I've been waiting all month long to receive my new credit cards. I've been with Applied bank for 3 years and have always made my payments on time. I have been contacting customer service since the beginning of May asking when will I receive my cards and they say "you'll receive them 2 weeks before the month is up." I contact them on May 15 stating that I still have yet to receive my cards. They go "you have returned mail and we need your new address." I tell them my address has never changed, I never changed it, and I get my bank statement every month from them. They say "oh no problem it must be an error and we will correct it."
Today is May 29 and I receive a letter in the mail stating that since I changed address they are unable to process my request and send out my new cards until I send in current bank statements, gov't issued ID, and a utility bill. At this point I am beyond frustrated and upset. I call them and tell them the same thing and this lady tells me there's nothing they can do because the card system is animated and basically it's my fault. But how is it my fault when I still have the same address for years and it’s my own money you’re holding!!!
So now I'm waiting on a call from the bank which can take 3 to 4 days. And my card expires in 2 days which means I can't rent a car or book a hotel room or anything. Their company is truly a scam and they have no respect for elite customers. This is such an inconvenience and I would never recommend this bank to my closest enemy.

This credit card is pretty pathetic. It is impossible to access any credit card activity prior to six months, and actually one of the six prior months is "currently unavailable for viewing please check back later". I've been getting this message for three days. This inability to view last year's activity for income tax purposes makes this card useless for a business. Real credit cards (Citibank, Chase for example) organize and categorize prior activity. Doesn't Applied have computers? What a joke!

This is the most horrible bank/credit card company I've EVER had to deal with. I have been with them for 2 years....even though my account reflects one year. I opened the account in the beginning of 2013. The only reason I opened the account was because I was building credit. It was secured by $200. I've NEVER been late once on this account. Not once. I have had a perfect account. I go online to check my account, as I do with all my accounts every few days... and there is a balance of $50.50. It’s not my charge. I look over the account trying to find out where that money is coming from. I can't find ANYTHING.
So I called Applied Bank on the week of February 9, 2015. I got a guy who was decent. He told me that the $50.50 was an annual fee. Um, No. I’m not paying that. So I gave him the reasons I'm refusing to pay, and he agrees to note the account. Then he asks me to send a "letter" explaining to them why I won't pay the $50.50. Ummmm, that’s weird. I told him so. Why should I do all this work to have this fee removed. Bottom line, I did everything they wanted. I waited the 7-10 business days for this fee to be removed, and it’s not. The bill is due on 3/3 and today is 2/25!!!
So, I call at around 10:45am this morning. Got this rude man, you can tell he hates his job. I don't blame him. I was a Customer Service Rep for 14 years. I would have been fired for talking to a customer the way this man talked to me. I started out very polite with him, until he advised me that they were NOT removing the annual fee. He didn't even seem sorry, almost triumphant!! Seriously!!! So, I became more aggressive. I threatened to close my account. This guy had the nerve to say, "Well, that’s your choice, but you will get your money back (secured account) minus the balance of $50.50 and this will negatively impact your credit." Almost like a threat. I could NOT believe I was being spoken to like this.
A perfect customer, with a perfect account. I asked for his manager.......after 5 minutes, he passes me to a woman who is just as bad as he was. I doubt she was a supervisor, but her name was Nancy (right, like I believe that) and she claimed her operator number is "**". RIGHT. She too, refused to give me a one time courtesy adjustment of the annual fee of $50.50. When I told her how her rep treated me, she told me she was sorry I felt upset by his treatment. What??!!! Is she serious!!??
I called their bluff.....I closed the account. They WILL deduct the $50.50 from my security, but what am I going to do??? Stay with them??? Nope. See ya!!! ANYBODY WHO IS THINKING OF REBUILDING THEIR CREDIT HERE, STAY AWAY!!!! I was with these people for over 2 years with a perfect account and this is how they treated me. I don't even have secured cards anymore. I left this account open because it was my oldest line of credit. I have regular credit cards now with a decent credit score...... APPLIED BANK doesn't care about their customers. STAY AWAY. BEWARE!!!

Their monthly maintenance fee is $15 which is ridiculous! If you forget to make a payment or have an emergency and cannot pay it, they do not waive fees (even as a one time courtesy like most banks). There were many times when I did not receive a letter, my bill is never consistent, their website is not user friendly, and I have to ask for them to send me a card when it is expired (most banks just send it). Because of all of the fees, I feel like I can never pay off my bill and I haven't used my card in FOREVER!!!

I have had this card for nearly 2 yrs and I have had very bad customer service from this bank... I have faithfully made payments on time and I actually noticed today that they added a 10.95 payment fee to my account even though I added it to my payment when I made it... They also reported me 30 days I made a payment that was not the minimum amount. I was told that if I made that payment it would not be reported but it was... I disputed that with the FTC and now applied bank is not even in my credit report at this time... This bank is terrible outrageous fees & bad customer service.

Everything you have read here is accurate. I have had a Applied Bank Business credit card for 2+ years. Started with $500 limit and eventually got it to $1100. Was charged $100 fee each time it was raised. Always paid off the balance each month and was charged $10.95 to actually PAY my bill. A $9.95 account maintenance fee and 24.95% APR monthly. It will cost you over $30.00 a month just to keep this card in your wallet or purse even if you DO NOT USE IT!! Do not get this card. Try Continental Finance, or even Capitol One secured. They raised my limit within 6 months from $200 to $750 and didn't charge me a dime. Applied Bank is a version of the modern day "loan shark". I have closed my account and await to see if additional fees are imposed. I will update and investigate if it does.

Applied Bank has terrible customer service. They are closed weekends. It is incredibly difficult to get a live person anyways. They will hold your money for up to two weeks after the merchant releases a hold. This process is normally a few days with real credit card issuers. They will assess a penalty and not allow you to use your card for if you are more than several days late, and they take forever to process payments. What a disgusting "bank". Why are they not accountable for their strong-arm tactics??

Applied Bank is basically a "Leach." Once they get their hooks into you, getting out is very, very difficult. I've had an Applied Bank card now for several years. I mostly used their internet site to pay my monthly bills. They say ignorance is no excuse but I never realized that their interest rate was over 29%. I must have been desperate taking out this card. For every dollar you pay them, they take .30 cents.
Realizing how stupid I was, I have been trying to pay off this card, tearing it up and being done with them. Not so easy. I recently made a substantial payment online using my checking account information. It was not posted for nine days. I incurred a late charge and called. It was very difficult to get a "live" person at Applied Bank but when I did, I asked to speak with a supervisor. It took some doing but I eventually spoke to a so called "Supervisor." He made a three way call to the bank I used for the check payment, which by the way, Applied Bank put through as an ACH transaction and it had cleared the day after I made the payment to Applied Bank as a "Miscellaneous Debit." The supervisor verified that, in fact, Applied Bank received the funds and credited my account and reversed late charges. The supervisor told me had he not called it would have taken another nine days to credit my account. He also had to "unfreeze" my online banking with Applied Bank because I had set up another payment, which I stopped, in case for some reason it was not received by Applied Bank. I then received a $26.00 stop payment fee as well.
My Motto is: "Don't Get Mad, Get Even." I filed a written complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and am awaiting a response from them. They give 15 days to Applied Bank to respond. While I realize I probably will not get the satisfaction I really want, I will now file a complaint in a Class Action Suit with an Attorney that deals with Consumer Protection Advocacy. Oh, and by the way, beware of an offer from Applied Bank to increase your credit limit by $300.00. They take $100.00 of that as a service fee and in essence you get $200.00 and an increased liability to your account.

I called and requested from customer service a copy of my agreement (and told them I would NO LONGER need their services, only to receive a bill later) and was told it'll take up to 10 days. Never received the info requested.

