I have an account with Capital One. They were always very nice and I was always happy dealing with them until they sent me to apply for a business card. I did and they refused me. They are terrible.

In December of 2014 I was given a refi rate of 3.75% but was told before we closed and the rate I would be eligible for a one time 3.625. On January I received a call from Capital One 360 saying the rate went down to 3.625 and on that assumption only I said let's go ahead. I closed on January 23, assuming all the documents were in place. But in a letter dated to me on February 12, 2015, a letter of designation stated my interest rate was 3.75. I called my loan officer and he said it was wrong and would be corrected. But he or anyone else refuses to take my calls and, in fact, they have had their phone number changed and no one will speak to me. Even the CEO refuses to acknowledge my email.
I have been told by other refi companies that Capital One is known to pull tricks like this. They have a bad reputation among other refi co's and said that if you are late they will go after blood. I have never been late but... These people are snakes. Stay away from them. Wish I was informed earlier.

I applied for a new credit card to try to rebuild my credit. I have been waiting for over a month for the card to be mailed to me and I have yet to receive it. They have sent the card 4 times so far with no prevail. When I call them up to ask where it is, or if they have a tracking number, they always tell me to wait another day to see if the card has come in. I have filed a investigation with the Postal Service and so far nothing has turned up. Also every time I call Capital One, a foreigner who barely can speak English answers the phone. When I ask to speak to an American I get another foreigner.

I've only had this credit card for about a month and I wanted to pay off the balance I had so I used their mobile app to make the payment. A couple days later the mobile site said the payment was returned so I tried it again a week later thinking maybe it was too soon to make a payment and the same thing happened. I called customer service and the lady said it was my bank’s fault the payment was returned. I called my bank and they said it wasn't their fault because no payments from Capital One were even debited from my account and they were right it didn't even show up in my account. Not wanting to take a chance on someone hacking my bank account I put the balance on my Rushcard and tried again to make a payment and the same thing happened "Payment Returned".
Two totally different banks same problem. I called customer service again and this time they said in order to remove the restriction I had to let them call Chase (owner of the Rushcard) and verify the account over the phone. I informed the lady that I didn't want to use my accounts anymore and that I've already sent a money order to pay off my balance and she said they could only remove the restriction if I verified my bank account. She said she even asked her supervisor but that is doubtful. Hopefully they will apply the money order and I can be rid of them before I end up owing them hundreds of dollars of debt because they are not accepting my payment methods.

Just wanted to take a moment to warn customers. Capitol One is the WORST COMPANY I have ever dealt with, their customer service was so atrocious. I was hung up on multiple times and had to call back. I am not someone who normally leaves negative feedback but my experience as a customer with this company was awful. Never willing to work with customers and taking a rigid attitude on the phone, I have to say that after years of being in good standing with the company I WILL BE TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. I will also be telling all my friends and family to avoid this company's substandard service as well. After years of paying on time and remaining in good standing, the company obviously treats customer loyalty with indifference and ignorance. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL COMPANY!!!

Every month until now I've paid my bill weeks early by phone. This month I had to wait until the due date. I call at 8:30 pm to make my payment on this due date and I am informed that payments after 8 pm would be received on the next day making this payment late. I am left with no other option than to accept that my on time phone payment be regarded as late with no recourse and having to grin and eat the fees.

They sent me several credit card offers, finally I applied and got one. They bought ING free checking accounts, I had one so I ended up with them too. I then opened business acct and business credit card. Everything was fine and all of a sudden they closed my business acct with no clear reason? I call but no one knows, finally stated I violated deposit rules? What rule, won't tell me? I insisted but kept getting this mystery answer. Even worse they started closing my other accts that has nothing to do with my business acct?? I went crazy asking for explanation but got no better answer. I had the online access only to my accts and when they kept closing them access was restricted immediately before I was notified, I could not verify final balances? I paid my credit cards at end of each month, last one they closed I did not pay because could not verify balances. Now I have collection that hurt my credit.
I am too busy but preparing to sue them, my best guess that they did not make money of me, I had enough balance to waive monthly fees, got free business wire transfers, and the ING checking was free, they wanted to close it and used that nonsense reason, then closed other accts just to cover their real motive and to look consistent, that is my guess, I cannot find any other good reason. Court will reveal the truth? I am saving to start the case and will get all damages done compensated, stay away, do not use them.

I found out in December 2014 there was a judgement from Capital One and its law firm against my ex-husband's house that I did not own. I called them to tell them I never had a Capital One card. The law firm told me that I could fill out a fraud package. We needed the judgement removed and agreed to pay the account off on the word that we would receive a refund should it be deemed in fact fraud. Well December they issued a satisfaction of judgement then 2 weeks later they issued a vacate satisfaction then issued a vacate judgement on the grounds that it was fraud. We paid them $2700. Now I contact Capital One over and over the past 3 months to find out today that since I made a voluntary payment they will not refund the money even though it was identity theft. So someone stole my information and now they stole $2700 from us. So mad right now I have an attorney looking into it.

They have INCORRECTLY applied CHECKS WITH INSTRUCTION letter INCLUDED to be applied to PRINCIPAL PAYMENT ONLY as regular payments and keep taking interest. Their excuse is "Well that is just our processing center. They can do it wrong sometimes." WOW! Way to go for taking responsibility and I have to BABYSIT my transactions. If you call in to apply a PRINCIPAL ONLY payment... they send you an EMAIL that doesn't state EXACTLY WHAT the payment is for and you are left with nothing but HOPE that they apply it correctly. RIDICULOUS. I will Never borrow from this company again.

I have been dealing with 2 capital one cards that have only a $300 limit each. The cards originated with a different bank each then became capital one. They allowed fraud and then allow more and more fraud to go on. Now each card owes over $1000 and they don't help at all. They are charging fees etc. I was not allowed more than the limit but apparently someone committing fraud can! They now expect me to pay for all of this after they were given proof of the fraud. If not, they will mess up my credit! Terrible and they are basically blackmailing me that if I don't give them a few grand they will destroy my credit!

On February 14, 2015, I received my bill statement and found out that I was charged for late payment and the interest but I've always paid on time when I rec'd my statement. Then I noticed that I did not receive the statement prior to the month. Therefore, I called Capital One on the same day about my bill statement for the late payment and interest fees. The customer service was helpful to waive the fees and I was happy about the service at that time. However, ever since that day, I could not use the credit card, all the transactions were declined!
In the beginning, I thought it was due to the store machine or the place, so I wasn't thinking about any other issues. Then I tried again and again until today (February 28, 2015), I finally called Capital One to find out the reason why I was not able to make any purchases. Then I was told that it was due to the past due payment of $25. If I do not make the payment for the $25, then it will block me from making any purchases. However, it was my first time of hearing such thing as when I called on February 14, the customer service did NOT tell me upfront about this kind of issue!!!!!
Also, I have been a customer with Capital One since 1997 and they are not even able to find an immediate resolution. Even the SUPERVISOR is UNABLE to resolve the problem!!! He kept on telling me that he CANNOT do anything and cannot break the Federal LAW!!!! Even though I kept telling him that I already schedule the payment for March 2nd (payment due date is March 5), he still kept saying "NO" and he CANNOT do anything because of the Federal LAW!!! He can reactivate my account only if I can proceed the $25 past due payment. HELLO??? Am I hearing it wrong? For $25, and you kept telling me and threatening me if I do not pay $25, then the account will be locked until they receive the payment to clear up the past due issue!!
This is VERY RIDICULOUS to hear that it sounds like it's my fault at all??!! First of all, I did not receive the payment. Secondly, I called the customer service on February 14 to waive the late payment and interest fees due to the first condition, so I was not aware of the billing until I receive this month's bill. However, I was not told of the forthcoming restriction upfront! Thirdly, I have been with Capital One for almost 20 years and I was told my account is locked for past due $25 and unable to release until I make the payment due to FEDERAL LAW...
Is $25 sounding a BIG number to them?? They have not authority to release. Is Capital One a public or private company??? NO RIGHT TO UNLOCK because of their OWN MISTAKE??? This is totally NOT an acceptable customer service to treat a royal customer this way. I will report everywhere until CAPITAL ONE improves this kind of service. Note: I was even intending to open a checking/savings account with Capital One. After this bad experience, I doubt I would continue with them for new businesses!!!

I have since closed both credit card accounts with them and will never do business with them and do not recommend that anyone should.

First of all, has anyone noticed that all the positive comments use the same language? Almost seems like the person(s) writing positive reviews are one and the same. Anyway I have noticed that when I have called to inquire about the OVER LIMIT FEES being charged when it is Capital One's OWN INTEREST RATES that bring you over your limit, not purchases that you made, they were quick to waive the fee. Good and the rep. waived an additional 5.00 off, which was good of her when I didn't even ask. However, why, why, why does one have to go to an external company, either for a consolidation loan to pay off credit cards or use a consumer debt company to help? I have been with Capital One for over 17 years. Loyalty? No way. I have paid off the balance on several occasions, now I want to do the same. Apparently it will take me 32 Years and 4 Months if I only pay the min.
How about Capital One has a department for loyal customers who want to pay off credit and who have made timely payments instead of us going elsewhere? They have made their money. I am not looking for a balance removal, I take full responsibility for the purchases made, but how about an interest decrease and equal payments for those of us trying to get ahead or at least stay afloat? I think they could afford the interest cut and I know they have made their money from me!!! The service rep. offered me to speak with her supervisor who NEVER came on the phone. Silly me thinking someone might actually be willing to listen.

I received my pre-approval letter for the Quicksilver card at the beginning of January. I've been trying to rebuild my credit so I figured a card with a low limit that would be simple to pay off each month was the way to go. I received the card, activated it and everything was just fine. I received a call yesterday from the Fraud Department telling me that they needed to verify something on my recent application and I received a case number. I called back this morning and I was asked a whole litany of ridiculous questions, including what car was registered in my name. I was then told that I needed to send them copies of my Driver's License, SSC and a utility bill. I told them that I would not send anything like that through the mail and "Tom" with the very heavy Middle Eastern accent told me that I could visit any bank and have them do an identity verification.
When I got off the phone, I started searching around the internet to see how many other people were having the same issue. I was sadly not surprised when I saw there were more than just a handful. I logged on to my account and in the bright, red, angry text I saw "Account Restricted - Please call blah blah blah.” I called the number, and while I'm not usually intolerant of those outside my own race, I do have difficulty with accents over the phone. I was able to speak to someone I could understand and at first, he was very helpful. I even thought I might get things resolved. After I was put on hold for about three minutes (not bad when you think about it), "Kyle" came back and told me that my identity would have to be verified.
And I started to lose my mind. I then asked, "Why was my identity not verified before I was sent the card?” I was told that they have policies in place to verify before a card is issued and then throughout the life of the card. I told Kyle this made zero sense and that I was very unhappy with the service this company was providing so I would like to close the account. "Not a problem, ma'am. Let me place you on hold while I begin the process." Five minutes later, Kyle comes back on the line to tell me that "Unfortunately, due to the restriction placed on this account, we are unable to close it until we verify identity.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
I then asked if I were to send in said information, how long would it take to resolve the issue. This man actually said to me, "It takes as long as it takes.” Really? This is an acceptable answer? My account is restricted and as far as I'm concerned, it can stay that way. Their policy in this particular case makes it almost impossible for a customer to be satisfied with their company.

We had a joint checking account with Capital One. On February 12th, 2015, we received a letter in the mail stating Capital One would be closing our account effective that day. No information as to why was given, nor any number to contact someone. I went to a Capital One bank the following day where a banker checked our account and told me that there wasn't any notes on our account saying it would be closed. He said the letter might have been an error, and he didn't see a reason our account would be closed. A week later on February 19th, 2015, my debit card was declined four times. I called Capital One customer service and was told our account was in the process of being closed, but I could not be given any information as to why.
I then went to a Capital One branch to withdraw our money from our savings accounts, which were not being affected. The banker there emailed the person closing our checking account to see if they would allow me to withdraw the money from that account as well. They took a while to get back with her, so she called me after I had left and said they would open the account for me to get the rest of our money. I told her I would go the next day since she called me close to closing time. I went back on February 20th, 2015 which was a Friday. Since they had opened my account back up for the withdrawal, my fiance's direct deposit had gone through that day. So I was able to take out what we had before and what he got paid that day.
I thought that was the end of it. I decided to check our accounts online to make sure they were closed, and I see that our checking account is now $1,100 overdrawn. They decided to reject his direct deposit once they closed the account again, even though I had already withdrawn the money. We have not received a check from his workplace from the deposit being rejected, only his check stub saying it was direct deposited on February 20th. This has put us in a huge bind, and we are now struggling to get a new account and his direct deposit set up with a different bank before our bills are due.

And guess what? when I receive my statement I see they charge for Interest rate. I called again and the rep couldn't help me, transfer to supervisor name Michelle. She said she doesn't see record showing that I called. Isn't this wrong? I am very disappointed with this company. Forest Lawn had less interest rate than capital One, how stupid can I be to pay of with Capital One card that has 22+%. I wrote this so people can know and do not trust Capital One credit card.

