The company is not licensed to lend in New York State. It requires a license with DFS for certain loans and lines of credit. They avoided licensure because their lending practices are illegal. This is exactly the type of thing the Attorney General in NY would love to hear about. Basically, most loans this company has done in NYS are void and enforceable.

I called to ask to have my payment pushed back a few days because I was waiting on some invoices from customers and the lady told me they would be charging almost 200 dollars per day on top of what I already owe. Tell me how charging me extra will help when I’m already struggling to pay it as is. Don’t turn to this company for money

Stay away as they are a grab and go company. I did 4 loans with them. All paid in full. Never late. On my last loan someone did fraud. My account locked until fraud was resolved. After 2 weeks I got my new card. I immediately paid the missed payment in full. I also had let them know immediately what happen. They still denied any future loans. I felt the money that was paid was to build a relationship. Instead it was a grab and go. Stay away and look elsewhere. Also a really high pay back.

The previous comments about this company being predators is absolutely the case. I have had some health issues and had to shut down parts of my business, which led to a reduction in income. The only thing I needed from them was to change my loan payments from weekly to monthly so I can have some relief from overdraft fees. They were unable to change anything. It's bad enough they hit me with 50% interest when I was desperate for cash, but then not to work with me when I needed some assistance makes them absolutely awful. The only solution they were pushing me for was to "renew" or refinance. Why in the hell would I refinance if they are unwilling to work with me and pay interest rates that should be illegal?

If I could give zero stars I would. I reached out to them to set up a line of credit prior to me leaving for a 6-week period to recover from surgery to help take the pressure off. They knew why I had taken out the line of credit as well as the date of the surgery and they changed the terms of my account the week I went out on surgery (or at least that is when I noticed them) so that I couldn't withdraw any funds to cover payroll. I tried to set up payments through a second account. There was nowhere to do that in the customer portal and I was informed by customer support they couldn't support payments from multiple accounts and refused to give me even a routing/account number for my line of credit. I had just finished doing all of that with my primary bank, credit card company, mortgage company, and my business' credit card processors in under 30 minutes total without having to speak to a human being. I find their excuse of "Security Protocols" to be a joke.

This is a completely predatorial loan service. Their interest rates are through the roof and hard to calculate. If you make a payment mid-way through the month it still pays on interest instead directly to the principal amount. When you make a payment it takes days to post which means you get hit with more interest so if you try and pay the amount off in full it keeps you making a ton of small payments for the built-up interest that accumulates while your payment posts. It literally won't let you pay it off. It just continues to strong-arm interest out of you. Avoid this lender at all cost. They are also associated/owned by a company called Enova that has a massive amount of class action lawsuits for violating lender regulations and for stealing money out of people's accounts.

Right now, I am in the middle of a big problem with this company. They don’t seem to care about a customer. Long story short right now I am in the middle of speaking with a lawyer because my business wasn’t doing so great last year with this company and I was past due and we had been emailing back-and-forth until we finally came up with a payment arrangement and for some reason, I was also transferred to a senior negotiator which I did not understand and they said that my account was in the charge off status. So I then continued to Make payment arrangements with the senior negotiator, but then I come to find out that this company reported me as a charge off on my TransUnion.

I declined to keep paying them until they remove that from my TransUnion. I sent them a letter to their corporate office and they never responded back to me and I stated in that letter if they could please remove the charge off so that I can continue making these payment arrangements because we were trying to avoid this going into the charge off status since the beginning. I was very compliant in everything they wanted me to do so that I wouldn’t be reported negatively on my credit report. I don’t think this is fair and there litigator Lawyer reached out to me mentioning all these questions to see if they can possibly qualify into getting me into a payment arrangement and that’s not what is going on here.

I was already in a payment arrangement and what I need Ondeck to do is remove that from my TransUnion so that I can continue making payments. So currently, I will be speaking to my lawyer because this is not fair and not a way to treat a customer that is willing to cooperate and has been cooperating and they’re going to go and report me falsely when that was what we were trying to avoid in the first place.

This company has shoddy business practices, and very poor "accounting" processes. During my loan term, I received a fraudulent email from someone claiming to be with OnDeck, and I only caught the fraud because that person was using MY personal cell phone in his signature line as his contact information. I alerted OnDeck - they did nothing.

