute these transactions and will pursue recovery for them against Bank of America, Blizzard, and the yet undisclosed Florida credit card thief, whether you help or not, and regardless of any unenforceable threats you make. In September 2009, due to decrease in my work, I decided to ask for a loan modification for my line of credit with Bank of America since I was making payments of $300 and $80 of those were only interest. I was never late or missed a payment an any of my mortgages ever before.

The first employee who talked to me told me that I needed to be delinquent on my payment to be able to qualify. I decided to try. I was harassed by Bank of America every day of the week, including Sunday. And when I talked to them, they told me that I did the wrong thing and I was misinformed. They told me to make a payment immediately on the following Monday, and I did.

Soon after that, I got a letter saying that my request for my loan extension was approved. Hu? I never was offered a loan extension; neither I asked for one. And why would they tell me to pay on Monday if they were going to issue an extension? Still they allowed me to apply for the loan modification. I was traveling at the time with a job and had a busy schedule, so I was denied of my right because I missed the due date. So I tried again, and I was denied recently because of my income. This process took over 4 months, and I was advised by a Bank of America representative to wait to make a payment to see if I get approved, because if I did, I only needed to pay a minimum amount within a 5-months period. So I did.

Recently, I got a letter from the adviser that I was denied because of income. I was very lost did not know what to do next, since I talked with over 10 different people and they all told me different things. Most of them were contradicting each other. So finally, I start getting harassed again from their collection department. So I called to see if there was any other way to help me. A very sweet customer service lady,at extension 45747 told me that she was surprise nobody told me that the way this home equity loan is set up, I could pay for the first ten years interest only!

That alone would have reduce the payment to $63 monthly, and I would have saved me all these 5 months of headaches and harassments. She told me to go ahead and pay the interest I owed these past 5 moths that came to $258. So I did. While I was talking to her, I made a payment through my online banking for $300. Two seconds after she said she was going to set up my account to interest only, she put someone else on the line, Nydia *1800 552 5203) who that said that my account was not qualified for that payment or interest only because it is in foreclosure.

And that she was going to send an email to their Back Department to see if they could reverse the status, since I was never told that I could pay interest only. My payment of $300 they assured me was not going to be received because of the account status, but I was gong to be able to reverses it. I called as advised to the bill payment support line to stop the payment, they told me that was not possible, so my money is lost in cyberspace.

Today, after two days, I was not able to reach Victoria **, and the Nadya lady never called me back. I talked to Darnita and told me my request was denied. I asked her for an address for that Back Department who denied my request, and she said they don't have an address or a phone number. I asked for their legal department, to have my lawyer contact them, and they told me they don't have a physical address.

I have all the names and numbers with extensions of every person that I've contacted from Bank of Americas for the past five months. Nobody knew what they were talking about.

I have a credit card with Bank of America. It has 2 balances on it. One if for a balance transfer the other is for a purchase, a fee of $15.00 for not being charged a late payment fee for the balance transfer. This $15.00 purchase is now over $60.00. I was told by a Bank of America representative last month with the new law anything I paid over the minimum payment would be applied to the second balance which is the purchase balance which is smaller than the balance transfer balance. I made my payment well over what the minimum payment was as to pay off the smaller second balance for the purchase.

I received my statement this month and the second balance for the purchase is still on there and still accruing interest. I called again and this time they told me that since the interest rate was the same on both balances, that anything I paid over the minimum payment would be applied to the higher balance which is the balance transfer balance which is over $13,000.00. So I cannot pay on the $60.00 balance until I pay for the $13,000.00 balance. This does not seem fair. Is there anything I can do to pay off the second smaller balance so that it will not accrue interest as well as the higher balance? Last year Bank of America offered a rate increase. In order to keep the interest rate the same, I had to agree not to use my card or be late with a payment. I have complied with both conditions.

On January 11th 2010 at approximately 12:00 pm, I spoke with a friendly woman from Bank of America's corporate office. She explained to me that Bank of America could not negotiate settlement amounts. Based on some internal payment plan, the settlement can only be $2500.00 in three payments. This means that each payment is roughly $833.33. She also explained to me that the settlement offer is only available by the end of this month. After the end of this month, the settlement offer may increase or no longer available.

For approximately a year, I paid $130.00 per month, on time, to close this account. I realized this is a financial burden and there is no guarantee that I will be able to get my credit card account reopen again after making these payments. I decided to take the negative hit on my credit report and attempt to settle the account. For the last couple of years, I have successfully negotiated settlement amounts with other credit card companies. They have all been flexible in making payment arrangements that are financially suitable for them and me. If I knew from the time I open my credit card account or at the time I began to miss payments that Bank of America does not negotiate settlement amounts, I would have never let my credit card go into collections. I also assumed that the previous arrangement I made by making those monthly payments would place me in good standings to negotiate an offer.

Bank Of America is not being reasonable in settling this matter. They are forcing me into a contract that is unreasonable. Secondly, my credit report will show that I am not making any effort in settling this matter. I am making every effort to resolve this matter. I believe their actions are violating this law: 209 CMR 18.00: Conduct of the business of debt collectors and loan servicers 18.21: Unfair servicing practices (6) knowingly or recklessly providing inaccurate information to a credit bureau, thereby, harming a consumer's creditworthiness.

However, I will not agree into something that will cause further financial harm. After my Attorney General's office contacted them, they agreed to make a settlement. Then I filed a second complaint with the Attorney General's office and this happens - a clear breach of contract.

On February 22nd 2010, I contacted the office because BOA refused to settle a credit card debt with me. On February 27th, once BOA realized that this office was involved, settlement arrangement was made for $2500. On March 18th, to confirm the contract, I was required to set up an automatic payment system from my checking account at Salem 5 bank to BOA. $210 was to come out of the checking account each month. The first and initial payment was automatically taken out of my account on March 18th. Approximately, on April 4th 2010, I was able to get a loan for $2300 from Northeastern University Credit Union to pay the difference. On April 10th, the $2300 was received by BOA at the address BOA provided me to send payment. I told Stacy ** of BOA recovery unit that I was going to send it by mail to which she agreed. On April 16th, BOA cashed the $2300 payment I mailed and on April 20th, BOA took an extra $210 from my account.

From April 22nd to present, I am playing phone tag with Stacy and she agreed that I deserve my money back. The office manager said no. I missed paying other important bills and it is mentally exhausting fighting a huge institution with no help from the government or legal entity.

Basically, Bank of America took more money than they should have and are refusing to give it back. They are trying to blame me. They're telling me that it is my fault that I did not stop the payments but how! I called them and my account was paid in full. Any lawyer out there, please sue them for breach of contract. All I want is my $200 back and they can take the rest.

I had a gold line of credit with Bank of America. I was told my credit line was being lowered without any explanation. Then I received a letter they were going to raise my APR. I contacted Bank of America and explained I had a fixed APR of 8% with our contract. I then received a letter telling me it was a mistake. Now I find out that my available credit of $5,467.00 on my line of credit is no longer available to me and they could not tell me why. I keep getting the run-around without an answer to my question. I have never missed a payment or been late with a payment. I always pay more than the amount due, but still I have lost my line of credit without any reason given. This issue has caused my credit score to be lowered as well as causing me grief.

Bank of America took over my Re/Max/American Express card a number of years ago when I opened a checking account with them. I have paid every single one of my monthly bills on time and have usually paid more than the minimum rate. My credit line was and always has been $30,000. I kept the balance under $20,000 up until the beginning of this year when a number of larger bills were switched from a different account to this one. I continued to pay my bills early and more than the minimum payment due. Today I got a letter from the bank saying I was a great customer and referring me to information on the bank of the letter which pertained to me. When I turned to the back of the letter I found that they were going to charge me an annual fee of $195 /year, and when I looked at the account online, I found that they already had done so. I called the customer satisfaction line to ask if there was any way that that fee could be waived since I am a good customer and have never had even one late payment. After saying no over and over again, the agent asked me a couple of questions about my finances and asked me if I was having problems making payments. I told her to look at my record and she would see that that was certainly not the case. She then asked me to hold on while she saw what she could do about the annual charge. When she returned to the phone, she told me that not only could she not waive the annual fee, but that she had decided to lower my credit limit to only $800 over what my balance is now. She would not back down. She would not tell me why. She would lower my limit when I have never had an issue with paying the monthly bill. What can I do?

This is not the only problem I have had with BOA. Two months ago, I called because I notice a merchant charge that I didn't recognize. Once the agent helped me to find a phone number for the merchant she told me she was going to cancel the card and issue another. I told her not to do that because it was possible it was a yearly charge that I had forgotten. She said that was fine. A few days later, I received a new credit card in the mail and was told that my card had been cancelled. When I called to please re-instate my card because of all the work, I would have to notify vendors of my new credit card number. I was told that was impossible. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that the supervisor would get back to me that afternoon. Needless to say, I never received a call back and had to activate the new card to continue with my business transactions! I am very, very disappointed with BOA and feel like I'm over a barrel right now!

B of A called to let me know they were decreasing the credit limit on both credit card accounts. The problem is they dropped one from $23,000 to $7200 and the other from $14,000 to $7000. This maxed out both cards, which in turn dropped my credit score from 771 to 749 within three days. I have never been late with one payment, ever! So now I know how they treat their "valued" customers. My advice is don't trust B of A. If you don't pay your bills, then they drop your limit and affect your credit score. If you do pay your bills, the same thing happens. If B of A doesn't pay their bills, they get a taxpayer bail out! What's wrong with this picture? Consumers are getting **!

It's been going on now for the last four weeks.

I also did some research on them, and it seems that other consumers are having similar problems with them as well. It seems like fraud to me as I am being charged and paying for their service as this is the first time since I am unemployed but they continue asking for this and that. When I asked them if that was all the information they needed, they said, "Yes, that's all I need." I just want to see if you can help me on this. Thank you in advance.

My complaint is the same as the other 100 complaints that I have just read. Bank of America lowered my available balance for no apparent reason. I have never missed a payment and/or paid late. I made a $1,000 payment on my account, because I wanted to purchase tickets for my family to come down for my son's graduation and use the credit card to buy the tickets online. Less than 10 days after I deposited the money into my credit card account, my available balance was lowered by $1,000.

When I called, they refused to raise my available balance, even though I have been a loyal and responsible customer. They said that I had to pay off my credit cards, so that they were not at the limit. That is a ridiculous statement, since every time I attempt to pay off the credit cards, they choose to lower the available balance which lowers my credit score and prompts other companies to do the same. This should not be legal. These credit card companies are lowering balances due to their economic situation, yet their actions affect our lives in a major way. Our credit score determines how and if we can buy a home, car, or receive other credit cards in our business or personal life if we need it.