Been dealing with them since January of (2008). Never had any problems with them before now. Doing this, I sent them a check from CitiFinacial to pay out the balance owing on my Credit card. I have done this 5 times since I have had a credit card though them. Throughout the years, got a personal loan through Citifinacial to pay off my balance owing on my Capital One credit card. Before once they receive the check, right away my credit limit was back up to a $1000.00. I had my account set up online, to keep track of it, because of fraudulent activities that were put on it a couple of years back.
Well to make a long story short, I go to check my online account. It was showing that they received the check on Feb 5th, 2015, and that my Credit limit was back to $1000.00 for purchases and cash advances. The next day I went to the bank, used my card to get a $40.00 cash advance, check my online account, it was showing a $0.00 credit available. I phone the customer service for Capital one, and was told then that the check that I sent them was on hold for 28 days. That's why my account is showing there is no money available. I let it pass then.
The next day I go to check my online account. It is showing there is $15.00 to $26.00 available. So I phone the customer service again to see what is going on with my account, talk to 3 different people and was given a different story from everyone of them about the hold time on the check and what was going on with my account. Then after talking to the third person, I ask to talk to a supervisor. I put on hold for 12 minutes, talk to the supervisor. She tells me I owe them $84.65. I blew it then and told her "Why do I owe you that much?" She said "Well besides the $40.00 cash advance you got, there is a over limit charge on your account." I told her, "How in the hell is there a over limit fee on my account when the balance was paid off? And it is showing on my online account that I am looking at on my computer, that you receive the check for $984.00 to pay out the balance." Then she put me on hold.
While she is talking to someone (Else) comes back on the phone, then is asking me about a couple of transactions on my account. Here to make a long story short, every transaction that she ask me about, I never done it. Then she ask me if I called in a couple of months ago, asking to get a replacement card. I never called them. Here they sent out another card to someone else claiming to be me. There is close to $400.00 that was charged on that card that they sent out to this so called person.
As their so called fraud department is looking into this, I am finding out from my online account that I had set up that the email address that I used for it end it only. I done a virus scan of my computer for 4 days in a row. Every time it was showing that someone was hacking into that email address that I was using for my online account with Capital One. One of my friends works in investigations for the RCMP, where I am living. He investigated into this matter. To make a long story short, He found out that it was someone at the Capital One customer service office hacking into people's computers. I called their fraud department about this on Feb 22, 2015. The guy that I was talking to there at Cap One Fraud department said to me, "What in the F am I suppose to do about it? Report it to the police." Cap One service in the last 2 years is went all to hell. I will be taking them to court over this matter.

I never post bad reviews, NORMALLY. I am all about positive feedback. However, customers of Capital One need to know that Capital One is deceitful. When you get behind on your account they will send you a letter stating you have until a specific date to pay, or it will get closed. Well do not trust that letter. I had some financial hardships and got behind a couple months, after having the card for 5 years, paying it off every month or close to pay off amount every month. Well they sent me a letter stating that if I make a payment by February 11th will be put back in good standard, so they say.
Well on February 2nd I paid the balance in full, and went to use the card and my purchase was declined. So I called them, per Serra, the account was closed. That it closed on December 20th, however, they still sent me letters saying they are here to help, and that I had options. Which I read to her and it was dated January 28th. Well I paid it off, and nowhere did they say the account was going to be closed.
I feel that they deceived me to get the balance paid, and still reported to credit bureau. I asked direct questions, "So when will it be reported that the card has been paid in full?" She states, "Well I am not sure how the credit bureau works", well she knew how to post to the credit bureau. So as of now it states that the account is closed and there is a balance due, however, I paid it off. So I will no longer do business with Capital One, and I hope that they stop deceiving people.

Just like a lot of people here, I too was cheated out of $300 by this bank. I received an offer for a pre-approved secured card in the mail and I took the offer up. I called the 1-800 number, gave all of the information about myself they asked, transferred $300 from my Chase bank account and waited for the card. When it arrived, upon calling to activate it, I too was transferred to the fraud department and told my account wouldn't be activated until I supplied them with my SS#, Driver's license and a utility bill because they had to confirm that it was indeed me calling them.
I didn't send a copy of my drivers license or SS#, but sent them 3 pieces of ID with all of the information they requested contained in them. The next day a representative informed me that the forms I sent them were insufficient and they could activate my card without having my driver's license and SS card. They won't even close my account and refund my money.
Long story short, I contacted my Chase Bank and they were shocked that I was asked to send them personal information. They advised me to file a complaint with the BBB and talk to an attorney about suing Capital One with Fraud to get my money back. They will attempt to reverse the charge, but have had dealings like this in the past and unfortunately, this fraud that Capital One is pulling is very hard to sue due to the fact that the fraud, and customer service departments are located in a different country and don't have to abide by our business laws. So tell everyone you know not to do any business with Capital One Bank in the future. That is the only way that we can fight them.

I have had Capital One checking and credit card for over a year. My credit score went from 525 to 625. I received 2 rewards checks, one for $84.00 and one for $30.00. When I had an unauthorized charge on my credit card or checking, they worked with me to get the problem resolved. They have done a few things that I didn't like but overall, if you stick with them they do give you rewards and your credit score improves if all payments are made on time. Also, the bank staff is always friendly and helpful. It's rare that I take time to give good reviews but I think that they deserve it because they have always been fair with me.

I called Capital One to ask some questions about my credit card account. When I dialed their number, which I had gotten off of their website, I was greeted by an automated message prompting me to fill out a survey, which I did. I thought it had something to do with Capital One since it didn't give me any other options. After a few questions I was told I had won a free cruise and someone from "Holiday Cruise Line" answered the phone. I told them I was just trying to reach my credit card company, did I dial the wrong number?
The Holiday Cruise Line rep and I had a 30 minute conversation (with me believing I had actually won a free cruise for about 15 minutes). After lots of questions I found out it wasn't actually free, he wanted my credit card info, and if I didn't agree to the "free" cruise right then and there (because I said I wanted to hang up and do some investigating) I wouldn't be eligible anymore. That's when I finally hung up.
I called Capital One again and got a real rep. I told them about the cruise line and they said it was a real company working with them. Why the hell do you have some scamming company answering your phone number, Capital One? I am very, VERY upset about almost being bullied out of a lot of money from a company that Capital One is legitimately letting bully their customers. I have had an account with Capital One for many years. In July 2012 my mother was diagnosed with cancer and came to live with us so I could take care of her. I was also taking care of my two children and working full time so I was definitely distracted and made late payments to my credit card companies. In December of 2013 I was diagnosed with cancer so things got even more complicated. Luckily I had gotten a cancer policy on my insurance which let me pay off my 457 loan at work and get a new one to pay off all my credit cards.
I paid off my entire $12,000 debt to Cap One and was intending on asking them to lower my available credit to $1000 just so I could have one card open for emergencies. I was told they permanently restricted my account and have forfeited the points I had accrued as well. I don't even know if that is worse for my credit history or if my closing the account is. If I had known they would do this I would have kept the money and taken my sweet time paying them.

I have called, & get the run around. Talk to one rep, get transferred to another who reassured me that I would have access. That was a lie. Then I was told go to the branch. Branch tellers look at you like a deer in caught in headlights. As soon as I get access, I'm pulling everything out and going back to Wells Fargo. Never had problems. I switched to Capital One because there was a branch near my house & job. Worst move I have ever made. You live & you learn. Thanks to Capital One my bills are now 30 days past due.

I had applied for a capital one card to build up my credit. (My score started at 560 or so, and they recommended this particular card for that very reason). My credit limit was $300. I downloaded the capital one app so I could pay my card online using my checking account. After a couple of times using the app to make payments, I noticed that they were being 'denied' or 'sent back'. I never got any alerts or notifications deeming this to be a fraudulent matter, so I decided to forego the app and use my bank account app to pay them from there on. About 3 months later I go to use my card and it's declined. I thought it was weird, so when I got home to access my account they said it was restricted.
I immediately called them only to find out they had deemed the payments that didn't go through were fraudulent and shut the account down. I asked why they didn't notify me about any of this and they said, and I quote "We don't do that kind of thing." Uh, what? You don't make a customer aware of fraudulent activity on their account? Ooohh. My bad. Anyways, after about an hour and a half on the phone with them trying to explain that the only 'fraud' was on their part due to the app malfunctions, they convince me that I can apply for a new account and everything should be fine. Wrong. They managed to dock my credit report with a hard inquiry and decline. I made a conscious decision to just pay off my card (the little $250 I had accrued) and try with a different company.
I have the credit karma app and I check it very regularly. At this point I had raised my credit score to 648. I get an email from credit karma saying there and been a change to my score. I log in, and to my utter disbelief, my score had dropped to 525! I had been a little late around Christmas with a payment, but I had always made the payment. They are the only credit card I have. I call them up to find out why my score had dropped so drastically when I maybe missed one payment and had an outstanding balance of $333 (which was also unclear). At this point I have not received a straight answer and am awaiting a response from the supervisor on my case. Please, if you are thinking about getting a capital one card to help improve and build your credit, DON'T. YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Due to a severe illness, my account with Capital One went over 120 delinquent. Late last fall, I contacted them to make arrangements to get the balance back below the credit line [I never used the card to cause the account balance to go over the credit line but the interest and late payment fees quickly drove the balance up] and agreed to make large minimum payments to bring the balance back down. I checked on the progress via their website. Yesterday, when after my last payment had posted to the account, I called to ask why the 'currently restricted' notice on the available credit balance was still there. I was told that even though the account was NOT closed, it would never be opened again as their policy no matter what the reason or efforts made is that once the account has reached the 120 day period the account is closed to future use.
I know it was ultimately my fault but in all the phone conversations I had with their representatives arranging for payments, I was never told that their efforts were to get the balance to zero and THEN close the account. I will take my time and limited resources to work with an entity that is more honest. The sad thing is I have been with Capital One for almost 20 years!!!

On Capital One's 360 Security Page for online banking, they assure us that our money is safe. Feel secure? Well, don't. Capital One 360 will let fraudulent charges pile up and do absolutely nothing about it. Plus, once you do find out, they will not reimburse you no matter what type of proof you have. I didn't open a Capital One 360 account, ING Direct became Capital One and I was an ING Direct customer. I had qualms so I left some money in thinking I could use them for online purchases. Huge mistake! Huge. And it's cost me over $400. I have a clue when it began.
Before March 2014, I bought a few things here & there. Mostly gas. Few online purchases from reputable companies. In March, Facebook decides to get into the banking arena. With their all new encompassing Policy Agreement, they pretty much say that all or any financial data, including private data used by an FB member on their site becomes theirs also to use when they see fit. Enter Capital One 360 via iTunes and my money began to be systematically siphoned out every other day, sometimes three and four times a day. How? I would put my Capital One card into iTunes when I used it and then removed it via settings on my iPad. I had been playing a particular game and needed play cash. The $9.99 charge became a $19.99 charge: $24.99; $14.99; $1.99; $2.99; .30cents (yes, .30 cents).
These were almost daily charges. Why didn't I know? My mother became ill. I was distracted, driving 250 miles back and forth, helping Hospice and my step father. Plus, I wasn't using the card frequently. Before March 2014, there had been little activity. After March, which coincides with Facebook's new Policy, I was supposedly glued to the internet racking up charges on one, yes...one game. No, not Candy Crush. A game called Pearl's Perils. Did I buy anything? Yes. Unfortunately for me, I bought some play cash to open up land. Was I buying play cash daily? No. There wasn't any need to buy play cash except occasionally.
After my mother's death, I checked my balance on my Capital One 360 card. I almost keeled over. iTunes, iTunes, iTunes. Every single date had iTunes on it. I immediately called iTunes. They didn't even hesitate. They could only reverse 90 days worth. iTunes was obviously very used to reversing online game charges. iTunes had become so alarmed at the extent of the charges, they blocked the game and stopped paying. Now this becomes bizarre. I go into my FB settings to remove the game App, and notice PayPal as my FB Account mode of payment. PayPal? How did Facebook get my PayPal Account information? I never used PayPal for anything on FB! How did they get my password? My email associated with PayPal?
It gets worse. I log into Paypal and see iTunes charges in there. But next to them, it read "Denied." One line down, it reads: Facepay (or something similar). Again: $14.99; $9.99; $24.99 etc. 50 charges, 100 charges. My PayPal Account was being systematically drained. And PayPal had my main bank attached to it. I was beyond myself.
To make a very long, horrifying story as short as I can, I called PayPal and was told I had an Agreement with Facebook. I did? When? When I bought something from an online clothing store off of Facebook. What? I immediately called said store. Yes, I bought a tank top there months and months ago on their private website. What did Facebook have to do with where I shop off of their domain? Well, I came across an obscure news article that PayPal's CEO now works for FB. Excuse me? It all came together. PayPal let Facebook in without my knowledge, consent, password or email address. Guess who wouldn't block Facebook Payer? PayPal and Capital One 360. PayPal at least reimbursed me.
However, after 3 days of filing the disputed charges, Capital One 360 decides there were no errors. Despite my sending them a receipt I found from FB saying the charge was unauthorized. I didn't make it. A hacker was non-existent. The developers of the game were padding my account and iTunes with my Capital One card, not on file, paid them. They, however, reversed all of the charges for a 90 day period. PayPal reversed the whole year. Capital One? Not one penny. Dispute Closed, read their email after 3 days! Really? I don't think so. I've closed PayPal. I've transferred all money left to another bank. I've changed all of my passwords and closed all online banking except for one online bank.

