I have been trying to cancel my credit card issued by Square for almost 6 months. No response so far. This rating also applies to Square, as they are the ones who offered me the credit card. Stay away from Celtic, and Square. Both companies have provided me with terrible support services.

They are owners for Earnirva, Destiny and Indigo credit cards. They charge annual fees ($49+), alongside a monthly fee ($19+) plus interest. The fees and and interest seem high for even a subprime Lender. After losing my 742 FICO and needing some credit cards, I went through them for 1 business card and 2 personal cards. Its not bad, but the rates are high. If you missed a payment by even 1 day late, the fee is normally higher than the interest. Also, they did not send notice for the annual fee. No text or push notifications, cant find an email. Its almost like they want to slip it into the bill without you knowing, so they can get over limit fees, extra interest, etc.

So many European hotels, taxi, trips use Celtic Bank to pay the bill (credit card) are often denied. There is no reason to deny as there is available credit. Some will partially go through but need a verification code, sent to text email on file, but the majority of these codes never arrive. They are losing out on legitimate purchases due to AI-related "credit card fraud", with are 99% incorrect. I usually have to back out due to frustration and use a different hotel/trip company. Very disappointed.

Had payments taken out each month for my surge payment., guess I was wrong. Received letter dated Sept. 15, 2025, but just got it today, want to take me to court for nonpayment of $1166.61 (which I don't have, due to being disabled, work hours cut down to 9 hours. If they had just emailed me about not getting my payments, I would gladly worked out some arrangements with them, but they didn't. I don't want to go to court, I just want to talk with them and settle this less stress.

Paid off under protest. I was a personal guarantor on an SBA-guaranteed loan serviced by Celtic Bank. After my co-guarantor (my father) passed away I tried to work with them to pay off the loan. Collections told me my OIC was “submitted” and that during the shutdown they wouldn’t move on collections, even though fees would keep accruing.

Days later, an “appraiser” showed up at my late father’s residence—and a $231.66 “appraisal fee” was added to the Final Payout amount that I kept asking for. They also relabeled a $188.96 ‘FPI’ fee that I questioned to ‘Late Charges’ which violated the no late fees greater than %5 terms of the loan. $400 was quoted as interest but in the final statement, only $240 of interest was applied. 45 days after being notified (both verbally and in writing) they still sent two certified mail addressed solely to my late father. One was to notify him that he was in violation of the terms of his loan and needed to either pay it in full or re-negotiate the terms of the loan. I filed regulatory complaints—get everything in writing and triple-check the math.

I had an exceptionally disappointing experience with Celtic Bank. I provided all requested documentation starting in August, yet I was repeatedly asked for the same documents over and over again. I exchanged 57 back-and-forth emails with Cory ** and 44 back-and-forth messages with Solyne **. Despite this extensive communication, the process went nowhere. Each time I asked when the review or closing process would end, I was told “tomorrow” or “the next day.” That never happened.

At one point, Cory ** stated that he had spoken directly with the CEO and the closing manager and that the only remaining step was for me to open a bank account and submit a voided check. I did exactly that—yet immediately afterward, I was again asked for more documents that had already been provided multiple times. What makes this more concerning is the pattern I observed in the owner’s responses to negative reviews. The owner routinely asks reviewers to email him to “resolve the issue,” but based on public records, none of those negative reviews have been removed, suggesting the issues are not actually being resolved.

After months of delays, circular requests, and broken assurances, the experience left me feeling misled, exhausted, and disrespected. While I cannot definitively state the cause, the way this process was handled raised serious concerns for me and felt discriminatory in nature. I strongly advise others to avoid this financial institution. If you value transparency, efficiency, and professionalism, look elsewhere.

I went through AFFIRM. They have a deal with Celtic Bank who hides in the background. Had to go through my statement to find this breakdown. I thought I was paying 0% but it's 35 percent.. On top of that they pound you if you're day late. Do not deal with these people. They go through Walmart Hotels.com. Lot of companies are using them but if you're going to pay 35% interest you might as well go to a local loan shark.

Celtic Bank is Bank used by Affirm. They will not allow the Affirm customer to select the merchants they want to use. Celtic will block the customer from using the same merchant but will approve loans that aren't getting many customers. After using Affirm for a few years, I notice I could get a loan from an unknown company to make sure could honor the contract drumming up business for them. I reported the issue to CFPB and FDIC they have block me from getting any other loans from Affirm. It is unethical and deceptive to push the customer to an unknown merchant vs allowing customers go to the company they trust. I have a excellent pay history and a loyal customer.

I gave 1 star because you can't leave less. This is a terrible bank to attempt to do business with. They want $5 To pay with a debit card, after reluctantly using their website to pay a payment, I am told that will take effect next month and they charged a $41 Late fee. You can't understand any of their customer service people, I don't know what country they outsource to. I was hung up on after being told it would be 2 hours hold to speak to a supervisor. Run. Don't walk away from this credit card called Surge. It took all day trying to work with their website and after submitting a payment, I find out it wasn't a payment and now they want an additional payment which would mean 2 payments for 1 month plus a $41 late fee. This is a very crooked bank with horrible customer service. WARNING ⚠️ DON'T USE THEM!!!@

Applying for the Mesa Homeowners Visa® Signature Preferred Credit Card through Celtic Bank proved to be a frustrating experience. Despite submitting multiple identity documents, including a naturalization certificate, passport, and driver's license, my application was repeatedly denied due to "unable to verify identity" or "information provided does not match application or external source(s)."

Each attempt to understand the specific issues with my documentation or what "external sources" were used was met with unhelpful, often machine-generated responses. Even after escalating the matter to their compliance team, the only feedback was that my documents were "unclear and not sufficiently legible," a claim I found baseless given the clear copies I provided. Reapplying with even more carefully cropped and legible documents yielded the same denial. Repeated emails and voicemails seeking clarification went unanswered, leaving me with no resolution or clear path forward. This process was inefficient and lacked transparency. I have filed complaints with the FDIC and CFPB to look into Celtic Bank's practices.