They should not have that kind of power, unless we have been late or missed a payment. How is it that we continue to allow this to happen? Something has to be done. If I was not as responsible as I am, I would just quit paying for anything. If someone knows a law that protects us from this type of treatment, please send me an email. I would also like to start a blog regarding this problem, because I am a hair stylist and I hear people talking about this almost every day. But no one knows what to do about it.

BofA should appreciate the bailout, and at least treat their loyal and responsible clients with respect, as opposed to reacting in ways that could potentially put their clients in financial danger. This situation has caused more stress in my life, because I depend on the credit cards to subsidize my income when times are hard. My credit score has gone down because of this and does not allow me to consolidate, so that I can get a lower interest rate.

New credit card offer. BoA, knowing that new credit card laws will take effect in July 2010, sent me an offer (which I am sure was widespread) to accept a new credit card with a 0 percent introductory rate for 12 months. Sounds great, until you read the fine print. Under the new law, credit card companies will be prohibited from raising rates one existing balances unless you agree at the time the card is opened or you are delinquent. BoA mentions the change in interest rate to 12.99-19.99 percent after 12 months in fine print on the back, something no one reads. Then all your balances will be charged interest. This was not the intent of Congress when they passed the law and BoA should make the information much clearer. BTW, the law takes effect July 2010. You must apply for the card by June 29, 2010. How obvious is that?

I received a credit card from BofA, and my in-home care provider (I am a senior citizen and handicapped as well.) found out about the fact that I had received this credit card. She started making threats to me, until she got the entire amount of ten thousand dollars. Then she said, "Have fun paying the bill." I paid on it as much as I could, and one day, I got a call from BofA. They have another account that they want me to roll over to another credit card I had, and they knew I had enough credit to do it. They ended up doing it completely without my okay and to away with it. Then they started in on me, wanting the full amount paid yesterday.

Things got worse and worse, and the next thing I know, I am being told I will take a loan that is coming from the East Coast somewhere and that will pay for their bill and my mortgage and I will start paying the other loan company. They sent me papers, and the loan went through. BofA was paid and accepted what they got - a total of six thousand dollars from the ten thousand-dollar loan to begin with. Then more trouble came. BofA sold the loan to a brokerage company, and they in turn sold it to Indy Mac. When it got to Indy Mac, it went from a 5% interest loan to an interest-only loan. So I could have paid for forty years and never seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Then the payments started going up, and I could not afford them on my income from Social Security. And so, Indy Mac refused to talk to me about it, and they turned around and sold my house without my knowledge.

One day, a man from Caldwell Banker came to inform me in no uncertain terms that I needed to get out now or face being arrested and jailed. So now the scramble was on to find a new place and have someone move me and everything that goes with moving. But at the end, they offered cash for keys and that did help. But I had not been moved a month when Indy Mac tried to give me a new loan and I ignored them. I had an attorney, who did everything he could possibly do; but it did not work out. I had only lived in this house for about thirty five years and would have had the mortgage paid off a long time ago, but for this person who took me for identity theft. Oh, she lost her job but never spent any time behind bars. She managed to get two accounts, one from American Express and the other from Capital One, under my account but in her name. So I fought them and did not have to pay that bill as well.

I have had two heart attacks since this happened, but I am finally able to have some peace of mind, knowing that no one is going to come and tell me this is not my home; but I am renting. And if anything goes wrong, I call the landlord and they come and fix it. Nice is all I can say on that score. I would never have another BofA credit card if they paid me. And I was a customer of theirs for many years, until they overdrew me one day right after I had put money in the bank and paid a car off. They got the car check but claimed they didn't get the deposit. I put them both on the same day, so that killed that. I have not had any use for Bank of America since then.

I had to call every day to get them to close the account. My credit score went from 750 to the low 600s I had my credit lines cut, my interest rates on all my other accounts were raised. My teachers union offered a great interest rate on a 60 month line of credit. My husband and I are in the process of renovating and fixing up our house. With an almost 800 credit rating, we applied for a $10,000 line of credit in August of 2009 and after several months of confusion, missing, and blatantly inaccurate information (on BOA' s behalf) we finally received our credit line in December of 2009. We started our renovations and by March had a bulk of it done with $4,800 borrowed. More than the necessary minimum monthly payments were made ahead of time through Jan-March. An April payment of $2,500 was made three weeks early dropping our balance to around $2,300.

In late April, we attempted to use our line of credit to finish our project in the tune of around $3000 and were denied. BOA' s customer relations on the phone bounced me around to four representatives including one (confused ?small business? creditor) who all told me the same thing. All personal credit lines were discontinued company wide in December (the same month we received our original LOC)?

This leaves us with unfinished plumbing, electrical and flooring. BOA did not attempt to notify me that the line of credits were being discontinued. The customer service representative actually told me that it was my responsibility check on the status and to make sure the account was not discontinued. Had I known, the extra monthly payment money would have been used to finish our project and we would have made the loan payments on time over 60 months.

Very frustrated and disappointed with BOA' s lack of customer communication and commitment. I have paperwork documenting BOA' s confusion including my current bill that shows my "available credit" of $7300. Today is April 29th, if these accounts were discontinued in December, I shouldn't have "available credit"? I wonder how long until my request for a supervisor's call back will take?

I have found a significantly better APR percentage with another credit card company (As stated months ago when I called to cancel card and refuse changes to card) and I canceled my account. I thought, I would send a message to see what is going on and see what you have to offer before I report this account and report the spam calls with out any messages being left, all which are recorded, time and date especially those before 8am and after 9pm and on Saturday and Sunday. I have had the card for years, paid the balance in full every month, now, the last year, I have been very ill and this is how I'm treated. I have automatic payments set up, yet I keep getting charged a late fee and you lowered my credit each time I payoff the card so I get over limit fees. Obama will love this! As well as the Card Act and Can Spam Act. I have been out of work and having financial difficulty (hospitalized, disability). I have been unable to pay my Chase account in full for several months, though I have automatic payment for minimum balance. regulations from the Card Act of 2009, effective February 22, 2010.

First of all, does Bank of America stand for or bend over again? Now really, I thought I was the only one out there, but after reading all these other comments, I realized I am just another victim of BOA's tactics. This is my story... In the last few years, Bank of America raised my credit limit. Because I was "a valued customer with outstanding credit". Now this happens and now I am harassed constantly, even though I have automatic payments set up.

I received no assistance in getting the high over limit charges or interest charges,or late fees removed from this account. I have gone from excellent credit to having to agree to a "Special Re-payment" program from Bank of America's overpaid executives, and their predatory partners FIA Card Services, N.A. The effects of this one account, have devastated my credit. Once BOA reported this to the credit bureau, every credit card I had, raised interest and reduced my limits to the amount owed, making all cards, over limit, with high interest rates and over limit fees, and freezing of all accounts.

Where do we turn for the bailout, like they received? Where and when is it going to end. For me, I have made the decision to close all cards via a "Debt Settlement program", not from BOA. One last thing, seven hundred billion taxpayer dollars in real money was given to these companies, not credit. BOA asked for and received 45 Billion dollars in TARP monies. Who is asking Congress for me, to receive a bailout. If that 45 Billion given to BOA was distributed amongst all their customers, wouldn't that have saved the customers, and not BOA's Executives? And isn't BOA supposed to repay the monies, the money they are hijacking from all of us! It is a scam and they are getting away with it.

A few months later since my credit limit was lowered to with-in less than 2500.00 of what was currently due I over limited the account when an auto payment from a vendor was charged to my account. I recently made a payment to the wrong credit card fortunately this was still a Bank Of America account that I had already paid in full years ago, so I called there customer service, and explained to them what had happened, and asked them to remove the late payment charge as I had made the payment on time in fact, 9 days early, but to the wrong Bank Of America account. The lady in customer service said not a problem, I'll credit the account for you and remove the 39.00 late service fee.

I have asked at least 5 reps to put me in contact with a supervisor. One has and that man, Tony, advised that he would flag the account in his name and contact me weekly to ensure that the account was resolved and that the fees were adjusted before I sent the funds. He also advised that he would send a letter detailing the error by BOA, all fees and late charges, etc. to be removed, and that any negative information be removed from my credit report. I have received no letter, no call from Tony or any other supervisor, or live person for that matter.

My emails have gone unanswered or answered so erroneously that they are impossible to comprehend. There are I guess so many complaints, they are two days behind. It doesn't matter, the supervisor will agree with what he did. Something has to be done about this company. There needs to be a lawsuit against them doing this. If I am showing an ability to pay not only their debt, but all of my debt and am never late, how dare they make that assumption. Shouldn't they have to show cause before they lower my limit? Can these banks do whatever they want, because they can? I am now trying to find a way to refinance my house, pay them off and get rid of them forever! I think what Bank of America did to me and i am sure many other folks in these economic hardships that our whole country is going through is not much less than criminal. I will never ever, ever do any kind of business with Bank of America again.

I will never, nor will any member of my family do business with Bank of America again. Although we understand that we are ultimately responsible, we expected to pay a late fee and move on. Bank of America, however, had different intentions. In addition, Bank of America has reported us to Equifax making it impossible for us to transfer our debt to another account. Had we stayed at 8.9%, we would have continued to pay our account without any problems, however, Bank of America has put our family in a situation of great hardship. So far we are paying their required high interest monthly payment and yet they still won't consider anything else. We refuse the debt consolidation because we consider transferring our debt to a company we no longer trust absurd - Bank of America is behaving like a loan shark and seeking monopoly over our situation. We have other credit cards and do not have any problems with them.

This happened a week before the new law was passed to protect consumers against such predatory behavior. Interesting enough, second time we called they had changed their greeting to: "If you did not received a bill, you still responsible for paying it on time" - by that I assume that we are not the only ones that did not receive a bill in the month of July. I truly believe we fell victims of a scam. I am being charged over $100 a month is fees for fees and fees for other fees and late fees for my payment made 8 days before the payment due date seriously. What is going on. you are being reported to CARD and FBI for the abuse you have toward creditors.

My experience with BofA is typical of most of the stories I have read. To make it simple, I missed a payment 6 months ago, and my rate went to 24%. I called BofA and asked them to forgive the rate increase, since I have been an excellent customer since 1994. They told me that I had to make 6 months of payments on time before they would reduce my rate. So, I waited, and on the 6th month, I called again. My balance was $11600.00 with a credit line of 16,500. My 6 month payment was $8000.00.

I made that payment in good faith to help with making a decision to reduce my rate. (I also had a smaller card with $2778 balance and also paid that off at the same time.) So when I called, they would not reduce my rate. They closed the small account and lowered my limit to just a few hundred dollars over the new balance. I kept asking for a supervisor higher up.