I opened a pre-paid credit card to build credit. You can never spend what you have not loaded. I pay close attention to my due dates. Bill is due on the 12th and the statement prints on the 15th. So I look at my transactions each month about 2 days before the 12th, so around the tenth. I pay the entire balance and try to leave 30 or 40 bucks outstanding just to show rotation. So I make a payment on the tenth and another before the statement prints on the 15th. Immediately they take close to 400 dollars out toward pending transaction.
This is a prepaid card and you cannot spend more that you have loaded onto the card. Also it subtracts from your available credit each transaction. I noticed this about two years ago and closed my daughters account because of the same thing. They double bill you and then have a ton of overseas workers whom you can barely understand try to confuse you about how you spend your money. It’s theft plain and simple.

I have a plus 800 credit score. I have several credit cards that I always pay off in full every month. When I have applied for a credit card I have always been approved immediately. I applied for a Capital One credit card in late December, mainly to use in a foreign country as they do not impose an International usage fee. For whatever reason they could not approve me over the phone but I did get a letter of approval dated Jan. 2, 2015, with a $10,000.00 credit line. I was leaving for a two week trip on Jan 12 and did not receive any other mailings from them prior to that. Upon my return I received my two weeks worth of mail from the USPO. In there there were three letters from Capital One. Two dated Jan. 12th and the third containing my new approved card.
One letter stated, "we think a fraudulent credit card may have been opened using some of your personal information and you may be a victim of identity theft." The other letter stated, "We suspected some fraudulent activity on your Capital One Credit card account". All this without me even starting the approval process on the new card. I called Capital One and talked to several people and finally got a Supervisor. Talking to these people was one of the most frustrating ordeals I have ever undertaken, especially when one considers that they are the ones who are selling me their product.
After much conversation I was finally able to pin this Supervisor down that there was not any "fraudulent use" of this card or usage or leakage of "personal information", nor had there ever been. She admitted that it was just a ploy to scare or frighten you to get you to call them so they could get more information about yourself or to "re-verify" (BS) your information by you sending them a copy of your driver's license, your SS card, and whatever else they wanted. Out and out lies in written form to frighten, scare, etc. and to what avail. Consumer protection, I seriously doubt it.
I cancelled my non activated account with them right after ascertaining that these were actually lies to get further information about myself. To what avail I am not sure but I do know I don't want to do any business with a company like this and I am hoping this letter will give pause to anyone else considering getting a Capital One card. Also if anyone could tell me where I could go to present this information to prohibit Capital One from using this tactics I would appreciate it.

I explained to him that I have never had to do that and am not comfortable doing so. He proceeded to explain that they needed this information before my card would be activated.
I told the gentleman that I would do no such thing and that I felt this whole thing was a scam. When I ask to speak with a supervisor because I didn't trust him, he said sure he'll transfer me, but that they'd tell me the same thing. Capital One failed to accept the cable bill I provided (which was a statement from the past week with my name and address on it). Capital One called my cable provider which refused to provide my personal information over the phone to some credit card company they had never been in contact with before. Capital One suggested I go to a bank to get an ID verification but after visiting my primary banker (Wells Fargo), they told me they had never heard of such a process and, like my cable provider, refused to provide any of my personal information to a third party over the phone.
I was so fed up with not being able to even activate my card that I called Capital One and asked for my account to be deleted and GUESS WHAT THEY TOLD ME? That I had to verify my identity in order to deactivate my account (which is still inactive at this point). So now I have a card that can neither be activated nor deactivated.

I went online to check my account and was repeatedly brought to a page that denied me from accessing my account. The statement on the page read "This account is currently restricted" and to call the customer service number.
I called the number and, although the first customer assistant was very polite, I could hardly understand what she was saying. I was put on hold twice and then transferred to someone else. This assistant explained to me that my account was permanently restricted due to a fraudulent application and that she could not reopen it. When I asked why this happened, as there was nothing fraudulent about the application I submitted, the assistant repeated the previous explanation without any details. She then wanted to transfer me to someone else to apply for a new card. I declined because I no longer trusted this company. I had never even used the card before I was restricted. And guess what, I assumed, even if someone steals your card, he still needs to activate it. Since we provided emails and received activation codes on the emails - no one could activate it. Knowing I hadn't used the card for almost a year and expecting the balance to be in the region of 500, I immediately contacted Capital One. I told them the situation and requested all my statements from day one going back approx 10 years. Approx 1 month later when the statements FINALLY arrived and after numerous phone calls which I received from Capital One asking for information that had already been given to them and them confusing the matter each time by getting the information incorrect, they eventually froze the account and I finally managed, after a further 2 months of calling them and receiving irrelevant phone calls from them, to explain to them how many fraudulent transactions had been made and then sent in the relevant paperwork that they required with my signature detailing the transactions (this paperwork had been promised by them 3 times and each time I was assured that it had been sent, but each time nothing was received - totally incompetent).
Their incompetence has been quite unbelievable, to the degree that during 1 phone call with them they denied a 2000 balance transfer payment from my other credit card company until I demanded to speak to in total 3 different operators, the last one finally admitting that he could not understand why the others could not see the transaction in question. This is the level of incompetence I have been dealing with. Anyhow with all the information I had sent them I was assured that the case would be passed to the fraud department where it would be resolved in due course. The operator expressed that in his opinion it was clear that my account information had been intercepted somehow and the matter would be resolved in my favour. Last Friday (16th January 2015, at least 4 months after all this began) I received a phone call from Capital One's Fraud Department and was asked to return the call, I could not do so as I was at work and their fraud department closes at 3pm! I returned the call this morning (Monday 19th January).
Initially the fraud officer seemed quite helpful, I provided him with all the information he asked for, explained my concerns as I knew that the only people with access to my card were myself and my partner, and I knew that it was impossible that either of us had spent the money concerned. After him hedging around the area a little bit I finally explained to him that I had not used the card except for a very few transactions that we had previously detailed to them, his response was basically to say that "the card used is your card and they could tell if it had been cloned, it hasn't, they could tell if it had been replaced, it hasn't, the card which has been used IS the card that is in your wallet, so if you haven't used it, it only leaves 1 other explanation," in other words my Fiancee.
Somebody PLEASE HELP ME. They say if I do not provide them with another explanation as to how this card could have been used they will not treat this as a fraud case and I will be liable for all the money concerned. Please let me make this clear, I HAVE NOT USED THIS CARD, my Fiancee HAS NOT USED THIS CARD, there must be another explanation. If you have 1 item and a merchant account, they set restrictions where you have to do $500 a month at either 3% or 4% which basically means you get charged $15 to $20 a month on one side as they waive $15 for only one bank account. It's bait and switch. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BANK WITH THESE CROOKS.

I have my first credit card with this company. Well when I got the card they said as Long as I pay on time and use card I get increase in 6 months. That's today so I phoned them. Now got to wait 6 more months for increase. So they lied to me. Aqua accepted with 800 limit where Capital One was only 200 so they're not that nice to their customers.

They did a balance transfer that I never authorized. When I found out about this after realizing my credit score had dropped and it's due to the late payments on this account and informed CapOne, at first they accepted responsibility and credit back all the fees/interest AND said they would correct this with the credit reporting agencies. Then I get a letter denying they were ever in the wrong and that I'm out of luck. I've had credit score of mid 700s most of my life and now it's in the mid 600s. They never contacted me that the account is past due nor sent statements. They also can't produce any evidence on who authorized the balance transfer.

I have a credit card payment with Capital One. I always make my payment on time. However I was informed if my payment is made after 8 pm is a late payment but I was not made aware that the payment hours. I called them told them I made my payment on time at 1130 pm which is not the next day but the correct day. I was informed to not worry about it. It will not reflect as one in my statement since I was unaware of the situation. However I called today, spoke to Steve. He said he was a supervisor. Very rude, disrespectful toward me yelling at me on the phone. He told me my payment could be made anytime as long it's not the next day so I ask him what's the problem then with my statement showing late payment if I always made my on time. He started to scream he's going to hung up he doesn't have time to be on the phone with me repeating himself because he contradict himself.
The customer service is bad and they mislead you. I want them to honor what they said regarding the payment, because this hour is crazy people work. 8 pm to make payment is near impossible if you an individual getting home from work at 11pm to 1am. I cannot make call at my job because the rules are I cannot have my phone out and I'm constantly on the phone. I cannot get off the phone to make call I will get fired. They need to have a later time for this payment thing.

The difficulty of the situation was that they planned it right before a holiday of New Year where it would be difficult to get the situation to normal until three days later and they could then add on some extra charges. Luckily, I was better prepared than most. Someone at their company (Or company procedure) makes them want to stretch their muscles and bully the working people. I called my Bank and was told to contact CapOne. I contacted CapOne and they acknowledged they took my money twice out of my checking account. However, it will take them 15 days to refund my money. Until then, I have incurred insufficient fees and my checking account overdrawn. I can not pay my other bills or even buy gas, groceries or my prescriptions. My checking account just gets further and further in the red with checks I had written that are trying to post to my account in addition to NSF fees. I've had my Capital One card for 23 years, and am finally done with them. Not only have I had that card for over two decades, it has been my primary card, with an estimated of $20k/year. All of my bills get auto-paid through it. Two weeks ago (right before Christmas!), I tried to use the card for an online purchase, and it was declined.
After spending about 20 minutes trying different methods, I finally called Capital One. They said my card had been flagged for replacement due to a 'compromise in my card number', and that they had to reissue me a new card. I asked the rep how this could happen, and she said she didn't have that info. I explained to her that it was going to take me hours to get all of my bill auto payments updated with a new CC number - Netflix, phone, electricity, daycare, cable, water, insurance. Changing each of these is like pulling teeth, as I seldom (if ever) log into these accounts. She said she couldn't tell me, so I asked to speak to someone who could. Five minutes later she gets back on the line and made up some excuse. I still don't know why they had to change the number, or how the card was 'compromised'.
So enough of these guys - I've had it with them. There are plenty of CC companies out there, and they now get my business. My advice - avoid these guys like the plague.

Capital One backed off and lifted the false fraud alert on my account. I will never ever do business with them again, ever! From all the reviews I have read online at different sites, you shouldn't neither. They are the largest credit card company in the America and from what I have read about them they really like to push their weight around to intimidate us.
Well, I wasn't going to buy it and I wasn't going to let them bully me. You shouldn't neither. People stick up for your rights because no one else will. I want to give a very big thanks to Consumer Affairs for their outstanding work and help. They are on OUR side protecting the unjusts that big corporate America is doing to us. Thanks again Consumer Affairs! If people get tired enough of being pushed around and a "class action suit" is doable, count me in!

First of all before I state my story I would like all people who have complained about Capital One on this site and other sites to consider a Class Action Lawsuit. I have read other horror stories about them and the bullying Capital One likes to do to it's customers. Please, everyone think about the things that Capital One is being allowed to do with no consequences for their actions. I wish there was an attorney out there that would consider taking the case. All of us need help to forcing Capital One to stop this unwarranted behavior.
I have a $300 credit limit on a Capital One Platinum Card. I applied for the card three years ago. There have been some minor issues with them but nothing too serious. On December 19th 2014 I get a call from my ex-wife telling me that Capital One put a fraud alert on my card. Let me back up a bit. I have two sons working and going to college. One is studying for his Master's in finance, and the other is in Nursing School. I recently retired on August 18th 2014 and moved 400 miles from my family. I continued to leave the card with them in case of emergencies, either of my sons needing immediate cash for school, etc.......
Since my sons live at home I contribute $200 a month to the family fund. I'm trying to be a good dad and a helping hand to my ex-wife. So, every month my ex-wife takes $200 cash from an ATM using the Capital One card. This has been going on for months. Or, if she is needs a few bucks in between paychecks I tell her to take the money from the card. She pays me back and I in turn pay off the balance on the card back to 00. Every month that card is paid off in full using my checking account. Please remember that I use my checking account to pay Capital One. As a matter of fact I had an auto loan with them too. I paid every month for 19 months using that exact same checking account. On November 4, 2014 I paid my car off in the amount of $12,981.00 using my checking account. So now you have all the necessary information leading up to December 19, 2014.
Now, over the course of the previous week leading up to December 19th my family had to use the card three times. After they would pull the money out I would go right in behind them and pay the card off back to $00. During that period of time Capital One Fraud Department placed a fraud alert on my card due to the type of usage on the card. I called them up on Dec 19th to ask them what the problem was and why they placed a fraud alert on my card. I was told by a person in that department that due to the usage and my immediately paying the balance off to $00 they suspected fraud was taking place on my card. What the hell! I explained to her that it was me paying off the balance with my CHECKING account and my family was taking the money out for my sons' school needs and my ex-wife to buy Christmas gifts for my nieces and nephews. The fraud department person proceeded to ask me all kinds of questions to verify that I am who I say I am. I answered all questions correctly. Now you would think that would be the end of it. Nope, nada, and hell no.
She then proceeds to tell me that they have to call my bank on Monday to verify that it's my account and that the fraud alert will remain for five business days unless I call back on Monday. Little did I know that they needed me on the phone to make a conference call to my bank. I told them I will not allow them to talk to my bank and due to the serious nature of the crime I won't answer anymore of their questions. I told her that I answered every security question correctly and that should suffice. I mentioned to her that I have used the same checking account for 19 months to make my car payments, and that I used that exact checking account to pay off my car on November 4, 2014. I said, "Are you telling me that all those payments and ultimately paying off my car with that checking account came from a fraudulent checking account?" Then all I got was a "canned" reply.
That fraud alert cost me a Walmart credit card. Walmart fraud department called me and said I needed to answer some security questions. This happened three days before I had talked to Capital One fraud department. I asked them why the fraud department would be calling me and they said they can't discuss that with me. Three days later I get a letter from Walmart stating that due to their inability to verify my identity they were going to reject my application. Don't figure.