When I applied for the secured card, I was supposed to be able to switch it to an unsecured card after making on time payments after a certain length of time. Good way to build up credit or so I thought. I've requested they switch it to an unsecured account and they have refused saying they NEVER DO THAT. So my $500.00 is stuck in an account that they are making interest on. I pay the card off faithfully every month, some months I don't even use it. I cannot get a higher limit either unless I deposit more money. What??? I cannot close the account without having it adversely affect my credit score and I want to buy a house. Do not fall for these scammers. So far I'm not paying any interest or fees, except the annual one. Also their website sucks as far as resetting your password information. Unlike legitimate credit card companies, they only work normal Monday - Friday business hours.

Now my account is frozen, can't make online payments. I sent a bank wire and they still haven't posted it and my bank says the money is sitting there not being posted. Applied Bank states I opened a cc back several years ago. After fighting them for YEARS, and sending fraud affidavits they "never received" by mail, fax or otherwise, they refused to acknowledge that maybe just maybe I did NOT open the account. Where I went wrong: IN 2006 when I first got a mailing of a bill: I called them. They said "Verify your SSN" and my dumb butt gave it to them. The rep said "That's not what we have" and then PROCEEDED TO CHANGE IT IN THEIR SYSTEM TO MATCH! That is ILLEGAL! If the info doesn't match, then OBVIOUSLY it's NOT mine!
They also changed my name in the system to reflect the correct spellings of first and last names. That was the start of my nightmare. I know now, NOT to "give" anything to anyone as "confirmation" because they can change the info and try to collect from you! After several months, I ended up filing a police report. They can't do anything because I didn't know who could have opened this card and it was out of state (I believe MD or DE or somewhere is where they are located). So, not much I could do. I would fill out and fax/mail affidavits over the years with 2 things happening: NO response and then any inquiries I made "We didn't get it".
Apparently, how this card was supposedly applied for was "BY PHONE" Seriously? No signatures? No verification? How the heck could someone just open a card by phone with NO supporting documentation? Not to mention obviously, the bill that came in my name was not correctly spelled and then they tell me the info I gave them was incorrect. Hmmm... BIG HINT people? THEN, after so long fighting them I gave it up and told them NEVER to contact me again and have not heard from them since. I disputed with credit bureaus, but when you do disputes online, they don't really do anything. So we get to this year, and I see these people are STILL showing on my credit report, BUT that it is schedule to fall off August 2013. The Statute of Limitations in CO is 6 years and we are at 7 years, thankfully.
So, what do you think they do RIGHT as I am getting ready to get a mortgage and wrote a statement of "NOT MY ACCOUNT" but was told NOT to place any disputes on my credit reports especially since its schedule to fall off? These people SELL it off to a collector and tell them to CONTACT ME. Of course, I didn't recognize an 800 # so I called it back thinking maybe it was one of those insurance quotes I was trying to get. Nope! It's the collection agency trying to get me to pay the "balance" they allege is owed. OF COURSE, I refused, told them "You know you're not supposed to contact me per FCRA about this alleged balance owed, this account was never mine and NO I will NOT make ANY payment and what makes you think I will after NEVER making ONE payment EVER. And I also know that the statute is up and I also know what you're all trying to do! Get your "alleged" money right as it is to fall off so you can start the statute all over and continue to report!" Are we KIDDING!? I told them Friday NOT TO CONTACT ME AGAIN!
Today is what, Tuesday? And guess who called?! I have them programmed into my phone as "APPLIED BANK SCAMMERS" so they can't deny they have YET AGAIN violated FCRA and CONTACTED me after Friday telling me they would take me off the list and NEVER contact me again and they would tell Applied Card they were asked not to contact me again! WTH!? Do these people not realize that they are violating all kinds of laws? Obviously, this will fall off because I REFUSE to make ANY payment, even a dime, on a balance that does not belong to me paying it acknowledges the debt and that's not right.
I have heard that sometimes, right before something is scheduled to come off the report, the creditors try to collect one last time and if we refuse to pay, then they will pay the collection agency to make a payment "on my behalf" Well, I'll tell you this, if that happens, they will get SUED because this is WRONG and ILLEGAL. I can't say that they will do this but it's awfully suspicious after a no contact request that they've honored all these years being violated now right at this time that they are up to something. I'll update if they do try anything else. So Applied Bank will not get paid: WHY? NOT MY BALANCE.

It has happened three months in a row. When I first applied for Applied Bank, the website looked promising. The highest rated bank in America, you say? Wow! Sounds great. But I know I won't get approved. "But hey, I need cash and it's better than a payday loan so why not?" I thought. I got approved for the business credit card with a limit of $350. Well, not really... After the opening account fees and such, my limit was only $225. I cash advanced that at my local Chase Bank and used it for my bill, gladly thinking of that low payment I'm going to have :).
Well I couldn't have been more wrong. I used exactly $225, not a penny more. Then they charged the $9.95 monthly maintenance fee, as well as the interest and even know both are bs fees. I expected them and didn't worry. But then, because THEIR FEE caused the account to go over limit technically, I guess, they charged a whopping $35 fee. That's on top of the $9.95 monthly fee and the interest, which caused me over 50 bucks over limit and a $70 (MINIMUM!) payment.
I was devastated because I couldn't afford it. So I thought, "Well, maybe I won't pay." Well, if I don't pay, my interest goes from 23% to 29.99% plus the $35 late fee on top of everything. So I decided to take the little amount of money I had left to pay it. I decided to pay it on the automated system to prevent a fee as most people do. Instead, I got $11.95 charged with my payment for pressing buttons to a computer system. So the amount charged to my bank was just over 80 bucks! And my available credit was about 15 bucks or so - I can't remember. I again spent money on the card without thinking. And the same thing happened so I called the company thinking they must have a one-time courtesy for removing a fee.
They told me that because my account is over limit, they can't discuss removing a fee so I pay my 70 bucks and they'll "think about" removing my over limit fee. So I did. I called back; they said they'd let a manager know. Expecting my account to have available credit soon, I watched it and nothing came. I called and they said the manager reviewed it and said that it's a valid fee. I demanded to talk to a manager and waited more than 20 min. for one. A manager never came and I just hung up in anger and unsatisfaction. The customer service rep I talked to originally, I could not understand.
In conclusion: This company is money stealing **! Stay away! If you have so much money and you're apparently highly rated (Rich), then hire some decent customer service reps. And if you're going to change outrageous fees, FINE! But at least treat your customer right and waive one every once and a while. That's how you keep a customer paying. All you do is keep the customer mad and squeeze every little penny you can get out of each and every person you lend to. In my last words, I say, APPLIED BANK ** OFF!

I had no choice but to file for bankruptcy. In an attempt to rebuild my credit, I applied for several credit cards. I was approved by Applied Bank and had a $350 credit limit. I activated the card and used it one time for a cash advance. When I received my first statement, the annual fee, activation fee, cash advance fee, and interest cost me nearly $250 and drove me $1 over my credit limit, in which I was charged a $35 over-limit fee. I tried to dispute and they refused but said that I could close my account. I closed the account, but they said in order to get an accurate payoff, I would make a payment over the phone at a cost of $29. Otherwise, interest charges will continue. I made my first payment in a timely manner, and they said that they did not receive it by the due date and I was charged a $35 late fee.
It's impossible to get a customer service rep on the line, and the first two I talked to hung up on me for no reason. The third was very helpful and gave me a fax number to send my proof of payment for a payment dispute, but the number continues to reject my fax. I know finishing this off is going to be a nightmare, and my attempt to fix my credit will end up costing me over $500 in fees alone. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GET THIS CARD!

