I was approved for a lower than normal limit compared to other cards I have. I was never notified of my interest rate when approved. I found out today when my statement was issued 29.99%! I have great credit and my other cards are less than half that rate with higher limits. I hadn’t made a purchase yet so I called in to cancel the card. It took over 30 minutes for someone to decide they can credit back the yearly fee and close my account. The person I spoke to was MADDENING. Like I’d rather sit at the DMV all day than deal with this. I dodged a bullet canceling my account. If you’re on the fence, DO NOT do business with this company. Customer service is HORRIBLE.

They are cheap and have worst customer service. Got Venture X card used to it for 6 months and the moment I did a relatively bigger purchase by their standard ($5k) they restricted the card without any reason. I have 805-820 credit score with 150k Credit limit in other cards. 5k should be usual for my purchase history but not for Capital cheap credit card number one. DON'T GET IT, THEY ARE CHEAP. Get Chase or Amex instead. I have those and haven't had any issues at all even when making purchases upward of 50-60k.

No accountability. Needed to cancel my flight and hotel due to Hurricane Beryl. Called CapOne day before to cancel and asked TO CANCEL and if they can waive the fee due to hurricane. They contact the hotel to ask for fee waiver and kept my order open, this was a problem since response came days later causing me to lose my entire sum of the trip due to "no show". CapOne are not taking any responsibility of:
2. Keeping the order open although I didn't ask for it and not informing me that no show can inquire full amount of reservation penalty. This is not written anywhere and was not mentioned during any of my calls with them.
3. Not respecting the cancellation policy that sent to me saying in writing that cancelation after July 1st will inquire only a small fraction of the reservation.
Bottom line, multiple mistakes were done by CapOne and 0 accountability. They keep reaching out to the hotel to try to recover funds and it is clear that they do not want to compensate customers out of their own pockets.

I deeply regret booking my trip from Colorado to Europe via Capital One Travel using my rewards from Capital One Venture. The choices were very limited compared to other sites. Perhaps the worst part is that the Capital One Travel website is poorly programmed. Trying to manage the flight generates meaningless errors that seem written by a 12-year-old: 'Oops... something went wrong.'
When I brought this to Capital One Travel's attention, instead of addressing their website issues, they tried to blame my connection (which wasn't the issue; I tried from various devices on unrelated connections). Unable to make simple changes on my own, I was forced to waste a lot of time on the phone with Capital One Travel customer service, which was as unhelpful as their website's error messages. I highly recommend not falling for Capital One Venture rewards card because the "rewards" via Capital One Travel have little to no value. You are better off with a cash rewards card (or Airline specific card) and then booking via working, legitimate platforms. Bad website and even worse customer service. I will never use them again.

I got the Venture x card because I travel a lot. When I first started using it, the hotel rates (through Hopper) were roughly equal to what you would see on Expedia. But after 6 months or so a strange thing started to happen: halfway through my booking, I would get an automated message that my room rate had suddenly increased. At first it was only $10-20 or so, but recently it's been as high as $50. So I started double checking their prices against Expedia and found that for the EXACT SAME BOOKING, Expedia's rates were 30-40% lower!!!! What an absolute scam - nice algo Hopper/Venture X - hoping it comes back to haunt you! I've used Expedia for over $15k in travel now and will continue to move business away from you.

If you use Capital One Travel to book flights using your points DO NOT make any mistakes! I just booked a trip from SFO to Lisbon using Cap One Travel. The flights go through New York and while booked with Air France, it is Delta Airlines who actually does the flying ... this should be a big red flag! If you make a mistake (like I did) then you need to call Cap One Travel and Air France and Delta (and they'll send you back to Cap One!). This will take days! Go ahead, use Cap One Travel - but follow these rules:
2. Triple check the flights - make sure you do not have to change anything later!
3. Create an account on your carrier (eg Air France) and check that they actually have all your flight details correct...
4. Check, re-check and check again within 24 hours so you can cancel everything if you find there's been a mistake.
5. Have patience.
Good luck