Finally after 30-40 minutes, they reduced the rate to 19.99%. (Did I mention that they ran my credit without authorization and said when you ask for a rate reduction, they automatically run your credit history?) I am hugely disappointed. As a long-time customer, I am sure if I paid both off completely, they would have closed both accounts. And I paid the large payment in good faith, as I will need this card for a small expense I expect in mid-July.

I will say this. I am in the real estate business, and I will never send anyone to them for a home loan again. So much for being a responsible consumer and counting on them to hold up to their end of the bargain. (One excuse they told me is the new federal laws they have to go by.) I can tell you these people voted in November 2010 to stop congress from running our personal lives. Oh yeah!

One more thing, I asked for a transcript to be sent to me of the entire conversation. I was told to contact their legal department and that I would need a subpoena to get it. But when I do that, they have a computer glitch and the conversation will be missing! Also, I had 2 other credit cards that reduce my rate just on the phone call. (Citi and Discover... So I know they could have done something if they wanted too.)

I had a credit card revolving account that allowed me a rather high limit (8k). The interest rate was okay, about 18%. That's a lot for this high a balance but okay. I was late once, maybe twice, when BofA upped my interest to 29.9%. This was on an $8000 balance. So now, my interest was about $200 a month and they stated to charge over balance fees too. How did they expect me to pay this off anytime soon with a 30% interest? Why do they practically double your interest rate over night under the concern you're a risk when I practically assured you can't pay it off? It's a trap that assures them a lot of interest profit plus late and other fees. It gets better.

After about four months and the balance creeping up to now $8500. My husband took another loan out to pay it off. We called and got assurances the payoff balance was the same as the statement and that it should make it in time for the period. Well, we sent it in with I believe 10 or more business days to clear. BofA cleared it the day after the closing date and charged us $200 in interest and $116 in fees.

We had just paid them a $8500 pay off and still got a $300 bill the next cycle in return. We disputed this over the few years to no avail. The bill is now $700, all penalties and interest. And when we try to get this worked out with them, they say its a just charge and we have to pay it all or settle. We are trying to settle this, but people need to know that Bank of America is willing and waiting to get you trapped in late and over limit fees so that they can automatically up your interest to mafia rates. My first experience with them was a $500 limit card. I should have learned from it. I paid $50 to $60 a month for a year and at the end of the year, I still have over $500 balance. Somehow practically every month I was charged a late fee. This put me over the limit of the card. So I also got an overlimit fee every month while they charge a high interest and told me the minimum payment was around $50. Pure greed and predatory.

While acknowledging that I had no missing or late payments, I was told that my limit was being dropped $20,000, to what I owed on the card.

The "analyst" asked all types of intrusive questions, also mentioning something about debt counseling. I have a 750 credit score! I said this was probably not the result she was looking for. Heck will freeze over before I ever deal with BOA again. I had a $35,000 credit limit that was only one-third consumed. Therefore, at this point my credit rating is "fair" when it actually should be "good"; therefore I am not able to qualify any type of credit line! Argh!

I have been trying to work with MBNA to pay off my debt to them for 8 years now on a 5 year "loan". They increased my finance charges to be more than my minimum payment due. My minimum payment due was $230, my finance charge was $250. When I called to discuss it and ask them to lower it, so that I could pay it off, I was told they were unable to help me and I need to pay more money then. I asked them how I was supposed to pay off a 5 year loan when they were charging me more than what my payment was. They didn't care.

Fast forward: I lost my job and I called MBNA to see if they could work with me. They told me there was nothing I could do. So, I defaulted. I couldn't afford it and I couldn't justify paying them when they were the only ones that would not work with me. Finally, I was contacted by someone from MBNA that wanted to ask why I had defaulted. I explained my situation to them and what had been occurring. They were able to lower the interest rate 10.1% and stop the finance charges so that I could get my credit back on track. They would do electronic payments for 6 months and then I would need to call in and reauthorize the payments for another 6 months. That was two years ago and I was still being charged a finance charge that surpassed my monthly minimum. They were unable to do 6 months of payments continuously.

I was receiving multiple rude phone calls about being late on my payments. Since I was late, they would stop the agreement I had about low rates so I could pay it off. When I pointed out that they were still charging me a finance charge, they took it off again, but did not and will not take off the money that they added to my total due to those charges. So now, a 5 year loan is going to be roughly a 20 year loan. They are incompetent, rude, and do not want to work with their customers. My credit has been damaged and I will end up paying three times the amount I should have on this loan.

MBNA telesalesmen solicited me several times over the summer of 2000 offering $10,000- $20,000 at a 4.60% fixed rate to be wired into my checking account. The money was sent but I signed nothing. Then, when I got the balance up to $45,000, the interest rate was suddenly increased to 12.99% without notice, even though I'd paid my account on time every month.

I've now paid $9000 in principal (supposed "balance owed" is $36,000) as well as $44,875 in finance charges. When I first saw that the rate had increased, I called to complain and began paying $1000 per month to reduce the balance. When I couldn't afford to do that any longer, I paid $500. Finally, a BOA employee (BOA's FIA Services took over the loan in 2006) reduced the interest rate at my request to 10.99% and said I could do a minimum payment of $350.

Trouble is, when the hardship program came out, the fact that they would need to double my minimum payment for me to take advantage of the h.p. was used as an excuse not to lower my rate, even though I was already on a hardship program for my regular Bank of America card. The fact that I've paid the BOA card down from $12,500 to $8800 in about a year shows that if cards are closed and banks reduce their greedy rates drastically, many people can pay off the balances.

After all, BOA has already made tens of thousands in profits from me because I've been a mortgage holder and Key Advantage checking customer, as well as the holder of 2 large balance cards, for over 10 years. Although I have 40 years of clean credit (no lates,) now FIA has decided that I'm not paying them back fast enough. My minimum payment has recently doubled to $670, which they want me to pay for 5 years so that I can pay back the $36,000 (that I've already paid in their interest), plus a sweet 4.25% for them for 5 years. Some of us work hard for an honest living. I guess smoke and mirrors, untruth in lending, trickery, and entrapment is perfectly legal for those that know how to get away with it.

This complaint is regarding a credit card account that was closed over 1 year ago. My husband mistakenly paid $18,000 to this account. Even though the account was closed, they accepted the payment. When he realized what happened, he immediately called to request the money back. He was told that he would have to wait 3 days. Later, when he called again, he was told it would take 14 days and a check would be issued.

They received this money in 2 payments on March 5 and March 8. Today is March 31. Today, I received a statement from the bank saying that my closed credit card account has a balance of -$18,000.00! I called to find out when I would be getting my money back and was told that it had already been sent to my checking account yesterday. However, I checked my checking account balance and the money is not there.

I understand that it was a mistake on our part by paying the wrong credit card company. But we were still obligated to pay the right credit card company. This caused a financial hardship on us, as it was difficult to come up with another $18,000.00, not to mention the stress and anxiety it has caused. I don't think they should have accepted the money to begin with and certainly should have refunded it right away.

My father has 2 credit cards with BOA that he has been struggling to pay for years. A recent review of the accounts show that as far back as 2008 BOA has been charging $65 each month for credit protection in addition to monthly late fees of $39 for one of the accounts with a balance of $4000 that has grown to approximately $5000. Oh and the interest rate is 26.24%. The second account that has now ballooned to more than $15,000 has been charged each month a fee of $165 for credit protection in addition to the $39 each month late fees (interest rate 26.74%).

My father is 77 years old and retired on a fixed income. We are currently working with FIA to reduce his monthly payments and stop the late fees. However, BOA should not be able to add additional fees to cardholders if a customer is not making consistent minimum payments. The amount of money he has paid for credit protection is well more than the benefit. It's a shame he paid a lot of money for credit protection but his credit was never protected. The cost of the protection has only added grief and regret that he will never be able to repay this debt.

Balance on credit cards have ballooned significantly because of the addition of the added service. My father was too old to benefit from credit protection when they solicited him for this service nor did he understand how much it will cost each month. When my father was working he was always able to pay his debt. He has now become very depressed as he realizes debt has become so large.

Today, the hotel called me and told me that the card would not take this week's charges for the room. I called Bank of America and talked to their credit department and their response to me was that they had taken my $12,000 credit limit down to $1,900. Now mind you, I have never been late or missed any payments. What aggravated me the most is that they never notified me that they were downsizing my credit limit. My complaint is w/ Bank of America's credit card division. I feel I was totally misrepresented and abused by the person I spoke with in regards to my Bank of America Credit Card account. I was so proud to be a holder of such a reputable company. Back in June of 2009, I needed to straighten out a small problem I had and wanted to do a balance transfer with them.

I have always had excellent credit with them and all my accounts. But on that day, I was shocked and blown off my chair. This was my card and no one else's. I took pride in it and looking back on the discussion I had with the account representative, I feel I was mistreated and unfairly taken full advantage of. I asked for a small balance transfer and at the time the representative abruptly told me in his next words, "Ma'am, I need to make a discussion right now. I am taking your card away from you." I asked, "Why?!"

He said, "Because your husband had a Bank of America Card for his business and he had recently made a deal with them to pay off a certain % of it" and because I was married to him, he needed to take my card also. I was the only signer for my card, and did not have anything to do with his card (I was not a signer on his account). He added me to his account as a contact person to speak with them if there were any problems he might have. I asked him why and how can he do this to me. I have always been a faithful card holder and my credit score is excellent. "It's my decision," he said.

So I started to cry, took the card to my husband and cut it up in front of him. He was so sorry for me and said they can't do that. I said, "Well, they did." And to make matters worse, I had an alert on my card report. It seems they added his account debt/ dispute to my credit report. I immediately contacted the credit reporting agency and it was researched and deleted from my records.

To make the story even more heart wrenching, I just got back from a wonderful vacation, but was partners up with a couple in a game of golf. We decided to have dinner that evening and lo and behold, my golf and dinner partner works for Bank of America in NJ and has been with them for sometime. I told him my story and how upset I was, and he said that that didn't sound right. I should have a lawsuit against them. He further said not to worry, that he will bring it to a highest level and return a call to my husband.

He seemed very concerned and sincere. It has been almost 2 weeks and there is no call. I told him to play back the recorded message which led to the stealing of my card. I told him just about word for word what the representative said to me. I feel something smells rotten at Bank of America! Please help me erase the horrible ordeal from my mind. I would honor an attorney to contact me and get to the bottom of this. Thank you in advance for your help!