I share in everyone's comment(s) regarding these SOBs - (putting it lightly!!). I suggest you go online and report their tactics to the State & US Regulatory Commission - (US and State agency that will bring civil and potential criminal charges of consumer fraud against this company and their responsible management). I filed a complaint last week. It's very important that they recognize that they are required to provide the/a consumer a "Disclosure of Fees" outlined in an Account Agreement. If you applied for and received this card, they MUST provide you this information. I never received this information and am in the process of legally doing anything and everything necessary to ensure this bank's tactics come to an end. Talking with Applied Bank has proven in vain.

Our last big transaction was for a month's rental from Budget Car Rentals for which our total was $694. This payment wasn't a problem for us because we made routine payments weekly via Western Union payment method. From the dates in question, the available amount we currently have in the account is not adding up and each representative we speak with gives us a different answer. When I reached out to the department and questioned my online statement, the following day, my statement was removed.
Last Friday, we spoke with a rep who told us that he saw in the system that credit was due to us and that we would be reimbursed on Saturday. On Saturday, there were no funds allotted to the account and the customer service for Applied Bank was not open (it's not open on a Sat. or Sun.). The rental company put an authorization on anyway! I had the rental company call the credit card department of Applied Bank to take it off. They sent a fax over to have the authorization taken off twice and also called Applied customer service twice. I was told by Applied Bank that all authorizations would have to stay on the Applied credit card for 14 days, even if the authorization was put on in error.
Normally, if a merchant notifies a credit card company the charge was done in error, it will be removed immediately, not with Applied Credit Card. The normal authorization takes 3 to 5 days to drop off, not with Applied Bank. They are not looking out for their customer. There is no excuse to hold a customer's funds for 14 days. Why? So, if your Applied Card is charged in error, you have to wait 14 days to have access to your money again. The first opportunity I get, I will drop Applied Bank. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they will tell you none is available. They have very poor customer service. They do not care about their customers.

My credit limit is $500. I had a balance of $499 as of my on time payment in Jan. 2013. I did not use the card at all during the next billing cycle. Then they called me 3 times on the weekend to inform me that I was now $110 over my credit limit. I looked up the laws of the 2009 credit card reform that President Obama put into effect. Applied Bank is not following the law. The law states that an over the limit fee cannot exceed $25 yet Applied charges $35. They also charged me an inactivity fee which is also illegal under that new law. They also use their monthly service fee to put you over your limit so they can charge you $35. The woman who called me was quite rude and spoke in such an Arabic accent I could hardly understand her.
I am searching desperately for another card to absorb my balance and cease to do business with Applied. They rig your account so you can never get it paid off. Somebody needs to take action against them. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, and I am filing a complaint on this site. Applied has 276 complaints against them for the exact same thing I have experienced.

If it wouldn't ding my credit cancelling the account, I'd cancel in a heartbeat. Their customer service agents are nearly impossible to contact. I didn't know about the monthly fee on the card. It was most likely in the fine print though. But the worst offense is I pay my balance off monthly and they hold the funds for nearly a week before I can utilize them. I never received an order confirmation from the company nor was I able to get in touch with them for 10 days. I called their number and no answer was given. I tried to log in into my account to review the order or submit a help request and my account was invalid. To make a long story short, the company is fraudulent. I called Applied Bank customer service to submit a dispute and was informed it would take 7 to 10 days to resolve the issue and a credit would be issued after that.
I called Applied Bank customer service after 10 days to ask for a resolution and they informed me that it was still in the "back log" and that they would get to it in the order it was received, and would issue a decision within 30 days. I called after 30 days and I was informed that the issue is still under review and that it would take up to 90 days to resolve. I have never had a dispute take that long even though I have had something similar happen to me before. This is a horrible company with terrible customer service and horrendous internal controls, policies and procedures. I promptly requested my account to be closed and my money returned. Your limit is what you let them hold, so it's $200. I pay it twice a month. If you use more than a hundred, it hurts your credit (more than fifty percent of the balance) but I pay it in full twice a month so they show I paid it but there is no credit to the account for ten days. And they say they received it three days after an electronic transfer. So thirteen days after I pay a card balance, I got a credit on my account on a ** two hundred dollar card that they already have two hundred of my money and not only can I not use my money, but they report a balance that has been paid. After review with a rep from a credit counselor, they pointed out where the account number changed and therefore had to be different. I immediately contacted the company trying to get them to tell me where this account came from. Customer Service is the complete opposite. The customer has nothing to do with the service that they don't even try to supply. I have contacted the credit bureaus several times to advise them that not only did I not have knowledge of the account, but that I already had an account with them and had never used this other account or signed or received a card for this other account otherwise I would have returned it. They stated that they verified the account, which obviously they would be able to but upon further investigation, they would see that I had nothing to do with this account.
I have begun contacting the FCC, the BBB and anyone that I could think of in the hopes of getting this cleared up. Basically, this scam of a company is saying that I could get a credit card and add someone on my account that I don't know, put their information on it and it could potentially destroy them. Have they never heard of identity theft, hello!
As of today the 14th day of May, this item is still showing on my credit report and I have received no credible explanation for this item being linked to me in any way. Americans are under the impression, for some reason, that the Better Business Bureau is a government entity which keeps track of businesses for the safety of the consumer. In fact, the BBB is paid by the companies for good ratings and makes all profits from these businesses, none from the consumer, so you can see why many of these ratings are false, or at the least, lean towards favorable ratings for the companies.
This so-called bank (Applied Bank) can not seem to process any transaction for the record, even with full collateral. In fact, they have every conceivable excuse of why they can not complete a transaction, but none are legitimate. When you apply for an account, they ACH your funds right away, but good luck getting your money back, even if you cancel the account. For me, once they took the funds from my checking account, there was no justifiable reason for why it would take months to get the account (secured credit card) set up. I didn't even have bad credit, I just don't trust the credit card industry so I figured, "what could go wrong with a 100% secured card?"
With Applied Bank, everything. They claim that it is a long drawn out process to get your account set up and the credit card issued for all of their customers. And that's after they have your deposit and have had it for quite some time. There is no place in the written policy which expresses this.

Let me start by saying that this account is new. Since the opening of this account, all payments have been made prior to due dates and paid in full. One payment was returned in the amount of $125.00 due to a processing issue on my bank's end. However, the payment cleared within a day of it being returned. Also, at the same time, a payment of $400.18 was made and cleared immediately. So, I checked my account and it reflects a current balance but the credit availability is $125.00 overdrawn.
I called Customer Service to inquire. I was told that since I had one payment of $125.00 returned, a hold was placed on my funds for 10 to 14 days. I explained to them that it wouldn't work for me since I had an emergency that involved a sick child. I explained that the funds have cleared and that my bank can and will verify that information. One customer service rep was just rude. Another thought it was funny. I was asked for my bank's phone number. I gave it to them and was put on hold for about 10 minutes. The rep returned and said that a supervisor will call me back. When I asked how long, the answer was, "I'm not sure."
I then proceeded to call the corporate offices. There was some back and forth. A supervisor finally did call me back to tell me that they can't release the funds due to the one returned item. When asked if I could have my bank send over verification of payment, I was told no. When asked if they would be willing to conference in the bank via phone, I was told no. Then, I was told that if I want my credit/funds available to me within 48 to 72 hours, I would need to make a payment via guaranteed funds (e.g. debit card, Western Union or MoneyGram).
I finally contacted corporate offices. Again, I was very irate and was transferred to the Asst. V.P. of Customer Service. In short, after explaining my circumstances to her, she did go above and beyond to assist me. Not only was she pleasant, she was understanding. First, I want to say that I understand that Applied Bank is in the business of helping people with bad credit. I have had my account with them for about 4 years. I have always been a good customer and made my payments on time. (so much so that they have increased my credit limit multiple times). Last year in August (2009), my husband lost his job due to lay-off and department shutdown. Due to our situation, I suddenly found that my salary wasn't enough to keep us ahead. I called my 4 credit card companies (one of which was Applied) and requested some assistance in attempting to prevent falling too far behind.
All of my other credit cards were very courteous, helpful, and understanding except Applied Bank. I ended up having to move due to the cost of living in the state where we were. I requested after falling behind 2 months of a way to get "current" with Applied. I was also told about a "re-aging" program that would "help" me. I did this program and paid nearly $700 to get my account current and actually $300+ below my credit limit. It was at this point that I was dismayed to find out that the card was showing "closed." I called Applied and was told that "you would have received a letter that it was to be closed." I explained that not only did I not receive a letter, but I was not informed of such when I was "offered" to get my account current through re-aging, fix my credit report, and avoid further fees. ($35 late fees, $35 over the limit, in addition to the 29.9% interest).
I decided that I would spend the 50% of my paychecks that I had been giving to Applied Bank to give to my other credit cards which had been more than understanding in working with me during the very hard time in our home. This was in June 2010. It is now October and my balance has again gone from approx $1450 to $2100+ since I stopped paying on my Applied Bank card.
I received on average approximately 15-20 calls per day from Applied customer service/collections. Sometimes less than 5 minutes apart. I spoke with them today because I realized I was simply increasing the amount that they would get from me and once again have been offered the re-aging program. By the way, it does no good to write to them to request the waiver of fee. I did this also after falling behind the first month and explained the hardship my family was in and was sent a denial letter with no regard what-so-ever about what I had put in my letter. If you go through a problem, do not accept an offer with Applied Bank, you may only find yourself in a worse situation than you were in when they gave you their "un-refusable offer."

