Ok, let me first say that I try not to write bad reviews but in this case I have no choice. I should have obeyed the alarm in my head when I asked John why my price was more than the $899-$1399 quote I received online and he said that was for paint only but that was not what my quote stated, mind you there was no damage to my vehicle, I only wanted to change the color. I still decided to go ahead with the paint job and was supposed to pick up my vehicle in a week but that didn't happen because they kept it until the following week. So finally, I go to pick up my vehicle, and it was covered from top to bottom with paint dust, which I point out to Pete but he acted as if it wasn't a big deal.

Then I notice some dried paint drippings on the vehicle and a hole in the paint and pointed that out as well to John and he stated that sometimes dirt and debris get into the paint and I can bring it back at a later date and they will fix it. I also asked him why my logo was not placed back on my vehicle and he stated that they couldn't put that one back on but I can purchase another one from Amazon and bring it back and they will TRY to put it on. Now I'm thinking why should I purchase a replacement for something that they took off? OK, fast forward I get home and wash my windows and chrome detail but not the vehicle itself because they told me not to, so instead I used a soft microfiber cloth to remove the dust residue from that and to my surprise there was paint specks and overspray all over my chrome detail, mirrors and windows.

There was more debris specks caught in with the paint all around my vehicle that had dried with the paint so there was no smooth finish. What I thought was dust residue on my driver's side weather mat was paint as well. Feeling disgusted, I called and asked to speak to the owner, Pete, and he told me that they never claimed to be perfect, but I can bring it back at any time and they will see what they could do to remedy the problems. The issue with that is that they already knew that I am over an hour away and my vehicle is needed for my day-to-day work and I can't afford to miss more days without it. So, with no immediate solution in site, I think that I will just take the issue to my local news channel because if nothing else arises out of this at least more future customers will become aware.

I went in to have my vehicle painted full of enthusiasm. I left with a subpar paint job that I now have to paint myself. I took my vehicle in with 90% of the prep work done. I was told that the vehicle would be sanded and primed bare minimum. There was shrinkage everywhere. I took the truck back twice to have the roof and pillar redone. I got it home and the same areas were shinking and fisheyed. I took it back to show Jesus and he said he'll do it again, but he refused to do any further work for. I've always been warned not to take anything to Maaco. I am a retired firefighter 🚒 and anytime I have told someone I will take care of them, I do. This review is to warn you what I have to take as a lesson. Shame on you maaco!!! My next course of action will be small claims😔

I took my car in for services on 10/08/25. After picking it up on 10/10/25, I noticed my passenger, rear view mirror was wobbling. I literally pulled off onto the side of the road to inspect it. What I saw was a damaged/broken mount that attaches the mirror to the car. Because I picked the car up at 4:55 (and they close at 5:00), I immediately called Sat morning; got a voicemail and left a msg.

After calling on Mon, the owner told me to bring the car in for an inspection. Welp, I just left highly disappointed and angry, because he said I damaged my own car, and there’s nothing he’s going to do about it. Really?! Typical of an irresponsible; I’m not taking any responsibility for what happened, attitude. I even asked him to view his cameras (as he wouldn’t). Now, he has taken $230 in repairs from me, and I’m left with an extra, additional cost (to get it fixed) that was incurred by them and not me. I’m seriously sick to my stomach. What I will be doing, is filing a complaint with the BBB, and I’ll keep you updated.

Having recently taken my 2019 Lexus in for a quote from a competitor I decided that the company in question was out of line in the time necessary to complete the work and additionally wanted to do unnecessary part replacement when painting was all that was required. Maaco gave me a rapid quote and were overall pleasant to deal with. They were efficient completing the work on time and in my opinion gave me value for money.

End of July '25 got my used Toyota repainted to a lighter blue. I paid $4,800 (or so) for the Deluxe package with a 5-year bumper-to-bumper guarantee. Took them bit over 4 weeks, and had to pay for rental car that cost another $650 or so. Went to 3984 Tyrone Blvd N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. VERY pleased with workmanship. Even when I later brought car into Toyota for servicing, ALL the Techs said 'wow, this is a GOOD job and Great color!!' Maaco manager ** was very attentive. My only critique, when they answer the phone would be nice if they say something like: "Hello, I'm 'X' who may I help you?" ... They currently say 'this is Maaco' which is cold, impersonal. Now I hope the paint really does last for the 5-year warranty, given the sun/salt here in FL.