I have had 2 credit cards for over 25 years with MBNA. Bank of America (BOA) has purchased MBNA and therefore, I now have credit cards with BOA. I also have had a Country Wide mortgage on my house and that is now a BOA mortgage. Somewhere around 6/2/09, I was contacted and offered a rate reduction mortgage from 6% to 4-3/8%. The loan officer said they could drop my monthly payments and combine my HELOC (which is a personal line of credit on my house) with the 1st mortgage and I'd have a reduced mortgage. It sounded good. I did remember that "sounds to good to be true it probably is! " too.

Well, the process involved a $450 deposit to start the process and a home appraisal needed to be done. That was eventually done and after a few months and many promises of "everything looks good! " , they couldn't give me the loan as I had too high of a debt to income ratio. I told the load officer, "So what you're telling me is I can't afford to pay my house payment I've been paying promptly for 12 years." The thought was they wouldn't give me a loan with a reduced monthly rate because I couldn't pay it according to their "tables". If that was true, I obviously couldn't pay what I was currently paying. I was out of luck and that was that!

I called back a few times to try to understand the logic and talk about my $450 which was supposed to be refundable if the loan didn't go through. I was informed my loan officer had changed and I got a new one now. This new officer informed me that although I didn't qualify for the previous loan, I did qualify for a VA interest rate reduction which would be "no problem" since I didn't need to qualify for that. It was a new special program for veterans. Great! I was thinking, I had to get another appraisal and they would need another $450 to get a new appraisal. They would refund me the $450 they owed me. They eventually did too! This new interest rate reduction has been going on after I signed the papers back on 12/28/09.

I've called about every month and am promised a quick resolution to the loan. On 03/24/10, I called again and was told the underwriters are very tied up. If my load is approved it should be by the end of April. I said. "What?! If my load is approved? You said everything was OK and now I find out 3 months later it could be denied! What kind of a process is this?" The loan officer was very sorry but he'd do what he could. "I'm sure it will be okay," he said.

I'm now in limbo with this loan refinance and I'm not sure if I should try to cancel it and move to another bank or what.

In December of 2009, I paid off the credit cards completely. Actually, they owed me almost $100 as I didn't want interest to mess up my payoff. In February of 2010, I called to ask a representative if they were offering any promotional interest checks like they had in the past to encourage me to do a balance transfer from somewhere else to their bank. They said, "Please Hold". After a lengthy delay. they came back and said, "No, we're not offering any promotional things for balance transfers." I said, "Okay, well, that is that." Then the "Account Representative" said, "I'm canceling both of your credit cards!" "What?!" I said. She said, "Due to new government regulations, you have too high of an unsecured debt to income ratio and I'm canceling both of these cards."

I had a MasterCard with a $0 balance with a line of credit of $50,000 and a Visa with a $0 balance with a line of credit of $25,000. And now I have nothing. I used to use both of these cards for business purposes as I am a small business owner. Now I have no operating credit because of what. I talked with her supervisor and got nowhere. If I hadn't called and hadn't paid off the nearly $55,000 that I had owed to BOA on both cards, I would still have them. I would still be paying them down but now I have nothing.

About 2 weeks after this happened, I got a letter in the mail that said they had reduced my credit to $15,000. I figured they must have reconsidered and then just changed my credit limit. One month went by and I decided that for a project I was working on, I'd borrow $10,000 of the $15,000.00 limit as I could pay it back in a couple of months. I was informed that the card was canceled. I called an "Account representative" and was told that that letter must have been sent by mistake. They caught it on the 2/16/10 and "didn't I get the new letter? " Well, no, there was no such letter.

I just figured they were throwing me a bone. Instead, what I got was a kick in the teeth. I did get a letter in a couple of weeks after that event stating my account was cancelled. Now I look at my MasterCard and Visa account via the web and it shows me having a Visa with a $15,000 limit and a MasterCard with a $25,000 limit. I'm sure this is ** too! I'm waiting for the next letter. You just have to laugh because it's so sad. The economic damage so far is in the loss of my business credit line of $75,000. This is very bad timing with the economy being what it is.

On September 28, I was laid off from my job which paid $73K a year. I called Bank of America with the Homeowners HOPE Hotline on the phone. BoA advise us that there was nothing they can do and that I don't qualify for the "Making Homes Affordable," since I had Mortgage Insurance and my loan was backed by Freddie Mac.

In mid-December, I realize my situation was getting desperate, and I was not finding work and only receives $275 a week in FL unemployment. I was told that I make too much for food stamps, and borrowing money from family and friends is not enough. I called back BoA. I spoke to a very nice man (even though it took over 30 minutes to get to the right department). This person advised me that I do qualify but that it takes BoA 45 days to FedEx the Form 1126 and Hardship document. Even though these are on the Making Home Affordable Website, he stated I could not use them.

Well, 45 days came and went, and I received a call from BoA advising me they were so busy and that it was going to be another 30 days, which should be next week. The woman who called me was very nice and explained once I received the paperwork that I can qualify for a 3-month trial but that I must remain current in my mortgage.

I am very very frustrated about this process, as I was a Countrywide customer, and now, BoA purchased them. Between December and the call in mid-February, I must advise you that I called a few times to follow up as I am desperate. I also own a home in Pennsylvania, so I have 2 mortgages, HOA fees in FL, plus all my utility bills. And I am only receiving $1,100.

I cannot keep borrowing money from family and friends. I already owe out close to 10K just since September. I can forward you the article where it stated BoA has been the worst in assisting customers with the Making Homes Affordable. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I called after each overcharge and was told the same thing by several employees: "We're not responsible for the U.S. Mail." I was telling this to friends and it turned out that one of the gals had worked for B of A. She said they are trained to hold off on posting payments until after the due date has passed. On March 3, 2010, I logged to view my checking account, and I noticed that BoA/FIA card services had taken out two credit card payments when I had only authorized one payment. I'm on a fixed repayment plan, and I have been on one for about a year now. Back in January of this year, I contacted a lady through BoA to set up automatic payments to extend three months (January-March).

One payment was already pending for January 15 and would be considered late. (I didn't call to set up the recurring payments until the 15th.). So I verbally decided to let BoA/FIA take out an additional amount to be debited on January 31. This was the only time I approved a double payment. (It was only to play catch up.)

Since the end of January, I have been current on my fixed payments, and they have been debited as expected. Well, on March 3, I checked my account to see if my payment had been processed, and they had taken out an additional amount without my approval, and my account was negative. I contacted customer service, and they told me that I had filled out a form and sent in a voided check authorizing FIA card services to take out an additional amount. I never filled out a form or sent in a voided check. So who did this and said that I approved?

I was too disturbed. BoA was already generating generic check numbers for my automatic debits. I never authorized FIA to take out an additional amount.

If I could afford this, I would have said so. I'm so upset and angry with this bank. It took almost 6 months for someone to even give a legitimate alternative for making my credit card payments. Every person I had talked to before would make it seem as if I had no options available for making payments.

I'm fed up with this bank. The person who authorized the second auto payment should be fired. This isn't legal, and it's not right. The unauthorized second payment gave my checking account a negative balance. I have bills to pay, and now, some of the other payments may bounce because of this incident.

I have had my Bank of America card for a couple years. I always paid with the minimum or more. My credit limit was $9,500. In the fall of 2009, I paid a large chunk and they rewarded me by lowering my limit to $6,500. So a couple weeks ago, I paid my balance off of approximately $6,300 and today, I received a letter informing me of my new limit of $1,000. I have been rewarded in paying my bill with a reduced limit.

So I called their "Credit Analyst" who asked a few questions and basically said that due to my business downward trend and business debt, I was unworthy. I had applied and received a card last fall after BOA reduced my limit from another card company. In researching my account with BOA, they found a $5,000 payment posted to my card which wasn't even mine. So I had a credit balance of $5,000. I am an honest person and reported this mistake. So as I see it, BOA is dying and honest-paying, credit-worthy customers like me are penalized.

Under the advise of my banker and accountant, I was warned that BOA would lower my credit as I paid it off. BOA said since I carried a balance and didn't pay it in full I was obviously struggling and credit cards were no meant to be long term. I asked if I could see the clause where If I didn't pay it off within a certain period, they would reduce my limit.

The bottom line is this, my business relies on credit cards to purchase supplies, inventory and entertain customers. Without business credit, how can we survive? Can BOA explain to my customers why my shelves are empty? Despite the economy, my business has made money the last two years and my debt is 20% of what it was three years ago.

My local bank thought well enough of our performance to give us a new business loan in the fall. It was backed up by the SBA who recognized our performance and finally the local newspaper highlighted our success with a front page article.

My credit has always been sterling. I have been unemployed now for 18 months, and as of today, I am still current on all bills. Back in Dec 2008, my BOA Visa statement showed an interest rate increase to 29.88% and I called BOA to discuss it. In the past, I have called creditors to get my interest rates lowered and have been very successful.

During this conversation I shared my employment status and how this high interest rate would make things even tighter. The gentleman I spoke with said they could help. He described a program with 0% interest for a year while I paid down my debt, which was about $3800. This was a temporary program and I would not be able to use my credit card during that time. An automatic payment from my checking account would be set up also.

I asked if this would have any adverse effect on me, including how it would appear on my credit report. He said absolutely not. And since it was voluntary, I could stop it at any time, or at the end of the year duration, and everything would be just as it was before. I thought this was great and didn't mind not being able to use my card since I had 1 other card. I have always been responsible with my credit but this period of unemployment had forced me to use credit more than I would have liked. I figured I would be employed soon, so it seemed like a win-win to me. Papers were sent to me, they all looked in order and I signed them and the program began.

Soon after, I noticed that the bonus points I'd accumulated were not accessible to me. I called BOA and was told by Lisa that I could not use them during the program but once the program ended I would be able to use them. I was not happy about this because I was not told this initially, but I complied. A year has gone by and although I received no notice from BOA, the program ended because I saw on my statement that my interest rate went from 0% to 13.24%. I called BOA to ask if this program could be extended or the rate lowered. They answered no on both accounts plus I was told that I already had the lowest rate because I was such a good customer.

Through conversation, it came up that this card was permanently suspended, which was news to me. And I was losing all my bonus points. This began a series of phone transfers and 2+ hours of conversations with BOA. The bottom line is that I got conflicting information from different people. Firstly, I misinterpreted the initial program. I have notes that I'd taken but was told that that was not official information.

Secondly, I was correct with how the program was initially set up but the new federal laws prohibited BOA from reinstating my credit card. They said their hands were tied because the government said that any card that was suspended for any reason could not automatically be reinstated. I actually had one man just keep reading over and over from the fed law while talking over me. Another woman suggested I look for places to cut my expenses, like eliminating cable TV, which I'd already cancelled. Yes, I did get pretty hot with that remark.