In short, I have been an applied card customer since ~2005. My account was closed in June due to some life circumstances: I was working at sea in April so I had a late payment, my account was then ~$50 delinquent when I made my normal payment amount 3 days late in April. I was unaware of this. I had a qualifying exam for my PhD exam the first week of June and my wedding was June 19th. I had tried to make phone payments during this time (as I had not received a current statement) and could never reach them because they operate on east coast time and I live in California.
When I returned from my honeymoon, I called to make a payment and was informed that my account was 33 days past due and had been closed. I then requested to talk to several supervisors and eventually spoke with Dan F. about the possibility of re-opening the account, he said he would investigate, several weeks later he left a message stating the account could not be re-opened. By this time, I was at sea again and then had to come in from sea 2 days early to fly back to Michigan with my husband for a family medical emergency.
We have now returned to CA and again today I called to try to make a payment in order to at least clear my negative credit reporting and they were "unable" to generate anything in writing that would acknowledge my negative credit reporting be cleared prior to making a payment. (Although in my opinion nothing should have been reported in the first place given that this circumstance should all be recorded in my file). After disconnecting from the customer service line and making certain all this was annotated. I called and left a message with Dan (of course the office was closed). I believe this companies business practices are illegal and morally reprehensible and they should be held accountable for their actions. Negative credit reporting and inflated charges to our debt.

In today's economic downturn, I am already having a very difficult time surviving without destroying my credit score as it is already. With the increased fees and interest rate to 29.99%, the ability to lower my balance due is near impossible!
How is this legal? How can they just do whatever they want with my credit history and amount that they "want" to charge me when I've never done anything wrong on my account? I called today and asked if I cancelled my card if the $15 monthly fee would stop and they said "No, as long as I have a balance due and owing, I have to pay the incredibly high interest rate and maintenance fees."

Applied Bank made changes to my account without sending me any written notice or even a phone call. All my other credit cards always send written notice of any changes to my credit card accounts. I thought by law they were required to send written notice of any changes 30 days prior to said changes being made?

On October 7, 2009, I received a letter from CBCS (the collection agency for Applied Bank). The letter states exactly, "Your past due account has been placed with this office for payment. We have been authorized to offer you a settlement on this account if you agree to pay 40% of the current balance as indicated above. To take advantage of this offer, please send payment to our office."
I paid them the 40% settlement offer amount on 10/30/2009. I checked my credit report for any change in February 2010 and saw no update. I called CBCS who stated that they only pass on the payment information. They do not update reports and I need to contact Applied Bank.
I then called Applied Bank. This account had no activity on my reports until my call. I spoke to a representative who forwarded my request to the recovery department. And for this effort, these things happened to me.
My report has been updated to say that a partial settlement amount was received but not the entire balance and therefore, I still deserved derogatory marks. In fact, after my call, I have received 3 derogatory marks hurting my credit score as a result.
I called again and spoke to a rep named ** who told me that since I have not paid the balance, my credit reports will continue to receive derogatory marks. I paid them as requested and in accordance to their cleverly worded letter, which says they want to settle my account with me if I pay them 40% of the balance, which I did.
In return, I received nothing. In fact, I was penalized for paying them as they requested. I feel that this is theft and corporate tricks. My credit reports have been damaged as a result. Rather than helping my reports, they have been marked with additional derogatory marks saying that the account continues to be in default.
I paid a settlement amount per their request in their letters. They wanted to settle this account and as a result I have continued to get hit as well as the fact that they took my money to do so!

I must have lost my mind when I applied for and used an Applied Bank Credit Card. Between the interest-29% and the monthly fee of $16 dollars, I am paying almost 60% interests on a 600 dollar outstanding balance. I contacted them to ask for an interest and monthly fee deduction. They rudely turned me down and then sent me a letter telling me to contact a Credit Counseling Agency and that they would work with them! No thanks!
I will pay these guys off and be done with their predatory lending. I will never deal with Applied Bank again and I hope that you don't.

I had an account with this company in 2004 and requested it closed in 2005. My secured money ($500.00) was enough to cover charges of approximately $340.00. Applied bank acknowledged my request and would issue a refund. In 2009 while reviewing my credit report, the account was in collection for $1,157.00. NARS, collection agency, arranged a settlement of $575.00. I requested applied bank to submit a delete letter since I went above and beyond to meet them half-way on this account. I am continuously transferred to an out of country office and language is a continual barrier. Even after having the release letter from the collection agency for 60 days, applied bank still reported a balance due. If my original request was honored, I would not be in this situation with this company.

We have had a secured credit card with Applied Bank for a little over a year now. On March 10, we closed the account and asked that our deposit be returned to us. They told us it would take 30 days for our deposit to be returned, which we were not happy about but accepted and began the wait. When the 30 days was up, we called to see what was going on and if a check had been sent. We were told no, they could not send a check because we had closed our checking account that we had originally opened the account with and they needed verification that that account was closed from the bank. We have gotten that verification and faxed it to Applied Bank.
Now we get a call saying that the letter that we sent them from the bank is not good enough and we need another letter and our final statement showing the withdrawal of the money. We have been very kind, spent hours waiting as they put us on hold as they "review our account" then come back with no information and basically say they are sorry but there is nothing we can do. It has now been 2 months and we still have not seen a dime of our money.
At this point, I am believing we may never see our money again. You are never allowed to talk to a supervisor or manager at Applied Bank. They don't exist there as far as I can tell. The people we have spoken with have all been uneducated idiots. If there is ever a class action against this company, we will be the first in line! I believe this company to be a scam, even the manager at my bank has told me that their request is ridiculous and something sounds fishy.

I canceled the card after my purse was stolen and notified them that I did not have the card and did not make over a $100 worth of purchases, only to be told there was nothing they can do I am responsible for the then $347 amount spent. I did use $197 which I have no problem paying. All I wanted is for it to be corrected. I even had the insurance they recommended but they informed me it was not valid for my situation. Now my balance with them is at $1900 because of all the ridiculous fees they tack on for everything, processing fees, late fees, filing fees, over limit fees.
Now, I am constantly being harassed by call, letters, emails way before and past legal hours on weekends and even holidays. I even tried to set up a payment plan that was suppose to bring my account to good standing which did not happen. They also stated it took a minimum first payment of $35 which they took a total of $197 from my account, not at all what was agreed on. It also overdrew my account and cost me fees from my bank as well as from them. I now have to screen my calls because the people calling will not stop and have had many of them being extremely rude telling me to shut up and listen or just yelling at me. So I no longer answer any correspondences from them.