I opened a Capital One credit card through Guitar center for a little bit of fun in August. Small credit line and tiny monthly payments made this indulgent purchase palatable for the wife. All is fine and I register online for automatic payments, however I change banks midway through September and forget to update this banking information on Capital One and therefore miss the first payment. I am very kindly contacted by the customer service team and we set up the new banking information over the phone and also set up the direct debit every month with the customer service lady on the phone. All seems to be fine. Oh by the way send me electronic statements whilst we have her on the phone as this seems much more efficient.
Fast forward to December 24th (today) and exactly 87 days since the last phone call, I have a call from my credit monitoring agency, I have a delinquency 30 day late notice posted to my account today from Capital One. Must be some sort of mistake I am thinking I will give them a call and find out. Actually no there is no mistake on their end of course! The payment made on 28th of September was a one-time payment and they don't even set automatic payments up over the phone. So I have now missed October, November and December's payments and when I ask why didn't I get a phone call or an email stating that I was overdue or late, their response is "That is not our responsibility to let customers know they are late or will be reported to the credit bureau. The call that you received on the 28th of September to let you know you were late was a courtesy and you should be grateful we let you know at that time."
The guy actually went as far as to suggest I should learn how to use my email properly to check my statements. (FYI - I recorded the hour long conversations with both customer service representatives, I will post that online as it is perfectly legal to do so since as the calls started they inform that calls may be monitored and recorded for security purposes - that works both ways). Obviously I am stunned with this response. According to Capital One, they were sending me email statements, which while technically true is not really that accurate. The email they send you states "Account Statement Available" but you have to login and check. For such a small monthly payment I did not think it was necessary to check every month and actually completely forgot about this account as I was told by Capital One that we had setup the monthly payments.
What blows my mind is that a few days ago, I did get an email which stated I was late on my December payment which I have moved to rectify immediately. Why didn't I get the same email in October and November? I would have taken care of this immediately! Now for a luxury small purchase I am going to pay the price for the next 7 years until this drops off my credit report. Any other financial institution I have ever dealt with if you are late by a day they will hound me until I get the issue resolved. I was a day late dropping off the mortgage check last month as we came back from vacation late; I had about 50 missed calls when we landed from Wells Fargo and it got sorted out very quickly indeed!
Capital One as far as I can see, want to lure you in with 0% deals and the trick you out of them and into paying their interest and late fees. I have no problem if that is their game since I will never use them ever again, close my business and personal accounts with them and tell everyone I know what thieves they are. However when they go as far as to report me to the credit bureaus without notification, and in essence completely and utterly destroying my financial portfolio and refuse to accept that there is accountability on both sides, I believe this is quite possibly the worst and morally corrupt company I have ever dealt.
On a final note, the last chap I spoke with was very helpful. He has given me the fax number and address to write to the appropriate people explaining as I have done here. He even told me of a similar story only yesterday where the customer was not receiving statements either by mail or e-mail so didn't know he was delinquent and they still reported him to the credit bureau. What a complete and total bunch of thieves. It really says a lot when Bank of America customer service can beat another financial institution as well known as Capital One. What's in my wallet now? Not this company ever again.

I had card fraud in the first three weeks and I was out of town for my Father-in-laws funeral. After the service we were on our way to the burial and stopped to get gas. My card was declined and I called Capital One which put a hold on my card for unusual card usage. I had no cash and a limited amount of time to get to the burial in another town hours away. After being on the phone for 45 minutes and hearing how they should have called me but didn't, I was able to get a one time ATM withdrawal and head to the burial. We lost too much time and did not arrive until the service was over and my wife was devastated.
Capital One unlike most banks, does not identify their card transactions with an ID until after the transaction has been processed. We were out of town and my mobile banking had many transactions but all of them were labeled pending transaction not Sears, WalMart or Texaco. When I called and asked why every transaction was not immediately identified they said if I call them they can tell me what each one is but I won't know until they finish processing which could take up to three days. WOW! NOBODY DOES THIS.
This way of doing business make it easier to fraud a customer of Captial One because every transaction is anonymous until processed so you have to carry your paper register around with you and update it constantly or a transaction may not get caught for several days. Even the fraud group told me I needed to wait for the fraud transactions to finish processing before they could do anything and again I say WOW. The employees at every level of Capital One could not explain to me why their software does not ID transactions instantly like all other banks have been doing for decades. I had to get to the executive level at Corporate to finally get ANY kind of resolution to the fraud and get some money back in my account.
The lack of ID with transactions has been a major complaint by Capital One customers and they plan to fix it in a YEAR OR SO! Capital One is clueless and they need to get beyond the walls of their own castle and take note of how the competition has been doing business for decades. I believe there is too much employee referral hiring going on for that in house $1000.00 bonus instead of actual education and experience.

I opened an account with Cap-one several years ago being told at the time that I could choose my due date. I chose the 19th to fit my pay schedule. I was allowed a $3500 limit. All well and good for about 2 years. Then I receive the next statement informing me that I'm being charged a $35 'late payment' fee and the interest rate goes from 9% to 19%!!! I called to ask why I was being charged a late fee, cause I payed my monthly bill on the 17th. I was told that because "it was too late in the month for their accounting unit to process billing", they had "opted" to change my due date to the 16th! I asked the associate to reduce the interest rate because they had given me no warning of this action and was told "You'll need to pay on time for a year before we can process your request"!!
After hour upon hour of getting nowhere fast with these people, I paid through the nose for 11 months , whereupon I receive ANOTHER statement showing a "late fee"!! When asked what the story was this time, I was told "Because the due date was after the 15th, it was too late in the billing cycle for the accounting dept. to process the account, so they had CHANGED THE DUE DATE to the 13th"!!! They recommended I invest in "Account Protection" to avoid such miseries. $.89 per hundred $ account balance! Even though I knew it was a complete ripoff, I agreed to enroll, if I could pick my own due date. I was told I could, "Just go online and submit your request."
Once online I found I could choose from either the 9th or the 13th, NO OTHER OPTIONS!! Again, struggling to stay current, I continued to pay and pay! It came to a head when my wife lost her job, and we were in dire straights to pay our rent, that I called about the "account protection" plan, and was informed that "Seeing as it is not YOU personally 'out of work' and your wife is not named on the account, WE can do NOTHING to help you"!! That's where 'it' tore. "If you can't or WON'T try to help me, I can't continue to pay YOU!" After MORE endless, futile attempted negotiations, I have found myself in a COURT ORDERED GARNISHMENT for a sum no less than $4890!!!!!!! If you have a 'Capital One' account... CLOSE IT!!!! I have been a Capital One account holder for several years and had always been happy with my service. Six weeks ago, my credit card was declined and when I called customer service, I was told that someone had called with my personal information, reported the card missing, and had requested the card sent to an address in Miami. I put a fraud alert on my account, set up a safe password, asked that my cell phone be called if the password could not be confirmed, and contacted the credit bureaus about identity theft.
A few days later I received a phone call from Capital One. The representative said they had someone pretending to be me on the line checking on the status of their new card. I informed them that the person was fake and they said they would take care of it on their end. A week later I received a new credit card. Two days later it was declined when I tried to use it. The Fraud Department told me that they had accidentally issued me an old compromised credit card number from two years ago. New card issued. This time, I found out it was deactivated before I even had a chance to activate it. The Fraud department told me that someone had called the automated line and reported a lost/stolen card. I was told a restriction was being placed on my account, which would prevent any individual from reporting a lost/stolen card through an automated system.
Another new card issued. I had this card for about a week before it was declined, again, in a store. The Fraud department said that the restrictions were never put on my account and that someone has canceled the card through the automated system. They also let me know that someone has my account information, which at this point, I am very much well aware of. They are now sending me my fourth card in six weeks.
I have zero confidence that Capital One had taken this seriously, and that they are capable of preventing this from happening again. I would cancel my card if I wasn't so concerned that they would issue a card to someone else with my information and name. They have been unable to provide me any information about what happened when they had the identity thief on.the.other.line. A few times I have not been asked for the "safe" password that I set up to safeguard my account. This is the only credit card/account that I have had any on-going identity theft issues with.

I applied for, and was approved for a 1500 Capital One MasterCard about 9 months ago. I held this card in good standing, and kept paying off the balance every pay day. I received a notice of parcel/letter in my mailbox in September of 2014. When I went to the post office to pick up my parcel, it was a letter from Capital One. It explained that because I had applied for my card online, Canadian law required that I submit physical identification to keep my account active. I returned to the post office with my ID. The post office then placed the conformation stamp required, and I sent the letter back to Capital One. I went on using my card as per usual, and was even rewarded with a $5,000 credit limit increase, for keeping up with my payments on Dec 10th.
After making a payment of $400 on Dec 15th, I decided to check my online Capital One account to ensure that my payment would bring my balance owing to zero dollars. Upon logging in to my online account, a message outlined in red stated "This account is currently restricted. Please give us a call at 1-800 481 3239 for help." So I call the number. I'm told that I needed to provide physical identification, and that a package was being sent for me to have stamped at the post office... The exact same run around that I already went through in September. They're saying that they won't re-activate my account. They said they have nothing on record showing that I have already provided them the proof of I.D. that they need.
When I asked them why I wasn't sent a warning of this pending restriction, they said "they sent me letters." I said “What letters? I have not received one letter, phone call, message in online banking, or email of any kind warning me of any pending account restrictions.” Capital One basically suspended my account, without warning, 10 days before Christmas, on the exact day that I was planning to buy gifts for my family (with the card in question). Even when I explained my situation, that they were basically ruining Christmas for my family, they refused to re activate my account, until I resubmit that package that I already submitted in September.
Now, I am not saying that Capital One ripped me off, or anything like that, but what they did do was turn me off, to the point of wishing to close my account, and getting a credit card through another financial institution. The timing of this whole thing stinks. I feel I am being punished because they lost my paperwork. I also feel that had they warned me of an impending account suspension (in any fashion), this could have been resolved, long before the account was ever suspended. They sent me a letter of a $5,000.00 credit limit increase just 5 days before they suspended my account! Merry Christmas Capital One!!!

Expect a big bank to use and apply the laws that protect consumers from fraudulent items.

I have had a Capital One card for several years and was always a good customer - paying what was due on time. In May of 2013, helping a friend out, I Shattered my foot in 27 pieces and was out of work due to this. My wife decided to clean out my bank account and divorced me because she did not want to take care of a cripple. This left me in dire straits, looking for an apartment, out of work, not able to walk, and having to rely on the food bank for food. I was not able to make my min. payment to Capital One for several months. Capital One contacted me. I explained my situation, and the offered me a settlement of $47.60 per month, 0% interest for 60 months and an update to the credit bureau that I am making my payments on time to save my credit.
I got a letter in writing from them with all the terms and the agreements, due dates etc. One of the terms was that if I was 180 days past due in the first 6 months, the agreement would be null and void (Fair enough). I made the first payment of $50.00, then contacted them for the following 2 months saying that I literally had no money and could not make the payment for those 2 months (60 days). Since then I have been making regular payments of $50.00 TWICE a month, which is double of what they wanted.
The agreement started in Feb of 2014, and in June of 2014 they forwarded my account to a collection agency which does not honor the agreement I made with Capital One and the letter that Capital One gave me. Capital One did not even inform me that it was in collections until I called to see what my balance still owing was. I called in October of 2014 and that is when I found out that my payments were going to the collection agency from Capital One. To make matters worse, I have been charged interest all these months from the collection agency which the letter clearly states Capital One would NOT do and they also failed to update my status as the letter promised, with the credit bureau.
I cannot even call Capital one, because as soon as they get your account number they automatically transfer you to the collection agency and they tell you "Oh well, there is nothing you can do." You have to pay us or ruin your credit further. It is beyond frustrating. It boggles my mind that they can send you an agreement IN WRITING which is a legal document, and then do the opposite of what they promised without letting you know. I recommend staying as far away from this company as possible unless you have a ton of money and fight them with an army of top notch lawyers. Sadly, I am working my butt off to pay rent and for food and do not have that luxury.