My business began struggling, and in February 2023, a law firm that misspelled words pertinent to their business, like "summons" contacted me via email, and sent me an agreement to pay the debt off in six months. I accepted, and paid off the loan in July, 2023. I never received proof that the debt was paid, and they never provided proof that they had released any/all UCC liens. Then, 10 months later, I received an email from them that they intended to sue me unless I paid off the balance that I had already paid (I have all receipts and proof of wire transfer payments). Now, no one seems to know those payments were made. I've reported OnDeck to Consumer Protection Financial Services. This company obviously has no regard for personal or business information, allowing it to be compromised, but worse yet, they have no regard for simple accounting practices.

Be VERY WARY of this company! Read the FINE PRINT in their contract(s). On Deck LOVES to sell your personal and business information! They will NOT respond to requests to discontinue doing so. So get ready to be BOMBARDED with spam calls tying up your personal and business phones! Spam emails galore as well. Notice how they don't address details of customer complaints. They either point to the contract or that the CUSTOMER should call them, not vice versa as it should be.

I was a LOYAL customer for almost a DECADE. Multiple term loans taken out and repaid on time. NEVER a missed payment. They offered a line of credit. I accepted. Over time credit limit increased. Then suddenly and without notice or explanation line of credit was frozen. Again, NEVER a missed payment EVER! My personal credit score is exceptional, so when they blamed my "industry" for their decision, I opened an account at my credit union. I guess my credit union values payment history and credit score more when making loan decisions. Go figure!

When I first opened the account, customer service was EXCEPTIONAL. My account manager reached out to me frequently. She was GREAT! My account manager changed 4 or 5 years ago. In that time, I haven't spoken to him or received an email from him EVER. I don't HAVE to pay their crazy high interest rates, but again, I was a loyal customer! From a business point of view, I wonder what their customer acquisition costs are, because they seem very comfortable letting LONG TIME customers go without any effort on their part to keep them.

I run a business and money moves in and out and sometimes more money goes out temporarily and then comes back in. I feel violated that I gave all of my personal and business information to this company who based on my excellent credit, high monthly revenue and time in business was pretty much guaranteed to be approved for either a loan or line of credit. I didn't need a loan. A line of credit would have been perfect for the ebbing of a growing business. How OnDeck doesn't get that I don't understand. I applied for the PPP Loan in April, 2020 with On Deck. COVID-19 has had a immense financial impact on all small businesses, and mine is no exception. After applying and within a few hours, Jose contacted me to introduce himself and request some documentation. For the last 3 weeks, Jose has contacted me on a daily basis to ensure my loan was processing correctly. He kept me updated, and throughout all of my concerns, he always reassured me that he was steadily working on my account. Jose relentlessly worked for my loan account. There were a few minor glitches that needed correction, and every time underwriting would request further documentation, Jose would reach out and have it submitted immediately after I sent it. He was understanding of small business owners, and I appreciated that he could sympathize with the owners who did not have loan documents readily available - as we did not anticipate this pandemic.

I am a business owner that has never relied on any loans. I built a business from scratch, and put my heart and soul into this business. The financial impact on many small businesses has been irreversible. Without the dedication of one motivated loan specialist, my business would have had to file bankruptcy or liquidate. I have had various experiences with mortgage brokers and loan specialist for investment properties, and by far, Jose is one of, if not, THE top loan specialist I have ever had the pleasure of conducting business with.

When applying for a loan, it is the specialist that you are assigned that creates the business for the company. It is the personality, dedication, timely responses, and guidance that make an experience. One specialist can building portfolios for themselves and their company. They are the voice of the company, and Jose definitely gained a lifetime customer here with endless referrals. Thanks again On Deck!

This company had representatives from "zip capital" calling us multiple (6-11) times a day every single day including weekends! Super high pressure sales people who were VERY misleading in order to get us to accept the loan to begin with, which ended up being one of the worst decisions for our business. During the initial hardship caused by this loan we reached out and the company was helpful in offering a lowered payment option for a period of time. Payments are automatically withdrawn from your business account on a weekly basis. Now at a time like this, with the covid pandemic our company has suffered a 93.7% decrease/loss.

