Chevrolet is recalling about 40,000 Corvettes from the 2005-2006 model years. The recalled cars are equipped with a tilt and telescoping steering column.
The company said that repeated movement of the steering column could cause a signal interrruption in the active handling system, which could cause unintended application of one or more of the brakes, possibly causing a crash.
GM will notify dealers when the recall begins. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 about Recall Number N100118.
Consumers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153) or at www.safercar.gov.