I sent my monthly Applied Bank Credit Card through my banks automatic bill payment system, as I do ever single month. I scheduled the payment to arrive at Applied Bank a day prior to the due date. My bank sent them a check for $991.42 (the total amount due). Applied Bank held the check for 3 days and then put a block on my card, charged me a late fee and put a hold on the funds (they received a bank check not a personal check) for 10 days. So they have my money plus charge me a ridiculous late fee for funds they have had in their possession since the original due date.
I have always received poor customer service from this company, but this was the final straw for me. The customer service rep was rude, condescending and could have cared less about actually providing any customer service. I will be closing this card. Now, instead of paying $50 a year (annual fee) I am paying $180 a year for all the monthly maintenance fees and then I am paying $83.40 just in fees to be able to pay online.
This is a breech of my original contract. And I now want to cancel the card without paying additional fees and I am told that if I cancel the card, I will incur additional charges as well each month. This is just another way of getting consumer’s money. Then on my billing statement they say if I pay the minimum payment that it will take me 4 years to pay it off. Well, my minimum payment is $59 but underneath that it says if I pay $53 a month, it will take me 3 years to pay it off. Hello, $59 is more than $53. I opened a secured credit card in the amount of $300.00 with Applied Bank in September 2009. I was issued a card in October 2009. I enjoyed using the card. But on December 31, 2009, my card was closed. According to the Customer Service, my account was closed for non-payment. I found this to be inaccurate.
I was then speaking to a Customer Service representative who refused to give her name and said that the account was closed due to the economy and since the account was still new and was past due, the company wanted to cut its losses and close the account. I have never heard of such nonsense with a credit card-issuing company before, so after an hour of back and forth disputing, I agreed the account should be closed and I requested my security deposit back.
The request was made on December 31, 2009, and I was told that the check would be sent out February 2, 2010, as the checks were cut and sent in batches, again this is per the representative. I checked the status of the supposedly mailed check on February 2, 2010, and I was told that the check was sent out to me on January 27, 2010. This was a bit confusing, but I didn't make a fuse as long as I was getting my money returned to me.
Then I was told the amount I would be receiving back was in the amount of $199.48 due to a remaining balance of $101.00. As of date March 9, 2010, I have not received my check.
This organization has been giving me every other excuse in the book but not my check. I have received all correspondence, even a final bill from this establishment but not my check. I have tried to consistently follow up with Customer Service to have a simple $199.42 returned to me, but it seemed all I get is excuses. And now, I was told that before I can be issued another check, they must wait 30 days to see if the other check has been cleared by the bank.
I am not satisfied with this answer and have been placed on hold and given the runaround. I have viewed blogs on the company, and its service. It seems to me that I am not the only one complaining about the same issue. I have enclosed this information for their review, and in addition, I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission and the State of California Attorney General.
My next move will be to consult with an attorney for assistance in recoupment of funds that belong to me and any additional court cost and attorney fees. I have been going back and forth with this issue since December 2009; it does not take a legitimate institution 3 months to return payment, even if there's a canceled check in the process.

I have asked to speak to a supervisor, only to be promised that one would return my call, which of course never happened. I feel that this company purposely manipulates customers' accounts in order to make money by charging excess fees.
The company authorized a purchase that was a few dollars over my credit limit and charged me a $32.00 over limit fee. I thought the credit card companies won't authorize a purchase if it's over the credit limit. I also made a payment online through my checking account which was input onto their web page. Unfortunately, I left out one number out of 16 that was on my account that caused a problem with payment on my account.
I caught the mistake the next day, one week before the payment was due. I called the service center to inform them of the mistake. I was told that the electronic check would be processed twice and that I would be charged a fee for the returned check. I asked them to withdraw the electronic check and that I would pay by debit card. I was told that it was too late to do anything about it. This debit was processed on my bank account on that date. After making several telephone calls to Applied Bank to check on the status of my application, I was repeatedly given vague time frame answers-- it was what customer service representatives give customers when they are too lazy or not well trained.
Yesterday, March 09, 2010, I received the same type of vague answer with respect to the status of my application. Out of frustration with this bank, I requested that the application be cancelled and that my initial $500 deposited be returned to my Bank of America checking account through ACH from which it came initially. I was told that this would take 30 days to process. I objected and requested that it be returned immediately.
Today, I spoke with an supervisor, Darlene id#:FBS, who repeated the same line that the return of my $500 deposit would take 30 days. Again, I protested and requested that it be returned immediately. I would like your assistance in this matter; for it is difficult for me to believe that a state regulatory body with allow such an abusive practice from a chartered bank in your state. Thanks.

I recently put in a few disputes with the BBB, Better Business Bureau. They started taking money out of my bank account without my authorization. I called and asked them why they started doing this and they said that they had authorization from me. I asked them to prove it as I never authorized these transactions and they said that it would take a week to get the taped phone call from India. I waited three weeks and they sent me a letter stating that it was confirmed and that I authorized the transactions.
I called them and sent them certified letters asking for a copy of the tape and they told me that they could not give me a copy of that. I am not sure what the laws are about this but I have a feeling that they could not produce a tape at all. This all happened three months ago. I told them that when this was going on that I would not pay them a dime of my hard earned money if they were not going to work with me resolving this issue. Now, it has been four months and my bill has now doubled in size because of the fees.

When I was charged, my account went over the limit by $1.50. My billing cycle closes on 1/13/10. By then, I had made a payment which lowered my balance (including the monthly fee) well under my limit.
However, I was charged with an over the limit fee of $32.00. I contacted Applied Bank and was told that anytime your account goes over the limit, a fee is charged. I am writing this letter to inform your company of the information that I am preparing for the Indiana attorney general's office. In short, your collectors have been in serious violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of 1993 (hereafter FDCPA). By the way, I am an experienced collector and know this law inside and out. I had a card with Applied Bank. My life partner had a heart attack and I had to pay medical bills for him and got behind. Not proud of it, but it happened. My balance was then $350. After three months of being behind and due to excessive charges by the bank, it was in excess of $500. It was then that I received the bank's letters coded R31 and R51.
In those letters, it stated that if I made three payments in a row, which I made arrangements and did, that my account would be brought current and the delinquency would be removed from my credit. My experience at Chase and Alliance Data taught me the value of such programs and I was glad for the chance. Imagine my dismay when I made the payments on time and was then presented with an even higher bill than I started out with due to further bank charges. In addition, when I checked my credit report, I was shocked to see that my credit reports had not been properly updated and still showed me as being delinquent on all three bureaus. In other words, Applied Bank made no effort to follow through.
Having worked in the industry for years, I called to try to get it straightened out and your operator, in India, refused to help. The quote was, "So what, we got your money. That is all we care about." They refused to give me to a supervisor or to give me a stateside contact. I tried to call in five times. After that, to be honest, I determined that I would pay whomever Applied Bank sold the account to for collections but not one more penny would go to Applied Bank and your Indian operations. After all, we had medical bills. Since that time, I have been subjected to nothing less than electronic harassment from your Indian collection staff. They have called before and after legal calling hours on numerous occasions (an FDCPA violation). I have received upwards of 40 phone calls a day including yesterday, November 18 (an FDCPA violation).
Yesterday, when it got so bad that I actually answered the phone and told the gentleman to stop calling (his name was Ibrahim, by the way), he switched my phone through the entire switchboard and I received 13 messages in the span of 1 minute while still on the phone with him (another FDCPA violation). They have refused to give their name when calling. They have claimed to be Martin **, Martin **, Mark **, Mark **, etc. Your staff can usually, but not always, speak English well but they are still clearly in India. When I told them that I was going to contact the Indiana attorney general, I was told, "Your attorney can't do anything to us." I have asked for a stateside contact on numerous occasions and have always been refused (an FDCPA violation). Three times now they have claimed to be lawyers and needed to switch me to a senior lawyer, who turned out to be a collections supervisor (an FDCPA violation).
Last week, they claimed to be calling from my Congressman's office in Washington, DC and would turn me in for federal charges unless I paid. If they want to try that again on someone else, they really should block the number. When I told the gentleman that I knew he was in India, he started swearing at me in Telegu (one advantage to working with a lot of Indian nationals). When they kept calling one after the other, when I was in a meeting at work, I left the room to answer and told them I was in a meeting and could not talk at that time and ended the call. They started calling back again and again and called more than 40 times in a row within ten minutes while I was in the meeting. As I have to leave the phone on for business purposes, my boss actually told me that if it happened again, that I was in danger of losing my job (an FDCPA violation and legally actionable).
Your collectors have placed my cell number in all three calling fields (home, work, cell) on my record so that they can try to say they haven't called more than the allowed four times per day for any one number (a common but illegal practice). They have created a false account for Mirabelle ** and placed all of my numbers in that record fields as well so that the additional calls did not show up on my record and only stopped when I called them on the practice (an FDCPA violation). In addition, they have used numerous caller ID blocked phone numbers to try to escape tracking for illegal calls, but screwed up as one of their numbers comes through because they forgot to program the final digit into the blocking software. I have confirmed this by answering each of these numbers at one time or another (an FDCPA violation).
I actually demonstrated to several co-workers what happens when I tell your collectors that I cannot talk and end the call. 22 return calls and thirteen voice messages in 5 minutes later, I was told that I should consult an attorney. I am fully aware of the class action lawsuits against your company that have recently been settled in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Is it any wonder that I have determined to not pay this bill? As a matter of fact, I am considering not just turning this over to the Indiana attorney general's office, but also the Federal Trade Commission. I look forward to hearing from your company as to how you will correct this situation. If I do not talk to a stateside contact in the next 30 days, I will forward the necessary forms to the Indiana attorney general's office. I will also contact one of the lawyers in the class action lawsuits.