I took my 2018 Lexus ES 350 to Maaco Paint in Martinez, Ga. for a quote on having the bottom nose below the front grill. Paint match was a shade lighter than the dark gray but I could live with the color difference. I understand color matching can be tricky. But during the process they took the nose piece off the front of the car to paint and disconnected all of the front sensors. I was never told or advised that I would have to take the car to my local Lexus dealer to have sensors re-calibrated to the tune of $620!!!

Seems like that was a big piece of information that should have been communicated to me before giving me quote for job. The supervisor told me on newer car that might happen, and I would have had to pay for re-calibration and listed on my quote if he thought about it. I'm not a happy customer and will NEVER use Maaco again, and I will let everyone I know how unprofessional Maaco Paint and warn them to stay away from this unprofessional company does business.

The clear coat totally came off the roof and started downward on both passenger and driver side doors. I went back to Macco in July 2025 and spoke with the general manager Robbie. He listened to me and my concerns diligently. After our discussion he made me an offer for repaint at a special price. Talking to Robbie was like talking to my Doctor. 3.5 months ago, after receiving a repair estimate, I dropped my car off at the Tulsa OK Maaco on S. Peoria. I was told it "never takes more than 3 weeks" to repair a car. I was asked to provide a downpayment and approx a week later, asked to pay upfront for a frame straightening - I promptly paid both. Weeks went by without an update except to say they had not been able to find a replacement bumper for a good price... no further communication despite my calling and emailing the shop. Then they suggested I go with an aftermarket "performance" bumper to save me money instead of an OEM bumper for my 2006 BMW 330ci. I didn't think that would look nice, so my son walked into the shop unannounced and spoke to a co-owner and asked for 2 estimates - it was agreed Maaco would provide 2 estimates - 1 for aftermarket bumper; 1 for EOM.

At this point, I asked for an accounting of what had been completed vs the amount of money I had paid - No response/silence/no estimates. A few weeks later, my son and I arrived unannounced again (because my calls/emails were not returned) with the intent of picking up the car without the repairs being finished; we discussed the lack of communication since drop off. We were told that many incorrect bumpers had been purchased and returned, but that an OEM bumper had been purchased and verified and that the car would be ready to be picked up in about 2 weeks - 6 weeks since drop off! After quite some time talking and having been given a date for completion, I decided to allow them to finish the job. Just before pick up date, I was sent an email stating the bumper was not "in stock" (it is a 19 year-old car). I have emailed and called for the past month... they have continually ignored me.

The only thing I have been able to obtain is an invoice from the company who straightened my frame... I still have no idea if they owe me money or if I owe them money. At the last visit, the co-owner was unaware that I had made any payments! I want a fair accounting and, although I love this car, I have completely given up on ever getting my car repaired by Maaco!

In 2022 I took my 1994 Toyota Camry to the Maaco Bodyshop in Chester Va for one of their premier paint specials and fix a small dent on the passenger side rear. An individual by the name of Frank said the car would be ready in a week. It took 3 weeks but I finally picked up my car. After looking at the car I returned it initially because there was dirt under the paint in multiple areas. I later returned the car again because the paint started cracking. Frank who called himself the owner, didn't want to fix the cracks in the paint. During our discussion he attempted to bate me into a discussion by using profanity. During the next few months not only was the paint cracking but the clear coat started peeling in multiple locations. I wrote several letters to the paint shop and to the corporate Headquarters through Legal Shield but neither responded.

In my experience, Maaco is a terrible choice for any type of paint job or body repair. I was guaranteed 5 years on this particular paint job, but the paint started cracking in months. I also had Maaco paint the front bumper on my 1998 Nissan Maxima, and the paint is peeling on it as well. So what's my recommendation, dont use Maaco if you want a halfway decent paint job. If you think I'm making this up check the pictures.