I have had Capital One credit cards since 2015. I had 2 consumer and 1 business card with 70,000 in available credit. When my son graduated from college I even recommended he get a capital one card. We both have credit scores of 750, we have never missed a payment and maintain minimal balances. My son sent me a text last week showing they were charging him just under 30% interest!!! That’s 22% above prime. We spoke to someone named Mary who had no interest in helping us and her supervisor Mia who could care less about helping us with a little break on the last interest payment or lower the rate. Their predatory practices are ridiculous so we just paid off and cancelled all 80,000 in credit cards (including my sons) and will spread the word forever how awful this company truly is. I have a Venture card from years ago. I have always paid my balance in full, never late on payments etc. I recently was in grad school so I was unable to pay my balance in full for a few months but I still made the minimum payments. During this time, capital one increased my interest to 29.99% and preyed on my financial hardship. I called to negotiate this rate, and I was on hold for over an hour and spoke to 3 different reps. The third person informed me that if I pay my balance in full I would no longer have interest. I hung up, took out a consolidation loan with low interest, and paid the balance. Fast forward 3 weeks later and I am charged a high interest fee again. I call, and they say they don't believe me that someone said that and I would be charged for 2 months interest on my OLD balance.

Either by way of ignorant customer service reps or complete indifference, the folks at Capital One are helping and enabling fraudsters to steal your money. For a simple $70 fraud charge, Capital One required extensive documentation, photos, screenshots, emails, and faxed copies of non existent purchase orders. I spoke to numerous customer service reps in the fraud department, each one more ignorant and incompetent than the last. Each time they told me that the case would be resolved, they would send an email stating Capital One could not be able to resolve the matter and the case was closed. I closed the account and paid off the card. I'd rather take a hit on my credit report than be on the hook for a much more expensive fraud charge. I'm a civil, kind, and understanding boss but I would have fired several of those Capital One individuals for treating customers with such disregard. Look elsewhere for better customer service in my opinion.

The customer service rep. just kept repeating how it had to do with a virtual card, so they couldn't (wouldn't) do anything about it.
I didn't buy $80 dollars worth of lip gloss and send it to another state, so criminals got ahold of a virtual card and somehow that's my fault. We all know that criminal have their ways of getting credit card numbers and I've never had a credit card company act like it was my fault. I used my business card "to tide me over" until the replacement card came. A week later the business card became corrupted. No credit cards to use! I called Capital One today and found they hadn't even sent the replacements out yet! I asked them to expedite my personal card in overnight mail. They refused. They would mail them out by "express" mail which is 2-3 "business" days from when they actually get put into the mail and then reach me.
It is Wednesday and I expect to see them at the earliest by next Monday! If I were a corporation they would hand deliver the card!! Also, I have concerns about how Capital One is protecting our personal data. Worst credit card company I have ever dealt with. I had two Capital One (C1) credit cards, and had been a customer since 2017. My credit is excellent (E-754, T-756), as was my payment history. Today (11/2/22) I closed both of my accounts because I am extremely dissatisfied with C1's abhorrent excuse for what they call customer service.
I customarily pay my full balance on credit cards to avoid interest charges. Every other credit card I own either gives customers until midnight on the due date or, if the cutoff is earlier, the interest charges are AUTOMATICALLY reversed. That is NOT the case with Capital One. Last month, on top of my automatic minimum payment, I paid the remaining $890.00 balance on the due date. However, C1 has an 8pm ET cutoff for payment, giving West Coast customer's a shorter window to make payments.
When the system advised that my payment was considered late, I called C1 to make sure the interest charges would be reversed. After an hour on the phone, I was transferred to a supervisor. He advised me that C1 realizes their current policy is unfair to customers on the West Coast and that, due to customer complaints, a policy change is planned for the near future. He also informed me that I had a pretty good chance of having the charges reversed because of my account standing and the fact that the minimum due was paid before the cut-off, and only my additional payment was submitted afterward. However, nothing could be done until and if the charges appeared on my next statement.
I called back today and another supervisor informed that, regardless of having been with them for 5+ years, and in spite of the policy change in the near future, they would not reverse the interest charges. When I asked to escalate my complaint, he said I would have to do that via snail-mail. Isn't THAT convenient for C1? This company is NOT customer-centered. They encourage customers to alleviate the company's call volume (overhead expenses) by making payments and profile changes online. They also reduce overhead costs by posting online statements for "customers' convenience."
However, they have a convenient policy to deter customer escalations by not having an online process or even an email address for filing customer complaints. I refuse to line the pockets of Capital One and its company-centered "customer service" when they penalize West Coast customers with a shorter time window for payments. Chase, Discover, and Amex don't treat their customers that way, which is why C1 no longer has my business and their competition does.