I like the quicksilver card for the 1.5% cash back. However, the customer service is terrible. I traveled to Vegas and called them a few days before to make sure they would not decline my card. I was told I don't need to report travel within the 50 states. When I got to Vegas my card was declined when paying for my hotel. This happened on 10/17. I called Capital One and they told me I could not use my card anymore. They told me they canceled my card on 10/16 and sent me a new one in the mail because of the Home Depot breach. They told me it should arrive in a few business days around 10/21. I appreciate they take security seriously and sent me a new card. However, they should not cancel my current card before my new card even arrives in the mail. No matter how upset I got, they could not help me on the phone.
Later that night, I checked my email. There was an automatic email from Capital One that said there was suspicious activity on my account. It asked me if I should allow the new charges. I clicked yes. I was then able to use my card again. My conclusion is that the customer service people (even the manager that it was escalated to) don't know what they are talking about. They did not cancel my card like they said they did. All I had to do was click on the email link. They caused me too much unnecessary stress.

I got a Capital One Journey in order to build my credit since I'm a college student and didn't have any. I got the Journey because my cousin recommended it. It seemed nice but looks can be deceiving. I got the card and made payments on time, but ended up hitting a difficult financial situation and was left making regular payments to pay down the debt, but of course still needed to use the card to help build my score. I got some interest charges, nothing major and really my fault and not where my quarrel with them lies. Their mobile banking fails to work, conveniently when I want to make a payment. Same issues when trying to access on a computer. It's always something whether (EXTREMELY) long load times, errors, etc.
They lack in what other cards (my current ones and also my favorites are the Citi Thank You and Discover It) provide in terms of benefits, service, assistance and other great perks (not to mention they allow you to make payments without constant issues). Anytime I try to contact Capital One I explain my issues and basically get talked in circles, which leads me to my biggest issue which is upsetting me the most. I made a series of payments to pay off the card (2 through my bank and 2 balance transfers). After the payments posted, hold were placed on all payments (bear in mind the card was NOT maxed out). I continually checked the balance and saw the payments each slowly get reversed one by one, even the ones paid from my checking account.
Now at this point my cards maxed out (literally by itself) and the payments from my checking account have disappeared. Of course customer service is no help because you can never reach them. I'm hoping to resolve these issues soon so I don't have to deal with these crooks anymore. I can't close the account either because it would negatively affect my score, so I've tossed the card into my safe, never EVER to be used again. I used to vouch for Capital One and recommend it to friends and family. Now I tell everyone avoid them like the plague and get a Citibank or Discover (just my favorites from experience, I'm sure there are plenty other fantastic companies out there). Getting this Capital One is the biggest mistake I ever made. I sincerely hope no one else makes the same mistake.

In March 13 2014 I decided I wanted to consolidate all of my credit cards and creditors. I went to my bank and was able to get an unsecured loan to pay all of these creditors off. My bank that I got the loan from told me I did not need to worry about contacting these companies because of the letter my bank sent all of these companies with my signature on them. Come to find out in the month of May, I received a bill from Capital One stating that I owe money from a couple of charges that were made in May.
So I called Capital One and spoke with customer service stating what had happened and they for some reason transferred me to the fraud department. I really don't know why they did what they did because what I was saying was not fraud but totally their fault which they do not want to admit because all of the other companies got the letter and they say that they didn't receive the letter.
Trust factor is totally gone with them. I have been dealing with this company up to this time and it's not over. I am not going to pay something that should have not been charged on my account seeing that said account should have been closed on March 19 2014 when they received the pay off check from my bank and the account has been reconciled according to my bank. I'm thinking at this point I am going to have to speak with an attorney about this and see what my options are because I am not going to pay for Capital One's mistakes. I obtained a Capital One card in June 2014, with a credit limit of $300.00, in making an attempt to improve my credit scores. June through August seemed to go smoothly, with my paying off my entire amount owed ever time, on time. I then received an e-mail from Capital One urgently requesting that I contact them, citing that there appeared to be several fraudulent charges on my card beginning on Sept 4, 2014. After reviewing the charges, I spoke with them, and agreed that they were indeed fraudulent. I was then assured by Capital One that these charges would be dismissed, my current card cancelled right away, and I would be issued a new card right away. I received the new card 3 days later, and started to use it. As of Oct 3, 2014, I went into my account on-line to pay my bill, and lo and behold, 2 of the fraudulent charges from 4 & 5 Sept were still there, a new fraudulent charge dated 20 Sept (all 3 on the card that I was told was cancelled), and a new fraudulent charge dated Oct 3, 2014 on my new card! All from the same companies involved from the initial fraudulent charges from 4-5 Sept 2014.
I called Capital One tonight (Oct 4, 2014) and waited for 30 minutes to speak with someone in the Fraud Department, with no satisfaction, being informed that these charges were still pending at the time, so that's why they still appeared. I was told nothing of this in my original conversation back on 4 Sept 2014. I then asked why they would allow these to go through, already knowing that they were fraudulent (on a card that was supposed to have been cancelled, nevertheless), and be allowed to be posted to my account. I also asked why these companies were not blocked immediately after discovering the fraud. I also confronted them with the fact that my original card had indeed NOT been cancelled, and that I now had TWO cards on my account! I was then told that I should have REQUESTED that the companies be blocked. I reminded them that Capital One had contacted ME about this fraud, and that since they also agreed that it was fraud should be responsible for blocking them in the first place.
I was then transferred to their Customer Service, who parroted everything the Fraud Department said. He then said he would transfer me to someone else in the Fraud Department. The line then went dead. I called back, having to then wait for a good 45 minutes (I was not giving up) to try to speak to someone else in the Fraud Department, and spoke with someone named Chrissy who was very rude. She reviewed my records, and informed me that the charges would be taken off, which would be reflected in 72 hours, and that these companies would be blocked. I informed her that should this happen again, I will take action (not sure how, since I do not have money for a lawyer). I also informed her that Capital One does not make me feel very safe and secure in utilizing their card. In neither conversation on either Sept 4, or 4 Oct (tonight) was I even given reference numbers, even though Ive requested this. How does one go about cancelling this card?

Then when the statement is delivered the next month I have been assessed interest and late fees. When I call to complain they always say the statements are sent out but because deleted or junk email is deleted after less than a month, I have no records to look back on to verify their claim. They also say it is my responsibility to make sure I check on the accounts every month, as I promised to do when I signed the contract/agreement. In other words Capitol One takes no responsibility even when they don't do what they say they will do as part of the agreement.
I have even resorted to creating a spreadsheet of accounts to make sure I don't forget any. But the current case in point, Menard's Big Card processed by Capitol One. The last statement I received did not include the most recent purchase. So even though I paid off the existing balance in full in August, I did not receive the September digital statement and so didn't realize there was still a balance for the most recent purchase. Capitol One counts on customers failing to be vigilant enough and not noticing when a statement is not received.

I contacted Capital One and asked for options as I could not pay it off. I was subsequently notified that a fixed rate loan was the only option. I filled out the paper work and waited. I finally contacted them and was told that it had "fallen in the cracks."
In Dec 2012, my wife filed for divorce and the assets were frozen. My attorney unsuccessfully requested several times that I be allowed to refinance the house. In May 2014, the assets were finally divided and I immediately withdrew funds from my Savings Plan and retired the debt. My credit report at this time only showed the debt as late for March through May 2012. As soon as I contacted Capital One for a payoff amount, they retroactively showed the debt as 120 days late from June 2013 through May 2014. I called them and was told that they could do nothing and I had to file a dispute with the Credit Bureaus. When I did that, Capital One now retroactively showed the debt 120 days late from June 2012 through May 2014.
The punitive actions by Capital One have left my finances in a shambles. I am saddled with the majority of the community debt from the divorce, incurred the tax liability of the withdrawal from my Savings Plan to payoff Capital One and was expecting to refinance the domicile to recover. Instead, my credit rating is decimated and I cannot refinance the house for a year because of the late payments on my credit report.
Requests to Capital One for an explanation of the punitive retroactive late payments have gone unanswered. Their customer relations is non-existent and the fact that the debt was given a non-accrual status thwarted efforts in early 2014 to refinance the house as they initially refused to provide a VOM to the lender. This account has been one bad experience after another.

I have a Capital One credit card that I keep a very low balance on. Wife paid statement from a savings account I do not use, but she did not know it, and the payment did not go through. We check the payments through our pay history on their website. Their website says payment was made even though it was not. I even screen shot the payment history and it says paid with a big green check mark beside it. I found this out the day before my house was to close and they pulled my final credit report, and needless to say I lost my house loan... and to boot, that little 75 dollar payment dropped my credit score almost 100 points. My lender told me to get a letter from Capital explaining the error and that would fix the problem but Capital One refused. They said they had no fault in this situation. I told them that that is not true since their website... that I was looking at when I was on the phone with them said the payment had been made, which is how we track to make sure that payments go through.
The person from Capital One basically told me I was lying and that it does not say it was paid, that instead it says "processing". Really. I told her that I would sit here on the line so she could look it up herself to see how wrong she was and lo and behold... it said paid. She did not even know what the website did and she works for this crooked company. Still, they put all the blame on me, said that it is not their fault that "their" website said paid even though it wasn't paid. I asked then why didn't they contact me regarding the matter and they said it was not their policy. So, to wrap up. Their website says the payment was made. They would not send a letter to my lender stating there was an error. The supervisor on the phone had no idea how their website worked and I lost my house loan... all for 75 dollars. Thanks Capital One... You all have been great. And to think I only got this credit card because I had to have a revolving credit line to buy the house.

Capital one cards are great for boosting your score. Depending on how low your score is when you apply you may have to begin with a secured card. Secured cards require you to send in some of your own money upfront but it is refundable and it is totally worth it if your credit means a lot to you. Capital one reports to the credit bureau often and they have excellent customer service. You do not have to link a bank account to pay and you do not have to pay 10 $ to Western Union or Walmart either. They have tons of payment vendors. The one I use is 1.50$ but it is free also to pay online from your bank account.
The advantage of using a fee payment service is you can call in the payment and they will immediately post it to your account. Also if you are ever in a pinch and pay a day late they are amazingly understanding and will remove your late fee for you! Just do NOT abuse it and expect this every month. I have had it happen twice in 2 years! Once I paid and it's on time and it just didn't post which is when I learned that you can call in your payment receipt #. All in all the secured card or the Journey student card or The Quick Silver Card are all AWESOME cards for building credit!

I was sent an invite to get a Capital One CC. I had to call in the information because I have a Freeze on all 3 credit bureaus and had to provide Cap 1 with an access code so they could access the credit information. This caused a great deal of confusion and I ended up talking to the department Manager (Peggy **) who basically said they didn't need the access codes to access my information and they had already done this 40 minutes before I knew the access code to the 3rd Credit co. Then she said I needed to lift the freeze Globally (anyone could access) on all 3 credit bureaus. Doesn't make sense to me.

Similar to some of the other reviews, I applied for a Capital One credit card mainly because I travel a lot and wanted to take advantage of the no international fees perk. Anyway, I applied in the Capital One 360 Cafe on Boylston Street in Boston. The people were quite nice, but in reality they didn't do anything I couldn't have just done from my personal computer. They get the account setup for a debit and credit account and the cards are supposed to be in the mail. Easy, Fast, and In-Person. Well... not so much.
I got the cards, but couldn't activate the credit card. It was immediately tagged for "Fraud" since the address I applied with was not part of my credit report. I applied with a Chicago Address that I was moving to and explained this clearly to the agent when creating my account. She said it would be no problem. Well turns out I need a Pay stub, a Utility Bill, or a copy of my Bank Statement with my address (I moved in yesterday) within 96 hours or else my account gets caught in limbo forever. Not to mention that I already uploaded my Social Security Card, my Driver's License, my Bank Statement (With the old address), and a picture of the confirmation from the USPS confirming the change of address.
I have a salary job that pays twice monthly, so the first pay stub I’ll get with this address is in 3 weeks. I'm not changing my Bank of America account to this address because I’m subletting this space for a few months, and like most high-rise renters in most major cities in america, I don't pay utilities, they're included with the assessments. Since I'm subletting I'm not the primary on the lease so Capital One won't accept that either. I've called 12 times so far, spoken to 20+ people, always to meet the same scripted answer - "Without a Bank statement, pay stub, or Utility bill to confirm that address uploaded to our site in 96 hours your account will be locked out and cannot be changed."
Great Capital One - not only does your system/script make me out to be homeless, but also you've just negatively impacted my credit score for no reason. All the while though, each person I spoke to has said that I can just go apply for another account with a different address (they want me to apply with an address I don't actually live at just to get around this rule). What terrible customer service, what a worthless establishment. I recommend Chase or Citi - you might pay some fees, but your head won't be spinning. The best part... the credit card didn't even have the new chipset security. No wonder Capital One has such a Fraud Issue.