Long story short, they invited me to reapply for a new credit card which I said we both knew I could not get. And possibly, if I can get my points back, they are still deciding. My biggest complaint is if this is true about how the new federal law has effected my Visa, I feel BOA had a responsibility to inform me prior to the law taking effect so that I could have made an intelligent decision about how I wanted to handle the possible permanent loss of my credit card.

Yes, BOA did send a form letter in Dec 2009, but there was no information on this letter about any suspended accounts. In fact, Citibank sent a similar form letter and offered a choice to all their customers of paying your balance with the old lower rate by which you would lose your credit card and have to reapply or allowing the new higher interest rate and keeping your card. I chose the latter since having been unemployed for so long at this time I worried that I would not easily get a new credit card.

I told this to Ms. ** and said BOA had a responsibility to inform me of what could happen to my suspended account under the new laws and given me that option, she said who in the world would pick a higher interest rate! I told that that is exactly what I had done with Citibank so I could keep my credit card. Then she said they couldn't possibly notify everyone with suspended accounts, which I told her was ridiculous as it was in their data base.

I recently pulled my credit report and saw that BOA had requested my credit information this Jan 2010. I believe that they have purposely withheld information to their customers that were on suspension, whether voluntary or not, so that they could deny them their credit back until they checked their current financial situation. Why else would BOA have pulled my credit info?

I have banked with BOA since 1996. Through various bank acquisitions, I ended up owning three separate credit cards. One card had a credit limit of $40,000. The second card had a $2,500 credit limit. The third card, an airline mileage card, had a credit limit of $15,000. I wanted to transfer some of the available credit from one of the other two cards to the airline mileage card which I use most frequently.

I called and requested the transfer of available credit. I even offered to close one of the cards knowing that closing a card can have a negative impact on my credit score. Instead of transferring available credit to the requested card, BOA lowered my credit limit to $7,500 on each of the other cards. In other words, when I started I had available credit of close to $80,000. When I got done my available credit was $30,000, half of it on cards I haven't used in years.

This afternoon, I closed all of my checking and savings accounts withdrawing almost $60,000. I have applied for a US Airways Mastercard from Barclays Bank, but was advised that I might not get it because of my credit "problems." I don't have any credit "problems". I am debt-free, own my own home, and pay off my credit card in full every month. I suspect that BOA lowering my credit limits has had a negative impact on my credit worthiness, but I won't have proof until I am denied credit. Barclays Bank said I will hear from them within 30 days. I'm frustrated because I have worked very hard to establish my credit. I feel that it was stolen from me without cause. I have never had a late payment.

My complaint is a serious matter pertaining to the constitutionality of a Bank of America "representative" closing two of my Bank of America credit cards without cause. I paid my two high interest credit cards off a few days ago and today I received a phone call from Angel ** (1-410-229-6957) advising me that I had to have a "credit review" with her by phone. My caller ID did not indicate that the call was from Bank of America and I told her I did not want to engage with her via phone. She stated that my Bank of America credit cards would be changed and I would receive information via mail about it.

Less than an hour later, I learned that she cancelled my credit cards. If I was to be "reviewed" for my credit worthiness, she did not obtain any information from me to make her decision. In other words, she cancelled my accounts based only on information from my credit report, which is not a bad report. How can she unilaterally make a decision that my debt to income ratio is wrong if she does not have all the information? She cancelled my cards (because I paid them) and the impact on my credit rating will be adverse. These are Gestapo tactics! My "status" was fine with them while I was paying 25% interest and is suddenly "not acceptable" because I paid them off! The Bank of America representative canceled my credit cards without the information that she would need to make a decision. Adverse information likely on credit report because the bank closed my accounts instead of me closing my accounts.

My story is typical. Loyal customer since 2001. Paid my bills on time. Missed an on-time payment by a few days and my interest rate shot up to 27%. Add in the $260 monthly "fees" that it allegedly costs them to loan me money and lo and behold, I had trouble making my payments and started falling behind. Now, I owe nearly $20,000. Have closed my account with them. Opened up an account with my credit union and happy as a lark.

Note. I still owe BOA $20,000 and climbing because they would not take any payment from me, and refused to acknowledge that they made an accounting mistake. BOA ruined my credit, took way more money from me than they had to. I wish them ill and advise anybody of common sense not to bank with them.

I have discovered that when sent a new credit card from BOA ,they come with a sticker across the front indicating that you must call to activate the card. The sticker indicates that this protects you from fraud and that the "card cannot be used until you call from your home phone number". Actually, after 100 days from them mailing your card, BOA automatically activates your card regardless of any action taken by you. Therefore having to phone to activate is not necessary and is merely an method of BOA marketing additional paid services to cardholders under the false impression that you are being protected from fraud. In fact .my last 2 credit cards from BOA were automatically activated without my knowledge, consent, or authority.

This automatic activation of credit cards permits anyone to charge services or goods against the credit card without our consent and places the burden of dispute on the card holder even though the cardholder did not activate the credit card. The BOA sticker implies that the phone activation requirement provides fraud protection to the card holder is not true. Phone activation or the absence of phone activation does absolutely nothing to protect the consumer or card holder after 100 days. This is misleading and false. The BOA terms should identify that this automatic activation will take place without any action or authority by the consumer and card holder. If the credit card was on file at a merchant, they can continue to charge against the card even though the consumer has not activated the card. This is a deceptive practice by BOA.

B of A lowered my credit without warning! I have had the Alaska Airlines B of A signature card for two years now. I have always been a good customer, paid my bill on time and even early in most cases. I always paid 3 to 4 times the minimum monthly payment. This month, I had an emergency and I reached out to B of A and asked for a credit line increase. They responded by reducing my credit line to the current balance. They have provided no explanation for this in writing so I called and tried to ask.

The customer care person who answered the phone was nice and then suddenly stopped and said I can help you and then made a comment about the computers being down. The funny thing, however, is she had all my account information when we first started to talk, then suddenly no access. When I pushed her, she finally said that I would have to call the credit department the next day if I want any help. I asked why they had not notified me and she said they were not obligated to notify me unless they were changing the terms of the account. It seems changing the available credit is changing the terms of the account. Anyway, I don't know what, if anything, I can do and frankly will likely just pay off the card and get rid of it. It's sad, in a way, as I really enjoyed the Alaska Airlines perks that went with the card.

I have had a revolving CC account with Bank of America since 1997. Prior to that time, the account was owned by 2 other cc companies. My outstanding balance is $36,578.78. I have paid this balance in interest at least 1x. Since the banking bail out and the "new regulations", B of A has elected to require payment of this account within 5 years. My previous minimum payment was $219 and my usual payment was between $300-350 monthly. The new payment is $536 per month. When I called B of A to let them know that this was a hardship for me, they indicated that they could do nothing to help make my payment schedule more affordable.

The agent stated that I could make whatever payment I could afford but that the balance would then be reflected in my next month's payment. That would mean that on top of the $536, I would have a carry over of what wasn't paid the previous month and there would be subsequent late charges and fees. You can see that I would very quickly owe much more than the existing balance and no head way in repayment of the CC could possibly be made. This more than doubling of my payback schedule has put me in quite a bind.

I have never been late or missed a payment and in fact have routinely paid more than the minimum payment on this card. If I can't meet the banks expectation of the more than double repayment schedule, my credit rating will be tanked and the outstanding balance of the card will raise exponentially as the late fees and interest on the balance grows. This is an impossible situation and I feel a very criminal act on the part of the bank.

I have an LL Bean credit card that originally was with MBNA then taken over by Bank of America. LL Bean has since dropped Bank of America and has joined with Barclay. They have had their previous customers reapply to Barclay for an LL Bean credit card. I stopped using the BOA credit card at this time since I wasn't satisfied with the service and I now had one with better service and rates. Last summer (2009) BOA sent me an offer on the still existing credit card with a new $27,000 limit (more than twice any offer I've ever received). This included a 0% one year balance transfer for a 3% transaction fee. I took advantage of this deal to an amount of $23,000. Incidentally, they tried to get me to do the full $27,000. I only needed to get the $23,000 out of a high interest situation for approximately 6-9 months and I would be able to pay it off. So I stuck with the original dollar amount which turned out to be the only smart move I made.

For the record, this was an online account that I had always received a "statement ready" alert on my e-mail and a hard copy in the mail. When I hadn't received any correspondence for a while I called the customer service line. Well, guess what? They said their records showed that a copy of the statement had been "processed". No on-line statement was sent supposedly since I hadn't requested it. It was always automatic before. My account was now almost 10 days overdue with a late fee and my 0% was in default. I had to request a statement to be sent out. My very first statement, which I never received, clearly shows that I never had the "0"% to start with. The balance transfer I paid $690 for was at 11.9% from the very start. And to top it off, I've never received a credit card. I couldn't use this account if I wanted to.

I have spoken to several representatives and gotten nowhere. I now have the funds I was anticipating and have paid the current balance. At this time I am prepared to pursue BOA for the money they owe me. I will get legal help if I have to. And I don't ever want to do business with them again. I will consider it harassment if they ever contact me again. 11.9% interest (plus 3% transaction fee) on $23,690 from Aug. 2009 to Feb 2010. I was only able to make the minimum payment for this period which was approximately $450 and there for the balance was stagnant.

As of February 2010, Bank of America has decided to close my credit card account permanently. A day or two before I received any letter from Bank of America about the matter, my credit card was already closed. When I received the letter on February 18, 2010, it stated that, "The account referenced above is scheduled to expire soon. After a careful review, we are unable to renew your account at this time. The account is closed effective immediately. The principle reason(s) that contributed to this decision are as follows: Serious delinquency..."

During that night, I signed up for a free three bureau credit report and score. While viewing my report, I noticed that my payment history over the past 24 months for Bank of America were filed as current and in good standing (green color) and underneath the account status Bank of America had commented under the three bureaus stating, "Credit line closed-grantor request-reported by subscriber: Account closed by credit grantor credit card; Canceled by credit grantor."

The next day, I contacted Bank of America credit card services and spoke my concern with the first representative then he transferred me to another department. At that time, I spoke with a female representative and expressed my concern to her about why my credit card was being closed permanently. She informed me that I was late five times within a 12 month period as well as I was over my limit a couple of those times. She also informed me that due to my lack of history with credit cards and with Bank of America, they saw fit that my account should be closed permanently.

Being frustrated of the matter, I informed her that during those five times that were late, I contacted Bank of America credit card services and got those situations resolved with fellow supervisors and representatives. I also informed her that of those five times that I were late, they were only one day over my monthly due date, because Bank of America documents a monthly payment as being late the same day that it is due after 5 pm.