ONDECK representatives and responses oddly disappear but our account continue to be debited weekly. We have reached out to them for weeks now requesting a payment deferral plan in order to keep our employees somewhat employed and paid and to keep our business from going bankrupt. We have received no responses from them whatsoever and have now filed a complaint with the BBB. What a shady way to conduct business during a global pandemic, especially from a company that had a direct impact specifically on the nation's small businesses.

When I opened my account a year ago I was told my account will be reviewed for a credit increase and, more importantly, an interest rate reduction. I was assured that, if I establish a one year history with no late payments, it would be no problem to reduce my interest rate. After six months they saw that I am never late on my payments and increased my credit limit without my asking. So far, so good. Now, after one year of a flawless payment record they tell me that I will have to close my account and re-apply for a new account to be considered for a lower interest rate. They don't return calls once you are onboard with them. Also, their reviews that they publish on their site through Trustpilot are rather suspect. PLEASE do not enter into a loan agreement with these California Loan Sharks. They do not disclose the whole truths over the phone and you will not see the loan docs until AFTER you docu-sign them. Here is the dirty: they do charge you a loan origination fee of 1000.00; this was never disclosed until after FUNDING. Their interest rates are HIGH... APR on mine was 74.58%; I was never told this. As I wanted a "short term" loan, I inquired about paying it off early and if there would be any penalties... he replied, "No you can totally pay it off early." Yet another HALF TRUTH as you can pay it off early, but you will pay the interest on the loan in full... less 25% of the total life of the loan interest!

I fell into this from being impatient... not due to a bad credit rating and no place else to go. In my hurry up world of construction, I made a rash decision when my bank didn't respond quickly to my online request. Lesson learned. I reached out to my bank and they have reviewed ONDECK's loan papers, have extended a line of credit to get rid of them, and they have referred me to file a complaint with the Department of Justice, which I am in the process of doing now. I found it hard to eat much less work. For the next 3 months everything was a blur. Once I went back to work it was very part time, I could only handle so much stress in a day. I got behind on my weekly payments. I called and asked if they would work with me on getting current but they said my contract amount for the last advance I had taken was fixed and there was nothing they could do. I can't say I didn't try to pay them but I couldn't pay less than what my weekly amount was so I had to let it go to keep a roof over my head and food in the house which was a struggle on its own.

Bottom line is, they are great as long as life doesn't happen and you God forbid have a hardship. We turned to OnDeck when we couldn't get any kind of loan for our new (18 month in operation) business. Their qualification requirements are much easier than traditional lenders. Our credit scores were damaged as a result of opening a business and all that comes with that. They mostly paid attention to our cash flow and deposits to make sure we could handle the payment. They also wanted to make sure the money was going to be used for something that would help the overall revenue generating potential of the business. We were approved quickly and had our funds almost immediately after approval. In fact, we had to ask them to slow down because we weren't quite ready to receive the money!

Bottom line though? It's expensive. We were approved for $45K, but only took $15K. We opted for a 9 month payback period with daily payments (yes, daily) of $100. On the $15K borrowed, we will be repaying $19K. Expensive. The loan helped us to expand our revenues, but obviously those profits are being eaten up by the payment! Good news is, we're almost done with the loan and those profits will then be available to us. Customer service is excellent, although we've never been unable to make a payment or otherwise draw their ire, so I suppose YMMV. Everything was very transparent and easy to understand, so I'm not sure what the negative reviews about misinformation are about.

Overall, I don't regret taking the loan, but I'm not sure I would again. We've now been in business long enough to qualify for more traditional lending, so I'm not sure I would choose this option given the cost. But for those who can't qualify for other lending, I'd say this is a reasonable option. Just make sure you understand what it's going to cost and account for that in your day to day cash flow.

I applied for a Small Business Loan. Easy and quick application process online, and then a few hours later I got a phone call from a Rep from OnDeck, asking more questions about my business. He was very confusing and vague in answering my questions about the loan and the company, and seemed to dodge some of the questions entirely. For example, he asked me how I would like to repay the loan (daily or weekly) before I had been approved and before I had any clue as to what my loan amount would be and what those payments would look like. Very bad communication and very unclear and there is no way I would feel comfortable with borrowing money from this company.