I had a secured credit card in the amount of $500 with this bank. In October 2009 I closed the account. At the time the account was closed there was a balance of $508.00. The savings account in the amount of $500, which was used to secure the credit card, was applied to the balance of $508, which left a balance of $8 or so I thought. I got a statement in the mail with $15.10 for Avis Rent A Car for charges which occurred 5 months earlier, then Applied Bank added a $32 late charge, $32 over the limit charge (after the account was closed) and then they charged me $50 for renewing the credit card (after the account was closed) and then they added a $32 charge for me disputing the unknown Avis charge, then they added another $32 over the limit fee after the account was closed and there was no limit. Now the balance went from $8 to $170 simply by closing the account!
This Applied Bank will no doubt report this account to the credit bureaus as derogatory, late, over the limit, etc. even though the account was closed. They refuse to remove the $50 annual fee. I called them to ask them to remove the annual fee because the account was closed and tried to come to a settlement agreement on the remaining fees. They refused to do even that. I applied for the card in 2004, paid on time and even paid the account in full over the years. In 2009 my husband was called to serve time in the military (Iraq). He is the sole provider for our family due to my disability. I called in May 2009 to request my husband to be added to be an authorized card user and asked if the company honors the statuary rate of 6%. The rep said the company honors the rate and that she was sending out the form for him to be added. They will change the rate from 30% to 6% and all I have to do is fax or mail the documents with a copy of orders showing his deployment date. So I did what I was told, called back again because I haven't heard anything.
Months and months went by, finally I got a manager to actually speak to me (the reps are good for hanging up and stating their boss is not in the office). She stated she received the documents and they have to approve my husband, but it was in the process of review. So I took it upon myself to fax the documents. Again no response. August 20 I received a letter stating this monthly fee of $15.00, so I closed the account and sent it through the post office overnight. I didn't receive a letter stating they closed my account out, so I called again about my husband being added. Still no progress. I called today, I spoke with a Jim. He said they denied my husband on September 15 due to the account being closed.
I explained why would it take so long for them to deny a cardholder and why did they wait until September to deny him. Jim stated I sent my paperwork in May and they never received the documents. Well if that's true, then why do you have a rejection letter on my husband on September 15? They couldn't get their story right, they couldn't explain why the delay. Their response was that they mailed the letter out several times and I never responded. I have the proof of the letter that I sent to them the first time. I believe they know they made a mistake and just refuse to help my situation.
Now my husband is over in Iraq fighting for our country and they told me there is nothing they could do to help. I guess I'm stuck paying 30% APR rate instead of what the government issues to military family serving in the war, which is a 6% rate for the entire time of deployment. I just want this company to stop taking their consumers' weakness and using it for their company's gain. Please, somebody put a stop to these predators.

Ever since I received my Applied credit card I knew that this company was a little off. I have held this card for several years and have never been able to take advantage of my "insurance" that I pay for every month of pennies on the dollar of my balance. This "insurance" is supposed to protect you during times of unemployment or if you fall sick. From my understanding, they will take over your payments if you ever lose your job or if you cannot afford to make payments.
Of course, I enrolled in this program in order to protect my credit and paid for it willingly every month. A couple of years ago, I needed to take advantage of this program that I pay for. I called Applied Bank and they referred me to another 1-800 number that I needed to call in order to enroll and take advantage. So I called the number, had a brief interview with an agent and they said some documentation would arrive in the mail that I needed to fill out and return to them with a signature. The paperwork never came and I was scrounging up money in order to pay Applied. They called me everyday, several times a day (upwards of 20 starting at home at approximately 8:15 in the morning, sometimes calling me up until 9 pm on both my cellphone and my home phone). When people called to ask for payments, they were rude and yelled at me and made me feel as if this bank was run by the mafia and I was the next hit if I didn't pay.
I continued to call the "Insurance" 800 number to try to get them to take over my payments. However, I could never get enrolled in the service I paid for because I would never receive this paperwork that they said I needed to fill out. Eventually, the fees that they charged me nearly doubled my balance due and I needed to take a loan from friends and family in order to pay them so that they would stop calling me and the harassment would stop. One agent even said that they would cease all of my bank accounts and take what money they needed even if I didn't pay which I know that they can do, but I was trying my best in order to pay, kept in contact with them. So I knew that they probably had no reason to go that far, but the fact that a rep would even have the audacity to say something like that really irked me.
Eventually, I got into better times and was able to keep my payments going and everything was fine. I still never got the paperwork from that "insurance" company and probably racked in hundreds of dollars in fees, but I made it through.
Flash forward to Oct 2008. I get laid off due to downsizing (I worked for a land development company). I had a savings this time and was able to make payments for a while. Then my savings ran out, and I was only living on unemployment checks which as someone with half a brain knows, pretty much after you pay rent and put food in your mouth, there is barely enough left for anything else. So I contacted Applied again, and tried to enroll in this mystery "insurance" plan that I pay for and nothing. Again they said the paperwork would be coming, nothing, no paperwork.
And here we go again. Because I cannot take advantage of a service that is supposed to give me peace of mind because they won't send this paperwork that I need to fill out, I am going to go through this again. I would try to consolidate but as a letter that I received on 09/14/2009 stated, and I quote, "You have probably heard the numerous Radio & Television Advertisements whereby the listener is assured that all their credit card balances owed may be settled for pennies on the dollar. That is not our practice at Applied Bank. We will not work with a debt settlement company and we do not settle for pennies on the dollar." The letter then goes on to tell me that they have a great program to help me get out of my past due status.
I am fully aware that I am past due. I know that my circumstances has caused my paying late and skipping payments because I needed to eat and stay alive. I have already apologized to Applied for my need to eat. But now they are back to the harassment and have tried calling me at all of my past employers' offices to get me on the phone. They call my cellphone so many times a day I need to charge the phone every night due to their calls. They are again calling me at 8:15 every morning. And I am still trying to enroll in my "insurance program" that I pay up to $15.00 a month for and cannot get any one to send me the ** paperwork. They are draining me of life. I have not had a problem like this with any of my other card companies. I have been in touch with them, they are all very nice and cordial, no problems. They are kind and courteous. Applied bank must train their reps in hell because they are all evil and nasty.