I asked her if Bank of America was making a fair choice towards a valued customer. While further talking and voicing my opinion about the matter, the female representative gave me constant silent treatments, stating that I was not asking her any questions. At that moment, I simply told her to transfer me to another representative in her department of higher ranking because she was not paying my concerns any attention. She repeatedly told me that no one else was available and that I should call back if I wanted to speak with another person besides her.

With frustration, I informed her that I would not get off of the phone until she found someone else of higher ranking than she to speak with. Finally, after a 10 minute hold, I spoke with a representative named Kevin. Again, I voiced my concerned and told him that I did not understand the actions that Bank of America was taking in regards to closing my account. I informed him that I had been a credit card holder since 2007 and have never had this problem in the past. I also voiced to him that since 2007, I have paid my BOA credit card in full payment twice and have been steady with monthly payments until recently. I also voiced that during the five times that I was late, while speaking with representatives and supervisors that told me that my account would be okay once the payment was made, they never informed me that my account was in jeopardy of being closed or that it was being closely monitored because of the late payments. Representative Kevin told me that he understood all that I was saying but the evaluation was not going to change due to BOA guidelines.

He further explained some factors that resulted in BOA closing my credit card account which were: my credit score had dropped and that while observing my report, BOA found that I had made late payments with one of my student loans in 2008 and early 2009. I told him that the actions were not fair and that the factors that BOA evaluated on my credit report as well as being late five times in a year after explaining it to the BOA credit card department didn't make any sense to be counted as serious delinquencies, especially if I were a day late with those five payments.

Finally, I informed him that I understood everything that he was telling me was company protocol and that I would find a higher ranking representative than he to speak with tomorrow because the action is truly unfair. I used my BOA credit card to gain credit history because most of my history is with student loans. Now that BOA has taken extreme measures in unreasonably closing my account, I am unable to perform that task. Also due to the comment that BOA made on my credit report, even though it shows on my report that I was in good standing with my credit card, I don't think another major credit card would consider me as a customer, because it may arouse some doubt that a previous credit card company closed my account.

He paid it without fail but died suddenly in October 2009. When I called BOA their response was to take his name off the account and lower the credit line to what was owed and close the other account that was in my name. I came to find out that this account was actually opened in January 06 by my husband using my good credit and that it was a new credit card.

I asked BOA for a copy of my application with my signature on it. Four times they sent me a computer printout with my information, something my husband would know (as would every identity thief out there). I went to a branch and was told that it was not opened at a branch either online or by phone. The fraud department refuses to open a fraud case. I thought the legal system in the US required due process. It's like saying we think you are guilty so we won't give you a jury trial. So I get regular phone calls saying that now I am two months behind. I tell them that I will not pay this debt because it is not my debt. Today was the first time I lose my cool and I am sending the letter I sent last week. I'll send it every week if I have to. This has to be against some law to turn down the request for a fraud investigation. Every divorcing spouse better watch out if they could be held responsible for what credit their spouse applies for during the divorce process.

BOA claims that $29,200 is owed on this credit card. In spite of a detailed record of the problem I get regular calls letting me know that I am behind. It is very stressful. In addition to this, they lowered my credit limit from $30,000, to $13,000 without any notice. I told the person I spoke with that it was unfair for BOA to lower my credit line, and that while the bank had gotten it's bailout from the government, they owed it to their long time stellar account holders to extend the credit offered, before the economic downturn.

The rep rushed on to tell me that BOA had paid back the money it had received in bailout funds. In a nutshell, the bank is penalizing me because they made bad choices in extending credit to every Tom, Dick and Harry that came in. Now, they are trying to fix things. Shame on Bank of America! My husband and I are attempting to do the right thing with regards to the payment of our credit card debt each month. My husband and I are both fortunate to be working full-time and have good paying jobs. Recently, my elderly mother moved in with us and thus our living expenses increased. My husband is paid on a commission basis and his income fluctuates each month but he has a base pay.

Basically, we have found ourselves getting deeper and deeper in debt due to the high interest rates and fees being charged by the bank's issuing credit cards. We have moved to an all cash basis and vowed not to use our credit cards unless there would be an emergency.

Discovering that our monthly credit card payments are now more of throwing money away versus lowering our debt, I attempted to negotiate with Bank of America to lower our monthly payment and interest rate for at least the next six months. I have always made the minimum payments but would like to have more money to cover our increase in living expenses without further burdening my mother's limited resources. The first representative I talked with was willing to work with us and gave me a reasonable monthly figure and interest rate. Before I committed to this offer, I needed to look at our monthly budget and also consider other offers from creditors. I have now had four lengthy conversations with four different customer service representatives with Bank of America.

Finally, Bank of America has now decided that they aren't going to work with us - period. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that they had all gone for the day. Being a supervisor myself, I find it hard to believe that they would have people negotiating financial arrangements without a supervisor present! Anyway, I asked how we were supposed to reduce our debt if they were not willing to renegotiate our interest nor our minimum payment and they replied to file bankruptcy. I find this appalling!

Now I am left with making a tough decision about what to do. Do I pay them a token payment each month, knowing they are going to tack on high fees and continue with 27% interest or what?

I would like to see the bank's issuing credit cards to be required to work out payment agreements, especially if they received TARP money. I would also like for taxpayers be allowed to deduct the interest paid on credit cards on their federal taxes again. I'm not sure what the answers are for those of us seeking solutions to the never-ending tactics of the bank's issuing credit cards.

We will be charged high monthly fees, high interest rates, damage to credit reports, potential legal action and continued economic hardship. Physical damage is due to stress.

I always pay more than the minimum. How can I fight this? If paying more than the minimum results in a credit line decrease, how can I ever get this paid off? My credit score will be affected because it will look like I have spent up to the maximum on this credit line.

They kept telling me different stories about their policies, would not provide me a copy of their policies in writing, and denied my claim even though I filed it on a timely basis after the agreed-on shipping date with the merchant. I just received a call for my husband from a Bank of America representative on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 4.05pm. John ** requested to speak to my husband and I informed him that he wasn't in. I suggested that he contact my husband on his cellphone. He asked me to give a message to my husband to call John ** 866 ext. 9013, reference **.

Then, he asked me if I was Priscilla, and I said yes. He continued to tell me that he was calling from Bank of America regarding an outstanding credit card balance of $30,000. My husband was refusing to pay and was refusing to negotiate. He then proceeded to ask me why "we" were refusing to pay the debt. I immediately informed him that this was not my debt, I did not apply for it, was not aware of it, did not co-sign for it and has never been contacted by Bank of America regarding this credit card and was not responsible for it.

I was very angry as I have my own Bank of America credit cards that I use and payoff. He then had the nerve to ask me why I was angry and my response was I did not like being told I was refusing to pay my husband's credit card bills. No bills were addressed to me and he should be talking to my husband. This is the first time Bank of America has ever discussed my husband's accounts with me. I did not co-sign or apply for his credit card.

I ended the conversation with the Bank of America representative as he started saying that I was raising my voice. I was not rude, just very angry that he had the nerve to discuss my husband's account with me. Isn't it against the law to discuss someone else's financial or medical information with anyone, even a spouse? I think this is a double standard and feel that Bank of America have no right to talk to me.

While my husband's credit rating and of course, the consequences of his inability to payoff his debt will affect me as his spouse, surely, Bank of America has no right to harass me. I am so annoyed and frustrated. I have good credit, I am, of course, not happy that my husband's credit has gone down the drain. How come Bank of America didn't notify me prior to lending my husband the amount they lent him, if they now feel that I am somehow responsible for not paying this debt?

I would like to know what my rights are. Of course, I blame my husband for putting me in this position and, of course, the economy he lost one of his jobs; he was trying to start up his own business. Unfortunately, you can't pay off what you don't have. It's either that or the mortgage. He had very good credit prior to this. There is nothing I can do about it. I have my own bills to pay which I am doing and cannot assist my husband financially as a result. I do not know how this will impact me. I would like to know what I am responsible for and if Bank of America has the right to foist my husband's debt on my head. Thanks. Who should I be calling or writing to at Bank of America? What can I do?

They are trying to screw me out of a few months. They are reneging on their end of the deal. Did they think I would not notice this on my bill? I am tired of calling, emailing them of their own incompetence of not being able to get my new address correct for many months, not being able to get my new name correct for months of trying, not sending me my bills so that I have to create my own pay stubs and then I pay online (for which they penalize me $6 + extra fees to use their online service; no other bank does that to me), then they try to finagle me out of the last few months of the introductory offer that they promised to me and I have the paperwork to prove it! I talked to rep and he stated it was 34 days in the month so that was why and next month which is now this billing cycle the minimum would go back to the normal of around $330. Now my minimum is $500! This is a closed account! My agreement when I closed the account was $330 a month.

Since BOFA acquired this account you have been messing around with the $330 due to extra days in a month. After an hour on hold trying to get to a live person, I am telling you that on a closed account you cannot change the terms of the account. I can't afford $500 a month. I can afford $330 a month. I have never paid late on this account and I have made the agreed payments even with your variations and deviations with the original terms of the loan. I expect BOFA to keep to the agreement. Otherwise, I will have no alternative but to default on the entire loan. I am on a fixed income. I have tried to work with this company. I am more than willing to pay the $330 a month but I cannot do $500. I just want to know due to the new law if I default on this account can my other card companies retaliate like they used to?

My complaint is the "automatic recurring monthly payment" available by BoA for the credit cards it acquired with the MBNA merger. The auto-pay system for BoA issued cards is different from MBNA cards. It continues to be this way this long after the merger. The reason that's significant is this. The MBNA payment process does not automatically withdraw the payments. It withdraws them once a month on a pre-determined date regardless of due date on the credit card. However, the due date for payments fluctuates between every 14 days to 28 every 28 days (though this should change after Feb. 22nd). For BoA issued cards, their website allows for authorization and payment when the payment is due for every billing period.

The result is, at least a few times each month, there will be a missed payment on the MBNA card. Even though a person has accepted the agreement that MBNA can withdraw the funds, MBNA and BoA choose to not accept payment on the date due. When the merger happened, this situation caused a missed payment (by less than 24 hours, as I checked the payment status on the day after the due date). This was the year of the merger (2003?). My interest went up from 12% to 24%.

I paid off the card and am closing my accounts and moving to a different bank/card. But to have a penalty/risk rate for 3 years when MBNA/BoA had authorization to take the payment is anti-customer. Given BoA's behavior has been to not incorporate MBNA cards into the BoA payment process, I would say that choice is intentional which leads me to believe that I can't be the only person this has happened to. If I could find enough people, I'd be willing to pursue legal action.