So I applied for the Sony PlayStation card through an email I received with Capital One. I said why not because of the $50 voucher for PlayStation Network. Well, I was approved for $3000 limit and received the card in about a week. I activated the card with no problems and was using it just fine making purchases of items I needed and to pay my rent on time. Well here is where the chaos starts.
I get a call from a rep that leaves a message saying she needs to verify some information on my application I submitted. Well I missed the call because my phone was on silent. I called back to speak with someone and I get the shock of my life that my account had been cancelled because of Credit Card Application fraud. I get told by the rep that the fraud department made a call and knows I made a false claim on my application. Well, this is a shock to me because everything I put on the application was truthful and I have no reason to lie.
Well after this, I started to ask questions because hearing something like this is shocking and worrisome. I get told that since my account is cancelled they can no longer help me and that I have to call back on Tuesday because there are no fraud investigators in the office because of Labor Day. I ask what do they believe is fraudulent and they tell me because of the sensitivity of the investigation they can't discuss anything. Well since the first rep didn't want to help I asked for a supervisor and they tell me the same scripted stuff. I ask if they find it's not fraudulent will they reactivate my account and I get told "probably not because it's already been closed and they know you've committed fraud." The saddest thing during all this is they tell me I am able to apply for another credit card with them and they would transfer me to the right department to do so.
Well I don't let it end here because I listen to the message again to see what was said so I can see if I missed something the rep said. Well I didn't mishear anything, so I decide to call back. I get another guy who is actually somewhat intelligent. He tells me some different stuff that their system had flagged me and they were checking into it but the account was still closed. He also tells me that I can also still apply for another credit card. I ask him, "Well, how is this going to affect me if I get approved again?" I get told it won't affect me in any way and it's not considered in their judgement because the accounts closed. How does this make sense and why do they let me apply for another card with no hassle?
The funny thing is I asked the guy about the charges I had made on the card and how am I going to pay them off. He tells me that the card is closed and it isn't possible. Then in the same sentence tells me that this doesn't sound fraudulent because you are trying to figure out how to pay for your charges. Well I did just to see what would happen and wouldn't you know, I get approved with the same exact information and the person helping me didn't say anything at all about information coming up fraudulent. This is a nightmare and ridiculous. All for a PSN code and some cushion for my family.

After 20+ phone calls (25 hours of online and phone) including a 3 way conversation with a Capital One Representative, myself and a Trans Union representative who stated the score sent to me by them (Trans Union) is correct. All this was to no avail.... Capital One states my dispute is with Trans Union. Hard to believe that so many inept people could be employed by one company. I am more upset at them than the company that ripped me off! I purchased personal training sessions from Gold's Gym on my Capital One card. After I made attempts to schedule training sessions, only to have them rescheduled and canceled, I decided to cancel my sessions and my membership. I walked in to the Gold's Gym location to speak to a manager and eventually the general manager, and canceled my membership and training sessions. The gym apparently denied my refund and never notified me. Not only did they not notify me, they processed an additional monthly personal training charge of $80. I called the gym, in an attempt to rectify the situation, but to no avail. The robot, Sharon, on duty manager of the Simi Valley Gold's Gym, callously informed me that it was denied and offered me no solutions to cancel. I contacted my banks to dispute the charges. Neither Chase, nor Capital One performed the way you would expect your financial institution, but at least Chase did their job.
Capital One, on the other hand is like a circus. I received notice on the 19th of this month, that Capital One was going to reapply the charges to my account. After several attempts to reason with Capital One, it has become completely evident to me that it is a lost cause. Even though, the Gym has not disputed my membership charges, two monthly personal training sessions, and I have a refund ticket number from an assistant manager at the gym, Capital One has told me that I will still owe the money, due to the fact that I do not have a signed cancellation document, from Gold's Gym! I contacted them and was told they needed a copy of my driver’s license and social security card. Then last week they called and added that they needed a copy of my utility bill. This morning (Sunday Morning!) they called and needed to have a 3-way call to verify my PG&E account with a PG&E representative. I told them its Sunday and offices are open 9-5 Mon - Friday, but they tried anyway and told me there would be a 50 minute hold time, after which they told me the lines were down due to the earthquake this AM (PG&E and our local lines were NOT affected).
They now have a copy of my MasterCard, my social security card, my MediCare card, my utility bill, my driver’s license - and they are still harassing me for more. What can I do to stop this? I called them up and stated I did not want their card and asked how this could happen. The person from who knows what country was clueless. I then went online and got a customer service phone number and called it. The guy couldn't say how the account got started but said there was a fraud alert for this card. The recording asked to verify the last 4 digits on the card, and the last 4 of his SSN. The next recording said there is fraudulent activity on his card and would be transferred to the fraud dept. We thought it was really odd, since he was trying to activate it. We waited for almost 10 minutes for a rep. He asked my husband to verify his identity due to fraud. He asked to verify his Name, Birthdate, SSN, and address. He did. Then they wanted his driver's license for further verification. My husband was going to do it, then I stopped him. I told them to ask, how can they verify his identity through his DL number when it was never given. We thought it was really odd, so we called back on a different number I got online for Capital One.
We spoke to a nice guy named Mark. He also confirmed that there was fraudulent activity on the card and then wanted my husband to "MAIL" a copy of his SSN, or a bill, or his passport..... How is there fraudulent activity on a card never activated, and why did they want my husband to willingly give his DL# number over the phone for ID, to activate the card but when he refused they then told him to mail in a copy of other verification. There is something wrong with this company. We have American Express and never had this problem. We told them they lost our business and we would go elsewhere. Mark told us that we still needed to send the information since the card was still sent out. HUH?! IT'S NOT ACTIVATED! We told him we're going to cut it up. He insisted on we still needed to verify my husband identity.. FOR WHAT? We hung up.

A month ago, I called to pay off my account. I noticed an email a few days ago that reflected a 'statement.' This was a surprise to me since I spent an hour closing and paying the balance. I even called friends and family after the fact to tell them how pleased I was to be done with Capital One. As the owner of a small business, I reluctantly drew an account for less than 3K to assist with my business' first trade show. Since then, even after monthly payments above the minimum, my account barely moved due to their extremely high interest rates. This company basically just steals money. I finally closed the account less than a year later and asked the rep to pay my balance in full.
This never happened and they continued to charge me over 80 in fees. They never apologized for incorrectly processing my request and in fact turned the blame on me for not making sure that they actually did their job of closing and paying off my account--something that a bank should be quite familiar with.
Others I've spoken with have similar issues with this company and I would warn any individual from working with this bank, even if they are in a pinch. It's better to not grow your business than to be taken for a ride with a partner like this.

To be fair and accurate, Capital One is a business - that's about where it stops. I have had one of their cheesy cards for about 2 years, never missed a payment and overpaid most of the time, but I don't use it that much. I was thinking (big mistake) that if I kept a balance on the card and paid these clowns the interest consistently that they would increase the limit over time. This is not the case! I talked to one of their account supervisors today who said they do not increases limits except by some computerized formula that works automatically - therefore she had no control. When she told me this, she then proceeded to try to tell me why this was a good system, but seriously, I have no interest in their reasons since I am renting a vehicle to move to go across province to start a new job that pays 3x what I make now.
My conclusion is that it is pointless to acquire a Capital One card to acquire if they cannot make allowances for positive change and I will cancel the card the first month in the new job and go for a credit card solution that is actually reasonable, flexible and viable. Like all banks and credit card companies, I hope to live long enough to see them all collapse into a heap of their own feces. If we can accelerate their demise, I think it would be a good idea. Pay them off, use cash or barter and starve the beast.

I recently received a Capital One credit card. I used it three times when I received a call from Capital One informing me that there may be fraudulent activity on the account. I returned the call and spent at least 2.5 hours trying to find out what was going on. I answered the security questions and was informed that my telephone number (the same one on the account, and the same one they called me on) could not be verified, which left me with two options: first, I could photocopy my driver's license and Social Security card, front and back, and mail it to them. Upon receipt of these items they assured me that my card would be released. Second, I could go to a bank and ask the teller to verify my identity.
Of course I am not going to give them copies of my driver's license or Social Security card, and do not want to be humiliated by having to go to my bank begging to be identified as me. Upon receiving my bill I tried one more time to get satisfaction concerning my account. I was told that they could not verify a cell phone number and I was left with the same two options as before. I asked the woman on the phone if I still owed the money, meaning if they think the owner of the card is a thief then the charges could not be valid to the person whose Social Security number they have. I then asked multiple times for them to cancel the card. I was told that I could not cancel the card because it was in the fraud department.
After the third time of asking to cancel the card I informed the woman that I am considering getting legal counsel because this seems illegal and that I was going to tell everyone I could via all mediums of their discriminatory policies concerning cell phone only customers. She replied that if I could sleep at night that I should go ahead and do so. I believe that nobody should ever do business with this company. Please make this decision for yourself. I've had my Capital One card since 2009, I got it right before going overseas by myself for the first time during my studies at UNC. I was glad to get it, needed one for while I'm abroad. I got a limit of 300$, I knew it wasn't much but had a good stockpile of money to handle expenses and any unforeseen circumstances in France that summer. Let's fast forward to 2014, the current year we are in.
It is now 2014, I have two credit cards, a wonderful Wells Fargo card that goes up every six months with a steady limit and the ability to take on any expenses if I need it, and I pay it on time and regularly. Unfortunately, Capital One has refused to raise my limit since the initial limit of 300$ in 2009. I am surprised using a card and being a customer of theirs for 5 years has merited a stagnant card limit, I'm not that upset over it but it's frustrating only when I need it from time to time.
Pro - no international fees, ok APR and ease of use. I use it for the books and CDs I buy when I'm overseas. I am bothered that when I do use this, I am at nearly 100% card usage. I have generally been on time but their bad communication and other issues have resulted in a few late payments (which are more than 10% of the card's limit). Mea culpa.
The main issue is the fact that I have asked multiple times to raise the limit, very calmly and very nicely. I get very poor service from wherever they have their call center (if I ever find it, I may toss rocks and leave bags of flaming fecal matter on their doorstep, might also beat my shoe against their doors and windows for added insult). They are rude to me and their command of English is generally horrible. I'm nearly trilingual and I am very careful with my second and third languages, and I try to be helpful to people. Not the case.
They refuse to raise my limit. Why? "Your account is not eligible for a limit increase" - it has been for 5 years. Another reason is "Lack of use" - ok, but you don't raise my limit to not make me worry about the percent increase. I have a good credit score and have a great main credit card. I don't understand their poor treatment and general refusal to raise a card limit over 5 years of remaining one of their customers. I'm considering just cancelling it and suffering the consequence of a credit rating depreciation...

I had a GM Mastercard for over twenty years and never had a single problem until Capital One took over the card operation about a year and a half ago. Six months or so after the switch to Capital One, my card unexpectedly stopped working. The Capital One security people questioned a perfectly legitimate charge. The same thing happened a few months later. Even though I had over $9000 in available credit, Capital One thought a $2100 charge for a deposit on a cruise was too high and they again put a freeze on my card. This time no one had the courtesy to call and let me know.
The final incident came when I went to Canada on vacation and used the card at my hotel and a local restaurant. Capital One called my home in Massachusetts to ask me to verify the charges. When they couldn't get an answer right away, they canceled my card and sent a new one to my home address. That left me stranded outside the United States with no credit card and with very little money. Capital One refused to reactivate the card in my wallet so I could continue using it during my vacation. They also sidestepped my question as to why they called my home in Massachusetts to ask me to verify that I was using the card outside the US.
What makes their action particularly galling is the fact that I have never had an unauthorized charge posted to my account in the twenty-two years I had a GM card, nor have I ever failed to pay the outstanding balance in full. I was so disgusted I told the service rep. to cancel the card. Her response? No problem. I can take care of that right now. Capital One makes their money on finance charges. It's quite apparent they don't want customers like me who pay their monthly balance in full to avoid those charges.

I had a lengthy conversation about my card and how I had it back and just needed it to be unfrozen. The customer service rep, ("David") said "Yep, ok, I've cancelled the card."
I got very upset, as seconds ago we were talking about how the card only needed to be unfrozen but I just out of habit he pressed the wrong button. So I'm sent a new card. While I am waiting for the new card to arrive, I look at the closed account and "see that a transaction has gone through". I call to inform them that this is indeed suspicious activity. My new card arrives and all is well.
The good folk at Capital One don't know what to do with my complaint that charges should NOT go through cancelled cards, even if I am no longer responsible for it. I thought they would find that very fishy. Anyway, I go through all manner of trying to point out to them this issue and they respond by sending me a letter telling me that they are cancelling the NEW card, which was always ok.
I just got off the phone with them and they deny sending me a letter saying they were going to cancel my card and reissue another. THAT'S NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Anyway, I think the cheapest way they deal with problems is to just close an account and send a new card no questions asked. I was only trying to highlight their own vulnerability, but it didn't fit their script so they don't care.