I entered all my info including credit card number and was charged immediately. I was then directed by the site over to confirmation of my flights but the system gave me an error message and to please try again. I went through the Capital One Travel once again trying to book my flight. Once again my credit card was charged for the flights then was given another error message and to please try again or call their customer service. I called customer service and a Capital One employee tried to book my flight to no avail but was charged now for the third time on flights Capital One Travel claimed were unavailable.
The low limit card is now maxed out and has been for a couple weeks. I've tried time and again to get these charges off my bill but to no avail. The customer service sees I got no tickets from their site. They keep track of the number of times I've called in and they all say the charges will come off in 7-10 business days but it's been twice that now with the 3 false charges still on my account. I always knew in the back of my mind I would be walking away from this round of credit like I've done a couple times before. We have had an absolutely terrible experience with Capital One Venture card services! We have recently moved to Egypt and before doing so contacted Capital One to notify them and order new cards. Eight days after arriving in the country, Capital One decided that our purchases (normal household purchases, along with the fact that we had ordered new cards) was 'suspicious' and froze not only our Venture cards, but also our personal Capital One account. This AFTER WE HAD NOTIFIED THEM THAT WE WERE MOVING TO EGYPT!
Ah yes, it gets better... We had to contact them on our own dime (MULTIPLE TIMES) from our new Egyptian phone numbers and they REFUSE to use our international numbers. They will only call U.S. numbers, so if you are abroad you are OUT OF LUCK! However, it gets even better... They decide they need more 'verification' of who were and that we weren't fraudulently using our own cards. You see what we had; our U.S. passports, our State of Wyoming Driver's Licenses, letters from the IRS with our address and names, mail from our Insurance company with our names and U.S. address, along with other mail and such, and verbal verification of the purchases was not enough.
They insisted that we track down our SSN cards also (which was unfortunately the one piece of paperwork we didn't have). So... after having family track down those cards and supplying all the above mentioned ID's and banks statements from Capital One (why can't they see this themselves??) They told us, "Okay we will get back to you in 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS." Two weeks later, multiple calls on our own dime (remember, they will not call an international number), emails, and after providing all the necessary documents... We still have locked cards. To sum up my review, for a company that markets itself as a great "travel card" do not use them if you actually travel!

I have enjoyed the Capital One Venture card however, the travel benefit is not worth it. I booked a trip for the first time and due to Covid had to cancel. I received an email from Air Canada that I could be reimbursed for the trip. I spoke with a representative initially and was told they confirmed with Air Canada and it would take 2 billing cycles and be credited to my account. After 2 billing cycles I was ready to reach out to them when I received a call that they had received a full refund from Air Canada and I would need to call and confirm my mailing address (which they have on FILE and used to confirm my identity).
I called and spent over 3 hours on hold before reaching someone. I confirmed my address and was told I needed to speak to someone else and was transferred. After waiting an additional hour, I had to hang up. I have called an additional 2 times and have yet to resolve this and get my refund back. Currently I am close to 1 1/2 hours on hold. I hope they are enjoying my money! I have turned in my remaining miles for credit on my credit card and will most likely cancel my card. I have other cards with better customer service.

I used my Capital One travel points to book a flight. Capital One informed me of changes to My Itinerary. I had to call them to see what the changes were and they don’t answer the phone. You sit on hold forever. The first time I waited on hold for over 5 hours. Hung up, called the next day and waited over 3 hours and finally spoke to someone. A couple days ago I go a notice again to call them because My Itinerary changed, again. I've been on hold now for almost 4 hours. This has to be the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 60 years of life. They have one phone number and NO email to send a message. No place to leave a message so THEY can call me when THEY have time. This is just terrible and not worth the trouble for airline flights.