Following is just a glimpse of the experience that I continue to go through with Applied Bank. Like many consumers that have posted on this forum and others like it, I was promised this card within two weeks of my cash deposit transfer to Applied Bank. Over 45 days later, I finally got a card.
The stress of it was that like many Americans trying to establish or re-establish credit, I don't have a large income. So the card is used for day-to-day expenses and bills that must be paid on time. I happened to be moving during this process, and the card was to be used for moving expenses. I had to delay my move while I waited for the card to arrive. The experience gets worse. I fell behind over the summer and was not able to make the full amount on the card for two months. I have incurred close to $100 in fees per month because of this.
Monthly, I was charged $32 for both a late fee and an over limit fee. That's $62 total plus Finance and Interest chargers. In tandem, I have been receiving upwards of 13 phone calls a day from India, on behalf of Applied Bank demanding payment. I made arrangements in early September to pay the whole amount due - $265 by the end of September and stated I would close the card. The calls still came, again - most commonly 13 times a day!
I called Applied Bank to inform/complain/reiterate my arrangement with them. I spoke with Shauna **. She let me know that I would continue to get the calls unless I, her customer, wrote a Cease and Desist Letter to Applied Bank. I wrote the letter and still get the calls. I have kept a concise log of the calls. I paid the card off today and canceled the account. They have verified that they have the funds. I have zero balance and I am still getting calls! I plan to follow-up with as many agencies that I can.

Now, it is over a thousand, and I can't afford to pay it. I requested several months ago to stop the card, and I would pay it off. They refused unless I pay it all off at once which I can't afford to do. They will still charge me for it like it was active if I shut it down and every month on top of over-the-limit fees and late fees. They are charging me about $25 in account maintenance fees. I am further in debt, and I cannot escape it. And they want to work with me.

I get up to 6 or 7 calls a day asking to speak to a variety of different people whom I have never met. Each time, I've told them to that I do not know this person, and to remove my number from the record. Each time, they say it will be done within 48 hours but the calls continue. I've asked to speak to the supervisor and have asked to have my number purged from the database as I have no connection to the bank at all. Well, they aren't sure what happened, and yes, we have overpaid and are owed the money. You need to write a letter and fax it to the Monetary Controls to get anything done.
We received a check for $36.17 at the end of July. I contacted Applied Card Bank again. They are not sure why the amount is not correct, but someone will be calling me. Well, today August 26, still no phone call. So, I contacted them again. For some reason, we are being charged for collection fees of $412.50! Yesterday, August 18, I received a letter dated August 7 that Applied Card Bank is now dropping the $70 annual fee from their contract with me and replacing it with a $15 per month monthly maintenance fee. They further stated that if I choose not to accept these new fees, I can cancel my account by sending them a letter to a PO Box. Nowhere in the letter to me did they offer to refund any portion of the fee that I paid to Applied Card Bank in good faith just two months ago.
I have spent over two hours on the telephone attempting to contact someone who works for Applied Card Bank. Their customer support line, which their website claims is staffed from 8:00AM to 8:00PM, only connects to a recording, telling me what my account balance and available credit is. Having sent them payments through the mail, I know that they have a habit of letting mail pile up and then process the payments after the payment due date. I was approved for a card by this company and was making payments without a problem until I was medically injured by a doctor. In November 2008, I accepted to a payment plan of $50.00 a month for six months and there would be no finance or late payments on my account. Well, all of a sudden, the amount started going up instead of down. I had called in to move my February payment to make two payments in March because I was diagnosed with breast tumors. They told me it was not a problem to move it and it would not affect my payments.
I indeed kept my payments like I would and paid the $50.00 every month for six months. When I found out they were charging me, they completely lied to me on the phone to where I went and wrote a letter to Customer Care. This has yet to be settled. In July 2009, I spoke with a man (of Indian accent) who told me he would take care of everything and that customer care would be in touch with me.
I went ahead and authorized another payment of $65.95 to be withdrawn from my account. Once again, I still haven't been called by Customer Care and now I am receiving harassing phone calls. A total of 30 calls in four days is just ridiculous. Something needs to be done towards these ** and how they are ripping us all off. Then, I called to make a payment of $320 to zero out my account and re-enable my card. Recently, I tried to use the card, and credit was denied. Their website says that I still owe $233. There are no charges on my statement to justify a payment due of that amount.
I tried to call, and I can only get an automated system. I do not owe this money. There is nothing on my statement to reflect my current balance. I waited two weeks after receiving their authorized online offer to receive the secured credit card. One day after I had used Money Gram Express to wire funds to this company, there was a problem. Of course, I didn't find this out until after calling three days after the initial transaction to verify receipt of the Money Gram. There was never an account created. The number that was given was not even a number of any account, and it is not a credit card number. It is only a reference number used to match up the incoming funds with a request. Even though you may have been approved for an account, an account is never created (at least for the majority).
There have been some of the outsourced personnel that stated "there was a letter sent to you by mail regarding the problem". I responded, "No bank would send a letter to a customer that something was wrong with their account in this case". I then stated, "how was the company going to reference the account? So far, there was only a transaction of me wiring this company funds". The personnel grieved and I was referred to another. At that time, I requested to process a refund. I was then explained that it would take 30 days to process the refund. At a week later from the initial transaction, I was thinking "Why would a bank need 30 days to process a refund? It's a bank!". So I called back and verified the processing of the refund. This was an excellent conversation because you certainly learn that this company is not a bank!
I explained that my main reason for calling is to have someone explain to me what process is needed that it takes 30 days to process a refund. It was explained that "I would receive a check in the mail". I returned fire and stated "it would never take in person on this planet 30 days to receive an item by mail". I then asked, "now what is the 30 days for when this company is supposed to be a bank?". It was explained that "the processing of the refund would take 30 days, then a check would be mailed out". I stated, "this is great. It went from 30 days to 60 days because it would take 10 business days beyond the 30 days to receive the check provided that something else doesn't become an issue". I then asked, "what kind of check takes a bank 30 days to write and mail?".
There was no response and at that moment, there was no sense in waiting for something that no longer existed. But I did ask this "supervisor" one last question: If an account was never created, where is the money? The supervisor responded "the money is here, we can see it". So I said, "okay, why is this company sitting on my money when a refund was requested?". At that point, the script started over.

I explained to the customer service representative, then her supervisor, then his supervisor, who all explained that none of them have access to my account, and that I'd have to wait 14 days for my money to come back into my account.
I tried to explain to them that these are extraordinary circumstances for me because I have absolutely no access to any funds for the next 5 days other than what I still had on my card, that I couldn't get to work, nor could I purchase food unless they released the hold on my money which was already released and authorized by Hertz. They simply wished me luck not starving and in finding a new job.