I was told to call back on Monday the following week to see if anything else happens.
Monday, June 16th, 2014, I called Capital One to further ask about to two separate charges on my dummy debit card. My original debit card arrived on the weekend. I was told that my bank account was put on hold from a fraud situation that happened a year ago. I was told to walk inside of a local bank branch and ask to receive permission to keep the account open. The following day, I went inside the bank branch to which I opened the account in and told my situation of what happened. I was told that I will receive a call the following business day from the District Manager. The next business day, I did not receive a phone call. I called the bank on the following business day and was told that they're still doing an investigation and someone will contact me to let me know the status of my account.
One week passed, I heard nothing from anyone. I walked inside of the branch and was told that the District Manager was in a meeting for about four days and has not made a decision on my account. The next business day, I called Capital One customer service line and was told that they're still doing an investigation on my account and to wait until the District Manager make a decision to whether or not I can still bank with Capital One.
I did just that, waited. I got tired of waiting and I told the Capital One representative, "Why is everyone not telling me what's going on, on my account?" I said, "I was cleared from the previous investigation and was allowed to continue to bank with your institution. How come no one put a hold on my account or stopped me from reopening a new account when I decided to come back?" The only reason why I came back to Capital One, because I was pleased with how I was treated the first time I experienced such an embarrassing situation. I felt comfortable knowing that if any other situation that occur, I knew in my mind that Capital One would be there as well.
Unfortunately, they wasn't. Every Customer Service Representative I talked to was very rude. He/She didn't have any knowledge of what was going on. If they did have any knowledge to what was going on, nobody told me anything. There was only one person that was nice and helpful. I told her thank you for being such a nice person because she was the only one who handled business as she could and she did a very good job at what she was doing.
To make a long story short, It took an entire month to get a response as to whether or not to bank with Capital One. They closed my account and I received the remaining amount of money that was left in the account back. I'm not disrespecting Capital One institution. I'm just sharing my story. Ladies and Gentlemen, be careful of what's going on around you. Make sure you know what's in front of you and be careful of all the schemes out here that's going on. Make sure you look at your bank statement and know what's going on. Anyone can be a victim of a fraud but make sure if you do become a victim of a fraud, make sure that you be strong throughout its stressful process. Have a good day. Hope this review is helpful.

A week later the exact same charges showed up again. When I called to ask, they told me the investigation would take 30-60 days after I was told it was taken care of. Now our family vacation that has been planned for months, that we are leaving in 4 days is ruined! I wish I would have never paid off the account because I would have plenty of money in my checking account but instead I paid off my card & now only have $200 available! Nobody can help me at Capital now I have spoke with managers & nothing has been accomplished!

I have had a Capital One card for several years now and have never missed a payment. I have had hardships and called them to explain that I wasn't able to make my July payment this month. They said no problem and they would just put the minimum due payment on my TOTAL BALANCE for the next three months and after that time I could just make the minimum payment from then on to keep my good standing with them. I had the representative repeat the program three times so I understood very clearly what she had promised me. Well today I received the monthly statement and it showed I was past due and that my minimum payment needed was doubled. Frantically I called them and explained what happened and to my surprise they said they never heard of such a plan. They refused to do anything to help me so I had them close the card forever.
What a horrible, deceiving experience and now my credit will be destroyed because of their lies and horrible customer service which I found to be useless. They said I misunderstood the agreement which was another lie for I heard the so called agreement explained to me three times beforehand. I am very upset and I have worked so hard to keep my payments up like I always have only to have everything destroyed by their lies and deceitfulness!!

(Unbeknownst to me, their notification letters sat on someone's desk for a week, before they were mailed.) I couldn't make alternate arrangements that quickly. Therefore, some of my direct deposits that arrived after my accounts were closed were returned. They also closed my husband's separate account, simply because his account was jointly in my name. All of the Capital Zero management officials with whom I had previously communicated ignored my requests for an explanation. Their customer service is miserable.

When notified on Jan 1st of the Target account breach in mid-Dec, the Cap1 email stated "If we determine that your account is at risk, we may proactively issue you a card with a new account number." A new card was shipped on Feb 17th with the instruction to stop using the old card as soon as the new one arrived and was initialized. This happened on Feb 21st. The new card came with assurances that the old card would be shut off so we left for a vacation in Houston one week later, confident that the problem was taken care of. In mid-vacation (Saturday Mar 1), a $400 charge and a $300 charge were made against my old (supposedly closed) card at two retail locations in Tacoma, WA.
From my hotel room in Houston, I notified the Cap1 fraud department which, in their infinite wisdom, shut off my new good card!!! As far as they knew, I was stuck to work off the hotel bill by becoming a MAID! During the 1.5 hour conversation, the "service" person that I spoke with was barely intelligible and occasionally used jargon I would have no knowledge of. She informed me that a new card would arrive at the hotel "in 2 or 3 business days and" BTW - "it won't be mailed until Monday", meaning that there was no way the card could reach me before we returned to Seattle.
I called back on Sunday and tried to persuade the Fraud Department to overnight the card since it made no sense to have another card floating around with my name on it that I had no chance of receiving. Another 1.5 hour conversation ensued. When the card was mailed, it wasn't until 5 pm Monday! In Houston it was sent to the wrong zip code, thus ensuring that I wouldn't get it. On Mar 6th (now back in Seattle), another card was overnighted to me with no difficulty. The card that had been sent to Houston was instantly retrieved with no difficulty. I have no use for Capital One, especially their Fraud Department.

I had an Orchard Bank Card that was switched over to Capital One. I received a bill today for $170.10 that said the balance had to be paid in full by August 2nd and that my account had been closed. I had not use the account in a year so I was surprised that there was any balance on the card. This was the first statement I had received from them. When I called, I was told that I had unpaid membership fees that went over 120 days unpaid so they cleared the balance and closed the account. They said that any credit bureau reporting had been cleared off. I was transferred to a manager, who when I informed that I hadn't received any statements or letters until today said that "you should contact the post office to find out if they're sending all my mail". She couldn't seem to understand that this bill seemed to get to me just fine. HORRIBLE Nightmare experience with Capital One bank! I have (had) three accounts with Capital One bank: a savings account, a premier checking acct and a high yield checking account. On July 2, 2014, I called to close out the Saving account as it was no longer needed. The savings account was closed out. On Monday July 7th, when I logged into my account not only was my savings closed out (which I had requested), but my Premier Checking was closed out as well! I had numerous NSF charges and a return items from my homeowners Insurance (auto deduct)!!! I called Capital One and spoke with a Manager and was told they closed the account. I proceeded to tell her I NEVER asked for this account to be closed. She indicated she would reopen account and all would be fine with my Premier Account, but indicated I would not see the change on my side for a day or two.
On Wednesday, I logged into the account and it was still closed out and the balance on the account being mailed to me. I called and spoke with the same manager again, ONCE Again we went thru the same scenario of telling them I NEVER asked for the account to be closed out. With 3 returned checks and a denial for auto deduct on Home Insurance, I demanded Capital One call each of the accounts with NSF, with me on the line and explain the issue was Capital One' s fault, which she did. The account was reopened on Wednesday, July 9th. I called the "executive customer service team" (703) 720-2500 and issue was still not resolved. I have done everything in my power to resolve this, but the headaches, the time taken and the utter frustration, not to mention embarrassing when a $30 check to my doctor is returned NSF!!!!
And now, this morning, Friday July 11th, the account was Closed AGAIN, without my permission, without checks being cleared!!!! This is way beyond incompetence... My week has been a living nightmare due to Capital One Bank's total disregard for resolving this issue. This is inexcusable and I would NEVER suggest anyone do business with Capital One Bank.

Can't they obtain that information with my social security number? I'm 51 years old and no one has ever requested these from me for a credit card. If I was a college student earning 10,000 per year, I'd get approved. They were of no help whatsoever and them reading from a script gave me no logical explanation. My husband had an account with Capital One and an excellent credit score. It was paid on time and carried a small balance, but had a credit limit of $6000.00, this was to be used for vacation and/or emergency. Having this card for 5 years +, he went to use his bank debit card and it was declined due to "Frozen/Locked" account. Capital One had filed a judgment against him stating his balance of $6400.00 was past due and no payment had been made for months. His card number had been used for almost 3 months without his knowledge and $6000.00 was the amount charged. As soon as he found out, he reported this to Capital One and his bank that had frozen his account.
The customer service department for Capital One was totally rude and disbelieving that he was not the one who incurred the charges. After requesting documentation of the charges he was told it would be 30-60 days and they continued charging him for Credit Protection even after his account was considered closed and had his bank account frozen in the amount of $2000.00 and any future deposits while informing him he was not eligible to use the Credit Protection services he had paid for since the account was opened. After closing his account he was still being charged for that service, further increasing the amount. He has been constantly harassed at his job, at home and his cell phone is called at least 6 times a day. Our neighbors have even been called and told about his "non payment" to this company. His credit has been ruined and his reputation.
At the age of 52 all that he has worked hard for has suddenly been taken from him because someone used his Capital One card without his consent or knowledge for months and was not questioned by the company, but allowed to continue without his knowledge or consent. Only after his bank account was frozen did his statements start showing the illegal activity for this account. The notification of action being taken against him came after action had already ruined his/our lives. This has been going on beyond the statute of limitations and they still continue ruining our lives with no legal repercussion. How do they continue to get away with this while we continue to suffer for their lack of protecting the Credit we paid for both financially and now emotionally. Where does it end?

In 2003, Capital One contacted me saying that I had an account with them amount due somewhere around 900. The account was opened at my Dad's address which I didn't live there. I was still in California, didn't move to Nevada until November 03. They said the account was opened in May 03. I just went through terrible separation after 25 years of marriage so I moved to Nevada at my Mom's address which was a different address from my Dad's. I got a summons from the court at my Dad's address. I wasn't there to sign the papers so my Dad signed them, I was in California.
When I got back, the 20/30 days had passed. They garnished my account for $300 so I called, told them it wasn't my account. They wouldn't listen to me. They said if I didn't pay Nexon kind of payment arrangement that it would keep going up and then go in and garnish my account again. So at this point, instead of fighting with them, agreed that I pay 'em $20 a month and for the first 3 months OK and then I moved again, lost their address.
I moved maybe 12 times in 10 years and 2009 I move to California and stay there a year. In 2010, I moved back to Nevada because my Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer so, I was living on his property and the month he passed away in March 2012, they garnished my checking account for 1100 dollars without notifying me for the last 2 years. The bank continue harassing me so I closed my checking account and had to drive an hour away to cash my check the last two yrs. I'm on a fixed income on the facts that I been ill most of my life, physically diagnosed when I was 18 with MS.
I contacted the lawyers that were working with Capital One that garnish my check and told them they need to look into the account, this is not my account. I'm tired of running from them. I live on a fixed income, have to drive an hour every months to cash my check. 3 months ago, I finally got someone to listen. I contacted Capital One, I told her they used an old account and they drop the first number on the account that my ex and I filed bankruptcy on in 1997. Capital One sent me two letters dating that it was a fraudulent account. And they would contact my credit and have the credit reporting agencies to delete the count from the credit file within 30 to 60 days. They also refunded me $983 that I believe wasn't fair that they took out altogether 1400.
After all the harassment and stressful situations that they put me in the month my Dad passed away, they left me with 600 my account to live on that month. I believe there should be some kind of a repercussion punitive damages and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with stuff like this and I'm outraged! And I have all documentation and I have bank statements from 2003 to 2014, all documentations.

Well as anyone knows, with bad credit you really are nobody. So I decided to ask Cap One for a credit rebuilding card which was the one that has a 300 limit. I could have gone with another card but at a high interest rate of 36%. But Cap One has one at a still high rate of 29% which is a lot better plus no big 95 dollar fee to open. Pay 29, 49, or 200 and have a line of credit. Well to make a long story short, I was turned down 3 to 4 times, all the while Cap One was pulling down my credit score. That's all they would say was.... Well if you are not approved for this card try again and again. Called to ask why and they dredged up some stuff from my past that had to be 5, 7 to 10 years old and some lame thing about not having revolving credit. Well Cap One, if you got bad credit who in the world is going to take you?.. It was my impression that's what a rebuilding credit card is for. I have seen people on unemployment, illegal aliens, drug dealers have this card. Even my cousin who is in jail for embezzlement was given one. Do you think i don't know how it works?.. A person gives you 75 dollars for, well let's say 200 dollars line of credit.
But here's what I am after, they report to 3 big thugs of the credit world who have cornered the market and without them you get nothing. Credit now is the new cash in America. By the way Cap One, if I had good credit and didn't need you, I so would not come a knocking on your door.. The way I see it, if I had good credit I would not need you like you are trying to tell me. YOU DON'T NEED OR WANT MY BUSINESS. Because I am a credit risk for a whopping 300 dollars minus the first payment which in turn makes the loan 200. Gee whiz, Cap One that's what I call penny pinching to the extreme. Well folks, GOOD luck to me for I will need to get a credit card from the COMMERCE BANK OF BEVERLY HILLS MR DYSDALE.