I've used the Capital One Venture card for many years. Throughout that time I've used travel points to cover past purchases and book a handful of trips, all without major issue. When COVID first hit their customer service was overwhelmed and unable to help. Because my trip was only a few days away, I spent 15 hours on hold over 2 days trying to get my trip canceled. I ultimately did get it canceled (but received no email or confirmation to confirm) and chalked it up to the company doing its best in a bad situation. Fast forward to 2021 and their customer service is still horrible. While trying to rebook using my credited points, I've been transferred to the wrong person multiple times and forced to sit on hold for over an hour each of these times. At this point I am convinced that Capital One does not care about their customers or their personal experiences.

I won't bore you with all of the details however however after 6 hours 23 minutes and 3 phone calls to Capital one travel rewards and 3 calls to American Airlines, my issue was finally resolved. It was CLEARLY Capital One error. It was only resolved because I pushed and told them what I knew could happen. The agent I spoke to JB originally said she was unable to help me further however when I demand it that she contact her help desk and American Airlines all of a sudden my trip began to fall into place. She clearly was not willing to go the extra mile and go to 2nd level support.. I guess it was just too inconvenient for her to do what she is PAID to do in providing EXCELLENT customer service. If management reads this and wants to contact me, I have very detailed notes and you can listen to the "recorded" call.

I had my credit card with Capital One for 15 years, rode the wave up to the Venture card when they came up with it. Although it's not my main spending card anymore, kept in my wallet due to convenience and still use it occasionally; always pay in full; never late once in 15 years. They charged me a $95 membership fee last week, so I called to ask for options to get that taken off. They said no. Although the fee is for the next year, they wouldn't even switch my account to one of their 'free' cards.
Insane they want to charge the full year's membership although I told them I don't need the 2x rewards for $95. Just not worth it for me. They only gave me one option: close the account in 40 days (after they charge the fee) and I can get my $95 back. Great, I will just do that. People have struggled a lot financially during the pandemic, and CapitalOne is squeezing people for membership fees. They should learn how memberships work from Costco, Amazon and the like. Nicely done COF!!!

I thought this was outrageous and found the identical flight on Kayak for $350. I purchased the flight out of pocket.
A few days later I checked the capital one website and found the same flight for on their website for the same $351. When I asked why the flight was not offered the first time i was told the capital one agents are not always able to see the cheapest flight. This is either a scam or total incompetency on their part. Either way is unacceptable. The website sucks and does not show travel credits or history and it takes hours to get any help as they are always experiencing an unusually large volume of calls. I've had a Capital One credit card for a number of years, and have always loved that I could depend on what the statement closing date would be. It let me time my purchases, when I needed to, so that I could pay the entire balance in full each month. This time they did NOT notify customers of their decision to have the closing date now vary each month - not specifically. Instead, it was buried in my monthly statement and I did not notice it - and others did not notice it either. They're touting that my due date won't change - which makes no difference to me. Of course, this first month of their new policy EXTENDED the closing date - right before Christmas and with COVID economic problems - to report, and want payment of, a higher balance than what we're used to.
I've been reading reports of Capital One closing accounts that had been in good standing for years, discontinuing lines of credit, etc without notice - and am wondering if this change is an attempt to force us to pay their high rate of interest? When we've managed our credit properly all along? I'll be moving my current balance elsewhere (whatever's left by the due date) and cut WAY back on using this account. No doubt at some point they'll close my account since they aren't making money on me...