I was trying to pay off a credit card. I started a new payment plan with the company Applied Bank card. One of their reps who was just trying to get money told me that if wanted to, I could make my payment ahead of time; that way I would not be late on any payments. I told the lady that I would make a payment over the phone for the month of November. I made another payment in November for the month of December and then, at the end of December, I received a phone call saying you have not made a payment for December. Since I made the payment online, I thought maybe the payment did not go through.
I made an additional payment because it is very difficult to contact Applied Bank and find a rep who speaks English. I made an additional payment in January to find out after receiving another letter from Applied Bank that I was behind on payments and additional late fees had been applied. I contacted Customer Service only to be transferred, hung up on, told someone would call me back, and then told to fax in my dispute. Every rep told me that you cannot make a payment ahead of time. Okay, so I now realize that but, at the time, a rep told me I could, so I did. I am not going to make another payment until Applied Bank stands behind what their service reps tell the customer.
I have talked to several different departments. I faxed two disputes in only to receive a $25 credit which did not cover the amount of fees that have been charged to the card. I never received an answer to the 2nd dispute. None of the questions were answered. Another rep called again only wanting money and making promises that do not happen. This rep told me that if I made a payment over the phone, my monthly payment would be lowered to what it originally was, under $40. Did that happen? No! The amount due is now higher than before I started making all of the payments that total around $400.
Every time a rep calls, I explain the situation and I am transferred, hung up, or given a number that doesn't lead anywhere. I recently sent another complaint with a very detailed letter including the rep numbers and wanted a review done of the calls and the promises. I received a letter back just telling me that payments cannot be made a head of time which I have already learned that, but the rep from their company told me they would take the payments ahead of time. Anyway, I had a call from a Collections department from Applied Bank and I explained that I wasn't going to make a payment until the points in my letter were taken into consideration. This department transferred me to the Customer Service department.
The Customer Service department told me there was nothing they could do and they were sorry I was misinformed. I told her no, that is not the way a company works; they need to stand behind what their employees tell you and they should review the complaint letter and respond to every point as requested. This customer service rep told me a manager would be getting back to me. It has been a week and I haven't received a call from a manager. I have only continued to receive nasty calls from individuals who do not speak English.

I have been getting phone calls from them for the past 8 months. I have been waiting on them to send me something to the tune of a settlement offer, but they have sent me nothing. Today, I get a phone call stating that they have sent me things in the mail, none of which I have received. And they will not stop calling me. I refuse to answer any phone call unless it states clearly that it is about my debt, not some confidential matter. I know that I owe them and I want to settle up, but I can't if they don't tell me what they want from me. If they read this, they need to state clearly their business on my voicemail. I don't want some confidential matter. I want something straight up. I have one other credit card and I am settling up with them now. So if you want to see any money from me, actually send something in the mail. I don't want any horsing around.

It's the same as everyone else. They charged overlimit fees because they add their maintenance fee and finance charge to previous balance before deducting monthly payment. I checked the account on the internet on 4/8/09. In the morning, the balance was $1103.53 with $35 overlimit fee because the credit limit is $1100. I checked again the same day and my balance was $1117.47 because they added the maintenance fee of $10.95 for May, I think. I called and spent 45 minutes on the phone to very rude people. I sent letter via fax the next day and then got on this website and read all the complaints. There has to be some way the government can step in and get this to stop. The bank is a big rip off and will continue cheating us. We need to stick together and keep harassing them as they do us. They referred to me by my last name, not addressing me as Mr. which I thought was very rude and not very professional. Good luck to all and let's get them.

These guys are the worst! I fell upon hard times (my landlord died) and I had to move so I fell behind with my payments by several months. I then received a letter (Form C353) which stated that if I paid the amount due of $322, they would reinstate my ability to use my credit card again and remove any derogatory ratings on my credit report. I borrowed the money and called them which was two days after Christmas and made the payment. I confirmed their promise with the rep that I spoke with and she stated that the letter was, in fact, accurate and she would document this by referencing the Form C353 letter, stating she could see that the letter was sent.
Well, within three days of my payment, I received a form letter from them telling me that my request to reinstate my account was denied. MY REQUEST! It was their offer! I immediately called and when I questioned the letter it was as if I were speaking in an unknown tongue. After total frustration, I asked for a supervisor. I had to call four times because in each instance I was disconnected. When I finally did reach a person who said she was a Supervisor, she told me that I had to send a copy of the letter to them. I was appalled and I asked her if she did not have a record of the letters that were sent out. Here is the good part... She told me her computer was down and PDF files could not be opened so was unable to see the form. What liars!! I hate this company! I got no satisfaction but you can be sure I will call again to see if their computer is up and working. What deceitful practices. They are very dishonest.

We were without power for over a week. My payment was due on the 3rd of September, but because of the storm, I was unable to make it. When I signed on to make my payment, they had already charged me a late fee. I called and explained the situation, but they would not reverse the fee. The matter still has not been resolved and they continue to add late fees even though I continue to make my usual payments. They add each late fee to my minimum payment due. They have reported me to the credit bureaus as being late. They call my house all through the day and night, even though I requested verbally and in writing for them to not do so. I also requested they cancel the card. They have put a hold on it, but continue to add these ridiculous fees. They even called my house on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. They have no respect or scruples.

I have a payment due on the 6th of the month every month. Every month I set up recurring payments to be deducted from my account on the 30th of the month to always pay early. This company charges me $6.95 fee for paying online/then 10.95 monthly maintenance fee and an outrageous annual fee. But to top that off they charge me $35 late fee and over limit fee of $35 after that because they say I didn't pay on the due date. Never have I ever paid early with any credit card agency and had them charge me fees for this saying I'm not paying my bill on time and slamming me with 2 more charges for it even when I have ALWAYS paid more than the minimum due. There is no way to pay this card down from all the fees we incur monthly for paying online and for whatever this maintenance fee of 10.95 a month is for.
I have now closed the card as its damaging me financially having paid thousands of dollars in fees to them and when closing the card they informed us they would continue to charge the 6.95 and the 10.95 plus annual fees as usual.

I have had problems with this card since the very beginning. Financial issues is the only reason I accepted this card even though the red flag ($500 limit, $300 + fee taken off first month just to get this card) should have been enough warning. I have never been able to keep up with monthly charges, almost like they are deliberately trying to get you to go over your limit so they can make outrageous charges. I used this card the FIRST MONTH I got it, nowhere near charging even close to what I understood would be what was left on the card after their first huge fee.
I have MAYBE had the chance to use it once more after that within the first three months or so and never used it to charge again. This was in 2006. It's been overdrawn ever since even with payments made. I get charges that make no sense, fees that are unarguable, and what has seemed in the past like false charges that even seemed to sideswipe A-C-B when brought to their attention. I finally got my account frozen after threatening to join what I noticed was a class action lawsuit in the works I had read about online. Now that I made this agreement with them to set a payment plan. I have kept my promise and paid ON TIME and more than the amount. This opened the flood gates. I get more calls a day than anyone should get in a week since I have made this payment arrangement. Example: 10/14/08 - 8:06am; 9:41am; 11:43am; 6:31pm; 7:16pm; 7:43pm; 8:23pm; 8:29pm
Lucky for me, THAT was a slow day. I have talked to probably every employee that works there and each one is equally as rude and ignorant. They interrupt you repeatedly, repeat themselves even though you explain to them you are not a complete moron and talk to you as if you personally owe them money and never try a solution. On top of that, I have tried EVERY extreme when it has come to me asking for the calls to stop, begging, pleading, yelling, screaming, reasoning. NOTHING works and they let you know they are not going to stop even though you are on a payment plan and living up to your side of the deal. I HATE this card. I'm sick of dealing with them. This is two years too long and they are straight up harassing me. I pray that someone runs across this page before even THINKING of signing up for this card.

I have even been double charged for the service fee when I used the on-line payment option. I have tried to contact them to dispute the charges more than once, but have had an exceptionally hard time getting a real person on the line. Instead, I find a recorded message that just keeps going in circles. I finnally called threi technical support and was able to talk to someone.
At that time I canceled my card and was told I would hear from them in two weeks. I also tried to dispute charges that were added to my account that, once again brought me overlimit and added more charges. I was told that could only be done by my sending a letter and disputing the charges by mail.