Really bad experience! Went into Maaco for a mere estimate. The estimate for work that was not even performed and not through insurance made its way to Carfax, which flagged the car as having damage on the date of the estimate! My Carfax report w/o any accidents/problems from my several years of owning the car was ruined by that estimate. Car was devalued in an instant! The little work I had done by Maaco included a part that was painted. Paint didn't even remotely match. What a mess! Will avoid at all costs!

MAACO (El Mirage) took possession of my truck in mid December. In January they called and said that it was done. Upon inspection, I refused to take it or pay until they fixed it. The first thing I noticed was gray primer on the frame that I had just painted black before dropping off. I had asked them to specifically mask off so they didn’t paint the frame. I was told that they mask everything. They pressure washed it and most of it came off. There were countless hairs and sand like sediment in the paint on the roof and both passenger doors, that felt sharp as you ran your hand across it. I was told that their standard was 7 imperfections per panel. There were more than that, and they agreed to repaint the roof, door and fix the rocker panel where there was no paint.

The bed skirt had a 7-8” long crack in the paint where it didn’t stick and was peeling. I asked them if they thought I would accept that and they looked at it like it was the first time seeing it. I had taken off the truck for ease of body work and painting. So I leave with not a very good feeling and fairly frustrated. The second time they called, I had to get another ride across town and inspected the work and again, they didn’t mask off the frame and painted over it again. This time they spray painted over it with black spray paint that wasn’t the same sheen as the paint that I had used. They also sprayed black paint over the factory frame tag. There was a spot on the rear driver side door that was now missing a chunk of paint.

When I pointed it out, they shrugged it off like it wasn’t their fault and said that the masking tape probably pulled the clear coat/ paint off. I asked if they were going to do anything to fix it and they dodged the question. Aside from these major issues, it was better than the first time, but still had small hair and spots that were raised and sharp and they started sanding them down, and said that if there were any other spots that I noticed later to bring it back and they would fix them. This was strange because if they did their job, I shouldn't have to tell them what needed to be fixed. I noticed there was dirt in the paint and different colored spots on the door sill and was very rough feeling from overspray.

The bed skirt had pin holes and needed to be sanded down and fixed/repainted. There was a spot on the rear passenger door that there was primer but no paint over top of it. So we scheduled repainting the 3rd time, and I drove it home. The inside of the truck was filled with sanding dust, and took me hours of vacuuming and compressed air to get clean. I looked over the paint more closely and noticed a couple more spots that needed sanded. I dropped it off and waited about a week and they called and said that it was ready again. I was hoping they were going to get it right this time, but I was wrong.

I opened the doors and the sill was fixed, but there was a large white drip spot from wet sanding on the back floor mat and carpet. Used masking tape and paper was wadded up and thrown in the back seat as well. This time there were multiple black lines on both doors, and they had masked off the corner of the door where there was previously just primer, and painted up to it. This left a sharp hard line that you could see and feel. They spent about 2 hours trying to buff and sand out the black lines and the hard line. I was losing hope for them being able to give me a good paint job. Then I noticed the corners of both doors had been hit and the paint chipped down to the metal. I was getting the feeling that they didn’t care about my truck or their quality of work.

I pointed it out and again they said, “We can fix it.” I told them that I had to take time off from what was already a 2 month ordeal and would call when I was ready to drop it off to get fixed for the 4th time. After getting home, I reinstalled the bedskirt and noticed that the lower front had a patch on it that had a different color on it. It looked like they had tried to fix the scratch and decided to paint and blend the one spot. The initial scratch was only about 8” long. The mismatched paint is about 28” by 12”. I also noticed there was overspray of either clear coat or paint on the windshield and roof. They didn’t mask it off when they tried to fix the door.

After a week I called to see when they could try to fix it again. I usually talked to Casey, but Misty asked if she could help or pass on something to him. So I asked what else would get messed up when they tried to patch the latest problems and what I had to do to get them to give me the “Professional paint job” they advertised. There was a pause, and I asked if I had to talk to an attorney. I asked to meet with the owner and manager to show them the kind of work their shop was doing, and asked to have Casey call me back. He didn’t. So I called the next day, and Misty said that the owner said they couldn’t talk to me any more since I had hired a lawyer. I told her that I did not talk to or hire a lawyer and that she misunderstood and did not pass on the message right. So she said she talked the manager, Nick and he said to bring in in Monday. I had the feeling that they were done trying to fix my truck and that was their way out.