I've had the Capital One Venture Rewards card for about four years now. Recently, I went to make a purchase in the town I live in. For some reason, Capital One flagged the purchase as fraud. However, I called their fraud department right away from the department store. The customer service rep confirmed my identity by asking for the last four digits of my SS# and other personal information. She also sent a code to my cell phone to confirm, which I read back to her. She then said they were having some type of problem, and that although she had confirmed my identity and that the purchase wasn't fraud, she couldn't get her system to remove the fraud code, and so my account was frozen. She then told me that I would need to send in a photo of my ID for the fraud department to review, and then they would take the hold off my card within 7 to 10 days.
So basically, I have a card with an annual fee that I'm paying to use, that has blocked usage for 10 days. I have worked very hard to obtain an 830 credit score and this is how I am rewarded? If I charged up the card and paid the ridiculously high interest rates that they charge which is 16.9% I would not have the exceptional score that I have. But then, I had a horrendous experience with their travel department (causing me to lose over 50,000 miles and they did nothing). I applied for the Venture card literally last night because I saw a great deal on a flight & wanted to complete my booking (also the incentive!). Unfortunately for me, one- they cannot issue me the card number regardless of any security verification I can provide & Two- they cannot expedite my card. Great, right?! More than likely that price won’t be available by the time the card arrives. Had I known, I wouldn’t had ran my credit and applied; as that was the WHOLE purpose of getting the card.
In addition to that, I received an email stating my card would be mailed out within 7-10 business days & “In the meantime, let’s set up your online account if you haven’t already.” For some reason I wasn’t able to add my cell number & was referred to call customer service. As I was explaining this to the rep. she said, "You cannot sign up for the online account until I receive your card in 7-10 business days." I told her it says “IN THE MEANTIME, LETS SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT” not “set up your online account once you’ve received your card in 7-10 business days.”
The rep. repeatedly told me she understands it says that on the email, but she’s telling me now that it cannot be done until I receive the card. IT LITERALLY SAYS IT ON THE EMAIL/IN WRITING THAT I CAN SET IT UP. & again she said very rudely says “Well, I’m telling you now that you can’t.” Okay capital one, so then your email needs major adjustments because that’s FALSE advertisement. None of which were flagged by Capital One, even though 3 of the 4 exceeded $6,000 each, the 4th was $3,240. I notified Capital One within 1 hour of them occurring. The good: Replacement card issued and received Monday late in the day 1/13. The bad: Capital One had approved 4 fraudulent transactions which, when added to my current balance, exceeded my credit limit by $10,000. No one at Capital One could explain how that could happen. It is my belief that the 1st of the 4 transactions which would have exceeded the limit should have been declined as should have all subsequent fraudulent attempts.
Bottom line, even having received a replacement card, there was no available credit to use because of Capital One's approval of those transactions in excess of the limit. 4 calls to them yielded 4 different estimates of when the card would be usable again, all different, but the last fraud rep said the investigation could take 90 days. As of 1/15/2020 the card has been restored to usable with available credit. Main complaint is the inconsistent explanations from both Customer Service and the Fraud Department. They should have been more knowledgeable. Rating is satisfactory in spite of poor customer service rep explanations, the outcome seems satisfactory in terms of timing.

I fought with them for several months, but they ultimately rejected my bank statement. It wasn't until my fiance and his father all got on the phone with me one time that the lady on the phone listened.
Less than a month later, I got hacked and blocked from my accounts again - by the same hacker! And the bank sided with the hacker (and did so for more than a year!) I gave up for a while, got married, and moved into my husband's apartment. Then I tried again. No way. They wanted a utility bill under my name and my IDs updated to show my new name. The second request seemed reasonable. But our utility companies would not change their statements to be under my name.