I started an online application and decided to go in a different direction (with a different lender). About a half hour later, I received a phone call that I had missed and was trying to call back. There was a rep who had called on the other number listed. Once I answered the phone he never stated who he was or where he was calling from and it wasn't until after he was asking about my business did I realize that he was from OnDeck. He was inquiring about our recent revenue and then stated an off number about recent sales that OnDeck lends on only.

The number was NEVER stated online during the application and our revenue exceeds that anyway. I knew I wasn't interested when I had started looking into other lenders, so the conversation just turned my attention away even more. Stop looking for a reason to not lend to small businesses! We are the only reason the company is in existence. Additionally, re-introduce yourself on the phone to maintain professionalism.

Having received multiple online spam and snail mail junk mail in recent times from this business loan/line of credit hoax operation, I am somewhat miffed by their changing goal posts and misinformation that they advertise on their website and through media especially television and Shark Tank. Barbara Corcoran, a supposed savvy business person and television celebrity has poor judgment in putting her name to this scam outfit. I enrolled in their application processes and filed their online paperwork, submitted the documentation, only after reading and rereading their application process time and again, to be sure about their minimum requirements.

My business is 11 years old with modest annual revenues, yet this is not enough for this scam outfit. Nowhere in their information does it say that longer, established businesses require greater minimum monthly revenues than younger unproven concerns. I was not applying for a loan, simply a credit line. Their unrealistic demands of minimum $8500 a month in revenues is not stipulated anywhere in their marketing. I am most concerned that they are nothing more than loan sharks preying on the small business and taking advantage of their real desire to improve their lot. OnDeck continue to send almost daily junk mail, throwing buckets of money at advertising and claiming that we qualify, when we don't. The credit report pull, affects our credit rating and inhibits/reduces our credit ratings as a result.

Unfortunately, they are untouchable and beyond prosecution for their dishonesty and attempt to scam small businesses, especially Midwest businesses, that are the backbone of the country and employment, because we are not on Main Street in NYC and do not bring in their required revenue minimums. As far as this small business owner is concerned, I warm any prospective buyer of their **, to be aware that they are not who they advertise they are. It is gross negligence and false advertising, perhaps the illegal bait and switch prohibited in the Lanham Act that bothers me. I am somewhat thankful to not get into bed with them. Be warned, these charlatans are out to con you. Steer clear while you have the chance.

It was the easiest loan I have applied for. The people that work there help with the process of getting a loan and make it super easy. I had to give them at least six references and at least one work reference. I also had to give them a copy of my paycheck stub and a copy of my ID. The company has several different rate plans that go with what you are looking for. I choose the lowest interest rate. Their terms are very easy to go by and easy to follow. Their website is very easy to follow if you are a beginner at computers. Their online tools are basically you logging in and you see your account. You can get a loan, pay one back, or see how much you owe.

Submitted information and it was kind of quick. That process part could have been faster. The rates are a little high. Could have been better. They could have been more competitive and offer lower rates. The terms are normal. Nothing out of the ordinary. Regular rate term amount of time. I really like the online tools. The application itself was pretty straight forward. So I found no difficulty. But it was after that process trying to find paperwork they needed that became hard. They seemed reasonable for someone with average credit like myself.

On July 15, our company, which is a nationwide photography and videography company whose primary clients are in the real estate industry, was looking to acquire a Line of Credit from a lender to cover subcontractor payments during a short term gap in our cash flow. We looked on-line and found OnDeck. We chose OnDeck because of what appeared to be the ease of qualification as represented on their website: “Companies in business at least 9 months” (Our company has been in business for almost 10 years), “$75,000+ in gross annual revenue” (For the last couple years, our company’s revenues average about $102,000 per year and we are looking to do upwards toward $150,000 this year), “A majority owner with a 600+ personal credit score” (OnDeck uses Experian, but I just received by latest FICO score which was 776 – I am a 50% owner).

Our next step was inquiring about the loan and our eligibility in a lengthy chat session with “Olivia **.” We saw that there was a limitation with industries, which includes the real estate industry, and because the majority of our clients are in the real estate industry, would our photography and videography company be excluded? The answer was clear: No, our company would not be excluded. Based on this, as well as the promise that OnDeck provides the best rates, we submitted our application.

Rather than being instantly qualified, I logged in to the system to find the following message, “We are having trouble verifying your eligibility and want to make sure you meet our minimum requirements.” I called and spoke to Tyler who said that our company was not in good standing with the Secretary of State based on a search performed by our FEIN. He would look into this and get back to us after the weekend.