Since I didn't have a balance with them, and had forgotten I still had an open account, I called to transfer a small balance that lovely Barclays had raised to 23%. This was only for $1,800. The CSR offered to also transfer a Capital One balance, but would need to raise my limit. It sounded good so far. The "credit manager" where he transferred me to, decided I owed too much money, "even though you have a perfect history, and an excellent credit score". He closed my account on the spot.

I was dumbfounded and speechless. I called back after I collected my thoughts, and got the rudest woman. I was concerned that by BOA closing my account, it would affect my credit score. She said it could, but my credit score was in my control, not theirs, in a very snotty tone. When I started to voice my aggravation, she hung up on me. The most frustrating thing I guess, is the lack of concern from BOA. I was treated like a loser who never pays my bills, even with golden credit. I have never walked away from a debt in my life. To be treated like this is wrong. I will not do business with BOA in the future. But guess what, they really don't care if I do or not.

I have had a BOA credit card for years, usually carried around a 4000 balance on my card. In about Aug. 2008, BOA was offering 7.9% for balance transfer so I took advantage of the offer, wrote a 500 check, deposited it in my checking and then paid off a higher interest card. What happens now should blow everyone's mind. Since the Aug. payment, I have paid at least 30-40% above the minimum payment so the balance would come down. Just recently, I took the time to look over my bill to see why my balance never really came down. Remember, I pay my bill online and never took time to look at the statement. (How dumb was I).

After checking about 15 months of statements, I noticed that they had a cash advance on my bill and was charging me 25.99%. All my payment went towards the lower interest part and not one penny at any time went towards the cash advance, even though I was making on an average of 40.00 above my minimum payment thinking it would bring down that cash advance balance. So in Aug. 2008, I used a check from BOA in the amount of 500.00. Today I have a balance on credit card of 806.45 for the 500.00 I used to pay off another card. In about 16 months BOA has charged me an interest of over 300.00 and never taking a penny off when I was paying an extra 40.00 a month. I made a phone call to BOA customer service and they said they did this because they can and I had no recourse. It's amazing we, the taxpayer, bailed out BOA but BOA will stick it to the people that kept their head above water. This is criminal! BOA makes it impossible to pay off their credit cards.

I've been a Bank of America credit card holder for 13 years, and until I moved to an area where they don't have branches, I had my checking, saving, and HELOC accounts with the Bank of America company as well for more than 10 years. All accounts were and always had been in good standing. I'd never had a problem making my credit card payments, never went over my balance, and in fact, tended to carry a balance on my card. While I was traveling over the holidays, I inadvertently missed making my Bank of America credit card payment that was due on 12/31, the payment due amount was $15. I discovered this when I tried to charge $20 yesterday and my card was declined.

I called Bank of America. I was told that the policy meant that my account was frozen and would be until payment was received. However, at one point during the discussion, I was told that I could speak to another department about getting my card reinstated today. Instead, the person I was transferred to told me that because I'd missed my payment, my credit limit was going to be lowered. And they did lower it - by 96%. Yes. 96%. Not in half, or by a third, but they nearly wiped out my credit limit altogether.

I cannot make sense of it and I'm in shock. My credit card was my safety net. If anything should ever go terribly wrong in life, I had a backup, it was protection against the unexpected. It terrifies me to think of needing emergency funds for any reason now because there aren't any anymore. Not to mention what this will do to my credit score. I am so distressed. I feel so uneasy and completely let down. Why would a company that I've done business with for more than 10 years do this over one missed $15 payment?

I called to ask for an increase on one of my credit cards and find myself getting reviewed for them all. I had $40,000 in credit available before the phone call. I was never late, over a 780 credit score for years, cards below $15,000 owed. Then, I was told that I have too much credit for my income. I told him, "Was I ever late?" "Was I ever underwater?" No, I have $130,000 in credit cards available with less than $25,000 owed and they didn't want to hear it. The kicker is they lowered my cards to a few hundred dollars over what I owe. So now, you put me from below 30% to over 95% on three cards. That is going to kill my credit score showing that on it.

I just think that it's total discrimination against a person to hurt them when we are all doing the right thing and try so hard to make it in these times. I also feel that these and all CEOs would be nothing without us. But I think that we all are getting tired of doing what's right, and getting hurt for it. Why should we care if they don't?

I received a letter cancelling a BOA credit card I have had for seven years because I have "a pattern of late payment on accounts with other creditors." The funny thing is I just pulled my credit report because I already knew that in the past seven years, I have never, yes, never been late on any payment to anyone ever. I pulled the credit report from Equifax which they looked at and it clearly shows that I have never been late as far back as you keep credit records.

Maybe the letter should have read, "We are cancelling due to lack of use since there is a zero balance" and there has been a zero balance since 1999. Inactive is a good excuse. Although now like many Americans, my debt to credit ratio just went up, thanks to old BOA. When is someone going to cancel them? This has caused my credit rating to go from 754 to 658 because my debt to credit ratio went down. This raises the interest rate on a line of credit I was applying for at my bank. Needless to say, it was not BOA.

Does anyone see that these large banks are going to do this to millions of Americans impacting their credit scores? Then turn around and say, "Because of your credit score, we will have to charge you a higher interest rate?" It is theft, just legal.

On January 15, 2010, I received a letter from MNBA White Sox credit card stating that they had closed out my credit card. This is a credit card I have held for more than 10 years and have paid off on three different occasions, when my balance was $4,000 or more. I thought I had such a good standing with the company because for a number of years they raised my limit to $23,300. Until March of 2009 when the company sent me a letter stating that they were lowering my line of credit to $11,000 because they reviewed my account and realized they have been too generous in the past with their line of credit. This I excepted at the time because of the economy, which I was told was their main reason. I dealt with the cut in the credit line because of the economy but I am having a hard time with the company dismissing me as a long time, good standing customer because of the economy.

Well, the reason they gave was because I have an outstanding mortgage loan. I could accept this if my mortgage was behind or my home pending foreclosure but it's not. In fact, when I purchased my home in 1994 for $62,900, there have never been any missed or late payments. I currently owe $39,000 on my mortgage and eight more years to pay on my home. In fact, they have this on my main screen of my account. Now when I look up my account online, as the reason my account was closed out. Then I was told that I could apply for the card at a later time and they will revisit my account and reconsider opening my account. Why? Should I? In fact, I don't see any reason why anyone I know that I have talked about MBNA cards with, and they've decided to apply for one over the years should continue to carry this card.

I am upset and very disappointed with the way MBNA handled this situation of a valued important customer. And because of this closure of my account when I've attempted in the past week to apply for other cards, I have been denied because they are looking at the closure of this card and not knowing that it was closed not due to any fault of my own. And lastly, when I attempted to contact customer service to obtain a phone number and address to the corporate office of MBNA, I was told, after being put on hold 3 or 4 times and a lengthy amount of 20 minutes, that there was no phone number to the office. I am very disappointed at the way MBNA decided to handle my account and a valued long time customer.

Option suggested was to raise my credit limit. Account Manager, Jeff suggests that answering such questions will determine whether I qualify for a credit increase. I only asked him what his opinion will be on the matter based on him being a customer service representative of BOA.

Questions / Answers presented: He said he will now transfer me over to a credit analyst to determine whether I qualify - this is to have a credit report done on my account which I actually didn't ask him to do this, I only asked for his opinion whether I'd be eligible for a $200 increase in credit. He explained he needed to transfer me to a credit analyst that time. I agreed to be transferred but in fact he never gave his opinion and most likely was instructed in this sequence of question and answers to deceive customers to get them to have a credit report.

Credit analyst asks exact same questions and then determines my credit of $5,800 needs to be reduced by $600 making it $5,200. The rest was complaint and me telling them about their deceptive business tactic. Now, I certainly don't have nearly as much of credit reduction as others have posted or talked about, but I too was tricked, deceived and feel like I was duped.

A couple of days after I did it the last time I found a couple of overdrafts fees in my account, and I will explain what they have told me about it just after making clear that once I make the transfer from my wife's account, I log in to mine and the money is there in my available balance, and only then I make the payment. When I asked in a branch office, they called online banking who told me about a 10:45 pm cut off hour, and how my transfer (from my wife's account) was at 10:46 pm! So, although the money was showing on my available balance, it was not really available since I missed the cutoff.

As soon as I got home, I contacted an online specialist through Bank of America chat, who told me that the transaction occurred at 8:46 pm and should have been posted on the day before. I asked my wife to call the next day just to clarify the issue. The person initially told her with complete lack of care that obviously there was a cut off and that it was 8 pm! When he realized she had already information of the issue, his final word after a lot of time was that the transaction was made at 7:46 pm Pacific Time; hence, 10:46 pm Eastern Time.

Next day I decided to try my luck with another online representative who made every effort to avoid telling me the time and just asked me to call online banking. When I pushed for what should be regular information (as the previous online specialist had already given me the time of the transaction) her final word after a very long time was: "Unfortunately, I cannot comment on that". And she told me to call online banking. Clearly there are issues with their online banking service and they do their best to cover their own mistakes. I got two $35 overdraft fees.

This is not related to any one transaction. My complaint is about Bank of America and their practices. I have had a credit card with Bank of America for many years. In February 2008, the trouble began. I was a few (not more than 5 days late) on my payment. I am in real estate and my paycheck was starting to go down at that time. They increased my interest rate and my payments skyrocketed. I could no longer afford to pay my payments because of the increase in fees and payments.

I have worked hard all of my life to build my credit. I had good credit. I was 52 years old. Because the payments went up, I could no longer afford to pay it. I called them and asked them if they could work with me and they said no, they could not. I have no relatives to borrow from and my husband could not pay them because he had all he could pay. This started ruining my credit because they refused to work with me. I have always used credit cards to get my son and daughter through college. I have always had intentions of paying it back.

I could not believe the treatment I received. They were very rude and inflexible. They were threatening and I was also told lies. They have now put a judgment against me on my credit, and they also plan to execute the judgment. I am appalled at their deceptive practices and I wanted you to know because other good people are probably being hurt by Bank of America. I have lost everything as a result of the downturn in this economy. I will never forget the lack of compassion, rudeness, being inflexible, and the deceptive practices of Bank of America. Banks are getting too big to control. They can do what they want when they want.

My guess is that more people would have paid their credit card bills rather than go into default if Bank of America had worked with them in the first place and the banks would need no bailout money. Bank of America deserves no bailout. They are ruthless! I have a judgment of $5100 and I would like it removed. They are trying to execute it now.

When I respond to their solicitation they made the offer at least 3 times. I was directed to call BoA's service dept., which I did, and spoke to "Shadea". She took my payment info, then told me it would not be credited to my card until the next day, since (1.) it was a Sunday, and (2.) the website, which I had used successfully before in the evening (PST), was closed to me now because it was after 5 PM EST.