Capital One then charged me 15 dollars on top of the wirings each, so I was charged a total of $40 per incoming wiring. I contacted my original bank and was confirmed that they indeed posted the full amount, as my outgoing charges were posted on a different account that I maintain in my original bank. I am hoping that Capital One would call me back and solve this issue. This is blatant stealing.

I have a business card. I travel, card was declined. I called, plenty of space left, never ever late with a payment. Why is it restricted? They needed me to prove who I was. Fine, no cell service where I am in the mountains. Told them that, didn't believe me. Told me to go to a strange bank in a strange town, have them verify who I am. Have the strange bank call them and they would give me 'secret further instructions'... SERIOUSLY? Who is the fraud here? Capital One!!! I am transferring the balance, the payment I am sure they will accept, and cutting all of the accounts up. Worst Customer Service and Worst Card robbers ever! But them up people... go to Barclay!

On March 16, 2014 I checked my Capital One account online and found $3k in unauthorized charge. I was told my card was cancelled, but the following day another $1k in charges came thru. These charges all took place at a Walmart, McDonald's, Chuck-E-Cheese, etc. in Green Bay Wisconsin. I live in Sunnyvale, CA and have never been to Wisconsin, and never shop at any of the establishments where the fraudulent charges were made. They all occurred over a week and a half period, and I usually go online and check my balance every week or so, and was surprised when I saw the charges come up.
At first I felt C1 was helping me, but then over the next month it became apparent that C1 was doing nothing to address the situation, find out how my # was stolen and a new card created (the actual card never left my possession). C1 opened and closed multiple cases, the case worker refused to call my cell, and only called my home #, where he knew he could just leave a message and not actually speak with me or address my concerns. It has now been almost a month, and I've been reassured that the charges will be reversed and my credit restored. We'll see. Regardless, I do not trust Capital One with my personal information and would never recommend this company.

The day before my payment on my KOHL's account was due, (through Capital One) Capital One's website stopped accepting my logins and told me I had never been logged in before, which was untrue since I had paid previously using that exact login and password. I called to make a payment over the phone and their automated system said they were "too busy, good bye" and hung up on me. I was not able to get a hold of them for a few days. When I did get through, I was told I now had a $15 late fee on a $48.69 balance. Effectively over a fourth of the remaining balance and further that if I paid over the phone I would have to pay an additional $10 for the privilege. They did agree to waive the fee, but after I paid it, they kept the fee and claimed it was because of a $1 service charge they added on without telling me. They are thieves and a sign of what is wrong with this country when this kind of behavior is allowed.

My payment was behind because of out of work so talked with agent on the phone at Capital One and he talked me into put a draft on my bank account (for a week away) for the payment even though I told him I didn't want to because I probably wouldn't have any $ in the bank then. And I didn't, so I called them to stop it and they said there was no draft set up on my account, but it came through the next day and cost me $72 overdraft charges (might as well be $1,00000 as broke as I am). I called them to stop it so it wouldn't come through again and they said they couldn't but I called my bank and they said that they could if they wanted to.

First time, I forgot to make a $20 balance payment just a few days past the due. I need to pay for the interest and the finance charge, which is OK for me---it is my fault. Then, after I make all the payment, and a couple of days later, I used the card for a purchase, the next day I was charged a interest for the purchase. I called for a reason, they just read the disclosure to me, which basically said that I need to pay an interest because I had a late payment before. I don't understand--- I paid everything and used the card after that, I can't use the card anymore without paying interest for anything I spent on the card in the future? So I close the account by phone.
Later, I found I need to get the cash back left on the account. But they said I can't get any cash back because the account has been closed. Why didn't the representative tell me that when I closed the account? But the agent said I need to read the disclosure.

Have explained my current financial situation: "we don't care; you have to pay today!" Tried to arrange payment, that was rejected: "we will call until you catch up" the agent shouted. I made partial payment and begged to get a break until next payday - they just keep harassing my family, day and night. Criminals are treated better. I believe the practices of this company are beyond acceptable. They are harassment, don’t listen to client, just want to shout, belittle you, and humiliate.

I opened an account with Capital One Bank here in League City, Texas in October 2011 at .75%. The first full year the interest paid fell short by $300. The year 2013 the interest paid fell short by $1,400. When I asked for an explanation, I was informed that I had the option of taking my account elsewhere and that the .75% was a teaser or promotional rate. This was never our agreement when the account was opened. No other bank or institution has done this to any account with them, all paid the interest agreed at the time of opening various accounts.

We immediately paid the following month in an attempt to rectify the situation, but was told that the payment would not go through for another day or two. Now we don't have a card in a foreign country. There's no option in their system to help their customers. We've been loyal customers for 11 years without one missed payment. We attempted to increase our credit limit to no avail. There are no options! This is unacceptable behavior and I wouldn't recommend this company.

What was Capital One doing when our country needed help during economical tough times? They were very busy being so focused on taking advantage of the unemployed victims to make certain they couldn't recover financially, hence, more interest rates can be gained from them, in addition to making certain they are also doomed for life. "Cold-hearted un-American" couldn't describe enough of "Capital One." Shame on them, but then again, they have no shame... May the company fall from lawsuits that they so very much deserve!!!

I had a Capital One card for probably better than 10 years. I always paid on time and my credit with Capital One was so fantastic, I had a Platinum card with $10,000 credit and little if any interest. I was laid off in 2009. My husband was also laid off. We had a little over $6000 in credit card debt with Capital One. I called them and asked them to freeze the amount and I would make small payments until we were back on our feet again. I talked to them on more than one occasion. Capital One refused to work with me.
In order to keep the roof over our head, keep food on the table for my son, I opted to pay my mortgage, insurance, taxes and grocery bills over paying this credit card. Almost five years later we ended up in court. I didn't have any representation, but we ended up freezing the amount and making small payments, which is what I had asked them to do five years earlier. We are currently making small payments each month and when our financial situation gets better, we will increase them. Even though we are making payments as agreed in court, Capital One has ruined our credit by listing us as a Charge-off, even though we pay them every month as agreed.
My son is in college and I can't get a college loan for him and may have to withdraw him from getting an education because of Capital One. After all the years of doing business with this company they wouldn't work with me when I needed them to, and then destroyed my credit. Every college loan I applied for denied me because of the charge off from Capital One, and for that reason only. They don't accept a credit history with a charge off. I will never do business with them again and I tell everyone I meet my story with Capital One in the hopes they will never do business with them or cancel any dealings they currently have. Capital One does not appreciate customers.

Been disputing a relatively small charge which has been proven to be illegitimate after speaking with the merchant and Capital One and now my patience has run out so I'm venting on here for the benefit of anybody who might be looking at opening an account with the bank. The process to dispute a charge has been drawn out unnecessarily and littered with misinformation from Capital One reps (for instance being told that the charge would be taken care of, when it never was) and total incompetence and disorganization (a letter which was requested and sent was supposedly received but then lost? What one rep told me the day before concerning some procedure or process was incorrect, etc.).
I've had to make 6 separate phone calls now and keep being told additional steps to take after being told that the last step was the final one. The process to dispute such a small and obviously made up charge makes me worry what I'll have to do if a larger charge that was illegitimate ever showed up on my account and is making me consider closing my account and getting a card from my local credit union which always is very helpful when an issue or problem arises. I've had the Capital One card for a good long while now and have never missed a payment or had any issues with fraudulent charges before.
This is the first time I've had a problem and the customer service department has been very frustrating and trying to deal with because it seems like nobody wants to deal with whatever they have to do behind their desk to complete the process... as usual with these big companies and banks, it's a pass the buck scenario. Don't expect anything different or better with Capital One.

They said in the letter to me they only received request and check was not with it..... well... After speaking to my bank they saw one of the checks Capital one claimed not to have had cleared. I tried to tell the customer service rep. that but she told me I would have to talk to someone else... then I was told I would have to talk to someone else again...
They couldn't understand why I would be upset with them. I thought I was pretty calm considering they were giving me the run around and claiming to not receive a payment for one thousand dollars! The final Capital One person I was able to reach after calling back was more competent and actually helped me. He thought I should just keep calling to check and see if the check cleared so they could do a recovery and find out what happened. I think they just like to give people a hard time and stall paying off accounts so they can get more interest money out of everyone....Worse credit card company ever!! Ok, all of a sudden I get this bill with my payment jumping to $86.00 a month and late charges of $25.00 twice. So I call them to find out why. The only thing they could come up with was some check cashed in 2012 where the rate of interest changed after some certain date. And it was my fault since I didn't catch when my payment raised to $56.00, and I only paid them the $47.00 for two months in a row when they had raised my payments to the $56.00. They did remove the late charges but I had to send them $86.00 in order to stop them from tacking on more late charges. When I get this account paid off I will never borrow from Capital One again. I did this by doing all of my credit cards and banking with Capital One exclusively. They gave me a second chance. A card with a starting credit limit of $250 was upped to $500 in a few months as promised.
Two years later, my credit report has only one outstanding issue and Capital One is treating me fairly honestly and they keep their word. As I continue to rely on Capital One I can see the logic of their credit reviews and I see positive results as I use their services wisely and pay early and keep my outstanding balance no higher than 20%. I am pleasantly surprised by finding one fair financial institution. It seems that they have consistently revised their credit review parameters as the economy improved, as credit risk moderated and as customers with a financial profile demonstrated steady improvise net.
Try them. Use their online app. Use their alerts to keep you aware of what is happening on your account. Loyalty to a large financial company is the last thing I expected to ever have again. But I must compliment Capital One both for their policies but even more because if you have life changing events that have made you look bad, and we all have the last 5 years, then reach out, make a firm clear knowledgeable attempt to work with Capital One. Something told me not to open an account with Capital One and I should have listened to that nagging thought. However as I stood inside of Bank of America for 20 minutes unserviced I decided to research other options. I came upon capitalone and visited their website (capitalone.com) to open an account. They offer me 360 checking and savings...if you are familiar with shopping for banking service then you may be aware many organizations come up with nifty names for the "accounts" (e.g. Chase Total Checking).
Anyway unbeknownst to me this account with NO FEES, etc I was signing up for on the capitalone website...is for another BANK. Apparently Capital One 360 which bears the same name and logo as Capital One is a separate entity to which Capital One has no access to do anything. You can't transfer money without it taking 2-3 days, they can't print a card for you to access your money, No one at the branch including management is knowledgeable about the companies. Only saying "well that's not us, you have to call "them". "Uhhh you are them...I went to your website and clicked sign up for checking account." That's like going to BankofAmerica.com and them offering you an account with Wells Fargo instead WTF!
So I call 360 and they are no more help. The rep told me my card would arrive in 3-5 business days, 8 days later I have no card, no branch of "Capital One" can or will do anything and they have $3000 of my money which I got direct deposited into their stupid account. They offer to overnight a 2nd card and charge me $25 ummm WTF I think not. I spoke to 3 Managers at 360 to get this fee waived. In addition they tell me they can only Overnight it via FedEx which doesn't deliver on weekend. But they use USPS to send out normal delivery? I suggest Overnight via USPS as they deliver on weekends and I could have my card by Saturday, as opposed to waiting til Tuesday since it's a Holiday Weekend.
Their management team doesn't seem to have a grasp on customer service and what it means to service the customer, the managers at Capital One don't seem to understand that referring people to their website is a dumb F'n idea. This company has stolen $3000 and is paying no interest on the money. I'd like to hit them with some fees of my own. I have contacted my credit union and will have all funds moved to there as SOON as I CAN MAKE A WITHDRAWAL.
CAPITAL ONE PREYS on TEENAGERS, LOW-INCOME Individuals & Their Families to bolster their portfolio as being the largest credit card lender in the US. They steal from unsuspecting clients to bolster their deposit portfolio. They do this because they are scum and have no sense of obligation to the people whom allow their business to be possible. BANKS operate because people give them money to lend to other people and thus interest is earned and profits are made. This model is supposed to include all stakeholders benefiting from the process of asset management. CAPITAL ONE has no respect for its own industry. It truly needs to be broken up and absorbed by Wells Fargo or one of the other giants. THEY ARE NOT FIT TO OPERATE IN THESE UNITED STATES!

The 1 time late happened in 2011, and since then I get higher interest rates, lower credit scores and denied approvals; and my most infuriating point, this is going to stay on my credit report until 2018!! I have contacted Capital One several times to remove this from my credit report. They give me a run around and tell me how a credit card works and how to use it, as if I don't know this already. I then tell them I know they have the power to remove this from my credit and they play dumb and double talk about how it's out of their control.
I know for a fact that creditors can add and remove anything they want from credit reports, but no, their favorite thing to do is try to prey on people they think don't know their rights. I have had this account for many years and only had 1 payment issue, and this is how they treat their customers. Since they are going to make this sit on my credit until 2018, I am going to file complaints about Capital One in every way I can legally find, I refuse to let this go.