Accepted the pre-approved application from Capital One Venture Visa group. Shortly after being approved and making one charge their Fraud department called and demanded 3 forms of ID and advised the account completely restricted until documents could be reviewed. No additional information was provided due to their department restricting the card. Email Link was sent for document upload and I made the decision to dig deeper into why a card was issued with a generous limit based on a worthy credit score and Equifax verification was now restricted.
Several calls and long discussions followed. What one finds out on the journey is in spite of having two other Capital One cards underwritten by them, a MasterCard and a Visa with a balance paid on time the Fraud Department will not cross reference any of your history. Demands continued for very personal Government issued documents continued. Social Security and State issued IDs followed by multiply proofs of residence formed the base of their demands.
While traveling through New York on a business trip I made time to appear at the Banking Branch of Capital midtown and provided original copies of two Govt IDs and 2 utility bills confirming my identity and residence. The customer service person called Fraud and they provided a secure Fax number to send the copies to. My card remained restricted for a additional week and I called to get an update on the document review. Surprisingly I learned nothing was considered in my case review after the visit and Fax. The conversation continued over several weeks and demands remained in place for the 3 documents.
Additional conversations advanced us into another Email Link and documents demand before any relief would be available. Documents arrived in their network but rejected due to quality of a water bill. Rescanned it then advanced it to them and another delay was encountered because the water department was closed and could not verify the account. I had to take point on the follow up folks they had the documents knew they would not accept them and made no effort to advise the account was still restricted until we called them and made demands for a update. Latest contact did get some attention and resulted in a call from the Document review team advising in a day we should know what the plan will be. Summery follows....
Marketing stuffs mail boxes with pre-approved letters, sign them up as fast as possible then another department turns on the Welcome to Hell sign, the two won't openly cross talk. They approve accounts using Equifax then ignore the personal information for this type restriction. They allowed charges on the card then froze the account. The document demand is not negotiable. Personal appearances with documents mean nothing, it is not a approved means of proving your identity with the Fraud department but a Email is. They will not cross reference any other active Capital One accounts in their system.
They will not use any of the credit agencies to verify identity after the account is open, but if you run a balance you can bet your interest rate will be adjusted if your credit score changes which means when it benefits them they use them. You can see them looking at you for that very reason if you have access to your credit report. They will tap your rating several times a year just to adjust things. They will accept payments to the account even though it's restricted. They won't provide any credits/refunds or rewards earned while the account is restricted. They won't allow you to close the account, careful if you are offered the option you will loose all rewards earned and points forfeited. On a new card that can add up to 10s of thousands of reward points.
You cannot receive a refund for the 95 dollar annual fee while restricted. They won't provide details of why the account is restricted. The Journey has lasted over 3 months maybe this week the C-One will find peace with itself. The inability to have common sense involved at this point truly makes many question how broken the process at Capital One. One of the largest banks in our financial system should not be this difficult to work with. C-One is not industry leading at the moment and clearly will have to step up if they want quality customers to remain loyal. Wells Fargo's culture and lack of common sense has cost them dearly. Will we wake up soon to find out C-One has followed the same path? Time will tell. What a waste of everyone's time. This card will no longer "be in my wallet".

If I could give no stars or negative stars it would be a better fit for this credit card company. I paid my balance off in full. A day or 2 later I am charged with an additional interest charge. They would not take the charge off the account. I WAS TOLD THAT I ACTUALLY DIDN'T PAY MY ACCOUNT IN FULL EVEN THOUGH MY ACCOUNT WAS STATING THAT I OWED $00 FOR 2 DAYS. Bogus charges for ** rewards. They will be losing a customer and many more over this ridiculousness. Very unsatisfied. My boyfriend had Capital One for a time in his life and warned me about this company. I guess I should've listened.

Took out a cash advance for one day. Paid back the next day plus interest according to representative. Asked him several times if that took care of the cash advance and he assured me it did. Unfortunately, because of a posting issue with my bank it didn't. So I've been accumulating interest in a cash advance. Supervisor said there was nothing he could do it was my fault. I switched to another card with a better rate and finally got rid of Capitol One. I have excellent credit and have never been late with a payment. They really did not do right by me. Do your homework before using any of their services.

I just recently applied for the Capital One credit card. It came very quickly and was extremely easy to apply for. I originally applied online. I am not web wise and it was extreme easy. Within 3 minutes I knew the answer. I also like the fact that there is not a yearly fee for the card.

This is the best credit card I have used. If they see something that doesn't look right I get a message or a phone call. Even though this card has a fee, I am able to get money back. Two points on every $ charged.

Their customer service is the best! I got full refund on airline miles when I had an emergency even though I had no travel insurance. I pay my card off each month. Use all my rewards on airlines, never on anything else.

This credit card is comparable to others that offer similar benefits. One thing that I wish was different, is the ability to pay the balance with a debit card or another credit card as opposed to my checking account being the only payment option.

I had medical coverage and emergency coverage which was a relief for me because I have health problems. The annual fee of $0 is great, the credit limit of $20k is perfect for the high dollars charged each month. The customer service is far superior to ANY that I have utilized. If I needed a new card tomorrow, definitely would obtain the Venture card again.