The website, **, was originally given to me by another BoA representative to make payments after 5 PM after I complained about BoA's predatory practices and threatened to complain to consumer affairs and my congress person. My payments were credited then on the date they were made. Now, they have changed their practices, yet again! All I want is to have my payment credited to my account on the day the payment is made by 5 PM local time, which is what I understand Congress has now legislated banks to do.

Furthermore, BoA credit statements have 2 due dates on them if a payment is missed. The first due date is at the top of the statement. The second is in the middle of the statement and reads, payment is due "within 27 days of the above statement closing date". That date changes month to month, "because there are different numbers of days of each month", as I was told by another phone representative. This is purposefully confusing and smacks of predatory practices by BoA.

I am sick of their exorbitant fees and graft practices. They have secret websites for those who protest too loudly, which they change to confuse people completely, thinking that we will not follow up on our threats to complain to legal resources. I am outraged they took a taxpayer bailout, then turn around and rip us off even more. I want my payments to be credited on the day they are made by 5 PM local time, and I want one due date, not two.

I also encourage our government to continue to pursue the reduction in fees and charges to be more in line with reasonable business practices.

So I had an account with MBNA since 1998. They were bought by BOA. I noticed my CC had expired and called for a new one. They said that even though they had just given me a home loan for $400k 4 months before (and I have been on time with every payment), they didn't feel comfortable with the limit on my CC! Huh?

I have never made a single late payment to them and have paid that card off in lump sums 3-4 times over the life span. So they reduced my limit by 80%. I am paying off that credit card. (I only have $700.00 measly dollars left on it to pay, and I'll never ever, ever use it again.) Take that, BOA. I hope others do the same.

I've been a loyal customer of Bank of America over 15 years, and they are just letting us down and don't care about us, little guys that keep them in business. They're not hearing our voices. I called BOA up to transfer my balance. They said they cannot at this time, because a report on my credit report lower my credit even though the error was a company fault due to billing errors. They corrected the problem and sent out a letter of correction. BOA did not want to acknowledge that error, even with the company fax or sending them the letter at fault.

The customer service at BOA said they review my account again in six months. What?! And I never been late with BOA, even though my balance is one thousand dollars. And I have paid two homes off with BOA. Is this the way they treat their customers? Yes, I am ** off, because there's no consideration at all. They're fast to take your money but will diss you at a blink of an eye. The only consideration they're getting from me is an account closed!

I had problem paying my mortgage for July and called BOA for help. I was put in touch with a rep. The bottom line is I was asked to make a reduced payment for that month and the difference made over a period time. I have to continue to make the payment, however, they have continued to jack up my payment and tagged on illegal late fees. I have been paying $3080 vs $2670 for the past 8 months. The problem is I can't get anyone talk to me. I have been out of work for more than 3 years so I don't have the money even for the regular $2670.

Everyone should be aware that even if you have played by the rules, there will be no reward for this at all. In fact, it is those of us who have kept making our payments whom they will go after. There's no reward of any kind for doing the right thing. Like thirsty parasites, they will clamp on even tighter. The irony is we own these companies now. We bailed them out with our tax dollars, so technically, these people work for us. It does not matter. A parasite is not supposed to kill its host, but these people will try.

My story is simple but horrifying. As predicted, I started to see weird charges on my credit card with BofA. So as difficult as it was, I took the little savings I had and paid off the card completely. The very same day they received my payment, they sent me a bill for a $12.25 finance charge. That was on the same day! When I called them, they told me if I did not pay this $12.25 charge, I could be charged interest and extra fees based on the unpaid finance charge! In other words, I would never ever be able to pay off or get out from under this card ever.

Needless to say, I was beyond livid. Do you know what this kind of business practice is? Extortion. And they operate now like a mafia. It was only after demanding to talk to various supervisors and threatening to file complaints with everyone I could think of (Comptroller's Office and Department of Corporations in CA) that they told me they would "waive" the $12.25 fee. I then demanded they send me a letter saying my account was completely closed and no more fees/charges would be applied to it. I just got the letter.

This is your reward for paying your debts in America - extortion. I was able to close the card, but God help me because BofA is my mortgage company as well. I am thinking of doing a refinance (for which they want to charge me $450) after being ripped off by Quicken Loans for $500. But I am filled with trepidation. You have to think of these people like a mafia, because this is how they operate now. The real mafia is probably not happy about it. It's competition!

I mailed three payments to the credit card companies on December 4, 2009. Two of the checks posted to the accounts, but Bank of America has yet to post my payment. I have contacted the company. They are blaming the mail, but the other two got theirs. I noticed that every payment I make to this company takes longer than 2 weeks. I feel that they are holding the payment to be able to charge a larger finance charge.

As of my 12/15/09 statement closing date on my Bank of America account, my credit limit was $23,000. I never requested that large of a limit. They just increased it periodically over the 8 or so years I have had the account. I pay this account balance in full on time every month. I actually have it set up to automatically debit my checking account on the appropriate date. On December 19, 2009, my daughter was using her card on this account to make a $108 purchase at Wal-Mart. The card was declined. My balance at this time was $3,297.85 (well below the $23,000 limit I had on the 12/15 bill). I drove to Wal-Mart to pay for her purchase and then came home and checked my account activity online, thinking that I had been the victim of identity theft. When I saw that my credit limit had been reduced, I called the customer service number. The Customer service rep that answered on that Saturday night said he could not answer any questions about credit limits and provided me with the Credit Services phone number, (866) 811-4158.

I spoke with a woman and explained what had happened, thinking that this was some huge mistake. She told me that my account has recently been reviewed and that my debt was too high so they arbitrarily reduced my limit to $3400, which was $102 more than my current balance. My debt amount had not increased since the last time they increased my credit limit. In fact, it's been reduced. I didn't realize that FIA Card Services handled BofA accounts until I read it on this website; however, it makes perfect sense now. In addition to the credit limit reduction on this account that I pay in full every month, they also reduced my credit limit on an account that I have 6.9% interest on which I pay in installments each month. The current balance is $10,377. That account had a $16,000 limit on the 12/15/09 statement. Ironically, it was reduced to $10,500 today (12/21/09) when I talked to them. On 12/17/09, I received the monthly statement on my FIA Card Services account. I do not have this account by choice. It is tied to my Regions checking account as Overdraft Protection. Years ago, my savings account was tied to my checking for OD protection but the bank discontinued that practice in favor of this FIA Card Services credit account.

At any rate, I make payments on this account using Regions online banking. I set it up to automatically pay $100 each month (at least 10 days before the due date to ensure the payment has time to arrive). The minimum payment due in December was apparently over $100. I didn't actually receive that statement. It seems that the FIA Card Services statement doesn't make to my mailbox every month. I may get 2 in a row, then one doesn't show up. At any rate, I called FIA Card Services and spoke to a very nice gentleman named William who accepted a phone payment of $200. I was only about $25 short on my original payment but thought that the additional payment would be a show of good faith on my part. William agreed to waive the fee for making a phone payment so I was able to give them $200 for free. He also credited my account for the late payment fee since I was such a valued customer - his words. Then, he noticed that my interest rate was quite high - over 20% and asked if I would like him to transfer me to a Customer Retention representative. I agreed and spoke to Robin.

That is where this entire story really started. I gave her some personal information and she put me on hold to see what she could do about the rate. When she returned to the line, Robin told me that she couldn't reduce my interest rate because these charges on my account were cash advances to my checking account and the cash advance rate couldn't be reduced. I said I understood and thanked her anyway. That's when she told me that she would be reducing my credit limit on that account. The limit has been $10,000 for several years. I pay timely but not usually in full every month. The balance of this account when I spoke to her was $5,024 (less the $200 payment I had made minutes earlier over the phone). She reduced the limit to $5300. I asked her why it was being reduced since I had been a good customer, paying on time. She told me that she wanted to bring my balances down. I don't know exactly what this means, since my revolving credit balances have decreased over the past few years, not increased.

We had a heated discussion about the definition of Customer Retention. I did not use any foul language. I only stated that these practices were not fair and they cared nothing about customer. I also told her that FIA could take a flying leap then hung up, not my finest moment but I take this personally. On these three accounts, I had a total of $49,000 credit limit on 12/15 and owed about $18,000 ($3,400 of this would be paid on the next due date so the real outstanding balance would be about $15,000). I have over $100,000 open equity in my house alone. I'm not exactly a credit risk. Now, thanks to FIA Card Services, my debt to credit ratio was about 36% on 12/15. By 12/17 after my conversation with Robin, my ratio debit/credit limit ratio was about 100%.

I have 2 Bank of America credit accounts, one is a card and the other uses credit checks. My credit card account has a credit limit of $24,000 on which I owe $12,000. I have paid the account off in the past with $12,000 cash payment and have never been late on the account and always pay extra. The credit check account has a limit of $14,000, and I have a balance of $4,000. The interest rate on the credit check account is 4.75%. I called last week to request some checks, because the ones I had requested but never used in June 2009 had expired. They again explained as they did in June that they would review my account and send me the checks.

Today, I got two letters in the mail, one on my credit card account and the other on my credit check account. On the credit check account, they denied my request for more checks and said that they had closed my account stating that they felt that I had enough debt due to the current economy. In the letter on my credit card account, they said that they were reducing my credit limit from $24,000 to $13,000 which is just above what I owe. In one day, the very nice BOA has damaged my credit score by closing one account and making the other account show that I now owe more than 90% of my limit when it was just 50%. Both of these actions will hurt my credit score, which was 748 before today.

I have been with BOA for over 5 years and never been late, and I have been on the job for over 30 years. I called BOA and was told by the not-so-kind lady that paying on time and being on the job for 30 years means nothing and that it could change in the future which could affect my ability to pay. What a joke. Good-paying customers mean nothing to these blood suckers who can double your interest rate just because they want to and close your accounts that have low APR just because they want to.

I have two Bank of America credit cards. One card I have had since 2002, and the other card is through my business. I have been a member in good standing. I have paid my bills on time and paid off all my balances. Despite a good relationship with the bank for over 15 years, they closed my credit cards due to an entry on my credit report. My complaint is I have over 71,000 world points with one of BOA cards, but they are not redeeming the points. I called and posted a request to redeem my points. They promised to return call in 48 hours. It has been well over 100 hours and I have still not heard back from them. I called again, and they put in another request and promised to return my call by 24th December. I called the business credit card and they have refused to redeem my points as my account is closed. I have 5,000 points with them. I have been using BOA cards only because of the world points. They benefited from my card usage and now if they do not redeem my points, I would consider it stealing because this is money that they owe me! I hope some action can be taken to get my points redeemed. About $750 is owed to me.