On July 19, we received an email stating that our company was denied the Line of Credit. Thinking it had something to so with our company’s standing with the Secretary of State, I called the office of the Secretary of State and they stated that they do not use the FEIN to look up businesses, but rather a Business Entity number. This was a number that was not provided to OnDeck at any point in the application process. After a short discussion, the Secretary of State representative stated that our company is in good standing.

I called OnDeck and spoke to another gentleman who stated we were denied because of our deposits were not quite $8,500 per month. I said that I was not applying for a loan, which demands $8,500, but rather the Line of Credit that demands $6,250 per month, which our company was well above. He said that is for businesses that are younger than 4 years old and because our business was more than 4 years old, our requirement was $8,500 per month. I said the website clearly states it requires a minimum of $75k in annual revenue and makes no stipulation that this is for businesses 4 years old and younger.

Had OnDeck represented on their website that our company would not qualify based on deposits for companies 4+ years old, we would not have applied; however, OnDeck omitted this fact on their website and in my chat conversation prior to submitting an application leading us to believe we would qualify. He said he would have Tyler return my call.

Tyler called back shortly thereafter, he stated that it wasn’t the standing with the Secretary of State or the amount of deposits, but our company was denied based on industry because it was real estate. I told him our industry is not real estate, our industry is photography. Many of our clients are in the real estate industry, but we take on many different types of clients. He said there was nothing else he could do. Had the OnDeck represented that our company would not qualify based on industry, we would not have applied; however, OnDeck expressly stated our photography industry would qualify in our chat sessions.

OnDeck enticed our company to spend the time, energy and resources to submit personal and sensitive information as part of an application based on false pretenses which included expressed and implied misrepresentations. I contacted OnDeck customer service requesting that our loan application be based on what was represented to me and that upon approval we should receive a good rate based on my stellar credit score and the longevity of our business. Their customer service representative, Kristin **, reiterated the denial and wrote, “For our Lines of Credit, have a minimum requirement of $200K a year in gross revenue.” So, the requirement went from $75,000 to $102,000 to $200,000 in the matter of several hours.

She then stated it was that our company is in the real estate industry and that was the issue. I told her that we are a photography company and we inquired prior to submitting an application about many of our clients being in the real estate industry and it was expressly stated that would not have an effect, and she responded, “I understand that you are not in real estate, but you work with real estate agencies which is a conflict of interest.” So, I asked if they deny every company that does business with real estate agents? Do they deny Dry Cleaners? Landscapers? Sign Companies? Etc. No. Even so, it was told to our company that we would not be denied for that reason, prior to submitting an application.

A manager, Cameron **, did call me back. He admitted to the misinformation by the representatives and that he would have a talk with them. I stated that the information that was represented to our company enticed a submission of an application because we knew that we would not be denied based on that factor. He stated that no contract was entered upon, so there was no wrong doing on their part and no recourse for our company. I stated that our company engaged with OnDeck based on this information and I have subsequently come to learn that an application is a legal document. Cameron’s analogy was that if Walmart incorrectly prices a bucket of balls for much less than they retail, Walmart is under no obligation to sell you those balls at the incorrect price.

My response was that the lending industry is held to a higher standard than Walmart and my analogy was that if an insurance agent represents something to a person, and later underwriting states otherwise, the insurance company is on the hook for what the representative stated. The same principles apply and that is why errors and omissions exist. I told him all we wanted was reconsideration based on what was represented to our company. He said he went to underwriting twice with industry issue and both times were denied because, as he stated, our company supports the real estate industry. Again, no application would have been filed had the OnDeck representatives not expressly stated that our industry, which primarily serves the real estate industry, would not be denied based on our industry.

This company and my agent was super easy to deal with. I simply emailed the requested information and signed some paperwork online and LESS than 24 hours later the funds were available to use. I couldn't have asked for an easier transaction. I can't say enough about how they have helped my practice grow, especially during these economic times when it can be difficult to be approved for a small business loan from traditional lending institutions. The person taking the information was well informed and knowledgeable. Made it a comfortable experience. The terms were more flexible than some others however the rates were the same and slightly higher depending on the terms.