I called again the next day, Friday, to talk to Casey and he said that he couldn’t talk to me because I hired a lawyer. I tried to explain to him what I actually said and what Misty told me the day before, but he wasn’t hearing it. So I stopped by the next day, Saturday, in person to give it one last chance and see if the miscommunication had turned around. It didn’t. Was greeted by Casey with a “Joe we can't talk to you since you hired a lawyer.” I told him that I wanted to apologize for being short and rude on the phone with them before and to clarify what I had said. It didn’t matter, they were done with me. I tried everything I could to avoid dragging this to court. No one from their corporate returns calls, I guess since they are privately owned. Pics that show the worst were on my other phone and couldn't be recovered.

To begin with my wife and I took her SUV which was black at the time to Maaco in Fayetteville North Carolina. We were told by Rachel, our vehicle would be painted and ready within 2 weeks. 2 weeks turned into 18 days. 18 days turned into 21 days. I personally actually argue with a gentleman on the phone only to find out when we went to pick up the vehicle that was the general manager. When a manager argues with a customer over their own vehicle which was far far from a promise date of finishing that is a bad sign for that company.

Every manager knows you talk to your customers politely even if they're upset. I had a right to be upset you kept my vehicle for almost a whole month just to paint it. What made matters so bad was that when we picked the vehicle up it was painted green. They offered to repaint it but they could not promise us how long it would take. My wife did not want to keep her vehicle there any longer not knowing how soon she would get it back, therefore we bought it home and they gave us $100 back. I consider this to be an insult and very unprofessional. Because they messed up the color the least they could have done was say we will paint it over immediately. I felt that they just didn't want to deal with us anymore and so it was easier for them to say "we don't know how long it's going to take but we will offer you $100 back".

This particular shop needs to close down. You guys are ruining Maaco's reputation. To keep people's vehicles for so long knowing you can't deliver in the decent time frame is just wrong. Eventually someone is going to end up in a situation that gets out of control, it's just a matter of time. This particular location greed for money allows them to take in vehicles and tell everyone the same story when they know they can't deliver. Please take your time and read this review this is not made up this is real.

**Terrible Experience with Maaco Plano TX!** I had the misfortune of taking my car show truck that I kept in tiptop condition to Maaco where the first paint job wasn’t properly done and their so called revision was supposed to take a month max to fix. They kept my truck for 7 months when I was told they would take one month!!! Poor communication, delay tactics, unprofessional handling, unethical practices and absolutely no quality service control is evident. First off, they returned my truck with dead batteries where it no longer runs and with an outrageous amount of damage. The wheels were covered in overspray, the grill was glued on, and there were spots where the paint was already falling off. It’s as if they treated my truck like a used rag instead of a vehicle. They even left someone’s drug test results in my glove compartment!!

Communication? Forget it. I tried reaching out multiple times to Steve ** and Rick ** directly, but they completely ignored my calls and texts. When I finally demanded a refund and compensation for the damages, they went totally silent and gaslighted me instead of doing the ethical and right thing. To top it all off, they took the bed of my truck apart and ripped off all the electrical wires underneath—now my truck won't even move! They returned it with damaged taillights, headlights, mirrors scratched, tint damage by removing glass, fried module so much to list. The pictures am showing are nothing to the damages. A ruined headliner, and even some of my programming equipment was stolen and 100 more problems with my truck. We have videos and pictures before this truck left our home to head over to that location on top of videos and pictures from the freight company that took my truck and brought it back.

This was a warranty second paint job since the first paint job was falling off and clear fading from clear to yellow. They completely refused to have another Maaco location working into my truck and they force me to send my truck back to Plano location from San Antonio/Mcallen TX area. I regret not checking online reviews before bringing my vehicle here the first time. If you care about your truck or vehicle do yourself a favor and look at the photos of the mess they left behind before considering this location. They refuse to address any of these issues, and I’m left with a broken vehicle and no resolution in sight. Avoid Maaco at all costs!
